《Devil of the Heavens》
Prologue#
*BOOM*
"Ha..........Ha............Ha.....not y-yet....Ha....Ha..."
It was hell. Outright destruction of a planet was no easy feat. Dead men everywhere splattered on the ground. One could bathe in this river of blood. Among the pile of dead bodies, there was one who was barely alive.
He stood up with the little strength left in him. Up close, you could see his armor half broken and bruises all over his body. But there was light in his eyes. He looked as if his resolution was absolute. He knelt on the ground. He tried to gather all the energy left in him.
His sword was struck to the ground. It was a soul sword. A sword forged by giving up one''s soul. The strength of the sword depended on the strength of the soul that was used in its making. But there was a catch. The sword could only be used by one person. Once the wielder died, it would wither away. This sword was forged by a renowned blacksmith, which made it even more deadlier in terms of quality and strength. This sword was the "Blood Striker".
After picking his weapon up the ground he flew back to where this all had begun.
*Swoosh*
A light could be seen in the sky. It was edging towards a person on the ground. He was an old man with a rigid expression on his face. He was a "mage". He stroked his white beard as he wasn''t one bit surprised. Suddenly, the old man felt something which stuck his heart in fear. The old man experienced something which he never had, he started to shiver. It was killing intent from someone who was watching him from the sky. He noticed in the red sky there was something more frightening than what he had seen in his entire life. "Impossible! How could he reach such a level!" the old man spoke to himself. He felt a sudden pressure across his body. The old man was confident that he could kill him but that was before his confidence had shattered like glass.
*Swoosh*
He descended on the ground.
The air around the old man started resonating. High pressure waves collided against him as he barely kept his guard. The person looked at him with cold blooded eyes. Suddenly a black light emitted from his sword as it enveloped him.
"Sura!!!!!" he shouted. All the air around him began to rush towards him with him as the center. It was like an air sink. The dark light engulfing around him began to expand. Old man was confused. He had never seen anything this bizarre. He knew this was a charging technique so he decided to attack him with all his might. The old mans''s intuition told him something was wrong. Nevertheless he decided to charge forward to attack. When the old man was almost near him, a high pressure wave traveled towards him. The old man decided to stay put.
"Divine Earth Shield!" the old man shouted.
A brown colored dome appeared over him. The quality of the skill was outstanding. Any average supreme expert wouldn''t even be able to make a crack on the dome.
As the wave hit his shield, it wasn''t one bit affected. But the old man''s face changed to deathly pale white. He thought he could defend against the attack, but he was wrong as it had instead passed through him. As the wave swept through him, his internal organs were crushed and his soul energy started to leak out of his body. His soul was leaving his body. His death was certain.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"S-S-Soul shock!!!" the old man exclaimed.
He was totally caught of guard. The attack was an after effect of the technique Sura. It was a charging technique which could only be used by a very few of the highest leveled experts who could be counted by hand. It would sometimes radiate a soul shock which was something like a bizarre wave which could pass through absolutely anything. The technique could only be used once as it required all of one''s energy. The main reason why this person had used this technique was because after charging up it could be combined with an attacking technique which was like the next step.
The old man stood where he had decided to stay put. He couldn''t move a muscle let alone a finger.
In this sea of the dead, there stood two people. One a warrior, another an old mage. A warrior who wanted revenge and a mage who stood on the ground helplessly thinking that he had wronged the wrong person. Both in their final moments.
As the warrior charged towards the mage, he shouted "Asuraaa!!!!!!". His final ultimate attacking technique. This would completely use up one''s soul to produce an extremely powerful strike. It would last only five seconds.
5........4...........3..........
*Swoosh*
The warrior jumped of the ground as he came to be just above the mage. He knew this would be his final moments. For him and the person below him. All the memories of his past flashed in his mind. He remembered all the regrets he had in life as he knew he had let down a lot people who were precious to him. They were his responsibility. But if he failed in killing the mage, this regret would haunt him in his afterlife.
The old man knew he was going to die. After witnessing the ferocity of the attack he almost died of a heart attack. Fear crept into his soul.
2..............
The sword on the warrior''s hand moved up as he rushed towards the old man to slash him.
The old man didn''t have the courage to face death with his eyes open.
He closed his eyes.
1..........................................
*Slash*
The sword slashed into mage''s shoulder. The mage let out a loud scream. His body was cut diagonally. His bones were crushed due to the pressure of the slash. It was as if the body had exploded. All that remained was a pool of blood.
"Ha.......ha........Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha" the warrior was laughing. Finally he had got his revenge and had put an end to his misery. A bitter end. He could see the dead mage''s skull on the ground. He took his sword and struck the skull against the ground.
His consciousness was fading away. "So t-this is the end..." he said to himself.
"Zehahahahahahhahaha...ha.....ha " as started laughing, tears rolled from his eyes. He had got his revenge. This was his final goal. He had achieved it.
His vision started to blur."F-Finally.............Sis I''m coming to you" said the warrior as his mind blanked out.
A fight between a warrior and mage had caused widespread destruction. Hundreds of thousands caught in this fight died a miserable death. The cause of all this was a single warrior.
And now, he had died.
Chapter 1: He Descends
Midnight. It was a full moon night as stars shone brightly in the background.
Yes, the night was indeed special, not because it was beautiful but because it was very important for the people of Li Sect. Lady Li Rou had gone into labor. Her husband Li Feng didn''t care much. After all she was his second wife and the child was her second. The only thing on his mind was that he worried she would have complications at childbirth. Even though she was his second wife, he did love her. Usually second wives did not have much authority in their respective clans but there were certainly some exceptions. It was very much correct for Li Feng to be worried about his wife because she had a weak constitution when compared to other women. But she was a real beauty and most of the women couldn''t be compared to her.
Li Rou always wanted a son. She wanted a son who would make her husband proud and bring glory to the Li Sect. Li Feng was the only son of the Sect Head Li Cheng. Well at least the only one alive. Li Rou''s first child was a girl. She was really favoured by Li Feng. Even though Li Rou had gone into labor, she was surprised she didn''t feel much pain compared to her first time.
The weather started to change rapidly. Suddenly dense clouds started to cover the sky above Li Sect. In moments it started to rain. In a while, it was raining cats and dogs. Li Feng was surprised when he looked outside and began to think what might be the reason for this sudden weather change. "The only reason for this to happen was if someone made the Rain Gods angry." Li Feng said this to himself. Suddenly he saw a lightning that made him almost shiver. "Heavens!" Li Feng was shocked at the sight. Of course any one who saw that would be shocked at that sight and would be shivering. "It was as if the lightning came down the heavens and stroked the ground!" Li Feng thought to himself. He was astonished at the intensity of the lightning strike. After witnessing the sight, Li Feng was lost in his thoughts but then he felt a presence of a person closing in on him. He noticed that this person was of very low cultivation. As he turned back, what he saw was one of the attendants of the sect. They were numerous attendants in the sect. Basically they were servants who did chores in the sect.
As Li Feng turned back , he went towards the attendant. "What happened?" Li Feng asked the attendant. "Master, Lady Li Rou has giving birth." replied the attendant. What was not surprising was Li Feng''s reaction. "How is my wife? How is her health?" Li Feng interrupted. "Lady Li Rou didn''t have any complications and she is perfectly healthy." replied the attendant. "Ho! Ho! That is good!" Li Feng replied as he was happy. Suddenly Li Feng thought how stupid he was and anxiously asked "Is it a boy or a girl?"
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
It was a boy. Li Feng rushed to where Li Rou and the baby were. As he reached the room, he saw Li Rou smiling as she was holding the baby. "Dear, it''s a boy!" Li Rou joyously exclaimed. Li Feng then came to his wife and took the child in his arms. "Ho! Ho! Look at my boy, he''s got your eyes Rou! I know he''ll grow up to be very strong!" said Li Feng as he saw a very content face of his wife. Actually Li Feng didn''t know what to say so he spontaneously made something up to comfort his wife. Well, Li Feng was indeed happy as he got another son. He knew the importance of having a son. Li Feng now had five children. And now he had three sons. He always wanted another son as a backup if something happened to his eldest. He was the only remaining son of his father and he knew that one his sons would inherit the sect. Hence, even having more than two was always good as he knew anything could happen in this harsh world if the heavens didn''t favor him. Also having more sons could always bring glory to their sect, if they were good at martial arts of course. Well at least his bloodline would be secured.
The child''s name was already decided as Li Chen if it was a boy. Hence, Li Chen it was. As Li Feng and his wife were talking, the baby started to cry. Li Rou started to comfort her baby. Seeing this Li Feng kissed on his wife''s forehead and said he would meet her again in the morning. Li Feng then told the maids to look after his wife.
"W-What?What is this place? W-Where am I? " some questions were going in the mind of this person. It was shocking as this person was Li Chen. Yes, the baby.
"So...weak!" Li Chen thought to himself as he tried to control his body. Li Chen couldn''t understand a word Li Rou was telling. "Who is this damn woman?!" Li Chen was infuriated. Of course all Li Chen could do was cry. This was normal for a baby to do. Li Rou was happy as her child was crying out loud as she thought her son would be very active in the future. This again was a foolish and a stupid thought. Li Chen didn''t have much energy left in his small frail body and his consciousness began to fade. Finally seeing her son sleep, Li Rou went to sleep as well.
This night was indeed special, not because Li Feng got another son but because it would go down in history as the date when a legend was born. Yes, the legendary Li Chen. No one would even think that this day would be that important or would even think, that a person of such stature would be born here in this time. The winds of change would now blow across continent. Whether, the future now held only chaos and carnage, no one would be able to tell.
The Asura had descended.
Chapter 2: Where am I ?
Li Chen
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping in the distance. The view of vast grass extending before my eyes through the door was refreshing. Almost everything here made me feel like royalty. As soon as the sun rose in the morning , the whole Sect seems like its filled with energy. So much natural energy. I can''t help but feel happy in the mornings watching the scenery outside. The Li Sect is surrounded by hills on one side. The other side is a dense forest.
It was three years ago that I was born in this world. It took some time for me to understand their language and the way these idiots lived. As far as I know this world has one sun and one moon. I was quite surprised when I came to know these lowlifes actually knew something about astronomy. But as for where exactly I am in this universe, I didn''t have a clue. Initially I had many questions. Most of them were answered by some of the books I found within the sect. I would often cry looking at the book that I wanted have a look at. The maids would give that book thinking I would stop crying. Well, they were right. There were maids for everything. Changing my clothes, giving me a bath, walking me around the sect, giving me whatever I would ask etc. All of these activities were accompanied by the woman who gave birth to me. I call her mother. It makes her happy. As I said, it was absolute royalty.
This world was called the Gaspra Realm. It was ruled by martial artists. The power of these people were comparable to my previous world. I was quite shocked. This world like my previous world had standards for ''power''. More like people were divided by levels. Here these levels were called "Profound Realms". A person who was at the age of twelve would start practicing martial arts. These martial arts where called the Way of the Immortals. It was something really stupid according to me. In short, there were a few profound realms or levels, as one crossed each profound realm to the next profound realm, his power would increase drastically. Each profound realm was divided into ten sub-levels or stages. As one would advance from the first to the last stage, he would be able to advance to the next profound realm.
Every martial artist would start with the first profound realm. It was the Rudimentary Profound Realm. Those aged twelve once started practicing, would reach the first stage of the rudimentary profound realm after some good training. From there on out they had to continue the hard work to reach new heights. There were several ways to step up to the next stages. One of the most essential method was meditation. This method was used to enter the first profound realm as well as advance to the later realms. The martial artists were called cultivators. They called training as cultivating.
"I need more power......"
I was really disappointed. The methods for cultivating from my previous world didn''t work here. My first objective was strength. It was my only objective. So I needed to find out how these people trained. Hence from a few days I have been visiting the training grounds. I make the maids take me where the sect members train. I must say, they train hard. The top cultivators make up less than one percent of this world. Most of the sect members are average. But this level of talent to the smaller sects is something they can never have or never reach.
Talking about sects, there are five major sects in this continent. The whole of this continent is an empire called Yellow Shield Empire. This empire has five major sects. The Yin Sect, Chu Sect, Ling Sect, Zhao Sect and Li Sect. It was quite fortunate for me to be born in this sect because they had a lot of resources. The five major sects had branch sects of their own. The empire was ruled by the royal family. The current time was of peace. The last war was fifteen years ago with the neighboring empire. There was no victor as both the empires reached a stalemate. The losses were large for both the parties. The war was with the Blue Eagle Empire. Both the empires considered each other as rivals. Since the end of the war, both the empires compete with each other in martial art competitions. All does not seem well between the two in peace time as well.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
As for continents, there are seven continents. The ruling empires number four. Some of the area in a few continents are ruled by clans and the the four empires refuse to recognize them as an empire. The Yellow Shield is more of a neutral power. They are too careful in diplomacy. They don''t get on anyone''s bad side.
I need at least two to three years before I can start training. I''m running out of patience. Everyone may start at age twelve but I will start when I''m five or maybe six. I have a feeling I can do it. After all, I''m different from these guys.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhere in the Yellow Shield empire mansion.
There were two old men conversing something secretly in their chambers. It was difficult to read the expression on one of the old man''s face. As he passed down the message he received to the other old man, he felt relieved as if a burden was cut off from his shoulders.
"Impossible!!!" the old man bellowed in a growling voice.
"What the hell are you saying? They started to move already??"
"Indeed. We caught one of their spy''s. We had him cough up some information"
"Is the information reliable???"
"Yes. It is. It''s from a prominent source"
"Do you even know what this means? After fifteen years the Blue Eagle empire has started to move. This information itself can cause ruckus within the council. W-We need more information. W-We need to be absolutely certain"
"Yes. There is also a chance that there may not be anything major. The information given up by the spy may be all lies"
"Look I don''t want this issue to prolong any further. Take care of it. If it really does become something serious then come back to me. That will be the time I take some measures"
"Understood" the old man replied as left the chambers.
As his subordinate left, he was all alone in his room. He thought of the war fifteen years ago and how big the losses were to the empire. His gaze was fixed on the moon. He just stared at it through the window, standing still without making any movements.
"Hmmm......I need to make arrangements" he spoke to himself.
Chapter 3: Li Sect Massacre
Li Sect
It was just another day like always. Disciples of the sect sparred in the early mornings. None of them were allowed to injure anyone seriously. All of them took these training sessions seriously. Many of the disciples of the main sect came from the branch sects. Through fierce competitions these disciples were picked. Hence they were the seeds of the next generation. These disciples were the core of the next generation. Hence they were the foundation of the next generation. This foundation had to be strong or else the the future of the sect wouldn''t be good. For this sole reason the sect paid immense attention in nurturing these seeds.
The sun began to set. Li Chen and his sister Li Rong were with their mother in her room. Li Rou was reading out a story book to her kids.
"And that''s how the prince rescued the princess and lived happily ever after!"
Li Chen gave a smile to his mother. He thought how foolish this story was and the concept of happily ever after but he couldn''t tell it out.
"OH MY GOD! This god forsaken family''s gonna kill me! Really? Happily ever after?! I want to puke!" Li Chen thought to himself.
"Waahhh! Mother will I also find my prince?!" Li Rong exclaimed.
"Yes you will dear" Li Rou replied.
Li Chen didn''t believe in fairy tales. The only thing he believed in was power. One that had power could carve out his destiny as he wished. This was what Li Chen believed in. After numerous life and death experiences he had in his previous life it wasn''t surprising at all.
Li Rong was five years old. She was his only real sister. Well, he did have two half brothers and a half sister. Li Rong was very mischievous. She used to throw tantrums everyday. Li Rou found it really hard to discipline her. But she was just a child. So, Li Rou just let her be like that. At least for now.
Li Chen had never met his other siblings. In fact he had never met his father''s first wife. For some reason they had decided to stay in one of the branch sects. He had heard some maids talk about how Li Daiyu was jealous of his mother as his father showed more affection towards her. Yes, the first wife''s name was Li Daiyu. She was the daughter of some elder of the clan. Li Chen didn''t know the specifics.
"Pheww! I feel so tired!" Li Chen thought to himself as beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. "Damn this body! Weak! Weak! Weak!!!" Li Chen was fuming. He was a three year old boy. Any child of that age would feel tired fast and would even start sleeping. But Li Chen was different. He wanted to try some of the training methods from the books but his body thought otherwise. He hadn''t come in terms with his body yet. Finally he realized his body was not ready. He came to realize the reason of why everyone used to start cultivating energy from age of twelve.
That night Li Rou sent Li Chen to bed herself. She kissed him on the forehead.
"Good Night little Chen!"
"Good Night Mother"
Li Chen was exhausted after trying some stupid things during the day. Now he needed some good rest. Li Chen closed his eyes and after a while went to sleep. It was three hours since he had slept. He was dreaming. A person was holding his hands. It was a girl. They were strolling in the grasslands. Her hair was so beautiful as it gently waved about in the breeze. She had golden hair. She looked at him with a smile on her face. She tried to tell him something. He couldn''t hear it. He then realized. These were his memories from his his previous life. He thought of how good his life was at that time. Everything that was good would never last long. He thought how of his life had come down crumbling. Despair was all that remained in his heart. The girl was his sister. The only person he cared about the most in his previous life. His only family.
As he thought of all this, he was lost in his dream. He saw all those images again as if it happened again right in front of him. If someone looked at his soul, one could see the despair and deathly loneliness radiating out. He heard someone call out his name. The sound grew louder and louder.
"Chen wake up!!!! Li Chen!"
He woke up. He saw his mother trembling. Her eyes were filled with fear and desperation.
"Mother what happenned?!" Li Chen was startled.
*BOOM*
The ground began to shake as if it was an earthquake. All of a sudden a series huge blasts could be heard.
*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*
"No time for answers!" Li Rou replied as she grabbed him. Behind her there were two servants. They were both in the rudimentary profound realm. They were like ants in front of experts. Li Rou gave her son to one of the servants. She looked her son in the eye.
"Li Chen there is lot I must say but there''s not time for that. You must be brave! I have arranged a place for you to stay. Its one of the branch sects. You will be safe there. These servants will take you there. Be good."
Li Chen understood the situation was really serious. He knew there was some sort of an emergency.
"My s-son....." she muttered. Li Rou kissed him on the forehead. Tears rolled down from her eyes. She didn''t know whether she would see him again. Li Chen''s safety was her top most priority. She would never even imagine in her dreams that a situation like this would occur. Right now, Li Sect was under attack.
The servants took Li Chen and hurried out the door. Li Rou knelt to the ground and started to cry. She didn''t want to part with her son. But this was for his safety. She had no other choice.
The two servants reached the courtyard holding Li Chen. When Li Chen saw the scene outside he came to a conclusion. The sect was under attack. The two servants were shivering. They saw experts fighting everywhere. They were dead scared. In front of all these experts they were like ants! As they held Li Chen they rushed to the corridor towards east. There was an exit after the corridor. As they sped towards it, Li Chen''s gaze was fixed towards on two experts. They were in the sky battling. He realized these were what they called as supreme experts. The person on the left was wearing a black robe with the Li Sect''s crest on his left part of his chest. He was an elder of the sect.
The elder had a fierce expression on his face as he stared at the green robed man in front of him. The elders of the Li Sect wore black robes with a golden lining. Both the experts stared at each other. There was absolute silence. Both of them had intense glares. The killing intent the both of them posed could kill even a mid-level expert of a heart attack. The pressure these two created was immense. The black robed man was furious.
"Such impudence! How dare you people of the Ling Sect attack us?!!! Not only did you attack us, you even ganged up with the Zhao Sect!! So shameless!!" the black robed elder fumed.
Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site."It rather good being shameless than being D-E-A-D" the green robed man replied. He had a cold smile on his face.
"Y-Y-You think you can kill me?!!!!!" the black robed man shouted.
"Well, we won''t know unless we give it try now won''t we?" the green robed man replied as he had a smirk on his face. The green robed man was an elder from the Ling Sect. Both the men were extremely powerful. The green robed man chuckled. He knew this day would be the end of Li Sect. They had planned this attack. Ling Sect together with the Zhao Sect and Yin Sect had planned this attack. Their plan was a success because neither the Sect leader Li Cheng nor his son Li Feng were there in the sect. Li Cheng was called for a meeting by the other three sects. He was ambushed and killed. Together with Li Cheng there were three elders of the Li Sect. All of them were killed by the combined forces of the three sects. As for Li Feng, he had gone to meet his first wife Li Daiyu in one of branch sects. He was to be killed later on as the three sects wanted to trample upon the main sect first.
The green robed man made the first move.
He raised his left hand as a beam of light appeared. The beam of light turned into a huge serpent. It hoovered above him in the sky. The serpent was over a hundred meters long. As his hand waved towards the black robed man the serpent thrust towards the black robed man.
"Thorn Devil Serpent!" the green robed man yelled.
The black robed man raised a finger. The air around him started to resonate as a wave of wind in the shape of a tiger shot forward and clashed with the serpent.
*BOOM*
The pressure of the attack was too severe. The two experts closed in on each other and began attacking. As they were both completed immersed in the fight they both stopped attacking all of a sudden. They both felt the presence of many supreme experts. They were surrounded. The black robed man was dumbstruck.
"H-How can there be so many experts??!!" he thought to himself as he looked at the sky.
There were around fifteen people. Some of them wore green robes and some of them wore red robes. As they closed in on these two, a smile appeared on the green robed man''s face.
A red robed man from the group of fifteen people yelled "What the f**k is going on here??!! We don''t have time for your puny dog fights!!"
"This cannot be prolonged any further! Elders slaughter everyone!!!" another red robed man from the group shouted.
As soon as he said that the group of fifteen people charged forward. All of them focused their attack on the black robed man. He was killed in an instant. He had formidable strength but in front of fifteen other experts, he was squashed like a fly.
"Pity he died such a sad death" the green robed man who had fought him earlier thought to himself.
The red robed men were the elders from the Zhao sect. Together with elders from Ling Sect they started to destroy everything in front them. The other forces of the two sects had already destroyed more than half of the sect. The disciples of the Li Sect were slaughtered. They were killed in some of the cruelest methods. For some of the disciples, the hands and legs were cut off first. Later their heads would be cut off. The Li Sect right now had five elders. Two were killed by the forces of the two sects. One was killed by the red robed men. All that remained were two others. One of the elders was with his disciples pushing back the forces. He was in a terrible shape but he continued to hold on. The other elder was in charge of providing a safe route for Li Chen to escape.
The black robed elder was fighting of some cultivators from the other forces. He kept good distance between him and the servants who were carrying Li Chen. He would kill anyone who would obstruct their path. After a while the servants reached the exit and left sect not even looking a back a bit. His job was done. He returned to where the other elder was fighting. What he saw made him shiver. Everyone were slaughtered.
"H-How can this.." as he was about to finish his sentence a sword pierced through his heart from the back. A green robed elder from the Ying Sect killed the wounded black robed man in an instant.
A group of robed men appeared from the shadows. They looked at sight in front of them. They were very much pleased to see this. Blood splattered over the wall, heads hanging from the pillars, bodies all over the ground. The Li Sect had come to an end. The elders from two sects and their forces gathered together. They began to have a light moment. The elders started a conversation.
"Well that takes care of the Li Sect. We won''t be having troubles from these bastards again!"
"Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha" everyone began to laugh.
"As a matter of fact, we did this world a favor!"
"Hmm..........What about Li Feng?"
"No need to worry. The Yin Sect would have probably killed him by now!"
"What about the descendants of the Li Sect? There happened to be a son of Li Feng here?"
"As you can see, everyone here from Li Sect are dead and we made sure no one got out. So he''s probably dead here somewhere."
"Fine. That takes care of that. Even if he was alive and wanted revenge, who would support him?? Even the branch sects of Li Sect will be destroyed in the next two days anyway."
"Right. Let us focus on the matter at hand right now. Let us depart from here and begin our attack against the branch sects of the Li Sect. When the Yin Sect takes care of Li Feng, even they with their forces will join us."
"Right!"
Everyone nodded. They began to depart from the Li Sect or formerly know as Li Sect. The elders rose up in the air and vanished as a beam of light.
*Swoosh*
A cold wind blew across the Li Sect. It was the land of the dead. Everyone dead. From this day the Li Sect would cease to exist. The reason for why the three sects conspired against the Li Sect was a mystery which only a handful of people knew.
After two days the news of Li Sect''s massacre spread like wild fire throughout the continent. No one knew who was the culprit because everyone single member of the Li Sect was dead and there were no witnesses.
As of now, there were not five but four major sects in the Yellow Shield Empire.
Chapter 4: The Tomb
"Pheww!!! Tao Yan exhaled.
"Man that was too damn dangerous!" Yu Qin replied.
"If it wasn''t for that elder we would have been minced meat" said Tao Yan.
"Anyways we successfully accomplished our mission! We saved Young master! Young master you don''t have worry now, we''re already far from the sect" said Yu Qin.
Li Chen didn''t know how to respond. He had witnessed an astonishing battle between two experts. In his mind he was still thinking about that scene while the two servants together him had fled from the sect.
"What about my mother and sister?" asked Li Chen.
"Nothing to worry Young master. They were to escape from another route. By now they would escaped in the opposite direction" replied Yu Qin.
"Why didn''t they come with us?" asked Li Chen.
"Young master this plan was made by one of the elders. The elder said it would better to escape separately as the survival chances would be more" replied Yu Qin.
"Oh.....then that''s fine" said Li Chen.
The two servants were quite shocked. They noticed that their Young master remained calm throughout this catastrophe. He didn''t show one bit signs of fear. After seeing this they also made their mind strong. They couldn''t lose face in front of their Young master. What they had heard about their Young master was true, he was really more mature than the a ten-year old even if he was three.
"So, where are we headed now?" asked Li Chen.
"Young master, we are going to one of the branch sects in the Wanshu province" replied Yu Qin.
The whole time they had been running. Tao Yan was holding Li Chen and Yu Qin was there beside them. Yu Qin was in the fourth level of the Rudimentary Profound Realm and Tao Yan was in the fifth level of the Rudimentary Profound Realm. They were strong enough to run for months continuously. They decided to go off-road as there were chances of someone pursuing them.
In front of them was a forest. To cross a forest at night was indeed dangerous. But this was the chance they had to take. They could reach the Wanshu province much faster through this course. Tao Yan and Yu Qin stayed close to each other as they sped through the forest. It was midnight. They were already travelling through the forest for an hour. After an hour of travelling they came across a lake. They decided to halt to drink some water.
As Tao Yan bent down to drink some water, he felt a presence near them. Tao Yan quickly got back on guard and held Li Chen. Yu Qin realizing something was wrong started looking in all directions. Then from the shadows a robed man came out.
"Stay back!" shouted Tao Yan.
"Relax. I''m from the Li Sect" replied the robed man.
"What proof do you have?" asked Yu Qin.
The man took out a badge of the Li Sect and waved. Tao Yan and Yu Qin seeing this still had some suspicions.
"Why have you come here?" asked Tao Yan.
"I come from the branch sect from Wanshu province" said the robed man.
"What? Why are you here?" asked Yu Qin
"The branch sect was annihilated. Nothing remains there anymore" replied the robed man.
"W-What? I-Impossible how can the sect be destroyed??" Yu Qin asked in disbelief.
"The forces of Zhao Sect have completely annihilated the sect" the robed man replied.
Lu Qin and Tao stared at each other. Now they had no plan. The road ahead was full of uncertainties and mostly death. Li Chen had doubts whether the whole clan had perished. Then he broke the silence.
"Then why have you come here?" asked Li Chen.
Lu Qin and Tao Yan who were lost in their thoughts came back to their senses.
"Young master, I was sent here to make sure you reach one of the secret residences of the sect"
"Then where this place? How long do we need to reach that place?"
"Young master, this residence is near the end of our country to the north. What lies after that is only seas. You will be safe there"
"To the north??? Near the Yellow sea?? It''ll take us months on foot!" Tao Yan shouted.
"Calm down. I know travelling on foot is not a possible option for you both. Also with Young master, it would be foolishness as the situation now is too dangerous and you both are too weak" the robed man replied.
Both Tao Yan and Lu Qin had nothing to reply in their defense. The robed man then continued.
"That is exactly why I have brought a rank 3 blue eagle with me"
"R-Rank 3 Blue Eagle??" Yu Qin was surprised.
"Yes, take the eagle and leave. It''ll take you three days to reach there. And take this spatial belt. It has enough food for five days." the robed man replied as he gave the belt to Yu Qin.
*Whistle*
As the robed man whistled a giant eagle flew towards him. The eagle''s beak shined in the moon light. It''s beak was gold-colored. It had a navy blue colored body. Its wings had a hint of white stripes. It looked majestic.
The eagle landed on the ground. It was really hard to tame magical beasts as they were prideful creatures. They would rather die than submit. Tao Yan and Yu Qin stared at it in astonishment. They knew the cost to buy such a creature was so high that even the earnings of their whole life wouldn''t be enough to buy it. They took Li Chen and sat on the eagle.
"Take this map and fly north" the robed handed the map to Yu Qin.
"At any circumstances you shouldn''t let any harm come to Young master, even if you have to lay down your lives" said the robed man.
"Yes!" Tao Yan and Yu Qin replied simultaneously.
"Good. Young Master I bid farewell. Your useless servant can''t accompany you in this journey. I have to go and check on my disciple''s safety"
"You have already done enough. You are free to go." Li Chen said as he looked down from the eagle.
"Thank You Young Master. I hope you have a safe journey" the robed man replied.
*Swoosh*
The robed man looked at the sky as the eagle disappeared from his sight.
The eagle flew at a tremendous speed. Yu Qin couldn''t imagine what their situation would have been if it weren''t for the eagle. They traveled for another day. It was night. Currently, they were flying over the Death Forest. This forest was the most dangerous place in the entire Yellow Shield Empire. This was because the forest couldn''t be kept under control. The imperial army realized there would be too many casualties in gaining control over the forest. Moreover, many ruthless bandits lived in the forest for centuries. If the army decided to attack, it would be a major situation and would make the country vulnerable to attacks from other countries. The empire couldn''t risk such a situation. So, they decided to forget about it as it was simply a small part of their country. The Death Forest lived up to its name. Mass murders, killing, rapes, robbery were something that was absolutely normal in the forest. The major bandit groups usually had backing from the empire itself. The Empire couldn''t risk attacking them but that didn''t mean they couldn''t start a proxy war. This was usually done in secret by the Empire to keep the bandit groups in check.

Li Chen felt something strange as looked at the forest. He could hear a scream. He saw Yu Qin had frightened expression on his face.
*Sniff* *Sniff*
"Something is wrong with the air" Li Chen thought to himself as he saw a fog in front of him.
"Strange. There is a fog in front of us. Yu Qin stay on guard" said Tao Yan.
Yu Qin nodded as the eagle flew through the fog. Li Chen couldn''t help but think that something was wrong.
"Shit. We can''t see anything. I hope this eagle just doesn''t lose the sense of direction. I just hope we fly out this thing fast" Yu Qin was worried.
Li Chen looked around the fog and saw the eagle''s wings. Then he looked at the eagle''s face . He realized how foolish his servants were.
"YOU IDIOTS!!! WE''RE NOT FLYING !! WE''RE GLIDING!!!" Li Chen yelled.
"What?"
Yu Qin looked at the eagle. The eagle was unconscious. Yu Qin realized this was not fog but some sort of gas which affected magical beasts.
"........''''
"Oh Shit."
The Eagle fell on the trees. Tao Yan held Li Chen and jumped before impact. So did Yu Qin.
"Ha....Ha.......Ha....." Yu Qin was breathing heavily.
"Great. Now what do we do?" Li Chen asked curiously.
"Y-Young master we''ll definitely think of a way" said Tao Yan. As Li Chen was about to speak a bandit lurked from the shadows.
"Well look at what we have here" said the fat bandit. Behind him were four others. They wore beast skin. They looked like savages.
"Big bro look there is a rank 3 Blue Eagle with them"
"Yeah Big bro they look rich!"
"Yeah"
"Yeah"
The fat bandit pursed his lips in into a cold smile. He looked at the three people in front of him and saw they were wearing some fine clothing.
"Boys!! We hit some jackpot today! Lets take them to boss!" the fat bandit looked behind said to his gang.
"In your dreams" Tao Yan muttered.
*Swoosh*
"Big Bro!!! They fled!!"
"You bastards!! You can''t escape!"the fat bandit yelled as he and his gang followed them.
"Hahahahaha.....those two weaklings are only in the fourth level of Rudimentary Profound Realm! Too easy!!"
Tao Yan and Yu Qin sped through the forest. Yu Qin suggested Tao Yan to split up to lose the bandits. They knew the bandits were stronger than them. The fat bandit was in 8th level of Rudimentary Profound Realm.
So Tao Yan took Li Chen and sped away in another direction.
"Shit! These guys split!" the fat man yelled.
"You both! Follow the guy with the boy. We''ll head straight ahead!" the fat bandit shouted.
"Oh You won''t get far!"
Tao Yan ran as fast as he could. Li Chen felt a sinister aura ahead. Suddenly, Tao Yan tripped and fell on the ground.
"Can''t you even run properly!!" Li Chen yelled but he soon became silent when he saw Tao Yan''s legs tied.
"Yes!! We caught''em!!" the bandit yelled as rushed towards them with his dagger.
"Young Master run! I''ll take care of these bastards" Tao Yan said.
Without even looking back Li Chen started to run forward.
"Shit! To think I would ever be in such a situation like this! Shit! Shit!" Li Chen thought to himself as he wondered how a person like him who once rampaged the lands was now running away from weak bandits.
Tao Yan broke through the ropes on his legs and started to fend off the bandits.
Li Chen ran ahead. He felt the sinister aura ahead of him. But he had no choice. Going back meant getting killed by the bandits. So he decided to just run. There was an opening like a small door near the tree in front him. He couldn''t tell what was inside it. He decided to hide in there. Li Chen reached the opening and went inside. Just as he entered, a strange force pulled him in and fell down in the darkness.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!!"
A scream could be heard in the forest. No one would really care. Screams could be heard everyday in the Death Forest. It was a common occurrence.
*Swoosh*
"Ugh............."Li Chen opened his eyes as he held his hand on his head. His head ached.
It was a room. He could hardly see a thing. The room was full of dust and the walls were spider-webbed with cracks . It was as if no one ever came here in a long time. Li Chen saw an exit up front.
"Great! Now what??" his voice echoed through the room.
"Hmmm............this place...."
Li Chen looked everywhere. He knew he had to go ahead and there was no choice. Li Chen started walking in front. His foot stumbled upon something. It was a skull.
"Yup. Dead people. So that''s what it was. I''m pretty sure there''ll be many more ahead"
As Li Chen left the room he was quite surprised. There floor was filled with bones. Li Chen knew he would see dead people but never imagined there would this many. It was a large hall. There were around ten thousand dead people''s'' bones on the ground. Li Chen saw that there was an exit far ahead. He rushed to the exit.
As he left the exit, there was another hall in front of him. It looked like a throne room. There was seat up ahead on a raised platform. The seat was surrounded by bones.
"So this was a King''s Palace?" Li Chen thought to himself but was interrupted in his thoughts as he felt a presence near him.
He felt a fierce killing intent and raised his head to see who it was.
"Hello Little one"
"Welcome to my Tomb!"
The voice echoed throughout the hall.
Chapter 5: Divine Treasures
Li Chen looked up. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He felt the immense killing intent piercing his bones. Even though there was immense pressure, Li Chen didn''t have a hint of fear. Above him in the air was an old man wearing a white robe. It didn''t feel like a real body. Li Chen instantly realized the old man was some sort of a spirit. Some called them ghosts. The old man had savage smile on his face as he glared at Li Chen.
"Oh! Look what we have hear. A little kid lost his way huh? What should I do now? K-Kill?" the old man said.
"Kill?? Me!!???" Li Chen screamed. After hearing the old man, something in him raged out. He had totally lost it. He knew he had no power but he wouldn''t lose face in front of what he thought was a weak spirit. Li Chen''s face was distorted with rage, temper, fury or whatever it was. It was a pure form of anger. As rage consumed him, Li Chen flashed his killing intent towards the man. He had deathly glare.
"Ho! Ho! Ho!........a puny kid with such a killing intent!" the old man was stupefied.
"You old piece of shit!! If it weren''t for this weak body! That tone of your''s, you wouldn''t even DARE!!! " Li Chen''s voice echoed as he roared.
"Oh! My...my....let me see you a bit" the old man muttered as he swiftly rushed towards Li Chen and kept his hand on Li Chen''s head. Li Chen couldn''t move a muscle after the old man kept his hand on his head. He helplessly stood still. Then in an instant the old man''s expression changed. He used his soul power to look into Li Chen''s memories. He had never thought this boy would be demon like himself. He went through his memories in a flash. Finally he understood. This little devil''s history was too sinister. His killing methods were far too cruel than he had ever seen in his life. He understood why this kid was special. The reason was simple. Li Chen''s soul was too strong. The old man let Li Chen go and moved back a few meters. Li Chen didn''t know what to do. What awaited him was most certainly death. It didn''t scare him. Death wasn''t anything new to him. If today he met his end, the least he could do was face it head on.
"Those eyes, even dangerous than mine. Formidable! Formidable!" the old man''s voice reverberated around the room.
Li Chen had no idea what the old man was talking about. All he could do was just stare.
"Kid you are quite the devil. I have taken to a liking to you. After all these years I never thought I could find a successor"
"Successor? Don''t tell me you me you want me to be king of some shady palace? It''s more like a graveyard"
"King? Palace? Hahahahahahahaha"
"What the hell is so funny here that would make you laugh your ass off?? huh??"
"Kid, this is neither a palace nor a graveyard. This is my tomb"
"Tomb? Wait, who are you again?"
"Ho!Ho!Ho! Where are my manners! I have become senile I guess"
At that moment Li Chen started to wonder why all the people he met in this world were mostly stupid. The man in front of him was stupid but a monster. He didn''t want to take chances, so he decided to face the situation with patience. If he were in his prime, the old man in front of him would be dead a long time ago. He didn''t like people who tested his patience. The old man began to speak again.
"My name is Krezul and this is my tomb. I have chosen you as my successor. Be blessed to be the one"
"Blessed? Why should I be blessed?"
"Ha....I guess you don''t know me. I am the mighty Krezul. In my time I was one of the supreme of the supreme experts. Even the mighty experts from the other planes would piss in fear if they heard my name"
"So, what do you want from me? What is this ''successor'' thing?"
"Where there is a tomb, there are treasures. After the experts knew there was a tomb here, they decided to enter the tomb and obtain my treasures. All they knew was between them and the treasures, there would be obstacles. But they could never guess that the obstacle would be me! Hence, all those tens of thousands of so called martial experts perished. With greed there is more chances of death but who wouldn''t want my Divine Treasures"
"Divine treasures? What are those?"
"Listen kid, a treasure to a martial artist can be weapons, skills or artifacts. A treasure of this sort is divided into the categories to differentiate between their level of power. The grades are
Low grade
Medium grade
High grade
Rare
Mystic
God
Divine
Now that you know how they are categorized, let me tell you why Divine Treasures are peak level treasures. From Mystic treasures and above, there is a requirement for the person to use it. It''s power. If the person is weak, he won''t be able to use a Mystic Rank skill or a God Rank skill or even if he is able to use it, the power of the skill will be weak. As they say, even a Low Rank skill in the hands of a powerful expert becomes dangerous and a God Rank skill in the hands of the weak becomes useless. The reason for Divine Treasures to be the highest level is of course because of the power they have but there is still another reason. The reason being unable to understand these treasures. The history and the power of most of the Divine Treasures is unknown. There also lies another mystery which has even eaten the heads of supreme experts. The never ending debate on how to compare two divine treasures. Are the treasures really equal in power? Is there a sub-level within the Divine Treasure category? Is there something higher than this? No one has ever been able to answer these questions. Not even the supreme experts. There have been many experts who have challenged this tomb and have all perished but the only reason why supreme experts never came here was because they never knew that this was the Tomb of Krezul. If they had known, I would have had a hard time here. Well, no one can even have a hint of suspicion that the mighty Krezul would have his tomb in the lower planes. Such imbeciles"
"Then why give me these treasures? You even said there were requirements. As you can see I am weaker than the weakest"
"Kid, experts like me live their whole lives alone. We are full of pride. We never back down a challenge. We never have a legacy. Somewhere we give in to fate, we come to know its time for new age to take over. Some have disciples and some have successors to continue their legacy"
"What makes you think that I''m qualified?"
"I saw the memories of your previous life kid"
"W-What? H-H-How did you..."
"Kid, in my age I was a legend. Only a handful of cultivators could match me in power. This is just too simple for me to do. The way you lived in your previous life, even I the mighty Krezul salutes you! Such power and technique, even the supreme experts couldn''t reach your level in understanding of techniques and skills. Truely formidable. My life is something similar to yours. We both met our end fighting our foe. You killed him without even caring about what would happen next. You took death straight ahead. As for me, I did kill my enemy but didn''t die. I lost most of powers and became weak. I didn''t have much time so I decided this place would be where I rest in peace. I built this tomb, waited for ten thousand years and have finally found myself a successor. As for passing down treasures, some of them can be used by you because your soul is too strong. HaHa! Never thought I would meet a devil like you kid. I''m truly satisfied "
"You can praise me more if you want to"
"Ho! Ho! Listen kid I know you don''t have much patience but there are things you must know first. Some of the things you know about this world are somewhat wrong"
"Hmm? Like what?"
"Like how you think every martial artist is a cultivator. Let me tell you kid, some of the things you understood from the book you read before are wrong. Basically when read it, you couldn''t understand some words right?"
"W-Well, I understood most i-it"
"Let me enlighten you kid, every martial artist isn''t a cultivator. Cultivators are only those martial artists who train and go one to become immortals"
"I-Immortals?"
"Yes, only those who go on to become immortals. Let''s start with the basics. Every martial artist first is tested for elemental affinity. The levels of affinity are low, medium , high and exceptional. The seven elements are fire, water, earth, wind, lightning, light and darkness. With fusing two or more elements or with a higher understanding of elements you can create a modified form of elements or a unique new element of your own. Every martial artist has a choice to make. To become a warrior or a mage. To become a mage you need at least one medium level affinity or two low grade affinities. The difference between a warrior and a mage isn''t much but training in the path of a warrior is ten times more difficult. When battling one on one, a warrior of the same rank as a mage is inferior but that depends on the situation. Nothing is certain. But almost all cultivators know magic because they are both warrior and mage. The supreme experts train both in warrior and mage ways. This is what that makes them supreme experts. There are cultivators who became legends only by training in the way of the warrior due to low affinities or no affinities. Nothing is certain. There are many in this world with exceptional affinities to elements but still they will never reach the supreme level. Listen to me kid, the level of affinities doesn''t matter in the long run. In the road to immortality this is no concern. The main requirement to reach immortality is enlightenment. Some gain this, some don''t in their entire lifetime. The warrior way don''t require affinities. They only need determination and a will that will never bend. Hence, everyone in this world know that training in both the ways will make them stronger and is the easiest path to become immortal. But this really isn''t as simple as they think. Training in the both the ways is extremely exhausting. Some people just give up mid way. So, many experts have created a fused version of both warrior and mage for warriors. This goes way back in history around hundred thousand years ago! This type of martial arts are mostly used by warriors who have affinities with elements but don''t want to train in the ways of the mage. These methods are extremely confusing. The idea of this method is to use the elements and fuse it with their weapons. This method has produced many supreme experts. But again training in both the ways is always the best. This is because after training in both the ways, the fusion type method can be done easily. This is due to the understanding of both the ways. For a warrior of no understanding of the ways of the mage, it will be difficult to use the fusion method. As for your understanding on the profound levels, only the first profound realm has ten levels. After the first level, all the levels have only three sub-levels. They are low, mid and peak. As for the levels, they are
Rudimentary Profound Realm (Beginner)
True Profound Realm (Student)
Nebula Profound Realm (Teacher)
Elite Profound Realm (Captain)
Earth Profound Realm (Commander)
Sky Profound Realm (King)

Origin Profound Realm (Emperor)

Fire Profound Realm (Saint)
Heaven Profound Realm (God)
as for magical beasts, their levels are counted from True Profound Realm. Their ranks vary from 1-9. Rank 1 is considered as True Profound Realm and so on. A magical beast is way more powerful than a martial artist of the same level. Even magical beasts train in their ways and become immortals!"
"Magical beasts can train??!!"
"Yes, but their training methods are different and it doesn''t matter to us. Now don''t ask me why the levels are named in such a level. That would be a meaningless conversation. All you need to know is that you need to train fast to the Heaven Profound Realm. This is the first step to immortality. After you become an immortal then you need to ascend to the higher planes"
"Higher planes?"
"Yes, because the land of the immortals lies in the higher planes. Immortals don''t live in the mortal planes . Well, there is no rule to prohibit them but they just don''t. You will get a better understanding when you venture out to the world. Now I will give these abilities that will benefit you the most right now."
Krezul pointed a finger at Li Chen. A white light projected out and hit Li Chen. Li Chen''s body was enveloped with with light for a few seconds and then vanished. Li Chen didn''t feel any difference.
"I have passed down three of my abilities. The first one is called the ''Third Eye''. It can be used to look through to one''s soul. What this means is that you can see through peoples real emotions. If someone has malicious intent towards you, then they can''t hide from you no matter what acting they display. This can be used to differentiate between friend and foe. For some reason I know this will be too useful for you"
Li Chen smirked.
"Second ability is called ''Camouflage''. You can hide your power level, elemental affinities etc. It also has other uses like becoming invisible and so on. The real advantage of this ability is that no one can find out if you''re hiding something. Not even experts of the Heaven Profound Realm"
"Not even Heaven Profound Realm experts??"
"Yes, once you go on to become more stronger, your soul will also become stronger. As of now you can deceive Heaven Profound Realm experts. But when you yourself reach Heaven Profound Realm, I''m sure only a handful of immortals who are supreme experts can notice this. Then when you one day become a supreme expert, I guess you can imagine the situation"
"This ability is so strong??!"
"Of course. You think a supreme expert like me would have a worthless ability? But the reason for all of this is also your soul. It is just too strong"
"Awesome! What is the third ability??!"
"Ho! Ho! The third ability is called ''Dark Shadow'' This will make you just a shadow. You will have the ability to travel at high speeds in the night. You will also be able to hide your presence. Again not even a Heaven Profound Realm expert can sense your presence. There are other things you can do with this but I''ll let you find out on your own"
"So will you also give me something that will level me up to Heaven Profound Realm??!! Hahahahahahaha"
"Hmph" Krezul snorted.
"I knew you were shameless but experiencing it is truly a different level. No kid I won''t give you power. That is the one thing I won''t do"
"I didn''t want it anyway. I was just joking"
"Hmm. Now that I have told you about the abilities, let me tell you what else I have passed down to you"
"Something else?"
"Yes. I have passed down all my techniques and knowledge to you. You just need to practice them. They are all techniques related to the darkness attribute. Some of them are related to fire attribute"
"Darkness attribute?"
"Yes. I had an exceptional affinity towards darkness and high level affinity to fire. I was arguably the best expert of darkness attribute in the past hundred thousand years"
"B-Best in hundred thousand years??!!"
"Hahahaha...Yes, I was indeed the best"
"Unbelievable"
"There is one more thing I have to tell you. You will have exceptional affinity to darkness, hide it using Camouflage. Darkness affinity of low level can be found for one in a hundred but exceptional ability is nearly one in a million. It''s better to hide it because it will attract a lot of villains. The reason for this, you''ll know later when you understand the situation yourself"
"How do you know I have darkness attribute? Can you also pass down attributes?"
"Well, I didn''t because no one can pass down affinities. But that doesn''t mean this can''t"
Krezul raised his hand and a black pearl came out of thin air. The pearl shot towards Li Chen''s hand. He grabbed it.
"What should I do with this?"
"Swallow it"
"W-What? What is this thing?"
"Its a Divine Black Pearl"
"Divine Black Pearl? What does this do?"
"It will give you an exceptional ability for darkness. It will also restructure your body to transform it into a Divine body"
"Divine body?"
"Yes. Your body is just average and to become a supreme expert would be too difficult. So, the pearl will change your body into a divine one. More knowledge regarding this is also passed down to you. The things I have passed down to you can be used after a few hours. It needs some time to take affect. Kid, the most important thing for you to do first is to hide the fact that you have a divine body. So once again use Camouflage. You will be instantly killed or even kidnapped if anyone comes to that you have a divine body. So, at least until you gain some power, it is best to hide it "
"Okay"
"Oh! By the way change your name. I don''t like it"
"..............."
Li Chen swallowed the pill. He felt energy reverberating in his body.
"Now it is time to bid farewell. It was nice meeting you kid. I know you won''t let me down. I know you will surpass me"
"O-Old man....how...will.....I....ever....repay...." Li Chen felt really dizzy.
"Hahahahaha"
Li Chen lost consciousness. He fell on the ground.
"Well, now I can rest. Finally" Krezul spoke to himself and smiled.

Zoroark Empire
Morning. The sun shone brightly. Somewhere in a forest.
A carriage sped through the road that ran across the forest. It was pulled by a Rank 2 White Wolf. From one of the windows of the carriage, a women gazed upon the forest. She had blue eyes and golden hair. She looked lost in the beauty of the forest. But suddenly she shouted.
"Guards!! Stop the carriage! Right now!"
"Yes Madam!!"
The large carriage stopped. The two guards didn''t know what happened. They saw their madam exit the carriage and ran towards the forest. The two guards followed. Their madam''s safety was more important than their lives. They just didn''t want the situation to be something serious.
The woman ran into the forest and found what she had seen before. It was a little boy. When she saw him she knew he was around two or three years old. The boy was lying on the ground next to a huge tree. She went to him and saw him unconscious. She checked his condition and came to know he was only unconscious and there was nothing serious. But he looked really weak for his age. She could see his bones through his skin. The only reason she could come up with was ''malnutrition''. She held her palm open and a few droplets of water appeared. She sprayed it on his face. The boy woke.
"Ugh.....m-mommy?"
"No child, I''m not your mother. Where are your parents?"
"I-I h-have no daddy. Mommy and me were in the f-forest. W-We were a-attacked by a m-monster. M-M-Mommy d-died"
The tears rolled down his eyes. The boy started to cry. The woman tried consoling him. She knew that even though there were low level magical beasts here, they would still be able to easily kill normal people. This was the Bare Forest. The women saw the boy and felt a chill in her heart.
"No child don''t cry! Please don''t"
For reasons unknown, tears rolled down the woman''s face. She had a saddened expression on her face. The guards didn''t know what was happening. They just couldn''t understand the situation. Suddenly, the woman held the boy firmly.
"Listen child! From today you will have a new mommy! From today I, Lavisa will be your mother!"
"N-New m-m-mommy?" the boy''s little face lit up.
"Oh! What is your name?" Lavisa asked.
"M-My n-name....c-can mommy give a name?? N-N-New mommy, n-new name...."
"Ha! Ha! The idea''s really smart. You really are smart. Well, after all you are my son! Hahahahahahahahahaha" the woman began to laugh out loud.
"M-Mommy!" the boy hugged her.
Once Lavisa saw the smile on the boys face, she knew that she had taken the most wonderful decision in her life.
"Come on. Off we go! Now let me think of a good name. I promise you I''ll give you a nice name before we reach home!"
"O-Okay mommy!"
Lavisa took her son and returned to the carriage. The guards never really grasped what had happened. They weren''t in a position to tell anything either. Once again, the carriage sped across the forest. In the carriage, the boy sat on Lavisa''s lap and gazed out the window. Lavisa was busy thinking of names. The boy had a normal expression on his face. But he was somewhat lost in his thoughts.
"Huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu.........people in this world are really dumb! Man my drama actually made her cry! I''m just too original! Infiltration Complete" Li Chen thought to himself as he had a smirk on his face.

Chapter 6: A New Home
"Zayer! It''s time for dinner! Come down quick!" Oswin shouted.
"Five minutes!"
"Don''t make me come up!"
"Okay dad! Relax! I''m coming!"
Zayer hurried down from his room to the dining hall. He ran through the corridor. The maids watched him run and smiled. They really liked Zayer. He was always happy and full of energy. After seeing him, their spirits would raise up. Zayer reached the dining hall. At the table he saw his two brothers already seated. His father saw him and signaled him to take a seat. The maids finally arranged everything on the table. His mother arrived a few moments after him and took a seat.
"Zayer you have to come early next time. How many times do I have to tell you?"
"Sorry dad" Zayer had a childish smile on his face.
"Sigh" Oswin saw his son''s expression and gave up. He saw his wife smiling. As usual his two other sons were quarreling about something. He started a conversation with his wife. It was just another normal day.
The dinner continued.

Li Chen POV
The meat is delicious. This is what they call heaven I guess. It''s been three years since I came to Zoroark Empire. Now I am a person with a new identity. I am Zayer Demonte. I am now part of the reputed Demonte Clan of the Zoroark Empire. My family including me consists of five people. The person in front of me is Oswin Demonte, my father and beside me is my mother Lavisa Demonte. I have two brothers. The older one is Theron Demonte, he is fifteen years old. My second brother is Sojul, he is fourteen. This family is really lively. The Demonte Clan belongs to the big three of the empire and holds major authority in the Zoroark Empire. The reason for this goes back in history to five hundred years ago. Supposedly, the ancestors of the Big three clans had helped the royal family during the civil war. Even after five hundred years, the royal family still holds regards. Now after so many years the clans have become the pillars of strength of the Zoroark Empire. Moreover, there are no feuds between the clans. First I thought that this was preposterous. But then I came to know why there was so much peace in this country. Firstly, long ago the three clans thought there would be a day when feuds would erupt between the clans. To avoid such a situation, they could only think of one idea. They decided that their descendants would marry a person only from one of the three clans. They knew this would bring the three clans closer and would become a one big family. Second, the patriotism in this empire was out of bounds. Anyone would lay down their life if it was for the safety of their empire. Third, the emperor of the Zoroark empire was the absolute symbol of power and justice. Every citizen of the empire worships the Emperor. It''s like they''re brainwashed. I should find out more about this matter.
The Gaspra Realm consists for four empires. Zoroark, Klosom , Yellow Shield and the Blue Eagle. Yellow Shield and Blue Eagle are considered the bottom two and the Zoroark and Klosom are considered the top two. The bottom two can in no way can be compared to the top two. The top two empires Zoroark and Klosom are rivals and bitter enemies. Many wars were fought but no side could topple the other. The war would always reach a stalemate. But at the present, Zoroark is considered the most powerful empire. This is because of the current emperor. As for Klosom, days don''t look good as the empire is plagued with corruption. There are even chances of a civil war.
Demonte Clan resides in the Demonte City. The clan members are really strong when compared to the Li Sect. They''re on a whole new level. The clan is currently headed by my father''s elder brother, Kladus Demonte. Though he isn''t the strongest in the clan but the position of the head was still given to him. I heard this was because my father didn''t want to head the clan. By the way, my father is considered the strongest in the clan. I thought Kladus would be hostile towards my father but I was wrong. I used my Third Eye to see through him. I was shocked when I came to know that all he felt was love towards his brother. He was a proud elder brother. Then I wanted use my Third Eye and find some scheming people in the clan. So, I used it and I found none. Then I started to doubt whether something was wrong with my Third Eye. There was nothing wrong with my ability. Finally, I came in terms with the truth. I really wanted some bad people in the clan. It would be fun playing with them. Well, I guess I won''t find them here.
Three years ago I was lying on the ground in a forest. The place felt different. I knew it wasn''t the Death Forest. The aura of the surroundings was different. I figured that Krezul teleported me to a different place. Whatever happened to Tao Yan and Yu Qin. Who cares. My whole bone structure inside was changing. I guess it was because of the pearl. I looked really weak. I had no plans or whatsoever. I started walking in a random direction. I reached a road. I hid behind a tree. I thought I could ambush someone. Survival was the key. So I laid on the ground near a tree beside the road and waited. After a long time, a carriage passed. I knew the woman inside saw me. Then I heard a shout from the carriage. The woman along with her guards came near me. I pretended to be unconscious. She used some water out of nowhere and splashed it on my face. I pretended to wake up. The play had begun. It was time for me to enter the stage. I guess my acting display was so good that she started to cry. My plan was a success. There I met my mother Lavisa Demonte. After a few hours we reached a mansion. This was my new home and three years have passed in a blink of an eye. A have a family who love me too much. I don''t know how much longer I must put up with this act. But I must say, I have begun to enjoy my life. Again I feel like royalty. So many maids and servants. They''ll do any task you ask them to do. I utilize my position really well. My luck in this world is just too good. Huhuhuhuhuhuhu.
My brothers are going back to the academy again after a few days. They both have exceptional affinity to fire element. Theron also has two medium level affinities to water and wind. Sojul has a medium level affinity to earth and a low level affinity to water. Both of them are considered the geniuses of the generation and are tipped to lead the clan in the future. They go to the number one academy in this world. The Star Fire Academy. They only take the elite. The academy lies on an island. I heard that it''s so big that it can be called as a small continent. This territory does not belong to any of the empires. The territory is governed by the Merchant Guild. It is also called the trade capital of the world. Many other academies also reside on the island but Star Fire Academy reigns supreme. Well things look good for the moment. The only problem in my life right life is that old hag Verona. She is my grandmother. That b***h is just too extreme. She seems to have taken a liking to me and plans to train me. I''m kind of worried about her methods. I heard she is one of the elders of the clan and has tremendous power. I don''t know what the future holds for me.

After what happened three years ago, I started to test my abilities. I also found out why Krezul sent me here to the Zoroark Empire. He left me a location. I think there are some treasures he wanted to give me. Well, I''m in no hurry to go there. I''ll check it out after a few years. I have knowledge about all techniques and methods of cultivation but it will be difficult to advance to later profound realms because I have a Divine Body. It''s a double edged sword. Krezul also left me a riddle. I think he meant for me to solve it. I''m not really interested. I secretly started my training a year ago. I have started meditating and started my intake of Qi. For a warrior and a mage the cultivation method is the same. It is meditation. Through meditation a cultivator takes in Qi from the surroundings. Schools like Star Fire Academy only accepts students who have reached True Profound Realm. They also have other requirements such as at least one medium level affinity or higher. Mages in this continent can have any number of affinities. Those who have affinities to all elements are considered to be geniuses who are likely to be born once in a hundred years. Those with more number of affinities are usually favored more. To break through to next levels of the profound realms, the warrior and mage should face a situation that would stimulate the Qi in their body to reach the next level. These kind of situations are usually life and death situations. Hence to make a break through, only training is not the right path.
As of now I am in the fifth level of the Rudimentary Profound Realm. Training with a divine body is many times harder but the results do pay off. Even though I am in the fifth level of the Rudimentary Profound Realm, I think I am on par with eight level practitioners of the Rudimentary Profound Realm. Now I can use two of the basic spells of darkness attribute. Right now, I only want to train in the ways of the mage. The ways of the warrior can wait. I''m still thinking of ways to use my methods of my previous world here but all of my attempts have been been a failure. I started to realize that I''m not understanding something. I think what I need is enlightenment. And I have no idea when I''ll gain that. I have four years of time. When I become ten, I will have to take the Elemental Affinity Test. Usually, everyone are tested at the age of twelve in the academies. There they will know what their future holds. But the major clans do a testing on their own for the new generation at the age of ten. Then they are nurtured in the clan for the next two years before being sent off to the academies. Basically, only the commoners and the nobles that belong to the lower clans get tested at the age of twelve. I''m sure in the next four years I''ll make some breakthroughs but I''ll take it easy and slowly advance. There is no hurry.
Morning. I came out of my room to get some fresh air. I saw a wooden stick which was around two feet and half an inch thick. I held the stick in my hand like a sword. I did some casual swings with it. I held it in my hand and went for walk in the gardens. Towards one end of the garden were trees. It was like a small forest that extended for about a kilometer. I walked past some of the trees and saw some birds. Most likely the birds were flitting from tree to tree, chirping at each other and battling over the best roosting sights. Then I realized how different types for creatures in existence would live together in nature. Even though there was a food chain, not one type of them were extinct. It was as if they lived in harmony.
Harmony.
Harmony.
Harmony.
"Harmony!!" Li Chen exclaimed.
"That''s it!! They only way to use my old methods is through harmonization. My techniques need to become one with the surroundings and I am must be the link!" Li Chen spoke to himself.
He stood in front of a tree. He took the horse stance and closed his eyes. He held the wooden stick in his right hand and pointed it front towards the tree. He started to breathe in and breathe out.
"The key is....Harmony" Li Chen thought to himself.
After a few moments of concentration, he opened his eyes. Qi started to flow from his body to the stick. It was now completely enveloped with his Qi. He raised his right hand and prepared to swing forward towards the tree. He thought of using one of the basic forms he knew.
"Vajra Style: Sublime Cut!"
Li Chen swung the stick in the air. The tree stood still. He wanted the Qi in the stick to strike the tree and not the stick itself. He always liked to do a countdown.
"3..........2..........1!"
An exact half of the tree fell forward towards Li Chen. The other half fell backwards. The tree was split exactly in half. It was so precise. Such beauty in the skill. It could make even the experts cry in joy.
Li Chen had a smirk on his face.
"Hmmm. I''ll get addicted like this. I guess I won''t be able to resist myself from training in the ways of the warrior"
"That really isn''t a problem. The real problem is I don''t enjoy slicing through trees. I need some moving and live targets"
His face now was very ugly to behold.
Chapter 7: Elemental Affinity Test
Four years have passed since Li Chen cut down the tree. Li Chen is now ten years old. Today is an important day for the Demonte Clan. Today is the day Zayer Demonte takes his Elemental Affinity Test. The maids were in a real hurry. They needed to make sure whether all the arrangements were done perfectly. Lavisa was in high spirits. She couldn''t wait to see the results. She had already made up her about her son''s future. She didn''t mind if he had bad affinities. She would just make him train in the ways of the warrior. She was currently in her room getting ready for the ceremony. After a while, she looked at herself in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction. She left her room and started to rush down the stairs.
"Lavisa, where are you going?"
Lavisa turned back and saw her husband Oswin.
"Dear, I''m going to check up on Zayer. He may be really nervous about the whole thing"
"HaHa! No need to worry! I''m sure he''s confident!"
"Wait, did you go meet him?"
Oswin''s face became slightly red in embarrassment and turned to look away.
"Hmph" Lavisa snorted and went downstairs.
"Acting all high and mighty but you were worried yourself" Lavisa thought to herself as there was a smile on her face. She couldn''t help but think how much Oswin dotted on his son.
Lavisa reached Zayer''s room and saw the door open. She helped herself in.
"Oh! Mom what are you doing here?" Li Chen asked.
"Zayer I came to check on you. You know today is a really important day. Don''t be nervous, mommy will take you there herself." Lavisa calmly said.
"Why should I be nervous? If I have bad affinities then I''ll train in the ways of the warrior. No need to worry"
"Ho! My little boy has really matured up. Okay come on lets go. Grand Ma Verona will be waiting. It''s best we go early and not make her wait" Lavisa was so happy to see her son act so mature. Now she had no concerns. If her son really did have bad affinities, he was strong enough mentally to come in terms with it. Lavisa and her son walked out of the room and headed towards the community hall where the test was going to take place. All the members of the clan are to gather there for the ceremony. Theron, Sojul and the other younger generation won''t be present as there are in their respective academies. Usual the ceremony would be a minor affair but today the third son of the strongest person in the clan was taking the test. Everyone were excited to see what kind of a person his son was.
Li Chen had been training in the ways of the warrior for four years. He reached the Nebula Profound Realm eight months ago. As of now, he was in the mid stage of the Nebula Profound Realm in the ways of the warrior. He gave less attention to training in the ways of the mage. He reached True Profound Realm a year ago and didn''t train again. If he were to train in his usual abnormal pace, he would have made more breakthroughs in these four years but he decided not to. He chose to take it slow. Two days ago he decided to use Camouflage Ability to use suppress his affinity to darkness element. He couldn''t guess what other affinities he had. He had used the methods to sense the element of fire but he had failed. So, he now knew that he didn''t have the affinity to fire. There were other ways to know what affinities he had but he really wasn''t interested. He was too lazy to perform all those experiments that he gained knowledge of through Krezul. So, he decided to keep himself in suspense. Like all the other people he would just take the test and find out what destiny had for him.
Li Chen and Lavisa walked through the gardens and finally reached the community hall. The hall was built next to the gardens. It was a two storey building but was too large. It was painted in white and looked like very new. They walked up the steps to the entrance of the hall. Once they entered the hall they saw many of the clans men in their seats. There were around thousand seats. Many of the people present here were from the branch families. Everyone were engaged in a conversation and the atmosphere looked very much pleasant. As they walked to end of the hall, everyone''s gaze fell upon Li Chen. There was curiosity in their minds. They wanted to know if he would be a genius of the clan.
The ceremony was to be conducted for two others from the younger generation. Lavisa told Li Chen to head up the platform where the other two were already present. The elders were already waiting on the platform with the crystal ball. The crystal ball would tell what affinity a person had when they would place their hand on top of it. When someone kept his or her hand on top of it, the ball would glow. For fire affinity it would glow red, for water it glow blue, for earth it would glow brown, for air it would glow green, for lightning it would glow yellow, for light it would glow white and for darkness it would glow black. The level of affinities depended on the intensity of the glow. For exceptional level affinity there would be sparks emerging out of the ball in their respective color. Now, everyone had gathered in the hall. They were waiting for Verona Demonte. She was the most important person as she would be the person to carry out the ceremony. Li Chen stood behind the other two who were also to be tested. They both turned around and looked at him with a smile. Li Chen returned a smile in courtesy. Out of the two one was a boy and the other was a girl. The boy was about to ask something and opened his mouth but suddenly,
"Silence!!!" the elders shouted.
Everyone seated in the hall looked back as Verona Demonte had arrived. She flew through the hall and reached the platform. She looked at Li Chen and had a smirk on her face.
Li Chen gulped. Everyone''s attention was now towards the platform as the ceremony was about to begin. Oswin and Lavisa were seated in the front seats. Kladus sat next to Oswin. They both looked really exited. Verona took the crystal ball and placed it on the table in front. She looked at the hall and shouted
"Let the ceremony begin!!"
One of the elders yelled "Lucius Demonte!"
As he called out the name the boy in front of Li Chen moved forward towards the crystal ball.
"Child, place your right hand on the crystal ball" Verona said.
"Yes Elder!" the boy replied.
He kept his right hand on the ball. After a few seconds the ball started to glow red.
"Medium level affinity to Fire! " Verona shouted as her voice resonated the walls. Everyone seated were happy for the boy. Medium level affinity was the basic requirement for having a good future prospect.
After a few seconds the red glow disappeared and the ball had a faint glow of brown color. Then the glow became brighter and brighter and then stopped.
"Medium level affinity to Earth! " Verona shouted. Again everyone were really happy. They saw the boy had two medium level affinities. His branch family would definitely benefit from having such a talent.
The glow stopped and the crystal finally returned to being normal.
"Lucius Demonte! Two medium level affinities. Fire and Earth!" Verona shouted. The boy bowed to elder and left the platform.
There was an applause in the crowd. Everyone began to cheer as one man stood up from the crowd and yelled
"That''s my boy!!"
Most probably it was his father. He was really happy. After hearing his statement many began to laugh in their seats.
"Silence!!" the elders shouted together in a voice.
Once again there was pin drop silence in the crowd. One of the elder then called the name.
"Serena Demonte!"
As the elder called out the name, the girl moved forward towards the crystal ball.
"Child, place your right hand on the crystal ball" Verona spoke.
"Yes Elder! " the girl replied.
The girl then placed her hands on the crystal ball. After a few seconds, there was a bright glow for brown color. It was much brighter than the boy''s before.
"High Level affinity to Earth! " Verona said.
As the clans men heard what Verona said they were surprised.
"OH!!!!" many of the people present reacted. To have a high level affinity suggested that the person could be on par with a low level genius. Kladus almost shouted in surprise. To find high level affinities in the branch families was really rare.
The glow in the crystal ball dissipated and after a few moments there was a faint blue glow. The glow started to brighten up and finally stopped. The radiance of the glow was on the same level as the previous one.
Verona was shocked. The elders who stood before her were also stupefied.
"High Level affinity to Water!!" Verona shouted.
"Huh?!!" a sound could be heard in unison from the crowd. The clans men would erupt in any moment now but then suddenly
"Now I have no worries about my daughter. She will get a good groom!" a man shouted.
Everyone in the hall began to laugh.

On the platform, the girl''s face flushed red. She was too embarrassed because of her father.
"Hahaha.....our new generation looks solid doesn''t it brother?" Kladus laughingly asked Oswin.
"It sure is big brother. I could never think of expecting such a result"
"Yes! Yes! After all this we totally forget about my nephew! We should quickly see his too! Who knows what kind of a genius he is!? Huh?" Kladus was too excited.
"Yes, let us wait and watch brother" Oswin replied. He prayed for his son to have a good affinity. He saw Zayer and gave him a thumbs up. Zayer nodded back with a smile.
"Silence!!" the elders shouted.
"Serena Demonte! Two high level affinities. Earth and Water!!" Verona spoke.
Everyone in the crowd stood up and started to clap. They gave this much respect as a genius had been born in the clan.
"You have good talent child. Don''t waste it. Train hard. You can come to me if you have any difficulties" Verona said.
"Yes Elder!" the girl replied in satisfaction. Then she exited the platform and went towards her dad in the crowd.
"Silence!!" the elder again yelled.
Now it was time for the main event. Everyone looked cautiously at the platform.
Then again one of the elders called out the name.
"Zayer Demonte!!" the elder yelled.
Li Chen walked towards the crystal ball.
"Hello Zayer" Verona spoke.
"Hello, Verona" Li Chen replied.
The elders who stood before Verona stared in disbelief. He had called the most influential person in the clan by her name. He was her grandson but to call her just by her name, not single one in the clan would dare to do that. They kept silent as they saw that Verona herself didn''t say anything. Only some people in the front row could hear this.
Kladus chuckled.
"Brother, this is the thing I like about him the most! He has guts!" Kladus spoke.
"Yes brother! He''s doing all the things which we could never do!" Oswin replied.
Lavisa seeing both of them said " I just hope the gods will favor him". She clapped her hands and started to pray.
Both the brothers looked at each other and began to have a light laugh. But this stopped in an instant. They could feel killing intent towards them. As they looked towards the platform, their mother was giving a deathly glare towards them. Both the brothers gulped. They became silent.
"Enough, now place your hand on the ball" Verona said.
"Yes" Li Chen responded and placed his hand on the ball.
The crystal ball after a few seconds gave out dim black glow. Verona was shocked. One of the elders behind almost fell down on the ground.
"Low level affinity to Darkness!" Verona shouted.
"Oh!!" the crowd yelled in unison.
As soon as everyone heard what Verona said, there was chaos in the hall. In the past hundred years not a single member of the clan had tested positive for the element of darkness.
"Oh my god!! I can''t believe it!!" Lavisa exclaimed. Li Chen was quite surprised seeing the look on his mother''s face and thought he had done the right thing in suppressing his affinity.
Both Kladus and Oswin were shocked.
"Brother, looks like Zayer is special huh?" Kladus asked
"Yes big brother but I want him to have another affinity which is at least at medium level. Then his future will be really good." Oswin replied.
"Yes! " Kladus nodded.
Then the dark glow was totally gone. After that a green grow started to appear in the ball. The glow was really bright. Verona had a smile on her face.
"High Level affinity to Wind!" Verona said.
Again there was chaos in the crowd. High level affinity meant he would be one of the strong martial artists in the future.
"Thank you god! Thank you!" Lavisa was really happy.
"Haha! Look brother my nephew is a genius!" Kladus said.
"Yes! Yes! After all, whose son is he? huh?" Oswin had smirk on his face.
But his expression changed quickly as he was elbowed from the side. It was Lavisa.
"Well, I guess I have good luck. This much is enough I guess. Wait what??" Li Chen thought to himself.
There was another glow from the crystal ball. It was yellow in color. The elders had enough but now they would faint any moment. Verona looked at it very seriously because the glow was becoming brighter. It became too bright. Verona had her doubts but all of those were answered in a moment as sparks came out of the ball.
"E-E-Exceptional affinity!!!!" Lavisa shouted as her voice echoed in the hall. Both Kladus and Oswin had their mouths open and looked lost.
"OH!!"
"Amazing!!!"
"Impossible!!"
These were some of the reactions from the crowd.
"Exceptional affinity to lightning!!!" Verona proudly said as she had a wide smile on her face.
The crowd stood up and gave a big round of applause. They all cheered. Li Chen was amazed himself but he had enough of this. The glow dissipated and the ball returned to being normal.
"Zayer Demonte. Low level affinity to Darkness! High Level affinity to Wind! Exceptional ability to Lightning!" Verona shouted proudly.
The crowd once again stood up clapping and cheered.
Li Chen was about to exit the platform but was stopped by Verona.
"Congratulations Zayer! You are indeed a genius. Now all that''s left is to train you myself"
"W-What?"
"Oh! You didn''t know I had a high level affinity to lightning?" Verona had a smile on her face.
Li Chen saw the expression on her face. It was the most treacherous smile he had seen in this life.
"Now why should Grand Ma over exert herself? I''m sure there are plenty other experts who will be able to teach me" Li Chen said as he wanted to dodge the situation.
"Look who''s calling me ''Grand Ma" now. Get ready. Tomorrow we shall begin your training" Verona said with a fierce expression.
Li Chen gulped.
"O-Okay" Li Chen replied and hurriedly exited the platform.
He saw his mother with tears rolling down her face.
"Zayer!!" Lavisa jumped towards Li Chen and hugged him.
"I''m so happy Zayer! You will be a genius along with your brothers! You will become one of the pillars of the clan!"
"Now don''t bore him Lavisa" Oswin said.
"It''s okay dad, if mom''s happy then it''s okay" Li Chen replied.
"Hmph. I always knew you were a mamma''s boy!" Oswin was slightly displeased.
"Don''t start fighting already brother! Zayer congratulations!! I am so happy for you!" Kladus spoke.
"Thank You Uncle!" Li Chen happily replied.
"Now let''s all go and celebrate!" Kladus exclaimed as everyone followed him.
Everyone in the hall were very satisfied with the results. They had watched something truly amazing. Now, they all went out to celebrate.

Chapter 8: Blissful Training
The Elemental Affinity Test had just concluded. The clans men went back to their regular routine. Today was the day after the ceremony. Today was special for Li Chen. Today was the promised day for Verona to start training Li Chen. Li Chen was nervous when he went to sleep last night. When he came to Demonte Clan seven years ago, he had never thought they would accept him just like all the other blood relatives. He had equal status like everyone else. He couldn''t quite understand the situation. After some time he managed to ask his mother, Lavisa about the situation. Lavisa laughingly cleared all of his doubts. Supposedly, the three clans formed the main part of the army during the wars fought around three hundred years ago. A significant part of their core members of the three clans died during the wars. If the situation persisted for long, then in a few years the three clans would perish. Hence they came up with a genius idea to adopt children. They spent years training them. The results of their hard work paid off. Some of these children would go on to change the course of war many years in the future. Some of them are even remembered today. This after many years became a tradition. After all these years it still continues. Hence, when Lavisa came home with Li Chen, everyone welcomed him with open arms. After the ceremony, everyone knew Li Chen would one day be a legendary figure from the clan.
Mount Vernius
Five Hundred Kilometers West of Demonte City
Dawn. The sun rose in a pool of crimson and gold, spilling light over the land and the white clouds. The whole landscape bathed in the warm glow of the rising sun. A flock of birds flew through the mountain. From a closer look, you could confirm they were Rank 2 Pearl Pigeons. The morning wind was too cold. Below the mountain were two people. One laid on the ground unconscious and the other was cross legged meditating. It was Li Chen and Verona.
"Uh....." Li Chen got up from his sleep shivering.
"W-Where am...."
"Good Morning Zayer" said Verona opening her eyes in the meditative posture.
"V-Verona?"
"It''s about time you got up. It''s a good think you got up on your own or I would have beaten you up"
"Where are we?" Li Chen asked looking up the mountain.
"We are here to start your training"
"I''m not even in my training clothes.I need to....."
"Blah Blah Blah! Just shut your trap! Don''t utter a word and just follow my orders"
Li Chen was silent. The thing in front of him wasn''t human, it was a monster. He had to submit this time.
Li Chen gulped.
"Now let''s begin!"
Verona walked towards the mountain and looked at Li Chen.
"You will climb this mountain and then come back here. This will be your routine. You have to do this five times"
"Five times?"
"Yes, going up and coming back down. You have do this five times. You will not your use Qi"
"Qi? How can I use Qi? I have yet to..."
"Don''t play games with me. You think I don''t know you used to meditate in your room at night?"
"Oh shit! How did this b***h find out? She is really a big headache!" Li Chen thought in his mind.
"Uh..I-I did train only for a f-few days"
"I know. You were too lazy. You gave up too easily. But worry not, I will make sure you ascend to the right path. Now, which level have you reached?"
"I-I-I......"
"Don''t you dare play games with me Zayer!" Verona was fuming.
"This b***h!!!! I''ll definitely make her regret this one day!" Li Chen thought to himself.
"I-I have reached t-third level of Rudimentary Profound Realm"
"Good. I can sense only that from you body. Finally I can conclude you''re not hiding anything else"
"Camouflage. Camouflage. Camouflage. If it weren''t for this then I would have..... Oh Krezul! I will forever be in your debt" Li Chen thought to himself.
With a flick of the wrist, a red colored whip came out of thin air in the Verona''s hands.
"This is a Blood Whip. It''s is a mystic level treasure. If you even use a tiny bit of your Qi, I''ll whip your body. Now start!"
"Y-Yes" Li Chen began to ready himself.
"I''ll be watching you Zayer"
"Oh! I forgot tell you, the gravity is several times normal!" Verona had smile on her face.
Li Chen chuckled. He didn''t dare utter a word. He started to think that he had completely used up all his luck.
He started to climb the mountain. He could get a good footing as the the mountain wasn''t too steep. Also there was so much of vegetation on the mountain. It almost looked like a forest. Li Chen''s body wasn''t great at all but now he had no choice. After a few hours he actually managed to finish the course three times. He had spent all his energy and was almost exhausted to death. He started to climb the mountain again. After an hour, he started to lose consciousness but he still wouldn''t give up. As he passed through the trees he saw an iron rod struck through the ground. He decided to use it like a stick to support his body. He pulled it out and held it with both of his hands. He started to climb again. There were many bruises all over his arms and his knee caps. He had fallen down quite a few times already. Li Chen had almost lost his consciousness as something bizarre happened. As a drop of blood fell on the iron rod from his hands, it contracted and vanished in thin air. Li Chen didn''t realize what had happened as was already unconscious. He fell down on the ground yet again.
"Hmmm. Not bad. He could do it three times" Verona thought in her mind as she flew towards Li Chen to bring him back down.
"Ugh............" Li Chen opened his eyes.
He got up and saw it was already nightfall. Verona was a few meters away sitting crossed legged and meditating. He felt too tired and fell really hungry.
"Finally you woke up. It''s been a few hours since you were sleeping" said Verona.
"Think we can go home now? I think we trained too much today"
"Home? Train? We are yet to start your training and you already want to quit?"
"We did train today. Remember in the morning?"
"That wasn''t a part of your training"
"Then what was that?"
"That was just me checking your determination"
".............."
The lingering light was obliterated by the rapidly falling night. The once salmon and purple sky had transformed into a vast expanse of jet black that engulfed the region. A canopy of luminous stars materialized in the ocean of blackness. Some were dull, merely flickering into existence every now and then, but there was an adequate amount of shimmering stars to illuminate the dark, moonless night.
"Verona, you have anything to eat?"
Seeing the spatial ring on Verona''s finger, Li Chen thought there were high chances of food being stored in the ring. Verona to his surprise took out a pill. The pill was blue in color. She threw to towards Li Chen and he caught it.

"Swallow it"
"What is this?"
"Just swallow it" said Verona as she glared at Li Chen.
Li Chen didn''t show any signs of protest and just did what he asked to do. After he swallowed the pill, his body was back in peak condition in a few minutes and there no hint of fatigue in his body.
"Amazing!!" Li Chen exclaimed.
"And now we will start your training" Verona had a smile on her face.
"What??!!!"
"Don''t worry Zayer. You will do only meditation training"
"Oh. Okay, so where do I start?"
"We''ll go to the mountain peak"
"Peak? Now? It''ll be very cold at such altitude. I can just sit here and start"
"No. You will sit there and meditate. There is a reason why I''m making you do that. That place has Lightning Type Divine Energy"
"Lightning Type Divine Energy?"
"Yes. Sometimes there appear locations were the Qi and the elements fuse. This happens due to several reasons like weather, terrain etc. This type of energy is useful to martial artists who are in their beginner stages of training. As you advance further it becomes really hard and nearly impossible to suck in this energy. So, high level martial artists don''t bother about this as it may not be of much use to them and anyone who wants to use this energy must have at least high level affinity. These sights are really rare. The main advantages of this include gaining more control over your element. Some martial artists have even succeeded in forming weapons with their element!"
"Weapon formed from an element?"
"Yes, it''s just your element in the form of a weapon. This shows how proficient they are in using their element. Now, as to how much you improve in your abilities depends on your talent. Remember, you have only one chance to do this. Once you try and fail there won''t be another chance as the energy will disappear.
"I''ll try my best!"
"That''s the spirit! Now let me see how much of a genius my grand son is. Quick hold my hand"
As Li Chen went to hold her hand, Verona sped towards him and held him by the waist.
"......................."
"Let''s fly"
Verona shot upwards holding Li Chen towards the top of the mountain. In a few moments there were at the peak.
"There is some strange energy in the air!"
"Yes, this is what I told you about" said Verona as she started drawing a formation on the ground.
"You will meditate in the middle of the formation"
"O-Okay" said Li Chen as he was about sit cross legged on the ground.
"Don''t sit down. You have to stand"
"What?? I have to stand and meditate??"
"Yes but it''s a little different, so just follow my instructions. Okay?"
"Okay"
"Now watch me and do the same. Place all your weight on your left leg. Bend your right knee and place place your right foot on your inner left thigh. See this?"
(Note: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vriksasana this is the posture for people who didn''t get it :D )
"That''s weired. Will I really be able to stand long in this cold?"
"Just do it"
"Okay"
Li Chen stood in the posture shown by Verona.
"Good. Now concentrate and feel the essence of your element. Then start taking in the energy"
"Okay" Li Chen said as he closed his eyes and began to concentrate.
After a few moments Verona started to see minute particles of the divine energy entering Li Chen''s body.
"Excellent!! He grasped it very quickly! As to how much he''ll gain, it will depend on his talent. I just have to wait and watch how long he''ll last. I''m thinking around four months. Let''s see" Verona thought to herself.
Time flowed like a river. Seasons continued to pass. The mountain was quiet and Li Chen just stood there in a trance.
"I guess that''s it. I have taken in all the energy left here" Li Chen thought to himself as opened his eyes. He freed himself from the posture and sat down. He felt a presence nearby and looked backwards. It was his grand mother Verona.
"Verona!"
"Hahaha! Looks like you took in all the energy which was here! Excellent! I''m so proud of you Zayer!" Verona was tremendously happy.
Li Chen had never seen Verona like this. He realized that her happiness was indeed genuine. He smiled back at her calmly.
"Yes, I feel I have really improved by leaps and bounds"
"I was actually beginning to get worried about you. You have to leave to the academy in two months!"
"What? Two months? Verona I''m still ten"
"That was almost two years ago"
"Two years ago??? You mean for almost two years I just stood here meditating?"
"Yup! Even I couldn''t believe it! I knew you had tremendous potential but after watching this I realized you are a sheer genius! Haha!"
"So in two months huh? Well, I guess that can''t be helped. By the way, when I was climbing the mountain two years ago I found an iron rod. It actually fused with me. I can form any type of a weapon. Look!"
Out of thin air in Li Chen''s hands appeared a sword. It was jet black in color.
"Oh!!" Verona exclaimed.
"How did you get this?? Where exactly did you find it??"
"I don''t know I just found it somewhere on the mountain"
"Your luck is really good. I think you found yourself a Mystic Level treasure! As for what it is I really have no idea"
"Now can you try anything with your Lightning? I know you haven''t trained in the element but give it a try"
"Let''s see. I haven''t really tried anything. This will be my first try!"
Li Chen pointed a finger upwards and channeled some Qi to his fingers and started to gather the lightning essence into his finger tip. Then all of a sudden to vines of lightning shot upwards coiling around each other. It was around ten meters in height.
"A-Amazing!! I have never seen someone do something this bizarre!!"
Li Chen then moved his finger freely in the air and the vines of lightning also moved as if it were stuck to his fingers.
"Nice!" Li Chen was amazed himself
"Zayer your training paid off! I never expected such a result!"
"Well, if it weren''t for Grand Ma Verona bringing me here how would I become this amazing? huh?"
"Hahahahaha! After all you are my grand son. You should at least be on this level right? Hahahaha!"
"................." Li Chen had a blank expression on his face.
"Come on! Let''s head home now. Everyone is really worried about you! Quick!" Verona said as she held Li Chen and flew away.
There it stands above, a vastness one can imagine of what lies beyond, with it''s whimsical clouds in a partial canopy, playing hide and seek with the sun. Pools of sunshine streamed through, leaving a heavenly glow below as a beam of light shot away in the distance. The beam of light was Verona holding Li Chen against her as she flew away towards the Demonte City.
Chapter 9: Departure
Chapter 9: Departure
It''s been five days since Zayer''s return. His parents were quite worried about him. Oswin himself wanted to check on him but was denied by Verona. She insisted it was an extremely important stage of his training and no one was to disturb him. The Lightning Divine Energy was indeed worth the concern. It had completely transformed Zayer''s control over the Lightning element. Though he did not gain power, he did gain control. With this if he gained enough power, he would be nearly invincible. Only Verona knew the importance of his training. But after witnessing his results, she was dumbstruck. She thought whatever knowledge she had about the Lightning Divine Energy was only the the tip of the ice berg. Aside from Verona and Zayer, no one else knew what kind of training Zayer had undergone. It was meant to be kept as a secret as it would attract quite a lot of attention from everywhere around the Empire if the news were to leak.
Zayer began his training once again. He decided it was time to seriously start his training. He wanted to try the Forbidden Arts. He had all the knowledge regarding these techniques. It was passed on to him by Krezul. The Forbidden Arts was a name given by the experts who had witnessed these techniques. These techniques were despised by everyone in the Gaspra Realm. This was because The Forbidden Arts was practiced by martial experts who had the affinity to darkness element. These techniques were mainly used to increase one''s cultivation by killing other people. If a martial expert used Forbidden Arts then he could gain power without having the trouble to train and could just kill other martial artists and steal their cultivation. The use of Forbidden Arts was banned throughout the Gaspra Realm. Any martial artist practicing such methods was to be sentenced to death. Such laws existed in all the Empires of the Gaspra Realm. The Forbidden Arts wasn''t just limited to stealing cultivation. It also had methods to perform a Devil''s Contract. Through this contract a martial artist could provide assistance to any one in exchange for something. The biggest advantage of this contract was that the person who signed it could never cheat as once he would sign it, his soul would be under the eyes of the Mourning Souls of the Under World. Once he would break the the terms of the contract, his soul would be extracted by the Mourning Souls of the Underworld and be handed over to the martial artist who wrote the contract. Once the soul was handed over, the martial artist could use it for his gains. If he were to keep the soul or destroy it then the soul would not go through the cycles of rebirth and it would be forever lost. As to what the Mourning Souls of the Underworld were, no one had a clue. Also, the person who signed it could never break the contract but the same rule never applied to the person who wrote it. Hence, most of the practitioners who wrote the contract would intentionally break the contract by tearing the parchment of paper on which the contract was written. No matter who broke the contract, the person who signed it would die. So, the practitioners who wrote it would gain a soul with ease and use it for practicing the Forbidden Arts. If a practitioner collected enough souls he could use the Forbidden Arts to create magic spells way beyond their power. The Devil''s Contract peaked Zayer''s interest. He intended to use this method to perform some experiments as he could get souls. But the use of Forbidden Arts was another secret he had to keep. Twelve years old and his life was full of secrets.
Two months passed in a blink of an eye. It was now time for Zayer to leave home and go on to study in the Academy. His brothers had graduated last year and had long gone adventuring to get a grasp of the outside world. Oswin gave Zayer a spatial ring. Inside it was a space of hundred cubic meters. He stored all his belongings and all the things he required in the ring. It was Dawn. The family had gathered outside the clan compound. Kladus and his two wives, Oswin and Lavisa and Verona were present with Zayer.
"Zayer you must be careful in the academy! Don''t go venturing outside alone. You shouldn''t get hurt. If you don''t like it there just come back home! Aunt will take care of your training" Angeline said.
"Aunt Angeline, don''t worry. I''ll be just fine" Zayer replied.
"You won''t forget this miserable Aunt of yours right? At least come give me a hug!"
"Don''t make this too difficult for him!" Annis shouted. Kladus held her arm and gave an indication to not interfere.
Zayer nevertheless went and hugged her. He felt pity for her. Kladus had married the two sisters Annis and Angeline. Annis had two children with Kladus but Angeline wasn''t fortunate. She had no children. From when Zayer first came to the Demonte Clan she always showered him with so much love. She felt she finally had a son. Zayer understood this and never once said anything about it. Naturally, seeing this even Lavisa couldn''t help but feel sad. She knew she would have behaved the same way if she was Angeline. Annis had two daughters who studied in the Star Fire Academy. The air was filled with awkwardness and so Zayer broke the silence.
"Grand Ma why aren''t we with Lucius and Serene? Aren''t we all going to the same destination?"
"Actually I know the Head Master of the Star Fire Academy. We go way back. I talked to him and thought we could get a back door entry"
"Why should we do that?"
"That''s none of your concern. Just follow me. That is all"
"Hmph. Okay"
"But won''t the clans men feel neglected. I mean I''m getting special treatment and all"
Kladus began to laugh out loud.
"Don''t worry Zayer. I have already made arrangements for them. They will be escorted by a hundred guards and will lavishly enter the Academy and also if you have any problems adjusting to the Academy life, your to sisters are already there. So go ask them to help you" Kladus said.
"Okay Uncle. By the looks of it, those two have it good and here I am stuck with her" Zayer replied looking at Verona.
Once again everyone were silent. No one dared to utter a word. Unexpectedly, Angeline began to giggle but she soon stopped when she saw Verona''s gaze was on her.
"You talk big even though you''re so weak. Enough talk! Let''s leave!" Verona held Zayer as she rose up in the air.
"Bye Zayer!! Write to Mom occasionally okay?!!"
"Okay Mom! Bye Dad! Bye Everyone"
Everyone bid their farewells and looked up in the sky as Verona and Zayer flew away towards the Sky Fire Academy.
After an hour of flying, they had crossed the borders of the Zoroark Empire and were now flying over an ocean. In every direction the twilight blue ocean met the gray clouds on the horizon. The ocean was as still as a millpond, the surface was barely a placid ripple, breaking the sunlight into a mosaic of reflected colors. Zayer started to feel a little dizzy because of the monstrous speed they were flying at. After a few minutes, they were flying over a land. They crossed crossed towns, villages and forests. Finally, they appeared before a grand set of buildings. The walls outside were high and inside there were a set of multi-storey buildings. The buildings were of fine architecture. Zayer thought he had once again had entered a new world. The place was grand and looked majestic.
There was a huge crowd outside the walls. Zayer saw many carriages and people dropping off children. There was a huge line to just enter the premises.
"Grand Ma is this?"
"Yes. This the Star Fire Academy! How is it?"
"It''s much more than I had expected it to be"
"Haha"
They flew past the walls. Zayer was once again dumbstruck. There was again another huge line. He thought this was the line for taking the test. He sighed in relief thinking it was good to have Verona by his side. Suddenly, two black silhouettes appeared.
"Who are you? What is your purpose of entering?"
"I''m Verona Demonte"
"Apologies for not recognizing you Madam. The Vice-Principal is waiting for you. Please follow us"
They followed the silhouettes as Zayer was mesmerized when he saw the buildings while passing through them. They finally reached a small building. It was only three floors high.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. This was the Principals Office. They landed on the ground and were escorted to the Vice-Principals room. A guard opened the door to the room and both of them entered.
There was man in a white robe sitting on a chair. He had a desk in front of him. He looked to be around forty five years of age. He had short brown hair and black colored eyes. He had a calm expression on his face. He looked like a scholar. As Verona and Zayer entered the room his expression changed into a smile.
"Well, look who it is! It''s been so long since we met the last time Miss Verona!"
"Caesar you brat! You haven''t changed one bit"
"Welcome to Star fire Academy! And this must be Zayer right?"
"Yes I am Zayer Mr.Caesar"
"Oh don''t need to be so stiff. Just call me Vice principal! No pressure"
"Okay"
"Caesar where is George?"
"The principle is out on some important work. No need to worry I have made all necessary arrangements for Zayer."
"Hmmm. That''s good. When will George be back?"
"As the entrance ceremony is in five days, he will be back in two days. Will you wait for his return?"
"No, I''ll go back. There isn''t much to take with that old fart anyway"
"..................."
"Zayer I''ll take my leave now. Be good. Don''t let Grand Ma down. Enjoy you''re time here"
"Bye Grand Ma" Zayer said as he hugged her.
"Caesar I''ve left him in your care"
"No need t worry. He is in good hands"
"Zayer, if I have time I''ve visit you in the future"
"Okay"
Verona then left the room. Now only Zayer and Caesar remained in the room.
"She''s quite the monster isn''t she?" Caesar asked.
"You don''t say" Zayer replied.
"Well, that''s that and now, I officially welcome you to the Sky Fire Academy!"
"Thank You Vice Principal"
Caesar snapped his fingers. A set of uniforms and a badge appeared.
"Zayer take this badge, it indicates that you belong to this academy"
Zayer took the badge.
"And this will be your set of uniforms. This uniform which is blue in color indicates you are learning in the first year"
Zayer nodded and took the uniforms.
"Okay now I''ll give you some information on the courses here. Here in our academy we accept mages and warriors. For warriors the requirements are at least three low level affinities and for mages there is a strict requirement of at least one medium level affinity. The advantages of being a mage here is that you can train in both the ways but for warriors we do not give this opportunity. But the warriors can train in the fusion arts. By the way don''t underestimate the warriors that we produce. That are the best in the whole of Gaspra Realm. So what affinities do you have? I haven''t heard about it from the principal"
"Vice principal, I have exceptional affinity to Lightning, high level affinity to Wind and a low level affinity to darkness"
"Excellent. You look like a good prospect. You also have low level affinity to darkness. That''s good. I''m guessing you know that affinity to light or dark elements are rare but here we have around 1500 students who have affinity to darkness"
"1500 students?"
"Yes. As you know students come here from all over the Gaspra Realm so definitely we''ll have that amount of students"
"Oh"
"Now let me tell you some important things. You will never fight with commoners or anyone else who is not from the four empires"
"What?"
"Zayer, here we have strict rules and you must follow them. We won''t turn a blind eye even if it''s you. The Star Fire Academy belongs to the Star Island. Here, the island is governed by the Merchant Guild. For the four empires to sustain their economy, they need the help of Merchant Guild. So, none of the empires dare make a move against them. So, by the rule set by the Merchant Guild, no commoner is to be hurt by a noble and the same rule applies to anyone from the Western Domain. Hence, if you fight anyone from the four empires, we don''t mind. Also, if anyone kills someone or cripples someone, they will be immediately be kicked out of the academy and will be sent to trail here in the Star Island"
"I''ll keep that in mind Vice Principal"
"You don''t have to worry. A commoner''s basic instinct is to stay away from a noble. So, unless you take the initiative there won''t be any problems"
"Nothing to worry Vice Principal, I''ll be very disciplined during my stay here"
"All the information regarding your courses and schedule will be given to you during the Entrance Ceremony"
"Okay Vice Principal"
"Good. I''ll be hoping to hear good news about your improvement. A lot of people have great expectations from you so don''t let them down"
"Yes, Vice principal"
"Okay, now take this key. It''s the key to your room. You can roam around the campus in these five days if you want. There''s a library here, you can also read. You can eat food in the Dinner Hall. Lastly, don''t get lost because the campus is really big"
"Yes, Vice principal"
"Good. Now off you go" said Caesar as he snapped his fingers.
"Huh?" Zayer was surprised.
Zayer disappeared like a flash from the room.
*Swoosh*
"Huh?" Zayer was standing in front of a room.

Intro:
"Hmmm"
"Good job! Never thought you youths could pull it off! Simply Astonishing!" Village Head nodded in satisfaction.
"Yes! Never thought they would be so strong! Especially that blond haired boy. My..My...he''s too strong" the village guard was fascinated.
The blond haired boy stood near the six bandits his squad had caught. They knelt on ground looking at him. They were scared to death. The blond haired boy had brutally injured two bandits in seconds. The remaining dropped their weapons on seeing this and instantly surrendered. But even then the boy had hit the daylights out them. Now, they knelt on the ground with their hands tied behind their back. He stood still looking at them. The bandits grew frantic thinking of their situation. No one knew what was going on in the blond haired boy''s mind.
His expression changed into a smile. The bandits closed their eyes. They knew this was their end. But the blond haired boy did something that not only shocked the bandits but even the village head and the guard next to him. The blond haired boy''s squad just had a blank expression.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh" the bandits screamed.
The blond haired boy walked towards the village head and walked past the only girl in his squad. Just then
*Smack*
He spanked her. Her face became red as she stared at him and said

"Y-You!!!"
"You what baby?"
"I HATE YOU!!"
"Thank You" the blond haired boy replied.
Once again the village head just couldn''t understand.
"Village Head! What about our reward?"
"Kid y-you just...."
"You what???"
"Nothing, here take this" the Village head handed over a small bag of gold.
"Good"
"K-Kid can I ask you something?"
"Sure. Go ahead" the boy happy looking at the bag of gold.
"Kid not only did you not take the reward but also stole the belongings of the bandits, even their clothes!! A-And with t-that girl....."
"Village Head what are you talking about. I don''t seem to understand" the boy had an indifferent expression.
"Kid at least tell a lie which I can believe!"
"HoHo.....Village Head it''s just that I am a........bad boy" the boy turned around to leave.
"Confirmed" the Village Head muttered.
The boy turned back thinking he heard something.
"Village Head did you say something?"
"Kid in my whole life, I have traveled thousands of miles, visited many places but never in my life ever.......ever.....ever have I seen a person like you.....so shameless!"
The boy started to laugh.
"Village Head. That I am. That I am"
Chapter 10: Zayer Demonte
Chapter 10: Zayer Demonte
Room ''578''
"Hmmm"
"Let''s see how this goes"
Zayer held his key and was about to open the door. The door wasn''t anything special, he noticed it was some kind of weak magic. He used the key and opened the door and went in.
"What the? Four beds? You mean I got to share the room with three others?? Pffffff"
The room was basically like a house. It had a bedroom where there were four beds, a bathroom ,two empty rooms and surprisingly a kitchen. Zayer really didn''t understand the need for the kitchen when the food was basically free. The room had a pleasant air. Though the windows were closed, it felt like something was constantly feeling new air. Zayer went and opened the windows and had a look down. He was shocked. He was at least thirty floors above. Then he looked up and saw many more floors.
"This place sure is big!"
The dorm buildings were fifty floors high. There were around twelve to fifteen such buildings. All them were easily built by an expert mage who specialized in construction magic. All of the buildings in the campus were built by using such a method or else it would take years to build such a place. The Star Fire Academy itself was like a small city. Every year around thousand five hundred students were taken in. In some of the years, the academy even took around two thousand students! That would have been because the talent in that lot would have been good. The Star Fire Academy had the best teachers, best facilities and a long history that made it so famous that it retained the title of the best academy in the entire Gaspra Realm for over a century. The requirements of graduation was Sky Profound Realm. Once the student reached Sky Profound Realm they would be given the right to graduate. The graduation percentage was less than ten percent. This was because it was too difficult to reach Sky Profound Realm in a certain time. The students once admitted in the academy could stay in the Academy until they were fifty years old. By then if they hadn''t reached the Sky Profound Realm then they would have to leave the academy. Usually the students would stay here until they were twenty five years of age. By then if they wouldn''t have graduated, then would leave as they thought it would bring them shame. The nobles from the major clans didn''t care about graduation as their life would be still the same if they didn''t graduate. When a student graduated from the Star Fire Academy, he or she would have a great future. If the student was not from any of the four empires, then they would be given the opportunity to join the army of the four empires. They could chose any one of the four empires. The four empires called up such talented martial experts so as to join there army as it would strengthen their army. If the achievements of the student was great then he would advance in the ranks of the army. The four empires would also have other occupations for them and it would be based on the openings available. The selection process of these individuals was really vigorous. This was done to stop spies from the other empires from entering. The commoners were the portion of people who mainly benefited from graduation. It would change their life. They wouldn''t have to live in poverty from then on. They would be considered equal to nobility and if their achievements were astonishing then they would have the chance to create their own clan. Opportunities were endless. Even for an average student who didn''t graduate, upon leaving at the age of twenty five, he would find employment easily. This was why everyone wanted to go the Star Fire Academy. The Academy that would change their lives.
The nobles from the major clans didn''t care about graduation. They would simply stay there until they were twenty five years of age. Theron and Sojul too never graduated. They even left early. But Zayer didn''t know about this, he was told that they graduated early instead. The reason why his brothers left was because once a practitioner reached the Earth Profound Realm, the difficulty in advancing to the next level increases exponentially. More over the practitioner needed insights to advance. Usually a martial artist would gain insights during battle. Theron and Sojul left the academy and went out to adventure in the other lands hoping to break through from the Earth Profound Realm to Sky Profound Realm.
Zayer then inspected the other rooms. They had basic furniture and nothing else. He was all alone in the room. Then he decided to unpack. After finishing all the work, he decided to go out and venture around the academy.
He came out of the room and walked along the hall way. Then he saw an elevator and opposite to it was the stairs. He had never seen such a strange thing and had only heard about it. He decided to try it and went inside. Once he came inside, he saw buttons with numbers from zero to fifty and the number thirty two was red in color. He understood that he was on the thirty second floor. After realizing that he pressed the button with zero on it. After he pressed it, the door suddenly shut and opened once again. Zayer was surprised when he got out. The place was different and at the end of the hall way there was an exit. He thought this may be the ground floor. He walked to the end of the hall way and came out. He saw a lawn in front and after that was a road. He scanned his surroundings. There was shock on his face when he looked around. There were a series of buildings next to his building. They looked all the same. He saw a sign on the building that said five. He thought this may be the way to distinguish between the buildings. He crossed the lawn and stood on the road. He looked both ways. On one of the sides there was a sign board. He decided to walk in that direction. He went near the sign board and saw what was written on it.
Community Square
350 meters
He walked along the road for a few minutes. Then he came in front of another set of buildings. They were small buildings which were at most three floors high but what surprised him was the crowd. There were thousands of people walking in and out. It was like a shopping district. He saw students wearing uniform but most of them were in casual clothing. Seeing this he felt somewhat relieved as wasn''t wearing an uniform. He walked into the bustling crowd. Then he came onto a street. There were stalls set up on either sides selling food and other stuff. He saw that the bigger shops were in the buildings. He saw students hanging out and having fun.
As he walked past a few stalls, he then saw a restaurant. It was an open restaurant with some of the tables outside and some inside. When he glanced around the restaurant, he found two familiar figures. They were Aunt Annis''s daughters. The older one was Marilla and the smaller one was Levia. Marilla was fourteen and Levia was thirteen years of age. They both were sitting together with another boy. He look around Marilla''s age. He had jet black hair and black eyes. His skin was milk white. It looked like they were having a nice time in the restaurant. Zayer walked in to the restaurant and went towards them.
"I''m sorry but have I seen you somewhere?" Zayer said as everyone at table looked at him.
"Zayer!"
"Zayer!"
Marilla and Levia got really excited upon seeing Zayer and went to hug him instantly. The boy at the table couldn''t understand the situation.
"Zayer! When did you get here?" Marilla asked.
"I got here a few hours ago"
"You idiot! Where were you the last year? You didn''t even come home. What training was so important that you couldn''t even come to send me off when I was leaving for the Academy?" Levia frowned.
"Yeah. Zayer I heard you didn''t even come back after a year. Is that true?" Marilla asked.
"I''m sorry Levia, I truly am. I got back only two months ago" Zayer said.
"Now that you''re hear, you won''t go off to anywhere else okay?"
"Okay. Okay. I''ll hang out with you Levia. Okay?"
"Good"
Zayer had only two friends in the clan. They were Marilla and Levia. It was the same thing for the other two as well. The three were inseparable. Zayer really liked hanging out with them because he could easily trick them. He sometimes used to tell them stories of nonsensical stuff and make them get scared. Though at end, most of the time Marilla would understand that Zayer was bluffing but that wasn''t the same for Levia. She believed whatever Zayer told her. There was one time when Zayer told her some stories about spirits and how they attacked only small girls. Levia didn''t sleep for the next three days.
"Zayer this is Theon Sparkson from the Sparkson Clan" Marilla introduced him to Theon. Sparkson clan were one of the big three clans of the Zoroark Empire.
"Oh! Hello, I''m Zayer Demonte"
"I''m Theon Sparkson" the boy gave a handshake as he had a smile on his face.
''Third Eye''
Zayer used his Third Eye ability on Theon. Upon seeing nothing suspicious, he calmed himself and sat down.
"Zayer I can''t believe you were training in seclusion for almost two years!" Marilla was astonished.
"Seclusion my ass! It was all because of that damn Verona! If I were bit more powerful, I would have taken care of her easily"
Marilla and Levia began to laugh. They knew Zayer didn''t like his Grand Mother. Theon was shocked by what Zayer said. He couldn''t believe what he just said.
"Y-You don''t mean Verona Demonte do you?" Theon asked.
"Yup that''s her. That''s the only Verona in my clan" Zayer answered.
Marilla looking at Theon''s expression and explained to him
"Theon, this is how both Grand Ma and Zayer talk to each other. I know it''s shocking but Zayer is her favorite grandson. So that''s how it is"
"Favorite my foot!" Zayer snorted.
"Zayer what kind of training did you do?"
"Training? That was only a hoax!"
"What?"
"I did train there. But most of the time I was put to study different books. Verona said I would concentrate more on my training there. So I had to stay there"
"Oh! Looks like you a bad time" Marilla said.
"Not entirely. There was something good that happened there" Zayer looked at Levia.
"What happened?"
"I met with the spirit of our Grand Father. Verona actually took me there to meet him"
"What? Really? What did he say??" Levia asked.
"He said I was the child of the prophecy. I would go on to unite the whole of Gaspra Realm!"
"What? No way! Really?" Levia was too curious.
Marilla and Theon looked at each other and began to giggle. They knew Zayer was just bluffing and tricking Levia. Marilla just couldn''t control and burst out laughing. In a few moments all of them except Levia were laughing.
Levia''s face became red in embarrassment.
"You idiot! You lied to me again!" said Levia as she started punching Zayer''s shoulders.
"Sorry! Sorry! Okay! Calm down!" Zayer said as he was still laughing.
The four of them talked on for an hour. Then Zayer told them he wanted to check out the library. Levia said she would take him and both of them left the restaurant and walked towards the library. After a few minutes, they came in front of a building. It was a ten storey building. The entrance looked very grand. They walked up the steps to the entrance. They went inside and walked through the hallway. On either sides of the hallway were paintings of different people. Zayer understood these people were some of the famous figures. After they walked past the hallway, in front of them was a huge desk and a man was sitting behind it. The man looked really old and had white beard. He was stroking his beard when Levia and Zayer came to him.
"Teacher, this student is new. Please give him a library card"
The man looked at Zayer and said "Give me your badge kid"
Zayer gave him the badge and the old man took note of his number on the badge. Every badge had a unique number. Then he used magic to create a card.
The old man returned his badge and gave him his card.
"Thank You Teacher" Zayer said.
"Hmmm" old man nodded.
Levia then took Zayer to the library. The library had five floors. Zayer''s library card gave him access to only the first two floors. The rumor about the library was that there were more than five floors but to gain access to them the student needed to have amazing achievements. Levia and Zayer walked past the rows of books. Then he finally asked
"Are there any books about Immortals?"
"I think there is. It may be on the second floor"
Zayer and Levia walked up to the second floor. It looked almost exactly like the first floor.
"Hmmm. Now where are they? Let''s walk to the end"
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
"Okay"
They walked to one end and saw a section where there were books regarding to Immortal lands.
"So, what do you want to see? I''m sure you won''t take much time. I know you hate books!" Levia giggled.
"Enough. Let''s just go have a look"
"Okay relax"
Then they saw various books about immortals lying on the racks.
"So what do want to see? How about Land of the Immortals or.........All about Immortal Lands? huh?"
"No. Not interesting.Hmmm let''s see." Zayer started to look around.
Then Zayer saw a book which peaked his curiosity. It was a thick book which was biting the dust. It was covered in dust. Zayer went to have a closer look.
"Okay what''s this? Hmmm"
"Famous Immortals: A Description Guide"
"Oh! Did you find a book?"
"Yes. This should be interesting"
"Okay, let''s find a place to sit"
Zayer and Levia went over to the nearest table and sat down. Zayer blew all the dust off the book. Now the cover could be seen clearly. It was a black book with a gold colored borders. There was strap on the center edge of the book. Zayer opened the strap.
"Zayer, I think this book is over fifty years old"
"How did you know that?"
"See that strap, they stopped using it around fifty years ago. I''ve seen it on some of the pretty old books"
"Oh! So this is more than fifty years old?"
"Probably"
"Okay, let''s see"
Zayer opened the first page. Only the name of the book and the author was written. He didn''t really care who wrote such a book. Then he glanced at the index and was quite surprised. It only had names. So, he randomly flipped through pages and saw how it was written. On every page, the name and the picture of the immortal was given. But the details about the person varied from person to person. Zayer thought this was because of lack of information. He was right. It wasn''t easy to write everything about famous immortals. The details about them either was collected from a source or witnessed personally. Hence, the information was definitely not accurate.
"Now, whom should we see? How about Krezul?"
"Zayer who''s that?"
"Just some trouble maker"
Zayer went back to the index and started to look over the names

"Woah! Look at him! He''s looks too scary!" Levia started to get frightened.
"Relax! It''s just a book"
"Okay"
Zayer started to look over the details.
"Hmmm. Name Krezul alias Mighty Krezul alias Demon King alias King of Death"
"So many names"
Zayer began to giggle looking at Levia.
"Let''s see what else. Killed more than hundreds of thousands......killed the immortal........extremely dangerous.........known affinities: darkness...........hmmm......present location: unknown......"
Zayer glanced over all the little details.
"Alive or dead: Unknown"
"Boring! No good information on this guy here. I thought at least I''d know from where he came from and things. Forget it! Let''s look over more names and see if there is anything interesting!" Zayer was displeased with the lack off information on Krezul.
"Okay go back to the index" Levia said.
Zayer once again went back to the index.
"let''s see from........here, right!" said Zayer as he started to look for interesting names.

Chapter 11: Entrance Ceremony
Chapter 11: Entrance Ceremony
''Zayer Demonte''
Both Zayer and Levia couldn''t help but be horrified. Zayer quickly flipped through the pages. Beads of sweat rolled down his head. Levia couldn''t help but anticipate on what she would see. Then Zayer opened the page that he needed. After seeing the picture, he sighed in relief.
"Pheewwww! It''s not me!!" Zayer exclaimed.
"Yup that''s not you. He looks quite handsome though"
"..............." Zayer was about to burst out but he stopped realizing that Levia was one dumb girl.
He stopped looking at her and immediately started to view the details about this so called ''Zayer Demonte''. The picture of him was sure crazy. The man in the picture was surrounded by chains of fire in the shape of a sphere. Through the gap between the chains, a part of face was clearly visible. The depth in eyes shook Zayer for a moment. He realized that this Zayer Demonte may be even more dangerous than Krezul.
"Name: Zayer Demonte.........known affinities: fire..........killed the immortal Killjoy by roasting him alive...........extremely dangerous......last seen in the Battle of Two Towers......present location: unknown.......Alive or Dead: Alive..................Hmmm"
"This guy looks strong!"
"Levia he''s an immortal. He''s like a god to everyone in the Gaspra Realm in terms of power"
"Wow"
"Pfffff. Let''s leave. I''ll go rest a bit. Today has been rather tiring"
"What about this person? Maybe Grand Ma knows he who is. Let''s try asking sister if she knows anything"
"You go ask whomever you want. I''ll just go to my room and sleep"
"Okay let''s go"
Zayer and Levia left the library. Levia and Zayer parted ways at the Community Square. Zayer began to walk alone towards his dorm building. On the way in his mind he was thinking about Zayer Demonte. He thought maybe he was an ancestor of the clan. If he really was in the immortal planes then he would one day go and meet him. Zayer entered his dorm building and got on to the elevator. He reached the thirty second floor and went to his room. In five days there would an Entrance Ceremony. Zayer sat down crossed legged on the floor and started to meditate. He could now train in the meditative state for almost a month without food or water.
Two days went by fast. Zayer was still in his meditative state when he heard a knock on his door. He didn''t go to open it. There was no sound of a voice from the outside either. Zayer got on guard and waited. Suddenly the door opened and boy came in. He had green hair with blue eyes. His build was medium and looked full of energy. The boy was surprised to find someone inside the room.
"Hello there! I''m your new room mate!" the boy had a childish smile on his face.
"Oh. Hi. I''m Zayer Demonte"
"I''m Joran Saffire"
"Nice to meet you Joran"
"Nice to meet you too Zayer!"
'' Third Eye ''
Zayer used his ability to find anything suspicious about Joran. He was surprised to find out that his soul was much stronger than any average person of their age. After looking at his soul he concluded that there was nothing to worry about.
"Hey Zayer. You''re from the famous Demonte Clan right?"
"Yup"
"So cool. So you''re from the branch family or the main family?"
"The main family"
"Amazing! It must be good being a part of the main family right?"
"Yes"
"I''m from the Western Domain! I come from Saffire Clan"
"Oh. Is it a big clan?"
"Yup. We have good influence in the Western Domain. Well, even if we don''t have a big history like you''re clan, we are quite formidable. We''re way stronger than the so called big clans of Yellow Shield and Blue Eagle"
"Relax. You''re clan is strong okay? Calm down a bit"
"Hehe. Sorry. I got carried away a bit"
"Well,I guess we''re gonna be room mates for another ten years or so? huh?"
"Yup. Oh, by the way what affinities do you have?"
"Lightning, Wind and Darkness"
"Nice. I have Earth, Wind and Water"
"So,I wonder what our other two room mates will be like"
"You didn''t hear? There will be only three students in our room"
"What? Why?"
"Who knows. That''s what the official who gave me the room key said"
"Oh. Hey, you want to grab something to eat?"
"Sure. But I don''t know this place. I just got here"
"Let''s just go search. Even I don''t know much"
"Okay! Let''s goooooo!" Joran started to act weird.
Zayer and Joran left the room and headed out of the building. They spent some time chatting while searching for the dinner hall. They found the dinner hall and went to grab something to eat. The dinner hall was very big. The varieties of food available there was limited. Zayer then thought this may have been the reason for the existence of other restaurants within the Academy. Zayer was quite impressed with Joran. He knew Joran was a simple person and never would hide anything. They spent around four hours looking around the Academy and went back to their room. When they were almost near their room they saw their door open. Zayer and Joran rushed to the room in curiosity. There was a boy unpacking.
''Third Eye''
Zayer was very cautious in this life. He didn''t want to take chances with anyone. Zayer upon seeing his soul felt sad but he didn''t show the expression on his face. After what he saw he understood that the boy in front of him had faced many hardships in his life. He could see loneliness, guilt, despair and various other expressions which would make any normal person insane. But still there was this boy in front of him having a smile on face and it wasn''t fake. He had blond hair and black colored eyes. His clothes looked rather plain and were those worn by commoners. He had a solid lean body and looked very agile.
"Oh! Hi guys! My name is......" the boy stopped speaking after he saw the clothes the two boys were wearing and lowered his head. He knew they weren''t commoners and didn''t want to offend them. Due to his past experiences he had realized that nobles would get offended for simple reasons.
Joran''s face became red in anger. He realized why the he stopped speaking.
"What happened? Did you bite your tongue?! Just because you''re a commoner that doesn''t mean you have to lower your head whenever you see a noble! How despicable!"
Just then Zayer held Joran''s shoulders and stopped him from going any further as he saw the horrified expression on the boy.
"Joran you can''t judge a person like that.....you don''t know about his life or what he''s been through to act like this"
Joran was startled by what Zayer said. Understanding what Zayer meant, he apologized to the boy and continued
"Hi, I''m Joran Saffire"
"H-Hello, I''m Taylor Crevil"
"I''m Zayer Demonte. From now on you won''t act this way. No matter who that person is. If anyone tries to bully you, just tell them my name"
"Yeah! Tell them my name too! Let''s see who dares to mess with us!" Joran became excited all of a sudden.
"Thank You guys. I really appreciate it"
"So Taylor, what affinities do you have?"
"I have affinities to earth and wind"
"Oh! That''s nice"
After the incident, Taylor started to open up. The boys began to interact and got to know each other well. They talked on for hours and decided to call it a day and go to sleep.
"I never thought I''d get to know people from the big clans!" Taylor exclaimed.
"I don''t really understand how that''s a great thing" Joran replied.
"You guys don''t know how great it is to be born in a big clan. Only a commoner would understand. Especially Zayer who comes from one of the oldest clans in the Gaspra Realm"
"Demonte Clan is one of the oldest?" Zayer asked.
"What? Y-You didn''t know about that? Demonte Clan is too legendary! Many famous martial experts have emerged from your clan. Your clan is one of the most respected clans in the entire Gaspra Realm. You really didn''t know about this?"
"Nope. I was never interested in history of my clan. Perhaps you know more about our history?"
"Absolutely! I know almost everything!"
"Really? Then do you know any immortals who have emerged from my clan?"
"Immortals? Let''s see.....there were some experts. Give me a minute to think"
Zayer and Joran were looking at Taylor curiously. They never thought Taylor would be this knowledgeable.
"Yes, there were immortals from your clan but that was around five hundred years ago or even more before that. There were only two or three but I think I know why you''re asking me this" a smile appeared on Taylor''s face.
Zayer couldn''t even predict the situation anymore and Joran didn''t understand what Taylor just said.
"You want to know about the immortal called Zayer Demonte right?"
"H-How did you...."
"I thought so. But not many people know about him. Even I know only some minor details. I think only the top members of you''re clan may be knowledgeable about him. It isn''t really really surprising that you wouldn''t know"

"If the information is that secret, then how do know about him?"
"As you know I come from the Western Domain like Joran, I used to be a servant for one of the tribes there"
"What?? You were a servant in one of the tribes? You''re life would have been really miserable! How did you escape?" Joran shouted.
"Ha! You can call it fate I guess"
"Joran, what are these tribes?" Zayer asked.
"Zayer from where I come, tribes are groups who don''t have enough power to establish themselves as a clan. They are nomads who go on rampaging in the forests. The bigs clans don''t bother about them as the tribes just stay in the forests. The tribes don''t dare attack clans, so they won''t fear the wrath of any clans in the Western Domain. In the tribes, servants are treated like slaves. They are beaten up for no reason and many times even killed. There is absolutely no justice and order. To escape from such a hellish place is a miracle"
Zayer now understood why his soul looked in such a state.
"Come on guys! Just listen to my story okay?!" Taylor yelled as he was in an embarrassing situation.
"Y-Yes, please continue" said Zayer.
"So, when the tribe I was in invaded another, I came across a room where there were a lot of books. Some looked really old so I took all the books with me. I was shocked when I read the contents of many books because these really old. Some of them were even from ancient times. There I came across a journal of a member of the Demonte Clan and it had information on Zayer Demonte"
"What did it say!?" Zayer looked at at Taylor with his eyes wide open.
"It is said that it happened long ago. It''s definitely more than five hundred years ago or may be even more. There isn''t much information regarding when exactly this incident happened. It said that there was a time when the Demonte Clan was on the verge of being exterminated but then came a man called Zayer Demonte. He singe handedly killed everyone who were responsible to put the Demonte Clan in such a situation. The then head of the clan asked what his name was and he had replied Zayer Demonte. Then he spoke with the head of the clan for a few minutes and left. The person who wrote the journal was present when Zayer Demonte had appeared. From the first look he knew this person was immortal. Then after the incident, the head of the clan had declared that Zayer Demonte was a member of their clan. Everyone from the clan were too happy that their clan would continue to exist. After the incident the head of the clan also told all the clan members that the clan would help a certain person. The person who wrote the journal thought it was the request of this Zayer Demonte. He also wrote that many clans men were curious about this Zayer Demonte because they had never seen him in the clan before. Regardless he was considered a clan member. Also they were too weak to offend an immortal and were instead happy to befriend one. This was all that was written in the journal"
"Amazing! To think there was something like this that had happened! I guess maybe I was named after him" Zayer was astonished.
"It is indeed possible. But to what extent the information is true, that no one can tell or predict"
"Taylor you sure know a lot about history! Is there some ancient history about my clan too?"
"No Joran, there isn''t. Your clan was found around two hundred years ago and all the events from history are recorded. There really isn''t anything that is secret"
"Hmph. That sure sucks!" Joran frowned.
"Taylor thank you so much for telling me all this"
"Heh! No problem!"
The boys finally went to sleep. Zayer was satisfied with what Taylor had told him. Now he only thought of meeting this person one day.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the day of the entrance ceremony. The Star Fire Academy would begin a new academic year today. All the new students were present in the student hall. The three boys Zayer, Joran and Taylor sat at the back of the hall. There was a stage in front of them where there were a few seats. In a few minutes the ceremony would begin. The three boys had become good friends. As they were chatting a loud voice rang across the room.
"Silence!!"
It was the Vice Principle. The seats on the stage were taken and in middle sat an old man. He looked rather weak but the aura surrounding him was wasn''t normal. It was the Principal of the Star Fire Academy. He had an indifferent expression on his face.
The Vice Principal began with his introduction and then continued
"We are all gathered here to start a new academic year. Now you all are a part of this academy, the Star Fire Academy. To be a part of this academy means that you are the best. The best of your age. But this isn''t the end but a mere beginning of your lives. Those of you who chose the path of hard work will gain much in your lives. Here you have the means to become strong and one day fulfill your dreams"
The Vice Principal continued on for another hour when he finally stopped and gave way for the Principal to speak. The Principal stood up from his seat and walked a bit forward and looked at the crowd.
"Good Morning to all you new students! I''m Bai Jan. The principal of this Academy. I''m looking forward to see how good you guys will be. Every year I tell this to the new batch of students and I will say this again. You must surpass your seniors and become even greater than they were. I hope you have a good time learning here and I really hope you make my Academy proud. Now, what I''m really looking forward to is the Freshman Championship. Once again this year there are two categories- duo and trio. There will be no solo competition as this is only to make you get along with your fellow students and not a test of strength. There will be a prize for the winning teams and the first three in each category will be given certain privileges. So, make your teams fast and register by the end of today. It is compulsory for everyone to participate. The championship will begin tomorrow morning in the the training grounds"
The Principal had a smile on his face and shouted
"Let the new Academic Year begin!!!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The entrance ceremony was over. The Principals speech was sure short but it was to point. There was an uproar in the student hall. All the students were trying to scout people. The students could take part in any one or both of the categories. The three boys had come to an unanimous decision of only participating in the trio category. They had already registered and they were in their room thinking of what their next move would be.
"Guys, I think we need a battle plan" Taylor spoke.
"Yes, I think Taylor is right!" Joran continued.
"Hmmm. First we need to know our levels. You both, what are your power levels?" Zayer asked.
"I''m in True Profound Realm early stage in both mage and warrior" Taylor said.
"I''m in True Profound Realm peak stage mage and in the eight level of Rudimentary Profound Realm warrior" Joran said.
"Good. I''m in True Profound Realm early stage mage and a True Profound Realm peak stage warrior" Zayer replied.
"Nice. I think our chances to get to the top ten is certain. Maybe we can even get to top five" Taylor was happy.
"Heh! Only top five? I''m sure we can get to top three easily. As for coming first place, I''m not really sure" Joran held his chest up high.
"Idiots! Why aim below when you can aim for the top. Tomorrow our victory in the trio category is certain" Zayer said.
"Zayer, don''t you think you''re a bit overconfident?"
"Hmph. You guys still haven''t seen me in battle. Let me show you tomorrow what I''m capable of. How about we do this, I''ll make a wager with the both of you, tomorrow if we don''t win then you both can ask one favor each. It can be anything but if I can''t do it, then suitable compensation will be given by me. How about it?"
"Okay!" both Taylor and Joran replied simultaneously. After seeing Zayer''s confidence, both of them started to really think of winning the competition. They decided on a battle plan for the competition.
Morning. It was the day of the Freshman Championship. Today the competition would go on till four teams remained in each category. Only the teachers of the Academy were present to supervise the competition in the training grounds. All the higher ups of the Academy would be present the next day which was the final day of the competition. Every student in the competition had a seal placed on their shoulders. This was placed by the teachers to teleport them out of the ring in dangerous situations. All the medics from Academy were present in order to heal the participants if something were to go wrong. With all this supervision, the main advantage for the participants was that they could go all out. The participants were forbidden to attack the dantian region. Many fighting rings were set up in the training grounds. The rules were simple. If the all the members of the team went out of the ring then they would lose and they would lose if they surrendered. The three boys were given their number tag. They would have to enter the ring when their number was called out. The competition began and the students who were to participate in both the categories were given more priority in having the battle first. The competition began and the three boys waited for their turn. One by one the weak teams lost and were thrown out. The stronger teams waited for their next battle. Then the announcer called out the number
"Forty Eight and On hundred and six!"
The number tag given to the three boys was hundred and six. They walked into the ring and as their opponents were already present. The supervisor was ready to begin the fight.
"Guys, this is our first battle together. You both ready?" Taylor asked.
"I was born ready!" Joran replied as he was really excited to begin.
Hearing what the other two had to say, Zayer continued
"Boys, let''s play"

Author''s Notes: So, I realized that Shameless Immortal wasn''t ready. I had a different picture in my head but I couldn''t project it the way I wanted. Let''s just say the execution part was bad. So, I have stalled it and will think on reworking with the story. From now on it''ll only be DOH for me! :D yay! I noticed a lot of questions in the comment section and I was too lazy to answer them.
And now I have created a page for DOH on facebook! (dunno where this is going......trying to be optimistic)
This page was created so that if you guys have the time, you can ask questions there! I will surely answer all of them!
here''s the link: www.facebook.com/dohyogorojo

Hiatus
Sorry guys but Devil of the Heavens will be in hiatus officially from today. There have been no chapters in a long time and I''m sorry for that. The main issue for me right now is I''m unable to continue this story as I feel suffocated whenever I try continuing this. I guess lack of motivation and enlightenment is the reason. I thank everyone for supporting me throughout this short journey! Many of you told me the story was good and I feel very happy for that! Some of you said that the mc''s personality didn''t quite suit but I had planned on explaining the reason for that in the upcoming chapters but I never thought I would call a hiatus. Well, the hiatus is for TWO MONTHS. After two months if I still am not able to continue, they I will have to DROP this story.
As of now, I have started something new called Son of the Wind. I know some of you might not like this development but I thought of trying something new. This unlike rebirth is a time reversal story. Some of you may have expectations because of DOH but I can''t promise you anything. The story may be good or bad. We all know how Intro to Shameless Immortal went :( Prologue and the first chapter will be out in a few hours.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
I am not a pro writer nor do I have ethics a pro follows so even if Son of the Wind also reaches the hiatus stage .......don''t blame me :(
Keeping my finger crossed. No matter what, I will keep writing something always. I hope I can break out of this suffocation I''m feeling and return to write DOH. Only time will tell. So two months it is ! Looking forward to it.
This is the link to my new work.

Chapter 12: Shock
Chapter 12: Shock
The three boys walked up to the battle platform. Their opponents were already on the platform discussing as they had a nervous expression on their face. Joran thought they were discussing battle strategies and began to laugh inwardly on how bad their opponents luck was drawing his team in the first match. Joran looked really overconfident. Taylor on the other hand was really nervous. This was his first official match in the academy. He thought of this match as a great battle which he would remember for his whole life. This match would be one of the highlights in his life. On the other hand, Zayer was rather clam. He didn''t really care about this first match. He decided he won''t even involve himself in the first match.
"Guys, I''m pretty sure you both are more than enough to handle them" Zayer said as they prepared them self for battle.
"You can''t be serious right?" Taylor grew frantic as he heard what Zayer said.
"What Zayer said is absolutely correct but I think just me is enough though" Joran held his chest high.
"I guess this match is all yours Joran"
"You two! Can you be a bit more serious! I''m going to explode now!"
"Taylor, calm down. You''re too nervous. I''m sure even you alone can beat all three of them. Just believe in yourself." said Zayer as he tried to calm Taylor down. Zayer knew both of them had good ability and weren''t pushovers for their levels.
"O-Okay" replied Taylor as he still wasn''t really satisfied with what Zayer told him.
The referee looked at both the teams and asked them if they were ready. Both the teams nodded in approval.
"Begin!"
Joran dashed forward without any delay as both Zayer and Taylor just stood behind watching him. The opponent team didn''t expect such a quick attack and were at a quick disadvantage. Though Joran was a mage, he decided to go on the offensive like any other warrior would but this wasn''t really a tactic any typical mage would use. Hence, Joran was a mage who thought of battling like a warrior. The other team didn''t remain still either as Joran had already closed in on them. The team consisted of two warriors and one mage. The warriors moved forward to attack as Joran cast an earth magic spell.
" Wall of Earth "
Two raised walls appeared in right in front of their face. The warriors had no time time to react as they crashed onto the wall. Joran had used their own momentum against them. To everyone''s surprise, the two boys were bleeding. On a closer look one could see that the wall had tiny spikes all over it. The Wall of Earth was a low rank spell that a beginner would first learn but the what Joran had used was the same spell with some modifications he had made on his own. Also Joran''s mage force was stronger than his peers, hence the wall was much stronger.
The warriors were on the ground, trying their best to get up and fight. The mage couldn''t believe what he just saw and was shivering all over. Joran realizing that the mage had let down his guard, began to attack once again.
"Too easy!" Joran smirked as he dashed towards the mage who seemed to be lost in his own world.
Joran held his hand forward and used a wind spell.
"Air Ball "
An air sphere appeared in his hand as he struck the mage on the chest.
*BOOM*
The boy flew out of the stage as the impact was too strong. Two teachers rushed towards the boy and grabbed him before he could hit the ground.
*Whistle*
The match was called off, Joran and team were declared winners. This caused a lot of commotion amongst the students as the fight was too fierce. Some of them grew cautious and some of them even started to fear. The match itself wasn''t anything amazing, it was just that the execution and the timing of the spells were flawless. This could only be done if one were a genius.
As the matches continued Zayer and team had five more matches and won them all. Three of them were forfeits as the opponent teams were too scared to face them. Taylor finally got a chance to fight and he did well in defeating some of the students. Zayer thought Taylor really showed promise. Finally as the day ended, all that were left were four teams. Students began to gamble on the winner as curiosity rose among everyone. The team poised to win was the team of twin sword prodigies. The team consisted of one female mage and twin brothers who were warriors. The higher staff considered them to bring fame for Star Fire Academy. Some believed they were a talent which was to be found every hundred years and what was amazing was that there were two of them.
The day passed quickly as today would be the final day of the Freshman Competition. The four teams stood ready before the battle stage. Today the battle would be held in the Academy Arena. The Arena was almost filled with students. The Academy Seniors were present to watch who would be the strongest freshman. All the higher staff of the Academy were present, including the principal Bai Jan and the vice-principal Caesar.
To pick their opponents, the teams had to make their pick. There would be four slips of paper kept in a bowl. Those teams who got the same number would face each other.
The teams had made their pick and Zayer''s team would fight the twin sword prodigies first. The other two two teams felt relieved as they thought the strongest two teams would fight each other first. If by chance some team member of the winning team were to be injured, they would have a better chance of winning.
The higher staff were seated on a raised platform which was constructed much higher than the battle stage. They could get a perfect bird''s eye view from there. As the higher staff were chatting casually, the head of the warrior department studies seated next to Bai Jan began a conversation with him
"Principal, the first battle ought to be good. The twin sword prodigies were brought here by me. I have seen them since they were kids, I must say they are absolute geniuses"
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Carl, looks like you have much confidence. Now I''m really looking forward to their battle" as Bai Jan became pumped up Caesar interrupted him
"Principal, do you see the boy standing in the middle in the opponent team?"
"Oh Yes, why do you ask?"
"He''s Verona''s grandson"
"What? I had totally forgotten about him. Now this is a battle I must definitely watch. Let''s see if the lad shows promise since he''s that old hag''s grandson"
"Principal, who is that student?"
"Oh, Carl he is from the Demonte Family. Let''s see how he performs. What do you think?"
"Demonte Family has very little warriors. They are just too inclined to the Mage way. Today my two students shall show him the might of the Warrior way"
"Ho!Ho! Now that we are pumped up, let''s begin this battle!"
Bai Jan waved at the referee to begin the battle. The two teams made their way up to the battle stage.
"Guys, I heard the twins are some sort of sword prodigies. I think we can''t underestimate them like the others we have fought. I think all the three of us must fight" said Taylor as he glanced at the opponent team.
"I, Joran am ever ready for a battle. The stronger the opponents , the better it is for me"
"You two don''t get your hopes up. This battle, I want to fight alone"
"Zayer! You want to finally fight?! That''s good, let''s see how much of ability you have" Joran smirked as Taylor grew more cautious.
"Zayer, are you sure about this? With the three of us, we have a better chance of victory"
"This so called warrior way everyone talks about, let me show you what it really is. Taylor, stand back and just watch me do it"
Zayer walked forward as the opponent team waited in silence. He saw the twin sword prodigies fuming as they thought they were being underestimated. The twin prodigies were considered the best in the freshman hence they felt the opponent team felt too little of them.
The Referee looked at both the teams, he asked them if they were ready to battle. Both the teams nodded in approval.
"Begin!"
As the referee said begin Zayer took a few steps forward and looked at his opponents. The twin prodigies were in front together and the girl who was a mage stood at the back. This was a basic warrior to mage formation as they stood in a triangular form. The twin prodigies drew their swords and stood on guard. Seeing this Zayer too drew two blades, one in each hand. Two dark blades appeared out of nowhere which surprised the twin prodigies.
"You both can come at me together. I don''t want to waste much time. Let''s keep it simple"
Hearing what Zayer had said made the twin prodigies extremely angry and they looked as if they were going to blow up.
"You!"
"Let''s see how arrogant you are when I beat to the ground!"
Zayer smirked as he watched both of them closed in on him.
As the two of them dashed towards him, he noticed one of them was slowing down.
"I have seen too much of these useless tactics. Pity, I don''t even know their name...That''s it! Let''s call the one in front as Apple and the other one as Orange "
The twin prodigies fumed in anger as they saw Zayer just standing still. They had never met an opponent that would insult them in such a way.
Zayer''s eyes were fixed on Apple as his sword reach him any second.
*Cling*
Zayer blade clashed with his sword and made a really shrill sound but that wasn''t the end. He instantly parried it and tripped Apple. Now he stood in front ready to take Orange head on. Orange was already in the air swinging towards Zayer but he didn''t expect Zayer to be ready to face him. The expression on Orange''s face was really complicated but he decided to swing nevertheless.
"Impossible!" Carl stood up from his seat as there was a hint of shock on his face.
"Ho! Ho! Never expected there would such a good warrior in the Demonte Clan! What do you say now Carl?!" Bai Jan too was surprised to see the battle proceeding in such a manner.
Orange''s sword was just above Zayer when he decided to swing the blade himself too.
*Cling*
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!"
*Shatter*
"W-What in the name of the heavens just happened?" beads of cold sweat rolled down Carl''s forehead as he was too shocked after witnessing what had happened.

Chapter 13: Awards
The sword laid on the ground shattered and to make things worse, Orange had fallen unconscious. Zayer swung his sword in the air and made a gesture to Apple saying he''s next.
The whole arena was in an uproar as they hadn''t expected something as outrageous to happen. Carl had gotten up from his seat confused as to how did Zayer completely crush his opponent in a single blow.
"W-What the hell? He''s just too monstrous!" Taylor exclaimed as Joran smirked.
"Zayer is just on a whole new level. To think I was boasting in front of him" Joran sighed he began to think of how behaved earlier.
As Apple saw Orange unconscious, his legs began to tremble. He rushed to Orange''s side and fell on the ground.
"Tian Yu! Are you alright? Wake up!"
The Referee rushed to see his condition and waved his hand to the medics for help.
"The fight will continue!" said the referee as he realized that Orange had just fallen unconscious.
Apple and his teammate stared in silence as the events began to unfold, they simply stood motionless.
Zayer could understand they were too terrified of him but he didn''t give them a moment''s notice and began to charge towards them.
"We forfeit!" Apple shouted out loud as Zayer stopped in his tracks.
"Excuse me?" Zayer was stupefied.
"Hmph. I guess prodigies amount only to this much. I must say, the decision was very wise." Bai Jan said with a poker face. Caesar couldn''t help but look at Carl''s embarrassed face and laugh.
Zayer''s face became red in anger as he looked at the referee who gestured to stop the match.
"The Victor is Team 106!"
Zayer couldn''t contain his emotions because he had thought he would finally get to fight a decent opponent. As he walked past Apple their eyes met. He looked back at said in a calm voice
"This isn''t the end"
The outrageous display caused the audience to roar in applause. Today a new genius had appeared in the Academy who would one day shake the whole Gaspra Realm. There was no final match as the opponent team had forfeited in fear. The tournament had ended and the new freshman rulers were born. The result of the tournament made everyone realize that there were no one who could match Zayer in the freshman and that he was the undisputed king of the freshman.
It was now time for the award ceremony and all the winners from the duo and trio category had gathered.
Bai Jan and the associate teachers were present as he held five brown boxes with him. Everyone understood what the box contained. It was certainly a beast core!
The eyes of the seniors contained greed and envy as they knew exactly what it was. Bai Jan gestured the whole crowd to be in silence.
"The freshman tournament comes to an end. As promised earlier the winners will each receive an award and certain privileges"
"The winners are in front of you. A big round of applause for these students and the rest of the students who gave their best!"
The audience once again began to clap and cheered for the winners.
"Finally,it is time that I hand over the prize of the tournament! An Earth Profound Realm Beast Core!"
"Whoa!"
"Amazing! It''s an Earth profound beast core!"
Once again the students began to chatter amongst themselves. The freshman commoners and most of the nobles included had never seen an Earth Profound Beast Core.
Bai Jan gestured the teachers to hand the beast cores to each of the students.
"And finally, the winners will be granted access to five floors of the library and will be given extra medicinal pills for a year. They will also be favored in the tournaments to come"
Students were busy thinking how privileged the winners were. The winners would get extra medicinal pills every month for a year. This would make their cultivation rise much faster. They would also get to access the fifth floor of the library where high grade martial skills would be found. They felt these really were privileges and where almost on par with getting a beast core.
Bai Jan congratulated every winner and finally came to Zayer.
"Lad,you are just too much of a monster. Even your old hag of a grandmother wasn''t on this level in her age. You have good talent!"
"Thank You, Principal"
"Well, lad I think you have what it takes to qualify for The Three Great Heavens. You must work hard and persevered for the next three years. I''m sure you if you give it your all, then you may barely qualify!"
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
"Yes Principal! This junior will keep the advise in mind."
Zayer had no idea what the Three Great Heavens meant. Nevertheless he was happy to see these privileges would open up more opportunities to break through to him. The main concern of his was not to raise the cultivation but to increase his battle experience. Only by fighting out more would make him more comfortable with his new body and would stabilize his cultivation. The three boys made their way back to the room.
"Zayer, your battle skills are just too amazing! Tell me, do you have a master!?"
"I''m sure it was his grandmother who taught him fight!"
"Zayer, could you ask your grandmother to give us some pointers if we were to meet?" Joran asked rather in a sheepish manner.
"Zayer,I''m just too sure you have a master right?" Taylor was really envious of Zayer''s battle prowess.
Zayer looked at both of them in a rather calm manner. He could understand their emotion because he too had felt it a long time ago.
"A man is his own master. People like me believe in only this. We can never get a master and that is what we believe in as the Art of War"
"You may find it hard to believe it but it is the truth"
"Huh? You''re not joking right!? T-Then can you teach me a little of your techniques. It is okay if you teach me even just the basics!" Taylor asked earnestly.
Seeing Taylor''s serious expression, Zayer couldn''t help but sigh.
"F-Fine. I will give you some pointers but the training regime will be very harsh" Zayer replied with an indifferent expression.
"No problem. This junior agrees!" Taylor clasped his hands and bowed in respect.
A smile of satisfaction crept across Zayer''s face. He understood Taylor''s circumstances and his determination was unwavering.
"Okay. We will begin tomorrow"
"Yes!"
"Look at you too all friendly. I guess I''m being left out" Joran made a sad face.
"You can join if you want to"
"Relax, I was just kidding. If you don''t have any problem, then I Joran would like to join as well. I think this will be my first step in becoming an offensive mage!" Joran roared as he felt excited once again.
"Calm down Joran!" Zayer and Taylor tried to calm Joran down and began to laugh at his expression.
After the three calmed down, Taylor thanked Joran and Zayer for winning the tournament. He said it was the achievements of the two that made them win the tournament. Zayer and Joran were rather moved by his down to earth nature and didn''t rebuke him. Then the boys were excited to look at their beast cores. The three opened up their boxes to find an Earth Profound Beast Core!
"This seems to be a Core of a Wind Profound Beast! This will surely compliment with our Wind Affinity!" Taylor exclaimed as Zayer stared at him in confusion.
"So what''s the advantage?" asked Zayer.
"Well,we can absorb any beast core but if it has the same affinity as us,then the result will be much better. As you suck in the Qi from the core, it compliments with the affinity and doesn''t receive much backlash from body.
"Hmm. I''m sure this will let us breakthrough to the True Profound Realm!" said Joran.
"That depends on one''s talent! A person can only absorb 20-30 percent of the Qi from Core. Also, relying only on beast cores for cultivation will make you go insane or cripple your cultivation because of the berserk Qi it contains" Taylor gave a detailed explanation as he understood that lack of understanding could give path to great problems in the future.
"That sums that up. What about the five floors of the library?" asked Zayer.
"That indeed is a privileged for us! We can study high rank martial skills! The freshmen with a decent achievement only get to go up till the fourth floor. For them to access the fifth floor will take them at least two to three years!"
"It''s good to have a good head start" Joran smirked.
"Indeed. This will give us great opportunity to stay ahead of them"
Joran and Taylor began discussing while Zayer''s mind was filled with certain thoughts. As he began to think, Zayer asked
"Taylor, would you mind telling me something about the Three Great Heavens?"
"Three Great Heavens!?"

Chapter 14: The Ten Paths of Vajra
Chapter 14: The Ten Paths of Vajra
"Three Great Heavens?" Taylor was taken aback by the question
"Yes, what kind of a place is it?"
"The Three Great Heavens are the top rank Academies in the Three Thousand Realms of the Western Region of the Cosmos. As you know Zayer we live in the Western Region of the Cosmos which is regarded as the smallest region among the four parts. Our Gaspra Realm is considered below average when you compare it with the other realms of the Cosmos. But in the entire Western Region, there are three Academies which rival the powers of the other parts of the Cosmos"
"So the Three Great Heavens are the strongest in the Western Region?"
"Yes,they are but there are other powers with similar power in the Western Region"
"So, is there a chance for us to join the The Three Great Heavens?"
"Our Academy gives one chance to some students who have extremely good talent. When the student turns fifteen, he will be given a chance. But Zayer, you must realize that the chances of actually getting selected is less than one percent. The kind of talent which appear at the The Great Academies most of the time cannot be found in the whole of Gaspra Realm!"
"Well, I guess I should give it a try"
"With your talent, I wouldn''t be surprised if you were given a chance"
"I have three years to get as strong as possible! Are there any requirements for the selection?"
"You must have reached Sky Profound Realm by fifteen!"
"Hmm. The requirements are quite harsh. I don''t suppose there is anyone who qualified from our Academy?"
"Exactly. There is exactly no one who has qualified from the Academy"
"Well, I guess history will be changed"
"Just where do you get such confidence?"
"Guys! I''m hungry! Let''s go eat!"Joran began to shout as his stomach started to grumble.
Zayer and Taylor realized they would have a rough academy life with their eccentric roommate.
The day came to an end as the boys decided to head to towards the dining hall to eat. The boys had a journey to take, a long journey which would shape their lives, this was their martial journey!
It was morning once again as the students began to adapt themselves to the Academy life. Zayer and Taylor were standing in the training fields by themselves. Both of them held a wooden sword each. Zayer began to instruct Taylor on basic swordplay which made Taylor surprised as this was really a unique style.
"Well, those are some things which you should practice. The movements are basic but over time you will realize as to how important they are in shaping your way of the sword"
"Alright. I guess I''ll start my training" Taylor nodded in satisfaction.
Taylor began to perform his sword drills and some of the basic movement techniques. Zayer looked at him in approval because he realized Taylor really did have talent for swordplay.
It was now time for Zayer to practice on his own. He realized he had to start from scratch to have a stable cultivation. Zayer knew it wouldn''t take much time for him to reach Sky Profound Realm. According to calculations, he would reach Sky Profound Realm in a year and a half!
The reason for this was the black pearl! Every cultivator would absorb Qi from the surroundings and so did Zayer. But the absorption amount of a normal cultivator when compared to Zayer was Heaven and Earth! But advancing too fast also had it''s risks. Zayer wouldn''t be able to use his full potential.
To stabilize his warrior cultivation, he had no choice but to start from the beginning. He had to practice his foundation technique, the Ten Paths of Vajra.
The Ten Paths of Vajra was an ancient technique passed on from generations. The founder of the technique was unknown. It was one of the rare high level techniques of the sword. To successfully perform the technique,a cultivator''s mind should be calm as water. It was through patience that the ultimate power could be wielded.
Zayer held the wooden sword in his right hand as he stretched his hand upwards. He then brought his hand downwards and was horizontally pointed forward. He sank into a squat as he murmured
"Vaayu"
It was the initial position of the Vajra Style. The Vajra Style had ten different postures. Vaayu was the first, then came Jal, followed by Agni and so on.
He began to perform the ten different postures repeatedly. Each time he would do it at an increased pace. Each posture began to connect as Zayer began to perform them swiftly in a flow. The result was truly astonishing as he had become one with nature! The Qi from the surroundings began to once again flow towards him as if he was a vortex. He felt a barrier within him was about to break.
"Bang"
After constant nourishment from the Qi, a barrier had been broken. He was now in the True Profound Realm Peak Stage!

"Not bad, I just had a minor break through. I guess it''s now time for me to practice some strikes"
He began to take some stances and swing his sword. He was quite rusty with his skills as it had been some time since he practiced seriously.
The Ten Paths of Vajra was a style where one would combine postures to display the true might of the skill. The initial combination was of the posture Vaayu and Jal. Zayer stood motionless with his eyes closed as he was lost in his thoughts.
"As swift as the wind. As calm as Water. The silence shall not be broken"
Zayer popped his eyes open and began to swing his sword forward.
"Swoosh"
"Swoosh"
"Swoosh"
He executed multiple swings but there was absolutely no sounds of the swing. He didn''t stop just there as he continued to perform the same moments. He would strike the air with tremendous force, yet there would not be a drop of sound. The moments were flawless and it gave the sword a meaning for its existence. This was the sword technique of the Vajra Style, the Sublime Cut!
"Swoosh"
Zayer made a last swing of the Sublime Cut as he switched stances. He now stood in a different posture which was similar to the initial posture, Vaayu.
It was now time for him to combine the next posture, Agni.
"The Will of Fire and the Swiftness of Wind has no equal. Merge both to forge a path!"
His hands moved backwards as he prepared to throw a full swing. The power of the swing was many times more destructive. It was fast but not silent like the Sublime Cut. It contained the destructive force which the Sublime Cut didn''t have.
"Swoosh"
"Swoosh"
The sword made a loud sound as it swung upwards in the air. It once again split the air but what was frightening was the force behind it. It was extremely concentrated and it was as if each blow contained it''s own will.
This was the Rage Blaster!
After a thousand swings, Zayer came to a halt. He had expended all his energy by practicing the Ten Paths of Vajra. It had been four hours since they came to the training grounds. Taylor had watched everything Zayer did and imprinted each stance in his memory. He would practice them when he would be alone. Though he could imitate the movements, it would be really hard for Taylor to progress further as he need an understanding regarding the technique.
Zayer and Taylor headed back to their dorms. When they got back, to their surprise Joran was sitting cross legged in meditation. Zayer realized once again that everyone here wanted to pursue the path of power. To gain power, one had to work hard and persevere. Only then would they reach the Martial Peak!
The boys then decided to get something to eat and head for their first class. They decided to attend the Primary Wind Magic class which would be held later in the afternoon. This would be the only class that all the three of them would share. As to whether they would attend everyday, it was solely their choice.
The boys made their way to the class. All the gazes were on them as they entered and a look of envy, greed and jealousy were present in the eyes of some students. Some girls blushed red when they saw them as sparks had begun to fly on the first day of the Academy life.
The three of them were seated in the back of the class and quite a few places remained empty near them. It was clear no student wanted offend the three of them. It was time as the whole class waited for their teacher.
"Looks like everyone''s getting know each other. I don''t understand why no one wants to speak to us!?"
"Taylor, I don''t think you understand our position in this class. We won the tournament and we have the freshman ruler next to us. This treatment is pretty much normal" Joran said in a mild tone as he looked at the girls present in the class.
"Well, we just have to get used to it" Zayer nodded in approval.
The class which was noisy became absolutely silent as middle aged man walked in.
The teacher had arrived!

Chapter 15: Road to Dream
With the setting of the Sun at dusk, comes a new one tomorrow.
The Sun shall rise from the east and so does the purple mist. A rather famous saying in the Gaspra Realm which so happened to be told by a great martial artist who was also a scholar. More like a folktale to the young martial artists to motivate them to train in the early mornings.
The dawn approached once again and the young guns were full of energy. The seniors of the Academy were out training as usual but unfamiliar faces popped up everywhere. Those were the juniors who had just joined the Academy.
Zayer and the boys were up for some training with all the others. The Academy was a place of competition, you either rule or you obey!
Every student had a dream of their own. So what was a dream? Was it power? Was it fame? Was it wealth?
The answer to this is sometimes unclear. A student would want power to rule all. Once he had power, he would want fame. Once he had fame, he would want wealth as well.
The road to the dream was as unclear as the dream itself.
To the back of the Academy was the Cross Mountains, green as well as dangerous to any novice martial artists. One had to have decent strength to survive in the Cross Mountains.
Zayer bid farewell to the boys and told them to catch up with them after he had finished some solo cultivation.
Zayer''s aim was to reach the Cross Mountains and explore the area. His true aim was of course to find the mysterious energy his Third Eye could sense back from the Academy. He was pretty much intrigued to find out what it was.
As he reached the foothill of the mountains did he realise, that it was a mountain range! Weird screeches of monstrous beasts could be heard. The place though was covered with lush greenery, was rather deserted. In fact there was not a single martial artist to be seen anywhere nearby.
The pressure started to increase on Zayer as he felt some unknown beast locked onto to him.
"Someone really wants to play with me today. It''s been really long since someone actually targeted me!" Zayer sighed as he began to feel his adrenaline pump with excitement.
He raised his sword from the sheath and stood on guard as he surveyed his surrounding.
*Screech*
Without any notice, a Level 3 GoldWing Bat came gliding with it''s teeth ready to pounce onto some flesh.
The sword in his hand moved like an arc and came down in a familiar fashion
"Sublime Cut" Zayer echoed.
The GoldWing Bat was a monsterous beast which laid in wait for its prey and would only attack enemies which it felt confident about.
Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. It did not hesitate to rush but the outcome was rather severe.
*Slash*
The wing of the GoldWing Bat was severed in an instant. Before it could even screech another attack from Zayer followed.
*Slash*
The bird fell onto the ground motionless and laid dead. Immense screeching could be heard nearby as the scent of blood was all over the place.
"I don''t think I should stay here any longer. It''s catching too much attention." thought Zayer as he sped away into the mountains.
"This place is filled with intimidating beasts which I may not be able to beat at the moment. It''s better I don''t reveal my myself anywhere." Zayer sped through the mountain pass and realised it would be better to stay low for the time being.
"Gaspra Realm...What bullshit! Mages and Warriors....hahahahahahaha"
"These so called martial artists don''t really follow a true path, yet they segregate themselves into categories. What power is this in front of the Dao?"
Various thoughts sprung up in Zayer''s mind. Many from his past life where he was a like a devil that could never be tamed. He truly
didn''t understand the cultivation conventions of this world. Warriors followed a different path and so did the mages and yet they all
reached the same bottleneck while breaking through to higher realms.
Was there really need for such a segregation?
Zayer could feel the power source even stronger now. He was convinced that it had to be somewhere here.
A big tree as tall as a mountain could be seen from afar. The branches were huge too and long as atleast a kilometer!
A tiny ant like silhoutte approached the tree, it was Zayer himself.
The tree had huge pit next to it but suprisingly there were no beasts that Zayer could sense nearby.
"Seems like this place is a taboo for these monstrous beasts. More likely to be many times dangerous than themselves" Zayer smirked as he approached the pit.
As he looked at the huge pit from above, he could see an entrance. More like a staircase going down deep into the earth.
"Surprising to see this place left open in such a magnificent way." questions started to pop up in Zayer''s mind as the situation was too obvious. But his questions were all bombarded off his mind when he saw footprints all over the pit.
"Well there are footprints of people going in and coming out. Perhaps they really don''t understand what is inside this place" confusion seemed to be the place Zayer was in at the moment.
"Whatever it is, It''s just too tempting for me not to try it!" Zayer kept his hopes up and started to move towards the staircase.
Zayer began to move down the dark staircase and didn''t require light to move about inside. This was made possible due to his Third Eye ability. He didn''t want to catch too much attention either.
The staircase came to and end as it reached a hallway. The hallway was filled with dirt and insect like creatures.
The hallway was long but Zayer didn''t seem to care as he felt no danger around him. The hallway seemed to end and a door stood closed in front of Zayer.
"Let''s move you as well" Zayer tried pushing the door open.
The door moved slightly inside but didn''t really open up.
*Sublime Cut*
Without a moment to think Zayer slashed down on the door with his sword. When the sword began to slash down, blue lights emerged near the sword!
*Slash* *Boooom*
"Whaat?! Impossible! This can''t be!" Zayer was more shocked than he had ever been in his life in the Gaspra Realm.
He began to motion once again as he slashed down with his sword.
*Sublime Cut*
*Slash*
"MY DAO! IT''S MY DAO!" Zayer began to scream in excitement.
"It''s finally back! Just how is it possible? Wasn''t this world suppressing my Dao? Then what about the World Rule??"
Zayer was lost in his thoughts unable to understand the reason for this situation.
But, what was a Dao?
