 Prologue: Street Rat

    A door slams shut. A man with black and whiting hair and short trimmed beard cursing behind the door "Fucking gutter rats kill the lot of em''!" yelling to his wife.


    A small body lies in the filth of the alley way outside the butchers shop. Grim covers blonde hair to the point that its brown and in clumps matted to her body with some stray hair. Used clothes stolen from somewhere and thick with grim scratches her skin. Pain erupting from her back from the butcher tossing her into the wall. Small dirty hands clenching a small bit of raw meat in her hands taken from the buchers shop holding the life line of food.


    Slowly the girl gets up pain erupting from her back only holding her prize tighter as she runs from the butchers shop. Stone buildings line a stone street as bare feet run accross them. Less and less people lined the streets as those feet pattered the ground and those that did were wearing less clothes or looked more sinister as they pattered on.


    The girl stopped at an alleyway and ran through running through filth and grabage reaching a little alcove in the wall. Her hand pressed a single brick and a small door way opened up and she jumped inside before hastily closing it behind her. inside there were a bunch of kids around a metal can with a small fire. She hastily ran towards it hands showing her prize as small faces turned towards her.


    "Jewels what did you get today?" the older looking boy asked with a stern expression.


    The girl smiled as she presented a venisin steak from the butcher. A small cute chuckle comes from her mouth as she explains "Hehe, Leader i quickly slipped into the butchers shop and as he was talking to a customer sneaked into the back and nabbed it hiding it in my arms..." She frowned as she continued "But he noticed me slipping in at the last second and found me but didn''t notice i stole anything! but he threw me out"


    The older boy smiled "Good work Jewels although we all know food not your specialty leave the to Globber and Slobber they know when best but still good work" The older boy praised, but then the boy sobered up "Grab a bit larger portion this time we need you on your feet Jewels".


    *Jewels*


    Iran up to the can giving the food to Stew who smiled with slightly yellowing teeth and gave the girl two apples and a steamed bun and the little girls stomach growled. "Leader says I can have a larger portion today Stew" The girl smilled showing her baby teeth.


    Stew glared at the girl begrudgingly handing her a second steam bun and the girl skipped off. Happy to eat for the first time in two days. The boys yesterday didnt nab any food yesterday leaving us all hungry as all off felt the hunger pains. The meat I gained today was a bonus to go towards the boys too keep them stronger so i never made a issue with leader over the meat I gained. Today the boys out did themsleves with their desperation to get food and winter will be in a month or so. i ran to the corner of the hidden room we all stay in and ate my food away from others.Love what you''re reading?     We are a small gang of orphans living in a hidden room from time in the city of Armoss. Leader found the room a couple months back by luck and we all followed him to live here as hiding is the best thing when it comes to the city guards. Our group is now risen to infamy with the city guards as the gutter rats that can hide too damn well. I smile at the thought. I was known as Jewels with quick fingers I am our pick pocket and theif of higher end stuff.


    Leader not to long ago met some fences that wanted their rivals hurt and im the one that did the dirty work. But my name came from my obsession with them. I have some stones in my pockets i never gave to fence from one of my jobs an nice clear one the size of my thumb is my favorite. I had a real hard time on that job not with the theft itself but where it was.


    The job was in the noble district far from the slums and i stand out. I had to go at the darkest of nights with no moon and creep in. now i have this stone that i love so clean and pure i can stare at it for hours. But other than me we have Globber and Slobber both of which are in charge of our food stealing and security. Stew and she is in charge of food once taken. Rat who spys on the other gangs and information and never forgets to steal from them when he can and leader keeping us all together.


    Foot steps come closer and i see leader coming towards me and i smile at him as im finishing my food. "Jewels a fence wants you to hit a house tommorow" he looks at me and i tilt my head.


    "Leader who does he want me to hit?" I ask it is weird for leader not to just tell me and i just go do it when right.


    "The Noble family Whites. Apparently they have a enemy thats willing to paya ton in goldfor the noble family to take a hit with no connections to them." he did not look happy to say that. But continued "They are also willing to pay up front enough gold for all of us to eat for a year we need this but only if you say yes"


    I look at him in dismay. The Whites are a famous family here as the noble family who owns half of Armoss or so i heard. A year of food though up front was good though most of my other jobs excluding my side jobs pay for a month of food. "Leader a day is too soon i need to see what missings there are and how i can get in three days is the earliest i can do. If they have a problem with that then they can go lick Slobber for all i care i wont do it but i can take a look tommorow night." i say putting on a air of confedence but knowing that the money upfront was to much to down turn but if i rush i will get caught.


    "Alright you got it Jewels but we need this please do it tommorow night if they pay me and wont take the delay." leader sternly said and my head lowers and i reluctently nod. Leader slowly gets up ruffles my hair and walks off to talk to the others and i lay down to get some sleep.

    I awake and everyone else is asleep in our home and i slowly get up and ready i might have told leader that I will start tommorow but from how he talked im going to be doing it tommorow night and i need to scout. I leave our hidden home and slowly creep out into the alley way and towards the noble district.

 Prologue: The Little Thief

    My feet make little noise and on a dark night with little moon light not fully risen i make my way the streets looking cleaner and cleaner guards more frequent. I hide and sneak through the streets, The guards do not welcome my kind. I''m traceless in the night as I reach the inner city walls of Armoss. Guards on top of the wall patrolling and at the gates. Stone has one problem though its climbable when build with small cracks in the wall between stones. It is not a easy climb though but my small fingers fit enough for a grip.


    I slowly creep up the walls and its a long climb but I already know my route its not the first time i have climbed this wall and wont be the last. As i reach the top the guards are walking by and i hold myself up my arms and legs getting sore holding me up. The guards pass by and I make the final stretch leaping over onto the other side and climb down very carefully. One thing i noticed when i climb these walls its easier on my arms and legs to go down, but its a lot more difficult to find places to put my feet and takes longer then going up.


    I finally make it to the bottom i dash to a hiding spot nearby to rest up. I always climb the same spot for three reasons. First it has a blind spot from the guards on the way up at the gate so i can get to the wall and high enough before anyone looks. Second the patrol never stops there for some reason but the first time i planned to get into the Noble district and they just don''t. Last reason is there is two shops near the wall on this side and a little hiding spot where these houses meet and a small hole i can slide into and hide loot that is to heavy. The hole breaks into the nobles sewer line but the hole is small and i just get in. I also dubbed this my treasure trove.


    I have robbed a lot of stores in the nobles district and out the guards have been ramping up looking for me but they do not expect that my loot isnt far from them. I crawl in and look over my loot with a smile one day i will get this and run to another city or kingdom sell it where no one knows its stolen. I also keep tools here though making this a must stop for me.


    I take a moment looking at my loot, my treasure of pretty rocks that i know are valuable but are for myself. No the real loot here are the rings and weapons and armour i have each with a feeling of power. I stole tese from magic shops only value to nobles that call themselves mages but they have money to pay a lot.


    But eventually my mind wanders to the job that im suppose to do. There were two places in the city I dont rob. First is the mages tower on the far end of the Nobles district because magic is unknown i dont know how to deal with it i just steal quietly from places that sell the stuff with a loop hole people for some reason do not think about where they go to the bathroom is a hole you can crawl up without enchantments in all of those places. The Second places is those of nobles they are guarded to the max with personal guards even inside, dogs outside and enchantments on the house.


    I frown all those reasons were in place still but the money now was needed. Did need take over safety is the question tonight. I moved to the back of my treasure cove to how i get around in the noble district like my back yard the sewers. move the bricks that are in place that make it look like the wall and slip into it moving the bricks back.


    The Sewers in the Noble district are cleaner then the streets of the slums but not by a lot. There was a water way with a stone path beside it to move the filth to where the nobles didnt see it the slums. At some point the sewers surface to the city somewhere in the slums but the city guards guard that spot and make use of it as a punishment post. No one wants to guard the sewers i heard guards say when one of them were gossiping and i agree. It smells its filthy but its not any worse then the slums where i live. I creep along the path walking by lanes that ive robbed in the past.


    The path to the Whites place is a place I know in the sewers but never been down the passage way because its a nobles place. As such i continued for a while going down tunnels in a maze going to every part of the nobles places until i reach the the tunnel that takes me to their house and stop. I slowly peek down it and only see anouther tunnel down the way. A slow down even further and make sure that not even a footstep rings out or a patter these tunnels echo. Thats when i start to hear voices in the connecting tunnel and i creep forward sticking to the darkness.


    "Then the little bitch bites me man i couldnt beleve it so i smack her so hard she gets knocked out." I hear a voice say. Another replying "Well did you still fuck her anyway i mean you were there anyway just ''cuz she new wouldnt stop me" "Of course i did I spent 5 silver to get a fresh tight one Im not wasting that" the first voice sounded insulted that he thought otherwise and i tuned out there brothel talks wasnt a place i wanted to be and glad i was picked up by leader then the sick fucks running those places.


    The Guards were sitting at a table with smoke in a small little pot in the middle making the place smell better with some drinks. Totally into their conversation with a door slightly open but the sewer water way continued forward but without the walkway on the side.     I get in slowly not making a sound with my pack in my hands i hug the side with the guards and use my feet to go up the waterway without a sound. The Guards so into the conversation the dont notice me slip by into the closed off area. I creep for a bit before it opens into another area with guards on the side but they seem more into the job or a silence that seems like someone just said something they shouldnt. I pause. I peek the corner with my head enough to hear and see.


    The Silence was pregent and i was hoping it would be over soon between these two guards they are holding me up but they seem insistant on not looking at each other and everywhere else. I wait and wait when finally someone says something. "Dude I didnt know she was your wife." That was all it took and the one hit the other in the face. The two ended up in a brawl and i made my way past a little quicker then i would like but still silent. Then i made it past with hearing footsteps going towards the brawlers as they yelled at each other.


    Distraction on the guards i can even hear up ahead the footsteps going away. I moved faster leaving stealth behind as the noise covered my movement. I came to the next ledge and i left the water into another chamber and i looked around that smell stuff going i looked around with several small tunnels and i almost smile but i refuse to. Those are my way in.


    I take a second and find the one moving the cleanest water and go into that water way with my pack above my head. I pick the cleanest water ''cuz it means its the least used. As i move forward i enter a dark tunnel with no light and i use one hand to hold my bag the other to feel when the roof gone when it is i feel infront of me for the walls and get my to work unlike city walls these surfaces tend to be smother and i use this item i call wall climbers to climb up i have no idea how they work but they do. i stand up and take my wall climbers out and slowly make my way up.


    After a bit of climbing i encounter some steel grate with just enough room for me to sqeeze past. I stand on the grate and lift the stone cover ever so slowly and met with a dark bathroom. I crawl out of the sewer and use some cloths they have around to wipe myself down and throw them back into the sewers i dont want to leave a wet trail so i take my time. Its night time and i dont want them to notice a mess or track me until Im long gone.


    After starting i noticed a small bit of soap and i use that to confuse my smell and wipe the dirty water off me. After 5 clothes that i disposed of in the sewer I creep up to the door. I slowly open it and peek around the corner and see a empty hall with no light i slowly creep out into the house making sure to leave the door open a crack and start to memorize my route back to the bathroom. I hear in the distance what I am pretty sure are servants. The first door I see though is a big wooden double doors. Not far from where I can escape so lets give it a shot. I slowly open it with a slight creek it gives way to a bedroom.


    SCORE! if im right this is no servents quarters this is the motherlode of someone importants room Jewels there should be Jewels. I smile and creep in slowly making as little noise as possible and i hear snores erupt all of the sudden almost makeing me sqeal in fright. In the room to my right is a mirrior showing a messy filth swiped little girl atop a dresser with items on top to my left was a huge bed and a girl older then me snoring. There was another door by the dresser which is the next spot i will check out. I get to the dresser and look at the things on top a brush with jewels as a back, A green pin that looked pretty with white rocks on the top. I take them and put it in my pack. i look over the desk and see vials of liquid since a noble has them on display they must be of value. I creep over to the door thats beside the dresser and open it slowly and it doesnt make a noise and i see clothes. Lots of clothes some i wish i could take and fence but would be ruined by my escape. I look for things that i can clean later and have value.


    After looking i find it the Treasure trove of this girl and i caught myself drawn to it like i could never stop looking. This girl had my dream inside was another room of just Jewels necklaces and bracelets and crown looking things and rings i wanted it all. I take myself out of a trance and i head back to her clothes and grab a bag looking thing with nothing to close the top. I start grabbing my loot. Only small stuff rings braclets and necklaces all cleared out and into my bag then pins and my bag was getting full. I couldnt take more than this or i wont make it out and the fence gets what he needs.


    I slowly take my way out of the treasure room and close it behind me I make my way out from the clothes and close that door behind me and lastly the bedroom and dont close it.... It Creaks. I get back to the bathroom and get in the sewers closing the lid as i go ever so slowly. My feet on the grate i lower myself down slowly and creep my way back the guards are still mising and i hear yelling still but no longer sounds like a arguement. I creep in the waterway one hand making sure my loot stays in the bag in the water the other my tools out. i get by the three guard checkpoints i think they are called with no one there they must be with their boss. I got out i got lucky and stole from a noble i crawl out of the water way once Im out from the checkpoints line of sight and make it slowly and make it back to my treaure trove.


    New loot in hand I smile and hide out looking at it all. Jewels you did it again and this time you have enough for a life time. After some time with my loot i take the pin as proof im the one who did it and crawl out of my Treasure trove after hiding it all in there and start my trek up the wall and down back to the Slums. I hide the pin as my small feet patter the dark streets back to home. Smile and all.

 Prologue: Nobles Rage

    I made it back to the alleyway and slip in to home closing the door behind me and I smile. It was almost day time out and the others are getting up. I make it to my corner and I lay down but leader didnt seem to be happy and stops me.


    "Jewels where were you?" he wasnt happy as he asked that.


    But I smile "Job complete leader" I show him the pin and hand it to him. "Go to our fence and collect."


    He stops looking dumbly at the pin. I answered before he asked "I found a hole and got lucky a big distration happened and it was then or never and ended up with a job well done."


    He smiles Big yellow toothy grin. "WELL DONE JEWELS! WELL DONE!" He almost yelled but everyone heard him. Grinning he answers everyones questioning gaze. "Jewels just got us our meal ticket for a year."


    Everyone cheered but Leader put a damper, "For now the money isn''t in our hands so we do things as usual and gether all same jobs today as usual im going to take Jewels to the fence and collect the money." He continued giving orders to the others as a lay my head down and sleep Im use to noise around me and catch what sleep I can.

    Not much later Leader shakes me and tells me to get moving. It hasnt been long but everyone has left with the exception of us. We exit and leave our home and go closer to the noble district to see the fence. we spend a bit of time but as we walk the people flood the street going to work or to shop but mostly to work in the docks or towards the exit of the city. We make it to the Pawn shop that the fence owns and Leader takes us to the back door knocks four times then two times then five times and waits


    We wait for a bit before a older sleezy looking man but cleaner looking then us comes out. "Well you takig the job?" right to the point.


    "Yup money first we know what happens if we dont though." Leader says.


    "Good i want this done quick" He hands a bag that clinks into Leaders hand.


    We both smile and Leader hands him the pin "Yours as proof a job well done." The man pales ghost white. "You did it already?"


    "Last night I speak up deals done pleasure doing theft with you." I smile and leader and i walk away. As we walk away all we hear is "Oh shit I''m Fucked"


    I lose my smile but we pick up our pace instead. Shortly after we get out and a bit down the street guards close off the street and storms the pawn shop and all directions on the street scaring everyone. Leader with the coins in hand tries to run but everyone was captured. The guards are rounding everyone up in the street when a carriage pulls up. A tall male Noble and a female Noble get out and walk into the pawn shop.


    The Guards round everyone up when a bruised bleeding man is thrown out of the shop with two guards on his heels. The guards and the fences eyes sweep the crowd and he points at me and leader. I will admit now im scared the Guards grab me and leader and force us into the house. Behind us the fence is forced back in. After being dragged in the guards hit the back of leaders leg then mine forcing us to our knees. Infront of us is the tall noble with the girl. The male was a blonde short hair slightly longer on the top then the sides clean shaven with a elegant feel around him but his face showed fury. The women was also blonde but with Brown eyes and her long hair to her waist and a elegant dress.     The man inspects us not saying a word. He looks at leader and he returns his gaze which earns him a strike in the head from a guard. I just shake trying to stay small and silent hoping to be over looked. Finally after a pause with tension in the air.


    "Which one of you did it?" He says elegantly with traces of fury undertone. Leader casts me a glance then smiles. "She didnt do it i did." When he did a guard cut his head off. No hesitation and leader died with a reassuring smile on his face and blood splurted up but away as a guard kicked the dead body away from the nobles.


    A sigh escaped the lips of the man "Its a penalty of death to lie to a Noble gutter rat." He looks at me and Im shaking. "Now little boy or girl did you rob my place"


    I froze my voice wanted to deny my instincts told me to deny but my head knew that if I lied he''d kill me but still i had no voice. I only nod shaking and looking at that elegant face. "Good now why did you do it last night?" he said like that was the sin.


    "Wh- Wh- What?" I stuttered out


    "You see the guards wanted you captured but you were always so slippery no one knows how the Jewel thief made it in or out. We wanted you to show us the hole in our defenses but you robbed us the day before and got out us none the wiser I''m impressed" He frowned "What i didnt expect was you to make off with over Fifty-Thousand gold worth of Jewelry and a pin my sister loves from the crown prince. We have the pin but nothing else the fence said you gave him that as proof but thats all..." He trailed off waiting for my answer.


    I looked at him dumbfounded. Why would a noble involve himself in theft cases it was above their dignity but the why is not what i need to think about i need to live i want to live. My brian goes into overdrive thinks possible escapes and ways out. No running guards everywhere my only option is the Noble the sisters faces is showing her hatred on her face for me.


    "What do you want from me?" My voice is alien to me cold and steady my shaking stops all their is, is Survival. I need to live.


    "Hoooh" The noble continues to look at me but now with eyes impressed not fury. "I want my sisters Jewelry back and only you know where it is but thats not all i want to know how you got in and all those other shops what is the one thing that ties all of us together."


    "Everyone shits" I replied coldly.


    Everyone around looks at me with disgust including the man infront of me. "Ooooh, Im both impressed and disgusted but there is no way up and i have guards even there in our house how then you couldnt make it up the guard posts."


    I couldnt help but laugh this was a secret i wanted to take to my grave and my insane laughter continues for a moment. "No you dont get it Mr. Noble Everyone shits i just crawled up where you do it." The noble looks with utter disgust at me.


    "Fucking gutter rats disgusting." He takes a moment. "So let me get this straight you climbed up our sewage into all of these places and robbed us not only us but the shops."


    Without missing a beat i smile. "Nobles shop keepers Enchant and use guards to protect everywhere else but where they go to the bathroom is a blind spot who is willing to enchant the bathroom no mage would set up runes there like all other nobles no one is willing to do it. Then a gutter rat like me needs to eat and only need to think of it and be small enough to fit."


    The Noble man looks at me in shock disgust no longer on his face but his sister speaks up. "Brother lets be done with this I want my Jewelry back"


    "No" I say simply. "They are my life line my treasure i will die before i reveal them since im dead if i do"


    The mage looks at me with rage again. "Fine little one you want to live dont you?"


    I nod.


    "Here is the deal you will have a chance a single chance i will offer it once and i will swear a binding oath on my mana." He says seriously "We will take you in as a servent on three conditions First you show us where you stashed ALL your loot and treasure and second we will have you tested and you have at least magic of D level in one field. Third is you swear and oath to serve our house if you pass the prior conditions Otherwise we kill you here and now and we take our losses."


    I look at him and I see my escape I smile. I have a chance. "I swear my Master"

 Chapter 1: Treasure be in that hole

    "Decisive little gutter rat" The Noble man smiles on the elegant face. "What is your name Slave?" The Noble man is staring at me.


    "They call me Jewels Master" I reply in that cold clipped voice that isnt mine. It speaks of another person who is not scared. All i have in my mind is ''I want to live'' on constant repeat over and over as the Nobles infront of me have my life in their hands. I just want to live.


    "No hesitation in giving up your freedom little gutter rat but Jewels makes sense for a thief that has stolen as much as you." He looks around thinking. "I like that name for you Slave if you survive to become one of our servents I will let you keep it."


    "Brother your not really going to bring in this Filth?" The Nobles sister asks disgust and contempt not hidden at all.


    "Sister look past the filth and dirt and look at the qualities of this rat. Regardless of even that we might not even have to if this rat doesnt even fufil the conditions just to become our Slave sister. No matter what in this we come out ahead as a Noble look for oportunities to make win win situations dear sister. Never turn down a win, win situation and we have complete control." The noble letures his sister and she huffs not liking what she hears.


    The Noble looks displeased at his sister and then looks back at me. "Now Rat you shall bring us to fufill the first condition... Which district is your stash located?"


    I shake a little and my body trembles I have had two things that mean everything to me food and my loot. My knees are in the blood of Leader who provided my food and now my loot. "Master it is in the Noble district." My voice stays steady but my body betrays how scared I am.


    The Nobles eyes widen and looks at me and says "Ooooh, Interesting...." he trails off for a second. "Guards we shall be departing soon take that trash there and dispose of it" pointing at leaders still headless body. "Then take the fence and try him for conspiricy aganst a Noble." Two guards nod and put his orders into motion. "The other two take this rat and make sure it doesnt get away and leads us to her stash." He ponders for a moment then looks at me. "Also get another carriage before we set off. My Sister and I will not be with this rats loot." The Guards run off leaving two stationed behind me ready to take me when the carriage arrives. The Noble man ponders for a while longer as his orders are exicuted and his sister huffs clearly doesnt want to be here.


    Suddenly the Noble man turns to his sister. "We are going." Like that they both left the pawn shop and the guards Grab me by my arms and carry me out with my feet dangling. A second carraige arrived and the entourage of carriages and guards slowly leave the slums towards the Noble district.


    We just arrived to the gates when i motion for them to stop after going through them. "Just a little down the alley between this shop and the wall." I say meekly defeated. The carriages come to a stop and The Noble man comes out walks over to me with the guards still holding me.


    "Drop her and she will show us the way" He states simply and the guards do just that my feet not ready for my weight and i fall on my ass whimper a little but scramble to my feet as fast as i can. I don''t say anything just walk over to the hole my treasure trove my dreams, My Life. Everything i have done to now as acumulated in this hole between two shops.     My mind goes crazy i could escape run into the sewers no one could catch me in the sewers. But then my mind stops and asks me one thing "Then what" and that is the thing then what I hide in the sewers to starve crawl out of shitholes in the ground to eat then hide the noble knows where my exit and entrance is and the only other ones are in shops homes and the slums all of which are guarded. I slump my shoulders and crawl into my Treasure trove and my memories go back to when i found it.


    It was two years i think ago and I crawled over the walls thinking it was going to be easier then i thought but sheer willpower got me over and i needed to hide and there this was a hole i can crawl into in the guards blind spot such a good spot. I ran as fast as i could silently to it and crawled in and slid in the rest of the way. The hole was a lot larger than i thought that i could stand it was a hideout with nothing but louse dirt like someone had started something then stopped. Then there were louse bricks leading somewhere on the other side from where i came and it lead to the sewers attachment of the shop above me.


    Thats what started my Thief days and i robbed more and more stores and homes in the noble district I was going more often and then Leader started to lend my servces out to fences on compition in the slums. The only thing i couldnt steal from was the regesters with the gold seeing as it was enchanted to be anti-thief so I gathered items and Jewels too heavy to be brought over the wall to be sold or too hot with it showing up would get a person arrested. Eventually i kept most of my loot here when my dream started to form of leaving the city with all of it and selling it where it could be sold legally living life without worries. As it acumulated though the Stash got smaller and smaller as i used dirt to hide items and bags so that if someone looked in all they would see is a hole.


    Now i had to crouch i no longer slid in and with just enough room to move around and make it to the sewer exit. I sigh and a tears escape and roll down my cheeks. I use my fingers to dig out my latest loot from the Nobles house and push it out of the hole. "We were wondering if you were going to try and escape rat... Good thing you know whats good for you." A Guard shouted into the hole and my tears drop a little faster as I dig out more and more and pass it up and out of the hole.


    Time passes and my trove is storing less and less of what i had gathered. Sobbing now as my favorite steals and memories of my happiness from the thefts. But i dig and dig uncovering Jewels, Magic items, Bracers and more leaving my Treasure Trove. I Sob as I finally reach what was last my Favorite Stone a that they call a diamond. I just love the clear stone though with no flaws Its just perfect and whenever i looked at it I couldnt stop so i buried it under dirt. I crawl out to amazed guards hauling my stuff back to the extra carriage. Just that sight and I let out a sob but stop any more. I hold up my Favorite stone and present it to my Master. The man whom i am giving my freedom to. "This is all of it Master" Tears streaming down my face but not one bit touches my cold voice and I vow that this will be the last time i cry.


    The noble simply stared at me with suprised eyes. "This is more than I thought you were a real blight on the shops in the Noble district." He smiles at the end and Laughs at something only he thinks of. "Lets Go back to the house we have to wash this rat before we go to the mage tower."


    I was picked up again and carried along heading forward into the unknown for me as my freedom is gone my dream ruined. Tears stream down my cheeks as i realize everything is gone. I vow to me that i will survive no matter the cost. I will Surivive.

 Chapter 2: The Oath

    Dispair and hope are all i know as the entourage makes its way quickly to the White''s mansion in Armoss. The steep walls were white and smooth to the touch made by mason''s who knew their trade. Guards patroled the walls with a frequency that left no blind spots during the day maybe at night visiblity would open up a slight flaw. The Stone Gates were further guarded by six guards showing the familys infulance compared to other nobles. The Whites family even in the slums was among the names every criminal not to cross. Jewels knew this when Leader asked her this job but the money was too much she planned on taking some of it towards getting her stash out of the noble district but that dream is dead. The Whites were famous for getting more out of getting hurt then the person hurting them. They were ruthless every person whom crossed them. The mansion on the other side was more like a palace but nothing but the Lord of Armoss was considered to live in the Castle making the Whites home called a Mansion instead of a Castle but i could still take an assult.


    The stone gate was opened as if pulled by an invisable force as the entorage apporached the gate and we entered through. The Masion was a fortress of White as if to shove who lived here in your face. It was intimidating with guards on patrol everywhere. The entourage stopped at the infront of two solid stone doors and the Noble man and his sister got out and gracefully entered the Mansion the two guards holding me followed them in through the self opening stone doors. Inside was a work of art but i had no eyes to look at it i was staring at my new Master as he had stopped and looked at me.


    "There is no way I am showing up at the Mages Tower with a Gutter rat covered in filth they would be insulted." He simply said "Unload the second carriage into the treasury find an appraiser to take a look at it all." he was looking at me but a Servent whom appeared at his side as soon as he started talking. I didnt notice him at first but my eyes were only on my chance to live.


    "At once Young Master I will have the maids clean her and dress her. Everything else will be taken care of by tommorow." The man said bowing.


    The Noble stopped him "You misunderstand the amount of stuff needing aprasial get a more than one and give them a week to finish. Also finish cleaning this gutter rat by afternoon." He said a smirk on his face as he still looked at me.


    "At once Young Master." He disappeared not a single foot step rang out as he briskly walked away. My eyes couldn''t stop looking in envy at how silently he moved when fingers move infront of my face and snapped. I started frightened looking at the Noble now right infront of me.


    "Now Jewels I will tell you what is going to happen." He walked back his nose scrunched, "We are going to clean you and give you some clothes for now but we still have the second condition to fufill. I am in a good mood right now Jewels your stash was larger than i thought so we will not be so rough with you as long as you continue co-operate with us dont and we will not be nice, But you know this."  He smiled he turned to look at his sister who was standing there cursing everyone.


    "Brother i do not understand what you are doing but I no longer want to be part of it this rat is just that a rat with stinking fingers. I want my Jewelry cleaned and sent back to me." She said and stormed off.


    The Noble man sighed and looked at me smiked and left just as a maids showed up. The maid wore a white dress with a black apron infront. What happened next to me was something I didnt fully regester as the Guards walked with me in their hands as the maid led to a bath house and i was dropped into the maids hands and whisked in and washed scrubbed painfully as years of filth as dirt were washed off as other maids came in to switch the water multiple times and my skin was scrubbed raw. My hair was then next as it was scrubbed then an unfamiliar cream into it followed by a brushing so painful that tears threatened to come out. After they gave me a simple white dress  that covered me and thats all. I didnt like the dress it stands out to much but the maids looked at me like I was something adorable. "Such a cute girl" or "How adorable" and things like "Can i take her home" were all I heard for a while before the maids whisked me i was out of the bath house and I was at the front in a daze.


    The Noble was waiting at the there looking annoyed. He looked at me suprised then his face went back. "Your late but at least your appearance is acceptable." The guards this time escorted us out the front and into the carriage waiting. This time The Noble let me in with him and we were on our way to the Mage Tower of Armoss. "Now Jewels the Mage Tower is something that the Whites do not fear but do not insult. You will not use those sticky fingers there or lose them we are there to see if you pass my second condition do become a servent at our house. Do you understand what i mean." He asked.


    Of course i knew that i could not offend mages they will kill me every gutter rat knew that. But I just looked at the Noble man and spoke simply, "Yes Master I know to keep my fingers to myself I will follow your instructions to the letter."     "Good I have sent a message to the Mages Tower to expect us. We will soon find out what your fate will be and I wonder what it will be." He looked blank for a second and smiled with a smile that sent chills down my spine. "I kinda hope you dont but either way works for me Jewels. Either works for me."


    I had regained my calm but this man just sent a new fear through me. I dont know what it was but he felt like those men on the streets that smile when looking at certain people and they are never seen again. I learned on the streets to aviod these men that look. Instead of saying anything though i held my toungue and hoped. We sat in silence with the Noble man looking at me from time to time but saying anything.


    Eventually the carriage stopped and The noble man got out and I followed behind him but my mouth dropped as i gazed upon the Mages Tower. The Mages tower was not really a tower but a tall black building that stacked on itself getting smaller the more up it went but it glowed with a aura that mesmerized me. I quickly got control of myself as the Noble man walked up to a older man with White hair and a trimmed white mustashe and in blue robes. "Welcome Young Master White we were shocked when you said you wanted someone evaluated." He said it with a smile and leaving it open like he expected something.


    "Yes well I have reasons. Still I am suprised they sent a Full Mage instead of a Scholar." The noble said quickly.


    "I just happened to be free don''t think to much into it Young Master White." The mage replied and we all went in the open archway of the mages tower. "Now Young.... I am sorry I do not have your name Youngling." Now staring down at me he asked.


    I look at my Master and he nods, "I''m Jewels."


    "Interesting well Jewels we are going into a room to measure your mana if you have it and what you specialize in and your affinity to it. There are No affinity, G, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS and finally X. Those are the ranks of affinity G is barely usable and negligible where as X is useing it as if your a god of said element and no one has ever achived it in centuries. The Mage tower will teach anyone above D affinity. You can raise your affianty with your elements." He lectured as we walk in black halls with that same aura and many items on display and finally we came to a wooden door that we stopped at.


    Entering he stepped in and continued his lecture, "Now the affinities are Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Life, Darkness, Time and finally Dimension. Now each of these are rare with Time and Dimension being the rarest followed by Life and Darkness then the four elements." Inside the room it was almost bare with the exception of a clear orb or somthing hovering in the room at he center above my head hight but still reachable.


    "What this room does is pull out your mana by force and shows us the affinaty and the amount of mana you have. Now amount of mana is negligable at your stage since you have never trained in it therefore if you have any it will be a small amount. Mana is something you train to achive what we want is to see the affinity of the mana if you have any." he paused looking at me, "Now what your going to do is put your hand on that orb in the center of the room and it will glow depending on if you have mana and your affinity. The colour the orb changes to is the affinity the brighter it is how close your mana is to that element. Now the Colours are Red for fire, Yellow for Earth, Blue for Water, Green for Air, White for Life, Black for Darkness, Silver for Time, Gold for Dimension." He looked at me, "Ya thats it we can now find out what you are Jewels put your hand to the orb now."


    I looked at him and smiled and put my hand to the orb. What came next was a weird feeling as it felt something was slowly being pulled from me it was unpleasent. As the feeling got stronger the orb started to glow and tears of joy left my eyes and the orb started to change to a Solid Gold shining brighter. Soon when the pulling stopped the gold light from the room was shining super bright to my eyes and the mages eyes were wide and had a big smile.


    "Well, well, well this is a suprise." The noble man said simply a big smile on his lips. "What is the rating?"


    "She is an extreamly rare S rank affinity Dimension mage." The Mage said awed. "We can not teach her here though she needs to go to the magic academy at the start of the new year. Infact this is something that I will call the mages there personally this talent needs to be groomed Young Master White." The mage quickly left the room forgeting himself in his haste.


    My knees buckle and i hit the ground relief evedent tears streak my face and the noble looks at me. His smile is huge, scarey but he still swore an oath. "Jewels you fufilled the conditions. Now swear an oath in these words Jewels. ''I hereby decree my loyalty to Young Master White as his servent to follow his orders on my Mana till either his Death or my own'' Exactly that Jewels or you are dead."


    I made it i knew this was coming every part of me hated it and something in the back of me head told me not to but i wanted to live and instinct told me to so the words poured out. "I hereby decree my loyalty to Young Master White as his servent to follow his orders on my Mana till either his death or my own" as i finished something happened and i felt something tugged at me and the mage came back in at some point and looked in horror at what was happening.


    "I hereby accept Jewels Loyalty till mine or her death." The Noble said and something happened and I fell on my face. Something felt torn from me I didnt know what but it hurt and i twitched on the ground. Everything around me going dark. My body was adapting to something as what felt torn before came back to me different. I then enveloped in darkness my vision went my body trembled and I heard shouting but i couldnt understand I felt hands on my body but couldn''t move. I stayed in the blackness as i was laid on something hard and it moved. I was scared of this feeling it felt like a lifetime between everything was slow and my fear developed of the darkness. At some point someone picked me up and again a lifetime came and went before i was put on something soft.


    I was Scared of this Darkness. "Someone Help" I pleaded for the first time in my head.

 Chapter 3: Darkness

    Darkness swirled as she laid on a soft thing. Nothing else her body felt that strange thing and was slowly going around her body. As time passed she felt hands touch her again rubbing her softly then nothing again. As time passed she eventually focused on the power that felt like it was invading her and slowly focused on it. Her mind only had that to focus on so she spent her entire being into it.


    For what felt like days she could not grasp it. Once and awhile someone outside the darkness would touch her or something to her body but she slowly toned that out and focused completely on it. Time passed in her world of darkness and the power that did not feel right invaded her more and more when finally she grabbed it with her mind.


    It was only for a brief moment but it gave her hope to continue. More and more she grabbed at it until she finally took hold of this power grasping it with a hand in her mind. Still the main part was the only thing she had as it had left traces of it around her entire body making it feel wrong. While still holding a now struggling object in her mind she split her focus slightly to gather what had already invaded her. Time passed as she would lose focus or the object shook free and continued to invade her she finally learned how to split her focus on both gathering it rements and holding onto it with her mind.


    More and more time passed in her mind as she slowly gathered it all back into a ball and held it in her mind and did not know what to do with it. She made a mental projection of herself as she held it. Then she made her projection hold it. She was lost in this darkness nothing else to aid her to get out. Then she tried pushing the object out. This seemed harder to do and took more time in her darkness to do so. Slowly she grew acustomed to this dark world and eventually pushed the object out. It felt like relief when it was out and then something changed. Slowly the world was no longer dark and like she had only had her eyes closed the entire time they opened and the world was back.


    She was laying on a soft bed with white sheets a wooden door to her right grey stone walls a small mirror beside the door. Tears of joy came. No more darkness I can see the light. As she was looking at this room her body felt something rushing into her and filling her it felt like her and what she had lost originally when she swore the oath to the Young Master White something nagged her in the back of her head with that thought. Her Master and it stopped nagging her. She felt a compulsion to go to him now.


    She tried getting out of the bed but her knees buckled and instead she fell making a loud noise as she now dealt with the pain. Seconds later the door opened out and someone walked in. "Well, Welcome back Jewels." It was her Master and she could tell the compulsion stopped.     I weakly look up at my Master he wore a black robe and stared down at me. "Mas-Ter" I barely got out.


    "Ah yes food you are to weak to be of service right now i will have a maid go fetch some from the cook it should be dinner time soon and you are famished." He walked away and I could hear him say something indistinct and came back. "Now I have a lot to tell my new Personal Maid." He smiled at me that evil grin that scares me. "But you need to know more about everything all your~ duities. I will also start a basic education with you for the Magic Academy you will be attending with me starting in a month or so. I have a lot to train you on and it will be a complete ''Education''" That same smile on his face as he talked. "Now food should be here for you soon and i will tell you what you went through and why and more after you eat and can get on your feet. After another week of recovery we can start other training we cant have you getting sick during this crunch time it wo-" a light knock on his door intrupted him and he walked away again.


    A maid showed up with her white dress with a black apron and had a bowl in her hand. "Here is the food Young Master told me to help you back onto the bed and help you eat." She said her voice soft and comforting with a small smile. She put the bowl aside on the edge of the bed before slowly helping me up and back onto the bed. Slowly she fed me and after a few bites my appitite came back and my stomach ached for more but she still fed me at a slow pace. I tried to get her to speed up take the bowl but my weak arms couldnt stop her. Slowly the bowl emptied and i wanted more. "Thats it sweetie any more and it will hurt you we will get you back up and on your feet soon." She said at last and left the room that i was in.


    Not long after Master entered back into the room. "For now Jewels you have sworn a oath to be my Servent and you are now i have fufilled our promise from our first meeting. You will be valuable to me Jewels and you will work hard towards being more valuable and useful to me. You are my personal maid your only orders come from me and no one else in the White family is that clear?" He had his lecture tone I have noticed going and I nod. "No Jewels when i give orders unless i have told you to keep Silent you will answer ''Yes Master''".


    "Yes Master" It was compelled out but saying it felt refreshing. Something was wrong with me and i knew it but these compulsions felt safe to me. I was scared of them and i knew it but they also felt safe. "M-M-Master I am sorry this one is asking but what is beyond the door?" I felt the need to ask i was curious and it nagged the back of my head.


    "My bedroom Jewels you are my thing you are to be my personal maid you will be with me at all times unless i say otherwise." He smiled that evil grin again. "Your valuable Jewels and you are mine so as you will now take care of my stuff you will take care of yourself at all times since you belong to me. Now Sleep and recover I have much to teach you and I have little time for your recovery." With that he left the room and me alone.


    Questions swirled in my head like the darkness that enveloped me or my powers, the school, everything around me I wanted to ask about. My mind slowly dimmed though as i thought and i fell asleep to ponder on things tommorow.
