《The Fate of Gaeis》 Prologue Prologue The town of Kilead is a small village within the continent of Drakein, which as all continents do, go by the name of the largest empire. The continent is part of the larger world of Gaeis which has five notable continents. The first being the previously mentioned Drakein who¡¯s people are descended from dragons. Drakein lies to the north of Gaeis and is covered in either permafrost or warm lands around volcanoes. Most villages lie within the shadow of these volcanoes as the heat from the volcanoes rises to the floor and melts away the frost. Some villages do exist within the frozen lands, however, they do not typically have the same sense of the people in the villages and are commonly referred to as savages. These savages refer to themselves as the Wikingr and believe that they have the most natural way of living. The capital of Drakein, Draconis, is built over a volcano. The heat makes it a very pleasant place to live and provides an excellent source of mana for sorcerers, wizards, and other varieties of magic users. It was built there for the ruler, a grand golden dragon with scales so radiant as to be compared to the sun. The ruler, Nithug, is as previously mentioned a gold dragon and thus prefers environments relating to his element, fire. Nithug has ruled over Drakein for a millennium and as such has developed a sense of love for all citizens in the country. Nithug is also rather young for a dragon being only around 1500 years of age. Draconis is primarily well known for having the best magic school in the entirety of Gaeis and has become extremely well known around the world as a heaven for magic users. The school goes by the name of Kunnana Academy and only accepts the most eccentric monsters. Legends even say that some teachers are dragons in human form.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. The second continent is known as Jotushim and is home to people descended from the Jotus. The Jotus are colossal humanoids who have been known to reach heights of over 50m tall. Their continent is located on the southern pole of Gaeis but the people here don¡¯t have the luxury of the continent being covered in volcanoes and as such need to live in the extreme cold. The people have fortunately evolved to be able to withstand the cold well. Their capital is named Utgaria and is well known for having the best fighting school, Kempe Academy. The final three continents form a sort of set of bands around Gaeis. The southern band is named Grixin, home to people descended from the Grifrix. The capital of Grixin is Griikis and is known for being home to extraordinary artists of many kinds. They have many famous schools and museums of art and are a peaceful empire with no wish for war. The central band is named Phiniya and is home to people descended from Phonirs. They are said to be extremely stubborn and easy to temper yet amazing workers. They are known for blacksmithing which many say suits their personality extremely well. They have the best non magical technology which Phiniya say can even rival Drakein magic technology. Their capital, Razir, is powered by strange technology which few know the workings of. The final band is to the north of Phiniya and is named Damae. Damae is a continent full of many warring territories of Damiz. Damiz are war lovers by nature and if they stopped fighting for a moment they might be able to actually form a considerable empire. The entire world thinks of them as brutes and they are looked down upon wherever they may go. 1 I had just finished school for the day and was about to head home when I suddenly heard the frantic voice of my friend, J?rg, screaming behind me. ¡°Fanur, slow down. You miss the best parts in life by rushing.¡± I simply nodded and continued walking. It was the first day of the week and school adds an extra hour of magic practice on the end to try and prepare us for our adult lives. I personally didn¡¯t see the point as I only wanted to get accepted into Kunnana Academy but I just come from Kilead, a village no one has heard of and I have no talent to speak of. ¡°It is your birthday tomorrow and your Dad did say he had a family surprise for you.¡± I heard J?rg trying to improve the situation despite knowing that nothing would save how useless I was. ¡°Do you truly wish to speak of this again? You should know more than anyone that despite me putting in more effort than everyone else combined I still barely manage to keep above the lowest ranking in our class.¡± I replied with this and the look on his face seemed to indicate that he just thought he could cheer me up. That sad appearance led to me inviting him to my home to eat dinner with my family for the night. After around 5 minutes of walking we arrived at my rather large abode. It was not large due to any sort of money that my family had and was instead large due to us just having a lucky family. My Father was really good friends with the previous village lord for some reason and when he died it was written in the will that the house should go to my Dad. The house was most definitely not what you¡¯d expect from a simple farmer and had 5 bedrooms, a grand dining room with a beautiful ornate table, a kitchen which had a door leading to a pantry which could hold all our food with ease, and the living room which contained within it just a couple of seats and a table which we would sometimes sit and talk around. There is also another room which I struggle to remember. It contained many family heirlooms which seemed valuable despite our low amount of wealth or status. As we stepped through the grand front entrance I heard the loud complaints of my father. He dislikes J?rg rather strongly due to J?rg being an orphan. I personally don¡¯t see the problem, however, my incredibly stubborn father refuses to change his mind and still views all orphans as thieves. What also didn¡¯t help was that the orphanage was run rather strictly and J?rg was quite well known to be a troublemaker within the orphanage. I quickly showed J?rg the way to the dining table and let him get comfortable. After I sat down I shouted at my bigoted father. ¡°He is staying here till just before the orphanages curfew. Understand?¡± He just looked at me in defeat. I looked over at J?rg and noticed his dark eyes darting around from behind his rather light brown hair. I then noticed that he was about to stand up. I quietly asked him if he was alright and he responded affirmatively. This small exchange left me more confused than I was previously. I quickly jumped off the seat and went round to where he was sitting. It was then that I noticed the sound of small yet regularly repeating earthquakes. Startled by this sudden revelation I made my way to the entrance of the house to leave. At the entrance I found a most bizarre object. This object was a perfect sphere with a perfect white colour yet the strange perfection did not unsettle me, rather I found the sight of the object incredibly comforting and pleasant. I picked it up and rubbed the side. I found that despite appearing incredibly smooth the surface was covered in barbs so tiny that they could not be seen and only be felt. I examined the size and discovered it was only about twice the size of my knuckle bone. I quickly shoved it into my pocket and ran out the door. A horrendous beast was what greeted me when I left the house. It appeared to have no singular form and was instead a collection of many different forms. Within the forms I found the shapes of many people I knew within the town. I saw my teachers, the merchants, and then my eye happened upon two people. These were people I was very close with and two people I knew J?rg would most definitely miss. They were the kind twins that helped the orphanage. This pair would lie to protect J?rg from the terrible people within the orphanage. They would make him delicious meals and they would comfort him when he was bullied by the older children. I tried to think of a way to respond to this situation but my body just began to run. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. When I was able to think clearly again I found myself on the mountain just next to Kilead. Around me I found the familiar faces of my father and J?rg. Their faces were expressing pure fear unlike anything I had seen before. I then looked down and saw that my red clothes were torn. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, it¡¯s just some light tears.¡± is what I tried to say before realising that my clothes weren¡¯t normally red. As if by some strange magic I suddenly noticed the colossal amount of pain rising from my head. The pain could only be described as being what I imagine a sword made of every elemental magic being stabbed continuously into my head feeling like. The pain was too much and I fainted. I heard a strange voice. It demanded mastery over every form of magic and it demanded that I know it¡¯s form. I tried to behold the strange voice¡¯s form but before I could I was pulled away into a different world. I woke up at home with my father and J?rg peering at me. I found not a single trace of my mother. ¡°Fanur¡¯s Awake!¡± is what immediately greeted me after my awakening. After the rather rude shout I heard quick, yet strong footsteps rushing towards my room. In the doorway I saw the tall form of my mother. Her vibrant blue eyes quite clearly showed signs of her crying. I simply smiled at her as she rushed towards me to pull me into a hug. Despite the inappropriate timing my mind immediately went to the white sphere. At this time I longed for the wonderful feeling of the sphere more than my mothers love. I quickly yet clearly asked ¡°Have any of you seen a white sphere?¡± None responded but my father¡¯s face showed signs of worry. I continued on by asking what the current situation was. My father¡¯s face turned grim and he told me of the thing that attacked the village. He mentioned that it didn¡¯t seem to act as a being but instead acted as though it just had a strict list of orders it needed to adhere to. He then continued on by saying that we¡¯d be moving to the capital in a couple of days and that I¡¯d need to attend a school in the capital. I looked at J?rg and remembered that it was my birthday. I simply looked at them and said ¡°It¡¯s my birthday!¡± in a somewhat excited voice. Their expressions changed to a mixture of pity and sadness. My mother explained that my birthday was a week ago and that I had slept a deep sleep all this time. I was simply shocked. I didn¡¯t understand how I could have stayed like that for so long. My father tried to remedy the situation by saying he¡¯d give me my gift now. He went on to explain that his family was descended from dragons. Each generation would undergo a ritual to awaken their draconic powers. The colour of the dragons would change each generation but each generation their power¡¯s weakened. He then said that I¡¯d be lucky if I got a breath weapon never mind scale armour. We walked into the easily forgotten room of family history. I looked around and saw various pedestals with large objects on them that seemed to have more history than any other object I¡¯d ever seen. We continued walking until we reached a large hole in the floor. It appeared to be something similar to what I¡¯ve heard of certain cults doing. It involves having your head shoved underneath the water until you nearly lose consciousness. I looked at my father and he explained that I¡¯d need to sit in the hole while he fills it up with a special liquid. This liquid would then be absorbed into me and I¡¯d awaken as a member of the Karrilion bloodline. I looked at J?rg and he seemed to understand that he couldn¡¯t get me out of this situation. I reluctantly removed my clothing and sat in the bottom of the hole. I signalled towards my father that I was alright and ready to go. He left my sight and I heard the powerful noise of a seemingly magical piece of machinery. 2 As the roaring of the machinery continued I started to feel a strange liquid falling from above. This clear liquid felt thick yet smooth. The sensation was not at all unpleasant compared to what I thought it¡¯d be. I also knew that I would probably gain something from this so I was trying to be optimistic as I humanly could. After a great length of time the liquid had finally been filled to over my head. I couldn¡¯t breathe yet at the same time I felt as though I didn¡¯t need to breathe. The liquid was clearly affecting my mana veins inside of me and I could feel them expanding allowing more magic to be easily controlled, however, this would only help if I were using the primitive form of magic, sorcery. Sorcery is a way of magic requiring only your body. It requires huge talent to achieve compared to other forms of magic. A weak sorcerer could easily kill themselves thus I chose to become a wizard. Wizards study magic to try and understand how it works. Wizards require a focus and typically use mana crystals for their magic. They also use structured spells with deep thought behind them. I continued focusing on the feeling inside my body. I noticed that my muscles were clearly increasing in size and that my skin was becoming tougher. I looked down and noticed my previously black hair steadily becoming an intense white colour. I thought this strange but seeking advice now would be problematic. Eventually the liquid started changing my body dramatically. I began thinking that maybe my blood was extremely strong but before I could come to a conclusion I fainted. When I awoke I noticed that my surroundings were white. I heard that same voice from before but it was too muffled to hear strongly. I looked around to see if I could complete my task of beholding it¡¯s form but all I found was that perfectly beautiful white orb. I rushed over to it and picked it up. I could now hear the voice clearer. The voice said that I should make it mine. In response I asked by what means could I make it mine but the voice only replied with one word. Blood. I awoke once again but this time in a familiar place. My father was looking at me with an expression of confusion, J?rg appeared joyful and my mother was nowhere in sight. I looked around and noticed that we were still within the family room. I asked my father what what was astounding him so much and he replied with this, ¡°Your awakening left you with white hair and removed your ability to do magic. I do not know how such a thing is possible but your body simply won¡¯t connect to any mana stones.¡± I too was confused by this. Nothing should be able to obstruct the connection between a wizard and his stone yet this transformation did. I then realised why J?rg appeared so joyful. He could finally be better than me at magic despite having no real interest in it. I was about to shout that I would do sorcery and become the best but my father instantly saw through my intentions and slapped me. This slap caused me to suddenly remember the orb again. I checked my pocket and there it was. I asked my father what it means to make something yours with blood. He described it as a form of ritual where a drop of blood is placed upon a magical item to determine possession of the item. With that in mind I asked what type of magical item an orb might be but he only said that there were too many magical items and that it¡¯s completely up to chance what an orb might be. I then asked J?rg if he was willing to come with me somewhere. Due to him agreeing I quickly left the house without bothering to meet my mother. I took him around to a spot hidden by the rubble of Kilead. As we stopped I noticed him shaking. I realised that he likely hadn¡¯t taken in the full situation yet and he most likely needed time to think things through. I sat down on a piece of wood and started to think about the situation too. As I thought through it I started to realise how much I didn¡¯t care. I wasn¡¯t incapable of feeling anything towards people, however, all the people I once knew from the town just seemed like characters from a long, forgotten story. I found these thoughts rather unpleasant and banished them to some corner within my mind. Suddenly I heard the voice of J?rg. His voice no longer contained sadness as he said aloud, ¡°The people here would not want us to mourn. We should instead rejoice that although their deaths were the cause we can go to the capital.¡± I smiled at J?rg, impressed with his statement which held a somewhat nice meaning for a simple 12 year old. With him calmed down I started what I came here to do.Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. A shard of glass from a destroyed house and my orb. These two simple objects could have any amount of effects on me. I pressed the glass into my hand to create a cut and I let the blood flow into the orb. The orb seemed to shrink proportional to the amount of blood it absorbed. It took a whole minute before the orb had gone. I looked up to see J?rg looking on in both disgust and amazement. I think I heard J?rg say ¡°Feel any different?¡± but the pain was too much to think. My slightly opened mana channels became stretched beyond human limits and their walls were strengthened. My brains processor steadily increased in power until it was comparable to the greatest geniuses of sorcery in history. I also noticed a strange feeling assaulting all my senses. Everything within my vision had a strange glow, a constant smell surrounded every object, I could hear a pulsing, objects started to feel warmer or colder than they should, and I could feel a strange almost liquid sensation inside my body. I could only describe it as feeling all my blood moving within me. The next minute the sensations were gone. J?rg stared at me in amazement when I stopped being assaulted by my senses. He said that what I had consumed was most likely concentrated beast souls in the form of an orb. A white orb should have the highest purity and as such I should expect to be within the realm of a genius. I sensed that but I felt different somehow and I couldn¡¯t tell why. We returned to the house after my strange absorption and I spoke to my father in greater detail about my abilities. He started off by asking me to try and imagine my arm in a draconic form. I did so successfully and a strange event happened. My arm actually changed into the form I saw within my mind. It¡¯s scales were the same perfect white of the orb and felt smooth to the touch. My father was mildly impressed and asked me to picture my breath becoming frost. Once again I was able to picture this event and as expected my breath became frost. My fathers expression changed to that of a prideful father as he realised something. His expression once again changed to match his serious tone of voice as he said to me, ¡°Work hard. Do not brag about your powers and no trouble should come to you.¡± I nodded and he seemed quite pleased with my response. Days flew by and the time for us to make way to the capital came. We packed what little we had and J?rg got given some of my clothing to take with him. Due to the carnage a spare carriage and a horse were easily available and as such we could easily make our way there in around two days. As we were about to leave I saw a vyrum. These strange animals were similar to the normal snake but had been affected by magic in the air and as such had changed in various ways. This one appeared to be young and didn¡¯t really seem to know what it was doing. I walked towards it and it spontaneously darted toward me. I got ready to respond but it was too fast. I felt it climbing up my body and wrapping around my neck before it started to sleep. It was wrapped there pretty tightly so I just left it. My father was quite evidently shocked when I turned around and I guess it was for good reason considering an animal with strength rivalling a soldier wrapped around my neck. Soon after I made this new friend my mother and J?rg looked away from the carriage. Both instantly froze in panic when they saw the vyrum but they relaxed when I shouted towards them that I¡¯d found a new friend. My mother was relieved but still confused and wandered over to inspect it. After a while she appeared content with something and told me that if I keep it close to me I could make it my familiar. A magic animal familiar is something that the majority of the world would never see never mind have. I looked down at the vyrum and knew that it would make an excellent familiar. After that small burst of panic we boarded our carriage with my father leading it. The journey was to be for around 2 days. My father would stay awake this entire time while magically empowering the horse to ensure that it can keep enough energy. We left after we made sure that everything important was with us. The seating was incredibly uncomfortable yet I didn¡¯t care too much due to seeing the strange lands around us. The entire ground was covered in a thick layer of snow and ice. My mother, father, and J?rg all appeared to be extremely cold yet I felt rather content with the current temperature. I asked them why they were cold and my father simply asked me to recall what my breath type was. I realised that because I breathed out frost I was also most likely resistant to cold and the frost. Pleased with the discovery I continued to stare at our surroundings. On our second day of travel we started to see Draconis in the horizon. It appeared to float above a huge volcano that was most likely several times the size of Kilead¡¯s volcano. The city itself didn¡¯t seem to have any obvious form of transportation except for this line which seemed to have something moving atop it. It would start at the bottom of the mountain and rise to the top before steadily coming down again. I looked to J?rg and he too was entranced by this strange moving object. I looked back towards the city and noticed a detached island which seemed to only be connected by the same thing which was continually moving from the bottom of the mountain to the city except on a smaller scale. I eventually lost interest and once again found myself looking around at the wilderness. As night was only just beginning we reached the bottom of the mountain. Down here appeared to be the same as a village yet was many times busier than Kilead was. My father interrupted my village viewing by rather loudly saying, ¡°This is Draconis transfer. From here we will ascend to Draconis. The two of you will stay with us in an Inn before immediately heading towards Kunnana Academy¡¯s junior section. In there you will find dorms in which you will stay until you finish going through the school. Understand?¡± I tried to nod but I couldn¡¯t seem to move my body through the excitement of going to my dream academy. 3 My family and I left the carriage where it was as we wouldn¡¯t need it any more. We then started making our way towards a large building which was designated as Draconis Transfer Station. The building had the large line I had seen previously coming out of it, however, due to the angle I couldn¡¯t see what was moving atop the line. We continued on and made our way through the entrance of the building. Inside the building were several counters which had labels on them such as ¡°Single Use¡±, ¡°One Week¡±, and ¡°One Month¡±. We made our way to the single use section and my father took out three silver coins and gave them to the person behind the counter. In return they handed him 4 pieces of paper. My father then gave us all a piece of paper each and told us to take care of it. I looked at the paper and on it was written ¡°Child: 50 copper¡±. There was also a strange pattern on the paper which seemed to slightly glow. I asked my father what it was and he simply looked at me weirdly. After receiving this weird paper we made our way to a strange carriage. It was long and clearly intended for over a thousand people to travel on it at once. At the front sat a large lesser dragon. These lesser dragons, while still strong, were considerably weaker than their true dragon cousins. The lesser dragon was attached to the long carriage with an extremely thick and sturdy rope. The carriage itself had large windows covering the sides and I could see inside rather luxurious cushioned seats. At the door of one section of the carriage we were required to show our piece of paper. After we showed it to the person inspecting it they touched a stone to the paper and the pattern stopped glowing. I once again questioned my father on the nature of these strange patterns but he looked at me with an expression of confusion. We agreed to ignore it and we continued into the carriage. We sat down in a simple seating section which was composed of four seats surrounding a small table. The seats were the best I had ever sat on. The cushioning felt incredibly pleasant and left no trace of the wood underneath the seat. I then looked around and noticed many different types of people. There were tall people with very little presence and tiny people with a tremendous pressure originating from them. The diversity was quite simply amazing and was already an excellent introduction to the capital. After some more ogling the carriage left and we started moving up towards Draconis. Due to it being night I thought I wouldn¡¯t be able to see much yet outside was surprisingly light. I could see below me the strange border of ice around the volcano. I could also see numerous large magical beasts resting on the sides of the volcano. These beasts were most likely incredibly wise and old. I also noticed a strange house on the side of the volcano. It appeared ordinary except for the fact that it was supported by a bizarre metal structure which allowed it to hang off the side of the mountain. After a rather short time the carriage arrived at the top. Up here was considerably less busy than the bottom was, however, the appearance was much more grand. There were large statues of various important figures surrounding the carriage exit. Among the statues was a statue of the founder of Kunnana Academy. His name was Somon and he not only founded the academy but also furthered magic by centuries in a single decade. He supposedly died after a large battle involving another continent. We left after my parents thought we had seen enough. Apart from the statues the building was almost the same and I found it uninteresting this time. As we exited the building I started to realise how grand the capital actually was. Many buildings appeared to have at least 10 floors and the streets were wide and open allowing people to flow through like a raging river. My parents seemed to know where they were going as they started moving down the street at a somewhat quick pace. We continued at this pace without conversation until we reached a somewhat rundown building. It didn¡¯t appear too terrible yet compared to the rest of the buildings it was not at all pleasant to view. My father started to explain that this was were we were staying and that we shouldn¡¯t complain. I heard J?rg complaining but I realised the futility. After giving some time to J?rg we entered the inn and booked 2 rooms. Our rooms were thankfully just down a corridor as I was starting to feel rather fatigued. When we got to our rooms my parents explained that the door would unlock when it detected our mana signatures. They told me to try it so I placed my hand upon the door and it started glowing in a strange spreading pattern of squares. When the squares reached the end of the door it finally opened and I could enter. In the room were two single beds. The beds were against opposing walls yet due to the rooms small size they were still quite close. I lay down on the bed to the right of the room. I wanted to start thinking about these strange glowing patterns I have been seeing on presumably magic items but I couldn¡¯t concentrate due to my exhaustion. I eventually gave up and fell asleep. When I woke up I found J?rg sitting on his bed peacefully. He was quite clearly waiting for me to awaken. I greeted him drowsily and sat up too. We both knew we would need to go to Kunnana Academy today but we had no clue how to go there. I then walked over to my luggage and opened it. Inside the vyrum was sleeping. Happy with seeing my friend for the day I left to go see my parents. When I arrived at their room I did not see any sign that the room had been lived in. When I knocked repeatedly I was given no response. After what must have been 5 minutes of waiting I noticed J?rg walking out of the room. He appeared confused as to why I hadn¡¯t come back with answers. He then realised that my parents weren¡¯t actually here. He suggested that we see the receptionist. The receptionist appeared pleased when he saw us. He immediately told us that our parents had never stayed and that they had left a note for us. He handed over an envelope which I assumed contained the note. I thanked him and returned to my room so that I could read the letter in private. In the envelope was a folded piece of paper and some well packed coins. The paper had written on it, ¡°Dear Fanur and J?rg, go to Kunnana Academy as soon as possible. They will ask for money for your enrolment which is why we have packaged money within this envelope. If you are curious as to where Kunnana Academy is then you should know that it is located on the large detached island. We hope you get on well in your new school.¡± J?rg and I were rather shocked by this message. Nowhere on it was their location or their plans. Their reasons too were not on it. We now knew that our only choice was going to Kunnana Academy. I never expected to go there, yet to go there with reasons such as this is not what I was hoping for. When I looked at J?rg I could see that he was quite clearly having thoughts of a similar nature. After a moment of gathering our thoughts together we both grabbed our things and left. We made haste towards the side of Draconis where we had seen the island. Along the way we saw a colossal auction house which seemed to tower above the rest of the buildings. It was most likely split into sections for each wealth category. Inside they probably sold low class items like basic weapons and they also probably sold magical artefacts that would go for millions of golden coins. After an incredible amount of running we reached a building marked as Kunnana Enrolment Station. This was most likely were we would pay to enrol into Kunnana¡¯s junior section. The building itself wasn¡¯t too impressive and was clearly overshadowed by even the normal buildings surrounding it. When we entered we also noticed that apart from staff the building was completely devoid of people. We decided to make our way to the desk closest to us.Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. As we approached the person behind the desk immediately asked if we wanted enrolment into the junior section of the school. We both nodded and he appeared greatly pleased. He explained that he would check our basic abilities and then if we met the requirements we would be allowed into the junior section of the school. I was quite excited about the tests but J?rg appeared rather anxious. We followed him to a small side room. In the room were various pieces of equipment which would be used to test our abilities. Along the equipment were the same patterns which I had been seeing everywhere. I then realised I was in the room with someone who was most likely more experienced than my father so I decided to ask him what the strange lines and patterns on objects were. He looked at me with an expression of extreme shock. He carefully explained that I have the ability to see mana which is something humans usually can¡¯t do without extreme effort. He then asked when I was able to start seeing these lines. I told the story of how I had underwent my families awakening ritual and that it left me with some strange effects. I also explained that I had absorbed a strange white orb after the ritual which caused me to experience a sensory overload. The examiner appeared more confused than when we started talking. He mentioned that the fact that my family has an awakening ritual is incredibly bizarre as the top ten families of Draconis are known collectively as the dragonbloods because of the fact that they are descended from dragons. J?rg interrupted at this point to ask if the orb was possibly concentrated beast souls but the examiner dismissed that theory because the effects were far too bizarre. He said that he¡¯d ask all the top people in the academy for information regarding my visualisation of mana. After that small amount of excitement we continued on to our testing. He explained that we would first do a magic power test. We would simply place our hands onto a stone plate and our magic power and magic purity would show itself on the stone. Our second test would be a magic proficiency test. This test consisted of us placing our hands on a clear orb and different colours of sparks would appear inside the orb determining what types of magic that we could use. Our third and fourth tests were basic physical fitness but it wasn¡¯t necessary to be fit as physical strength can be beaten by magic the majority of the time. Our fifth test was a magic control test. It was after the physical activity so that he could know whether we could control magic in a tiring situation. He then said that he wouldn¡¯t tell us what the sixth test was just now to save us from confusion. After this explanation we walked over to the stone plate which would measure magic power. The examiner explained that the average person would have a power of 10. A normal magic user would have a magic power of 1000 and a talented magic user might have a power of 5000. Magic power would increase if we consumed special items but other than that it was a set value. He then continued by saying that a standard purity for a beginner is only 1% and that someone who is talented might get 2%. Purity is what really separated the strong and weak. With low purity spells would take many times more magic than what someone with a high purity would use. Their spells would also be a lot weaker. J?rg went first and got 2000 magic power and a 2% purity. The examiner was very pleased at his results and said that as long as he trains he will be able to get a spot in the school¡¯s older section. After his remarkable score I went. I was amazed as soon as I saw my results. I had 15000 magic power. I looked at the examiner and he too was amazed yet he seemed confused at the same time. I looked back towards the plate and I noticed that I had a 0.5% purity rating. Despite my high magic power I would still only have around the same amount of spell uses as a talented person. The examiner took a small book out of his pocket and made a small note. We continued on with the testing despite us all being confused. We walked over to a rather large orb which was hidden in a corner. The examiner then explained what we would see when we placed our hands upon the orb. A number of different coloured sparks would appear with varying brightness. These would have different colours depending upon what element they correspond to. The colours were pretty easy to know. Light was white, space was black, earth was green, fire was red, wind was yellow, water was blue, and a blue/purple colour was the energy element. The space and energy elements were the rarest and were also arguably the strongest elements. These two elements were notoriously hard to control too. Many of the users of these elements died due to improper preparations while spell casting. J?rg again went first. When he placed his hands on the orb a beautiful fiery red spark appeared and started moving around the inside of the orb. After a moment a slightly less powerful yellow spark appeared inside and started moving too. The examiner didn¡¯t show any signs of shock this time. He said that although two proficiencies were good they didn¡¯t mean much in this school of geniuses. After that disappointment I placed my hands upon the orb and the most beautiful sight appeared within. A magical flower composed of the seven different elemental colours appeared within the centre. It had six petals of white, green, purple, yellow, blue, and red. These petals surrounded a solid black core which seemed to prevent all of the petals from moving and becoming free. Unlike J?rg¡¯s mine did not move around and instead remained stationary within the centre. I looked towards the examiner and he just stood there unmoving for a whole 10 seconds. He slowly turned to face me and slowly explained that I am the second person in the school to have seven proficiencies. He also said in an extremely careful manner that the orb should not have allowed the sparks to be pulled into a shape like that. Once again he pulled out his book and made a note. Finished with his note writing the examiner led us to a special wall and a strange raised platform. He started by simply telling us to punch the wall. J?rg looked unsure so I went first. I punched the wall with my full force and to my surprise it didn¡¯t hurt when my fist landed against the wall. I looked to the wall and on it was simply written ¡°Below Average Strength¡±. J?rg then went and he surprisingly got above average strength. The teacher wasn¡¯t too surprised by our results but I wasn¡¯t happy with mine. I asked if I could draconify. The examiner appeared surprised but he still allowed it. I concentrated and turned my arm into a dragon¡¯s. With my arm now draconified I could most likely use more strength. When I punched it this time I could feel the difference and it indeed did make a difference as I noticed that it said that I was above average with my draconified arm. Once again the examiner took a note. While we waited for the examiner to write his note I let J?rg see my arm. He had never seen it before and wanted to view it in greater detail. He carefully viewed the large uneven scales and he touched my large claws with his fingers so he could feel their sharpness. When we stopped we saw the examiner standing there somewhat awkwardly while smiling at us. The examiner explained that the raised platform was a running machine. We were to run on it and it would slowly increase in speed until we couldn¡¯t run any longer. He also said that I should draconify the first time that I do it. J?rg volunteered to do it first. He stepped onto the platform and the surface of it started moving beneath his feet. It started off so that he would need to walk slowly to keep up with it but gradually it sped up until he was sprinting with full effort. It eventually reached a point where he fell because he couldn¡¯t keep up with the speed any more. The teacher was quite pleased with the performance that he had just viewed. After J?rg was me. I started off by trying to draconify my lower body and to my surprise it worked. The teacher was shocked from what I could see and J?rg was looking behind me in amazement. When I turned around I saw that I had grown an extremely long, thick tail. Along the back of the tail ran a line of thicker sharper scales which appeared like spikes running down it. At the end of the tail four large, sharp, glowing scales grew out and extended beyond the tail itself which meant that the tail could probably be used as some form of stabbing weapon. I then looked at my legs. On my knee there were particularly tough looking scales which overpowered the presence of all of the other scales and my toes were now large claws which rivalled the most vicious predators. Convinced that I was now able to perform to the best of my ability I began running on the platform. It started off incredibly easy and it continued being easy up until the point where J?rg failed. I continued on though and I managed to stay on until the speed was about 50% more than J?rg¡¯s. The examiner was pleased with my performance and quickly took a note as always. As I was about to revert to my ordinary form I realised that my trousers were now ripped and that I would most likely expose myself if I were to transform back so I simply remained in this form for now. The examiner realising my situation advised me to research basic materialisation magic. We then continued on to our fifth test. This test was rather informal from the way the examiner explained it. We just needed to form magic power in the shape that he requests. It is mostly to see if we are suitable for sorcery but it also makes wizardry easier too. We both went together for this one so we both saw it as a chance to prove who¡¯s better at magic. We were first asked to make a cube. We both succeeded with no problems. Next was a sphere, then a ring, then we started getting into bizarre shapes such as weapons, armour, and musical instruments. Even throughout all of these shapes we both made them to perfection. The examiner was immensely happy that we had done so well at this. He explained that he was a sorcerer and because of the danger of the profession it was slowly dying out. We felt rather shocked at that statement. We both knew it was unpopular but we thought it was primarily sorcerers who wanted to join this academy. Now that I knew I could become a sorcerer I would gladly take the opportunity. After the examiner calmed down he led us to another room. In the room was a bath filled with a liquid similar to the one I had been submerged in during my awakening. Seemingly feeling my confusion the examiner explained that this was different. He stood in front of us and said in a well practised manner, ¡°This pool not only awakens those of pure blooded lines such as yourself. This pool awakens those with only partial blood. These people are frequently unaware that they have such power with their veins. This is why Kunnana Academy is frequently called a school of monsters.¡± J?rg was elated. He probably never thought about being able to awaken his own bloodline. When I looked at him I could see his mind racing through what bloodline might be his. The examiner grew tired of this and grabbed J?rg to throw him in the pool. 4 Within the pool I could see J?rg growing. He was steadily getting larger and larger. His height easily exceeded what was the norm for his age yet now he was over the height of the average adult. After around 5 minutes he was probably the same height as the depth of the huge pool. This meant he was probably 4 times the size of a regular adult now. He then started shrinking incredibly quickly until he had returned to his ordinary form in almost an instant. When the shrinking process stopped J?rg quickly awakened. I was going to congratulate him but the examiner quickly stepped in front of me and shouted, ¡°Congratulations! You have jotus blood!¡± I was greatly confused by this as everyone in this continent usually has more draconic blood which always overpowers jotus blood. J?rg didn¡¯t appear to care about that as his face just showed pure delight on it. The examiner gestured towards us to follow him towards yet another room. The interior of this room appeared to be made of a special stone. I thought it to potentially be a toughened room for training and my suspicions were confirmed when I heard the examiner say, ¡°In here I will examine your bloodline abilities. You will then both fight each other.¡± He continued on and explained that he would tell us to do something relating to our bloodline and then we would do it. It was both educational and a test in one. The teacher said J?rg should go first. J?rg went directly to the centre of the room while the examiner and I went to the side of the room. The examiner started by telling J?rg to imagine his body many times the size that it currently is. I could see J?rg thinking before he suddenly increased in size dramatically. I also noticed his muscles were many times the size they would be if he had just increased in size normally. When I looked towards J?rg''s face I could see that he had an expression of pure joy because of the power he now had. The examiner then told him to imagine his body being as it was originally but before he could finish his sentence J?rg was back to being normal. The examiner then told me that he would examine my bloodline¡¯s abilities now so I walked to the centre of the room while J?rg walked off feeling pleased with himself. The examiner said he¡¯d need to check my breath, my draconic transformations, my presence, and then my scale armour. I started by breathing out a destructive beam of frost. The teacher appeared dissatisfied. He explained that because I have proficiencies in every element I should be able to use every breath type. I tried using a breath of earth which felt and looked like a huge collection of stones being thrown out of my mouth. The examiner¡¯s expression changed to one of satisfaction this time. After the breath test the examiner told me to try and picture wings forming from my back. I concentrated and conjured an image of the wings from a dragon growing from my back. I suddenly felt pain, intense and deep pain. The pain was originating from my back at the point where I was wanting my wings to originate from. I questioned the examiner to determine if the pain was normal and he simply said that no transformation should cause pain. The next minute I felt my wings leaving my skin and opening up to the air. Both the examiner and J?rg looked at me in amazement. I turned around and saw my colossal wings which were at least twice my arm span. I tried to move them and it felt just like controlling any other limb. The wings looked like a normal dragon¡¯s wing but the end had three talons on it which glowed in the same manner as my tail. The scales along the outer part of the wing looked particularly tough. I then noticed the strange glowing orbs on the outer part of the wings. There were three of them on each wing and they had the exact same appearance as the orb I had consumed. When I looked at J?rg he appeared to have realised the same thing. When I looked at the examiner he was still in the same position as he was before. He was quite evidently shocked at something. After another second he seemed to suddenly return to life as he walked over to me and asked which dragon bloodline I had. I was confused by this question so I asked him to clarify. He just told me told me to say my surname so I told him I was from the Karrilion family. He was more confused afterwards because he had never heard of the Karrilion family. He just took a small note and then continued to test me.Stolen novel; please report. To test my presence the examiner asked me to try and mentally dominate everyone around me. I let my mana assist me in feeling the presence of the two others in the room. I could feel their mana leaking out of their body. I then tried to forcefully push this mana in and hold it in place. I only succeeded for J?rg but I was incredibly close in absolutely dominating the two of them. When I looked at J?rg I could see that he was able to hide his fear well but sadly his legs shook an absurd amount for someone who wasn¡¯t supposed to have been scared. The examiner asked me to try and use normal magic now. I made a simple ball of fire and then noticed that their presence had returned to normal. He explained that until I get to an incredible level of power I will not be able to oppress others without thought. Content with what I had accomplished I asked him to explain scale armour. I had heard my father previously mention it but he said I might not be able to do it. The examiner responded to my question by saying, ¡°Scale armour is effectively the most powerful thing you can do. It covers your body in an armour of scales as you would expect from the name. These scales are different however. They are made of focused magical power and as such require an absurd amount of power to create and maintain. They do provide the benefit of not getting hit because while normal scales are tough many things can break through them. These scales also have more magical resistance than regular scales due to being made of magic.¡± Due to me wanting to focus on magical attacks I didn¡¯t think too much of the scale armour but I decided to attempt it anyway. I simply thought of a knight with plate armour made of draconic scales. The instant after that thought I felt the majority of my power drained and I could see the armour that I had summoned upon my body. It was of the same blank white as always yet because it was made of my magical power I could see small imperfections in the colour. I told J?rg to try and smash me in his giant form. He happily obliged by trying to smash me into the floor like a nail into a piece of wood. In this example his attack would be an ineffective hammer. I couldn¡¯t feel a thing despite knowing that I could die if I took that same attack normally. I removed my scale armour and started to feel my magical power rising again. I then immediately prepared to fight. J?rg realised what my intentions were and didn¡¯t shrink. I used a quick attack of fire breath to obscure his vision but something unexpected happened. His skin suddenly grew huge spikes of ice. These spikes blocked the attack with no problem and quite evidently could take an almost infinite amount of them. I looked towards the teacher to express my dismay but before I could vocalise a complaint I was smacked over the head. I instantly spread my wings and used them to stabilise myself. J?rg was obviously overjoyed at potentially having more power than me but I wouldn¡¯t let jotus blood overpower my dragon¡¯s blood. With a quick beat of my wings I rose to J?rg''s face while concentrating a large amount of magical power in my hands. As I neared his face I let loose the magic I had been storing in the form of a huge blast of wind. After the attack I hit the non sharp end of my tail off of him to bounce me backwards away from his attacks. Just as I started accelerating backwards I felt my organs travel half way around my body. J?rg had grabbed me and was trying to squeeze me. Instead of panicking I instantly remembered one of the things I learned today. I focused all of my thoughts on oppressing J?rg. His hand steadily grew weaker and weaker until I was able to easily pull it off of me. The moment I escaped I lost my domination over J?rg. I quickly jumped back while launching an earthen breath attack towards his face. The attack proved only effective as a distraction. The second I landed I started trying to produce what was effectively a fire tornado. I pictured wind in the form of a great tornado and I pictured the fire as sprouting from an eternal bonfire which let the fire slowly spread up the tornado until the area around it was completely eliminated. The instant I had enough magic power concentrated within the attack to make it effective I cast it. In front of me was a grand tornado filled with a brilliant red colour indicative of its fiery nature. The instant it was created it started moving towards its target. I then saw J?rg''s own magic forming. He had created the exact same thing as I had. The two tornados moved towards each other slowly while leaving all of us in the room sweating because of the heat. The moment the two tornados were going to touch I saw the examiner appear within the centre of the room and instantly dispel our magic. Although the examiner was quite clearly trying not to display any obvious joy he was quite clearly overjoyed at how well we done in our fight. J?rg and I moved to stand in front of him before he quite clearly said aloud, ¡°Well done you might have a decent chance in this school.¡±
