 V1 Prologue: The Blind Paladin

    Year 1294 humanoid monsters known as demons suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They are beings which were created by the evil of humanity. No one knew where or why the demons were born, but they knew one fact. That the demons possessed powers which far surpasses the powers of humans.


    One by one, the mighty human countries were invaded and conquered by the demon horde, those who survived the invasion were enslaved and were forced to serve the demons. As the demons occuppied more land, the humans graduately lost their means of resisting.


    After realizing the huge gap in military might, the surviving human countries formed an alliance which is known as the holy knights alliance. But despite the number of soldiers the alliance possessed, their armies still lost against the demon horde. The gap in strength was just too huge. After a decisive battle at Panagata field the holyKnights alliance was finally crushed by the overwhelming might of the demons. After the fall of the alliance humanity fell under the rule of the demons. Their rule lasted for two years until one day a human who found a way to defeat the demons was born. That same human called himself a paladin, users of the holy arts which were made to slay the demon race.


    The humans begun a rebellion, with a small number of fifty thousand soldiers. The rebel forces managed to expel the demons from Panagata field which marks the day of liberation. With each battle more and more people joined the rebellion, with their growing might the humans managed to reclaim the fortress of fanghorn, the castle of magnadul and the town of Aldragon. After losing the battle at Daraka fortress the demons was forced to sign a peace treaty with the unified human army which called themselves the holy knights order.


    But the demons never forgot their losses, they bore even more hatred for the humans. But they feared the arts which the humans used against them, they knew that the power of the humans can''t be underestimated. But what they didn''t know is that a girl who possessed powers that rivals the king of dragons is born on the small country of Lasfortia.


    When the demons found out about the girl, they sent an army which numbered a thousand soldiers to invade the country of Lasfortia to kill the girl.


    On a small village named Sabarin, the young girl was found by a member of the holy knights order and he took her in as her own daughter. The name of the Paladin is Kaynard, he is known as the Fearless Captain of the knight order. He taught the young girl named Yona the secret arts of Faith and trained her to become his successor.


    Yona las long silvery hair which sparkles like starlight, her eyes had an odd pairing with the left being gold and the right which had the color of amber. Yona''s slender body resembles that of a child despite being fifteen years old, her face was also childlike.

    Asked Yona as she swings the wooden sword that she uses for practice. Kaynard reveals a strict look on his face and he told her in a serious tone.


    "You need to keep training everyday Yona, it''s to make sure that our bodies are always in the best condition when we fight, if we don''t follow this rule. Then our chances on getting killed on the battlefield will only rise."(Kaynard)


    Yona lightly gripped the hily of the wooden sword and she told Kaynard while having a bright smile on her face.


    "I understand, I''ll do my best master."(Yona)


    After hearing Yona''s reply Kaynard reveals a warm smile for a single second and he told Yona.


    "Since you''ve been a good girl I''ll treat you to anything you want, so tidy up so we can go to the shopping district."(Kaynard)


    Upon hearing Kaynard''s words Yona begun to swing her sword with great vigor as she said.


    "You''ll buy me anything right master? Yay!"(Yona)


    Kaynard scratched his head while his face had signs of bashfulness. The two departed for the shopping district and Kaynard asked Yona.


    "How old are you right now Yona-chan?"(Kaynard)


    Yona turned to the direction of Kaynard''s voice and she quickly gave her reply.


    "I''m currently fourteen years old, why did you ask master?"(Yona)


    Kaynard grabbed Yona''s hand and he told her as he lightly pats her head with his right hand.


    "I want you to become a member of the knights order Yona-chan, but if you don''t want to become one then it''s fine, I wont be mad if you choose to become something other than a knight. So remember that I''ll always be on your side Yona-chan."(Kaynard)


    Yona shook her head and she told him as she placed her hand on Kaynard''s head.


    "I want to become a knight, to repay your kindness master."(Yona)


    After hearing Yona''s statement, Kaynard kneels down and hugs Yona tightly, Yona then waved her hands as if to signal someone and a few moments later a man around the age twenty years old approached the two, with a wry look on his face the man handed Yona a sword. Yona quickly broke free of Kaynard''s embrace and she handed Kaynard the sword.


    "I know it''s not much, but I''ve saved up enough money to buy you a sword, after I lost my parents you''ve always looked after me, that''s why I wanted to buy you a present Kaynard-sensei. Happy birthday Kaynard-sensei."(Yona)


    With a surprised look on his face, Kaynard accepts the sword and proceeds on giving Yona a big hug. Then he asked her.


    "How did you buy this sword Yona-chan, it''s a sword made by the great blacksmith named Dale right? Where did you get the money to buy such a sword?"(Kaynard)


    Yona revealed a smile on her face and she said.


    "Secret, I''m not telling you Kaynard-sensei."(Yona)


    Kaynard smiled and pats Yona in the head, and together the two went to the market to buy Yona''s favorite meal, but the peaceful days that they spent on the town will soon end, the demons are on their way and they will not stop until Yona is killed.

 v1 Chapter 01: The forgotten arts

    In the market Kaynard and Yona started to shop for ingredients for dinner, but Kaynard removed his sword from it''s scarbard and a few moments later demons started to storm the city.


    Did something happen? This presense, demons!?! why are they attacking this city?


    Even though Yona can''t see the demons, she can still feel their presense, Yona quickly took a knife from her pocket and she grabbed Kaynard''s hand. Kaynard on the other hand removed the sword from it''s scabbard and he told her.


    "You can sense their movements that''s to your mastery of wind magic, but I can''t let you die here Yona-chan, please run away."


    All the villagers who saw the demons quickly scattered while trying to avoid the demons, Kaynard quickly realized that the demons are after the girl who possess the power that''s on par with dragons themselves. Yona revealed a smile on her face and she said.


    "If we don''t do something, this city will be destroyed, let''s help the city guard on defending the city."(Yona)


    Kaynard scratched his head, he then let''s out a sigh and he said.


    "Fine, but if things became dangerous you must leave the town, get ready Yona-chan!"(Kaynard)


    The demons quickly noticed the Kaynard and Yona, after sensing the magical energy of the two, the commander of the demons ordered the demons to attack the two. A few moments later a group of soldiers quickly arrived at the marketplace. One of the soldiers said.


    "Why are there so many demons"(Soldier)


    The city guard arrived to stall the demons long enough until the town is evacuated. But many of the soldiers fled from the town after seeing the number of demons on the market. Those who remained focused on evacuating the citizens from the town.


    Clang!... Clang!... Clang!... Clang!...


    Kaynard clashed swords with the twelve demons all at once, but most of the demons focused their attention towards Yona. kaynard used magic to enhance his sword with magical energy and swings it towards the demons.

    In an instant the demons that surrounded him within ten meters have all instantly died! The demons were shocked after seing Kaynard''s technique and the started to be on guard for kaynard''s movements.


    Meanwhile Yona was fighting the demons, but the demons were too many and she can''t even gather energy because because the demons kept attacking her everytime she tries to gather energy.


    "Can you please help me Kaynard-sensei? Please buy me a little time to gather my powers"(Yona)


    Kaynard quickly leaped in-front of Yona and he said with a smile on his face.


    "Got it, just focus on gathering energy, you don''t have to worry about our enemies, I swear that I''ll protect you."(Kaynard)


    Yona started to gather her magical energy, her powers quickly begun to increase at a level that a human can''t possible attain. The demons felt her aura and they quickly realized that she''s their target. And thus all the demons quickly attack Yona, the commander of the demons quickly order his men..


    "It''s her, she is the one we were sent to kill everyone kill that child!"(Demon Commander)


    The demons surrounded Yona, but Kaynard intercepted them by casting a spell called Sacred Light. Sacred Light is a magic that prevents anything that possessed demonic energy that only demons possessed.     "What''s with this magic? why can''t we break through it''s defense?"(Demon Commander)


    Even though they''ve heard of the spell called Sacred Light, some demons still attempted on entering the barrier, but they quickly died in an instead upon touching the light. Kaynard took a deep breath and he told Yona with a confident look on his face.


    "This barrier wont last much long, Do you still remember the strongest technique of the dragon''s soul? Use it here to defeat the demon army."(Kaynard)


    "G-got it, I''ll try using it Kaynard-sensei."(Yona)


    She touched Kaynard''s chest with her right hand and then she begun chanting.


    "Light of the chosen few please grant me the power to protect. The power to vanquish evil from this world. And to maintain order within the world. Come fourth Holy Sanctuary!"(Yona)


    The bodies of the two was quickly surrounded by small particles of blue light, Yona felt like her body was slowly vanishing into thin air, at the same time she can feel that her powers are rising. Upon opening her eyes, Yona was surprised to know that she''s obtained the ability to see, but when she looked at her body she quickly realized that she''s now within the body of Kaynard. Then she heard Kaynard''s voice inside her head and he said.


    "Listen to me carefully Yona-chan, right now you''re inside my body and you have temporarily gained control over my body, but the effect only last for three hours. But your physical abilities are greatly increased by the same level as the one that you originally possess."


    Kaynard was talking to Yona through telepathy, so the demons can''t hear what he''s told Yona.


    The demons started to surround Yona, but when Yona cleave the demons with the sword that she gave Kaynard as a present for his birthday.

    Her strike was so powerful that demons were all sent flying and their bodies were all cut in half thanks to the power of her attack.


    "What''s going on? How can a human be this strong? So this is the reason why this girl should be killed, if she continues to live then she''ll become a great threat against the mightly demon army."(Demon Commander)


    The demons continued their attack against Yona, but it was all in vain, the demons we''re all very strong, in fact, they''re best amongst the soldiers of the demon king, but Yona''s power was on another level that the demon soldiers can''t achieve with just training alone.


    Amongst all the demons in the world, there exist an elite group of demons called nobles, and amongst those nobles there exist a greater existence known as the demon king. but these demons didn''t came from the noble households, they might be strong, but their strength is only superior against the ordinary demon soldiers.


    Clang!.... Clang!.... Clang!.... Clang!.....


    The sound of their swords clashing against each other was heard throughout the city, with every strike more and more demons fell victim to power of Yona''s blade, as time passed more and more demons continued to die by Yona''s hands.


    Her sword that was her present for Kaynard as a sign of appreciation for all the times that they spent together was now stained with the blood of the demons.


    Yona continues to kill all the demons which approached her range, the commander of the demons bit his lip and he shouted.


    "All troops retreat, return back to camp. This battle can''t be won, it''s best if we keep our casualties to a minimum."(Demon Commander)


    The demons slowly disengaged Yona, A few moments later kaynard''s body is surrounded by blue light and Yona''s spirit is returned to her body. Kaynard let''s out a sigh and he told Yona while having a tense look on his face.


    "It''s a good thing that the demons retreated, if the battle we continued fighting then the two of us might have gotten killed."(Kaynard)


    "So it''s effects only last for three hours?"(Yona)


    "Let''s go back to home for now so that we can finally rest after the fight against the demons"(Kaynard)


    After helping with treating the injured Kaynard and Yona went to outshirts of the town, where their home is located.

 v1 chapter 02: The fall of Lasfortia

    After the their battle with the demons, Yona and Kaynard were resting at their home, when the demon king decleared war against the country of Lasfortia. The invasion begun shortly after Kaynard and Yona managed to force the demons on retreating.


    The demon army killed anyone who resisted their invasion, the army of Lasfortia kingdom failed to repel the invasion of the demon and slowly the country started to lose it''s military might. The neioghboring country of silveria sent a small company of soldiers along with an elite group of adventurers to aid the country, but it still wasn''t enough to repel the demon army''s invasion.


    But the invasion of the demons was repelled by the might human empire called the Kobayashii Shougunate. The demons was forced to withdraw their invasion on Lasfortia. But the demons refuse to return the land which they took back to the country of Lasfortia, thus the country of Lasfortia didn''t manage to recover from their losses.


    The once mighty country of Lasfortia which was known for their military might, suffered a bitter defeat in the hands of the demons. During this war four million nine hundred thousand soldiers died in battle and one hundred thousand barely survived.


    As Yona was eating a piece of break, she heard the footsteps of many people outside the door, and a few moments later, someone begun knocking on the door. Kaynard opened the door and was surprised to see that fifty city guards are outside his doorstep, with a serious look on his face he asked the captain of the guards.


    "What do you want?"(Kaynard)


    The Captain of the city guard handed Kaynard a letter and he said.


    "The king wishes to see you Lord Kaynard, this a direct order from the king, you are to report to the royal palace immediately."(Captain)


    Kaynard reveals a troubled look on his face and he told the captian while revealing an annoyed look on his face.


    "Fine, but can you dispatch the city guard to guard my house while I''m gone?"(Kaynard)


    "As you wish Lord Kaynard."(Captain)


    Kaynard quickly closed the door, and he noticed that Yona was standing behind him, with a serious look on her face Yona said.


    "I''m coming with you."(Yona)


    Kaynard shook his head and he lightly pats her head.


    "It''s too dangerous, I''m guessing that the king wants me to participate in the war, I might not return from the battlefield, but I don''t want you to die so stay here."(Kaynard)


    Yona shook her head and she shouted.


    "I don''t want you do die, I''ll do everything I can to protect you and I know that you''ll do the same for me. So please let me come along with you."(Yona)

    And the two started their preparations to go to the capital city of Ragunia. After two days of travelling the two finally arrived at the royal palace, Kaynard reveals the letter with the signiture of the king to the palace guard and thus allowing them to enter the royal palace. At the throne room Kaynard is greeted by the king of Lasfortia Elmore Gracious Lasfortia.


    "What''s going on your majesty? Why did you summon me to the royal capital without stating the reason why I''m summoned."(Kaynard)


    The King stood up from his throne and he said.


    "We need you to train the newly recruited soldiers on becoming paladins, the demon army has invaded us and I doubt that we''ll be able to repel them if they invade us once more, so we need to prepare, I order you to train the soldiers of the country the arts of the dragon''s soul."(Elmore)


    After the shougunate intefered with the invasion on Lasfortia, the demon king''s army invaded the neighboring countries including the Republic of Silveria. Most of the people who resisted the invasion were all killed.


    They are now trying to rebuild their army by forcing every family inside the country to enlist one person from their family to become a soldier.


    But that didn''t solve their problems, some of the families left the country to go to the shougunate''s lands and apply for citizenship there. The king faced Kaynard with a serious look on his face, Kaynard reveals a serious look as he told the king.


    "This country is done for. There''s no way for me to stop the demons invasion on our own, the soldiers of the country can''t possibly match the demons in strength. So how are we going to win!"(Kaynard)


    "The shougunate offered us protection, in exchange for our loyalty, if we agree then the shougunate will absorb Lasfortia into their land, but I think it''s better if I just agree to their demands


    "The shougunate offered us to swear that we show absolute loyalty to them and we will be forced to become apart of their lands but it''s for the best if they can protect us from the demons then I''m willing to lose my title as King of lasfortia so that I can protect my people."(Elmore)


    "I admire your willingness to lose your power over this country to protect your people so I guess we can still help your fight against the demons."(Kaynard)


    And now Yona and Kaynard must start on training the soldiers of Lasfortia in order to make the country stronger so that the demons will not attack them again.

 v1 chapter 03: The dreams of the paladin

    As the demon king''s army waged war against humanity the elves of the country of origin were also strengthening their army so that they can protect their lands from the demons.


    In the small country of lasfortia Kaynard and Yona were assigned by King Elmore to train the soldiers of Lasfortia so that they can protect themselves from the demons that invaded their homeland.


    Yona was walking around the encampment when she heard the voice of a young man who was falling from a tower.


    "Please help me. Anyone, I don''t want to die without accomplishing anything. I wanted my parents to be proud of me so i joined the army to fight the demons but I don''t want to die like this."(Man)


    Luckily for the young man Yona heard him and she leaped into the air with an insane amount of speed.


    "Gotcha now stay calm and don''t panic I''ve got a lot of problems right now so I don''t want to be stressed out"(Yona)


    After leaping for about a total of seven meters the young man who was saved by Yona said.


    "Woah your amazing miss how did you manage to jump that high? Isn''t that impossible for a human being"(man)


    The young man stared at the beautiful girl who saved his life and said.


    "Thank you for saving my life my name is Yuuto yukimura please tell me what your name is."(Yuuto)


    While her radiant smile made yuuto realize that she is the one. But he knew that the difference between them is like earth and heaven.


    Then she finally replied and said.


    "My name is Yona Sanada Kojiro and it''s nice to meet you yuuto-kun"(Yona)


    Yuuto yukimura was a former member of the adventurer''s guild. But he realized that adventurer''s will never be treated as heroes. But rather as mercenaries for hire so he retired and joined the army.


    Yona was asking the soldiers for information on were Kaynard went. Because he left very early without telling yona were he was going.


    The power of the demon king''s army can''t be beaten by their army so Kaynard-sensei must have looked for more soldiers. But if the enemy attacks us now then how will we defend ourselves against them?


    But if Kaynard-sensei abandoned us then what will happen to all of these people? Can I protect them all by myself?


    Yona continued to worry about Kaynard then she heard the sound of soldiers marching towards the encampment and their numbers were over a hundred thousand.


    "Is that the demon king''s army? But why can''t I feel their energy. Could it possible that their humans"(Yona)


    The soldiers gathered around the encampment and they formed a defensive formation and one of them said.


    "What''s going on who are these men? Please explain lord Kaynard"(Soldier)


    His eyes are filled with determination and he said.


    "These soldiers are from the northern country of gramoria and they promised to help us fight the demons."(Kaynard)


    The soldiers gathered around to surround the soldiers guarding the encampment and Kaynard said.


    "Don''t be afraid they''re not going to betray us because their from my homeland. I''m a prince of the gramoria. And these men are from my personal army."(Kaynard)


    "Personal army? Something strange is going on."(Yona)


    "What did you mean by something strange? I brought these soldiers to help us on the upcoming battle. So prepare the troops Yona-chan we will now depart to face the demon king''s army."(Kaynard)


    "The demon king''s army? Are you mad Kaynard-sensei? If we fight them head-on then they will surely kill us all."(Yona)


    "Don''t you trust your master Yona-chan. When I said that we will win the fight then we can win. Please have faith in your master."(Kaynard)


    I''m not sure why but I can''t trust master''s decision right now. Something''s not right here. Why would he lead the army to a suicide charge against the army of the demon king?     I know that he is hiding something so I gave my orders to the soldiers of the camp.


    "Those who wish to stay here will stay. While those who will join Kaynard-sensei on the fight against the demon king''s army please prepare yourselves."(Yona)


    Soldiers slowly left Kaynard-sensei''s side and all returned to their original position. Then Kaynard-sensei said.


    "Fine let them stay here. But we wouldn''t get another chance to attack the demon king''s army off guard again. If we needed to strike then now''s the time."(Kaynard)


    "Um can I interrupt your conversation for a moment."(Yuuto)


    "Your that boy from earlier."(Yona)


    "What do you want boy?"(Kaynard)


    The young boy that i''ve saved from earlier has arrived. From what I remembered his name is Yuuto Yukimura. But will he really dare stand up against kaynard-sensei. The boy looked towards Kaynard-sensei''s eyes with full of resolve. He was not shakened by the overwhelming presense of Kaynard-sensei. He stood firm while his eyes were burning with determination. And he said.


    "Please listen to your apprentice Kaynard-sama. It''s reckless for you to attack them head-on without any plans prepared. Even if we outnumber the demons in terms of numbers. They are still several times stronger than humans so eventually your forces will get wiped out."(Yuuto)


    Kaynard-sensei seems to be angered on what yuuto-kun just said so he replied to the young boy and said.


    "Then if we don''t fight then how will we beat the demon king''s army? There''s no other way to beat them by attacking them by suprise. I don''t care if that''s a reckless assault but if it works then we can defeat the demon kings army."(Kaynard)


    "Then how many lives will you sacrifice for that victory?"(Yuuto)


    "Has anyone won a war without the sacrifice of others? There are none. A deaths can''t be prevented in a war. But we can minimize the amount of lives that we''ll lose. If we defeat their army now then they''ll back down on their invasion. Aren''t I right boy?"(Kaynard)


    "Then how will you win against them? There are two hundred thousand demons in their encampment. Not only are you outnumbered but you also lack the required military forces to fight their army head on."(Yuuto)


    The boy stared at the veteran warrior with full of confidence. Kaynard-sensei was suprised with his reactions and said.


    "What''s your name boy?"(Kaynard)


    "It''s Yuuto Yukimura sir!"(Yuuto)


    "Since your such a hotshot then your now the vice commander of the Lasfotia''s military. Please lead the army well young lad."(Kaynard)


    He smiled at Yuuto and left with his soldiers. Then I approached him and said,


    "Why did you say all those things to Kaynard-sensei?"(Yona)


    "It''s because I don''t want the lives of these soldiers to be lost for just defeating the demon king''s army. People should have the decision on choosing were they will day am I right Yona-san?(Yuuto)


    "I guess your right?"(Yona)


    "Do you have any plans for today? If you don''t mind then why don''t you come with me. I''ll treat you dinner Yona-san."(Yuuto)


    "Well I guess i''ll accept your offer since I have nothing else to do today. So were are we going?"(Yona)


    Yuuto-kun seems to be happy with my reply. But will Kaynard-sensei be alright? Yuuto-kun said there are two hundred demons in that encampment. It''s twice their numbers and we can''t deny the fact that demons are always stronger than an average human.I can''t help but get worried.


    "Just relaxe Yona-san everything''s going to be alright. Have faith in Kaynard-sama I''m sure that he will return here. So please don''t let what happened earlier bother you okay?"(Yuuto)


    "Okay I guess I''m just overthinking it for a bit. He''s still one of the strongest people in this kingdom. There''s no way that he''ll lose to the demons."(Yona)


    And the two of them left the encampment and went to the town. They went to a famous restaurant named Le cassoulet.


    "Bonjour Ma''am, Sir what would you like to order?"(Waiter)


    "I guess i''ll have Pain de campagne as an appetizer And my main course is Croque-monsieur And the dessert is I guess i''ll have floating island. What will you have Yona-san?"(Yuuto)


    Is the food here expensive? From what I heard this restaurant is the best in this country. Maybe I should have refused his offer.


    "Since she can''t decide please give her the same order as mine."(Yuuto)


    Then the waiter left us and went to the kitchen to give our order. And a few minutes later the waiter returned with our order.


    "Excuse me waiter. Can I also order two pepperoni pizza?"(Yuuto)


    "Of course I''ll ask the chef to prapare two orders of pepperoni pizza. So please enjoy your wine. This is a wine called Chateau d¡¯Yquem Sauternes. It''s currently the best wine in our restaurant. Please take your time and enjoy the service her sir, ma''am."(Waiter)


    "I would like to have Chateau Lafite Rothschild waiter can you please give me that kind of wine?"Yuuto)


    The waiter bows and returned to the kitchen. And a few minutes later The waiter arrived with Our orders. So we prayed and ate our meal. As we were eating Yuuto said.


    "I''m actually the first born son of the a noble. But things aren''t going well with my father and me so I ran away from home and became an adventurer. But I wanted the two of them to be proud of me so I joined the army to fight the demon king''s army."(Yuuto)


    "Hey isn''t that a bit too reckless? You could be killed here you know?"(Yona)


    ''Then what about you? Your just a little girl and they expect you to fight? No matter how strong you are a little girl shouldn''t be on the battlefield. You should enjoy your life. You should not risk it to protect this country."(Yuuto)


    "I know that but... Who will protect the people of this country? We lack the military strength to fight the demon king''s army. And most of our lands are already claimed by his mighty army. If we don''t stop him now all of humanity will get wiped out. I can''t live a peaceful life if he is going to kill everyone in the end. For us to have a peaceful life we must fight for it."(Yona)


    "But we humans will never have a future if we don''t fight for it. Then the demons will take everything from us. I also wanted to live a peaceful life. But the demon king''s wish to destroy all of mankind is in the way. If I were given the chance then I wish that all this nonsense will finally end so that I can enjoy a peaceful life."(Yona)


    "Then if we can defeat the demon king''s army then that means that your wish will finally come true. So all we have to do is beat the demon king''s army right?"(Yuuto)


    Yuuto-san patted my head and said.


    "Don''t worry i''ll surely make your dream come true Yona-san."(Yuuto)

 v1 Chapter 04: A friend at the academy

    After the two of us had finished eating dinner Yuuto-san stood up from his chair and asked the counter on how much will he need to pay. And a few minutes later he sat down the chair and said.

    There was only silence for a few minutes and he said in a shivering voice.

    He took a deep breath. I can hear his breathing is getting faster and faster. Is he nervous of something but what? He was hesitating at first but he said.

    At first I hesitated but then when I smelled them I knew that they''re roses. I was suprised by the roses. But why would Yuuto-san give me roses? Wo I said my thanks to the Waiter and left the restaurant.


    On the next day I went to the town hall and I decided to wait for him since I told him that I would arrive at twelve O''clock. I sat down on the bench and listened to the children playing on the park. They seemed to be happy with their lives. But the demons plan on taking away everything from them. I can forgive them for doing such a thing.


    "Oh Yona-san you arrived earlier than me. How long did I made you wait?''(Yuuto)


    I was suprised when I heard Yuuto-san''w voice. I told him that we would meet here at twelve O''clock but why is he this early? It''s only eleven O''clock. So I decided to ask him.


    "What are you doing here this early Yuuto-san? I said that we would meet here at twelve O''clock but you''re already here?"(Yona)


    "That goes for you too. I decided that it''s rude for me to make a girl wait so I went on ahead. But I was actually suprised to see you here Yona-san. I didn''t expect you to arrive earlier than me."(Yuuto)


    I don''t understand him one bit. Why would he think that it''s rude to make a girl wait? Kaynard-sensei said that I should learn to be patient so it''s not a problem for me to wait.


    "So..... Where are we going Yona-san?"(Yuuto)

    The two of us went to the gate and the guard greeted us and said.

    And the guard let the two of us in the academy without anymore delay. As we were walking Yuuto-san suddenly asked me a question.

    Then as the two of us were talking I heard a familiar voice and it said.

 v1 Chapter 05: Forgotten memories

    Yuuto''s Point of View


    The prince of the kingdom is here before us, A young man with blond hair and silver eyes, He wore a Black tuxedo, A blue pants, A pair of black leather boots and A blue mantle to cover his body. On his wrist was a Kodachi that was about 55 centimeters long. He turned his eyes towards me and said.


    "I think i''ve seen you somewhere......."(Elrone)


    He stared at me for a while trying to remember who I''m. Then he looked at my clothes and on the left breast pocket of my jacket he saw the Yurimura family crest so he smiled and said.


    "So Yona-chan you really did came? I though father was only joking but it''s still nice to see you."(Elrone)


    " You knew about the assassins from the kingdom of Raidromia right? You''re aware that they''re here to take you away as a hostage. That''s why the king sent me here. So that I can protect you Elrone-san"(Yona)


    He smiled at Yona-san and turned his eyes towards me. His eyes were full of rage I felt like he''s trying to intimidate me, However I felt no ill intention in his eyes. But rather it''s jealousy? But why.


    Is he jealous of me? He treats Yona-san like she''s a princess but what about me? Does he like Yona-san? I must first confirm if it''s true or not, I also wanted to ask him a favor so I smiled at him and said.


    "Would you like to have a sparring match with me? Your highness?"(Yuuto)

I created a sword made of magical energy and pointed it towards Elrone.


    "Oh.... You used materialzation Arts huh? That''s an advance magic that even I can''t use, But I can see that you''re not skilled in close quarter combat like me. Your moves were sluggish so you should prepare yourself."(Elrone)


    Once again he leaped towards me to strike me down with his blade, I tried to intercept his attack with my blade. But after I parried his attack my sword it instantly vanished. And his attack pierced my left shoulder and blood started to gushed out of the wound after he drew the sword from my wound.


    "What did you just do? There''s no way that my magic was instantly destroyed by an ordinary Kodachi"(Yuuto)


    While blood was dripping from my wound I asked my question, But he laughed at me and said.


    "Didn''t you realize what my sword is? It''s a sacred treasure that possessed the power to render magic upon contact. It''s name is shattered fragment of the energy of life."(Elrone)


    He stared at me while thinking that he''s won, But he didn''t realize that magical energy was being gathered in my left hand and I begun to use my greatest magic.

    The magical energy that was gathered in my left hand started to replicate the Kodachi of Elrone-sama and a few moments later the Kodachi in Elrone-sama''s hand was completely replicated and I swung my Kodachi against his.

    The kodachi that I made clashed against his own, He was suprised that my blade didn''t disappear so with a troubled face he looked at me and said.


    "Why didn''t your weapon disappear? My kodachi can render any kind of magic, So why are yours still in one piece?"(Elrone)

    But this ability can''t be activated more than ten times in a single day. However the weapon created is saved my memory so I can recreate it at anytime. I pointed my kodachi towards the prince and arrogantly said.

    I successfully blocked his attack but something then suprised me. Blood started to drip from my right hand. And when I looked at it he managed to stab me with his sword. But how? I leaped back to get away from him but after I jumped back he was already behind me.


    I quickly tried to evade his attack but it''s too late. Elrone quickly stabbed my abdomen and more blood started to gush out of my body. Then he smiled at me and said.


    "Is this all that you''re capable of doing? You were talking all of those nonsense but you''re even weaker than me.... Don''t try to lecture me if you can''t even beat me."(Elrone)


    This is bad.... My body''s losing too much blood if this keeps up I might die. But if I can''t get away from him then I can''t cast healing magic. I must think of a way to get away from him first.


    Without giving me a chance to escape he continued his relentless assualt, He smiled at me and said.


    "Did you think that you can beat me? I''m one of the greatest swordsmen in this kingdom and only one person has defeated me and thus that person has earned my respect. Can you overcome this challange and defeat me?"(Elrone)


    It doesn''t seems like he''s trying to provoke me, But rather it see he''s complimenting me? But why?


    "Most of the people that i''ve fought has given up when I showed them the diffrence in our skills, But despite the difference in skill you continued to fight me thus earning my respect, I dislike people who give up when they''re pushed back, Only two people has showed me such resolve to fight, So I will show you my respect towards you in this fight"(Elrone)


    I had always thought that the prince was a little arrogant brat, But I was wrong he only wanted to fight an opponent which had conquered their fear to fight a person that was superior to them. I pointed my sword towards the prince and said.


    "Thank you for those kind words, But I will still defeat you your highness to prove you that skill is only a factor on the battlefield and you can still defeat your opponent despite being weaker."(Yuuto)


    "If you can really do it then try it, Just to give you an advantage I''ll tell you something about my attack, I used a skill called Altered strike, After one of my attacks was blocked or dodged it will rewrite reality to make the missed attack a successful hit."(Elrone)

I''ve faced countless monsters with my former group the Blades of steel. But one day we were wiped out by a group of orcs and I''ve decided to retire from being an adventurer.

    I leaped towards the prince at full speed, But he did the unexpected. He dashed towards me and prepared to strike, I was suprised by his movement so I panicked and tried to intercept his attack, But the my right hand suddenly was cut by this blade.


    "I forgot his skill altered strikes, But if this small wound will make me back down then I can''t possibly face that person again"(Yuuto)


    That''s strange? Why am I fighting so hard if I don''t even know the reason why I''m fighting? But I''m sure that I used my skill masteries of magic so I must have paid the price right? But I if I can''t focus on the battle then I''ll surely lose.


    "Did you think that a small wound is enough to stop me right now? Well then you''re wrong Your highness."(Yuuto)


    I casted flame magic and summoned giant ball of fire, Then I fired the ball of fire towards the prince, Then he leaped back to dodge my attack,

    After the fireball made contact with the ground an explosion occured and a smokescreen was created.


    I moved within the smoke to hide my presense, but I know that it''s useless against a skilled swordsman like his majesty so i''ll try direct combat instead.

    I gathered more energy within my body and used that energy to strengthen my body to improve my strength and speed, afterwards I ran towards the prince at full speed without worrying about defending against his attacks.

    The prince easily stabbed my lower abdomen and kicked me with his left leg, I leaped back but as soon as I turned around he was already behind me, and he thrusted his sword toward me, but this time I used [Strengthening] magic to increase lt leg strength then I kicked his sword with my right leg.

    The sword had a crack on it, since the sword is made of iron it''s only natural for it to have a crack, afterwards I leaped and I was laughing and said.

    "Will you slay an unarmed soldier? If your going to slay them then why bother protecting the people of your country, a country needs soldiers, but you should kill if there''s no need to kill, kill only when required to and spare them if possible."(Adele)


    Ester-san was speechless after Adele-san finished speaking what she wanted to say, then I tapped her shoulders and said.


    "Will this number of soldiers really be enough? What if the orcs flank us? how will you respond?"(Yuuto)


    "We''ll fight their army on an open field where there are no places to hide, and we''ll use the Rasfatian cavalry to clear out any orcs reaches our men so we''ll be alright."(Adele)


    After a few days of marching we finally arrived at the capital of Rasfatia the soldiers of sakuragami started to ready their encampment for the upcoming battle with the orcs, the king of Rasfafia was surprised when he''s heard that the sakuragami army has arrived at the kingdom, but was disappointed when he heard that their numbers where only more than two hundred thousand soldiers.


    I decided to enter the city, on the way I saw a young girl that long blond hair that was tied up in a twintail style, she had a pair of amber eyes, she wore a long robe that covers her entire body and underneath it she wore a full body army made of mithril, she''s also carrying a bow behind her back so I''m guessing she''s an archer, but she also has a short sword on her waist so I can''t really tell if she''s a swordsman or an archer, it seems like she''s an important member of the army, but by her looks she''s too young to be a commander or even a soldier.


    She seems to be having a bit of trouble with the guard who''s not letting him pass, so Ester-san and I approached the guard and said.


    "What seems to be the problem here? can you please inform us?"(Yuuto)


    "This girl wants to enter the city, but she has no idenfitication card, but she kept showing me her sakuragami military identification, but it''s against the rules to let someone inside the capital without a proper identification card, all the other soldiers from their country also has them so I can''t make an exemption just because she''s a girl."(Soldier)


    "Fine let her in, the two of us will supervise her."(Ester)


    The guard let''s out a sigh and said.


    "Fine if you really wanted to let her enter Ester-sama then I have no other choice but to let her in the city, but if things go wrong then the blames on you right?"(Soldier)


    "Yeah i''ll take full responsibility in case anything bad happens."(Ester)


    And the guard lowers his spear and opened the gates and lets the girl enter, the girl bows down at us and said.


    "Hello my name is Chizuru Okita of the sakuragami army can I ask the names of the two of you."(Chizuru)


    The girl smiles at us while she continued to stare at us so I gave my reply to her question.


    "My name is Yuuto Yukimura and this is Ester, it''s nice to meet you Chizuru-chan."(Yuuto)


    "..............."(Ester)


    While the two of us where talking to each other Ester-san seems to be spacing out, I wonder what''s wrong so I approached her and said.


    "What''s wrong Ester-san?"(Yuuto)


    Her face looks pale and when she saw me she said.


    "A dragon is flying above the Royal capital!"(Ester)


    And when I looked at the sky I saw a red dragon flying above the city so I drew my sword and readied myself for battle, but when I saw Chizuru-san who seems a bit too calm I asked.


    "Why aren''t you surprised Chizuru-chan, did you know that a dragon will appear?"(Yuuto)


    She continued to smile while staring at the dragon then a few seconds later her facial expresion suddenly changed from smiling to being sad and said


    "I heard that the empress resently added a dragon to our ranks, but I didn''t know that she would send it her, does that mean that she has too little trust in our skills?"(Chizuru)


    After a few minutes of flying around the capital the dragon slowly lands on the encampment of the sakuragami army and it''s body started to glow and a few moments later a beautiful girl appeared.


    She had crimson red hair, a pair of gold eyes,she wielded a spear and she wore a long white mantle and an elegant dress underneath the mantle she approached the lords tent and enters, the guards didn''t stop her so that means that she isn''t an enemy right?


    "Well Yuuto-san can you guild me around town?"(Chizuru)


    "I''m sorry Chizuru-chan but I''m also new on this town like you so I don''t really know my way around the town, but Ester-san works for the kingdom so she should know her way around the town."(Yuuto(


    "Well then Ester-san please take care of us."(Chizuru)


    Chizuru-chan bows at Ester-san and Ester-san seems a little bit surprised and said.


    "F-fine if you insist then I have no other choice right?"(Ester)


    And the three of us started our journey around the capital of Rasfatia, just what will happen in the battle between the orcs and the people from sakuragami, will they really defeat an army of two million with two hundred thousand soldiers?
