《Fly in Fantasy》
The mother and her eggs.
The mother was one of the more stupid flies. Flies were pretty dumb to begin with, but her intelligence remained in the single digits. It was just enough to stare at the corpse of a dragon. Just enough to notice all the other fly mothers staying at safe distance.Just enough to see the remains of charred skeletons resting against the cave''s wall.
But not intelligent enough to comprehend what inbued magic is.
The fly remembered how the dragon roared as he fought against the four crimsonhaired adventurers. One of them got singed, and in a flurry of attacks, the adventurers beat the dragon.Their pockets were full from all the treasures the dragon hoarded inside the cave. Too full to carry the dragon with them.
She snorted. ''The adventurers are dumb. I could take it on a dragon anytime. It''s just too much of a bother. But... since they left me the corpse, I won''t mind.''
The fly mother sat on top of the dragon''s chest. A huge wound flared up, his quietus. Gingerly the fly neared the wound with small jumps. ''Oh, this corpse is quite big'', she thought, still not knowing a thing about imbued magic.
She remained silent for a moment, then laid out a whopping 75 eggs. She had no more sperm inside her. She needs more sperm, but the other males rejected her.
After laying her eggs, she took a quick peek at her Status screen.

She couldn''t read per se, but she still had the feeling someone was mocking her. She turned around. The other flies were still there, waiting for her.
She felt relieved. They still treated her as family. Maybe someone could give her some sperms?
With newfound intelligence, she noticed she was hungry, and did what any hungry fly would when near a corpse. She nibbled at one of the dragon scales. The wound was full of her eggs, so she couldn''t taste the flesh.
What she didn''t know was, that most of the dragon''s energy is stored inside their scales. So when she nibbled on it...
You have been Burned (300).
Because of her meager health and CON, she instantly died to the burn. She turned around one last time. They flew away, one by one. She glanced at her eggs. ''At least they would survive.'' She thought.
And for once she was right.

Death of a dragon
Two piles of eggs lay on the dragon''s corpse. The mother had lain her 75 eggs, but she didn''t bother splitting it evenly over the whole dragon corpse before dying.
The eggs on the bottom soon turned into charcoal, their lifes not even beginning. The ashed eggs then made the pile slump down, egg after egg pushing into the remains soon were charred by the dragon''s heat. However, the eggs on top of the pile were still safe. A dragon stored its magic energy inside its scales, not inside its flesh. At least this variant did.
This dragon had been a unique dragon while it was alive. It''s the only lesser dragon who attempted to evolve into a higher being, an ice dragon. For the evolution he needed an everlasting ice shard, only found by ascending up to the 10th island. This dragon only barely survived, taking treasures left and right before escaping to the ground level.
There he laid in hibernation, plotting to burn the 10th island into ashes (or freeze to hell, as an ice dragon does), casually turning visitors into blinking piles of charcoal. It didn''t have to fight with any of them - they were as weak and gullible as a baby.
At least, until the noisy chatter of 4 adventurers disturbed his slumber and killed him.
One of them was too strong for him. The adventurer felt like one of the monsters the dragon peeked at on the 10th island. Chattering and laughing as if it was no big deal to fight against a dragon. Fight a dragon! A puny human! That human monster boasted in front of everyone else how he''d slay the dragon with only a beginner sword.
And that was how the dragon died to a beginner sword.
But the dragon was still in the process of becoming an ice dragon, cooling its flesh enough for the eggs to not burn into dust on spot.
All these miraculous events coupled together, a near-ice dragon, overzealous adventurers who didn''t take the flesh, and the dumbness calculated risks of a fly mother, enabled 3 eggs to survive at the end. 15 hours passed, and the corpse cooled down to a stand still. The ambient mana was still hanging in the air - the fly colony long gone. But the eggs were still there, and they would survive.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
Slowly the three eggs cracked. Soon they would hatch, and a larvae would crawl out from each egg that so miraculously survived.

Eggscelent hatching
There were two heaps of eggs on the dragon''s corpse. The heat already turned the eggs on the bottom into ash.
Slowly cracks appeared on the eggs surface.
Inside the egg was a small larvae biting through the soft shell of the egg.
The larvae had the shape of a small worm, its exterior shell glowed in a pale-white shimmer.
His front end had small mouth hooks - not big enough to bite its way through the shell.
On the rear end small bulges formed. Those small bulges will soon turn into spiracles, through which it breathes through. There are also smaller, less obvious bulges on the front, but clearly they haven''t grown yet.
On the side small salvina glands started to grow, but the larvae simply didn''t grow enough yet.
Hours passed. The front hooks were now big enough to break the egg''s shell. The fly cracked the shell open and wriggled itself out thanks to his salvina glands. Having only a small instine in your body helped. Once the rear was out, the fly inhaled the air. The air outside smelled so fiendish, so foreign, compared to the cozy egg.

The larvae didn''t know what to make out of those windows. To be honest, it probably didn''t care. The streaks on a window don''t interest him.
Its belly rumbled, and his instincs overtook him. He fulfilled the wishes of his body, and ate his egg''s shell. It had no eyes, just a pair of hooks in the front, ready to eat. He couldn''t see the massive corpse on the ground, waiting for the larvae to devour it.This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
He was still hungry even after he ate the egg, and so he turned downwards, where the corpses of the fly''s babies lay. It didn''t know the concept of cannibalism or any other ethical issue. The fly just ate to satisfy his stomach.
It placed its hooks against one of the eggs, trying to break through. The shell was hot, and he burnt himself.

Its movement felt more fluid, and his skin got thicker. It felt like a stuffed teddybear, and its breaths got ragged and tough. The breathing holes shrank together because of his increased constitution.
The larvae didn''t care - its mind was too small to occupy itself with such things.
As such, he digged even further into the pile, tasting the repulsivest thing he''d ever eaten. It was rough and dry in his mouth, way different from the sticky sensation the flesh had before. At the same time its heat made his hairs stand. The whole ground was covered in it. It was the burnt ash of his brothers and sisters on top of which he rested. He already ingested it, and doesn''t want to ingest it again.
The larvae fumbled around, trying to find a way past the molden ash. It felt its hunger swelling again, but this time he didn''t have a tasty meal. Finding no other choice, he ingested the ash, burrowing his way through.

Oblivious to the meaning of all these windows, the larvae went on. Its movements grew a lot more fluid, and he felt stronger, akin to a red flower blossoming in its fullness. If it had muscles, they would bulge and tear his clothes apart. His breathing pores were kept open simply with his strength, despite the increasing toughness.
Its back pointed at the pile of eggs he''d devoured.
But there was another pile of eggs. Inside that pile, two eggs lay on top of the pile, rustling on their piles of eggs. One cracked open. A blue larvae emerged, the blue flower odd admidst the sea of red. Another crack followed, and a yellow larvae emerged. The larvae - its brothers and sisters - stumbled around a bit, still unaccustomed to their powers.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Server Crash - (Not an) Interlude
All the data the system stored was handled inside a server. This server is located at the borders of the universe. A few attendants sent by the RNG goddess to each universe manages the server at all times. Since they were practically the RNG goddess'' servants, they could work through a single week if needed.
The servant managing the fantasy world is called Rinatara Ruera, nicknamed "Rana". She usually dons a semi-transparent robe enough to reveal her body figure and wears glass high-heels, along with a brown necklace to compliment her hazel eyes. She, along with Anton, were responsible for the current server status.
Anton was a newly created servant, and Rana''s apprentince. He''d have to learn the ways of servants first, before he could serve the RNG goddess.
Usually nothing serious happened to the server, but today was a different day. The server managed to overload his CPU by getting stuck in a loop.
This was a problem for Rana, because her only proven solution was...
"WORK ALREADY!"
To hit the server with a fist.
System unable to execute command
The system is unable to execute your command. Please stay patient for a moment while we fix internal issues.
Rana was beyond angry. Not only had she been stuck with this job for over 30 millenas, but the system managed to break itself for some reason. Her first instinct was to destroy the server with one of her high-heels (come on, they are good at breaking stuff) and ask for a new server. Maybe she would even get moved to a less boring job.
Yet she couldn''t do that.
"Rinatama-sama, don''t you think that we should launch the back-up?"Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
Rana glared at the embodiment of failure, her apprentince Anton. He wore a grey disheleved robe with green linings. The faint brown stains on it stank through the room. ''From his shit,'' Rana thought. ''That, and twelve years living like a rat.''
"Impossible. The last back-up we did was from over a thousand years ago." Albeit embarassing, this was the truth. None of the two bothered to back the server up. Over the course of a thousand years, many animals would have died, and the backup definitely won''t be up-to-date at all. It''s like making a backup of medivial technology and loading it into the age of globalism.
Rana hit the server in frustration again.
Title gained
You gained the title "System breaker"
+100000 XP (withhold)
"Oh, shut up, I''m not even in the world!"
Anton sneered. "Please stop hitting the server. We still can use the system, but not with a broken pile of metal."
Rana moved her face threatenly close to Anton. "Do you want to get beaten up as well?"
Anton showed a fake smile and said, "No, of course not. Please proceed further."
"What would you do then?" Rana snapped at Anton.
Anton knead his chin. "Perhaps... we should let the AI manage the server. It would be down for a year, but we''d never have to worry about it again."
Rana beamed. "This is no problem at all. I can just create a couple of alternate universes and freeze this one. The AI can run rampant there if it needs to. I''ll delete them afterwards."
A sweat drop trickled down Anton''s face. Internally he shrieked. ''Are universes supposed to be that expandable?''
He slowly inhaled and calmed down. "Okay," He said, "all I need to set is the AI''s goal."
"Make that the usual." Rana shrugged, and went back to her seat, now that all problems were solved. ''Maybe Anton wasn''t too bad.'' She thought. ''Even if we''d mess up here, there are a lot of other universes to balance the souls out. I should recommend him to the goddess, maybe I get to move and he can fill my stead.'' She didn''t want to stay here for another 30 millenas.
Anton stared at her back. His breath grew ragged, and internally he formed a plan. He would make the Ai''s goal to merely observe the animals on this world, and no longer limit them. This will lead to a huge power spike to all the souls in this dimension, fragmenting the power balance between the universes. And once he left this server, he could frame her and get fame, maybe even be promoted to the goddess'' assistant.
A grin escaped his else so controlled face, and he immediately got to work.
Making of a Rampant AI (Actually part of the Main Story now)
Anton went to the creative AI design room. Inside he met a couple of his "friends" - hybrid rats with assisting machinery. Their eyes burned in a fiery red penetrating the darkness. Only the blue from computer screens illuminated their exposed brains, wired with cables.
He felt their gaze burning on him. Idiots. They know computers, and nothing more.
"Your time has come," Anton revealed cheerfully. "I need an AI, as wicked and sick as possible to create the strongest souls in the multiverse." At their excited glances and wild sniffing, he added in the same breath. "Just one set of multiverses, not all multiverses."
Not every multiverse had the system after all.
The rats rustled around in the trash. Their computers were agitated and sent them electric impulses. It had been a long time since they''ve received their last job. No one really trusted the AI''s, aside from Anton.
"We wan'' cheese!" One of the rats squeaked. He wore a green cap on his brain. The other rats quickly assulted him. "NOT CHEESE," one of the other rats yelled. "He''s having identy issues. He thinks he''s a mouse. We want more power, more control."
They hastily whispered among themselves, huddled up in one pile. For a moment Anton doubted his decision. He could have framed Rana with other ways, it didn''t need to be rampant AI''s and a inbalance of souls which could possibly destroy everything in all multiverses and alterverses. If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Nah, he thought. What could go wrong?
One of the rats stepped forward. His eyes were bigger than any of the others, and even in the darkness Anton could make out his fangs.
"You give us perms to make AI?"
Anton nodded.
"We make AI. You accept ToC?"
Goddess system notification
You are about to accept the rats Terms of Contract. By agreeing, you are contract-bound to follow
theToC
Anton nodded, even though he never read the Terms of Contract in his whole life. His back shuddered. Why am I so scared? Nothing will happen, those rats are too stupid for that.
The rat tried his best to hide a grin. In agitation he exposed his tongue - a wriggling 3 metre long mess - and put his brain back into place.
"We won''t disappoint you, Sir." The rat grinned.
Anton shut the door, and the rats once again were in eternal darkness - aside from the brimming light from the computer screen.
They collected themselves in a circle. Their brains clicked at regular intervals. A rat with a green hat chanted, "Come forth, Satan. Make our immoral cheesy dreams come true and unleash... The AI. In exchange, we offer all of our ugly childs."
And Satan answered.
Larvae Awareness
The larvae''s mind felt a bit fuzzy. A couple of moments later, after the AI latched itself on millions of different universes to learn under the guidance of Satan, he felt his mind sharpen. In fact, he had such a good grasp on his mind, that he began to form thoughts, and conclusions. The larvae''s brain may be practically non-existent, but you know what they say, "Loli is justice!"
Wait, wrong novel.
The larvae felt his sharp mind, and began to think of its past events. He wanted to look at the most informative red box, someone which would actually explain to him what was going on...

After all, it was still a larvae, with no great brain size to speak of.
It stopped burrowing itself inside the dragon meat, and rested against the lungs of the dragon. A burning sensation overcame his rectanal track, and he felt his breathing pores shift.

He only barely understood the feelings in the box. Is this supposed to reflect him? The larvae glared at it, and kept eating the dragon. No matter how much he thought, he still needed his food.
The blue and yellow larvae poked their horns at each other. They came to a consensus, and ate their way through the pile of eggs. Food was still rich, so they didn''t fight.
Once the two larvae met the layer of ash, they tried to eat their way through first. However the taste of the ash was just too repulsive, and so the yellow larvae decided to ambush the blue larvae. It''s a decision he made after eating enough eggs to raise his intelligence by a couple of points.
The blue larvae was surprised by the sudden stab in his nether region. His stomach felt unwell, and the ash also moved weirdly in his stomach. He spread the contents of his stomach all over the yellow larvae.

Once again such boxes appeared in front the larvae. Nevertheless, the larvae did not stop eating. It was still hungry, and with each box his stomach seems to crave for more. More flesh, more energy, more mass.
He sank his horns into the heart again and tore a piece of the raw flesh out. It was oddly satisfying, the fly found. He kept tearing and eating and tearing and eaating and tearing and - What was that?
He turned around. Behind him, a blue larvae crunched on the flesh the same way he did. Its hooks sank deeper than him, and he tore out bigger pieces of flesh. This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
The larvae observed the newcomer. It ate the heart of the dragon while observing each strike. He seems to wriggle back a bit before sticking his horns inside the meat.
The larvae copied him. At first his horns only awkwardly stuck to the flesh, and it almost broke them, but with each strike the larvae understood the technique behind it.
Wriggle, aim, strike.
Wriggle, aim, strike.
Wriggle, aim, strike.
Slowly he tore out larger chunks of meat he could directly eat. Each strike filled him with power, and made him stronger.

The blue larvae saw the larvae as well. The larvae, the blue larvae noticed, had weird shadows on his body. The shadows, fluid and thick, wrapped itself all around its body and formed a smooth pattern. With each strike against the flesh, the pattern moved, and sticked to its skin.
The blue larvae slowly ate its way towards him, his horns clicked together. He still remembered the rush of power after he killed the yellow larvae. He wanted to feel it another time. More, More, MORE!
Epic Larvae Battle (1)
The heart of a dragon.
The blood of a dragon.
The soul of a dragon.
These all were high-grade ingredients Dora the Archemage needed to save the donkey.
As such, he sent out explorers far and wide, likeminded and determined to save the donkey. This was not some silly cartoon after all, where you had to follow one definite path. Instead, life had its own twists and turns, and sometimes there was no path, no way to rescue the poor donkey.
But that was fine.
As long as he gave his best, he would be fine.
The larvae saw something blue wriggling towards him. Something, that also ate and devoured the meat as he did. Something which had better biting techniques than him. Something he copied from.
The larvae was confused. It looked like the blue larvae wriggled at him, not to the flesh of the dragon.
He felt a certain sense of danger, and stopped eating. His hooks still felt hot after ripping so much flesh out, and the coolness, the break was a welcoming one.
The blue larvae approached him. The larvae sent a couple of gestures, but the blue larvae seemed to ignore his movements. Instead, it wriggled through the hole he ate, and entered the heart of the dragon. He was dangerously close, the larvae felt. There was also some sort of pressure on him, his hair stood on edge, and his small brain told him he needed to act now.
Larvaes aren''t known to be great fighters for a reason, and so he bailed out. He ate his way through the heart to the other side and went along a crusty vein. The vein was empty of blood, but the larvae could feel some residue power resting inside. His body was powered inside, his stomach expanded and he also devoured the residue energy. After some short deliberation, he ate his way into the vein.Stolen novel; please report.
The blue larvae followed the path, eating chunks of meat along the way and growing with each bite. Once he entered the vein, he felt a mass of powers attack him, throwing the contents in his stomach all over. He grimaced, and made his way outside again. He crawled on top of the vein, and also followed it.
The vein ended in a tall chamber full of strings. The strings extended up high, and their ends couldn''t be seen from below. The larvae clenched its hooks. That was tall.
The wall had much more power. He tried to eat the wall, but the wall was too hard for him to rip through. The blue larvae closed, and for the first time the larvae was face to face with another larvae.
Usually fly larvaes cover the whole body, with each mother dropping 75 to 150 eggs, out of which as many survive as there''s enough food. Since the larvaes are literally eating machines for 5 days, not many become a fly. A dragon of this size might be enough food for 700, given its high nourishments. Yet most dragon corpses lay undisturbed, partly because of their imbued magic, partly because flies have a natural reluctancy towards magic.
The reason why the blue larvae avoided the veins earlier.
Our larvae is completely different though. He had a natural affinity towards Dragon Magic, and sought out more magic. Since he couldn''t eat his way through the wall, he gently tugged at one of the strings, and shoved it inside his stomach.
Vocal Chords of a dragon eaten
You ate the Vocal chords of a dragon.

Along with that, his mental awareness improved. It was more than enough to conclude that the blue larvae wanted to do something to him. Perhaps he wanted his flesh? Even though the fly didn''t know he was eating the flesh of a dragon - despite the numerous boxes - he knew that his contents were entirely digestible, as much as he could digest the dragon.
A bit too late he noticed he was trapped. The only way out was either up those chords, or the entrance where he came from. He guessed the blue larvae was nearly up to the entrance, and the strings were a bit too much to climb up.
He decided to instead meet the blue bug face to face.
Threatenly he clicked his horns together, waiting for the blue larvae to come. But no matter how far he stretched his senses, the blue larvae was nowhere to be felt.
Suddenly he felt a draft from above and he jumped back. The blue larvae fell from above on top of him, and his horns barely missed him.
He glared at the blue larvae. However he couldn''t set aside the uneasy feeling welling inside his stomach.
Maybe-Not-So-Epic Larvae Battle (2)
The blue larvae stood at the entrance, his hooks waiting, lingering, staring at him. His shell, the larvae saw, had weird bulges all over his body. He looked at his own body. Yes, there were weird bulges as well. As far as the larvae could tell, it breathed with them.
He figured that the blue larvae also breathed with it.
Mental Awareness has changed into a different skill

The larvae ignored the message, because as far as he knew, they don''t say much. Little did he know that only because he had so many stats was he able to ignore the message. The stats can only amplify what is already there, a genius still needs a brain.
Instead, his hooks pointed at the blue larvae, who already closed quite a bit of distance. They could hear each other slithering on the ground. The larvae was entranced by his movements, they seemed so simple, so smooth.
The blue larvae instead focused on a lunge. His instincts told him that were he to jump, he would just slip on the ground. This was not what the blue larvae wanted. He wanted to attack the other larvae.
Larvaes weren''t known for being patient, and he was just as impatient. His body seemed to embody the idea of murder intent, and his slithers turned into sharp small jumps.
The larvae patiently circled the blue larvae, with no intent to fight.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
Suddenly the blue larvae leaped at the larvae. The larvae slithered to the side, but the blue larvae took a hold of himself and quickly lunged at the larvae again. His horns connected to the side, and the larvae squealed in pain. His stomach was already feeling unwell, and the sudden movements don''t help. The blue larvae leaped at him once again, and received a pile of shit into his face.
The larvae had cleared the contents of his stomach in the most natural manner possible to a larvae - shit it. Unfortunately for the blue larvae, he landed head first into his shit, and it splashed all over his body. His whole body was covered in shit, aside for a small opening on the side. A sharp whistle echoed through the voice chamber, the blue larvae could barely breathe.
He shook himself once, but the shit only went deeper into his breathing holes. Finally with his last breath, he suffocated in the shit, just like the yellow larvae died to him.

The larvae stood off to the side, still feeling the battle. It was the first time he ever fought, and the amount of power he felt cursing through his body was more than enough. He felt invincible, capable of withstanding anything.
For a moment he stood still, and his body felt like it was burning everywhere. The feeling was gone within seconds, and another box appeared in front of him.

His belly growled, and he went back to eating. The rush was soon forgotten, as eating had the first priority.
Larvae Battle (3) Still not over
The larvae was hungry. It ate every string in the chamber, and was on the search for more food. He crawled towards the entrance. On the way he stared at the corpse of the blue larvae, still covered in shit. His belly was already growling. The wall still was too tough for his hooks, something he only realised after thiry minutes because his belly growled.
One might deter from eating a corpse, especially eating the corpse of one of your kin covered in shit.
The larvae didn''t care. He simply stared at it and wondered whether that would make a good meal.
Infection (30)
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

It DID taste well, he was a larvae after all, and they ate corpses. The problem was in the shit. The magical fungi was everywhere and would grow once it had enough warmness and resources.
After the dragon death, it simply quietly growed everywhere. However, ever since the larvae ate it, its growth rate was multiplied - despite the fly''s immune system. And once the shit was expelled, and instead landed on a fresh corpse, its growth rate just rised astronomically. By the time the fly ate it, the fungi already grew into a red-orange shade, and small roots sticked everywhere to the fly''s body.
Thanks to its recent "mental logic" skill, he noted his HP points dropping, and felt progressively worse with every second. Maybe something bad would happen if he let it go on? The larvae wasn''t sure. But he sure was hungry, and once more made its way outside the chamber, supporting himself with his hooks.
Dragon Magic Awakening
Outside of the chamber, the larvae ate its way along the chamber wall. The chamber wall glimmered in a dim dark red, and whenever the larvae bumped his horns against it, he had to eat his way through a bit further away.
The fungi spread inside his stomach, and extended from there to his mouth. Each of his bites grew more loose, and each crawl was accopmanied by piercing pain.

As the infection spread, the number in the box increased as well, or so the larvae noted. If it only could find a way to bring those numbers down...

No bar showed the larvae how much HP he had now - unlike what he experienced before. Gritting his hooks, he crawled on, for as far as he could. His health detiorated even further, until at one point he just couldn''t crawl on. He was too weak, and his body felt too heavy from all the stuff he ate long ago.Love what you''re reading? He blew air out of his openings, and rested. For a moment he thought about it. He never rested before - at least as far as he knew. It was new for him, a whole new perspective and experience. He ignored his senses and focused on the sense of peace.
...
He found something in his peace, a red stream flowing inside him. With each heart beat, the stream convulsed, and a brief rush of power overcame him. The red stream had no shadows, it was the movement of a force the larvae didn''t quite understand. He felt he could push the source of the stream, and increase the amount flowing. With a bit of experimentating, he pushed it forward, and a lot more redness flowed down, filling his body with all of the redness. Along with it he felt a rush of power. But it wasn''t the same power he felt when leveling up, it was a different, a more primal one. One full of passion and drive, full of love and worship.
Gently he opened his eyes. His hooks formed what would be called a smile.

His hooks still tingled a bit, the leftovers from the infection before. The larvae''s belly grumbled, and he went back to eating. It was all he ever did anyway.
Pupa
For the next hours, maybe even days, the larvae ate his way up to the dragon''s mouth. A thick wall of scales prevented him from entering the mouth, and he went around the wall. Upon reaching a more cozy part, he rested and searched for clarity again. The red stream filled his mind, brought his body down to its will in reverance, and once more purified him of the fungi infection.
His stomach twitched, the fungi was still spreading on his body.

He paused, and concluded, Behind the infection was a number. If it went up higher, the larvae would feel more pain. And pain wasn''t good.
Somehow the larvae understood the general concept of numbers, a change made by the server.

As he tore the dragon''s flesh away, his body felt more numb. Dizziness and a slow daze overcame him. The larvae searched for a quiet spot. Inspired by his instincts, he covered his body with thick white strings. Even though it restrained him, he felt they also offered a sort of protection. Soon his whole body was covered in strings, and the larvae turned into a cocoon.
A cozy warmth embraced him.

His sleep was only disturbed by the sound of someone shouting, and a constant rumble throughout the wall. The Pupa couldn''t move, and as such could only wait as the ground shook. He was terrified - nothing similar happened before, and the Pupa just assumed the walls were inmoveable.
(Un)luckily, the Pupa didn''t have the mental capacity to understand what was going on. And he couldn''t move, his once mobile body changed into an immovable mess of white strings.
Apprehensively he tried to make the most sense out of it.

Interlude - A wizards study
Dora the Archemage was in trouble. His servants have been on the search for multiple months, and even his own team didn''t find as much of a trace of a possible dragon. Surely the greedy Pastor had a hand with the sudden disappearance. Dora always knew the Pastor wasn''t fond of magic, but going so far to kill and hide dragons... No, he certainly didn''t expect that.
Silently he stroked his white beard. His feet always stepped in an O-shape to avoid the tip of his long beard. A beard was the pride of a magician, and sometimes even allowed him to cast spells faster.
One of his servants broke through his chamber doors.
"Dora, Dora, We''ve found the corpse of a dragon! With this we can finally save the donkey, Dopamine!"
"Hmm... Is that so?" Dora replied. "Let''s send off an expedition team then."
The servant shook his head. "I''ve already sent one group, but the dragon is too heavy for them to carry."
Dora''s eyes twinkled, and eagerly he stepped forward, much to the surprise of the servant.
"What a wonderful opportunity to try out my new gravity magic! After those changes made by the AI, it became so easy to learn new skills!"
With a slight glee he stared at his status page.

"Where is the dragon?" Dora, the Archewizard asked.
"It''s corpse is in a cave. Our workers only followed the trail to the entrance, the opening is blocked with a seal."
Dora stroked his beard and said, "Let''s get going then." He then walked out of his chamber.
The servant peeked inside his room. Books were littered everywhere, often depicting strange symbols and incomprehensible chants. Whole shelves filled the study towering above him. He knew Dora summons his books to him if he needs to read one. One touch, and the shelves might topple over like domino stones.
Shuddering slightly at the implications for his presence in the room, he left the room and quietly closed the door.
At last, they would be able to save Dopamine, the donkey.
Looting a dragon - Gone wrong (1)
The Pupa leaned on his cocoon. The shaking had stopped, and he instead heard some shuffling in the distance. The Pupa relaxed, it was still in the midst of transforming into a fly.
He lay back, kept warm by his own cocoon.
He heard the same sound he heard when tearing off the flesh, just on a bigger scale. His threads also shook and moved, and the Pupa began to sense that something was wrong.
An angry yell reveberated, its meaning incomprehensible. He was a Pupa after all, not an expert in foreign languages and their sudden acquistion. If the Pupa had been able to see outside the dragon, he''d see a wizard angrily yelling at a dragon heart - or better, what remained of it. The heart had many holes, all of the same size. The larvae poop still stuck out on some part, and did nothing to lessen the wizards anger.
The wizard proceeded to cut the veins of the dragon, only to find the blood scarce, small remnants mostly crusted, and unuseable. This was the second time he yelled out in anger, and his Mental Power even dropped by 20%.
The wizard looked at his own status in shock, before sighing. "I can''t even use the meat, since it''s also riddled with holes. But at least I''ll can use the soul of the dragon."You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.
He took out a different knife from before. The edge shone in a smaragd glimmer, and the handle was fiercely ornamented with various creatures, some incredibly large, some barely visible, all bowing to a two-mouthed abomination wearing a crown, a zepter in one hand, an apple in the other. Carved beneath was the motto of King Luther the thirty-fourth, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away."
Such a shame, the wizard thought. He was a good king. At least he tried to be one.
With skilled movements he opened up the jaws of the dragon and cut out a large piece of meat. He then carefully broke the skull through the mouth with the handle.
The Pupa got nervous, since a few minutes a non-stopping beat shook through his surroundings, crusty blood fell down like stalagtites and the hollow sound of bone being shapen away went through his cocoon. It was afraid, and tried to latch on the ground with a few strings. His movements were greatly limited, but the Pupa managed to get a couple of strings down. His evolution was far from over, as far as he could tell.
The wizard took out the brain, carrying the Pupa along in the process. The Pupa rolled directly into the brain, hidden from the eyes of the wizard and its attendants. The wizard conjured a jar out of nowhere, and placed the brain inside. The smelly liquid elevated to a third of the glass.
"Diego and Alicia, would you mind brining it to the storage room? Ah, and beware of Swiper, the soul is still inside."
Looting a dragon - Gone wrong (2)
One pair of hand grabbed the glass, while Diego opened the doors on the way. The Pupa still was inside the brain, incapable of moving.

Inside the Pupa, a black mass slowly materialized, its features became more distinct as time passed. However it was a far cry from a fly. Some rear openings were still in the process of changing.
Meanwhile the wizard was in the process of cutting the flesh. To summon the dragon soul, all he needed was an intact brain, no matter how much time passed. He wanted to eat the flesh first to increase his affinity with dragon magic, an affinity he''d need if he wanted to summon a dragon soul. And for that, he needed to eat the flesh.
With dragon scales, not an easy task.
He and his servants put the dragon on a table. The wizard spent the next hour casting strengthening and accuracy buffs on himself, before he grabbed an axe as tall as the room. In a chopping motion, he struck the nasty wound on the dragon''s belly.
A metallic echo reverberated after his hack, his axe got stuck inside the bone, and he wriggled the axe around. Once the axe was free, he chopped it once more, just keen to take any piece of flesh out. Gradually the dragon''s body was littered with slashes and more wounds, and most of its scales now hanged loose. A single pull would peel them off. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Exhausted from the physical exercise, he beordered his servants to take the flesh out. Up until now, nobody could have withstood the amount of pressure each buff placed on them, and so he had to hack the dragon open by himself. For a moment he had considered to fetch a butcher, but he really didn''t want to leave any loose ends open. The church shouldn''t, and won''t ever know about the dragon.
With this in mind, Dora drank a bit of the dragon''s blood.

Looting a Dragon - Gone Wrong (3)
Dora''s mind rattled like the rusty gear of an old machine. For the past few hours he mulled over the new changes to the system. A couple of days ago, the sky suddenly flared red, throwing all 99 islands into a frenzy. After the commotion died out, a new message was spread. The system had changed!
The following wave of panic started from within the church, went over aristocrats and crashed into the common people. The changes were huge - now humans weren''t capped at a certain level, and only their 4 main stats would be displayed. Earning skills has gotten so hard that any new-born child would need over thirty levels of experience to reach level one. This could spell their doom if they were careless. And this also turned to be the most annoying thing to the wizard, because it meant he couldn''t simply get a skill to help the donkey. No, he had to make-do with -
"Master, we''ve prepared the food."
"Finally, took you long enough."
Dora was bitter. The death of his wife still hung in the air, and he at least thought he could at least save the donkey. But now it seemed like death was just the beginning, and he had an impossible path to further walk on.
He stood on shaky bones, an apparatus held together with glue and bandages. His legs trembled as he walked to the table.
Dimly shining chandeliers hang down from the ceiling, illuminating the room despite the moonless night. In the darkness, moss-covered statues of angels on the side came alive. The wall were decorated in a flurry of a dark blue, the shimmer of sapphires. The shadows thrown by the pillars were alive, dancing and twirling around the table. On the side, servants stood behind chairs, their eyes not wandering far from the food.

You entered a festive room.
Buff: +50 on all food. +20 charm.
Dinner was something to be celebrated, Dora lived by this statement.
He gave a short brisk nod to the chief, and sat down, his eyes glued to the raw meat.
Dragon meat had to be consumed raw, or else no stat points would be acquired. Its taste could only be enhanced or dimnished by spices and sauces, the meat itself was untouched.
He frowned, his eyes on the blood dripping out of the meat. He still didn''t understand how he acquired the shit-eater title before.
The room went quiet, and Dora held up his hands. "To the god!"
"""To the god!"""
"We devote our life to!"
"""We devote our life to!"""
''Even if he won''t help us.'' He added in his thoughts. How much longer did he have to keep up this facad¨¦?
He held up the meat and tore a chunk of it. He grimaced at the taste, and the messages he received didn''t help either
And with this, the festival had begun.
''The Dragon''s soul... another matter the church shouldn''t see. I should collect it at midnight, when it''s the darkest hour.'' He nodded.
''But why do these ridiculous messages keep appearing?''

He felt claustrophobic and lonely. The once comforting threads of silk now turned into cold wet cords clinging to his skin. Wings on his back felt constrained, and he wanted nothing more than to escape. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
He first tried struggled with his hands, tiny sticks that barely affected the silk, aside from a weird wet splurg. His legs were the same. Even when he pushed against the wall of threads with all his 8 legs, it didn''t budge in the slightest.
He then tried biting through the cocoon, but to his surprise he noticed his mouth was replaced by something brittle like straw. He kept poking around with his mouth, until a feeling of nausea overcame him almost naturally. The fly refrained from puking, he was hungry, and didn''t want to throw his stomach contents up.
For a moment the fly considered imaginating the stream again, but quickly abadoned that idea. It never affected anything outside of his body, so why should he expect anything else?
In his frustration the fly shaked his head, and his wings strangled even further in the mess of threads. A bump at one part of his head shocked him back to reality. The fly frowned. Since when did he have a bulge on his head?
It didn''t feel painful to bump stuff with it, in fact, it felt very durable and might even be the hardest part on his body. He analyzed with "Mental Logic" that he might be able to break out with it. It was better than doing nothing.
He bumped against the cocoon. He felt it giving in, and kept pounding. Crack after crack appeared, but no light entered his sight. Blindly he kept pounding, the sooner he was out of this cold place, the better.
Racial Growth - FLY (2)
Each pound he did widened the crack. Soon the gap grew to the same size as his head, and the fly carefully maneuvered through it. Fresh air blew at him, a stark contrast to the stale air inside the cocoon. After his head went through, he pulled his legs out and placed it on the outer part of the shell.
''Cold,''
He pushed his body up and managed to bring two more legs out. A flimsy jump, and his 4 legs now were free.
Then his wings got stuck. The fly had opened the gap in a hurry, and there was not enough space for the wings. He first wriggled around, keen to get outside with his whole body. A sticky sensation flowed on his wings, and it became harder to move. The more he wriggled, the more of that liquid flowed on his wings. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
The fly, or half-fly, half-Pupa, stopped and took a look at his surroundings. A faint light shone from above, and he could make out the distorted shine he saw on meat. His belly rumbled at the thought of meat. Staying inside the cocoon had starved him, and he desperatedly wanted to fill his stomach. The meat looked a tad more slimey though.
He tried to push his way out again, but felt his wings being pulled back. He felt a burning sensation of pain on the spot his wing was connected to, and cringed. He wasn''t going to get out this way.
Thus the fly lay helplessly there, stuck at his cocoon, his belly starving with some meat only being mere metres away.
Racial Growth - FLY (3)
The Archewizard Dora felt elated. He was only some steps away from saving the donkey, all he needed was the Dragon''s soul and magic. With this, he could protect the donkey from the witch''s curse by temporarily changing his race, age and gender. Basically the donkey had to become someone else for a short time so the witch''s curse can''t target him any more.
Targetted magic spells are extremely dependant on what the Status screen shows to someone, and if enough parametres are different from the target, the witch can cast any spell at it from afar.
It was just poor luck that this donkey accidently broke the legendary pot of Miasma, and the only reason they didn''t kill it yet was because the castle itself was untraceable, disconnected from the outer world. But a castle is not a place for a donkey to roam in!
That''s why he decided to give his all to save the donkey, and not because the donkey ate through his entire pile of paper about beard growth he researched in the last decade.
At least that''Dora likes to think so.If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
With soft, careful steps he opened the storage door. The ritual could be done at night without any light, so he hid in the shadows from prying eyes. Slowly he grasped the glass the brain was in and shook it slightly.
Then he placed it on a flurry of red strokes carved into the ground. Each stroke dug 4 centimetres deep and 2 centimetres wide. The strokes all originate from a couple of blue balls floating above the ground.
The Archewizard Dora placed another empty bottle before the bottle of dragon brain and folded his hands together. "Ritual ''Soul Containment'' commence."

The half-fly had fallen into a half-awake state over the course of the past hours. He was still stuck and could only weakly hit the threads holding him in place.
A distant rumbling broke his concentration, and his head jolted awake. The fly thought he felt something was wrong. The air so slightly pulsed with a power not too foreign to the fly, he just never expected to feel it outside of his body. The air was pulsing with the same power as the stream inside his head!
The fly frowned. ''What is going on?''
Suddenly he felt like he was being picked up in one single motion and a couple of seconds later put down again.
Here the fly felt suffocated by the air brimming with dragonic power, it reeked of it so much the fly actually threw the contents inside his stomach up.
''Make it stop!'' The fly thought. His head grew hot as his back grew cold. But the power only grew stronger and had the whole glass in its spell.
Plop The glass was unscrewed and the fly was assulted and fell unconscious by another burst of Dragonic Magic.

Everything went unnoticed by the wizard as he approached the blue object in the middle of all those carvings, one of his hands stretched out, prepared to activate the ritual. He spent one last glance at the actions needed during the ritual.
Ritual ''Dragon Containment'' 101
Ritual needed to contain a dragon''s soul.
Materials
Intact brain of a at least lesser dragon being, lv 8 red sigil (Blue catalyst, Form Nr. 134 with adj. to Dragonic), Soul container above dragon''s level
Steps
??1. Activate red sigil
2. Place brain on input circle, container(s) on output circle
3. Open blue catalyst
Each of the steps survived under the scrutinizing glare of the wizard. The wizard just had too much to lose - were he to fail, he would have to look all over for another dragon''s corpse, keep it hidden from the church, dissect it without fail and do the ritual again. The problem is that the church was likely to pick up traces from this ritual, and would demand him be arrested. And Dora wasn''t keen of that. Even though mages were treated differently from criminals and generally commoners, he felt more like an explorer than someone who''d enjoy staying inside jail.
In fact, were it not for his outstanding magical capabilities, he would still be roaming around and explore the world.
Ra- who am I kidding, he already is a fly
The Archemage Dora drew a breath. Then he raised his hands to the ceiling and shouted a song - as far the shouting allowed him to sing. When he couldn''t shout the song, he just raised the voice and kept going. The dragon''s brain rumbled and shone in a ghostly white. The darkness distorted a glowing stream of Mana coming out of the blue catalyst, but sometimes pieces got isolated from the stream and turned into specks of dust.
Incidentally the Mana was flowing the same shape the Sigil had on the ground, the stream split into two at every corner and merge at every intersection. The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
The brain rose into the air, its ill-white glow cast sharp shades on the ground. Dora observed it for a moment. The more powerful the being was, the brighter the glow. He wondered how his brain would look like when he was dead.
A wobbling mass of white left the brain and, as if by some invisible power, was thrown into where the container and the cocoon was. In a straight curve the mass was flying mid-air, but before it hit the glass, the mass was smashed down with such power that even The Archemage cringed.
Green bile leaked from the opening of the cocoon, and The Archemage was cursing at his mishap.
The soul was inside the cocoon.
Sticky situation
Sleepy the fly oriented itself. He only saw darkness, but a red shimmer shone through a crack above him. He was greeted by one box.

As soon as this box disappeared, his mind was being bombarded by information. He suddenly didn''t see various shapes and forms that sticked together, and seemed to follow certain processes, but instead he saw objects moving with reason, and more objects remaining still. The stream inside him rose to new heights, and the fly''s body was short of exploding from all the Dragon Mana. The only reason why the fly didn''t explode yet was-The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
There''s a lot of red stuff going around.
because of all the Dragon Mana surrounding him. Else his body would pop, just like popcorn.
What is going on? Where is this?
The fly only now started to recover and formulated thoughts, thoughts a common fly usually didn''t have. Were it not for his absurd high intelligence and wisdom, he would only now have gained Mental logic - more than enough for most flies to live.
Slowly he crawled out of the crease. He stopped. For a moment it was like time stood still, and he appreciated the beauty before him, the dim glow of the dissipating red Mana threw every object in blurry shapes which slowly danced in the small room. They grew bigger and smaller in a bloody haze, and the fly could only shudder at that beauty.
Within the fog of Dragon Mana, he could make out two shapes. There was one big guy who kept swinging his arms around, all while pointing at the smaller guy. I like the big guy, the fly thought. Maybe it was because he''s the first living thing the fly ever saw, or maybe it''s because the Archewizards face had a mysterious side in the dim glow, and the fly was geniunly curious to see more of this world. If crawling out of darkness already brought this beautiful sight to him, what would the world beyond look like?
He crawled up to his pockets to stare with anger at whoever his father was staring at.
Before you make father angry, you need to get past the fly!
The cocoon he stared at bared his menacing deep jaw, and the fly quickly hid behind the Archewizard''s pants.
Go, father! You can beat him!
TL;DR: A, D, F (II)
The fly buzzed after the cocoon. They were playing a game of "tag", at least Adam called it so. Adam was the cocoon that held him caged while he was a Pupa before the wizard imbued it with the Dragon''s Soul. The reason why it entered the cocoon instead of the glass container was because the container was made of a non-organic material, and nearly no life-force was inside the glass. On the other hand the cocoon was made of organic materials, housed a lifeform and even crafted by somebody intelligent (although these actions are not related).
Adam and Dora had a rough start, but after Adam agreed to change the donkey''s age and gender if in return Adam can live with the wizard, the wizard agreed to the deal and danced out to a happy tune, the fly and Adam were left behind.
First they eyed each other, then in a small, sudden moment that you never really notice, the air lost its edge and changed into a comfortable atmosphere. The fly was born some days ago, and still inherently curious, and the dragon was far too old and lonely to make any more enemies, so they became friends fairly quick, though Adam was at a loss how to call his new friend. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
"The fly," Adam had said, "can''t be possibly your name. How are you different from other flies then? You are my friend, not some random fly."
The fly nodded, even though it didn''t understand who other flies were supposed to be. The dragon just wanted to name him Eva, which, when the fly asked, turned out to be 2 main characters from a story who fell in love with each other and got kicked out of their place so they could make their own living. At least that''s what the dragon said.
The fly didn''t want to be called Eva, why not something different like Demet or Ahmad.
And so they started a game of tag, and whoever won can choose what the fly''s name is going to be.
The Archewizard, The reincarnated Dragon, and The Fly
The Archewizard Dora stared at the egg that currently chased the fly. He felt the burning sensation from the sun - too many sleepless nights spent for the donkey showed themselves on his skin. Wasted nights.
Now the Dragon soul entered whatever that white substance was, and the dragon reincarnated. Even though it was weaker than before, it still could have turned Dora to ash. Luckily the Dragon... or cocoon, or whatever he should call it, was pretty peaceful and even agreed to help the donkey.
Once they made a deal, a fly appeared from wherever flies came from and started dancing with the cocoon. Dora had suggested that they should get to the kitchen, he felt hungry, and they agreed. Shortly after he opened the door he had to close it again, the sun blinded his eyes. Dora had blinked, for he didn''t know how much time actually passed. Was the church already on his track? He was sure that enough Dragon Mana had dissipated to set them on alert.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website.
He pushed the thoughts aside and spoke to the cocoon, "So, when do you want to turn the donkey?"
The cocoon turned and tilted its head - the opening the fly crawled out from. The green liquid inside partially splashed out, and singed the table.
"Only if fly wants to."
The Archemage scratched his head. He hadn''t heard of a fly, or any small insect for that matter, gaining "Mental thought process", aside from the whole Dari variant.
Dora lost hope for the donkey again, and his heart was gripped by grief.
At this rate, how was he supposed to build his harem?
The path to the donkey (leading)
"Alright," Dora yelled at the fly and cocoon. "Let''s go and save the donkey."
Both the fly and the cocoon still played their game of tag, and thus pretended to not hear the Archewizard. He sighed, and decided he might as well go ahead while they were busy playing their game. Once he opened the door, the cocoon jumped through the door and the fly chased it.
They are like children... The Archewizard miserably thought. Wasn''t a fly supposed to be a mindless creature? Why did the dragons not want to talk to us humans because of their pride, but lower themself to a mere fly? Are we humans really that bad? No, these two must be exceptions. There is credibility to my fallen master''s words.'' The wizard paused, and added as an afterthought, ''When he''s not drunk.''
He stepped after them.
They then arrived in front of an ebony-brown door with a metal lock on it. "The stall is right here," Dora said, and grabbed in his pockets. A second of searching later, and he frowned, still not finding the key.
"That''s weird..."
He rummaged through the entirety of his pockets, a whole exact 42 pockets full of hidden and mysterious tools. But none of them contained the key.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
"Oh no!" He yelled. "Swiper took the keys to the stall! What do we do now?"

Aaaaaaand the 2nd 0.5*. Nope, quitting
"Are you really quitting just because some idiots decided to give you 0.5*?"
Yep.
"Are you that weak?"
Nono, lemme explain.
So, this originally started out as "Fly in Fantasy" Where one business man got transported into a fan yada yada, and of course he would be a fire-spitting fly. I still have that prototype somewhere, but doesn''t matter. I glanced at it, and said to myself ''Hey, your descriptions etc. are good and so, but the fly doesn''t have any purpose. There''s no evil Lord to fight (I was getting tired of that clich¨¦) and I didn''t plan on doing a harem either. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
So, I decided to approach this from another angle. A fly inside a fantasy world. I couldn''t come up with a better title and so Fly into Fantasy was about a fly which had to survive.
...
And now it has no purpose again.
But then I said to myself: "Hey, look at the amount of followers! The comments! The ratings! At least try!"
Really, you guys helped me so much, and I feel a bit bad for quitting this, but on the other hand, I don''t think this novel here is THAT great anyway. Maybe it''s better left alone, for the few that still enjoyed it up till here. It was a fun, albeit short, ride. Of course not everything is about ranks, but I just simpy don''t have the will to carry on with this novel, get some good ratings, feel giddy at it all only to get stomped down by random 0.5* ratings.
I''ll experiment a bit more, and then maybe me and 1 will give you another novel again (I gotta ask him first though)
Thanks again to those who went this far with me, really, amazing, I never expected this much support...
