《The Titanic Fanatic》 Prologue: When Titans Ruled the World **2 Million years ago** Jallah grabbed on to the tree branch for dear life. How could this be happening? He thought. He had never heard of anything of the sort happening to anyone before. What was that wind powerful enough to send me flying off the cliff? Did Lelantos, the Titan of the Air and the Unseen, attack me? No, the Great Titans only protect us. Then how could this have happened? He mentally rambled. Jallah was an unusually moral man. That¡¯s not saying much, however, since everyone in the world was perfect in every way. After all, though none of them would know it, they lived in the Golden Age of Mankind. Suddenly, he saw a blue flash in the sky, along with a loud bang. More than a little surprised, he let his hand loose its grip, ever so slightly, and fell. Heart pounding, he thought about what would happen. Then he realized that the Titans will definitely arrive to save him, so he should just calm down. As he was falling to his doom, he calmed down, closed his eyes, and wondered what would happen if the Titans didn¡¯t come to save him. If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. Jallah was the first mortal in the world to die a violent death instead of a peaceful one. He didn¡¯t deserve it, obviously, but then again, no one did. They were all perfect. Unfortunately, someone had to be the first, and that someone just happened to be Jallah. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. On a somewhat positive note, at least he was the first man to experience lightning-Zeus¡¯ lightning as he sneakily struck down the Lord of the Titans to be exact. The moment before Jallah met the beautiful river underneath the cliff, he saw the end of the world as he knew it, and he had a feeling that the world would never be as wonderful as it was to his generation and his ancestors before him. Before he died, he used his perfect intuition to realize the bitter truth. I am the last pure human to die. Everyone will now live in an imperfect world, and that will cause them to become imperfect as well, Jallah foresaw. As he hit the water and his body was shredded into parts, he resigned himself to his fate and lamented the fate of the world as well. And there was nothing that any mortal could do about it. After all, mortals just didn¡¯t have enough power or intelligence to rival the higher beings. After Zeus took the lead, the world deteriorated exponentially, and the ages passed, getting worse and worser still. 20 million years later, after everything had went to shit, humanity started its upward rise again with the Renaissance up to the present time, and this, my friends, is where the real story starts. Chapter 1- Meeting Rax The bell rang with its usual shrill cry. "Finally!" John sighed. The bell always irritated him, but it was a necessity that he just had to put up with... along with everything else. These "teachers" and "classes" and school in general were so flawed. John knew that if he was in control of the school system, he would be able to make it so much better. You know, actually focus on practical applications and things that actually matter in life... John realized his mind went off on a tangent again, and that he was still sitting down on his desk while everyone else was shuffling out of the classroom door, some occasionally shooting hostile glares at him. The class just got back their calculus test and as always, John was the only one who aced it. Not to mention that he doesn''t even study, but everyone knows that already. How much can a teenager study when he isCaptain of Varsity Boxing, President of Volunteering Club, and Head Researcher at a nearby community college-in high school? While he was thinking, he caught the eye of a tall student dressed in all yellow, probably a senior, staring at him. This wasn''t the wierd part for John, because people stare at him alot out of jealousy and he loves it. The wierd part was that this guywasn''t staring with envy. John couldn''t quite put his finger on what it was, but the student kept staring at him until some girl walked through their line of sight. Immediately, the tall student was nowhere to be seen. John guessed that either he was hallucinating, or this student was the fastest person he had ever seen in his life. Well, that was... wierd. He shook his head to clear his mind. Quickly,he stood up and left the classroom, taunting all who looked enviously glared at him with his usual cocky grin. As he came out, another boy came across the hallway and greeted him. "Hey John, you wanna meet up online and play some StarCraft. I could use some help from the number one player in the world." He said solemnly. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "Relax Ed, it''s just a game. You''re taking it way too seriously," John replied, smiling, despite knowingEd would get triggered. He just couldn''t resist. John just felt that there was just something so satisfying about mildly triggering people, even his friends. He got ready for the cringe. "You''re telling me that? You out of all people? My life''s dream is to be the number one StarCraft player in the world, and I play for hours and hours on end, and you play for an hour a day tops and you''re still first!" Ed yelled, panting towards the end with a red face. John was just laughing his ass off at this point, and people around were looking at him like he was crazy. After John gathered his bearings, he resumed the conversation. "OK, You know how busy I am right? I''ll be free at 8 PM. Be online," John said, gave Ed a pat on the back, and left to teach the freshmen how to play golf. As he was making his way to the field, the mysterious guy dressed in yellow came out of a random corner and looked at John. "Hello, good sir. My name is Rax, it''s a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he held out his hand. So this guy acts wierd, talks wierd, and has a unique name. Oh, and dissappeared in front of me. Hmm... intriguing, to say the least. Warily, John shook his hand and introduced himself. "Hi, I''m John Doe. Nice to meet you but I can''t talk right now because I have to go somewhere. Bye," he said and was about to leave, but Rax grabbed his shoulder to stop him. ¡±Wait! I must show you something that is a matter of great importance! It redefines everything we thought we knew about the world, and I feel that you are the only person who would know how to best proceed henceforth!¡± he exclaimed.John raised an eyebrow, doubtful. However, he sure enjoyed being flattered as it fed his ever-growing ego. ¡°Something of great importance, you say? I¡¯ll do your homework for 20 bucks or a project for 100,¡± John stated, purposefully ignoring the part about redefining worlds, because that was just too crazy for him to take without a grain of salt. ¡°None of that,¡± Rax said. ¡°There is a place in this school where I found something so otherworldly and exciting that I think you will be intrigued by it.¡± Rax immediately turned around started walking towards one of the school¡¯s many cafeterias, waving John along. ¡°Follow me.¡± If it¡¯s more ¡°otherworldly¡± than you, then I¡¯ll genuinely be surprised, John thought, but his curiosity got the better of him and he followed Rax anyway. Might as well humor the guy... What¡¯s the batshit craziest thing that could possibly happen anyway? Chapter 2 - Coeus John followed Rax into the cafeteria, when he realized something very odd. He remembered this particular cafeteria as the one that was always locked for some reason, but no staff said anything more than ¡°We lost the keys, and they were unique so we¡¯ll never be able to open that door again, sorry,¡± and no student cared enough to dig any deeper. John wondered how this cafeteria just opened up all of a sudden. ¡°Hey Rax, how is this cafeteria open?¡± John asked warily. Rax seemed confused. ¡°What do you mean?¡± He asked. Now John was confused. ¡°Are you a new student? How do you not know that this cafeteria was locked since the school opened and no one knows why?¡± He asked, suspicious. Rax looked surprised for a moment, but quickly recovered. ¡°Oh yes, I am a new student in this province,¡± he smiled. ¡°I had no idea that this was supposed to be locked. It was open when I wandered in here. Therefore, I expected this area to be public. Now my discovery makes sense,¡± he said in a strained manner, like he was reaching for words. John wasn¡¯t buying it. No way. This guy is actually creeping me out now. For the first time in his life, John felt truly scared of someone. Nope, I¡¯m out of here John just turned and ran, but to his horror, the door swung shut and locked. ¡°Oh, shit,¡± he said and spun around. Rax was still smiling and holding another door open on the other side of the cafeteria. ¡°Hey, look, an exit,¡± he said. ¡°Let us see where it leads.¡± Rax went inside. John had no choice. He was at his wit¡¯s end. He simply followed, prepared to use his superior boxing skills to his advantage, and went through the door. As he did so, he went his surroundings change into a dark, damp room that was so large that he couldn¡¯t see all the walls. He was shocked and when he looked back, the door was gone.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website. John pinched himself. Wake up! Wake up John! Hethought. He looked towards Rax and got ready to fight... or something like that. He wasn¡¯t really sure at this point. Rax was right... everything he thought about the world was changing by the second. Oddly enough, nothing came out to try to kill him. Rax was standing there, pointing at what looked like a very large open casket on its side, open side facing them. The cover had slid off and had a word written on it in beautiful golden calligraphy: Coeus. Coeus? That sounds familiar... where have I heard that word before? John thought. The casket was about 200 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 70 feet tall. What shocked John the most, however, was the absolutely massive giant inside it. There was a huge man inside the casket, and he had a white beard that was three times John¡¯s size alone. He was wearing white cloth and looked like a very enlarged version of Gandalf without the hat. ¡°See, my good friend. The proof is in front of your eyes,¡± he said. Suddenly, Rax widened his eyes out of surprise as a red wispy substance flew out of himand into the giant. Rax looked surprised and frightened. ¡°What the hell was that? What¡¯s happening?¡± Rax shouted, and John noticed that for the first time, Rax talked and acted normally. Is this some sort of demonic possession? John shuddered, but he had to keep his composure to not freak out Rax even more. ¡°Rax, I think you¡¯re no longer possessed by whatever that was. We should try to find a way out of here.¡± Rax looked at John, slowly recovering. ¡°Shit, I think I just accidentally unleashed a monster,¡± he said solemnly. ¡°Do you remember anything? What happened?¡± John asked. Before Rax could answer, the giant rustled slightly, spasmed intensely, and then fellout of the casket. To John¡¯s horror, the ground shook and the massive old man opened his striking golden eyes, and looked at him. With a loud, rumbling voice, the giant spoke. ¡°I shall grant you the knowledge of that which has transpired.¡± Chapter 3 - The Revelation There was something in the giant¡¯s tone that made him seem quite grandfatherly. Immediately all of John¡¯s fear dissipated into the wind. He knew he should be scared, but at this moment, he just felt socalm. So, John used this newfound calmness to compose himself and noticed that Rax was fine as well. He had a fleeting thought that questioned how any of this was possible and why Rax and he weren¡¯t flipping out, but he quickly dismissed it.I have to focus. This being may give me answers,he thought. ¡°I am known by mortals as Coeus, the Titan of Intellect. I have not much time, but I will tell you all I can before my essence is attracted back to Tartarus,¡± Coeus said in a deep rumbling voice. .....What? Coeus... Titan.. of Intellect... oh you¡¯ve got to be fucking kidding me,he mentally sighed. ¡°You¡¯re a Titan... Greek Mythology isn¡¯t just mythology, is it?¡± ¡±I¡¯m afraid not, John. However, the events did not exactly transpire in accordance to the written stories. I regret to inform you that the real story is much worse.¡± Coeus said, sadly. ¡°Woah, hold up a second. Can you let me go back? I lost all my curiosity. I don¡¯t even know why I decided to go into the suddenly opened ¡°mystery always-locked cafeteria¡± in the first place, but I don¡¯t trust you. YOU possessed me somehow. And now you¡¯re also somehow keeping our emotions in check so we can¡¯t freak out!¡± Rax cried. ¡°Ah, yes. I simply coerced you into bringing me this young man here. You may leave whenever you desire,¡± Coeus stated. Rax looked around. There was no way to leave that he could see. ¡°How am I supposed to leave?¡±Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. Coeus laughed heartily. ¡°Why, by finding a way out, of course. After all, I do love some rational thought!¡± Rax glared at the Titan, and then walked off into the darkness to look for an exit. John looked at Rax¡¯ retreating figure, weighed his options, and decided that it would probably be more worth it to listen to what Coeus has to say. Things have slowly been setting itself into place into John¡¯s mind, and he started to have an easier time believing that Greek Mythology is real, or as far as he knows, at the very least Coeus is. This being in front of him is ancient and powerful. However, John deduced that the Titan in front of him is only just a fraction of histrue being, since he mentioned something about his essence falling back to Tartarus. ¡°So.. what is the real story?¡± John asked. The Titan sighed, millions of years worth of sighs in one, and said, ¡°it would be better if I simply show you.¡± ¡°What do you mea-AAH!¡± John was cut off as Coeus moved with a speed unfathomable to the human eye and placed two fingers on John¡¯s brow. John felt some sort of divine radiation pulsing through his brain, when suddenly, he was able to not just see, but fully experience entire events of the world¡¯s truly ancient history. John experienced the tyrannical Uranus wreaking havoc over earth by shoving his monstrous children back into Gaea so that she could not bear them. He experienced The Titan Hero Cronus fight an honorable duel with his father Uranus and cut off his dick at the end(he flinched watching that part). He experienced the Golden Age of Mankind under Cronus¡¯ Kind and Just rule. And then he experienced the end of the Golden Age when Zeus struck His father Cronus on the back with a lightning bolt and the first violent death of a mortal occurred as ¡°collateral damage¡±. John saw that in reality, Cronus was fair and kindto his family kids and did nothing wrong. He especially didn¡¯t eat them, so why did the written stories say Cronus ate his children? Why would he, when he himself was the one who taught his own father a ¡°lesson¡± for being evil? John realized the the written stories made no sense, and everything he is seeing makes everything fit together like the perfect solution to an elaborate puzzle. Chapter 4 - Crimes Against Humanity Slowly, but surely, the visions continued. John felt the betrayal that Kronus did when his most beloved son Zeus treacherously ambushed and weakened him to the point of no return. John saw Zeus taking the reins to the universe and casting as many of the remaining Titans and their allies down to eternal torture in Tartarus as he could. Peaceful or fearsome, innocent or guilty of various crimes, it mattered not to Zeus. He demanded that everyone in the Universe, even his own siblings and ancestors, bow to him as their supreme deity, and he was powerful enough to back it up. While John was experiencing the end of the Golden Age as Zeus took over, he wondered whose point of view he was watching from, because at this moment, he realized that he had no control over the body that he was experiencing these immersive flashbacks from. He started to pay more attention to his surroundings, and inferred that he was seeing all this from Coeus'' point of view after realizing that he was gigantic and seeing a long white beard under him from the corner of his eye. Makes sense, he thought, he is showing me what he experienced after all. John then watched how Zeus ruled the Universe tyrannically, even more so than Uranus did billions of years ago. First, the God of Lightning tainted the human race with evil by introducing Pandora¡¯s Box and starting the Silver Age. He ended this Age by pulling a mass genocide on the entire human race, due to their impiety and immorality... which was caused by Zeus himself. Wait, what? Is this guy actually retarded, or does he love being the most deadly criminal and tyrant in the history of the Universe? John wondered, with a touch of mental sarcasm. Zeus then recreated humanity with tougher bodies, but the same mentality as humans in the Silver Age, for some reason that John did not have an IQ low enough to possibly fathom. In this Bronze Age, the God of Lightning threw a temper tantrum for some random petty "offense¡± that he got triggered about. This tantrum ended up causing a major flood that killed most humans (Zeus doesn¡¯t learn, does he? ), but a man named Deucalion and his family survived and repopulated the world somehow. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. As John saw this scene play out, he noted that the only reason Deucalion survived was because his father was the Titan of Foresight Prometheus, and Prometheus warned his son beforehand. Now this Titan was a true hero. He tricked Zeus into thinking that they were on the same side and that he and his brother Epimetheus were against the other Titans, and he always helped humans to the best of his ability- whether it be bringing them fire or saving them from utter and complete extinction. John saw Prometheus looking like a giant handsome young man wearing orange monk-type robes. He was able to escape Tartarus, but Zeus tortured him in other ways which John hoped he could unsee... ¡°Holy shit!¡± John cried in horror. Ok, not only is Zeus basically a mass murdurer criminal, he is no better than a savage monster! John asserted. I always thought the written version about the eagle and liver was bad enough! Thankfully, the scene shifted off Prometheus and the end of the Bronze Age, showing Zeus taking a break from being a tyrant to be a massive douchebag player and fucking around with lots of young women. During this time period of roughly six generations, there was an opportunity for humanity to make a comeback since Zeus was getting it on with other ¡°business¡±. This was known as the Heroic Age and John felt exhilaration and happiness experiencing this Age. Heroes rose to defeat monsters and accomplish feats deemed impossible, to such an extreme degree that ballads would be sung about them eons later. He saw lots of cliched stories here, but it felt so good that he didn¡¯t mind. Unfortunately, this happiness wasn¡¯t to last. Zeus realized what was happening and returned to orchestrate events in such a way that the Heroic Age collapsed in on itself. Abruptly, the vision that John was experiencing for what felt like eons flickered and ended, dying away into smoky wisps. Coeus was facing John with his eyes closed and two fingers to John¡¯s brow. The Titan let go, opened his eyes, and started fading away slowly. ¡°Coeus, what¡®s happening?¡± John asked, panicking. ¡°You¡¯re disappearing!¡± The Titan looked at John somberly. ¡°Indeed, I am.¡± Chapter 5 - A New Obligation John stayed silent. He wanted to ask so many questions about what he just witnessed, but he couldn¡¯t bring himself to speak. Watching this friendly Titan fade away into Tartarus, John was shocked. Throughout his visions, he had never seen, but only very slightly feltsome of the unspeakable horrors placed in Tartarus. Some ancients beings were so powerful and so savage, that only the Primordial God Tartarus himself could suppress them in his domain. Onething John did know, however, was that Coeus and most of the Titans did not at all belong there. In fact, John thought that Tartarus was actually the perfect place for a monster like Zeus. As John was thinking, he heard Coeus¡¯ voice in his head, even though his body was almost completely gone. I have shown you all that I was able. I trust that you can make the correctthedecision for Mankind, and even the Universe, from here. Coeussaid. ¡°I want to help. Truly, I do... but I can¡¯t. I am just a mere mortal. I saw the power that the immortals wield. What am I supposed to do?¡± John implored. You are no longer a mere mortal, my boy. You now have the Power of a Titan running in your veins. However, it will take time for you to learn how to use this power to its fullest, Coeus revealedin John¡¯s mind. John¡¯s eyes widened in surprise and shock. ¡°What? The power of a Titan? That¡¯s impossible! I¡¯ve seen what your kindcould do! You could move mountains and destroy kingdoms!¡± John exclaimed. Quickly, John realized that his emotions were taking over and quickly regained his composure. He focused and cleared his mind to the best of his ability. The last thing he should do at this point is doubt this Titan, who had shared his life¡¯s most important experiences with him. He wanted to feel this power.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. Hetried to feel it, concentrated on the Titanic Power pulsing through his veins... but he felt no different. Until the moment he did. It was nothing much. Just a little flicker of sorts that he felt in his mind. If nothing else, this flicker gave him the indication that he contains extreme power, but he is unable to harness it at the moment. John didn¡¯t quite understand how he came to this conclusion, but he trusted it. John guessed it was probably gut instinct. Regardless, he turned his attention back to the fading Coeus. The Titan was almost gone, but John could still feel him in some way. As if... he was feeling the very essence of the being that is Coeus. But not just him. John felt another presence as well, and it seemed very familiar. Realization dawned on him. Rax! He¡¯s still looking for the exit! But then another realization dawned on him. I can feel other being¡¯s presences now?John inferred, thisTitanic Power is truly real! If John didn¡¯t fully believe any of this was happening or that he was gifted power, he sure did now. But he still had one question. ¡°Why me?¡± he asked to seemingly nobody, as at this point Coeus had all but disappeared. ¡°Out of all the people in the world, why me?¡± Surprisingly, the last vestiges of Coeus was still there to give him an answer, albeit a vague one.I was searching for a potential savior from the moment my essence escaped Tartarus temporarily. I then had help from a friend who gave me enough time to find one: you. You were the only human that I found in this world that was intelligent, driven, and reasonable enough to bear great power, while having a burning desire to be a great savior of humanity at the same time.... At this moment, John felt the last of Coeus return to Tartarus. He sighed. I only wanted to save humanity from its own utter stupidity... Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that I would have to save humanity from the one that claims to protect it! John looked up at the black ceiling, and slowly he started to see through it and saw the stars beyond, gazing into the night sky. Now, he makes a decision that changes the course of his life forever. "Zeus, I will destroy you! I will show the world the truth and set everyone against you! I will bring back the Titans to rule the Universe and bring about a new Golden Age! Zeus, Mark my Words!" Chapter 6 - Side Effects John saw lightning and heard booming thunder outside as he was seeing through the ceiling. He smiled. Zeus seemed to have felt the threat on a subconscious level at the very least. John turned his attention to the exit of this place. He looked for the door with his mind, spreading his consciousness across the room. At least, hethought that¡¯s what he was doing, but he wasn¡¯t sure. He wasn¡¯t sure about his newfound powers existing until a few minutes ago anyway. Regardless, John was able to feel a warping of space, for a lack of a better phrase, near one of the corners of the room, which went into the darkness. John tried to look through the darkness and see the exit, but he wasn''t able to. It seems that I can sometimes see through walls, but I can''t see in the dark?I don''t even know anymore...John thought. He started towards the direction of the warped space which he assumed was the way out, but remembered something. I forgot Rax was still here,He thought. "Rax! Come on, I found the exit!" John yelled. His voice echoed all around the dark room, but there was no answer. Just then, John realized that when he was looking for the exit using his new sensing power of sorts, he didn''t sense Rax.To be safe he reached out with his essence again, but to no avail. Rax was nowhere to be felt. Oh well, John thought,I tried. He probably already found the exit and left, and if he''s somehow still here, he''ll find his way out eventually. Using this logic, he made his way over to the warped space across the very large, dark, and slightly damp chamber without any hesitation. As he walked through this space, which John assumed was a portal, his surroundings shifted and he was momentarily blinded by the sun''s glare. After a minute, he looked around, and he was back in school outside the cafeteria which was now, surprisingly, locked; as if it hadn''t just been opened recently. Hundreds of students were bustling around and John was feeling very...different. Not because he had powers and these people didn''t, no, nothing like that. John was just purely overwhelmed by this sixth sense that he aqcuired, and he was able to sense every single one of these students, teachers, staff, and whoever or whatever else was among a radius of about thirty or so meters around him.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. John quickly sat down on a nearby unoccupied table and grabbed his head in his hands.Aaaarrrghh, this is the worst headache of my life!!! Goddamnit, even my brain can''t handle this sensory overload! I need a way to turn this off!he thought. It seemed that somehow, his consciousness spread out and resonated with all life forms and inanimate objects around him, and all of this... awareness of who or what was around him came rushing back into his brain as nervous signals. He didn''t know how much time passed as he shut out everything in order to deal with the pain, yet slowly but surely he was able to tone it down, like a lever with sensitivity levels. He did not get used to it or anything like that: he actually had to lower the sensory input to his brain, or John didn''t even know what would happen to him. At this point, when his sensitivity reached a certain level, he started paying just a little attention to his other senses. He felt tapping on his shoulder. "-cuse me...? John... are you ok? Hello? Can you hear me... ? Should I call the nurse?" he heard a voice to his right side, and by the time she finished speaking, he was relatively fine, at least comparing to what was happening to him before. John looked up and saw a brunette girl leaning next to him,one hand on the table and the other poking him. "Oh, hey Daisy," he said drowsily, "I was just taking a nap." "A nap? You, taking a nap?" she saidincredulously. "I''ve known you for eight years now and you havenever taken a nap! John, tell me what happened. Is something bothering you?" she asked. "No, nothing at all. Everything''s fine, Daisy. I''m just getting a bit worn out with all the work, that''s all. I''m thinking of dropping some of my activities," he said naturally, because this statement was actually one hundred percent true. He just wasn''t telling her the real reason he was "taking a nap". I can''t tell her what''s really going on.What if she tells someone else? She probably won''t if I explain it to her fully, but she still wouldn''t believe me. It''s not like I can really prove it yet. It''s not worth the risk.I can''t tell anyone. They''d think I''m crazy, and send me to a psych ward or asylum or some shit! No, I have to figure this out myself,John thought. He smiled at Daisy. Daisy looked relieved. "Oh, okay. I thought you were like dying or something!" she laughed. Just then, the ever annoying bell rang and Daisy got up. "Alright John. Tell me if you need anything, ok?" she said, walking away. "I''ll be sure to do that." John said, and he felt slightly guilty for lying to his childhood friend, but it dissappeared as soon as he thought of how much worse it could have been if he told her the truth. Chapter 7 - Loose Ends John stood up and just left the school. The sun was still in around the same position as when he went into the other "world", he could call it, so he assumed that the event that granted him powers and a new purpose in life actually didn''t take any time at all in this world. The thought was slightly humorous for him. He did have obligations and he remembered that he was supposed to go teach golf to the underclassmen, but he couldn''t bring himself to care much about such worldly affairs at the moment. The assistant captain can take over today anyway, not a big deal, he reasoned. Then he walked over to the 11-7 convenience store and bought a spicy chicken taco. He was quite hungry after this entire ordeal. As he was munching on the delicious taco and strolling back home, he had some time to think about what happened, and let the implications sink in. So these powers aren''t free, he thought, there are dangerous, or at least painful, sides affects. I wonder what else is going to happen to me, now that this Titanic Power is slowly adjusting to my mortal body. I have to prepare for as many possible side effects as I can. Also, I.... have supernatural powers gifted to me from a Titan. Ha! Even I wouldn''t believe it if I didn''t experience it, he thought grimly. No one can know about this until I can physically prove it- all I have to do is not tell anyone and I''ll be fine. John felt that there was something wrong with that logic, but he couldn''t put his finger on it. Not one to let these lapses in concentration go, John thought about any factors he may have forgotten to consider that may affect him somehow.... He jerked upright as he remembered this factor- Rax. Shit! There is a normal high schooler who got possessed and saw me in the other world, just wandering around and could have told multiple people by now! People might think he is crazy but it''s not worth the risk. I have to stop him somehow! John panicked and started storming around all over the town, looking for any sign of Rax, when he realized that he wasn''t thinking straight. One of his only powers was to sense people! Obviously he could find Rax with this. However, he couldn¡¯t forget the seemingly insurmountable pain it had caused him, and he knew that spreading his awareness in a dense area like this town is the last thing he would want to to.The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. There was a library down the block, and John always felt calm in libraries, so he went inside and sat on a table surrounded by mountains of books and shelves in order to think clearer. The library environment is just so peaceful, he thought whimsically, I forgot how nice it was in here. John started thinking about the matter at hand. He needed a way to... focus this power, so that it only looked for one person. He knew that he would recognize Rax¡¯s ¡°imprint¡± in his mind if he sensed him, so he tried to remember how it felt. He mentally brought himself back to a couple hours before when he first obtained his powers, and played out sensing Rax. As John did so, the feeling rushed back to him and he knew that he would be able to recognize Rax if he sensed him. Now John needed to find a way to ¡°tune out¡± everything other than Rax. However, try as he might, this is the supernatural, and John knew next to nothing but the history of the ancient universe when it came to these things. So John decided that it would be a waste of brainpower to come up with a reasonable solution to a problem he has no parameters for. Well, John thought, if reason isn¡¯t going to work, then I¡¯ll just have to try crazy! After all, desperate times call for desperate measures. John walked out to an alley behind the library, looked to a random direction, and shot his essence outward with his mind. No holding back. The pain hit him hard, and he dropped to the ground, but he had so much adrenaline pumping in his bloodstream right now that pain was just child¡¯s play. He turned a few degrees clockwise, and repeated the process. What he was doing was different from how he used this power so far. Instead of sensing everything around him for about thirty meters, he is just able to sense everything in the direction he is focused on, but much farther- about 600 meters ahead. Pain wasn¡¯t even a thing anymore. He kept trying steadily in all directions, without missing any, again, and again, and again. After what felt like hours to John but probably wasn¡¯t more than a couple seconds at most, he finally found what he was looking for- he recognized Rax¡¯ essence. John noted that this direction pointed to Ed¡¯s house. Well, that¡¯s convenient, John thought, weren¡¯t we supposed to play Starcraft later tonight? No, focus. I have to confront Rax...
