 Ch-1 Marias Arrival

    It was Dawn,a school car recieved Maria from the airport. She was brought straight to the school. In the school she was shocked as she was the only American student. She was further shocked when she was told that no money or smart-phones or any electronics could be kept with oneself. She was told that every weekend she would be given her laptop for her to access skype. Every arrangements had been made for her. She was shown her room. Eight people shared a single room. She met the other room mates who were very sleepy as it was four in the morning. It was too much for her to take it all in one gulp so she let everything be. Without unpacking her suitcase she bumped on to her matress and fell asleep in the state she was.


    Later in the morning she woke up. She had already made friends two of them were Neha and Arushi. After unpacking her luggage Maria went for breakfast. In the breakfast table Neha and Arushi told her how the school and the hostel ran. She realised that weekends and workdays have different routines. In the workdays the morning began with a short session of excercise and jogging. After that they had school from eight to three in the afternoon. Following another sports time and then prep. She realised the food was gross. The time difference caused her to be tired more than usual.     In her class everybody looked at her as if she was some ghost or maybe angel. It was not even a week when she started getting proposal from the boys in her class. The senior boys started to stroll at the corridor in front of her class. She felt it to be very wierd but she couldn''t help it. She was all in the air and the aura. She was the new "hot topic" in the boys hostel. She was also a good student. She had her name in the debate team and the tennis team. Another week passed and she was completely a "Emperial".

 Ch-2 Arjuns arrival

    The semesters were halfway. It was a month since the term had begun. In the afternoon all the students were in the field. The senior girls were in the park as the game teacher they were to practice was absent. A black Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500cc roared into the parking area just beside the park. There were two boys in the bike. The driver got down and took the bag the other person was holding from his hands. The other person rode back with the bike while Arjun walked towards the reception. Arjun wore a wrinkled shirt un-buttoned to his chest and a denim jeans. He had his sleeves folded to his elbows. He had groomed hair though. Holding the bag in his right hand he walked through the reception.


    Arjun always came late to the hostel after any vacations especially after term breaks. He didn''t like seeing new faces everytime some trying to act smart some getting bullied. Arjun didn''t even bring his parents in any PTM or any school funcions. He walked to the reception signed a late slip and went into the boys hostel. In his room he threw his stuff which was a small handpag with a few pair of clothes and his daily accesories. His room and his room mates were like a family of eight brothers. They were all crime partners.     Arjun went in his room and found everyone sleeping, they were all bunking the games. Arjun swithced all the lights on and shouted "kutto, baap aya hai!". "Rascals, daddy''s here!"

 Ch-3 The First impression

    Arjun was not very famous and not very handsome that girls went crazy over him. Infact he didn''t speak much to any girls and so he went un-noticed, nor he spoke much of girls and nor the girls paid any heat to him. Yesterday when Maria was in the park with the rest of the girls she noticed the boy riding the bike. His messed up look and the sprouting nerves on his arm and his muscle lines over his shirt was quite attractive for Maria. Her gaze followed Arjun till he walked into the reception. In the dining table in the evening she resisted herself to ask about Arjun to Neha and Arushi but she realised that he was sitting right behind her with his friends. She guessed that he was a year junior as he sat with boys from the lower grade that was class ten. She didn''t know why she felt awkward and how much she wanted the night to end.


    Arjun was back to his den. Every night Arjun was the last person to fall asleep. That would often be very late in the night or very early in the morning. Often when all of his friends would sleep and he couldn''t he went to the terrace. He had the guards under control as he gave them money as bribe. He would sit on a railing on the terrace swinging his legs over the fifth floor. He hid liqour within his room and would drink very often over here. This was his spot.     Sitting there holding a glass of liqour and a lit up cigarette he would think. He had various thoughts of his life and his past. But that day he had one more thought. He had heard the eleventhers shouting Maria so he guessed Maria was her name. When he came walking from the park he noiced her looking at him but then he thought himself to be very stupid. He came to know she was from America as Maria Smith was a big topic of discussion in the boys hostel. Then he again thought that she looked at him in the cafeteria and he felt like he saw her looking and just when their eyes met she reverted and turned back suddenly. He again slapped his head and he thought himself to be an even bigger stupid. He realised he was smiling. She was beautiful. He had had realised her hair curling at the end with a fine brownish sade. He couldn''t resist looing at her fine curves and her hips. He slapped his head again and said "Angels sometimes come to the earth, dogs never fly!".

 Ch-4 The next day

    Arushi had a younger brother Rony. He was in the same class as Arjun and a very good friend of him too. It was a Monday and Maria Neha and Arushi walked to the cafeteria for lunch when they saw a crowd gathered over in front of the dining. They ran in to see what was happening. Peter a boy from Maria''s class held onto the collar of Rony and threw him back at the other side. There were few other boys all classmates of Peter and there was Rony.


    "Stop it Peter!" Arushi screamed and ran towards her brother. Peter in anger splashed out "Stay out of it Arushi, He is flying too much these days,I''ll hit him today" and Peter kept on repeating "I''ll hit him today." Maria looked at the whole sight and didn''t know what to do she was so confused. Just then Akash from behind peter whispered to Peter "Bro! Arjun" pointing at the front with his finger. Everyone turned back even Maria. A boy pushing everyone out of the crowd enetered the circle. The face was quite familiar to Maria. It was Arjun. Arjun walked to Rony and gave him a hand. Rony held his hand pushed himself up and Arjun holding him walked to get out of the crowd. Peter held his shoulders.

    "He has my money which he needs to return." Peter putting his hands inside his pockets.


    "How much?" was all Arjun asked.


    "Twenty thousand" Peter replied. Arjun took his money bag out and from it took out a bundle of two thousand rupee notes and just threw onto peter on his face and turned back to leave. Peter and his fellas shouted and Arjun turned "Hmmm" he looked at Peter and shook his head as if saying "What".


    Before Peter could say anything. Arjun cleched his fists and pushed Peter. Walking front and pushing peter he spoke " You angry, You''ll hit me today, You want a fight right here in this place, hun!" Everybody was quite. Rony was laughing. Arjun turned to Rony gesturing look at "the scared firefighter" and swinging his head pointing to Peter. Just then he looked past Rony. He satarted to sweat and he bit his lip. He went over to Rony and holding him by the neck he ran off. He saw Maria staring at him. This time right into his eyes. He didn''t want her to see him like this. No matter what others think about him he did not want this one girl to think that "He is a freak"


    In the evening in the dining. Neha and Arushi spoke about the incident and Arushi said "Don''t you think Rony should stay away from this Arjun." Maria looked at her and blurted "The guys a freak."

 Ch-5 I DONT LIKE HIM!

    Maria noticed that Arjun always bunked the morning sports. She noticed him bunking meals and then she realised that every boy in her class as well as the juniors was familiar with the name "Arjun" and he was feared. Though she never spoke his name and never did he ask about him to any one. She felt miserable always when she noticed these things and her brain would always say "why are you so interested?".


    They were eating. Arushi had come to sit with her brother so Neha and Maria followed. They were all sitting and having breakfast when Arjun walked out of the hostel. He looked shabby as if he had just woken up. He came to the window and shouted to Rony "Phone kidhar hai mera behen..." (Where''s my phone sister.....). He cut himself when he saw Arushi sitting right in front of him. Rony looked at him with a "are you crazy" expression, predicting what he was about to say. Rony took a matt black metal piece and handed over to Arjun through the metal grills. Arjun took the phone and turned to leave. Rony then called to him saying " Bhai! khayega nahi?"     "Nah" saying Arjun ran back into the hostel. When Arjun left Arushi stomped the table with her hand splurting " He is abusing your sister and you are asking him if you will have meals."     " He is a hell of a freak. What does he think of himself. What does this man want to show even. His got muscles but that doesn''t mean he will fight and beat everyone around. And why is everyone even afraid of him what is he a gangster and you people are his gang members. That rude attitude to everybody. Why is he even here if he doesn''t want to stay here. What proves when he skips meals and bunks all and everything, He''s one freak and a jerk."


    When Maria rattled off Rony wanted to correct him but then he leaned back and smiled at Maria. Maria looked at the front and her coffee when she spoke little did she know that all of them was staring at her with a smile on their lips. Maria looked at them and only then did she realise "Oh shit!". Neha mocking Maria started speaking smiling "Yeah people shouldn''t do like this, this is bad". Maria understood this. Rony was startled and he was smiling and he understood it was his time to leave. Just as Rony left Arushi spit out "You like him!". "No I don''t" "No..nno.nnnnnno" "I don''t I was just saying.... No I don''t like him". Maria looked at the both of them they both looked at her smiling and they said in chorus "We''ve heard that!". Maria tried very hard but couln''t stop a smile coming to her face. "I DON''T LIKE HIM!" She said.

 ch-6 Friends!

    Maria knew by now everybody would be singing "Maria like''s Arjun" but to her suprise no body knew so apparently Rony hadn''t said a word to anybody. Though she was sure he would say Arjun. She was right at this and she decided to confront him.


    It was a saturday and Maria was down before anybody. She wanted to clear everything once and for all. Everybody came down and the breakfast was served but Arjun didn''t show up. For the rest of the day, lunch snacks nothing. Arjun never came down. She started to get frustrated now. It was in the evening when the warden chased him down he had to come down. It was a fun time sports the music was played and the students could dance senior students were however always shy and were always stiff. Just when Maria was approaching them, Arjun pulled Rony and they disappeared. They were nowhere to be seen yet again. Maria said to herself "Let this be!".


    Neha came up with the idea of walking around the campus. They started to walk on the school premises. Just when they walked towards the swimming pool they heard the sound of splashes of water. When they reached the gate they found Rony sitting with dipped feet in the water and Arjun was Swimming. They were speaking of something in Hindi. When Arushi was about to shout concerned of her brother Maria sttoped her and told "Translate for me what they are saying". When Arushi started Translating Maria guessed right they were speaking of her.


    Rony: "Brother I think she likes you, she blushed trust me."


    Arjun: "Even your Mother smiled when she spoke to me. You think even she had what do call that in english "crush" on me.


    Rony: "Fucker I am not joking"


    Arjun: "Good good with this girl you''ve got a good chance to pull my leg. Pull Pull nicely."


    Rony: "She is a good girl what''s your problem", Arjun stopped swimming


    Arjun: " She is too good, Look at her and then look at me. What are you comparing. She''s beautiful she''s go..she''s ni... she''s.... understand dude!" Arjun cut himself and Rony was smiling at him. Even Arushi and Neha were smiling and even Maria was smiling. Just then Arjun noticed the shadows. In a moment the sound of the splashes stopped. When Arushi looked inside through the gate they were gone even Arjun''s clothes that were hanging on the railing were gone. "They are gone" whispered Arushi "What! Where?" Neha was starteld and the three of them looked inside through the grills. From the back a voice came "What do guys think you are looking at?" It was Rony.     "How.. when.. you people were there just now. When did you come here?" Arushi said.


    "What are you people even doing here?" pushed Rony


    "We can ask you the same question?" Came his big sister''s concerned reply and the regular sibling quarrel began. Neha stood there looking at Arjun and Maria who were now looking straight into each others eyes. Arjun was time and again looking down and up and to his left and his right and finally manahged to squeak out few words from his mouth "R...Rony". Rony could not hear him the first time as he was busy fighting over justice of freedom with his sister. Rony was now standing behind Maria. After several tries of Arjun of getting Rony''s attention Neha shouted "Rony!" all eyes went to her" "Arjun is calling you" she said softly creating a mockery of Arjun. Arjun looked at him and pointed to his hand. Rony was holding Arjun''s shirt. Arjun took the shirt and turned backa and started to walk away wearing the shirt. When he heard a voice.


    "Umm.. Arjun can I talk to you for a minute?" Arjun didn''t know how to respond. He was blank and he nodded swinging his head up and down and stumbling over " Ye...yesssss". Maria walked up to Arjun and they walked side to side talking to each other.


    "Hi, My name is Maria Smith though i am sure you know this by now" she started


    Arjun seemed lost as if she was speaking "Hebrewish" language when she looked at him he replied quickly "Yeah, yeah I know". Stumbling a little.


    "You may have heard some other things about me.." she continued


    "That you''re beautiful" Arjun cut her, He was not looking at her even he looked down as he spoke. This time he didn''t stumble.


    "Sorry" She said looking at her


    "Huh! what what happened?" Arjun was surprised as if he didn''t know what he had just said.


    "I''m sorry but are you even hearing what I am saying?" She confirmed


    "I think I am" Arjun said


    "Then are you hearing what you are saying" She pushed further


    "I am really sorry I don''t know what I am sating and I don''t know if you understood what I said in The pool but belive me I didn''t say anything wrong. Rony told me things which I was just making him understand that he had got everything wrong..." He continued. Maria noticed his english was fluent too. He didn''t fake accents like some people always did around her. She couldn''t stop but smile at Arjun who was now as if in immense trouble.


    "Thanks anyway..." She cut him smiling and then "I believe we can be friends then!" and she held her hand forward. Arjun shook her hand and after a severe time of ultimate pain he smiled as if he was relieved. Maria turned to go the dining but Arjun kept walking forwards. Maria understood he was going back to his hostel.


    "Hey you won''t eat" Maria asked


    "Nah! I''ll just go up for now" he replied


    "What did you even eat the whole day. I didn''t see you down almost the whole day."


    "I''ve got food upstairs" he said and then stopped and then he spoke "I think I should havedinner anyways I''m very hungry." He said.


    Later on Neha Arushi and Rony joined Maria and Arjun and they sat together at the same table having dinner. Both sides Rony and Arushi and Neha saw How unusual Maria and Arjun behaved.

 Ch-7 The next day

    It was raining. Everybody ran inside the cafeteria from the sports complex. Maria remebered she had forgotten her wrist watch back in the badminton court. She ran back getting drenched with the rain drops that were becoming heavy with every second. She ran and got her watch lying in the table. She took the watch and when she prepared to run back she heard a sound. She followed the sound and she was led to the gym. In the gym when she looked from the transparent no one was visible. She entered the gym as the sound was too loud to be ignored. When she entered she saw Arjun shirtless and punching a punching bag with his full force. Arjun''s groan as he puched was enough to scare away people. His chest was drippig of sweat. His abs were finely separated with absolute perfection. Time and again his triceps were pulling in pushing his biceps out of his arms. His hands had a stream of nerves streching right till his shoulders.


    What Maria saw in him was much more. She saw pain, she saw a helpless Arjun punching his life out on every blow of his fists. As the sound of the rain falling over the roof grew louder the harder Arjun landed his punches. She was speechless. She didn''t know what to say. She stood there looking at a man seemingly so friendly yet so lonely. A man laughing all day yet holding the deepest of sorrow.


    It took some time for Arjun to notice that Maria was standing and looking at him. He stopped at the moment he saw Maria. Maria was startled as their eyes met. "Umm, sorry just came hearing the sound, Are you okay.... I mean... fine...uh.... sorry..." and she hesitated with her words and turned to leave. She walked out of the sports complex and she couldn''t stop thinking about Arjun. She turned back to see if Arjun had come out. Arjun was nowhere to be seen. She couldn''t help but to go and check if he was okay. She wondered why did she even care. She went back and the sound had stopped she thought he would be leaving now but he was nowhere. She went in and she found no one. It was when she looked at the floor she found Arjun lying Uncncious. She freaked out. There was no one in the complex at the time.     She went close to Arjun and picked his arm and put it across her shoulder and then she pulled him up. He was heavy. She tried but she couldn''t carry him. She instead brought a glass of water and splashed it over him. He woke up. When Arjun woke up he realised his head rested on Maria''a lap. He could see her face above him. She had worn shorts for sports and he was lying on her bare thighs. her sleveless and thin t shirt exposed her lining of her breasts which were now just a few ft above his nose. She was caressing his forehead as she hadn''t yet realised that he was awake. Arjun woke up.


    Arjun''s face was red. He sat leaning on a wall. He kept his gaze to Maria. Maria was relieved as she was really scared looking at Arjun whlie he fainted. "Are you fine now?" she asked


    "Yeah, Thank you and....." He trailed off.


    "Don''t stress yourslef so much." she said concerned.


    "Aap apna rasta bhul gaye ho yeh galat jaga hai, aapko idhar nahi hona chaiye" He said looking at her. She didn''t get a word he said but she seemed to understand him. She held his hands and smiled. Arjun''s eyes were red but he held his tears back. She pulled his hand and smiled she held him close and put his arm across her shoulders and said "It''s okay!". She held him and they walked out of the complex. It was still raining but it didn''t matter. They walked and then Arjun pulled his hand back and they separated. "I''ll go there" and walked straight. He wasn'' rude but he was running away maybe hiding a tear. Maria understood this and she didn''t force on going on with him though he was finding it difficult to walk.


    That evening Rony approached Maria and spoke on behalf of Arjun. Rony said "Hey, he said sorry for all the trouble, he was just not feeling good and he''s fine now and he is really sorry".


    "Where is he? You said he is fine now."Maria asked casually.


    "No he ..." Rony started when Maria cut him off.


    "Tell him it''s fine and i knew he wasn''t going to come down and he can talk to me I''m not a ghost" Maria said laughing.


    "Moreover a godess" Rony smiled and replied. "What!" She snapped back though she knew exactly what he meant she had eavesdropped them in the swimming pool earlier.


    "I know he was really sad or angry or whatever tell him it''s fine and I''m no ghost nor a godess" Maria went on not pushing the conversation any further. She walked away into the cafeteria.
