Welcome to Medieval Monstrosities Online Joseph. Congratulations on being one of the very first adventurers to dive into this brand new world. You have our condolences at your untimely demise but we wish you luck on your new adventures.
¡°Crap, I feel like shit. What happened?¡± God what did I try this time. It¡¯s even worse than the day I drank the batch of bad liquor and had a bowl of Berny¡¯s mystery meat soup, not that it was a mystery everyone knew it had a little bit of everything mainly rat, dog, and cat. Thinking back, I vaguely recall an explosion, then the roaring boom that accompanied it, and finally searing pain.
Does that mean I¡¯m dead? If the blast didn¡¯t kill me the radiation surely did. I must be in one of the various virtual reality worlds. God, I never expected this. I mean I¡¯d always known what would happen if I died. Hell, I even signed up for some new medieval fantasy one but still you never really believe it¡¯s gonna happen.
As I sunk into a downward spiral of depression my training kicked in and I started to observe my surroundings. I was surrounded by what appeared to be some kind of whitish rock, couldn¡¯t tell you for the life of me I was never a rock guy. The only rocks I knew were diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, and oh yeah what was that blue one sapphires. Besides the rock I appeared to be in a room bare room roughly ten feet across with only some kind of statue over in the one corner and a single hallway leading out.
Now for the important part how bad do I look? Did I pick some crazy race or weird creature too play as, I¡¯d always treated these things as a joke? It helped to keep your mind off all the what ifs. Would I really still be the same person? Am I just a string of numbers, a remnant of the person I used to be? Is this the real me or am I the body out in the real world blown to bits? Is heaven real? Did I just damn my soul?
After what seemed like hours but was probably minutes I came back to myself and looked down at myself or tried to at least. Below me was a tone pillar. I gulped this isn¡¯t looking good. Turning my vision inwards, a new phenomenon I had just discovered I could do I saw myself, a shining pink multifaceted gem. Well fuck, I don¡¯t think I¡¯m gonna get laid like this. What else is there oh there seems to be a flashing message icon.
¡°Oh, this doesn¡¯t look good.¡± Opening up the flashing mail icon in front of me I glanced through the message log and saw the long string of errors. All those errors are definitely not good for me, when it says dungeon it can¡¯t possibly mean what I think it does, can it?
That¡¯s when I notice how everything seems tinted by a pinkish film. I really was pink rock barely the size of my fist. Shit this couldn¡¯t possibly get any worse. Or wait could it? The message log said my data had been corrupted, did that mean I wouldn¡¯t respawn like all the other travelers? Still there was one thing that got me.
¡°I mean come on, I can get being a dungeon core but why does it have to be pink?¡± It was bad enough being a dungeon but why did it have to be pink? Have you ever heard of the scary pink dungeon? No of course you haven¡¯t because it doesn¡¯t exist.¡± Ranting as a way of trying to relieve some stress over everything that had happened in what seemed like the last few minutes. Still slowly I started the long process of accepting my new reality. It wasn¡¯t like I had much of a choice if I wanted to keep on living.

¡°So, let¡¯s see what I have here.¡± Looking around I noticed if I flexed my metaphorical muscles I could spread my awareness by expending bursts of what I can guess was mana. I¡¯m great at flexing my muscles so I soon got the hang of this. After a while I had tinted everything with a pinkish glow, oddly the glow seemed brightest on the ceiling and got dimmer towards the floor but whatever. After some observation I realized that my dungeon consisted of three small rooms probably 10 by 10 feet square connected by a series of short tunnels. The only strange thing was the statue which appeared to be some kind of altar but to a deity I didn¡¯t recognize, not surprising really, I was never one of the religious types. Most of them chose to ignore the possibility of a virtual afterlife and put faith in their gods.
The altar if that was really what it was, was a white stone carving of a heart with wings encrusted with pinkish gemstones. The gems appeared similar to how my core looked but smaller and obviously not sentient, I tried but they didn¡¯t respond and after a couple of minutes I felt like a fool for trying to talk to a rock. Still I was a rock or a dungeon core at least. I wonder if I can absorb it? Much as it feels a little like rocky cannibalism I tried it. As I reached out with my mana toward it another one of those screens popped up.Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

¡°So, this is why I¡¯m pink!¡± Damn gods meddling in everything. Even dying can¡¯t stop those guys and their followers from trying to but their heads into everything. Huu, breathe in and out. Oh wait, I can¡¯t breathe because I don¡¯t have lungs. No don¡¯t panic, I¡¯m sure there is something good about all this. I guess one good thing came is I only need to spend have the points to get my first monsters. Yah, that means I can create twice as many monsters. After I¡¯d calmed down I spread my awareness to the other rooms and realized that all I had was a few clumps of green moss that was slowly turning pink. First off, I tried changing the color of my dungeon but all it did was go from varying shades of light pink to a darker pink. I settled on one of the various color schemes. My core would be a dark almost reddish pink that lightened to a pale almost white shade of pink as it got closer to the entrance.
Now what else could I do? Not much it turned out without monsters. After giving the altar, an evolution point I waited for my new monsters, then waited some more and just as I turned away from it a bright flash appeared, pink of course, and two things were on the altar. Or well one was on the altar and the other was hovering in the air above it.
¡°Really, a dove?¡± How am I supposed to make a killer dungeon with this? Let¡¯s me see what kind of monster can I make from a dove and an apple. Maybe a scary tweety bird monster how horrific or a man eating apple tree. That last idea sounds kind of cool actually.
I spent an evolution point on the apple to get its natural evolution. Apparently, I could use my evolution points for four things. Firstly, they could be spent to summon a random low level monster, which turned out to be regular animals and plants. I could use a point to have a creature in my dungeon evolve following its natural evolution pathway. Apparently natural evolution is affected by a variety of factors including its age, class, and the environment it lives in. The third use was a variation of the second, I could spend more points than normal to have a creature evolve in a direction I wanted it to. Lastly, I could spend points on giving my monsters various classes. Apparently in this particular fantasy world creatures got stronger by leveling their classes and everything could have a maximum of three classes.
My apple monster well let¡¯s just say it didn¡¯t happen. It sprouted and grew into a large tree that spanned the entirety of my core room, hell it even grew apples but it didn¡¯t grow a mouth or a bunch of sharp teeth. No, the bark took on a pinkish hue and the apples started giving off an alluring smell. You ask how I can smell? I have no fuckin idea.
Well natural evolution isn¡¯t very helpful. Next time I¡¯ll have to do a directed evolution. Now I just need to think of something that is really badass and cool, oh and somehow related to birds. I got it nothing is more badass than a dragon, everyone would be jealous if I became a dragon dungeon.
So, let¡¯s see how I can make the connection between dragons and birds. Doesn¡¯t really seem possible but I have a vague feeling it depends more about how I perceive things than it really is, magic can make almost anything possible after all. Now I just need to find the link between the two. Dinosaurs that¡¯s it, birds are supposedly distantly related to dinosaurs and a dragon is basically a giant winged type of dinosaur.
Unfortunately, though that wasn¡¯t a strong enough connection to make use of evolution points even if I could use however many I needed. So, let¡¯s take a step back what is something else like a dragon and a bird? I got it, wyverns. All of a sudden it popped up as an evolution pathway for my monsters but the cost was still to high at 9 evolution points still this was progress.
After a couple tweaks I ended up replacing the scales with a bird¡¯s feathers, it would drastically cut down on a creature¡¯s defensive power but I had some ideas to counteract that. Now my feathered wyvern evolution path was only 5 points. Too further lower the cost I made the body more of a hybrid of bird and wyvern, it dropped to 4.5. In a rush to lower the cost further I tried to think of all the things I could change. I the end I chose to go with a purely bird like pair of legs which dropped the cost to 3.8. Lastly to get it back up to a whole number so I didn¡¯t lose anything when I purchased it I modified the feathers to be harder, almost metallic or scale like. The birds now gleamed in a myriad of reds, pinks, silvers, and white.
For a cost of 4 evolution points I now had my new evolution pathway, bird wyverns. It cost me a single point to evolve the doves along the bird wyvern evolutionary path now that I had a template for it. From this day forth the dove wyverns were born.
I got a screen describing them. Apparently, the system recognized them as an unusual branch of the bird family that was born from the mating of doves and pygmy wyverns, the smallest of the wyverns. The best part about everything was I got an evolution point for creating and evolving my first bird wyvern. It turns out the creation of a new species could give you points, though I had a feeling this world had countless species so it wouldn¡¯t be so easy next time.
Now that I had one monster it was time to create an army. Right now, I had no way to spawn a second dove so I couldn¡¯t have the two of them start breeding up an army. I needed some kind of monster lair or something that could spawn my new army of monsters. After a bit of looking through the options I found what I was looking for.
|
Dove¡¯s Nest (Lair):
1 Evolution Point
A dove monsters lair it will continuously spawn more of any creature with the dove racial class or one of its rank ups.
Size: 5 Nests (doves lay 2 eggs each time)
Spawn Rate: 5 times normal (normal time: 30 days; 15 days to hatch, 15 days to become a juvenile) (Dungeon natural rate: 20 times)
10 level 1 dove monsters will be born every 7 hours and 12 minutes
Upgrades:
¡¤ Size: double nest size (10 nests), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Spawn Rate: double spawn rate (10 times), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Level: improve all spawns to level 2, 1 evolution point
|
In the end I went with the basic lair which only cost a single point. After spawning it I learned that a new dove¡¯s nest would automatically spawn on every floor I made which made me feel better about the purchase. Now I just had to wait and soon my dungeon would be full of dove wyverns. Level 1 dove wyverns but still they have wyvern in their name.
I put the dove nest in the middle room. Not too close to the entrance or my core. From there the doves slowly spread out across my dungeon and into my three rooms. I¡¯d wanted to keep them out of the core room but doves don¡¯t really eat moss and the only real food in the dungeon was the lover¡¯s apples on the tree in my core. Over the course of the day I came to realize that while monsters don¡¯t need to consume food in my dungeon they will grow much faster if they do.
My first bird, the one that came with the summoning had already eaten two of my apples and as it started pecking at a third it suddenly grew slightly bigger. Not much but now it was just a hair bigger than the rest. It had reached level 2. Soon I would have an army of doves to challenge the world, waah haha. No, the evil laugh thing just doesn¡¯t do it for me.
Chapter 2: Bunny Troubles and Altar Woes
Chapter 2: Bunny Troubles and Altar Woes
¡°They swarmed me like a plague, overrunning the entire dungeon. They buried me with a myriad of corpses.¡± Okay, okay not really but these things really are like a plague, even worse than adventurers. It started with one little rabbit coming in and nibbling on the moss but then all of a sudden it was like it was injected with jet fuel it shot off like a rocket. I was in the middle of modifying the bird wyvern evolution path at the time and I couldn¡¯t be bothered to care about one little bunny. Not to mention that at the time all I had was a single dove and an apple tree; the bunny would have probably one if they fought. Still I thought I was done with them but now as soon as the first rays of sunlight started to light up the entrance of the dungeon a literal swarm of them burst through the entrance and into well me I guess.
They swarmed the moss sheets which I had been slowly nurturing into a carpet across the dungeon floor, it was like they were on cloud nine. Apparently, the moss is like an aphrodisiac to them so I quickly had a giant rabbit orgy happening right at the entrance to the dungeon. This is so humiliating, the first creature to come into my dungeon and what does it do? Does it attack my monsters or come for my core? No, it eats a bunch of moss and starts to have sex all over me. Sending my flock of doves, by now I have 21 of them and 3 have already reached level 2.
The rabbits didn¡¯t even notice the attacks not that it would have mattered since they did almost no damage. I¡¯d almost given up on stopping the horde of bunnies when I realized that maybe I could contract these as new monsters and have something besides the dove wyverns. Sure, they were rabbits but for now they were stronger than my birds and in a new dungeon¡¯s book any monster is a good monster, well except for undead. Spawning undead is how you get walked by the crazy fanatics.
|
Monster Contract initiated with level 4 rabbit and the bunny horde by the Dungeon Core Joseph.
|
After I felt the connection snap into place I sent the bunny pictures of lots of moss and happy bunnies. It seemed like it hardly thought about it when another message popped up.
|
Monster Contract successful. The level 4 rabbit accepted on his behalf and that of the bunny horde.
¡¤ Level 4 rabbit becomes a dungeon monster
¡¤ 12 level 3 rabbits become dungeon monsters
¡¤ 37 level 2 rabbits have become dungeon monsters
|
All of a sudden, I felt filled with energy. I was a lot more powerful than before. Apparently, me and my monsters formed a kind of symbiotic relationship. While they could survive and grow stronger off my mana; I benefited from there protection and could apparently get stronger by contracting more powerful monsters. That was something to consider for the future. It might be better to contract a strong monster instead of killing it for the momentary rush of power.
After the rush of power, I built three more rooms and expanded the size of my first two rooms. In doing so I learned something about my core room prevented me from making it bigger or permanently stationing a monster there. It was fine for a monster to wander into it in search of food or something but it would always leave after a few minutes.
With the restructuring of the dungeon the dove¡¯s nest got moved to the fourth room and I decided to build a lair for the rabbits in the third room. For now, I had tons of them but if an adventurer came in they could wipe them all out in minutes and leave me with no rabbits.
|
Rabbit¡¯s Den (Lair):The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
1 evolution point
A rabbit monsters lair it will continuously spawn more of any creature with the rabbit racial class or one of its rank ups.
Size: 4 burrows (with the blessing of love rabbits have 10 kits each time)
Spawn Rate: 5 times normal (normal time: 30 days for gestation, 60 days to grow up) (Dungeon natural rate: 20 times)
40 level 1 rabbit monsters will be born every 21 hours and 36 minutes
Upgrades:
¡¤ Size: double nest size (8 nests), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Spawn Rate: double spawn rate (10 times), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Level: improve all spawns to level 2, 1 evolution point
|
So, it takes longer to get a batch of rabbits but I get more of them. In the time it takes to have a batch of rabbits I can get 40 rabbits and only 30 doves. Still with the two of these lairs always active it should ensure I hardly if ever run out of monsters, unless of course I get swarmed with a ton of adventures. Maybe I should upgrade. No, I already decided earlier I was going to try for new monsters on the altar one more time before I did anything else.
As much as I feel kind of leery about using the altar I decided to gamble on it. If I gamble on it I can get a basically two for one deal. Hopefully one of the two can become a real monster. Plus, it can¡¯t be much worse than doves or apples can it? I was half right in the end, they weren¡¯t worse than the previous items but they weren¡¯t much better either.
I got a regal looking white swan and a red rose from the altar. Part of me wanted to cry at my luck. Flowers, doves, swans, bunnies, what is next a ¡ No never say those words, don¡¯t even think them! If you don¡¯t speak it, it won¡¯t happen. Still I guess I can fit the swans into my bird evolution scheme. After spending an evolution points to evolve the swan into along the bird wyvern path, I ended up with my boss monster a red swan wyvern. It was even a cool color; swan wyverns were definitely my best creation yet.
Still after everything that had happened I knew I couldn¡¯t let anything go to waste so I went to pick up the rose from the altar. That¡¯s when I saw the rose had slid to the ground and the altar was drastically different. As I looked to the altar I noticed it had drastically changed.
Where before the altar was more of a simple stone cross with a few pink gemstones now it looked like a regal statue or totem o some kind out of white marble and adorned with a massive gemstone. At the top of the altar was a grapefruit sized pink gemstone in the shape of an apple. On the right side a white swan rose up out of the ground and cradled the gem with it¡¯s neck curved like half a heart. On the left a stone dove looking like it had just landed on a pretty rose completed the statue. All in all, it was stunning and much better looking than before. At least there wasn¡¯t a rabbit I thought but then I saw it hidden behind the rosebush just barely visible.
A new trait had also been added to the altar which had me considering a couple of things, but other than that the status page was the same. Still I could think of a lot of ways where people could get into some awkward situations with this skill.
|
Love¡¯s Aura: All creatures that engage in sexual activity inside the dungeon have at least a 50% chance of pregnancy, contraceptives are ineffective. This even affects creatures that are normally unable to get pregnant without fulfilling special conditions at a reduced rate, they have a 25% chance of getting pregnant. This buff affects all monsters, humanoids, plants, slimes, and some undead.
|
So, from what I could gather this meant that anyone even travelers who had sex in the dungeon was affected by this. Wow some people could get in trouble with this. All the players around here are gonna be in trouble, if they try and get it on around me. That gives me an idea, I have a feeling that pretty soon I¡¯ll be able to create challenge rooms and if I have challenge room¡ Haa this is gonna be so fun.
Still now I got to figure out what to do with my last creation. In the end I planted the rose in one of my rooms. I¡¯d realized I could speed up its growth with a little mana and soon it was large enough for me to take a few cuttings from. Soon I had those cuttings planted and within a couple hours my dungeon was looking pretty good if I do say so myself.
It was all white stone with a carpet of pink. The walls were adorned with the green and red of the roses and everything had a faint pink shimmer to it. Now if I was a little girl this place would be heave. I¡¯m not a little girl though I¡¯m a grown man. Someday I will turn this dragon into a dragon filled nightmare and not this, a little girls happy place with bunnies and pretty little birds running around everywhere. I swear on my core that one day everyone shall know of me, Joseph the Dragon Dungeon.
Chapter 3: The First Human
Chapter 3: The First Human
A little after midnight but still before the first rays of dawn peaked over the horizon my first spawned rabbit came out of the den, followed by the second, the third, and it just kept going until forty white rabbits were all lined up outside the nest. For some reason they were all white instead of the brownish color of my contracted rabbits but it must be something to do with my dungeons influence on them.
As I was admiring my first set of rabbits I got a notice that caught my attention. Apparently the first of my monsters had reached level 5, one of the first requirements of getting a second floor. So off I went in search of my strongest monster. I found it right away it was pretty hard to miss. I mean how many people can overlook a pink rabbit?
Maybe it¡¯s a type of camouflage skill, it doesn¡¯t necessarily have to be pink. After a while I had confirmed it really was pink and not just changing its color. The rabbit it was apparently the original one I made the contract with was still a level 4 rabbit though which puzzled me so I tried to see its status.

Wow it has a lot of agility, perception too. Not much else though besides charisma. My bunny is definitely a glass cannon. Still this servant of love seems like kind of a priest class but it gives a bit to endurance and dexterity too. So, it is just a weird class, guess I should have assumed that everything in the dungeon ends up odd and not just the stuff I summon from the altar. I wonder how many classes a creature can have?
|
Every creature may have up to three classes.
Monsters typically have a racial class and two others. Most sentients and humanoid creatures lack a racial class and have the option to choose each of their classes themselves. However, they also have an armor penalty; each point of endurance only gives them ? armor instead of 1.
Classes and skills come in various rarities.
Common> Uncommon> Rare> Epic> Mythic> Legendary>???
***
Classes can only change rarity when a rank up happens, the first of which occurs at level 10.
Classes typically stay the same rarity in a rank up.
Classes can only improve or regress in rarity by one grade in a rank up.
|
So that is something to consider, people can probably easily get a common class but if they do they stand a chance of never being able to attain a higher class. It was better to hold off and wait for an uncommon or rare class. With that in mind I ordered my monsters to only accept a second class if it was of uncommon or higher rarity.
In the end while it was my only creature with an uncommon class I left the rabbit alone. It was my strongest monster but there was no way it was gonna be my boss. Still by the end of the day I had accomplished my goal and leveled the red swan wyvern up to level 5. I might have helped it out a little by feeding it a dove and a rabbit or two, it also started a monopoly on my apples.
With the boss deal now settled I directed my mana downwards and started pushing. At first it was like I was trying to break through a rock wall but slowly I chipped it away and wore it down and with a surge my domain expanded to over double what it was.
Shit, I grabbed my metaphorical head in pain. There is just too much information, too many sensations, too much of everything. After a while I got used to it and was able to look around again. Now I knew why all the dungeons were controlled by AI¡¯s. The first thing I noticed was the blue screen.
|
Dungeon Level 2
You have birthed your second floor and crossed the first of many milestones in dungeon growth. As a true dungeon you now have access to the local AI network through which you can communicate with other nearby dungeons and spiritual entities. You have also unlocked the help feature should any errors occur.
+10 Evolution Points
|
Finally, I can send out a help ticket to the devs. I¡¯m not really complaining about being a dungeon. Besides the weird love connection, it¡¯s really cool but eventually I¡¯m going to want to be human again and there is the issue of what will happen if my core is destroyed.
The connection to the local AI network was a really interesting possibility to explore. Apparently, I can send and trade information with other nearby dungeons with it and also use it to contract a few of the spiritual entities for my dungeon.
However, a distinct nagging sensation in the back of my head, well metaphorical head, caught my attention. It was like when you know there was something that you were forgetting but couldn¡¯t remember what it was. Looking to the front of my dungeon I saw what was bugging me. A human had just walked into my dungeon. I had been discovered.
Damn are you fucking kidding me? What the hell is this? What happened to giving everyone a fighting chance? The human if you could call this beast, this terror of a creature one had over 46 total levels spread across his three classes. He was a level 19 ranger, a level 15 guard, and a level 12 bow maker. Sure, bow maker was the only uncommon class but still, this guy could probably kill every monster blindfolded and with both hands tied behind his back.
Luckily after poking around in the first room which only held rabbits currently he left. Still he didn¡¯t leave empty handed but with a lucky rabbit foot and a clump of my pink moss. The arrow he let loose literally exploded the poor white level 2 bunny when it hit it.
Still I¡¯m not going down without a fight. Using my new cache of evolution points I forced one of my roses into a natural evolution, this time I used two instead of the normal one because I had apparently unlocked an uncommon evolution. Apparently, the new plant was called a rose creeper.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
Rose creepers are a kind of semi sentient plant. The stems get longer, the thorns sharper, and the rose spreads out more. When anything comes near them the rose creeper will entangle them and slowly strangle them with its thorny vine like limbs. Now each room has one or two of them in it, no more rabbits eating my roses. Well admittedly with how high their intelligences are they still eat the normal roses and most are too stupid to avoid the rose creeper ending up as food for the hungry plants. Still there is a reason people use the expression breed like rabbits.
The best thing about the rose creepers though was I could still accelerate their growth with mana so I switched out my swan boss with one of these nasty buggers once I got it to level 8. Apparently, there were a lot of rules regarding bosses. A normal boss could never level or change. The only exceptions were when a boss has never been discovered like mine was or if it¡¯s a named monster. Still a dungeon has to be very careful on which creatures it names for unless one is removed from a dungeon they can never change. No matter how powerful a dungeon gets they can only have five named monsters.
The old swan boss came down with me to the second floor where I¡¯d hollowed an area out for it. I was starting to panic and wanted to quickly complete my second floor but it was going at a snail¡¯s pace. I recon it will take me at least a week to finish the floor, my mana can only permeate the stone so fast. On the first floor the mana had seeped into the stone long before I arrived but here I was starting from scratch.
In the end I created another rabbit orgy and set the doves to breeding. Much as I loathed to admit it, hopefully I would unlock another one of those damn pink rabbits. Besides that, I set aside a portion of my mana to nurture the rose creepers and started focusing back on growing. Only another human excursion into my dungeon could distract me from getting bigger. I just hope these humans are a friendly bunch and not the kind who likes to destroy dungeon cores or turn them into magical equipment.

Little Stream Town Guard Hall:
Captain Clifton¡¯s POV
Looking up I sighed as I saw Billy hovering in front of my desk. Is it too much to ask for a little peace and quiet once in a while? What is it this time the Crawfords and the Greenfingers get in another row over some ancient perceived slight that goes back hundreds of years.
¡°What is it Billy.¡± The kid needed to develop a backbone always hovering and never saying what he needed. That¡¯s fine in a small town like this but in battles a split second delay could mean more lives lost. Still that was pessimistic thinking of me no matter how much I might want one to occur some days to pull me from the mindless drudgery of petty disputes over farmland, a missing goat, or someone ranchers pregnant daughter.
Still there was a reason I moved here. After Clarissa died I swore off adventuring and moved out so Ashley could have a peaceful childhood. I smiled just thinking about what crazy antics my daughter had gotten into today. Then I snapped back to attention as I heard what Billy had to say.
¡°Sir Fletcher said he needed to speak to you. He said you would want to hear this from him.¡± My quite daydreaming was forgotten as I considered what could make Fletcher worried. The man was my best guard and an excellent ranger. If he had an uncommon class besides his bow maker class or lived in a bigger city he could become a great adventurer.
¡°Send Fletcher in Billy and next time don¡¯t just stand around, if you have something important to say just say it.¡±
¡°Yes sir, right away Captain.¡± He hurried out the door running off without even hardly a glance where he was going. I sighed and got up to shut the door. When will he learn that it¡¯s the little things that matter not just getting the job done.
Looking at him reminded me of what I was like at his age. Still a mere stable boy I had just gained the squire class after many an hour caring for the horses and ardently listening to every tale of adventure I could from the adventures who dropped off their horses at the stable when they came to the city. Still that seemed so long ago, I remember how me and Clarissa would always joke about going off on an adventure together. The tales of the stable hand turned knight and maid turned archer.
Around ten minutes after Billy raced off Fletcher came walking through the door. He wasn¡¯t a tall man by any standards at 5¡¯8¡± but there was something about him that set him apart from the average man living out in the countryside. His brown hair might help him blend in at times but you could see it in his gaze. Something almost bestial lurked behind the scruffy exterior of a farmer in his late twenties.
It also helped that he was no peasant. Fletcher was my highest level guard. He was a level 19 ranger, a level 15 guard, and a level 12 bow maker. Unlike most of the villagers who barely had one class over level 10 he had all three classes over.
¡°What did you have to report Fletcher? The boy said you had to give it to me personally.¡± I looked him over trying to guess what he had to say from his posture but like always it didn¡¯t show much. Fletcher hardly ever showed anything that¡¯s what made him so great at cards.
¡°There¡¯s evidence of another dungeon towards the west.¡± Damn, we¡¯ve already got the newly discovered goblin dungeon towards the north. I¡¯m sure the craftsmen and the innkeeper will be happy but this just means more work for me. I moved out here because I didn¡¯t want to deal with all the adventure bull shit.
¡°Are you sure it¡¯s a dungeon and not just a monster lair?¡± That had happened before. A supposed dungeon ended up being the nest of a Flare Griffin. It¡¯s fire mana had scorched and changed the surroundings but once it was driven away they had slowly gone back to normal.
¡°I¡¯ve personally confirmed it, we have another dungeon on our hands.¡± Fuck what are the gods up to? We¡¯ve already got at least two dungeons in the area and we¡¯re in the middle of fucking nowhere. The Saxosus Kingdom is one of the farthest western kingdoms, it¡¯s considered a hobo and goat fuckers kingdom not a proper land at all but here on the outskirts of it we¡¯re still being affected by the gods games.
The last report I got from a friend in the central part of the continent said that dungeons were popping up everywhere and that the three central kingdoms had over 100 dungeons a piece in them. Apparently, the east is almost as bad, only the untamed west and the barren desolate south is let off from a majority of the dungeon boom. Still the worst news is the arrival of the travelers. Some say they were cursed by the gods to feel the pain of death but never die, others that they are the children of gods and mortal, or demons descended onto the earth. What I do know is that wherever they go they bring the flames of chaos, death, and destruction. I can only hope they don¡¯t come here. Still enough of that it¡¯s time to focus on the present not dwell on the countless what ifs.
¡°So, is it another goblin dungeon?¡± That was another worrisome issue had the goblins made some deal with the gods cause almost have of the new dungeons are rumored to be goblin dungeons.
¡°No, captain.¡±
¡°Well that¡¯s a relief we¡¯ll already have enough of them with the one dungeon. How about an undead those seem to be on the rise as well?¡± Which was even more troublesome. While undead dungeons were allowed many of the churches frowned upon them and actively seeked to eradicate them. It would be a bad idea to get between the churches and something they wanted.
¡°No captain I didn¡¯t get a good look around but all I saw was a bunny rabbit.¡± As he said that he glanced to the side his face showing a concerned look for a second before disappearing as if it was never there. That was disturbing what could unnerve Fletcher, he almost never let anything show.
¡°What is it Fletcher? If you have any concerns just say them.¡±
¡°Sir it may be nothing but I found an unusual type of moss in the dungeon and the walls appeared to be glowing pink. Have you ever heard of a pink dungeon?¡± He pulled out a clump of pinkish moss from his pocket. A pink dungeon, I¡¯d heard of dungeons with a reddish, orangish, bluish glow hell one even had a blackish glow as weird as that was but pink. Ignoring his question about the color cause he probably guessed my answer from the expression I just made I asked about the moss.
¡°Well how unusual is it? Is it poisonous or something?¡± I grabbed it and tried to see what was so odd about it sure it was pink but a dungeons color had a pervasive effect on everything inside it so finding pink moss inside a pink dungeon was pretty much common sense. Still he had the rangers observe skill and I didn¡¯t. He could see part of a creature¡¯s status with it and apparently plants too, he must have reached at least journeyman to be able to do that which was impressive.
¡°Sir do you remember that love cult we drove out a few years ago.¡± Oh god was that a nightmare. They came into town and started trying to spread their message to all the townspeople. Normally I would just ignore all those religious zealots like the plague but after they started walking around naked and fraternizing with the local monsters as the head of the guard I had to step in.
¡°Yah, I remember some of the men even got involved with it.¡± I smirked when I recalled how Jim¡¯s experience in the cult had turned out. The man was a real player but wasn¡¯t a beauty by any standards and he probably joined because of all the nightly orgies and weekly gatherings to share one knowledge of the Goddess as they called it. Still last, I heard the orgy got messed up by a drunk or something and they ended up calling a pack of trolls instead of a group of dryads. Jim still cringes whenever he sees a troll. I heard a bull troll did a number on him even gave him the Troll¡¯s Bitch title.
¡°So, what does the dungeon have to do with those zealots?¡±
¡°Well that moss is apparently a mild form of aphrodisiac. Which is something a dungeon would rarely form, plus I¡¯d never even heard of a pink dungeon before today. The location of it is somewhat concerning as well. You know we never found their camp and it was somewhere to the west of town.¡± I better go check on this. As much as I would like to ignore this I have a bad feeling about all this. I knew those guys were trouble as soon as they came into town.
¡°Well we better get on it. We don¡¯t want them meddling with dungeons ever again. I¡¯m sure you¡¯ve heard of the Centaur Dungeon fiasco.¡± Fletcher nodded his face solemn. Now if ever there was a dungeon that could give one nightmares it was the centaur dungeon, worse even than an undead. Originally an animal dungeon that specialized in horse type monsters it somehow gained the blessing of the Goddess of Love and that¡¯s when everything went to hell. Her blessing changed the dungeons aura into one that made a person constantly horny while their mind was altered into a baser state where only the most basic desires remained: the need to eat, the drive to grow stronger, and an unquenchable urge to reproduce.
Countless men still had nightmares from the day when the dungeon first changed. It was rumored that on that day the centaur race came into existence. I once knew a man who had a brother that was in the dungeon on the day of the change he said he was never the same after that.
¡°You¡¯re coming sir.¡±
¡°Yes, also let¡¯s keep this on the down low. Everyone is focused on the new goblin dungeon to the north and for now let¡¯s keep it that way.¡±
¡°I¡¯ll assemble a squad of rangers right away, we can bring the Storm God¡¯s priest. He might only be good for predicting the weather but at least he should be able to tell of if there is anything linked to the divine in there. Gods can be picky when you mess with their things.¡±
Chapter 4: The Core Room has been breached
Chapter 4: The Core Room has been breached
Dungeon POV:
I felt their approach barely 6 hours after the ranger first arrived and quickly remembered that I¡¯d forgotten to set up a swan wyvern lair. I hurried to spend the evolution point and then placed it in the sole room on the second floor besides my room core. The specifics of everything could wait until after I knew if I survived this. If things went bad here then nothing else mattered. I¡¯d thought about trying to prepare more but in the end no matter what I did they could crush it like a pile of chalk.
Still, the adventurers were different than I expected. Sure, I mean I figured they would be armed, they were well except for one in a blue robe but he must be some kind of mage or priest. Still they seemed too normal I guess, I¡¯d always thought there would be something you could different you could sense about them, like an aura of death or bloodlust. Only the lead one gave off anything kind of similar to that but it was more an aura of command not death. He was obviously the leader. Of the six, four had leather armors and bows with a short sword hanging at their side. I think one was the ranger from before but I didn¡¯t really get a good look at him since he fled as soon as he killed the rabbit. The last, the one that gave of the aura of command was some kind of knight, he had plate armor on, a sword in his right hand, and a shield draped across his back.
There was something weird about their behavior though. All but the priest was acting funny, their eyes darting everywhere and they were walking funny almost like they had a rod up their ass. Maybe they were nobility, nah no way would five nobles be the first into the dungeon. Must be some kind of strange custom or stealth technique. Still I can¡¯t possibly understand why these guys would need to be even a little bit wary in a dungeon like mine.
They killed the first rabbit like it was some kind of demon, three arrows and a sword ended talk about overkill. The dove wyverns surprised them but they took out any who even got close to them, a single arrow was all they needed. My creations seemed to burst apart as soon as they touched them. They were good, they didn¡¯t even come near the rose creepers, all it took was one glance from a ranger and they all knew what they were. I guess they didn¡¯t care enough to kill everything they came across which was the only saving grace. In the end I managed to hide away my three pink rabbits and a few of the other higher level creatures.
In less than a minute they were at already at the boss room. It only took them that long because not all of the hallways between rooms were straight and meandered a bit. Still they wandered the entirety of each room like they were looking for something. I wonder what it was? Maybe I was supposed to give better loot. When you killed a rabbit, you got a rabbit pelt or a lucky rabbit foot. The dove wyverns gave a few of their metallic feathers as loot. They didn¡¯t kill any of the rose creepers but they gave a flower as loot.

Captain POV:
¡°So, what is your observation Edgar, is there a divine presence in this dungeon?¡± I was almost certain this dungeon was related to that Goddess of Love. Roses, bunnies, and pink all spoke of her hand in things. Not to mention those weird mutant doves. Doves have always been one of her symbols. I would have to keep my daughter far, far away from this dungeon. There was no telling what she would get into if she came in here.
¡°Clifton you¡¯re not going to believe this but almost everything here is a registering as a divine symbol to me. Well except for the moss and rabbits but even then, some of the rabbits seem to have some kind of priest of love class or other.¡±
¡°Wait how is that possible? Symbols of love are all summoned from an altar of the Goddess of Love. There is no way a dungeon or anyone could afford to summon that many of them.¡± Shit this is bad. Nothing stunk worse than godly politics. This was going to draw the Church of Love and that meant all the other churches would come and monitor the area as well to see what they were up to. It was a never ending battle for followers filled with lots of posturing to see whose god was bigger, better, more powerful. Priests are a bit like men in that they are always trying to see which one is the bigger man or in this case has the better god.
¡°Exactly, so the dungeon must have a connection to the Goddess of Love which ensures that everything is somehow tied to her. There is probably an altar to her somewhere in the dungeon.¡± That was even worse. The Church of Love would try to label this a holy area and keep everyone but their followers out of the dungeon. Still probably best to focus on the dungeon, if things ever got out of hand we could have a holy war on our hands. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
¡°Okay men we need to be careful, this dungeon making sure the dungeon is all in working order is or number one priority. It¡¯s of utmost importance that we guide this dungeon into a beneficial direction.¡± I can¡¯t imagine the consequences of this dungeon going rogue. This was deadly serious. While zealots like the love cult we chased out were rare the Goddess of Love was a goddess loved by all many of the unaffiliated would stand up for her if a holy war ever happened, even some who followed other gods and goddesses would join in leading to a battle that could involve the entire pantheon. Love crossed all species and when love was threatened legions rose up to defend her. She was one of the most peaceful and eccentric goddesses but also one of the most powerful and dangerous to anger. A person can hide from the sun, moon, or ocean but she is everywhere.
¡°First off we need to finish evaluating the dungeon. Fletcher you¡¯re in charge of making sure everything in here gets identified. It doesn¡¯t matter if it¡¯s a rock, a monster, a plant, or anything else we need it all documented. Oh, and keep your wits about I¡¯ll be sure to let the rest of the guards know if any of you are done in by a newbie dungeon.¡± It was best to try and keep the mood light the men laughed and we headed into the boss room. No need for them to realize the threat this dungeon could pose to our little town if they haven¡¯t already. Still some of the others were obviously nervous. Edgar surely knew the implications of this all and Fletcher could likely guess. Still he tried to lighten the mood by pointing out all the crazy things we saw.
¡°Well that¡¯s the biggest flower I¡¯ve ever seen. Maybe it¡¯s even big enough for your wife Ralph.¡± One of the men, Mike, joked as he patted Ralph on the back. The men chuckled and I hid a smirk as we moved in to fight the beast. Ralphs wife was a large woman that was the most tactful way to put it. Personally, I think she had a little giants blood but in a small town like this it was unwise to mention that, superstitions and all.
The boss was some kind of rose creeper like the others we¡¯d passed on our way here but this one was over twice the size of them. Arrows aren¡¯t much use here so I guess it¡¯s time for me to get to work. Drawing my sword, I felt some of the tension leave me. It almost like back in the ole days, if I closed my eyes I could pretend Clarissa was still there, fighting beside me. Her elven bow string snapping with each arrow she let loose.
¡°Put away your bows men and draw your swords. Let¡¯s cut this beasty down and bring a flower back for Ralph¡¯s little lass.¡±

Dungeon POV
The adventurers made quick work of my new boss. The rangers and the knightly one all drew swords and started hacking it apart while the mage summoned some kind of storm cloud that spat rain, hail, and lightning on the plant. The rain actually helped the plant but the latter two not so much. It fell without much fanfare, hardly able to put up a fight. In the end only one of the rangers was injured when the boss fell over a scratch across his face that made all the other¡¯s laugh. They joked about him telling his girl about the mighty plant he fought.
Their victory won them three large rose blossoms and a something I call a thorny staff, basically it¡¯s just a piece of mostly straight rose creeper stem about six feet long. They didn¡¯t seem too excited over their prizes but over the course of the fight I¡¯d taken a glance at their levels and could understand why. The knight was the strongest of the six by far he was a level 31 Sword Knight and a level 26 Guard Captain. Guard captain was an uncommon job but sword knight was a rare one, the first one I¡¯d seen. Shit though this man is way too OP! Why did I have to deal with existence at this level, I¡¯m barely level 2? Though by now I¡¯ve realized that dungeon levels are calculated differently than others.
Besides the ranger who came in earlier the other three rangers were all mostly level 10 to 12 guards, a common job, and level 12 to 16 rangers another common job, most had a third lower level class but one didn¡¯t have a third class at all. Apparently, the guy in the robes was a priest of the storm god, a weather mage, and a scribe. Though scribe was the highest at level 17 so I don¡¯t think he was a very good priest.
After the one guys face was bandaged they headed down the stairs to the second floor and met my mighty swan wyvern. I would like to say they were awestruck by my creations but they paid more attention to the core room that could vaguely be seen at the end of the short hallway out of the room than the red beast attacking them.
My creation fought bravely and blood splattered in every direction over the course of the fight. Unfortunately, though the blood was all swan and no human, the swan was severely injured by an arrow through the wing when it flew into the air and after three quick sword stokes it disappeared leaving only a large pile of feathers behind.
After killing the swan wyvern, they all walked in the core and started inspecting everything. The lowest level ranger got sent up the tree to pick the six ripe apples dangling from its branches. They were particularly interested in the altar but after twenty minutes or so of making sketches and writing stuff down they left. I survived? Yes, I did it I fought off my first group of adventurers. Okay they left after completely slaughtering everything but still, I survived.
Sighing I got to work repairing all the damages. God, I hate this drained feeling it¡¯s even worse than before. Why did they have to try and kill everything they saw. I have barely anything left. Without my monsters providing me with a little mana every second I a little sluggish. Oh well hopefully my new guardians will be ready soon I¡¯m looking forward to having five fully grown swan wyverns to protect my core.
Chapter 5: A Fluffy Little Bunny
Chapter 5: A Fluffy Little Bunny
Captain Clifton POV:
Once we made it back to town I called a meeting with the town council. They were some of the strongest and most influential people in this little town. Sometimes I still wonder how Peg leg Bob got on it but he did. The man is the oldest in the village by far. An old woodcutter who looks even older than he is which I find hard to believe since he¡¯s over 92. The town census only goes back that far.
We would have to be careful about how we handled this new dungeon. Unlike the goblin dungeon this one has the potential for great gains but could also bring about our destruction. No matter what we do the town is going to get crowded pretty soon. If this dungeon goes rogue it may not be world shattering but the entire western half of the kingdom would probably fall to ruin if a holy war occurs. So, it¡¯s imperative we tread carefully on the matter. I just hope nothing unexpected happens¡
¡°Sir Fletcher just saw three sets of footprints heading off toward the new dungeon. He¡¯s gone to try and stop them but doesn¡¯t know if he¡¯ll get there in time.¡± Billy barged in panting, it looked like he¡¯d ran all the way here.
¡°Well I guess that was to be expected, teenagers are always looking for a fight. Follow them and see if Fletcher needs any assistance we don¡¯t want them ending up hurt or dead. Then send them to me I¡¯ll talk with them before shooing them back to their parents to deal, they can reprimand them how they see fit. We¡¯ll have to keep an eye on them though, see if they try to do it again.¡±
¡°Sir it wasn¡¯t the teenagers.¡± He seemed to be gulping like he was nervous about telling me something. What could make Billy so nervous? If it wasn¡¯t teenagers who could it be? No, it couldn¡¯t be, she wouldn¡¯t be that reckless, would she? She totally would, oh shit.
¡°It¡¯s your daughter. She heard some of the men talking about all the bunny rabbits and flowers. Her and two of her friends are probably entering the dungeon now.¡± He was sweating even as he told me and fidgeting as he slunk into the corner but I couldn¡¯t be bothered with that. My darling little baby was stuck in some dungeon at only nine years old. Setting the paperwork aside I stood up addressed the boy and then promptly dashed out the door still shouting as I left.
¡°Round up the men, no just send word to Fletcher he knows where it is. Have the rest of the rangers form up and follow him to the dungeon. I¡¯ll meet them there.¡±
¡°But sir¡¡± I didn¡¯t pay any more attention to him already too far away to hear even with my perception advanced hearing. If anything happened to my little girl I would never forgive myself. If she didn¡¯t make it, I shuddered just thinking that even as my resolve hardened, holy war be damned, this dungeon would fall I would personally shatter its core.
¡°Huu, I didn¡¯t even get to tell him Fletcher should have already arrived at the dungeon by now. Oh well guess he¡¯ll find out when he gets there.¡± Billy pitied the dungeon if it harmed even a hair on her head for the captain was not a forgiving man. He had never seen the man act like that. He resolved to never get on the captain¡¯s bad side.

Dungeon POV:
I ended up spending an evolution point to modify a regular white rabbit. I just couldn¡¯t stand their shear uselessness. All they did was soak up arrows. Afterwards I sat back and admired my work, metaphorically speaking of course since I¡¯m always sitting stuck in a crystal prison. The new bunny was still white and outwardly the same as all the others without the servant of love class, but inside it was drastically different, it had gained the carnivorous trait.
Springing into action as a dove wyvern swooped low over the bunny it jumped straight up. All but shredding the bird with its razor sharp teeth and wicked claws before it even hit the ground. Operation badass bunnies is a go. Oh, wait what¡¯s this a new class, let¡¯s give it a shot.
Now my bunny was not only a secret killer, it was a predator. Who would ever suspect a cute little bunny of having the predator class? Killer white bunnies are much better than flower monsters.
I set up Killer as I dubbed my new rabbit right inside the entrance after finishing up another rabbit fueled orgy that would ensure his genetics lived on. Apparently one of the skills of the pink rabbits is a create orgy skill. Which could be useful I admitted but it was probably best too only use it in certain situations or areas or people would get mad at my dungeon, I don¡¯t need everybody trying to destroy me, especially while I still don¡¯t know if I¡¯ll come back or not. That reminds me I need to put together a help ticket.
Back to the rabbit I positioned it near the entrance and watched as he leaped at the first of the intruders. She was a little redheaded girl that slightly resembled the Captain. Hastily I wondered if maybe I should stop the bunny but it was too late he¡¯d already reached her claws out and fangs bared. She was toast, she was¡
She was hugging the bunny and petting it as she talked to it in a demeaning voice, poor rabbit she should have just killed it. This is so demeaning even a little girl can turn one of my best monsters into a cuddly little toy and she was only a¡ This little girl is a f**k*n level 5 berserker. What the hell has this world come too?Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Am I weaker than even a bunch of little girls.? After checking the other two I felt a little more relieved, the short black haired girl was only a level 2 witch while the taller brunette was a level 3 priestess. Okay so this is okay I can beat them, I am stronger than a bunch of little girls. Pretty sad that my combat level ranks just higher than a bunch of 9 year old¡¯s. Speaking of which shouldn¡¯t my rabbit be better than this.
It turns out Killer was a level 3 rabbit and a level 1 predator so overall, he shouldn¡¯t be much weaker. However, I¡¯d come to realize that starting race affected how many stats a monster was born with. A level 1 dragon would be much stronger than a level 1 frog. Apparently as a berserker she perfectly constrained my fast, little rabbit once it was in her arms. Only its predator enhanced strength kept it from being squished to death.
I almost sighed with joy when Fletcher finally appeared. I¡¯d had a feeling he would show up, he always seems to appear when something is happening. My poor little Killer would finally be put out of his misery. He came up and tried to take the bunny from the little girl and something happened that shocked us both.

Captain Clifton POV:
I burst out of the forest and into the clearing and saw Fletcher with Ashley¡¯s two friends. No how could I let this happen? I should have been there for her. I failed you to baby girl just like I failed your mother.
¡°Where¡¯s my daughter?! Did she make it?!¡± Striving to remain calm despite my panic I shouted at Fletcher. He slowly wiped the spittle from his face as I skidded to a halt in front of him and pointed. Oh my god did he set her body over there?
Huu, everything is okay she¡¯s just playing with a bunny. How typical of her to go to a dungeon just to play with a rabbit. Wait, a bunny that just shredded the carrot she gave it in seconds then grinned revealing two rows of vicious shark like teeth. My daughter is definitely not keeping that thing. Turning around she saw me and grabbed the bunny holding it up to me with a smile so wide it almost split her face apart, I felt my determination start to crumble. Why did she have to give me that face?
¡°Daddy look, this is Fluffy. He just jumped right into my arms as soon as I entered the dungeon. We must be destined to be together. Isn¡¯t he so cute? Oh, and daddy I leveled up again. I didn¡¯t even need to do anything I just walked into the dungeon and leveled.¡± Well of course you leveled berserkers level from doing crazy things. I sighed what is crazier than a nine year old girl wandering unarmed into a dungeon? Ashley oh Ashley what am I going to do with you?
¡°Ashley, you can¡¯t just go wandering around everywhere it¡¯s dangerous. You could have gotten hurt or worse dungeons are very dangerous. Plus, I don¡¯t think this little rabbit would make a good pet. How about something friendlier?¡± There I got my point across now she would just nod and agree. Oh, if only it was so simple. Why can¡¯t she ever listen to me, if she listened half as good as my men did I would thank all the gods every night.
¡°Captain, that¡¯s not just any bunny. It¡¯s been altered by the dungeon and even gained the predator class.¡± Fuck, I knew it had a crazy set of teeth but gaining the predator class basically ensured it would level up into a killer bunny. There was no way I was letting my daughter have such a creature, well maybe when she¡¯s older. Once she becomes an adult she can make her own decisions but not before then.
¡°But daddy I tamed him, I have to keep him. I even named him Fluffy. You can¡¯t make me get rid of him.¡± What why would you tame a rabbit? A person can only have a single tamed pet in their lifetime unless they got the tamer class. This was going to be a problem, maybe I could take her to one of the mages in the capital they might be able to remove the taming bond.
¡°I read his status he¡¯s already named somehow. His name is Killer, I don¡¯t think he¡¯ll take to the name Fluffy.¡± We looked at the rabbit only which my daughter had set back down only to see it looking up at us with a pair of innocent looking eyes as it scratched an ear with its back feet, too cute. This rabbit is dangerous, it must have some kind of cuteness skill or trait. Still if she¡¯d already tamed it I guess it would have to stay at least until I could get it removed. Having your tamed beast killed was something I never wanted her to experience. I shivered just thinking about that day that took her mother and Blaze, my wolf from me; no, it¡¯s not the time to dwell on the past.
¡°Come on, we need to get you all back to your parent¡¯s I¡¯m sure Misty and Amanda¡¯s parents are all worried sick about them. That was a very bad thing you did Ashley, sneaking off like that. You all could have all of you gotten hurt or worse.¡± I sighed for what seemed like the umpteenth time today, I just hope we could get through the rest of the week without any more incidents involving this dungeon. Of course, I would never be that lucky.
Chapter 6: Trading and Teenagers
Chapter 6: Trading and Teenagers
Dungeon POV:
So, I survived the encounter with the demon child. The only thing that was crushed here was my pride. Abnormally strong children aside, I¡¯ve decided to increase the difficulty of my dungeon and no it has nothing to do with a child besting my latest monster. It¡¯s time to get in touch with the other dungeons in the area.
The AI network is very weird but that¡¯s probably just because I¡¯m not an AI. It¡¯s like a web of connections and you just have to find the right paths to get where you want too. As I spread my awareness I quickly found five sources of light on the network but they were decisively not dungeons so I ignored them.
In the end I found two dungeons within my range of influence. There was a goblin dungeon pretty close to me and an undead dungeon at the farthest reaches of my range. For now, I ignored the undead dungeon since I had no plans of adding undead to my dungeon and both felt like around three floor dungeons. Somehow my brain was able to categorize the brightness, the size, and the color of the light into meaningful data. Must be some kind of dungeon or AI thing anyways the closer goblin dungeon was the obvious choice and no, I wasn¡¯t miffed at all that these two dungeons had grown faster than me. I just got off to a rough start. The last few days had been rough and I wasn¡¯t even talking about my dying.
The goblin dungeon had the personality of a perky teenage girl which I found odd. For one we¡¯re dungeons and we don¡¯t sleep so how can someone be so perky 24/7. Secondly who the hell programed these AI¡¯s since I highly doubt they¡¯re people whose data was corrupted like mine. Which reminds me I finally got a reply from the devs. Apparently, they now know my data was corrupted but they can¡¯t do anything about the corruption. Like me they were also unsure what would happen if I died. They said they could probably save my consciousness from deletion upon death, but probably isn¡¯t good enough for me. I am not dying anytime soon!
In the end after a series of negotiations we agreed upon a trade and on my side a level 8 rose creeper and one of my predator class bunnies disappeared. There was no way I would let another dungeon gain access to my future dragons. I would be ¡®The Dragon Dungeon¡¯ not one of the many dragon dungeons.
However, trading a carnivorous rabbit and a rose monster for a troll was a pretty good deal if I say so myself. The troll was a ten feet tall green over muscled monstrosity, I loved it. Finally, a monster that wasn¡¯t fluffy or pink.

It was stupid and actually had an intelligence limiter but to me it seemed like the first real monster I¡¯d gotten. If this was a just world I would have gotten this troll instead of a bunch of birds and flowers. Still now I just had to evolve it. With the use of an evolution point to boost its natural talent I can hopefully evolve it into a rare class. My first rare class how great that would be.
As I watched the troll¡¯s features smoothed out becoming more humanoid, obviously it will become a troll king or something. It turned out to be or something. While the warts faded and its greenish brown complexion lightened I finally saw what it had evolved into.

Sexy Troll lv. 10 (Rare)
Sexy trolls are said to be the rarest of all trolls. They evolve in an environment that cares about appearance above all else and strive to imitate that. They are just as strong as the average troll but have an added boost to charisma.Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.

Why? Not even a troll can maintain its ugly, warty, brutish appearance in my dungeon. Right now, it still looks like a big green apish man but what happens when it gets higher leveled. It¡¯s just going to get better and better looking. My dungeons reputation is getting thrown out the window. Why couldn¡¯t it get smarter, or stronger, it had to get better looking.
Still it was a real monster and now I could start upgrading my dungeon. After the second room, well third if you count the core, was built on the floor I created my troll¡¯s monster lair, troll¡¯s cave.
|
Troll¡¯s Cave (Lair):
1 evolution point
A troll¡¯s lair it will continuously spawn more of any creature with the troll racial class or one of its rank ups.
Size: 3 burrows (with the blessing of love trolls have 2 young each time)
Spawn Rate: 50 times normal (normal time: 180 days for gestation, 6 years to grow up) (Dungeon natural rate: 20 times)
6 level 5 trolls will be born every 2 days, 8 hours, and 53 minutes
Upgrades:
¡¤ Size: double nest size (6 nests), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Spawn Rate: double spawn rate (100 times), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Level: improve all spawns to level 6, 1 evolution point
|
I slightly regretted it but I decided to spend a point on doubling the spawn rate of the trolls. That meant it would just over a day to get 6 trolls, not very fast but at least I will get some new ones almost every day.
After that it was time to upgrade some of my other lairs. In the end I decided on rabbits since they were the only monsters so far who¡¯d unlocked a second class and I wanted to see if I could spawn monsters with that class. In the end after 3 points of upgrades the floor 2 rabbit screen looked like this.
|
Rabbit¡¯s Den (Lair):
A rabbit monsters lair it will continuously spawn more of any creature with the rabbit racial class or one of its rank ups.
Size: 4 burrows (with the blessing of love rabbits have 10 kits each time)
Spawn Rate: 10 times normal (normal time: 30 days for gestation, 60 days to grow up) (Dungeon natural rate: 20 times)
40 level 6 (5+1) rabbit monsters will be born every 10 hours and 48 minutes
Upgrades:
¡¤ Size: double nest size (8 nests), 1 evolution point
¡¤ Spawn Rate: double spawn rate (20 times), 2 evolution point
¡¤ Level: improve all spawns by 2 levels, 2 evolution point
¡¤ All rabbits spawn with a second class (90% Predator, Un; 10% Servant of Love, Un) at level 1
|
Now all my rabbits would have a second class and I doubled the spawn rate. I would be overrun with rabbits if I was lucky. Which is to say if I¡¯m unlucky people will kill them all before I can power them up. Now it was time to grow and grow.
The next day Fletcher came and brought me a few things. He stood outside and started to toss them in. The things which caught my attention was the weapons a rusty old short sword, a battered and broken shield, and a sparkling brand new steal knife. He¡¯d grumbled about that one but tossed it inside in the end. Besides the weapons he also threw in some other things. First was a moth eaten boot, then a florescent orange pair of skinny jeans, I know right can you believe even this world has skinny jeans. Next, he started throwing in what appeared to be the remains of last night¡¯s dinner a half eaten carrot, an old ham bone, a piece of cheese, and an empty bottle of beer. Then he patted himself down and smirked. I vaguely heard him say ¡®that should do it and Captain doesn¡¯t need to know I didn¡¯t take this too seriously¡¯, I bet he shorted me.
While I was inspecting my new poor quality loot he came back with a group of teenagers I guess, you would call them. They were all around 15 or 16 and most had a total of around 8 or 9 levels, a few had a couple more but none of them had a class over level 10. The oldest was a level 7 farmer and a level 4 warrior. I could handle this most of my monsters on the second floor are 5 or 6 but I have a couple sevens and the boss is a 10. There are only 6 of them and Fletcher. Yah with Fletcher here they won¡¯t have any trouble.
The kids all charged through the first floor and besides the boss they easily killed everything else. The boss almost got the shortest, a fat little goat herder but Fletcher quickly jerked him out of danger. It just took a while longer for them to kill the boss since they were lower level than my first crazy group of adventurers.
They were quite a bit slower on the second floor since most of them weren¡¯t much stronger than the monsters in terms of level. The rabbits could dart around them and through their ranks biting and clawing while the trolls just charged at them head first. They might be higher level but none of them could compete with a troll in terms of brute strength, farmers and ranchers aren¡¯t a very strong class and even woodcutters have trouble facing off against a troll. Still it was the dove wyverns and swan wyverns that really got to them.
Fletcher had to shoot down a couple that came close to gouging out an eye or two. Over the course of an hour or two they slowly cleared each room. It would have been faster but they took a short break after each room. Still I now knew that while weaker my monsters would have been easily able to overwhelm the six of them without Fletcher. They peaked into the boss room but when Fletcher saw it was a troll he turned them around and they left the dungeon.
After they left I finally decided to turn my attention to the loot issue. While I was fine giving just monster parts for the average monster it was time to create some boss loot. Maybe I¡¯d even arm the trolls if any of it turned out successful.
First off though I copied the style of the orange skinny jeans and scaled up the size while changing the color to a deep red. Looking at the description I was fairly happy with what I got, they were called Troll leather skinny jeans. While they would look very unusual on the trolls I was already tired of watching a bunch of naked trolls walk around. After that I decided to plant the carrot and see if it grew, little did I know what consequences that action would bring, before turning back to my original task making loot.
After a while I was pretty satisfied with the results. The first thing I had created was a pair of shields. One was a tower shield made from a solid slab of apple wood with a rose carved into it. The second was more of a buckler, it was made of iron and had the image of a swan wyvern in flight engraved upon it. Next, I¡¯d made a well it wasn¡¯t chainmail but that¡¯s what it was most similar to, I called it feather mail it was made from a dove wyverns metallic feathers.
Moving on to weapons I had created a ginormous club, for my trolls, a replica of the steel dagger, and a steel short sword. Finally, after I decided I was missing something I tried my hand at a mages staff. It was made from a gnarly branch of apple wood and the deadliest rose stems. This deadly greenish staff was then topped with a replica of one of the pink gems from the altar. Okay, let¡¯s just face the facts I made a woody stick a pink gem on it but it¡¯s still the best mages tool I¡¯ve ever created.
Now that the loot was done I could go back to building. When the kids came in I had six rooms on the second floor, again not counting the core room, done and still needed four more before I could finish. Soon though I would be strong enough to rival not just teenagers but real adventurers.
Chapter 7: Officially a Dungeon
Chapter 7: Officially a Dungeon
Captain Clifton POV:
I curse looking at the report in my hand.
¡°Two days not even a week, that¡¯s all I get. Why can¡¯t this dungeon just keep to itself and leave things the way they are.¡± The goblin dungeon shows signs of interacting with the weird dungeon. There were several reports of seeing rabbits in the dungeon but that¡¯s not really odd in itself. The d*mned things are everywhere.
No, the problem is a rose monster was spotted on the second floor, probably those rose creepers or whatever. Dungeon to dungeon interaction means the trading of monsters. I don¡¯t know how they do it but they do. So, the damn love dungeon probably just got a bunch of goblins, hobgoblins, or trolls added to it. Having a humanoid species in a dungeon dedicated to the Goddess of Love is never a good idea. Thoughts of the centaur dungeon send a shiver down even my mind.
Sending Billy after Fletcher I make a decision. It will be just the two of us this time. After we make our evaluation we will make the results public and this it will officially become Little Stream¡¯s second dungeon. Putting it off this long was already bad enough, any longer and it will raise too much suspicion. We might have to deal with some noble interest into the town but with the numbers of dungeons popping up lately it should be minimal.
A while later Fletcher showed up.
¡°I sent Billy off to go train with some of the other Guards Captain. If this is about the dungeon I have some information on it¡±
¡°You were in the dungeon.¡± I try to keep the judgmental tone out of my voice. No one was supposed to be in the dungeon till we officially decided if it was dangerous or not.
¡°I took a group of the village lads with me when I went to drop off the loot for the dungeon. Wanted to have them test it out and get a feel for the difficulty. We discovered trolls though on the second floor. The boss is some kind of troll variant, a sexy troll.¡± I¡¯d just taken a sip of my coffee and started choking on it nearly spilling the rest all over me.
¡°Did you say a sexy troll?¡± My voice filled with incredulity, I¡¯d never know Fletcher to swing that way. Still I guess every man has their own set of fantasy¡¯s.
¡°Yes, apparently it is a rare troll rank up that gets a boost to charisma. Apparently, they are one of the very rarest varieties of troll.¡± I wonder why? Still finding out Fletcher isn¡¯t a troll lover is comforting. I only had a slight suspicion he might be when he said that. The man is so closed off a person can never tell what he¡¯s thinking. Still a sexy troll sounds a bit like an oxymoron. I wonder what this thing really looks like, less warts, a better complexion, maybe it smells better. The last possibility would probably be the best, nothing is worse than getting troll stench all over you.
¡°I have to go see this new type of troll. Also, I suppose it¡¯s time to submit a formal evaluation of the dungeon to the king. Nobility never like it when you leave them out of anything.¡± With that we headed of to the dungeon. After considering all the crazy things about this dungeon it kind of made me curious of what would come next. It would be trouble I could be sure of that.
***
Dungeon POV:
I¡¯ve gotten to seven rooms just three more and I can catch up to those losers. I mean those other dungeons. Still everything just takes forever. I can just imagine how slowly I will grow when I get more and more floors. This is why dungeons try to kill anyone, they can¡¯t handle the boredom caused by slow growth. The urge to grow is like an itch you can¡¯t scratch and with every death in the dungeon it gets scratched a little as you gain more mana.
Still right now the only thing I can do to gain mana is to passively absorb it from the air and stone that borders my dungeon or slowly siphon it off anyone who enters the dungeon. I tried having my monsters leave the dungeon but they could only get about two feet from the entrance. Apparently, I get a foot of extra range with each floor.
All that was within range of my rabbits was a few rocks and a clump of grass. I mean of course I took it but it provided almost no mana. Maybe that Fletcher guy will decide to throw some more junk in the dungeon. Look how low I¡¯ve fallen begging for a piece of junk. What¡¯s next? Now I can see why dungeons entice adventurers in with loot. Them coming inside the dungeon and deaths are some of the only ways to speed up our growth.
Still I¡¯m content with my loot and my monsters are too weak for me to give out any of the good stuff. Someday soon I would be able to become a powerful dungeon and after forming my tenth floor I would finally be able to have a real body again. After making the tenth floor I could rank up from a dungeon core to a dungeon lord. Then I would form a body using one of my monsters as the base and be able to do all the things I used to do.If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Interrupted from my fantasizing about becoming a dragon were two people who just entered the dungeon. It¡¯s the op guy and Fletcher. I wonder why there here? Maybe they brought me some more stuff. Nope it looks like there just here to kill everything. They brought those clipboards again and seem to be writing down the level of everything and the common types of loot. I wonder if I¡¯ll finally get a bunch of adventurers after this? Of course, they might be little kids and teenagers but everyone has to start somewhere.
Captain Clifton POV:
¡°That¡¯s a troll, right?¡± I asked Fletcher when we got to the boss room. While the monster appeared to be a troll at first glance a green apish figure over ten feet tall I had never seen a better looking troll. Most trolls had warts and lesions all over but this one was blemish free. I would never tell anyone I felt this way but I was slightly jealous of how great it¡¯s skin looked. While not a beauty by any stretch of the word it was the best toll I¡¯d ever laid eyes on. Still the oddest feature of all was the bright red skinny jeans that looked almost painted onto its muscular physique.
¡°Yah, that¡¯s the one. It¡¯s a rare class so it gets all the regular troll bonuses and a charisma boost upon ranking up. Man can you believe how much Jim will freak when he sees this. Still, the troll wasn¡¯t wearing anything when I saw it the first time, it didn¡¯t have that giant ass club either.¡± Fletcher chuckled just thinking about the man¡¯s troll phobia.
¡°Fletcher are those the pair of skinny jeans my daughter got you for the winter solstice.¡±
¡°What no of course not. How could I bear to give those things up? You know I love everything your daughter has ever given me.¡± Those are definitely a variation of the present my daughter gave him just over two months ago. Still why did he have to throw it in the dungeon, couldn¡¯t he just burn them like I sometimes do with mine when Ashley isn¡¯t looking. If he gave this too the dungeon that probably means¡
¡°You didn¡¯t give the dungeon the loot I told you, too did you? I gave you good money to buy everything. Where did all my money go?¡± He actually looked a bit sheepish when I said that.
¡°Well you know how expensive some of the rarer bow components can be. I¡¯ve been working on a new bow after my last good one broke and dragon tendon doesn¡¯t come cheap even the low level stuff.¡± That was the straw that broke the camels back. Everything from work, to Ashley¡¯s latest antics, and now all the stress over the dungeon finally reached the boiling point.
¡°You gave the dungeon a pile of trash because you wanted a stupid bow string! Now all we¡¯ll probably get is a bunch of trash from the dungeon and it¡¯s all your fault! Why can¡¯t anybody around here think before doing something!¡± Okay now that I think about it, it isn¡¯t really that bad. We just need to give it some real loot and hope for the best. Troll blood and these strange feathers were already decent loot anyways, now the piles of rabbit fur that were starting to accumulate is another matter.
After I calmed down some I turned my attention back to the troll which had been hammering away at my shield unsuccessfully while I talked to Fletcher. The troll was a pretty good opponent for the second floor if I do say so myself. It took two arrows and a sword stroke from me to kill it which is rare for a level 10 beast. Though I guess arrows aren¡¯t very effective against trolls.
After the troll faded away it left three things but the first caught my eye. It was the reddish brown pants the troll had worn though they had shrunk to about my size. Fletcher was a tall thin guy like most rangers.
¡°What are these?¡±
¡°Troll leather pants, Captain. The others are a vial of troll blood and I¡¯m sure you can see that the last thing is a tree stump club.¡± Wow I never expected that, troll leather pants. It was a little unnerving to find trolls wearing troll leather but it was also kind of nice to not have to see all that dangling around. The pants also seemed to serve as protection from some of the attacks of the more sadistic female adventurers.
Besides the trolls loot we also got a couple more of those apples from the core room and a giant wooden shield with a rose carving. Well if nothing else we would have a lot of firewood though I might decide to keep the shield. The club was definitely getting turned into kindling, no respectable adventurer would ever use it and not that many in the town are strong enough to wield it.

Chapter 8: Tales of Fluffy
Chapter 8: Tales of Fluffy
Ashley POV:
Me and Fluffy have been sneaking out together into the woods lately. He¡¯s great at finding animals and all kinds of herbs. We¡¯ve went a little crazy out in the woods while daddy is still at work. Most of the creatures we¡¯ve fought are a level 1 or 2 but there has been a lot of them. Fluffy is such a great pet he just devours everything so I don¡¯t have to worry about cleaning up the messes we leave behind.
Fluffy has already caught up to me. We¡¯re both level 5 it is so perfect. While hunting yesterday he reached predator level 2. Now it¡¯s time to hunt some real monsters. I heard some of the guards talking about there being a few wolves hanging around to the east of town. I¡¯m going to have a wolf fur blanket for me and Fluffy. We can snuggle under it together and stay warm in the winter.
The two of us set out. Fluffy led the way since he has big ears and can hear really good. We were just looking for a few lone wolves. It would be a bad thing if we ran into a bunch of them so Fluffy had to pay attention. He¡¯d warn me if something big and scary was coming our way.
After a really long walk through the woods we stumbled upon a clearing and caught sight of our prey on the other side of it. The creature was a level 7 lone wolf, I¡¯d learned the observe skill with Fletchers help. Daddy had been real proud of me since without a ranger or scouting class it was apparently really hard to learn.
Right after we saw the wolf it lifted its nose up and sniffed the air before looking in our direction. There was a little hesitation in its eyes but eventually it came charging towards us. That was a bad idea Mr. Wolfy. Fluffy and I aren¡¯t just any girl and her pet bunny out for a walk in the woods. Drawing my sword, I got ready for it while Fluffy bared his fangs and extended his little claws. He¡¯s so cute when he acts like this.
As it leaped at me jaws open my vision started to gain a red tint and I swung my sword. Being a berserker is so fun, fighting is like eating ice cream and in a town as small as ours ice cream is hard to get. Finally, after a long drawn out battle me and Fluffy one. Still the bad doggy bit my leg and poor Fluffy has a long gash across his side. He¡¯s going to have to wear one of my dolls sweaters to hide that from daddy.
After the fight was over I skinned the wolf, that was my original mission anyway. I¡¯ll tell the tailor that daddy gave it to me, he can charge daddy for it, then I¡¯ll have a new blanket. Wait maybe I should have him make a stuffed doggy, the wolf was pretty cute but it was too big to hug properly and I already have fluffy. Daddy said I could only have one tamed pet and I¡¯m never giving up Fluffy.
Once I rolled up the hide and Fluffy finished eating the wolf we started heading back. We had to be careful to avoid the guards or they would tell Daddy what I¡¯d been doing. When we got home I noticed we¡¯d both leveled up. I¡¯d become a level 6 berserker and Fluffy was now a level 3 predator, rabbit was still level 3 unfortunately. I¡¯d have to figure out how to raise the rabbit class soon.
***This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
It¡¯s only been three days since we killed the wolf and Fluffy has already out leveled me it¡¯s so fair. I was feeding him some carrots this morning like I always do. He gets carrots in the morning and meat at night, and he became a level 4 rabbit. That was when I realized that rabbits eat carrots and to gain levels in the rabbit class he needs to eat carrots.
Tonight, I¡¯d made a resolution to cook a meal out of carrots and meat for Fluffy. The meal didn¡¯t turn out so well in the end but at least it didn¡¯t start moving when I was finished, that happened once. I don¡¯t know why the system keeps giving me such bad skills and classes. I¡¯d tried to become a cook before an ended up getting offered some weird class, unholy chef. Apparently, it would have turned all the food I made into monsters, there was no way I would let that happen. I would become a great cook one day. Then it didn¡¯t give the cooking skill but the toxic food skill and the killer cooking skill.
I don¡¯t know why everyone tries to stop me from cooking. I¡¯ve always heard it takes practice to get perfect but as soon as I even mention cooking daddy goes pale and won¡¯t even let me near the kitchen. Still I¡¯ve been secretly practicing and my toxic food skill has reached basic level 3 while my killer cooking skill is basic level 1. Now that I have basic level in them I should be able to get the real cooking skill.
The pot looked a little strange but I¡¯m sure it¡¯s supposed to be purple and bubbling. The carrots turning an emerald green seemed strange but there is now way I can mess up a pot filled with only water, chicken, and carrots, of and whatever was in that box I used for seasoning. For some reason Fluffy seemed reluctant to eat it but I made him eat the whole bowl see nothing bad happened.
Oh no Fluffy just started seizing what should I do. He must have choked on a bone. I better get daddy. As soon as I turned to rush out the door I noticed Fluffy had stopped convulsing and was lying on his side his breathing faint. Oh no, I hope he¡¯s okay. I better check his status.

He¡¯s alive, oh everything is gonna be okay. He¡¯s even got pretty purple stipes running from his head to his tale. The stew must have given him a power up. Still maybe I should get rid of the stew before daddy comes home, still a little taste can¡¯t hurt anyone. Gaa, it¡¯s horrible. Now wonder Fluffy had a tummy ache after eating this. I better throw this out before daddy finds it. Though now that I think about it the pretty green carrot is growing, pretty purple sprouts are shooting up I better go plant it.
When Fluffy gets hungry he can nibble on that carrot. Still this meal wasn¡¯t a complete failure, I got another level in toxic food. Now I just have to find something to hide the dead and barren patch on the ground where I threw the food out.
Chapter 9: A Man鈥檚 Unlikely Mount
Chapter 9: A Man¡¯s Unlikely Mount
Traveler Richard¡¯s POV:
It¡¯s only been two real life days since Medieval Monstrosities Online has been released but it¡¯s already topping all the charts. In just over a week of game time people have experienced countless thrills that in some areas even surpass that of their real life counterparts.
Imagine eating a meal when your sense of taste and smell is ten times greater, enhancing perception can do that. How many people have ever dreamed of an entire day of just sex, now with higher endurance it¡¯s possible. Everything just seems so more vivid in game.
The only thing to complain about is how hard it is to get good classes. A person only gains levels when doing something related to one of their classes which means no running messages back and forth to earn exp., there is no giant exp. Bonus when you finish a quest, quests aren¡¯t even officially recognized by the system most times.
Apparently just training and practicing can also raise melee classes but at a lesser degree than combat will. The other complaint about classes is rarity. To start leveling a person needs a class so that means a person usually has to choose one of the very first options. Almost everyone ended up with a common first class which pisses people off since the higher level you are the more important a good class is. So far no one has figured out how to unlearn a class yet so if you choose it your stuck with it.
I ended up choosing the warrior class just so I could start leveling like a lot of others, almost 50% of the player base has the warrior class because it¡¯s the easiest to get. You just have to kill 5 things with a weapon. Simple, almost too simple. Still I could hopefully upgrade it to an advanced class at level 10, if I could meet one of the hidden rank up requirements.
So far, I have been trying to find a way to get out of the city. It is jam packed with all the other players. Most of them have been out hunting but still the city was crowded with countless bodies. The locals were all giving us the stinky eye and I can¡¯t say I blame them. More than one traveler lost a hand for attempted thievery. Ouch, I shudder just thinking about it. While there are pain limiters their set at around 50% which I¡¯ve heard doesn¡¯t feel much better when you¡¯re dying. Thieves can¡¯t even get their hand back without dying or having a high level healing spell cast on them.
I spotted a small merchants caravan and decided to try my luck there, I had asked other caravans and people but I was too low leveled and had nothing to pay them to take me along as baggage. This one seemed a little more beaten up and weathered than most with only three wagons each pulled by a team of dark brown horses.
¡°Well what are you doing here boy?¡± I bristled at the word boy but let it slide. The man talking to me seemed like some kind of grizzled soldier, or guard more likely.
¡°I¡¯m looking to join your convoy and head out of the city with you.¡± The man chuckled and said something to the other guard who laughed. Then he thought about a minute and said.
¡°As the head of the guard I can let you join if you can do two things. First, you¡¯d need to be the cook for the entire caravan, it doesn¡¯t matter if you have the cook class as long as you have the cook skill. Our cook Joe took ill and won¡¯t be joining us this time. Secondly you have to be able to keep up so you need a mount if you want to come.¡± Well that derailed that hope I¡¯d seen the prices of horses in town and there was no way I could afford one. All I had was a single silver and a few coppers. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
¡°Is there anywhere I could find a mount to tame? I¡¯m a little short on cash.¡± The two looked at each other and shrugged. The older guard who was apparently in charge turned to me again.
¡°It is rare for someone to want to tame a mount but if that¡¯s your choice I won¡¯t stop you. There are three places you might find a tamable mount: Desolate Cliffs, Poisonous Swamp, and the Foggy Valley. The desolate cliffs it ten miles to the North of town, if you¡¯re at least level 10 and can survive the climb you can acquire a mount from there. Poisonous Swamp is about three days trek to the Southeast. There you can find many tamable beasts from levels 5 to 25 but beware the poisonous miasma that coats the region. The last is the location of a more unconventional mount two days walk through the forest to the Northwest will take you to a small valley nestled between two mountains there you will find level 4 to 10 creatures that can be used as a mount. We will be leaving the city in a week¡¯s time so if you wish to go with us be back here before dawn on the seventh day.¡± With that he walked back into one of the wagons and the other guard followed him.
So, it sounded like the best mounts would come from either the Desolate Cliffs or this Poisonous Swamp. Unfortunately, for me though I¡¯m only level 4 and I don¡¯t relish the thought of my chances of scaling a cliff while I¡¯m attracted by wild animals or my odds of coming out alive if I venture into an area where the very air is toxic. Guess I better try my chances at this Foggy Valley. I wonder how unusual this mount could be?
After two long exhausting days of wandering through the woods while trying to go Northeast I finally found the valley and what do I see donkeys. Sure, these were big long haired horse sized donkeys but they were definitely donkeys. Now I get why he said they were unconventional mounts and the other guards faced changed when he heard him recommend this place. He was laughing at me going off to catch a donkey. How many people besides a poor farmer would be caught dead riding a donkey? Even then most farmers have work horses or mules not donkeys.
I went through hell to catch a donkey. I almost died on three separate occasions. First was the killer squirrel incident, how can a squirrel be so much stronger than me. Level 8 squirrels are not to be messed with. That is one perk of being a traveler, all travelers get a lesser form of observe which can show a creature¡¯s name, class, and levels. Unlike with observe it doesn¡¯t improve with practice though and will never offer up any extra information though. Still it kept me from walking straight into that killer fern. How is a plant level 15? God, it seems like everything is out to get me. The level 6 bear cub was the only threat I managed to beat and even than I was left running from the enraged mama bear only my higher agility saving me.
Still with all my crazy adventures I did learn three skills. After avoiding the fern, I gained the Wilderness Survival skill and have leveled it up to beginner level 2. Then last night when I was starting a fire with a piece of flint I learned the Fire Starter skill and the cooking skill. Apparently, my meager real life cooking skills was enough to elevate me to beginner level 3. No if only I¡¯d had some meat to cook instead of just making a soup of roots and berries, it tasted about as good as it looked terrible. The soup did give me a level in Poison Resistance so maybe if I ever come back here I can head into the swamp. I decided to think that the berries had been poisonous in the end and it wasn¡¯t a result of my bad cooking. Now that I think about it there had been a rotten smell hanging around the plant.
Now it is donkey catching time because as much as I don¡¯t want to do this it¡¯s probably my only chance to join a caravan. If I pass this up I¡¯ll be stuck here like everyone else. Still though, why did it have to be donkeys?
Chapter 10: Ashley鈥檚 New Class
Chapter 10: Ashley¡¯s New Class
Ashley POV:
I miss talking to Fletcher but right now I¡¯m having too much fun to let daddy find out, I know he¡¯ll try and stop me if he knows what I¡¯ve been doing. Yesterday me and Fluffy hunted our biggest monster yet a level 8 lone wolf. It was pretty scary but with me and Fluffy both working together we took it down. I told daddy I fell into a blackberry bush, I¡¯m not sure he believed me but he didn¡¯t question it, he seems distracted lately.
Plus, after a full day of rest Fluffy is almost back to normal. I would like to think I¡¯m sorry about what happened but the purple stripes make him look so much cooler than before. I¡¯ve resolved to cook him some food a little every week, not too often or he¡¯ll get spoiled from my cooking but hopefully I can give him a few more colorful stripes. Maybe he can get all the colors of the rainbow, that would be so pretty. Still what was I going to do, oh yah Mr. Nimbus¡¯s lecture.
¡°Fluffy your coming with me to school today. Mr. Nimbus is teaching us about some of the various rare and uncommon classes today. He¡¯s a priest and a scribe so he knows a ton of stuff. Sometimes daddy mumbles that all he ever does is read and pray, that means he must have read a lot of stuff.¡± Fluffy just looked at me and then went back to gnawing on a carrot but I knew he was interested. He eats slower when he is full or interested in something I¡¯m saying.
¡°I really want a new class but daddy won¡¯t tell me how to get another one and made me promise not to accept any old common class. So that means I have to learn an uncommon or rare class to not get in trouble with daddy. You don¡¯t need another class Fluffy but I need you to come with me and help me decide.¡± Grabbing Fluffy I took off towards town, hopefully coming back to get Fluffy didn¡¯t make me late.
When we got to the school Ms. Woods was standing outside the door glaring at me. She just pointed at the door with a stern look and I slowly trudged through it hiding Fluffy in my jacket so she couldn¡¯t see him. For some reason I had the feeling Mrs. Woods would disapprove of him being here.
¡°You¡¯re late.¡± Instantly my two friends Misty and Amanda mobbed me when I made it into the auditorium. We were having class here because Mr. Nimbus was addressing all the grades and not just ours.
¡°I couldn¡¯t leave Fluffy behind. What if being here helps him learn a new class. I need to get him another better class.¡± Misty just shook her head and Amanda sighed as I unbuttoned my coat and let him hop out. This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
¡°You know he¡¯s not smart enough to understand real words yet. His intelligence is too low and even if he was do you think the teachers will be happy if they see him here with you? They¡¯ll probably tell your dad and then you¡¯ll get tin trouble again like always.¡± Misty was nodding as she heard what Amanda said.
¡°I guess I¡¯ll just have to keep him hidden.¡± Fluffy grumbled when I stuffed him back in my coat but went along with it. I wanted to say I didn¡¯t get in trouble that much but even I knew how much more trouble my actions tended to get me in, it¡¯s a good thing dad is such a softie.
¡°Okay children, let¡¯s talk about some of the most well known uncommon classes and what we know about them.¡± Sitting up straighter I concentrated on memorizing everything Mr. Nimbus said and promptly got bored. So, I did the next best thing and started writing down about the classes that sounded interesting.
After Mr. Nimbus lecture was over and he went back to the temple I looked at my list. There were only three entries on it mainly because a lot of the classes he¡¯d talked about were magic and crafting classes. That¡¯s too hard right now, you have to read a ton of books to become a mage and even if I could sneak them out under daddy¡¯s nose it¡¯s more fun to go charging into things.
I looked at the top one which I surrounded by stars and couldn¡¯t wait to get the paladin class. Unfortunately, paladin was a third tier class in the knight class chain. Now it¡¯s time to become a squire and start my path to knighthood. Plus, this should be the easiest of the classes on the list to acquire. All I need to do is learn the riding skill, practice my swordsmanship, and get daddy, a knight to tell me to do some stuff.
Dad will praise me for being a good girl and doing everything he asks and I will get my new class. Looking at the other two on the list I frowned. Dungeon Delver was a nice class that offered points in almost every stat with an emphasis in perception but too get it you either needed to reach the core on the first time you entered a dungeon or spend over half your time in it for at least a month. I¡¯d already entered the dungeon once and there wasn¡¯t even the slightest possibility of me getting too spend that much time in a dungeon. Moving on to the next one I shook my head as well.
While it had some good points, it was too weak. Maybe if Fluffy still had an extra class slot he could¡¯ve learned the tracker class, it would of greatly help our chances of finding monsters and could have worked well with his predator class. Still Fluffy learned his poisonous beast class and it¡¯s a rare one so that means it¡¯s probably better. Besides, tracker is a highly specialized class and would add very little too him in turns of survivability. I smiled though thinking at what I¡¯d heard Mr. Nimbus say about ranking Fluffy up.
Apparently by learning the predator class he already qualified for the uncommon rabbit rank up, killer rabbit. Then if I can make sure he reaches level 10 in predator before anything else he can learn the rare class apex predator. So, no more carrots for Fluffy until he ranks up in predator. I could never stop petting and cuddling him and I have to slow his rabbit level ups somehow. Now I just have to learn the squire class before daddy figures out I¡¯m trying to do it.
Chapter 11: The First Dragons
Chapter 11: The First Dragons
Dungeon POV:
It¡¯s been a week now and I¡¯m finally ready to start on my third floor. Fletcher has been regularly bringing in a group of teenagers though not always the same ones each morning. Then in the afternoons I occasionally have a few stragglers or people wanting to blow off steam coming into the dungeon. So far it seems like I¡¯m doing a juggling act, if I give out too much loot I lose mana but if I give out bad loot people don¡¯t really care about coming very often.
In the end I just decided on making the regular monsters drop a regular monster drop while the bosses give a little extra. Killing a rabbit gives you either a rabbit pelt or a lucky rabbit foot, though the pink ones occasionally drop some kind of perfume called essence of love. The dove wyverns only drop a few of their feathers but I didn¡¯t really want to have to deal with anything else like dove meat or some such. The rose creepers drop flowers or a section of their thorny stems. While trolls drop one of three things a pair of troll leather pants, a large wooden club, or a vial of troll blood. Apparently, troll blood is some alchemy ingredient. The swan wyverns usually drop a pile of feathers but rarely drop one of those pink gemstones, they¡¯re called love gems.
For the most part I was happy but I was getting a bit stir crazy. I¡¯d been holding myself back from creating the first floor until I could make at least three rooms on it. That way my monsters would have some space to move around and I could create my next boss. Before moving my core down, I created a lover¡¯s apple in the troll bosses room, defeating every boss besides the first would allow someone to taste some of my amazing apples. Now it was time to begin expanding.

Dungeon lv. 3
+10 Evolution Points

Current Evolution Points: 10

I was grinning in anticipation of what was to come. My wish is finally going to come true, unfortunately it¡¯s not the one where I get a body and a beautiful busty elf falls into my arms ready for me to have my way with. Cough, well there¡¯s not a lot of stuff for me to do but fantasize about things and I don¡¯t even have a body to relieve the tension. I¡¯m basically an embodiment of sex, a love dungeon hello, but I still don¡¯t have a body. The tenth floor is looking so far away right now.
Still right now is about making dragons not bemoaning my rocky existence. I hurriedly grabbed a dove wyvern, pink but right now that didn¡¯t matter to me. Spending 2 evolution points I gave it the Wyvern (Un) class and it truly became a dove wyvern. After gaining the wyvern class the bird grew to over twice its former size reaching almost ten pounds. Its pink feathers grew almost iridescent and harder like true scales. The features slightly warped. Where before it was a bird with a few draconic features it became a true hybrid of wyvern and dove.

Next onto my true masterpieces. Seeing how well that worked out I grabbed one of my eldest swans a silvery female that had reached level 8. At level eight she was one of the highest leveled creatures before my troll boss showed up in the dungeon since only a few of the biggest rose creepers were level 8. She grew in size from her previous 40 pounds to almost 100 pounds and I had a feeling the males would be even bigger.
Her feathers grew thicker, harder, and more flexible. From her head a pair of slightly spiraling horns sprouted. While she still looked like a wyvern I had hopes that one day that would change. Maybe on the next rank up she would grow an extra set of limbs and become a true dragon.

The dragon dungeon has begun its rise. Beware it¡¯s might or perish in a fiery inferno. That¡¯s an idea I could develop a fire breathing trait but for now I need to focus on some other things. Like this new challenge room feature that showed up. I have a very interesting idea that the Goddess of Love would surely approve of and I want to see if it¡¯ll work.
A while later inside the dungeon I got a message and knew that it had been a success.

A baron huh, guess even this pink shell can¡¯t contain me. How many other players can earn the baron class? Not that I¡¯m sure I¡¯m really a player anymore. Lately I¡¯ve been having a bit of an existential crisis though it helps to focus on the monsters and what the adventurers are doing. Now, I guess it¡¯s time to see what the adventurers think of my new additions.
Wait, what is this woman doing by my core? How did she get in here? I don¡¯t remember any adventurers coming this far in today. The kids seemed a little nervous today and retreated as soon as they saw the troll boss. Let¡¯s check her status and see what¡¯s going on maybe she has some kind of stealth skill.
Oh, she¡¯s a dryad apparently. All my excess mana and the boons from the increased connection to the Goddess of Love must have sparked something in her. She had pale white skin with a slightly pinkish tint to it, her hair was a bright fiery red and besides her head she was completely hairless. At roughly 5 ? feet tall and with an hour glass figure she was a natural beauty. Why oh why am I still a rock?
Besides the new dryad in my core room a second one was also birthed from the second floor boss room. She was a couple inches taller and had a willowier figure but almost identical besides that they looked like sisters. My first dryad birthed from the lover¡¯s apple would stay in the core room. As her tree was confined to the core room she was one of the few monsters that could permanently stay and guard my core. For now, the other one would be part of my new challenge room.

Captain Clifton POV:
God I¡¯m exhausted. With all the new changes with the dungeons lately there¡¯s been more paperwork than ever that needs to be filled out. I¡¯d never thought that one dungeon could have such a big mountain of paperwork that needed to be filled out and with two of them I¡¯m positively buried in work. Then there¡¯s the need to have guards posted near each of the dungeons to ensure no trouble makers or little kids get into them. The guard is spread thinner than ever and working almost everyone is working double shifts a couple days a week.
Besides all the guard and dungeon issues, I really need to figure out what is going on with Ashley. My daughter is acting way too good lately, she has to be hiding something from me. I wonder if she found a boy she likes? Nah, any boy would be too scared of her to get close to her, she¡¯s a real monster compared to the other children. I really need to figure out she¡¯s gotten up to. Hopefully it¡¯s not as bad as the cooking faze, I shuddered thinking about that dark hellish month, I gained five levels in basic poison resistance. I was only lucky my constitution was high enough to survive her monstrous creations. I think one might have even been a slime, something about Ashley and the kitchen spells disaster.
My thoughts are interrupted by Fletcher walking into the office. I wonder if there¡¯s any chance it isn¡¯t related to one of the dungeons, doubt it. My suspicions are confirmed as soon as he opens his mouth.
¡°Sir some of the boys from town were heading into the dungeon when they saw something strange. From what I can gather after listening to their mumblings there was a sparkly pink statue or something to the right of the dungeon entrance. I suggest we go check it out.¡± Of course, it is related to that dungeon, it causes over twice as much trouble as the goblin one.
As we headed out to town though we were stopped by an ecstatic Edgar. He was positively beaming with joy. This can¡¯t be good I thought.
¡°Our town has finally been blessed with a true altar of the God of Storms. I was doing my morning sermon and daily prayers when I felt his presence descend over the area. Now we have a true church and anyone who is devout can go to the altar to receive the priest of storm or weather mage class.¡± Oh shit, I think I know what that pink thing the kids were talking about is. It¡¯s most likely an altar to the Goddess of Love. The God of Storm bestowed a true altar on the village because he¡¯s fighting the Goddess of Love for followers. This town is going to get hectic pretty soon.
¡°That¡¯s great Father, you should spread the news to the townsfolk. I¡¯m sure they will all be glad to hear it.¡± I have to keep him from finding out about the possible altar for the Goddess of Love at least for now. How did I end up in the middle of this?
As soon as we got close to the dungeons entrance I could already tell it was a true Altar of Love. The centerpiece was a life sized statue of a beautiful woman out of pink gemstone. On each side it was sheltered and surrounded by white marble statues. Behind it was a pair of something similar to the swan wyverns we¡¯d seen in the dungeon but bigger, with a regal air to them, and a pair of spiral horns. The statue seemed to be sheltered under their outstretched wings. At the woman¡¯s feet was a pair of white stone rabbits while clutched between her clasping hands was a stone rose. This was definitely a true altar to the Goddess of Love, now where are the guardians.
As we approached the crevice that held the statues and the altar we walked between a pair of enormous apple trees there branches ripe with fruit and they stepped out of the wood. A pair of dryads, or no hamadryads I guess since they seem connected to the trees.
¡°This is an Altar of the Goddess of Love mortal. Those who do not show faith in her may not approach.¡± Well that explains why we couldn¡¯t see the guardians. They were the trees or the trees were them, all this stuff with dryads and hamadryads is just confusing.
¡°We are sorry for intruding on this holy space, come on Fletcher let¡¯s go.¡± I led Fletcher off to the side and into the dungeon proper. We definitely did not want to get in a row with a pair of guardians. Out of the entire town besides me only Smith Paul could probably handle one of them one on one. I could kill the one if I had to but with two of them I wasn¡¯t confident on my odds especially in a place empowered by the Goddess of Love.
¡°Sir those were both level 50 if you count the totals for their classes. What do we do if someone pisses them off?¡±
¡°You don¡¯t have to worry about them that much. A guardian is created and bound to do one thing only protect the altar. They can only intervene in outside affairs when a majority of their follower¡¯s lives are at risk and even then, it is not all the time. Still it worries me that there are two of them. An altar only has one guardian so obviously the altar in the dungeon became a true altar as well. I just hope that neither the Goddess of Love or the God of Storm get the idea of creating a temple here. With three altars consecrated to a specific deity a temple can be formed but gods take great offence when their altars are attacked, destroyed, or converted to another deity.¡±
Chapter 12
Chapter 12:
The dungeon had formed a third floor but right now my focus was on something else the challenge room. Not every dungeon has them but starting at the third floor they can be present. Turning to Fletcher I nodded my head. As one of the highest level in the town and the captain of the guard at that it was my duty to make sure these challenges aren¡¯t unbeatable. While some dungeons have challenges that are practically lethal to everyone who enters most of them can be overcome with sheer strength.
Dungeon challenges come in three forms: knowledge, strength, and task completion. Knowledge tend to be the easiest and least deadly, a person has a chance to solve a puzzle or a riddle in exchange for a treasure. They can only be completed once a day though usually because the reward and challenge periodically change. Strength challenges come in to types the ones who are a set level and the ones whose level scales to the level of the entrants, in both types a person or party must kill a monster or small horde of monsters. The ones with a set strength are deadly to any low level adventurers who attempt them while anyone can succeed at a scaling level challenge. The last type is the most diverse, they require a person to complete a trial or be forever trapped. They can range from anything from surviving for a week to mining a dozen rubies in under an hour, it could be anything from taming a wild wolf to retrieving a key from a vat of acid. Trial challenges were often considered the worst type of challenge but it all depended on the trial.
¡°I¡¯m going to enter the challenge room you can come with me if you wish or stand guard, if I don¡¯t come back you¡¯re in charge Fletcher.¡± He looked a little stunned at the last part but he was my best guard.
¡°Like a low level dungeon could take you down Captain. Besides I would never have the balls to break the news do your daughter if anything should happen. I¡¯ll go with you we¡¯ll both go down together if anything happens.¡± Sighing at his stubbornness I stepped forward and laid my hand on the pink gem that allowed me to start the trials. Surrounding the gem were four white stone doors each with a different carving. Starting left to right they were the carving of a man and women holding hands, a tree, then on the other side of the gem was the carving of a troll, and lastly a rose.

God, I hate this it doesn¡¯t sound like a strength type trial so it must be either a knowledge type or a trial type. That name suggests trial but with the vague riddle like words to describe it, it could be some kind of knowledge trial. After accepting the trial, the door with the tree opened and I felt myself moving towards it compelled to enter the door I hate doing challenges. This compulsion to finish them once you start is horrible.
I walked into the door and glimpsed her. She was beautiful pale whitish skin with a faint blush to it, her hair was like a burning flame, and best of all she was naked. Shit, I have a feeling I know why this is called the trials of love. As the door closed behind me I could feel the air charge with sexual tension, my inhibitions started slipping away and I just gave in to the ever pressing urge.
Waking up I found myself on a bed of leaves the dryads body draped across mine. As I grew more alert I found myself shocked at what I¡¯d done, what I¡¯d done multiple times yesterday and last night. Every time we stopped she would feed me and apple and then it just started all over. I have to get out before I get trapped into a never ending cycle, do I have to really. This is heavenly, I never knew a creature like her could exist but still there¡¯s Ashley. Oh shit, I¡¯ve left her on her own for a whole day. I hope she didn¡¯t burn the house down she¡¯s got to be so worried.
As I slowly laid her to the side the dryad woke up. She looked at me leaving with a tinge of regret and for a second, I almost considered staying but it would never work. I had to many duties in the village. Still this trial had relieved a lot of the stress that had been building up in more ways than one.
Looking around I saw Fletcher sleeping on the ground though his face and arms were all scratched up. Did he fall in a rose bush or something? Nudging him with my foot I woke him up it was time to leave the dungeon. The rest of it could wait till I dealt with whatever trouble my daughter had gotten into.
As we left the dungeon I asked Fletcher how he got so scratched up. He blushed, I couldn¡¯t believe it and said he¡¯d entered the trial after me when I didn¡¯t come out after an hour. Apparently, he went through the rose door which held some kind of rose plantkin, she was a little rough in the sack apparently. In more ways then one I think since Fletcher walked with an awkward gate as we headed to town. So that means each of the four doors holds a different creature or maybe not. The first door should be the couple¡¯s door since to people can apparently enter at a time, I thanked the gods I hadn¡¯t decided to enter with Fletcher. That was one experience I didn¡¯t need. I had a feeling this challenge might become the town brothel though on second thought the last door had the depiction of a troll and with no way to choose which door that was a hell of a gamble.
When I checked my status, I noticed that like the dungeon said I had been changed, my night with the dungeon gave me 2 charisma. I found out Fletcher got a point in constitution and one in charisma from his trial with the plantkin.
Rewrite
I will be rewriting the novel. It''s lacking in detail and I want to flesh out the concepts in it. I have totally glossed over his interaction with the AI and dungeon aspects of the book. I have an idea for the first book but it''s almost finished and there is less than 100 pages. I will greatly expand the chapters and do a complete reword. It''s my hope that one day it will be a publishable novel. I''m sorry everyone but right now I don''t have a timeline for the rewrite.Did you know this story is from Royal Road?
