I was the only one with an actual sword, the others had pitchforks, sickles, hammers and many more. We were units waiting for to spawn. We were units without a face and personality. We were nothing more than three food and one gold coins. And the door opened, we all got up at the same time and got in a line, there was a man waiting in front of the door he was blocking the door with his arm, he had a watch in his hands, he clicked it every thirty seconds and a person passed through the gate and my turn came. I walked out to an unknown world and started to walk to the squad of peasants. We were in some kind of Castletown and our leader was in the castle, probably looking at us from his office and after there were fifty of us, we were ordered to walk and so we did. We didn''t have a choice, we were all just units that just spawned a couple of minutes ago. The map was a simple map, it was a square map and each corner had a leader and their base, we were in the bottom right and our color was green. We were heading to the bottom left base and we encountered a squad full of red peasants. Our leader gave us the order to attack and so we did. Left attack, right attack, dodge, front attack and back attack. These were the abilities that the peasants could use and I was able to kill three peasants in a fifty versus forty fight and then the order came to retreat, we were losing somehow, we started to run but then another order came telling us to fight again. We stopped and turned back to attack the enemy, I was about to perform a front attack with my sword but a red peasant with a sword performed his ability before me. He slashed my face and I fell to the ground, my health was very close to zero and then a light from the skies hit me, I could feel everything changing. I was able to turn my head around, my green peasant outfit was gone, it was turned into a knight armor with a green cape. I looked at the red peasants. I didn''t understand what was going on and then I saw a water pond, I walked to it to see my own reflection and there I saw a young man with dark blue hair and light green eyes looking at me. He had a huge sword scar on his face and looked really terrifying, I realized that young man was me. A huge smile appeared on my face, I started to laugh with happiness. "I am a special character! I am a leader! I am Edvius the Scarred!" I raised my sword and the green peasants started to yell. "Edvius the Scarred! Edvius the Scarred!" But my happiness didn''t last for long, a simple notification was enough to ruin this moment. It was like a rich man''s office. I noticed there was a person sitting on the chair behind his desk. His chair was looking outside so I couldn''t see the man, I slowly started to walk to the person and then I heard a child whining. "They cheated! We said not to use main characters!" The person crying was the person sitting on the chair, it was a child with blond hair and blue eyes. He noticed me and wiped his tears, he put up a prideful smile on his face and started to talk to me. "You! Do you know who I am?" The child pointed his finger at me. "I don''t?" "You should! I am your leader!" "Y-You are the leader? A child like you?" I couldn''t believe the leader that ordered us was a child, this child was the cause of everything "I am not a child! I am nine years old! And you are my very first special character! What was your name?" "Edvius the Scarred" "Oh because of your scar! I see! Now, I need to explain what is going on!" He turned his chair and pulled a paper from the drawer, he started to read it. "You are now a special character, that means you have a soul that you possess. The person that is reading you this is your clan''s leader. This game was created by gods and still managed by gods. In this world, units can''t experience death but special characters such as you and your leaders can experience death so be careful with your actions. In this world, the winner takes everything they want, be sure to not lose." He said. "W-What?! What is the point of playing this wicked game made by gods?!" I yelled in despair. "Every clan have their own objective, my father was a peasant unit like you but then he became a special unit. He created this clan to save everyone from this wicked game. But some clans like Helvius wants to conquer everything and become gods." He was about to cry but he wiped his tears and stood up on his chair, his height barely passed mine. He put his prideful face and yelled at me. "I, Arthur von Vekiunorhen, the leader of the Sheeps Clan and the youngest leader order you to swear your fealty to me!" I had a feeling that I could simply ignore this kid and leave but the look in his eyes was absolute, this kid was a man worthy enough to become my leader, I bowed down. "I, Edvius the Scarred swear my fealty to you" And so my days of babysitting a leader in this wicked game of strategy begun. Five versus Five Many days passed and I learned about a couple of things such as the castle we currently lived in, each clan had their own castle but some castles were big small and some castles were quite big. I asked Arthur about this and he explained me the leagues. There were five leagues, the low league, the middle league, the high league, the grand league and the holy league. Sheeps Clan was in the grand league thanks to Arthur''s father and that was the reason we had a big castle. As we were walking to the kitchen to get some food, Arthur stopped. I turned to him, he looked very troubled. "Is anything wrong?" I asked. "I am just worried about our team in the next game. I don''t want to get a terrible team and drop from our league." "Next game? Drop from our league?" "Oh¡­I forgot to tell you. The next game will happen in one hour and it is a five versus five mode. If we lose that game our rank will drop to the high league. So you must win no matter what." I wasn''t going to refuse a child, I smiled and patted his head. "Don''t worry, I will surely win." After one hour the teams were decided, I walked into a small chamber and waited to spawn. The moment came after a couple of minutes, I walked out of the main base and the game started. "Arthur build a militia quarter!" I yelled to Arthur, we couldn''t speak to each other but he was able to hear me. The building started and finished in five minutes. "Now, recruit forty peasants!" I walked to the door of the militia quarters, I stopped the first peasant that came out. "Your number is one and you are one remember that. Now get in line over there!" I gave the non-important units names, this made lots of things easier and after we reached forty, I started to yell at them. "Now! All of you are normal peasants but under my command, you will be knights! Each squad will have ten members and their lowest number will be their leader! One! Eleven! Twenty-one! And thirty-one! Step up!" Four peasants walked in front of me, they got in a line. "Squad one you will be scouting the area around us! Squad two you will be protecting the builders and the harvesters! Squad three you will act as a garrison, protect this place! Squad four you will follow me, we are going to gain some levels!" They started to follow their orders and we went out to hunt. In the manual, there were monsters in the map you had to kill to gain experience or special items. I was holding a compass and a map to find their locations, after walking for a while we encountered another squad that looting a dead bear. This squad was quite special, all of them wore a full-set knight armor while riding armored horses. Their leader was a female wearing a full-set golden armor, her horse also wore a full-set golden armor. For a second, I thought these were enemies but the female leader noticed me and started to wave her sword at us. We started to walk to them, I was being cautious just in case they turned out to be an enemy but I was wrong, their leader started to talk with a very friendly tone. "I am Beatrix the Golden Maiden from Elites. Mind telling me your name?" I was surprised at her friendly attitude against someone that she just met. "Oh! I am Edvius the Scarred from Sheeps." "Great! Now, we can hunt together. Your units need some experience by the looks of it." "Yes, they really do." "I know a couple of places that we can hunt, let''s go." After shaking our hands, our great hunt started. A Joker Card After hunting together for a while, my peasants turned into watchmen, they all wore leather armor and had swords. As we were walking to a hunting spot we noticed a dead skeleton on the road, she stopped and got off her horse. She started to examine the skeleton. "What is that?" I asked "A scout sent by The Plague Doctor. Lucky for us this was killed by a monster." "The Plague Doctor?" "Yeah, that is one hell of a fellow from Velko Clan. He can create zombies out of dead units and can spawn skeletons like this. If you see a man with a black robe and a plague doctor mask, just run. There are even some rumors that say he killed his leader and made him into a puppet. Well, this shouldn''t ruin our mood, we are quite close to the orc''s cave!" She hit my back and started to ride her horse to the orc''s cave. Her squad was way faster than mine and when we reached the cave, they were already fighting the orc. It was a huge orc with two heads, she and her squad was running in a circle to distract the orc. "This slow idiot can''t catch me! Get your units ready and attack it!" She yelled at me, this was going to be my first big battle as a leader. I drew my sword and rushed at the orc''s legs. I was able to cut them both of with a slash skill and the orc fell to the ground. My units finished the orc while he was on the ground. After the battle, a couple of my units got upgraded to veteran watchmen, basically watchmen with better equipment and skills. "This was easy," I said. "It is always easy with two parties!" Units fall back to the base!" My units started to run for the base and I went inside the cave, I was expecting the chest to be hidden but I was wrong, it was in the middle of the cave. I crouched down and slowly opened the chest, there was a single piece of paper and I started to read it. "You have obtained the traitor card, you will betray your team and join the other team. What is this?" [Sheeps have changed sides] The moment, Sheeps changing sides were announced. I felt a strong bloodlust behind me, I saw something was coming down on me and so I rolled to the wall. I looked up and I saw Beatrix holding two swords and looking at me with saliva drooling out of her helmet. I was shocked for a moment and then I realized we were now enemies but that wasn''t the end of it. "S-So you lured me here?" I asked while panicking. "Does it really matter anymore? Just stay still and let me kill you." Her friendly tone turned into a dark tone, everything about her changed in a second. She was completely a different person, her eyes were not the same, they looked at me like I was an easy prey. I looked at my sword, it was near the chest and I jumped to my sword but the moment I got my sword Beatrix stabbed me in the back. I fell to the ground in pain, she turned my body and got on top of me, she started to count. "One finger, two finger, and three finger. Ah! There is it! Your artery!" She stabbed my throat with one of her swords and started to count more. "One finger, two finger and three finger. I found your heart as well!" Her second sword pierced through my heart, she got up and started to wipe my blood off her golden armor. "Well, I need to go now. If you die I will get your experience no matter where I am so." She got on her horse and left, I was left alone in that cold cave. I started to get sleepy but I tried to resist the urge to sleep but I lost the fight, I slowly closed my eyes and everything went dark¡­. "Wake up." A terrifying voice ordered me to wake up, I opened my eyes and saw a dark figure standing right next to me. This dark figure wore a black robe and a plague doctor mask, I instantly reached for my sword but he stepped on my hand. "I am on your team now. You were resurrected by me, you should be grateful." He said, this plague doctor was on my team now, I was lucky to be alive. There were two things for sure, I wasn''t going to die anymore and I was surely going to get my revenge on Beatrix.
