    A shadow stood amidst the darkness; all of a sudden, a hand clicked the mouse and the radiance from the computer illuminated his face.


    Scarlet pupils, shark-like fangs revealed by the slightly opened corners of the mouth, pitch-black hair, appearance of 20 odd years, and pale skin were reminiscent of a Vampire.


    The owner of this room was named Lu Qiu F. Akart; this strange name wasn¡¯t given to him by his parents.


    ¡°Slightly hungry.¡± He ground his teeth between his parted lips, issuing piercing sounds.


    Because the owner of this room was a Vampire ¡­ who was surviving in the 22nd century.


    ¡°Sure enough, this world ¡­¡± Lu Qiu clicked on the constantly emerging dismal messages about the world in the computer¡¯s interface, ¡®nuclear weapons¡¯ ¡®environmental destruction¡¯ ¡®racial discrimination¡¯ ¡®wars¡¯ and ¡­ ¡®massacre¡¯.

    As the last Vampire, Lu Qiu was always ostracized in the human world. He always had to rack his brain to hide his identity, so that he wouldn¡¯t be nailed on the cross and incinerated into cinders.


    That¡¯s how his younger sister was killed by a human mob.


    Yells like <kill that monster> were naturally used to deprave Lu Qiu¡¯s relatives of their lives.


    Flames, blood and a young girl¡¯s mournful cries; no one showed any mercy to a monster.


    His younger sister had never harmed a human; nevertheless, that mob pinned the title of ¡®monster¡¯ on her and ruthlessly burned her to death! Humans had never accepted the unknown.


    Ever since he witnessed that scene, Lu Qiu had an undisguised hate towards humanity.

    Humans were already rulers of this world, and Lu Qiu had no power to resist them.

    And in movies, it was quite the common trope for the human civilization to be destroyed by a Zombie virus.


    But Lu Qiu wasn¡¯t impetuous, and kept listening to the suggestions of the System.

    The t-Virus originated from the famous movie Resident Evil ¡­ the Zombies infected by this virus had a low evolution ability. Only after being stimulated through special methods, could they evolve into strongerZombies; such as Licker, Tyrant and so on ¡­


    The Blacklight Virus originated from the game Prototype, it was also a virus which could turn people into Zombies. But the life forms infection with the Blacklight Virus were more destructive and aggressive than those infected with the t-Virus! They were stronger and evolved faster!


    The viral organism which was infected with the Blacklight Virus, Mother, and was killed by Prototype¡¯s MC Alex Mercer, was an immortal being.


    This human world should not be trifled with. As a Vampire, Lu Qiu was clear about it. They not only had firearms but also had ¡®Exorcists¡¯ and ¡®Espers¡¯ specialized in dealing with monsters such as Lu Qiu.


    They were the reason why Lu Qiu had to hide in this small room, not daring to go out.


    After pondering for a moment, Lu Qiu chose to stake it all, and redeem all of his Despair Points for a vial of the advanced Blacklight Virus.


    An ice-cold metallic container with a swaying red liquid.


    Lu Qiu felt its pressure while tightly holding the container in his grip.


    This is the capital of my vengeance!


    Lu Qiu didn¡¯t rushed out to release the virus, but instead kept studying the System.


    ¡°Despair Points, what is it about? What are their benefits?¡±


    <The power absorbed from life forms which fall into despair and die is the foundation for the Host to destroy this world.     In order to understand humanity, Lu Qiu wouldn¡¯t ignore their fantasy products; such as Hellsing, Resident Evil, Saya no Uta, Elfen Lied and other works of the horror genre. He had also touched upon some anime, games and movies from other genres. In short, Lu Qiu had sufficient fantasy to destroy this world.


    It would also allow one to evolve? And could even turn one into a Vampire Ancestor! Reaching Cain¡¯s level.<sup>1</sup>


    Hah ¡­ Lu Qiu once more covered his mouth; the corner of his lips were cracking into a bigger and bigger arc.

    The development of science and technology, and the powerful Powers became the subject of grooming for each each country.


    It¡¯s not Lu Qiu¡¯s business.


    ¡°Whew.¡± Lu Qiu walked away from his small room, which was on the roof of a shabby residential building, in the slums of the New China Federation¡¯s Wenhan City.


    Lu Qiu had no choice but to hide here, because of his identity of a Vampire, as the Church¡¯s Exorcists run amok for ages, he was always a target to be killed.


    How much was the bounty that the Church offered when it listed Lu Qiu as wanted?


    A full 700,000 of New Federal Currency.


    Even for the most fiendish criminal, the bounty won¡¯t be more than this.


    Lu Qiu is clear about what kind of end his kind will receive when captured by the Church¡¯s Exorcists.


    He himself doesn¡¯t has any power ¡­ and so, he could only watch his little sister being burned to death by the Church.


    Now ¡­ there¡¯s no need to continue hiding.

    ¡°So cold.¡± Lu Qiu on the roof, once again looked at the distant glimmering lights of the city. He exhaled another breath which condensed into a white mist, as it was now deep winter. Lu Qiu was only wearing a piece T-shirt and a pair of jeans as he directly went out.


    On one hand impoverished, on the other hand, Lu Qiu as Vampire fundamentally doesn¡¯t has any body warmth.


    His blood ¡­ has long since been frozen without any warmth.


    After the System¡¯s strengthening, Lu Qiu felt that his body already reached an ordinary Vampire¡¯s level.

    ¡°Tch!¡± After the meal, Lu Qiu threw the woman¡¯s body to the side, and spit out the rests of the blood.

    There¡¯s no ¡­ way to compare to an Ancestor, this formidable Vampire.


    Lu Qiu went towards the dam with an expectant mood.

 Chapter 3

    3 ¨C Shouldering the Title of the Avenger


    The dam was guarded by New China Federation¡¯s soldiers.


    Lu Qiu felt like it¡¯s going to be dangerous to go there.


    Being shot by bullets would still hurt like a bitch, even with a body three times more powerful than a human¡¯s.


    At the moment, Lu Qiu was hiding in the woods near the dam, observing the distant dormant steel beast that was Wenhan City¡¯s dam.


    In the surroundings of the dam were large quantities of lamplight scouting the dark night, from time to time, armed patrols could be seen.


    The reason why there was a barracks stationed near the city, was mainly because of the currently turbulent state of the world.


    Since WW3, technology had a rapid growth. Things like the Exoskeleton Armor and Lasers have an extensive applications in wars.


    Perhaps in a few years even Gundams would appear, although it would be ridiculous in the real world.<sup>1</sup>


    However, wearing the presently strongest war equipment, the Exoskeleton Armor, truly has s bit of a Gundam feeling.


    The city seems to have something worthy of protection for New China Federation to employ heavy artillery, adding to the perennial flood of the upper reaches of the river. If somebody were to blow up the dam, then the city would experience a catastrophe.


    ¡°Damn it, there¡¯s no way to get there.¡± Lu Qiu bit on his finger while trying to find out the patrol patterns. As a nocturnal being, Lu Qiu can perfectly merge with the darkness, but to cross those several meters, adding on the pressure brought by overcoming the hundreds of thousands barbed wires, is simply impossible..


    Although Lu Qiu is a Vampire, yet he can¡¯t turn into a bat. As a low-level Vampire, beside his body being somewhat more powerful than a human¡¯s, there¡¯s no other specific ability.


    After Lu Qiu is capable of unleashing his lineage¡¯s potential, perhaps then will he be able of using the legendary magic and the like.

    Following them was a fatty clothed in an Officer¡¯s attire.


    Lu Qiu focused his mind on his Vampire¡¯s senses and was barely capable of hearing clearly what they were saying.


    ¡°Don¡¯t think I won¡¯t dare to kill you! Your wife followed me happily! Come back and you¡¯re dead!¡±


    Finished speaking, this Officer-looking fatty still kicked the man. The bruised man fell to the ground and then spit out a mouthful of blood. He was thrown out of the barracks¡¯ gate just like garbage.


    ¡°Hah, green hat?¡± Lu Qiu continued to observe the man. The man stood up while trembling, and then left the barracks with an ashen face.<sup>2</sup>


    Looking by the clothing style, the man should be a villager from the neighborhood.


    Within the New China Federation¡¯s barracks there are no female soldiers.
