    Two young men stood on a stage.


    One of them was roughly fifteen years of age. His name was Lie Wei Ying.


    His opponent wielded two sabers as he spun them around. His aura seemed be filled with feelings of profound insight that a young teenager shouldn''t have.


    The referee walked onto the stage and waved at the crowd. He looked at both the two talented prospects who were here battling for the countless treasures available if they won this battle.


    It was the final round, and only one boy could survive.


    "Begin!"

    In the bleachers like a small dot amongst hundreds of thousands of people, Lie Wei Ying''s mom yelled at the top of her lungs, "Slaughter him, and become a god, Lie Wei Ying!"


    She fidgeted in her chair as the battle began. Her boy seemed to grow up so fast, and look just like his dad.


    Her beloved husband who was slaughtered for whatever reason in the middle of the night.


    She was proud her son had made it up to this point. He looked so strong down there. He was already nearing the highest level someone his age could attain, and now all he had to do was kill that bird looking boy!


    "Don''t lose, Lie Wei Ying!"

    Lie Wei Ying spun two sabers as he moved around in an exquisite robe. He had been waiting for this fight all his life! He unleashed the countless hours of practice that came from battering the sand puppets outside of his village.


    It was a small village named ember village.


    However, even with all that practice he still wasn''t prepared.


    When his opponent lifted off the ground and floated in the air he gasped, this could only mean one thing! His opponent had taken the first step into godhood. And he, on the other hand, was still at the tenth stage of the step before that. Unfortunately, he''d his work cut out for him.


    He could draw upon his inner well, while the man he was facing could pull it in from the outside.


    A battle of a Qi Condensation cultivator, the beginning stages of someone with such a force named Qi, and the person who''d surpassed the first stages. The man who''d reached the foundation stage in the fifteen and under division. This man clearly lied about his age.


    "Hmph, you''re so pathetic it makes me want to spare you."


    Li Quang soared forward as a set of golden sabers floated in front of him on a string. He swung them around as they seemed to coil along an invisible snake. He crossed the small stage quickly.


    The referee stood back and closed his eyes.


    Lie Wei Ying, however, hadn''t given up hope. He took out his dad''s old swords and infused it with all the energy his body had to offer. Unfortunately, it wasn''t as much as it could be. His village was poor compared to where his opponent was from.


    His opponent came from a wealthy village whose name he didn''t even want to remember.


    It made him feel so disgusting even thinking about it.


    However, it didn''t stop him from unleashing his fury. He brandished his blades as the two golden swords sped towards him.


    He watched them come towards him as he leaned out with his blades and tensed his muscles. It seemed like his arms turned to pythons as he pushed off the ground cracking the cement floor. He looked at the man flying through the sky and immediately spun a few times in just a second. It carried him towards the head of his opponent.

    Lie Wei Ying kicked down at the opponent''s head as he felt like he hit a steel wall.


    However, it still caused his opponents eyes to swell with confusion.


    Why was his young opponent so strong?


    Regardless, he slammed down towards the ground as countless fragments of concrete flourished into the air like confetti.


    Lie Wei Ying huffed and puffed. He wasn''t expecting that to go so well.


    Clearly, his opponent had underestimated him, and it wouldn''t happen again.


    The referee, also surprised, scratched his head and couldn''t believe it. The boy, Lie Wei Ying, seemed like the perfect candidate for the reward. Even at the ninth stage of Qi Condensation he sent someone a rank above him flying. If only he could have given him a treasure to save him from the poverty-stricken ember village, he would have surely won this battle.

    Li Quang rubbed the dust off his chin as he pulled a dagger out of his shoe.


    "You know I wasn''t going to slaughter you like a pig. However, now I think I''ll peel you in front of the entire audience."


    Lie Wei Ying just laughed. "Ha, you can try, you dumb bird." People from where his opponent came from hated being called birds. However, it wasn''t his fault the man had little wings on his back. Worse, they were completely useless, and a genetic thing of his people. Well, it didn''t help Lie Wei Ying quell his fury, or get another chance at revenge.


    This time a 100% angry foundation stage cultivator flew towards him, and he just sighed hoping when he was reborn this time, his new family would love him just as much as his mom this time. He very much loved this lady, and hoped if the universe was kind it would give him the chance of being her son again. However, what were the odds of that?

    His mom, Wang Yi, bit her nails in her seat in nervousness. She saw her son smiling back at her as she wiggled in her seat. At this moment, she could no longer hold back, and soared from her seat as hundreds of hands behind her tried to keep her from approaching her son.


    She, too, was at the foundation stage. However, she was much stronger than Li Quang there.


    Unfortunately, a chain shackled around her neck as she was yanked back to her seat.


    Lie Wei Ying smiled at her, and faded from his spot on the edge. He had a tiny bit longer to look at her there. It was quite a nice feeling to see her. However, he still had a shot at winning. The angry man approaching him didn''t look very sane right now.


    "Whoosh!"


    All of what seemed like an eternity only took a second. Lie Wei Ying flailed out his hands as countless small knives shot out of his hands. They clashed into the angry golden swords of Li Quang as he approached.


    "Die!" Li Quang screamed.


    Lie Wei Ying''s opponent flexed his hand as it seemed to condense tiny spikes that shot towards the approaching Lie Wei Ying.


    Lie Wei Ying spun off his feet and dodged the blasts.


    It was a challenging moment for the two of them.


    The deciding point on who would live and who would die.


    Perhaps if it was a different time things wouldn''t have been so bad for Lie Wei Ying. However, he still tried to make the last of his moments in this body worthwhile. It was either that or he just gave up without a fight.


    He slashed out his blade as a sword approached his throat.


    It was so fast and his opponent was so arrogant that he didn''t think much of the shoe barreling towards his face.


    Lie Wei Ying was spinning from the ricochet as it turned him in the air. A sword seemed to dip into his skin as he laughed at his shocked opponent.


    This year there would be no victor. A spike that was hidden in his shoe crashed into the side of his opponent''s skull.


    Slowly, they both fell towards the ground as blood dripped out of Lie Wei Ying''s mouth!

    "Winner Lie Wei Ying!"


    The referee screamed as a team of healers ran up to the stage and pulled out the blade stuck in Lie Wei Ying''s side. However, Lie Wei Ying could tell he only had a few moments left. He had died before, and would live again.


    "At least I''ll be reborn, you silly bird." Lie Wei Ying slapped his opponents head as a black sky seemed to call him to the other world.


    Lie Wei Ying''s mom burst out into tears, and ran up to hug her boy.


    He was the first person to ever beat someone above his level in this tournament. She hugged his body as the blood dripped onto her shirt.

 Back to the Beginning.

    "Ah, so you''re back again." A lady in black said. She seemed to blend into the black background as a long strand of gray hair coiled around her nearly imperceptible body.


    She looked at the soul of Lie Wei Ying. It was tragic this boy''s luck!


    Sometimes he''d reincarnate into a three-year old who was about to die in a car accident. Other times, he''d end up in a world where there was no food to feed his hungry mouth! Finally, it seemed like luck was on his side, and he got to become a cultivator.


    Lie Wei Ying nodded in his soul form. He had five lives left before that tragedy happened. However, after this when he was reborn he would have four.


    He prayed in his soul form that he wouldn''t respawn in a village about to get swallowed by an active volcano.


    It was another time on a planet called earth in a city called Pompeii. He was four years old, minding his own business, when a cloud of death left him buried underneath the ground. It was horrible!


    The lady in black was very familiar with reincarnators, and was pleased as she looked at the boy''s soul under a crystal. She''d seem to form it from one out of the souls floating along in the room.


    "Hmm, you seem to have four lives left. You are indeed a rare soul."


    She looked at the stone on the boy''s soul and appraised it like it was a fine jewel.


    "I hope this time don''t participate in any dangerous tournaments for a silly treasure. However, I wish you luck young man."


    Lie Wei Ying almost smiled. He really wanted to tell her thank you, but he had no mouth.


    The lady of death sighed and picked up his soul before squeezing it gently. It was as if she was hugging the nearly sixty-year old soul.


    Yes, he was so unlucky when he reincarnated, his oldest life was his last one at fifteen.


    "You''re going to need to thank me for this one, Lie Wei Ying."


    The lady of death floated over towards a doorway, and plucked a strand of hair off her head.


    "I can only do this so many times. Consider yourself lucky my young lad."


    She wrapped the hair around the soul and threw him into the door of reincarnation. With that one strand of hair perhaps everything would be different this time. Hopefully, he wouldn''t wake up in a car speeding ninety miles an hour this time, or something even worse.


    Indeed, it could get worse than that and he had the bad end of a lot of draws.

    Lie Wei Ying awoke the next morning in a small body.


    He could tell he was roughly three years old from his size. However, he was surprised by the familiar surroundings. Did he just reincarnate or go back in time? Something about this didn''t seem right. He was a kid again, and it was twelve years before him and that bird fought. He even heard his mom and his dad talking. Wait, his dad!


    "Dad," Lie Wei Ying said. He walked out into the other room and shocked himself when he heard his voice.


    This really was the same body. What the heck was that strand of hair?

    His mom, much younger and a whole lot less depressed, ran over towards him and pat him on the head.


    "Dinner will be ready in a moment sweetie."


    Lie Wei Ying smiled as he hopped up to his seat. However, when he jumped off his foot he noticed he felt as light as a feather.


    Did I retain my cultivation?


    He spun and landed in his seat as his parents looked at him weirdly.


    "Have you been practicing acrobatics boy," His father stared at his son. He always had a feeling his son was special, but now he was sure he had to take him to see the village head.


    Ember village was extremely poor, but they still had enough money to train one young recruit. Perhaps his son could be the one?


    "Ha, no I haven''t. I think I just got your genes dad!" Lie Wei Ying laughed awkwardly. It was kind of cute for a three-year old.


    His mom smiled as she brought over some food.


    Lie Wei Ying took up his fork and dug in. This seemed real and all, however, he would know when he tasted his mother''s food for sure.


    His mom was quite good at cooking, and there was only one person in the universe who could cook like her. It was possible this was an alternate dimension, but he had a feeling that it wasn''t. However, when he tasted the extremely odd but satisfying mixed vegetables he knew it was her. Yes, it wasn''t some other universe it was his last home.


    He wished he could thank that kind lady death who brought him here, and it was only proper to do so.


    The lady''s hair would never grow back, and she only had five hundred more strands for all of eternity. Whatever she saw in this little boy, he better use it in this life.


    The family ate at the dinner table together.


    Lie Wei Ying stared over at his dad. He realized this might be the same exact life as last time. In a way, this time it was more like he went back in time, then reincarnated. However, it wasn''t worth over thinking it. All he knew, at this moment, was that he was thankful.


    Regardless, he finally had a chance to save his father.


    "Dad, please don''t go on your trip in two days. I''ve been preparing a special event with my friends, and I need you to come," Lie Wei Ying said, "If you come I promise I''ll give you the best seat in the house."


    His father sighed and shook his head. "Your dad has to go son. If he doesn''t, your mom and I will lose this house."


    Wang Yi, his mother, nodded her head. "Dad has to go visit a couple of friends that night, and truthfully he''s doing it for you! So, unfortunately, your dad can''t be with you that day sweetie."


    Lie Wei Ying gulped. He realized since he was younger he couldn''t think as well as he used to. He tried so hard to come up with a plan, but all he could do was cry.


    "Dad, you have to stay with me, please! If you leave me, I''ll cry all day."


    Wang Lie sighed and pat his son on the head. "I''ll talk to the men tomorrow and ask them to delay the meeting. Now, unfortunately, me and mom are going to have to talk for a while. Can you go to your room Yinger?"


    Lie Wei Ying sighed and walked off without a word of argument.

    "You did what?" Wang Yi screamed


    Wang Lie sighed. He wasn''t going to tell her, but it was like his son had seen into the future. "Honey, it''s not what you think! It was to save my dad. What would you do if you were in my situation?"


    "Hmph, so you''re telling me your dad gambled away all of our money? Why the heck would you let such a thing even happen?"


    "I didn''t," Wang Lie tried to explain it to her. "He lied to them about owning this house. He was certain he would win the roll. The odds were seventy percent in his favor." Wang Lie regretted being that man''s son right now. Unfortunately, he had no choice, but to try and protect his dad by getting some money in a fight two days from now.


    "So, how are you going to get the money," Wang Yi asked, "You better not think about going back to one of those fighting establishments again?"


    He was. However, he lied. "Listen, it''s not that. I promised you I''ll never do that again!" Wang Lie sighed as Lie Wei Ying watched.


    If this was really all about money, then all he had to do was get some money. Wait, he knew so many things about the future this should be a piece of cake!


    "Mom, Dad!"


    Lie Wei Ying came out of the room with a smile on his face.


    "I think I saw something in the pond earlier today," Lie Wei Ying said. He had heard about a special treasure in the pond that was worth enough to buy ten houses. Apparently, in a few years it would be found by a lucky fisherman who would eventually turn to a life of pleasure after finding it. However, since he was reborn, what was wrong with using the knowledge of the future? The fisherman wasted it all on girls anyway! Apparently, he went broke after a few years and killed himself after a lady betrayed him and stole the nest egg anyway. He was left with a gorgeous son, but had to work on a ship again! He felt so bad for that man he had to steal the treasure.


    His dad just sighed. His son had such an imagination. "Honey, if you can bring that treasure before twelve tomorrow night, your dad will always be here to say thank you."


    Wang Yi didn''t like how that sounded, and punched her husband in the arm.


    "I promise you it will be a life saver," Lie Wei Ying said. However, he hoped it was as special as the fisherman described.

 The Treasure at the Bottom of the Lake

    "So, have you heard about the tale of the many deaths in these parts?" An old man steered a boat towards the middle of the pond. Lie Wei Ying shook his head. He was playing with his body, and testing his breath.


    "No, I haven''t. However, do you know the tree I''m talking about?"


    The old man laughed, "Of course I do! Your talking to one of the first men who fished these parts! Just give me a small token of gratitude when we get there."


    The young Lie Wei Ying nodded his head. It took almost five hours to talk an older man into taking him out here.


    "Stop," Lie Wei Ying screamed, "I think I see something!"


    He looked down as he breathed in and out. It seemed his Qi was slowly coming back to him.


    It was like the universe was returning it to him, and his little body already made its way up to the fifth stage.


    There were many ranks, The Qi Condensation stage, Foundation Stage, Golden Core Stage, Nascent stage¡­ His last life, it had taken him almost every hour of every day to make it up to the ninth stage of the condensation stage. Which, by the way was the max for all four of the stages he listed. They all went from level one to nine. However, judging by the energy in his belly. At this moment, he was roughly in the fifth stage of Qi Condensation.


    He leaped off the boat and seemed to jump roughly twenty yards.


    For a three year old to jump so far, it seemed like a miracle to the man on the boat.


    He splashed into the water, and swam down towards the depths.


    All around him in this beautiful lake there was different colored fish. This lake was called the seven colored waters, and it was named that for a good reason. All the fish in the lake were one of seven colors, and they glimmered as the sun bounced off them.


    Then he saw it. The shimmering chest at the bottom of the sea.


    The fisherman would have never guessed this would happen. In a way Lie Wei Ying was savng him from a tragedy. He swam down towards the waters and neared the chest. It looked like he had found exactly what he wanted.


    A beautiful velvet chest was there, and it shined with a light of treasure one could only see beneath the surface.


    From above, you''d think it was a series of fish nestling together. It was the reason why the treasure was safe for all these years!


    Lie Wei Ying peddled his feet as he torpedoed over towards the box and opened the lid. The next moment he floated to the surface with a smile on his face. The boat was right next to him, and the old man was smiling.


    "Ah, I see you found what you were looking for?" He laughed with a menacing tone in his voice.


    Lie Wei Ying nodded and used one hand to flip up onto the boat.


    "Yes, I did. Now take me back to shore, here." Lie Wei Ying flipped the promised silver coin of payment at the man who quickly caught it and put it in his pocket.


    The man smiled. "Please take a seat boy. I''ll get you back as quick as I can."


    The old geezer sat back and smiled at the boy. "This should only take a moment!" He picked up both oars and looked at the coast which seemed to be almost a mile away.

    Lie Wei Ying gulped. The old geezer wasn''t who he said he was.


    He jumped off the boat and used all his Qi to jump a hundred yards away. He gulped as he held the treasure in his hand. It was not a good day for him. He figured he''d just find some old man who knew the surroundings and have him take him here rather than look around for it for two whole days.


    This was a very large lake!


    However, he should have done it for his dad! Hadn''t he learned from all his past lives what his luck was like? He had died in so many ridiculous ways, and today a murderous fisherman was right behind him. However, this time he had something he didn''t have before. Especially in the lives before his last life. Suddenly, he seemed to reach the sixth stage of Qi Condensation, and then the seventh. The energy seemed to be channeled to him through another world, and he had no idea why.


    Indeed, lucky for him, the lady of death paid one more hair to expedite the process. She watched the first few days of this boy''s new life just to make sure he was okay. However, wouldn''t you know it. He almost died again on a boat ride, in the middle of nowhere, with a harmless looking old man snaking around his back.


    "Please don''t die young man!"


    She already invested two hairs in a boy. That was quite a lot.

    Lie Wei Ying''s aura seemed to transform as the man approached.


    The man, with a rather similar power level to his, pulled out a dagger and smiled greedily.


    "Ha, just give me the treasure kid, and I''ll let the fishes eat you alive!"


    Lie Wei Ying just smiled. He wasn''t going down without a fight!


    Water shot up into the air as Lie Wei Ying blasted to the bottom of the lake.


    The ripples seemed to separate him and the knife coming towards him. He held up the chest to block it. The knife collided with the velvet lining. And, the next moment, he grasped it in his little hand and shot up towards the man soaring towards him.


    "Hmph, you''re nothing but a fraud old man," Lie Wei Ying scoffed. He hated people who pretended to be someone they weren''t.


    Sparks flew off the edge of his blade as his knife and the old man''s knife skit against each other.


    Every few moments they would sink down to the bottom of the lake and hold their breath. Then, the next moment they''d hop back up and exchange moves. Unfortunately, they couldn''t walk on water yet. It required control of external Qi.


    External Qi allowed you to do things like to draw in power from around you, and use it to stabilize yourself. It was only available after the first step to godhood, which was when you became a foundation stage cultivator. However, at this moment, Lie Wei Ying was happy enough hopping and clashing his blade. Finally, as his opponent sunk towards the waters lining, he let the dagger loose.


    "AAAHH!"


    The old man spun before he splashed along the water. He spun along the top of the lake as blood sprinkled out of his shoulder.


    Lie Wei Ying missed the man''s head. It would have been more appropriate if he killed him except his arms were smaller then he was used to. He really intended to go for the final blow with that one.

    Two men sat down by a fire near the edge of the river.


    One of them was tied up and still bleeding, while Lie Wei Ying opened the chest to check what was inside of it.


    He was hoping for gold, and something extremely special. However, when he opened it all he saw was a box inside of it.


    "Congratulations on finding the Overpowered System!"


    Lie Wei Ying scratched his head. "What''s a system, and why isn''t there gold inside this box?"


    The system didn''t really know what to say. "Uhm, why would you be expecting gold? You wouldn''t happen to be a reincarnator, would you?"


    Lie Wei Ying scratched his head. "Why would I talk to something inside a box? He found this ridiculous."


    "You''ve found something very special called the overpowered system! A system is something that can grant you unimaginable power if the proper payment is granted. If you really do have lives you can offer, expect your power to grow to a level beyond even the tips of your imagination!"


    Lie Wei Ying wasn''t too sure about this. He immediately closed the box and walked over towards the man tied up. "Do you know what a system is?"


    He took down the mans bandana. "What are you talking about? All I see in that box is treasure?"


    Lie Wei Ying scratched his head and looked back at the box. "Nope there was definitely no treasure there."


    "Listen, if you''re wondering about why he sees treasure, it''s because it''s my only way of getting around! I can only get activated by someone who was extra lives"


    Lie Wei Ying shook his head. "Unless you can protect my dad, I''m sorry. I know where a lot of other treasures are."


    The system laughed in the blank room it was in. It was pretty much always in a blank room even when it had a master.


    "If you give me a test drive, there will be nothing you can''t kill."


    Lie Wei Ying nodded his head, and threw a dagger at the man in shock. The last thought he has was the boy who tied him up was crazy.


    The dagger landed properly this times between the villain''s eyebrows. He was getting better at his aim.


    "Congratulations you''ve been chosen by the mighty overpowered system. Would you be willing to trade one life for a test run. Y/N?"


    "Yes!"


    Lie Wei Ying made a brave decision that day. He vanished from the spot he was at.


    Even the system didn''t know exactly where they were going.

    Lie Wei Ying looked around trying to figure out where he was.


    "Uhm, System, where did you take us," Lie Wei Ying asked, "I don''t recognize this place?"


    The system didn''t respond. It also didn''t know where they were. However, it knew it was somewhere they could become more powerful!


    There was such thing as demon beasts in this world, and there were also dire beasts, and magic beasts. However, the demons usually gave good experience, and they usually lived in woods like these. The system had a good feeling about this!


    The system had its own consciousness, and it also had its own goals. However, it was too early for him to reveal what they were! Especially not now, at this moment, when there was an odd sound blowing away the trees surrounding them.


    Lie Wei Ying gulped. "Uhm, please tell me we''re not in a nest?" Lie Wei Ying looked around. There were lots of little eggs in the place where he landed. At first, he thought they were rocks, but when one of them started cracking he gulped and fell down onto the floor.


    "What have I done," Lie Wei Ying whispered, "I should have never given my life to a system!"


    He was once again going to die, and there was little he could do to stop it.


    He heard footsteps nearing him. There was atleast five of them, and they sounded very big.


    The system laughed proudly. "Hmph, if you believe in yourself kid. You''ll come out of here at a much higher level!"


    "The system has offered you the experience based cultivation method. Accept Y/N."


    "Yes!"


    The system has also come with one gift basket. Save for later. Y/N?"


    "Yes!"

    Lie Wei Ying sighed, and calmed down that terrifying feeling he had in his heart. A small egg popped up, and out jumped a cute creature. It almost looked like a little baby girl except it had a loud cry. Even worse, it was staring directly at Lie Wie Ying with a smile on its little face.


    Apparently, the baby thought Lie Wei Ying was its mom. And, even worse, the mother and father saw their baby running towards a stranger!


    Someone was trying to steal there baby!


    "The system has deemed in necessary to activate Overpowered (Beginner) to avoid imminent demise."


    "You have five seconds at a power stronger than you can imagine."


    Lie Wei Ying sighed and watched a countdown begin on his screen. It seemed like time slowed down. It almost seemed like the milliseconds were the seconds, and the seconds were the minutes. He never felt this strong before.


    "RAWR!"


    Five monsters ran towards him from all sides.


    He nervously fell back and stumbled onto the floor. They were all flying and glowing with their fangs drawn.


    It was beyond scary. It caused tears to burst out of Lie Wei Ying''s eyes.


    The system sort of started shaking himself except he really couldn''t. "Boy, believe in yourself! They''re nothing but experience points waiting to be devoured! Quick you only have 4.86 seconds left!


    Lie Wei Ying stood up and got on his feet. There had to be a weapon around here somewhere. However, the only thing he saw in front of him that even seemed remotely dangerous was the cute animal approaching him.


    He was in a dilemma. Should he use the child to kill its parents. That seemed so awfully cruel. However, there was also a big branch.


    It took him a moment to decide.


    Kill the parents with their daughter.


    Or use a branch to kill the girl-monster''s parents.


    He picked up the branch and flew off the tree. This was literally the craziest thing he had ever done.
