《The Big Bang System》 Death The last scene Angela remembers before her vision fades to black is that of her crying sister looking down at her from the boat. Yes, that was it, she remembers, she drowned, but if she drowned then why was she here. For that matter where was "here". Is this the so called heaven, she thought to herself. Sitting up Angela finds herself in a small wooden room with only one door, she is currently sitting on the only piece of furniture in the room: a small and worn out wooden bed. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere."No place to go except out." Angela remarks with a sigh as she makes her way over to the decrepit door and slowly pulls it open. The creaking noise the door makes almost matches the pace at which Angela''s jaw drops as she stares aghast at the scene, or lack thereof. An endless void stretches out in all directions. Using a colour to describe it would be lacking as it appears to be absent of colour but, to make it easier to understand, Angela decides that it is black. Still recovering from the shock a soft voice speaks out in her head sending her once more into a dazed state. "Big Bang System is initialising." Creation After the system initialises Angela notices two tabs have appeared in the top right side of her vision. Thinking back to the novels she read in her past life Angela remembers that this is quite a common trope, although usually these novels start in some sort of civilisation. Angela tries all the methods she remembers from the novels she read but after trying all of them she is nearly in tears as none of them work, she has tried willing it open, asking it to open, meditating and many other methods. Dejectedly sitting on the bed, a sudden idea comes to Angela, couldn''t she just point at it, as obvious as it sounds she can''t recall a single novel in which the protagonist had to do this. To her surprise, this actually worked, "I suppose it must look pretty silly" Angela remarks to herself before turning her attention to the newly opened tab labeled "general", this tab showed Angela''s stats as expected but rather than the usual qi, chi or energy the resource shown was called "anima" General Name: Angela Snow Age: 17Enjoying the story? Hp: 100 Attack: 0-1 Defence: 0 Stamina: 50 Cultivation method: N/A Cultivation stage: mortal rank 1 Anima: 10/100 (+0.1/h) Creation value: 1 The last stat was also new to Angela but as she didn''t see anything else she pointed at a little red X to close the window and turned her attention to the second one, labeled "creation". Once again pointing to open it a new window fills her view, this window has a few tabs down the side with plenty of room for more. The tabs currently accessible to view are "earth", "life" and "structure". Angela points at the earth tab and a couple new options pop up. 1m3 dirt: 1 anima 1m3 sand: 2 anima 1m3 clay: 3 anima ???: locked (reach 20m2 to unlock) ???: locked (unlock conditions unknown) Angela points at dirt and the window disappears while a small window appears in the top right, it reads "please select a location" with a little red cross in the top right, presumably a cancel button. Grumbling a little at the pointing system Angela went to point at the middle of the room but stopped, scolding herself, she was about to put a huge pile of dirt in the middle of her only room, she then went to the door, opened it up and pointed at the void next to her feet. Suddenly, a dirt cube spontaneously appeared, startling Angela, she didn''t know what she expected but she definitely expected the appearance to be less sudden, moments after the cube appeared, while Angela was still inspecting her new creation, a ding sounds out and a pop up appears along with a new tab next to general and creation. Achievement Get! Angela reads the pop up and gets visibly excited at the final few words, "achievement: my first creation, reward: +0.1 anima/h". Putting aside the new tab for now Angela quickly opens up the general tab to double check her reward. Name: Angela Snow ... Anima: 9.1/100 (+0.2/h) Creation value: 1.1 Along with the increase in anima rate Angela is surprised to see that the creation value has increased, presumably from placing the dirt, though she still doesn''t know the purpose of it and so pushes the questions she has about it to the back of her head. Remembering the new tab Angela goes to close general and open it up but is interrupted half way by a grumble, coming from her own stomach, Angela blushes despite the absence of other people however her expression of embarrassment quickly changes to one of worry as she remembers that she doesn''t have any food. She ponders for a moment before opening up the creation menu and switching to the life tab. Life:Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Choosing the soul fruit as it seems the most suitable Angela is surprised to see that rather than the placement popup she got with the dirt she instead has a window with a description of the fruit. Grade one soul fruit: One of the basic fruits grown in many Xianxia worlds, the soul fruit satiates both hunger and thirst with a beneficial effect to mortal rank cultivation speed. Despite its many benefits, the taste of this fruit leaves much to be desired and has even been dubbed "mud ball" by many cultivators. A soul fruit tree will yield one soul fruit per week at a consistent rate. To grow a soul fruit tree the seed must be planted in a 20/80 sand dirt mixture with the pointed tip facing downwards, it must then be watered 3 times a day with 1L each time until the tree reaches the hight of 3m at which point it will begin absorbing the heaven and earth qi to sustain itself. Mudball Although concerned about the description of the taste Angela still selected confirm as it was the most suitable source of food. a round, brown fruit appeared in Angela''s hand, it looked a little like a rotten peach and was slightly sticky. Angela shuddered at the thought of eating it but it had to be done, she scrunched her face up and tentatively took a bite almost spitting it out immediately after - the taste was horrible. It wasn''t just the taste that was bad but the texture too, the cultivators certainly named it aptly, it was akin to eating mud. Angela somehow managed to swallow the whole fruit down, despite the coughing fit she had after, leaving behind 2 small seeds that looked somewhat similar to sunflower seeds with a broad rounded end that tapered off to a pointed tip, Angela thought about planting the seeds now but as she currently had no way of getting water she decided to put them to the side instead. Hunger satiated, Angela now had two options, the first was to look at the third category of the creation tab while the other was to look at the third tab that appeared when she got the achievement, it was labeled "blueprints". Blueprints sounded like it would be complicated and time consuming so Angela first decided to check out the structures menu, hoping for furniture such as a table and a mirror, after opening the tab however, she was somewhat disappointed as the tab was much more simplified. The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Structure dirt brick: 0.1 anima clay brick (unfired): 0.3 anima wooden plank: 0.5 anima ???: (build a clay brick wall 3m long and 2m high to unlock) ???: (unlock requirements unknown) Sadly, no furniture was available from this tab causing Angela to be somewhat downcast as she thought about the three things unlocked in the menu, regarding the dirt brick Angela immediately discarded the thought of building anything with it right now as she was, due to her upbringing, very cleanly and hated getting dirt inside where she lived, never mind having where she lived be built out of dirt. As for the clay brick, the add-on of (unfired) suggested that in order to use it Angela would have to find a way to fire them first, she had read about this in books but had no practical experience of it. The last option was promising but, looking around her, Angela noticed that the number of planks required to build the shed she was in was quite high and thus at 0.5 anima per plank it would be very pricy to build with so she kept that thought for later. Blueprints Finally it was time to look at the blueprints tab. While Angela hadn''t had any professional training in blueprints and engineering she had taken the school course for it and thus had some idea of what to expect. She opens the tab and a window divided into three sections appears, on the left side was a list of all the materials she had unlocked so far as well as their costs per m3. Materials dirt: 1 anima sand: 2 anima clay: 3 anima wood: 5 anima On the right hand side was many of the tools Angela recognised from her course like the pencil, rule and eraser as well as the more complicated tools that are usually seen in professional software like her school used. In short as long as Angela could think of something she could probably make it using these tools. Angela pondered what to design, as a young lady naturally she cared a lot about her appearance and hygiene so the first things she thought of were the usual bathroom implements she was so used to, things like her mirror, hairbrush and toothbrush all came to mind but sadly had to be shelved due to a lack of suitable materials, Angela didn''t care for the wooden hairbrushes sometimes found in stores as they hurt her hair and she preferred the plastic ones. Next she thought of a sink and toilet which, despite her lack of knowledge about plumbing she could make a primitive version without plumbing or water. First she decided to make the sink. For this, as well as the toilet, the void surrounding her would actually be of use as It made for a great way to dispose of waste, Angela didn''t quite feel comfortable with the thought but decided on it anyways for lack of a better alternative. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it. Starting with the base Angela drew a wooden circle about the size of a bowling ball and used the extrude function to turn it into a cylinder. Next she hollowed it so that there was a hole all the way down to the bottom about the width of a tennis ball. After the base was complete all that was left was the basin. For this Angela made a sphere and then cut it in half vertically and horizontally leaving a quarter segment which she then hollowed, attached to the base and cut a hole to match the base. When she was done Angela stared proudly at her new creation for a moment and then clicked confirm to store the blueprint for later use, causing a new tab to open up on the blueprint window. Saved blueprints sink: wood, 4 anima As she only had 5.3 anima at this point and the toilet was more important to her she decided to hold off on the sink for now and instead went to design the toilet. The design for the toilet was similar to the design for the sink but with slightly different sizes. The main difference was in the seat, as well as the lid. both the seat and the lid were easy to make, however the hinge system that is usually used in modern toilets confused Angela and as such she decided that she would just attach the seat to the base and move the lid herself when she needed to, after all the reason for the seat moving was mostly for boys anyway. Saved blueprints sink: wood, 4 anima toilet: wood, 5.5 anima Angela let out a wistful sigh at the cost and waited for the last 0.2 anima she needed. It didn''t take long as it had been about 50 minutes since the last time she gained anima and so when she got it she selected the toilet and placed it in the corner of her room. Angela shrieks and kicks out at the flash, punting it into the void. As it''s falling Angela finally makes out its form, a large mouse about the size of a rat. The "demon mouse" had large, blood red eyes and teeth several times larger than its body size should accommodate, causing them to jut out of its mouth like a saber tooth tiger. It squeals as it falls, both the body and the sound fading into the void. Angela giggles a little at the absurd image but quickly focuses on the ding that follows. She knew that she had to take the knife out and quickly treat her wound in any way she could; she only had 50 minutes until the next mouse spawns. Slowly and carefully, Angela eases the knife out of her leg, wincing each time the teeth snag on her flesh. Hesitantly, Angela tries to stand up but she must have damaged some tendons as she is unable to move the injured leg. Instead, Angela eases herself back down and opens up the medicine menu though she frowns at the lack of options. Medicine: Leaf bandage: 0.5 anima blood restoration tablet: 1 anima ???: (unlock conditions unknown) ???: (unlock conditions unknown) ???: (unlock conditions unknown) Currently Angela didn''t want to go below 9 anima as that would require her to fight an extra mouse and so she decides to get two leaf bandages and one blood restoration tablet. Leaf Bandage: not the prettiest, nor the most effective, but its cheap and gets the job done. Primarily used to heal small wounds in a short timeframe but can also be used as a temporary measure until more effective methods are used. Restores 1 hp every 10 minutes, can only be used once per wound. Blood restoration tablet: a basic medicine used to recover blood lost during combat; also has a coagulation effect to prevent further bleeding. Be careful though; consuming too many can cause blood clots in undamaged areas causing thrombus and embolism. One time restoration of 5 hp to mortal rank practitioners, diminishing results as the user''s strength increases. Removes status effects: bleeding, anaemia. Angela applies the first bandage to her knife wound, fumbling a little due to inexperience, once she finishes wrapping around she realises that she has never thought about what to do with the ends of the bandage. She thinks for a second before deciding to just tie it into a bow like a shoelace. [bandage applied: hp regen +1/10 minutes] With her experience from the first one the second bandage is much easier to tie and Angela quickly finishes before moving on to look at the tablet. The tablet in question Is about the size of a thumbnail with a rose pink colour with a rough texture. Putting it in her mouth Angela manages to swallow the tablet, despite the lack of water to wash it down with. The taste was similar to paracetamol so Angela could handle it quite easily. The tablet gives off a feeling of warmth as it goes down, subconsciously loosening her muscles that were overly tense due to the fight. Only after she had treated her wounds did Angela leave the odd state she was in. The pain sweeps over her in waves and a nauseous feeling overcomes her senses. Bile rising up her throat Angela drags herself to the edge just in time to avoid the mess that promptly spills out of her mouth, dripping down into void. Angela coughs and vehemently spits out what is left and struggles to her feet, wiping her mouth; even the mud ball from earlier is preferable to this taste. With her nausea dealt with for now Angela returns her attention to the island, staggering towards the connection to her platform. She sees the body of the recently slain rat but quickly looks away, forcing the bile that is rising again back down. If she is to survive the remaining two waves with the little strength Angela has left she will have to find a different way of killing the mice. After pondering for some time Angela opens up the blueprint editor for the second time since it was unlocked. For her idea to work she would have to once again use wood. Though dirt is cheaper it doesn''t have the structural stability to be used for sections with small width. First Angela draws out a thin strip exactly one meter long and extrudes it to roughly waist hight; she hoped that the mice could not jump higher than that. Next she creates a hole in the board roughly big enough for one of the mice to fit through; this was necessary to restrict the path that the mouse could take without completely blocking it. The creation was only a thin plank of wood and Angela was sure that if given no path the mice would definitely be able to break through it. Angela saves this creation under "mouse hole" which had a low cost due to the small width. [mouse hole: 0.2 anima] Once the mouse hole was done there was three more steps for Angela''s plan to work. For the first step Angela takes the wood she cut out from the floor from earlier and whittles away at it until it forms a point, while it would be easier and faster to create it in the blueprint function since she already had the wood lying around she might as well use it to save some anima. Now equipped with the wooden stake Angela returns to the connection, places the impromptu wall and starts digging a pit in front of the mouse hole, groaning as her ladylike image was further ruined by the dirt getting under her fingernails. Once the pit had reached a depth of around 60cm Angela stopped digging and planted the stake into it, firmly securing it into place using some of the dirt she had already excavated. Finally she went back into the blueprint editor for one last time to make a very thin piece of wood slightly bigger than the pit. After using the strength test tool to make sure the wood plate could hold roughly 70% of the weight she estimated the mice to be she finished up and named it "trapdoor". Due to the thin nature of it the trapdoors cost wasn''t worth mentioning and it was quickly put into place, completing the trap. Now all Angela had to do was wait. Venting "+0.5 anima, total anima:9.8/100, hp + 11, total hp:93/100". Angela picks up the knife for hopefully the second last time and readies herself. the mouse''s snout pokes through the hole, sniffing hesitantly at the artificial construct. Sensing no immediate danger the mouse puts one foot through the hole, then two. The board underneath creaks, startling the mouse but, after seeing that nothing happened the mouse relaxes.
