《Shallow Waters》 Awakening Awareness In a cave full of water, an ancient artifact sits undisturbed and still upon the water. Slow, pulsating ripples emanated from it. If one was to describe this artifact, thenthey would say that it looked akin to a chalice or a goblet, made out of gold and engraved withintricaterunic letters that when read correctly stated the pervious owner¡¯s name;Alesteir. The artifact, once a wellspring of mana, slowly began to lose its power andlusterover the years. Incontrast however, thewater inthe cave as well as the creek that leads into it began to look clearer and cleaner. As the chalice was losing its last vestiges of power, the pace of the ripples that were pulsating were getting quicker and quicker. The water inside the cave no longer tranquil, instead it starting to rotate. At this point, a whirlpool was formed with the chalice at its center while waves of vast amounts of mana were still beingemanated rapidlyfrom the chalice. A quiet sound; which sounded much like a heartbeat, began to echo throughout the cave matching the frequency of the waves of mana. Soon this heartbeat started to grow louder and louder until it drowned out the sound of the churning waves inside the cave. Then all of asudden, the pulses stopped and the waters stilled. The once glorious chalice now looked worn and lacked any of the previous luster that it had previously. The chalice fell into the water and sunk to the bottom. While all of this was happening, theheartbeat was still proceeding at an accelerated rate until it too stopped suddenly. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road.
