《Journal of Justain》 My first entry Justain- God Fall 951- (Fifth month day 10) I left the house today with no real intention other than to make my way to a new town and see what they might have so that I can further my studies. Upon arriving in this new town I found myself in search of water and was directed by a not too friendly town guard to a bar in the middle of town. Once inside I found my way to the bar and ordered some water from the barkeep which seemed to upset him. While waiting for the drink i was apparently robbed by a local cutpurse. The doorman at the bar attempted to catch him but ended up just creating a minor disaster area of spilled drinks and angry clients. He was fired after these events and I was forced to exchange my pack for another that didn¡¯t have a hole in it. I lost about 20 gold pieces to that cutpurse. I will take measures to prevent that in the future. I think keeping a purse of 30 or so copper coins on my belt as a decoy. As me and the doorman a part human by the name Bix Bog walked out of the establishment we encountered a goblin named Razzle. (encountered is a polite way of saying I tripped over him). After exchanging pleasantries he asked me if the two of us would be looking for work. He also offered us soul contracts. Bix was not interested but I on the other hand had no objection to the offer and accepted. I signed the contract and in exchange for a small portion of my soul my rewards for completing jobs for the goblins is greatly increased by being paid in Glint and I enabled them to create another of these Souled goblins. Shortly after this we were approached by some gentlemen in stone armor with chains attached across the chest. World Binders no doubt to it. They were not so happy about my choice to help the goblins but weren¡¯t spoiling for a fight so we offered none. Rahzle had told us to meet him at the swamp gate the next morning to start our work for him. I needed some spell components and we went to a local shop Bix knew of to find them. Once we entered the shop, I immediately went in search of the materials I needed while Bix talked to the shopkeep, a nice enough older lady. He started acting funny and talking to her about cleaning up the shop then out of nowhere he runs down between some shelves and attacks some Unsouled goblins that were hiding there. Two of them came at me while he handled the other 3 in another corner. He made short work of them using his fists and handaxe. The two facing me weren¡¯t much harder to take care of with a little of the magic I have been teaching myself. I was injured in the fray but the shopkeep was helpful enough to throw a nature based healing potion of some kind on me. It kept me alive while I can¡¯t say much for the sensation it caused. The goblins all killed save one we were able to gather some small coin from the bodies and the shopkeep was forthcoming with some information once everything was settled. She said that some World Binders had been in earlier demanding assistance and when she refused they came back shortly after and left the goblins in her shop. Why the World Binders would be employing unsouled goblins I can''t understand except maybe trying to sow anti-goblin sentiment when they ¡°attacked the shop¡± and at the same time punish a shopkeeper for not paying for their ¡°protection¡±. The shopkeep was able to provide me the resources I needed and we handed over the live goblin to the town guard. The rest of the night was fairly uneventful. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Justain - God fall 951 - Fifth month - day 11 After some unpleasantness with Bix¡¯s landlord we were on our way to meet Razzle, we were informed upon meeting with him that we were searching for a ship that was his before God Fall. Why the goblin is looking for such an old heap I do not know but we are getting paid to find it. We journeyed into the swamp we encountered a few creatures but nothing we couldn¡¯t handle. Justain - Godfall 951 - Fifth month - day 11 I am making this entry a couple days after the events of the journal. We encounted a large creature of some sort by a cliff, it was more than we could handle and I found myself trapped and under attack by the creature near the edge of the cliff as Bix attacked it from behind. I lost consciousness. Justain -Godfall 951 - Fifth month - day unknown I awoke today to find myself and Bix in rough shape being taken care of by Razhle. The creature that we were fighting absolutely decimated by some means unknown to me. I suspect the goblin had some hand in it but I am not familiar enough with their weapons to accurately determine. We found remnants of its body and a large portion of scorched forest beyond it. Nearby we found the remains of another adventuring party after scavenging what we could from them including a spellbook from an unfortunate wizard and some stone gloves from another member along with various other trinkets we were on our way again. As we returned to Razhle the Ebony Star began to act up and it became obvious we were about to encounter some problematic things. We ran as fast as we could but were eventually overcome by the black wave that followed after the tentril¡¯s fall. We were hurriedly making for a village but two smaller apperiations appeared and we were able to fight them as ineffectual as we were and defeat them. A much larger apparition appeared and seemed to be able to warp the fabrics of nature in a manner unlike any magic I have ever read about. I became overwhelmed by it and according to Bix at one point I was babbling like some fool on the ground, while I don¡¯t remember this part, I do believe him. I passed out once again and that is the last I remember before waking up in the snow. How we escaped the creature and how we ended up on this Silt so far from the Bowl, I can only guess. Second Entry Justain -Godfall 951- fifth month- day 16 I awoke in the snow next to Bix, I was staring up at the sky to see the vessel where I last remember us being. How did we get here? Bix was unclear with his answer but lent to the fact that we fell through some kind of portal into this Silt, I surmise it was most likely done by the Creature we were fighting at the time. As Bix and myself began to assess our surroundings we noticed a large figure heading toward us in the snow coming from some hovel on the side of this mountain. We went down to meet him and upon approaching him we made somewhat peaceful contact. This large individual stood head and shoulders above even the tallest men I have ever seen. A large pair of horns protrude from his head and held the appearance of some sort of smith.I will endeavour to learn and record whatever I can about this as to yet unknown being. He had hiding in his pauldron what i first thought to be some large insect non-native to the vessel, by the way he ignored it I assumed it was a pet of some sort. I was mistaken as once it came out of there revealed itself to be a fairy. I have never before seen one in person and read very little about such creatures. From my own observations they are an incredible species with unique magical abilities and imposing power despite the diminutive size. I would place this particular one at about 2 hands tall and would only weigh some portion of a stone. Human enough in appearance or perhaps elf-like, a pair of wings on her back allows for some level of flight while the extent of this has yet to be tested. She is intelligent and can speak in at least several language and according to my own observations and the books I can confirm this creature does meet the requirements to be considered sentient. Definitely more talkative than her companion who short a few simple words appears to be more of a creature of action than speech. He seemed interested in the gloves that Bix has gotten bound to his hands and agreed to let us shelter with him if he could examine them further. The fairy, who told us to refer to her as Havok, was kind enough to heal us with some significance and we were able to go out in search of food as our stocks were running low. This terrain is unfamiliar to me and we found ourselves hiding from a storm in a cave. There we encountered a most peculiar creature. A crystal bear. I had read their description in a Creature compendium some time ago and they are as they were described in the book with some minor differentiations I would like corrected in some future editions of the book. (Most notably their color variances and how it appears to affect their capabilities.) The large smith fellow took it upon himself to try to challenge the beasts on some primal level, however being as we were in their home and there did appear to be young present this seemed ill advised. As expected it led to some small level of conflict. Neither group seemed too interested in exterminating the other and Havok was able to deescalate the situation. Her communication ability with these creatures was incredible to see. I wonder if it has to do with some innate ability of her kind or if it is something particular to her. (Requires more study) We were able to broker some form of peace with the creatures and spent the night in the cave.Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. We found a seemingly abandoned field of muckle and only upon further investigation found a house on the edge of the field where we found a dead elf and what appeared to be some form of spirit that may have belonged to that body. It requested of us to find ¡°Its/his¡± lost daughter and return to her an amulet we found with the body. I was able to determine the amulet functions as some kind of protective charm that is inhabited by or constructed with the spirit of the wearers ancestor spirits. ¡°quite unique¡±. The horned fellow put the amulet on despite my misgivings about doing such a thing. No harm seems to have come to him directly because of it but when it comes to accestorial spirits it never hurts to be more careful than brash. We gathered a fair supply of muckle and continued on our way, only encountering some boar on remainder of the journey. Once we made it to the town we found multiple airships overhead. The goblins, the Authority, Delterians and the World binders, most of them having also some level of ground presents in the city. Once again the large fellow choosing the most direct path walked into the city without any thought for the Delterians dislike of non-humans. While I hid my ears with my hood also concealing the fairy, he just walked into town where we were confronted by a 3 Delterians who appeared to be attempting an evacuation. They mentioned him by some name, ¡°Ageless One¡± I believe it was before attempting to arrest him. Again foregoing diplomacy he attempted to ¡°scare off¡± the large armored soldiers and their captain. It went about as well as anyone can expect and we found ourselves once again in mortal conflict. Things seemed to be going well enough until one of them used some kind of shield/cannon weapon and knocked me unconscious. I awoke again to the fairy¡¯s hand on my arm and her magic mending my wounds. We were able to dispatch the two soldiers and the captain chose to retreat and search out reinforcements. We quickly searched the bodies and then made out way out of town, sending the fairy to locate the shop of the horned fellows compatriot. She reported only a single armored soldier there and we returned with her to find the armored suit empty and someone tinkering with the ship. We surmised she was attempting to steal or loot it and took her prisoner. We then went about trying to use this shopkeepers personal flying vessel to escape the Silt that was being claimed by the World Binders. Our captive reawakened and we agreed to release her if she helped us escape, this woman while appearing human seems to have some kind of ability to read our minds, this is very disconcerting. With some difficulty and the help of our captive we were able to use it to escape the island but not before the smith fellow was kind enough to crash the ship into the side of the bay and send me over the side to the floor below, while my injury was not serious I do worry about letting him be in control of this thing for much longer. Justain Godfall 951 Fifth month day 18 - As we traveled on this small ship on the way to the Vessel I can feel my own powers growing and I can sense the same from this group. We are all becoming more cohesive and I am sure if we encounter more trouble in the future we will be more apt to handle it. I was able to determine from some of the documents that we found on the Delterian soldiers we killed that the name of the dead farmer¡¯s daughter is on a list of prisoners being transferred to a facility that isn¡¯t too far off our current course back to the Vessel. We have put the matter to a vote amongst our group. Do we continue on our current path or do we divert to help save the elf woman?
