He had the special ability, and that ability made the scientists curious, they wanted to understand him, to see why he could do what he could do, and see how it worked. Now, once the scientists got... Tired of him, they tried to... Put him into a very, very deep sleep so that they didn''t had to take care of him anymore. He didn''t wanted to go and sleep, so he escaped using his special ability. He managed to leave the laboratory, and the scientist didn''t liked that, so they started searching for him, because they reaaaaally wanted to put him to sleep. What do this has to do with you? Heh, it''s a looong story, to you better get comfortable. Chapter One The rain fell from the sky, as the storm raged with its winds. The soil turned into mud and only a few strands of light from the moon could get past the dark clouds. The thunder roared in the distance, quickly drowned by the sound of a milliondrops falling from the sky. Inside this forest, scourged by the storm, a single boy was running. His gray jumpsuit wet and stained by the dirt, his brown hair dirty and covered by mud. His perfectly black eyes showing fear and young determination at the same time. His boots made a squishy noise as he stepped on the mud, but it was inaudible in the hell of noises that surrounded him. The boy ran with all his might, to the point he was damaging his muscles but he didn''t care. He just kept running as quickly as he could, not seeing back. Several lights illuminated the dark sky. It wasn''t lightning, but helicopters made of a peerless black metal. They were searching for him with their spotlights. The boy didn''t care, as he just kept running. He didn''t slow down at the sound of dogs barking, he didn''t slow down at the sound of shouting, he didn''t slow down when one of the helicopters illuminated him briefly. He kept running, even with the growing fear that was displayed in his eyes, they also showed an unyielding determination. He kept running until the barking was left behind. He kept running until the shouting of men was left behind. He kept running until his legs burned more than fire. He kept running until his conscience began to fade away. He kept running until he tripped, and fell to the ground.
A young girl was sleeping soundly on her bed, snoring as the sun came from her window and the light hit her face. But she kept sleeping, not caring about it and just covering her head with the blanket. Then, suddenly, the alarm clock sounded. The girl sat on her bed quickly, startled by the sound but quickly calmed. She turned off the alarm and stretch. She then fell on the bed, preparing herself to continue sleeping. As sleep began invading her, she opened her eyes in an irritated manner, and looked at the clock. 6:30 AM Time to stand up. The girl sat on her bed and rubbed her left eye. I shouldn''t have stayed awake for so long, she thought. Her mind was dizzy, and she sat there motionless with her mind completely blank for a bit. Then suddenly it came to her, she was going to be late on the first day! She then quickly went to the bathroom and washed her teeth, vocal hygiene was important. She then changed into a blue shirt with buttons, and black pants, the uniform of the high school, and began brushing her black hair for a good five minutes. She then went to the mirror and looked at herself. Her black hair was brushed and made it to her shoulders, her black pants were ironed as well as her buttoned blue shirt. Her brown eyes were sleepy though, but she quickly fixed that with a bit of cold water. ''I''m forgetting something'' She thought, but couldn''t remember. She then dismissed it as part of her imagination. She put the uniform on, brushed her hair and teeth, her backpack was on the bed too. What could she have forgotten about? The girl then took her backpack, and went out of her room. The house was empty, the only one inside being the girl, she went to the kitchen to pick up her breakfast. It was empty too. In the table there was a brown bag and a note. She put the bag on her backpack and read the note. ''Had to go early to the work, someone had an accident. The breakfast is on the table. Love you, mom.'' The girl left the note there, left the house, and headed to her school. It wasn''t very far, she could go walking, she liked walking. It gave her time to think. She worked on the hospital most of the day so she didn''thada lot of interaction with her, but the few moments they were together were dear to her. Her mom was caring and kind, and they were always happy near the other. But there''s always the guy who decided to crash his car, so they weren''t together often. She wanted to be like her mother, help others, but she didn''t want to be a nurse, she wanted to be a doctor. The daughters must aim to be better than their mothers, right? So that their sons would be even better. That was she was taught, and that was what she was going to do. Being better than your father, will make your son to be better than you. The school grounds was bustling with people. Most of them were students from twelve to sixteen years old, but there were also the teachers. They had been singing the hymn, something that the principal assured to be important, ''to preserve the traditions''. They had just ended, and the large group was dissolved. Most students were heading to their classrooms. The girl was in that group. She went to her classroom along with a few others she didn''t know. Most of the students were chatting among themselves, others were doing something with their notebooks, and a few were just waiting for the teacher to arrive. She took a small paper she was given out of a pocket in her pants, it said where was her seat. She went a sat down besides a girl, and a boy. She looked around, looking for a familiar face, but stopped once she found none. She would have to make friends again. It wasn''t something she liked. ¡°Hello, I''m Ethan.¡± Said the boy. He had short black hair, and light brown eyes. He extended a hand to her, waiting for a reply. ¡°Aly.¡± Said the girl, lightly shaking his hand. ¡°Nice to meet you.¡± He said again. But before she could answer, the teacher intruded in their classroom. He then began speaking and presenting himself as ''Professor Shawn Tetale''. Then the first class, that consisted mostly of students presenting themselves and a small talk about responsibility, began.
The boy opened his eyes. He had been unconscious for hours, maybe a day. He tried to stand up, and fell to the ground. His legs felt like trash, it didn''t surprise him thought, when you spend your entire life imprisoned, and then suddenly have for two entire hours, you''d expect to feel like this. Maybe even worse. He tried to stand up again, this time he put his hand on a tree to support himself. Then the pain on his legs started. It felt like a sting, but it covered his two legs. He almost fell again to the ground, but he managed to stand up. The boy then looked around, he was in the forest, and he could hear several cars on the distance. There was a city nearby. He had read about them, and saw some on the TV, he wanted to see one in person. Besides, staying on the wilderness wouldn''t be the brightest thing. There were hunting mammals called ''bears'' and pack carnivores called ''wolves''. He then began walking to the source of the sound, bumping into some trees from time to time. The pain on his legs was like a curse and he had to stop to rest from time to time. He wanted to sleep right there and relieve his pain, but it would be too dangerous to do so. He may have grown inside of an isolated laboratory, but he wasn''t stupid. The travel was harsh and the pain nearly unbearable, but he had finallydone it. He got fifty meters from his original spot. He had a long way ahead. Chapter Two Walking in the forest was a lonely person. His legs shaking and his stomach demanding nutrition. He kept walking, ignoring those hazards. His body was getting weaker and weaker with each passing minute, and his mind became blank several times. He kept wrestling with his conscience in order to keep walking. He had to leave the forest. The sun, previously hidden, was now high on the sky, illuminating the previously gloomy and stormy forest. Rabbits came out of their dens, squirrels climbed on to the trees and the birds were singing a precious melody of different chirps. None of that was noticed by this person, as he just kept walking. He was starting to doubt his mind, did he really heard the city? Or was he so desperate that he imagined it? Was he becoming insane? He had lived a quiet life until now, never leaving his cell. He had never seen the exterior, and hadn''t gotten a chance to appreciate it. Why not enjoy his first time outside instead of walking like a zombie towards a city that may not exists? Why not use this unique chance he has been given? They were looking for him and would eventually find him, so why not enjoy what little time he had? He decided to rest. He was going to die anyway. He couldn''t hide from them. He looked around, and for the first time in his young life, he got to admire the beauty of the nature in person. The singing of the birds, a melody of chirping that made the forest into a calm paradise, the leaves of the trees dancing with the wind that seemed hypnotic, and the sight of little animals living quietly, made his conscience slowly fade away.
In the corridors of a high school hundreds of students walked and talked. Some were putting their belongings inside their lockers, and others were just studying. Midst all the ruckus of a high school, a lone girl named Aly, aimlessly wandered in the corridors. Aly had nothing to do, the class was a long talk about responsibility and not a real class. She had never been too social, and had always troubles finding friends. She had hoped to see a familiar face, but it resulted in her disappointed to not find any. With nothing to do, no homework and no friends to talk with, she finally decided to sit on a bench inside on one of the corridors. She took out a notebook from her backpack, which she always carried with her, and began drawing. When she drew something, she never thought about something specific, she would just draw. Then once she could recognize it, she would finish it. Be it a rabbit, an apple, a spoon, or something that doesn''t even exist. She only drew just to see what she would come out with. And so, she started her draw. For several minutes she kept drawing, checking on the hour from time to time in order to not get late to her next class. She slowly became more immersed in her draw, losing the notion of time. She would occasionally snap out of her draw trance to check the time, or by a loud student. ¡°Hello Aly.¡± Said someone. She looked at the source and saw the guy from before, Ethan. ''Oh, right, I had forgotten about him.'' She thought. He was the one that approached her during the class. She had left quickly and they didn''t have the chance to finish their conversation. ¡°Hello...¡± Aly said. She then realized that she couldn''t remember his name, and felt bad about it. ¡°What are you doing?¡± He asked, sitting besides her. ¡°A draw.¡± She retorted, quickly showing it to him. It was a pretty decent draw of a fox, made in white and black. She considered herself a medium artist, not so good, not so bad. Intermediate. Then an awkward silence came. Aly kept drawing, ignoring the situation and Ethan just tried to come up with a conversation topic. ¡°So... Do you want to tag along? I mean, meet my friends and so.¡± He finally said, breaking the ice. ¡°Mm-mm, sure.¡± She answered, seemingly focused on the draw. ¡°Fine, so... See you later.¡± He said, and left. Aly just sighted and kept on drawing. She would bother with that after she finished her draw. ¡°What was that?¡± Said someone else. It was a familiar voice, one she quickly recognized. Her heart beat became fast as joy filled her. Aly turned her head to see her best friend standing there with a wry smile on her face. ¡°Alex!¡± Said Aly. Alex was her best friend since she had memory, they were like sisters. Alex was the one who would introduce Aly to new people, as she wouldn''t do it alone. ¡°I see you are still as anti-social as ever, A.¡± Alex said grinning. ¡°You should respect me more! You wouldn''t have graduated without my help!¡± Aly said joking. ¡°What are you doing here? I thought you were staying in our old school!¡± Aly asked, not that she complained about this turn in events. ¡°Well I knew you wouldn''t be able to be a part of the society without me, so I convinced some important people that you needed me, and here I am.¡± She said in a prideful tone taking a seat besides her. ¡°You just begged and bribed the principal.¡± Aly said, and resumed her draw. ¡°Yes!¡± Alex said cheerfully. ¡°Now now, who was that pretty guy? Are you trying to get a date? Because, it seems that you just scared him off."Alex said wryly, hitting Aly with her elbow. "He? No. He''s just a guy who wants to be my friend." "Willingly? I don''t believe it. You blackmailed him to be your friend, right?"She said. "That''s stupid."Aly said "You are stupid, A." "Whatever, it''s time for my next class. I must leave."Aly said, and began packing up her belongings. Alex just gave her a ''see ya'', and left. She then headed to the classroom, to be againrecievedby a teacherintroductingherself. This time thought, there was an actual biology class.
12:00 PM. School''s over, time to head home. That was what everyone knew on this school. A tide of students came from the school doorways. They were of varied age, from twelve to sixteen, but allwearedthe same blue uniform. This was a sight everyone would have to get used to. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. Aly was heading home. It had been a long five hours of sitting in a chair and studying on a school. Now it was time of sitting in a chair and studying on a house. Then she could finally rest. Others would leave their homework for later but she didn''t. She would rather finish all of it as quick as possible so that she could have the rest of the day. The streets were bustling with activity as she walked. Vehicles came from here to there, people walked around heading to their destination. Aly arrived to her home. It wasn''t fancy, but neither a poor one. It was a simple, two stories tall house. Her used mom said that it was too big for them, and even attempted to sell it, but she never did it. In the end, they decided to keep the house. To keep the memories in here. Why did they purchased such a big house? Some may ask. At the start, they weren''t two but four people. Aly, her mother... Her brother and... Her father. They were a thriving family at first. They lived happily on their house. Her mother was a nurse, like now. Her father was a cop. He and her mother worked on different shifts, so when her mother was working, her father was at home, and vice versa. It worked, Aly and her brother could enjoy being with their father and their mother at the same time. But everything has their downsides, and nothing stays the same, no matter what. Aly took out a key from her pocket and opened the old door. It needed some oil. She stepped inside the house and headed to her room upstairs. She quickly changed clothes and took out her notebook to do her homework. It wasn''t too much, so she could finish it rather quickly. Once she had gotten rid of her homework, she was free to rest, at last. Her life was complicated, but she''d rather keep seeing the good side of the things. Else she may not be able to live. She decided to sleep. She had nothing to do after all.
When the classes had ended, Ethan decided to stay a bit of time to keep talking with his friends. His circle of friends was rather large, most would say that above average, but he wasn''t the popular guy of the school in the end. That title belonged to another person. After a while of having fun with his friends he left the school. They decided to head home, change clothes, maybe take a bath, and reunite outside the school again. That was exactly what he was going to do. He walked down the street, that was full of people. He took a few turns until a rather empty street and then... ¡°So, you must be that guy... Ethan, right?¡± Someone said. Ethan looked around, and saw a girl standing there. Her long blonde hair reached her waist and her green eyes stared into his. ¡°I''m Alex.¡± She extended a hand to him. He was doubtful, but shook her hand nonetheless. "Ethan."He said. "So I was right."She said charismatically. "Do we''ve met before?"Ethan asked Alex. To which she replied. "No, we didn''t, you''re just meeting the great Alex."She replied, brushing her hair to a side proudly. "So, then, what do you want?"He asked crossing his arms. "Well. I''ll go straight to the point. What''s your business with Aly?"She asked, crossing her arms as well. "What?"He said surprised. "What are your intentions with her, you dumbhead."She said rolling her eyes to the side. He didn''t expect this. Was she Aly sister? She had an overprotective sister then. But why is her sister blonde? Perhaps she painted her hair. He stood there a little surprised for a few seconds. "Hey! Dumbhead are you there?"She said snapping her fingers right on the front of his face. "A... Yes, yes."He replied. "Then answer my question."She said crossing her arms again. "Oh, yea, I just saw the opportunity to have a new friend and I took it, something wrong with it?"He said to Alex. Because, what''s wrong with making another friend? "Well, the fact that she''s a little shy and asocial, and she usually just send people their way when they try to talk to her."Alex said."And she, for some reason, didn''t reject you and ignored your ''friend request''." "I''m not the one you must ask that, I just talked a bit with her and that is."Ethan answered."If you see something weird with her, ask her and not me."He said, tired of this conversation. Alex just made a face, she knew he was right but she didn''t want to give him the reason. "Hmpf. It may hurt me a lot, but... you''re... right, dumbhead."Alex said with a pained expression. "Stop calling me like that."He said bothered. He had a name. "Isn''t dumbhead your name?"She asked innocently. "No, obviously."He said a bit angry. Did she really thought that? "Whatever you say, dumbhead."She said, and walked away. ''I''m no dumbhead, you oxygenated blonde.'' He murmured under his breath.
