《The True Dungeon King》
Prologue - The End
On a stormy night, a young man with black hair and red eyes, lays in a hospital bed listening to the constant beeps of the machines telling him he''s still alive. This young man¡¯s name is Charles, when he was a child he came down with an incurable disease, yet he never gave up and constantly fought for life. However, it has been over 17 years since then, now on his 21st birthday he knew he didn¡¯t have much longer left to live.
Every year he felt his strength fade more and more, at first, he could still attend school and his regular life because the disease wasn¡¯t transferable. It was when he turned eleven that he was hospitalized finding it incredibly hard to walk let alone focus on school. By the time he turned seventeen, everyone had started to give up, even his own family slowly stopped visiting knowing there was no more they could do for him.Love this novel? He would stare out at the rain alone in the hospital room, unsure as to why he deserved such a fate. He would breathe deeply before muttering ¡°this is not fair...¡± he started to believe something was wrong about all of this, anger started to build within him as his breathing started to slow, he shouted as loud as he could with a hoarse voice ¡°Give me back my life!¡± after his last outburst, his eyes lid started to become heavier and heavier as he started to close his eyes knowing this was the end. As he begun to drift off to an endless sleep a light begun to glow on the back of his right hand as a strange symbol appeared, full of power.
Chapter 1 - New world
I felt as if I were drifting on an endless sea of darkness, was this the afterlife? I never did anything in my life thanks to the sickness, so I guess I wouldn¡¯t be able to live peacefully in heaven or even be allowed in hell. I sighed believing I was to drift purgatory for all eternity. My thoughts were however distracted as a loud buzzing sound started to echo in my ears, I looked around with my eyes wide wondering what that sound was before I noticed strange transparent menu appearing before me.

As the panels finished light suddenly flooded my vision causing me to shut my eyes quickly. As I felt the very air around me distorted and I soon felt something soft laying against my back, and as the light died down I opened my eyes to see a wide blue sky far above me. Blinking my eyes a few times and even rubbing them with my hands to see if I was dreaming I realized I was actually looking at the sky I slowly sat up looking at my surroundings seeing I was at the edge of a forest next to a dirt road, feeling the cool breeze on my skin I took a deep breath trying to calm my mind because of this strange place I found myself in.
It was then I realized by body didn¡¯t ache, I slowly rose to my feet and looked down at myself, the first thing I noticed was my clothes were different, instead of a hospital gown I was wearing what appeared to be a black trench coat, a red t-shirt, and black pants. Then I looked at my actual body my arms and legs no longer extremely thin for lack of use, instead they were thick like I had lifted weights every now and again. I felt rest of my body realizing how much more built my body was, it only added to my confusion. When I hovered over one of the trench coat pockets I felt a small object in it so I pulled it out and it was a note, opening the note I noticed the letters was very strange and at first didn¡¯t make any sense to me but then they started to change into English right before my eyes, so I started to read the letter.
¡®Welcome to Aymia dear traveler, this is a land of fantasy, a world of fantasy and monsters. As this is your first time visiting our world we have granted you the welcoming package, which includes an area appropriate outfit with comfortable design from your own memories, an old dagger, a small map of the surrounding starting zone, All-Language Comprehension Skill, and basic analyze skill. To access the system, you must concentrate on the command you wish you use, the commands are; Status, and Skills. They will one activate only when you wish them to and not by simply saying the words. We hope you enjoy your stay and hope you will visit again.
Sincerely the Gods
p.s. A warning because of your special class, do not mention it or it¡¯s abilities to anyone for Dungeons are seen as wild creatures and not as sentient beings¡¯
I took a deep breath after reading the note realizing I may be having trouble in the future. As I thought that the note suddenly burst into flames and incinerate into ash flying off with the wind. With eyes wide at the act I would sigh ¡°guess that¡¯s how they cover their tracks¡¡± I would shake my head before glancing around for the map and dagger, but I didn¡¯t see them anywhere, so I thought I might as well test out the features this system apparently had. I also wondered why I was called a traveler, but I¡¯ll deal with that later as I concentrated and spoke out ¡°Status¡±You might be reading a pirated copy. I looked at the different words on the screen, it was again same words as on the note but as I looked at it, it became English for me. I noticed how game-like this looked, and begun to quickly realize that my body¡¯s appearance must be because of the values on this screen. At least far as I knew they was, though I wonder if these values was strong or not but the titles really started to get to me the most so I started to concentrate on them wondering what they were or at least what they meant when suddenly new windows appeared.

From seeing the skills, I can understand that three of them came from my class and the other two was part of the gift. Noticing how Analyze had a level beside made me believe skills can level to, but it was strange the others didn¡¯t have a level besides them. When looking them over I focused on the Dungeon Inventory skill and wondered if perhaps that¡¯s where the other parts of my gift was, so I concentrated on it and I suddenly felt an unknown space. Inside that space I could sense stuff inside it but not exactly what they were, so I tried to grab them and pull them out, when I did a map and a dagger appeared out of thin air next to me.
Seeing them fall to the ground I picked them up, opening the map I tried to figure out where I was, if I was correct this road went north and south, and if I headed north then I would come across a small town. Putting the map into my pocket I looked to find a small strap for the dagger on my hip, so I hooked the dagger in and looked to the sky, so I could try and tell which was is north before heading out to find out what this world has instore for me.
Chapter 2 - First Dungeon
After walking for what I believe to be a few hours, I finally started to see in the distance buildings peeking over wooden spiked logs like a settlement from older ages. It made sense to me, the note did say this was a fantasy world. I couldn¡¯t expect the luxuries from my world here, I hoped they still had at least similar bathrooms. Walking up to the gate I noticed a couple of guards standing on either side how ever there didn¡¯t seem to be any kind of checkpoint as people walked in and out of the small town. Taking a deep breath, I strode forwards entering the town.
The town seemed to be on the small size, though that may be because of the town I use to live in, the buildings was made from a mix of stone and wood, with various places being homes and other places being stores. I noticed Signs for Bakeries, blacksmiths and more. I stopped in my tracks when I came across a three-story tall building, it¡¯s base foundation was made of stone and its upper floors was made of wood. However, this building also was the only one that seemed to have metal reinforcements throughout the structure of the building to make the building sturdier and even able to withstand heavy outside impact. There was a sign siting above the door of weapons crossing each other over a shield, when the big words adjusted to English it read ¡®Adventure¡¯s Guild¡¯ causing me to stand there staring at the sign for a time.
I had read some stories similar to my situation though I usually never finished them, after all what else could I do, stuck in a hospital bed, besides read books and watch television. Either way a common theme was the adventure¡¯s guild, a place one could get an identification card and find work. So, knowing I needed to find some way to defend myself and earn money to live I head inside of the building, at first the smell is what hit me causing me to cover my nose, a smell worse then a pigsty. Should have expected it since this was a place where many people in heavy hot armor among other things, spend a good portion of their days causing strong body odor to fill this place. The second thing I noticed was the sere amount of people in this building, it numbered way higher then I could even count. There was many who was sitting at tables just laughing it out having drinks and partying, there was those going back and forth from counters probably accepting and finishing jobs. There were even huge groups of people around tables planning for jobs it looked like. The final thing was the fact not all these people was humans, there were all kinds of species running around, from humans to beast men, from dwarves to Elves.
Knowing I would draw attention if I just stood there I headed towards one of the open counters as quickly as I could. What greeted me was a Dwarven woman doing various paperwork, the woman looked at me when I arrived and spoke out ¡°Greeting sir, how may I help you today¡± in a polite manner. Though it was like listening to two voices speak out at once thanks to the language skill working, where an English voice was overlapping the woman¡¯s regular speech. It was just enough where I could understand it but reasonably get annoying after so long. Trying not to stand there in a daze realizing she might not understand me I tried to speak out ¡°Um yes I wanted to register¡± surprising myself and almost causing me to stammer my voice was just the same, to me it sounded like I was originally speaking English but that other language seemed to overlap over it naturally.
Overcoming the shock of this I listened as the woman began to pull out a sheet of papers and what seems to be a pencil replying ¡°Ah yes please fill out these forms in order to register for the guild, there is a two silver payment for your card, if you cannot pay for it now please mark this box on the form to receive a payment reduction instead to jobs until the debt has been paid.¡± I had started to fill out the papers as she spoke and pointed out the box, it had shocked me that there was a down payment, but I had started to figure it was for material and man power to create the cards. After filling everything out and marking the box I turned in the paper. The woman took it hopping off the stool she sat on she walked into the back for a few minutes, when she returned she had a folder in one hand and a small card in another. Climbing back up to the table she put the folder and Card out She spoke out beginning to explain ¡°This is your card, it can be used as identification to get into the major cities and it also helps keep track of your progress in quests. Now inside this folder is a couple of beginning rank quests you can take at your current rank¡± opening the folder there was three papers. They each was for a different quest, each seeming to be marked E on the corner of the papers.
The first paper was an obvious one, to gather medical herbs from the forest. The second quest was for handling an odd job of finding some lost possessions in the town. The third and final quest was to subjugate wolves, it warned the wolves loved to fight in packs causing their danger rating to increase if not careful. Scratching my chin, I decided to take the herb quest and the subjugation quest since there was something I wanted to try now that I found a way to make some money for a place to stay. Leaving the guild waving goodbye to the lady I headed back out of town heading into the forest towards the east.
Finding the herbs was the easy part as they seemed to be growing everywhere crazily, it made me wander why this was a quest, but then it hit me that the wolves probably made it dangerous to do this, and it was also an annoying job, so people probably didn¡¯t like doing it. After gathering a handful of 10 herbs I kept heading deeper into the forest looking for a hill or side of some mountain a distance away from town but close enough to walk without taking all day.
After what felt like an hour and a half walk I found a large mound finally in the forest, surprising me that I didn¡¯t find any wolves first. Taking a deep breath, I walked to the mound and put my hand up to it concentrating on my Dungeon make skill, when I felt it activating a new menu suddenly appeared before me.

The new menu caused me more questions than it answered, I decided to concentrate on it to see if I can learn anything new, after a few minutes I started to learn some details for each section. Dungeon creation points was apparently the points awarded to me to create each dungeon, the points themselves was determined by my own level and achievements, the more I did more points I got for a new dungeon it appeared, each dungeon having its own separate pool of points. The other three sections were to decide the starting properties of the dungeon, each having its own point cost and the options available was determined by my own knowledge and the starting package given to me.
Out of the monsters Wolves and Goblins both costed 50 points each, Skeleton and Imps costed around 150 points for some reason, while Spiders and Rabbits only costed 25 each. All the dungeon layouts besides Cave seemed to cost 50, while the themes also had a more verity pool of requirements. Knowing this was my first dungeon I decided to keep it simple, I choose wolves, caves, and Evolution theme which spent all my points. When I finished the selection a sudden cave mouth opened before me as the ground gave away. It caused me to feel slightly dizzy stumbling to the side using the cave mouth to right myself, deciding to check my status I notice my mana dropped rapidly, I only had 100 mana left. While it seemed to start to regenerate itself It made me realize creating a dungeon was costly to my mana. When I checked my skills, it showed I had one active dungeon now. Walking inside there was a wide cavern room with a height of about 12 feet high, wide, and long. The room was fairly dark besides a glowing crystal I could see in another room behind this one.
Following the light, I made my way down a small pathway into the second room which was much smaller, reaching out I touched the crystal and when I did two things appeared before me, the first was a holographic map of the dungeon. The second was a menu like the others with a couple of options.

Dungeon Shop

Opening the dungeon shop it was filled options for Traps, Themes, Monsters, even layouts. It seemed this was a method to gain new options for the future as well as new things for the current dungeon though everyone, but the beginning options was marked as question marks. They all costed Dungeon points, so it appeared when I got new points my old dungeons could still be improved with the new points. Dismissing the shop, I looked at the monster¡¯s option which had two options, White Wolf Cub and White Wolf. The traps menu had only one option called pitfall trap. Wondering how to expand the dungeon I looked at the map and decided to tap on it, a section highlighted, causing a prompt to appear.
|
Do you wish to Excavate this area? Cost: 15 mana
Y/N?
|
Shrugging I pressed yes, and the cave shook as a wall dug out in the first room. It appeared I can use the map to design my dungeon, when I looked at the menus again I noticed the dungeon mana has gone down by the 15-cost letting me know it took the dungeon¡¯s mana to do these things. Deciding to test out the other features I clicked on monsters and choose 1 wolf and two cubs, a new prompt told me to select an area on the map to place them, selecting the first room.
|
Do you wish to summon these Creatures? 1x white wolf, 2x white wolf cub. Total cost 75 mana
Y/N?
|
I grinned when the new prompt appears letting me know that it wouldn¡¯t let me make a heavy mistake that could drain all of my mana if I paid attention. So, selecting yes, I watched as the mana dropped from 85 down to 10 as a light shined in the first room and I heard paws stepping around. I chuckled to myself at this, it was clear I was going to enjoy designing dungeons, it was then a prompt appeared detecting the medical herbs in my other hand asking to absorb the herbs. I decided to let it absorb one of the herbs which causing it to vanish into blue particles, I was then alerted that herbs has been added to the decoration menu, confused since there wasn¡¯t one, a new set of options appeared next to the map, stating in order ¡®Removal¡¯ ¡®Move¡¯ and ¡®Decorations¡¯ guessing these let me design the dungeon to my desires even better, so I hit decorations and only thing on the list was the herbs.
I selected the herbs and selected a spot on the map, it appeared it only cost 5 mana per herb, it was then I noticed 5 more mana in the core thanks to absorbing the herb. So, I placed two herbs to grow in the core room, hoping I could use this as a method to farm herbs in the future. Having nothing more left I decided it was time to head back to town, so I started to head towards the entrance of the dungeon, it was at this time I noticed for some reason I could see a lot better in the dark dungeon, even my hearing and smell seemed much better. I looked to see if there were any noticeable changes to me and noticed both how my nails were more animal-like and my muscles seemed leaner.
Staring in disbelief I started to remember the last skill on my skill list, the unique skill Personification. Realizing this was my body adapting to wolf aspect of my dungeon, this also meant it should disappear when I got away from the dungeon, so using the new-found muscle strength I found in my legs I rushed out of the cave passing by the wolves who just looked at me in confusion. After I was 15 feet from the dungeon I felt my body changing back to normal as my speed slowed. I decided to head back to town instead of trying to hunt for wolves for the quest, after a while I manage to return to the town gate and entered town. I was sweating a lot more than I realized just from the heat and all the traveling I¡¯ve done today. Arriving back at the guild I turned in the herbs for the 9 herbs I would get 25 bronze coins but thanks to the debt I only received 20 coins. It seemed like this was more then enough to stay at a cheap inn for the night.
Hunting around town I found a small inn called The Howling Night, inside there was a burly beast man, resembling that of a tiger, at the counter. When I inquired about getting a room the burly man laughed and replied ¡°Sure it¡¯s a simply 15 bronze coins a night, 20 if you want meals¡± nodding to his statement I handed in my 20 bronze coins, planning on gathering many more tomorrow so I can stay a lot longer. After having a hearty meal of boar soup and bread I turned in for the night with big plans for tomorrow.
Chapter 3 – Surprise
Waking up the next day I let out big yawn and stretch, feeling good this morning. I would look around at the nearly bare bone room that this inn had, having simply a bed, a chest and a dresser. Shaking my head, I went to get up noticing a strange buzzing in my head again when I tried to concentrate on it a prompt appeared before me.
|
Unnamed Dungeon core Rank E has been Destroyed
|
I would stare at the simply prompt unsure what it meant until I realized it and sighed. Looking up to the sky ¡°really?¡± I spoke out to nothingness. It seemed that somehow someone already found my dungeon and destroyed it during the night or even just a few minutes ago. I would shake my head sighing know I¡¯d have to find a better place to experiment when another menu appears.
|
Speed Runner Achievement unlocked! an adventurer as cleared your dungeon in record time since its creation you have gained 10 additional points

Staring at the screen I couldn¡¯t help, but to bust out laughing. This means even when I fail if I do something crazy enough it can warrant an achievement that could make dungeons easier to take care of. Sighing I got dressed and headed down to eat breakfast before heading back out to the forest. I started to gather medical herbs, and since I started much earlier this time around I managed to gather over 30 of these herbs but I decided not to gather any extra so I don¡¯t over harvest them. In the future I would find a way to easily farm these with no consequence but for now this is enough, so I would head back to the guild and turn them in. After receiving 73 bronze coins after the guild took their portion from the original 81 coins, I headed back to the inn to get another night taking me down to 53 coins. Knowing I needed a better way to carry things with how I had to hold the herbs, and I needed a better weapon. This simple dagger wasn¡¯t going to do me any good against a wolf.
While looking around I started to pay attention to this place more, noticing all the different people going back and forth buying supplies. Even some kids helping their families with the stores be it a stall or a building. While looking at the town itself the roads are paved cobblestone as wagons go across pulled by more than simply horses. There was one that was pulled by what looked like a Rhino but it had scales and three eyes. While the level of livelihood seemed to be medieval-like from my world they do seemed to be closer to the Renaissance era.The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Walking around enjoying the sights of this town I noticed a sign that seemed to scream magic shop. Staring at it for a few minutes I would let out a sigh, I want to enter it but I knew their prices had to be far higher than I had so it would be pointless window shopping. Instead I kept going onto I found a general store called The Cat¡¯s Eye. Entering into the store I was greeting by a Beastman women, to be specific it was a Nekomimi, a girl with cat ears, tail, and in this case eyes as well. The grinning smile on her face very much reminded me even further like those on cats. Standing about 6 foot 3 inches, with bright red hair.
Looking at the walls of the shop I noticed various items on sale, just like you¡¯d expect from a general store having a little bit of everything. There was bags, baskets, food, maps, rods, and much more. Walking over to the leather bags I started to look through them hoping to find a cheap one big enough to carry various plants. While looking over the bags a surprising sweet voice interrupted my thoughts as the woman called out to me from behind ¡°can I help you find what you¡¯re looking for?¡± looking back to her I smile bit awkwardly scratching back of my head. I would turn my attention to the bags ¡°well I¡¯m looking for something that can carry a bunch of plants for a low price¡± I stated to her, hoping that she can indeed help me.
She would simply nod to my words and reached out grabbing a fairly small bag, more of a pouch, which seems to be able to hold, if going by the herbs, about 30 herbs on its own since they don¡¯t take up a lot of room. ¡°This is about 20 copper¡± she stated, I nodded and took the bag then I went over to look at the wooden rods. They was of various sizes, I took ahold of a long rod about six feet long along with, 1 and half foot diameter. ¡°How much is this?¡± I asked her, which the girl gave me a strange look for a second before speaking ¡°the clothesline pole is about 20 as well¡± she states. ¡°Then I¡¯ll take it as well¡± I would state to her paying her the 40 coins I headed out and continued to explore the town until nightfall. I found there to be a magic shop, a blacksmith, a library, the general store, a bakery, various inns, a couple of taverns, and some red district shops that I decided to stay away from.
After returning to the inn I had my dinner then returned to my room to prep for tomorrow. I had two goals, one make a new dungeon and actually try to make it defensible, and two get a lot more money. If I could find some wolves then I could earn a lot more than the previous days.
Chapter 4 - Level up
The following morning I headed out to the forest again, gathering any herbs I found on my way deeper into the forest. I put my sights to a place even deeper in the forest where people hopefully wouldn¡¯t go. Deciding that doing wolves was a bad choice since there was that request to hunt them. After walking for some time, I also figured I might as well just stay in the dungeon tonight and return tomorrow. I kept my eyes out for any natural wolves though, keeping my staff in my hands in case I needed to use it to defend myself.
I soon begun to hear growls coming from my left, causing me to make some distance from the growl turning towards where it was coming from. I held the staff ready knowing if I run then I was probably going to die. After what felt to be a long time, a wolf begun to step out of the bush in front of me, having dark brown fur and the full intention that I was its prey in its eyes. Taking a lower stance, even though I¡¯ve never used the staff I was now having to use it in a fight. The wolf and myself, just stared at each other for some time before suddenly the wolf charged towards me. I waited for it to approach as it lunged I swung my staff sideways striking the wolf sending it tumbling off to the side. I immediately turned towards where it got sent and got back into the stance I was in. I watched as the wolf slowly got up struggling a bit as blood leaked down the side of its head.
It looked at me with signs of pure hatred now, as it rushed again not desiring to give up. I simply waited again for the last second to strike this time swinging downwards so the wolf couldn¡¯t try to dodge in the air. Slamming the wolf down hard onto the ground it whimpered laying there and then went quiet. I stood ready in case it wasn¡¯t dead yet, but then a following screen told me otherwise.

Staring at the screen I started to chuckle at first then shouted ¡°YES!¡± as I feel onto my ass, shaking. Noticing how badly my arms shook I realized how scared I actually was. Taking a deep breath I calmed myself before rising back up, taking out my dagger and retrieving a fang from the wolf. I wondered if I could put the corpse into my dungeon inventory, unsure I put my hand on it. Concentrating on it to enter the inventory it suddenly vanished and I felt it in my inventory. With a grin I continued on knowing this could help my dungeon.
I continued walking, until the sun was reaching 4pm on the horizon. I knelt down in a small clearing in the forest figuring this might as well be the spot I should choose. Putting my hand on the ground I concentrated on creating a dungeon when a familiar screen appeared.

Though this time I had more points to spend thanks to my two achievements I had gotten earlier or so it appeared. If I wanted to get stronger starting dungeons I had to be sure to do everything I could in hopes of getting more achievements. While I had more points there wasn¡¯t much I could do still, as most of the things costed more than I had extra. Staring at the options I decided to go a lot harder on the monster front and forget the themes this time around. I selected wolves and goblins taking 100 of my points then the zero points caves and zero points no theme. Leaving me with 20 points leftover in case I could get something cheap from the dungeon shop.
I felt my mana rapidly leave me again as the ground shook and raised before me forming into a cave mouth. After it finished I entered the cave and saw that it was similar to the last one, except the stone had a slightly whiter color with the little bit of light I could see with. I looked at it confused rubbing my hand across it trying to concentrate on it using analyze and I was told it was marble. Surprised I guess that my dungeon¡¯s walls are made from the materials in the area when I create it. Learning that now was a shock, deciding not to doodle I headed for the core room and begun work on the dungeon. Looking at the hologram lay out I decided to first work on the layout. Knowing that the dungeon only had 100 mana, I began to wonder if I could channel my remaining mana into it, but decided to try so later. I decided to extend the hallway between the two rooms and construct a small 3 by 3 squares room, not knowing how big that actually is. The ground would shake and shutter as the dungeon rebuilt itself.
I looked at the hologram and noticed the room didn¡¯t get finished, but the design is still on the map, looking over at the dungeon¡¯s menu I noticed that it was because the dungeon¡¯s mana already ran out. Deciding to try my earlier Idea I concentrated on pushing out the mana inside me into the core against my hand. After a few seconds I felt the energy leaving me I canceled it before too long as I only had about 100 mana left myself after making the dungeon. Looking at my status I noticed that I only had ten mana left, deciding to see if it worked I looked at the dungeon¡¯s menu and notice it had 90 mana again. I grinned at this discovery and begun to get back to work.
I finished the room and hallway, and went through the menu trying to find if I could get any lights and found that I could create wall torches already. So I created a couple in the first and second rooms, so I could see better then went to work on some monsters. I selected to summon a full grown goblin and a full grown white wolf. It was going to take all my mana but I needed something to fight with, I chose to have them appear in the new second room. When they appeared I felt the changes in my body thanks to my Personification ability. My eyes could see better, I could hear better, and I felt like I could do more delicate work with my hands. I decided to bring out the dead wolf from before receiving a prompt to absorb it. The body turned into particles of mana.
