《The Mortal Group》 Ch: 1 - Scam... or not? *sigh* "What a boring and tiring day. Ohh, But every day is boring and tiresome, hahahaha ha hah" *sigh* Sam murmured to himself as he walked home from his part-time job. "Can''t these damn employers pay me instead of scamming me off my damn money!!" Sam always explodedinto furywhen he thought about those old farts who only cared for themselves. When he started at his part-time at the factory, he had expected to be able to pull through his inconceivable money issues, but unfortunately, the higher-ups screwed him over by lowering the pay on the job just when he started. Sam had calculated exactlyhow much he would need to fix his problems, which is why he chose the job of working at a factory, but he also chose it because it was an easy option. ''well, gotta sleep since I have school tomorrow'' When Sam woke up the next morning, he rushed to the train with a sandwich in his mouth like a cliched high school boy, but Sam didn''t mind, he just wanted to get in time for class at least once this year. *pant, pant, pant" "holy shit I ran fast. Frickin two kilometers in four minutes. Maybe I should start running competitivelyinstead" Sam had barely caughthis bus to the university and was panting like a wild dog. Everyone on the bus was staring at him with weirdlooks. Not only was he breathing like a mad dog, he was also practically dressed like a homeless. He wore a torn black hoodie along with some really dirty jeans and slippers. Anyone who would see him would believe he was homeless and money-wise he pretty much was, but he miraculously still had a home. Arriving at the university, he rushed to the gates and sighed in relief because he had arrived on time. "YEESSS!!!" Sam screamed out loudly as if he had won a lottery of a million dollars. Hearing Sam scream made everyone on campus look in his direction. "Hey look, it''s Mr. Homeless hahahahaha" Someone said while laughing, and yes, Sam''s money related issues were widely known throughout the university. "ugh, he''sso disgusting, why does he have to arrive this early. It was better when he always came late so no one had to see him." A girl with a disgusted and disdainful look said. Sam could clearly hear all of this, but he didn''t mind because he had always been the target of insults and slander. Instead, he walked proudly into the school thinking of how great he was since he had arrived on time. Since Sam was quite poor, he lived far away from the university which made it hard for him to arrive on time. "aah, it sure feels great being able to get to class when it actually starts." Sam said while letting out a sigh of relief. *bang* A muffled bang sounded in the school. Sam had fallen to the floor with a bleeding head. Behind him stood three people, one held a metal pipe and was the one who had hit Sam in the back of his head, leaving him completely unconscious. Then there was another guy who stood behind the one who had hit Sam. The last one was the revered number one beauty, Lisa Chiang. Lisa was not only a peerless beauty, she was also the daughter of the Chiang Casino''s CEO, Silva Chiang. Silva was a man from the USA who had traveled to China in order to establish his very own casino, which he flawlessly succeded with. He was the third richest man in the whole city of Kanghae, which made him undeniably powerful in the government as well. The university Sam went to is called K.S.U, which stands for Kanghae State University. K.S.U was not created by Silva Chiang, but 50% of the university was funded by him. This made it possible for Lisa Chiang to do pretty much whatever she wanted to. "I told you before that if I ever saw you again this early, I would beat you till your parents won''t recognize you." *spit* Lisaspat onsam as if he was below trash itself. Sam, who should, by all means, be unconscious by now woke up and stood straight. "You know... Lisa, the reason I arrive late is really not because you told me to, it''s just because the train leaves waaaaay too early for me and do, believe me, I would most likely never listen to you...." Everyone had fallen into silence, no one thought anyone would be as stupid as to talk back to Lisa Chiang, much less insult her. "...so, yea. The more you know Lisa." Sam exclaimed with a happy tone which made everyone on campus shocked. Lisa was not only shocked by the fact that Sam had not been affected by the metal pipe, but also by the fact that he dared to talk back to her and even offend her. "Tsk, this trash dares talk back to me, hit him hard this time." Just as the guy was about to hit him again, Sam ran out of campus and towards the train station. Lisa gritted her teeth and shouted. "Are you running away you fucking coward!" "Of course I am, I''m not dumb enough as to just stand there and let you beat me to death!" Everyone was dumbstruck by Sam''s exclamation Lisa''s two lackeys started chasing after him to the train station, and just as Sam entered the station, a train appeared. Sam quickly boarded it and then turned around looking at the two chasing him. When the two arrived at the station, the doors to the train had closed just in time for them to miss it.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. "Hahahaha, bye, bye suckers. Hahahahah" Sam said as he looked at the two through the doors while shooting an evil gaze in their direction. ''Those damn lackeys. Every day, they terrorize me.'' Luckily, the train which Sam had jumped on was the one leading to his home. Going home was probably the best option if he valued his life at all. *sigh* "And another day, just as annoying and tiresome as the other. This wasn''t even a third of a day, but everyone still managed to screw me over. Damn, I wish I was some rich dude who could hire some bodyguards" Sam said as he walked into his run-down apartment, which again, he miraculously was still allowed to live in. He sat down by his laptop and started browsing different self-defense techniques and martial arts. *pling* "What''s this?" Sam said and read the mail he had received.
[email protected] "Hello, My name is AdebiyiAbayomrunkoje Bunkechukwu and is the prince of Nigeria. I desperately need help with the transportation of $100 billion worth of gold and was told you are the one to ask. The way we are going to proceed with this is stated in the following: We drive a big truck to the USA and you have to direct us in the correct direction. When the transportation is complete, we will give you 50% of the worth. Please help, Adebiyi."
"Well, well. Just what I needed. Another scam email, fucking great" Just as Sam was going to dispose of the mail, a loud knocking sound could be heard from his door. "Holy shit that scared me!" Sam quickly left his laptop and walked to the door. *creak* "Uhm, hello, how can I help you" Sam said while opening the door. And believe it or not, there stood the landlord with his hand stretched out towards Sam. "Why, hello there Sam. Where is the damn rent!" The landlord screamed. "Wait, wait Guanyu, I promise I''ll pay tomorrow morning. If I''m not able to, I''ll double the amount. Okay?" Guanyu hesitated for a moment but decided after a while of hard thinking. "Okay Sam, but If for some reason, I don''t receive the money tomorrow morning, I won''t just crave the double amount, I''ll kick you ass flying too" Sam let out a sigh of relief as he walked back indoors while thinking about how the hell he would be able to earn so much money in such a short amount of time. He sat down beside the laptop again and brainstormed for some time, but eventually gave up on the idea of paying. He should plan on an escape instead. Sam''s depressing thoughts were interrupted by the flashing screen on his laptop which displayed the scam-mail. "Heck, I''ll just proceed with this shit, What can they even scam me off, I have no money." Sam said in a depressing tone and clicked the mail.
[email protected] "Ok, Mr. Adebiyi, I''m not sure if I''m the right person, but I''m inanyway."
"What am I even doing, It''ll just reply with a bot message anyways." *pling*
[email protected] "Good choice, I knew I could count on you."
Sam once again looked at his laptop and wrote a reply.
[email protected] "Ok... If you say so"
...... *pling* Sam heard the tone and looked at what this Nigerian prince had written to him. "WTF?" Sam said in a shocked tone. He read the mail again and realized something. This scam bot was not a bot apparently.
[email protected] "Hellooo? I am quite bad at holding conversations so I hoped that maybe you would be the one leading this conversation"
Is what the mail said. Sam then wrote another reply in which he actually talked to it as a person.
[email protected] "I''m sorry, I''m just not feeling very good right now, so my replying speed might be kinda slow."
*pling*
[email protected] "What happened then, why are you feeling bad mister Sam?"
---
[email protected] "I''m kinda being bullied at school, but most of all, it''s my money issues"
*pling*
[email protected] "Being bullied is not good mister Sam, but luckily, your money issues will be solved after we are done with the transportation of the gold"
---
[email protected] "Thanksman.">"
"Wait, WTF am I even talking about my life with this scammer for!!?" Sam was interrupted by his own self as he had realized that he had been chatting with this damn Nigerian prince like he was at therapy. *pling*
[email protected] "No problem mister Sam, but I''ll have to end this small chat now because the truck has arrived at the USA border and is in need of dire help. What is the capital of the USA called and what areit''s coordinates?"
Sam was dumbfounded by their view of "directing" and even more about how the heck they even arrived at the USA''s border by car, but he still causally looked up their questions on google. ---
[email protected] "The capital of the USA is called Washington D.C and is located in the east of the country. Coordinates are:X:38.889931 / Y: -77.009003"
*pling*
[email protected] "Thank you very much mister Sam. Now, lastly, what is your credit card information. I will send your share direcly to you account."
Sam saw that they wanted and didn''t hesitate to give them the information since he basically has no money to lose while being in dire need of money. Even though he knew that he would never receive money from a scam, he wanted to hope at least. ---
[email protected] "No problem Mr. Adebiyi. My credit card information is **** **** **** **** / ***. It was good doing business with you."
*pling*
[email protected] "Same to you mister Sam and Thanks again. We will send the money in 1 minute."
Sam sighed inwardly and just threw himself at his bed and thought about how miserable his life was, but once again was his depressing thoughts interrupted. *pling*
[email protected] "$50 000 000 000 Has been deposited to your account. We recommend going to The Stately Bank of Kanghae and attaining a VIP Card for security measures."
True enough, Sam had received the money one minute later. "What the actual fuck" This was the only sentence Sam could utter. Ch: 2 - The State Bank of Kanghae Sam was in a state of complete shock. He almost fainted as soon as he saw what that mail contained. Right at this moment, all he could do was to just sit in his bed and remain shocked. Sam had probably been sitting in his bed for 3 hours straight just thinking of what the fuck just happened. When he somewhat regained his consciousness, he checked to see if it was even real. The one who had sent it had done so through a mail named "[email protected]". Sam went on to google this address in order to see for himself if this really was a petty prank or not. When he found out after googling was indeed quite shocking too. Apparently, the ''sbkvd'' in the mail stood for ''State Bank of Kanghae - VIP Department'' "haha hahaha hah, what the fuck is actually going on..." Sam laughed to himself and just seconds later tears ran down his cheeks. He had never thought that he would be saved from the depths of depression in this way. The sentimental time went on for some time, but ultimately, Sam decided to go to that State Bank of Kanghae and get his card upgraded. He realized that he had to put on some nice clothes instead of the complete trash outfit he wore today, but soon he also realized that the reason for his trash outfit today was because he didn''t have any nice clothes. *sigh* "I guess I''ll go in this then, not that it really matters if changed outfit anyways since I''ll still look homeless no matter what I wear" Sam thought of how miserable he was again and thought that now that he had an extreme amount of money, he would try to help others in need too so that they wouldn''t need to experience homelessness anymore. This was probably the most determined Sam has ever been in his whole life. "Let''s go to the bank then... Ohh I almost forgot. I have to take my laptop with me in case they need to see my ID or something." Sam said and put on a serious expression that made him seem like a charismatic leader. As he went outside, he saw that it had gotten dark so he looked at the big watch above the building he lived in since he himself had nothing to tell the time. "So it was this late. Gotta hurry then if I want to arrive at the bank before they close." The time was 10:46 pm and the taxi service has stopped long ago. Sam decided to take his bike to the train station and wait for a train that would take him to the bank. When he arrived at the station he sat down on a bench and patiently waited for a train. He started thinking about what he would spend his money on and what results it would have. Although Sam was poor, he had quite some skills in managing money which he had gained from all his years of being extremely poor, but he had never had a chance of putting them to use since he was so poor. *sigh* After a long time of thinking about it, he still hadn''t managed to find out what he wanted to do so he let out a long and loud sigh. Sam hadn''t noticed when, but a woman had taken a seat on the bench next to the one Sam was sitting on. When she heard his long sigh, she instantly looked in his direction. "Mind keeping it down, you despicable low-class" She said as she threw a tremendously disdainful look at Sam. She had no way of knowing, but Sam was probably the richest private-person in the whole city of Kanghae right now. Sam had always been poor, so he had noticed that if you were poor in this city, you would be scorned no matter if you stood up for yourself or not so you might as well just stand up for yourself. "Ohh, I''m so sorry. I didn''t know that I had been stripped of my right to speak freely in this country. I am eternally repentant for my sins." Sam said with a teasing tone as he looked at the lady with a grin. Although these kinds of people were the ones Sam hated the most, he had to admit that this lady was extremely beautiful. She had a slim waist, a nice butt and most of all, a rack from the heavens. "Tsk." The lady glared at him for a while but then ignored him. As their little argument was over a train arrived at the station, and it was the one Sam needed to take in order to get to the bank. Just as he stood up, the lady beside him did so as well. They even got on the same train. "Ohh? following me around like this? could it be that the lady has already taken a liking to me?" Sam said with an even more teasing tone than before. This made the lady quite angry again, which coincidentally, was Sam''s intention. "I don''t have time for disgusting low-class people such as you."This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. She said before she sat down in a free seat at the far end of the cart. Sam who had also gotten tired of this overly proud and negative woman, sat down at the other end of the cart. Since it was a long trip, Sam wanted to sleep for a bit so he took off his hoodie and put it over himself as a blanket instead. He quickly fell asleep after lying down on the benches in the train. since it was so late, there was only Sam and the scornful woman in this cart at the time which made it possible for him to lie down. *ding, ding. Stopping at State Bank of Kanghae* An automated voice rang out inside the train which woke Sam up. He immediately put on his hoodie again and walked towards the doors on the train. The lady at the other end of the train did the same. Sam knew that she was probably also going to the bank, but felt an urge to tease her again. "Well, well. If it isn''t my secret stalker. No need to hide your feelings for me." The lady just ignored him and walked out as the doors opened, so Sam decided to not prolong anymore and did the same. When he got out, he saw the massive building which was the State Bank of Kanghae. It was probably 4 times bigger than the whole university which already was one of the biggest buildings in this area of the city. Although it was nighttime at the moment, the bank shined like a newly polished jewel. All the bright lights on the building reflected off of the glamorous exterior. "Damn, just how rich are these guys?" Sam said as he walked in the direction of the main entrance. When he was just meters away from the entrance, a loud voice sounded out. "Stop right there. Show me your ID." It was one of the guards who was stationed at the entrance and when Sam saw this he sighed inwardly because he knew that even if he had a somewhat legitimate ID, they wouldn''t let him in. All that mattered here in Kanghae was power and status both of which Sam didn''t have. Luckily Sam had prepared for this and took his laptop out and showed them the invitation from the VIP Department. When the two guards saw this, they instantly froze. "I''m s-sorry for the inconvenience I caused you Mr. Sam Kruzenne. Please follow me." The guard was evidently shaken by the turn of events. Sam was too, he had never expected the invitation to be so effective. In his mind, he expected to have to go through a whole lot of trouble before they even would start trusting him. "No need to be so polite, just take me where I''m supposed to be." Sam said with a smile and followed the guard into the entrance. When they got in, the lady who was at the train earlier sat on a sofa and conversed with a handsome man. The man was dressed in a completely white attire and had a black necktie. When the lady noticed him she glared at him with a small hint of killing intent in her eyes. "You useless guard, he''s the one I paid you to stop, you shit!" She said in a loud angry voice and started walking towards them. Sam now knew why he had been stopped at the entrance for no reason and wasn''t quite happy about it. Sam already knew that he was despised by pretty much everyone and didn''t really mind when he was insulted, but when someone tries to restrain him, he becomes quite irritated. The guard who apparently had been bribed for the purpose of stopping me at the gate looked at her with an angry but at the same time a panicked expression. He was afraid that Sam would become furious and make life hard for him. "I advice you to stop right there young lady." The guard said and then ignored her while continuing his task of guiding Sam to the VIP Department Desk. Sam looked at the guard and thought that he was quite an interesting fellow. The guards at the State Bank would obviously have a good pay, which made Sam wonder why the guard had broken rules that would cause him to be fired and earn himself a permanent mark in his files only for some money. Sam thought about it and decided to ask the guard some stuff. "Hey, you don''t have to worry man. I''m not gonna report you or anything, but since you were bribed to make things hard for me, I crave some information." Sam said as he smiled and looked at the guard. The guard''s expression lightened quickly, but at the same time he wore a worried expression because of what Sam said he wanted, but since he didn''t want to be fired, he accepted the terms. "O-okay. What do you want to know?" The guard said while worrying about what information Sam would crave. "Hmmm, what about your name and why you were bribed?" The way it sounded was definitely worrying for the guard. Those two pieces of information are typical things you would report in this scenario. The guard swallowed and started sweating, but decided that he could at least tell Sam his name. "My name is Zhao Liang." The guard said while still worrying about the other piece of information. He was in quite the dilemma. If he told Sam why he was bribed, Sam both were able to report him and had all right to do so, but if Sam decided to not report him after listening, his job would still be in danger since the reason for the bribery was quite complicated and had to do with greedy higher-ups. If they found out that Zhao had ratted them out, he would definitely not be able to live out his days in peace. "Ok, and what about the other information I asked about. You know, if it''s not a fair trade I obviously won''t go through with it." Sam said with a serious expression with made Zhao tremble a bit. Zhao thought about it and deduced that even if both choices most likely had a bad outcome, the one where he tells Sam is most likely to go in his favor. "ok, ok. Ehm-mm, I accepted her bribery because of my money-crisis. The higher-ups at the State Bank cut the pay constantly so that they could keep more money to themselves which made it hard for me to take care of my family." Zhao said while looking down. When Sam heard this, he became enraged. Who would have the audacity to endanger someone''s family for the sole purpose of some money. The look on Sam''s face gradually became colder and piercing. He looked at Zhao Liang who was standing still and sympathized with him for a while. "Take me to the VIP Department now my friend Zhao Liang. I will help you in any way I''m able to!" Sam said with a domineering voice as he looked at Zhao. Sam had himself been a target of this pesky technique of stealing money, so he knew quite well how it felt for Zhao Liang. Although Sam had promised to help Zhao, he didn''t know how much he would be able to help him. Sam didn''t know that the power he held right now was overwhelming. If Sam wanted to, He could easily fire anyone on the bank staff except for the chairman and the one Sam needed to deal with was only the sneaky Security Department''s manager.
