《Mana Unleashed Evolved》 Chapter 1: An Echo (1) Blazing light darted across the sky, tearing through the clouds and crashing into the ground leaving no trace of life in its wake - eradicating everything entirely, the thunder bellowing a cry of warning all too late. Though it was late a small, glimmering, dancing light could still be seen through the window of a small, corner cobble-stone house in which a young boy sat upon a stool draped in tattered, ripped old rags which barely shielded him from the vicious winds blowing from the northern wastelands. As the boy was perched on his chair he closely examined a small card adorned with fine green lines which stretched across the card in a systematic, almost robotic fashion. The lines shone in the dark glowing on the young child''s face. A face that at such a young age already left bruised and battered by the harsh realities of life as he inspected the card he realised the light began to shine more violently and had suddenly become extremely heavy and he could not move it from the desk it was left on. The boy''s name was Reiner Loca. The card had been left on his desk two years ago by his grandfather before he had passed away. His grandfather had been a man of great stature, a wealthy business man at that too. However, everything changed on Reiner''s third birthday when Reiner''s uncles and aunties launched a large-scale lawsuit and usurped control of his grandfather''s fringe science business. Reiner''s grandfather had revolutionised the world 20 years ago when he managed to prove the existence of mana and its influence on modern culture and ever since the day the truth was uncovered all manner of people came out admitting to having not only being aware of mana but also knowing how to exploit and use magic. Voodoo sorcerers, grimoires, summoners, cultivators, reincarnation systems everything anyone could ever dream of was real they had hidden themselves in a separate dimension, what we now call a pocket dimension, and separated themselves from what they referred to as the ignorant. Ever since they were revealed to the public as a direct consequence to Reiner''s grandfathers unveiling a 10-year period of chaos had ensued- the Cambrian revolution. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.Reiner''s grandfather being the shrewd business man he was had already planned for this and began stockpiling on all sorts of different mana manipulating spell casting guns, shields, wards, summon charms and monopolised the market for the fringe science supernatural. Reiner''s grandfather was considered to be the smartest man alive with his net worth far exceeding what anyone could ever fathom, however, he was too trusting and he was backstabbed by his own blood losing everything he owned. Reiner''s grandfather had died due to unexplained causes he died as a shell of his old self. An echo of his previous brilliance. Tonight, was the last night before Reiner''s spiritual awakening, after the curtain dropped a united world government was formed to tackle the new threat which would be faced. It was decided by the world government the best way to take control of the situation was to form a register of all magic users and at the age of 6 take every child through a systematic awakening of their power and assess their potential future threat level. If the child''s potential threat level (PTL) exceeded amber they are taken into mandatory discipline camps where they are forced to learn how to control their power and subliminally trained to become government lap dogs to fight in the celestial battles. The small card suddenly began to levitate and float violently like a boat crashing against the waves of the horrific ocean. It then began to pacify before dashing into Reiner''s forehead like the aforementioned lightning. A wave of pain engulfed and emulsified Reiner''s consciousness leaving him trembling and convulsing as he screamed in pure and utter agony. After what seemed like an eternity the pain subsided, and a sense of clarity could be seen in Reiner''s eyes. The card had disappeared and upon a quick once over in the mirror there were no visible changes in Reiner''s physical appearance the only noticeable difference was the rags he had called clothes were even more torn by the constant tugging and pulling whilst he was on the floor. A further change could be seen is his eyes they seemed to be coated by a layer of fog making it hard to see his true eye colour. Had this been 20 years ago that would have stood out and been marvelled at possibly sparking some extra-terrestrial conspiracy videos from Mike Chen, but today people would chalk it up to a mere enchantment or biomechanical enhancement. Reiner glanced towards the clock it was 2 pm his awakening was scheduled for 5 pm he only had 3 hours to run to Westminster were the public awakenings of everyone from London was held. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am an amateur student writer I have a plan for where I want this story to go but thoughts and opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciate so please comment them and any other improvements you think of. Chapter 2: An Echo (2) Finally having reached the centre of the busy, bustling city he approached the remnants of what was once the big ben- it had been destroyed and decimated in the early Cambrian years as a result of a wandering Taoist and a clan of Voodoo Shamans becoming possessed by ¡®a fallen one¡¯ a wreaking havoc and plaguing the streets with demonic entities. The once marvellous grand standing tower of clockwork had been recuced to rubble in a mere instant ¨C it as a turning point in history from that point forward the power of the fallen ones was revered and they were for the first time seen as not only just a group of misguided children. They were now seen for what they were, terrorists. In its place floated an obsidian black pillar, this pillar which was surrounded by 18 cloaked and hooded individuals each cloak decorated by a different animal. A long stream of children could be seen a few meters away from the obsidian pillar each one making strange and gestures and swiping their finger across the air as if they were playing with an invisible smart phone. Reiner hurriedly rushed towards the platform where he was met by a series of scornful expressions. He was late. The administrator seemingly not caring at all asked Reiner for his full name. ¡°Reiner Loca¡± replied Reiner in a hushed tone. ¡°Oh a Loca? Any relation to The Revealer?¡± he administrator asked in an inquisitive maner ¡°No sir, just a coinicidence¡± Reiner quickly snapped The administrator stood seemingly having lost interest in the child before him and swiped his hand in the air and told Reiner to wait 1 minute for adjustments to be made. Reiner glanced up upon the administrator unphased by his change in tone. The Revealer was the title given to Reiner¡¯s grandfather when he pulled open the curtain revealing the truth to everyone, the reason he had chosen to hide this was due to not only his relatives new found position of power in not only the world government but also several of the major clans power houses and they had made it no secret that their hatred of Reiner¡¯s grandfather did not stop at him but also further extended to him. However, that was not the only reason he chose to hide the fact he was his grandson there were two other reasons, the first of these two being; the family as a way to make sure the stock price did not take a tumble carried out the hostile takeover in secret and they had some way of making sure that his grand father one of the strongest existences in history kept his mouth shut. The second of the two being he was too weak to live up to his grandfathers legacy so if he did admit the truth then perhaps his life would be cut short by one of his grandfathers old foes or perhaps even by a crazed fanatic who was obsessed with his grandfather¡¯s work. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Beep. Beep. Sub - Awakening System initialising Beep. Awaiting confirmation¡ A bright blue interface stood out in front of me Reiner screamed in horror and jumped back aghast at what was happening only to be met once again by the many scornful gazes from the lines of people behind, however, this time there was not only scorn in their eyes but also a sense of blatant mockery. One of the well-dressed older gentlemen who was closer to him gave a friendly smile and told Reiner that he had to say initialise and this part of the administrator¡¯s ability awakening system he just had to follow the steps in front of him. Truthfully, this was all common knowledge and should have been known beforehand but as Reiner had lived by himself since he was 3 years old only being looked after by a demon summon his grand father had left him until he was 5 so a vast majority of his time was spent working for a nearby drug cartel were he and the rest of the orphan children were forced to scower the market place looking for both ingredients and potential buyers. Reiner embarrassed quickly thanked the well-dressed gentleman and went on to murmur initialise. Beep¡ Confirmed User identity: Reiner Loca Magic Potential: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Bloodline Potential: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxx : xxxxxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The administrator quickly bolted towards Reiner and asked what he had done Reiner immediately responded that he had done nothing he just said initialise and the GUI had begun to freeze and glitch. WARNING SYSTEM IS BEING INTERFERED WITH BY EXTERNAL OBJECT. PLEASE REMOVE EXTERNAL OBJECT BEFORE PROC¡. System terminated A gargantuan explosion could be seen on the bridge over the Thames a stone throw away. All the children had been sent this message and immediately looked up towards the administrator. The administrator was clearly panicked he darted towards the hooded figures and screamed ¡°Code 113 suspected fallen ones attack they¡¯re interfering with the test¡± One of the 16 figures that had a drawing of a dragon on his back Began to give orders to the group. ¡°Eagle deploy detection magic assess the situation find out how many enemies there are. Bear round up the children one of them is the target and until we ascertain which one send all of them to camp C666 Turtle and armadillo Begin forming defensive barriers Everyone else stay vigilant and prepare for battle.¡± As this was all going on Reiner had a gut feeling that the system failing had nothing to do with the strange explosion or the ¡®fallen ones¡¯ but was infact due to the mysterious card which had unexpectedly vanished. Chapter 3: An Echo (3) Suddenly, a ringing sound roared in Reiner¡¯s ears closely followed by a burst of a burning bright light. It was the kind of brightness that shreds and sears through your retinas forcing you let out a scream of pain and curse the wretched light. A light that made you feel as if you had gazed upon the sun for hours on end and you were now feeling the results for your pain-staking stupidity. A sense of dread welled up inside Reiner as he laid on the floor in anguish. As the ringing died down he could faintly hear the sobs and whines of other children around him, however, at that point an overwhelming wave of fatigue brushed over him and he drifted off into a deep slumber almost immediately losing consciousness. BANG BANG BANG A series of obnoxiously loud noises awoke Reiner, as his eyes began to adjust to the surroundings he realised immediately he was no longer in in Westminster and began to ponder upon what had happened. He concluded that where ever he now was, was likely due to the explosion that happened earlier. BANG BANG Those obnoxious bangs had resumed immediately interrupting his train of thoughts. He slowly glanced upon his surroundings he was encased in a small oak wooden cabin room. The entire room was bare and simple besides a small mattress which he had just woken up on. Directly opposite him was a huge steel door- it was a door but it more closely resembled the entrance to a bank vault. The banging was emanating from there. Reiner slowly stepped towards the huge steel door and called out. ¡°Hello?¡± Reiner shouted at the top of his lungs hoping for a response from someone who could shed some light on the situation at hand. The banging immediately ceased but no reply came. ¡°Hello?!¡± Reiner cried this time in a more worried tone. There was still no response but at that very moment a series of loud metallic clinks and clanks resounded through the small cabin. The massive door slowly began to slide open to reveal an enormous grand tree which stood majestically reaching towards the skies piercing through the clouds as if trying to surmount the entire universe. It exuberated a sense of natural pureness and serenity yet still giving of an aura of power and control. Surrounding the grand tree were 7 awe-inspiring mountains each as mystical as each other, as Reiner was admiring the scenery before him. He realised something, why was he so calm? Though he was vastly more mature than the average 6-year-old due to his unfortunate circumstances he still should have reacted to what had just happened. Why was he just accepting his newfound circumstances so lightly and how did he even get here? Reiner could feel something sinister in the works, again he looked around him this time in an attempt to ascertain where the banging had been coming from. As he looked around he could not find anything what so ever besides the luscious scenery he could not find any signs of life but then a monotone voice sounded through his head. Temp world sync Stand by¡Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Entities loaded pocket realm synchronised Out of seemingly no where the entire landscape was filled with children, teenagers, demonic beasts and a massive ogre like Viking appeared standing next to Reiner. ¡°FOLLOW ME, MAGGOT¡± Roared the Viking. ¡°Where am¡¡± Reiner attempted to enquire before being quickly interrupted. ¡°SHUT YER STINKIN¡¯ TRAP AND FOLLOW I DON¡¯T WANNA EAR ANUTHER SOUND FROM YE¡± The Viking shouted in a sort of broken English that must¡¯ve sounded perfectly normal to him. Timidly Reiner followed the disgruntled, old ogre like Viking- keeping perfectly silent in an attempt to appease his rage. As they followed the muddy worn-down path making their way towards the huge tree. After what Reiner measured to be 30 minutes though he had no way of checking, so he could not be certain, they seemed to have reached a plateau close to the base of the tree. Now that he was up close he could see that the base of the tree carried a thick stench of blood and skeletons littered the floor surrounding the roots. An icy wind blew around the tree as the Viking drew near even he seemed to hesitate but with a solemn face he spoke. ¡°Walk forward 10 meters and say the following words ¡®escalier ouvert¡¯ and go down the staircase that will be revealed to you there you will meet the rest of the new initiates to camp C666¡± Reiner though confused followed the ogre like Vikings instructions with haste in fear of being stomped to death by him for being too slow. He swiftly marched forward to the specified spot and uttered the phrase mentioned by the Viking and sure enough a stair case revealed itself. He stepped down the staircase slowly and eventually began to see the bottom of the stair case. At the bottom of the stair case was a dimly lit hall furnished with a series of long tables and dimly lit by floating orbs of light magic. All the seats were full by the children he had been with before he had lost consciousness. There was one older boy who prompted Reiner to sit on the empty chair, Reiner followed the instructions and sat down. Abruptly, an archaic, creaky voice began to speak slowly ¡°Welcome to Camp C-666 you are all here today as we are unable to ascertain which one of you children the ¡®fallen ones¡¯ were after. The fallen ones interrupted the awakening ceremony and we believe their target was one of you. They dispatched 3 evolution grade Ifrits, a grand sage and a namikaze, London has fallen, everyone within was obliterated. If not for the quick actions from team zodiac incapacitating all of you and teleporting, you all to this pocket dimension in the northern wasteland you would all be dead too. You should be thankful¡± This news shocked everyone in the hall some of the children began to weep and despair upon the realisation that their whole families had passed away and they were alone. To Reiner this news had little to no impact he was already alone, he always had been since the passing of his grandfather. The archaic voice began to continue ¡°You will now be raised and trained in our facility. This pocket realm was created through the collaboration of a French druid and several Great saints. You now all have 2 options: your first option is a serum will be place before you it is a random mix of DNA from wandering beasts in the northern wasteland you can choose to inject yourself with it and become an evolver you will then be induced into the Demonic control sect where you will learn to cultivate and in time become a good lap dog for the world government and either be sent to fight in celestial battles or serve in the front lines against the ¡®fallen ones¡¯. Your second option is we kill you and extract your blood line essence and abilities and give them to someone more useful. You have 10 seconds to decide if you have not decided in those 10 seconds we will assume you have chosen the second option.¡± A new monotone voice began to echo out ¡°10¡± ¨C some children began to cry ¡°9¡± ¨C some children began to question whether it was real ¡°8¡± ¨C half of the crying children were shot in the head ¡°7¡± ¨C some children began to inject themselves ¡°6¡± ¨C the rest of the children swiftly joined them ¡°5¡± ¨C all the children had injected themselves ¡°4¡± ¨C silence encompassed the hall the rest of the crying children bit their lips to keep silent ¡°3¡± ¨C no change ¡°2¡± ¨C no change ¡°1¡± ¨C Reiner injects himself. The dreadful archaic voice rang out once again this time a hint of joy could be heard in his tone ¡°You are the fifth wave of children to be induced to this camp you will now be collectively known as wave Echo. The fun will now begin¡¡± Chapter 4: induction ¡°As the ability awakening ceremony was interrupted we will be unable to administer specialised training to suite your blood line and ability potential, as such we the united world government decided that most of you are probably trash and you no longer have any family to protect you so we gave you a low earth grade DNA elixir from The Revealer¡¯s Opus corp. This will begin to change your body to a form more accepting and able to use mana. These changes will occur over a span of one month, some vastly more drastic than others and some being vastly more powerful than others. You will now be induced by wave Delta.¡± The ground began to tremble, and a look of panic washed over the faces of all that were present, and a foreboding sense of dread began to well up once again in Reiner¡¯s heart. Reiner had noticed a sense of unease had begun to well up building itself up slowly but surely ever since the card his grandfather had left him had inserted itself into his forehead and caused him to pass out. The quaking ground slowly began to settle and the nervous panicked expressions that coated the children¡¯s faces began to ease. 7 doorways opened, inside each was a child that looked to be nine years old, two of them were humungous and covered head to toe in scars and adorned in rough, unkempt ripped orange robes. Two of them were neat and tidy in Buddhist monk robes draped over them and an air of serenity about them, the rest were all plainly dressed in ordinary jeans and hoodies nothing noteworthy about them besides one girl who was seemingly only had one eye in the middle of her skull much like a cyclops from Greek mythology. The cyclops like girl began to speak ¡°Boulder, isn¡¯t their much more people than usual?¡± ¡°I heard there was extenuating circumstances which meant all of these unfortunate rats got classified with a PTL of Crimson red¡± replied one of the giant scarred men The girl then let out a soul curling cackle that seemed to itch the very soul of those who heard it and began to speak once more ¡°serves these pretentious little rats right I suppose, and get this they all had to inject themselves with a DNA elixir so about 90% of these maggots are going to die tonight so that means there should only be 700 how about we just take them to the barracks give them the evolvers guide and the monks can give them some cultivation manuals to choose from then after the majority of them have died we can divide them up tomorrow?¡± A circle of laughter could be heard from the jean wearing and the scarred individuals. The monks maintained their silence but one gave a slight nod of approval as if agreeing to what the cyclops girl had said. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. The archaic voice echoed out once more ¡°since you¡¯ve decided what to do with them you may now leave. Wave Echo go to whichever exit is closest to you and follow the Wave delta students to your new barracks where you will stay for the next month during your adjusting period while you evolve into your new improved forms. During this first month you will be safe, and tutors will come and teach you new ways to manipulate mana and you will al receive your first summon. Strive to become as powerful as possible as after this one-month probation period anyone that we still deem to be weak and unfit will be killed and their DNA and abilities will be extracted.¡± After that sombre reminder of the danger and peril they were in the children¡¯s faces dropped they all looked desperate and an urge to survive could be seen in each and every single one of their eyes. The 7 wave delta youths began to lead the way out of the grand hall through seven corridors that closely resembled mines. Reiner could faintly see the crevices and marks left behind by a pickaxe on the walls and he thought to himself if this realm was made by a druid and a few cultivators why were people mining in it and why would they not have just asked said druid to create the tunnels for them or even use their own magic to build them. His thoughts came to a halt as they reached the end of the tunnel and a gentle light could be seen as they stepped out onto the giant mountain range they were instructed to make their way back to the place they woke up and one by one enter their ¡®vault¡¯. As Reiner pondered how they expected all of them to fit in one vault he noticed that as soon as one person entered, and the door closed the person seemingly vanished into thin air without a trace. He marvelled at how this happened and then was enlightened as he listened in to boulder and the cyclops¡¯ conversation and came to understand that this feat was achieved through a mastery of space time magic and each time the vault door opened a parallel universe where the vault was empty would be opened and when you stepped through the universe would switch to another parallel universe where it¡¯s empty ready for the next person. Eventually it was Reiner¡¯s turn he stepped forward into the vault where there were five books and a set of clean clothes waiting for him- Reiner was more excited about finally having a pair of new clean clothes and no longer having to wear the dirty rags he used to. The first book was an extremely thin paper back roughly 11 pages held together by a single staple making it look extremely flimsy. The book was new still inside its plastic wrapping it was entitled ¡°Guide to your first evolution¡±. The next two were thicker but still relatively thin only about 70 pages each they were hard back and were relatively old judging by the thick blanket of dust covering them they were entitled ¡°guide to summoning your Demonic beast¡± and ¡°guide to using your system¡± respectively. The final 2 were thick hard back roughly 300 pages the size of a normal novel and were entitled ¡°mana cultivation¡± and ¡°Demonic beast cultivation¡±.
