《Esper》


 Prologue - A Prodigys Reasons

    Jack sat on a chair while the nurses in front of him prepared a few needles. He was about to undergo something all 15-year-olds wished to undergo in the current year of 2044; ESP Awakening.


    Due to leaps and bounds in both Genetic Modification, Neuro-sciences, and General Medicine, Humans were able to take a step forward in Evolution and become Espers.


    Sadly, not everybody could take this step. If you were too young you wouldn''t awaken to your fullest potential and if you were too old you wouldn''t awaken at all. After a few years of test trials among all ages, the researchers concluded that the age of 15 was the optimal age to undergo the awakening procedure.


    Jack looked at the needles the Nurses were filling up and thought back to his lessons in school about the magical liquid which spurred on the Human Race.


    It was called Genetic Awakening Liquid or Geno-Liquid for short. It entered the body for multiple needles and flowed around the body awakening any latent potential it had. The effects were different for everyone but it commonly did a few things such as: bring about an increase in body strength, reflexes and speed, rid the body of any hidden injuries or illnesses and finally change the hair and eye color of the individual.


    Jack Nakamura was most happy about the last part of what it commonly changes. He was half-Japanese and half-English but unlike his English mother who had gorgeous blonde hair and blue eyes, he had plain, even to the point of dull-looking black hair and eyes.


    It may seem like a silly wish when he was about to literally gain superpowers but he wished to stand out, to be able to show off and he just couldn''t imagine a plain looking guy like him doing that.


    If anyone who knew him heard him refer to himself as plain looking, they''d slap him and tell him to fuck off.


    Despite his plain black hair and eyes, Jack was incredibly handsome having both sharp, masculine and noble features made him seem like some kind of warrior prince. Along with his tall height and muscular physique, Jack was a certified lady killer.


    ''Hmm...I''m pretty glad I passed that last exam, I wasn''t quite sure I''d be picked with who I was up against...I heard she got picked for the awakening as well anyway.''


    A tall, curvy figure appeared in Jack''s head. The girls light brown hair and green eyes seemed to be the perfect match for each other with amplified her already staggering beauty. This was his rival, Aya Takahashi, a child prodigy from a family of Espers who excelled and overcame anything she did.


    Well, until she met Jack.


    He beat her in sports, exams, popularity, you name it and she challenged Jack to it and lost miserably. After a while, she started to ''hate'' him and he ''started'' to love her and they constantly had back and forth ''arguments'' with Jack always being love-struck with her and Aya always shutting him down.


    Jack was content with his relationship with her despite her Tsundere-like attitude but when it came for both of them to undergo the most stressful part for any teenager''s life nowadays, Jack couldn''t hold back and fully ran ahead and 100% the exam to be allowed to awaken.


    Jack sighed when he thought about how he thoroughly crushed her in the exams, regret seeming to pour out of his orifices.


    These tests were put in place because while everyone and anyone could awaken, Geno-Liquid cost a hell of a lot of money to make, so the Governments of the world implemented a very complex exam into the end of person''s last year in middle school to make sure they would only pick the best of the best.


    The exams had a few different parts to it. There were tons of mental exams taken, along with subject exams to test a person''s mental abilities faculties. Then there was a physical exam to see if the person was physically the best they could be so the Geno-Liquid could improve them further than a normal human with average physical prowess. After that, they would undergo some other simple tests to see their willpower and emotional and social intelligence.


    Jack, like usual, excelled in all his tests but unlike usual, he took them all incredibly seriously and in the process shocked everyone watching till their hands were shaking.


    He 100% all the exam papers and showed his slightly past peak-human physical condition in the physical exams and showed his shocking charisma and indomitable willpower in the last exams.


    Even though Aya was just like him, she was shocked by his serious attitude and the way he brushed her off. She felt like she''d lost something when Jack looked at her blankly and didn''t have any sort of his usual joy in his eyes.


    When she confronted him with the question of "Why are you trying so hard?" Jack looked at her and simply said:


    "Because I can''t afford to lose this chance."


    Any more questions about why he couldn''t lose the chance were ignored. Only Jack knew that he wanted to leave behind his ''plain'' looks but at the same time, he also knew that was a cover reason. He truly didn''t care about his hair and eye color being plain, it reminded him of his dad.


    The real reason was that his family was falling apart after the death of his dad and he needed to gain enough strength to pull his family together again while also securing a high-paying job which any Esper can gain easily.


    Merely 2 years before, Jack was quite carefree. While he was still a prodigy that made his parents proud, he didn''t take things seriously very much but he wasn''t too over the top. His dad was an office worker who worked his ass off to supply his family with what they wanted and to keep a roof over their heads, while his mom was just an ordinary house wife. Life was good.


    And this carried on until the terrible day his dad came down with a weird illness.


    The symptoms were negligible at first; Slightly lethargic behavior, sensitive eyes and slight memory loss about minor things about where he misplaced his keys or whether he''d left the oven on.


    But as time went on he started to lose function of his limbs but tried to keep it a secret while secretly going to the doctors to see what was happening to his body. It didn''t take long for Jack''s mom to find out as his dad fell down the stairs and got pretty beat up by the fall and when his mom rushed up to him, all he was muttering was ''I can''t feel my legs'' and ''I''m sorry...!''.


    After that night, his dad told his mom everything causing her to break down in fear of what was happening to her most beloved husband.


    Both Jack''s parents decided to keep it a secret from both Jack and his two elder sisters in fear they might do something drastic. Luckily for them, the constant numbness his dad would feel fluctuated quite a bit so there were periods where he was completely fine but behind closed doors, his father was struggling with a body which was slowly shutting itself off.A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.


    To add to the trauma, he kept having extremely intense headaches which felt like someone had taken a hammer to head over and over again.


    His condition deteriorated until finally, Jack and his older sister May figured out what was going on.


    Elizabeth and Daichi Nakamura had been blessed with 3 prodigy children. The oldest, Mikasa, was an incredibly talented fighter and slightly above average in intelligence. Her body was strong and so was her mind, she seemed like some kind of reincarnated martial arts master when she fought. She was energetic, cheerful and kind to everyone around her. She was the kind of older sister who doted heavily of her younger siblings.


    The second oldest, May, was the complete opposite in terms of her abilities because instead of being physically gifted she was immensely intelligent. She was considered a genius of all subjects and only too a few days to master any subject to the high school level. Her genius-level intellect was to the point where there wasn''t any point in her going to school other than to do exams because all she''d do was sleep. She was gentle, calm and seemed like a motherly kind of older sister.


    Despite this, she was quite lazy because of her brain power taking up quite a lot of energy.


    Both of these girls awakened as Espers and were shockingly talented in ESP training. But despite their prodigy like abilities, they were outshone by their little brothers''.


    Jack was like a mixture of both his older sisters while being even more of a monstrous prodigy. He was both mentally and physically gifted and excelled at anything he did. This lead to him being carefree, confident and a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. However, he never developed any kind of arrogant behavior and was kind to everyone regardless of their abilities.


    He learned subjects off of his older sister May and martial arts and fighting off of his older sister Mikasa, rocketing him forward but despite this, he never tried too hard at anything like previously said.


    But when he stared at his dad in a hospital bed, his carefree appearance was nowhere to be seen. When he saw his crying and screaming mother, clutching at his father''s comatose body, his happy-go-lucky attitude was gone. And as he saw his usually lively expression wearing sisters looking blankly at their father like he was, he felt his heart ache with pain.


    After this day, his energetic and cheerful sister Mikasa turned cold and unforgiving to people for even the slightest grievance, even Jack and May. May, on the other hand, locked herself away, she became incredibly gloomy and her calm demeanor was replaced with a timid and shy demeanor which lead to her becoming a shut-in who didn''t leave her room.


    His mom had to take up multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet and because his sister May was a shut-in who dropped out of the Esper Academy and his sister was now unbelievably cold and slightly uncaring, the family, or more accurately Jack and his mother, was starved for money and income.


    However, despite the things happening, Jack stayed the same, in fact, he was more cheerful than in the past. It wasn''t because he was happy about his dad being in a coma but because he knew his family needed some cheer in it.


    His mother, who saw her 13-year-old son putting on a facade for the family, cried silent tears; her carefree, baby boy was being forced to mature at a rate much faster than he should.


    Jack was confident that he could help his family pull through this, that his dad would become healthy again and they''d all become happy once more!


    But the reality is harsher than a 13-year-old boy''s dreams. On the day he turned 14, his father passed away in the same bed he was put in a whole year ago. He''d never opened his eyes or spoke a word, neither side got to say their final goodbyes to one another.


    By this point, despite his cheery attitude, Jack was nearly at his breaking point. He''d seen his precious sisters change into twisted versions of their former selves, he''d never given himself any chance to fully let his sadness out and on multiple occasions, he''d walked downstairs at night and seen his Mother holding a picture of their entire family and crying and her eyes out silently.


    Now that his dad was dead and his dream of a happy family had been crushed, he''d been pushed over the tipping point.


    He stood, balanced on the railings of the roof of his middle school building. He finally let a whole year''s worth of tears pour from his eyes; he''d tried his hardest to be strong for his family but he couldn''t do it. Jack couldn''t stop calling himself a coward at what he was about to do.


    Over the past month, Jack''s appearance changed drastically. His let his hair grow long and let it become extremely unkempt, he had dark rings around his eyes from a severe lack of sleep and despite his bronze colored skin, there was a weird paleness to his expression. He''d really let himself go and become incredibly haggard looking because nothing really mattered to him anymore and he only continued to beat himself up about what he was about to do and how much it would hurt his family.


    But he really couldn''t see a way out. His family had fallen apart and he was at a real low-point.


    That''s when it happened when he met her.


    Aya Takahashi had recently moved to his Middle School, stunning everyone with her prodigal abilities, impressive background, and her impeccably beautiful face and body. Jack hadn''t paid much attention to her at the time because of obvious reasons.


    She''d just been about to exit the gate for the school when she saw a tall, black-haired youth with tears cascading down his face looking like he was about to jump off of the railings he was balanced on.


    Her deep down kind nature spurred her on and she rushed to the roof. She got there as soon as Jack was about to step off the railing and she desperately grabbed his school blazer and dragged him back with a force which didn''t look like it came from a lithe beauty like her.


    Jack was shell-shocked by the sudden pull back but the next words he heard were the real shell shocking thing that day.


    "What do you think you''re doing?! Killing yourself by jumping off your Middle School Building''s Roof?! How stupid and immature of you! Think about your family you idiotic idiot!" her voice sounded so angry but Jack could hear the worry underneath her anger.


    That''s when he, someone who''d seen country-destroying beauties such as his sisters, fell in love with the person who helped him out of his lowest point.


    The next hour was him confiding in Aya about his situation. She cried at parts, cried at other parts...she pretty much cried at most of his story before her angry demeanor disappeared completely replaced with an expression of pity before dragging Jack into a hug.


    After that, Jack got up, bowed toward her and went home.


    He vowed to never be so weak, ever again.


    He took a few month leave from school and fully got himself back into his usual shape and then pushed himself past that. Unlike his past carefree attitude, Jack was now very serious when it came to his training.


    He took note materials from both his sisters and pushed himself further. It wasn''t until 5 months after his meeting with Aya that he went back to school and met her again.


    She didn''t seem to remember him, however. Jack had to admit he had changed immensely after the 5 months of serious training. His hair was shorted and swept back towards the back of his head with a few strands falling on his forehead, which was completely different to his shoulder-length unkempt hairstyle she saw.


    His eyes were also free of black circles and weren''t dull and gloomy anymore. His skin was back to it''s full and healthy bronze color and his body had gotten taller and more robust.


    Jack decided to not tell her that he was the boy she saved all those months ago because he didn''t want her to remember him by that weak appearance.


    And there began their competitive spree and the rest has already been said.


    His family was still in shambles but his mother was slowly getting better, her period of mourning was nowhere near over but she was finally smiling again. Little did Jack know that he was the reason for her rapid recovery as she''d saw her son acting brave so she knew she had to help support him. A mother''s love could overcome any obstacle.


    His sisters were the same, however, but Jack figured they''d eventually return to normal.


    As Jack was thinking about all this with his eyes closed, the nurses had set up all the needles and machinery for the procedure.


    "We''re going to inject it now, Nakamura-san." One of the nurses said, to which Jack nodded and closed his eyes, relaxing his body as much as he could.


    He felt pricks of pain all over his body as the needles entered his body, followed by a cool sensation as the Geno-Liquid was injected into his body.


    The process of Awakening had begun.

 Chapter 1 - Awakening the ESP Abilities

    Unlike what Jack thought it would feel like, the Geno-Liquid didn''t hurt his body, nor cause him any pain it just flowed through his body leaving a cool sensation lingering around his body.


    The fact there was no pain allowed Jack to have some idea on what was happening in his body.


    He could feel his already slightly inhuman physical abilities transcending themselves and breaking through some kind of limit. This was the limit all humans had that made them hit a plateau when they reached a certain physical condition.


    Unlike what usually happens with most Espers during their awakening, Jack didn''t feel any kind of feeling to what kind of power he had. Espers with fire abilities would usually feel incredibly hot and ice ability users would usually feel incredibly cold.


    But all Jack could feel was the cool sensation and the fact his body kept getting stronger. Weirdly, as the body strengthening continued Jack''s body started getting bigger and bigger, from his already tall figure of 198cm he soon reached 210cm causing panic to appear on the Nurses'' faces around him.


    This expansion of his body wasn''t without pain and sweat started to seep out of his skin as Jack grit his teeth to try and get past the pain.


    As nurses ran around and started pumping a red and pink looking mush into his body, Jack felt some kind of pressure on his body, like something was trying to compress him.


    As soon as he started to feel this pressure, the nurses watched in shock as his body slowly compressed itself back to how he looked before. This process wasn''t very comfortable for Jack but he continued to grit his teeth and reminded himself of what he had to pull through for; his precious family.


    Much to Jack''s suffering, the process of him getting bigger and then compressing that size back down to his original happened 5 more times.


    After all of that happened Jack felt all the fibers in his body vibrate as if testing if his body was strong enough to handle his power. Along with the vibration throughout his body, a spark of energy appeared in his head, it circulated between his head and his heart before going around the rest of his body.


    Jack wondered what both of these powers were because neither of them gave off any kind of elemental affinity/energy.


    The vibration varied quite a bit like it was testing multiple things. Jack thought that it felt less like an awakening of a power and more like a doctor checking if the body of a patient was fine.


    At points the vibration felt like it was testing the strength of his body, at other times it felt like it was testing the body''s ability to absorb vibrations and it''s durability but before long the ''test'' was over and a screen next to Jack lit up with green lights with a white tick in the middle of the screen.


    As some of the nurses were undoing the restraints on his body, another nurse was reading a piece of paper that came out of the machine next to the screen with the tick on it.


    The nurse seemed surprised and took a few glances at the devilishly handsome youth next to her.


    The youth in question had a wide smile on his face. Not because he''d seen the results of the ability; he was sure he''d be able to become strong with any kind of ability as long as he used his talents. Nor was it because he actually successfully awoke as an Esper.


    No, it was because he''d seen his reflection on a mirror one of the nurses had just brought in.


    His plain black eyes and hair were now quite exotic in color. His hair was as white a snow, looking incredibly pure and free of any impurities and his eyes were a blood red seeming to give off an aura of some kind of beast despite looking exactly how human eyes should.


    Jack stood up and instantly felt a difference in his body; he weighed way heavier than he did in the past. But after a while, Jack felt something else; power.


    It felt like his muscles had more muscle packed into them and his bones had more bone packed into them, in a more understandable way, he felt his body was much denser. Feeling this, Jack found what that compression from earlier was doing, it was making his body stronger by packing more of everything into his body.


    Jack knew this wasn''t how Geno-Liquid usually strengthened the body, so he was a bit confused but it was known for Geno-Liquid to enhance a person in different ways depending on their power. Some people would get fire-resistant skin and hair, others would get a body which wasn''t as badly affected by Electrical attacks as the normal human, Jack guessed his powers needed a strong, durable body to be used.


    As he was standing up and walking around trying to get used to his new strength and weight, Jack was interrupted by the nurse reading the piece of paper with what was presumably a list of Jack''s ESP Abilities.


    Before she started reading, Jack felt the mysterious energy in his body dispersing into his cells and starting to do something. It didn''t hurt, but it had the same kind of cool sensation the Geno-Liquid had. Jack could only hope he wouldn''t start expanding and then compressing again.


    "Nakamura-san, do you wish to know your powers?" Jack was taken out of his stupor at what the energy was doing by the nurse''s voice. He nodded to her question and looked at her with his calm, red eyes.


    "You have two ESP Abilities Nakamura-san, both of them being quite strong. You gained Superior Vibrokinesis and Superior Somakinesis." She read these with a genuinely awe-filled smile.Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.


    Jack was taken aback by what she just said.


    ''So I have Vibration Manipulation and Biomass Manipulation? Holy shit!"


    Jack immediately broke out in a beam-like smile stunning the nurses surrounding him. He''d be okay if he gained a common ability such as Pyrokinesis or Telekinesis but to gain not one but two strong powers, Jack finally felt he could catch up to those people.


    Those people being his now twisted older sisters.


    Seeing as Mikasa was 4 years older than him and May was 2 years older than him, they''d both had way longer than him to gain power but despite their potential and their power, they never helped their mother past the bare minimum needed.


    One of Jack''s mini-objectives was to thoroughly beat his older siblings into realizing their mistakes in not helping their mother and hopefully getting his normal sisters back.


    But even with his newly-gained powers, this was much easier said than done.


    His older sister May had both Superior Pyrokinesis and Superior Cryokinesis and impressive control over her power. With Jack''s current power, he''d most likely not be able to get anywhere near her.


    His older sister Mikasa had Superior Body Manipulation and while that was a sub-power of his Superior Biomass Manipulation, she''d pushed her power to its very limits in her pursuit for personal power and glory. Along with her incredible martial arts mastery, she''d probably wipe the floor with Jack in close range.


    He may have more talent than either of them but he was still much, much lower than the two of them in power.


    Still, Jack continued to smile as he thanked the nurses for doing a good job and not messing up before walking out of the room. He had to return a week later to see if his body was stable and whatnot and to do a few other tests to see if he was fine and adapting to his powers correctly but for now he had to go home and try his powers out.


    Most people would stay at the center and do that but Jack wanted to go home and tell his mom about his successful awakening.


    After thinking about his now hefty weight, Jack started thinking about how much he now weighed.


    Before the change, he weighed around 115kg or 254lbs and now he felt like his weight had increased by about 4 or 5 times so he was around 500kg or 1102lbs which struck Jack like a lightning bolt.


    ''Well, looks like elevators are off my list forever now...''


    His shocking weight would probably be a boon in combat because, for some reason he just could feel the weight, it was like his body still weighed 115kg still. Jack shrugged it off as something to do with Biomass Manipulation and continued on his way home.


    10 minutes later~


    Jack looked at the house in front of him. It had two floors like any other house and it was of a decent size but the problem wasn''t the house but more the neighborhood it was in.


    The place they were in was known for the intense gang wars that went on and while murders weren''t a common occurrence, they weren''t exactly rare either. Jack didn''t care however because the gangs never attack him or his family.


    The reason? His older sister Mikasa was one of the big gang bosses of the area.


    Around the time their father entered his coma, whether to blow off steam or to just help herself gain more power to distract herself, Mikasa started a gang with some of her more violent friends and started getting involved with some of the gang wars at the time.


    With her and her friends'' impressive powers, they soon made a gang and ever since she''d been climbing in power. By now there was only one gang that could rival her''s and they''d come to some kind of peace treaty.


    This whole gang thing was one of the reasons he wanted to beat his sister up. She had no regard for anyone but herself and that pissed Jack off in all honesty, so when he was strong enough he''d teach her a lesson and take her gang apart, piece by piece.


    Opening the door to the house, Jack saw his older sister May walking down the stairs. He smiled at her and she nodded back at him, not surprised by his appearance change, before walking into the kitchen.


    Jack didn''t have as much of a problem with May, she may have been lazy but she wasn''t going around hurting others instead of helping their mother. He just hoped she''d pull herself out of her shut-in ways and start helping their mom.


    He followed his sister into the kitchen because he was quite thirsty and was shocked to see his mom cooking and preparing a lot of snacks and food.


    "What are you doing, mom?" Jack was confused, today was one of her rare days off where she''d usually sit in the garden and relax but she was instead throwing her time away making food? The possibility she was making a welcome lunch for him Awakening crossed his mind but he soon wiped it out of his mind because he''d told his mom on multiple occasions to use her rest day for herself.


    His mom seemed surprised by his deep and masculine voice and soon turned around with a happy but tired smile on her face.


    When she saw his new look, she seemed shocked but at the same time, sad. Jack understood her sadness because she''d often say he looked exactly like his dad with his black eyes and hair and now they were gone, Jack felt slightly selfish for wanting his eyes and hair to change color.


    But he didn''t regret the change because he felt the same thing when he looked in the mirror; that he looked like his dad and he couldn''t bear it in all honesty because it hurt to see a reminder of his dad every day.


    "Ah, Jack, your back. I''m just cooking some snacks for Mikasa and her friends. Nevermind that, how did your awakening go? Did you get some good ESP abilities?" Jack''s mother showed him why he loved her so much; she was so incredibly selfless.


    "It was good, mom, I got two pretty good abilities and I was about to practice them. Where are Mikasa and her friends by the way?" Jack''s voice was full of warmth and love when he spoke, with a pinch of pride in telling his mom about his strong abilities.


    The only thing that ruined his perfect son image was the slight coldness in his voice when he asked about Mikasa. May picked up on it and looked at Jack worryingly while she was making herself a sandwich. She knew about Jack''s anger towards Mikasa and his disappointed towards her, so she knew he was about to do something stupid.


    "Oh, they''re in the Garden, why do you want to know, Jack?" his mother seemed confused at Jack''s sudden interest in Mikasa''s whereabouts but didn''t pick up on the coldness in her voice due to tiredness.


    Jack kissed his mom on the cheek, telling her not to worry before leaving the remark of "I''m just going to test out my abilities." which confused their mom further while May was shocked and put the plate down before quickly trying to follow Jack outside.


    ''I can''t take on Sis, but I''ve already figured out a few ways to use my powers to take out some of her weaker friends and new recruits to the gang to get my point across.''


    Jack saw a big group of girls in the Garden and put on a forced smile as his sister Mikasa saw him.


    "Oh, look, guys, it''s my little bro Jack!"

 Chapter 2 - Testing the ESP Abilities

    Jack looked at his sister who was smirking at him. Her yellow, metallic-looking hair and eyes seemed to show her angry and cold nature that she had nowadays, along with the smirk showing her slight disdain for others.


    Jack turned his attention to the girls surrounding her.


    Most of them looked like delinquents, each of them wearing revealing clothes and having some kind of weird make-up on. Each of the girls was looking at Jack like a thirsty women in the desert, causing bits of disgust to crawl up from deep within Jack.


    ''I''m your leader''s little brother, can''t you at least control your lust?''


    Jack disregarded the lustful stares at his face and body and looked his sister dead in the eye. "Hey sis, can you lend me some of the girls here? I just unlocked my ESP powers and I want to spar with someone for a bit."


    Mikasa squinted her eyes slightly as she looked at Jack''s now-blood red eyes. "Why''d you need to fight them? You could spar with me, your dear older sister~" her voice seemed warm but Jack wasn''t stupid enough to believe her voice when her eyes looked as cold as ice.


    ''My dearest sister? If it wasn''t for your power...if only...''


    Before Jack could answer her, the least delinquent looking one out of his sister''s gang spoke up for him. "Mikasa, Jack-chan probably understands that you''d wipe the floor with him so he wants a more suitable opponent~" the girl had dyed blonde hair and olive colored tanned skin but her amethyst purple eyes were what really popped out when Jack looked at her, that and the playful seductiveness floating around in them.


    "You''re right about that, Aiko-nee." Jack wryly smiled when faced with this woman. She was his sister''s childhood friend Aiko Tanaka and while she didn''t cast such openly lustful gazes at him like Mikasa''s other friends Aiko was obsessed with Jack and wanted to secure him as hers.


    Jack didn''t necessarily hate Aiko but he didn''t appreciate what she did to his sister, such as leading her down the path of starting a gang.


    "Hmm, so what do you suggest we do Aiko? Let you go up against him? Ha! Fat chance, you''d eat him alive." Mikasa was aware of her best friends obsession with her brother but she did nothing to stop it, even when she knew it made Jack uncomfortable; she found it amusing.


    "Ehhh? Me? Eat up Jack-chan? No chance. Hahahaha!" Aiko started laughing along with the others while also casting flirtatious glances at Jack.


    ''Why does this always happen...?''


    Mikasa seemed to be thinking about who to send to fight her brother and then her eyes landed on a plain looking girl with a black face mask covering her mouth.


    "Oi! Akane, go and spar with my brother. Fumiko set up a barrier for then, will you?" Mikasa spoke quite harshly to both the plain girl, Akane, and the girl sitting next to Aiko but they seemed used to it and did what she asked.


    Akane walked towards Jack and he backed away a bit to make space. Jack thought that they were lucky they had such a large back garden.


    Once there was sufficient space, the barrier girl, Fumiko, set up a square barrier around Akane and Jack with the measurements of around 10 meters in length, 7 meters in width and 4 meters in height.


    Jack looked over at Akane as he saw her hands seeping with darkness; she seemed to be preparing an attack.


    Jack wanted to try out some ideas.


    First, he started to vibrate his entire body and kept the energy in his body. He did so easily enough, his powers coming to him like he was born with them and didn''t just gain them. He kept storing the movement of his cells and turning it into potential energy.


    To prepare for his powers, Jack struggled to find any kind of material that could help him but one day he saw his sister, May, watching something on her laptop. He later found out that it was Anime, something particularly popular a decade and before ago but soon lost it''s appeal when people could enact what characters in said anime could do and more.


    People were more interested in real-life Espers opposed to fake ones in an anime.


    But Jack came to a realization; what better research materials were there when compared to Anime where the possibility of powers beyond what a human could imagine was fully explored.


    This specific technique was something he''d learned from a character in Medaka Box. The technique was called Kurokami Phantom and while Jack couldn''t exactly replicate the technique he could still use it as a basic movement technique. He didn''t prepare exactly how the character did but he used the same principle of speed accumulation.


    He kept collecting the potential energy because there didn''t seem to be a limit just yet, only a limit on how quickly he could store it.The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.


    The girl opposite him seemed to be ready as she suddenly attacked, sending tentacles of darkness whipping at him like two venomous snakes. Jack quickly sent the potential energy to his feet and blasted off from where he was, past the tentacles and in front of Akane.


    Akane seemed shocked by his speed and so did all the other girls outside of the barrier. Even May who was watching from afar just in case something bad happened was shocked at her little brother''s speed.


    Just as quickly as he got there, he stopped in front of Akane as if the laws of physics didn''t apply to him.


    Jack quickly threw a punch into Akane''s stomach, his hard and dense fist full of potential energy that he dispersed as he made contact with her which added even more devastating power to an already brutal punch.


    Akane was thrown back as she let out a harsh yell of pain before colliding with the ground just before she hit the barrier in front of the surprised group of girls.


    Mikasa looked at Jack with a slightly manic look in her eye. "Oh? My little bro''s already so strong. Aiko, I guess you can go and have your fun." Mikasa seemed to be like a cat with a mouse in front of it; the same kind of predatory coldness came across to Jack and it sent a shiver down his spine.


    Aiko jumped up on the seat she was sitting in, with the same excitement as a kid on Christmas. She walked to and through the barrier and then threw Akane out of the barrier with a flick of her wrist.


    As Aiko looked at Jack, she had a similar kind of gaze as his sister but Aiko''s gaze wasn''t cold, it was passionate.


    "I promise to go easy on you, Jack-chan~"


    Saying this in her usual playful tone, Aiko rushed at Jack with surprising speed and Jack felt some kind of restraint on his arms and legs.


    He could still move but for some reason, he knew he couldn''t use his movement art again, as the air around him was his own little cage and the restraints on his limbs were the chains connected to the cage.


    Jack realized he''d have to use his other power, he felt the energy in all his cells which were passively improving them and slowly making them better and stronger. This was Biomass Energy, it could be used to Augment, Change and Permanently Evolve the body to a higher level. And Jack was about to just that.


    Jack told each little bit of Energy in each of his cells to make the cell stronger, more durable and perform its job better.


    Jack felt his muscles bulge a little and his bones creak slightly before his skin tightened around his body like a protective shield. Looking at his skin, Jack was slightly confused as it looked slightly metallic while keeping its pliability.


    ''Biomass Energy is pretty overpowered, huh? I don''t have any disadvantages even after giving such a vague description of what I wanted.''


    By now, Aiko was in front of Jack and swinging her fist at his face.


    Now that he saw it, Aiko''s movements she seemed quite slow. Not as slow as something like slow motion or bullet time slow but more like an ordinary person swinging their fist instead of an Esper with her power augmenting her physical abilities.


    Jack took a step forward, leaning his body to the side to let the fist harmlessly wave past him. Aiko''s eyes widened and her speed suddenly increased immensely as she backed away. But Jack wouldn''t let her retreat too easily.


    Shooting off after her, Jack used another one of Biomass Manipulation''s sub-abilities, Body Supremacy, and took control over all of his bodies movements and made them as efficient as possible meaning he spent less energy and made more ground at the same time.


    He suddenly turned into a blur surprising Aiko who thought her Telekinetic Prison would stop his Vibration-Based Ability from allowing him to blast forward again.


    Sadly for her, she made the prison to purely deal with his Vibration and not his own physical energy so he could still move as long as he didn''t use Vibration Manipulation to do so.


    Jack soon caught up to her, his efficient movements seemingly inhuman as he seemed to be unrestricted by any outside factor. Jack sent a kick towards her face at blistering speed.


    Aiko saw the kick and ducked under it before going to attack but to her surprise, Jack used his momentum from the other kick to follow through with a heel-kick also aimed at her head. Obviously not expecting such a fluid follow-up, Aiko could only throw her arms up in the shape of an ''X'' to block the kick.


    There was an audible boom as Jack''s heel made contact with some kind of invisible armor on Aiko''s arms.


    Aiko was thrown back a few meters, visibly wincing from the blow she''d just blocked. Her feet were slightly buried in the dirt below her as the force from the kick was just that strong and the cracks behind her feet showed where she used a telekinetic construct to stop herself.


    Jack started slowly walking towards her as he willed the Bio-Energy, as he was starting to call it, to amp up it''s strengthening of his body.


    Aiko looked at Jack with even more passion in her eyes. "As expected of Jack-chan, you''re so strong~" she seemed a bit shaken but she didn''t show any fear instead she looked happy about something. Jack didn''t know if it was because he was still weaker than her or because of some other weird reason.


    The veins in Jack''s body started to bulge as the Bio-Energy started to enhance him further and on Jack''s skin, red lines were slightly glowing above where his veins were.


    Aiko''s breath was taken away as she saw Jack walking towards her. He seemed to radiate an aura of the apex, Evolution''s Favored person who was below none and along with this aura, he seemed to emit strength, absurd amounts of it.


    Even Mikasa looked at him a bit more seriously, her little brother showing power above what she thought was possible for newly awakened Esper.


    Suddenly, Jack stopped and released the augment he''d put on himself. Weirdly, he found that his body was still much stronger than it was before.


    ''I better be careful when I mess around with Bio-Energy, seems some of the effects are permanent.''


    Jack put his hands up in mock surrender. "Ahh~ I give up. Aiko-nee was too powerful for me and I got what I wanted anyway." his voice seemed cheery and happy but Mikasa could feel there was something more to it that she couldn''t perceive.


    "What did you want, Jack?" Mikasa''s cold voice was full of curiosity as she looked at her brother.


    "Oh, I only wanted to know my limits." Jack innocently smiled at her before turning around. Mikasa sighed and waved her hand to signal Fumiko to release the barrier and let Jack out. Jack walked in an incredibly carefree manner as he went back into the house, followed closely by his quiet older sister, May.
