《Conquerors》 Axel Axel stood there. The door was wide open but he didn''t enter. The teacher next to him taped his shoulder. "Come on don''t be shy. Enter." She pushed him lightly and he entered the classroom. The children immediately hurried towards their seats seeing the teacher arrive. They heard from their parents of scary strict teachers that hated disorder. Especially the teachers nurtured by the Conquerors. They stood strait and silent on their desks. When they saw that the teacher was a pretty smiling middle aged woman they were relieved internally. She brought Axel in the middle of the class and faced the children. "Today we have a new student. He is from the Mother Base. He had to migrate here on Base A-2 due to familial reasons." The whole classroom immediately got surprised. The kids were whispering to each other. "What?! He''s from the Mother Base? The Mother Base?!" "He should be really rich!" "Hmph! Conquerors! These monsters aren''t welcome here." "Look at his clothes. Aren''t these military clothes? Why isn''t he wearing the school uniform?!" "Are you stupid? You''re asking the wrong question there. Why is he even wearing military clothes we''re just 15." Variety of remarks were uttered from the children''s mouth. Most of these children were basically non-humans. They did have a body similar to the humans but the children of Base A-2 were of the Lightning-horned race. The rest were humans but they were the previous slaves of the Lightning-horned race. Only humans born from Mother Base could be called Conquerors. The ones who weren''t are immediately title humans and were viewed with distain. They were the same as the Lightning-horned races in their eyes. Of course the Base A-2 wan''t originally called Base-A2. It was called Holy Lightning-grounds before getting conquered by the conquerors. Axel should start introducing himself but he was too lazy to get the children''s attention. The teacher frowned seeing the behavior of her students. She slightly raised her head and glared at them. The children felt something was wrong as if something was trying to open up their skulls. They suddenly felt a pain in their heads. All the students were painfully wailing while holding their heads. Axel coldly looked at his classmates as they suffered. He didn''t even bat an eye since he entered the classroom until now! ''Waves'' He knew that she used the Waves. A power only the humans could use and only accessible to the military. The students only then calmed down when the effect of the "Waves" were slowly fading. This was the kind of teacher their parents warned them from. "Discipline! Order! Conquest! These are our creed! I do not like children disrespecting these." She arrogantly looked at all the non-human kids. "Especially those who aren''t like us." She then clasped her hands and smiled warmly towards Axel. "Come on little boy introduce yourself to your classmates." Such change in attitude surprised the children. Axel only gave her a look before he started introducing himself. He had always asked himself why everyone always gets freaked out whenever he introduces himself. He didn''t really care. It was just a random thought that appeared. I''m from Earth: the Mother Base, Home of Conquerors, Breeder of Champions, Bane of all races!" He straightened his spine lifted up his head and hammered his fist on his heart. "Discipline! Order! Conquest! That is our creed! The Conqueror''s shall conquer! Conquest is our life! Tremble before the Conquerors!" Axel actually looked fearsome and arrogant accompanied with his military clothes. ''This guy has a second name! A noble!'' ''His parents has titles! They should be high ranked military soldiers!'' ''So domineering and arrogant! He calls this an introduction?! He is pressuring us!'' ''If their parents are nobles why are they in the military?!'' All the students were at the same time scared and disgusted by Axel''s actions but they didn''t dare voice out their opinions in fear of the teacher''s punishment. Little did they know that this was the introduction that the Nightmare family had to do in all introductions. He had always though that each family had their own way of introductions. This lead to many misunderstandings and also caused such situations to appear. The teacher was all smiles seeing Axel performing the ''proper'' Conqueror''s introductions. She looked at two boys sitting on the desk in front of her table and pointed her finger towards them. "Both of you get of there." She coldly ordered the two Lightning-horned. The two boys horned slightly emitted a ray of lightning when they heard her. That was the characteristics of their races. Their emotions influenced their powers. The fear they felt caused the ray. If the individual is powerful enough, this could be used as a weapon. The two boys hurriedly packed up and went to another empty desk in fear of experiencing the ''Waves'' again. The teacher pat Axel''s head and brought him to his desk. "Make yourself comfortable Axel. If there is anything you need, just tell me." She headed to he table and sad down. She lazily took pressed a button on her watch and a blue screen appeared on the board. "Ok kids let''s get fast with introductions and start our lessons. I''m Jessica. I was sent by the Conqueror''s Military to teach here." She didn''t want to be long in the talking so she immediately started her lessons. She flicked her palm and a 3d human body on the screen. "As you see this is a human body" She sarcastic stated to them. She closed her open palms and the picture zoomed on the head. The head became transparent and the brain could be viewed. "The lessons I will be teaching are obviously only for humans because any other lifeforms doesn''t have superior brains like us." The original dwellers of the base sweared at her in their minds. She just insulted all of them but they didn''t dare to retort. "The human brain waves could be controlled. The combination of its control and its strength is what makes the brain waves more effective. These brain waves are very deadly but only specific humans could use it. It could disturb other''s brain and harass them like what I did to you all earlier. It could also affect the surroundings but only geniuses could achieve that..." The teacher continued explaining. Axel yawned. He didn''t really need these lessons. He already knew about these at a very young age. If he wanted to, he could even brag about being more knowledgable than the teacher in this domain. Although he couldn''t affect the surroundings, he could indeed disturb other''s mind within a certain range. Such exploit was very hard to achieve. Even the Conqueror''s soldiers found it hard enough to feel the existence of the brain waves but Axel only at the age of 15 could achieve that. He was simply a genius. He closed his eyes and started falling asleep. He was really exhausted. The trip till here took him 3 days. During these three days, they were occasionally attacked by rebel races. This was a trip of sleepless nights. The teacher didn''t even give him a look. It was clear that she could notice him but she didn''t really care. She already knew his status and military rank. The students were all glaring at him but didn''t dare voice out their opinions. The class finally ended and Axel went outside. A silver flashy spaceship hovered on the school''s parking lot. The other vehicles near it looked like garbage when compared to it. A butler in black suit slowly approached Axel and bowed down. "Greetings young master. Master is awaiting your arrival at home." Axel emotionlessly nodded and headed to the spaceship. The butler silently followed him from behind and boarded in the ship. Students and teachers were looking at the spaceship with glittery eyes. "Look isn''t that the insignia of the Conquerors?! To think I was amazed seeing such garbage!?" A base dweller''s teacher pointed at the ship."It isn''t only the insignia of the Conquerors. Look! That''s the insignia of the Nightmare family." "Nightmare family?! You mean the Noble family that engages in the military despite being rich?!" "Yeah! I heard they send their children to battlefield at young age." "The current leader of the Nightmare family Baston Nightmare. I monster in sheep''s clothing. He singlehandedly annihilated and conquered a base all alone without even batting an eyelid int the process. That''s how he gained his title "Cold-blooded". By the time he finished talking, the ship already levitated and took flight. Axel was took out a sword in the ship''s room where he slept. This was his sword. The sword he was rewarded after he participated in the Lionhead''s Base conquest when he was 10. He immediately rose in rank and went from Recruit to Sergeant. The ranks were from lowest to highest: Recruit>Apprentice>Private>Corporal>Sergeant>Lieutenant>Captain>Major>Lieutenant Colonel>Colonel>Brigadier General>Major General>Lieutenant General>General >Marshal>Commander in chief. Axel has a squad of 20 men under him while his father is actually a General in command of a field army of 150,000 men. This sword is very special to Axel. This the only gift he has received since the day he stepped on earth. Even though hit was only a reward, it is still something that was given to him. He sat down and wiped the sword with a clean cloth. This is what he usually does when he isn''t training or when he isn''t in the battlefield. He peacefully sat there cleaning his swords the spaceship shot like a sword towards his mansion Family The night was already dark and cold. The sounds of crickets and chirping birds was all that could be heard. These sounds were slowly interrupted by sound of an engine. Axel''s ship was landing. The spaceship''s hatch opened up and the Axel and his butler went out. Suddenly, loud footsteps could be heard approaching them at full speed. They both ignored these as they expressionlessly walked. As they advanced forward, soldiers in military uniforms lined up paving a long straight line. Whenever they passed a soldier, the soldier would stand straight and bash his fist on his heart. This continued on until they reached a giant mansion. The butler opened the door for Axel and he went right through it. "The Master requires your immediate presence in the dining room. They should have already started their meal." Axel nodded to him and hurried to the dining room. Disobeying orders from his father was the last thing he wanted to do. He arrived at the big beautiful wooden door of the dining room. He slightly knocked it twice and waited patiently. A strong yet calm voice could be heard through the door. "Enter" Axel opened the door and saw that his younger sister and father has already started eating. They were sitting on a normal sized triangle shaped table. They both sat on one side of it. Only the sound of the door that Axel opened and close echoed throughout the dining room. The two that were eating neither told anything by his arrival. Axel didn''t really mind that. He was already used to this. He just casually headed to the last side of the triangular table and took his seat. His food was already on the table so he immediately started to eat. Total silence. It was like only the sounds of forks and spoons hitting the plates were the ones that were conversing. Only when Axel''s little sister finished her meal did she interrupt the awkward atmosphere. "I heard you had some ''problems'' during your trip till here brother." Axel put down his spoon and answered her. "That''s right. We were harassed periodically by this Base''s rebels. I wonder where these people got such firearms that could match ours." He sighted when he recalled the days and nights he passed without any rest. His gun and sword never left him back then. Without him knowing it, his father saw him sight earlier. This made him slightly frown. His meal was also finished so he put down his spoon. His father Baston coldly looked at him straight into his eyes. Axel only kept his gaze for some seconds before lowering it down, pretending to look at his meal. "If that mere ''harassing'' is what makes you tired then you should forget that you bear the Nightmare family''s name." Axel replied him with a neutral voice. The voice he used to speak with him everyday. "Yes Father." Baston wiped his hands with a cloth and threw it on the table. He stood up and went towards the door. In fact, he didn''t even react to anything she did. She chuckled seeing her older brother''s attitude. She raised her hand and all the food on his plate splashed onto his face. If someone were to see what just happened, they would have really freaked out. This little girl just affected her surroundings using the Waves! Of course, only people that didn''t know about the Nightmare''s monster girl would have such reaction. Axel lazily wiped his face and finally decided to face his little sister. "I''m not in the mood to talk right now Lily." Lily laughed and helped him wipe his face. "Finally decided to talk mighty Sergeant Axel!" Hearing her, he instinctually looked at the sergeant insignia on his sleeve. When his gaze returned to Lily, she already had wrapped box in her hands. "Congratulations!" The box in her palms wildly shot towards his face. Axel casually caught it and examined it for a while. He felt really emotional right now but his facial expression didn''t change at all. He carefully unwrapped the bow. "You didn''t really have to warp it up you know." "You should be happy I gave you a gift!" She replied him. He opened the box and inside was a black chevalier ring with the picture of a grimacing dark wolf on it, the Nightmare''s insignia. Axel was speechles. He didn''t really care about what she gave him. It was the first time someone ever told him ''Congratulations''. It was the first time someone ever gifted him something other than the sword he was rewarded. Even his own father didn''t ever mention a word about his promotion to Sergeant. Even thought Axel didn''t show it externally, Lily knew he was happy. He put the ring on his right hand''s middle finger on and contemplated it. "You''re not going to ask for it''s use?"Lily jokingly asked seeing Axel just staring at it. "It has an use?!" He looked at her doubtfully. "Will I ever give my dear brother a ring just for decoration?! No! never!" She crossed her hands together as she arrogantly bragged. "But still...this ring was really hard to get!" Axel looked at her waiting for the reason why it was so. "This is made from a very rare metal that was recently found! I had to fight for it to get it! The metal could emit a gravitational force when in contact with the Waves. This can make you affect your surroundings even if you can''t do so with your Waves! Its range and its strength depends on your waves. Try it out!" Axel opened his right palm and put it above his plate. The rest of his food floated and splashed on Lily''s face. "Revenge" He silently muttered. Axel remained expressionless during the whole process. Out of rage, Lily was about to also use her powers to ''splash him'' but realized that there was no more food. They stared at each other for a while. Lily slowly started to laugh while Axel silently passed her another tissue for wiping her face. Only when her face was clean did he continued talking to her. "Thank you Lily." That was only a short sentence but the emotions and feelings it gives is endless. They conversed for a little longer but had to stop because they still have to go to sleep. "You should rest now Axel. I know you had it hard. For tomorrow, prepare yourself. You know what awaits you." She slowly walked to the door. Just like her dad, she looked back and stared at Axel. "Oh! I almost forgot! Happy Birthday Axel. I would have liked to give you a cake but I spent years of economy for that ring." Lily closed the door and headed towards he room. After a while, Axel finally stood up and also headed to his room. He didn''t immediately sleep but opened the window first. He liked taking fresh air before going to sleep. He looked out and contemplated the view. Of course, he was looking at the stars. There was nothing to look at the things surrounding the mansion. The place shouldn''t even be called a mansion. It should be called a military camp. The place was surrounded by longs electric fences with patrols constantly moving around. Many giant tents and small tents were orderly erected near the mansions. There were many other military infrastructure around and it was nothing beautiful at all. If Axel were to describe it, he would call it neutral. Axel took way his gaze from the neutral camp and looked upwards where the stars shined brightly. He raised his right hand where the ring was placed. He slightly smiled before closing the window and going back to bed. As usual he put his swords right next to him and closed his eyes. Strangely, even though his eyes were closed, it felt as if they were still opened. He slowly opened his eyelids. Axel found this very strange. This was the first time this ever happened to him. Is it because of the surge of emotions? He closed his eyes again and the same thing happened. It was like he could see yet he couldn''t...just like the skin, feeling yet there was nothing to touch. He opened his eyes again to stop this strange feeling but he found out that he couldn''t! He tried opening them but nothing happened. He couldn''t even move an inch of his body. It was like he was paralyzed. Not only that, even his eyes started feeling great pain as if thousands of needles poked through each of them. The pain was so unbearable that he ended up fainting. Duel Axel and Lily were both eating breakfast together. Their father weren''t there this time. They didn''t really mind that. He was always rarely present in their life. They were eating their food while occasionally talking. "Don''t forget that we will spar after." Lily reminded him in case he forgot. She didn''t want her father to throw a tantrum just for that. "Oh...and please fight seriously. Don''t you know that is the reason why he views you so unfavorably?" Axel nodded his head while eating his food. It''s not that he was going easy. All his fighting skills were honed from the battlefield. If he used any of these, it would be deadly. He didn''t want to hurt his little sister so he had to try another style of fighting. When both of them finished eating, they headed towards the training field. Many burly men were either wrestling, sword fighting or gun training. When they saw the two siblings, they immediately stopped all their actions and performed a salute. Just the sound of their fists pounding simultaneously on their chests sounded like a shotgun getting shot. Axel looked coldly at all the soldiers. In his eyes, all these salutes were directed towards his little sister. That could be easily seen. Their eyes were looking at her, their body were facing her and even it looked like the fist on their hands were pointing at her! After performing the salute, they went away from the training field and formed a circle around it. This would be the place where their spar would begin. While Axel and Lily were stretching, Baston arrogantly walked out from a window of the mansion and looked at them. The mansion wasn''t too far from them so everyone could hear and see his entry. Lily finished her stretching. She smiled towards her father before taking a wooden sword and entered the circle. Axel too was done but he didn''t even glance at Baston at all. He immediately took his straining sword and headed in the circle. They both looked at each other. The match had already started the moment he entered the ring. Lily had no stance on at all. She just held her sword with a hand while pointing it towards the ground. Axel held his sword with his two hands and slowly circled around Lily, waiting for an opening to appear. The rules were simple, if you get hit, you lose. They had to act seriously because in a real sword fight, the same rules were applied. Just the effect of a small cut could affect the whole battle. Lily stayed still while Axel slowly approached her. If he were battling an enemy, he wouldn''t even put on a decent stance. He would do everything to stay unpredictable. Right now, he was circling around her in order to find an opening but if he were serious, it would be him the one who created the openings and weaknesses. Axel slowly approached Lily step by step. When close enough, he leaped towards her and performed a horizontal slash aiming her shoulders. She easily parried the hit while taking a step inwards. Lily didn''t wait for Alfred to do any other actions and immediately sent the tip of her sword hanging under his neck. "You lost. We still have nine matches to go." Axel snorted and coldly brushed the wooden sword off his neck. As usual, Lily''s stance was just her standing there with her sword in one hand. She smiled at him and advanced in his direction. This time, she was no longer in defensive. She casually walked to him as if she was going on stroll. Alfred carefully held his sword with two hands in front of him. He looked at her and analyzed her every movement. ''From below'' He took a step backwards while parrying the fast sword slash below him. Her hand slightly shot backwards from the parry, leaving her chest and head while open Alfred took this opportunity to step in and thrusted his swords straight to her stomach. He pushed with all his force, at the same time pushing off Lily''s foot while taking her off balance. He slowly stood up and wiped the dust obstructing his view. When his view got restored, a punch was what he saw heading towards his neck! Amazingly, he managed to catch it with his hand! Actually, this is the very first time he ever caught a punch in his whole entire life! Lily didn''t really give him much time to think of what happened earlier and launched her other fist. Her eyes widened in shock seeing how he still managed to catch her other punch! The shock in her eyes became anger and the anger became distain! "You think you''re strong!" She used her Waves and attacked Axel''s mind directly making him release her fist due to the pain in his head. He quickly used his Waves to counter hers but only managed to slightly reduce the pain. It was obvious that Lily''s Waves were superior in strength. Axel was too distracted by the pain but he didn''t notice Lily raising her knee in attempt to launch a front kick! It was too late! She shot her foot with all her strength to his stomach! The hit was so powerful that he flew two meters backwards! Lily put her hands on her waists and smiled at the boy puking out his breakfast. "I won again...brother!" They continued on fighting until all the ten matches were done. Axel won none of them. By the time they were done, Axel''s clothes were full of dirt, his whole body was in pain and his mind still hurt him. He still considered himself lucky that she didn''t use her Waves to influence the real world or else she wouldn''t even need to move to defeat him. He patted his sleeves with his hands wanting to remove all the dirt from it. It was a funny action because it is not only his sleeves that were dirty but rather his whole body! The soldiers were laughing but they still tried to surprise it in respect of his rank. Nonetheless, it could still be heard. Axel didn''t mind at all and continued on emotionlessly patting his clothes. Suddenly, all the laughters and mockery ended! A powerful and rough voice resounded from the mansion. It was his dad Baston! "Weak! You dare call yourself a Nightmare. Getting beaten by your little sister that is two years younger than you!" "You expect yourself to be able to lead 20 men with such meagre skill! Lieutenant?! You should get demoted to a foot soldier!" He went back inside the house but before completely disappearing, he turned around and talked to Lily. "You were kind of good today girl. Take something for yourself in the armory." After his words, he finally left leaving the two siblings staring at each other strangely like usual. Lily scratched her head looking at her big brother, thinking she might have went to far. Sometimes, there were moments were she couldn''t control her emotions at all. Sometimes she just wanted to be like her brother...um...emotionless? It doesn''t really matter. At least he could control his. That was atypical morning in the Nightmare family. The next thing to do was take a good refreshing bath and change in a new set of clean clothes. Axel sat on the sofa while drying his hair with a towel. Lily walked in the room and sat next to him. "How about I give you the reward in the armory?" He took of the towel of his head, reveling his long silver hair reaching till his shoulders. His deep red eyes stared at hers making Lily slightly shiver. The white hair and red eyes were the characteristics of the Nightmare family but Lily sometimes hated seeing Axel''s eyes. Even though she too had similar eyes, his had a certain special strange feeling. She then realized that she was daydreaming! She was always there looking into his eyes! Axel didn''t react nor respond or even shift his gaze away! He just stared at her with his usual cold face. She regained conscious and asked her question again. "So do you want to or not?" Axel just shook his head, signaling that he didn''t need it. "So just tell me what you want! Please! My actions earlier were unforgivable! I was acting...just like ''him''!" Hearing her, Axel silently thought about how she acted earlier. She might not know it but her whole character changes when she is in battle mode. Maybe the fact of me catching her fist triggered her and caused her anger. The Nightmares were famous for their furiousness in battle. He didn''t really blame her. Knowing her personality, Axel knew this would put a big burden on Lily''s back if she doesn''t repay him back. He thought for a moment and looked at his ring. "Do you still have some of that rare rock that helps you affects the real world? I''ll really need it in my next mission tomorrow. Father used his connection to put me in a hard situation. Don''t worry I''ll pay for it." Lily slightly frowned hearing his demand. She raised her eyebrow and asked him. "Do you have any plans today?" Axel shook his again. Of course, he had school today but he is a Lieutenant! Why still go to school? The only reason he was sent there was to show that a young man like him was already more powerful than other youngsters. He even still had to go to a mission the day after tomorrow and it''s duration was still unknown! She led him in the mansion''s garage and entered a small spaceship. She activated the autopilot and typed the destination''s coordinates. "You don''t EVER tell anyone what you will see nor what will happen!" Axel looked at the young girl leisurely sitting down with her hands on her head. Sometimes she didn''t sound like her age at all...neither did he. The ship suddenly stopped somewhere in a deserted place. They were still within the Base A-2''s perimeter but the conditions of living were so bad that it was deserted. It slowly landed towards the sandy floor but while it was falling down, a mechanical voice resounded in the ship. <> The sandy floor suddenly opened up, leaving an entrance that was big enough to fit the ship. The ship automatically entered the gap sit slowly closed up, leaving the dessert there as if nothing happened at all.
