《Unnamed Wanderer》 RIFWA 1
I begin my tale in what could be considered a state of confusion, but not quite so for my knowledge is lax but it frets me not (wait dont stop reading, I have no idea how that was mined from the backroads of my brain. Rest is english). I''m in the middle of a small clearing nothing of note with a few trees surrounding me and a sun that instinctively says [Morning!]. Breathing in the warm air I check my body, no injuries, no tools, no hunger, thirst or any aches and most shocking of all¡ no clothes. ~Yawn¡ hmm, so another life abloom I see? *Yes¡ who are you, friend? ~You and think more no need to give our posture away to the beast thirty-five meters away to the right from that tree. How can you tell? ~Ya know who kept your sorry butt alive for the last 12 minutes before you gained conscious? Not really, how long have I been here? ~You don¡¯t know, spent a quarter million years trying to discover that through many convoluted methods, heh caught yourself on tape once. Just pop¡ went your head as you tried to watch it. So my appearance isn¡¯t the first? ~Yes and no, you will discover that answer eventually, now a couple goals for you to accomplish while I work on figuring out what this new body is and fixing any of natures oh so lovely nurse murphy''s mistakes. Murphy? ~Just a running joke through incarnations she he not with this planet, is the representation of nature. Just a boring fact that hasn¡¯t much use. Mind telling me your goals? ~Make a weapon -> Find Water -> Create Shelter -> kill something for food/clothing. Weapon¡ what''re my options? ~Find materials first, sweetheart you¡¯ve done this more times than breaths you will take in this entire life. Its ingrained in our soul by now¡ if it wasn¡¯t impregnable in the first place. Walking through the forest and avoiding that beast at the start, with the voice giving me directions to the nearest stream. Picking up a few sticks here and there alongside a sturdy vine pulled from a tree the sound of rushing water enters my ears and a river of life comes into view not long after. With the second task finished I sit down and rest my feet in the water, grabbing the vine and sticks I think for a moment then like instinct a thought comes to mind¡Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. After half an hour of experimenting my hands forge three objects. A sharp wooden spear made from the sturdiest stick sharpened through one of the dried stones with a broken edge. A small sling to hold the spear on my back and¡ a thing? Like a ball and chain but made of nature rather than steel. I gather these up and head to the forest¡ voice anything nearby to kill? ~¡ ~ huh? Oh, yea¡ eh? Want to kill a corpse? ¡ no that¡¯s already dead. Anyways loot that thing to your northwest, no west. Yea, I wonder what a dwarf is doing all this way in a forest like this. There''s at least 25 miles from civilization. Following my directions after ten minutes of walking a rotting smell starts to develop. Emanating gasses that tickle my intestines and try to convulse me into vomiting A partly rotten corpse of a short man lies on the ground, missing his head and much of his internal organs and flesh what remains are clothes too small to fit me and broken bits of metal from what was once an axe. Nothing too useful but still thick cloth can be cleaned and used in a myriad of ways. Walking back to the river a new sensation hits me¡ hunger. Grabbing my spear, I weigh my options on how to alleviate it vegi¡ ~FISH Fish it is. ¡ ¡ Next, to the river I ready my spear putting my hand in the water I disturb it a little to attract attention¡. A fish changes direction and charges at my fingers. Ten meters Three meters Now. Throwing the spear at it squares it directly on its right fin and its body, crippled in movement it still tries to swim away but my hands are faster than it. Leaving the gutted three horned fish with small barbs on its tail, which ill name horny pike, to dry on a stick I gather some twigs, bark and dry grass. Just something that feels natural, gathering them in about five minutes I feel as what to do next but¡ unsure of how to proceed. ~See those stones over there? Yea grab two of them about the size of that fish''s head and bash them together. Following along sparks rain down and eventually, a bit of the grass is lit on fire. Putting the now descaled and gutted fish over the fire to cook I grab some cloth scrapped from the corpse of the little guy and start washing it in the water. ~Done Thanks, myself. I finish with the now 95% free from blood shirt and eat the fish meat. While the taste is lacking It sates the hunger. Fed and some accomplishments, what else could I want to end the day on? ~A bed of course¡ and maybe a woman or two. A bed, yes¡ a woman is nice when you thrive, but I merely am here to survive. ~Glad to hear ive got a brain behind the steering. Steering? ~Just ignore it. So what am I to do for shelter? ~Eh lemme look for the blueprints¡ Desert shelter, no. Jungle canopy¡ ah, here it is Forest section. Huts, teepees, and caves. Ya, remember any caves? No rock outcropping or cliff to support one. ~Your stuck with the basics then, lemme grab the thought¡ ¡ ¡ and there. What hit me felt like a knife scraping the inside of my skull for a few moments before it cleared up and¡ instructions came to mind. ~Painful, limited in usage but effective. Warn me, please Sifting through the information I first find a few trees a decent distance apart and use nearby vines to set up a hammock. After an hour and a half, I finish just in time for the sun to set. Grabbing my spear I head back to the water for another fish and only return with little light to spare. Grabbing the two flint stones I bash them together, but the flames remain troublesome as the little stack of dried delights refused to light the first couple of times. Eventually I settle down on the roughly crafted yet comfortable hammock lulls me to sleep ending my first simple day¡ unless you count the dwarven corpse earlier.
RIFWA 2 A nice restful night, a little uncomfortable without clothes but manageable. A couple of minutes by the river and a stab here and there and I notice something voice ¡ VOICE ¡ Ok, he''s gone, and now I feel lonely. Grabbing the three fish for today I start a small fire and let them roast while keeping a watchful eye on them as I clean the rest of the clothing. Some linen used as pants, too short and to thin to be used for me, white shirt, same case as above. It''s quite odd that he had nothing else on him though, might''ve dropped it after he ran for his life. He also could''ve taken a stance and had his tool break leaving him an easy target. That metal could come in handy if I need a mace, some of this cloth could be easily sacrificed for a cru¡ CRAP THE FISH. In my absent-minded state one of the fishes had fallen into the fire and started burning, thankfully the other two were just about done the cooking but the black ones now food for his friends. I''ve finished the clothing though so now its time to head back to the bed. Another ten-minute walk to find my home occupied, by a small raccoon-like animal. Grabbing my fishing spear, I charge at the little beast and throw it at a good distance. It takes off into the forest but after chasing it, the wood sticking into it must''ve slowed it down. Grabbing the little vine and wood I circle it above my head once and slam it into its back. Squealing in pain and terror a couple more strikes and a final merciful separation of head and body through the pointy end of the spear and brute force finishes it off. Now I''m a bloody mess, dangling a corpse that holds little value in my hands. Picking up its head I judge its weight and throw it into a nearby thicket. Oddly mid-throw I feel a tingling sensation in my mind before it ends, a little less tired now, odd. Tiresome gutting process with the spear I bring the rest of the corpse back into the home, where I hang it on a branch to dry for twenty minutes while I cleanse my body of blood. Bloody clothes are uncomfortable but I''m still not wearing anything. ¡ Home and fed with fish, with the meat now roasting on the fire I''m eager to try the nearby wildlife. Clothing problem should be sorted now though, with only a shirt, pants and poorly prepared rodent fur I doubt anything too comfortable will be crafted. Still, though, the basics of survival include patching up holes in clothes and creating patched clothes isn¡¯t much of an issue. Finishing my plan in mind I tear off one of the arms of the shirt and the strip connecting the front and back with it. Using this cloth as a stitching material I tear the pants into shorts that fit me and expand the size of the legs at the side with the excess material. Using a wooden needle, the job is clumsy and will require daily care but is invaluable if I am to meet someone out here. The light ends nearly at the same time as my shorts are finished, I overestimated my flesh''s diameter and the shorts are too big but it''s better than underestimating it and having to recreate them. At least it''s not anything a simple vine can''t hold up. I work by firelight into the night and somehow manage to attach the fur from the animal to the shirt through two big notes on each side of the shirt. With clothing that will make someone without anything laugh at it, I still find its warmth better than the damp air. ¡ Sleep was rougher, still better than nothing but still rougher than yesterday. I''m now clothed and with the meat from yesterday as my breakfast my reasoning for staying is now empty. Gathering my few possessions, a small number of metal shards wrapped in a bit of cloth, the two flint stones and fish I augment what was once a hammock into something with tighter holes and wrap it around my back as a pseudo-nap-sack/backpack. With my spear strapped to my side and backpack on I journey down-river. The water itself is nice and clear, letting me spend time watching the fish swim by. Mainly the horny pike I spot some other variations of fish but ill only name them if they enter my belly. ¡ Walking along for nearly half the day I listen for critters in the forest and my ears start to pick up on something. I move in the forest and it appears to notice me as it scuttles away in the opposite direction of me. Moments later an odd sound comes into my ears, and without thinking my body tenses and I duck behind a tree angling myself between me and whatever I''ve come across. (Twang!) A thud hits the tree and my body relaxes, I hear whatever beast it is let off a squeal of anger. Its squeal is similar to whatever that rodent I killed yesterday was, taking the opportunity I rush at the beast.You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. Passing the tree, I see what''s embedded inside and my blood freezes for a moment, out of it sticks an arrow. While rushing I imagine what would''ve happened if the arrow hit me¡ my blood flowing out falling to the floor in pain and this beast finishing me off. These images create a feeling inside of me¡ What do I feel? What is it? The blood makes me restless, my death at its hand makes me shiver these two feeling battle it out while my body and spear reach the creature who nearly has another arrow on its bow. (Swoosh) Stabbing at the beast my mind takes note of it, like fish it has scales covering its body, but its shape is strange¡ like me it''s humanoid. Yet its scales are different than that of a fish, less colorful being a dull grey color. Its height is also extremely small, only two of the rats stacked on top of each other match its size and yet its thin body speaks little of any strength. Ignoring its aesthetics, it can finally start pulling the bow back and redirecting my spear from stabbing it I smack it away. Losing its grip on the string the arrow falls from it and it tries to slam me with the bow¡ useless. Using our body height difference to my advantage I slam into it pushing it onto the dead leaves and sticks that litter the forest floor. Slamming my knees into it I hear a snap and the beast lets out a painful squeal. Taking my spear I stab into it, out of the wound gushes red blood and something inside of me snaps. Whatever the feelings were earlier finished their war, and the restlessness won. Taking my spear I yell a roar out slamming it down into the beast over and over until it snaps in half. Throwing it away I take my hands and start pounding on its skull repeatedly until I tire. Breathing heavily, I finally understood what that feeling that had overtaken me was¡ *Anger. Dragging the corpse to the river I wash away the blood from my hands, on them are a couple cuts from bashing its skull but nothing serious. Its head with a broken jaw is like a lizard, its whole body is coated in scales and a name comes to mind¡ Raptoids. Regardless of what I call it, like all other beasts I''ve met so far¡ my belly hungers for¡ The little meat it provides is tasteless and stringy, completely unappetizing. Next time I''ll just catch a fish and feed this guy to them. Much tastier. One thing inside of it I found strange was an orb like object, poking and prodding at it I wash it in the water and nothing occurs. Like a rock but smelling it I get a strange hunger open inside of me, throwing it in my mouth I begin to suck on it and return to clearing the beast of items. Counting what I have from him are a couple arrows and a long skinny thigh bone I could use for another purpose later. In the motion, earlier after dragging his body I left the bow he had behind, while weak and poorly crafted It still is a bow. My pack now would now be much heavier and to compensate for the new weight I tossed the useless vine and wood to the side. With the sun going down, and a meal (albeit unpleasant) in my belly Its as good a place as any to sleep. Throw some branches into a pile and lay on my clothes leaves me sleeping easily through the moonlight. .... Another morning just like any other, except for my sore knees and hand that scaly beast was weak but hurts like punching a tree. Cleaning the cuts on hand that is mostly healed up and gearing everything up after a quick breakfast of horny pike back down the river I went. No more incidents followed until I an overcast shadow came on me and things got darker the farther along the path I went until I literally ran face first into it. A cliff. Not the top but the Bottom of the cliff, and the water simply vanished into it. I didn¡¯t dare seeing where the river ended up the opening to either. Now I have to options, search the forest or try and climb this thing. ~Screen command designated Procloid

Voice! Eh, what is this? ~Eww its a bug, didn''t get all the mana flux processing correctly as well as the system translator is... a bit broken. See ya in a couple more days. Alright bye, I wonder what that thing was? Either way back to the task at hand, what should I do now? Climb to the top of the cliff? Nope, I lack the ability and equipment. Turning around I decide to follow upstream slowly walking out of the shadow of the cliff, ten steps in and to the side of me I hear scurrying along the ground. Dropping low I take out my bow and draw an arrow while backing up towards the river. Soon my feet touch the water and whatever it notices me, like its taunting me I hear it scurry across the ground and two feeling emerge again. One pulls at my legs and demands I swim to the other side of the river. The other tries to push my back forward telling me to drop my bow and charge at this new threat. Enough! I shake my head closing my eyes for a split second and whatever it is charged at me. Aiming my bow I have one shot to fire but to my grief, It misses it by a hair, the six-legged creature that looks like a cross between an ant and spider doesn''t even flinch at the arrow and charges at my leg. A stabbing pain in my leg and a burning sensation drives me mad, and anger appears once more. So I bring my fists down on its back but its hard and doesn''t even budge. The pain in my leg intensifies and after three more punches, I lose my balance. I collapse on the insect and it struggles to free itself from me. That doesn''t stop it from attacking and it bites my left arm and refuses to let go. My arm goes numb for a moment then like my leg a searing pain shoots up my arm forcing a squeal out of my own mouth. The pain clears my mind for a brief window letting me think long enough to grab one of the other arrows off my back and stab it inside of the segment between what I guess to be its head and thorax/abdomen and letting the rage take over once more repeatedly ripping out and stabbing this spot until my vision grows blurry and pain increasingly maddening until my vision fades altogether. ... What feels like days later I wake up in the pitch black darkness with my entire body aching, my throat begging for water and an insect head with its jaw still biting into my arm.
Ecnatsiser Nosiop (\\\|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||)
RIFWA 3 The pain is unbearable, as my left arm still has the head of the thing with its mandibles still sunk into its flesh no feeling escapes it. I shiver as I use my good arm to rip the head of the beast off finally allowing my arm to relax, but the feeling has yet to return. I try standing up, once, twice three times but in the dark and with my footing on this wet sand alongside my injured leg is too much for me to handle and I collapse back and unexpectedly hitting the water. Water, the nice relaxing and cool feeling I let it simply consume me, I eventually find a nice position letting the bitten leg and arm slowly filter away what toxins that insect had into the water. The peace and serenity in the dim star night eventually lulled me asleep once again.. almost. ~"WHAT TRIED TO EAT ME!?! There are remnants of class TWO poison inside your body if you didn''t have me here and were a mere human your bones wouldn''t have survived getting bit by whatever it was. I''m so glad I spent the first day making you a high human rather than setting up statistics first." Voice! Oh yes, you''re finally back, the thing that tried to eat me is sitting over there on the sand, some insect. It''s too dark to see it though. ~"Yea, sadly I would love to know what it was right now to say if you should run for your life but I would rather not force any change into you rather than whats basic." What do you mean by force a change [A/N: I made two tables so you can get a better grasp on him I will remove excess information from the second graph as it will be displayed like in the future. I might put a reference table for stuff like this in an Author Note later on in case people want to see it for clarification once more.]

A level? What''s it mean and why is it already this high? ~"The level is something basic that grants you more power as it rises and you get stronger. In this world, you are granted a power by the world itself, a quirk of it. You gain this by killing the beasts such as those fish, rodent or insects, they die and the strength they were born with is dispersed. Part of it enters into you and part returns to the world, you could easily try and take it all but that whore of a planet always attacks for it back. I''m serious, had to actually confront mother nature at times. I''ve enslaved her plenty, though had to destroy her the first few as I simply didn''t really understand things yet." You mean that the planets alive? ~"No I mean that the planet and mana gave birth to a deity who created the rules and enforces them. Each planet is a little different in concepts but magic always remains the same due to their similar growth. On dead planets or ones without magic, such rules do not exist... then again nothing exists on them."The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. That''s a bit much to wrap my head around... ~"Great, gotta work on that wisdom, you should know by now that you shouldn''t listen to everything I say, mainly as you can''t understand it." So back to the question at hand... LEVEL. ~"Lamans term is as you live life you get stronk!" Now that this is settled onto the main topic at hand... why am I here to get strong? I don''t mind fooling around and making memories but things seem too advanced to do just that. ~"Oh its what every interuniversal galactic supreme existence wants to do! Rule Everything!" I could feel the pure enthusiasm in his voice like that of a fanatic crying out his belief to his idle. ~"So what are you thinking? No seriously unless the thought was intentionally directed at me I can''t see it." Oh, nothing in particular just trying to relieve my brain of the pain I feel, would you mind helping me with the injuries? ~"Nothing I can do here, you don''t have any magic abilities and... nevermind you ate something you should not have. Didn''t our mother tell us Not to eat strange things growing in beasts? No? Oh well... time to allocate the right resources, speed up the little processes here and there../" Slowly my body starts to feel numb yet my body tenses up and I can hear my breathing intensify and the flesh that still sends signals to my brain scream of water. The numbness intensifies and eventually, I lack any control over my body and somewhere in the distance, I hear a loud scream as if a man was having his guts ripped out of his body, and force-fed into his mouth while maggots crawl around his body and devour what''s left... Needless to say, it was horrifying. Eventually, as my body released the tension my mind continued to drift eventually into an unconscious like sleep but more of a desire for survival than a desire for rest. Waking up my body feels heavy and exhausted Lifting my arms I get off the small riverside and raise to my feet, extremely groggy. It takes a moment of moving out of the sun before it hits me, my injuries are gone. How did this happen... voice? ~"I just simply did a little stretch that caused a load of pain inhibitors to be released by your brain, then went to work torturing this flesh by forcefully digging perfect mana channels in your body then I went and used those newly formed tunnels in your body to recover that bit of flesh that the little buggy ate yesterday... or was it two days ago?" With him continuing to rant on about things I don''t understand I started gathering everything I had and set up an actual base camp here for a few days to rest and recover from that encounter... with both the bug and voice''s experiments. First, a small clearing, setting up and lighting a fire, and roasting the bug from yesterday... tasteless, tough and something I don''t consider wanting to eat again but better than nothing and with the hunger I have I could go for two or three more. With a firm nope from Voice on learning what the magic was... and him locking out status for the time being i spent the time mainly recovering, although not quite as appetising at first the fish was still edible here and with the rest of the time finding and shaping a replacement for the bow that somehow got broken my time was preoccupied for the time being until I woke up one morning with this to stare at my face.

Voice whats water magic? ~"Say ''Simple dictionary Watermagic'' Do not under any circumstances stay just dictionary... you wouldn''t have time to read that 3285000 volume book compiling all experiences, understandings, and enlightenment from before" *"Simple Dictionary water magic"
Water Magic (Comprehension class 8): Comprehension class is based on wisdom rating
Simple manipulation of water through magic in consumption of stored mana through either local sources or from that which is in the air. Can be used in two currently known modes offensive/defensively: throwing projectiles of water at high speed or control of water to push the target away however the user imagines it. Recovery: Healing injuries which the user or another sustained. (A/N: You have no idea how hard it is not to describe this information in exact biological details...)
So how do I use this? ~"Its different every person... just try it out." Lifting my hand towards the water I close my eyes and imagine a fish made of water jumping out at me and landing in front of me. My thoughts must not have been precise enough... instead of landing in front I overshot it and it knocked me back with a substantial force. Laughter ensues from voice, but only a little anger surfaces before I just sigh and get up off the sand preparing to dry myself off in the sun I realize that I am completely dry. Suspicious I look around and found the fish lying next to where I was, a little malformed from the impact but in every detail, the fish resembles the living thing... only that it''s crystalline and made of water. I move forward to touch it but without warning, it simply loses form and falls back into the water... ~"You lost concentration when you moved, you subconsciously held control over the fish until you took back conscious control when you realized it still existed. I should make this dead clear from the start, you possess the natural talent and inborn reflexes of a god. You do not, however, possess the omnipotence, ability or power of one. If you have a sword and you were fighting a novice you wouldn''t have any issues as your reflexes would cover you. If you fought someone who has formal training to a decent degree you would undoubtedly lose in pure skill." So don''t do anything stupid and overestimate myself, got it... but I think the fact that the bug nearly had my neck was enough of a warning. RIFWA 4 I kept practicing with magic and creating all sorts of wonders with the water yet it lacked power and precision sort of like a clumsy giant. ~"Hold it! No more magic for today, any more and you might not be able to get out of a sticky spot and you would also start feeling the effects of mana drain. Your body holds a normal 50%, with channels opened you get double so taking any more than 50% will drain your natural capacity of it effectively sapping your energy, stamina, and willpower." With the warning in place I stop and check my status... ~60% remains. I take the rest of the day to relax and just fish for food, as well as scouting the nearby forest and making myself a relatively secure place to live. So what''s next Voice? I have time on my side and things to do like practicing magic control, I lack any motivational task or goal. ~¡±What are you asking me for? Well if you Must have one try building a raft using water magic techniques. How am I supposed to do that? ~¡±Wouldn''t be much of a task if I told you everything to do wouldn''t it? Just practice it on your own. Listening to Voice I take a moment and think a bit before attacking a decently sized tree nearby, just thick enough to make a couple logs for the raft. Concentrating I pull a stream of water out of the nearby river and shape it into the form of a blade then throwing it at the tree, while it made a well-sized notch into it lacked much of any actual progress and makes me too tired to progress for long. Giving up on that I direct the water to flow around the base of the tree circling it in a really fast manner¡ nothing but a through debarking. After about three more failed methods at chopping the tree down, I get frustrated and use the water and my own arms to try and lift the tree out of the ground. All of this is quite amusing to Voice as he bursts into a laughter and disrupts my control stopping the wastage of mana. ~¡±Haha! That was a good laugh, heh. Alright, you really really need to work on that wisdom stat later. For now, return to trying to grind your way through the tree with water.¡± Irked but I keep my calm and focus on the instructions returning to the debarking technique and just as before the water just gets full of bark bits. As I talk with Voice I watch the cloud of dust slowly settle and collect on the bottom of a glob of floating water and eventually gain the weight to break the surface tension. ~¡±Now tell me why did this fail?¡± The water didn''t have enough power to grind through the tree? ~¡±No because the water cant grind through it, you would pass out from the strain on the control of the water before you could generate enough speed to dig through the tree. Now tell me what can easily dig through the tree?" Rock, stone and other such hard materials? ~Yes now dump a load of sand into the water and start grinding. Doing has Voice said as I keep the water rotating around the tree I throw in some sand and slowly it grinds down sections of the tree. The method is effective but tedious as when i stop pouring sand into it in seconds all the sand falls from the water. This seems too ineffective for the ''almighty Voice!'' to have as an actual method... Voice is there any way to keep the sand from falling from the water? ~¡±Try twisting it, bright stuff.¡± Ignoring his sarcasm I try rotating the water in place but its much more of a complex task than I originally thought. As such, I was forced by my own stubbornness to spent the rest of the sunlight trying to control the water but only able to maintain the rhythm for around fifteen seconds before it destabilizes and the water literally explodes everywhere soaking me and the ground around. Over the next few days was just a monotony of hunting and practicing water magic. It took about three days after getting the technique correct to dig through enough trees and shape their trunks into a decently sized raft. At one point I exchanged the sand for metal bits found on the first few days which by now has become a super-fine powder. No matter how fine it gets it''s still just as effective at digging through trees. After sectioning all the pieces of the raft together I prepare some fish and some strange fruit that after taking a small bite allowed me to dictionary it.
Stygian Fruit (Blue Variety) Comprehension class 20
A tasty blue fruit that contains a single soft-bodied seed case in the center meant to be injected and secreted by herbivores that rely on its flesh for survival. It holds no real properties of note aside from multiple uses as a stimulant for other ingredients more on this found in the Mad Herbalchamest Chief''s Cooking Diary. Rated as 4.7/10 on the Wonder Fruit Scale Safe for humanoid consumption.

~¡±What did you expect, you were learning many water techniques and applying practical knowledge to it to further increase its usefulness, to this planet you are doing exceptional things almost to the point of being an enigma... more than you already are as you did change from human to high human a day after simply appearing out of nowhere.¡± What''s with the skewed rise in abilities? I would''ve expected something more along the lines of equality on the distribution. ~"Its all based on usage, like when you throw with one arm you get better at throwing with it but that throwing ability isn''t translated directly into your other arm. If you think of it along the terms of that you will do just fine. Though do remember that this is like a totality rule, as the only reason you got the strength boost was due to you having to move about and use strength to kill food and move logs." Using the water and my own strength I slowly slip the heavy raft into the water and board it myself. The raft itself is quite stable and has plenty of space to sit on. So I sit back relax, take in the warm sun and snack every now and then while time to time I control the water to move me forward to practice magic. I don''t pay any attention to the river itself and that is where my mistake lies. Before I can take control of the water is pushed off into a small lake in the middle of nowhere and unable to return to the river as the current is too strong for me to control or fight. The Lake is calm and peaceful, quite strange considering the animals that live here. I look back at the river and see the fish avoiding entering the lake as not a single one comes near. I trust their instincts more than my own so theirs either something toxic in this lake or something scary. I slowly push the raft to the edge of the shore yet unease sets onto me, I throw the fish I have remaining to the sides of the raft and far out hoping to distract whatever is in here as I push the raft ever closer to the shore. Just when I get to the shore I leap onto it and just as I prepare to pull the raft out of the river I hear the water move and something large comes out of the lake. Not giving this monster a chance I break into a dead run as I hear an ungodly roar escape from the beast behind me. I turn my head and get a glimpse of it, its body is shaped like a giant crab covered in scales, two antennae ending in black orbs, which I suspect to be its eyes, are pointing at me. Its large mouth holds spikes instead of teeth and it emanates the aura of an overlord. POV Change (Bare with me its the first time I''ve done something like this, let me know if it''s good or bad.) Sunset, in the middle of the darkening forest a band of four struggling survivors traveling through. The four are all covered in dirt and many carry injuries but each press on and keep quiet cautiously watching the surroundings for any sign of danger. Unlike humans these are dark elves, dark skin and differences in the body give this fact away. Their leader Naria calls them to stop. *Lets stop for camp here, Gilp see if you can scounge any food, Rilor and Princess set up the tents. I will cover our tracks and check for anyone, or anything following us. Heading into the dark forest like clockwork she cleans up any marks of their arrival and starts making many more in another direction eventually settling it into a cave. Here she hastily constructs a campfire liting it allowing her to be fully seen. Wearing a tattered set of leather armor with some metal added for support, her body unlike the rest is without injury but her physique is in tatters like that of a starving prisoner. Nevertheless, with what seems like un-dying strength despite her condition she gathers her shortsword and heads back to camp. Eating what little food they found and drinking in rations they head out next morning pressing deeper into the heart of the forest, praying to God that they don''t meet any beasts they can''t match. Two hours into their new days journey off in the distance a cry rings out. *Over there! We caught up to them, keep pressing men. *Silently cursing their misfortune Naria turns to her party and says, "Crap, we must have been lucky they didn''t catch us in the night. all of you head deeper into the forest don''t stop unless they catch up. I will buy you as much time as possible." Not giving them any chance to speak she grabs her sword and a knife and rushes to a nearby tree dropping low and waiting for the party to catch up. Not but ten seconds later just as they pass her by she does a quick head count before lunging at them. Five in total, taking the nearest one by surprise she bashes his head with the hilt of her sword, not lethal and gives her a hostage. Pointing a sword at the soldiers head she forces the others to back up. *One of the men with a blood red triangle stitched onto the front of his leather chest plate speaks to her, "Listen, nobody has to get hurt just let the poor guy go and you can walk away from here. Look you''re already so tattered just take his rations, it''s in the backpack. All we want is your princess as our prince demands of us." *Looking swayed for a moment she snaps back to reality and stares at the man, "I can''t betray them, especially not after traveling so far and losing so many people just to give it up here." *Not settled with her refusal he tries once more to persuade her into leaving, "Please just listen to reason you know what dangers this wretched forest has, if you leave the princess with us I can promise she won''t be harmed. She will have many more chances at survival in the future..." *Knowing she refuses to give in he eventually just sighs and says,"Jake, Philip chase after them I and Ryan will finish here, pray the new guy lives through this." Seeing them break apart and her delayed for a time no longer usable after the two men leave she lunges at the subordinate intending to overpower him. To her surprise, he simply grins and slams her blade from her hand with his own, much stronger and faster than she originally thought. She backs up a couple paces but he advances like lightning, using his sword he stabs at her. Wincing she raises her arms to try and mitigate the damage, surprised at this the man tries to retract the strike but it follows through. As she screams in pain the man curses that he didn''t mean to hurt her. she back up but due to the blow her stability is gone and she falls to the floor. Trying to rise and struggle with them more the other man lands a blow to her head knocking her down to the floor not to get back up again. RIFWA 5 Fleeing from that beast I stumble upon a clearing, judging from its extremely faint roar its distance is quite far away now and its relatively safe to rest here. lying next to a tree I breathe deeply and realize my throats dry, thinking back to dictionary''s water magic information I focus on the area in front of me and concentrate on creating a stream of water. I ran through the forest trying to dodge every tree and bush, it wasn''t a quick get-away but I trusted the foliage to keep the thing at bay. I heard some trees behind me crack at first but eventually, it gave up the chase and started roaring in my direction. Just as luck would have it, as the roars of the beast started to die off completely I came upon a nice spot to set up camp with some sunlight to enjoy as well. First things first... I''m thirsty. So calming my breath I focus on something entirely new in the area in front of me and concentrate on creating a ball of water. Unlike when pulling water from the river there was no source for this water so I had to completely improvise and make up my own steps and thoughts as I went along. Slowly I feel as if its working and after exhausting around 5% of my mana pool I open my eyes and look around. Eh, where is it I look around and spot nothing and soon become depressed. Just as I sigh and look up to the sun I realize it a bit too late. The water came crashing down on me, it was much much more than I anticipated and the force of it knocked me to the floor soaking me completely and washing away the sweat from earlier. Letting out a laugh I ignore Voice laughing in the background, grinning I slowly concentrate and directly pour a small stream of water into my mouth. Pure water is quite refreshing. I forage and find some fruit for dinner by the time the sun sets I settle down, and make myself comfy with some of the poorly skinned furs I use for a bed and rest my back from carrying the vine bag. I modified the bag a bit back when I was building the doomed raft. I''m lazy, yes I know Its high noon and I''m just sitting in the forest playing with the water magic playing all sorts of made up games, though I wonder how much of this before Voice starts to complain. Still theirs only so much I can do with simple flashy magic before I tire of it and move onward. Picking a trail I start walking my way through the forest once more, its not very thick foliage but can be cumbersome if you''re trying to run. Like I was earlier, I still have a bruise or two from tripping over a thick bush. Surprisingly I found another one of those lizard creatures before it found me, knowing its hostility from the last encounter with one I quickly rushed and just before it could try anything slammed my foot into its chest. It held a small stone shiv but it''s not anything that I could consider useful. Pinning it down I grab the stone shiv before she tried to stab me and for a moment I space out as red and blue seem to cloud all my thoughts and vision. I treat the intrusion as a irritation and as I''m in the middle of killing something I try and snap out of it while feelings of anger and a relaxing calm wash over me. Eventually, as I grasp for control again I let the calmness wash over me and the red light vanishes while the blue slowly dwindles down. Taking the knife in hand I stab into her heart and clasp my hands around her kneck before I feel her body lurch and give up life. Then I begin dissecting her. Just as I finish cleaning off the blood from my hands after pulling the beasts core out to begin snacking on, off in the distance I hear a loud scream. ~¡±I wonder what creature that scream came from, let''s go check it out there could be some useful remains left around. I really hope its a bone of a strong creature, oh all the lovely things we can do with that. Traveling through the forest I rush towards the source of the noise but also taking care to listen for any creature I may encounter. Eventually, a rustling ahead startles me and I dive for cover. (Unknown)¡±Those boys couldn''t have gone far, hey old veteran there''s some more tracks lets keep moving this way.¡± (Incomprehensible to MC) Two figures, their shape looks like me and the sound of metal in contact with itself is present. I would rather not contact them unless I know their ability and can flee if they show hostility. I wait, counting to fifty I finally move and follow the tracks they leave behind and eventually come across a small clearing that boasts of violent activity. Waiting for a moment nothing stirs in the area and dont sense anything living here anymore so I take a step in and the first thing that catches my eye is a corpse. Dark and humanoid and extremely gaunt, probibly a female who is propped up against a tree. ~¡±Call her a dark elf, and are you completely certain that she''s dead, I see movement!¡± Walking over I put my hand over her mouth for a moment¡ shes breathing, her arms are both injured with old cut wounds that look to be healing quite nicely. Her body itself though is in far worse position than her arms are. Like a shriveled fish her body lacks almost any meat on her bones, she''s the best representation of all skin and bones I think anyone could find. ~¡±From what I see about her, shes of a strange breed, her body treats itself differently than most creatures. Instead of the flesh healing that one spot where the injury occurred, it salvages what flesh it can spare from other areas of the body and places it there closing any wound in a rather quick manner. Just look at the injuries, that blood still isn''t dry but her injuries look like they were caused weeks ago.¡± While Listening to Voice I slowly remove her outer armor and manipulating water magic I slowly tend to her wounds. At first, as if she was dying of dehydration her body absorbed all the water I put to her skin. Thankfully instead of draining my mana supply completely it eventually saturated itself finally allowing me to clean her injuries and patch them with makeshift bandages. ~¡±I wonder just what bloodline allows for this? It''s quite unusual for the body to be this flexible in its cells. I highly doubt that she''s the escaped experiment of one of my past¡ *cough* some random mad scientists experiments.¡± Whatever she is, shes hurt and if her skin just covers the injuries quickly then the injuries still exist, it still doesn''t explain so much as to her shriveled state. ~¡±Didn''t you listen? I already hypothesized that her body literally pulls flesh from other areas such as muscle and fat and uses it to replace these injuries. To put it in an easy to understand way, to her a cut is like a drop of blood in a pool of water, it simply dilutes itself but still exists waiting to be removed. Or in her case healed, so get to it.¡±This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. I drag her lightweight body to a tree and collect the nearby instruments, the latter of which weighed more than she did even though it was a knife and sword alongside a small bag with vials and other slots emptied though remnants inside show it was recently full then used. As I finished scouring the area and start to prepare a fire I hear her mumbling in her sleep, anything you can do about the language barrier?¡± ~¡±Been working on it since we saw those two earlier, been twisting wrenches and dissecting frogs ever since.¡± While tending to the fire something shiny from her direction I look over and am surprised to find her awake... with a metal shin guard I removed earlier in hand. It takes a moment but after being spotted she winces and moves back closing her eyes she starts swinging. ~¡±No I¡ won''t go! Leave me alone demons, let me live in peace¡±(Still gibberish to MC) Swinging the metal back and forth she eventually loses her balance and falls to the floor. Rushing over I pull the shin from her hands and before I do anything shes back asleep. It takes a moment but it clicks the girl must be having a nightmare, more than the one in the waking world that is. Time passes, I leave her next to the fire asleep, though I tied her hands and feet to keep her from moving in a fit again. I took a couple short scavenging trips so I''m good on wood and food for when she awakens. About the time the sun starts to set Voice gets active once again. ~¡±Aha! That''s the last bolt to screw in! Gimme just a moment¡ there now in 3, 2, 1. Feel the Burn! Right at the end of his countdown that horrible feeling appears once more, like someone scratching the inside of my skull with metal claws causes me to momentarily lose focus, thought and control. ~¡±Did it work?¡± It better have, I shake my head trying to remove the last of that horrible sensation. ~¡±Yes! You''re not speaking in brain talk anymore it''s a success.¡± So you made me go through that on a whim that it would work!?! Yes, I mean no! Of course, I was completely confident everything would go smoothly there, why would you ever doubt my abilities? Before I reply I hear a groan coming from the once-thought-to-be-a-cadaver, at first she looks around confused then realizes that shes tied up. The shock of it clears her mind and once she spots me her eyes go big and she struggles to try and escape from her bonds while also trying to slither away. I admire her for a moment but the way she moves triggers something In me, I get up and just as I try and walk forward I stagger and fall to one knee. My vision like earlier that day goes blurry and a white sheet covers my mind. It takes a moment but I find tiny specs of red litter all through it. I focus on one and it releases a stimulating feeling, drawing me in deeper into it. I quickly snap out of it and reel back, its nothing like the red from before... and looking deeper at it I realize its pink. I consider basking in the feeling again but ultimately I focus on the white to clear my mind again. I look over and find her struggling to use a tree to try and stand, hope burns in her eyes for a moment but extinguishes itself when she realizes that I''m looking at her again. ¡±No need to run, I''m not going to hurt you I only tied you up for your own good. Wait no, please stop. Hey, voice! Are you completely certain it worked, I''m not sure that she understands me?¡± ~¡±Well, you did just get the language, try practicing with it more.¡± Grabbing her by the bonds around her ankles I try to calm her down more. After a minute she still refuses to listen and continually squirms in my arms finally I use my weight on her and look her dead in the face and say. (Nameless)¡±Look If you would stop struggling for one second I can cut these vines, if you want to run away after that fine by me, but do know that that little pile of fruit over there next to the fire so please stop struggling, ok?¡± ¡±... ok¡± Finally, I tear the vines apart with the knife I found earlier and by the time I stick some fruit in her hands she has calmed down enough to talk. ¡±Why¡ did you do this for a deldealos?¡± ¡±I did it cause you were hurt and needed healing, plain and simple. Though whats a deldealos?¡± ¡±Its what you humans call my kind, and you have to have a reason. Everyone would want something from me after saving my life.¡± ¡±I don''t really have a reason just did it on a whim, deldealos¡ arent you called Dark Elves?¡± Biting into another of the fruit she gulps it down ravenously after wiping the juice from her face she looks glaringly at me and says, ¡±Once a long time ago before humans changed it. It still is in our native tongue¡ those few who know the tongue anymore. Besides that, you must have a demand or such, humans always do. No matter saving another not your own is still strange.¡± Turning back to her fruit I simply sigh and think it over for a minute... what should I say? I really wish I understood how she thought¡ any help there Voice?¡± ¡±Nope, not even if you held the ability and power to get into her mind unless you have tons of equipment lying around to translate what her brain says into something that can be understood in yours its a pointless endeavor. What you need most right now is wisdom¡ or specific knowledge.¡± ¡±If you want a reason so badly then¡ knowledge? I don''t know much about things . Just look at my clothing, I''ve lived in this forest my entire existence and consider everything you''ve shown me. Clothing, tools, and an entire world that I have yet to contact.¡± While beginning to munch through the latter half of the fruit she stares at me in the face for a moment before finally sighing in resignation. ¡±I¡ can''t do that anymore, everything I once knew is gone now. Even the princess is possibly long gone at this point. But I still have to try something.¡± Remembering her cause she stands up and starts walking over to her equipment lying on the ground but stumbles halfway through and is unable to catch herself falling face first into the dirt. ¡±You aren''t going anywhere with injuries like that, even if their not on the surface anymore your body still has to heal.¡± Walking over to her I help her back to the fire and using water magic I clean the dirt that used the sticky fruit juice to stay on her face. ~Surprised she rubs her face with her hands and says more to herself than me, ¡°Was that magic? No, you didn''t have any chant but¡ I don''t understand how did you do that?¡± ¡±You mean this?¡± Closing my eyes I summon a medium sized glob of water and making all sorts of strange shapes and patterns. It becomes quite the mesmerizing performance with the way the moonlight reflects through the water. Glancing at her eyes I see them sparkle with curiosity and awe when I finish, though she quickly hid it away when facing me again. ¡±Yes, how are you doing that? It''s not very strong but your not using any chants to control it.¡± Juggling some water in my hands I just shrug, ¡°It comes naturally to me like I said I''ve lived in this forest for a long time and have never been taught anything like chants.¡± Returning to the original question she tries once more to head over and grab her weapons, but as she stands up I grab her arm and pull her back down. ¡±Look at yourself before you die by tripping and breaking your skull on a rock. Your body is extremely exhausted, those injuries don''t just disappear into nothing. Its taken a toll on you so for or now, forget about your ¡®princess¡¯ as your involvement will do more harm than good at this point. Just think about it¡ for now, I''m going to sleep. Looking after you was quite a task and I''m quite tired now.¡± With that said I lay down enjoying the last of the fire''s warmth, eventually I hear her let out a sigh and lay down. Eventually, as if to comfort herself she hums a soft tune to lull herself to sleep, I listen in and slowly drift into a nice slumber.
