《Is This Really Another World?》 Chapter 1:Starting new lives in this world! My name is Shawn Martinez, an average high school student. My daily life is just going to school, going home, do my hobbies, repeat. Today I was running late for my first subject, and to make it worse we have a quiz on that subject and it was raining really hard. "What the heck, is my luck really that bad?" I could only say those words because not only it was raining, but also there''s no bus to ride on. After about 10 minutes of waiting at the bus stop, one finally passed by. I immediately got inside and told the driver where I''m going to and I also told him that I''m very late and need to get there in about 5 minutes. I got off from the bus and rushed to my classroom as fast as I could. I went inside and I saw my teacher already there, he looked at me and said, "Mr. Martinez, it appears you''re late again." The rest of class laughed a bit at what he said. "It can''t be helped Sir, it rained really hard and it took a while for me to get inside a bus." I sat down on my seat and prepared myself for the quiz. The teacher gave us the quiz and after reading it, I noticed something. "Crap, only half of what I reviewed for is on this piece of paper!" I screamed internally because I only know half of the answers on this quiz. 45 minutes later. "Time''s up! Exchange papers with your seat mates!" The teacher shouted. I barely made it in time a rashly exchanged with my seat mates for checking. "Shawn Martinez, score 30/50" "Crap." The teacher collected the papers and left the room. My clasmate, Paul, went to me and said "Dude what happened to you man? You got the lowest score today." "Uh, half of the questions in that quiz, I didn''t have any idea how to solve it." "Oh I see, what the!?" I bright light in the shape of a circle appeared in the middle of the room, as well as a bunch of strange figures I can''t read. I shouted, "What the heck is happening!?" "Everyone, get outside of the classroom right now!" But it was too late and we all lost consciousness. When we woke up, we weren''t inside our classroom anymore. We are inside a large chruch like structure. I surveyed the surroundings and I saw a lot of people that are also wearing our uniforms and other students from other schools "I have a good and bad feeling about this.." I muttered softly as I looked around. Then on what looked like a pedestal of sorts was a man who looked quite old. He smile and said "Welcome everyone, my name is Rast, and this world is named Magica Mundi!" "I already know where this is going to.." Chapter 2: Giving these people their new identities! "What!?" "Can''t you just send us back!?" The complaints of the people could be heard from all four sides. "I''m very sorry everyone, but this is the fisfi time this happened, an area with an enormous amount of magic exploded and released it''s contents and as a result, you have ended up being summoned here. Again I''m very sorry as we still have no idea how to undo this" "Well if he''s saying the truth, there''s no point in not accepting his explanations right?" "You seem really calm Shawn, are you alright? Rika my classmates, said while looking extremely worried. "Well Rika, as I''ve said before it''s seem that Rast guy is telling the truth. All we can do at this point is accept it. And while we''re here in this world, we should might as well enjoy ourselves here right?" I smiled at Rika as a said those words to comfort her, and she smiled back. Then Rast looked like he was about to say something. "Everyone, if it''s alright with you, could you become adventurers? Don''t worry, we have already settled our disputes with the demons a long time ago. Furthermore, I sense a large amount of magic power from each and every one of you. If you''re skilled enough, you could also become one of the Imperial Magic Knights which are at the capital." "I wonder what kind of magic I have?" "Magic sounds really cool, let''s do it!" " I want to try using magic and get into those Imperial Magic Knights!" Various opinions are heard from all four sides again. Then Ian called me and asked "Hey Shawn, do you think my stats in my game would be the same here?" I remembered he was quite an RPG addict. "I don''t know. But you''ll be really lucky if it is!" Maybe life here won''t be so hard. Hopefully. Rast returiand started handing out the Adventurer Cards which were blank. "As all of you can see, it has nothing in it, you need to drop your blood on it and your profile will automatically be made." I got mine and dropped my blood on it. But even if I know those two were low it hurts to see them in numbers. Ian called out and asked if we could look at each other''s Cards. "Woah your lucky, your stats are really high, it''s like your game!" "Your''s is amazing too, your strength is the same as mine. Who knew you were a muscle head!" After Ian who was still drooling over his Card, I told myself. "I need to know what Skill Proficiency means." When I went to look for Rast, he was explaining to the others. About the skills and stats. "Everyone your stats can be improved in two ways, the first is doing activity that can enhance that particular stat. For example, training your body, this will increase your Strength. The second is using Stat Points that are gained from leveling up. Each level up gives 1.000 Stat Points, so use it to your preferences. Then about Skills, it varies from each individual but the most common skills can be learned from others or bouth at merchants. Everytime you level up, you get 2 skill points. These can be used to upgrade existing skills of learn new ones. Understand?" "Yes, understood." It seems like I can ask him know. "Uh, Mr. Rast can you tell me what is Skill Proficiency?" "Ah Skill Proficiency means how powerful the skills you cast are." "I see. Thank you very much." After nodding to me, Rast called on everyone and said. "All of you thanks for understanding the situation and agreeing to become adventurers. May you all have a bright future ahead! I recommend either going to to Adventurer''a Guild first to register or practice your skills at the forest to the east." And with that the new adventurers who were just students started walking out of the hall considering which of the two recommendations Rast gave us. Ian patted my back and said. "Shawn, for now I''m going to grind my level solo for now. How about you?" "Ah, Well I''ll go to the Guild and earn some money." "I see, when the time comes let''s be in a psrty together, shall we?" "Sure thing," After giving him a fist bump, I went to the Guild which was in the middle of town. After arriving, I asked the staff at the counter if there was a fee for registering. "It''s a good thing you asked, the fee is 500 copper coins." "I see. Thank you very much." After leaving I was thinking on either finding a way to get the registration fee or grinding my level at the forest the old man said. "I should better try using my magic and grinding first, I''m pretty sure I can find something to sell from those monsters." I would''ve preferred a bow and arrow or maybe a sword, given that +35 mana consumption, but I hope my skills won''t drain my Mana really quick. Arriving at the forest, the students looked like they were enjoying themselves hunting monsters. Or maybe no more exams for the time being. *lol* I decided to find a lone monster to start learning magic, even though I have no idea what is Imagination Magic I had a slight understanding what it might be. Looking at my hand, I started focusing. Nothing happened. After a short while, my hand was glowing blue, and wind was circulating around it. "I don''t know what you do, but here we go." I tried holding it like it was Kame Hame Wave but it was still in my hand. Then I tried throwing it, that worked. "What the heck is that? That tornado is big!" Even the other students noticed the tornado that formed even though I was some distance away from them. The tornado was probably 15 meters high, and it seemed that it sucked in not only the first target, but also the other monsters that were relatively close. I was breathing heavily, that skill must''ve cost a lot of Mana. I noticed my Adventurer Card in .my chest pocket glow. "Hmm, Skill: Tornado Mana cost: 50(+18)." The +18 is probably the Mana consumption increase, but that tornado took down a lot of monsters. My experience went from 0 to 1400/2000 The other students went rushing to the exhausted me who was lying down on the ground and started saying. "That was cool!" "Can I join your party?" "What''s your name?" And things like that. We saw someone running towards us. After he came near us he asked. "Who did that magic come from? My party would like to have you even for just this one question we''re about to take. I will also properly compensate you don''t worry." "I am Shawn, please take care of me." "Alright everyone not that we''ve introduced ourselves, let''s get down to the quest shall we? My first quest in this world full of magic is about to begin. Chapter 3: Doing some actual work for the first time! "Level 1?!" "What do you think you''re doing Dusty? He''s level one! He would pretty be much one shot by what we''re going for!" This was pretty much expected, accepting a party invitation without the slightest idea what kind of quest they''re planning on doing. "Please hear me out! I know you know that we are lacking someone that can cast magic from afar, if we help him grind his level, we''ll be able to accept that quest in no time!" "Well you''re right." x2 "But grinding from fourteen levels would surely take a lot of time." "Um, it''s actually ok with me if you don''t take me along, I only accepted because I thought the quest would be something like delivering some items" The three people who were just arguing a moment ago fell silent and after a short delay Rin shouted. "What the hell Dusty, you should''ve told him about what the quest is! Shawn I''m very sorry on his behalf, he has really bad at remembering things, please forget about this!" After throwing the tornado, the result was completely different from before. Instead going for the monster it shifted and hit Lax "Hey! What are you doing? Let me down now!" "I''m very sorry Lax! I don''t know how to! Laz looked as though he was about to mix everything he ate with the tornado. After around 15 seconds, the duration of the spell was completely used up and Laz was thrown into the ground. "Man, that''s some good magic you have there. Too bsd you still can''t control it." He said so as he was breathing slowly not to throw up. "I''m very worry, I didn''t know that would happen! I should have told you!" "Hahaha! Don''t worry about it kid! Anyway know that I''ve seen your magic, I can tell it''s going to be quite easy for you to grind." "Well yes and no." "What do you mean by that kid?" "Actually, the problem is even if I could use strong spells, the amount of Mana I''ll use would be 35% more." "Oh I see, then it''s there''s quite an easy solution to that, after leveling up, I''ll teach you a spell that''s very effective at long range and requires relatively low Mana." This uses your primary element as a bonus erffect on hit. In my case, fire would burn the target on impact." "Oh I see, I already want to learn it!" "Hahaha! Nice to see you''re motivation! What''s more, it only uses 8 Mana per shot, which means you''ll use about 11 points of Mana." He''s right, that skill consumed way less Mana than the skill I have. After recovering my energy, I''ll need to grind some more. "Thanks for showing me Lax-san, I just need to rest a bit so that I''ll be able to cast my magic again." *grumble* "Better eat up kid, let''s go. I''ll treat you for know. Don''t worry about paying back right away, I''ll remind you after we finish the quest." It seems that Lax understood the situation that I was just level 1 and he even showed me one of this skills. We then left the forest and went back to the Guild and them to the bar. Rin and Dusty seem to be done arguing and were waiting there. "Eat as much as you want kid, we''ll return to the forest tomorrow." "Thank you so much! Thanks for the food!" After we finished eating, I thanked Lax again for helping a lot and went outside. "When you''re level 2 make sure to see me so that I can teach Focus." "Sure thing." I left the Guild after shaking hands with Lax. "I wonder what I should do now?" I checked my bag which was teleported along with me for anything valuable. "Let''s see, notebooks, pens, my phone, and my watch." My watch seems to have change it''s time zone to what this world is. I wore it assuming that was right. I''ll need some money, I need to do a simple quest later after completely recovering. I sat around the town square for an hour, or so my watch said then returned to the Guild and went for the quest board. "Hmm, find Dewberries 500 copper per 5 peices. Recommend level 1+" That didn''t sound bad at all, and how come they also have dewberries here? I took the quest and went for the Guild staff. "Understood, are you the only one in your party?" "Yes." "This quest will last three days, so you have a lot of time to gather berries." "I see thank you." After briefing me on the quest I returned to the forest for the third time today. On my way I remembered something, that I don''t know where to get dewberries. There was an old woman sitting by the town square I should ask her. "Excuse me madam, but do you know where can I find some dewberries?" "They can be found around the forest, you just need to be patient." "I see, thank you." Now I know where I can get some, luckily I might get a haul. "And I''m back here, again." I searched the forest for the berries, it''s a good thing that the poster had a picture of what it looks like. "Maybe I should look there." There was a bush behind me and it looks like it had what I was looking for. "For my first time, I got quite lucky." I found 25 pieces of dewberries and placed them in my bag. I already got 12500 on my first 5 minutes. *Let''s see if I can find some more." I went up a bit further and saw another bush, it had 10. Without noticing I heard some noise coming from the other side of the bush. "Crap." There was a boar like monster that lookes really annoyed. I don''t know if it was me or some other reason. "Its time to go!" I immediately ran away and the board was chasing me. "This guy''s is freaking fast what the hell!" The boar was around 10 meters around me and was rapidly closing in. "I guess I have enough Mana, Tornado!" I hope this one will hit it''s target, it somehow did. The boar tripped on a small hole in the ground and tumbled into the tornado. With the boar defeated, my Card glowed again. "Level up! +2 skill points +1.000 stat points. +15 Mana." I should invest my stat points for know, I''ll leave the skill points for later. "What should I invest it on? Maybe I''ll go with Luck, Agility and Magic Power first." I invested .050 into Luck, another .050 into Strength and divided the rest between Agility and Magic Power. Right know my stats were Strength: 1.050 Agility: 1.250 Intelligence: .400 Magic Power: 1.150 Vitality: .500 Luck: .400 "That should do it, I''d better go to a safe area to recover my energy first." I found a big tree and layed against it. "I should have done this where I was still at home." I regretted not doing simple things like this back at home, we even had a tree that I could lay down on too. "Maybe I should get some shut-eye, I''ll set my alarm for 15 minutes." I took my phone and and set the alarm 15 minutes from now. I woke up to the sound of my alarm exactly 15 minutes later. I checked my watch what time is it already, it said 16:00. "I have 2 more hours to find some more berries, let''s do this." After telling myself that I went to look for more and tripped by the root of the tree. "Ouch. Seriously?!" It wasn''t that all too bad, I stumbled upon another bush and it had lots. "Let''s see, 30?!" I''m quite lucky today!" Right know I had 65 pieces and my bad was getting heavy. I should turn back for now. If every 5 pieces is 500 copper, then 65 would be 32500. I don''t know if there is a conversion from copper to silver to gold and then to platinum. But I''ll know when I get there. The lady the forest again and went straight for the Guild. The staff was still there and she seemed surprised with how many I have. After leaving, I went for the town square to find something to eat. "Maybe life here isn''t so bad after all." I never felt this good for earning money for the first time in my life. By the time I reach level 10, maybe I''ll meet possible party mates." I said such words while walking around while remembering my mediocre lifestyle back then. Chapter 4: Getting around in this fantasy town! Walking down the town square while eyeing the buildings I simply asked myself. "I wonder where are all the other students are? It hasn''t even been one day and I already don''t see them here." Right after what I said I came across a bar and heard shouting from inside it. "Come on! Fight me! Let''s see what you got!" "You''re kidding me right? You''re just a newbie here, are you an idiot?" "The hell with it! Why should I be afraid?!" I didn''t know who''s voice that was but I definitely know where the owner of the voice was. I entered the bar to see if what''s happening. No matter what world they are in, their attitude never changes. From social media to everyday conversations, they are still very toxic. (lol) Opening the door, I immediately see broken bottles on the floor and the drunk student rampaging. I went to the bartender and asked him. "How was he able to get that much money for drinks? He should just be getting started as an adventurer." "Well, before he started drinking he told me he was able to defeat a lesser boss monster, and he was awarded quite a lot. You seem to be related to him, is he your friend?" "Ah no no, just someone I''ve seen earlier today." If he was able to beat a monster like that on his first day, he must be very strong. The problem is, he should''ve invested some of the money to make his life easier than using it for drinks. Well, not that I have the right to judge him. "Hey you kid, is this guy your friend? He''s got a lot of nerve to try to pick a fight on his first day here. Tell him to take back what he said!" The other man noticed me talking to the bartender and shouted me those words while I was watching them. "No, you''re mistaken, I''m on my own and I don''t know who he is." "Don''t give me that! Your weird clothing''s are look similar you''re just avoiding the problem!" How in bloody hell did this turn into my problem? "No, you''re wrong. Our clothes may be similar but are entirely different! Don''t group me along with someone like that, surely there are others that has similar clothes as him. Vent your anger on them not me." "Hm, very well if you insist, you''re going to leave then leave. Otherwise just shut up." I''m not even saying anything, how am I supposed to shut up? The beer must be getting on him too. After getting the obvious skewers and my change, I walked around more while eating. Then something entered my mind. "I don''t have a place to sleep, I have to find a place to stay for the night!" That''s right, I forgot that it''s just my first day, and got dragged in by the fact I''m in a fantasy world. "I wonder if there''s an inn nearby?" I looked at my watch and it displayed 7:30. Maybe I should find a weapon to use first rather than finding an inn. I walked towards the part of the square which had shops that were selling various items. "This should be a weapon shop." I looked around and quickly saw a shop that seemed to sell weapons. I entered the shop. "Excuse me, is this a weapon shop?" "Indeed it is esteemed customer! Come on in and have a look around! You have a first time buyer discount, buy now!" "Thanks, I''m looking for a bow and some arrows, do you happen to have some?" "Indeed we do! Have a look, we have an iron bow and a full quill of arrows for just 2 gold and 30 silver. Since it''s your first time I''ll give it for just 2 gold!" That definitely wasn''t a bad deal. "May I hold it? I''d like to know if it''s weight will be perfect for me." "Sure thing, here you go." After handing me the bow, I felt it''s weight to be nice. And since it''s iron, it will last longer than a wood one, and there''s already a quill included. "Alright I''ll take it! One more question, do you happen to have a crafting and blacksmithing skill?" "It seems you''ve done your research, indeed we do have some, I''ll give then both to you for just 1 silver!" "Please do, thanks!" "Thank you too esteemed customer!" I left the shop with the bow and arrow on my back and the scrolls in my bag. With all I''ve bought today, I only have 1 gold and 1 silver left. Hopefully it''s enough for one night. I looked around and saw an inn by an alley and went inside. I saw the staff and asked her. "Excuse me, how much for a room for one night?" "Good night customer. That would be 35 copper. Alternatively, you can stay for three nights for 1 silver." It was cheaper by 5 copper of course I won''t turn down that offer. "Then one room for three night please." "Right away. Your room number is 51. Have a good night, and thank you very much." The staff wrote my name down on thetlist and I got the room key and went to my room. As of now I could only think about sleep right now as I was practically walking around the entire day. I entered my room, and placed all my belongings on the table and looked at the bathroom. It already had a towel inside, how convenient. "I should take a bath right now and call it a day." I took a bath and changed clothes. Then I took out the scrolls that I bought and opened one. After opening the writing glowed, burned, then disappeared. Then something suddenly entered my head. I took out my Card and saw another skill in my passives. Passive: Language Comprehension, Crafting I opened the other scroll and the same thing happened and it also appeared on my Card. I was a bit excited because I only experienced this while in front of a computer, now I''m the one that''s learning the skills. Passive: Language Comprehension, Crafting, Blacksmithing The only reason why I bought these were because I plan on making a weapon in the future. Probably a crossbow if crossbows are still not invented here. After placing my Card back into my bag I hit the bed remembered everything that happened from this morning. "Depending on how things turn out, I may or may not find a way to go back. But I should just do what I can to live in this world." After setting my phone to alarm in the morning, went to sleep hile thinking. "I wonder where are my classmates? I hope I see them again tomorrow, I''d like to have them on my party." My quest still has two days left so I should be able to eat back the money if I''m lucky. And my first day as an adventurer enden in such a short time. Chapter 5:A sudden visit from a friend! "You have to let me through! I need to talk to him right now!" "I understand that miss but he may still be sleeping." "That doesn''t matter! I just have to tell him something!" The arguement of those two people outside was so loud I couldn''t sleep anymore. FIrst thing in the morning and this is what I hear. I guess even in a different world,tehre will always be situations like these. I left my bed and went to the two people arguing outside of my room. "Um miss, what is with the noise? Can you please explain it to me? I''m sure there are other people that are getting annoyed with the arguement you''re having here." "I''m very sorry costumer! This girl suddenly came in looking for you. She said that she has to tell you something. "Where is she?" "What? She was just here a second ago!" Seriously, stirring up a commontion so early then disappearing afterwards, just who is this girl? "Um, I''m here. sorry for the problem I cause Shawn." It seems that she hid around the corner the moment I stepped out. I think I''ve heard that voice from before. I should call out to her and ask her what she wanted to talk about. "RIka? Is that you? If it is, why are you hiding there?" "Good morning Shawn, I was hiding because I thought you were angry at me for waking you up so suddenly." "That skill seems like it can be used for more that just that." This skill she was talking about should be very useful in following people if it allowed to track people other than friends. How about you, will you be joinin them?" "Ah no I didn''t join them, in fact they already left earlier so that they can reach the capital by tomorrow or at least that''s what I heard then I sensed you were still in town so I went to talk to you. Oh and they are should be also grinding more experience as they go there. The path to the capital is said to have a quite a lot of monsters so they might be level 20 by the time they arrive." "Oh I see, anyway I wont be going after them. I''m just level 2 right now. Oh and by the way, what''s your level? "Currently I''m level 12." She said that while avoiding eye contact.
