《World Creation: The Lazy God》 Prologue Pain. That was all Jackson knew at the moment. His arm was trapped underneath rubble that had fallen down from the earthquake. Though Jack knew that this was no normal earthquake. What kind of earthquake would rip a hole in space? He looked towards the distorted hole in the sky, with what looked like giant birds flying out and destroying everything. He looked at the rubble the covered his arm, only to come face-to-face with one of these birds. His eyes widened, and all went black.
Jack opened his eyes. What met him was a dark void and voices. LOTS of voices, crying out in pain or sadness, sometimes both. Jack brought his hands to his face. Even though there was no light he could clearly see. His left arm was the normal peach color he has known for his entire life. The other, well... It was mutilated. Bone stuck out of his skin, bits of rock, skin torn to show muscles, and dark red blood seeping, causing what was left of his arm to become red. He wasn''t sure if it was shock of something else, but he couldn''t feel any pain coming from it. In fact, everything that just happened felt like a bad dream. A very vivid one. He was on his way home when it happened. A tear opened up the sky, revealing a mirad of colors and creatures. That''s when all hell broke loose. Fires started, an earthquake shook everything, and he was trapped by a boulder. Before he realized it, the voices had disappeared. Jack took notice of this, and called out. "Hello? Is there anyone there? Anyone?" He called out, his voice distorted. "Anyone? Please, answer..." Jack floated there, in the void for what could have been seconds or years, until something broke the dark space he floated in.
Do you wish to change the world? Yes / No
A red rectangle pireced his vison, breaking up the darkness of the surrounding void. Jack brought up his mutilated hand and tapped yes. Why? He felt like he had an obligation to. An obligation to those who had died. Maybe somehow bring them back. His pinky tapped YES. Instantly, the void began to shift around him. Changing. He feet met a hard floor. The second his feet met the floor, color burst into existence. In a second, it look the form of his old room. A king size bed in one corner, bookshelfs holding all his games, his large closet, the two computers in the corner on his desk, all of it. Jack walked to one of his two windows and opened it up. Instead of a sprawling city-scape, it was a vast field full of green grass and lush flowers. Jack rubbed his eyes and winced as a bone pricked his eye. "Ow. Ok, how do I fix this? Wait, dumb question. How can something like thi-" He was cut of mid-sentence as his arm put itself back together. Rocks fell out, bones moved back into place and fractures healed, the blood on his arm rushed back into the wounds as the skin healed. There was no way to tell that his arm had ever been destroyed. "What the fuck?" Is all what Jackson could say. "I need water." He moved towards his door, but a glass of water then materialized in his hands. Jack blinked, the took a swig of the water. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. It wasn''t anything special. It just tasted like normal water. In a few seconds, he drank all the water and the glass disappeared. He opened his door, and saw that he had stepped out into the feild. "Where is the rest of my house?!" He yelled, not understanding what was going on. And much like the last two incidents, the rest of his house popped into existence with him inside of it. It was an exact copy. He stood in the living room, with a couch on the far wall, with a TV in the corner. To his right was the kitchen and the bathroom, to the left was his parents bedroom and younger sisters room sperated by a hall. In front was a door that led to the front porch. Even though everything had been completely copied, there was one thing that wasn''t there before. In the center of the living room was an orb that pulsated different colors. It hovered a few inches over the coffee table. "What is that?" Jack asked aloud. He knew his house pretty well, but that was never there before. He was sure of it. His question was then answered.
Answer: That is the World Heart. It is the center of your world, reverted back into an egg.
Jack flinched as the rectangle popped up again. But even though it answered his question, it brought up another one. "My world? What does that mean?"
Answer: As a God, it is your obligation to create a world for life to live on. If not, you will disappear and the mantle will be passed on to another soul.
Three things stuck out to Jack. One, he was a god. Back before everything went to hell, he was an athiest, and didn''t really believe in any higher power. But if what this was sayingwas true, then that meant there really was a God before this. Two, it said he had a time limit to create a world or he would ''disappear''. He didn''t like the way it said the word. Three, he was a god. That meant there were other Gods. Or Goddess. But, before Jack asked anymore questions, he would have to take care of that time limit. He took a seat on the couch and asked aloud. "Alright. So, how do I create this ''world?''"
Answer: Go up towards the World Heart and press your and against it. You will then be given a list of options to choose from to help you create your world.
Jack sighed. It said he had to get up, but he really didn''t want to. Then, he got an idea. Looking at the orb, he focused on moving it towards him. He then felt a tug, and when he opened his eyes, he saw golden hands come out of his back and bring the orb towards him. Smiling, Jack put his right hand on the glowing ball. He felt the same tug as before, and the orb began to shine. He watched it shrink until it floated just over the back of his hand. The rectangle appeared again.
Your first step is to form your Universe. I''ll leave it up to you.
Jack focused. It was something he had only done when he played games, but he was doing it now. He took inspiration from the many games he played. He imagined a tree. A tree with golden leaves and light brown bark. He imagined it large enough for a small army to walk along it''s branches. He imagined a staircase winding around the tree, leading to a different branch. A different world. He felt the tug, and he opened his eyes The Universe Heart floating above his hand then burst into light, but for some reason didn''t blind Jack. He watched in wonder as the light twisted and reshaped itself into a small golden tree. An exact copy of what he imagined. It had turned from the seed of a world into the seed of a universe. "Zedgrasil." Jack mumbled. It was a weird name, yet seemed to fit it perfectly. Universe Heart, or now Zedgrasil, suddenly started to grow. Jack ran outside and put it on the ground. It grew bigger and bigger, until it was the size of a normal tree. He picked it up with the golden arms and moved it towards the front yard. Its roots dug into the ground, and then Jack realized it was the only tree in the field.
Congratulations. You have created your universe. Would you like to create your first world to put on Zedgrasil?
Jack felt something. It wasn''t a tug, but his heart jumping. He never felt this before, but he knew what it was. Accomplishment. "Yeah. Let''s get started, shall we?" Of Titans and Dragons Jackson lay on the grass, heaving in and out air. He had tried for hours to ''shape'' a world, but he couldn''t figure out how to do it. The only answer he got from golden rectangle was to use ''Divine Energy''. "What the hell is Divine Energy!" He shouted, but again, the rectangle didn''t come up. The only thing that came to his mind on what could be Divine Energy was the golden stuff he had seen. Jack blinked, then slapped himself for not realizing the obvious. The golden stuff was the Divine Energy. So, Jack sat up, crossed his legs, and put his hands in his lap. Jack focused on the tug he had felt before, trying to replicate it when he felt the tug again. Opening his eyes, he saw the golden arms once again. Despite not having this many limbs before, he could move them with ease. He made them move like they were rolling clay into a ball, but instead of clay, it was the golden stuff. Soon, he had a ball of golden energy which he tossed from hand to hand. He then focused on hardening it into a ball. After a few minutes, he finally had a grey ball. Then, Jack had an idea. While he could repeat the process again to make water and stuff, Jack had a better idea. A more lazy one. This was the hardest he had ever worked in his life and his previous one, but his idea would make it easier. Jack moved the ball to the side and had it held by a hand. With the remaining nine, he split it into two projects. The first was creating a new type of energy. Call him paranoid, but if he could use Divine Energy, why not anybody else? So he decided to make a new energy based off of the many RPG games he played. It''s name? Mana. He copied the Divine Energy, but made it weaker so one couldn''t create a nuke out of thin air. More like different types of Mana could manipulate different elements to do magical things. The second project was to create a race that was entirely made of Mana. They would shape the world by creating water, continents, and others. He would call them Titans, and make their body''s be made from their specific element. He had to finish Mana first, and he did. He used the arms to push the blue energy into the planet. The planet then grew in size and blue cracks appeared all across it. With this done, he focused all of his attention on the Titans. He created six basic ones based off of the elements from video games. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, and Dark. The Titans held a humanoid shape, so nothing crazy. He was finished, but he needed to add one final touch. Using his own two hands, he let the Divine Energy flow through them, as he spread them apart. A golden sphere made up of golden symbols sprung up. Jack called this ''Divine Code'' and used it to help him create Mana. Basically, it let him add rules to the things he creates. Their lifespan, how they reproduce, how smart, how hard, stuff like that. Basically, while he called it Divine Code, it was the laws of the universe. While he wrote the Divine Code for Titans, the Divine Arms added the finishing touches on said Titans. When Jack finished, he pushed the DC onto the Titans, and watched as they weaved into every fiber of their being. Jack then pushed the Titans onto the planet, which he has yet to name. The Rectangle popped up in his vision.
? You have created your first race. ''Titan'' added to logbook.
That was cool. He would have to check it out later. With his projects finished, he put the planet on Zedgrasil, and the flow of time started to move on the planet. He watched for a few minutes as the Titans sprung into existence. Jack then turned around ans walked towards the house. But before opening the door, he looked at his hand, and using the new energy he created, a small ball of flame sprung to life. He walked inside, and into his room. He sat down at his computer, and it turned on without him doing anything. So, Jack switched to YouTube and started to watch videos while munching on potato chips he created. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. "All right. That''s enough." Jack pushed up from his chair as the snapped the never-ending bowl of chips out of existence. God, he loved this power. Or was it Jack, he loved this power? He really intrigued him. Anyway, he walked out of the house and towards Zedgrasil. He looked at the orb that was attached to Zedgrasil, and used DA to grab it and bring it close. He smiled. The orb was covered in water, and had four primary landmasses, along with some islands. Also, also, around three finger lengths away was a large moon with it''s own moon floating around it. Jack was happy that his plan worked. He then noticed one picular thing. He watched as one Titan, the last Titan walking north towards the center of one of the landmasses. He zoomed in and watched the Titan as watched the planet''s history.
The last Titan finally reached where he was created. After years of walking across the Earth and through the water that he and his brethren had created. He looked up, up towards the night sky, the greatest thing that the Space Titans had made. He looked towards the moon and the rising sun, the Earth and Fire Titans had been so proud of their creations. He looked towards himself. Earth made up his body, along with fire, water, air, and all other elements. He was the greatest creation that the Titans had made. One single Titan made from a piece of each of themselves. When all the other Titans began to sleep , he finished their works. He finished the oceans, the moon, the sun, the land, the stars, the passage of time. He had finished them all. Now, there was nothing left. He made is own changes, like bringing up earth in the shape of his back, making cracks in the ground for water to flow through, creating a form of water in the sky. All that was left was for him to join his brethren, and his job would be complete. He stepped into the pit, one foot at a time. He lay, face down, with the large spike that was his back sticking up from the ground. He settled in, and used the earth around him to fill in any gaps. He closed his eyes, which were just above the ground. Then, he heard a voice. It calmed him, it made him feel at peace. "Good Job." It was two words, but it filled him with accomplishment. His Creator had thanked him. And with these parting words, he slept.
Jack stared at the sleeping giant with a smile on his face. He forced away his sleep so he could finish the projects of others. He had congratulated him on that. He smiled. This wouldn''t be the last time Titanus awoke. Yes, he named the Titan and made him the new leader of the Titans, who would protect the world from great threats. But then Jack noticed a problem. On the planet, there was too much Mana. Mana was pure energy, and even with the Titans consuming a small amount of to keep them alive as they slept, it would still cause problems. Sure, Mana helped things live, but even too much of a good thing was bad. So that led to his next creation. Beings that would keep Mana at safe levels without him having to constantly do it. Jack rested the planet on a DA while the others made a new creation. He made something that was very famous in his old world. The scaly beasts of legends, Dragons. With his new creations, he kept to the basics of dragons. Lizards with horns, wings, long life span, could breath out different elements, and extremely hard to kill. But, he took some liberties. They consumed Mana and used it to strengthen themselves, but only Mana that matched the color of their scales. But, Jack didn''t want them to be unkillable beasts who could destroy the world, so he came up with a few things. When using their elemental breath, flying, and elemental attacks, they use a lot of Mana, and when they strengthen their body it would only be temporary. They also required Mana to grow. With that out of the way, he created six different ''sub-species'' of dragons, just like the Titans. He also made it so the Mana they consumed affect their personalities a bit. He also gave them freewill unlike what he did with the Titans. Snapping his fingers, the Dragons turned into eggs and mulitplied. He put them all over the planet, but made sure to put them where their element was the most common. Jack sighed. He finished the Mana problem, but it was exhausting. He never worked so hard before, so it made sense he was tired. He walked back inside his house and sat on the couch. He looked at the Rectangle saying it added Dragons to the logbook before asking a question. "Alright, are there other gods besides me?"
Answer: Yes
"Can I meet them?"
Yes, though it wouldn''t be recommend until you have your base world set up.
"Hah... All of this is so hard... I just want to be lazy..." He dismissed the windows before laying on his bed. "Geez... I wish I had someone to help me with all this..." And Jack fell asleep for the first time since he became a god. The Fight for Dragon Peak The Zedgrasil. The World Tree that held up worlds in it''s branches. Well, just one world for now, but there will be more. On that said first world, whose name hasn''t been decided yet, giant, scaly beasts walked the plains. Despite having nothing to eat, as the land they walked was barren, they thrived off of the natural energy that the world gave off, Mana. It was their lifeforce, their power. The first Dragons hatched from white shells, and layed eyes upon the barren land that surrounded them. Those Dragons took it upon themselves to protect their kin when they were weak, and proclaimed themselves the rulers of their kin. But power corrupts, and the strongest leader, the Earth Dragon Origon, turned against his kin when he found a mountain that held and abundance of different types of Mana. Now, despite being a Earth Dragon, Origon learned that he could absorb small amounts of other types of Mana to strengthen his body, and even merge his element with others. To stop him, the leaders sent a call to each of their respective kin to bring their strongest warrior. Each fought Origon at Dragon Peak (what they called the mountain) for three straight days, but each one failed. Except for one, a young Red Dragon. Which brings us to now.
The peak was ridden with damage and scorched earth. On one side of the battlefield, a grey Dragon stood tall, despite have been shot in the face with fire and clawed with flames, as his scales were harder than stone. He had a flat head and a large maw, and a brown energy flowed through his body, hardening his scales and bone, increasing the power of his muscles. Dirt and fire seemed to float up from his claws and eyes. He was the first Earth Dragon and Greatest Threat, Origon. Opposite of Origon, a Dragon with scales that were once a bright red, but now it was a dark red, like dried blood, and his body was littered with deep gashes, with one being over his eye. Red energy flowed from his wounds in the form of small flames, slowly healing him. This was the Red Dragon Tesgred, the strongest Red Dragon. ¡°What foolishness, and you call yourself the hero of Dragons? Your weak! And even if you beat me, you''ll take all the power for yourself!¡± ¡°Origon, two things . First, I never called myself that. Second, I would never betray my kin. Not like you.¡± As soon as those words left Tesgred¡¯s scaly lips, he lunged forward and stabbed his tail into the shoulder of Origon, yet only to we knocked back by a claw of earth and flame. Origon nocked an eyebrow as he saw Tesgred''s toothy grin that went from side to side. This confused Origon.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. ¡°Your happy because you poked me? You must be going insane from the pain. If you are, I''ll be kind and end this pitiful life for you.¡± Origon breathed in, and Mana entered his throat, causing a dim brown light to shine from within. When Tesgred saw this, a red light shone from within his throat, just like with Origon. All quiet for a moment, just a moment, then the two Dragons released the power from inside their throats in the form of a roar. A gout of flame shot out of Tesgred''s maw, and a wild brown flame counteracted it. This was their elemental breath, a Dragon''s greatest weapon. Tesgred''s flame was hotter than any fire, while Origon¡¯s would pelt the victim in sharp, tiny stones that could piece three feet of stone and we''re much stronger. At first, it seemed Origon was winning the breathe battle, but then noticed something was wrong. Tesgred smiled mentally, and poured more Mana into the flame, making it bigger, brighter, and hotter. Origon''s stones started to heat up and melt, and the fire began to obtain more ground. Origon pushed more Mana in, and that''s when he realized what was wrong. The location of the stab. While it wouldn''t make him bleed blood, it released the Mana he had stored up. So, the more he tried to put into the stone breath, the more Mana dissolved into the air. Origon looked at the Red Dragon. He didn''t hit a single Mana vain in all his attacks, but the only successful one Tesgred landed on him was making him lose the battle. The stone flame weakened, as Origon was losing Mana fast. The flame began to gain even more ground, until it was just inches away from his face. Then, it went into his mouth and through his body. Origon tried to let out a roar, but his insides were already ash. Origon then died a second later. Tesgred''s flame went out, as he stopped feeding it Mana. He roared aloud, and it carried for miles, letting every Dragon nearby that the mountain was now free. Tesgred collapsed, as he too died upon that mountain.
Jack went back outside after taking a nap, needing to check on his world. He walked outside, and using the Divine Arms, he grabbed the planet, and it''s two moons followed suit. After taking a look, he saw that his Dragons had hatched and most of them were living on the sleeping Titanus, due to the Mana Titanus pulled in. Though some still lived around the world in caves. With his Dragon project successful, he pulled up the Divine Code for the planet and made a few changes. First, he made it so grass and trees would grow, and wildlife would follow. They all had Mana inside of them, but not much. Second, he gave the planet a name. He couldn''t just call it ''planet¡¯ forever, now could he? He called it ''Arrea¡¯. He finalized the Divine Code and pushed it back into the planet. He watched as Arrea¡¯s Mana began to create non-sentient life. Putting the world back up on Zedgrasil, he walked inside.
? An important event has passed in your world! ''Battle for Dragon Peak'' added to logbook.
Jack whistled as he read the message, reminding himself to check the logbook out later. Jack sat down, turned on the TV, snapped his fingers, and the bowl of chips reappeared. The Land Below After a few hours, Jack rolled out of bed and headed towards Zedgrasil. He lifted the world off the branches and checked to see if anything had changed dramatically. His mouth frowned as he saw nothing of importance. Only a few Dragons had not fallen asleep, so he couldn''t go into the next stage of the world yet. He could do it right now, but Jack wanted to see the looks in their faces when they woke up to see a whole different world. Setting the world back upon its branches, Jack decided, with nothing else to do, to finally take some time to look around. His eyes wandered around the area around him, and beyond that. Surrounding him, was never-ending field of wheat colored grass that went up to his ankles. Despite what one may think, the grass was soft, not hard or painful. It was also the same color as his hair. Jack noted that Zedgrasil and his home we''re still the only things that he could see. In fact, he couldn''t hear any insects or the like. Only the soft, faint whistling of the wind. The sky was also stuck in an early dusk color with the sun just dipping below the horizon with the faint glimmer it stars just barely able to be seen. It was¡ a beautiful peaceful. Jack could probably get lost in the scenery around him for hours. He looked towards his house. He never noticed before, but when he saw it from the outside, it looked like a quaint little cabin, with a homey feeling around it. He looked back at Zedgrasil. It had a light brown bark, and it''s leaves were a pure gold in color. Arrea sat in the middle of its branches, being very close to the trunk itself.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. Jack just stared at the world around him for what felt like hours, losing himself in the breeze. During this time, he got an idea. He quickly grabbed Arrea off it''s branch and held it in front of him. He focused on the Divine Energy, how it flowed around him, and pushed. When he opened his eyes again, he wasn''t in that field. Instead, he looked upon an entire world from up high. Looking down, he found himself sitting on a mountain. But not just any mountain, for it was his greatest creation so far. It was his world. The greatest thing he had ever created. While the field was beautiful, this¡ this was beauty. Jack sat upon the back of Titanus, and gazed at the world. His eyes taking in everything he could see. In the distance, he saw what looked to be a dragon, but then moved on. Looking towards the sky, he laughed. ¡°I forgot! I need to make angels!¡± Jack said to himself while laughing. The bird that had flown overhead gave him a weird look before continuing onwards. Jack would get to that, though not right now, but he could still feel his mind start to come up with ideas. Snapping his fingers, the bowl of chips returned. Feathered Ones Within one of the vast plains of Arrea, a small blue speck began to glow. This was not an uncommon sight on the early Arrea, as this usually meant another rabbit or lizard was being created. But this one was different. As the Mana from the surroundings began to pool into the spark, a small, golden glow settled within. Suddenly, the spark began to glow brighter, the Mana around it beginning to weave into a new structure. A tall being, with two arms and two legs, with two joints moving out of it''s back to create wing-like prostitutions. Then, the Mana began to weave itself around the skeleton, forming muscles and organs. Another layer of Mana settled around it, forming a protective layer. Blue feathers began to grow out of the wings. Long blue threads erupted from the head, where it stopped at the waist. After some time, the glow subsided, revealing a feminine figure with platinum-blonde hair reaching towards the waist, with two bird wings reaching from the upper back. Blue light weaved around the body, forming clothes. The creatures eyes opened, revealing them to be the same color as the Mana that created her. Soft footsteps caused her ears to twitch. She turned around to face the source of the noise. A masculine creature, with light blue hair going down to the name of the neck, wide blue eyes, and a pair of wings just like she had. He wore the same clothes as her, just changed to fit him. They continued to stare at each other for who knows how long, before the female stretches her wings and begins to float, then motioning for the male to follow. They both then start flying across the land, searching for a place to call home.
? ''Angel'' race added to logbook.
Jack stared down at his newest creations, Angels. He had gotten to work on them after the last dragons finally went to sleep. He had created around ten or eleven on the same continent. Their bones were somewhat lighter than a humans, but still had somewhat of the same strength. He also added in a thing where it was impossible for inceat to create genetic defects. This was primarily because he didn''t want to create more and more Angels to fill in the role.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Jack also discovered that he could implant some of his knowledge into things, so he gave them ideas for technology, but that was it. They already had the basic instincts he gave them, and didn''t need to add more. Putting Arrea back in its spot, Jack walked over to the side of his house and sat down. He had gotten this idea a few hours ago when creating the Angels, and wanted to try it. Closing his eyes, Jack focused on creating a weapon. Guiding the golden energy, he shifted it into the form of a sword. When Jack opened his eyes, he was met with the sight of a greatsword. The blade was connected to the handle in a way that the guard was as wide as the bottom of the blade. The handle was thick and long (that''s what she said,). The sword itself was varying shades of gold, with a symbol from the Divine Code on the base of the blade where it met the guard. Grabbing the handle, he found it was very light, and could easily swing it around with one hand. Throwing it up into the air, Jack used the Divine Energy in his back to release four of his Divine Arms, one of which grabbed the greatsword. ''I really need to think of something other than ''the sword¡¯ of ''the greatsword¡¯.¡¯ He thought to himself. He didn''t know any sword names, so he just used his dog''s name. ¡°Huh, Zwei the Greatsword. Has a nice ring to it.¡± Pulling the rest of his Arms in and grabbing Zwei, he went back inside his house and put said sword right above the TV, where a rack appeared out of nowhere. After putting it up, Jack creates a sandwich and begins to munch of it as he watches a few episodes of some anime. Eating the last of his sandwich, he dispels the plate and heads off towards his room. Plopping onto his bed, Jack begins to think of what to do next. He wants to create a fully functional fantasy world, but that''s a long way away. That included a Demon King and some Summoned Heros. Well, less of summoned and more of created until Jack figures out how to completely remake the original Earth, if he hasn''t done it by then already. Maybe bring someone up here to spend some time with, or go down there when the world is stabled out some more. Closing his eyes, Jack falls asleep.
