《synthesis》
The world we live in
In the year 2099 virtual reality has advanced by leaps and bounds thanks to the help of the artificially known as Tobi¡¯s worldwide use in the last 30 years. Since its inception on the global server responsible for powering and connecting the world machinery, robots and entertainments systems, technology and science have made huge advancements.
At first, people were afraid of the world government prying into their private matters and it becoming a real life Skynet. However, with the government¡¯s assurance of Tobi only being a service like the internet and will be specifically programmed to be of assistance to humanity and the only people that should be worried are criminals. People soon quieted down and embraced Tobi.
Eventually, Tobi became responsible for most of the planet, making humans more and more unnecessary, jobs that used to be impossible for a machine are now solely completed by androids. In the wake of their new found purposelessness, the people began to stir and riot. Fearing this the world government asked Tobi to create virtual worlds for the world¡¯s people. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
Initially there were a few technical issues like pain being too realistic, graphics being and powering the pods until they decided to use the heat generated by the people as a tertiary power source, realizing that the pull of virtual reality was powerful and in order to keep population size from decreasing too dramatically, restrictions were put in place.
- You must be 20 years old to access a virtual pod.
- You must finish your education.
- At least once a week you must eject from the virtual pod for socialization and exercise.
Each new game is placed on a separate server run by multiple AI responsible for keeping the world, NPCs, quest running in a cohesive ever-changing manner just like a real world and in a way it was exactly that and the latest game to be birthed from Tobi was a classic fantasy game with vast and varied ways of play. Players can be anything from cultivator using a Ki to obliterate mountains to warrior slicing apart swarms of enemies with one masterful swing to more obscure things like a spirts and insects that evolve into unimaginable forms and that game is synthesis.
Entering the virtual world
¡°Tobi, start up the virtual pod.¡± A young man called out as he walked through the front door of his apartment.
A cheerful voice emanating from the speakers embedded in the walls replies, ¡°Yes, right away mister Jakub.¡± The moment the voice halted a the familiar hum of the virtual pod filled the silence as it began its start-up process, blue lightsshine from the large white egg laying in the corner of the living room started to glow signaling to Jakub that pod was ready for use.
Just as Jakub was about to open the lid and step inside the pod, the sleek watch-like accessory on his wrist began to vibrate. Looking down at his wrist Jakub notices it¡¯s a call from his best friend Max. Reluctantly Jakub answers the call, a holographic screen projects from the device showing the edge master himself Maxamillion von Jasperino or at least that¡¯s the name on display above his pink Mohawk.
¡°Yo Jakub, you look terrible what happened to you?¡± he says with fake sympathy, ¡°you and Maggie have another fight?¡±If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.
¡°Yeah¡ she ended things again.¡± He said in a self-deprecating tone.
¡°What else is new, that bitch does this every other week,¡± Max comments.
Clenching his fists hard enough for his knuckles to turn white Jakub replies, ¡°For real this time when I met her at caf¨¦, she was with her new man.¡±
¡°Shit man, I told you she was a bitch, don¡¯t worry man when we meet in synthesis I¡¯ll get you some of that sweet monster girl puss,¡± laughs Max
Mustering a small chuckle Jakub replies in the most stoic and passionate voice he can, ¡°How dare you assume that I a man of honor and integrity would stoop to your level, I sir am a purist of the puss.¡±
¡°What about when we were playing Andromeda and you and that Zeolion¡¡±
Quickly interrupting his friend Jakub says, ¡°Doesn¡¯t count that was Maggie¡¯s character.¡±
¡°The hell it doesn¡¯t, anyway when are you gonna start playing?¡±
¡°I was just about to get in when you rang.¡± He says acting miffed.
¡°Sorry man, what¡¯s the game plan this time? PKers? Rival Guild masters or what?¡±
¡°I¡¯m not sure I think this time I just want to get my mind of Maggie well figure something later on when we meet in game, anyway I really want to get in there so bye.¡±
¡°Fairs, see ya later man.¡±
Finally done talking with max, Jakub enters the pod.
character creation
In the virtual space, Jakub floats waiting for the navigation AI to show up.
¡°Sorry for the wait Jakub I was just finishing the upload of digital data into synthesis, I¡¯m guessing that¡¯s where you¡¯re wanting to go today?¡± said a humble old man that suddenly appear before Jakub.
¡°Yeah.¡±
¡°Right, through this door,¡± the man, beckoning Jakub to follow him through an ancient looking door with golden dragons engraved upon it.
¡°Thanks, Jeeves,¡± Jakub says as he enters the door.
Upon entering the door he is greeted by a small cottage, resting peacefully in the middle of a forest clearing, beams of light shining on it through the tall trees that surround it. Approaching the cottage door Jakub knocks 3 times and waits for a reply.
¡°Come in,¡± calls a woman¡¯s voice.
The inside of the cottage was very quaint and homely, a small wood fire illuminating the place, revealing a beautiful woman with long back hair and otherworldly blue eyes as though they have been plucked from the very sky itself, who smiles in Jacobs direction.
¡°Come have a seat and well get started shall we?¡±
After Jacob obliges the beauty by taking a seat, the beauty finally introduces herself, ¡°my name is Lassandra the goddess of death and rebirth, what do I call you traveler?¡±
Realizing this whole scene is part of his character creations, Jakub thinks or a second and says, ¡±call me Aku.¡±
¡°Aku, huh. Interesting name, let''s just get this over with shall we?
Jakub nods in approval the Lassanda¡¯s proposals. First things first ill tell you a little about the world you¡¯ll be going to. Synthesia is an artificial world, created after a great terror arose 1million years ago hell bent on destroying the multiverse, unfortunately, he almost succeeded, for 20 years he and his dark arm ran rampant across the multiverse leaving nothing but rubble in their wake.
If it wasn¡¯t for the combined forces of the gods and heroes from the Brocken universes who knows what would have happened if his nefarious plans would have succeeded, alas even though he was stopped many worlds were obliterated.
¡°It took the combined powers of many heroes, demigods, minor gods and true gods from different worlds to combine the remnants of these worlds together, many of them dying in the process. At first, there was celebration of the terror¡¯s death, then there was friction between the people of many worlds, wars raged between both gods and the natives of many different worlds as they tried to claim a stake in this new world. Eventually, a trying peace was formed between this factions and after time the people of the other worlds died of old age but their heritage was never forgotten.¡±The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
¡°Are you prepared to enter such a world?¡± she asks.
¡°yes, I am prepared!¡± Jakub said with resolve.¡±
¡°Good, choose your race,¡± as she finished speaking a plethora of different humanoids and creatures appeared before Jacob¡¯s eyes and as though she read his mind Lassandra said, ¡°Yes you can mix if you choose to.¡±
¡°How did you know?¡±
¡°I¡¯m a goddess sweetie, it¡¯s my job to know.¡±
Turning back to the options before him Jakub carefully skims the choices before, automatically excluding the non-humanoids, he¡¯d done that before in the game RE:RPG and although it¡¯s fun to work your way up from the very bottom Jakub believed that you became too op too fast completely forgetting what made these games so fun, the struggle.
Elves, no. Dwarfs, too small. Humans, too basic. This went on for a while until he found the race known as Scythian, they gave the same basic stats as humans and looked human too the only difference was the innate ability, blinding gaze, a 1 second stun activated by looking the enemies in the eye. Where humans get an overall learning boost, this race only get s a boost to combat related skills.
¡°I see you¡¯ve decided on the Scythian, now pick your starting skills, skills can be learnt through trial and error, through teachers of high enough skill and by reaching the level cap in two skills or merging them together.¡± The beauty said looking slightly board the whole process.
Looking at the list of abilities it didn¡¯t take long for Jakub to come to a decision, he had decided to choose a 1 physical the power attack and 1 magical skill flame. He had chosen these two skills because he needed some muscle in the early game and a little fire would come in handy when he started adventuring. The descriptions went like this.

¡°Good, now that you¡¯ve finished choosing your skills I would like you to decide your energy center.¡±
¡°What¡¯s that?¡± perplexed Jakub asked.
¡°Basically it¡¯s where you generate your power from in order to use skills.¡±
Jakub placed his hand over his heart and said, ¡°I choose my heart.¡±
¡°Good choice, not the most creative but good never the less. Now then Aku its time for you to leave and start your adventure.¡±
¡°Eh, how?¡±
¡°The door, sweetie.¡±
¡°Oh, alright, I¡¯ll be off then, bye.¡±
Lassandra simply waved Aku off as he left.
Accidents happen
Upon exiting the cottage door Aku¡¯s eyes are assaulted by the overbearing light of the desert sun and rough sand of the Jarobi dessert, the Scythian starting area. This whole dessert is the home of 3 nomadic races. The Scythians, the Darogi and the desert Elves. Due to pressures of the outside world, these races eventually formed an alliance, building a large city. Thankfully these races were able to cover for each other¡¯s weaknesses quite well.
The Scythians being the shrewd merchants they are set up large markets and journey the far to buy and sell exotic wares bringing money, culture and tourists to the city. The Darogi, a large offshoot of the orc race that breeds dessert worms for food and transportation are the city¡¯s protectors and partially responsible for the food of the citizens. And finally the desert Elves usually an introverted group eventually gave up their old way to survive in this strange world, they are the architects and bureaucrats of the desert, they keep thing peaceful and use their magic to protect the city in times of great danger.
¡®Not a bad place overall,¡¯ thought Aku as he took in the in exotic city he finds himself in, pretty standard market city, vendors selling all manner of trinkets, restaurants and shrines to the various gods of different worlds the strangest thing was the huge water fountain in the centre of the of the plaza.
Aku couldn¡¯t help but wonder where the waters is coming from in this barren desert, but he figured that the blue glowing stones ordaining the marble had something to do with that.
¡®first things first, status.¡¯ He thought to himself.

Casting his eyes to the east gate out of the city Aku spots a Scythian guard, in typical Scythian style, he is wearing fine robes and is adorned with golden accessories head to toe impeccably dressed. No matter what position in life they always find a way to be fashionable. Even the beggars use golden bowls, as they say. A common legend among the people is that the very first Scythian was the demi god son of the god of gold, king Midus has led to the race adorning themselves with gold as a good luck charm.
Approaching the guard Aku says, ¡°Excuse me, I was wondering if you can¡¡±
Interrupting Aku, the guard says, ¡°what¡¯s in it for me?¡± shooting Aku a strange look, as though a tiger eyeing its prey.
Quickly figuring out what¡¯s going on, Aku flips the man a silver. Catch the coin almost as soon as it left Aku¡¯s hand the guard gives a guttural laugh and says, ¡°HA HA HA, smart boy, the names Gibbsie and I know just what you¡¯re after,¡± taking a red envelope out of his pocket he hands it to Aku, take that the rundown bar at the edge of the slum before sundown.¡±
Staring at the envelope, confused Aku asks, ¡°What¡¯s this for?¡±
Tapping his nose the Gibbs says, ¡°Exactly, what is this for? HA HA HA, that¡¯s the spirit keep up the good work and id get going soon it¡¯s almost sundown.¡±

lucky man
As the silhouette of Aku made its way down the dusty streets, standing guard Gibbs notices a finely dressed, young red haired Scythian walking towards him, his golden bangles clinging together as he walks up to Gibbs suddenly flipping him a silver coin.
Catching the coin on reflex, Gibbs lets out a befuddled, ¡°eh?¡±
¡°I¡¯m here for the letter,¡± the youth says with impatience.
¡°Damn it, I gave it to a kid earlier thinking it was you,¡± Gibbs says, his face now a picture.
¡°What do you mean a kid?¡± the young man says flatly.
¡°A plain dressed kid, around 20 brown hair, no gold. He¡¯s on his way to the bar, if you run you might be able to catch him if you run.¡±
Turning around the youth squats slightly prepared to take off, summoning some of his strength he takes off leaving only cracks and an imprint of his foot in the dirt.
¡°This is why I told em we needed a better secret code, a Scythian would never carry silver they said, don¡¯t be daft they said,¡± Gibbs grummbles as the youth shot of into the distance.
Somewhere along the western side of the city, oblivious to the storm he¡¯s been caught in, Aku makes his way, the opulence of the plaza starting to fade giving way to the dirt and grime of the slums. the beauty of the shops and market making way for the cheaply constructed houses and shacks that make up the slums. The poor and dirty people watch Aku as he makes his way down the dark alleyways, making him nervous as he makes his way to the bar Gibbs told him about.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.

Getting up and dusting himself off Aku quickly checks the condition of the child, ¡°Are you alright?¡±
¡°En,¡± taking the now outstretched hand of Aku, the young elven boy nods in confirmation, before taking off again, shouting as he makes his way, ¡±Thanks, mista.¡±

Aku grumbled aloud, ¡°That little shit stole my envelope? Wait that gave me luck?¡± before realising that the people in the slums were still watching him. Putting the thought to the back of his mind he gave chase, following the child.
Left and right, under bridges, over motes of sewerage, down dark corridors, through the twisting, turning debris, made of poorly connected metal and wood, known as the slums, Aku chased, gaining a point in Agility, perception and coordination on the way. Making use of his long legs to gain distance on the longer straights. however, the kid clearly knew the area too well, losing Aku when he slipped through the some gaps in a fence, down one of the alleys.
Out of breath, wondering where the hell he was, Aku began looking around for a path in the general direction the boy had taken off, finding what he was looking for relatively quickly. Following the winding paths, losing himself even further in the slums eventually turning into a relatively open area Aku finds the elven boy cowering on the ground, a red haired Scythian standing over him.
Den of thieves
Seeing the boy in distress Aku runs forwards to save him from the hooligan, heroically shouting, ¡°Hey, leave the kid alone, period blood bastard!¡±
Placing himself between the red haired young man, prepared to take an heroic beating, much to the hooligan''s chagrin.
¡°Who the hell are you?¡± The young man questioned before changing his mind, ¡°whatever doesn¡¯t it matter, just don¡¯t get in my way again!¡° He threatened before turning around leaping off into the distance like a meteor leaving a storm of dust in his wake.

¡°Just Don¡¯t let it happen again, little man,¡± Aku says ruffling his hair, ¡°do you know how I get to the bar on the edge of the slums?¡± Aku says remembering that he''s only got a little time left to finish the quest.
¡°Yeah, I know a shortcut through old Makkirie¡¯s yard,¡± the boy affirms, leading Aku in the same direction the red haired man took off in.
¡°the names tobi by the way and that scary looking dude was Red, he works for the militia,¡± the boy said as they were walking.
¡°I''m Aku, you should probably be careful around people like that, who¡¯s this Makkirie fellow?¡± Aku questions.
¡°He¡¯s the leader of the western slums, right old codga too, see that building over there?¡± Tobi says pointing at a derelict house with a shutter on the door, ¡°That¡¯s the hideout, the baddies of the eastern slum all hang out there, you¡¯ll have to wait at the door whilst I get permission to let you in.¡±
Approaching the door Tobi knocks thrice in quick succession and awaits a response, after a few seconds of wait that hatch opens and a mean pair of eyes peers at the pair of them, ¡°AH Tobi what''s up?¡±

¡°You must be Aku, come in, come in,¡± the man says guiding Aku inside revealing a strangely luxurious interior, fine rugs, priceless pottery and piles of rare materials and jewels strewn around the place.
¡°I¡¯m Makkirie, you¡¯ve already met Tobi and Tongi, the beauty in the corner is Sonia, she¡¯s in charge of operations, Zak and Luthor are out right now but I¡¯m sure you¡¯ll meet them eventually,¡± he says as he walks Aku through the room to a small door in the back, leading Aku to a quaint little office.
Taking a seat behind the desk Makkirie takes out a bottle of whiskey, ¡°you drink?¡±
¡°Heck yeah I drink, all that running made me parched,¡± Aku said taking the whiskey from his hands taking a couple of healthy mouthfuls.
¡°At a boy, as thanks for saving Tobi, come round for tea tomorrow and meet the gang am sure you''ll find us an interesting bunch.¡±
¡°yeah sure, id like that. but right now I''m sort of in a rush,¡± Aku said trying to hurry along the conversation slightly.
¡°Ah yes the envelope,¡± Makkirie says taking the letter out from his tattered lapel, handing it to the now confused Aku.
¡°when did you?¡±
¡°Where do you think you are lad?" Makkirie says with a profound gleam in his eyes and a smile stretched across his lips before continuing, "Anyway, you should get going its getting late, just go through that door over there and go straight ahead, we''re about 10 minutes away from the broken boar.¡±

The red cloaks
Finally getting to the dilapidated bar, with not a moment to spare, Aku briskly walks through the worn wooden doors briefly illuminating the drab interior and local patronage loitering about the place, who momentarily glance in Aku¡¯s direction before returning to their own conversations and drinks. The whole place screamed wretched hive of scum and villainy; Aku would rather not have anything to do with the place but he thought he may as well finish the quest whilst he was here; it¡¯s never wise pissing off a Guard especially at level 1.
Checking the content of the quest, Aku realizes that he doesn¡¯t even know who to deliver the envelope to. Unsure of what to do, he walks up to the bar taking a seat at the end of the counter, two spaces over is a hunched old man wearing a blindfold who smells like bourbon and regret. Not knowing how important the envelope was Aku mad sure that he kept some distance between himself and this old man.
¡°Barkeep, your finest ale,¡± Aku said tying his hardest to act like a normal customer, failing miserably in the process, garnering a couple of odd looks from some of the people in the bar.
¡°Right¡ coming right up.¡± The bartender said with a un interested look on his face.
¡°Oh and one more thing, I have this letter.¡± Aku says sheepishly, flashing the top of the envelope to the barkeep making sure the other customers couldn¡¯t see the envelope.
¡°Not a clue,¡± the bartender says before turning away to get Aku his ale.
Unsure of what to do Aku just stares at the the tinkered of ale the bartender had brought him.
¡°Young man, I believe you have my letter,¡± says the blind old man on the other stool, his old and decrepit voice waking Aku from his stupor.
¡°Ah yeah right away,¡± Aku says handing over the letter, unsure of what a blind man would need a letter for, Aku watches the old man open the letter only find its written in brail, watching the man¡¯s face fluctuate between elation and worry as he traced his finger along the bumps as he reached the end of the letter the Oldman lets out a sigh filled with complexity.
¡°Now then um?¡±
¡°Aku.¡±
¡°Now then Aku, come with me, to many people in here to talk business.¡± The old man says as he picking up his staff and hobbles away from the bar, somehow dodging the tables of people making his way to the back of the room and stopping just before the steps waiting for Aku to catch up.
As the two walk up the steps, the Oldman says, ¡°When Red told me an outsider had the letter I feared one of our enemies had gotten a hold of it¡ Ah, what am I doing? I shouldn¡¯t be telling this to an outsider.¡±
¡°Red you mean that scary guy I say scaring little kids in the slums?¡± Aku spits
¡°He¡¯s a good kid, really. It¡¯s just his personality that lets him down sometimes,¡± the old man says as he leads Aku into one of the rooms upstairs.
¡°So then Aku, how would you like to join the red cloaks?¡±

¡°I¡¯d tell you but if you refuse I¡¯d probably kill you ku ku ku,¡± the old man chuckles.
Something about the way the old man said that made Aku realise that he wasn¡¯t joking and it would probably be wise to not ask too many questions, not being the first time Aku has been in this sort of situation Aku knowing that his only real choice is to join this mysterious organisation.
¡°Sure ill join, now can you sell me what you guys do?¡±

¡°morning, sonny, as I said last night id sort you trainer out and as its Gibbs fault you got involved with us I¡¯ve decided he should take responsibility,¡± Kendo says before abruptly leaving the pair.

Enjoying the forced praise of the embarrassed Gibbs Aku chuckles lightly and says, ¡°I wouldn¡¯t want to let your expectations down, when do we get started?¡±
¡°Eat your breakfast,¡± Gibbs grumbles, slightly annoyed at Akus sarcastic remark.
After the pair had finished their breakfasts they made their way to the training area of the guards, a small sandy courtyard, with weights, targets and mock weapons tidily packed away in various corners of the yard. As Aku stood there inspecting the contents of the yard, Gibbs had wondered off to the weights and begins sifting through them looking for something.
¡°Here catch,¡± Gibbs says tossing Aku a set of the lightest strap on weights he could find.
Caught slightly off guard by the objects suddenly flying towards him, Aku tries to catch the various projectiles much to his detriments. Managing to catch the smaller pieces, his unblemished record as a weight catching champion was abruptly ended by the dreaded breast piece. Like a meteor the worn out flying saucer flew straight at him, taking his feet from under him and his back into the floor with a fud.
¡°Hahaha, need a hand up there?
¡°No I¡¯m fine,¡± Aku groaned, picking himself up of the ground.
Just as Aku had started dusting himself, Gibbs calls, ¡°I wouldn¡¯t bother dusting yourself off kid you¡¯re in a desert about to train.¡±
¡°Force of habit, sorry.¡±
¡°Outlanders are weird,¡± Sighs Gibbs, ¡°put them on and assume horse stance,¡± his voice suddenly becoming less chipper.
Assuming horse stance Aku, stanced, stanced and stanced some more. His whole body trembling, truth be told, all in all his only been at this for around 20 minutes, but his level 1 stats, lack of real life trained and the fact that Gibbs hasn¡¯t said a word him made this training seem like it had been going on forever not to mention the fact that the sun had only just risen, the cold morning air only just starting to warm up.
As his muscles began to tremble viciously, not wanting to let his inferiority complex down, Aku adjusted his stance until he found a slightly more comfortable position.

can you imagine not having a centre of gravity? you''d just be falling over constantly, thankfully you''ve found yours and you be able to find it more easily in all situations.
Rank:F

At level 1 you have a slightly better sense balance.
Finding his new position a lot more comfortable he proceeded to squat there for a while longer after all that ¡¯s the only thing he could do earning himself another new stat, whilst he¡¯s at it.
New stat: Endurance
Endurance +1
¡®I should really look into what these stats actually do,¡¯ Aku thought to himself before Gibbs, finally spoke to him again, ¡°Alright, now give me 10 laps of the yard.¡±This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
Doing as he¡¯s told Aku proceeds to run around the hall gang a point in endurance, strength and coordination as he ran sufficed to say running 10 laps around anything can be difficult especially with weights strapped all over your body, especially after an hour of horse stance with those weights on.
The training went on like this for a while Gibbs ordering him to do these basic stances followed by cardio, all along Aku earning a couple of stat points, surprisingly halfway through the second set of exercises Aku managed to level up his centre of gravity passive, just like the description said it was slightly easier to find his centre, enabling him to carry on a little longer than he would normally be capable of, thankfully Gibbs had allowed him to rest in-between sets, but even that has its limits halfway through the 3rd set Aku collapsed to the ground with an almighty fud,
¡°You alright lad?¡±
¡°What do you think?¡± Aku asked sarcastically.
¡°You did well not many level 1¡¯s could do what you just did, but that¡¯s probably something to do with most of them being children, hahaha.¡±
¡°Thanks, that really makes me feel good about myself,¡± Aku huffs, still trying to catch is breath from the running.
¡°Tell ya what, you wait here and I¡¯ll get us some lunch, afterwards ill teach you a little hand to hand combat before I have to leave for my shift.¡±
With Gibbs leaving, Aku decides it¡¯s about time he looks at his stats.

¡°Here eat up were starting when you¡¯ve finished,¡± Gibbs says handing Aku a sandwich
Hey Gibbs, how¡¯s hand to hand going to help me with a spear?¡±
¡°How do your feet help you to walk?¡± Gibbs quips, ¡°put it this way being able to fight without a weapon will make it easier to fight without one and helps you understand how your body moves in general.¡±
The two continue to talk for a few minutes after they¡¯d finished eating, ¡±Are you ready?¡±
¡°Yeah let me take these off.¡±
¡°Leave them on, you¡¯ll improve faster wearing them.
Positioning themselves a few paces apart eyes glowing with a thirst for battle, one a cold blooded veteran forced into training a new puppy, the other a level 1 noob just trying to prove he''s more than a pretty face. Assuming a standard fighting stance, dominant hand close to his chest his left slightly extended ready to strike at any moment. Examining Gibbs, attempting to find an opening to attack also none could be found, even though he hadn¡¯t even taken a stance the pressure he emitted was immense.
¡°If you¡¯re not going to attack then don¡¯t blame me for being rude, ¡±Gibbs says as he suddenly appears by Aku¡¯s flank delivering a swift blow to his shoulder sending Aku flying in the opposite direction, ¡°rule 1 no stance is better than a stance in battle, there too restrictive, be like water my friend.¡±
Leaping back towards Gibbs with newfound vigour, taking a deep step in twisting his whole body from his foot to his waist, taking his shoulder and fist along with the rotational flow Aku throughs an almighty hook towards Gibbs'' face. Easily deflected by Gibbs, he threw a barrage of punches all missing the slippery Scythirian every time.
Getting annoyed at his inaptitude Aku proceeds to put is all into attacking the cheeky bastard, mixing in a couple of straights, uppercuts and kicks into the mix, Gibbs praising the Aku for utilising more techniques to attack him, however, that just spurred Aku on more, perceiving his kindness as mockery.
¡°you old goat, take this,¡± Aku shouts as he activates his skill power attack, feeling the entirety of his strength pulsating through his body, spreading from his heart, like a furnace, heat flooding his system, empowering a vicious right cross aimed straight at Gibbs¡¯ face. The G that he is Gibbs calmly sidesteps the blow, grabbing the wrist that just flew past his face a mock 1 speeds, he uses the momentum to flip Aku on his back.
¡°Rule 2, never lose your cool, rule 3, only use your finisher when you¡¯re sure it will actually finish the battle. His especially power blow at your level of mastery, you¡¯ll be incapacitated for a half an hour.¡±

¡°Yeah¡ sorry about that It just got on my nerves how easily you deflected all my blows.¡±
¡°That¡¯s to be expected, its ok to be weak, what isn¡¯t acceptable is staying week¡ saying that we''re gonna have to finish for today got guard duty soon, meet me here the same time tomorrow.¡±
¡°That¡¯s fine with me, I have plans later anyway.¡±
¡°Aww my little boy is finally growing up, you make me so proud.¡±
¡°Stop being an arse.¡±
¡°I''ll tell you what if you can land just one blow on me within the next week, ill stop poking fin at you?¡±
¡°Deal, prepare yourself for a world of hurt the likes of which has never been seen.¡±
¡°Weird flex but ok¡ by the way, don¡¯t take the weights off,¡± Gibbs says as he walks to his shift leaving the pile of Aku on the floor as he checks the results of his training, surprisingly he¡¯d managed to earn 2 points in everything but intellect, wisdom and luck and even a new skill.

Not a chapter
I thought id take a second to explain a couple of things i may not have explained properly, although ill probably explain in the story too... so you can ignore this if you want.
First of all F rank skills have a maximum level of 10 once that level is achieved you get 2 options you can evolve the skill or synthesize the skill with another skill of the same rank, however, these cost two skill points(SP) each. you get skill points by reaching the maximum level for the skill at F rank you get one Sp per skill maxed, E rank gives 2, D rank gives you 4 and so on. as the rank of the skills go up so does the Sp cost of evolving a skill or synthesizing in doubles. once a skill has been evolved or synthisised the base skill is lost but can be baught back for half the Sp spent to change it or it can be learnt again which is a more time consuming method. hypothetically you can just keep relearning the same skill over and over again.Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there.
Secondly, I''ve decided that in order to level up there are 3 methods. method 1 prestige and influence by which i mean Aku will have to become known by a certain number of people for specific acts. method 2 by synthesizing/evolving skills or raising his stats to a certain number although there are exceptionsto the that. method 3 requieres Aku to have an enlightenment.
Finally, even though Aku''s going through some totally awesome training he''s definitely not going to be op, based on three factors. First of all, every player will have a different loadout and skills which will differentiate their play styles. Secondly, as you''ve seen there''s no health in this story meaning all it takes is one hit to kill you and finally(i mean it this time) I don''t want him to be op.
If you can be bothered id like to know how you feel about my righting style so far? thanks for your time if you read all that i know i wouldnt. ">
