《Lost In A Universal Sandbox.》 LIAUS Prologue (1/2) ¡°Hey, how are you! urgh shit, I''m talking to myself again¡¡± A somewhat pale youth who wore no shirt was currently glancing in a mirror topless, was indeed talking to himself, he suddenly ruffled his own slightly dry hair signalling he had just finished a shower. By no means was he muscular or skinny he was average in every way, short black hair, brown eyes, some freckles and some hair on his body he seemed no older than 17 which was the case because he was precisely 17 as of this very day his birthday December 31, 2099. The youth let out a disappointed sigh as he looked at his phone the screen was cracked, and metal sides had some dents on it. This was a phone made in 2087 made by sungsam. He had managed to buy it second hand at a local op shop for a steal. The bathroom didn''t look anything to fancy it was barely 2 meters wide, and 3 meters long it had a little sink a mini bathtub that doubles as a shower. As for the toilet well considering he lived in an apartment complex that housed dozens of families and was one of the lowest concerning living standard With the sound of arguments and children crying. Well, this young man had to share a public one with the other male residents which was never a hygienically good idea. Well, look il cut the crap and break the 4th wall or something for a little. I''m the dude currently talking to myself I don''t have any cool or fancy name i''m called Impar...Impar Liaus. I was born under what those ancient folks would call an unlucky star. My Mum said I didn''t cry at all and looked as if I had been wronged after being born into this world..it was so bad my dad who is apparently some big shot in a company or some shit, divorced her after calling me Odd an omen of sorts and called her bad luck as well, so after he left my mum in the hospital and his newly born kid we never saw him again. My mum decided to call me Impar though maybe it was her way of showing a bit of love towards my lame dad. Raised as a single kid just me and my mum we managed to pull through although barely, I don''t know how to be sad or at least I think I didn''t at the time?... I don''t know? Nevermind.. anyway things were hard growing up barely food on the table or clothes. But at least I had my mum she helped me a lot whether it was me getting bullied or beaten up or homework or that one time I was rejected by the school bell and was so pissed off I didn''t want to go to school for a week...damnit why did I ask her in the first place?... I guess that''s what being young does to you... Despite all these obstacles in life when I was 16, I got thrown a curveball. My mum passed away due to Brain cancer, up until then I didn''t know what sadness was but I know its something that''s invisible and stabs at your heart and makes you cry making you wish to kill someone or yourself and yell in frustration cause a ruckus enough that you get kicked out of the hospital where your mum is laying deathly still in. Its a useless emotion il leave it at that. When my Mum died, I managed to scrounge out savings we both had from her two jobs and my part-time job. I bought her an ok spot in a graveyard not many prime locations in the year 2099, but I did my best. My Dad never showed up and just sent some goon to offer a cheque for 50k, but I tore it right in front of the guy and walked off I really regret that right now. I''m barely getting by, I have enough money to last me 3 months, and that''s if I stick to ramen noodle cups. My Deadbeat father never even showed up for her funeral anyway screw that guy I don''t need his money, the further he is from me the better. Though I guess I shouldn''t be complaining because one should always know that life has a plan for everyone no matter how insignificant you are, you should always push on. Life isn''t a novel, but at least you''re still breathing so there is always a chance for a comeback. - Having finished scratching his hair, Impar put on a school uniform with black, white and blue colouring, as well as a simple symbol of a gate, adorned on the right chest, he continued to prepare himself before he was fully dressed. Combing his hair a little he put on a pair of scratched glasses and left the cramped bathroom to enter into a small apartment room it was around the size of an average house''s bedroom an old tv that was on and reporting the news in one corner a desk with an old laptop in another as well as a small mattress the kitchen itself was nonexistent there were only a tiny sink and some plugs for electrical cookware. someone would expect a place this small would house a slob, but surprisingly it was all clean even the cement floor seemed spotless in the bits that the antique carpet didn''t cover Impar did his best to look after it. Impar gave a soft smile as he walked over towards a small table with a picture of a middle-aged woman in an aged photo frame. The woman was his mom from before she passed who although looked a little sickly was smiling as if she had all the joy in the world, besides her a happy young boy with innocence in his eyes. "Hey, mum another day for me il be back at the usual time." a rare smile appeared on his face as he glanced at the barely working clock on the left wall in surprise "s..shit 8:50 I''m gonna be late again!" Impar couldn''t blame anyone but himself, he couldn''t say that he had started his second job yesterday night at a small gas station and barely had time to rest let alone do homework, as much as Impar tried his grades weren''t anything special despite that, he still kept trying hoping for some luck. Grabbing the tv control in a rush he quickly turned it off not realising that currently being reported was a strange occurrence in the weather with expanding lights of Aurora around the world with a meteorologist invited to give his thoughts on the situation referring to it as a once in a million year freak phenomenon then went on to blame global warming. Grabbing a piece of toast in a cliche manner, he dashed out of the apartment but not before taking his nylon duffle bag he could have sworn he had been promised a canvas material duffle bag by the seller on Bbay. After locking the door he bolted down the corridor passing by the elevator with a red dented out of order sign on it and passed a 4-year-old boy on a tricycle, Impar even saw that the kid had snot all over his smiling face with a dumb look.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Eventually, he had made it down the building and into the open after giving the door a strong push the air of reality welcomed him outside filled with some smog. Towering skyscrapers in the distance yet a no mans land where he was. One would expect this sort of density only in a place like India or China in the early 2000s, but that wasn''t the case anymore. Eventually, the western countries caught on, and well profits were profits, thankfully wars were a thing of the past, humanity had managed to come together and colonize the moon and even set towards mars, nothing beats anything then the prospect of robbing the god of war for his resources. This was the city of Fae in Australia with a population of 9 million, located within the former Simpson dessert after it was tinkered with terraforming technology. Eventually being a beautiful place before the real estate agents got their grubby hands on it years ago, now its just another pimple on this dimming planet the world had gotten even more packed smaller countries like Australia that once had a small population of 24 million had jumped to nearly 800 million. America had reached a 1.3 billion. Europe a total of 6 billion, China 2 billion, India also 2 billion give or take. The middle east after so many wars had it better with 1 billion the others for a remainder of 3 billion, the world was packed really crowded. Global warming and overpopulation a real threat that was slowed due to advancement in technology meaning colonization was essential and had made good progress. humanity had realized they had screwed up, but habits are hard to break if a car is moving a 100 miles an hour if you suddenly press the breaks hard something is bound to happen it was best to slow it down first bit by bit. rushing down the sidewalk Impar was frustrated hoping he wouldn''t have to stay after school again which would make him late for his first job AGAIN!. "damnit damnit damnit...." he quietly muttered to himself to annoyed to focus on other things. To his side, people were gathered at a window looking at nice Tv''s that were currently showing the situation in Europe and Asia the aurora lights were colourful and dropping rainbow snowflakes. That seemed harmless, so no panic worldwide was caused. when the streetlight showed the green man, Impar dashed madly towards his school which thankfully wasn''t to far only a 4-minute walk or in this case 2-minute run. He eventually made it to the gates of the school. The school itself seemed quite tight in the sense that it was crammed between two large buildings there were plenty of kids may be a bit more than the school should be able to handle. Apparently, the positioning of the school was one of many in the city, a thing of convenience. Impar had managed to enter with a tired sigh walking casually with no real worry at least for now. College life was tough it didn''t matter where you were the same cliques existed everywhere. The popular kids the smart kids the tough kids the nerds the Goth group and then there were the losers that didn''t fit into any and stuck together as a magnet meant for impurities. "Yo Imp!!! " a voice called out from the side. Turning his head, Impar spotted his friend Ratan he had been Impar''s friend since middle school both of them having been teased for their names with nicknames that stuck they somehow turned it into a joke between themselves. "Hey, Rat! what''s up today." Ratan was the nerdy looking kid with a tie despite the uniform not having one. He liked to stick to trends hoping to get the girls to like him he went through the Fedora and Mlady phase that was ancient and made a comeback for a whole year before he realized that he not only didn''t get any girls but he was called the Fedora wearing Rat for 2 terms before people forgot, no doubt his life was like Impars or at least a bit better considering his parents were both alive and he was somewhat well off. "Quite a bit mate! Did you watch D3 Yesterday? Tempest announced that they were focusing on Mobile gaming for the new Angel game! Can you believe those bastards? I''ve been waiting for 3 years for Angel 4, and they went on to do this weird thing I swear to god this is bullcrap! " Impar laughed quietly "at least you have your video games I still have that old Zsus that can''t run anything but Nitrosoft word." Ratan shock his head in pity before reaching over and patting Impar''s back "cheer up buddy, once my dad gets me the new Humanware rig il give you my old one free of charge hehe! " "psh.." Impar ignored him and walked forward in a chill manner "all good you''re my friend i won''t leech off you, once college is over il have more time to work my focus is to move out of that crap hole at the very least." Ratan had a serious look "at least tell my dad! you know he deals in properties he can get you a great deal!" Impar nodded before heading towards the building with Ratan that was until a small commotion occurred the whispers of a crowd sounded from a distance both the boys looked over to see a slight scuffle a tall young man with blonde hair was currently gripping onto the collar of a small kid half his size nearly raising him off the ground. "Seriously you little radish you bumped into me!" the one holding him roared out onto the boys face he was built as an Ox one could easily guess which clique he was with. "uh oh...Lin is in trouble...il go get Mr-. " Ratan was cut off as impar walked forward ignoring him "hey!! impar where are you going hold up!" he panicked before turning back and forth then rushing away to look for help. Impar made his way through the crowd just as things were going to escalate. "Fend put him down...." Impar called out, his heart was beating quickly this was precisely how a movie plot went down except he knew where this would go but at least he had a plan or at least he thought he had an idea. "huh?...HAHAHA, dude put him down! Sure ok " Fend dropped Lin before rushing over to Impar like a bullet train without hesitation. Impar, of course, expected this he knew fend was known for his rushing in fights he at least had a chance for this but he also knew fend had a wealthy background he was in shit no matter how you put it but one thing ticked Impar off, and that was this guy''s smug look the last day of the term he was determined to make him eat shit or at least dirt. there wasn''t one person that didn''t have an expression of shock in the crowd right as Fend was charging at Impar, the former suddenly sidestepped while he stuck his foot out causing fend to trip and tumble down to the ground like a crazed gorilla. Impar wasted no time before rushing over as fend was trying to get up and gave him a few kicks to the gut causing him to grunt in pain and cough violently and curl into a ball, excitement lit up in Impars eyes. Inside he felt like he could vent. This occurrence was too sudden and too early in the day, so when he got on top fend after managing to get the guy down he started throwing punches to his face, right hook, left hook then right again until Fends face was bloody. As Impar was soon roughly pulled off by a teacher that got through the cheering crowd, impar blanked out and realized that it didn''t matter how strong you were, in the end, you could still tumble down given the circumstances. Fend managed to get up with blood in his mouth and face he roared at Impar with fury and was about to rush over to get revenge before he was also grabbed by a teacher that Ratan had called over. "This isn''t over you scrawny SHIT!..!" Fend with bloodshot teary eyes screamed out as he was dragged away by the teacher to the medical ward. Impar was left there being held by the neck with a stunned look as the students looked with surprise and some with pity knowing he was in deep trouble. Their voices faded for a moment as he glanced into the sky "Mum was this the right thing to do?..." LIAUS Prologue (2/2) The day for other students seemed to have progressed smoothly except for Impar and a couple of others involved. Impar was currently sitting outside the principal''s office beside Lin who had a nervous look on his face. "sorry for getting you involved...Fend had it out for me the whole term." Impar softly sighed before scratching the top of his head "All good he got what was coming to him it felt good too hah" Impar couldn''t help but laugh as it was really lovely to vent despite the consequences, he could have chosen to let it happen, but something inside didn''t want to make it go after watching Fend bully others for a few years. As the two continued to talk for a few more minutes the door to the principal''s office opened with Fend walking out, his face and nose bandaged, beside him a man in a suit with slick hair and glasses giving Impar a cold glare. Fend, of course, wanted nothing more than to pulverize Impar with his fists, but he was pushed along by the man until they vanished down the hall. a middle-aged lady followed afterwards with wrinkles on her face seemingly from stress "Impar come in" she spoke soundly before heading back inside her office. Following her inside and taking a seat with his hands on his lap impar was seated in front of her desk, the office nothing special regarding furnishings it was how one would expect it to me for a school principal. "You caused quite a bit of trouble for me today" she got straight to the point. "sorry ma''am" he wasn''t sure what else to say he knew his principal Ms Lelin didn''t like to beat around the bush she had other things to worry about. "Sorry isn''t going to get the pressure off my back. look I know that little brat did a lot of bad things I was building up a bit of a case to get him expelled but what you did threw it all out the window...his dad well I''m sure you heard the stories right?" Impar nodded he was also looking a bit nervous "that man was their family''s attendant he threatened legal action if things aren''t taken care of. I''m sorry impar the school can''t afford to bend at this stage." Impar sighed quietly "suspension at the end of the term I''m guessing?" he suddenly uttered. Ms. Lelin raised her hand as if to continue. "Suspension is obviously on the table for Fend ofcourse, but for you, unfortunately, expulsion is the answer..." Impar''s heart shuddered, and his mind blanked out for a moment, he clenched his hands into fists while his eyes twitched somewhat. "but..." he wasn''t able to continue before she gave a sigh "There is nothing I can do, following my meeting with those two I received a call from the superintendent of the school district personally to have you expelled can you imagine that? his family has their connections who would care for a nobody like you in their eyes." Impar frowned before standing up "Understood" he had nothing more to say if expulsion was the answer. Lelin remained quiet for a moment but seeing Impar stand up she was about to say something before he walked out no longer caring it seemed, she could only sigh as to her a student left while she was forced to keep a bad apple. In this broken world it was harder to survive she would have to see what she could do. Impar wasted no time in packing up his locker it was currently 10:30AM the school day had barely started yet he had been expelled he was reluctant and trying to plan how he would handle things "More time for work" he whispered to himself it seemed bit by bit his heart was becoming colder the anger he had thought he vented had suddenly risen yet again. He saw several students walking by, 3 of them dressed in neat white uniforms with the emblem of a falcon on it. Three girls one boy who was, of course, Fend who seemed to be chatting up one of the girls that seemed to enjoy the attention. The girls apparently were a bit more special the uniforms represented them being admittees into a unique university known as the Falcon Prospective it was more so an organization rather than a university for people with incredible talents located on the Moon these people were geniuses in their rights with a vast majority of these so-called students adding significantly to mankind''s progression. It had been around for over 79 years founded by the inventor of the Aether helmet the first virtual reality helmet that allowed significant freedom. It became the gateway for many things including a new age of MMORPGs one could only imagine the money that rolled in, more so with such a large population. This allowed the creator to create Falcon Prospective and raise talents while also controlling shares in what they build the Falcon Prospective was second only to the current Unified World government, and even then its tendrils extended deep into the latter. The female in the middle was the girl that not only many had confessed to and had their hearts broken but the one that Impar had also confessed to in middle school when he didn''t know better. Long blonde hair in a ponytail that went down to the middle of her back, perfect curves that pressed from beneath her uniform, jade-like legs and an ideal yet cold gaze that could pierce into the hearts of many. she treated Fends words with no real interest of course fend didn''t get upset at all he knew he couldn''t afford to offend this girl. "Elena, my father, secured a contract with Aethernet recently heh I was wondering if you wanted to go to Red Hall (1) and celebrate with me...your friends are also welcome to join us!" Fend seemed grubby as he tried to smooth talk her but she seemed disinterested, her friends also wanted to laugh but fend had some backing. "contract? Arent you just supplying some materials in the local area? It''s nothing to brag about there are a dozen different companies here that can do a better job... it''s only because your grandfather went to Falcon Prospective that they are giving your family some benefits." Her words cut Fend deep he couldn''t help but feel anger within, but he didn''t dare show it because not only was Elena the #1 beauty within this district but her family could step on his own like an ant. She had just come here out of choice because she wanted to experience the public school system Impar, felt that a girl like this obviously liked to be a swan in a cage of dirty hens despite the cold temperament she apparently wanted the attention he couldn''t believe he fell for such a girl before he had at least been tempered by hardship that had maturely opened his mind, he was still young but at least his point of view was broader than many his age. Fend who had been angry from Impar''s beating before and now Elena''s words was furious on the inside, he glanced around before noticing Impar in the distance at his locker he grinned before making his way over. Impar could hear the footsteps of fend heading towards him, the three girls also stopped and glanced over with interest. Impar sighed on the inside before closing the locker door after packing all his things in his bag, not surprisingly fend right behind it. "Hey, bastard... I heard you got expelled, serves you right for butting in and being a coward....loser imps like you should stick to the curb...i don''t want to see your shit face again understand?" He suddenly grabbed Impar by the collar of his uniform and pushed him against the locker while glaring at him. The two girls looked a bit shocked while Elena remained calm. Impar grunted somewhat it seemed Fend wanted to start more. Since Impar was more or less expelled, he might as well go out with another bang. "Fend take it easy..your nose is bleeding bad dude..." Fend was surprised and let go as he suddenly placed his hands on his nose "Huh where?.." he had fallen for it he wasn''t bright. "Right here.." Impar laughed as he replied before tensing his right arm and plowing his fist right into Fends nose knocking him flat on his ass, blood began to gush down his face as he screamed like a crying baby struggling and wriggling like a fish screaming for help. "AHHH MY NOSE YOU BROKE IT!!!" he uttered while Impar continued to laugh and was about to run out, Elena suddenly called out. "Hey you, aren''t you the one that asked me out in the last year of middle school?..." she looked at impar with some contempt. "Mhm I''m also the only one who did this as well!" he suddenly stuck his middle finger up towards her before rushing out like a thief who had just ransacked a bank. This clown dumbfounded the girls and made them feel disgusted by what just occurred. Elena was also stunned she had never had someone do this to her before she was always treated like a saint wherever she went, but this nobody had stuck his finger up at her. To her, this was a dirty pleb, but he still disrespected her like this, only her parents had barely disciplined her in her life. She felt anger for the first time in a long while. "y..you!.." she wanted to give chase but stopped as it wasn''t in her character she would have to figure things out later. "Elena...can you help me up please...." Fend at least took the chance to seek pity from her after seeing impar do that, his eyes were teary, Elena simply looked at him with annoyance "urgh disgusting let''s go..." she turned around and left leaving Fend with nothing but the sight of her nice rear end." -- Impar had received a few calls from the school a half hour later, but he merely blocked the number, there were no more ties between them, he did, of course, get a text message from Ratan, a smiley face a thumbs up and the text "If you need help to let me know dude way to go that donkey was leaking like a blood bag hahaha" Seeing his friend say that Impar smiled he had no particular feelings towards the school, so it wasn''t a real loss to him it''s not like graduating would have allowed him a better job he came to realize his grades were average no matter how hard he tried. Glancing up the clouds were dark and dense, and one could hear thunder as well "Rain today? Odd" he spoke before heading home first it was a bit quieter as all the kids were sent to their schools with the parents out to shop for low priced ingredients. Impar returned home and sat down on the small slightly torn couch, he turned on the tv and skipped over the channels, he felt a headache come up suddenly and sighed as he rubbed his temple it seemed although he tried to pass it as nothing the stress of the events within the span of two hours had finally hit. "Screw this world that only benefits those with talents and the rich....I''m not going to let myself be devoured by it." He switched to another channel one that showed a popular female idol performing a famous song of hers, he ignored it and changed to another. It was Falcon Prospective''s channel. A young man 25 years of age with short brown hair and blue eyes with a smile worth a million credits or at least to the girls who would fawn over him was seen with his hands behind his back while speaking. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. "Here at Falcon Prospective we are leading humanity to greater heights, the Ion thruster technology that enabled the shuttle launch to mars is one of many creations of Falcon Prospective " he seemed to like the name as he wouldn''t stop saying it, behind him complex traces and images detailing many inventions were flashing by every few seconds. "If you think your heart and mind are locked onto humanity''s future and making this future better for everyone then apply now at your local branch for a test." After it cut out a voice began to quickly read the more delicate details that were too harsh to say in a proper commercial. Impar scoffed he wouldn''t take the test even if he were intelligent enough because their goal of helping everyone was a pile of shit. He lived in the slums more or less and what he saw was the poor get poorer, and the rich get richer in the end family connections, reputation and money made the world spin, and when humanity branched out into the stars, it would make the galaxy spin to. He put the control for the tv on the side of the old wooden table he had picked up that someone had thrown out. Checking his phone as he laid on the couch he set the alarm to wake him up 20 minutes before work. He felt quite tired at least he could sleep in until work. Giving a quick call to his boss, he managed to get more hours starting at 1:00 pm, so he readjusted the alarm. After his boss asked why Impar wanted more hours he just said the end of term and didn''t mention his expulsion. When business was handled he changed the channel to the weather before laying on his back, Impar soon fell asleep minutes later hoping to ease his headache, he silently drifted into his dreamland, the weather was reporting about normal regional situations such as rain downpour in western Australia increasing a few millimetres and such but after a half hour the forecast suddenly cut off and it went to a news anchor who began to speak. "ladies and gentlemen, it seems something strange has been going on recently for Earth. Strange Aurora esque lights that had been secluded in the Northern Hemisphere have suddenly begun to spread at a rapid rate towards all sides of the globe. Scientists are unsure of the occurrence, but all flights have been grounded due to electrical interference. It will engulf the entire southern hemisphere in 3 hours, the global consensus is that this is a once in a lifetime phenomenon and won''t happen again it appears to be completely harmless some say it is related to last weeks solar flare others attributing it to religious topics, folks, you better enjoy it and take some pictures because this won''t happen again" The news anchor downplayed it as it didn''t seem to cause harm and didn''t want to incite panic, orders passed down by the top in truth even they thought it was nothing much. Eventually, the tv shut itself off after an hour due to inactivity; something Impar added to it to save on bills. Impar seemed to be quite calm while sleeping yet his dream seemed odd. The vast universe shifting and changing condensed within what seemed to be a bubble like cage it appeared like a jewel that sparkled with bright light, suddenly a hand formed with what appeared to be of stars and space suddenly appeared out of nothingness within the empty void outside this bubble. A ripple of white light pulsed out from the index finger of his heavenly hand that engulfed the universe like a bubble for a single moment. The hand vanished into nothingness fading into the darkness as if nothing had ever existed in the void when suddenly a voice which shook this void but not the bubble like universe called out. "Rapture has come. The Dimensional gate has been opened. Soon those chosen few will have first access to my Heavenly field. Pearls of Nirvana are your key, parting with your destiny, parting with your current existence, yet do not part with Nirvana." This voice which seemed as clear as day echoed in his dream Impar suddenly woke up with fright, his alarm going off, his heart beating quickly. Impar didn''t realize that his nose was bleeding until the drops fell on his hand. "That was freaking intense...." he could remember every detail of that dream and had never felt so frightened before in his life he might have even pissed his pants had it not been that he already went before sleeping. Thankfully to him, it was just a dream, hearing his alarm he wiped his nose a little before it made a mess with blood. Twenty minutes later after tiding himself up, wearing the shops uniform and cleaning the blood, he looked into the mirror again. "Every time I gaze here why do I feel like I die a little bit more?" he smiled bitterly to himself before grabbing a quick meal to eat it was simply cup noodles beef flavour it wasn''t as if he had much else left, he didn''t know how to cook despite wanting to learn the neighbors next door didn''t bother with him like how in most cases they would help those less fortunate. But he was okay with that after all everyone in this slum was struggling to live a day longer he didn''t want to intrude, so he didn''t blame them for their thoughts, every bite more was an extra kick of energy for their tiresome day. Making his way outside his apartment, he heard people talk about some strange phenomenon he thought nothing of it as it might be some viral thing or some weird science news, heading outside the smog covered the sky and with the thunder clouds it made it seem like the night was nearly here to a reasonable degree. It made him want to puke with how disgusting it looked. This place was where most factories were placed in the past years with workers wanting their families closer the apartments were a good thing for those who worked these low paying jobs that barely put meat on the table if any at all. He rubbed his hands together and breathed a cold mist. "why did it get so cold all of a sudden?.." He considered it as some freak thing before making his way towards his job it was a half hour away in the meantime he thought about his dream, the heavenly hand these pearls of nirvana and this dimensional gate that the voice talked about he wouldn''t mind welcoming some end of the world at least it would end his misery. Five minutes away he received a call from his second boss at the gas station. "Hey Impar don''t worry about coming in later tonight haha I sold the place to some bigshot he was interested in the area I got quite a good deal! I put your pay for yesterday in your account, good luck!" Before Impar could reply the phoneline closed and he was left stunned. "Just like that? " He thought nothing much of it after all developments were no big deal these days it just meant he needed a second job. After arriving at the small convenience store run by an elderly man whom he worked for and that he had befriended awhile back, he noticed the man signing something with two other men in suits and dark glasses on the side the man seemed a bit annoyed as if he were forced into this. When the men left Impar came over and spoke. "Mr. Arizu is everything ok?" The man sighed before turning to Impar "my boy sorry it seems there won''t be work today or again....these big shots suddenly came in today and paid the contract break fee I had with the landlord the place isn''t mine anymore... I have to get started and pack everything...weird they paid 30% extra..." the old man suddenly pulled out his phone which was significantly better then Impars and hit a few keys. "I paid your wage and some for your troubles today...sorry kiddo" the man sighed in reluctance before heading back inside and changing the open sign to closed. Impar was stunned both his jobs were suddenly lost within 10 minutes. He felt something odd happening, so he went to some nearby stores and asked them about men breaking the contractor wanting to buy the shop. He was told nothing happened, but one store owner beside him said he saw their car earlier it was part of Lesley Metalworks. Impar looked angry it made sense now, Lesley metal works was the company that Fends father owned the metal works was no way near this place it was at least 2 hours away they had no business here in a slum place wanting to build here was more trouble then it was worth, no doubt this was revenge on Fend''s side. "Damnit to hell!" Impar roared silently before he punched a brick wall nearby causing his right hand to bloody somewhat. He clenched his teeth in anger it seemed that fend was being ruthless by making him lose his jobs no doubt he had other plans in store compared to fend Impar was a fish in a barrel. Impar was given a total of 50 credits from his second job and just now received 150 from his first with his savings remaining of 400 credits prior he had a total of 600 credits he needed to use what he could and start job hunting again carefully. he didn''t want to ask Rattan for a job with his dad or mom as not only would it intrude but he had no doubt Fend would step in to cause them trouble as well he didn''t want his friend to suffer because of the target on his back. Impar headed back home the streets were a bit emptier he could hear thunder in the distance roaring as if it felt his anger and sorrow his misery in this life. Impar had a feeling Fend might try to get him evicted, so he most likely needed to plan a relocation. As he was taking his usual shortcut through an alley, he noticed a figure in front of him. It was Fend. "Huh?..." Impar was surprised. He saw the smirk on Fend''s face as if one of victory, he had more bandages on his nose and looked psychotic. "Finally here little shit...." Impar had a bad feeling he began to think in his mind "-The only person who knows I take a shortcut through here is-.." while turning around his thoughts stopped dead, the two people who he had seen buying the store from his boss were there, including a third individual it was Rattan. He had a troubled look on his face as if he did something terrible. "Impar....he said if I told him where you go and live....that he will give my parents contracts for real estate near the metal works...nothing personal right?." Impar smiled and sighed regrettably. "All good....you did what you need to do" Impar replied, his friend betrayed him all for a bit of profit for his family. In the end, if someone wouldn''t take a bullet for you, they weren''t trustworthy. "You did good Rat now piss off I got business here..." Rattan nodded before heading off after he was handed a contract by one of the men in suits that just needed his father to sign for it to be valid. Rattan then scampered off with it tucked away he gave Impar a slight pitiful glance before heading off, Impar was left bitter yet stood strong he wouldn''t let this world devour him. Fend took several steps forward, Impar took a fighting stance he had seen once on tv in a self-defence course, but a moment later he was shoved forward by one of the men behind who snuck up on him, Fend took the chance to start kicking Impar again and again. A couple of minutes later Fend proudly spoke out "hahaha! This is great look karma came and hit you back Imp shit!!! You want to act like the hero!! poor people like you need to know your place!" Impar was bruised and his face bloody he didn''t cry or call out in pain he took every beating as it came while focusing on other things, he had lost consciousness once but was awoken by the pain, no doubt he had a few fractures around his body and was having trouble breathing due to blood in his nose, he even coughed out some blood a sign that his innards were injured to. Fend wanted to continue, but one of the men stopped him "Young master if this pleb dies it will cause some complications for your father..." Fend yanked his arm away then gave one more kick to impar''s back before tidying his jacket. "Fine I''m done with this dumbass anyway....don''t let me see you again or you''re going to end up missing" he threatened before walking away. Impar laid motionless for nearly a half hour before his ragged breathing could be heard, he weakly crawled over to a nearby wall and pushed himself up his body felt like it was going to crumble apart. He hadn''t eaten well in his life and wasn''t as fit as Fend, so he was much weaker. Leaving a trail of blood from the small drops and puddles before he focused his sight forward and remained silent his stare in a daze. "-Maybe I should just end it all...-" he uttered contemplating suicide it seemed his life was getting worse and worse, his dad leaving him as an infant, his mother suffering than dying, having to live alone and suffer every day. A couple of tears were forced out of his eyes not ones of sadness but anger at the unfairness of his life as he was about to cry out in frustration, reaching over for a jagged piece of scrap metal beside him the sound of thunder suddenly cleared The clouds parted rapidly, and the entirety of the country and the world was engulfed in lights of aurora that seemed to cause a beautiful glow. glancing up at the sky with pain Impar''s eyes widened at sight he saw before him, he had never seen anything like it before it warmed his heart and calmed his mine although it was silent he swore he heard an angelic symphony The entire world seemed to freeze as the lights of aurora grew more intense, people stopping what they were doing glancing up into the sky, traffic also freezing as people got out of their vehicles no one uttered a world it was deathly silent. It was then that suddenly spheres of light the size of marbles began to rain down all over the world followed by a rain of light washing away the grey. Impar was confused at this sight as he wasn''t sure what to think his mind was empty. That was until a single rainbow-colored sphere dropped right in front of him emitting a beautiful swirl as if a galaxy was contained within. His mind shook he wasn''t an idiot because there was a sentence that came into his mind from his dream after glancing at it. "Pearls of Nirvana are your key, parting with your future, parting with your existence, do not part with Nirvana" he spoke the sentence word for word before weakly rushing over and clutching onto the pearl as if his life depended on it. The moment he grabbed it, a beautiful rainbow light lit up the alley, Impar had vanished and reappeared in a pure vortex of light, his mind going silent and he blacked out before a voice spoke out to him in a mechanical tone. : Starter Kit Acquired: : Temporary Safety Field Acquired Duration 24 hours: : Activating Starting Location Map: : Zone name:: Plains of Hope: : Welcome To God''s Heavenly Field, Impar Liaus: LIAUS Chapter 1 Getting Started. The darkness suddenly turned into a bright light that engulfed his consciousness before fading into a hazy white. Slowly Impars eyes opened, the pain he had received from the beating had all but gone away. He pushed himself up feeling a cool breeze blowing through his hair and skin a beautiful blue sky with clouds as if it were a perfect spring day. Lush grass that seemed to be at a perfect height with flowers of all sorts of colors one could even make out cows, sheep, chickens, pig''s dotting here and there as they ate away at this ripe green grass. Trees of all sorts of breeds littering around in all directions this was indeed an untouched paradise, Impar felt as if he could taste some sweetness he wouldn''t know until later that it was because there was not one bit of pollution contaminating the air he breathed. Someone would think they had died and gone to heaven yet Impars mind, of course, was full of questions and confusion he pinched himself several times and even slapped his cheeks. "what....the....fuck...." he hadn''t any more words to say for a minute or two as he just sat quietly to ponder carefully. "-Could God exist? Was my dream something coming into reality? that weird aurora light and that rain....that pearl of nirvana thing I held.-" Impar was looking carefully before a blue-tinted somewhat transparent screen with white glowing words appeared in front of him. :24 Hours 57 Minutes 32 Seconds Remaining Until Protection Ends: : Starter Kit Acquired Please Open It: "Starter kit? how do I open it?" The moment he finished speaking a Shabby wooden box no more massive, then a shoe box appeared after a puff of smoke it was shaking somewhat. Impar was convinced by the suddenness of everything he was still cautious, but as he was piecing things together, he knew his life couldn''t be any shitter than it currently was. Reaching his right hand over, he lightly tapped the box before it began to shake before it suddenly opened out to which it showed what he could receive. : Old Wooden Box Loot Rates: Worn Items: 90% Common Items: 5% Uncommon Items:4% Superior Items: 1% : Tap Again to Recieve your items: Impar could see there were quite a few more levels of rarity, but the words were constantly changing, looking at them seemed to hurt his head as if he wasn''t powerful enough to even comprehend them which made him feel disappointed as curiosity was part of human nature. "Whatever free stuff is still good" He uttered before he tapped it again, the box suddenly closed before spinning quickly and stopping to face him before opening again, items began to pour out and hover in front of him. : Foragers Basket - Worn Acquired : : Basic Foraging Handbook - Common Acquired: : Moldy Bread - Worn Acquired: : Spring Water - Common Acquired: : Deity Obelisk Compass - Superior Acquired: Impar was stunned he clenched his teeth in fascination and laughed to himself which seemed to be a habit when he didn''t know what else to do. He had read novels where the main character in some MMORPG would always strike it rich somehow, but this was different it wasn''t an MMORPG but real life or at least he thought. As the items suddenly floated into his body and vanished a small inventory icon appeared in his vision as if he was wearing some individual contacts for augmented reality. He had an idea as to what it was. He glanced up at the sky and took a deep breath before he stretched and went over to a nearby tree before sitting against it. Facing the icon which resembled a bag, it seemed it sensed his intention and opened to reveal a perfect 3d image of his body as well as his clothes he currently wore all of which were the rarity of worn, contrary to many things it seemed durability did exist in this place. The durability for all his stuff was at 20/100 except for his newly acquired items of course. Glancing to the side to see his inventory he noticed he couldn''t access anything from the real world here except the items he earnt here which seemed reasonable after all if someone brought a gun well the rest is obvious. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. He decided to try something and willed the basic foraging handbook into being. It did, in fact, work as it appeared in his hands. He glanced at it for a moment before opening it. The words inside seemed alive somewhat before scuttled letters inside the book no matter which page he turned to formed a sentence. : Tap to learn Contents: He did as it asked and taped it once. Suddenly a bright white light shot from the book and into his forehead, he felt his mind gain knowledge that transitioned smoothly as if someone massaged his head and as if he had earned a couple of years experience. The book seemingly disintegrated into nothingness as if it could only be used once which disappointed him, but atleast he attained descriptions and knowledge regarding a fair ammount of the basic flora for this place. Plains Berry, Grass Fruit, Milky Ginseng, Snow Apple, Sun Alexandria, Turtle Mint. He spoke the names of several different sounding fruits and herbs consecutively that didn''t seem to exist in the real world along which each had several essential characteristics as to what they could do. For instance, the Milky Ginseng''s description was as follows : Milky Ginseng - Uncommon: Locations: Plains, Forests. Description: Milky Ginseng takes a week to grow and can be used in Potions as well an ingredient for Food. It can also be used in (......) as a Catalyst Agent or Ingredient. It grows at a depth of one foot and can be spotted by those with at least a little knowledge in foraging. If eaten Raw one will experience a burning sensation in their stomach which will allow them to establish their (.....) Impar also noticed the image of the Milky ginseng as if to help him identify it if he came across it, it looked like regular ginseng but seemed to be a rich, creamy color once cleaned, but it was the most basics of explanations. "Hmm" he looked thoughtful before suddenly looking up at the tree he was sitting under, he noticed green sparkles coming from red fingernail-sized fruits dangling off it. As he glanced at them not soon after did a picture of what he stared at appear. It showed the small reddish fruit and its description in his mind. : Cherry-berry - Common: Locations: Plains, Forests. Description: A Cherry Berry will Grow daily after being picked for as long as the tree remains. Can be used as an ingredient for food an ingredient in potions. It can also be used in many other things. Restores 10% of the hunger bar per Cherry Berry. Impar seemed quite amazed, he soon looked at his stats, hovering over the hunger bar it had a small description apparently when it hit 0% he would lose health until death and as long as it reached 100% it would somehow provide the host with all the nutrients the body needed meaning he would never lack calcium, iron or vitamins or anything necessary to keep the body healthy. As long as that hunger bar was full it also said that if it were below 90%, he wouldn''t regenerate health naturally it also told him stamina was related to hunger each second he ran decreased the hunger bar by 0.3%, and if it fell below 80%, he wouldn''t be able to run. It also told him that the more actions that required a lot of movement he did the more it would go down, which meant there was at least a fundamental way of living within this so-called realm or world, whatever it was he was at. He then glanced at his main stats. : Impar Liaus: Health: 10/10 Hunger: 99% Title: First Batch (Grants: luck +3) Strength: One Star Luck: 6 Agility: One Star Intelligence: Not Bright Wisdom: Not A Sage Either. Trait: Pitiful Existence. Impar looked at his stats page and was impressed until he got to the lower half the last three caterogries shocked him especially the last that he willed to appear in front of him. : Pitiful Existance: Description: You are Unlucky, Very Unlucky..... That is on your world, while here Destiny has taken pity on you and granted you +3 Luck. "beggars can''t be choosers" he smiled bitterly more luck wasn''t a bad thing if he was right it must obviously be an important stat at the very least he would need quite a bit of it for some good things to happen he had a feeling the Diety Obelisk Compass he received wasn''t as easy to get as it seemed, he was confident his luck played a role in getting him it. Suddenly willing the compass in his hand, he looked at it. It didn''t look like anything fancy it was merely a rounded stone with a hollow center inside. It pointed in a single direction with a red needle, and when he moved, the red needle stuck in that direction the compass wasn''t a compass in the sense of normality as it didn''t even tell him which way was north. He decided to explore a bit but not before climbing the tree a little and picking some cherry berry''s, contrary to his thoughts he didn''t receive any notification for experience or some title earnt after picking them which was disappointing, but it didn''t seem like he would be given handouts so easy. Climbing back down he threw one of those cherry berries into his mouth and chewed. He felt amazed because the flavor was incredible, it was the best fruit he had ever eaten in his life. He quickly devoured five more as the burst of sweet and sour taste flowed into his mouth the fruit didn''t even have a pit in the middle the flavor lingered as well. It was then that a notification popped up. "Status Well Fed gained: Hunger will not decrease for 5 Minutes. Strength Has increased to Two Stars for 5 Minutes. Agility Has increased to Two Stars 5 Minutes. Following this Impar noticed several icons transparently appear at the top while a timer was counting down beside them. " I can run for 5 minutes straight without losing my breath?" He was stunned and excited to give this theory a go. LIAUS Chapter 2 Progressing. By now Impar had spent 3 Minutes simply dashing as fast as he could around the plains area. He felt no decrease in his speed and could breathe regularly without issue it was as if he were an athlete who had taken some drug. The feeling of being able to keep this speed was incredible of course he didn''t linger on this for too long because he knew this world had so much more to offer and he wanted to discover everything he could. He assumed that he wouldn''t be the only one here based on the title: First Batch: "I shouldn''t waste anymore time" He pulled out the compass he received from the chest earlier as well as the foraging basket which seemed to have no particular information other than infinite durability he looked at the fauna such as the cows and chickens and an idea appeared in his mind yet he didn''t have the heart to walk up to one and hurt them at least not until he confirmed something. He began to follow the direction of the compass while taking in the sights from large hills to lush lakes with large fish looming in them. He even noticed a pack of wolves sleeping in the distance near a cave; he didn''t dare go near them of course even with the protection. Along the way, he managed to pick up several herbs that seemed littered along the way from their description alone he knew they would be quite useful. : Green Herb - Worn: Locations: Plains, Forests. Description: The Most basic of Herbs Can be used in Potions as well as Cooking. Eating it raw restores one health per 10 seconds for 1 minute, Effect stacks for 60 minutes Increases Hunger bar by 1%. "Well, these are quite useful these weren''t meant to be eaten for food but rather to heal. When I pinched myself, I did feel pain didn''t lose health, but that pain didn''t hurt at least not as much as it would in real life. Interesting" This world followed a different set of laws he now knew. Eventually, as he travelled without seeing another person, he noticed many more odd sights from magical wisps flying about in the dozens as well as bizarre pixie-like humanoid creatures. He even reached a cliffside where he spotted a small village of what seemed to be goblins if video games were anything to go by, goblins equalled trouble, if he got close, he didn''t want to risk issues. He didn''t think this place was all milk and honey there had to be danger, and if he died here, he wouldn''t know how things would turn out. After exploring for 10 minutes, he found what he was after. The obelisk was covered in moss and spanned 5 meters in height with a meter in width. It seemed ancient as it was covered with overgrowth and had almost totemic and jet black with etchings which looked rune-like. He carefully approached while looking at his surroundings. Thankfully it seemed like everything was still peaceful no doubt the plains of hope was one of the safest areas he could be the protection didn''t make him feel at ease, not one bit. Stepping closer to the obelisk he placed his hand upon it only to see a notification which made him jump slightly he hadn''t gotten used to it just yet. : Deity Obelisk Found would you like to set as Dimension Entry point?:   The answer was somewhat obvious he quickly taped yes and right as he did he felt a pull that made his mind quiver slightly. He noticed a glowing blue aura seep out of him and into the obelisk, causing the runes that were etched onto it to light up the same colour as the aura that left his body, no doubt it was part of the process. : Entry Point Set, Obelisk Features Unlocked: : Tribute Quest level one: Objective: Offer 10 Cherry Berrys as Tribute to the Gods of the Wild, 0/10 Reward: Old Wooden box, Blessing of the Wild Gods. Impar looked quite excited because he had more than enough of the berries to give, without hesitation he pulled out 10 to which an option to tribute them appeared, after taping yes another strange scene occurred, a white shield of light engulfed the offering and the fruits hovered before shooting towards the obelisk and vanishing into nothingness. The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. It seemed that out of God knew how many people, he was the first to accomplish something great. His first title was right, in the real world he was pitiful, but there was an all different story in this strange land. A wide grin appeared on his face before it asked him to speak a name. "Luckless..." he spoke the word that was soon registered by the notification. Meanwhile, across the Plains of Hope, many other people were also in a similar situation glancing around and exploring. Two people had managed to find each other and were currently speaking about what was happening, one wearing sports attire the other seemed like a middle-aged businessman. In another spot, a young girl was sitting in a field of flowers enjoying her time in this strange land while near a lake an elderly looking man with a shrub-like white beard was strangely glancing at some glowing fish in a stream with a thoughtful expression. One could say everyone was adapting in their own way to this odd world, but it was then that suddenly a notification appeared in their minds causing them to feel surprised with some awe as if they were in a video game. "Luckless of Earth has completed the first quest within this Dimension & has been granted an extra reward, Strive hard humanity this chance for greatness is not given to all humans if you are left behind it will be quite disappointing. As the first quest has been completed, you are all now able to transfer back and forth between this world and Earth by willing it." The name Luckless was now marked in the minds of everyone that was sent here to this strange world but of course no one really knew what it meant or what the purpose of being here was though many who were afraid willed themselfs out, there wasn''t one person here who didn''t think the outside world wouldn''t be shocked by the events here who knew what would occur. Meanwhile, Impar willed his stats to open. : Impar Liaus: Health: 10/10 Hunger: 99% Title: First Batch (Grants: luck +3) F First To Complete A Quest (Grants: 1+ in Strength and Agility) First To Tribute (Grants: 2+ Luck) Strength: 4 Stars Luck: 8 Agility: 4 Stars Intelligence: Not Bright Wisdom: Not A Sage Either. "Seems about right as the well-fed effect has run out and the blessing shows as well" he uttered as he glanced at the blessing of the god''s icon that represented a buff which was beside the protection duration he had first acquired. "That notification, thankfully I picked a different name it would be troublesome if people did some digging on me, more so now that we can travel back to the real world" He was sweating bullets as he narrowly avoided a disaster by choosing a different name. Grinning to himself he willed the New Wooden Box to appear before it showed a new table of loot rates as he taped it once. : New Wooden Box Loot Rates: Worn Items: 50% Common Items: 20% Uncommon Items:20% Superior Items: 9% Rare items 1% "Here we go!" Wiling it into the open, it looked like a magical, parchment of sheepskin with glowing white runes on it that seemed to wriggle as if they were alive. : Basic Ticket - Question To God - Rare: Description: Allows one to ask a single basic question to the Creator God. LIAUS Chapter 3 The World In A Frenzy. Impar had no intention of wasting such a useful item right off the bat he was confident that he would find out the reason he and others were cast into this dimension eventually and considering it was a basic question only two possibilities should occur after using the item. One would be using the item and asking the easiest quickest way to achieve being ahead of other people. in which case it would be considered not a basic question by gods standard, and Impar would have no choice but to waste it on something else without taking the item back, in the meantime he wasn''t in any rush he would wait for a little before using the item he had a feeling he would need it. Eventually, he pulled out the leather adventurer set. It was in the shape of a sigil with a picture of brown attire on it. When he thought about how he would be able to equip it the sigil magically glowed and shot out a ray of light that engulfed impar. When that light dissipated, he was covered with a set of leather attire that consisted of a leather cap, leather tunic, leather gloves, leather pants, leather shoes. It seemed worn down and looked as if it were picked off from someone who was chased by wolves. : Old Leather Set: :6/6 Set Bonus: Increases defence by 1. "yuck..well with each piece giving me one defence including that set bonus? i guess my defence should be ok for a starter " He glanced at his stats again to see a new addition was added it showed that his defence was currently at 7 which made him think as he progressed he would unlock more stats though he cringed somewhat as he could even smell the weird odour that lingered on the armour. Though he was a little disappointed as he realised another fact. "Ehh? No weapon?...well shit" Being at a loss but then realised he had the fledgeling mage handbook. "I''m sure it will teach me some magic I can use!" excitement welled up in his body he could imagine himself learning a fireball spell something any human would kill to have a chance to obtain. he quickly opened the book before it showed a sight similar to the forager''s handbook. "Learn" he uttered as it glowed and a ray of light shot into his mind, he was excited in every way he definitely would pay those cows and chickens a visit once he learnt an offensive spell. As his eyes were shut while he discovered the contents of the book that smile turned upside down into bitterness. " You''re kidding me...." : Contents Learnt, To Unlock Fledgeling Knowledge, please Activate your Mana Core: He could only spot the blurred out pages of the fledgeling book in his mind, and it all said the same thing for him to unlock somehow his Mana Core which he had no idea as to how to achieve. "There has to be something else I can do. no use crying over spilled milk.." Ignoring the bitterness, he began walking over to the obelisk again with some eagerness, and another window popped up. : Tribute Quest level Two: Objective Gather The Following: Branches 0/5) Stones 0/5) Moss Vine 0/5) Reward: Crafting Table Recipe - Common, Old Wooden Box. "This really reminds me of that game WorldCraftMine" God had his way of doing things he wouldn''t question what such a powerful being was thinking though it would be fascinating to wonder what those non-religious folks would think as well as the religious ones more so the nut cases who liked to argue no doubt the world will be turned upside down. paying no more attention he went on his way while making sure to take in all the sights just in case a secret was lurking somewhere, he did notice some odd colored stone that seemed rusted in color no doubt these were iron veins. Impar couldn''t help but admire the world around him a little more, it was untouched by humanity and felt amazing to be in of course this was him being protected in the meantime. He had no idea what would await in the future he didn''t consider himself a main character he felt a little calm as he travelled around some more collecting what he could. - "Eh, another one?...." kneeling down a figure clad in old leather attire holding sticks with some stones and green weeds could be seen. Four hours had gone by since he had received that quest amazingly he hadn''t come across a single person these plains were too enormous which meant that it held more secrets to unlock. While this occurred, people around the Plains of Hope were also doing their tasks. Some that had managed to find another person were talking, others had gone mad with fear and returned to the real world without coming back. Others with professions in real life such as botanists or archeologists were frothing at the mouth wasting their time simply analysing what they could here. people were unsure of what to do while the minority considered this a chance to lead humanity onward and wasted no second trying to get ahead of the pack, God didn''t seem to discriminate as people of all sorts of backgrounds the incredibly rich, the middle class, the poor and the incredibly poor all of them within this new world. The outside world of course had gone into a frenzy. The secret had been kept for only an hour before many things started to occur. One person ran to his local news station they thought he was a loon at first, but when he teleported to the Plains of Hope right in front of them, the journalists all froze in deathly silence. Some were freaked out and prayed to all sorts of gods. Others smelled a great scoop while the editor in chief knew something very very big was going to occur. That man called other journalists stationed across the world, and they were reporting the same thing. The news was all over the place scrambling to get ahead of their competitors, the headlines more crazier than the last. "Aliens abduct humans to inhabit a new world!" "God is taking people to heaven!!" "Video game world, God is a gamer!" "Humanity to pioneer new world, God''s orders!" No one was sure how to come up with a headline for this sort of story, but they knew the crazier it sounded, the more people would read it and since this fire was lighting the world, it began to spread more and more. The world government eventually had to step in before the masses started to cry out that the end was near and announce to the ordinary people quickly. "Please Remain calm this does not bare any danger to humanity, we are still looking into this matter, but again this does not endanger humanity!" They were also at a loss for words. Secret service was sent out to gather people chosen by God for questioning and such, though when one thing didn''t go right, the individual directly teleported back to the plains of hope with no worry even the cold calm agents were dumbfounded and spooked knowing they needed a lighter touch rather than ordering others around. All organisations with funds to throw around were doing their best to gather as much intel as they could on this new world some were starting to offer people large sums for any bit of info they could come up with. No one was sure what was going on, but the smarter ones knew a way to make a profit would surely reveal itself as well. - Impar was unaware of the happenings in the real world he had no intention to return at least for now. He was continuing and glanced at his quest progress after picking up another decent sized branch. : Tribute Quest level Two: Objective Gather The Following: Branches 5/5) Stones 5/5) Moss Vine 5/5) Reward: Crafting Table Recipe - Common, Old Wooden Box. "Great I should head back.." glancing up at the sky he noticed that it should be nearing mid-afternoon the sun was similar to that of the earth even the moon looked the same except it was much closer and larger than the one back home. As Impar turned around to head back to the obelisk, he felt a chill run up his spine and quickly fell to the ground not daring to move an inch he was terrified he felt a weird sensation that told him danger was all around him. The plains shook, and the clouds parted a massive gust of wind blew across the landscape like a tornado in the sky, he managed to sneak a glance before noticing a sizeable ominous shadow flying along causing a massive gust of wind as it did. This behemoth was at least 100 meters long. "D...dragon!!.. it''s a fucking dragon!..." The large shadow reached a point where the sun showed its figure, a dragon with emerald-like scales that glowed with radiance and a western look with a proud single horn on its forehead emitting a glowing green light that seemed to distort the space around it was flying through the plains of hope calmly at least to itself. It seemed to notice it was being glanced at, its large left eye with a red slit pupil turned and glanced down at the pitiful insect that was Impar, of course, it couldn''t care less as it continued onwards passed the horizon. The forest nearby and plains soon regained it''s calm for a moment before the howling of wolves and sounds of animals in a crazed manner began to cry out in frustration as if they were angry but didn''t dare utter a sound when that creature was around. "I need to be careful... if that thing were pissed off, I would be dead without the protection... I can''t waste time " quickly lifting himself and collecting the stuff he held and placing it in his inventory he rushed off towards the obelisk. LIAUS Chapter 4 Goblins Cave. After that encounter with a dragon Impar realised that right now he was in a peaceful state, but eventually he would be surrounded by blood one way or another. he knew that this was new and enticing to people, but the protection God gave them was there for humanity''s ignorance knowing they would treat this as easygoing. "If this dimensional world or whatever does progress like some weird game, it won''t be easy and I don''t think there will be restarts I need to treat each step carefully until I know more." facing the large structure and the notification window that appeared he turned in the items required to complete his quest. : Objective Complete: : Old Wooden Box Acquired: : Crafting Table Recipe Acquired - Common: The Box was the first thing Impar brought out with a greedy look on his face he activated it while praying that his luck would work in his favour again "come on come on...." he uttered under his breathe silently. : Your Luck has activated and affected the results: "YES!!" It was then that he noticed a chicken jump out of the bushes as it began to peck at the ground looking for some juicy worms or bugs to eat. "hehe...." Glancing at the chicken than at his sword and back again towards the chicken Impar gave a grin before rushing over and giving the creature a wack with all his might, his heart was racing. : Critical Strike 28 Damage: Sure enough, the chicken gave an odd squeal before it was insta killed with no effort. It fell onto the ground like a limp corpse and a moment later exploded into a small burst of smoke, leaving just one item that transferred directly to his inventory. : Chicken Feather Acquired - Common: It was as expected the corpse vanished, and it left behind an item in his inventory. Impar was relaxed knowing he didn''t need to butcher the carcass. Checking the feather, it wasn''t anything special that he could use at the moment. After walking for a little bit, impar glanced at the sky and realised the sun would near its time to set in a few hours and anyone with half a brain would recognise that it would be more dangerous by then. "Somewhere not too far..." Impar gave it careful thought he explored the terrain around the obelisk for a half hour to memorise what he could to have a home ground advantage when need be. The obelisk was near a massive cliff the terrain was bumpy, and there was a cave entrance nearly 3 meters high and 2 meters wide that led downwards. "I still have the protection I should be fine..if anything happens." Impar stood in front of the dark cave entrance with nervousness before he pulled out a handful of the mana shards that when held in a handful emitted a reasonably decent light, he then began his descent. Making his way down the odd cave it seemed that it was empty other than the dripping of water from stalactites, Impar knew he had to keep himself on edge he didn''t want his body to become used to not feeling jumpy despite the protection, if it got used to it then it would slow his reflexes.Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. "This world or whatever is probably plenty of times larger then earth or at least i think it is. If I''m part of this first batch of people, I can assume that maybe a few million people were picked I doubt I will run into anyone so soon. there are probably many obelisks out there." What Impar didn''t know was the plains of hope itself spanned the size of North America in itself, though it would be discovered later on. As he made his way deeper underground the temperature seemed to become somewhat hotter, it made him uncomfortable but not enough to cause too many issues. Only after 3 minutes of heading down the cave which seemed sloped did Impar noticed an opening with a light on the other side, he quickly put away the mana shards and carefully approached only to see quite a sight. "Hmm..." in that opening spanned a somewhat large cavern which had other entrances connected to it from other caves goblins were going back and forth between those entrances, in the centre of the cavern was a village, of course for these goblins. They seemed to be semi-intelligent able to build small huts for themselves as they were no larger than a 5-year-old there were hundreds of them, and they wore rags like outfits made from vines and leaves and even torn linen. They held sticks sharpened to be pointed and the goblins that had wooden shoulder pads even wielded sticks with sharp rocks tied to the tips as if they were the elites. In the centre of the goblin village was a large ruined statue of an unknown mighty figure half sunken in the ground, in front of that statue was a makeshift wooden stage with a small altar that held a glowing white orb. Though that orb was not unguarded, a goblin with a long beard and a droopy face who wore ruined linen clothing and held a branch with what looked like mana shards embedded into it was currently sitting cross-legged speaking to a group of young goblins. "That old bastard is a mage or something..I''m sure of it." Impar who could barely make the goblin out from this distance whispered. He took a few breaths before hiding himself after double checking that no goblin appeared nearby. "-ok brainstorming time...-" he began to consider his options calmly, right now he had the protection buff that didn''t allow him to die or take damage. when he attacked the chicken, it didn''t vanish which was a good sign. "-100 durability, I''m certain I can beat them all in 14 hours or less...I''m also sure these things feel fear, once they see their attacks don''t work on me they won''t get in my way-" planning more his heart was racing with caution, these were living creatures and hadn''t done him any harm but at the same time life was a place where the strong eat the weak if he showed weakness he would be beaten down again his best friend had even betrayed him. His face twisted into one of fury then turned to a look of calmness "-if they are friendly il learn from them and see if I can get protection or something if they are hostile il demand the orb or il kill them all. And if they don''t understand me....well il kill my way to the altar and steal whatever that orb is!. but before I do....-" Impar wanted to test something, he took out the wooden sword and turned the tip of it towards him he took a deep breath before stabbing it towards his stomach to which a faint white light rippled and stopped it from penetrating. : 0 Self Inflicted Damage Taken Due to Protection of god: "Perfect!." Impar smirked before standing up and eating some food to get the well-fed buff. It seemed he wanted to act now before the blessing of the wild gods ended otherwise it would waste more time. Walking out with his weapon in hand he made his way into the open area before glancing down the small cliff that was a 2-meter jump, he quickly jumped down skidding downwards and caught his balance without taking damage and then glanced in front of him. In front of him, there were several goblin patrol groups of 4 around the rocky terrain one of which noticed him, the one who spotted him turned to its comrades. "Kwirk work wraikk wiok!!" it uttered in an odd language before the other four in that group began to reply and speak as well. afterwards, one pulled out a bizarre bone horn and blew into it causing the sound to echo throughout the cavern, many goblins knew this sound as danger, and so all the warriors and elites gathered towards the direction with weapons in tow. Before Impar knew what was going on a minute was all it took for him to be surrounded by over 200 goblin warriors, his legs shook slightly as he kept telling himself he had gods protection. Glancing at these goblins that surrounded him and were screeching it looked like something from a cartoon. Their tones were in different ranges from green to greyish with their beady red or black eyes and their shouts causing spittle to fly out. "Can you understand me?! " he called out to try and communicate, but it didn''t seem to cause much difference as if these goblins hated humans greatly by the look of things. All of a sudden a goblin from behind rushed over before it thrust its sharpened stick towards Impars back managing to hit before a white light enfulged it. : 0 Damage Taken Due To Protection Of God: Seeing this light the goblins all suddenly grew silent and confused, impar turned around to see the goblin that stabbed at him. Though it only remained silent for another moment as impar blinked at it. It stabbed again at him this time to his stomach, but the same notification appeared. When this happened veiny lines appeared on Impars forehead, he clenched his teeth as he held a murderous look in his eyes. "you want to backstab me... all of you are so DEAD!" he felt invincible, this protection was all he needed he could also vent his frustration out on these things. He smashed his wooden longsword down onto the goblin with both hands as the weapon nearly split open its head. : Critical Strike 28 Damage Done to Underground Goblin : The goblin staggered back as it seemed stun almost like a hidden ailment impars strength also looked to give it quite a bit of damage, so he continued again, these underground goblins all had 30 health so ignoring the cries of surprise from the goblins around him he smashed the longsword again on the pitiful creature that had ambushed him causing its head to explode in a gory mess. Soon quite enough a few things occurred. Firstly it was confirmed that killing a creature will transfer the loot directly to his inventory. Secondly, that gore and blood did exist in this dimension. The dead goblin laid twitching with its brain matter scattered along the cavern ground. LIAUS Chapter 5 One-Sided Slaughter. : Linen scrap Cloth Acquired - worn: : Sharpened Stick Acquired - Worn: : Title Acquired: : First To Slay Hostile Creatures Acquired - (Grants 2+ Strength) : Impar was ecstatic because it didn''t make a worldwide announcement otherwise people might have guessed that he took advantage of his protection it also told him that no one else killed anything. The bonus strength was a good thing as well. It meant as long as he hit a goblin on the head he would instakill them for sure, though he didn''t have time to think before the little creatures swarmed him. "..Shit" he panicked and began to smack in several ways even mimicking whirlwind like attacks which seemed to scare them, white lights were flickering on and off his body which appeared to anger the goblins even more as they couldn''t look to grab or injure this human. In the meantime, he had already slain several dozens of goblins and he wasn''t feeling any drain in stamina or fear, once he understood just how many goblins there were and how quickly they fell and that their weapons didn''t work it only made him feel a bloodlust, at one point he even pounced on a goblin using his strength to grab its right arm and swing it like as a flail. This feeling of power is something he probably wouldn''t feel for , so it was best he took advantage of it, once he cleared this place he could even consider moving right in and learn that crafting table recipe, if he still had time he would definitely go to the wolf cave and clear them out as well. The screams and yells of mad goblins echoed about as their heads burst open, and bodies went flying. Impar was unstoppable like a blunted meat grinder. The goblins grew fearful and didn''t rush at him anymore as 70 of their comrades had already fallen, and they hadn''t even dealt one wound onto this human. "you little fuckers backing away now.......that''s right....let me give you something" Impar gave a mad look as he pulled out a wooden grenade, now was a better time than ever to test out its effects after grabbing it he threw it into a clustered group of goblins. As it fell at their feet, they looked at it for a moment a blinding flash of light and a small explosion that followed. Thirteen goblins in one go were wiped out with their limbs and pieces falling about. The remaining goblins all panicked, the smell of bitter blood filled the cavern as corpses littered the ground none of them dared to step forward after that explosion. Impar looked around while holding his sword he understood now what it meant to be feared it was an intoxicating feeling like a drug. "Anymore going to fight?....if you don''t come at me il go to you." Right as he was about to charge towards a goblin a blue bolt of light shot forwards and smacked into him. : Lesser Mana Bolt 0 Damage Inflicted Due to Gods Protection: Impar, of course, was knocked back a few feet skidding along the ground due to the force of the attack. He looked at the source and spotted the old mage goblin, surrounded by the so-called elites. "The boss is finally stepping in it seems..." he spoke with no fear in his heart as the attack did no damage. the old goblin also seemed incredibly surprised its attack that took decades to learn did nothing to this human, worry seeped into its heart as it began to consider its options, it spoke out after approaching but remained 40 meters away, surrounded by its protectors. "kwaek....hwuman...Why....ywo....come ...HWHERe.." it tried to speak in English but obviously, couldn''t do it properly. "Why I came here? So you can speak English or maybe its some universal translator thing? Anyway...first of all, I need a base, and this cavern is great. Second you guys attacked me first!!!. Thirdly that orb at that statue I want it!" The old goblin listened, it couldn''t speak English well. Maybe it encountered its fortune in learning a bit of it. "KWIEEEK!! Orb...Sawarcred!!....Nwto yours!!!....Bwelongs...Gowblins!!....Cwrven!!...Hwomee!!! lweave!!!...owr Fwight tiooo Dwteath!!!" For impar this was a no-brainer he had to consider these things wanting revenge later on and when his protection expired he would be screwed, the moment he attacked them he had always planned to kill all of them if not as many of them as he could he even tried to dodge attacks to learn a bit of combat basics. "Fine by me!!" He dashed forward heading towards the old goblin mage that was chanting oddly and firing those odd mana balls spells it was terrific to look at, and Impar would have loved to learn but right now every second counted. The goblins realised that he was heading towards their leader and tried to get in his way, but Impar pulled out two more wooden grenades and hurled them which incited panic. This time since they wanted to block him and clustered together he had managed to wipe out 40 goblins in one go which left a big gap and caused panic. "KWEAAK!! hwuman!! Chwaeater!!...." the old goblin mage screeched as it grew panicked. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Impar was excited, and within 2 minutes he was a meter away from the old goblin, but a warning sounded off in his ear. : Weapon Durability 0/100: The longsword he was happily butchering these creatures with suddenly vanished and appeared broken in his inventory, sure enough, the old goblin saw the disappointed, confused look on Impar''s face and snickered knowing something happened. "kwweakk!! nwuo...wwweapon!!....wew....win!!" of course this was its biggest mistake by taunting Impar. He glanced at the joyful creature then rushed over and pummeled his right fist right into the it''s face. : 9 Damage Inflicted: Looking at the goblin it seemed to have quite a bit of Health he couldn''t see it before, but after getting a hit in, its health was a shocking 90/100. "I have plenty of weapons....want to see?..." he gave a mocking look as he walked over to the dazed goblin mage, while the goblins behind rushed over and tried to grab at him with failure they then tried to grab the old goblin mage to get it away from Impar as they all squeaked and screeched. impar pulled out a wooden grenade as he held an excited yet mad look in his eyes. He pried open the screeching old goblins largemouth and forcefully shoved the wooden grenade down its throat which caused it to twitch and shriek in agony with tears and snot even running down his face. "See sharing is good!" he laughed before stopping, it seemed he was enjoying this a bit too much and as he was about to continue thinking an explosion occurred. : Critical Damage 200 Inflicted: Sure enough, the old goblin was blown to bits as it tried to vomit out the wooden grenade, even the goblins around it were killed. It was at this point he received a notification. : You have Slain the first Wooden Ranked Creature. Your name will be known throughout the ages, Luckless Of Humanity: : Title Acquired: : Warrior Of Humanity: (Grants The passive Ruination Domain: All Enemies around you will feel oppressed and feel weakened) : : Your Luck has activated and affected the results: : Low-grade mage Stave Acquired - Superior: : Lesser Mana Bolt Parchment Acquired - Rare : Impar had no time to enjoy the situation because the goblins were now all fleeing for their lives after realising that they would be killed. Wasting no time in chasing down as many as he could and killing all he reached, the new passive was amazing. The goblins that neared within 10 meters of him seemed to grow sluggish and fearful, he only needed to rush up and kill them using two Stone tipped sticks in a dual-wield fashion the damage was one less then his oak longsword but with two it rounded out even more so with criticals. He felt bad for the younger ones although they were only 2 feet in height and had done no wrong he knew they would grow to be evil little things that would cause him trouble so he had no choice but to butcher the few ones as well which did make him feel somewhat sick. Impar wondered how these things even reproduced though after entering into one of their huts he saw a goblin spewing a small greenish egg from its mouth covered in goo next to a pile of other eggs of all sizes that left him sickened. In the end, he killed that goblin, he then exited the hut and continued his slaughter. Unfortunately, at least 20 to 30 goblins managed to get away the ones that were too old to fight had long since been killed by Impar and the cowardly goblins also fled. Impar then spent time grabbing all the corpses and piling them together he was conflicted about lighting the mound on fire as the smoke and smell would be disgusting and may draw attention. Thankfully it seemed there was a timer on the corpses as they all vanished even the blood and gore, it appeared that if he didn''t have a use for them they would decay over time. After burning down the huts with the goblin egg spawns inside since he didn''t want to be covered in goo if they exploded he carefully watched around to see if anything happened. though his worries were unwarranted as the smoke dispersed around the large cavern and many tunnels with little hassle, the smell was disgusting but he bared with it. Though it seemed that everything within this so-called village belonged to him now except for the huts which were barely tall enough for him to enter. He torched everything and then gathered the materials and things that might seem of value. The goblins didn''t seem to have much. There were two stacks of cooked beef a stack of chicken, in his inventory what made a stack was 100 of an item. he had 100 free slots and after this pillaging 23 of those were taken up. Other then the meat there was Cherry berrys and an assortment of herbs ranging from worn to common. it seemed that food never decayed over time, it would always remain fresh which was more or less a miracle of God''s world this made it easier to store supplies. Glancing at the large fire pit, he felt its intense heat and understood why the temperature below was so easy to manipulate. Though ignoring it all, for now, he turned his attention towards the statue and the white orb on the altar. While he focused here, the outside world was gradually coming to grips with more information about this strange place, rushed live interviews, internet threads and virtual reality meetings, word soon spread that there was a strange new world that had transferred people over, what was more amazing was that someone managed to bring a fruit from that world to earth and brought it out to show during an interview. following which the broadcast was forcefully terminated by government authority before the government secret service rushed over. "What''s the big idea!! this is a fruit from another world why did you shut the broadcast down?" the pale young man who seemed 20 in age roared out at the cameramen who were discussing to themselves. the news anchor who was questioning him tried to calm him down. "p.please relax sir this came from the government we can''t disobey them." he pleaded for him to relax." the young man of course was pissed it was his moment to shine. " government? what sort of crap... doesn''t the media have integrity?...ehh who are you guys?" he spoke as he noticed a group of 4 individuals rugged and cold looking in black attire led by a beautiful young woman in a suit with a white blouse beneath that hid her ripe bust she seemed quite strong-willed. She had brown hair tied into a ponytail that reached to her shoulder and a cold piercing gaze that suited her jade-like tone, looking at the man before her and then at the hand-sized purple scaley object in his left hand. "you''re the Other Worlder? and that''s the fruit?...hmm pack the fruit up and arrest him, do it quickly we need to get that to the lab," she spoke after turning to look at her accomplices.
