《The Light The Dark and What's In Between》


 Chapter 1: The Beginning of The End

    There''s a gamer known among every gamer in Harth, he goes by the username "Eclipser". He is recognized as the undefeatable champion, and he is currently competing in the final match of a $50,000 at home Gaming Tournament.


    "Ladies and gentlemen! The final match will begin in five minutes!", The announcer said with an excited tone of voice.


    The crowd began cheering uncontrollably since the other contender known as "Piercer" was expected to be the only challenger with a chance to take Eclipser on and finally defeat him.


    "You can do this, you''ve been training for this moment for years now", Piercer thought to himself, he could feel the sweat dripping down his forehead and he had never been this nervous before.


    Eclipser, on the other hand, had the calmest expression on his face. He didn''t care about winning or losing...he Just loved videogames and he had fun playing competitively the prize money was just a plus. He thought, "Let''s see if this kid will give me a challenge, it been so long since I''ve struggled against another player." He began to think up the quickest and most efficient way to get ahead of his opponent in order to have time to talk to h...


    "It''s finally time to begin ladies and gentlemen! The match will begin at 3..2..1..and START!" The announcer said, interrupting Eclipsers train of thought.


    The crowd cheered and the match had finally begun! Both contenders met in the middle and shook hands as a sign of respect and acknowledgment towards each other, then they parted off and the match had officially begun!


    "I won''t be holding back", Eclipser exclaimed, "I will stop you here and now Eclipser!", Piercer shouted.


    The game they were playing was called "Hain Point", it was a game where two players had many options of different characters to pick from to battle versus each other. Each had their own unique set of skills and strategy involved in order to secure a win. In the game, there are 5 different points that you need to capture and you can go into what is called the Jungle, which is an area full of tall grass and trees and that''s where monsters and minions spawn. The point is to defeat them in order to prove yourself to them by showing them your strength so that they can help you capture the 4 points that you cannot. Your character would get stronger and stronger due to how many points were captured and how long they were owned for.


    (Levels were the most important thing in the game, for example, if a level 5 tried fighting a level 8, they would lose immediately since the level 8 would be too ahead so you had to do your best to catch up in experience to level up, the players could either win by killing one another 3 times or by gaining a huge lead of points over their opponent.


    They both began to farm up in order to obtain a lead over each other, Eclipser having more experience and knowledge about the game than his opponent took an unusual route in the game to obtain a huge lead by the time they were ten minutes into the game Eclipser was already 2 levels ahead of Piercer.The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.


    Piercer began to notice the difference in levels and he knew that he had to make a play in order to have a chance of coming back. Thing is, Eclipser already knew what he would try to do against him from experience and countered every move he would try against him. Piercer wasted so much time trying to get ahead by using tricks that Eclipser had now gained too much of a lead and was too ahead of him.


    Eclipser suddenly gets a call from the most important person to him, Mercury. He then clicks on the enemies only controlled point knowing that is the win condition and he is so ahead of Piercer that the game is literally unwinnable for him now and completely disregards the game to answer the call with his full attention. "Hey, Mercury how are y...?" He tried asking but she interrupted him, "Grey please listen okay? I''m being chased by a very dangerous group and I can''t bring them to you. I need you to be careful I know how reckless you are, but my group "The Light" will take you in! Yes please look for them okay? Promise me!" Mercury says with a scared and nervous voice. Grey just nods yes and Mercury goes on to say, "Grey, I never got a chance to tell you, but I...lo...y...". The video begins to buffer but before it cuts off, Grey notices a dark figure behind her begin to appear and then the video cut off.


    Eclipser then grabbed the first pair of shoes he could get his hands on and left sprinting to the houses he saw in the video since they were only a block away. As he was running, his mind began to fill with terrifying things that could''ve happened to her. He wasn''t scared nor was he nervous...he Was worried for her since she was the only one who had ever been there for him.


    Once he got to the place, he began to feel despair at the sight of her glasses on the ground...in A puddle of blood and one of the lenses cracked. His body began to move on its own and his emotions took over his mind. His body began to change, his eyes, his hands, and his arms!


    He wasn''t the only one this had happened to and it was supposed to be the most painful thing to happen to someone, but he felt no pain. His rage drove him to repeatedly punch a wall until his knuckles were broken and covered in blood.


    Two unique pairs of footsteps began coming to his direction. He looked up and his mind was focused solely on the idea that he had lost Mercury. Ready to fight anyone that came his way, he began to ready his fist and his eyes began to glow. His right eye had taken the form of a D-pad from a controller and had a black light shining from it while his left eye had taken the form of the 4 Face buttons from a controller as well, but with a white light coming from them!


    Before he could even think up a strategy as to how to beat these two, one of them appeared behind him suddenly and knocked him out with one hit.


    "Luna come on you know you didn''t need to use that much power against him stop overdoing it every time you get excited.",Silver said. Luna responds, "Oh shut up Silver, just for that you get to take him back to base! I don''t want to hear any complaints either!".


    Silver then carried Grey who was now unconscious and bleeding from almost everywhere due to his transformation and from losing his control over his emotions which caused him to completely demolish a wall with his fists, back to what they called their base. Luna picks up Mercury''s glasses and says, "Don''t worry Mercury, I won''t abandon you and I will protect Grey with my life as you asked me to so please be safe till we come to get you."


    -Back to Grey''s room-


    In the time that everything was happening, Piercer tried to fight him three times but failed even though all Grey had done was set his character to "Auto-Attack". He then surrendered the game to Grey not knowing he was afk (away from keyboard).


    "Ladies and gentlemen there you have it! Eclipser continues to be the undefeated champion and that concludes the tournament see you next time!"

 Chapter 2:Welcome to The Light!

    It¡¯s a rainy night, a woman runs holding a grey basket very close to her. Tears running down her face as if her heart had been completely shattered into a million pieces.


    She stops in front of a house and makes her way to the front door. The living room light was on and the woman could see a little girl being fed by her parents. She lets out a smile and says,¡± Look, baby, a family.¡± She lifts up the blanket in the basket and says,¡± I love you, please don''t hate me for this. Grow up strong and save us from them¡­¡±, she¡¯s interrupted by the sound of lightning and she gives out a shriek.


    ¡°Did you hear that?¡±,the little girl''s mother says,¡± Sounded like someone outside, grab Mercury and go upstairs while I check it out.¡±, responds to the father.


    ¡°Okay but be careful my love¡±, she says. He heads towards the door and looks back at his wife picking up his daughter, and he smiles before opening the door. Once the door is open he peaks out and sees nothing and no one there. He starts to close the door but then he hears a cry right in front of him.


    Chills run down his spine but he quickly regains his cool as he looks down and sees where the noise was coming from. Lifting the blanket inside the basket, he is shocked to see a baby with eyes full of tears. Without giving it a second thought he picks the baby up and says to it,¡± Don¡¯t cry, don¡¯t cry now. Let¡¯s go inside before you catch a cold little buddy.¡±


    He realizes what just happened, a parent just abandoned their kid here as if it were a burden. His wife comes down with Mercury and asks,¡± What are you holding babe?¡±.


    ¡°It¡¯s a baby boy Clarissa! Someone left him here and I refuse to leave him alone.¡± He looks at her with a determined face and she smiles proudly and says,¡± You¡¯ve always been a hero haven¡¯t you Mario? I agree with taking care of him and so does Mercury!¡±, the little girl lets out a giggle.


    They looked at the basket he came in and decided to name him Grey. How fitting for him, he had black hair with a bit of white hair in the front. ¡°A few strands of white hair? That''s new to me I¡¯ve never seen that¡±, said Clarissa,¡± Yeah, what a unique kid we¡¯ve got here.¡±, Mario says.


    The family was now four and happier than ever with the new addition to their home.


    Eight years later¡­


    ¡°Grey! School is about to start let''s line up before we get into trouble¡±, said Mercury.


    ¡°Yes, mam!¡±, said Grey as he lined up behind her.


    The school had kids line up in front of numbers representing their homeroom classes before the teacher came to lead them to class.


    While in line, three kids behind Grey and Mercury were mumbling about something while they laughed loudly. One of the kids then approached Grey and said,¡± Your hair is so weird and ugly!¡±, he then laughed and ran back to the group of kids while they pointed at him.


    Grey began to feel sad and angry which made him begin to start walking towards them ready to hit the kid who just bullied him in front of all the kids in school. Mercury grabs his hand, stopping him from going to them and says,¡± Don¡¯t listen to him Grey they¡¯re just jealous that you¡¯re in front of them. Just talk to me and ignore them.¡± Grey then thanks her for stopping him then blushes and asks her,¡± You going to let go of my hand now?¡±.This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road.     Grey wakes up and looks around realizing he doesn¡¯t recognize anything near him. He sits up and rubs his head because he couldn¡¯t remember what he had just dreamed about or what had happened to get him here. He began to panic and get out of the bed he was in, but before he could stand up Luna walked in and asked,¡± Finally woke up huh kid?¡±, Grey was confused as to who this person was since his memory wasn¡¯t being very cooperative with him.


    ¡°Who are you?¡±, he asked with a confused expression.¡±I¡¯m Luna, the captain of The Light and I fought alongside your little girlfriend Mercury¡±, she responded. Luna had blue cloth wrapped around her fists and head with her fists clenched she looked ready to fight.


    He began to get flashbacks of Mercury''s video call and of her bloody glasses, beginning to feel angry.


    ¡±Don''t you dare lose control again because next time I won''t hold back as much as I did yesterday." Luna said.


    "Oh, so it was you that brought me here. What is this place anyway?", Grey asked, "This is the base for the good guys'' kiddo", she said.


    "The good guys? What, are you guys like superheroes or something?" Grey said with a mocking grin on his face."No, we are no heroes. We are The Light, a group of 10 magically gifted people fighting to protect the inhabitants of Harth" Luna said with a proud look on her face.


    "The Light huh? I bet you''re gonna tell me that there''s a group called The Darkness or something like that, that would be so cliche", Grey says jokingly.


    Grey looks up at Luna expecting a laugh or a chuckle from her. She had the most serious face on her and she said, "You''re exactly right, there is a group that goes by "The Darkness", they are evil and their objective is to force every single inhabitant to follow their way of thinking and inflict fear and despair.", said Luna.


    Grey had a shocked expression as he was in disbelief as to what was happening around him, he had always stayed at home playing video games and not realizing what was going on around him.


    "Listen, kid, Mercury knew you would end up here one way or another and until we rescue her from The Darkness I will accept you as her substitute in our team. She had some amazing abilities," said Luna.


    "Abilities?" He said, "Yes, magical abilities. They allowed her to control any element on the periodic table and control it with her own will.", says Luna.


    Grey started getting confused. He wondered how he would live up to their expectations. Besides, he was just a shut-in with some knowledge of basic magic right?


    "Luna I don''t think I can ever be a comparison to Em...I mean Mercury, I''m just not strong enough...". Before Grey could finish what he had to say, Luna pulled out a hand mirror and faced it towards him.


    He was shocked at what he was seeing. "Is that ... is that me!?", He shouted.


    His eyes had changed completely. "Buttons?" Grey says in confusion. His left eye had four buttons and his right eye had a directional pad just like a gaming controller!


    "I...", Grey struggled to get any words out." Grey, it''s okay it''ll take some getting used to but don''t worry you''ll be fine!", Luna says.


    "I LOOK SO COOL!", Grey shouts while Luna is confused at his reaction but relieved that he was accepting his transformation this quickly.


    "With that transformation come powers you can use to save your little girlfriend", Grey blushes, "I will train you and help you learn how to use them, but in exchange, you have to join The Light. Do we have a deal kid?", asks Luna.


    There are nothing and no one more important than Mercury was to Grey and without a second thought, he shook Luna''s hand, "Deal, I will become strong so please help me save her."


    Luna grins and says," Okay you two it''s time to introduce yourselves to our newest addition to the team!"


    A tall man walks in alongside a girl.


    "Welcome to The Light!", they both said in unison with a smile on their faces.


    The man had no facial hair, he had 4 fangs like an animal of some sort and he was wearing a necklace with some sort of star symbol. The girl had headphones on and had musical notes as earrings. She was also chewing gum, but to a specific rhythm.


    "Grey this man is named Silver and the girl next to him is named Melody. These are only two of 6 more that you will need to meet! Three of our best are currently on a mission let''s go see how they''re doing.", Luna said.


    They began to make their way towards the main room of the base.


    Grey begins to grow curious every passing second as to what powers his newly acquired form will provide him with, and if it''ll be enough to save Mercury.
