《Black Moon》 Prologue: The Invasion June 6th, 2666 was a day that is imprinted in every human being''s minds. It was the day ''they'' invaded. ''They'' came without warning, completely catching humanity off-guard. ''They'' were stronger than we thought possible. ''They'' were armed with weapons we can''t begin to fathom. ''They'' massacred countries. ''They'' hunted humanity to the brink of extinction. ''They'' knew we were afraid, but ''they'' made a mistake. ''They'' allowed humanity to, in the last desperate struggle to survive, create what ''they'' were perceived as. We created monsters. We became stronger. We have created hope. We started to fight back. We destroyed the bases ''they'' occupied. We captured specimens and weapons ''they'' used. ''They'' are strong, but we are adapting. We are humanity''s last line of defense. We will defend humanity to the last breath. Some call them devils. Some call them gods. Some call them the end. They call themselves the "Necroinfernum." We call them the "Lurkers." Some call us heroes. Some call us murderers. Some call us fools. Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. We call ourselves the "Sentinels." They call us "Hunters." In the struggle between humanity and the race we know as the necroinfernum, chaos befalls Earth. During the chaos, there is born a human child on the darkest hour of the darkest night. His name is Nemesetz''ah Karumeth, an orphan left in the middle of the streets. Our story starts 17 years later in a small human town named Nemid. Chapter 1: Nemesetzah Karumeth Chapter 1: Nemesetz''ah Karumeth The night was dark and hostile, seeming to swallow the twisting roads off in the distance. Eerily quiet, a man hidden by a grey cloak was walking through the empty streets, his footsteps echoing in the suffocating dark. In the man''s arms was a small bundle wrapped in cloth, a small face showing from a small gap. Two eyes could been seen looking around curiously. If someone saw those eyes, they would be surprised and maybe even a little bit afraid. It was not because the baby was scary itself, but one of it''s eyes were golden, while the other one was emerald green. Soon, the man''s steps became increasingly agitated as he hurried towards a large building isolated from the rest of the buildings beside it. Arriving at the gloomy building, the man set the bundle down at the doorsteps and knocked on the door with a worn-out brass door knocker. After knocking, the man''s figure wavered and disappeared, almost as if he was never there. A minute later, the door of the orphanage opened, and out poked the head of an old man. He looked around, and saw nobody outside. Thinking that the knock was just his imagination, he was about to close the door when he heard a weak cry coming from his feet. Looking down, he noticed the bundle of ragged cloth, and was surprised. Picking up the bundle, his head swiveled from left to right to find the person who left the baby there. Seeing nobody, he took the baby back in and closed the door. On the roof of the orphanage, a figure clad in a grey cloak nodded, before disappearing. -5 years later- A young boy around the age of five woke up, rubbing his eyes groggily. Checking an old clock hanging from the wall to his left, he quickly changed his clothes and rushed downstairs, almost tripping over his own foot. Dashing into a room, he quickly joined a line of children, ranging from an age of 3 to 18. The rules of the orphanage states that at the age of 18, the age when a teenager becomes a man, the individual must leave the orphanage and find their own way in life. The age of 18 is also when an individual can take a certain test that every young man wants to pass. This test is to see if one has the potential to become a Sentinel. At that time, one places their hands on a magical stone built from the materials scavenged from the lurkers. These stones trigger a certain phenomenon inside the human body known as the "Trial." This phenomenon allows the human body to gain certain powers, and the rank of the power is accessed to see if one can become a Sentinel or not. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of the human population can obtain powers, while the lurker population has a significantly higher chance of obtaining powers, although the chances of obtaining strong powers are lower than the human population. The powers have a ranking system, based off their power and utility. F-class powers are the weakest, and the people with these level of powers can only join 3rd tier Sentinel-training schools. E-class powers are slightly stronger than F-class powers, and can also only join 3rd tier schools. D-class powers are stronger than E-class powers by a decent margin, and the people with D-class powers can join 2nd tier schools, although the weaker D-class powers can be rejected. C-class powers are stronger than D-class powers by a decent margin, and can join 2nd tier schools. B-class powers are stronger than C-class powers by a large margin, and the stronger B-class powers can be accepted into the first-tier schools, schools that train the strongest sentinels, the "Guardians," or as the lurkers call them, the "Zexols." A-class powers are stronger by B-class powers by a significant margin, and the people with A-class powers have a 80% chance to become a Guardian. Needless to say, people with A-class powers can join the best of the first-tier schools. S-class powers and SS-class powers are the elite of the elite, beating A-class powers by a giant margin. The people with these powers are 100% able to become a Guardian. And last, there is the legendary SSS-class power. There is only one being known by mankind with a power of this level, and it is the ruler of the lurkers. S-class to SSS-class powers are usually based off elements, which are way stronger than other powers. The lurkers have their own elite force, and they are named the "Kaiju," or as the humans call it: the "Rippers." If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Grahart, the owner of this orphanage, hands out breakfast to the kids at 8:00 every morning, and if anyone didn''t wake up in time, they would not be able to eat until lunch. His turn to get food, Nemesis ran up towards the big pot, but one of the bigger boys pushed him out of the way. "Move it, loser." The boy said as Nemesis stumbled back, barely able to keep himself on his feet. Nemesis sighed in irritation. He was scorned by the other kids because of his eyes. It started when he was around three years old. Nemesis was angry at the start, but he learned to endure. After all, they were bigger than him by two or three years. Waiting for the other kids to finish getting their share, he finally went up and peered into the pot. All that was left were a few vegetables nobody wanted to eat, and one tiny potato. Seeing that the four year olds still had to get their share, Nemesis sighed, before taking two scoops of soup, two vegetables and half of the potato. After getting through breakfast without any other problems, Nemesis started doing his share of the chores. And the bigger boys. They forced him to do their share, and since their chores were suited for bigger boys, Nemesis is already a lot stronger than other people his age and size. "Looks like this''ll be another long day." He groaned. Deciding that he''ll do the easier jobs first, he left the orphanage and entered the dark forest behind it, not forgetting to grab a basket on his way out the door. He enjoyed this chore the most. Walking through the forest calms him down, and he feels most at ease away from the annoying people in the orphanage. He stopped to pick up mushrooms on the ground before continuing on his way. Movement near him caught his attention, as he spied a deer with a small fawn. Seeing the parent take care of the fawn, Nemesis thought about where his parents are, and why they left him. After musing for a while, Nemesis realized that he went farther than he''s ever been into the forest. Looking around him, he saw that he arrived at a small clearing. He noticed that the ground was made of weird looking stone instead of the usual grass. Even though the vines and plants covered most of the ground, Nemesis spotted weird markings on the ground. Approaching closer, he realized that the markings were pulsing with blue light. Tentatively, he reached a finger to touch the markings. After touching it, the markings pulsed brighter, and Nemesis fell to the ground screaming, his body writhing with pain. That was when his first change happened.

The abnormal white light left a ghastly silhouette in his eyes. Blinking a couple times, Nemesis finally regained his vision while still holding his head. Rubbing his forehead, he got a huge shock when his hands felt something poking out of his head. Panicking, he rubbed his forehead again, feeling the rough object. He traced over it with his fingers, and realized what it was. "A horn?" He whispered, aghast. Looking down, he realized that the runes he touched a moment before disappeared. ...e ....rs A ghastly voice called out inside Nemesis''s head. Swiveling his head around, Nemesis backed up into a tree. "Who''s there?" He called out. ...ne .....ers ...cy The vague whisper sounded out again. Slowly, the whispers got clearer and clearer. The last inheritor of the rune keepers, i pass upon you our legacy. Listening to the whispers inside his head, Nemesis was in confusion. "Who are the rune keepers? What do you mean by your legac-" Before Nemesis could finish, he felt another stabbing pain between his eyebrows. Opening his eyes, Nemesis found himself in a white world. In front of him was 6 pedestals. Each pedestal had a different kind of weapon embedded in it. There was a katana, bow and arrow, spear, broadsword, and a shieldlance. All of the weapons had a domineering aura surrounding it. The last pedestal was shrouded in darkness, and emitting a deadly aura. For some reason, Nemesis felt drawn to the darkness as he drew closer and closer to the sixth pedestal. Brushing the darkness with his fingers, his arm suddenly jerked and was pulled inside. He heard a voice ring out. "Nemesetz''ah Karumeth. Attribute: Darkness Avatar: Hades Optimal Training Technique: Death''s Embrace Optimal weapon: Hellfire Scythe In the orphanage, a practised rhythm was droning on, created by the orderly lull of children doing their chores silently and diligently. The calming sound, however was abruptly disrupted by the front door being blown open. Shocked, the children stared towards the open door as a figure armed to the teeth stepped in with a loud thump. thump thump thump A commotion came from upstairs as an elderly lady hurried down. The death of her husband a year ago still showed on her haggard face as she approached the intruder. Eyeing him carefully, she invited him to talk upstairs where they could have some privacy. ¡°Sir, I told you I have never seen a boy with discoloured eyes, and if I did, I would surely remember,¡± the old lady said carefully. The man eyed her for a while before he abruptly turned around and left. The purpose of his travels here were to find and capture a young boy by the age of around 5 who had the distinguished features of heterochromic eyes. He was informed that the boy might have been taken here some years ago and dropped off. Unfortunately, it seemed that it was not the case, as the intimidating man eyed every orphan that he came across on his way to the exit. Nemesis woke up to the singing of birds that could only signify that it was morning. Suddenly remembering something, he swiped his hands over his forehead only to feel complete smoothness. ¡°Guess it was all a dream,¡± he said to himself and made his way back towards the orphanage, sighing at the berating Hilda would give him for staying outside for so long. When he got back, he tried to discreetly slip his way inside, but froze when a childish female voice called him out.Stolen novel; please report. ¡°Nemesis! Where¡¯d you go?¡± A little girl around the same age as Nemesis asked. She had soft cheeks and pale brown hair which faded in colour the further on it went, with hints of pink towards the edges. The little girl¡¯s name was Luna and she was one of Nemesis¡¯ best friend over the years he had been in the orphanage. A boy with the stature of an 8 year old approached and joined in their conversation. ¡°Wow, I kept telling Luna that you were probably kidnapped by baddies and fed lollipops until your tummy exploded,¡± the taller boy laughed. His name was Chad and he along with Luna were the best - and only - friends Nemesis had in the orphanage. Chad was the same age as Nemesis and Luna but had the size of children a couple of years older. Although his size was intimidating, he was not extremely talented in the intelligence department, and he always insisted that baddies fed lollipops to children after they kidnapped them as a way of torture. And so Nemesis fell back into the easing lull of his orphanage life, his disappearance for a day seemingly unnoticed by anyone other than Luna and Chad. -12 years later- A young man walked through the forest with his two companions, a young woman and another man. The three would have looked like any other civilian except for the fact that they... looked anything but ordinary. The sole lady of the group of three was stunningly beautiful. Her golden pink hair flowed like a river as she walked, the ends fluttering just above her toned thighs. Even though her garb looked poor and simply made, it couldn¡¯t hide her beauty from anyone who looked at her. All the men from the town would have flocked to her if not for one of the two male companions she was constantly with. The man was huge. He dwarfed his two companions when walking with them due to his abnormal size. It seemed as if the man was made from pure muscle as the heads of normal people only reached up to his stomach. His thighs were as thick as an average man¡¯s waist, and his body was a mountain of pure muscle. The young man walking in the middle was slim yet his hidden muscles told of explosive strength. His muscles were dense as defined, but they were hidden under his shabby tunic. He had raven black hair, and his face was sharp and handsome. The most striking part about this man, however, were his two eyes: One green and one gold. As the three friends were walking, they started discussing about their future. ¡±I¡¯m so nervous about the upcoming talent exam. I really hope I get to become a sentinel,¡± Luna said as she stepped over a fallen log. ¡°I hope I can become a guardian,¡± rumbled Chad before he let out a rumbling chuckle. It seemed as if he didn¡¯t lose his simpleness, but he was only a little bit behind on his intelligence. Given his stature, nobody seemed to care about his lack of thoughtfulness though. The three were on their way towards the annual talent test having turned 18 this year. But first, they were having a stroll in the familiar forest not far from the orphanage. ¡°Who do you think will be placed the highest?¡± Luna wondered before Chad laughed again, shaking the loose ferns around them. ¡°Whoever gets the furthest in 10 minutes will be placed highest!¡± Chad challenged before dashing away into the forest. Luna let out a light giggle before chasing Chad into the forest. ¡°Hey,¡± Nemesis uttered before sighing and sprinting after them. After ten minutes, the three stood, panting in a large clearing. ¡±Haha! I win,¡± smiled Chad as he triumphantly raised his fists. ¡°That¡¯s not fair you big cheater! Who can beat you in physical prowess before having their talents awoken?¡± Luna shouted while laughing. Luna turned to Nemesis who nodded in agreement. ¡±Cheater,¡± Nemesis spoke before he looked around them. A sense of familiarity clouded him as he swept his eyes around the area. ¡°Have I been here before?¡± He whispered to himself before Luna snapped him out of his thoughts. ¡±We¡¯d better go. Wouldn¡¯t want to miss the test after all,¡± she said as Nemesis nodded. Taking one final look at the clearing, Nemesis turned and followed his friends heading back out the forest.
