《Saiyan in a Cultivation World》 Prologue - Tailed-baby in a Meteor Fang Shen sat in his study, slowly breathing while looking at his hands in a deep trance of sadness. His wife had just died while giving birth to their second child. His wife Xiao Yue had always had a weak constitution and couldn''t hold up very well under any kind of physical stress let alone childbirth. They thought she''d be fine after her previous time giving birth to their daughter had no problems at all. But for some reason, half-way through the birth, Xiao Yue suddenly died after spurting out a mouthful of blood. To make matters worse, the baby boy she was giving birth to died shortly after her as well. These two events had pressed Fang Shen to the very limits of his psyche and left him emotionally crippled. He just wished he had some way of knowing why it had happened, why his precious wife and newborn son had been taken from him. He raked his brain while he looked at his hands that had the blood of his wife on them, looking for anything to save himself from his sadness. As he was thinking this, he felt the air thrum as if something was flying toward him at a high speed. His sadness quickly disappeared, replaced by rage and vigilance. A mysterious energy flared around him and he flew upward and through the roof of his study and outside to look for whatever was daring to intrude him on his moments of grief. But his anger was quelled quite quickly as he saw what looked like a shiny meteor flying at the courtyard of the courtyard he lived in. He flew up and his energy flared even further and he braced himself for impact with the meteor. *BANG!* With a monumental bang, the metal sphere collided with his glowing hands and instantly stopped. Fang Shen looked at the metal thing in his hands and realized it had a red glass screen on its front. Looking into it, Fang Shen instantly widened his eyes, oddly enough tears started pouring out of his eyes as his lips started quivering. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "A baby...boy...? There''s a baby boy from the Heaven''s...sent to me...?" Fang Shen could barely get his words out as he slowly lowered himself to the ground. Upon getting to the ground he placed the sphere down while still looking at it and muttering about the Heavens. The sphere made a hissing noise and the absentminded Fang Shen continued to look at it as it slowly opened to show the boy inside without the red screen in between them. The boy had long, straight-yet-slightly-wild black hair which ran the length from his head all the way to the bottom of his feet and a bit past them. The boy looked a few months old but he was still a fairly big baby like he was built to withstand great weight even at his young age. The baby''s eyes slowly flickered open to show two eyes of pure and bright amber which shone with innocence, which thoroughly enthralled Fang Shen. But at the same time as the eyes shone with innocence, they shone with primal brutality and an instinctive ferocity. But Fang Shen didn''t mind this, in fact, he felt it was a good thing as, in the martial world, these two traits were good things to have you just needed to know how to use them and when to use them. Fang Shen walked up to the child and picked it up and found something completely odd. He had a tail. A long tail covered in pitch black fur. This caused Fang Shen to pause before he spoke aloud to himself and seemingly to the baby. "I care not that you don''t exactly look fully Human, you are a gift from the Heavens and I will treasure you," Fang Shen looked into the boy''s eyes and seemed to be thinking of something. The boy, on the other hand, was hitting his hands off of Fang Shen''s arms with low thuds. Feeling these thuds, Fang Shen couldn''t help but feel proud of his newly-adopted son. ''He surely has inborn divine strength! Even as a child his hits feel as strong as a normal adult without Qi!'' Nodding his head in satisfaction, Fang Shen seemed to have forgotten his previous emotionally devastated state and was instead fully focused on the tailed-boy in his hands. At this moment, he resolved himself to look after this boy as his own and to also raise him along with his daughter, Xiao Mei. "Hmmm...You look to have a strong body like a bear and fierce eyes like an animal, so I will name you Fang Xiong!" Fang Shen boisterously laughed as he threw the newly-named Fang Xiong into the air with joy. By this point, multiple people came out of their houses and into the Clan Courtyard to see their Patriarch throwing a baby up into the air and catching him before hugging him and seemingly trying to hide something. Fang Shen then got to explaining about how this child was from the Heavens and how he was adopting him in place of his late-newborn son. He then proceeded to disappear into thin air before rushing to show his 3-year-old daughter her little brother. Chapter 1 - Growing up In a small room, a weirdly muscular young boy sat with his leg crossed and his eyes closed in meditation. He was wearing a sleeveless black robe which only went down to just below his knees. The room he was in was filled with all sorts of incense and if you knew anything about incense, then you''d know all of these different kinds of incense were used for calming someone and keeping them mellow and the opposite of aggressive. Slowly, the boy breathed in the incense and then slowly he let it back out again. The boy was fairly tall for his age and with his muscles, he looked like someone in their early teenage years. His wild black hair lay across his shoulders and down onto his chest and back, reaching to his stomach on the front and his lower spine on the back. Suddenly the boy got up in frustration and kicked the wooden bed next to him. *Crash!* The wooden bed splintered and broke apart under the youth''s surprising strength. After he did this he stormed out of the room and into the courtyard. In the courtyard, the boy walked up to a few massive rocks before starting to punch them. Each hit shook the rocks and caused booms to echo out through the yard. He kept hitting until his skin split and blood came out, then he switched to kicking the rocks and did the same to his shins and feet. The boy could feel his unusual anger creeping up from within him, it was getting harder and harder to control it but he was distracted by a sweet voice behind him. "Xiong''er? What are you doing?" The voice sounded confused and slightly worried. The boy turned around his amber eyes looking at the ground. This was the tailed-boy Fang Shen found and named Fang Xiong and over 10 years had passed since that day. "Sister, I was...um..." Fang Xiong tried to speak but he truly didn''t have a reason other than he got angry over his limited progress in Qi Cultivation. Fang Xiong looked at his sister. Long black hair but completely straight unlike his, clear and gentle looking red eyes staring at him with her usual affectionate looks. She looked into his eyes before she was drawn to the blood dripping down his knuckles and onto the ground. "Xiong''er!" she rushed to him before she reached into the space around her and a bottle of cream appeared in her hands. She quickly but delicately applied the cream to his knuckles before reaching down to his shins and applying it there. To finish off she covered his hands and legs in bandages. "Brother, you can''t always get angry and hurt yourself like this," Xiao Mei looked at her brother with a stern expression but her voice betrayed her by sounding so worried and caring. Fang Xiong looked offended for a minute before quickly correcting himself and his expression became more mellow before he replied. "Sister...I can''t help it...I don''t make any progress in my cultivation no matter how hard I try. The only good thing about me is my natural strength...and I can''t stand my weakness anymore...!" Fang Xiong was almost growling at this point, he seemed thoroughly offended by his own weakness. Xiao Mei seemed to be used to his hatred of his own weakness and just walked up to him and hugged him. "Little brother, do not worry about your cultivation; Father and I will always be here to protect you no matter your strength," her voice was loving and calm but it didn''t stop the scowl that crawled over Fang Xiong''s face. "But I don''t want to do that! I don''t want to be the weak one! I don''t know why, but I just can''t bear the thought of being weak!" his sudden outburst seemed to shock Xiao Mei but her calm face stayed barely moved. But what she wasn''t expecting was for her brother to carry on, "You wouldn''t understand, Xiao Mei, we''re different in both our talent and what we are. So please leave me alone and annoy someone else," his voice was sharp and uncaring as he pushed past his shell-shocked sister. Fang Xiong was heading for his father''s study, he had to talk to him. Meanwhile, a single tear fell from his sister''s eyes. Her shocked face fell away replaced by a deep sadness and helplessness. This story originates from a different website. "I don''t know how to help you, Xiong''er, and I know you hate being protected but...but I''m still going to do it anyway, even if you end up hating me..." she wiped the single tear away and walked off to her room, set on protecting her beloved brother. Back with Fang Xiong, he was standing outside his father''s study, he could hear some talking so he didn''t barge in. He knocked twice and waited for the door to open. It didn''t take long for the talking to stop and for the door to open to reveal his father. His father was a tall man, about 190cm in height and with a slightly muscular build, he looked like a very imposing man. But the jovial smile on his handsome face took away from that feeling and made him feel like a nice person. His long black hair was tied into a ponytail behind his head, making himlook like some kind of scholar. "Ah! My son, how are you today?" Fang Shen pulled his son into a bear hug of sorts and squeezed him tight to the young boy''s embarrassment but by now he was used to his father''s intimacy. "I''m fine, father..." he tried to hide it but his annoyance from earlier appeared on his face and from the worried look on his father''s face, he definitely saw it. "What''s wrong, my boy? And don''t bother saying nothing, I''m your father and I understand when you''re telling me the truth or not," while gentle and caring, his father''s tone was quite stern and Fang Xiong knew he had no way out other than to tell the truth. "I''m sick of my weakness...I make no progress in Cultivation no matter how hard I try and to see Sister fly ahead of me...it hurts for some reason..." unlike with his sister, Fang Xiong was completely honest with his father. What he didn''t know was that it was his Saiyan biology not wanting to accept that someone was stronger than him and this was slowly developing into a complex. Seeing his sister get stronger should be a happy occasion and he did feel happy for her but this complex and his natural instincts wouldn''t allow him to express anything like happiness in someone else''s strength. Fang Shen looked lovingly at Fang Xiong and ruffled the boy''s wild hair, "Well, just keep trying, Xiong''er, I believe in you," his father''s everlasting confidence in him seemed to wash away his annoyance and anger, replacing it with gratitude and love. The lack of annoyance and anger made him instantly feel guilty for what he said to his sister. She only wanted to help him but he could only repay her by being aggressive and annoyed with her. His father seemed to see this regret but chose not to speak about it, it wasn''t the first time he''d shown regret like this and he guessed it was the same as the other times; about something he had said to his sister. He trusted that they''d both sort it out soon. From somewhere in the back of the room, a calm voice spoke out, "Ah, Brother-in-law, what''s this about my nephew struggling with Qi Cultivation?" from behind his father, Fang Xiong saw a shorter man walk to stand in front of him. While he was shorter, the man seemed much more threatening to Fang Xiong, something about the man''s aura was terrifying to the young boy. "Brother Long, Xiong''er doesn''t seem to have much talent for Qi Cultivation but I believe with enough effort he can achieve the power he wants," Fang Shen calmly said this as he spoke to this ''Brother Long'' person. Fang Xiong wasn''t exactly thrilled to be put under the light like this, especially when it was about how little talent he has. Brother Long looked at Fang Shen with a confused look before looking at Fang Xiong and taking in his appearance. "Why haven''t you brought in a teacher for Body Cultivation? Surely you can see the boy has the talent for it, right? Just look at the size of him! He''s what? 9? 10? And he already looks as if he''s 12 or 13!" Brother Long''s voice got more and more excited as he spoke but Fang Shen''s face got darker as time went on. "Please refrain from talking about that method, Brother Long, it''s much too dangerous!" Fang Shen''s voice boomed, surprising himself and Fang Xiong. Brother Long, however, seemed unperturbed as he continued to look at the boy in front of him before replying to Fang Shen''s outburst, "Calm down, Brother-in-law, I know you treasure him after what happened to sister--" a slap resounded in the room as Fang Xiong''s dad hit his brother-in-law. "Don''t you dare bring her into this!" his voice was cracking as he looked at Brother Long with red eyes. The person who was hit didn''t really react and just took the punch, which confused Fang Xiong. His instincts felt that this man was much stronger than his father and he couldn''t fathom why he''d let his father hit him. "Okay, that''s on me, brother-in-law, I shouldn''t have brought her up. But you shouldn''t hold him back because of your fear, should you? Do you understand what I''m getting at?" despite the blood running from his nose, Brother Long was still calm and collected. Fang Shen seemed to calm down and started to feel a slight bit of guilt for his actions and he averted his eyes from both his son and Brother Long. Meanwhile, Fang Xiong looked up at the two of them in confusement, obviously oblivious to whatever they were talking about as he was too young and didn''t know any of the context. Instead, he only understood that his father was holding out on him. "Father, what way is he talking about?!" Fang Xiong couldn''t help but shout as he thought about all the years he''d been so weak and his father didn''t tell him about another way. "Xiong''er...I''m sorry I didn''t tell you...but..." his father''s voice was cracking and his eyes were teary and close to crying. Brother Long put a hand on his father''s shoulder to console him before looking at Fang Xiong and speaking. "The method he talks about is indeed dangerous like he said, but I can tell that won''t deter you, nephew...The method he talks about is Body Cultivation or as some call it, Ki Cultivation," Brother Long''s voice seemed to spark something in Fang Xiong''s body; a want, no, a need for power. Chapter 2 - Ki Cultivation Fang Xiong looked at Brother Long, the need for power practically glowing off of his face. "I wish to learn this method despite the dangers," Fang Xiong''s voice was firm as he looked between Brother Long and his father. Fang Shen went to deter his son but Brother Long put his hand up to show he needn''t try. Fang Shen backed away and sat in his study chair, thinking. Brother Long brought Fang Xiong into the study and told him to sit in one of the seats next to him. Then they had a chat while Fang Xiong''s father thought about what to do. During this chat, Brother Long asked Fang Shen if he could check Fang Xiong''s physique out. Fang Shen reluctantly agreed to it but said it had to be a simple check over and not the complete ones he did in the army. Fang Xiong, confused, was made to stand up and while Brother Long placed his hands on his chest and inserted a mysterious energy into him. "What is this energy? Is it Qi?" never having progressed into Qi Cultivation, Fang Xiong had no idea what Qi itself felt like, so he could only guess this intangible energy was Qi. Brother Long quietly chuckled before answering the boy''s question. "Well, not quite. This is Ki, from the Body Cultivation System," Fang Xiong''s eyes widened in wonder as he looked down at Brother Long''s hands which were supplying the energy. Following the energy from the hands, Fang Xiong could feel it spreading throughout his entire body, from the top of his head to the tip of his toes. The energy felt calm, like the waves of the sea but Fang Xiong could feel it''s destructive potential almost instinctively. Nonetheless, no damage was done to his body as the calm energy sought out even the deepest nooks and crannies of his body. Getting used to feeling the energy and how it was manipulated, Fang Xiong took his eyes away from his own body and looked up to examine Brother Long some more. His hair was much more like Fang Xiong''s; Wild and Messy. It was brown in color and looked like it hadn''t seen a comb in forever as if lay around Brother Long''s head and shoulders like a disorganized bird''s nest. Fang Xiong needed to stifle his laughter as he''d never seen someone with messier hair than himself before, both his father and sister having very straight hair. He shook off his urge to laugh and looked at the man''s face. It was handsome but in a roguish kind of way and he had red eyes which proved to Fang Xiong that he was their uncle or more specifically Xiao Mei''s mother''s brother. Fang Xiong''s staring was interrupted as Brother Long''s eyes widened to an almost comical degree. "Brother-in-law, he really must be from the Heavens like you said!" he exclaimed loudly before laughing and carrying on, "Even before undergoing any kind of cultivation his entire body is much stronger than a normal person! Not just his muscles either, his bones, organs and bodily systems are all leagues ahead of a normal person!" Fang Xiong could''ve sworn he saw his father have a look of pride for a second before going back to his pondering and this inspired pride in Fang Xiong. If his father was proud of him, shouldn''t he be proud as well? As if seeing the pride building up in him, Brother Long spoke again, "But up against anyone above the 1st layer of the Houtian Realm, he''d get crushed." To this, Fang Xiong showed an annoyed expression, nearly snarling at the man in front of him. Brother Long chuckled at this before taking his hands off of Fang Xiong''s chest. The energy still in Fang Xiong''s body seemed to drift outward and out of his body. Apart from a small part which spread throughout his body and lay dormant within each and every cell. Nobody noticed this, however, not even Fang Xiong. "Well, I''ve got to say, brother-in-law I''d love to have him as my disciple, I don''t see myself finding anyone better than him," Brother Long sincerely looked at his brother-in-law and the two of them stared into each other''s eyes for a moment before Fang Shen smiled. "Fwww...You''ve got me. If he wishes to do it, you can teach him but I have a few conditions, okay?" Fang Shen looked at both Fang Xiong and Brother Long with an interrogating look on his face. Both Fang Xiong and Brother Long nodded like excited children and Fang Shen let out another sigh before continuing while looking at Brother Long, "You will train him on the premises and if you must take him off the premises to train I will come with you. Got it?" Brother Long nodded eagerly, not even seeing that as a condition that needed to be stated. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Fang Shen looked over to his son, "The only condition I have for you is that you don''t quit this. No matter how hard it gets or how much it hurts, you will continue to do this training. Am I clear?" his face was as strict as his voice as he looked at his son but underneath the stern face, there was worry. Worry that his son would give up all together after experiencing the training that goes along with Ki Cultivation and would waste away, hating his sister for wanting to protect him and hating himself for his own weakness. But apparently, this worry was unneeded. Fang Xiong smiled and nodded his head with an almost savage excitement and Fang Shen was reminded of when he first saw his son''s primal eyes. Fatherly affection filled Fang Shen''s heart and he felt slightly guilty for holding his son back all this time but shook the guilt off and decided he''d make up for it from now on by fully supporting his son''s Ki Cultivation and giving him what he needs to succeed. "Are there any more conditions, brother-in-law? Because if not, I want to get to starting the basics with Xiong''er," Brother Long seemed like a hyperactive child and could barely control himself as he thought about taking Fang Xiong as his disciple. Fang Shen resigned himself to what he''d unleashed and let out a jovial smile, "Sure, go ahead," he looked at Fang Xiong, "Now, Xiong''er, listen to your uncle and try your best at this, okay?" Fang Xiong nodded, just as excited as his uncle about the training. After saying goodbye, both Fang Xiong and his uncle walked out of his father''s study room and started walking to the courtyard Fang Xiong was in earlier. They were in complete silence along the way, whenever Fang Xiong tried to ask a question his uncle would tell him to wait until they reached the courtyard. Finally, they reached the courtyard and both of them sat next to the rocks in the middle of the yard. Fang Xiong''s uncle finally started speaking after a while of pondering, "Okay, so from now on call me Master Long or Master, well, you can call me Uncle if you really want to as well...But anyway! On to the actual teaching stuff..." Fang Xiong smiled as he felt that his Uncle was weirdly nervous about this whole thing. Moving on from his nervous behavior, Master Long started to speak again, "Ki Cultivation. The cultivation of the body and the energy that it produces. It''s very simple to practice, doesn''t require talent like Qi Cultivation, only hard work and it gives a person more strength in the layers than Qi Cultivation. So why is it barely used?" This question made Fang Xiong think for a while but he finally came up with an answer, "Earlier father said it''s dangerous so most people probably don''t want to risk getting hurt for power when they could give Qi Cultivation a go, right? And like regular exercise of the body, it might take a long time to get anything done, maybe? I don''t know anything other than the dangerous part..." hearing his nephew''s answer, Master Long raised his eyebrow slightly. "Well done, those are the two big reasons why people stay away from Ki Cultivation. That and the fact you need special foods and serums to really make haste in Ki Cultivation, both of which are quite expensive to most people," he paused for a moment before smirking, "Lucky for you, your family is quite rich and so am I, you loving uncle/master!" Fang Xiong had a deadpan expression as he looked at his uncle. The staring continued until his Master awkwardly carried on, "Umm, anyway, other than that, Ki Cultivation works pretty much the same way as Qi Cultivation. You use a special breathing technique to gather the energy and actually make your practice mean something and you have the same realms of cultivation e.g Houtian and Xiantian etc," he looked at Fang Xiong only to see that he was completely enthralled in the information about becoming stronger. His Uncle smiled and nodded in a satisfied manner, thinking about how this is how his disciple should be. "You''ve exercised before, haven''t you, Xiong''er?" hearing his Master''s question, Fang Xiong nodded his head, "Good, having a good foundation for a body is the key to starting off Ki Cultivation on a good foot." Knowing this, Fang Xiong was glad he had a constant urge to exercise his body, it was paying dividends now. "Okay, first off, we need to teach you a breathing technique which suits you," he paused before smiling, "I picked you not because of your overall potential in Ki Cultivation but also because of your affinity with my own breathing technique." Fang Xiong tilted his head to the side, looking at his Master in confusion. "Let me explain," he took a long breath, knowing he was about to speak a lot, "Each and every breathing technique was made by a specific person long ago, tailored for themselves and to benefit them the most. So, the more you have in common with the original creator of the technique, the more affinity you''ll have with their technique. This obstacle can be overcome by a few things, such as the overall power of the technique. For example, if the technique is powerful enough, someone who uses it, no matter their affinity, will become powerful," he paused for a second before joyfully adding, "Luckily for the both of us, my technique is not just well-fitted to me but it''s also incredibly powerful," the pride he spoke with seemed to resonate with Fang Xiong. "Master, please teach me the technique!" Fang Xiong could barely contain himself by this point, he wanted to get started on Cultivation as soon as possible to make up for lost time. Seeing his disciples excitement, Master Long nodded his head and smiled, "Okay, okay, calm down, let me get it out," he brought his hand to the air and grabbed at it, like Fang Xiong''s sister did earlier. Out of nowhere, an old and black book appeared in his hand and he flicked through it for a while before resting on one page near the start and passing it over to Fang Xiong who took it and treated it with care and respect you wouldn''t expect from a currently hyperactive 10-year-old. Fang Xiong put his thumb as a bookmark on the page and quickly took a look at the front of the book for its name. Heavenly Beast Method Was all it said in simple golden yellow writing but Fang Xiong felt something inside himself stir as he looked at it. He could really tell his affinity was high for this technique like his Uncle/Master said. Chapter 3 - Breathing Correctly, Walking Correctly and Sleeping Correctly Fang Xiong looked through the contents of the page his Master had opened up for him and absorb the knowledge like a dry sponge in a bowl of water. The page told him about how the Heavenly Beast Method focused on 3 basic principles: Breathing Correctly, Walking Correctly and Sleeping Correctly. Once you get a basic mastery in these three things, you can finally start the Ki Training. Looking at the methods to do this, Fang Xiong was incredibly confused and as if seeing his nephew''s confusion, Master Long laughed before talking, "Don''t worry, I''ll help you correct these things, only the master can know the method to improve these things, okay?" Fang Xiong just nodded his head, eager to do the training. "Alright then, we''ll start on the breathing part," Master Long stood up and motioned for Fang Xiong to get into a meditation position, "Close your eyes and start breathing when I tell you." Fang Xiong did as he was told and closed his eyes, waiting for the instructions on when to breath. He waited for a while, not breathing at all knowing he''d mess up his Master''s plan if he did so. It didn''t take until he was desperate for air, his cells shaking in anticipating for the breath he knew he''d take soon. But even as he felt his body begging for air, the order to breathe didn''t come. By this point, Fang Xiong was getting dizzy from the lack of oxygen. If it wasn''t for his unnatural pride, he would have said ''Fuck it'' to the training and taken in a massive breath of air to end his suffering. "Don''t breathe just yet, you need to push the need to breathe to the very limits before you can breathe," Master Long said in a scholarly manner as he looked at his nephew/disciple in front of him. He monitored Fang Xiong with hawk-like precision, checking for the very limit of the boy''s lung capacity. Fang Xiong''s face had started to go red and the veins on his body had started to bulge, while he uncomfortably shuffled his body back and forward. Fang Xiong opened his eyes at the moment and looked at Master Long, the capillaries in his eyes looking as if they were about to burst from the pressure building up in him. Master Long looked into Fang Xiong''s eyes and saw he was reaching his limit but he didn''t say anything as he knew the boy wasn''t truly there. Seconds seemed like hours to Fang Xiong, his lungs burning for oxygen. "Okay, breath," Fang Xiong felt like he''d heard the call of an angel and let out the spent air in his lungs as quickly as he could before taking in a gulp of air. The oxygen entered his lungs and his body seemed to have a weird reaction to the oxygen. The oxygen seemed to perfectly enter his blood and then his muscle and organs and seemed to do so with 100% efficiency and therefore no waste. "You can feel it, right?" Master Long looked at his disciple with expectant eyes but realized he barely explained anything, "You felt the oxygen enter your body and be used without waste, right?" Fang Xiong just nodded, still gulping down air. "Good. Now we''ve got to do it a few more times and then I''ll perform a special technique on you to make sure your body remembers this way of breathing," Master Long instructed Fang Xiong who widened his eyes in both annoyance and reluctance after what he just experienced. For the next 2 hours, Fang Xiong was forced through the same treatment breath after breath and his lung felt like they were constantly being lit on fire. Strangely enough, his body quickly adapted to this weird breathing method and the fire even started to feel slightly pleasant as if every breath pumped him full of stimulants. Seeing that he''d so quickly adapted, Master Long looked at the boy in wonder, "What a monster..." was all he whispered before he gathered himself and got Fang Xiong''s attention, "Okay, Xiong''er, I''m going to do what I did earlier and inject Ki into your body, okay? So just stay still and continue breathing like how you''ve been for the past few hours." Fang Xiong continued as he was and slowly took air into his lungs before waiting for it to burn and then releasing it all and repeating the process again and again. Master Long, however, walked behind Fang Xiong and gently placed his hands on his students back. He waited for Fang Xiong to start a new breath and when the boy did so, Master Long starting injecting his Ki into Fang Xiong''s back. The Ki entered smoothly through the skin and into the body before it slowly moved toward the lungs and diaphragm. It stayed there, nourishing these parts and encouraging something akin to muscle memory in them; to ensure that Fang Xiong would continue to breath ''correctly''. Fang Xiong on the other hand, barely felt anything other than the fire in his lungs getting more bearable. The whole process carried on for about 15 minutes before Master Long removed his hands and let out a slightly tired sigh, the process taking more out of him than he thought it would. Nonetheless, it all went without a hitch and he tapped Fang Xiong''s shoulder. Fang Xiong opened his eyes and barely felt the strain from breathing how he did now. It was as if he had always breathed in this way; it was a very peculiar feeling. His attention was taken away from his wonder about the way he breathed and was instead focused on his Uncle/Master pulling out a short wooden pole that was thinner at one end than the other. It looked particularly limber and flexible.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. "Okay, Xiong''er, let''s teach you how to walk correctly!" despite the enthusiasm he felt for training and getting stronger, Fang Xiong felt a bit worried about how enthusiastic his Uncle/Master was. 3 hours later~ Xiao Mei and her Father walked from the dining room to the courtyard where they could still hear the training Fang Xiong was undergoing. "Xiong''er, just walk properly! It''s not that hard!" a usually calm voice to both Xiao Mei and Fang Shen''s ears, was now almost screaming so loud it could be heard from quite a distance. Xiao Mei looked worriedly up at her father. Ever since she knew her brother had started to begin Ki Cultivation she couldn''t stop feeling worried for him and his safety; she knew how dangerous Ki Cultivation could be. "Old man, if you tell me to walk properly one more time and hit me with that stick again, I''m gonna shove it up your arse!" a slightly pained but mostly angry voice boomed back. If it weren''t for the natural-high pitched tone, it would''ve sounded very threatening. "Huh, Old man?! I''m not old! And plus, you''re not walking correctly!" a smack was heard, followed by a pained grunt, "Come on, Xiong''er, just do it how I do it!" the man''s voice was pleading and tired. Xiao Mei and her father arrived at the courtyard to see both Master Long and Fang Xiong walking in perfect sync back and forth in the yard, with no real difference between the two in how they both walked. Well, there was one difference; Fang Xiong''s legs were covered in bruises and his face was one of livid anger while Master Long had hardly been touched, he just looked tired. "If you haven''t seen already, I am walking like you, Old man," Fang Xiong looked like he wanted to launch himself at his Master but remembering the previous times he''d done so and the outcomes, he decided against it and just ignored his Master. Turning his head away from his Master to ignore him, Fang Xiong saw his sister and father standing there and watching him train. He could see the worry and slight anger of his sister as she looked at his bruised legs and he could see the pride in his father''s eyes along with the supportive love he showed earlier. Seeing these two, Fang Xiong felt a need to complete this annoying walking training. Not because he wanted strength to protect them but because he wanted strength to show them he wasn''t trash, that he could look after himself and stand as an equal to his powerful father and his genius big sister. But despite his need, he didn''t feel any change in how he felt when he walked similar to how he felt with the breathing method. His annoyance continued to build, threatening to boil over the edge and cause him to go berserk. He turned his head to Master Long and examined him with renewed fervor, looking at every single movement with stunning attention to detail. Fang Xiong took every single move he saw and implemented into his own walking. Whether it was because his annoyance pushed his focus higher and he found something in his Master''s moves because of it or because he''d just got lucky, Fang Xiong started to feel his entire body ache, like it was on fire. "That''s it, Xiong''er, feel the fire, let it burn, burn the movements into the very fibers of your being!" his Master almost screamed in joyous exclamation as he saw the veins bulge across Fang Xiong''s entire body. Xiao Mei looked in wonder at her brother. She saw the look in his eye when he looked at her and their father, she saw the need born because of them being there. It fully warmed her heart to think she was part of the reason he was willing to get beaten with a stick to get stronger. Little did she know it wasn''t exactly as she thought it was. Fang Xiong looked at his master and spoke through gritted teeth, "What do I do now? Do I just keep walking?" his voice was slightly strained, the same way you talk while lifting a heavy weight. "Yes, but while you do that, I must ''massage'' your body with this stick to make sure your body remembers the movements," Master Long spoke with a ''reluctance'' voice as he pulled out a stick similar to the first but instead it seemed incredibly firm and hard. Fang Xiong glared at his Master, praying that one day he could beat the crap out of him. In the end, he slightly nodded his head and the ''massage'' begun. The ''massage'' lasted 20 minutes and it consisted of beating, beating, and well, more beating. Fang Xiong was bruised all over and even moving caused a monumental amount of pain but the energy he currently felt flowing around his body was exhilarating. It wasn''t Ki or any type of mystical energy, it was pure vitality, slowly nourishing the body and the things in it. Fang Xiong didn''t know this, however, he just knew it would help him in his Ki Cultivation. His Master came up behind him and placed a hand tentatively on his shoulder, "Sorry about that, Xiong''er, you can take a rest now, I can complete the rest of your training on my own," Fang Xiong looked up at his Master before his vision went blurry and he collapsed into his Master''s arms. Fang Xiong collapsing caused Xiao Mei to cry out in shock before rushing over with shocking speed. But Fang Shen rushed in front of her and stopped her, "It''s the next part of the training, he''s alright, your uncle just put him to sleep." "But..." she went to argue but a stern look from her father shot that option down. "Brother Long, I hope you can do the last bit of the training here so Xiao Mei isn''t worried anymore, is that alright?" he spoke as if this as purely for his daughter but his slightly worried expression betrayed him and showed that he too was a bit worried. Master Long just nodded his head and lay Fang Xiong on the floor. As he lay on the floor, Fang Xiong''s limbs were put in all sorts of directions before Master Long poked some spots on the limbs before changing the direction and placement of the limb and doing the same thing again and again. It took about 10 minutes and by now Master Long was poking Fang Xiong''s head and his chest at high speeds. Weirdly, all of the bruises on Fang Xiong''s body had disappeared, whether this was because of his natural healing ability, the weird massage from Master Long or both, no one but Master Long knew. Slowly, the speed at which Master Long poked Fang Xiong decreased and decreased until he stopped poking him altogether. He grabbed at the air and pulled out a pill bottle. The bottle was black and had some golden yellow runes on it. He took out three pills and placed them in Fang Xiong''s mouth before making him swallow them. After this, he picked the boy up and asked Fang Shen were his son''s room was. It didn''t take long for them to get there and Master Long lay him on the bed, "Okay, us three should leave him alone for a while. He''ll come and find us when he wakes," Master Long said this in a weirdly stern way as if he were afraid these two would accidentally mess up his disciple''s foundation building for Ki Cultivation. Reluctantly, the two of them followed Master Long out of the room. Fang Xiong just lay there, not moving like a statue. Chapter 4 - Dreaming, Waking Up and the Start of Training Fang Xiong was currently in his bed, his robe had been removed by his father before he left and in its place were some simple underpants. They seemed to be specially made as they had a weirdly placed hole on the upper half of the back of the underpants but the hole had its purposes. Coming out of the hole was a black-furred tail which was slowly wiggling back and forth like some kind of dancing snake. Fang Xiong himself was mumbling things in his sleep and he would twitch every now and again. Obviously, he was having a very vivid dream. Inside his head at the moment, he was currently floating about in a dark place but ever so slowly it was getting lighter and lighter and its appearance was showing itself. Finally, after what felt like forever for Fang Xiong, the void showed itself for what it truly was; a massive tropical forest. As he realized where he was standing, Fang Xiong felt his heart strongly beat in his chest. Not from fear, obviously, but from pure excitement. It felt like he was home here like he could finally let loose on some of his baser instincts. He slowly walked between the trees, feeling the vegetation underneath his feet and the clear air going into his lungs. Suddenly, Fang Xiong heard some noise and being in a good mood, decided to check it out. He ran as fast as he could toward where he heard the noise, his keen senses leading the way and before he knew it he arrived at the origin of the noise. What he saw surprised him. It was two people, a man who had black wild and spiky hair which seemed to defy gravity, a rugged but handsome face with hard black eyes which seemed full of pride. The man was incredibly muscular and tall and had tan skin with multiple scars spread throughout his body. But what caught Fang Xiong''s attention completely was the tail sticking out from the man''s lower back. Shock rippled from throughout Fang Xiong''s body. Ever since he was born, his father had told him he was unlike other children or even humans in general and that''s why he had to hide his tail. But right now he was seeing a man with a tail just like his. It was slightly thicker and the fur covering it was much wilder but it was the same kind of tail. Dragging his eyes away from the man, Fang Xiong looked at the person next to the tall man. A woman. Not too much shorter than the man, the woman looked like she was incredibly athletic but not like the man, more like a gymnast or a dancer compared to the man who looked like a massive bodybuilder. She had black hair like the man but it was much more like Fang Xiong''s; long and straight. She had pale skin which was covered in scars just like the man''s body but they did not take away from her beauty, for Fang Xiong at least. Her face, while quite sharp looking, was still soft in the right places to class it as feminine and both these sharp and soft features came together to make a unique kind of beauty. Unlike the man, however, she had no tail which caused some disappointment in Fang Xiong''s heart; he thought that he''d found more people like himself. This disappointment was taken away when he saw the woman''s eyes; bright, near luminescent, amber just like his own eyes. While he had seen different colored eyes in his time living, he''d only seen 3 different kinds; Black eyes like his father''s, red eyes like his sister''s and uncle''s and blue eyes from one of the maids who''s employed by his family. Because of his father''s overprotective nature, he hadn''t been outside much either so he hadn''t had the chance to see anyone with bright amber eyes like himself. As Fang Xiong was thinking this, the big man turned to him catching him off guard and causing him to jump back into a crude combat stance. This caused a small smile of pride to well upon the man''s face, "You truly have Saiyan blood in you..." "Fwahhh!" Fang Xiong opened his eyes and shot up in his bed, covered in sweat. He heard a small yelp and looked over at the doorway to see his sister holding a tray with multiple dishes of food on it. "Ah...brother, I hope I didn''t disturb you I...I''ll leave after I put this down..." she walked up to his bed and put the tray on the bedside table, she looked a bit anxious as she did so. When she went to leave, Fang Xiong grabbed her wrist, eliciting another small yelp. "Sister...about what I said after you healed me...I''m sorry, it''s just sometimes, sometimes I can''t control my anger very well..." Fang Xiong sincerely said this as he averted his eyes, a part of him feeling disgusted by his apology and emotion while another part of him felt a weight come from his shoulders. Xiao Mei shook as she heard his apology, she knew full well how hard it was to get Fang Xiong to apology to anyone so whenever he does apologize it''s something incredibly special. Warmth filled her soft red eyes as she looked at her brother, her earlier resolve strengthened to even higher heights than before. "Mhm, it''s okay Xiong''er!" she beamed a smile that seemed to light up the room and even with his eyes averted, Fang Xiong still had to admit he had a beautiful sister. Moving past that exchange which was ever-so-hard for Fang Xiong, he started to devour the food on the tray in front of him while his sister sat at the end of his bed watching him.The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. While he ate, he and Xiao Mei spoke about how long he''d been out and it turned out a full day had passed and that''s why he had so much food on the tray; because he missed lunch and dinner yesterday. After informing him of this, Xiao Mei jumped up from his bed, surprising her brother a bit before saying she had to go inform their uncle that he was awake. Thinking about his training yesterday, Fang Xiong was excited to see if he could start training today. After Xiao Mei left it didn''t take long for Master Long to come back and take her place, "So, my disciple, how was your sleep?" Fang Xiong thought about telling him about the dream but in the end, decided not to as even he wasn''t too sure about what it all meant. "It was refreshing, seemed to heal me from all those bruises you put on my body, Old man," Fang Xiong dismissively spoke as he continued to shovel food down his gullet. A small vein appeared on Master Long''s forehead but he suppressed himself and spoke in a calm voice, "Ah, that''s good. Well, we better get started on cultivation after you''ve eaten the rest of that," he paused for a minute, looking at the amount of food left and the amount of food that had already been eaten, "Which I have to admit, I''ve never seen someone so young eat so much before." Fang Xiong shrugged and mumbled something about how he''s always been like this. Master Long secretly laughed at his brother-in-law''s expense as after the training he was going to put Fang Xiong through, their food bill was going to go through the roof. Not knowing his Master''s ''diabolical'' plan, Fang Xiong quickly finished off the rest of the food before getting out of bed and getting dressed in a pair of baggy shorts which he pulled up just high enough to hide the tail wrapped around his hip/waist area. After that, they set off to the same private courtyard for Fang Xiong, Xiao Mei, and their Father. No conversation was really spoken between the two, they knew they had things to talk about when the entered the courtyard and until then nothing really needed to be said. Luckily for them, it didn''t take too long to get there. "Alright then, Xiong''er, sit down while I explain what your training yesterday did and what you''re going to be doing now and for the foreseeable future until you official start Cultivating," Master Long spoke in an almost casual way but Fang Xiong could tell that he was incredibly serious under the carefree facade, "But what I''m about to tell you can''t be told to anyone, even Xiao Mei and your father, okay?" Fang Xiong nodded, understanding that his Master didn''t want the secrets of his Breathing Technique to be spread around. Seeing his disciples expression of understanding, he let out a breath relief and leaned in and whispered to Fang Xiong, "What you did yesterday was start your body on a path of withstanding extremes. I noticed you had such affinity for this Method because your body seems to incredibly adaptable to almost any condition whether it be gravity, temperature, and lack of oxygen; you excel in adapting to all of them." Fang Xiong looked up at his Master and felt an odd spark of excitement grow in his heart. The thought of breaking past extreme limits thoroughly excited him, down to the very fibers of his body. Seeing the flame of excitement in Fang Xiong''s eyes and the slight tug of a grin on his face, Master Long chuckled before continuing, "And to withstand and ascend past an extreme, you must have as much energy as you can possibly muster. Those exercise that we did yesterday were to make it so you didn''t waste any excess energy on those activities," he paused to see if Fang Xiong was still with him before continuing, "You see, no matter what people do, they waste energy, Vital Energy as we Ki Cultivators call it, and this energy is what we convert to Ki by exercising our bodies and using it as a medium or catalyst. But the problem with Vital Energy is that you waste it all the time by, for example, Walking Incorrectly, Breathing Incorrectly and Sleeping Incorrectly but when you fix those things, you barely exude any wasteful energy at all. If you don''t understand me, think of it like this; You felt much more vigorous than usual when you woke up today, didn''t you?" Now that he thought about it, Fang Xiong did have to admit that he felt like his stamina and energy were both inexhaustible ever since he awoke from the sleep his Master so-annoyingly put him in. Seeing the look of acknowledgment on Fang Xiong''s face, Master Long continued again, "That is because of you retaining energy you would''ve wasted by breathing wrongly while you slept and you would''ve been sleeping wrongly as well, so imagine the loss of energy? But nevermind that, after the training yesterday you don''t have to worry about being wasteful ever again but that''s not to say you waste no energy, there are higher levels to what you''ve achieved--" He stopped himself from speaking before switching the subject, "Anyway nevermind that, that''s for the future, not now." Master Long grabbed at the air and pulled out some mysterious metal blocks attached to what looked like arm guards, shin guards and a vest, "These are training weights. I''ve had these special ones for a long time, waiting to find a worthy disciple to use them on and now that I''ve found you, I''ll give you the honor of using them," he laughingly said as he placed the weighted clothes on the floor in front of Fang Xiong, "Go on, what are you waiting for, put them on, Xiong''er." Fang Xiong did what was needed and slid the clothes on. The first thing he noticed was the weight; it was slightly crushing even with his preternatural strength. He cast an annoyed glance at his Master as if asking him why he didn''t tell him about how heavy they were before he put them on. Master Long, as if he saw the annoyed question in his eyes'', answered Fang Xiong''s mental question, "These are made of a special metal, I don''t know how they specifically work but I do know that the weight changes depending on the user and probably by scanning the strength of the body and changing its weight," the possibilities of what this meant ran through Fang Xiong''s head causing him to become incredibly exhilarated but as if he saw what Fang Xiong thought, Master Long, interrupted his disciples joyous moment, "But there is a limit, such as when you reach the peak of the Houtian Realm the weight won''t increase any further, so don''t think you can constantly keep training with these because you can''t." To this bit of information, Fang Xiong felt a bit down but soon rose up again after he thought that he''d already got something perfect for the Houtian Realm, he''d have to worry about the realms after that when he gets to them. "Okay, can you move in the weights? Do a few jumps and stretches so I can see the limits of your movement with them on," Master Long took a few steps back before motioning for Fang Xiong to do what he asked. He did a few jumps which seemed incredibly high, especially with the weights he has on, and did some stretches showing he had a wide range of movement even with the weights on. But even if he could still move with the weights on, that didn''t mean they didn''t take a toll on his stamina. Feeling the slightest bit of perspiration on his body, Fang Xiong reevaluated his ''inexhaustible'' stamina and energy from earlier but he stubbornly persisted and continue to stand straight even with the crushing weight of the clothes on him. "Great, now let''s get down to your training, don''t let me down, disciple!" Chapter 5 - Finally Breaking Through into Cultivation The past few months had been both exhilarating and exhausting in equal amounts for Fang Xiong. His daily workout routine was 1000 push-ups, 1000 sit-ups, 1000 pull-ups, 1000 squats, and a 30km run before finally having to do an hour on combat training with his spartan-esque Master. The reason he was doing such basic exercise was because he needed to be in the Houtian Realm before he could even start to practice any of the Heavenly Beast Method. And even then, the weights made these basic exercises near-lethal. No matter how his strength improved, the magic weights would adjust themselves and get heavier, so the basic regiment, for him at least, became incredibly exhausted after every day. But nevermind the problem because the gains were much higher. Because of his unique biology, Fang Xiong gained more strength every day, at faster and faster rates, like his body refused to lose to the weight of some magical, slightly sentient, metal. His strength before all the training was 500kg, about 10x his own weight which was around 50kg. But after all this training, he''d improved up to 1500kg of body strength and this was only with 2 and a half months. Even his Master was completely shocked by this. He knew his disciple''s body adapted well, but he didn''t think it was to such an absurd degree. Currently, Fang Xiong was eating some special dishes prepared by his Master. Each dish was full of Vital Energy and was the other reason to why he didn''t collapse under the intensity of his training in the past months. "I''m proud of you, Xiong''er. You''ve gone above and beyond my expectations during this training," Master Long let out a carefree laugh as he ruffled Fang Xiong''s hair. Fang Xiong didn''t mind this kind of treatment from his Master anymore, the past 2 months had deepened the bond between them and Fang Xiong was forever grateful of the power his Master had made possible for him to achieve. "But more importantly, I have some news to tell you," Master Long paused to build up the suspense and get ahold of Fang Xiong''s attention. It worked as Fang Xiong gulped down the rest of the food in his mouth and looked up at his standing Master, "What do you need to tell me, Old man?" while two months earlier, Fang Xiong would''ve said this in a rude way, the way he said it now was nothing but respectful and even when he said ''Old man'' it was an affectionate term. "The news is that you''re ready," he beamed a mysterious smile at Fang Xiong, obviously waiting for him to impatiently reply. He didn''t have to wait long. "Stop playing around, just tell me, Old man!" Fang Xiong huffed as he threw an impatient glance at his Master. Master Long put his hands up in surrender and pulled out a bowl, a ceremonial knife, a bottle of medical cream and a pill from his Spatial Ring. "Okay, okay, just pass me your hand, Xiong''er, I need some of your blood for the Ceremony," Fang Xiong, trusting his Master, gave him his hand. Master Long quickly sliced it with the ceremonial knife and bloody swiftly spurted out and dripped from the boy''s hand and into the bowl. Fang Xiong barely flinched as the knife cut his hand, knowing the pain would only be temporary. After enough of the bowl was filled up, Master Long picked up the bottle of cream and spread a gallop of it over his students hand with care, an uneasy look in his eyes signifying that he truly disliked hurting his disciple. "Now, Xiong''er, eat this," he passed him the pill and Fang Xiong took a deep look at it. It was black with golden lines seemingly etched into it and it gave off a weird aura but Fang Xiong did as he was told and ate it. The pill melted in his mouth and turned into a viscous liquid which crawled down his throat and into his stomach where it reacted quite violently. It spewed out energy into Fang Xiong''s body, ripping at everything in it. But amidst the pain which had blackened his vision, Fang Xiong felt a calm energy enter his chest from the outside. Despite his vision being practically gone, his hearing was fine, "Xiong''er, I know you''re hurting but you have to withstand this otherwise you will never amount to anything in the world of Cultivation! Fight the pain, push through it and rise above it! Pain will never control you, my disciple, never!" hearing the voice, Fang Xiong obviously knew the cool feeling in his chest was his Master injecting Ki into him to help. But what he said seemed to resonate with both Fang Xiong and the raging energy from the pill. Fang Xiong steeled himself, his uncle was right. He had to push through the pain and rise above it, he could not allow the pain to hold him down from achieving the power he so desperately needed and it would never control him. So he fought against the pain and completely steeled himself. The raging energy, however, seemed to have different plans as it got more and more ferocious but the calming energy directed it''s ferocious attacks away from anything deemed lethal and made it focus on the cells in Fang Xiong''s body. Each cell was packed full of Vital Energy, so much so that each cell looked like it was ready to burst. The violent energy seemed oddly tentative to these cells and instead of attacking them, it seemed to cover each and every cell and started to change them. If every cell could receive Vital Energy, like it had an entrance, and it could slowly exude this Vital Energy into the body through an exit in the cell, then the middle of the cell was pretty much a storage container. The raging energy from the pill was focusing on this ''storage'' part of the cell. Slowly, the Vital Energy that was in the cell started to be changed by the cell itself. It was compressed and the impurities were expelled as best they could be and the colorless Vital Energy came out the exit of the cell as a golden yellow energy; Ki. This new energy was a qualitative step-up from Vital Energy but because of that, it couldn''t be stored in the cells anymore as it would rip them apart if it forced it''s way inside and stayed there. But his Master''s Ki came to the rescue once again. Now that he had Ki, Fang Xiong could clearly look into himself and could see a vast Lion shaped Ki structure guiding his meager amounts of Ki along some invisible veins in his body. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. Fang Xiong remembered his Master telling him about these veins, they were called Ki Veins. He could remember what his Master said about them. "Xiong''er, inside your body, you have invisible veins that allow for the travel of Ki, they''re called Ki Veins, as you''d expect. These veins are what connect your body, or in this case the converter of Ki Energy, to the place that stores your Ki, the Middle Dantian," his master paused before pulling out a diagram of the human body and pointing at where the diaphragm was, "The Middle Dantian is there." He then went on to explain the different Dantians used depending on your Cultivation System. Ki Cultivators like them used the Middle Dantian but Qi Cultivators used the Lower Dantian which was around the naval area of the stomach and Spiritual Users used the Upper Dantian found in a person''s head. Master Long didn''t go into any detail about Spiritual Users, calling them cowards in a low voice before telling Fang Xiong to get back to training. Back in present time, all of the Vital Energy stored in all of Fang Xiong''s cells had been converted to a small-ish ball of Ki in his Dantian. As the Ki Lion was strutting around the ball, seeming to protect it, Fang Xiong heard his uncle speak, "Xiong''er, I''m going to let the ball of Ki go now, you''re going to have to let it flow throughout your body and allow it to bring you into the Houtian Realm. Just relax, Xiong''er..." his Master''s voice was calm and that told Xiong''er everything was going to plan, so he heeded his Master''s advice and relaxed his body. The Ki Lion dissipated and the collected ball of Ki in Fang Xiong''s Dantian started to burst outward and back into his Ki Veins. Every bit of Fang Xiong''s body the energy touched seemed to be enhanced incredibly. The muscles were strengthed and made slightly more compact, the bones were made harder and more durable, his organs and most of his body was washed clean of whatever impurities were on the surface. Everything was nourished as the Ki washed through the body. Suddenly, Fang Xiong felt a crack ripple throughout his body and then suddenly his Ki returned to his Dantian but slightly bigger and a little bit more pure. Slowly, Fang Xiong opened his eyes and excitedly stood up. He''d taken the weights off before they started so he could fully feel his strength at the moment; he felt unstoppable. He stood there and simply flexed his muscles and stretched his body causing satisfying cracks and pops to echo out from him. Out of nowhere, he felt a massive slapping sound of a hand on his shoulder, "Well done, my son!" Fang Xiong turned to see his father looking down at him with a brilliant smile on his face. Fang Shen looked at his son, who''d finally set on the road of Cultivation as he''d always wanted, with tears welling up in his eyes. Seeing the pride in his father''s smile and the emotional tears in his eyes, Fang Xiong finally felt it settle in; He''d started on the road to becoming powerful like he wanted. He couldn''t help but feel tears well up in his eyes and pour down his face, making his delighted smile look odd. Part of him despised the show of emotion but another part welcomed it as normal for the situation and placated the side that hated such things. His father saw the joyous tears on his son''s face and quickly pulled him into a tight bear hug, "I''m so proud of you, Xiong''er, you stuck with the training through it all. Carry on and one day you''ll stand next to me as an equal!" Fang Xiong widened his eyes in shock as his head was buried in his father''s chest, he couldn''t understand how his father knew his goal. As if feeling the shock of his son, Fang Shen let out a boisterous laugh, "Haha! My son, how could I not know your goals?!" he continued to laugh before putting Fang Xiong at an arms length and kneeling down to speak to him, "You and Xiao Mei are the most precious things in my life, of course, I''d make it my goal to know your own goals," after he said this he ruffled Fang Xiong''s hair again before stepping away from him, only for someone else to take his place. "You did it, brother!" a lithe figure threw herself at Fang Xiong, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly, "I''m so proud of you, now we can both work to protect one another!" Fang Xiong could tell it was Xiao Mei and put his arms around her to give his assent to her remark, "Mhm," was all he said but it seemed to be enough for Xiao Mei as she backed away skipping, practically on cloud nine. "Just like them, I''m proud of you as well, my disciple," Master Long got Fang Xiong into a headlock before he ruffled up the boy''s hair in a quick manner, "But you can''t let this get to your head, okay? There are always people stronger than you in the world, so always work as hard as you can to get stronger, got it?" Fang Xiong, already knowing this simply nodded his head with fervor. Master Long gave a look to Fang Shen and Xiao Mei which said he wanted to talk to Fang Xiong in private. Both of them saw the look and backed away after saying goodbye to Fang Xiong. Fang Xiong also saw the look, so he stood opposite his Master and looked at him. Master Long looked at Fang Xiong with smiling eyes, full of expectations and pride, "My disciple, Xiong''er, like I said before don''t get too prideful. It''s good to be confident in your own abilities but to be overly-so, is a big no-no," he walked up to Fang Xiong and put his hand on the boy''s shoulder, "I wanted to talk to you because after a few more days of training I have to leave and I''m taking your sister with me to drop her off at an Academy." This revelation caused shock to ripple throughout Fang Xiong''s body, a feeling of loss pervading his entire body, like a hole he didn''t know he needed full had now been emptied completely. "W-what? Why are you leaving and why is sister going to an academy?!" his voice cracked as he tried to sound angry but the saddened downward drag on his lips betrayed his facade. Master Long squeezed the boy''s shoulder before replying in a soft voice, "Because I have to get back to the Army, your Master''s a pretty big deal there so I can''t be away for too long. Two and a half months is already pushing it a little bit," he paused for a nervous laugh, "And your sister is a genius in Qi Cultivation, just like how you are in Ki Cultivation, and she can''t be limited by staying here, she has to get out and see the world, Xiong''er." Fang Xiong understood the reasoning with the usual part that hated emotions telling him she had the right to gain more strength if she wanted and the usually calm side of himself that allowed emotion, felt like being selfish and denying her, her right to gain strength. Fang Xiong felt incredibly conflicted. Seeing this conflict in his disciple, Master Long consoled him, "Do not worry, Xiong''er, in three years you''ll be able to go there and meet her again, and she can come back to visit once every year, so don''t worry but more importantly," Master Long''s voice got incredibly serious, "Take these three years to thoroughly transform, to become strong enough to stand equal to her and prove yourself." What he said shook Fang Xiong out of his conflicted state, with both sides of him agreeing that this is what he should do, no, what he needed to do. "Also, remember, Xiong''er, when you go to this Academy in 3 years time, you''re sister will most likely have a reputation, it''s your job to make sure you don''t sully that reputation," Fang Xiong was shook again. He knew his Master was right, he genuinely couldn''t possibly bear to think of damaging his sister''s pride. He needed strength to avoid this and he would gain it in the 3 years to come. "Also remember you can''t do anything to bring down my pride or even your father''s do you understand?" Master Long didn''t care about these things and he doubted that Xiao Mei or Fang Shen would either but from the months he''d spent with his nephew/disciple, he knew for a fact that Fang Xiong held these types of things in high regard. So he only said these things to appeal to that side of Fang Xiong to push him to get stronger. Fang Xiong looked up at his Master and felt like the weights he trained with were on his body again, he never realized he cared this much for his family until right at this moment. He would never be the weak point people could exploit to get to them, "I understand, Master," Master Long was shocked by his seriousness as shown by him not calling him ''Old man'' but hid the shock and nodded his head in satisfaction. "Good, now let''s go get some food, Xiong''er." With that, both of them walked to the kitchen to go pillage it of all its supplies. Chapter 6 - Affinity It didn''t take them long to get to the kitchen and prepare themselves some food. Xiao Mei and Fang Shen turned up shortly after them as well, so they all sat down and decided to have an early lunch. Fang Xiong and Master Long had plate after plate of food as if they were both insatiable beasts, while Xiao Mei and Fang Shen had a plate of two of food before feeling full. Fang Xiong looked over at his Master and felt some comradery over their food situations. Master Long had to eat a lot to keep his Ki Cultivator body alive, so to someone like Fang Xiong who ate more than normal people and felt weird because of it, Master Long was a welcomed addition to Fang Xiong''s young mind. Nonetheless, he never felt embarrassed about his eating, just that he was the odd one out all the time. Xiao Mei watched her brother eat with a happy yet sad smile on her face. She knew this was one of the last times she''d see her brother happily eating, for a while anyway, but something inside her told her that when she got to the academy she should stay there and focus on Cultivation; to become stronger for her brother and father. She knew they would both be saddened by this decision but she knew their father would understand it and Fang Xiong would come to accept it as her wanting to simply gain more power but... Knowing they would accept it didn''t make it the decision any easier to make. Fang Shen looked between his gluttonous son and his gentle daughter and couldn''t help but think he had two wonderful children. Both prodigies in their own ways, he just hoped he did enough for them as a father. Focusing in on Fang Xiong, he thought about when he would show his son the ''meteor'' he came in. But as soon as the thought came up, Fang Shen snuffed it out, convincing himself that he would wait until before Fang Xiong went to an academy to show him his origins. . . . They had all finished their lunch and all went their separate ways. Xiao Mei going to the library of the clan estate, Fang Shen going back to his study to read a few books himself and Master Long and Fang Xiong going back to the courtyard. Along the way, Fang Xiong seemed to remember something and looked up at Master Long, "Old man, why''d you take some of my blood before I broke through?" he tried not to sound suspicious of his Master''s motives but it naturally just came out like this anyway. Knowing how he had sounded, he instantly went to apologize but was stopped by his Master''s deep laughter. "No, no, don''t worry, you''re right to suspect someone who randomly takes your blood, even me, your Master," he put a hand on Fang Xiong''s shoulder, patting it, "I did it because we need to know which page of the book you have the most affinity with," his voice was purposely vague and despite Fang Xiong''s confused expression, he didn''t elaborate at all. Fang Xiong could only huff in annoyance and wait for when they reached the courtyard for his Master to answer him. Luckily for the eternally impatient Fang Xiong, the distance between the dining room and the courtyard was negligible, so they arrived there quite quickly. "Sit down, Xiong''er, I''ll tell you what I meant just now," like always, Fang Xiong sat down so his Master could lecture him. Master Long composed himself before bringing out the bowl with blood in it from earlier and also the book for the Heavenly Beast Method, "You probably saw it when I was guiding your key earlier but my affinity with this books lies with the Lion," he opened the book to a certain page and showed Fang Xiong. Oddly enough, there was nothing on the page, "But you can''t see that, because your affinity hasn''t been fully awoken," he flicked through a few other pages which also showed him nothing but blank paper. Fang Xiong started to understand what his Master was talking about. He didn''t have an affinity with any of the animals in the book yet so he couldn''t see any of their pages and he didn''t have any affinity because his was still dormant and unawakened. So the blood must be because... Cutting him off from his thinking, Master Long spoke while pointing at Fang Xiong, "To awaken your affinity, or more accurately to find out what your affinity is, you will need to pour your Ki into your blood," he pointed to the bowl, "And then pour it over the affinity page at the back of the book," he flipped all the way to the back page which seemed to shimmer as Fang Xiong looked at it. "So, how do I pour my Ki into the blood?" Fang Xiong looked at his Master with a lost look on his face. Master Long laughed before giving him some pointers, "It''s not particularly hard, you just need to either put your finger or your whole hand into the blood in the bowl and then grasp the Ki in your Dantian before pulling it to your hand and imbuing the blood with it." Fang Xiong looked suspicious that it would be that easy but did as he was told and put his index finger into the blood before closing his eyes and going back to where he remembered his Dantian was.If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. He found that it surprisingly easy to find and saw the familiar ball of golden energy from earlier, slowly exuding nourishing rays of energy onto his body fueling its growth. Thinking that finding it was just as easy as his Master said he tried to mentally grab at it. Sadly, he failed and instead sent a ripple throughout the body of the energy ball. Grunting in annoyance, Fang Xiong tried a few more times to brute force the Ki to follow him but in the end, a part of him calmed him down and told him to try a different approach. He thought about what Ki was like and how he would have to be to handle it. He wasn''t too good at being precise, his fighting style being ''use brute force'' all the time, so when he went to control his Ki he pretty much instinctively used the same way as his fighting style. But now that he thought about it, he was being incredibly stupid. Ki was calm and collected, so wouldn''t it make sense to calmly lead the energy instead of aggressively pulling it? Knowing he was onto something, Fang Xiong mentally willed for there to be a small suction force in front of a part of the Ki Ball. At first, the suction was too weak and it didn''t move the Ki at all and then it was too strong and it moved the entire Ki Ball. Fang Xiong wanted to through a fit of anger at this but he kept himself calm and suppressed his anger. He thought for what seemed a while before he came up with the same idea but slightly different. He placed a covering over the entirety of the Ki Ball in the way of a small film of something akin to mental force. The mental force kept the ball in place and would stop it from moving while Fang Xiong used the suction force to move the Ki along. Sweating buckets because of the concentration he was currently having to employ, Fang Xiong willed a small hole in the shell surrounding the Ki Ball before starting up the suction in front of the opening. To Fang Xiong''s immediate joy, a steady stream of yellow Ki was flowing from the ball to where he put the suction force. Knowing he was in business, Fang Xiong pulled the suction force along the way to his finger and led the Ki there. It took little time, to Fang Xiong''s joy, before he had a steady stream of Ki constantly heading to his finger. Now all he had to do was push it out of his finger and into the blood. Luckily, it was much easier than actually controlling the Ki itself. All he had to do this time was will it to exit the tip of his finger and it did before slowly wafting into the blood and infusing itself with it. Fang Xiong groggily opened his eyes, surprised by the exhaustion he was feeling. Master Long simply threw a pill into his mouth without him even having time to vocalize his exhaustion. The pill turned into liquid and feel down his throat before hitting his stomach. Fang Xiong flinched, thinking this pill would be like the one from before but instead of a raging energy coming from his stomach, a calm energy raced all the way up to Fang Xiong''s Dantian and then to his head, seeming to refill the energy in both of them. Fang Xiong instantly felt better and more energetic. "Okay, now all we have to do is pour this into the affinity page. Well, good luck, Xiong''er," Master Long slapped him on the shoulder before picking up the bowl and pouring its contents onto the shimmering page. As soon as the blood hit the paper, it let out a near blinding ray of gold and black light as it slowly floated into the air while the pages flicked back and forth with incredible speed. Fang Xiong tried to jump backward but a strong hand kept him still, "Don''t worry, Xiong''er, this is meant to happen," hearing his Master''s calm voice, Fang Xiong stayed still and just looked through squinted eyes at the shiny book floating in front of him. As time passed by, Fang Xiong noticed that the pages were getting slower and slower at flicking back and forth and it was also flicking between the same pages each time. A minute passed and it was flicking between two specific pages before it suddenly stopped on one page and fell onto Fang Xiong''s lap. Master Long quickly looked intently at Fang Xiong and Fang Xiong looked at his Master, "What page is it, Xiong''er? Go on, look!" the excitement in his Master''s voice seemed like he was the one who was awakening and not Fang Xiong. Slowly, Fang Xiong looked at the big bold words on the page he had the affinity with. Primate Affinity Fang Xiong, not being the most well-learned boy looked up at his Master and spoke, "Uhh, Old man, it just says Primate Affinity at the top of the page," Fang Xiong''s voice seemed completely lost as he looked at his Master for answers. The Master in question had his mouth wide open and seemed to have seen some kind of ghost if his pale expression was anything to go off of, "You''re saying it says Primate Affinity on your page?" Fang Xiong nodded hesitant and nervous about whether he''d awoken something good or trash-like. Master Long stood up and pulled Fang Xiong into a crushing bear hug, "HAHAHAH! My disciple awoke an umbrella Affinity!" Master Long carried on laughing boisterously for a few more minutes after that before he stopped laughing and finally stopped crushing Fang Xiong. Taking in massive gulps of air, Fang Xiong glared at his Master, "What''s an umbrella Affinity, I thought I said Primate Affinity, and why''s it worth nearly breaking me with a hug?" he spat this out in between breaths but his slight anger came through nonetheless. Hearing his disciple, Master Long started laughing again before answering the question, "You did awaken Primate Affinity but that gives you access to a few Animals, so it''s termed as an umbrella Affinity as it covers a few things." Fang Xiong felt enlightened and also a little embarrassed but he didn''t let that get to him and neither did his Master as he quickly started interrogating the boy, "Quickly, look underneath the title of the page, it should tell you the animals you have the affinity with." Fang Xiong did as he was told and looked before reciting what he saw to his Master, "Monkey, Gorilla, Chimpanzee, and Human," Master Long seemed to be figuring it all out as he waited for a bit before replying. "They are a good combination...You''ll find yourself with quite a lot of strength and endurance after practicing the Martial Arts on that page," Master Long remarked this with a laugh before he continued speaking, "Well, I''m going to let you get on with looking at the few pages you''ll have in the book, so we''ll have a training session tomorrow morning. See you at dinner, Xiong''er," And with that, he was gone. Fang Xiong didn''t mind, however, as he really did need to get to looking at the pages he had. Chapter 7 - Body Arts and The Library Fang Xiong looked at the first page. It had the Primate Affinity title and the things inside the so-called umbrella Affinity but underneath all of this, it had another title. "Human Form". Fang Xiong looked interestingly at this and started to read about it. Because it was about fighting and getting stronger he didn''t have his usual problem of getting bored when reading so he quickly finished the entire page. The gist that Fang Xiong got from this was that it was describing a body refining art form that would go with the 3 other Animal Forms and would make a Style; the Primate Style. Each and every one of them had their own effects of the body and would amplify a specific thing. The Human Form was focused on increasing the stamina of the body and the strength of the respiratory system and cardiovascular system. It even had an auxiliary effect of increasing the healing speed and fatigue recovery of the person who practices it. Fang Xiong looked a bit disappointed when he realized it wasn''t a form of martial art used for fighting but was instead used to push the limits of the body in certain ways. He shrugged his shoulders in the end, thinking that a way to get powerful was just as good as learning different ways to hurt people. Fang Xiong looked for the practice forms for this Body Art as it called itself but couldn''t find any, only three words and a special way of breathing. The three words were as such: Persevere, Everlasting and Survival. The breathing pattern that was described wasn''t too far from how he naturally breathed, so he decided he would give it a go. He walked over to the side of the courtyard and picked up the weights he used for training and put them on. Feeling the familiar crushing weight, Fang Xiong started breathing as stated by the page on the Human Form. It was similar to how he usually breathed but it was much quicker and very similar to panting like when someone''s out of breath. As soon as he started to breathe this way, his Ki started to ripple and started to spread towards specific Ki Veins. The Ki quickly traveled and surrounded certain parts of his body but mainly centered around his heart, blood vessels and lungs. Fang Xiong wasn''t the most clever and didn''t quite understand what Cardiovascular meant and he only had a small idea on what Respiratory meant, but he knew how to train stamina; Running. So that''s what he did, he started running around the courtyard. From his previous training of running around the courtyard until he''d ran 30km each day, his stamina was incredible and something you''d never expect a 10-year-old to have. But as soon as he started running with this new breathing pattern, he felt out of breath, his heart burned and arched and his entire body felt constricted. These mysterious effects, plus the weights made running incredibly hard. But nonetheless, Fang Xiong persevered and continued running. He wasn''t sure when but somewhere along the way he started to mentally chant the three words written next to the breathing pattern. The three words seemed to put him into a trance which let him ignore the fatigue and push onwards. . . . Suddenly, Fang Xiong woke up, face down, spread like a starfish out on the dirt floor of the courtyard. His entire body arched and every breath he took felt like he wasn''t swallowing air but instead inhaling sandpaper. He rolled over and took the weighted arm guards and shirt off before looking around and finding himself back by the book with the Ki Cultivation Methods in it, so he picked it up and looked at the page he left it on. It was still on the Human Form page but some new information had mysteriously appeared. Seeing the new information, instead of questioning it, Fang Xiong quickly read through it and absorbed the knowledge fully. It spoke about the trance Fang Xiong had just entered. It would allow him to complete the training to his very limits but it should only be done once, for every form, a day. Fang Xiong, feeling too tired to do anything else, simply sat there and read about the other Body Art Forms. . . . He''d read about all the forms and had finally recovered from his fatigue from the running earlier. About the running earlier, he''d found he felt much more energetic after he''d fully healed from the fatigue and felt that the Human Body Art was a wonderous way of training and he couldn''t help but wonder what his stamina would become after 3 years of training. Anyway, the other forms were just as interesting as the Human Form. The Monkey Form was focused on improving the flexibility, coordination, and balance of the body, with the three main words being; Flow, Nimble and Swift. The Gorilla Form focused purely on brute strength and endurance with the three words being; Dominate, Crush and Immovable. The last form he looked at, The Chimpanzee Form was focused around speed and strength with the three words being; Relentless, Ferocious and Rapid. All of them gave a different feel to Fang Xiong but he felt equally excited about practicing them all soon but for now, he decided he had to rectify certain weaknesses with himself. Grunting from annoyance, Fang Xiong headed to the Clan Library. It was a long walk but after the workout, he had earlier it seemed like nothing to walk to the Library without any weights on whatsoever.Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. While he was daydreaming about fighting and training, Fang Xiong bumped into a brick wall and was knocked out of his dreams. He jumped backward with anger on his face but when he realized it was a wall, he dropped the anger, and when he realized it was one of the Clan Library''s walls, he smiled and quickly entered. Everyone who was in the library looked at Fang Xiong in shock. they''d never seen this tall young boy outside of his courtyard before and even when they did see him he was constantly exercising and didn''t seem at all like the type of person who would come to the library to read books. But here he was, in all his muscle-headed glory. They looked at him with pity, which they didn''t know was the main factor on why he never left his courtyard, they looked at him because they knew he had unimaginably low talent in Qi Cultivation and the Patriarch wouldn''t let him cultivate in Ki. None of them felt disdain for the young boy, he was part of their clan, after all, they just felt bad for his luck in life. Fang Xiong ignored these looks, the types of looks that pissed him off the most; he didn''t need pity. Would pity make him stronger? No. Would pity help him out of his bad situation? No. So, to Fang Xiong, pity was a useless feeling in his mind. Fang Xiong walked up to the head librarian and stood in front of the old woman''s desk. She looked up from her book only to widen her eyes at the sight of Fang Xiong. Fang Xiong got ready to be annoyed by another gaze of pity but was surprised when the woman smiled and had a look of satisfaction on her face, "You''ve finally come to learn about the world you''re in. You know, you should leave your courtyard more often, it isn''t right for a young strapping lad like you to be cooped up all day!" her voice had a teasingly stern tone about it but Fang Xiong knew she meant well. But despite that, he could only grunt at her before moving the conversation along, "Can you tell me where to find the basic history of the world and some other basic things like geography and cultivation?" Disregarding his disrespect, the old woman laughed softly before pulling out a few books, "Your sister said you would ask for these, so I''ve already collected them. I even added a few, make sure to look at them," Fang Xiong was shocked his sister had such insight on him but still took the books and mumbled his thanks before turning around and walking to a nearby empty table. He sat down and picked up a book titled "Basic History of the World and It''s Species" before starting to read through the thick book. It was going to take a long time to read these. . . . Hours had passed and he had finished two of the books he''d got and was on the third one. The first two he''d read were obviously the History of the World and Basic Understanding of Cultivation. The one he was currently reading was a book about the basic geography of the Divine Beast World. He was coming to the end of the book he was reading and only a bit of filler information was left at the end, so Fang Xiong closed it. Fang Xiong sighed and rubbed his eyes for the umpteenth time in the past few hours. He''d rather be training but he knew he''d rather cover his weaknesses now than have to cover them later while he could be training. He decided to go over the information he already had, just to refresh his brain on what he''d learned. The world he was on was called the Divine Beast World, it had 4 continents with 4 different species populating them. Each continent had a specific dynasty ruling it. The four continents were called as such; Terra Continent, Demon Continent, Tian Continent and finally, the Beast Continent. Fang Xiong was currently on the Tian Continent ruled by a Human Dynasty called, surprise surprise, the Tian Dynasty. The other 3 races and the continent they ruled were as such; The Terra Continent was ruled by the Fae, the Demon Continent was ruled by the Demons (what a surprise) and the Beast Continent was ruled by the Kin. A small rundown on the other races was quite simple. The Fae looked like slightly altered humans but with mythical beauty and incredibly affinity to any kind of Elemental Qi/Ki. The Demons also look like Humans but they usually have unusual skin tones such as red, blue or grey and they have a pair of horns sticking out of their forehead as well, they usually had good affinity for Qi in general but because of their race it was a bit different to Human Qi. The Kin was what caused the most interest in Fang Xiong, however, as they were anthropomorphic animals and a child of both a Kin and a Human will look like a Human while still having some Animal traits fall through and be shown on its body. Fang Xiong felt his tail wrapped around his waist twitch but shook his head, casting out any weird thoughts. His family was here with his father, sister and uncle/Master and that was final. Anyway, the 4 continents were each different in their own ways, with the Beast Continent being half desert, half tropical rainforest, the Tian Continent being full of cities and mountainous regions, the Terra Continent being one big forest and the Demon Continent being a nearly complete desolate battleground most of the time. Each of the species had known each other since the start, somehow. Every bit of recorded history started with a picture of the same thing; all four of the species walking out of a dark cave together before splitting off to the 4 separate continents. Along with this, Cultivation has been with each and every one of the species since the start as well as giant Mutant Beasts roam the land and people had to defend themselves and Cultivation was the key. But no one had any idea on where it came from, nor did they have any way of finding out. Cultivation, in general, had the same stages no matter what your species was and what you cultivated. It started in the Houtian Realm and when you reached the 10th layer of that realm you''d be able to break through to the Xiantian Realm which also had 10 layers before you reached the Revolving Core Realm. The information passed that point was incredibly vague and even the information on the Xiantian Realm and the Revolving Core Realm were incredibly vague and little in amount. So all he learned from this book that there were a few realms in cultivation, each with 10 layers, but after that, not much is known. Fang Xiong felt his head hurt as the only information he really wanted to know was the only information that was this sparse. He knew it was a basic book on cultivation but it still annoyed him so. As he was banging his head of the table in annoyance, he felt a quick and excited tap on his shoulder. Turning around with a scowl on his face, Fang Xiong looked at who was tapping his shoulder. "Hello, brother!" Fang Xiong''s scowl disappeared immediately, replaced by a neutral look as his sister beamed at him. "Mhm, Hello Sister," Fang Xiong stood up and picked the books he hadn''t finish up, "Are you staying? Because I''m probably going to go home for something to eat. This reading is so boring..." At his complaining, his sister laughed before replying, "Yes, I was going to ask you if you wanted to walk home with me," Xiao Mei smiled as they both walked out of the library, both with books in hand. Along the way back, neither of them spoke. They just enjoyed the other''s company, feeling each others presence as both of them knew that soon they wouldn''t be able to. When they got home, Xiao Mei offered to make Fang Xiong a feast to reward him for reading the books. Fang Xiong sighed as he thought that at least something good had come out of reading those books. Chapter 8 - Goodbyes and Presents A few days had passed since Fang Xiong had visited the library. He''d spent these last few days reading his books repetitively and training the Forms from the book his Master had officially passed over to him. As he practiced the forms, more information appeared on the existing pages or in new ones. Things to help make the practice worth more or to make it more efficient but the thing that Fang Xiong was most happy about was that it gave him insights on how to change the forms from simple Breathing Techniques and into a singular special move. He''d already barely completed one of them, which was the Gorilla Form''s Move. Its name was quite simple, it was called "Crushing Blow". The aim of this move was to do what it said; crush. It focused the momentum and strength of the body into one of the limbs for an utterly devastating blow. Fang Xiong had tried it out and found that it was about 5x more effective than a normal full-powered punch or kick but as the drawback, it took a lot of energy from Fang Xiong''s body and left him quite fatigued after only 4 Crushing Blows. Other than this, he''d also been getting lessons on how to better control his Ki from Master Long, while also being taught on what the different uses for Ki were and how it differs from the other two Cultivation Systems. Ki could be primarily used to enhance the strikes the Cultivator threw out, while also being incredibly good at healing injuries and helping with the recovery of stamina. It was also incredibly good at defense and guarding the body of the Cultivator. Master Long then went on to talk about Qi and how it was different from Ki. Ki is calm and collected and wouldn''t hurt the body as it comes from the body and the energy knew not to hurt what it came from, but Qi, on the other hand, was entirely different. Qi is absorbed from the atmosphere surrounding the Cultivator and isn''t used to the body, so it naturally causes a bit of damage here and there but once they get control over it, this natural damage the Qi causes to a body becomes a boon for their offensive power. If a Qi Cultivator injects their Qi into someone with their attacks, the Qi will enter their opponent''s bodies and cause internal damage. This shows the high offensive power Qi Cultivators can possess. Other uses for Qi are Alchemy, Weapon Making, and Limited Healing, at least when compared to the healing Ki can dish out. The final thing Master Long talked about were Soul or Spirit Cultivators. He didn''t talk for very long about these kinds of Cultivators and when he was talking about them, all he did was call them cowards and overall seemed quite hateful of them. But as Fang Xiong listened to how they fought, he couldn''t help but agree that they were cowards. They cultivated Spirit Energy and of course the Soul and used this energy plus their enhanced Souls and Minds to make illusions that could interrogate or just trap people for as long as they had Spirit Energy to fuel the illusions. They also created Formations to damage their opponents or to put debuffs on them. For this reason, Spirit Cultivators are used as supports in group fights and are the perfect choice for capturing people who need to be captured without being hurt. "But never trust a Spirit Cultivator, Xiong''er, they''re all most likely than not scheming cowards who will use you as a pawn!" Fang Xiong could remember the look of anger and hatred on his Master''s face at that time but beyond the hatred, he could see the utter sadness there as well. It just served to remind him that he couldn''t let his Master down and risk hurting his pride; he had to become stronger. Currently, Fang Xiong was reading a book while swinging about on a massive tree in the courtyard. He would swing from branch to branch with ease, ducking and weaving between the branches like he''d been doing it his whole life. He''d even let his tail loose and let it sway behind him. His breathing was odd and came in quick bursts of three every now and again, it sounded oddly like laughter. Despite the ease of his actions, Fang Xiong was sweating buckets and had his concentration split in two ways. One way to his book, which he had to constantly switch hands as he was swinging around the branches, and the other way to concentrate on what branches to hold onto and swing too. He was swinging through the tree on his Master''s instructions for on how to properly progress in the Monkey Form. He did it without thinking and put the weights on and started climbing. Fang Xiong could only thank the God of trees that the tree was so big and the branches so strong that it could withstand the weights and him swinging about with them on. Fang Xiong stopped the breathing pattern and swung off the tree and let himself fall to the ground. He landed with a loud bang but ignored it and simply put his book down and took the weights off. He was back to only wearing his shorts while every else was laid bare. He liked it this way. The clothes his father and sister always made him wear were much too restrictive for his liking and only his Master seemed to understand what he meant.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Fang Xiong grunted in a dismissive way and just wrapped his tail back around his waist before pulling his shorts up a little to hide it. Putting his nose near his armpit and sniffing, he recoiled in disgust, noting that he really needed to clean himself. Thinking of what he had to do today and finding nothing too important, Fang Xiong left his family''s personal courtyard and walked into their house to go to the washroom. . . . 20 minutes later and a lot of scrubbing, Fang Xiong came out of the bathroom clean and smelling a lot better than before. He walked to his room, not bothering to cover himself with a towel. He entered his room and then to his drawer and picked out some underpants and some shorts which looked the same as the ones he trains in. Fang Xiong laid these clothes out on his bed before quickly rubbing his body down with the towel he''d brought from the bathroom. He shook his tail about aggressively, splashing water around his room but not caring too much about it. After he was dry he put his clothes on before looking at himself in his mirror. He wasn''t sure why but he had always been incredibly vain, for some reason he couldn''t help it. As he looked at his tall (for his age), broad and athletically muscular body, he couldn''t help but wonder what he was. Looking at other people his age, they were usually shorter, had much less muscle, if not devoid of it, and they were narrow instead of being broad like him. Thinking about what he was he thought back to that dream he had, with the tall man and the tall woman who gave him such a familiar feeling and yet such an unfamiliar one at the same time. Fang Xiong shook his head to rid himself of the confusing thoughts and backed away from his mirror and went toward the door of his room. Weirdly enough he heard some clamoring downstairs and quickly rushed to see what was happening, hoping to distract himself from the complex thoughts going through his head. When he reached the commotion downstairs he saw his sister lifting up a few suitcases and her uncle, his Master, picking up some of the others. "A-are you guys going now?" Fang Xiong''s voice cracked slightly but he covered it pretty quickly and no one seemed to notice as they turned to him. Master Long look relieved Fang Xiong was here. "Xiong''er, come over here and help me out with your sister''s luggage," Fang Xiong would usually tell him to do it himself, but for some reason, he was compelled to help. He lifted up the rest of the suitcases and carried them outside, following his sister and Master to the front of the Clan Estate. On the way there, Fang Xiong wanted to speak but just couldn''t find the words to do so and instead chose to be silent. When they finally arrived, there were a few carriages with men and women in uniforms in them surrounding a bigger, more luxurious carriage in the middle. All the uniformed men stood up and rushed over to stand in a line when they saw Master Long appear at the front of the estate. "Commander Long!" about 50 men and women shouted as loudly as they could as they lifted their fists to their chests in a salute of some kind. Fang Xiong widened his eyes in surprise, surprise that his Master wasn''t lying when he said he was a bigshot in the army and also surprised that people had this much respect for the old man. "Yeah, yeah, at ease. Now come and help me, my nephew and my niece carry these bags. Load them into the carriage and then we''ll set off," Fang Xiong put the bags down and watched as the soldiers saluted again and rushed to pick the bags up. Master Long looked over at Fang Xiong and motioned for him to come over. When he was in front of Master Long, he heard him start to speak, "Xiong''er, this short time has been magnificent. You''ve been a wonderful disciple and I think that you need to be rewarded~" as he said this, his Master grabbed at the air a pair of black gloves appeared in his hands, "These are special gloves for Ki Cultivators like us, so we can fight armed-opponents without having our fingers and hands sliced off. Try them on!" Fang Xiong quickly caught the thrown gloves. His hands dipped a little from the unexpectant weight of the gloves but this only excited him. He slipped them on and flexing his hands in an open and closing motion. He felt the metallic texture on his hands but also the surprising pliability of the gloves as well. He instantly knew they would make wonderful tools to beat people with. Seeing Fang Xiong''s ecstatic smile, Master Long boomed with laughter, "Haha! I knew you''d like them. Look after them. They should be good enough to go up against normal swords and Houtian Ranked Swords but always be wary!" Master Long slapped him on the shoulder before saying goodbye and good luck for the future and that he would see him again soon before he walked off to command his subordinates. This left Fang Xiong and Xiao Mei to stand next to each and look at the other, causing Fang Xiong''s earlier happiness to slowly fade. Xiao Mei had red eyes and her lip wouldn''t stop trembling, while Fang Xiong looked angry at something but his red-rimmed eyes gave away that he was just frustrated and sad. Xiao Mei went to say something but was stopped when she felt something shocking happen; Fang Xiong hugging her. "Wait for me at the Academy, sister. I''ll be strong enough to stand by your side at that moment, I promise!" Fang Xiong''s voice was strained and a bit shaky but that did nothing to hide the pure determination in it. Xiao Mei just vigorously shook her head while tears poured from her eyes. She knew how special this hug and declaration were and it made her heart explode with warmth. After a few more seconds of hugging, they separated and Master Long came back over. "Have you two said your goodbyes?" they both nodded their heads to the question, "Good because we need to get going," Master Long went to turn around before stopping himself, his face lighting up as if he remembered something, "Ah, Xiong''er! Here, catch!" Fang Xiong quickly reacted to the small object flying toward him and lifted his hand up and caught it. He opened his hand and looked at what it was. It was a simple, silver ring; a Spatial Ring. Fang Xiong looked up in shock at his Master only to discover him gone and probably in his carriage. After one last hug and goodbye, he left his sister to go and get in the carriage to go toward the academy she''d chosen. Fang Xiong put the ring on his index finger and sent some Ki to it to look inside. Inside were a lot of food items which were very rich with Vital Energy, some pills for Ki recovery and also some high-grade medical cream. Looking even deeper into the ring, Fang Xiong found a few books on the human body and how best to exercise it and push it to the limits. He willed one of them out and opened it. It was only a basic book but it was full of his Master''s insights. Looking back at the carriages that were setting off, Fang Xiong muttered a sincere ''thank you'' and got to thinking about which exercise would fit best with one of the 4 breathing patterns he had. Chapter 9 - War and Journey to the Academy In a giant compound, two rows of barracks gave way to a massive training ground with a single building overlooking it. On the training ground, many different men and women all of different shapes and sizes were exercising or hitting metal dummies with their fists or a weapon of sorts. On the balcony of the building overlooking the training ground, a man about 180cm tall looked down at the people training. The man had messy brown hair and wine red eyes. The man gave off an imposing aura and despite his lean figure, he seemed like he had enough strength to wrestle a beast to the ground. This man, if you hadn''t already guessed, was Fang Xiong''s Master and uncle, Master Long. Or known to most people as Commander Xiao Long or Commander Long. But unlike what Fang Xiong would usually expect to see on his Master''s face, a serious frown was spread across Xiao Long''s face. He was pondering about the state of the world. Not even a year after he''d left Fang Xiong to come back to the army, the Demon Dynasty started to push the limits of their diplomatic relations with both the Kin Empire and the Tian Empire. They wanted to expand onto the coasts of the continents of these empires and make colony bases. Obviously, neither empire allowed this and a fight broke out causing the Demon Empire to throw a hissy fit and declare war on both the empires. The Fae threw their lot in with the Demon Empire and the Tian and Kin Empires, who already had a good relationship, allied themselves to fight against the other two empires. This lead to a year of fighting, bloodshed, and slaughter on both sides. The fighting stayed away from civilian dense areas but Cultivators died on both sides by the dozen, and despite no civilians being killed, property damage and damage to the continents was going through the roof. It got to the point where after a year, all 4 Empires came together and made a temporary truce while they started making a new man-made continent. The new continent would be called the Battleground and would be made by all 4 Empires pooling their resources together and using Formation Masters to build the island. This took a year to make and wasted quite a bit of the resources of all the empires. Xiao Long couldn''t help but slam his hand down on the balcony rail in front of him. He couldn''t believe the 4 empires agreed to this and even went as far as to use their soldiers like poker chips which they''d bet with on the Battleground to determine who won the war and who gets the other''s territory or money. He didn''t quite understand how they expected it all to work but he was only a commander, an influential one, but still, only a commander who couldn''t question the Empress of the Tian Dynasty. Within the week he and all his subordinates would move to their new camp on the Battleground along with their allied Kin brothers and sisters. Xiao Long looked over the training ground again, before sighing and walking back inside thinking about how they were all being treated as nothing put private enforcers for the Empress. . . . Meanwhile, in an incredibly steamy room, a tall and broad-shouldered teen was doing some weird form of calisthenics. He held his body in certain positions with his arms before then standing up and doing equally twisted and weird positions with his legs in squatting motions. Each motion made his muscles flex, showing off their perfection. These perfect muscles covered his entire body in a shell of power, with each muscle perfect in its ratio of bulkiness and leanness; a perfect balance of strength and speed. The teen must have been about 186cm tall but with his back as straight as a spear, he looked even taller. His wild black hair was tied in a ponytail behind his head and was covered in the water vapor from the air, just like the rest of his body. Even behind the misty air, the boy''s bright orange eyes shone like a pair of luminescent bulbs. Each breath he took in seemed to vacant the room of its available oxygen, like a giant beast, was breathing instead of a teenager. The teen stopped doing his exercises and quickly washed his body with a few buckets of boiling water. After doing this, he stood up and walked out of the room. Even doing this, his muscles worked in perfect unison, like a well-oiled machine, and it would cause whoever to look at it to wonder; How powerful would this teen be in combat? As he exited the shower, as naked as the day he was born, he heard someone speak, "Xiong''er! Hurry up, your carriage will be here soon!" the teen, Fang Xiong grunted and hurried to his room. Fang Xiong rushed into his room and put on some underpants and shorts before fishing out and putting on a loose fitting tank-top, not liking how trousers and shirts restricted his movements. He didn''t put any shoes on for that same reason, they felt weird on his toes. Looking at himself, Fang Xiong reviewed the progress he''d undergone during the 3 years. He''d reached the 4th Layer of the Houtian Realm, and while this isn''t that high of a cultivation, he''d found something out along the way.You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. While Qi Cultivators only gained 500kg of strength per layer in the Houtian Realm, Ki Cultivators gained 700kg per layer. 200kg from the actual exercise needed to breakthrough and 500kg from them entering a new layer. But for some reason, Fang Xiong gained 1000kg per layer. He''d worked out that he earned the same amount as other cultivators when he broke through to a new layer but he could gain a whopping 500kg just through training alone each layer. So with his original strength before breaking through to cultivation being 1500kg, then 2500kg after, his strength was now 5500kg and he was now stronger than any Qi Cultivator at the 10th layer in the Houtian Realm in pure strength alone. Sadly he wasn''t stronger than a Houtian 10th Layer Ki Cultivator, who would usually have 7000kg in strength at that cultivation. This was good for him as he knew he''d always have an advantage even against Cultivators stronger than him but at the same time, it meant he''d have to find more and more extreme ways to breakthrough. The weights his Master had given him only simulated up to the 10th Layer of a normal Houtian Cultivator, so as soon as he reached 7000kg in strength, the weights wouldn''t increase in their heaviness and would soon become useless to him. He worked out that by the time he broke through to the 6th layer, he would have to find a new way of straining his body or to just find heavier weights. Fang Xiong shrugged his shoulders, he pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind, knowing there was no use worrying too much now and that he''d find a way to sort it out one day. He picked up 2 suitcases packed to the brim with tank tops, shorts, and underpants, as these were the only things he ever really wore whether he was training or not. He didn''t see the point in putting them in his spatial ring -- it was a waste of the important space in there -- and instead just carried them down the stairs as anyone else would. He reached the bottom of the stairs only to see his Father pacing back and forth nervously. This sight caused a slight smile to spread on his usually stoic face, "I''m only going to an academy, father," Fang Xiong stopped before his smile disappeared and he spoke a bit more harshly, "I''m not like sister, I''ll come back to visit you when I can." Fang Shen''s eyes shot over to his son before he reprimanded him, "Xiong''er, your sister is working hard to get stronger, neither of us can get angry at her for that. Especially you, you''re just as bad when it comes to wanting to gain strength," Fang Shen''s words caused Fang Xiong to avert his eyes, as he knew his father was completely right. Fang Xiong, his eyes still averted, mumbled something, "Well it doesn''t matter anyway, I''ll be looking for her when I get into the academy anyway..." despite him mumbling, Fang Shen heard him and came up and put his hands on his boy''s shoulders. "Xiong''er, please...please don''t let your first meeting between you and your sister for 3 years be a fight," Fang Xiong tried to shrug his father''s hands off his shoulders but it proved to be useless as they stuck there like metal clamps, "Promise me, Xiong''er, promise you won''t automatically try and fight her and that you''ll at least try to be civil. Can you promise me that?" Fang Xiong shifted uncomfortably, two sides of his mind fighting for what he should do. Fight his sister or see why she didn''t want to come home. He picked the latter in the end. "Okay, Father, I''ll try..." Fang Xiong looked his father in the eye to show he meant his promise. Fang Shen knew his son didn''t go back on his word, so he clapped him on the shoulder before leading him outside. "You''ll no doubt pass the entry tests into the academy, Xiong''er, so don''t worry about that," his father kept fretting about things like this even though Fang Xiong wasn''t nervous in the slightest, Fang Xiong couldn''t help but chuckle when he thought his father was doing this to placate himself and not Fang Xiong. As they made it to the entrance of the Clan Estate, a luxurious carriage was surrounded by 4 other carriages just like how his sister''s was. But unlike her convoy, his was made up of the best mercenaries his dad could afford to buy, instead of the subordinates his Master had from the Army last time. Thinking of his Master, Fang Xiong wondered how he was doing. Shrugging the thought off, Fang Xiong walked to the main carriage and opened the door before throwing his luggage in with little care. The multiple mercenaries gathered around the main carriage and bowed before doing a weird salute, "Young Master!" Fang Xiong wasn''t sure how to react so he tried his best to smile in a reassuring way. From the mercenaries perspective, a tall youth with a body of perfect musculature and a handsome face walked up to the main carriage and threw his bags in there. The men of the mercenary group looked at him in admiration, clearly knowing he packed a lot of strength in his body and would make a fine warrior, while the women of the group were all suddenly feeling thirsty as they looked at his well-built body and handsome face. Most of the men they were used to were muscular, yes, but they were very rarely as handsome as this youth. So this led them all to be surprisingly respectful to him and saluted at him, what they didn''t expect was his smile to look so predatory. His canines were slightly more pronounced than they were all used to and it slightly scared them. Unaware of the slight fear to his smile, Fang Xiong walked up to his father to say goodbye. As soon as he appeared in front of his father, his father pulled him into a massive bear hug. Due to their similar big sizes, they genuinely did look like bears hugging. "Xiong''er, I know you wish to become strong but still," his father pulled away to an arm''s length before looking at Fang Xiong with red eyes, "Look after yourself, okay?" his voice was cracking and the surrounding people could tell that he was using everything he had to not breakdown into tears. Looking at his emotional father, Fang Xiong knew that he had to give him at least one thing less to worry about and nodded his head with an "Mhm" before they separated from their hug and his father gave him a wooden box, "It''ll open in a month and it''ll give you some knowledge on where you''re truly from, my son," Fang Shen smiled before turning around and leaving. Fang Xiong was shocked and decided to quickly put the box in his spatial ring for safekeeping. He wondered why he had to wait a month for the box to open but he figured his father knew best. Despite one side of him raging at the fact, his father had kept his heritage from him, the other side kept it from having any effect on his emotions. Fang Xiong went and got into his carriage and before long they set off to the academy. It would be a long ride and it was still very early in the morning, so he decided to get some extra sleep in. Lying down in his carriage, Fang Xiong felt the excitement burning in his gut. He''d finally be able to fight and go up against other people. He so dearly wished to push past his limits and win, proving himself as a worthy person to his father, sister, and Master. Chapter 10 - Entering the Academy Grounds Fang Xiong was rudely awakened by a big bump and a sudden, sharp stop. If it wasn''t for his fast reflexes, he''s have fallen onto the ground. Angry at this happening, he kicked his carriage door open and got ready to shout. His shout, however, was stuck in his throat as he looked around him. The mercenaries were all looking at him with curiosity and so were the other people in the busy street. Fang Xiong reddened slightly and collected himself before looking at one of the mercenaries next to him, a tall athletic woman, "Hey, you! Why have we stopped?" seeming to not hear the disrespectful tone in his voice, the woman looked happy and walked up to him. "Young Master, we''re in the city that houses the academy and we have to stop as there''s no room for any more carriages," the woman seemed happy to get the chance to talk to Fang Xiong but he just ignored her after getting the information he needed. Figuring he''d have to make the rest of the way on foot, Fang Xiong got back in his carriage and picked up his suitcases before walking out of it again and beginning to walk off. Of course, he was stopped by multiple of the mercenaries around him. "Young Master, you have to wait for us to move with you!" "Young Master, you can''t go on your own!" and "Young Master, don''t go!" were said multiple times by the people around him but Fang Xiong just disregarded them and pretty much told them to go back and deal with the carriages. This peeved more than a few of them off but the women of the mercenaries seemed too struck by his appearance to see his disrespectful attitude. Fang Xiong didn''t know this as he didn''t care whether he was handsome or not. He felt a man should be judged not on his face but on his power, so he rarely cared about how he looked. Despite his lack of care, some people in the world would curse him for it as he had an incredibly handsome face. Sharp eyebrows and fierce eyes, along with a chiseled jawline and a straight nose, Fang Xiong looked incredibly handsome in a masculine way. Well, at least compared to the pretty boys one would usually see in a Chinese novel. Fang Xiong kept walking in a straight line for a while before realizing one big fact; he didn''t know where he was going. He looked about for a while, looking for crowds of people around his age but in the end, he found absolutely nothing. He refused to ask for directions, his pride not allowing him to admit he''d make a mistake by walking off on his own. So instead of asking, he wandered about the city, using his highly keen sense of hearing to listen in on other people''s conversations. Most of the conversations were complete babble. A "What do you want to eat tonight?" there and a "Want to go out tonight?" here, Fang Xiong''s pride was slowly getting whittled down and that alone annoyed him to no end. But the night is darkest just before dawn and upon a chance, Fang Xiong heard someone speak about the academy he was going to get tested at, "Quickly, Yu''er, we''re gonna be late for the tests at Guaiwu Academy, so hurry up!" a masculine but soft voice hurriedly spoke to someone else within earshot of Fang Xiong causing his head to shoot in that direction. Who he saw were two...peculiar people. The person he''d heard speaking was a teenage boy around 15 years old with emerald green hair and eyes, with an absolutely handsome face which looked slightly androgynous. He wasn''t that tall at around 174cm and he looked quite slender and sleek. "Calm down, Brother Yun, we''ve got plenty of time!" Fang Xiong looked toward the higher-pitched voice next to the green-haired teen as he heard it. He saw a purple-haired girl which cat-ears slightly twitching on her head, he looked down her beautiful but mischievious-looking face and saw that she had ice-blue eyes with slightly vertical pupils. As he was looking at her, he saw her eyes flick towards his direction. Fang Xiong instantly knew he''d been discovered as he eyes flickered with a playful flame, "Ufufufu, look Brother Yun, someone''s looking over at us!" her green-haired companion looked over to where she was pointing and saw Fang Xiong''s utterly imposing figure, he cocked his head in curiosity while the girl waved Fang Xiong over, "Come over here so we can talk! You obviously want to talk if you keep looking at us like that!" Fang Xiong wondered how he was staring ''like that'' but he knew he''d been spotted and they invited him over so he could take it that his pride had been kept. He slowly walked over to the weird pair of people. He did think about just walking away but he thought that''d waste a perfectly good chance at knowing where to go to get to the academy. When he appeared in front of him, the two people could finally get a good look at him. The teen boy had to look up slightly at Fang Xiong and couldn''t help but shake his head at the youthful face on the body of muscles, he seemed like he was too young to have these muscles but he still had them anyway. The girl didn''t seem that bothered by Fang Xiong''s appearance, she was more curious about who the big guy was. "So, why were you staring at us, big guy?" the purple-haired girl looked up at him with a wicked smile on her face. Fang Xiong thought about how to answer her question without embarrassing himself. "I''m going to Guaiwu Academy myself and I haven''t seen any other people on about it, so when I heard him," Fang Xiong nodded his head toward the green-haired teen, "Talk about you two going to it, I was curious about the two of you." The boy and girl seemed to think this was an acceptable answer and both gave him a nod before the girl started speaking again, "Oh, so that''s how it is? I just thought you were stunned by my beauty~" she put a hand underneath her chin, seeming to support it and flashed a beautiful smile at Fang Xiong. Fang Xiong deadpan expression at her so-called beauty caused her to flinch back a little, "Woah, it was a joke, you''re supposed to laugh, big guy," as if she remembered something and wanted this awkwardness to pass, she quickly carried on speaking, "Anyway! My name is Shi Yu, what''s your name, big guy?" Seeing her unused to his peculiar behavior, Fang Xiong cracked a small grin before answer, "My name''s Fang Xiong," he turned tot he green-haired boy, "What''s your name?" The boy seemed glad to finally be involved in the conversation and quickly did a mock bow and introduced himself, "My name''s Cuilong Yun, I''m unfortunate enough to be Yu''er''s childhood friend," Cuilong Yun put his hand out for Fang Xiong to shake. Seeing that the man was friendly enough and didn''t seem like an ass, Fang Xiong reciprocated the handshake. If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. "So, when are you two heading to the academy? The tests are gonna start soon and I wanna do them quickly," Fang Xiong couldn''t bring himself to ask them to guide him, so he used Cuilong Yun''s earlier impatient to his advantage. The green-haired boy in questions seemed to be invigorated by Fang Xiong''s question and turned to Shi Yu and locking his arms under her arms and over her chest, "He''s right, come on, we''re going!" he picked her up, Shi Yu starting to kick her legs like a child having a tantrum. "Put me down Brother Yun, please, I haven''t had my food yet! Look it''s here, just let me eat it!" no matter what she said, Cuilong Yun didn''t put her down. Fang Xiong looked at the two massive chicken legs that had been put on the table and felt his stomach rumble. He looked over at Shi Yu, "You''ve paid for those, right?" Shi Yu looked at Fang Xiong like he was her savior and started nodding her head vigorously. What she didn''t know was she''d unleashed a monster. "We can''t have the food going to waste now, can we?" Fang Xiong went and picked up the two massive chicken legs and before Shi Yu could even smile thankfully at him, he started devouring them. "NOOOO! STOP EATING MY FOOD!" Shi Yu renewed her efforts to get free but they were worth naught and Fang Xiong continued to devour his ''snack''. Cuilong Yun couldn''t help but look at Fang Xiong in disbelief, he''d never known anyone to eat that quick, even his gluttonous childhood friend, Shi Yu. The meat practically flew off the bone and down Fang Xiong''s gullet. He also looked at him in pity, because when he let go of Shi Yu, she''d undoubtedly go after Fang Xiong with a vengeance because of this incident. Cuilong Yun promised himself he''d try and keep the little demon in his arms away from the brave soldier that was Fang Xiong. After a few minutes, if that at all, Fang Xiong had devoured the chicken legs and threw the bones on the ground. This left Shi Yu limp and lifeless as she kept mumbling about chicken legs. They carried on walking, while Fang Xiong and Cuilong Yun occasionally talked to each other about the academy and the city they were in. The city they were in was named Guaiwu City as the academy was what the entire city was built around. As such, the academy is in the center of the city and a bit of distance away from where Fang Xiong found the two teen''s earlier. But after a 10-minute walk/jog they arrived at the location. At this time Cuilong Yun put Shi Yu down and unlike he expected, she didn''t try and rush Fang Xiong to attack him. Instead, she simply walked up to Fang Xiong and poked him hard in the chest, "You owe me soooo much food~!" she didn''t seem angry but both boys could tell she was. Fang Xiong, however, just shrugged his shoulders and agreed. It wasn''t like he was going to see these people a lot, right? Those three stood at the gates and looked at them. They were massive, thick metal bars, which seemed unbendable by even the heaviest forces, were all curved into arches, causing all three teens to think about how they got them to be curved in the first place as the metal truly did seem that strong. On top of the arch, there were 3 words written in bold, red paint. "Win Survive Thrive" This seemed to be the motto the academy used and just understanding the meaning made Fang Xiong''s blood boil, causing a savage smile to spread across his lips. Both of the other teens had smiles of their own but when they saw Fang Xiong''s smile, they felt that they might have met some kind of battle maniac. Shrugging off these thoughts, all three of them walked in through the gates which were partially opened for recruiting students today. It didn''t take too long of a walk to see the mass crowd of people wanting to be recruited as students with multiple lines spanning off of the crowd and toward dozens of desks with people on them. Fang Xiong looked at the people on the desk and saw that they were wearing a red robe with golden lines on the edges of the arms and around the waist and down the chest. Altogether it looked like one big rune of a red canvas. It looked quite appealing but Fang Xiong had a scowl on his face. The red robe looked to be the attire students had to wear and it looked much tighter than his tank top and shorts, causing Fang Xiong''s hatred of constrictive clothes to flare up. It wasn''t like he was scared of being in constrictive places, he just hated clothes that restricted his movements and by the looks of the robe, his movements could possibly tear it apart. Still following Shi Yu and Cuilong Yun, Fang Xiong joined the massive crowd. Feeling the suitcases taking up his hands, Fang Xiong just stored them in his spatial rings to keep them out of the way for the upcoming tests. . . . They must have waited for a solid two hours before getting to the lines coming from the crowd. Luckily they got into the same line and started to expand on their pseudo-friendship they''d started on the way here. Fang Xiong found out that Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu were both half-breeds. Cuilong Yun was half-Fae, half-Human and Shi Yu was half-Kin half-Human and they were both brought up in an orphanage after their parents abandoned them for, presumably, being hybrids. Once they started talking it seemed that they were complete and utter chatterboxes. Fang Xiong discovered they were both Qi Cultivators with Shi Yu being in the 10th Layer of the Houtian Realm and Cuilong Yun being in the 1st Layer of the Xiantian Realm. To top it all off they seemed to have special attributed Qi but as talkative as they were, they never mentioned what attribute it had. He learned they were both 15, two years older than him, and that they''d known each other for a solid 12/13 years. For what he told them about himself, was very little so he had to put up with the constant badgering of the two of them. He''d pretty much only told them about the fact he cultivated Ki and that he was 13, which seemed to blow their minds. His Cultivation Level and his special Attributed Ki because of the Heavenly Beast Method were kept secret from his new friends/potential sparring partners. Finally, they got to the person on the desk and Cuilong went up to give his information. Fang Xiong ignored Shi Yu''s continued questioning about him and listened in on the conversation between Cuilong Yun and the girl at the desk. "Name?" the girl asked with a boredly without even looking up. "Cuilong Yun." Scribbling it down, the girl asked her next question, "Cultivation System?" "Qi." "Age?" "15." With this, the girl filled the form out and looked up to pass it to Cuilong Yun. When she looked up, she was a bit shocked by Cuilong''s extremely handsome appearance but she still gave the slip to him and stutteringly spoke, "T-take this slip to the testing areas," she turned around and pointed around the corner of a big building behind them, "You have to go down there, o-okay? Do you need me to show you?" her red blush made her already pretty face look even more enthralling but Cuilong Yun seemed to take no notice. He smiled thankfully at her before answering, "No, I''ll be fine, thank you for your help!" and with that, he walked past the girl who seemed like she could finally breathe properly again. The girl got herself into order before calling for the next person in the line -- Shi Yu. Similar questions were asked and similar answers were given and the slip was given without any red faces or stuttering this time and Shi Yu joined Cuilong Yun a few steps behind the desk girl. Fang Xiong walked up to the desk and answered his questions all in one. "Fang Xiong. Ki Cultivation. 13 years old." His quick-fire answers were all caught by the girl and just by muscle memory she instantly filled in the boxes for the slip before looking up to hand it to him. Again, she was shocked at his appearance. She didn''t know where she got her luck but she had gotten two extremely good-looking guys in her line today. One with an incredibly handsome, pretty boy-kind of a face, pale white skin and a slender yet toned body, and the other one a tall, equally handsome teen but with more masculine features than the previous one and to top it off an incredibly attractive athletic body that could be clearly seen even through his clothes. She couldn''t believe her luck and thought she''d have to tell her Big Sis Xiao Mei* about the good finds she''d seen today. ( *Author Note: Yes, this is the Mc''s older sister and I''m using Big Sis as an affectionate term for an upperclassman who just happens to be a girl. The same applies to upperclassmen who are boys who will be referred to as Big Bro. ) Fang Xiong, took the slip, said thank you and walked over to the two who were surprisingly still waiting for him. With Fang Xiong here, all three of them continued their walk to the Testing Grounds. Chapter 11 - Academy Tests As all three of them passed the corner, they saw three lines heading toward what seemed like 3 different testing centers. Before they could get to the lines, people asked to check their slips. Knowing they were about to get sorted into their respective lines, they each handed over their slips. They were then filed into two different lines. One for Fang Xiong as he was a Ki Cultivator and the other for Qi Cultivators like Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu. "We''ll see you after you pass your test, big guy!" Shi Yu enthusiastically yelled before more people came between them and all three of them decided to get ready for the tests. Fang Xiong looked over at where they were with a slight grin on his face. Those two would provide brilliant sparring sessions. Fang Xiong looked at the other people in his line and couldn''t help but shake his head. Everyone was at either end of an extreme. Some people were short and lean, meaning they probably had speed, some people were tall, even more so than him, and bulky; obviously focused fully on strength. There were even some tall and thin people who walked with grace, who were obviously centered on control and flexibility. Fang Xiong was shaking his head because you can''t entirely focus on one thing if you want to become a top-class warrior. Too much speed without the necessary strength is useless and the vice versa is true as well, too much strength and too little speed will make you an easy target to hit and whittle down. As he thought this, his pride reared it''s head a little. He thought about how he was strong, fast and in control of his power, he couldn''t help but think that he would one day become a top-class warrior if he continued on the path he was on. While he was blowing smoke up his own ass, Fang Xiong didn''t realize the line had moved on without him and the people behind him were getting impatient with him. He turned around and growled a little at the people behind, a little bit of his animalistic instincts coming out before he walked up to the rest of the line. His line was much shorter than the Qi Cultivator line and he didn''t have to wait long for his turn to complete the tests. When he got to the desk in front of him, Fang Xiong saw a bald man who was about 2m tall sitting on a chair much too small for him. The man was covered in muscles and had multiple tribal tattoos spread through his bare upper body. "What''s ya Cultivation, kid?" the man''s gruff voice brought Fang Xiong out of his examination of the man. Fang Xiong looked down at the man before answering in an unperturbed way, "4th Layer of the Houtian Realm," The man held out his hand for the slip Fang Xiong had in his hand. He complied and simply gave the slip to him. As he gave it to him, the man grabbed Fang Xiong''s wrist and inserted a bit of Ki into the boy''s body. He continued to do this for a while before coming to the conclusion that the cultivation checked out and started to look at the slip. After looking back and forth between the slip for a while, the man finally spoke, "You''re pretty big for a 13-year-old...Oh well, with your age as 13 and your Cultivation, you''ve barely passed the first test." Fang Xiong''s eye twitched when he heard this. His three years of effort was barely enough to pass? His temple throbbed as he tried his absolute best to suppress his temper. He continually told himself that he would show them they were wrong, that his strength was higher than his Cultivation Level told. Thanking the man, Fang Xiong took the slip back from him and walked passed him. Behind the man, there was a woman with bright red hair standing next to a big red cushion on a machine. "Ah, come over here, this is the second test, the punching machine!" the woman seemed incredibly lively and Fang Xiong already felt annoyed by her presence. But as she was a teacher, he had to show at least a modicum of respect. Fang Xiong walked up to the machine and easily figured out how it worked. If it was to do with punching, Fang Xiong was surprisingly perceptive. "Oh, and you can''t use your Ki to enhance your strike. We only want to know your body strength!" Fang Xiong nodded at the lively teacher before he got himself ready. He reared back his fist and slowly adjusted his stance, the earlier feeling of humiliation from earlier burning in his chest along with a weird feeling that spurred him on to show everyone he was strong. Once his stance was ready and he''d grounded himself, Fang Xiong swung out with his full-strength.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. *BANG!* His fist sunk into the cushion all the way up to above his elbow. The machine kept shaking from the power of his blow, it wasn''t close to breaking or anything it was just that the power from his blow was concentrated so much that the machine was having trouble dispersing it. The lively teacher looked at Fang Xiong with an excited look, "Wow! 6000kg! That''s quite a lot! Are you at the 9th layer of the Houtian Realm? Give me your slip!" before he could even pull his arm out of the cushion to give her the slip, it had somehow ended up in her hand. She read through it with fervor but slowly, a confused expression fell on her face similar to Fang Xiong''s confused face currently. She was obviously confused about his 4th Houtian Realm cultivation, while Fang Xiong was confused about the strength of his hit. His usual max-strength is 5500kg but he got a score of 6000kg when he used his max-strength on the punching machine? He thought about it, while he pulled his arm out of the cushion. Which morphed back to its original appearance, as if nothing happened. After a while of thinking, Fang Xiong came to the conclusion that his body improved because of that weird feeling he had in his chest when he thought about the humiliation of being told that he barely passed earlier. Kind of like his body improved to an overwhelming need he had. The need this time was to be stronger to prove people wrong, and it could have happened before he just might not have noticed that it happened. It didn''t make much sense to him but it was the only thing he could think of given the information he currently had. Meanwhile, the redhead teacher had come over to Fang Xiong and put her hand on his chest before flooding his body with her Ki. Fang Xiong was surprised for a moment before he calmed down and let her do what she wanted. He just stood there and felt her Ki prod and poke at everything in his body and after a while, he closed his eyes and used his inner sight to see what he Ki was doing. He saw her Ki, a tidal wave of bright red energy. It was just washing through his muscles and bones, even his organs, looking for something. This carried on for a while before the woman stopped. She looked up at Fang Xiong with a suspicious face, "Hmm, you have a weird body, you know that, right? It seems like you have inborn divine strength but it''s not just your strength that''s insane, your endurance, durability, and vitality are all incredibly high...Interesting...You''ve passed the test, you can go to the final test." She handed him his slip back, took her hand off of his chest and let him go. Fang Xiong nodded and just walked off to the area behind her. He looked around and found that this testing ground seemed to be held on a massive field. He looked to his right and saw a Qi Cultivators Punching Test and then to his Left to see some kind of mat with a girl on it. She had multiple stones floating around his body in a peculiar fashion. Fang Xiong guess that was the Spirit Cultivator''s test. What it was testing Fang Xiong didn''t know, neither did he care so he simply carried on walking to the last test. The last test seemed to be held in a tent, as there was nothing else in front of him, so he entered it. As soon as he entered it, a few flashes of light seemed to scan through his body before a soft voice spoke up, "Put your hand on the stone in front of you," Fang Xiong looked around for the voice but all he could see was a floating stone in front of him. Seeing as he couldn''t see the person testing him, he put his hand on the stone. As soon as his hand was on the stone, he felt a prick of pain on his hand and grunted in annoyance. The blood that undoubtedly came out of it seemed to be absorbed by the rock before some lights started flashing inside the stone and outside the stone before they were projected above the stone in a picture. The picture was one of a giant man with red eyes, the man seemed to have a tail and his teeth were all sharpened to deadly points. His red eyes looked full of rage and bloodlust and there was not one single bit of reason in them. His entire body radiated power as if demanding respect and awe from all those around it, like some kind of God of War. The image flickered before it showed the same giant man but this time he looked much calmer. His eyes were still red and they were still full of anger and bloodthirst but it was under a tight leash of control. The giant man still exuded power but it was much more subdued. But don''t let that fool you, it was like a dormant volcano; calm now but at any moment it could erupt with furious anger and power. To add to the controlled feeling the man gave off his teeth were much more human-looking with only the Canines sharp and long. Weirdly enough there wasn''t a tail on this giant man but he didn''t seem less powerful because of it. As Fang Xiong was looking at the picture, it started flicking back and forth between the two of them before finally landing on a different picture; a mix of both. More powerful than either but much more hard to gain. Fang Xiong looked at the pictures with a burning feeling slowly rising in his stomach, a need to become what was shown in the picture. Both sides of his mind screamed for this as well. His cells started shaking, feeling empowered by a mysterious power coming from within themselves. But suddenly, as he felt he was gaining something, the picture disappeared and the soft voice spoke again, "Interesting...You have two natures and they both fight...which one will take control or can you balance them both? Haha!" the voice laughed for a while before continuing, "You''re an interesting child, you have passed my test...I''ll eagerly await your final state~" With that last line said, Fang Xiong found himself outside of the tent in a finishing area of the training grounds. "What...?" Fang Xiong couldn''t wrap his head around what just happened and it made him slightly mad. He couldn''t even stop that from teleporting him! Fang Xiong resolved himself for the first time to enter the nearest library and find a way to counter whatever just happened. As if to take him away from his internal anger, he heard a voice shout over to him, "Hey, Fang Xiong!" Fang Xiong looked over to where he heard his name being called and saw the signature green hair of Cuilong Yun. A slight grin spreading on his face, he walked over to talk to Cuilong Yun. Chapter 12 - A Meeting of Siblings It didn''t take much of talking for them both to hear an enthusiastic yell and for Shi Yu to shoot onto the scene. She kept nagging the others for their test results and Cuilong Yun gave him test score for the punching machine which was bang-on 8000kg. Fang Xiong was shocked at this as he thought that Cuilong Yun was a Qi Cultivator not a body cultivating Ki Cultivator. Seeing his shock and confusion, Shi Yu laughingly explained to him that once someone breaks through to the Xiantian Realm no matter their cultivation type, they gain 3000kg in body strength. Fang Xiong let out a breath of relief, thankful he wasn''t friends with another monster-like talent similar to his sister. If only he knew how wrong he was, both of his new friends were less than normal for their age... When the two of them heard Fang Xiong''s score of 6000kg, they weren''t too shocked; They sort of expected it from such a strong-looking guy. But when he casually mentioned his cultivation, it seemed to shake their cores. "Wait! You mean to say that you''re in a 4th Houtian and yet you can punch with 6000kg? That''s higher than an 8th Layer Houtain Realm Ki Cultivator!" Cuilong Yun couldn''t help but quietly shout this news at every in their vicinity. Fang Xiong, not wanting everyone to know his secrets just yet, put his hand on Cuilong Yun''s mouth and clamped it shut. Despite being stronger than Fang Xiong, Cuilong Yun didn''t do anything to stop this as he realized he''d been a loudmouth. Surprisingly, Shi Yu just looked at Fang Xiong with a suppressed joy in her eyes. Both Fang Xiong and Cuilong Yun noticed this, but only Cuilong Yun noticed why it was there, only Fang Xiong was left in the dark. "What? Why are you looking at me like that Shi Yu?" Fang Xiong unclamped Cuilong Yun''s mouth before he walked up to Shi Yu and questioned her. Shi Yu just beamed a smile at him before turning around to go and explore the grounds of the academy. A vein on Fang Xiong''s temple bulged when this happened and he closed his eyes to calm himself. He felt a hand on his shoulder and opened his eyes, "Don''t worry about it Brother Fang, she''s just happy that you''re special -- Like us," Cuilong Yun beamed a smile at him before following after Shi Yu. What he didn''t realize was that this spurred on more questions in Fang Xiong''s head and made him even more agitated. Letting out a stressed sigh, Fang Xiong followed after the annoying pair. After this, they toured the academy grounds and were all truly stunned by how big the entire thing was. They were blocked from some areas meant for 2nd years and above but most of the buildings were open everyone, so they had a decent map of how big the academy was. Just the food hall alone could probably hold up to ten thousand people easily. Thinking about the food all, the stress accumulated from the earlier questions, seemed to evaporate from Fang Xiong''s mind. "Hey, you two, should we go get something to eat? I''m pretty hungry," as if to back up his claims, Fang Xiong''s stomach grumbled loudly. Shi Yu seemed to remember something and poked Fang Xiong''s chest with a dark smile on his face. "Hmm? You''re still hungry after eating my two chicken legs? Shouldn''t you be full? You big glutton...!" she seemed like she was going to go into some kind of a rant but a sly smile appeared on her face, "...Buuut I''m hungry as well, so let''s go~" Fang Xiong was shocked by how quickly she could switch between things but he didn''t care much for it anyway, he now had a comrade for food so he was happy. Cuilong Yun had mentioned earlier that as a half-Fae he didn''t need to eat much, so he wasn''t hungry now but he still agreed to tag along with his two gluttonous friends. The food hall wasn''t far away and when they returned they quickly entered it and got in line. Fang Xiong was shocked by how much food was here and if the sign that said it was all free today was telling the truth, he was about to eat his fill~ While in the line, all three of them talked about cultivation. Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu mainly about meditation techniques that they recommended to Fang Xiong as they helped refine the person''s mentality as well as their mind. Fang Xiong agreed to give it a go but mainly talked about how he planned to up the intensity of his workout regimen with the resources available at the academy. Shi Yu curiously asked him what his current workout was and Fang Xiong told her all about it, including the weights he used (Not their magical properties, just how much they weighed to him now). Once she heard all about his workout, she was genuinely shocked. As a Kin, she had natural strength above a Human and she tried to use that advantage as much as she possible despite being a Qi Cultivator. So, she did a lot of physical workouts without any Qi involved and after doing these workout and upping the intensity over the years, she thought her workouts were pretty harsh but compared to Fang Xiong''s, they were childs play. "No wonder you can use strength higher than your cultivation level would suggest! You''re working yourself like a mule!" Shi Yu couldn''t help but exclaim this but Fang Xiong was already ignoring her as he was finally getting served at the counter. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. And boy, oh boy, did he get served. He ordered as much as he was allowed to order and this included at least 20 different large sized dishes. Cuilong Yun was shaken as he looked at his new best friend and wondered how his friend wasn''t literally covered in layers of fat? Even with his workouts, he should at least be quite chubby! Shi Yu, on the other hand, was coming to some conclusions of her own and started to scour over Fang Xiong''s body, looking for something. Because his order was so big, Fang Xiong was asked to go and pick a table and they''d send his food over to him. So he did just that while Shi Yu got a more relatively normal lunch and Cuilong Yun continued to question how much of Fang Xiong''s body does his stomach take up. Shortly after he sat down, he was joined by the two teens again. Shi Yu had 3 dishes expertly balanced on her arms and sat down before quickly devouring them. The dishes looked delicious and Fang Xiong couldn''t stop his stomach from angrily growling constantly while looking at the lovely dishes. Fortunately, Fang Xiong''s own dishes didn''t take too long to get to him. 4 large platters of food were delivered to him, each of them full of meat and vegetables and they were all seasoned just right. Not that any of this mattered to Fang Xiong, to him food was food, and he just started shoveling the food down his gullet. More and more platters were arriving but weirdly enough, the same amount was being sent back to the kitchen by clearly shaken waiters and waitresses. Shi Yu and Cuilong Yun were both looking at Fang Xiong in shock and awe. He just kept eating, they didn''t even know when he had the chance to breathe as his mouth and throat were constantly full of food or a liquid of some kind. He''d already eaten 16 platters and by this point, everyone within viewing distance was staring at their table, wondering who let a starved beast into the food hall. But one person who was there, a beautiful girl with white hair, seemed shocked and quickly sent off a talisman in a certain direction like some kind of warning or communication. None of this mattered to Fang Xiong, he just continued to eat. By the time Fang Xiong was done and the food stopped coming, he''d gone through 29 large platters of food and everyone just looked at him in a stunned fashion, some people even started clapping thinking that he''d overcome some kind of challenge. Fang Xiong didn''t mind them staring, he knew he ate a lot more than a normal person but what could he do? Be embarrassed? Over his dead body! He was proud of anything he did and would never apologize. Well, unless it was for a family member of his. "Ah, so you really are here, Fang Xiong," a cold voice spoke out behind Fang Xiong and he immediately felt his stomach turn as he himself turned to meet whoever spoke to him. When he saw what he saw, he felt multiple things. Surprise, happiness, shock, anger and finally utter rage. Standing in front of him was Xiao Mei, his older sister. She had changed immensely over the years, she had grown quite tall and was around 180cm in height, her figure was the perfect balance between lithe and curvy while seeming incredibly toned from exercise. Her face had changed and become the face of an incredibly beautiful woman, but the coldness spread across it was so freezing, it went full circle and seemed slightly scathing. Her once gentle red eyes had become cold and firm, like two pieces of frozen pieces of ice where two calm lakes used to be. As a 16-year-old she was pretty much fully developed and she already looked like a fully-fledged woman. But something was different about her. Fang Xiong didn''t care for any of the other changes because two of them were really drawing in his attention. The first one he saw was the lack of affection or happiness on her face, only coldness and annoyance at him being here and secondly, her face...was scarred. She had two crisscrossing cuts over the center of her face, like an ''X'' that stretched from above her eyes to her jawline. Fang Xiong stood up, his body slowly shaking, "Who did that to you, sister? Who hurt you?" his voice was eerily calm and even Xiao Mei seemed taken aback by that but she ignored his question. "Don''t call me ''sister'' we''re not related, you adopted swine," her voice was particularly harsh and anyone could hear her intentions to hurt Fang Xiong. But he didn''t seem to care, his shaking now getting more intense as he spoke through gritted teeth, "Who did this to you, sister? Who harmed you?" a terrifying aura slowly spread out from Fang Xiong''s body. The aura was full of bloodthirst, so strong that the people surrounding him could taste blood in the air. Fang Xiong slowly walked toward Xiao Mei, his eyes bloodshot and his pupils constricted into pinpoints. His eyes were slowly changing color as well. Their usual luminescent orange lightening to a metallic yellow. Xiao Mei seemed to shake for a second before she spoke, "It was from a spar and it''s none of your business, so stay out of it, Fang Xiong!" she started shouting toward the end of her sentence. But it wasn''t a desperate shout, it was more of an ordering shout filled with imperative. Inside Fang Xiong, his yellow Ki was going berserk and filling up his Ki Veins and flooding his body with power and energy. Ki didn''t enhance a person, it only let them use all of their strength, so while he wasn''t any stronger than usual, he was at his 100% as long as he had the Ki to continue this power-up state, and from the way his Ki seemed nearly inexhaustible in his rage, he would be able to keep it up for a while. Slowly, a yellow aura seeped out of Fang Xiong''s pores. The aura gathered around him and vented upwards and fluctuated just like a flame. "Sister," his manic and wild eyes looked pleadingly at his sister, "Just tell me who hurt you," his breathing became ragged for a second and he clenched his fists, blood dripping from them, "And I promise you, I.Will.Kill.Them." His voice was now full of bloodthirst just like his aura but what he wasn''t expecting was what his sister said next. Or rather what she did next. "Stop being such a pest!" Xiao Mei said this and seemed to disappear from where she was standing. Fang Xiong''s instincts screamed for him to block and his body moved on instinct alone and put his arms into a block in front of his stomach. "Argh!" just after he put the block up he felt a heavy fist land on his arms, fracturing the bones in his arms slightly and sending him backward into the table he was just sitting at. Fang Xiong looked in disbelief at who just hit him; Xiao Mei. The girl who''d never hit him in all his 13 years of life, the girl who''d loved him and cared for him no matter how trash his talent for Qi Cultivation was, that same girl just hit him with enough force to nearly break his arms. "Why...?" was all Fang Xiong could get out through his unconsciously clamped jaw. He felt like something was tearing at his chest, ripping it to shreds and the feeling filled Fang Xiong with a sadness he didn''t understand. Chapter 13 - Fight In reply to his heartache, Xiao Mei simply gazed at him with a terrifying calm, "Because I don''t want some overly emotional brother following me around, someone who will embarrass me without fail," her voice was incredibly scathing and a smirk slowly spread across her face. Seeing this, a slight ringing started in Fang Xiong''s ears and his vision started going black around the edges. Slowly, the shredding pain in his chest slowly spread to his stomach where he started to feel nauseous because of what his sister was saying to him. His breathing became shallow as he felt if he took in too much air he''d throw up or pass out. "Sister, why...? Why are you doing this...?" the pain in his arms didn''t matter at the minute, the feeling of nausea making him feel like he wasn''t present in his body. He clenched his fists and flexed his arms as he held them at his side, trying to keep the blackness of his vision from taking over and him falling unconscious. His voice was strained and, surprisingly, full of emotion. For a second, a glimmer passed through Xiao Mei''s eyes but it was but a glimmer and was soon replaced with the seemingly permanent coldness in her eyes, "Because like I said, I don''t need to have the pressure of looking after you, Fang Xiong. You''re weak and I can''t afford to shelter you." A shuddered quaked its way through Fang Xiong''s body and his eyes were wide open. All he could hear right now was the blood rushing through his veins and his heart beating strongly, progressively getting faster and faster. He thought about all the times he trained to stand next to his sister''s side. He thought about all the times he spoke to her, laughed with her, ate her cooking and simply spent time with her. He thought about all the times he reminded himself that he needed to be strong enough to protect her pride, and as he looked at her scarred face, he couldn''t help but feel a build-up of anger and hatred. Those scars were proof that he was weak and wasn''t here to protect her. All of these thoughts were happening in his head at an incredibly rapid speed and to the outside, they only thought he was stunned from what his sister had said to him, plus the scars on her face. The feelings that were building up in his chest seemed to affect his Ki even more than before, the yellow Ki becoming even more berserk and rushing around his Ki Veins even quicker and in denser amounts than before. "Why won''t you let me help you, Xiao Mei...?" Fang Xiong choked out as his already bloodshot and wide eyes seemed to get even more bloodshot, "I just want to help you...can''t you see that...?" Xiao Mei scoffed at his emotion-filled voice, "I''m going to give you 5 seconds to renounce your ties to me, Fang Xiong. I don''t need useless people being tied to me after all." Fang Xiong''s shallow breathing was getting ragged and heavy now, his body flexing and his joints cracking and popping, "Why...!?" Fang Xiong started walking toward his sister once again. "Answer me!" he roared as he sped up his walking, "WHY?!" his voice echoed strongly throughout the food hall and most of the people, no matter their strength, found themselves recoiling from the utter rage they heard in the shout. Xiao Mei didn''t seem affected by the shout, she just rolled her eyes and walked to meet his walking charge, "Because you can''t help me. You''re weak, Fang Xiong, how many times do I have to say it?" Hearing her call him weak seemed to dig into his heart and force more feelings of anger to build up in his chest which started to drive his Ki even more berserk. The rage slowly changed the blackness in his vision to a red screen and his Ki started flooding into his body even more fully, seemingly breaking some kind of limit. Once this limit was broken, Fang Xiong shot off from where he was and charged at Xiao Mei. The ground cracked deeply with every step he made, the vibrations told everyone in the surrounding that he was using every bit of his strength in every step. "RARGGGGHHHHH!" Fang Xiong couldn''t find any other way to release the pent up feelings in his chest, other than to let out a primal roar. Everyone looked at him and started to look for signs that he was a half-Kin.Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. Xiao Mei just continued calmly walking toward Fang Xiong. She clearly didn''t want to waste any more energy than was necessary. It didn''t take long for the rampaging Fang Xiong to reach her and he drew back his arm to punch her. Xiao Mei seemed to be having none of that and simply stepped into his range and sent a quick punch into Fang Xiong''s diaphragm, winding him. "Urgh!" Fang Xiong stepped back a little, before wheezing for air. But this attack only seemed to fuel his anger even further and he stepped forward again and started to punch her again. This process repeated itself, with Fang Xiong not really being able to hit her and Xiao Mei constantly hitting him in different kinds of incapacitating ways. But no matter how much she hit him, he would go down. She was sure she''d broken plenty of his bones, torn plenty of muscles and ligaments and he had bruises and cuts all over his body but he just kept fighting. No, in fact, he was actually getting faster, stronger and more precise in his attacks as they fought. His aura also got thicker and thicker with bloodthirst and rage as time went on. In Fang Xiong''s perspective, he''d completely let go and let the instincts he''d been holding back for all his life free. He was in complete control but the form also took a bit of control and guided him to whatever was making him angry. He could stop fighting his sister if he wanted but that''s the thing; he didn''t want to. He kept pushing himself harder, to prove her wrong, to show her he wasn''t weak. But he couldn''t even land a hit on her and she was completely toying with him and all of this only added to his anger which flared his Ki and allowed him to push further past his limits. But as the fight went on it was inevitable that some teachers would arrive. Weirdly enough they were the redhead and big bald man who tested him earlier today. They arrived after some complaints about fighting in the food hall and arrived to see a shining star of a student, Xiao Mei, fighting one of the new students. After asking a few students around them they discovered that this was a family dispute. The redhead stopped the bald one from intervening as she spotted instantly who Fang Xiong was and she wanted to see what he could do. The bald one asked her why she wanted to do that and she explained why, shocking the bald man with a tale of the punching machine incident. By now, Fang Xiong was pushing Xiao Mei to her limits without Qi helping her and she looked quite annoyed with this. "This is getting pathetic...Time to end this, Fang Xiong." After she said this, Xiao Mei flared her Qi and seemed to disappear from where she was once again. Fang Xiong''s instincts and senses were incredibly keen at the moment and he heard someone whisper something about a Martial Skill being activated. But he didn''t have time to think about what a Martial Skill was or did he even want to; he felt wind movement behind him. He turned around only to see nothing and then feel a hand near his tail, "Xiao Mei, don''t---!" His vision went black for a minute while the nerves throughout his entire body flared in the most intense pain he''d ever experienced. Slowly, his vision returned to him and he found himself lying on the floor with a foot placed firmly between his shoulder blades, "Renounce our ties, Fang Xiong. Do it now." Realizing what happened, disbelief flooded Fang Xiong''s mind. She''d touched his tail, no, she''d tried to crush his tail! As he thought about this in a mental rage he couldn''t help but remember a memory of when Xiao Mei first accidentally touched his tail when he was 5 and she was 8. He''d frozen up and went into a seizure of some kind before falling to the floor. When he woke up he found Xiao Mei crying and sobbing heavily, muttering about how she was sorry and how she didn''t mean to hurt him. After he got up he felt pretty humiliated but seeing her sincere apology, he let it go, and she also vowed to never do that to him again, so he trusted her. Back in the present, he felt like something in his heart had shattered. It was hope. Hope that his sister was putting on an act, hope that she''d remember their promise and that she''d never humiliate him like she did back then. But now it was gone, crushed into nothing. Now all Fang Xiong felt was pain, sorrow, and rage. His chest felt incredibly hollow and the feeling of nausea was back. "...My sister, the sister I knew and loved, died today. How could I have ties with her anymore...?" Fang Xiong''s voice was hollow and seemed slightly lost as he pushed on the ground with his hands, completely unsettle by being made to lie down. Xiao Mei shook, very briefly, but another glimmer went through her eyes. These glimmers seemed to be intense emotions getting through the cracks. Whatever these emotions were, no one knew but one could guess from her actions that they could possibly be hateful ones. She slowly took her foot off of Fang Xiong''s back and leaned down to pick him up by his neck, "Teacher, please take this 1st year to the infirmary, if you wouldn''t mind," she then tossed him at the redhead teacher who was watching from the sides. The redhead caught the thrown boy and looked between him and Xiao Mei in pity and sadness before she nodded and walked away to the infirmary. Fang Xiong lost consciousness from this point onward. The hollow feeling in his chest had sapped all the feelings building up in his chest and taken away his inexhaustible and berserk Ki which was the only thing keeping him conscious. The redhead felt some of the residue berserk Ki and was even more intrigued by this new student. She thought about it for a while before deciding that she and her husband would give him a little help when he woke up. Chapter 14 - Recovery On a bed, lying down, was a bandaged up, Fang Xiong. He was currently just looking up at the ceiling with his slightly hollow yellow eyes. He didn''t know yet but his eyes had permanently changed color from the orange amber from before to a metallic yellow but right now, he probably wouldn''t care. He''d woke up about 10 minutes ago and couldn''t move. The redhead teacher who''d carried him here was in the room just a moment ago and said it was a wonder he could even breath with how broken his ribs were. That was before she went off to look for a healer. Before she left she''d bandaged up the majority of the major splits in his skin from the beating he''d gained from Xiao Mei. While she was gone, Fang Xiong checked his body condition and simply thought about things. His body condition was quite terrible. His ribs were pretty much crushed and his face and jawline had multiple fractures. His arms were fractured in multiple places and it was a miracle he could even use them as he did earlier in the fight. His body was covered in bruises under the bandages and as a result, even lying down felt like hell and whenever he tried to move pain wracked through his entire nervous system like blades, so he just decided to lie still in the end and just think. He thought about how one of the three people he truly loved and called family, had betrayed him. How she''d coldly cast him aside as if he meant nothing to her. He couldn''t help but want to scream out his anger, he wanted to scream out his anger and destroy something, a part of him wanted to rage on and on and on until everything was dead and gone. This rage started to collect in his chest and mixed with the sorrow there, the result being that his Ki started to get unsettled again like it was preparing to go berserk like before. Fang Xiong quickly closed his eyes and started to slow his breathing down. He couldn''t afford to go berserk in the state his body was in, right now he needed to heal. But even when he thought about this, even though he knew he needed to heal so he could train, he so dearly wanted to let go and just let the rage out. His eyes that had just returned to normal began to redden again but purely from sadness this time, rather than rage. Fang Xiong promised himself at this moment that as soon as he could train again, he would, and oh boy would he train. He''d train until his bones creaked like they would break until his muscles went stiff until they''d snap and until his skin was bruised and torn like a dangerous toddler had a go at him with a knife and some scissors. As he lay there, he could only think of one thing. He would learn from this situation. He would become strong no matter the cost. As his thoughts and feelings continued swirling around in his chest, he heard the door opening and someone talking to another person, "You should see him, Doc, his body is practically built for combat and his sheer vitality is phenomenal--Ah, you''re awake? Good!" the redhead teacher was back and this time she had brought who Fang Xiong presumed was his healer. Fang Xiong examined the person who''d come to heal him. He saw a pretty short man, around 153cm tall, but he was built like a brick shithouse and had thick and burly muscles covering his body. His face was rugged and square as far as Fang Xiong could tell but the man''s thick beard and long black hair covered most of his features. Fang Xiong raised his eyebrows a little bit as he looked at the man in front of him. He remembered reading about his race in a book a few years ago. The race the man belonged to was a sub-species of the Fae race; A Dwarf. They were quite short when compared to other species but they made up for it in sheer width and all of them, whether they were man or woman they were born with incredibly stout builds. Dwarves had incredibly keen senses as well along with high inborn strength, much higher than Humans. It was only a shame they seemed to like support jobs compared to being soldiers which would use their talents incredibly well. Most of the time they became Blacksmiths or Alchemists, or in this case, Healer/Doctors. Seeing Fang Xiong''s condition, the Dwarf quickly ran up to him and gently placed a hand on the boy''s neck, checking his pulse. "Fuckin'' hell woman, the boy''s body''s in bits! We walked from my bloody office and in that time he coulda died! Why didn''t you tell me he was so hurt!" after saying this, he quickly started to inject a weird energy into Fang Xiong''s body. Fang Xiong just looked at the Dwarf before closing his eyes and turning his awareness inside himself. He watched as the unfamiliar energy spread throughout his body and started to group together in specific ways. Once each of the pieces was made, they all started rotating and started to help put the body back together. It was like a formation. Fang Xiong wasn''t really concentrating on that, however, he was more focused on the energy itself and what it was. It was similar to both Ki and Qi; Calm and collect but also wild and slightly volatile. Suddenly Fang Xiong put 2 and 2 together and figured it out. The man was making a formation in his body and it was an energy he''d never felt before, and there was only one main type of energy he''d never felt before that could make formations; Spirit Energy.Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation. Fang Xiong figured out that this Dwarf was a Spirit Cultivator. Thinking about this, he thought about what his Master said about these kinds of cultivators. But looking at the one in front of him who was trying so dearly to help him, Fang Xiong couldn''t help but wonder what happened to his Master regarding Spirit Cultivators. Was it similar to what happened between him and Xiao Mei? As he thought this, the Dwarf treating Fang Xiong let out a sigh of relief before backing away from the boy and back over to the redhead''s side, "You''re right about the boy''s body, Freya. His body structure is too solid to be a Human," the Dwarf briefly looked over at Fang Xiong before looking back, "You know about his tail, right? So he''s a half-Kin and that explains some of his strength but even Kin aren''t as outrageously built as this lad. If someone asked me to realistically build the ideal warrior? I''d make something incredibly similar to this kid. He has the best traits from Humans, Fae and Kin." The redhead, who was apparently called Freya, nodded her head at what the Dwarf said. What she didn''t expect was for the Dwarf to carry on, "But that''s all potential, Freya, if the lad gets injured like this too often, he''ll get crippled for God''s sake!" To this, Freya laughed a little bit before giving her reply, "You Spirit Cultivators will never understand the body like us Ki Cultivators..." she slowly shook her head before looking at Fang Xiong who was pondering on something, "That boy''s every cell holds such energy. Such potential. So much that you wouldn''t believe me if I told you how much. He won''t become cripple from these kinds of injuries," Freya smiled and spoke in an incredibly upbeat manner to which the Dwarf could only sigh at this. He put his hands up in surrender before backing away and leaving the room. After the healer had left the room, Freya came up and sat down on the side of the bed, "You okay, kid? What your sister did was a bit much, I''m sorry you had to experience that," she looked at Fang Xiong with sincere pity in her eyes but all this did was piss Fang Xiong off. "Stop looking at me with pity. I need to heal, if you can''t do anything to speed that up, get out," his harsh words and calm voice jarred Freya a little as she thought he''d be a bit more disillusioned after what happened earlier. But seeing the small flame in his eyes and knowing he wanted to heal, she knew which angle she could come from, "You want to heal so you can train and get stronger, right?" as if to prove her point, Fang Xiong''s eyes shot in her direction, "Yes, of course, you do. Now, what if I told you that I could help you train to become much stronger? If you agree to one of my conditions is all." The small flame in Fang Xiong''s slightly dull eyes, seemed to inject some brightness into them and he looked at Freya with a bit of mania in his eyes, "What condition?" one could tell from his voice that he would do next to anything to get stronger. "Oh, it''s nothing much really, I just need you to be my representative in the Tournament for 1st years," she smiled casually as she looked into Fang Xiong''s eyes and saw his battlelust flare up. "There''s going to be a tournament? And all you need me to do is represent you?" he cocked his head to the side, not really seeing what she got out of this. Seeing his confusion, Freya decided to clear it up, "I guess there is another condition. You need to join my style of Martial Arts, beat the other representatives of their respective martial arts and then I''ll get put at the head of the Martial Arts Meet in a year and that will give me plenty of benefits~!" Fang Xiong just looked at her and thought about what he''d get out of it. He''d get a martial art that he could then use to fight people and test his limits, he only had one more question. "Will you give me the resources to get stronger?" his voice was calm but the subtle shake to it showed how important this part was to him. Freya also noticed this and realized he had been quite badly affected by what happened, just in a way different compared to a normal person. "Yes, I''ll help you train in both the Martial Art and all around Cultivation for the next 4 months until the Tournament begins," she leaned forward and ruffled Fang Xiong''s hair, "Just heal up quick, kid. We don''t have much time to waste!" Fang Xiong, while extremely annoyed with the hair ruffling, was also incredibly happy with the thought of gaining resources to get stronger while also having a Tournament to look forward to. His entire body was burning with excitement. All he had to do was wait and heal. This thought was like a bucket of cold water and he looked over at Freya who was still sitting on the bed, "How long will it take for me to heal?" Hearing his question, she stopped for a minute and just pondered before putting her hand on his chest and sending a strand of Ki into his body. It was the same bright red it was before and it washed through his body just like last time. But this time it was much more careful and seemed to avoid the formation pieces set up by the Dwarf healer from before. After a lot of probing, she took her Ki out of his body and stopped touching his chest, "I can''t believe it...You''re an actual monster, you know that, right, kid?" Freya looked at Fang Xiong with disbelief practically flooding out of her eyes. "Just hurry up and tell me how long it''ll take for me to heal!" Fang Xiong was getting a little impatient but Freya didn''t seem to mind, she was too happy finding out something while looking in Fang Xiong''s body. "You''re natural healing ability along with the Healing Formation in your body...You''ll be healed in about 5 days...Well, I''m at least glad that you fit my Martial Arts style..." Freya seemed both incredibly happy and incredibly surprised at the same time and it made her face look a bit weird. Fang Xiong, on the other hand, felt a bit of pride build in his chest, pride that he could heal and get back up after such grievous injuries. The pride was small and merely a speck but it was there. "Well anyway, I''m going to leave you to heal, I''ll be back in a few days for our first lesson!" and with that, Freya was gone and Fang Xiong was on his own again. Despite having the resources to get stronger, solving the problem of his weights not helping as much anymore. and also having a tournament to get stronger for, Fang Xiong still felt a slight emptiness in his body. So he just looked up at the ceiling like he did before and thought about stuff. Mainly about Xiao Mei and how one day he''d find out why she''d change. He didn''t mind if he had to literally beat it out of her but he would find out and when he did, whoever took his sister away from him would be crushed into the ground like the worthless bugs they are. What Fang Xiong didn''t notice while he was doing this was that there was a white-haired girl staring through a crack in the door and was drawing something. She looked incredibly interested in Fang Xiong. But before she could finish her drawing, she heard 2 people walking toward her, so she ran off. A little while after, Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu both tentatively walked into the infirmary where Fang Xiong currently lay. Chapter 15 - Martial Art A few days later and plenty of annoying chats with his new friends, Fang Xiong was finally out of the bed. And he''d never felt better. His body felt immensely stronger like it was many times more durable and filled with boundless energy. Fang Xiong wasn''t sure by how much he''d improved but he could safely say it was definitely an increase of 3000kg or even slightly above that. He didn''t quite understand how his strength had increased but he did know it was mainly because of his unique physique and the beating he''d recently received. He first found out about this in the early days of sparring with his Master. When his Master used to beat the shit out of him to instill the basic moves in his body, Fang Xiong would find himself much stronger after healing from his injuries. He''d told his Master who looked at his body with his Ki a few times before not coming up with anything, so they were both left stumped. They even did training whic beat Fang Xiong within an inch of death by exhaustion and messed the increases. But the boost had never been as big as it was now, and Fang Xiong marked that down as his Master had never hurt him, or pushed him, as much as Xiao Mei and therefore the boost was much bigger this time. Thinking about this, Fang Xiong felt a hollow pain in his chest and wondered how he was going to explain this to his father and to his Master. He felt like his pride had been stamped down completely and anger started to build-up in his chest. To supress the anger, he quickly started to distract himself by removing the bandages all over his body before getting dressed. While he was ripping the bandages off of himself, the door to the infirmary opened and Freya walked in. Seeing Fang Xiong practically naked, she was about to apologize but when she saw he didn''t seem to care, she dropped it and said what she came to say, "You''re fully healed now, even quicker than I predicted. So are you ready to start training under me?" Freya calmly looked at Fang Xiong who was now getting dressed. "Yes, I''m ready," Fang Xiong just seemed to want to get it over with, so he quickly put on the loose-fitting trousers he''d asked them to bring and walked over to Freya. Freya looked weirdly at Fang Xiong who didn''t put a shirt on, "You''re not going to put anything else on?" to her question, Fang Xiong just grunted and walked toward the door. She shrugged her shoulders as if to say ''if he doesn''t mind, neither do I'' before she followed after him. She quickly overtook him and started leading him toward her own personal training ground. On the way, not much was spoken between them as Fang Xiong still seemed to be thinking about stuff from multiple days from before. He was so deep in thought he could only concentrate on following Freya and didn''t see the multiple people standing around and watching him while gossiping. "Hey look, isn''t that the guy who got beaten around by Xiao Mei?" "How''s he walking about this soon? He was beaten half to death 3 days ago and now he''s up and walking around like it never happened..." "Why''s he walking around without a shirt on...?" He didn''t seem to hear anything and Freya was glad he didn''t. Mainly because it seemed like what happened a few days ago seemed to awaken some pretty bad anger issues in himself and he probably wouldn''t take too well to people gossiping about him. Fang Xiong continued to catch the attention of the people around them but he continued not knowing he was going so and before he knew it, they arrived at Freya''s private training grounds. They entered the grounds and Fang Xiong came to a stop when Freya did. Purely on habit from his Master, Fang Xiong sat down and looked up at Freya, waiting for her to start speaking. Freya looked confusedly at Fang Xiong but just went with it and started speaking, "Okay, let''s get started," after she said this she grabbed two books out of her spatial ring and threw them onto Fang Xiong''s lap, "Read these." Fang Xiong did as he was told and read through the first book. It was named Tian Empire Martial Arts: Blood Style. He glanced at the other books title and saw it had a similar title, it was named Tian Empire Martial Arts: Storm Style. Seeing they were martial art books, Fang Xiong started reading the first book he looked at with a renewed vigor that seemed completely different compared to his catatonic-like behavior from the previous days.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Seeing his vigor, Freya mentally let out a sigh. She was worried he''d lose all motivation over one fight and would never be the warrior she thought he was. But those worries were unneeded, as the fight only further deepened Fang Xiong''s need for power. Fang Xiong read through the red book. Its pages were red and the writing was solid black which made it slightly hard to look at but Fang Xiong''s enthusiasm allowed him to easily ignore this. Through reading the first few pages, he saw what the Blood Style was all about. Apparently, it was an off-branch of the Water Style and was made to have the best of the Water Style while improving its lethal applications and its ability to kill. While the Water Style was calm and soft, the Blood Style was relentless and ferocious making for quite the contrast. Flicking through the next few pages, Fang Xiong gained a bit more information on the other Styles of the Tian Empire. There were three other main Styles: Fire, Earth, and Air. They each had their own variants but Water was the only one with two. One of them being Blood and the other being Ice. Fang Xiong looked interestingly at the other stances, wanting to know their strengths but the pages were vague and instead went on and on about the Blood Styles advantages. So that''s what Fang Xiong ended up reading in the end. He read about how the Blood Style was mainly complimented by a practitioner with high stamina and resulted in some kind of unstoppable killer, their strikes being both flexible and hard, and their movements being silent and quick. Going to the next pages, enthralled by the information, Fang Xiong saw a few stances labeled under the title "Beginner Stances". Each Stance looked weird to Fang Xiong like they were constantly in motion despite them being pictures. "Both flexible and hard..." Fang Xiong whispered as he looked at them, Freya off to the side saw Fang Xiong''s understanding and knew he could see what she wanted him to see. "That''s good! Now, quickly, look at the other book''s stances!" Freya seemed impatient for him to see something so she heavily urged him on. Fang Xiong did what she wanted and quickly flicked through the Storm Style book and reached the stances. Each stance looked similar to the Blood Style''s stances; constantly in between motion and standing still. But the only difference was that the Storm Stances looked packed full of explosive power and lacked flexibility but the potential power and speed made up for this disadvantage. Anyway, seeing the constant motion in the Storm stances and thinking about the Blood stances, he couldn''t help but think they held similar advantages while also making up for some of each other''s disabilities. Suddenly, an image sprung up in his mind, it was a vague outline of a man but he was surrounded by an army. He continued walking, slowly, calmly. Like he didn''t know an army was blocking his way. Or that he didn''t care that there was. Around the man, a blood red wind started rotating around him and the army seemed to recoil backward. Fang Xiong was shocked by this. Wasn''t it just a bit of wind? Why was an entire army scared of it? But his questions were answered quite soon. Some infantry in the army seemed to break under the pressure and rushed at him with their weapons raised. The man seemed to be surprised and simply moved forward a bit quicker than before. But he didn''t just get quicker, he disappeared and appeared in front of the infantrymen charging him. He raised his fist and struck out at them and they were simply torn apart. Like wet paper, their bodies were torn apart by the wind pressure from his punch alone, no contact was made. The wind and red color surrounding the man seemed to intensify as he prepared himself to fight. But to Fang Xiong''s eyes, he didn''t see a man anymore, he just saw a Storm of Blood. Suddenly, he was thrown out of the image and recoiled backward, the image of the man''s aura burned into his brain. He couldn''t keep his eyes from widening and his heart beating quickly increasing drastically. Fang Xiong just couldn''t believe people could get this strong. Some people could say what he saw was an illusion, but Fang Xiong knew it was real. He didn''t know where it was from but he trusted his instincts and they screamed that whatever he saw was real and attainable. Not giving him any time to recover, Freya rushed in front of him, her face weirdly close to his and the manic smile on her face only made the situation odder, "You saw it didn''t you?! The man with the Storm of Blood surrounding him, right?!" Fang Xiong could only dumbly nod his head, to which Freya backed away and started boisterously laughing, "Hahahaha! I''ve finally found someone I can teach our Martial Art too, Master!" she continued laughing for a while longer. To do something during the meanwhile, Fang Xiong picked up the Storm Style book and read through its introduction. It was mainly complimented by natural high strength and therefore explosive power and resulted in a person who was akin to a walking storm in combat; unpredictable, wild and indomitable. Like said before, while the Blood Style focuses on being flexible and hard at the same time while attacking from any direction at the vitals of the opponent, with relentless ferocity to take them out, the Storm Style focuses on high-tempo, explosive attacks coming from unpredictable angles aiming to crush the defenses of, and then, the opponent. The Blood Style lacks massive amounts of damage and the Storm Style lacks large amounts of stamina and the ability of prolonged usage, but together they covered each other''s weaknesses incredibly well. While Fang Xiong was reviewing this information, Freya had finally stopped madly cackling to herself and stared intently at Fang Xiong, waiting for him to stop looking at the book. It didn''t take long for this to happen and he quickly looked up at her, wondering what he had to do next. "Well, now that I know you have the talent to see the connections, I can teach you the mixed style that my Master made," she took out another book. It was a dark blue with bright red writing on it, "Do you wish to join this school of martial arts, Fang Xiong?" Seeing the way to a power similar to the man in the images he saw in his head, Fang Xiong quickly nodded his head, his eyes lit up with voracity. Freya beamed him a smile, her eyes filled with equal amounts of eagerness and enthusiasm to his, "Then welcome to the Blood Tempest Style~!" Chapter 16 - Training and Inheritance (Part 1) Since the day he had been inducted into the Blood Tempest Style, Fang Xiong had been training for an entire month in both the martial art and his Primate Forms. Weirdly enough, he experienced a very quick breakthrough to the 5th layer from the 4th layer and he didn''t stop there as he was already at the peak of the 5th layer and was soon to break through the 6th layer. His new teacher, Freya, was constantly flabbergasted by her new student. His training speed was something she''d seen before but the pure tenacity he showed no matter how powerful he became and the way he constantly pushed his limits, was something she found very admirable for a 13-year-old. Fang Xiong figured that the incident at the punching machine and his strength increasing by 500kg had pushed him to the top of the 4th layer of the Houtian Realm and that, along with his great foundation, was why he quickly broke through to the next layer. Other than this theory, Fang Xiong didn''t know exactly what else could have led to his new training speed. Nonetheless, he didn''t just make progress in Cultivation. He''d reached a basic level in the Blood Tempest Martial Art''s stances and could hold his own against a severely handicapped Freya. There were many, many levels to the mastery over the martial art and the few ones Freya had told him were as such: Basic, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Superior. Fang Xiong knew there were levels after this but no matter how much he asked Freya, she wouldn''t tell him. Instead, she told him that she would tell him when he reached Superior Mastery of the Martial Art. In his usual muscle-brained fashion, Fang Xiong didn''t take this as the teasing joke it was meant to be taken as and instead doubled his training on the martial art. He found out that it was especially effective against groups when Freya took him to the Formation Training Rooms. These rooms were massive white rooms filled with special formations which could be activated by a console and the right privileges. The kind of privileges that a teacher at the academy had. The Formations you could summon in the room were on limited by your imagination and Academy Credits. The Formation Freya set up was a simple illusion one, or that''s what Fang Xiong felt up until one of the illusions stabbed him with a sword. It turned out she mixed together a few high-grade illusion formations and some battle-orientated ones and had made an incredibly realistic battlefield for Fang Xiong to train in. So, this is where he has been training his martial art for the past month when he hasn''t been training his body. In fact, it''s where he was training currently. Fang Xiong sat in a desolate battlefield, surrounded by bodies of multiple different races. Blood had made small rives around where he was and slowly but surely started to dye the ground a permanent red. From out of nowhere, a big figure dashed toward the meditating Fang Xiong. The man had red skin and two horn jutting out of his forehead; a Demon. Demons were quite naturally strong and were talented Qi Cultivators and overall fighters, so a big Demon like this, who also seemed to be a trained soldier of some kind, was something worth being wary of. But Fang Xiong continued to sit there and only opened his eyes to look at the charging man. His yellow eyes gave a predatory look to the horned-man and a savage smile slowly worked its way onto his face. He used his newly trained Ki Sense and looked at the man''s cultivation. "Hmm...1st layer of the Xiantian Realm...This should be fun..." Fang Xiong leisurely got up and started stretching his arms and legs while slowly walking toward the man. Despite the Blood Tempest Style being great against groups, it was also very good one-on-one. The art didn''t seem to have any weaknesses to Fang Xiong''s eyes but neither did any of the other mixed-martial-arts Freya had shown him. Seeing the man getting closer, Fang Xiong rid his head of all unnecessary thoughts as he felt a boiling hot feeling build in his chest and flood his body. Feeling this feeling, Fang Xiong wondered what it was. The higher his cultivation, the stronger this feeling became and the more it showed up in his fights. The feeling had one purpose when it spread into his body; to cause a berserk and frenzied state in his body. It was like the feelings one desire to was to destroy everything around him. Fang Xiong made sure to keep the feeling under his control, however. As he knew that he could go as berserk as he wanted, he''d still be taken apart by a skilled and calm martial artist. So that was why Fang Xiong made sure to aim the berserk feeling and keep it away from his mind. He had no Idea how he did this, but he could and it worked for him. By now, the man was right in front of Fang Xiong and he threw out a quick jab toward the teen''s head. Fang Xiong flowed under this jab and using his momentum swung a sharp left hook at the man''s jaw. Caught off guard by Fang Xiong''s speed, the man had no choice but to take the hit and his head was sent flying to the side with a sickening crack. After that, he fell to the floor like a stringless puppet.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. "FREYA! TURN OFF THE LIMITER ON THEM! LET THE SOLDIERS USE THEIR MARTIAL SKILLS!" Fang Xiong seeing the pathetic display of the soldier started to get angry at the memory of Freya saying she''d limit them. What was the point in limiting them? They were supposed to push him further, not die instantly to a counter-punch! "Okay, okay, calm down!" Freya''s voice was slightly omnipresent and came from every direction like some kind of God but Fang Xiong only scowled at what she said. He heard a click and the man''s lifeless body disappeared before two more soldiers sprung up and rushed at him. POV Change - Freya Freya sighed heavily as she looked at her student. She didn''t think he''d progress so quickly and even though she''d seen him progress personally, she was still immensely shocked. His movements and attacks had lost the crudeness they''d had a month ago but kept that untamed ferocity and that unyielding spirit that would never back down only seemed to make the boy even more imposing. She watched her only personal student smiling savagely at the approaching soldiers. Two soldiers at the 2nd Layer of the Xiantian Realm would instantly kill any other 5th Houtian Cultivator but not Fang Xiong, noooo, the little brat had to be an absolute monster and be able to fight above and beyond his cultivation level. Freya watched as Fang Xiong made the first move and slammed his foot on the ground, throwing himself into the air above the soldiers. In the air, he spun head first and outstretched one of his legs and brought it down on top of one of the soldier''s heads. The soldier who was being aimed at brought his arms up in a cross-shaped block and his arms lit up with energy and had a silvery sheen over them; a martial skill. The metallic sheen didn''t seem to deter Fang Xiong in the slightest and he instead lit up with a yellow aura which was centered around his leg. The resulting impact was incredibly loud. *BANG!* The soldier on the defending end sunk into the ground and a soft crunch could be heard from his arms but he held off against the tyrannical strength Fang Xiong possessed, and the soldier even brought one of his legs out of the ground and swung it round to Fang Xiong''s side. Being in the air, Fang Xiong had no choice but to block the attack. His yellow aura flared again but this time around the arms protecting his side. The foot connected with his arm and Fang Xiong was flung away but as he was flying through the air, he grabbed the ground with his arm and slowed himself to a stop. His yellow eyes looked up at the two soldiers who were once again charging at him. His eyes flickered with a manic expression before he also started running to meet their charges. Each of his steps was measured and wasted no energy but that wasn''t to say they were slow. In fact, they were incredibly quick and he sped off in a charge against the soldiers. The soldier''s legs lit up with their respective Qi''s and also sped up. The three of them got closer and closer until they clashed. Both of the soldiers attacked Fang Xiong but from different directions. The soldier from before sent a low kick at Fang Xiong''s legs to knock him off balance while the other soldier sent a strong punch at his chest. Feeling the pressure of both soldiers'' energies on his own, Fang Xiong''s excitement reached new levels and he instantly dropped to the ground. While he was falling to the ground, Fang Xiong grabbed the incoming leg and clasped it with both his hands. Once he secured his grip, he swung his body around and straightened it abruptly, aiming his extending feet at the punching soldier''s face. The speed of the attack was quick and the attack itself was unique, so the soldiers were caught off guard and the targeted one was hit in the face with a devastating blow before being sent flying backward with a sickening crunch. Freya looked at that move with widened eyes, "I can''t believe the fighting instincts this kid has...he really surprises me sometimes..." she was genuinely surprised. And for good reason. She''d seen unique attacks before but that was from soldiers or cultivators who''d been alive for decades, if not centuries, and they had plenty of combat experience to pull off risky moves. But Fang Xiong was a 13-year-old kid who had next to no fighting experience, so to see him successfully pull off these moves spoke massively about his talent for fighting. Back to the fight, the soldier who''s leg Fang Xiong was holding onto, brought his legs high up before slamming it down onto the ground. Fang Xiong countered this by using the momentum from the move and swinging his legs back onto the ground. Once he got a firm footing he used the leftover momentum and lifted the soldier off the ground before slamming him back down into it. The soldier, while dazed was perfectly fine in everything else and was slowly trying to get back up. Fang Xiong who was still holding the man''s leg wasn''t going to allow this and sent out a brutal stomp aimed at the soldier''s head. *Squelch!* Fang Xiong''s foot went straight through the man''s head. POV Change - Fang Xiong The excitement in Fang Xiong''s eyes slowly died out and was replaced by disappointment. He currently had 10000kg in strength, and despite only being in the 5th Layer of the Houtian Realm he had the equivalent power of a Ki Cultivator in the 1st Layer of the Xiantian Realm or a Qi Cultivator in the 5th Layer of the Xiantian Realm. Luckily, he didn''t completely outmatch opponents in the Xiantian Realm as their energies were much more effective, they could use martial skills much more freely and also when it came to Qi Cultivators their speed backed up by a martial skill was many times quicker than what Fang Xiong could produce with his body. The only reason he could beat the illusions in the Formation Rooms was because they were just that; illusions. No matter how good an illusion was, it would never be as good as the real thing and Fang Xiong had gotten used to the illusions way of attacking and his natural reflexes were good enough to help him win, even against the quicker illusions. The formation slowly started fading away before Freya suddenly appeared in front of him, "Hmm...you really need to start fighting real people, the illusions here aren''t pushing you that much anymore and if I raise their cultivations any higher, their pure power will just wipe the floor with you..." Fang Xiong agreed with her, despite his annoyance at how she put it at the end. Freya continued to ponder for a while before speaking again, "Oh well, leave it to me, I''ll figure something out. You just go back to your dorm and cultivate your Ki Control and your Ki Veins, okay?" Fang Xiong nodded at his teacher''s request and slowly started to walk past her. He only hoped she sorted out problem quicker so he could get back to having fun fights as he did in the earlier days of training under her. Chapter 16 - Training and Inheritance (Part 2) Back in his dorm room, Fang Xiong was sitting on his bed and slowly edging his Ki around his body. He did this by splitting a stream of Ki into dozens of smaller lines of Ki and independently moving each of them. "Ahhh, shit...!" but it wasn''t very easy, as could be seen over the past 30 minutes of Fang Xiong trying to complete the training. If one could complete the training without the Ki dissipating, one would officially have superior Ki Control to the average Cultivator. But anything with ''superior'' in the title would never come easily. And so, Fang Xiong had been ardently practicing for a while on this technique and out of the dozens of lines he makes, he can control 10 of them with relative ease while the rest of them seem like oil-covered snakes, alluding his grasp. It seemed to Fang Xiong that 10 lines were a bottleneck of sorts for him, so he knew he had to just stay consistent and practice until he wears the bottleneck down and gains a chance to advance his Ki Control. Fang Xiong let out a sigh before stopping the exercise and starting on a different exercise, one that wasn''t so annoyingly tedious. Ever since a month ago, his teacher, Freya, had been teaching him more advanced stuff compared to his Uncle had all those years ago and one subject of that was Ki Vein Enhancement. The basic premise for Ki Vein Enhancement was that you cultivate your Ki, purifying it and compressing it until it''s dense enough and pure enough to outmatch the quality of your Ki Veins, and then you flood your Ki Veins with the refined energy and the energy will then widen, expand and enhance the overall durability of the Ki Veins. The advantages of this are that you can let more Ki travel through your Ki Veins, at a faster pace and your body even receives a small buff from enhancing the veins. So, Fang Xiong kept his eyes closed and started to bring all his Ki together before looking at it with his inner eye. Weirdly enough, he didn''t need to purify or compress his Ki, his body just upgraded the quality of the Ki constantly, without Fang Xiong even having to go through the processes usually needed for it to do so. After speaking with Freya as well, he''d found out that his body also seemed to constantly produce more and more energy, like a generator. Freya even went as far to say that he has about 50% more Ki than someone at his level and the quality of the Ki is much higher than average. This knowledge did cause a bit of pride to swell up in Fang Xiong''s chest, but it was soon squashed by the memories of his fight with Xiao Mei. His Ki could be as strong as he wanted but if his body wasn''t at a higher level, he''d be pummeled into the ground when he goes to beat the reasons of Xiao Mei''s changes out of Xiao Mei and her friends. Pushing such thoughts out of his mind, Fang Xiong got on with the Ki Vein Enhancement. He slowly, inch by inch, directed his mass of Ki through his Veins, expanding them and also leaving behind a little bit of his yellow ki to nourish the Ki Vein. You''d think they''d already get nourished by the Ki traveling through them every day but surprisingly they don''t. Mainly because the Ki travels too fast and doesn''t settle in the Vein like what Fang Xiong is having it do now but also because Ki does what it''s told, if a cultivator tells their Ki to reinforce their arm, it will reinforce their arm instead of enhancing the Ki Vein it is in. Fang Xiong continued to slowly push his Ki through his Veins and slowly but surely increased their durability while also giving his constitution a bit of a buff. He also seemed to find that there were smaller Ki Veins that he didn''t use very often. Fang Xiong thought about what he read about Ki Veins in the library all that time ago. There are two kinds of Ki Vein in the body, Main Veins, which are the Veins Fang Xiong uses to transport his Ki around his body to reinforce it, and the other type which are called Auxillary Veins, these Veins are dormant and not used by most Cultivators and because of that people just leave them alone. But Fang Xiong was curious about what would happen if he expanded the Veins and flooded them with Ki when they were ready. Would he gain a bigger buff than the Main Veins gave? He pushed the thought to the back of his mind and figured he''d have to ask his teacher what would happen if he tried it. He didn''t try it now because, for all he knew, he could die if he messes up on the expanding of the Veins. After another hour, Fang Xiong finally finished improving the quality of his Ki Veins and could feel their strength and ability to withstand a lot of pressure, "That should be good enough--" as he was speaking he heard a small beep and he went silent. Slowly, he got off his bed and gradually moved into a combat stance. Another beep went off and this time he was ready for it and using his keen senses, he pinpointed the sound to something under his bed. Eyes twitching, Fang Xiong realized what the beeping was and lifted his bed up to look at what was causing the noise. He saw the box his dad had given to him before he left a month ago and could see that a red light on the front of the black box was slowly flashing. Picking it up with his free hand, Fang Xiong put the bed back down and sat on it before trying to open to the box. When he by chance put his finger on the red light, it flashed, flooding the room in red light and almost blinding Fang Xiong. When Fang Xiong''s vision slowly came back and wasn''t just the color red, he saw what was inside the box. It looked like a tube with a button on one end and a small hole on the other end, it was all white in color. Fang Xiong picked it up and suddenly a flash appeared out of the box. Expecting another flash of light, Fang Xiong instantly closed his eyes before slowly opening them a second or two later feeling pretty embarrassed and also happy that no one was around to see his humiliating behavior of flinching at a light.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Shrugging off the thoughts of his behavior, Fang Xiong looked at what had appeared from the light. It seemed to be some kind of screen made of light and it had sentences on it, sort of like a hologram but much more solid looking. Taking himself away from how it looked, Fang Xiong decided to read the writing on it. Dear Fang Xiong, It''s time you learned about who you really are, my son. Place that tube on the back of your head, with the hole facing the skin and the button away from it, and then press the button. It''ll sting but you will learn about where you came from. But always remember Xiong''er, you are my son, forever and always, no matter your heritage. Sincerely, your Father, Fang Shen. Seeing what was written, he could tell his Father seemed to pour a lot of emotion into it and it made Fang Xiong smile, the feeling of affection feeling much better than the cruel feelings Xiao Mei had given him. But past that, Fang Xiong read about the part that said "It''s time you learned who you really are" and his smile slipped off his face and he looked at the writing with a more serious expression. He read through the instructions and looked at the device in his hand. He looked conflicted for a few seconds but ultimately decided to trust his father and put the tube into position behind his head. "I hope I do not regret this, father..." a pained expression passed over Fang Xiong''s face and he pressed down on the button. *Fchsshhh!* Like it said in the hologram, Fang Xiong felt a prick of pain in his head but that pain was overrun by some kind of liquid entering his skull and gifting him with something; Memories. Pictures and images, tastes and sounds flooded his senses and caused a kind of sensory overload, causing Fang Xiong''s eyes to roll back into his head and for him to pass out. This seemed like it was meant to happen, however, as Fang Xiong was fine, he was in a blank space looking at a shadowy figure. Slowly but surely the shadowy figure started becoming more corporeal and appeared as a person in front of him. The man was tall, much taller than him and his father, he was easily 7ft tall and his frame was filled with muscle. The man had a mane of wild, spikey black hair worn in back down his shoulders. His black eyes shone with a kind light but hidden beneath that was brutality which said he would do whatever needed to get what he wanted to be done. To add to his already imposing appearance, the man was covered in scars with a prominent ''X'' across his left side of his chest and another one that stood out was a scar stretching from his cheekbone to his jaw. Both scars made it so everyone who saw him knew that he was very battle hardened. Fang Xiong cautiously looked up at the man who wasn''t that far from him anymore as the man slowly walked over to him and stood in front of Fang Xiong. "Hello, my son, my name is Broly and I''m your father," the man''s voice was slow and he didn''t seem incredibly literate but Fang Xiong understood what was said clearly and was shocked solid by what the man said. The man didn''t seem to see Fang Xiong''s shock and simply carried on, "I must apologize but your mother and I had to send you off before we could name you, I hope you can forgive me for not giving you a Saiyan name." Fang Xiong simply didn''t understand anything the man was saying and backed away from the figure in front of him, clearly wanting to deny the information that was being presented to him. The man, seemingly not bothered by Fang Xiong backing away, had a look of realization on his face, "Ah, you probably don''t know you''re a Saiyan, do you?" unconsciously, Fang Xiong just shook his head, feeling incredibly confused. The man simply lifted his hand and a spiral of light rushed at Fang Xiong and into his head. Once the light entered Fang Xiong''s head, he saw images, names and places, no planets. He fell to his knees and clutched at his head. Currently, he was trying to not scream in pain, his pride not allowing him, but the feeling, and subsequent pain, of his head being stuffed beyond its limits was slowly chipping away at his pride. After a few agonizing minutes, Fang Xiong could finally breathe again without his brain hurting. When he opened his eyes, he felt all kinds of information in his head. He closed his eyes again and looked through the bigger parts of the information. He saw a faceless man, wild black hair, muscular body, and a tail just like his own. He knew this man was a Saiyan now, and he had all the same traits as this man, so what did that make him? A Saiyan, just like the man. He opened his eyes and looked at the man who called himself Broly, called himself Fang Xiong''s father. He saw that the man didn''t have a tail, but the black spikey hair and the savage black eyes told him all he needed to know; That he was from a race of Warriors. Not from the world, he was currently on now but a different world entirely. All of these realizations caused Fang Xiong to go into a catatonic state where he just thought about things. First, he thought about his foster-father, Fang Shen. Fang Xiong always knew Fang Shen wasn''t his real father - He may have been stupid but he wasn''t that dense. But if he never had solid proof, such as him finding his biological parents, he could always fool himself into believing he really was a part of the Fang family. But now, that thinking was finally shattered and he couldn''t hide from the fact that he was the black sheep of the family. His heart ached for a few moments before he stood up again, this time with a cold face, unlike his face when he read the hologram and smiled at his dad''s affection, no, this face was devoid of that kind of happiness. For now at least. Broly began to speak once again, but it was unlike he ever had to stop beforehand, more like he was put on pause like a video, "So, you now know what you''re a part of, yes? Good, forget it for now at least, it is meaningless, you''ll never meet another Saiyan where you hopefully are," Broly''s face scrunched up, obviously reliving some hard memories but it soon relaxed," Which is a good thing, my son, as our race is quite a violent one..." Broly looked the side and smiled while extending his arm, "But, not all Saiyans are horrible. Me? I am a troubled Saiyan, your mother on the other hand..." a relatively more slender hand grabbed Broly''s and appeared out of nowhere in front of Fang Xiong, "Is one of the rare Saiyans who is both strong and kind. She''s also incredibly smart, unlike me!" Broly had a silly smile on his face as he looked back and forth between Fang Xiong and the woman at his side. The woman bashfully smiled and playfully hit Broly on his arm. Suddenly, seeing them together, Fang Xiong remembered the dream he had all those years ago. This was that couple. He''d always shrugged off that dream as simply that - a dream - so it had taken him a bit of time to remember them. But now he did. Fang Xiong was frozen in disbelief, feeling like some kind of identity crisis was taking hold of him. Before he could stop it, he blurted out, "So, you two are my parents...?" neither of them answered him. It was if they didn''t hear him, but in his emotional state, Fang Xiong didn''t realize this and spoke again, a bit more loudly, "You two are my parents? Then why did you send me off?" Again, there was no answer. "ANSWER ME!" Fang Xiong roared, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at the loving couple in front of him. His eyes screamed for answers. As if to reply to him, they looked in his direction. The woman released herself from Broly''s embrace and walked a few steps to Fang Xiong, "I bet you''re wondering why your true parents abandoned you, right? Then let me tell you why we did it and why it saved your life..."
