《The Haughty Transmigrator》 Chapter 1.1 Memories flashed through Matheus¡¯ eyes when he awoke, ones that didn¡¯t fit with the life he had up till his supposed death. As he processed what he just saw, he understood where the pain he felt came from. Whether he liked the revelation however, was an entirely different story. The memories came from a young lady named Sylvia Maxwell, daughter to an influential noble house of Roan Kingdom. Her mother was sickly and died upon giving birth to her, making Duke Maxwell treat her like his most precious treasure. In simple words, she was heavily doted upon since she came to life. Even when she grew arrogant because of the treatment, the man didn¡¯t stop spoiling her like a princess. It didn¡¯t help that she was born under the [Grand Wizard] job-class, ensuring her future as an important individual wherever she went. With her potential, the rest as well joined in singing praise which further inflated her ego. That led to a heated confrontation with her fianc¨¦, the second prince. Enraged, the boy ordered for her to be assassinated during one of her outdoor excursions. There was no proof but that¡¯s what she believed when her petite body was thrown over a cliff. The fourteen year old girl lost consciousness afterward and she was no longer the same when she woke up, or rather, the Elemental Lord was in her body. How it happened, Matheus wasn¡¯t certain. His specialty lies in elemental magic, not soul magic. There was also space magic involved, one at a level where world crossing was possible. Yes, based on the girl¡¯s memories, Matheus was most likely in a different world. ¡°Haaa,¡± he sighed at the absurdity of the situation. He has seen many things as he aimed to be the best magician of all time but nothing comes close to what he currently faces. The seemingly insignificant action quickly caused him greater pain. The girl drifted in the ocean for god knows how long until she ended up in the shore, of course she would be in a severe condition. Matheus tried to move around, observing the place while he was at it. The result ¨C he could barely move his body. He could probably reach the forest within his sight if he pushed it but that would eat away what he had left. Drained of all energy, he would surely meet his demise. Drinking water from the sea didn¡¯t enter his mind. He was already bloated from consuming too much, why would he want more? He didn¡¯t even want to eat. He just wanted to hide from the searing heat of the sun. What was the point of entering someone¡¯s body if he would die minutes after waking up?The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Cursing his luck, he closed his eyes. If death was inevitable, might as well welcome it with open arms. It would be great if his death was more impressive though. He should¡¯ve met his end when the fools from theArcaneTower ganged up on him, at least that he could be proud of. He fell short from his original goal but people would remember him as one of the greatest. He,a so-called filthy commoner, surpassed the unsurpassable nobles. Without anyone¡¯s help, he proved that the praises from his loved ones weren¡¯t unfounded ¨C he was a genius. Imagining the proud looks his parents and friends would give him, he smiled. His efforts definitely bore fruit. Now it was time to reunite with them in the afterlife. He slowly became one with the world, only to be hindered at the final step. Something kept hitting his chest, the force getting stronger with each contact. Soon, pain spread throughout his body and his eyes shot open to see the culprit ¨C it was a young man with tanned skin, and the guy¡¯s lips were connected to his. Before he could feel shame, a chunk off water rushed out of his throat. He turned to the side and let the water flow out while the young man helped him position himself to ease the pain. While it was a nasty experience, he felt a bit better once it was over. It alleviated the rage of losing one¡¯s first kiss to someone from the same gender. Matheus even felt grateful. That however, was short-lived as his savior shoved an unknown pill into his throat. Having been on the verge of death, he immediately lost his reason and only saw the negatives of the event. The young man must die by his hands! Unfortunately he was too tired to exact his revenge. He could only stare daggers at the person returning his anger with a relieved smile. You¡¯ll pay for this, I swear!

Shifting from fury to surprise used the last of Matheus¡¯ strength so he finally collapsed. What is¡ that¡? Chapter 1.2 Sylvia Maxwell grabbed a handful of hair and sighed as she stared at the long silver strands. Loosening her grip, they slid down from her rosy white hand, brushing the pair of small mounds on her chest as they fell. Half-dreading, she raised the brown skirt she doesn¡¯t recall wearing and let her emerald eyes view the forbidden scenery. While the sight was within expectations, she couldn¡¯t prevent herself from being disheartened. Her shoulders slumped and her petite figure fell back to the bed of hay. She gave all her attention to her goal so she didn¡¯t put much importance to her manhood. But now that it was gone, her soul screamed as if it suffered a great loss. She was a man. She needed a sword, not a sheath. It didn¡¯t help that she had no idea how she ended up in her current body. Perhaps if she was still in her home world she could push the blame onto someone. However, she was in a different world. There was no level or job-class in her world nor were there dungeons that seem to spawn monsters endlessly. The places within the original Sylvia¡¯s memories were also too many and too spread out to be hidden from the world where she originated. She was definitely in a different one. She may also be in an alternate timeline, but for the moment, it would be best to stick with her first theory. It wouldn¡¯t do much to change the situation anyway, and she has other things to worry about. Her mind jumped back to the time when she lost her first kiss. She knew the young man was just trying to help, especially after waking up in a decent bed, clothed and her purity intact. Despite that, it wasn¡¯t easy for her to forget what happened. She would most likely hold a grudge for it, but she would try to suppress the feeling and thank the young man for saving her life. She was a genius, not a tyrant like the other lords. She could differentiate between right and wrong and prefer siding with the former. Besides, the guy¡¯s level was higher than hers and she was in his territory. If she doesn¡¯t behave she may just lose her head before she could decide what action to take. She remembered the young man¡¯s status and began to ask how she saw it. The original Sylvia shouldn¡¯t have the ability to see the status of others. Did it truly occur or was it just a figment of her imagination? Given her state back then, the latter seems more plausible. Is there a way to test? How does it work?
<>If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. Something appeared minutes after trying various ways to check her status. At first she was delighted by her success, but the feeling was quickly replaced by shock when she noticed the changes in her parameters. Her drop in level aside, she has a different job-class. A person¡¯s job-class is set at birth, it shouldn¡¯t change! And what¡¯s with her skills? When did she get so many?! Lost in thoughts, she heard a creak and turned towards the door of the small hut. She expected to see her savior and wasn¡¯t disappointed. The young man came, his golden eyes pointing at her direction. He smiled upon seeing her awake. He approached with a friendly expression and sent a casual greeting. To her horror, she didn¡¯t understand what he said. ¡°What was that?¡± she asked in the original Sylvia¡¯s language. When the guy showed a look of surprise, she tried with her own native tongue. ¡°What did you say?¡± That didn¡¯t work also, so she decided to use the ancient language of the spirits. ¡°Can you understand me?¡± And of course it was still a failure. Left with no way to communicate, she let her stomach do the talking. Wait, that¡¯s not right! She didn¡¯t order it to growl! She¡¯s a genius, not a glutton! Bad stomach, bad! After giving her mischievous tummy a reprimanding glare, she reluctantly raised her head, afraid to see what expression the young man now wore. Instead of amusement however, he gave an understanding look and left the hut in a hurry. She watched his departing back, unsure what to make of the event until he returned with a large bamboo plate full of newly cooked meat. I- I... ¡°Thank you?¡± The young man just kept smiling as he placed the plate on the ground, close to her bed. He also pulled the bamboo container from his waist and put it beside the plate. Utterly confused, she sat up and stared at the food. Was it poisoned? She didn¡¯t know but even if it was there was nothing she could do. With her current power she couldn¡¯t go against the guy in front of her. Furthermore, she felt a pang of guilt seeing the anxious yet expectant look on his face. Since she was unable to make a judgment, her stomach shared its opinion. She began cursing all known gods from her world as the color of shame painted her cheeks. She wanted to bury herself in a hole but didn¡¯t want to ruin her image any further. What a great day to die. This is going to be a long and tiring day isn¡¯t it? Chapter 1.3 While Sylvia specializes in elemental magic, she does have knowledge in other fields. As one of the top magicians of her world she at least knows spells that practitioners of the arcane deem necessary. Among them she has a few language translation spells. Unfortunately she doesn¡¯t have enough energy to use even the weakest one. It would take her a week to cast with her current level of power. Maybe her [Quick Mana Recovery] skill could help but completing it in one day was impossible. Wanting to test the skill, she created a sphere of water and placed her hands inside. Adding a bit more energy, she commanded it to rub the stain ¨C caused by eating bare handed ¨C off. Once they were clean, she pulled out, not letting a single drop leave. She dug a hole via magic afterward then threw the dirty water in before closing it. The result ¨C she drained around ten percent of her overall mana. And upon observation, she noticed her recovery was indeed fast. Compared to the original Sylvia and even her former identity, her natural healing, in proportion to her current strength, was much better. If it stays the same as she regains her strength as the Elemental Lord she could probably cast spells at master class and below endlessly. Her problem however, remains the same. She needs more than a day to acquire the solution. Until then communication would be a major hassle. If only her level didn¡¯t drop to one. No screw that! How did she end up in the girl¡¯s body?! Sighing in frustration, she strode to the edge of the small hut and began drawing on the ground. Since it was rigid, she had to turn the area where she draws the magic formation into mud. Whenever she finishes, she reverts the area back to its original state and does the same for the following parts. The act continued until she exhausted herself. By then half of the formation was done. If things go well it should be ready for activation in a few days. I hope nothing bad happens. She went back to her bed, throwing all traces of dirt on her hand with magic as she did. When she was finally in her small sanctuary, she started reassessing her ability. After an hour of two of working there was no more room for questions. Altering the ground took less energy than normal. The spell she used earlier was also the same, aside the water¡¯s creation. If her theory was correct, controlling an element that already existed was less taxing for her thanks to her [Elemental Manipulation] skill.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. To further prove the idea, she produced a sphere of wind and a sphere of water after resting. The first she made by gathering the wind in her temporary residence. The other she made purely from her own energy. As expected, the former drained only half of what the latter did. Satisfied with the knowledge, she moved on to her [Elemental Fusion] skill. She combined the two spells and produced an orb of ice. She presumed that her attempt would burn half of the energy it usually does. To her surprise, it didn¡¯t take anything at all. T- This¡ is great! A creaking sound snapped her out of her reverie. She turned to the source and saw a familiar face ¨C who else could it be aside from her benefactor? In a somewhat good mood, she smiled at the young man only to notice him staring wide-eyed at the orb floating inches away from her. ¡°What? Have you never seen magic before?¡± Getting no response, she absorbed the water aspect of the orb then mimicked the young man¡¯s face due to a certain revelation ¨C she could also absorb the wind! It wasn¡¯t made by her yet it was actually getting converted into mana! What in the world?! The two youths stared at each other, an expression of shock plastered on their faces. Soon, the guy asked what she was doing through facial expressions and she glared in response. I don¡¯t know! Ignoring her unjust reaction, the young man looked around, his eyes tracing the incomplete formation on the ground. She didn¡¯t know how to explain herself so this time she simply scratched the back of her head and smiled. Sorry? Sighing, her savior shot her a questioning look as he tapped his stomach. Feeling offended, she glared again. I¡¯m not a glutton! Unfortunately her stomach was in its rebellious stage. It whined quite loudly, replacing her irritation with shame. Y- You stupid stomach! Why are you always doing this at the worst possible time? Chapter 1.4 Night came in the blink of an eye. Aware of the girl¡¯s hunger, Karim didn¡¯t bother asking and went to her hut with a feast for dinner. ¡°You¡¯re back,¡± the girl spoke, stopping him in his track. Did he hear that correctly? ¡°You can speak our language?¡± ¡°I cast a spell that would allow anyone inside the hut to understand each other.¡± It was hard to believe but the proof was right in front of his eyes so he didn¡¯t refute her words. Instead, he came closer, eager to speak with his tribe¡¯s final hope. How did she end up in the sea? How did she pass through the barrier isolating the island from the rest of the world? How would she react when she hears their circumstance? ¡°Thank you for the food,¡± she said when he gave her dinner. ¡°And thank you for saving me.¡± Her sincere words made him feel a bit guilty. He didn¡¯t save her because he wanted to help. It has been a decade and a half since the last woman of the tribe died. They needed someone to bear their children and she fits the requirement. Judging by the girl¡¯s size, she was around ten years old. She still has a few years before the tribe begins asking her to produce the next generation. Until then, he would do his best to make her happy so when the time comes she would willingly accept her role as the tribe¡¯s mother. Unlike earlier, he stayed after delivering the girl food. Now that they could talk he wanted to ask some questions. ¡°Who are you?¡± The girl raised a brow as she answered, ¡°I¡¯m Milla, an ordinary mage. And you are?¡± ¡°I¡¯m Karim, an elite warrior.¡± Saying one¡¯s occupation along with the name was probably a part of her culture so he did the same. He wanted her to feel at home so he decided to follow her traditions until she was prepared to adapt to theirs. ¡ ¡°We should use her to defeat the guardian,¡± the third son of the tribe leader said. ¡°Do you even hear what you¡¯re saying, Koga? You want the only person in the island that could prevent our extinction to fight the monster that wiped out the elite warriors of our tribe years ago? Even if we helped it would be impossible. We¡¯re not as strong as the previous generation, just give up.¡± The second son Kael reasoned.Stolen story; please report. ¡°But if we succeed we could leave this island and find more women for the tribe!¡± ¡°It¡¯s not about the reward, third brother. The risk is simply too high. You have to remember, there were magicians in our tribe before yet we still lost miserably. I doubt a single magician could perform better.¡± The first son Kashim stated. The discussion between the three eldest siblings continued while the twelve other siblings sat silently on their seats. Each was under one of the three and the opinion of their leaders was the same as theirs so they didn¡¯t dare to join the conversation. Only the youngest sibling Karim could voice his thoughts since he wasn¡¯t affiliated with any group and was the one who found the girl. ¡°Enough,¡± the tribe leader¡¯s voice resounded in the meeting hall. Once the three quieted down, the old man turned to look at Karim and asked ¡°As the one who brought the girl into our tribe, you have the final say in the matter.¡± Everyone¡¯s mood immediately soured apart from a certain musclehead. Karim has always been the favorite so of course the tribe leader would listen to him. They would¡¯ve killed him a long time ago if it wasn¡¯t for the old man¡¯s protection. ¡°I want her to stay away from danger but Milla herself has expressed her wish to grow stronger. She still has a few years before she becomes an adult so I suggest we let her train until then. We could make a decision again after we see how much she improves. For her mate, let¡¯s allow her to pick who she wants when she reaches the proper age.¡± ¡°Wouldn¡¯t she choose you for saving her life?¡± The eldest son asked. ¡°Anyone can approach her and try to win her heart. But no one,¡± blood lust seeped out of his skin. ¡°I repeat, no one can force or manipulate her.¡± Everyone aside from the three eldest siblings and the tribe leader paled. ¡°If anyone tries I wouldn¡¯t hesitate to kill.¡± The deadly aura grew thicker, making his two eldest brothers sweat a bit. The tribe leader smiled for a split second then clapped his hands. An invisible force spread throughout the meeting hall, completely overriding the tense atmosphere caused by Karim. ¡°Are there any complaints?¡± When no one responded, the discussion came to an end ¨C everyone went back to their respective huts with the exception of the tribe leader, Karim, and an excited Koga. ¡°Third brother, what-¡± ¡°I volunteer to be the girl¡¯s sparring partner! With my help she would surely become the greatest warrior!¡± ¡°She¡¯s a magician,¡± Karim reminded him. The bear-like man went into deep thought. After a few moments, Koga happily proclaimed ¡°nothing is impossible if you have the spirit! If I try my best it will work out somehow!¡± ¡°¡¡± ¡°¡¡± ¡°Come on father, I know the fires of vengeance in your heart have yet to fade! Let us descend to the lowest level of the dungeon and vanquish the core guardian!¡± ¡°¡¡± ¡°¡¡± Chapter 1.5 With nothing to do in the morning Sylvia stayed in bed, pondering what to do with her new life. She was satisfied with how her previous one ended and the people who mocked her have died long ago. Should she still aim for the same goal? If not, what other goal could she pursue? Her life revolved around magic before. Perhaps this time she could try becoming a warrior? She chuckled at the idea. She was an arcane lord, there was no way she could be a warrior, even more so now that she was restricted by a job-class. Her growth would always be focused on her magic stats. Any effort she puts in improving her physical abilities would be wasted. She¡¯d be more successful as a magic knight. I wonder how I look with armor. Imagining a small girl covered from head to toe in steel, she began giggling. When she noticed what she was doing however, her joyous mood was instantly replaced by dread. She hastily looked around and sighed in relief when she found no one. Good, nobody saw her giggle¡ it would be bad for her image if someone did. Covering her mouth as she coughed a few time, she sat up with a straight posture and closed her eyes. After a while, she began taking deep breaths while repeating the words ¡°I¡¯m Elemental Lord Matheus¡± in her mind. And then, the door burst open... making her squeal. Her face paled at the shameful display but she managed to compose herself before the culprit could see her expression. Karim, you are so- who are you? Instead of the young man that usually brings her food, a huge man entered her home. Karim was half a meter taller than her yet the guy was even bigger than him. He also has a muscular build, making Sylvia feel like an insignificant existence. Was she a dwarf or was the guy a giant? ¡°You¡¯re already awake?! Good!¡± The bear-like man spoke with vigor as he approached, stopping only a foot away from her stupefied body. When she finally became aware of what was happening the man was kneeling in front of her, his golden eyes meeting her pair of emerald head-on. ¡°I can see it, your wish to-¡±This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. A foot connected with the man¡¯s face before he could finish his sentence, sending his colossal body to a wall. ¡°Stop it, third brother. You¡¯re scaring her.¡± Sylvia stared at the body buried under the collapsed part of her hut. Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, she turned to see a smiling Karim. ¡°Please forgive my brother. He doesn¡¯t mean any harm.¡± Not me, apologize to your brother! ¡ After covering the hole in her residence with earth, Sylvia turned to the two kneeling warriors. ¡°Is there anything you wish to say?¡± And I thought Karim was a sensible guy. ¡°I¡¯m sorry,¡± Karim was the first to apologize. ¡°I¡¯m sorry,¡± the still unnamed guy followed suit, his cheerful expression replaced by a solemn one. ¡°I accept the apology. You¡¯re both lucky I¡¯m a generous person.¡± She was afraid of fighting them but of course she would never admit that. Karim could crush her and the other guy was stronger than him.

¡°What brings you here, sir?¡± She asked Koga. ¡°I came to see a potential comrade,¡± the large man beamed. ¡°And I¡¯m impressed. You¡¯re not there yet but I can see potential in you. I¡¯m sure of it. Together we can conquer the dungeon!¡± ¡°A dungeon you say?¡± ¡°Yeah, there¡¯s a dungeon at the center of the island, and at the deepest level lies the core which powers the barrier that isolates us from the rest of the world. If we can destroy that-¡± ¡°How far is it from here?¡± ¡°It should be around six to seven days away by foot? Why, are you interested?¡± ¡°I can¡¯t say I¡¯m not,¡± she noticed Karim twitch. ¡°Actually, I wish to go there right now.
