《Here there be monsters》
Prologue
On the west coasts of Kikua, south of Damor, and west of Kada castle, deep within an area between the Silent jungle, and the Blightfen river, lay a dungeon. Far down, beneath the crust of the earth, A young woman was walking along down a path cut through a hallway, her boots clumping against the stone causing echoes all around her and all through the hall. Her torch was trying to light the shadowy hall but failing, as her shadow created flickering devils on the walls. Five hours she had been here, exploring, seeking treasure, and finding only rat hordes and bat swarms, and not a single piece of loot in sight.
However, although her luck was bad she was at least still leveling which was better than dying or not leveling at all. Just a bit more and I¡¯m out of here, no more parents trying to set me up with a guy, no more teachers refusing to teach me because I''m weak, and no more people underestimating me just because I''m a woman. She began to jog after having the thought of going to greener hills. She jogged down further and further into the maze-like dungeon. Far down she went, farther than most maps showed, in her frivelous pursuit of wealth and adventure.
The young woman, named Luca, came across a fork in the road. She began to look around her for clues as to where to go. any tracks of monsters, any previous adventuring marks that her elders may have put up in previous times. but alas, there were none.Yup, I''m lost, thank the gods for portal keys. The small rune-inscribed stone would whisk her away to safety in an instant should the need arise. Although the usefulness of such a thing could not be understated, the complacency and carelessness it taught young adventurers was less than useful.
She began to walk down the left path and almost immediately began to notice a change in the road as the stone gave way to mud and grass on the ground, and on the walls, ivy began its relentless pursuit of light that wasn''t there. Moving onward she saw something quite out of place in a jungle but not in a dungeon, Something brown and strangely rectangular. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Ooh, A chest! Lucky! A simple wooden box with no lock. The dungeon randomly spewed these out, sometimes containing useful items and gear that could be a veritable jackpot for an enterprising young adventurer. Not this one though - the wooden chests in this dungeon offered the lowest grade of loot. Most of them contained bottom-tier potions or maybe moldy bread. The best she could hope to get out of this would be an Iron Ring that provided a negligible bonus to a random stat. Still, beggars can''t be choosers.
Just as she was about to open the chest a clank went off about 5 feet to the right of her, Luca immediately hopped backward and looked towards where the sound came from, but when she looked she saw nothing. Luca then began to draw her short sword as her eyes flickered left to right scanning the whole room for possible dangers.
Just as she loosened up her guard a bit a scythe was shoved into her spine as her attacker made itself known to her. A long lithe body, no face, but rather a mask of flesh with the smallest eyes possible, and an ever-expanding gape of flesh and teeth that can be barely considered a mouth. With two large scythe-like appendages protruding from its back, and tentacles replacing its calves, it looked like no monster that would normally be in such a low-level dungeon. There beneath the two scythes, lay two muscular arms, both well equipped with long protruding claws that could so easily pierce the flesh of any organic. Luca could do nothing as she watched the world turn black, and as she slowly slid off the blade that had pierced her spine, and the claw that crushed her heart.
The creature simply watched, with bored amusement, while a blue box appeared in front of it.

Hunter 1
The Wraith after it finished eating, went back to looking for more food. while the tall things were very good they were both a bit rarer and a bit more difficult to kill, even with hiding and sneak attacks. The Wraith loved hunting, especially delicious food. it liked feeling the food settle in her stomach and just keep her full till she finished eating but that was perfectly normal as most Wraiths are gluttons to the extreme, in all aspects of life. be it food, sex, money, or just living. Wraiths loved all of life, especially when they got to kill it.
"Come on Ilom, maybe we will find a couple of chests." The voice made the Wraith freeze in place before moving to a corner to hide leaving its head out so it could see what was coming. "Come on now lass, my legs aren''t anywhere near the length needed to keep up with you. Add my age and you will out walk me every time." The Wraith managed to turn its head around to corner and saw 2 beings coming down the hall. One of them about six feet tall with a pale face, purple eyes, and waist length raven black hair. She was walking with a long wooden staff and she is wearing cotton robes which could barely hold back the pair of breasts that swayed with her every movement. The second person is about 4 feet tall with a beard that covered his face, enough to slightly muffle his voice. He carried a greatsword sized scimitar on his back and was wearing heavy armor.
They were both walking and talking as if there was nothing at all wrong with where they were. The Wraith naturally knew that if it were to fight them it would not be an easy fight, especially in an upfront confrontation of them where they were both VERY ready to kill it, so naturally, it had to rely on its abilities to sneak and attack from behind. So it''s little hunt began as it slowly but surely followed the two as they talked about random little things in life completely unaware of their stalker and hunter. Soon they both stopped to rest as they had been walking for what was presumably hours before the Wraith had found them.
*****
"Did you hear that Luca decided to come down here and try to become an adventurer as well?" the woman asked, with a wry smile on her face. "really? that little lass? the last time I saw her she was shorter than I was!" the dwarf said with a hearty laugh "don''t worry about her she will soon understand exactly what adventurers have to deal with, then she will come home crying about what happened during her little trial run" he soon said after with a little twinkle in his eye and a caring smile on his face.
the woman looked at Ilom with a scowl as she said "Oh yeah? well, what happens if she encounters something that she can''t handle? you know as well as I that although anyone can easily kill these rats and bats, if they become a horde then they can kill quite a number of people" The dwarf with the name of Ilom says back "Then she will run, she knows herself well and if she sees a fight she can''t beat then she will run." he said with a wave of hands as if it was extremely simple. The woman stared back at him with a hard gaze and finally just sighed and said "I''m tired right now, do you mind taking a watch while I take a quick nap?" while walking back to her tent obviously with no intention of letting him answer or refuse.
Ilom just stared at the tent she went into and with a low chuckle started to build a small fire and keep watch. About 4-5 hours later Ilom himself was beginning to nod off, he was able to tell because he kept hallucinating different animals. Like putting a dog and elephant together, or a cat and a monkey, but the worst was this one that popped up every now and again. It looked like a real nightmare and it was always getting somewhat closer each time it saw it. it looked both like and unlike a human except, as its head was smaller than a humans head in height but was longer and faceless except for the mouth which covered most of its face in height. Said mouth was made of three parts, a top and a bottom which was split in two giving it a triangular look to it while its teeth were completely unaligned and while none crossed over others it was still messy. But although it was messy each one was undeniably sharp enough to pierce through plate metal, thighs but instead of calves its 3 tentacles, and an extra pair of arms above its original ones with scythe-like appendages on the end of them. It had 4 fingers that were home to long claws that look like they were made to slice and dice the flesh. On its back were fleshy spines that simply bobbed along with its movements. til one point it was close enough to touch, feeling like seeing how far this hallucination goes he tried to touch it and to his utter shock, instead of passing through it touched the white skin it had. it felt both smooth like silk while also feeling calloused like a lumberjacks hand at the same time. then Ilom froze as his eyes began to widen he had just enough time to realize that it wasn''t a hallucination but rather a monster before he was stabbed in the neck by a scythe. This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. The Wraith not really understanding what was going on (as this had never happened before) kept trying to figure out what it was supposed to do before it remembered, There was another person here, and the falling body was pretty damn loud with all that heavy armor on.
Immediately the Wraith looked around it and turned just in time as to see Doxen start to move out of her tent to see what the commotion was. She returned just in time to look up and see the Wraith staring straight at her, its mouth unhinged, its scythes before it looking devilish before finally her gaze landed on the body on the ground. She froze and slowly her eyes widened.
Unfortunately for her those few seconds that she had frozen, the Wraith flew over with its scythes pulled back ready to be shot out at her head. Doxen noticed, albeit a bit late and dodged the attack, however, she was hit on the shoulder, not enough to cut through bone but enough to cut through most muscle and veins in her shoulder (which if you didn''t know are A LOT).
| Critical Damage done to target. HP- 84 |
"AIEEEEE!" She screamed out in pain as her muscles were torn and shredded like cheese on a grinder. Blood began immediately spilling out of her shoulder as she fell to the ground clutching it. She watched is abject horror as her attacker slowly floated on over to her with a smile that would give madmen a run for their money. She immediately tried backing up away from the monster which could murder her with not but a swing of its hand.
Slowly but surely the monster made its way to the woman who in comparison was much smaller as while she stood at six feet tall the Wraith stood at 8. Once the Wraith was next to her she grabbed her throat and lifted her up before her before widening her mouth and beginning to swallow her alive. "NOO!, PLEASE I BEG YOU." Doxen immediately began to struggle against her captor with maximum effort. while begging for mercy, Unfortunately, the monster only continued swallowing her with a fierce fire in its almost nonexistent eyes, as if angry with her for simply trying to beg, as if it was disgusted with her behavior. As she is a mage she isn''t exactly strong in the physical sense and she only helped in quickening her pace towards the Wraith¡¯s stomach acids.
The Wraith watched in almost orgasmic pleasure as the prey she had been stalking was now struggling to get out of her stomach, her little punches were getting weaker and weaker over time to the point where it now tickled to be punched by the woman. while heading back to a wall the Wraith looked around it and saw no one near, so it took its claw and slowly pushed into a small part of the wall. Surprisingly the wall gave way and a foot to the left opened up. It was a hidden passageway. The wraith thought nothing of it and went through the door, and closed it behind her. Forever removing the team of Ilom and Doxen from the world.
Hunter 2
The bat was trying desperately to dodge the incoming attacks only to fail in the last minute as it was blown up from the void missiles. A roaring laugh was heard as a green warlock was almost falling over laughing at the little blown up bat, ¡° Just look at the thing, its like popping a grape!¡± he said in between laughs. A few feet next to him was a grotesque monster with about a dozen smaller eyes with a Huge eye the size of a face on the center of its body, it was simply floating off the ground by magic. Each eye was looking in a different direction but the main eye was watching the warlock as it played with the dungeon monsters flying around them. It just floated there, a grim face on.
The warlock eventually stopped laughing at the bloody spectacle and looked over at the beholder ¡°Mecsh why the round face¡± the warlock could barely talk before making a joke and breaking out in laughter again. ¡°Get it? Round? Instead of long? Because your a Beholder?¡± as the warlock broke back into laughter the beholder just sighed, while waiting for his master to calm down. A few minutes later they got back to moving down the hallway they were in.
¡°Mecsh, have you tried predicting what has been going on here?¡± Urga asked the beholder with a rarely seen serious face. ¡°I have¡± Mecsh responded with a slight twinkle in its eyes and bearing a smirk. ¡°What did you see¡± Mecsh simply explained ¡°an assassin¡± Urga gave mecsh a hard stare and simply spoke ¡°Be specific about what you had seen Mecsh¡± Mechsh lost the smirk that he had been carrying. ¡°I saw a monster that looked female, although what her race was I¡¯m uncertain¡±
Urga continued walking forward before speaking to himself ¡°just what type of monster could kill this many. He was referring to the fact that there had been 3 times as many deaths in the past month or so than in the past year. Over 60 deaths, which, in a green zone, was an insane amount. Not many monsters were capable of such a number of deaths in this area, unless they were extremely lost, high leveled, or stupid. The first two were very much so unlikely as there for the first, there was a city near here. The second was also unlikely because monsters generally become smarter the higher level they are. Only the third was possible but even that was a stretch to go on.
A few minutes later and they had gotten to a fork in the road, looking a bit ahead to the left where mud replaces stone and grass and ivy grow with a vitality known only to plants and their eternal search for higher grounds, on the right was an area with less grass and mud and more stones. A rocky area that seemed to belong to the very depths of the planet its self, stalactites hanging from above and stalagmites pointed towards the sky looking as if they were spears waiting for their enemy to fall upon them. ¡°Lets head left¡± Urga suddenly said to Mecsh who simply nodded with his whole body. As soon as they went left they were almost suffocated by the plant life around them, simply living. ¡°If we weren''t here to find that creature I would burn all of this to the ground just so I don''t have to deal with it,¡±
Urga said with a tone in his voice that suggested that he wasn''t kidding. They continued down the path for a good half hour before one of Mecsh¡¯s eye stalks looked behind them and saw a lapse in the wall as if there was a mirage behind them. He kept staring at it till it seemed to just disappear beneath his gaze, as it vanished he started looking around more before he found it again.
Mecsh smirked inwardly and tried to set up a telepathic signal to the mirage as it surprisingly went through. Hello little assassin, what are you doing here? At the sound of him speaking, the mirage that was moving froze where it was Don''t worry it is just me, we are speaking telepathically to each other through my mental prowess. The mirage then shifted again and appeared a few feet to his left, ¡®What are you?¡¯ it asked me though it spoke in a guttural and hoarse tone yet still distinctly feminine as if it had never spoken before, which was completely possible. I am a Beholder, an ancient, a demon of knowledge and vision. However, the more important question is what are you? I spoke back to the obviously female creature which had piqued Mecsh¡¯s interest ¡®.....I don''t know¡¯ it spoke back in that same voice, however, upon hearing her answer, Mecsh froze. Y-you don''t know what you are? He asked with an obviously confused voice. ¡®...........yes?¡¯ Mecsh started to hold back a laugh as he didn''t want to get caught talking to her by Urga. ¡®laugh and I will kill you¡¯ he however immediately stopped as even though demons can''t truly die they still feel the pain and if what she looks like from the mirage is real, then his death would be extremely painful. Alright, alright calm down. Now then do you know what your race is?
He asked her with a far more humble and peaceful tone. ¡®...no¡¯ Mecsh¡¯s main eye twitched a bit at her answer to his question, he was silent for about half a minute before he thought of a possible answer to his problem. Did you check your status? It should have honestly been obvious as most monsters aren''t even aware of their status till later levels. ¡®What is status?¡¯ she responded with a curious tone in her voice. Simply say status out loud he answered as if it was the easiest thing ever.
The little assassin looked at Urga before I put her fears to rest just whisper it to yourself if you''re afraid he will hear you. He saw her visibly relax at his words before he heard a whisper so faint you would need ears better than a bat to hear them say ¡°Status¡±. ¡®What do I do now?¡¯ her voice this time contained an excitement not previously there now tell me wha- before he could finish what he was telling her he was called over by Urga who shouted ¡°Mecsh get your round ass over here, I¡¯m going to head back so I''m going to un-summon you first.¡± as Mecsh was floating over to Urga he thought back to the little assassin in the caves and asked her I suppose I won''t get to know what you are this time, so do me a favor instead and once I''m gone kill this old fool for me so I don''t have to deal with his jokes anymore. ¡®...sure¡¯
She replied as she saw him start to float off towards Urga. as she watched him she herself slowly started to move towards Urga herself and get into position behind him with her scythes stretched backward so she could get in a good clean strike with her weaponry. She waited till he dropped his guard so she could try to slice off his head, and such an opportunity came when he finally finished un-summoning Mecsh. As soon as he did that she swung her scythes towards his neck, unfortunately as she was about to cut off his head a blue see-through shield came around his body and expanded to about 3 feet around him so her weapons just sliced not into flesh as she was used to but rather into a shield. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Urga, however, was terrified that she had appeared behind him without his noticing and he jumped back before starting to chant a spell, a small dense ball of what could be considered shadow at a distance gathered in one spot in front of him ¡°ShadowBolt!¡± he shouted after he finished chanting, and the bolt shot out towards the Wraith at high speeds (like a car on a highway fast). Sensing danger from the dense, albeit small ball, she hopped out of the way as it flew past and hit the wall behind it. Once it hit the wall it was like the area a foot around it was sucked up into it and then it exploded shooting off rock everywhere. The wraith was EXTREMELY surprised that such a small thing could pack such a powerful punch to it.
She turned around towards him again only to see him about to shoot off another bolt, now knowing exactly how bad it would be to be hit by such a spell she began to move quickly around him hoping to make him miss by making herself blend in around her and then continue flying. ¡°ShadowBolt¡± was shouted again by the warlock and this time it scraped off a bit of her ¡®leg¡¯. Although it was only a bit of her leg, the nature of magic felt like it had been slowly ripped from her body causing her to shriek in pain, feeling angry that she had let herself get hit she forced herself to head straight at the warlock before he could shoot off another spell. Within half a second she was already in front of him, her scythes and claws rapidly slicing away at the shield surrounding him. Her speed was comparable to that of a tornado at its top speed, circling and spinning with gusto. Soon enough the shield started to falter and the warlock began to pick up on the chanting.
The wraith realized what was happening and immediately dodged back as he shot a ShadowBolt into the spot she was just in. soon realizing that he had missed and that with his shield almost down, the orcish warlock¡¯s face paled and he began to turn around and run from the monster, as he ran the Wraith immediately chased after him and with her being a great deal faster than him caught up with him immediately and was once again working on the shield. Almost immediately the shield cracked and shattered leaving the warlock defenseless from her. Her jaw widened as she smiled at the walking snack in front of her. Immediately she stabbed him in the chest.

The Wraith once again was ecstatic about the ending part of the box as this was the third time she had seen it and by now she knew what it meant. she looked around her before starting to devour the body left behind by the warlock. torn as his body was,it was still food that she could eat, and eat she would as she immediately began devouring it. she then began to look at the new window that popped up and she checked what each one of them were.

The Wraith immediately understood what she could use this for and exactly how useful it was once she read it. while hunting she could just get behind the enemy and then have a noise go off somewhere in the distance and while the prey was distracted she could kill it. she could also use it for escaping from a tough situation by making an enemy think there was someone behind them while she escaped. quite useful in the right scenario.
|
Natural Armor

Requirements: Level 5 Monster Job, END 10
Type: Passive
Activation Time: N/A
Cost: N/A

This was a natural choice for anyone to make as many things need armor to help protect them. today showed that to the wraith as she could have been killed from one of those shadowbolts by that warlock.
|
Phase

Requirements: level 15 monster job, Int 50
Type: Active
Activation time: Instant
Cost: 10 MP/min depending on how dense something is.
Effect: it allows the user to phase through objects or people and it makes it easier or harder depending on how dense it is. For example, it''s easier to phase through water than granite.
MP cost for Density decreases with each level, also +2 INT for every level in this skill
|
This skill may as well be a cheat as she could just slip into the wall and appear behind the enemy and stab them through the head and boom instant meal or she could escape to a different part of a building to get away from enemies. again another useful ability depending on the situation she decided that she would probably go with natural armor or phase as misdirection has too few circumstances that it would help in compared to the other two skills. for now, she would choose natural armor as it would be more immediate besides she needs more END and the thought of shrugging off attacks here and there is a nice one. later on, she could choose a phase where she could use it to have an escape route.

As the Wraith was looking around at its screen it realized that there was a lot that it didn''t know. So it began to look at the different Attributes and guess what they did when another box popped up in front of the previous one.

So the more you use a skill the better you use it and the better the effects are. It seemed like the Wraith had finally figured out why the boxes were popping up and what they meant, for the most part at least. there is still much to the system that is not surface level.

Just as it finished reading about the luck attribute, it thought so if I get a high enough level of luck will I just be insanely lucky with everything?
Oh well, let''s save that little thought for later when I can actually use it
As the wraith looked over the past few weeks that she had been hunting, she realized that something was weird as if she felt she was somewhere she wasn''t meant to be. As if there was something were here, something that confused the very surroundings. She ignored it and began thinking, something that she had only experienced recently as although her INT was high she didn''t have much knowledge other than how to fight. So in actuality, she was pretty simple by most standards.
She looked up towards the ceiling, closed her eyes and began sensing around her. As she ''looked'' at the mana around her, she began to follow a certain string of it, like following a map. Not that she would know what a map was. Eventually, as the claustrophobic walls widened and air started to float into the dungeon creating a breeze, she shivered at the foreign sensation crossing her rough skin. As she realized that she was getting close to an end, she opened her eyes at that point only to have them widen to the point of hilarity if someone were to witness her instead of the usual fear of witnessing a monster.
She looked out the doorway and saw- Jungle, jungle everywhere. Trees, grass, mud, shrubs, vines, ivy, flowers. Everything one would expect to see in a jungle if they were to head into one, however to her it was like she had gotten to another planet. She, as she was ecstatic and curious with what she saw ahead of her, dashed out as fast as she could but once the walls stopped she slowed til stopping.
|
You have left the silent jungle dungeon complex
Your connection to the dungeon complex has been severed.
|
The box that had popped up was one that made her feel uneasy, as she had been inside the dungeon her whole life, so she didn''t understand that the feeling she had was one that was normal for every being outside of dungeons. it was the feeling of ''what next''? ''what''s going to happen?'' and ''how will I deal with it''.
The monster understood the meaning behind these implications. It caught on so fast that it actually surprised itself. Something had changed. It could form a coherent stream of thoughts for the first time in its life. Almost as if a fog was lifted from its mind.
The truth of the matter was that while the mana was guiding and nourishing it, it was also robbing it of its free will. That innate compulsion to leave the dungeon? It was being chased out by the very stuff that gave it life. The reason why it had to face every single enemy it came across no matter how strong they were? They were ¡®invaders¡¯ that the dungeon wanted dead.
As she looked around she noticed that it was rather dark out, but compared to the dungeon she had been in it could be considered quite bright. She looked around her again, however, this time she looked for anything that would try to attack her, and just her luck as she saw a lantern coming her way carried by a single person with three others close in sight.
A small smile crossed her face at the thought of more food to have, as she descended upon them like Death incarnate. This wasn¡¯t an instinctual drive to eat and live, nor was it the dungeon¡¯s mind control.
It would kill because it wanted to, with no warning and for almost no reason, other than the bloodlust.
Just like any other monster would, in a world where monsters sleep and death hangs in the very air breathed.
Hunter 4
The body of the adventurer made a nice meaty *THUMP* against the ground after his head had been cut off, his eyes wide with fear from the horror that was the Wraith after it had descended upon his party. The murderer simply looked upon the scene full of blood and guts with a smile full of glee at the thought of more food going into its endless belly. The group of 4 that had been going towards the dungeon simply were unprepared for the silent and ultimately deadly monster. It immediately began devouring the bodies while swiping away the boxes as they popped up in front of it. It wanted to savor its meal this time, as it was its first meal away from the dungeon Instead of just swallowing it whole it began to slowly cut away at the bodies flesh and strip it of the juicy skin on the outside while drinking up the blood before it could fall to the ground. As it ate all it could think of was why it didn''t do this before as to the monster, this was a much tastier way to eat food. Almost half an hour later after it had finished off all three corpses the monster went up a tree looking for something Anything nearby.
With a few short movements, she was up a tree and standing on top. Looking to her left she saw deeper into the jungle where the trees rule and where humans and monsters alike are naught more than packages of food with claws and armor for them. It¡¯s a dangerous place where only the best of hunters and the greatest of monsters could thrive. To her right were the shallows of the jungle, an area that is frequently hunted in by humans looking for fame, glory, or treasures on the dead bodies of monsters they had slain. Past it was open plains where humans ruled and monsters were killed on sight, they had nothing to fear as proven in the past when the hordes went against them and they scurried and hid behind their walls like rats. She could see further into the plains showing, in the distance, large walls which looked like they were as long as the plains themselves, and as tall as the tree she sat upon. Just looking at the walls she could almost taste the flesh that would come with killing them, the simple thought was enough to make her drool. She decided to head right, as the left was far too dangerous for her at this moment and if she were to leave for the deeper jungle she would certainly die.
Death, a concept she had known about and had bathed herself in for years now always weighs on her mind. In the dungeon, she didn''t care because of the brainwashing the dungeon itself did to her mind, but now that she is out here she understands that one wrong move could easily get her killed, ending her hunt. Shaking her head to get such thoughts out, she begins heading towards the plains and ultimately the city, full of tasty little blood bags known as humans. She traveled throughout the jungle, going over logs, dodging incoming trees, and just generally trying to not getting hit. The grass swayed with her passing and the flowers un-bloomed as she flew past. It was as if the whole jungle knew to stay away from such a monster. Within half an hour she was already on the border between the middle of the jungle and the shallows. Just a bit more and those little mhm succulent blood bags shall be mine! Keh Keh Keh. The monster seemed to have the idea that waltzing into a city, full of humans and in broad daylight, mindyou was a good idea. After crossing the border between the shallows and the middle she immediately felt a surge from her instincts as they basically screamed DANGER at her. She immediately began to stop.
Unfortunately, before she could turn around and run away she was already hit straight to the head by a large ''branch'' of some sort, and before she could react she was hit once again this time to the back of her head knocking her unconscious.

The Wraith eventually woke up, though not in the best of condition because as soon as she woke up she jumped. Straight into the ceiling unfortunately in a room of stone, surrounded on all sides by large pillars of steel, though while they were huge, she herself was too big to fit through the gaps. Her scythes would also be useless against this much metal. Looking around the room she realized that she could see past the bars itself and into the room. Upon realizing this she immediately dashed forward and tried peering past into its unknown prison. Looking past she noticed that she couldn''t exactly see as even with her superior eyesight she couldn''t see into the depths of the dark. She kept looking around and upon noticing there was no one there she decided to figure out what to do with her time. ¡°Status¡±

She couldn''t really tell how long she had been here. Then upon looking at her skills, she realized that though she needs to get stronger, as while in the dungeon she was strong when she left, all it took was one moment for her to be taken down with her not being able to do a thing about it. Upon realizing this fact she immediately began training against the metal pillars that made up her cage. Using the bars as a training dummy she sliced and sliced. Eventually, as she was slicing she heard the familiar ding of the system however she just ignored it in favor of continuing to slice. However, said slicing was cut short as she heard someone/thing coming closer. Though it didn''t sound like the moving of feet, rather it sounded like a child had found a knife and was repeatedly tapping it against the ground. Though as she listened more, there was a pattern. The sound grew closer while she waited to preparefor an adversary.
Eventually, she found the source of the sound, or rather it found her. Built like a tank and completely un-noticeable with the exception of the tapping was an insectoid-like creature on 4 legs with two blades in the front like a praying mantis. With a purple and gold armor surrounding all but the joints of its body. Even in the dark, it could easily be called shiny by all but the blind. Its main body was as if two dung beetles were stacked upon each other, with a set of wings on each part. On the head was a large, golden horn that looked as if it wanted to cut the very air in front of it. As she watched the creature slowly approach the cage, she began to get herself ready for a fight, she got an odd feeling from the monster though, as if it was there and wasn''t there at the same time. A mystifying feeling, though she got her answer to why as before her eyes, the monster began to slowly condense into a shape familiar to her. The shape of a human. A beautiful woman by all standards, standing at 6 feet tall, with pale blue eyes, a set of abs even men would die for, and a body woman would pay a demon their very skin in order for them to have one. Breasts the size of jugs an ass that men would watch for days on end. Unfortunately, this was all wasted on the wraith as all she could do was backup away from her, as she felt fear in her chest. It was almost an instinct telling her not to approach her. Seeing the monster she had captured back up the woman simply smiled and spoke attempting to soothe the monster
¡°Calm down little one. I mean you no harm.¡± However, even though she had a beautiful body her voice sounded old and dead with hisses running through it like grains of sand in a river. The wraith looked at her with skepticism as she listened to her. ¡°I know what you were thinking back then, and I believe that it is my position to tell you that it would have been a terrible idea.¡± simply trying to stay alive at this point the wraith listened to the woman as she spoke about just how bad of an idea it would be to try to go fight the city.
¡°You don''t know this but with all the sentries on the wall, you would be spotted immediately even if you were smaller than a wolf. I have no idea what made you think you could just go and kill everyone in there.¡± She sighed while talking to the monster. ¡°Honestly I don''t think I''ve ever met someone either as dumb or as brave as you are.¡± She looked at the ground before looking up at the wraith once again. ¡°So mind telling me your name and for what reason you tried to basically kill yourself for?¡± she had eyes full of a un comprehendible emotion that just confused the wraith. ¡°...What''s a name?¡± she asked while looking back at the woman in front of her who at the question seemed disgruntled, before laughing so hard she began to bend over, her whole body jiggling at the movement but she didn''t seem to notice. When she calmed down and stopped laughing she looked back at the wraith and asked: ¡°Ok whoo, that was a good joke but in all seriousness what''s your name?¡±
as if she though the monster was making a joke. The Wraith just kept looking at her while keeping silent before the reality of the situation began to set in for the woman as her smile faded and her eyes widened before raising one eyebrow over the other and asking ¡°You don''t know what a name is?¡± the wraith looked at her and simply nodded. The woman looked at the wraith with an incredulous face on, before letting out a deep sigh and telling her ¡°go ahead and open your status, at the top to the left should be a box that says Name, go ahead and focus on that box.¡± As the woman gave her commands the wraith simply obliged as she couldn''t do much in this scenario and her curiosity was almost as endless as her stomach. ¡°Status¡± bringing it up in front of her and focusing on the name before another smaller box appeared in front. ¡°Now then you should be able to give yourself a name by simply thinking it, do you understand?¡±. Looking at the box and thinking to herself the Wraith eventually thought of a name and chose one, almost immediately above her head appeared the name ¡®Blade¡¯. ¡°So what name did you pick?¡± the woman asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice. Blade simply looked at her with slight suspicion as she wondered whether or not to actually tell her what her name was. Although she had kidnapped her she had not attacked her, tortured her, or really even questioned her other than about her name.
¡°Blade.¡± She eventually said after deliberating between her options for about two minutes. ¡°Blade?¡± she again raised an eyebrow at this as the name Blade was a bit ironic seeing as though she had 10 blades (not including her spikes on her back) throughout her body. ¡°Well alright then, if that''s what you chose then that''s what it is.¡± The woman said this time with a slight chuckle instead of a sigh. ¡°Now then, do you mind telling me why you were trying to go to the city, it''s a suicide mission.¡± she asked once again while looking at Blade with a serious expression on her face. As she watched Blade herself was watching her and it took her but a moment to answer ¡°I''ve eaten quite a few humans before and they were always so tasty, especially their blood. I saw the city and I thought there would be lots of humans there so I wanted to go there and eat some of them.¡± This answer however just garnered a look between shock and disbelief that this was her answer to why she almost got herself killed had she gone through with it. And once again she broke out laughing, this time at how idiotic her plan was, instead of her hearing a joke. Then again this could almost be considered a joke as to how dumb it sounded. ¡°I don''t even know what to say at this point, that may very well be the most idiotic thing I''ve ever heard in my life and with my long life, I''ve heard more dumb ideas than there are creatures in this forest. And how exactly were you planning on killing the humans who were stronger than you in there, hmm?¡± she immediately asked after scolding her reasoning for the attack.
¡°.......They were stronger than me?¡± At this point, the woman simply face-palmed while mumbling under her breath about how idiotic some monsters were. Naturally, Blade heard this and was more than a little ruffled on the inside but said nothing, after all, you really shouldn''t say something bad against someone much stronger than you. Even she knew this is a bad idea. ¡°Yes, they are stronger than you, much stronger, especially in a frontal assault like you were about to do.¡± The woman told Blade. ¡°I can''t tell if I like you or not you''re a bit dull but at the same time, you have some talent even if you don''t use it to its full potential. Plus there is the fact that it''s quite amusing to watch you screw up¡± The woman explained to Blade while holding her hand to her chin in a thinking position.
Again Blade simply had to sit there and take the insult. Though she was interested in the whole ¡®I like you¡¯ bit. She wondered what she meant by that seeing as though she hadn''t even known her for an hour or two. Blade kept staring at the woman to the point where even the obviously thinking woman noticed before blade asked: ¡°I told you my name, what''s yours?¡± The woman obviously seemed surprised as she froze before chuckling ¡°Ah I knew I was forgetting something, sorry about that but my name is Yezel¡¯ Serum. Just call me Yez.¡± Yez answered with a small smile on her face. ¡°Ah, well that helps¡± blade answered with an expression that said nothing. ¡°Well can I leave yet, although it''s nice that you didn''t immediately kill me it''s not the best feeling to be imprisoned.¡± blade said with a blank expression, however, this seemed to be expected as she simply nodded. ¡°Well I can''t be too sure that you won¡¯t try to attack me as soon as you get out, so you mind making a little deal with me? It''s a little thing called a magical contract, just to keep us from killing each other, or really to keep you from basically committing suicide by attacking me.¡± She said with a wry smile.
Blade began thinking about Yez¡¯s proposal before asking ¡°can I leave without having one?¡± ¡°Well yes but I would prefer if my little base could stay hidden from all but myself, and this little contract could help keep said preference.¡± Yez replied almost immediately. This immediately made Blade think, as in the beginning, she said it was so they wouldn¡¯t attack each other, no she was saying it could help keep her base''s location. Upon noticing Blades scrutinizing gaze she immediately replied ¡°you can put multiple things on a magical contract, not just a pledge not to kill each other. And don''t worry about me putting something insane like you being my servant on the contract, a magical contract can only happen if the two parties agree with each other or if one of them is a very high-level scribe.¡± she simply nodded her head along with this as blade was simply left confused, What¡¯s a scribe? Was simply one of the many thoughts floating through her short yet long head.
¡°So, can we get this over with? While you may not be attacking me or killing me I dare say this is not an ideal situation.¡± Blade explains as Yez begins to pull out a large Thing it''s about a meter wide and long, looking like gold, and with runic writing on it. Yez simply looks at it, closes her eyes, and it begins to start glowing, not enough to blind anybody but a nice glow around its edges as if little golden flames danced around it. Unfortunately, with her much too good eyesight in the dark this flame was as if she was hit directly in the face with a flashbang and as such she immediately had her hands over her eyes, backing away with a loud screech. This caused Yez to immediately stop what she was doing, only to see Blade doing as she does, and freaking the fuck out.
¡°HEY!, HEY!¡± She immediately began yelling at Blade with a slightly concerned face as Blade¡¯s screeching calmed down. Upon opening her eyes and seeing Yez¡¯s eyes, she was immediately curious as to why they were like so. She decided to ignore it while explaining ¡°apologies for that however my eyesight is rather good and I''ve yet to see something as bright as that.¡± Yez simply had a small amused but curious face on. She simply shook her head and replied, ¡°just look away this time until we are done here.¡± as she said that she got back to work with the contract, as Blade turned around. About 3 minutes later she simply heard Yez call out ¡°Ok you can turn around now.¡± Immediately upon hearing this Blade turned around, just in time to see that same piece of gold, now far thinner to the point it looked like paper, though it got much longer. It wasn''t glowing so it was fine for Blade to look at. Yez, however, interrupted her little inspection by speaking.
¡°Alright then, now all I need you to do is put down your signature.¡± This, however, was rather confusing to the only recently brainwash-freed wraith, as she stared at yez with a face that spoke volumes of her confusion before Yez finally noticed. ¡°What?¡± ¡°what is a signature?¡± Blade effortlessly replied. ¡°Ah, right you still don''t know that. Well, it''s really simple, you put your hand on the contract and you wait till it glows again. The magic in your body should do the rest.¡± Of course, Yez with her general knowledge of the world immediately explained how to do it as she placed the contract in front of Blade. Blade figuring that she had made it this far without dying decided to risk it and placed her hand on the contract, as soon as she did that it started glowing.
However, unlike last time this wasn''t so much a glow as a twinkle here and there, annoying to blade but ultimately fine for her eyes to look at. She watched as the contract slowly rolled itself up into a scroll and with a *POP* disappeared from existence itself. Leaving Blade to look at the spot it was in with a blank face as if she had yet to fully accept what had happened. Yez, on the other hand, had already gotten over it and was making her way to the door to the cage and began unlocking it. When the creak from the hinges came, it snapped Blade out of her daze and she looked towards the door. ¡°Come on now, don''t want to be wasting time now do we?¡± Yez told her as she watched the little monster stay in place for a bit before she slowly floated over towards the door. ¡°Alright then now let''s get going,¡± she said before she immediately began walking in the direction she had come through. Following behind her Blade is completely focused on making sure she doesn''t get lost in this maze of a ¡®home¡¯ as yez called it. With golden walls that have two long indents similar to claw marks moving alongside both of the walls, making everything look exactly the same for her. Eventually though after many flights of stairs, which were one of the only distinguishing features to the actual home which could pass off for a palace in size alone, they came across the final gate leading out of the area and into the jungle beyond. As she was about to walk out, Blade turned around and looked at Yez, asking ¡°Why are you doing this for me? I have never met you before and I have never known of you, so why go out of your way for me?¡± she turned around with a confused face but eyes blazing with curiosity. Yez simply looked at her and smiled ¡°You look funny, and you got a bit of talent. So I thought I may as well help.¡±
And with that, she turned around and walked back into the palace of a home leaving blade to her own devices, deep in the woods, where monsters many times stronger than her roam, where she could die, EASILY!
