《Wandering Wrath》 Chapter 1 ¡®War isn¡¯t for the faint-hearted.¡¯ That was the only thought that prevailed in Dracus¡¯ mind as he stepped away from the battlefield. He glanced over the mounds of bodies strewn about as if a young godling lost interest and carelessly tossed their toys down and left. Several of Dracus¡¯ friends were apart of the casualties, good men and immensely powerful fighters and mages. His groups¡¯ power is what caught the lord Heimdell¡¯s attention oh so many years ago, and to have them even partake in this battle. ¡°It¡¯ll be a simple clearing out of bandits and possibly an orge or two.¡± Heimdell started so casually. ¡°All for the duty of our emperor.¡± sighed Dracus as he continued walking away from the gruesome sight. The information Heimdell gave was totally inaccurate. Instead of a loosely formed bandit group and few scattered orges, there was a whole army of professionally trained spellswords and mages waiting to slaughter him and his group. Deep down he knew it sounded like a trap but how was he supposed to expect that. ¡®Mine and Heimdell¡¯s relationship wouldn¡¯t call for this.¡¯ He thought. Suddenly Dracus¡¯ battle instincts took over and he sidestepped to the left and thrust his armor-clad hand to where his head originally was to snatch an arrow out of the air. ¡°It seems that there are still vermin lurking in the shadows.¡± He snarled ¡°Step into the light and I promise a swift death.¡± As he twisted his body around with such force it stirred the dirt creating cover as he heaved the arrow back in the direction it came from. Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. A painful yelp sounded out as it struck the shoulder of the original sender as he fell out of his invisibility spell due to the pain causing a lapse in his concentration which in turn dismantled his spell. ¡°Did you really think a simple arrow would take me down?¡± Dracus asked his aggressor. ¡°No, but I created enough of a distraction for the spell to be complete!¡± Shouted the man as he pitifully attempted to lunge at Dracus with an emerald-encrusted dagger. Dracus simply swatted the man¡¯s hand away and in the same motion grasped him by the throat. ¡°What spell?¡± He inquired. The man didn¡¯t speak for several seconds before finally saying ¡°The teleportation spell you fool.¡± Which was immediately followed by a bright blinding light. As the light faded a howling sound filled Dracus¡¯ ears. As he glanced around he realized where he was sent with the spell. He chuckled and asked the man still gripped in his hand ¡°Did you fools seriously think a fall from the edge of the atmosphere would really kill me?¡± He watched as the light of hope dimmed and transformed into sudden fear. Dracus simply crushed the man¡¯s windpipe and tossed him aside as he continued his descent to the planet. Chapter 2 ¡®For as stupid as they are I have to give them credit¡¯ Dracus thought with a sigh, ¡®To think I have to show my true form to this world once again, will I ever get a rest?¡¯ As his body started twisting and contorting while growing rapidly. Having red scales that were as large as a small child overlapping his sleek serpentine body. His leathery wings stretched out and caught air and slowed his descent as he beat them, quickly changing his direction towards the southern continent. Half an hour passed as Dracus neared the shore, he chuckled and thought to himself ¡®Pathetic, those mages could only send me a few hundred miles away from the western continent.¡¯ As Dracus flew over the massive sprawling forests of the continent he saw several smoking chimneys of a fairly larger city. ¡®Maybe I¡¯ll take a quick stop there to grab some ale, it¡¯s been a long day.¡¯ he thought as he flew over, hearing bells chime out not caring as the southern continent was always considered the weakest and even a city of this size couldn¡¯t truly pose a threat to him as he continued his flight.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. Little did he know the city was preparing for an attack from Dracus not realising that he was simply travelling overhead. Archers gathered on the walls and notched their arrows while mages covered the arrows with piercing magic. They stayed trained on the dragon waiting for it to strike first to not bring about their own destruction by provoking it first. Dracus saw the archers and huffed. ¡®I guess it¡¯s to be expected, these weaker humans view everything not like them as a threat. I¡¯ll just fly over and then land a few miles away, change back into my human form, and then make my way back here for that drink.¡¯ So Dracus lazily flew over the city and to his surprise he wasn¡¯t attacked by any of the archers or mages. A few miles later he landed changing into his human form as his altitude decreased. Compared to his dragon form his human form is rather undersized for an adult, he had fiery red hair, and his skin was tanned from constantly basking in the sun whenever he wasn¡¯t on missions for the emperor. His clothes consisted of a tight shirt with light oversized leather jerkin thrown casually over it, there were black metal gauntlets that extended up to just below his elbows, and under his black metal greaves were roughspun cotton pants. A broadsword hung loosely on his waist. Even with this minimalistic attire making him appear as a weak and untrained individual his aura was oppressing the surrounding area. He sighed as he suppressed his aura and started walking towards the road.
