《Writing test》 1.Dead
  1. "HA!"
Always knew it would end that way... Ok, soooooo... this is weird... i mean, i know i''m dead, and eyes and all that sensory organ stuff is a living being''s shit but, this is not exactly what i expected to happen when you''re kaput, after all without all that sensory organ/nerves/brain complex it would make the most sense to NOT exist, never mind think and sense... y''now, 360 around/inside yourself, not to mention the ground, wich is not actually ground it just... exists, and the only difference between it and the air ,which is not actually air, is that the air (void?space?) does NOT exist... and, what is that? It''s like the ground but... moving? Wait is that supposed to be liquid, like water or something, interest"OH SHIT!"WHAT THE! Is that a... boat?
THE CHARON HAS ARRIVED.
Damn, this gets weirder by the second.
GET ON.
As i said,weird... well, whatever, let''s get on.
Ooookey, this is definitely not normal. Is it because i am in a boat of ''something that exists'' on top of ''something that exists but flows''? Nope. Is it becausewe''ve been making periodic stops to pick up more, let''s call them, ''souls''? Not exactly. Because said ''souls'' are, metaphorically speaking of course, ''lifeless''? Close but no. It is because all of those souls resemble a... if i were to make a comparison... fire, they ''look'' like fires. Every single one of them. Not the Charon, he(it?) is more like a blackhole where my ''perception'' cannot enter, but it is damn obvious that he is not just a soul. No, the problem lies in me, i''m neutral, i mean, everyone else irradiates some kind of energy that distorts slightly around them, but i dont. I just don''t. I doubt it is a trick of my brain because, heh, i don''t have one of those anymore so... Yeah, i''m the odd one out... And taking into account that i AM a freaking soul... I don''t know what that means...Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
REINCARNATION
GET OUT.
It seems we have arrived, huh, How much time was i in that boat? Damn. Well i guess it''s fine, it''s not like i had anything else to do, now, time to get out... What? What is this? Some kind of barrier? I can''t get out, and everyone else haslanded too... Damn, the Charon''s looking at me. "Ahem... Hey, Charon, i can''t seem to get out..."
SIT.
Oh boy, that can''t be good...
DANGER: SYSTEM LIMITS AHEAD
HELL
Shit... 2.Thrown
GET OUT.
"Of course, i should have known." What the hell do i do now. Heh. I guess i just gotta go, aaand there goes the boat... damn. "Ooooh, whould you look at that, a newbie. Just in time for the games too. Hah!" Fuck, i don''t think that''s an angel coming to get me outta here. "I''m gonna go ahead and guess it''s not marbles you''re talking about, right?" "Nope, it''s going to be more like the hung*r games." He towers above me at least twice over and those arms are plated... "I don''t stand a chance do i?" "Hmm?" Oh shit, he''s looking me over. "I don''t see why not, you''re not the worst we''ve had. Hah! Now come here follow me." Not the worst, haaaaa... "Alright, i guess i have nothing left to lose, i''m already in hell." I shrug and start following him. "Hmph. That''s the spirit." "Pfft..." Shit! He''s heard me! He''s looking at me.... Amusement? Was it intentional? What if i...? "That was lame." "So?" "Nothing, i liked it." Yes! He''s grinning! Are those hooks? For teeth? For real? "What are you looking at newbie? Scared?" "Actually... I was thinking those must be impractical for y''know, eating and all."Please be cool, please be cool.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. "Oh but they arepractical, just for other things."Shit. "Point taken." "Good. Now hold still, and this will only hurta lot."Here starts the real hell then... "HUAAAAARRG....."
WELCOME HOME.
"RAAAAARGHUaAAagHaaaahhhhhhahh......." "HAH! That must have been a new record! Welcome back newbie, how was your trip? HAHAHAHAHA!" "Aaaaahaaaaaa aaaaahaaaa aaahaa aah is haaah... Is it over?" "Are you kidding? You''ve only just gotten started, and what a timing too, game''s just about to begin. I''ll see you later kid." "HELLO DEMONS AND DEVILS IN THIS FORSAKEN CORNER OF OUR LITTLE HELL." "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR!!!!!!" "HAH HAH HAH! I SEE EVERYONE IS ALREADY EXCITED! WELL THEN WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, LET''S INRODUCE OUR NEW PARTICIPANTS! ALMOST A HUNDRED NEW IMPS THAT WILL NOW BE SENT TO THE PIT!!!" "TO THE PIT!! TO THE PIT!!! TO THE PIT!!!! TO THE PIIIIT!!!!!!!" "DOWN THEY GOOOOO!"
YOU HAVE BEEN THROWN INTO THE PIT.
RECORDING ACTIVATED.

"Gaaah.. *throb* where?" I stand up in what seems to be a forest with a throbbing headache. "GYAAAAH!" A red skinned humanoid attacks me with a swipe of it''s arms from my left towards my head. "Shit!"Duck. It''s arms pass over my head and it''s body is now right next to me.Hit.I hit it''s midsection with a left, it doubles over.Grab. Hit.Right foot forward, left pivots. I grab it''s frontwith my left hand and hit it''s nape with my right elbow. It goes down. What the hell is that?I squat and flip it sideways, red skin, small yellow eyes and two little horns on it''s forehead. Small, perhaps a third of an average human. How did it manage to swipe at my head? Wait.I look at my hands, red with four fingers and little black claws.What.My body is red too and my feet have little claws. The.I put my hands to my forehead, two horns, the size of my finger. "FUCK!" 3. Pop "No, no, no, nonononono" I can''t believe it, i''m a fucking monster!?
CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE SURVIVED THE FIRST ROUND.
THE BARRIERS WILL FALL NOW.
Wait, what? What barrieeeee... Okay THOSE barriers. I was dumbfounded as i looked to the sky, I saw big red glass-like domes breaking one after the other, when the one i was on broke with a ''pop'' i could start hearing screams, so i did the first thing that came to my mind. I climbed a tree. "GYAAAAaaaah?" Shit, it''s another one of those, i don''t think it can see me from here. As if to prove me right it started looking left and right, and seeing no one, it just took off runing and screaming again. "GYAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaa..." Okay, it''s gone, but how the hell do i get out of here? Think ,think, think... Wait. First round? Hung*r games? So this is a battle royale kind of competition and the first test was a one-on-one? Alright, i can work with that, now the question is, short-term or long-term? If we are supposed to get out fast i need to follow the survivors, i can go stealth two or three days tops so i can wait and kill the last one when it is exhausted from battle. But if we are supposed to be here weeks i need to find actual shelter like a cave and procure materials, make traps, i can play it slow then. Wait, no, i don''t know how this place works, how their... OUR body works, do we even need to eat and defecate? This IS hell, i need more info...The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. As i was climbing down the tree to inspect the corpse of the one i killed i realized one thing. It isn''t there. The corpse had dissapeared, i hadn''t seen the other carrying it and no other had come after so... It dissapeared? What the fucking fuck? How? What? WHY? But if we are souls and it dissapears after being killed then, what? is this time definitive or? Fuck. Okay, it''s decided then, follow, and learn. Last one went past there so... I went after it at a moderate pace, i don''t want to tire and don''t know the endurance this body has so a slow jog should do.
After a couple of minutes and gradual increase in volume of the screams i finally make it, it''s a cliff, there is a group of them surrounding a portion of the cliff in a clearing from the cliff to the forest, at a distance of each other, i stay in the forest and climb a tree in the second outmost line, and wait. "GYAAAAAAAH" Another one comes and starts attacking the one nearest but stops suddenly when it sees everyone staring at it, it stays in tension. What are you all gonna do now? Surprisingly enough they just move a bit to make room for the newcomer. When they move i see what they are surrounding. A cave, but just what is inside... 4.Boss After a couple more have come no noises can be heard from the forest. Okay, it seems everyone is here so what are they waiting for now? "GRAAAARRR!!!" From the cave sounds a scream louder than most and then it cames out. A new one, this one taller, buffer, towering a head over the average, and twice as buff as any other. The others shuffle a bit and look at one another, then Buff starts running, to the one just in front of him... By this time there was a dozen others in a rough semi-circle shape and they all throw themselves at him. "GRAAAAAAAAH!" Buff tackles the one it was after to the ground and bashes it''s head in, then the two who were nearest to it''s kneeling form jump and try to hold it''s arms, try, because it just brings it''s arms together and those two just get hit by each other and let it go, dazed, Buff then rises to it''s feet and backhands the one trying to attack it from behind. "Gyaaahg..." "GRRRRYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHRRRR!!!!" It does a rage pose and stamps the head of the one that tried to ambush it. Yep. That one''s not getting up... It then picks up one of the headbutted ones from the ground and puts it''s hands around it''s neck slowly tightening. *crrraaaakk**crunch* As it let''s the body fall to the ground it looks everyone slowly. Soooo... that''s why they were waiting for more then. Now what? What are you all gonna do?Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. Then the ones remaining, all of them ones that were here when i came, start running, towards the cave. What? They should be smart enough to know that they lose the numerical advantage like that so why? Then Buff picks the one still in the ground dazed and hits it''s head to the ground, one, two, three times, it then starts walking towards the cave. Once it''s inside i get down and approach the cliff, the first to die has started to become fainter and fainter at an accelerated rate so i stop. "GRAAaAARGHHHhHH!" Buff''s screaming of pain? How did they manage to do it? My focus immediately changes as the corpse in the ground turns so transparent only the borders are visible just before it turns in a grey ball the size of a marble and flyes awayWhat the? Then the two remaining ones change and fly away too.Was that?"GRRAaaaghhh..."Buff? I turn around just in time to see three bloodied figures come out of the cave. One of them stops and looks at me just as the last one comes out cradling it''s left arm. Then they scream at me. "Gyaaaaa!"Oh shit, what do i do?I calulate the distance between me, them and the forest, and make a dash for that last one. "GYAAAAH!"Shit! Climb, climb, climbclimbclimb.Once i am in one of the lower branches i turn around to see the first one start to climb the tree, the second follows but the third only has one working arm so it stays below and starts picking up rocks. Here they come. 5.Last The branch i am on is only about two times my size off the ground and half as thick as the tree''s trunk, horizontal, that''s why i retreat and go further away form the trunk and, when i see the two others standing in the branch and nearing, i crouch slightly. Aaaand jump! I go directly off the branch towards the one-armed other that is gathering rocks. As i fall One-arm widens it''s eyes and hurriedly throws the fist-sized rock it has at hand to me, i can''t dodge in midair so i make a boxing block with my arms. *Crack*"Haarg!" As it hits me i feel my left arm go numb but i am now directly in fron of it. Hit. A right sends it reeling just after it manages to pick another rock, and before it can recover... Hit. Again. Another to the gut and an elbow to the head makes it fall before i stomp it for good. "GYAAAAH!" The ones above are just starting to come back so i pick up one of the rocks on the ground. I aim for the upper body of the one closest and "GYaaAh...*thump*" The other one sees me go for another rock and decides to let go and fall the rest of the distance. After it has fallen it manages to dodge it by crouching and drags it''s friend behind the tree. Damn it, i can''t do this with only one arm. As i start thinking of running before they come out again itake a glance at my left arm. What the? My arm''s fine, i take cover behind a tree and lift my arm to my face to try moving it. No pain, no numbness, hell, it isn''t even sore! *Crack* They''re moving! I stop breathing to focus on their steps, they get near then stop. The rocks. And then they start moving again, together. I move slowly circling the tree to keep standing in their blindspot, taking care to step when they do to mask any little noises they may hear so that they don''t know which tree i''m behind of.This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"GYAAAAH!" This game of hide-and-seek continues for a few minutes with me changing trees two times until one of them starts screaming in a rage, "GYAAgH!" Friendly fire? I risk a peek and see them tumbling on top of one another, rocks in hands and aiming for the head. *Crack!* The one below gets a good hit and capitalizes on the other''s pause. *Crack!**Crunch* Now! As it tries to get the body on it''s top off i rush in and kick it in the side of it''s head, as it reels from the hit i kneel before it and bring my rock in an overhead strike with both hands. *Crunch*. Well, that was anticlimatic... "HAHAHA!, WELL DONE NEWBIE!" When? "WOAH! WHAT A SPECTACLE! WE HAVEN''T HAD A RUN SUCH AS THIS ONE IN A LONG TIME! HOW ABOUT AN OVATION FOR OUR LITTLE SIBLING!" As my hand is raised by the one that brought me here i am suddenly greeted by a shout like a thousand bombs going off next to my head. "GRRHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" "HAHAHAHAHA! WELL DONE NEWBIE! NOW TELL US! WHAT MAY WE CALL YOU FROM NOW ON?" It can be the equivalent of my new brain still being rattled by that ''ovation'', but the question has taken me by surprise, after all, everything i had done since i died had been done by order, with little choice, or without any regard to my opinion or knowledge, so now i need a few seconds to compose myself and think of an answer. "Ahem! Hello fellow... siblings? I''m honored to be here today and i thank you for your ovation. I present myself to you as..." How do i call myself now? Perhaps? Nah, but... i may as well... "...Last" 6.Prize "WELL THEN DEVILS AND DEMONS! A HUGE WELCOME FOR LAST!" "WEEEEEELLLLCCOOOOOOOOOMMEEEE!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" "NOW AS THE WINNER OF THE NEWBIES YOU ARE GETTING SOMETHING MORE THAN A HEARTWARMING WELCOME!! ISN''T THAT RIGHT!?" "HAHAHAHAHA PRIZE!PRIZE!!PRIZE!!!PRIZE!!!!" "WELL THEN HERE IS YOUR PRIZE!"

"INTERESTING CHOICE, NO DOUBT, WELL THEN THAT SHALL BE ALL FOR THE WHOEVER-CARES-ABOUT-THE-NUMBER EDITION OF THE GAMES!" "HAHAHA! What did i say kid, not the worst indeed! Now let''s go to your new, heh, home." "And can i know where that will be?" "Of course, of course, it whouldn''t do to have our new little family clueless, whould it? Where you will be staying next is the first level of hell, thePLAINS." As it... he says so i find myself in the middle of a plain of barren land stretching infinitely.Perhaps literally. "Now then my work here is done."He suddenly dissapeared. "Ugh! That hurt me more that the pit..." "HAHAHA..." "Heh, okay. Now what?" "GYaaaaah!" A goup of a couple things... imps donning some kind oftabard and some weapons approach me and start shrieking.Oh damnit not this again. As i grow wary and crouch the one on the front looks at me and raises a hand for the others to stop. "Gyaaah? Gyaah? Gyaaayag?"What the... is it trying to talk to me? Seeing that i only look at him and blink he stares back and approaches slowly. "Gyaah, gyaahem. Are you the latest victor of the pit?" Dumbfounded i stare at him. "Yes. Why?" "We need you to come with us and be officially registered, plus you will need someone to teach you the local tonge, not everyone knows how to speak with their soul." "Wait. What?" "Hmm? Don''t tell me you thought that everyone was just coincidentally speaking in whichever is your old language?" 7.Welcome Shit, i feel so dumb right now... "Uhhg. Alright, yeah, didn''t think that too much." "Hahahah, don''t worry most of the newbies are like wild animals so it''s already a wonder you are capable of rationalizing." "Yeah... i realized but, why is that so?" "Hmm? Weren''t you ''welcomed'' when you came? "''Welcomed''... oooooh shit." "Yeah, heh, most can''t keep their mind after that so... well let''s say that once the pit ends we are quite busy until everyone is recovered." "Recovered? Everyone?" "Yes, everyone. It wouldn''t be much of a hell if you could just die and end it, would it?" "Damn... okay, yeah, makes sense." "Perfect, now if that''s all for now we have to bring you to simps city." "Simps... city?" "Yes, that''s it''s name and yes it''s intentional, you will find much more things like that here so get accustomed." "Okay... i guess."
After walking around for awhile we''ve finally arrived to the city, a gigantic medieval-looking city without walls and extending as far as i can see, made entirely of some kind of gray stone. With colored rags vertically every which way, standing like some sort of color code, like a sorting system of some kind. After circling the outskirts of the city for a while we finally stop near a short but very wide building with five white rags on single file. "Alright, now that we are already here..."*Snap* "What? What''s this for?"As soon as he snapped his hand the rest of them encircled my neck with the cold steel of well-sharpened weapons. "Don''t worry, it''s nothing personal. I only want the soul you got as a prize from the pit, as soon as you give it up we will part and go our separate ways."A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. "I can''t do it." "So you can''t, hmm..."*Shlick* "Huuuugh..."*Gasp* "You will give it to me or a knife to your guts will be the least of your worries every time i see you, got it?" "That''s not what i meant..." "Hmmm? Aaaah, you''ve exchanged it then?" "Yeahgh..." "For?" "Pact making." "Prove it." "...How?" "Make a deal of course, if you are lying you will give me the soul and, let''s see... one hundred dust, per head, and you will work for us till you repay it all, sounds good? Say it." I swear i will wipe that smirk from your face, in time... "I...I will pay the soul prize i gained from the pit if i still have it along with one hundred dust to each of the presents and work for them till said amount is paid in exchange for said presents'' uninvolvment with me from now on in case i already exchanged said soul. "Tch... Alright, i guess you were telling the truth." "So..."Gulp. "So, it''s your lucky day. Gyaaaahah! There you go... Last. Oh, and, welcome home." 8.Basic Ugh... shit, that hurt. Damn, this is so weird, i... we? We really regenerate fast. As soon as thay are out of my sight i just start looking at my wound. Where a knife, and not a little one at that, had just passed moments ago there was just a hole knitting slowly but surely, without any more blood coming out. If i hadn''t already seen it at the pit i would think i don''t bleed anymore... As i think about it i pass the doors and find myself stupified once again. Is this a... reception? What exactly is this place? "Are you the new victor or just poor?" "...Sorry?" "Are you the new victor of the pit or just so poor you can''t even afford basic clothes?" "Emm... new victor, but i may be poor too..." "Hmm? Didn''t they let you keep the dust? I may have to remind them of the customs then..." Why the hell does everyone here have such creepy smiles? Oh, yeah, right... "Right... em, i do have the dust." "All 20?" "Is it fixed?... Ahem, yes, all of it." "Tch... i guess i''ll have to keep my foot out their asses for now... Either way you''ve come here for the basic package yes?" "Err, i guess? What''s in it?" "Basic knowledge. Things you would catch on in your own in a couple boxes but that are common enough here that you need to know them." "Boxes?" "You see. Here in home we don''t use wichever measurement you may have used before coming here to gauge and cuantify our ''eternal'' existence. Here we have cycles, and nine of those are a package, seven packages are a box, and six boxes are a batch. Understood?" "Cycle. Nine means package. Seven means box and six means batch. But, what''s a cycle?" "Heh, don''t worry, you''ll know soon enough. Now before we continue, lessons aren''t free so if you want anything more you''ll have to pay."You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. "Do those lessons include local language?" "Basic helltonge, yes." "And soul language?" "Ha, that may be bitting more than you can chew kid, soulspeak is one of the most advanced things you can find in the plains, you aren''t going to learn that any time soon." "Alright, how much for the basic knowledge then." "Ten. Non-negotiable."

9.Spuord "Well, how do you want to start?" "Ummm... I don''t know, how about helltonge and have the rest as practice?" "Alright then but this will take more than a cycle so i will first get that out of the way. I''m assuming time worked in a day/night basis wherever you came from?" "Yeah, something like that, does it not work like that here?" "Nope. What you see is what there is, most of the time anyways. After some fixed amount of relative time has passed from the last, hell freezes over, everything stops moving, happening and who knows, perhaps even existing. Either way once this happens every citizen of hell has a chance to consume dust, apply for official events and so on. After that passes everything starts moving again and we say that it''s a new cycle." "Wait! Emm, okay can i ask questions?" "You are already." "Right. So, relative time, relative to what?" "I don''t know." "Oookay, does everyone enter, erm, ''stasis'', at the same time?" "Yes." "And everyone gets out at the same time too?" "Yes. And everyone is in there different amounts of time." "Alright. What if someone doesn''t choose?"If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it. "That''s a choice too." "Aaaalright, so... helltonge?" "Let''s start then."
"Me... want... spuord?" "Almost, *sword*, let''s"
CHOOSE.

"Woaaah...." "Easy there, huff, don''t worry, you''ll get accustomed." *Gasp* "Is it always like that?" "First time''s toughest. Don''t worry. So? Up for round two?" "Gaahh, yeah, just, a moment..." "Hah, take all the time you want kid, i''ve already got paid." *Gulp* "Okay, ready to continue." "Well you''ve got basic helltonge more or less so let''s just practice it with the others, alright?" "Sounds good, what''s next?" "Well calendar''s mostly done so... Let''s see. Each package''s choices change a bit, each box changes them all and each batch changes type and specialty, have you seen the specialty?" "Yeah, hard to miss." "Well that''s more or less the calendar, though, as you may or may not have seen there are different official ''contests'' happening regularly, and each batch another ascension is held but you shouldn''t think about it, exceptional ones start entering around their tenth or so batch and get their asses kicked." "Alright but, what does ascension mean?" "It means exactly that, see, once you are ''welcomed'' you turn from whatever you were into an imp and that isn''t going to change unless you get a high enough amount of power, and even then the form of an imp is completely stable so if you want to change it you need to shuffle it around a bit, and that means powerful, and delicate, soul magic, the same magic that allowed you to turn from a wandering soul-blob to a stable form." "Is that how it is on the other levels too?" "Honestly? No idea." "What! How can you have no idea if you know about how to go up from here?" "Heh, they give us this information so that every one of us wait until we are ready and then go to the tournament, and so that no idiot gets too much power and decides they can just ascend themselves on their own. Don''t look at me like that, this explanation is given for a reason. More than one fool has just gone and vanished." 10.Bureaucracy "Oookay... no messing with my own soul, duly noted." "Yeah, even if by some miracle you made it up in one piece, the higher ups wouldn''t be too happy." "That''s next then? Hell''s bureaucracy?" "Yes, after all you will need to know who not to piss off here." "Yeah, i''ve realized people here are ''stab-happy''." "Hah! Look at that! Already learning how to use helltonge to show individuality!" "Yeah, i''ve had enough of sounding like there is a translation robot inside my own head." "Heh, yeah, it can get boring pretty fast. Well then, bureaucracy. i''m not exactly knowledgeable about the other planes but what i do know is that there are nine planes in hell: the plains where every imp goes until they ascend, seven realms for our seven ''esteemed'' leaders and the last one in which a eternal battle is always underway." "Against whom?" "No clue. Now, that the plains is not under any official jurisdiction means that every mayor faction wants it''s piece of the pie, so there are six big factions and a bunch of minor ones, plus a ''neutral'' faction which acts as sort of a buffer zone between everyone else." "Wait, seven lords but six factions?" "There is a lord without a faction but it''s followers have formed the ''neutral'' one, though more than a faction they are a group of individuals that barely stand one another but group together because they abhor the other factions even more."This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it "Wait, the lords and their factions take their names from the seven cardinal signs right?" "Hmph, fancy name for basic instinctual responses, yes, so?" "So... let me guess, the stuck up ones that see everyone else as shit are pride right?" "Yeah, anything else?" "Why wasn''t there a pride path then?" "Because lord pride himself made something so necessary for everyone else that anyone calling themselves ascended get it as soon as possible, besides he didn''t want to be associated with something so generic every other lord had it too." "Alright... I guess it''s pride after all, then pact making is pride''s invention, right?" "Yes that is so. But it is more than that, from what it''s said it was the first pact itself why the SYSTEM hasn''t hunted us all down." "What? What is the system?" "Well, you saw it didn''t you? When you were brought to hell. I don''t know how you came, it''s different for everybody, but it should have been a large REINCARNATION sign where the other souls left before you came here." "Oh, shit, yeah, been there done that." "Well, that is the SYSTEM that governs over worlds, and, for some reason i have an inkling of, we don''t particularly get along, but it''s said that thanks to the first pact we have reached a sort of coexistence, and it is said that pride himself is the holder of that pact and that is the reason no other lord goes against him even if pride has no proper army of his own, thought he has indeed a follower base in his own plane and they are the ones overseeing the whole official matters of hell and it is said that pride himself could take on three other lords so..." "Alright, so don''t provoke a construct of immense power lording over worlds and give proper respects to the ones running the show am i right?" "Pretty much, but don''t forget that there are other factions and people here are generally, as you said, ''stab-happy''." So nine realms of murdering impersonations of the seven primordial things, the other beings at war with said assholes, a construct or being of unfathomable power that would surely be more that happy of freeing itself of us were it not for a contract held by the most obvious target for an enemy with resources to wage an timeless war against all of hell, not to mention that in the seemingly countless worlds under said SYSTEM, it doesn''t seem very likely we will be well received... well, could be worse, i could give a fuck. 11.Marble "Now that you know more or less who not to cross or who might target you later let''s tell you how and why it came to be. It is known that hell was not a part of the system and in a way still isn''t, i don''t know how the system came to be or where the souls come from but what i do know is that our souls are not like the ones cared for in the system, not only about not being able to grow stronger by ourselves but our souls, as i''m sure you''ve seen, are like marbles, solid...ish and the souls of other beings are like fountains of energy, as you may or may not have seen in your way down here." "Yeah... saw a bunch of them, when coming, thought there was another kind too..." "Whatever brought you here right?" "Yeah, it was like some impenetrable void..." "Don''t worry about that too much, it''s above our pay grade. Now the thing is that mortal souls also have some kind of core, different than our''s, but still. It radiates energy, but throughout their existence some of that energy is constantly being attached to that core of theirs, it''s refined, purer than the stuff that actually comes out, and as they live their lives and experience things, it makes them into who they are, their memories, personality, experiences and quirks, it''s a construct made from energy into their own soul using that core as the base, and the system is a construct that regulates that kind of thing somehow, now imagine what a surprise to the system when, as good a day as any other, one of that souls stops emitting energy. It suddenly condenses, turning neutral, and simply manages to exist and gain sapience in a form independent of the system, and that''s not all, no, to make itself stronger and gain the energy every soul needs to grow it starts predating the ''tame'' souls the system itself feeds off of. As you can imagine it was probably not very happy with that soul so it destroyed it, but that was not the end, if it was we wouldn''t be having this conversation, no, more souls keep turning, souls that until then were no different than any other were turning without rhyme or reason, so it keept hunting them, destroying them, now for some reason the way it uses to reincarnate souls just oh so happens to get rid of all the accumulation that soul made in it''s last life so it had it''s pets spread across worlds and realities to find them, labeling them as evil to the reincarnated, those turned were prosecuted and hated by everyone until they were destroyed. Until, one day, someone turned, not someone normal of course, someone powerful, really powerful, powerful enough that it''s pets were not able to get rid of him, one being can''t win against a coallition of such power, of course, but it was strong enough, and smart enough, to hide, hide somewhere even the system could not find him or reach him, somewhere outside the limits of the system. Where do you think it was?"The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "Somewhere even the system could not reach..." System limit ahead... "Out there? Where the souls reappear after their body dies?" "DING DING DING! BIG PRIZE FOR THE NAKED ONE!" "And that one was pride right? He made the pact making and the first pact to allow every turned a place?" "Nope, he wasn''t pride, he was ''hell-bent'' on destroying the system and made hell to gather an army with which to march against it. No one knows what happened to him, or at least no one here, all that we know is that he dissapeared, then pride took over, made the first pact, and we were tolerated from then on and sent here." 12.Summoning "Well, that''s about it with the history class, now i have to ask, do you have pact making?" "Yes, fortunately i do." "You don''t know how true that is, if you didn''t have it the only thing you could do is subordinate yourself to someone who does." "Why is that?" "Tell me, have you done a pact yet?" "Yeah, just before entering, why?" "Then this will be much simpler, how did you make the pact? I''m guessing you said something and then the construct appeared to tell you it was done and it was probably filled with extra bits of information or aclarations right?" "Yes... so?" "Have you seen how i did it?" "Wha... oh, you didn''t say it all, it just appeared how you wanted it." "That''s right, a pact is more than a simple agreement between two parties, it is a bond between souls, and as such it can happen as you want it without external requirements as long as you have focus and the know how of what you want and how to do it, but that also means that if you don''t have experience, it isn''t hard to commit a fatal mistake, and that is exactly what pact making does, it prevents fatal mistakes from happening because of a lack of experience, it fills in the ambiguity with objective terms while keeping to the pact maker''s original intentions, but, if that was all, more powerful beings wouldn''t really need it. No, the most important aspect of pact making for hell is this."This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
TEACHER#Zach HAS PUT Last IN QUEUE FOR A SUMMONING.
TEACHER#Zach#PRIVILEGES HAS PUT Last IN NEXT SUMMONING.
YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED.

"ATTACK!!" "GYAAAAAAHAAAAAHHAHAHA!!" Suddenly i find myself in a cave surrounded by around a dozen imps that are charging against a group of five or so people in medieval-looking leather armor. After standing still for a moment i am kicked to the ground from behind. " ******* **** ** *** ****!!! ATTACK THEM!"
OBEY THE SUMMONER OR PACT WILL BE TERMINATED.
That doesn''t sound good. I jump to my feet and run for the group already engaged with the other imps. There are two at the front holding the imps back with shields and two behind them attacking when they can, meanwhile the one at the back seems to be trying to hold against the bolts of violet energy that the one that kicked me is hurtling at them with some kind of light shield. Okay, a battlelfield, an order, i can do that. Cave''s too small to flank''em so... As i near them i lower my head and tense, when i am about to collide with one retreating imp at the front i push him towards the one without shield that was attacking it, the unexpected full on collision startles him and he tumbles, i use that moment to pass the line of defenders and run for the one in the back. " ***! ** ** ****!" As he tries to hit me with his mace in a horizontal swing i roll below the blow and end up between his legs. Now! " AAAAAAAHGGHAGGHAHH!!! ***! HAAAAaaaaahhhggggghhh...." Bullseye. 13.Dismiss. After the ranged defensor was... incapacitated, the bolts of energy started raining down on the enemy. And now the imps were the ones trying to keep their opponents from reaching our back lines, meanwhile i just kept clear of the battle and observed the one who summoned us, namely, the walking, seemingly human, artillery. It seems that they were counting solely on being able to stall the summoner while wiping the imps and then going in for the kill, because without their backline it didn''s seem they had anymore ways of defending against ranged attacks, as a result it wasn''t long until they faltered. After they were killed, quite gruesomely, by the imps, the summoner yelled again. "STOP! ***** ** *** ****... Pick that one up and bring him here." After receiving a direct order i had no choice but to do as he said and pick up the still unconscious man and drag him with some help by the five imps that remained. "*****, follow me." After some mumbling and a look of disgust directed to either us or our new prisoner, he just took off towards a dead end of the cave, or what i thought was a dead end, because after reaching it he just kept walking and passed trought the wall. Huh, swords and shields but that level of concealment tech... this is one of those ''fantasy'' weird worlds where everyone just forgets what ''research'', ''test'' and ''think'' means ain''t it? Well at least it isn''t a ''me against the world because everyone i can''t fuck is an arrogant idiot'' world... I''ve just jinxed myself haven''t i?If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. "HURRY!" As i pass the ''wall'' with the others in tow i notice just how big this place really is, it''s easily a hundred meters up and there are gigantic pillars with houses in them forming some sort of city i can''t see the end of. "FASTER YOU IDIOTS!" After being hurried we descend to ground level using stairs carved on the cave till the opening we just got out of, one of hundreds i can now see all over the cave... After some time walking the streets we finally arrive at what appears to be the stump of a pillar long fallen which has been turned into a jail, as we enter to leave the fainted man to the care of what i assume to be guards, after that we are brought to the front of a massive mansion constructed of some kind of red stone. "Alright, the one of you who took down the enemy caster stay, the rest are dismissed." As soon as he finishes speaking the other imps simply vanish leaving me alone. "I see you are not a half mindless beast, which, for the amount i paid, should be the case, so tell me, do you have combat training?" "Yes." "And do you have experience with small or large scale battles?" "I do." "Leading troops?" "Not the best." "Hmmm... alright, i will double the pay you receive this time if you agree to come to my aid next time i call for you." "Pact?" "No need, i am a warlock of my word, as are allhellspawn, right?" "Catch?" "You are smart, i will need that smart for a while, soon." "Well... I suppose i have nothing to lose. Alright." "Goodbye then. Dismiss." 14.Account. "Hmm, i see you retain your form, good work surviving your first, now focus, think about your possesions, your account and identity." "C... can i get a second first?" "Oh, of course. You are not yet accustomed to materializing and dematerializing so quickly. Take your time." "Wait, what? What does that mean?" "It''s nothing of importance, now focus on yourself using pact making as an extension to your thoughts." "Aaallright..."

12 DUST (10+2(1SUMMONING PACT COMPLETION+1 EXTRA ''i kept my word''))
"..." "So? How is it?" "Two? Only two dust for all that?" "Hm? Two? You''ve been lucky then, imps with your soul strenght usually get no more than one per summoning, thought i shouldn''t be surprised that a newbie champion has managed to exceed expectations. Very well, i think that covers what was pacted, i''m in a good mood thought so i won''t chase you out, in fact you may get an extra question answered if it amuses me, so, anything else?" "How... how many times is an imp summoned per cycle?"You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. "On average? One, two if they are lucky." "Alright then... Last question?" "Heh, good one, alright, fire away." "What faction are you on?" "Guess." "Well... you''re supposed to be a teacher and i can''t see that as stressless so i''m gonna rule out wrath..." "Hmhm." "You knew how much i gained from the pit and didn''t charge me everything i had so not greed, and i have no clue how lust would work in a body with no genitalia and made from our soul so... you didn''t stike me as particularly lazy either so sloth''s out." "Good so far." "Aaaand i haven''t really had a way to check gluttony or envy yet but by the hidden amusement and curiosity in your eyes i''m gonna say pride. Is it the neutral faction then?" "Ding, ding, ding. I didn''t expect to be so transparent but yes i am of pride, the ''neutral'' faction. How did you know? And don''t give me bullshit, i am not as dumb to not recognise you knew even before asking." "Well, i have dealt with many that sinned of the same before." "Interesting, now let me guess, you say that you have dealt with many who sinned of pride..." "I did, yes." "One of those sinners wouldn''t be, by any chance, one you saw every time you looked in the mirror, would it? "It seems i am the transparent one but, if you don''t mind me asking, how?" "The prize." "Sorry?" "The prize, and subsequent offer, are there to gauge the allegiances of the new champions, every single champion will be drawn towards the path that represents them more, except those without sin, heh, a rare breed. In the case of those prideful, they are either foolish enough to think they can hold on to the prize or smart enough to know to spend it, and frankly, i have yet to meet one of us that chose from the generic options. Of course it isn''t as if there aren''t those from other paths that initially choose pact making but you haven''t really made it all that difficult to find out." "Alright. Sooo... what now then?" "You are of Pride so, now i offer you entrance to our little faction, you reject it, and try to make a living for youself for some time until you either take off on your own or come back defeated for some backing." "Alright... i accept." "What?" "I accept your invitation." "But... why?" "Well, i really, really hate prejudices." 15.I.N.N. "HAH! Alright! I have to give it to you, that was a first." "So i''m in?" "Well, you certainly did an impression so, welcome to the ''Insert Nongeneric Name'' or ''I.N.N.'' for short." *blink*...*blink**blink**blink**Blink**Blink**BLINK**BLINK* "Huh, audible blinks, that''s absolutely going to the top ten." "Is... is it really called''Insert Nongeneric Name''?" "Yes." "...Alright, any specifics i may need to know?" "Mmm... i suppose i may as well explain the layout of the city in our way."
"Alright, let me see if i got it right... It is Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony, Greed, Envy and Lust, clockwise, right?" "That''s right, their position within the city is, according to them, symbolic." "According to them? And what is it according to you?" "Politics, what else? Many of the inhabitants of the plains foolishly think that when, if, they ascend, their existence will become a paradise of indulgence and comfort, and for that end they babble and squabble at each other as if it would bring them out of here. Noisy retards is what they are and nothing less. They have all the brains of a newcomer demon and half their bravery."If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. "Soooo... i''ve heard the distinction between demons and devils a couple times but, what does it mean?" "Trying to take my mind off politics by changing theme, are you?" "It depends... does it work?" "Heh! Yeah, it does. The distinction is due to what they were before turning into hellspawn, and usually how they turned too.As you can see the ''standard'' form or imps are anthropomorphic, that probably has a reason but for now let''s skip it, what were you before dying?" "Alright, yeah, i was anthropomorphic, but with a practically limitless number of worlds out there it doesn''t make sense that all beings with a soul capable of, what was it? condensing?" "Condensing, yes." "Well, the point is there must be non-anthropomorphic beings that turn into hellspawns so the imp standard makes no sense, right?" "You are quick on the uptake, i''ll give you that. Yes, that should be the case shouldn''t it? Well then, why isn''t it?" "Aaaaaaaah, i have no clue." "Neither me, it is and no one down here knows why. What''s important for now is that the anthropomorphic forms are prevalent as sapients within the system, and for some reason, unknown of course, only the souls of sapient beings condense and turn into hellspawn, now that prevalence means that over ninety percent of hellspawn are what is called ''Devils'' because of their similarity with prevalent sapients, but even with those uncanny numbers there are indeed species of non anthropomorphic sapients, and when they condense they turn into other, more appropiate forms, and thus ''Demons''. Of course there are individual names for their subgroups but they are not important now, so, got it?" "More or less, yeah, but, you said that how they turned had something to do with it..." "Oh right, almost forgot, this should not matter for now as you are still an imp, but it''s no big secret so... well, ascended, some of them, have the ability to turn others into hellspawn, for example, it is said that those who follow wrath can, at some point, duel a beast in a ritualistic duel and obtain said beast''s soul to turn into a war mount or pet by turning them into hellspawn, it''s also said that sapients that indulge with lust followers until their death can be turned into mindless hellspawn that follow their master''s every order like an IT customer service employee." 16.And thus, economy. "...and after mortals finish eating that pure bliss and pleasure they themselves become the food that is eaten by followers of gluttony for all eternity." "That shit''s messed up, are all hellspawns sadists or something?" "Hmm? Do you really think that from so many different beings entering hell all of them just coincidentally happen to share such a personality trait?" "...Why then all that pain?" "What drives large amounts of people coinhabiting together to act in mostly similar manners? Economy and politics of course." "What? What would that have to do with inflicting pain?" "I told you didn''t i? Dust comes from souls. It is the ''solid'' form of refined soul energy." "Refined? You mean the memories of a soul?" "Memories, personality, experiences, yes, that is what dust actually is, of course you won''t be able to get those memories from dust, it is just their most basic building blocks, grinded from it''s soul to dust that we consume." "So that is why everyone inflicts pain? They are grinding souls?" "Well... yes and no. The actual method of grinding souls is done in a different way, but the thing is, that there has to be something to grind, and normal accumulation of memories is slow, pain is a good way of making strong memories fast, making the soul attach more energy into said memories and subsequently obtaining more dust. The more a soul suffers, the more dust it produces for us, and thus, economy."If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. "Huh... didn''t expect that..." "Of course ever since hell''s creation the system''s, and by extension the god''s and reincarnating race''s, hatred and active hunting of hellspawns haven''t exactly helped to maintain amicable relationships between us, so there is actually a large number of hellspawn that receive pleasure in torturing of souls from system races. And we will be labeled evil either way because part of the reason the system doesn''t try to destroy us is because that way it can keep system''s gods and heretics in check by sending us every poor fool who tought estudying souls to try and overthrow the system was a good idea. So there you have it, politics. In exchange for that fear factor we gain ''rebellious'' and ''evil'' souls from the system each batch, now that doesn''t mean that any forces of ''good'' won''t try to kill us the instant they see us, but it means that if someone wants, we can be summoned to any of the realities under the system without the system interfering to personally destroy us for ''stealing'' soul dust." "Wait, then... who pays us? The summoner loses part of their soul each time or...?" "Heh. Now that i would want to see.... but no, the summoner pays in objects from that reality or the unrefined energy of their soul to the pact and then the pact judges the payment and sends the appropiate summoned and later pays them from the official reserves of dust." "And as pride is the holder of the pact he is basically the official head of hell..." "That''s right, his followers are official functionaries and they are the ones running hell''s calendar and official store, so they are the ones to decide what from the warehouse is offered in each cycle and for what cost and everything bought this way contributes to the pact''s dust reserves." 17.Addict. "Hmm. I guess that''s the end of our little talk, here we are, the inn." "It will take a while to get used to the name but, woaw, it is appropiate isn''t it?" After walking so much we had finally arrived to the center of the city, to the inn and did it live up to it''s name, the building was like a mid 20th century office building with the letters ''I.N.N.'' in bright neon red at the top, completely contrasting the simple surrounding buildings it was 20 floors tall and made of what looked like some kind of bright pink wood with a graffiti of a fully robed imp looking at a leather book and the phrase ''If you''re sitting there in your silly little thrones, with all your silly little armies, and you''ve got any plans on taking the city tonight, just remember who are standing in your way. Remember every single attemp you have made, and then, do the smart thing, let someone else try first.'' "No fucking way..." "What can i say? There are a surprisingly high number of universes with that show, in fact, there is the suspicion among many of us that that fact is no mere coincidence. Alas, to my knowledge, it''s never been proven so... for now we are content to use it as a logo, besides, it is nothing if not true." "Neutral faction my ugly ass..." "Oh but we are, we just don''t like those idiots trying to destroy the city with their stupidity."Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. When we entered i discovered the building looked like some giant medieval bar filled with other imps, and just after entering a little waiting room from a side passage i was left alone. "Wait here for a moment and i will fetch someone to introduce you, soon enough you will be the newest innkeeper and be given some work to do for the inn." "What about quarters? A room? Or..." "Or." "Alright. Thanks, i guess..." "You''re welcome, welcome home." After some time a different imp entered the room and brought me to an office in the fourth floor, after going there i had to fill out some kind of employee form with what i had experience with and what i wanted to work as, i just wanted some time to adjust to actually living in hell so i just wrote ''I have no idea what an innkeeper is supposed to do but i can take orders and like travelling wherever no one else wants to.'' When i finished the imp took the form somewhere else, after coming back he told me that in lieu of me being a champion and teach''s recommendation i would be put in probation in the summoning response team. "Your job will be to follow your superior to answer summonings from the clients of the inn, there are not a lot of willing staff so a single squad will be comprised of five base soldiers and a sergeant." "Yeah, i can see why you whould be short of soldiers in an organization comprised basically of prideful people..." "Armies function by respecting hierarchy and following orders after all. But thanks to that the squads are quite busy so it should allow you to get some dust quickly if you are as willing to put up with it as you seem." I go to hell andeverything turns crazy and yet, nothing really changes, i am starting to think they were right... i am a fucking addict. "Count me in, then." But i will be the best fucking addict this shithole has ever seen. 18.Foot Soldier

"Very well, I''ll take him in, i suppose standard drill?" "It seems he has had some military training so skip that, just get him some equipement, the pin and go for some practice." "Alright, newbie, let''s go to the armoury, and let''s see what you know." "Alright but, what is that about a pin?" "Well... it doesn''t matter if we are prideful, we are an army so there has to be some distinctive from everyone else." "Does that mean there is no official uniform? Just a pin?" "That''s right, there were some concesions to keep everyone more or less happy so you can wear whatever you want." "Hah...HahahahahahaHAhHAHAHA! Yeah! HAHAHAHA!" "Huh... you seem... oddly happy with this? Something the matter?" "Ehem... sorry, it''s just that... i wasn''t exactly given much choice over the matter in a... long time." "... Alright whatever. "I''m done." "Alright, now let''s... what?" "It''s a poncho." "I... i know it''s a poncho, i just... i don''t know if i''m more surprised that you chose it or that we had it at all..." "It''s comfortable so... is it a problem?" "No, no just... let''s go."
"Alright newbie. Any specialties you want to speak of, besides leaving people dumbstruck for the strangest of reasons." "Well, most of my career was about bouncing from battlefield to battlefield and destruction operations from deep behind enemy lines so, i know how to keep myself hidden against conventional means, barehanded combat and some infiltration and assassination techniques that are mostly useless because i can''t exactly go unnoticed, but i can hold my own in the frontline well enough." "Hmmmm... so an elite multipurpose infiltration team that could serve as reinforcements in case of necessity?" "More like a suicide squadron that was expendable enough to use at leisure." "You''ve won the pit with practically the lowest soul level an imp can have, in my book, that means elite level." 19.Soulstuff. *Whoosh* "GO! Let''s see how you fare newbie!" "Dammit! How the hell am i supposed to contend with that?" *Boom!* "Come on! A simple fire mage is enough to stop you? Hah! And you call yourself elite?" "No! I don''t! You do! And there is a fucking barrier of fire on the only entrance to that shitty cave! I can''t see shit in the inside!" "HAHAHA! If it was so easy we wouldn''t have been summoned don''t you think? Now get your ass off that rock and stop that mage!" *Whoosh* Think think think. *Boom!* "Shit!"That shit just sticks to everything! It is fucking magical napalm! *Whoosh**Boom!* Wait! Of course! That''s it! *Whoosh* One, two, three, fou*Boom!* "Still alive newbie? If you take much more time the vanguard will finish with the distraction and i don''t think they will like what we are trying to do!" "I''m on it!" Five seconds between volley and four more to explode... Now! I pick up a rock and get off cover and stand in the open, advancing like a fool. "Hey! I''m heeere!"Aaaand...Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. *Whoosh* If this doesn''t work that''s gonna hurt... *Swoosh* *Plop* *Boom!* "Hyyyaaaaaagg!!!" "Ha! That worked!" "Damn, newbie! Didn''t think you could pull that off. Alright guys, make sure that one''s dead, shouldn''t be too difficult after a direct hit from his own spell, those things are nasty and burn like mad." "It''s done, serge! Burned half''is head off, bashed the other half in." "A''ight boys, contract''s done so let''s get the hell outta here."
"Well done newbie, but i have to say, not many have that accuracy throwing random objects like that rock, nor the timing to intercept the spell and send it back, on the other hand, why haven''t you bought any weapon? I can''t see that poncho being so expensive." "To be honest i don''t know how to use almost anything you have for sale, it''s all medieval-like weapons and such, most advanced i''ve seen was a crossbow so..." "Right, you probably come from a technologically advanced world. Well, you see, with a quasi-infinite number of realities there is not much that all of them have in common, souls is one thing, and the system is another, and that is basically all, if you bring something from one world to another, the most probable thing that can happen is that it can''t even exist there and it just destabilizes reality, and even if it doesn''t just explode in your face it sure as hell isn''t going to work as intended, but you know what works everywhere, every time?" "What?" "Stabbing them in the eye, and bashing their heads in. That works, and we stick to that." "Wait but, if we can''t bring things from one reality to another, why can we bring these weapons? Hell, why can we go ourselves? We are not exactly from that reality." "No, we aren''t. But here, we are just souls given shape, and our own soul power keeps us stabilized, that''s why we can recover from almost anything, why we don''t need to sleep, or eat or get tired while we are here. And when we go somewhere we adopt a body according to local laws and our soul power is usually not enough to maintain us, so we sleep, eat, heal slower, etcetera..." "That still doesn''t explain how we bring our things, they don''t have souls... do they?" "No, but hell is not like the other realities, it was made to be a staging ground for hellspawn so every time we are summoned the summoner has to offer something to hell, diluted soul power, usually called mana, and objects, which are then turned intosoulstuff that we can then use to build and craft things, and those things can be brought to other realities using our soul power and used there, but that only works for things that don''t have to change, like a sword, or a poncho, we can''t make explosives or acids because we can''t know how they will react to wherever we go, the most we can do is make things that affect the souls of system races, but those things are costly, and usually one-time use, and need a shit ton of power to bring and keep stable so..." "...So we keep to bashing heads?" "You got it, newbie." 20.Envy. Weapons... weapons... weapons... "What the hell are you doing?" "Thinking." Weapons... "...About?" "Weapons." "Have you heard what I was saying?" "...Nope." "Haaah... anyway, have you decided on a weapon yet?" "I think so, yes." "And?" "The crossbow, it is the only weapon that I might, perhaps, have an idea of how to use, maybe." "Alright. You will be a ranged combatant, I assume you haven''t bought it yet?" "No." "Then you will want to make haste, we have an scheduled summon." "Summons can be scheduled?" "Of course they can, now go get the crossbow. Oh and, don''t forget to buy some arrows too." "Right, they need ammunition."

"All right soldiers! The cycle has come! Some idiotis trying to weasel their way out of a contract and we ain''t about to accept that are we? So now we are gonna take that idiot and shove his head so far up his ass that his soul will be inside out by the time we are done. Now i know large scale operations are not the usual and some of you might be feeling cranky, but i also know that you all are of pride, so you will take those complaints and choke on them until we finish the operation ''cause guess who? ENVY!. That''s right folks, that''s how the idiot is trying to get out, and are we gonna let those fuckers have half a reason to parade like peacocks in front of us for the next batch? Hell. Fucking. NO! So man up and get going till those rats go burrowing back to the fucking hole in the ground they call home! Now refer to your superior officer for each individual mission."
"You heard the liutenant colonel boys, now go get everything you may need and come back, we set out as soon as everyone is here." ""Yes, sir."" "You stay, newbie." "Sir?" "You got the crossbow already?" "Yessir." "Alright. You aren''t part of any squad yet so you will be allocated to the ranged company, probably the crossbow platoon, go to the shooting range and speak with the corresponding officer." "Yessir."
"Those with shields upfront, i want a row of pavise in an inverse semicircular formation, when we get there we will have to take high ground and start loosing, if they think some shitty village palisade will be enough to make us lose in range they have it coming." "Sir?" "Yeah? What?" "I''ve been sent here to join the ranged company, sir." "Oh yeah? What''s your name?" "Last, sir." "Let''s see... A newbie? And in probation? Fuck. Do you have any experience with that?" "No, sir. But i have experience with more advanced ranged weapons." "Oh, you do? Thank god, what would we do without you? Get in that line there and try not to get killed, maybe you''ll even hit something, just try not to make that something an ally." "Yes, sir." "As if i was not in enough shit already theywant me to take care of some newbie..." Note to self: Not piss off ranged company''s Captain. 21.Battle. And again i find myself doing battle in a war i know little of... well, at least now i am not restricted by anything but my own choices. After the summoning i find myself at the edge of a forest, with a wooden pallisade around a hudred meters in front with a little hill around halfway there to the left. "CROSSBOWS TO THE HILL! NOW! ARCHERS UP THE TREES AND SUPPORT THEM!" After hearing that order i stop gawking at the scenery and get moving, in time too because i''mat the rear and the ones in front of me are already running, and there are some archers from the pallisade loosing at us. After the ones with shields at the front get to the hill some enemies appear from the other side of it, we are around 20 and the enemy is easily double that, thankfully for us, we all have already loaded crossbows and they aren''t wearing much armor, so when we loose around 15 guys fall, as they continue rushing towards us some of us drop their crossbow, plant their shields if they have them and draw a melee weapon, at least the front liners are well equipped, crossbow plus shield and a spear to hold the front, even if they are only six and half the rest don''t even have a secondary weapon, me included, but after seeing that the bulk of the army is already engaged trying to breach the walls and no enemy will make it past them in a while i reload as fast as i can, so as slow as one can expect and then some, and then try to look for somewhere i can loose with a reasonable chance of not killing some of our own, those with melee weapons are bunched up forming a line against the enemy to, presumably, give us enough time to reload and loose again, they are doing great taking into account they are outnumbered two to one, but they are circling them to get to us so i loose another bolt towards one trying to do just that, and it seems i was not the first to reload because there is more than one corpse on the ground already, and then i see an arrow fly from behind me and strike another one to the ground, after that there are more arrows doing just that, by the time i lift my head to look for another enemy i see there are less of them then of us now and counting down. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. "THE TOP IS CLEAR! ARCHERS TAKE IT! CROSSBOWMEN TO THE MAIN ARMY AND HELP COVER THEM!" As that is heard the ones on the fron sheathe their weapons, pick up their crossbow and shield and start running to where the main army is drawing the attention of the defenders. So of course the rest of us follow them. As we run there i look up and see an imp covered in robes up the pallisade with a pole twice as long as he is tall glowing in a noticeable murky red, as soon as i see it the glow starts to poll and condense at the tip, then the imp points towards our direction. *WHOOOOOOOSH!* Oh shi*BOOOOOOOOM!*

"Take it easy kid, you have just recuperated from a vast amount of damage, quite frankly, i would consider it a miracle if not because the gods are assholes who hate us all." "Aaaahh... Shit... What the hell was that?" "That was, in no uncertain terms, magic. First time?" "Seeing it? No. Being hit by it? Yeah." "Bad luck then. Most aren''t hit by that level of magic until third or fourth batch, and don''t survive it, wich brings me to the question, how did you? It shouldn''t have been possible for someone so weak, and certainly not with all limbs intact, so, how did you do it?" "Yes, of course, no clue." "Pardon?" "Not a clue, sir...?" "Oh, oh! Of course! You do are new. I am Tathe, mage division. Now, i have been told you have pact making, right?" "Yes, sir" "Then concentrate on it and visualize yourself, think about who you are, what you can do, etcetera...." "Yes,sir."

"Huh..."Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. "Show me." "How?" "Will it." "Aaalright... Can you see it?" "Hmmm, interesting, but what i want to see are your traits." "Traits, traits... this is..."
#Last Traits:
Emergency Regeneration: ¡¤Adds ''Change'' stat to ''Regeneration'' stat at the cost of ''Change'' in bodily stats.Stat loss will be regained gradually upon deactivation. ¡¤Adds ''Soul Energy'' temporary resource at the cost of bodily stats. Stat loss will be regained by reinbursment of energy after deactivation.
"Hmmm... Yes, this must be why... interesting indeed,a rather useful trait given enough time to act, hm? Why that face? Let me guess, this is similar to some capability you had before you came home, am i right?" "How... how is this here? I... don''t have the body i did back then, do i?" "No, you certainly don''t, but the body you have now is constructed by your soul, so anything you feel subconsciously that you should have, you will have, within the limits of your power of course, so i suggest you make a couple tests and find out if you have any other surprises waiting. Use your vacation well." "Yes, siWait. Vacation?" "Huff. Yes, vacation, to all soldiers participating in this battle, we will call you again when it''s over." "Thank you, sir. Farewell, sir."
Vacation, vacation... what do people do with their free time?... Oh well, i guess i will just tour the place. Oh, my things, i have to get them back, are they even here anymore? Let''s see, poncho... pretty damn singed, and my pants are now shorts but... meh, nowcrossbow...it has gone flying quite a way back, a bolt in the crossbow, two in my now-shorts, and there should be two more by the hill... oh shit, this one''s broken, snapped from the middle... well, i guess i''m lucky everything else is okay and no one stole anything... Can things even be stolen from us? Are they soul-bonded or something? I guess that would make sense... if they have to stay as long as i stay they wouldn''t steal them but can they be stolen while in hell?... Huh, things to consider, for sure. 23.Promotion. "Hmmm~~??? ?????? ???~~~" *Chiririp~~?? Chirp~? Chiriiiirirp~??? Chiiiriiiriiip~???~~* "Ha! Look at that, i have a chorus!?? ??~~" *Chirp~~? Chiiiirp~?* "Pffahahaha! I love this place already!"
"Wake up." "Huh? Ah? Oh. Hello, sir Tathe." "Yes, hello, what is all this?" "Hmm, sorry sir, i fear i don''t undestand what do you mean." "This, a straw hat, a fishing rod, where have you found thestring?" "Used the one in the crossbow, sir." "... Whatever, pick up your things, vacation''s over." "Yes, sir. Ohmp!" "Is that an arrowhead?" "Yes, sir. Not the best hook but it does the job." "Are you doing this on purpose?" "Erm... Doing what? Sir." "Just... forget it. Is that all?" "Yes, sir. No! Wait, ehem!. ???~ ????~ ?~~" *Chiiiiririiip~???Chiriiiip~?? Chirp~?* "... I don''t care. It''s not my problem. Let''s go."
*Clank* Huh, that''s one question answered but... i wish i could have kept the hat... oh well... "Here we are. Now, as you survived you haven''t been paid yet so... there, done. Let''s see... payment, check, and... oh right."
YOU HAVE BEEN PROMOTED TO #FootSoldier.
YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED TO SQUAD#00433.
"...There, wait here for your squad to come. They will give you further instructions." "Yes, sir." I''ll take a look at my stats and account and everything else meanwhile, i guess.
