《Transmigrated Sniper》 Prologue Skies burned and ashes fell from it like rain. What remained of a glorious city were rubbles with bodies littered everywhere and houses that still burned. Spent cartridges were also littered everywhere like leaves that fell from a tree during autumn with burning wrecks of planes and tanks. ¡°Mama!¡± a young voice cried out from all the destructions. A little girl with crimson red hair was seen hugging a mutilated body of a women. Even though the city was in rubbles, it was not totally abandoned. Soldiers could be seen with grim look on their faces, their attire looking worn out with some having blood on it, either their own or from another. Majority were cleaning their weapons while others were either moving the bodies or drinking from their water canteen. ¡°I won¡¯t forgive them¡¡± the girl muttered under her breath, clenching her fist tightly. ¡°You need to move to a safer location. Over here is not safe.¡± one of the soldier told her before walking away. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website. All of a sudden, screeches filled the air and winged like humanoid creatures swooped out of the air and began to pluck the screaming soldiers into the air. Some were torn to shreds by the creatures sharp claws. The rest quickly readied their weapons and begun firing at the creatures. Sounds of gunfire filled the air with the bolt action rifles but the winged creatures did not go down in one shot but needed multiple. The soldiers that were plucked from the ground was bitten in their neck before they went unconscious and was taken away. ¡°Shoot the ones that were taken! Being dead would be their wish compared to being taken alive!¡± one of them shouted out. Soon, the machine guns were setted up and the rest of the creatures quickly retreated. The soldiers quickly surrounded the downed creatures and stabbed them multiple times with their bayonet, even making sure to stab the head plenty as they were known to pretend to be dead to lower their enemies guard. Once more, terrible ear grinding screeches filled the air along side roars that shook the earth. A huge army could be seen heading the direction of the city. The winged creatures were only the scouts for it. Army filled creatures that invoked nightmare marched on. One of the huge monstracity at the back opened his mouth and shot out a glob of green ball into the sky which arced over and exploded over a small part of the city. Anything touched by the green slime that rained down had instantly started to melt. Those that caught it on their face scream out loud in pain as the acid melted through their face. Others quickly tore off their clothes that had caught the slime. Guns were ruined and no longer usable. One of them went to check up on the little girl but she was nowhere to be found. Dread filled his body as he ran around searching for her because he knew she was no longer in the city. 1. Awakening After what seemed like an eternity, I slowly opened my eyes. A wave of dizziness immediately assaulted my head relentlessly as I looked around. It seemed that I was in some kind of a dilapidated shed. I was lying on a stack of hay that made my back itch as I slowly sat up. The first thing I noticed upon standing up was my height. Either my mind was playing tricks on me or I shrank noticeably. A breeze shortly entered through the cracked window and fluttered the skirt that I was wearing. The breeze continued on and gently flowed through my hair. ¡°Hold on, I don¡¯t remember my hair being this long as well.¡± I thought to myself. After a quick thinking, a sickeningly conclusion came to my mind. ¡°This isn¡¯t my body!¡± I wailed out loud in despair. Looking around wildly, I scrambled for the door, only to realize that something was preventing the door from opening on the other side. I banged on the door and pushed with all my might but it did not even budge an inch. I glanced at the window before attempting to break it with my fists but to no avail as well. I slowly laid back down on the stack of hay before thinking about my situation. ¡°First of all, what happened to my body? This clearly isn¡¯t mine. I was on my way home but then I just woke up here in this body. Was I kidnapped and this is all some sort of an experiment?¡± I shuddered before a hunger pain assaulted my stomach. I looked around for anything to eat or drink but there was nothing except a stack of hay in this empty shed. Hours passed and I was beginning to feel despair at the thought of dying from lack of sustenance when the door creaked open slightly and a bowl was pushed in before shutting the door again. I crawled over to the bowl before hungrily devouring it¡¯s content. It was a meager bowl of porridge but food nonetheless. ¡°Am I a prisoner of some sort? This would most likely be the case as I seemed to be weakened intentionally and locked up.¡± I concluded. Soon night came and I slowly drifted off to sleep. Upon waking up from the uncomfortable hay, I found another bowl of porridge placed inside. The amount given seemed to reduce slightly with every bowl. This was bad. I needed to figure out a way to escape this place before I slowly died of starvation. Once again, I tried to open the door and was expecting to fail but the door opened this time and swung outwards. ¡°Huh? Why is it unlocked this time?¡± I stumbled out of the shed for the first time since awakening in this body. The cool breeze fluttered against my skin. I was in some sort of a clearing surrounded by huge trees that looked like they could block out the sunlight if they wanted to. There was no sign of anyone else. It was too quiet. No sign of birds chirping or insects making noises. Only the sound of a breeze going over the grassy clearing and the sound of the leaves shaking. Spotting a small puddle of water in a distance, I slowly hobbled towards it, hoping to check if the water was drinkable. The only source of water I had gotten was from the porridge. To my surprise, the water looked crystal clear with no sign of debris floating around in the water. I stared into my reflection in the water. A small petite face of a girl stared back. Her face was malnourished and had mismatching colors in her eyes. This body looked of that of a 14 year old. Her abnormally long dirty black hair cascaded down her back which stood out against her pale skin from the patches in the shirt she was wearing. After examining myself, I bend down to scope up some water by cupping my hands and drank it thirstily. Once I had extinguished my thirst, I looked around once moe. The sky was particularly strange. It felt as if the sky was very high, far too high in fact. ¡°Where am I?¡± I asked no one in particular. Once I got to the edge of the clearing, I could only see a sea of trees blocking my vision. I started to climb up a tree as I needed to know which directions to go to but quickly abandoned the idea after falling back down. Trying to climb with a weakened body was too dangerous. While I was deciding to whether try my luck and venture out into the forest or wait for the person that brings food, I heard the snapping of branches and footsteps coming from the forest, the sound gradually getting nearer and nearer. I quickly ran back to the shed but instead of going inside, I hid behind it, away from the direction of where the footsteps were coming from. ¡°Quick quick, give her the food and let¡¯s get out of here!¡± a voice laced with urgency called out to someone beside her. ¡°Wait a minute, the door is open! Did you forget to lock the door again!?¡± another voice lashed out. I took a peek and spotted 2 girls older than me wearing strangely, a yukata. They looked to be around my age. Why would they be doing this? My eyes flashed with disdain and picked up a nearby stick to use as a weapon, however flimsy it appeared to be. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°Quick! Go and search for her!¡± the voice that lashed out ordered. A set of footsteps could be heard hurriedly going back into the forest, presumptuously to look for her. Another set slowly came towards my location. ¡°I know you are there. Come out already.¡± the voice called out. I slowly walked out from behind the shed showing myself. Seeing as I was holding the stick as a weapon, the other person only laughed with ridicule clearly visible in her eyes. ¡°And what do you hope to accomplish with that stick? Be a good girl and scurry back into your shed now.¡± she ridiculed opening up a hand held fan and covering her mouth in a practised motion. ¡°Who are you and what do you want?¡± I called out while brandishing the stick in front of me. A look of surprise appeared in her eyes before starting to fan herself. ¡°Oh my, pretending to have amnesia are we? Go back into the shed before I get angry.¡± Upon seeing that I had no intention of going back in, she sighed. ¡°Don¡¯t blame me for being roughed up then!¡± She quickly jumped backwards before using her fan and swinging it in my direction. A blast of wind quickly knocked me over my feet before getting back up, not showing any expression despite being shocked inside. ¡°How was that possible? A simple swipe of her fan caused a wind strong enough to knock someone over?¡± I pondered hard. ¡°So stubborn aren¡¯t you?¡± she said with a glint in her eyes. Once again, she repeated the same action but I immediately jumped out of the way before rushing towards her, intending to hit her with the stick. Before I could reach her, something tripped my feet and I went sprawling onto the ground. I looked back on what tripped me and it was a tree root sticking out of the ground which was oddly out of place for it to be here. ¡°Stay away from my sister!¡± a figured yelled out, running towards us from a distance. ¡°Dammit, this body is too weak!¡± cursing myself under my breath, attempting to stand back up before the girl with the fan used her feet which had heels on to push my head back on to the ground. ¡°Stay down there like the lowly insect you are.¡± she calmly said while pushing my head further into the ground. I was about the grab the leg pushing me down when she stopped and kicked my head instead, knocking me out. Upon waking up, I found myself lying on a bed inside a room resembling an infirmary. My head was bandaged and an IV bag hooked up nearby with a thin tube running in to my arm. There was a person sitting down and sleeping with her head on the bed who stirred from her slumber after noticing me waking up. ¡°Rica! You are finally awake! Do you know how worried I was when you were gone missing for a week?!¡± the girl with the crimson red hair sitting down cried out before jumping and hugging me. ¡°What happened?¡± I asked, not understand what was going on. ¡°You were found unconscious bleeding from an injury you sustained on your head!¡± the girl cried out before continuing to hug me. ¡°Who are you and where am I?¡± I continued to ask. The girl wiped away her tears before looking at me with a shocked expression. ¡°Yo-you don¡¯t remember me?¡± She suddenly started crying again before exclaiming that I must have gotten amnesia from the blow to my head before rushing out of the room. Once again, I found myself at lost on what to do. It seemed that someone had changed the rags that I was wearing to the matching uniform the girl that ran off had worn. I stood up and looked out of the window. I was probably in a school of some sort. Not before long, the girl ran back in with a doctor in tow. Noticing that I was standing, she hurriedly asked me to lie back down on to the bed. ¡°Miss, can you tell me what you remember so far? For example, how you got injured or the first day coming to the academy.¡± the doctor asked before preparing to take down some notes. ¡°I honestly cannot remember anything? I cannot recall my own name either.¡± I answered half truthfully. ¡°Seems you have a severe case of amnesia. Miss Charlotte, please make sure to help her to follow her daily class and routines. It may trigger some of her memories back.¡± the doctor recommended before taking down some notes and walking out of the room. ¡°My name is Charlotte Lyrisca and your name is Rica. You never told me your last name before.¡± Charlotte explained. ¡°We are currently attending the Guild¡¯s Academy for people with special abilities.¡± she continued. ¡°Huh? What special abilities?¡± I asked dumbfounded. ¡°This is more serious than I thought.¡± the doctor said seriously. ¡°Huh? Didn¡¯t you leave the room already?¡± I asked dumbfounded to the doctor that was standing by the side of the bed. I had to rub my eyes the second time to see if he was really there. ¡°This doctor is famous in the city for his renown medical skills as well as having the ability to teleport.¡± Charlotte explained watching my eyes become wider and wider in disbelief. ¡°What..? Teleportation? Stop pulling my legs! There is no way anyone can do that!¡± I snapped. All of a sudden, someone rested his hand on my shoulder. ¡°Calm down Miss. You need to control your temper.¡± No way. He was just standing right ¡ in .. front ¡ of ¡.. me. But then again, this might not be the Earth anymore. ¡°Do you believe it now? If so, I will be taking my leave.¡± and once again, the doctor disappeared. ¡°Want to see mine?¡± Charlotte excited said, interrupting my train of thoughts. ¡°Sure.¡± ¡°Okay, here goes!¡± and after she said that, a bright spark illuminated the room before a fireball formed in her palms. ¡°!!!¡± ¡°A fly is going to enter your mouth if you continue to keep it open.¡± Charlotte giggled before the fireball was extinguished. ¡°What¡¯s mine, what¡¯s mine?¡± I asked excitedly. I should have some sort of cool ability right since I am not from this world ¡ probably. ¡°Huh? Uh¡ about that, your ability is to store items in a pocket dimension.¡± Charlotte nervously answered while fidgeting with her fingers. ¡°Anything else? Storing items without needing a bag sounds really great!¡± I answered enthusiastically. ¡°That¡¯s about it.¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°It can¡¯t be that bad. Just that it has ¡ it has ¡ no offensive .. capabilities..¡± Charlotte answered downheartedly. ¡°Oh.. but why is having offensive capabilities important?¡± I asked curiously. ¡°Support capabilities are important too like having the ability to heal for example but offensive is the most important ability to have since it will most likely contribute more to the war.¡± Charlotte explained. ¡°War? What war?¡± I asked, my eyes widening in surprise. ¡°The war against the daemons. Foul beings that appeared on the other continent through a portal and wreaked havoc upon it. Millions died when they first attacked and have now taken over the entire continent and resides on it.¡± Charlotte angrily explained, her eyes full of hate momentarily. ¡°I see¡¡± Silence momentarily filled the air before it was broken by a cheerful voice. ¡°The doctor cleared you for discharge although I will need to accompany you. Let¡¯s go back to our room.¡± Charlotte said while helping me out of the bed. ¡°Don¡¯t worry about your ability. I am sure it will still be useful for example, helping to carry supplies and stuff!¡± We walked down on to the ground floor before entering another building, most likely to the dormitory. I was thinking about the things she said about wars and daemons. Seems like this isn¡¯t such a boring world. Entering our room, Charlotte excused herself before going out and mentioning that she had classes to attend to while I got take the day off for today. As I went to shower, I noticed something strange with my eyes. Previously, my left eye was blood red and my right eye was that of the color of a green kiwi but now, both was kiwi green. 2. Incoming Battle ¡°Huh? What¡¯s up with my eyes? Now that I think about it, who were those 2 girls before that were responsible in locking me up in that shed?¡± I wondered to myself. Remembering about my ability, I was curious what was already inside but realized that I had no clue on how to use the ability. While thinking on how to use the ability, my stomach growled in protest. ¡°Urgh¡. Wish I could have a snicker bar right now..¡± I groaned but just as I voiced out my thought, a kiwi green ripple in the air appeared and a snicker bar was slowly pushed out of it, half of it still stuck in the ripple. ¡°Huh? Is that my ability to store items in a pocket dimension? But why did a snicker bar appear? I doubt this world has something like that..¡± I wondered before pulling out the bar and the ripple disappeared. After opening the seal on the bar, I took a sniff before taking a small bite. It certainly tasted like the real thing! Hunger took over me and I practically inhaled the bar down. I threw the wrapper into the waste bin but didn¡¯t notice it breaking down into small particles and disappearing as well. ¡°Maybe my ability is not storing but summoning anything I think of?!¡± I excitedly thought before thinking of a car which I always wished I had but nothing happened sadly. Before I could test my ability out more, the room door opened and Charlotte came in. ¡°Why haven¡¯t you still taken a shower?¡± Charlotte asked while narrowing her eyes at me, noticing that I was half naked with a messy bed hair. ¡°I was too busy trying out my ability.¡± I replied in an embarrassed tone, fiddling with my hair. ¡°Well, I came back to get something I forgot and it¡¯s in your storage. It¡¯s my set of armor.¡± Charlotte explained while looking apologetic. ¡°Okay here goes, come out Charlotte armor!¡± I proclaimed out loud expecting something to happen. ¡°...¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°Oh right, you need to have a clear image to take things out from your pocket dimension.¡± Charlotte apologetically said before taking out a black and white picture. After looking at the picture and imagining taking it out, the same ripple appeared before the armor got thrown out of it and into Charlotte, knocking her over. ¡°Awahh ¡ HEY! What did you do that for!¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know! It just acted on it¡¯s own!¡± I exclaimed, trying to defend myself. ¡°Well, I will be going.¡± Charlotte huffed before picking herself off the floor and leaving before saying a word of thanks. ¡°Hmm, I see. So that¡¯s how my ability works. I need to have seen it visually then I can pull it out from the dimension. Normally, this won¡¯t be an issue but I ain¡¯t Rica and I don¡¯t have her memories so I don¡¯t have a clue what she stored in it.¡± I thought depressingly. ¡°But that snicker came out when I wished for it ¡ could it be that my stuff from my world was transferred into the dimension as well?¡± I stood up excitedly. Wishing for my cooking pan to appear, the ripple appeared once again with the pan coming out half way, waiting for me to pull it out. ¡°Wow! It really is mine!¡± I exclaimed out loud, jumping up and down. ¡°This is amazing!¡± After willing it to disappear, the pan dissolved into small particles before disappearing. I continued to experiment with this new ability of mine and before long, the sky soon turned dark. ¡°... Hey wake up!¡± someone asserted. Someone was shaking me awake from my deep slumber. ¡°Urgh ¡ just 5 more minutes..¡± I mumbled before attempting to fall asleep again. ¡°You¡¯re going to be late for class! Wake up!¡± someone screeched into my ears before jolting me awake. The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings. ¡°Class? What class? I already graduated.¡± I said in my sleep stupor. ¡°Graduated? What graduated? You are only in your second year!¡± Charlotte impatiently said before pulling me out of my bed. ¡°Nooo I don¡¯t want to go to class again ¡ I want to drop out!¡± ¡°Stop speaking nonsense and let¡¯s go!¡± Charlotte huffed. The classroom was design was like that of a mini auditorium. Various students was already seated inside. I could feel their stare as I walked into the classroom. I followed Charlotte to the back of the classroom before sitting down next to her. Before I could ask Charlotte something, an adult, most likely the teacher barged into the class before slamming down a thick stack of papers onto his desk. ¡°It¡¯s time for your midterms. You will have 30 minutes to complete this 5 page essay.¡± the teacher drawled on while distributing the papers by flying each of them to every student via some ability. ¡°..... Huh?¡± I sat there dumbfounded as the paper landed in front of me, on my desk. ¡°Your midterm starts now!¡± the teacher announced and the sound of scribbling filled the air. ¡°Excuse me¡¡± I raised my hands and tried to explain my situation but was shot down immediately by the teacher. ¡°No talking during midterms! I don¡¯t care if you had a fatal injury or whatsoever, you will sit down and you will complete this essay!¡± I turned the paper over slowly, reading the topic of the essay. I could not even read this writing! ¡°Oh god¡. I am so screwed¡¡± I groaned. ¡°Alright, time¡¯s up! Put your writing utensils down now or get zero for your midterms!¡± the teacher boomed before all the papers collected neatly on his desk. After collecting them, he left the class in a hurry. ¡°Charlotte¡.¡± I said depressingly to the person next to me. ¡°What?¡± ¡°I can¡¯t read¡.¡± I mumbled. ¡°... I always assumed you could read since you could talk. This amnesia is pretty serious.¡± Charlotte confirmed. ¡°Come on, let¡¯s go for our next lesson. It¡¯s at the other block.¡± Charlotte said as she dragged my depressed self out of the class. Next lesson turned out to be our ability training with many instructors on the field. As I walked past the field, I could see various scenes that would have been impossible in my previous world. Various chunks of ice were flying around or the ground wobbling and the blue electricity that crackled through the field. ¡°There are support classes and offensive classes. Each have 5 levels with level 5 being the strongest for offensive and being the most versatile and useful for supports.¡± Charlotte explained since I had the amnesia. ¡°Mine is level 4. Levels are not permanent and can increase or in some rare cases, decrease.¡± Charlotte continued. ¡°I see, what¡¯s my level?¡± I prodded. ¡°Yours is level 2. Even though you can carry more things ordinary people, that¡¯s the most you can do apparently compared to lets say, a healer which would be level 4. Don¡¯t worry, I am sure it will increase in the future.¡± Charlotte said while making the effort to sound reassuring. ¡°Oh... only level 2¡¡± ¡°Hey! It¡¯s Charlotte!¡± someone shouted out and before long, people started gathering around her, pushing me away and trying to befriend her or praise her, trying to get her attention. ¡°Jeez, I had no idea she was this popular.¡± I grumbled before something caught my eye. Walking towards it, I left practice field and towards another field which had another set of participants on it. Most notable difference was that there was no strange magical ability being performed here. Instead, there were rows of targets with people holding what appeared to be bolt action rifles. ¡°Guns? I thought I was in a fantasy world but with medieval knights from movies I watched before. This is amazing!¡± I jumped up and down with joy in my mind as I walked towards them briskly. ¡°Excuse me but can I try them out?¡± I asked politely, noticing that the guns were the Lee-Enfield rifles. ¡°Huh? Girls should not be playing around with dangerous weapons. Shoo shoo.¡± one of them waved me off while the others laughed. ¡°Hmph, I could probably aim better than you oaf.¡± I fumed. ¡°You little shi-¡± before he could finish his sentence, the alarms blared out. ¡°Shit, todays your lucky day brat.¡± he growled before running off with his buddies. ¡°Rica! Come back!¡± Charlotte¡¯s voice echoed through the field. I quickly ran back to her. The people that was around her was now gone. Before I could say anything, numerous numbers of WW2 era fighter planes flew overhead. ¡°What¡¯s happening?¡± I asked uncertainly. ¡°The Daemons are approaching and they are headed straight here.¡± Charlotte said with a burgeoning excitement, her hands tightening around mine as she pulled me towards a a set of stairs that went underground. ¡°Go and hide at the underground bunker.¡± ¡°What about you?¡± I asked, already knowing the answer that she will give. ¡°I will be meeting them head on.¡± she said with a ferocious grin before running off with an incredible speed towards the direction that the planes went. Of course I did not go into the underground bunker. I looked around for the highest point in the campus. It seemed to be a clock tower that stretched up high into the sky, overshadowing everything. Making my way to the clock tower, I opened the door to the tower and surprisingly, found it unlocked and what was behind the door made me grumble. Seems like elevators are not invented yet as long spiraling stairs could be seen all the way to the top. As I was halfway through climbing the stairs to the top, I could hear faint explosions in the background while there was occasional weak tremors. My entire body was screaming in pain as this body was unfit and seemed to have never exercised or something. Enduring the pain, I continued onwards to the top. After what seemed to be a lifetime, I finally reached the top. Now, only a ladder remained to the top with a hatch. Catching my breath for a bit and after drinking a small bottle of ion supply drink, I climbed up the ladder and out of the hatch. Finally, I had reached the roof of the clock tower. The top of the tower was flat luckily and not rounded. As I viewed around, I was pretty shocked. I expected other buildings or even forests around the campus as I haven¡¯t gone out yet but it was a barren wasteland all around. To the south was where the battle was currently being held. I took out a binoculars and looked at the battle through it. Calculating the distance, the frontline was around 2 kilometers away only from here! How did they sneak up so much in this barren wasteland? I got to see what a Daemon looked like finally. The ones at the front looked like hunchbacked humanoid creatures with long claws. They were rushing towards a line of infantry with a mix of guns such as the Lee-Enfield and even machine guns like MG34. They were firing away at the creatures, tearing them apart but anyone with a brain could see that they were just cannon fodders. Those that were wearing armors seemed to be staying back and only those without were rushing in to their deaths. The rest of the creatures at the back were wearing full body armor with horns protruding from various body parts. Even larger creatures were at the back. Maximising my zoom, at the far end, I could see several humongous worms that seemed to came out of the ground and Daemons were coming out of their mouths. Did those worm like creatures tunneled and avoided detection and carried troops? There were plenty of other huge creatures about the size of elephants and wait, is that a dragon?! We had tanks which looked like the Shermans and Tigers at the frontline, blasting away at any incoming enemies. But that was nothing compared to the skies. There were dense cloud walls but I could see something ginormous hiding in the clouds. The skies were filled with fighter planes and the Daemons seemed to be using fighter planes as well but I could see no propellor on them and it was covered with disgusting stuff on it with tentacles producing out of the plane shaped thing.
