《Forgotten Weapon of War》


 Prologue

    Year 2020, 10th July


    Today is the day, the US Navy is going to exhibit USS Iowa, a legend of its time, for the common public to see.


    After the wait of 2 hour at the New York Harbour She came. Despite her old age she looksastonishing. As a service engineer working on this ship even for 2 days is like a dream come true. And i got to live this dream.


    after getting on the ship with 100 other crew member and 50 US delegates. I got a proper sight of this monstrosity and this behemoth was around 270 m long and 30 meters above the water line. 12 gaint main 406 mm main cannon aiming toward the setting sun. Legend has it that this class of ship can even cut through 3 meter of ice with little to no effort.


    After an hr of wait we were ready to depart. Captian gave the signal to lift up the anchor and we started moving we were going to hold a speed of 30 Knots(55.56 Km/hr) for the next 4 hr. This ship was quite fast for its size even after so many upgades this ship can go up to max of 40 Knots(74.08 kph). This ship was powered by a nuclear powered engine which make itself sustain on sea for years without getting on land but because it going to be a museum antique now it is running on its secondary power source ie oil.


    After a fine journey of around 8 Hr. during the night my phone rang. Captain called me to give a look at the A deck(Lowest deck) Radar is not responding very well.


    Reaching their i saw this ship is in very bad shape its a miracle that''s its still standing. On the local line i responded, "Captain, Its seems like the radar is jammed because of the corroded joint. I need to apply lubricant and some parts need to be changed before we can move ahead."


    "Roger that whatever need to be done do it fast. Its seem like we are going to hit a storm very soon. Moving through this shit hole was a bad idea. I should have listened."     I could feel the chill behind my back because we were passing through one of the most unforgivingwatersof the world which has claimed a more than 100 ships and planes none other than the Bermuda Triangle.


    After 30 min the storm hit and started tossing the ship with the waves and alarm goes of which clearly indicate that the captain has order to abandon the ship.


    Captain and 2 other sailor came down to lower deck to get me. But i tell them if I leave this ship will collapse way before everyone can leave so I suggested them to leave me. It was a tough decision but I somehow manage to comfort them with my logic of staying behind as I was maintain the ship fuel pipe pressure and locked myself at the lower deck.


    Captain and the other 2 sailors saluted me and left with the other in the lifeboats.


    After 15 min something fall on my head and i passed out.


    This is how I died. This is not the story of a service Engineer who got to work at his dream place.


    This is a story of a guy who is called by many names Lord of the Seas/ Pirate King/ Kraken Slayer but one remain his favourite Captain Rogers.


    After waking up from my headache I look around get my thoughts together and came to realise that I am alive.


    There is no more shaking is there and seems like the storm calmed i can finally get of this ship and figure out a way to call for help. I went to the deck and saw a beautiful sight for the eye.


    The ship was sitting still in a very calm ocean (which was very odd) and calm salt breeze of wind. On reaching the bridge where I could see the captain hat hanging on the helm(ship steering wheel).


    When I went up close and picked up the hat and got a hold of helm a blue screen came in front of me which made me fall back.

    What the Fuck is this some kind of sickness or am i dreaming. I am still feeling headache so this is defiantly not a dream.


    After several attempt to interact the screen using my hand, a stick and after throwing some stuff through it. I gave up and starting to think new ways to try to access the blue panel. Then I just tried to say yes and the text on screen changed. And my headache started to increase and I fainted.

 New World

    It has been 15 min since I wake up from that headache. Initially thought maybe I have some internal head injury. But soon I dropped that thought.


    Currently I have many mixed feeling as I can feel each and every place on this ship as if they are my body extension. I could feel the salty breeze from the sea and water hitting the hull of the ship. I tried to move the ship but for some reason I couldn¡¯t.


    After several attempt the ship started to move and to navigate it when I reached the Helm.


    Another blue screen popup, but this time it was quite descriptive.

    This ship is losing Health every min.


    After moving for 30 min at a steady pace of 25 Knots. I could see a island around 30 km due east a big one that. While approaching toward the island I saw a massive Eagle almost the size of a car diving from a height of 400 meter directly toward the ship Beam.


    with some difficulties using one of the Large AA gun I was able to kill it. The eagle fall on the ship deck near the front main cannon.


    After approaching it I saw it up close it really was a giant eagle and it also got some Status.

    What is it doing at the ocean then . Whatever fuck this.... it doesn''t matter to me.


    After reaching the island I took the pistol from the captain''s cabin. No wait Correction my cabin. There is no response at the comms for 15 channels for almost an Hour now. I get to the Reconnaissance float plane and started the engine to take off . Seems like the luck is on my side everything looks good inside the plane. Using the sling shot the plane took off and now I could map the whole island from up here.


    This island is have a area of around 23000Km<sup>2</sup>(twice the size of hawaii) toward the north I could see a settlement and a harbor but after getting close it turned out to be deserted. Toward South there was a dense forest with a dormant volcano. Now i know from where did that Eagle came from. The ocean has taken over from the east and formed a lagoon with good depth to Dock Iowa. which seem like a perfect place to dock toward the abandoned harbour.


    Once I got back to the ship stated preparing for my decent to the uncharted land and look for supplies.

 First Contact

    "Hey Anthony did you saw that metallic ship coming toward this island", a man in rag shirt and called his Friend while holding a booze bottle in one hand.


    "Chutiye that''s a metal ships that are always full of exotics goods and instruments. But something is odd that ship is huge and working at that. This is the first time i have seen those thing moving. Call the captain now.", Anthony told with a surprise look while looking at the ship through the spy glass.


    Chutiye got up and start moving toward east of forest after running for few min he reached a cave hidden in the sallow woods. Toward the further east of the cave he could see the camp site where around 50-55 people doing different jobs, some were engaged with unloading material from boats to the cave, few were working near the fire for the dinner, some were engaged in some sort of argument. He saw the captain at arguing group.


    "How many times do i need to tell you Bilge-Sucker lot to not let Argentavis out of your sight. They are our price possession. The Anthum Society pay us a huge lot of gold to deliver these birds." , Captain told the 3 of the crew while fudging with his sword handle.


    "These birds are quite smart....Sir. That fucker faked his death and when we tried to see his condition he flew away", one of the worker said worriedly.


    "Captain we have company. A metallic floating ship is approaching toward us from the west." Chutiye spoke with some tension in his words.


    "Blow me down..!!, I haven''t seen those ships working condition in my whole life. We are rich boys those ships are walking Booty of gold.", Captain spoke with a excited look in his eyes.


    After 15 min captain reached the outpost and told the crew to prepare. Captain spoke, "What do we have here ?"


    "That ship is huge almost 2 times the size of Empire''s Man-o-War. Some sort of metallic creature took-off from it and currently surveying the island. They haven''t noticed us for now seems like they don''t have any magician with them". Anthony spoke.


    "That''s good, have our thief to infiltrate on that ship. Let move people I want to know who we are dealing with. If this goes well we all will be rich.", Captain told all the active crew present there.The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.


    Near to the caves a person with rag for clothing and dead eyes peeked up when he heard the sound a plane. It has been two year since he came to this world and nothing good happen till then.


    "Hey you stop dozing off and get back to work...", A buffed up pirate warned him with some anger.


    For the last 2 year was a living hell for Varun first his plane crashed and then being on the drift at the ocean for almost 2 month but the moment he meet up with the civilization he was thrown into slavery.


    - Meanwhile on the USS IOWA


    I went to the my cabin and took the ammo for the pistol and went to the deck to get the boat down the water surface. Just before getting on the boat I heard the ship alarm for emergency but who the hell initiated it. I am alone on this ship right.....!


    After reaching the bridge I saw some flickering on the sonar. It seems like something or someone is approaching us from the front. But i can''t see a thing.


    ''Now these systems are also going haywire.'' I felt something or someone getting on the ship. it feel like when a insect crawl up your leg. I hid behind one of locker inside the bridge and kept one of the bridge light on to have a good look at the intruder. There is one thing i am good at and that is waiting.


    near to the light a pair of 2 appear out of thin air and started looking around. After a min or two both of them left. I could try to take them out but that will be problematic as i don''t know what skills they have and can i even win against them


    In the lower deck 2 people were going through all sort goods and counting the loot. One of them took a rifle with him as a booty and other took the fire extinguisher. After several min a call from the deck peaked their interest and they went running.


    "Seems like this is a ghost ship. I found some strange belonging seems expensive. It feels like they left in a hurry." One of the thief concluded.


    "There are no traps or monsters are there seems like this is a ghost ship.", Skinny guy with perky eyes spoke.


    "Did you find anyone Samantha using your skill.", Old guy asked.


    "I did felt a presence when we get onboard but for some reason this creature or thing don''t have any mana because of which I am unable to pin point its location"


    "Hey ugly why don''t you try to hear its heart beat. Faster then you''re stupid skill", One thief commented.


    "Hey you keep quite work as a te....wait that a good idea", after few sec "I tracked its location follow me"


    Fuck they are coming back to bridge seems like they somehow located me, I ran toward the ship bow as fast as I can and at the same time tried moving the ship front main gun to point toward the North and starts the ship to have a sharp steep turn toward south. They cornered me when I reached at the bow near the anchor chain hilt.(ship was initially aiming toward east).


    "Stop right there we have you surrounded", I didn''t understand them perfectly but I could tell they were warning me to stop and surrender or die. or they are asking for direction maybe. I went with my guts and pull my hands up in surrendering motion. After the ship took a 90 degree turn it stopped.

 First Conflict

    ¡°"So What do we got?" Captain asked with a surprised look just how easily they have captured that ship.


    "It seems like that vassal is only carrying one passenger and seems like he know how to control that ship." First man answered.


    "only one man is capable of controlling that ship.. That''s odd. Ok how''s the interrogation is going on."


    "He is not able to understand our tongue our mages are preparing a speech Translation magic."


    "Before we can proceed bring him to me and firstly have take our Analyst to have a look at the status of that ship.", Captain dismissed him and give a look to his sword. ''Seems like you are not alone.''


    - At the Pirates camp


    A guy came near me and asked in English, "Hey are you from America" I nodded, "Good I can help you and we can leave from here together. Just tell me how many of us are here.".


    that guy was in pretty bad shape with very pale skin and looked quite weak. But I can''t trust him just like that if it is trap It may be hard to get out of here. I bluffed, "There are 100 of us out there will be attacking them any minute now, Just free me and we can hide from the assault." In the meantime he loosen up my ropes. I should trust him for now as he looked more relieved then troubled from my statement.


    "But how did they hid their position from the mages? ...". before he could continue a person came in tried to made me drink some blue coloured liquid.


    At the camp they asked me to drink a portion. Firstly i hesitated but i give in after some time as my newly acquired nodded me to do so.


    After drinking that bitter drink a blue screen pop up.

I ordered the ship to fire one HE straight from one of the Secondary Gun toward the captain and get the floating plane to take off to pick up my new friend i also kept the Main Gun on standby because i had bad feeling for that sword of his.


    The secondary round missed him by 5 meter but the blast should have killed him. During the whole commotion i make a run for it in the nearest cave.


    "What happened..... who attacked us.", Captain asked he was burned from the back with a pissed look, but his 20 of the crew member wasn''t so fortunate.


    "Captain seems like we have been attacked from a explosive volley from that ship. At the same time that flying creature took off."


    The Analyst returned with a worried look and told, "Captain are you alright..! I have some amazing and disturbing news for that ship."


    "I am fine shoot already.", Captain spoke angrily.

    Finally getting serious he hold his sword toward the ship and told all the pirates to hijack the ship from the behind he will deal with the ship firepower.


    After 15 min.


    Rogers move toward the harbor of the abandoned city in search of a boat to get to the IOWA in the meantime iowa started to move toward him near the swallow water.


    Thanks to the continuous feed from the floater plane he has a good idea of his surrounding and guessed the plan of the pirated to a some extend.


    Out of nowhere 2 ships appear behind the Iowa and one massive ship from the front.

    Two secondary round was fired from the IOWA and hit one of the Longship to catch fire on impact as a blast ingulf the whole ship. The second round missed by 5 meter.


    BANG¡­!!


    A huge shot of ice from the front cannon of the galion was fired.


    The front of the ship including the water was frozen. It did some damage but i could see they were trying to stop to ship to board on it. But it could only hold IOWA for a couple of second and then with a cracking sound it was free again and i ordered it to ram the gallion but to my surprise pirates have the same intention.


    At the collision for some reason the IOWA bow got deflected and i got a notification.

    When the two ship come sidewise i moved the main cannon toward the gallion it.


    Pirate POV -


    The moment we were getting ready to board the ship and do some heavy damage using the side cannon a huge pipe from the metallic ship came toward my face. I realised that huge pipe is cannon after a few sec and fell of the fear from the size of it.


    BOOOM......


    Kunkka POV(Pirates Captain)


    The whole ship was on fire. I can¡¯t believe what just happened in front my eye. The ship crumbles below my feets. I was bleeding from my shoulder seems like some wooden plank pierced me.


    Ahhhhhhh¡­.!!! ,I pulled it out and jumped the ship and using the floating plank start to swim.


    I make it to the shore and saw my dear ¡°Black Fire¡±(name of the ship) in flames in front of my eyes. I swear to god i will make him suffer.


    Rogers POW


    I reached to the place where the captain has washed of too.


    ¡°You are dead mate i burn your family and everyone you love Just like you killed my love.¡±, Captain spoke with anger and pain in his eyes.


    Pirate came running toward me and aimed his sword ready to swing at my head.


    Before He could reach me i fired the pistol and he fell on the ground as the bullet hits his chest.

 New Home

    After killing the Pirate¡¯s Captain i took his sword and went to their camp. Varun was waiting there for me. With a group of armed man ready to take over the base. After collecting all the surviving Pirates.


    ¡°Listen everyone....We all are castout, slaves, and pirates people think we don¡¯t deserve to live among civilized men we will prove them wrong. We will change this island into our paradise and home to be proud off¡­..¡± I stood there with confidence in my eyes and a glow of determination which everyone could see and start cheering for whatever plan i had.


    Not All accepted my proposal ¡°Are you all that Naive to follow a demon devoid of mana to hell. Don¡¯t you all know what these guys are they are just slave or test subject.¡±, Guy name Anthony came in front followed by Chutiya and few other.


    ¡°Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. You knew that if failed you wouldn¡¯t regret that, but I knew one thing you might regret is not trying. I am not forcing you or anything join me or leave this island it¡¯s your choice¡±. I spoke one of the best phase which i learned in my life and made it my moto.


    No one spoke for a while but after few sec Anthony came toward me and ask with lost of words, ¡°Can you assure the safety of my crew and we will abandon you the instant we feel like you are guiding us toward Hell.¡± and left.


    Later Chutiya went toward Anthony and asked why accepted his offer¡±He said the same thing that my mother used to tell me before i ran away and joined the Pirates. See where i am now¡±. They continued to move in crowd and started to listen to what John has to say.


    ¡°Ok Everyone. good sailor move to right and worker to the left.¡±,


    50 guys are moved toward the left and 20 to the right.


    ¡°We need to repair the Harbor first and give the emergency repair to the IOWA if possible or build a proper ship to have a mean to commute to other Island.
