《Beta World》 Chapter 0 - Prologue The development seems so entirely out of context that I can only apologize, but apparently I was in the middle of a battlefield. And until this point I honestly I don''t knowwhy I got dragged into this third world war started after a hundred years of peace, but apparently some time in August 2105World War Three started, and The North German Confederation got dragged into it. Honestly, I didn''t care one bit. It would''ve been more convenient if they left me out of the conflict since I want to go enjoy my life rather than die in some bloody battlefield, but my country wouldn''t allow that, barging into my house anddemanding that I join the military, and that brings me to where I am now. They say bullet hell games are hard, but this bullet hell is nowhere like a game. You get hit, you die. There''s no respawning, no turning back-- "Arnold!" a deep voice suddenly called out my name. "What do you think you''re doing?! Grab your gun and start shooting! We don''t have all day!" "Yes sir!" The man with the deep voice right now was GeneralKarl Schmidt. He was the general assigned to lead the 120th division, the squad I was placed into. We were assigned to defend the city of Dresden, but who knows why this town was so important. I was just a soldier assigned to do whatever the general tells me to do. Our situation couldn''t get any worse though. I got my gun and started shooting the impenetrable enemy tank that was slowly moving towards our defense. Despite our efforts, the tank showed no signs of slowing down as it fired another shot. "Damn it! Our high-class bullets aren''t piercing the tanks! Is back-up near yet?!" General Schmidt asked one of our soldiers. "They''re almost here sir!" "Tell them to make it quick! We''re getting showered by bullets and shells here!" "Yes sir!" Boom! At that exact moment, a shell dropped into the center of our fortified defense. There were explosions everywhere as our tanks began to violently burn. Soldiers started to leave their positions and started to make a run to escape the burning city. Despite GeneralSchmidt''s screams to not retreat, many disobeyed and did the opposite. "Only cowards retreat!" he screamed. "Don''t you men have any pride?!" You can tell by his voice that he was desperate. He then shifted his glare at me. "Don''t you dare leave your post Arnold. If you do, I''ll shoot you." Dang. Now I can''t escape this hell. Why do I need to die for this country anyways? Why do I need to risk my life to protect-- A sharp pain ran through my head. I felt my body drop to the ground. Hahah, so this is how I die, I said while gently closing my eyes. And that is how I, Arnold Freimann, met my abrupt, unannouncedand cruel end-- or that''s what I thought.
"Welcome to the afterlife, Hans Freimann. Unfortunately, you have died, and thus your soul was sent here."This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. As I regained my consciousness, somebody spoke to me. "Huh?" Wait, what? Didn''t I just die? This sudden turn of events confused me. First I was in the middle of a killing zone, then now I was sitting in a chair in what seems to be an office room, mainly due to the papers scattered around the room. The filing cabinet was so full of paper it looked like it would explode anytime, and the tower of papers on the desk seemed to indicate that the one who worked here was extremely busy. But the one who announced that my life was over sat on the other side of the table, looking at a folder. She was around the age of a teenage girl, and despite her beauty thatcould be only described as beyond human, she was wearing glasses that made her look more like a smart girl. "You''re name is Arnold Freimann, correct?" "Y-Yes..." I could only respond in shock. "Okay good. I was starting to think that I got the wrong soul, but it looks like I got it right this time." "W-What?" Wrong soul? What does that mean? "Anyway," the girl said, "Forget about that. My name is Valkyria, and I''m the goddess that will guide you to wherever you want to go." Hang on, that doesn''t sound right. Wasn''t Valkyria that god in Norse mythology or something? Even though I barely know anything aboutthat kind of stuff, I had a feeling that somethingwas wrong here. Well, it''s just a feeling. "Since yousacrificed your life in war and died with honor, I shall reward you the gift of a new life." "I don''t think that''s what really happened." "Beats me. I was ordered to say that to every single soul summoned here." She sounded bored. Very bored. "Honestly," Valkyria followed up, "This job is really boring. Almost everyone who came here before you wanted to be born back on Earth again. I mean seriously, why go back to your own world you died in? Very boring." "I could tell." Looks like the soldiers, warriors or at least anyone who died in battle wished to go back to Earth. It might sound cool at first, but doing it over and over again gets old fast. "You have two choices you can pick from here on," she said, "Either I send your soul to heaven, and that''s where you will be forever, or being reborn as a baby on Earth. So, what will you choose?" "I have to choose now? Can''t I think this over?" "Nope, you can''t. You''re not the only soul to die in war, Arnold. There''s a line. I want to finish this up since it''s now my lunch break." She sounded more like a depressed office worker than a goddess. "But the options are so limited, don''t you have anything else to offer?" "Nope." "Nothing interesting?" "Nope." Dang. Even after death, life was still harsh to me. "Although," Valkyria said with a smirk, "If you want, you can do me a favor." "A favor?" Now we''re getting somewhere. "Yes, a favor. How would you like to live in my world?" "Your world?" "Yep." Valkyria said as she got a box underneath her table and placed it in front of me. "I call this world ''Valkyria''. Pretty cool name, won''t you say?" "No, not really." Looks like this goddess seriously lacked originality. Originality 100! "Here''s the deal. You get transported to my Beta World, and in exchange for that I''ll give you the rights to own it." "Own it?" "Yep. I''ll make you the god of this world." ...... ................ This has to be a dream. "Oh, it''s not a dream alright. If you manage to collect all 16 Luna Rocks, I''ll give you the power to rule this world." Valkyria said as she pushed the box towards me. "What are Luna Rocks?" I asked. "You''ll know when you get there." Open it, she said. And so I opened it. "Wait, is this a smartphone?" "Of course not. It''s just a device that lets you contact me anytime. You can even use your fingers to touch the screen to type a message or make a call." "......." That''s the literal definition of a smartphone. "Okay then," I said, getting the phone and putting it in the pocket of my pants. Apparently, I was still wearing the soldier''s uniform. "Where do we start?" "I''ll be transporting you to Valkyria now." Hearing her say those words felt weird since her namewas Valkyria too. "I wish you the best of luck Arnold Freimann. May you be successful in your next life." And with thatstatement from Valkyria. A bright light surrounded me...! Chapter 1 - Unknown town there. Chapter 2 - Clothes It took me a while for my mind to fully comprehend the situation I''m in now. Just in case you missed it, I''ll do my best to fully explain what tomfoolery occurred in the last chapter.Hopefully, I may clear up any confusion and inconsistencies that may exist. Okay. First of all, it seems that I am permanently stuck in this world, the world that the edgy sounding teenage goddess claimed she had created, but due to some unfortunate events, my one and only way of getting out of this new world is basically nonexistent all because of me falling for her "trap". I felt like I was baited to this world just to take care of her responsibility for overseeing(?) this world. No, maybe it was just because she wanted me to test out this world. I don''t know. This is all just pure speculation. Well, maybe baited wasn''t the right word, but unfortunately, my grammar wasn''t up to the task at the moment. Second is not only the medieval-looking world that I''m trapped in but the highlyproactive feminine body that is supposedly mine. "Even my hair is longer..." How in the world am I supposed to wash this? Do I need a hairdryer of some sort? It would definitely be very useful if they did have it here, but unfortunately, I highly doubt such a tool exists in this world. "Sigh. Well, no use in crying over spilled milk." I stood up from my sitting position that I''ve been holding for around half an hour. My back ached as I stood on both feet. Shoot, my hands are dirty. I rubbed them on my shirt to clean them, and there I realized that the garments I was wearing looked like a bunch of rags sewn together to form a dress. Actually, it even felt rude to even call this a dress due to how dirty it looks. "Clothes... I need clothes..." Exiting the long alleyway, I made my way through the streets, in search of clothing that made me the tiniest bit fashionable. Since I was a girl now I probably have to deal with these annoying things like looking good. Drat. What atroublesome life I''m going to be living now. Now that I see it under the seemingly bright sun, this town gives off vibes that you would normally see during the medievalages. Horse carriages are used to transport people and what seems to be farming stuff, while everyone here is dressed like villagers. It reminded me of a certain MMORPG game that I used to play in my old life. My old life. "Now that I think about it, at least I don''t have to suffer in that cruel planet anymore. For now, I can enjoy my new life here in this world." I said, looking around the busy streets. "Right. First off I need to find some sort of shop that sells clothes." I just realized that my current self doesn''t seem to have any sort of currency on my pockets, but we''ll set that aside for now. After walking around, there was only one shop that seemed to hint that it was a clothing store. It has windows, but the glass was so thick that you couldn''t see what''s inside. There was a sign outside with a shirt logo on it, so I assumed it was a clothes store. I opened the door to take a peek inside. "Hello... Is anyone here?" "........" No one responded. I stepped inside the small room. There were hangers full of clothes everywhere, from shirts to what seems like dresses that one would only see a royal family to wear. Strings were scattered all over the place, while scissors, needles, and pins were scattered all over the place. Since I was walking bare-footed, I tried to avoid therandom stitching tools that were loitering around the floor. A needle to the foot might be deadly. But at the center of the room was what seems to be a silver dress. The way the sunlight from the windows illuminates the dress is almost blinding. The skirt seems to be so fluffy that any sharp objectthat even touches it will create a huge cut. The stand it was on almost matched my height, only being short by a bit. It''s probably meant to be worn by princesses my height. "Hmm..." By the looks of it, it probably matches my breast size. What kind of material is this made from? This fabric doesn''t look like anything from earth. Heck, this might be even better than those Chinese silk - "Hello? Is someone there?" I lept to myfeet at the sudden voice behind me like I''d been drowsed by cold water. I looked at the direction of the female voice. There was a woman at the counter. She probably came from the curtain behind her since she was still holding it. "Oh my! A customer! I''m sorry I took so long." The lady looked at me before smiling. "Welcome to my shop. Do you need something?"If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. "Umm..." I was frozen due to the sudden kindness that was shown before me. I was used to being scolded every time I do something inappropriate like barging into a shop without a shopkeeper, so this sudden kindness froze me on the spot. "It''s okay," The lady said. "My name is Cecilia. I''m the owner of this clothes shop." "Umm..." It was rude to not give your name when a person tells you their name. "My name is Arn-" I stopped myself before I could say my old name, Arnold Freimann. "Hmm?" Cecilia tilted her head. "I''m sorry, I didn''t seem to catch that. What''s your name, young lady?" That''s right. I was a girl now. A manly name like Arnold Freimann would be a really weird name for a young girl like me. ........ The thought of abandoning my old name sent a tear down my eyes. Why did I have to get reincarnated as a girl? If I wasa boy things would''ve been a lot better! Damn that goddess, I''m going to get back to her someday - "Why are you crying?" Cecilia said as she approached me. Reaching from her pocket, she genuflected on the floor and wiped my tears with a napkin. "C-Colette..." I forced the letters out of my mouth. "My name is Colette..." Colette was the first name I could think of since Cecilia reminded me of that actress I saw on television with the same name back on earth. "Wow, what a cute name!" Cecilia exclaimed. "So, what brings you here to my shop, Colette?" "Umm... Uhh..." Once again, I was speechless. Damn, kindness does exist in this world... Cecilia looked at me before smiling, saying "Oh, I know! You''re looking for clothes, aren''t you?" I simply nodded. "I was just looking around. I don''t have any money," I replied. "That''s okay! Your big sister Cecilia will make you one, on the house!" she said. "This rag dress won''t do for such a cute girl, so I swear on myname, I will make you the cutest dress in existence!" "That''s okay, really... You don''t have to -" But before I could finish my sentence, Cecilia went through the curtain at the back of the counter, probably to get something. She came back with a measuring tape on her hand. "First, I''m going to measure your sizes, so please step in here." Cecilia opened a curtain in what seems to be a fitting room. "Sizes?" "Yes. I''ll be measuring yourbreast size, hip size, and waist size. It''s essential for creating any kind of dress." I stepped into the fitting room. As soon as Cecilia finished measuring she said, "All right. I''m done measuring your sizes. Are you going anywhere today, Colette?" "No, not really..." I was just some girl roaming around town, so I don''t have any plans for the rest of the day. "That''s fantastic! Why not join me today then?" "Umm... Sure..." Cecilia took my arm and led me to the room behind the curtains. There was a wooden stairwell leading to the second floor. As we went up, Cecilia asked: "Do you have a home, Colette?" "No... Not really...." I answered. "I don''t have any home to sleep in tonight." "I see. Why not live here for the meantime?" "H-Huh?" Wait, is she being serious? She''s inviting a total stranger into her house?" "It''s okay. You don''t have a roof to sleep under tonight, so that''s more than enough to invite you to my home." Cecilia looked at me and smiled. "You can stay here for as long as you like." "T-Thank you..." The only thing I could repay her was my gratitude. What a kind person. I was lucky that such a caring person exists in this world. I would''ve been toast by now without her kindness. We reached the second floor. It seemed to be Cecilia''s workspace since there were fabrics all over the room. There seemed to be more dressers compared to downstairs, and aside from the messier floor, there were five machines on a large table. It looked like sewing machines because of the cloth and thread on the machine. "You can go up to the third floor," Cecilia instructed me. "There are four rooms up there. Your room is in the first room in the hallway. If you need me, I''ll be here downstairs to start working on your dress." "Okay." I went up the stairs as Cecilia instructed me. The third floorhad one small hallway that seemed to extend until the end of the room, where a window was there to illuminate the hallway. I entered the first door on the left. The room was small, but it''s big enough to fit one bed. Behind the bed was a window, giving light to the room. A table desk sits beside the door, complete with pencils and books and such. A bookshelf sits across the room, full of books. Of course, it just looks like just any normal bookshelf. "Ahh." I lay down on the bed, which seems to be really bouncy. "What a bouncy bed. Is this Cecilia''s?" Hmm.Probably not. Even if she was kind, there''s no way she would offer her room to me. There were two pillows on the bed. I hugged one and used the other as support for my head. I gently closed my eyes. "......" ......... ...................... ............................ ................................. "I''m bored. Can''t sleep." I sat up on the bed. I lookedaround the room to see if there was anything that would entertain me at that time but to no avail. I turned to the current state of my body, which was sitting down on the bouncy bed. "......" I tried to scavenge the room to see if there was anything that would satisfy myself, but the closest thing I got was a hand mirror, lying down on the desk. I picked it up to examine my body. Long purple hair. Big purple eyes. Smooth skin. Small hands. Big breasts. Curved waistline. Long legs. White feet. "Got it. Got it. Yes, I agree. I definitely look like a girl." I nodded to the narrationof my face provided by my brain. "Hmm... If I''m now a girl, then that means..." If that''s the case, then my FrankfurterW¨¹rstchen must be gone.I reached down tothere, checking if it really disappeared. Nothing. "........" I felt my face heating up as dirty thoughtsstarted to flood my mind. A man trapped in a teenage girl''s body is all alone in a small room. This might be my chance of a lifetime. There was no way I would pass on this opportunity. Once again I forced my hand to touch- "Colette! Dinner''s ready!" "Eeeeek!" Cecilia opened the door and shouted mercilessly. I jumped off my bed and landed on the floor in surprise. "What are you doing?!" "I''m just calling you for dinner," Cecilia replied. "Is something wrong with it?" "You don''t have to barge in my room and shout!" Actually, maybe screamed was the better word. "You might not hear it, so I shouted." "But you even entered my room! Couldn''t you at least knock?" "Knocking the door just isn''t my thing, you know," Cecilia rebutted. "Anyways, dinner''s ready. I better see you downstairs or else I''ll eat it all!" With that weird statement, Cecilia disappeared from my sight and went down the stairs. She left the door open. "........" I recalled watching multiple shows where the protagonist is left in the room, then after a while, some noisy idiot barges in,while the main character couldn''t do anything but to react in surprise. I hate these cliche moments. Chapter 3 - Cecilia After the shocking event that occurred, I headed downstairs. I don''t seem to recall seeing any room in this house that resembles a dining room, so I was quite curious where it was. I found Cecilia removing the sewing machines from the large table. "Here, Colette! Have a seat!" she said, as she offered me a chair. "I''m so sorry you had to see this horrible mess of a table, Colette. I don''t have enough money yet to renovate my home, so please bear with me." I simply nodded. Cecilia placed two plates on the table, one for me and one on the opposite side. She then placed a basket between the plates. This is probably the main dish. She put out what seems to be two pieces of bread and placed it on my plate. "Umm..." "Hmm? What is it, Colette?" "Are we only going to eat bread?" Cecilia chucked for a bit before answering my question. "Of course not. You want to eat something that goes well with bread right? Here, I also have here some frankfurters." She used a wooden fork to get a wiener-looking hotdog and placed it on my plate. "........" "Hmm? Is something wrong, Colette? You''re face is getting all red." "N-No, it''s nothing. I just had a feeling of Deja vu." And an unpleasant one, at that. "Deja vu? What''s that?" "It''s best if you don''t know." "Ahh, I see. Well, that''s fine for me," Cecilia said before sitting on the chair at the left of me. I took a bite of the bread and a small bite of the hotdog. This tastes surprisingly good. "Cecilia - Er, I mean..." Hang on. I shouldn''t be calling her Cecilia. Even if she was young, it wasn''t the proper way to address someone older than you. "Hehe." She gave me a light laugh before saying, "It''s okay. You can just call me whatever you like." "O-Okay... Big sis..." Oops! Wait, did I seriously just blundered and called her big sis?! Oh no, I was too direct! The thought of me having a big sister like Cecilia made me happy a bit, but I accidentally uttered the words "big sis" out loud! "Hmm." Cecilia stared at me. "Big sis. Huh. I see." I could feel myself sweating bullets right now. I was practically shaking in humiliation. "No... It''s not that... I''m sorry..." "Aww, don''t cry, Colette." She proceeded to wipe off the tear that fell from my eye before giving me a big hug. "Don''t worry, I''ll take care of you, so you can call me big sis." "T-Thank you..." Was all I could say. Geez, there was literally nothing I could do rather than thank her for her kindness. "So, do you enjoy the food, Colette?" Cecilia asked me. "Mmm," I responded with a nod. "This tastes good. Where did you cook this?" "Unfortunately, I don''t have any cooking skills at the moment." She took a bite of the bread. "I just bought this in the nearest restaurant here. But, if you want, I am willing to raise my skills to make you delicious food like this, Colette." I probably have to make some time for cooking though, Cecilia added. "Hmm?" Now that wording piqued my interest. "Raise your stats?" "Yep. You don''t know?" I shook my head in response. "It''s a system in this world that lets you raise your level in a specific skill. Specifically, it''s called leveling up." "Huh. So it''s like a video game." "A video game? What''s that?"Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation. "Err, you don''t need to know..." "Hmm, okay. Anyways, the more experience you gain the higher your level is going to be. Here, look." Cecilia stuck out her finger. At first, I thought she was pointing at the wall, but she made a gesture in the air that looked like she was drawing the letters I and D. A dialogue window popped out.
Name: Cecilia Frei Age: 24 Years 6 Months old Gender: Female Race: Human Occupation: Dressmaker (Lvl. 94) Life: 100%
"This is what we call an ID Window. Here you can see information about certain stuff in this world, like its name, age, gender, race, occupation, and life. Of course, I''m just a normal citizen, but when you get other occupations like being an Adventurer, a Student, or a Blacksmith, your ID Window will change accordingly." "I see..." Wow. It''s literally like an MMORPG game. "How about you try it, Colette?" "Okay..." I imitated the movement of Cecilia''s finger and drew the letters I and D in the air.
Name: Colette Age: 15 years old Gender: Female Race: Human Occupation: Unknown Life: 100%
"See? This is your own ID Window." "Wow..." I couldn''t hide myexcitement. This truly is a world modeled after games, and now I''m experiencing first-hand, in the flesh. Sucks to be all those people who only see these things behind plastic screens. This is definitely better than video games. Cecilia pointed at my name, "Hmm, it looks like you don''t have a last name yet, Collette." "Do I need to have one?" "Yes! The king regularly checks the list of people setting foot on his country. Having a last name can confuse the king for other people, so it is now indicated in the law that all people must have last names." "I see... But I don''t have a last name?" "You don''t? Don''t you have any parents?" "Uhh... No... I don''t remember..." It was obviously a lie. I couldn''t possibly tell her that I came from another world and got reincarnated as a girl. "I see. Well, why not use my last name then?" "Colette Frei?" It doesn''t sound like a bad name, but at the same time, it doesn''t sound like a good one either. "Sure, that sounds nice." "Great! Your ID Window must''ve updated by now." "Huh? Really?" I checked my ID Window and, sure enough, my name was now "Colette Frei". "Wow, that was fast." "It updatesthe moment you decide on that name, Colette," Cecilia explained. "Wow, it''s like we''re a family now! Since you call me big sis, can I call you lil'' Colette?" "But it makes my name longer." "Nah, it''s ok. It''s just a nickname." "But that''s as long as my full name now." It may not be a mouthful, but "Colette Frei" have the same syllables as "Lil'' Colette." "Hmm. What do you suggest then?" "I don''t know, maybe make it shorter or something?" "Hmm... The only nickname I could think of is Cole, but that''s a boy''s name..." Cecilia stopped eating and stared at the ceiling, probably to think. I was interested in what kind of nickname she comes up, so I sat there eating, waiting for an answer. Her head popped up a few seconds later. "I''ve thought of something." "Wow, that was fast. Hit me with it." "Cofi." "How in the world did you even get that nickname?!" "You don''t like it?" "I''m pretty sure there are better ones..." "Ok. So we get a little bit of ''Colette'' and a little bit of ''Frei'' to get..." "To get?" "Colei." "That doesn''t sound like a bad name, but it makes me sound like some sort of germ..." "Hmm, I can''t think of any more. I guess I''ll just stick to calling you Colettethen." "Yes. Please do." By the time we ended the conversation, the food on our plates was gone. We must''ve been eating it while we were engaging in that stupid banter. I gave my plate to Cecilia and excused myself, before going upstairs to my room. "Oh by the way," Cecilia said before I even set foot on the stairs. "I know this might bea sensitive question, but if I may ask, where are you from?" "Huh?" "Well, no human wasborn from nothing, so you must''ve at least have a home country, right?" "........" I was frozen at the spot due to Cecilia''s sudden question.I felt a chill running down my spine. How did she know? Was it so obvious? Wait, no! There''s no way she would''ve figured out by our conversation. This might possibly be a bluff, so I decided to act ignorant for now. "No, sadly. I don''t remember where I came from, who my parents are or what country I was born in." "Is that so?" Cecilia tilted her head. Damn, big sis is giving off some serious vibes here now. She might possibly be more observant than that goddess, Valkyrie. Wait, no. Perspective might be the better word to describe her. Cecilia approached me and patted me on the head. "It''s okay, Colette. You can tell me anything. I promise not to tell a single word." I''m your big sister after all,she added. "......" I couldn''t say anything. What else could I say? Should I just straight up tell her the whole truth? Or maybe there might be some way to avoid this conversation altogether? The latter is probably impossible by now, but telling people about my identity in this world is dangerous. It''s like that feeling where you think about telling one of your best friends your deepest secrets, but also being wary of them, because any time they might spill the beans and it causes a huge commotion. The thought of it happening is frightening. "Ahh, I see. Looks like you can''t tell me yet," Cecilia said before pulling me into a hug. Due to our height difference, she was embracing me on her stomach, which means that her breasts were resting on top of my head. "Don''t worry. If there''s anything troubling you, I''ll be here. You can trust me." "Okay..." I could only nod to her in response. Cecilia continued to stroke my head that night. I felt my face growing hot once again, which means that my face was probably turning red. While a portion of me felt extremely lucky to meet someone with such warm kindness as her, the other large portion is due to the two huge lumps resting on top of my head. I couldn''t focus on anything ever since she pulled me into her warm hug. It looks like I have discovered a new rival. Chapter 4 - Sheins Cafe The next day. "Colette. Come on Colette. Wake up." Someone was shaking me back and forth. I partially opened my eyes before dozing off again. "Just five more minutes," I answered. "Come on, we don''t have all day," The voice said, which I assume was Cecilia. "Oh, wait! I know! I have a surprise waiting for you!" "A surprise?" "Yes, a surprise! But you can only get it if you wake up." "I''m awake!" I shouted as I jumped off my bed. I''ve never been more energetic in my (new) life. "Hahaha," Cecilia laughed at my quick slumber. " Come. The surprise is downstairs." "Okay." Cecilia took my hand and led me downstairs. As we were walking down the stairs, I tried to remember the events that transpired last night. After dinner, I went straight up to my room to sleep. The problem was that even though I ate what seems to be a buffet for my stomach, I was not feeling any sort of drowsiness whatsoever. Of course, since I was busy the whole day, my body no doubt started to produce odor, so I decided to take a quick shower. The bathroom was on the third floor, the third room to the left of the hallway. It wasn''t that big, but it was big enough to fit a big barrel full of water. It kind of looks like a wooden bathtub. There were shelves on the wall with what seems to be hair conditioners. I picked one from the shelf and opened the bottle. It had a really sweet aroma. "So this is girl''s shampoo..." It totally smelled different from the shampoo I used to have as a man. "........" Well, ok. To make the long story short, I took a quick bath in the bathtub and headed to my room to change. Luckily there was a towel in what I assume is a towel rack since it was hanging a towel around it. I went out of the bathroom to see Cecilia standing outside of the door. "Was your first shower good?" she asked. "Yup," I nodded. "It was refreshing." "I''m glad you liked it," Cecilia said, leading me to my room. "I''ve prepared a clean set of pajamas for you in the bed." "Thanks..." I''ll just continue work downstairs, so just call me if you need anything, Cecilia said before descending down the stairs. I entered my room to see a pair of pajamas neatly folded on top of the bed. There was even a pair of white underwear on top of it. "Honestly, is there any end to this kindness?" I wondered, taking off my towel and putting on the bra and panties before wearing the pajamas. It had a cute shield pattern on it, which I really liked. I wandered around the room, trying to look for any interesting things that are waiting to be discovered in this room. I immediately thought of checking under the bed, since boys usually hide their porn mags under there. I wonder if it''s the same for girls. "Actually, I wonder if porn mags even exist in this world." There were no erotic magazines under the bed, unfortunately, but there was this box-like thing that was at the far side of the bed. I reached for it, only to find out that the space under the bed was not a clean surface. "Damn it, now my arm is dirty again," I complained as I pulled the box out of the bed and placed it on the table. The box was by no means clean, but I don''t have time to dust off the dust on it. I slowly opened the box to find what seems to be a book that reads "Atlas of the Known World". This is probably a detailed map of this continent, hence the "Known World" in its title. I opened the book to check the contents. I probably spent the whole night browsing the book, and it was in the middle of the night when my body finally started to show some signs of drowsiness. I blew off the candle and went straight to bed after that. The book was surprisingly detailed, down to the beaches and the forests. And yes, sure, the book is really useful in navigating this world, but the problem is that I don''t know what damn country I am currently residing in. Cecilia didn''t even say or give any hints of it last night, so I decided to ask her in the morning. Back to the present. We were going down the stairs. I tried asking her, but we reached the second floor before I could say anything. There was a dress sitting on top of the table. Cecilia walked over to the table to get the dress, then held it so that the whole front of the dress was fully exposed. "Ta-dah!" Cecilia exclaimed. "It''s your new dress, Colette!" The dress was just like the one I saw yesterday, however, this one has a more civilian vibe rather than a royal vibe. The top of the dress is colored crimson, which in my opinion goes really well with the light, red skirt on the bottom. There was a white ribbon near the chest area as well, blending perfectly within the crimson background. The only way to describe this elegant piece of fabric was: "Wow..." Wow indeed. Are you serious? cecilia made a dress this pretty in just one night? I guess this is what you would normally expect from a level 94 dressmaker. "I like it" I replied. "Thank you so much, Cecilia." "It''s fine," Cecilia responded. "Now why don''t you go and put on this dress? I can''t wait to see what it looks like on you." Cecilia handed me the dress. I was still in my pajamas that time, so I took them off and proceeded to put on the dress. It was a perfect size for me. Even my breasts fit without hesitation. I turned to Cecilia to show it to her.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. "Does it look good on me?" "Of course!" Cecilia exclaimed. She seemed so happy with how the dress looks on me. "You''re so cute! No, actually, you might be too cute! I''m going to cry!" Cecilia hugged me tight to show her happiness. She was hugging me so tight that I was starting to get choked. "Tight. Too tight." "Oops." Cecilia backed off. "I''m terribly sorry Colette." "It''s okay," I said. "So, what are we going to do with this dress now?" "Isn''t it obvious?!" Cecilia said. Sadly, I don''t have a single idea what Cecilia had in mind with me wearing this dress. Sure, my ragged clothing is definitely a real turnoff, but judging her reaction I feel like she had something else in mind. "We''re going to show this off to the town, Colette!" "H-Huh?!" Once again, my face turned tomato red. "W-Why show it off to the whole town?!" "Hmm, maybe I didn''t word it right." Cecilia paused to reconstruct her statement. "I''m going to show you around town, and I want you to make you look the best." "You definitely didn''t word that right." "Well, why don''t we get going then?" Cecilia said as she grabbed my hand. "The sun is rising, so we better leave early." "Oh, okay." We spent the next two hours wandering around the town.Cecilia explained to me that this town is named Nolias, situated on the Norleid Region, which is north left of the country Alamania. I knew what the map of Alemania looks like since I''d looked into that atlas last night. "Nolias isn''t really a great tourist spot in Alemania, so we don''t get visitors that much. Everyone here basically knows each other by name," Cecilia explained. "I see..." "Our town might be a small town, but we basically got everything we need here. Restaurants, a library, a market, and even our own dungeon. You name it, we have it." "Hmm? A dungeon?" Now this piqued my interest. "That''s right. A dungeon." She said, facing me. "That smirk on your face tells me you want to check it out." "........" Her statement left me speechless again. Perspective as always, Cecilia. "Hehe, okay. Here, I''ll show you the way." It took us around ten minutes to reach our destination. The dungeon was a little bit far from Nolias, but we managed to get here as soon as the sun rose. "Here we are, Colette," Cecilia said. "Uhh, is this really it big sis?" "Hmm? Yes. Is something the matter?" "........" When I first heard her say "dungeon", the first thing that popped into my mind is those cave-like structures guarded by a gateand is usually filled with monsters every step you take down the stairs, but this dungeon that I was facing now looks like a really big hole in the ground. It looked like some giant worm dug a hole and formed it. "Well, this isn''t what I''ve expected," I said. I noticed the sign near the hole, so I walked over to the sign to see what it says.
Dungeonof Nolias Depth: 10 floors
So even this dungeon is named after Nolias... But whatdoes this depth of ten floors mean? "Depth is the number of floors a dungeon has from top to bottom, or so I''ve heard," explained Cecilia. "I personally haven''t experienced going down there at all, so all of this information is second hand." So this means that this dungeon is ten floors deep. I see. It makes sense. "So, how do you go down there?" I asked. "Are you planning on going down there, Colette?" Cecilia asked. "I''m afraid it''s too dangerous for you. This dungeon is ten floors deep, and if you get lost in there it would be catastrophic." "I see..." But this couldn''t be more dangerous than a bullet hell battlefield, right? "It seems that the sun is starting to rise," Cecilia said, looking at the direction of the rising sun. She was covering her eyes with her hand. "Why don''t we go and have breakfast?" "Okay." We left the dungeon site and headed straight back to Nolias. As we walked, my mind couldn''t stop thinking about the dungeon. What kind of monsters are in that dungeon? What do these floors look like? How do you kill these monsters? Do I level up when I kill more of them? And most importantly, how in the world am I going to get down there? It doesn''t seem like jumping down there is a good option, so maybe I could use a rope and climb down there? As Cecilia said a while ago, this town basically has everything you need, so there probably is a store here around here that sells ropes. "Here we are." We stopped in front of a building. It was only around two floors in height, but the tables outside give off a cafe-like vibe to it. And, sure enough, there was a sign at the entrance that reads "Schein''s Cafe". "Schein''s Cafe?" "Yep. This is Schein''s Cafe, the one and only cafe here in Nolias. The food here is great, but what makes them extraordinary is their breakfast meals. I''m pretty sure you''ll like it here, Colette." Here, come inside,Cecilia said as she opened the door for me. As soon as I stepped inside, the aroma of brewing coffee enters my nose. The cafe wasn''t big or small, it was just right. There were people sitting down, eating and chatting. There were alsowaitressesto be seen everywhere, serving customers, wiping tables and going in and out of the kitchen door, with coffees and pancakes in their hand. We sat at a table near the shop window. A waitress walked over a table with a warm grin on her face. "Welcome to Schein''s cafe," The waitress said with her warm smile. "My name is Lumia Schein. May I take your order?" "Hi Lumia, how''s it going?" Cecilia asked. "I''m doing fine," Lumia responded. "How are you, Miss Cecilia?" "I''m doing fine as well," she said before facing me. "Lumia, this is Colette Frei. I found her snooping around in my shop yesterday, so I decided to adopt her in the meantime." Adopt? Well, if you think about it that way, you could say that Cecilia adopted me. Heck, I even call her big sis now. Lumia shifted her smile to me. "Nice to meet you, Colette. My name is Lumia Schein. I''m a friend of Cecilia." "N-Nice to meet you..." I replied, bashfully. "So, what can I get for you guys today?" Lumia asked. "I''ll have pancakes. Is there anything you want, Colette?" "Uhh, I think I''ll be having the pancakes as well." "Alright. Two pancakes please." "Understood," Lumia said as she took down notes in a notebook. "Is there anything else you want to add?" "I-I''ll have some coffee, if I may..." I uttered. I couldn''t even talk properly. What a simpleton I became. "Okay, one coffee it is. Your order will be ready in a bit." Lumia said before she headed to the counter. "So Colette, are you enjoying?" Cecilia asked. "Yes," I replied. "This town is very nice." "I''m glad you liked it here," Cecilia said. "Oh, by the way. Have you thought about working?" "Huh? Working?" "Well, I am usually busy with my dressmaking. The king is demanding more clothes to be made, so I probably won''t have that much time for you. So while I''m busy, how about you work for a bit?" "Hmm, I guess that''s alright..." Me living in Cecilia''s house is only temporary. Iwill move out ofher place eventually, so I guess I need to earn some money to live by myself before that. "I don''t know if any shops here would accept me though..." "Well, why not work here in Shein''s Cafe?" "Huh? Why here?" "This is probably the only shop in town that will accept girls as employees. And plus," Cecilia said, reaching out her hand to touch my cheek. "You look pretty cute after all." "C-Cute?" Uh oh. My pulse is rising again. "I''m sure they would love to have you work here." "Here''s your order," Lumiainterrupted as she placed the two pancakes and my coffee on the table. Cecilia drew back her extended hand. "Thank you, Lumia," Cecilia replied. "Umm... Do you have any sugar for this coffee?" "Ahh, yes. I''ll be right back." Lumia went to the counter to get something from underneath. It was a jar full of what seems to be sugar in it. She then walked to our table and placed it on top. "Do you want me to put some sugar in your coffee?" "Oh, no. It''s fine. I''ll do it myself." Since this coffee doesn''t seem to be black, I only put around two scoops. The pancakes were pretty good too. Is it even possible to make pancakes this good without syrup? Well, there was a bottle of syrup on the table, so I tried to put it on my pancakes. It tasted three times better. "I''m glad you liked our food," Lumia said to me. "By the way," Cecilia interrupted, "Colette said that she wanted to work here. How about it, Lumia?" "Don''t put words in my mouth! I never said I wanted to work here!" "Well," Lumia said, pausing to think. "We are short on staff lately, and our manager can''t seem to find any more people to hire..." "See Colette? Why not work here for now?" Cecilia said. "Don''t worry. You can keep the money for yourself." "That''s not what I''m worried about!" "Do you want to join us, Colette?" Lumia asked. There was remorse in her eyes. "Fine..." I finally gave up. The pressure coming from the two girls is just too much for my soul to handle. "Yay! I''ll go talk to the manager real quick," Lumia said as she skipped happily to the counter. "Sigh. What have I gotten myself into..." I said, taking another bite at the three stacked pancakes. Well, at least I get to enjoy these pancakes for now.
