 Chapter 1- The Beginning

    Within the expanse of nothingness that engulfs everywhere, lies something new. An intangible entity grew across the nothingness. It began to resonate with the nothingness and gained understanding into itself. Thus the consciousness was created.


    Boom!


    Just like that, the consciousness made the action of realization and created the first sound of the expanse. This made the being who had never experienced anything obtain its first emotion of curiosity, and tried to interact with the sound. Once the being contacted the sound, the nothingness moved.


    With the movement of the nothingness space was created and changed the fabric of the expanse forever. It gave meaning to existence.


    The fluctuations of movement continued in the nothingness, and space continued to grow. As it grew a new concept came into fruition, the concept of time.     Soon the nothingness got smaller and smaller until space existed more than nothingness itself. The conscience experiencing its first emotion of fear tried to connect with space and move it away but it was not meant to be. Over time even though the procession of space did not cease, energy was created, lightning.


    Soon from the ravages of the lightning came light and darkness. The bright flashes of radiance parallel the endless abyss. It made the concept of balance. That the fundamentals of the expanse must not be changed or balance will not be maintained. The light and darkness created fire, that spawned from intense light, water from the frigid dark, air as a buffer between the conflict, and earth for stability between sides.


    From the calming sides emerged the consciousness, which came to wander in the expanse. Moving from side to side and explore what had just been shaped.

 Chapter 2-Who am I?

    The consciousness wandered through the countless spaces of fire and water, through the air, and on the earth. It grew into more and more wonder and curiosity of its creations. It watched the fires grow into a multitude of colors, red, yellow, orange, and white. The water crystal clear form sculptures of dark blue ice. To the air twirling into cyclones of wind, changing to a different current. And the earth created metals and minerals out of itself.


    To be able to explain and understand what was happening around it the consciousness created the first tool of understanding and communication, a language. He called this language antiquor. It used antiquor to describe to itself what was happening around it. This was so it could better remember it all.


    As time passed something new began to take shape. A form of lightning. It was a mass of pure lightning that condensed together. This also happened a little later in all the other elements. A form of water. A form of air. A form of fire. And, a form of earth.


    The consciousness decided to call these creatures elementals. For they came from the elements and are made purely of them. They had no intelligence but were beings who were driven by the instincts of their element. Like an air elemental would constantly move around and be unpredictable.


    Each different type stayed the same no matter the time. And even though more were created it did not change their habits.


    It witnessed new creations, over and over again. Sometimes in new and different ways; in others, it was the same. The Consciousness never tired of it and never faltered in its amazement. This continued for days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, millennia, Megayears, eons until it thought to itself, what could I be?

    What could I be? I¡¯ve never thought this before but I should know it, shouldn¡¯t I. I was the first something out of nothing, I started the expanse on a new path. I was the first, no I am the first. My name should represent that, it should show how far I have come.

    With that done I feel a new emotion happiness. For I have found who I am.


    To celebrate my accomplishment I wander out to watch some fire elementals. They always come together making bigger and hotter flames. While watching I have a moment of sadness. Of course it takes me a second to realize why but it feels worse once I come to the realization. I have nothing to share this with. With my own realization on myself I have come to a new longing of companionship. I no longer wish to be alone.


    As to how I could do that I have no idea. In a sad realization of this I go back to watching the fire elementals. Thats it! They come together in groups but don''t combine. So what if I combine two together? I go to two I spot on the outskirts of the group and move them to the side. I then push them together.


    This of course didn¡¯t work. So instead I make their heat and size of fire equal and gently push them together. Yes, they combined! they swirled together into a slightly larger fire elemental. Though right after it went right into the center of the group to get better fire. So it might be more intelligent?


    One thing I didn¡¯t notice though, was that the fire element domain, meaning the area of fires influence, expanded over the other three elements. This should not be. So to not upset the balance I combined air elementals of the same current and place. Water elementals of the same fluidity and temperature. And earth elementals of the same composition and structure. After that, they all went back to being balanced.


    Though the lightning element domain was not affected. Is it because it was before the other elements?At the moment it does not matter because my plan didn¡¯t work. What else could I possibly try? I could try combining the other elements.

 Chapter 3-The Elemental Processes

    When the elementals combined, it made the created elemental better in all aspects. Even though combining them upset the balance, it made the elementals larger, have a more concentrated fire, and what looked like, a little smarter.


    My idea is that if I combine the other elements would it create an even smarter elemental. That it could possibly, over time, be able to share in the expanses beauty. Also, I predict that by combining the elements it would grow a greater authority above the other elements domains, like lightning. This will only work if it doesn''t conflict with the lightning.


    Now to decide what elements to use.


    I probably should not combine fire and water. They would react negatively together and cancel each other out. So as a first test, combining earth and fire should turn out fine. With the steady earth calming the strong fire. To test my hypothesis I take the equal essence of earth and fire combining them together. Though, unlike the instant transformation of the elemental, the process was slow. After an unspecified amount of time it became a red glowing and moving rock. It was extremely hot and after careful examination, I continued to put it in both the fire and earth domains. To my surprise it could interact with both and not upset the balance!


    To mark this occasion I named it lava! It did not look like a new element but a lesser form of the two. It was actually the opposite of my earlier theory. So for that I will name it and any other creation like it, an elemental process. This is by it being the same way I created the larger elementals and it being from the elements.


    Now I know my original goal was not accomplished but, maybe other combinations will? Another safe combination could be air and water. Air, with how its currents are constantly changing and water with how moldable it can be. After making sure the air and water essence are both equal I combined them together. Another slow process through their merging, made water that curls and crashes above the rest of the water. I called these waves and by extension its movement water currents. Some small, others large, the waves were influenced from its predecessors free shape and movement.


    What came next surprised me. After the waves were created in the area I combined the elements, they showed up all through the water. All along the top of the water, different wave emerged. This unexpected event is interesting. Does that mean that anything I create can afterwards be made naturally! To test this I go deep into the earth looking for lava. I find exactly what I am looking for. Though I will call it magma when it¡¯s in the earth and only call it lava when it¡¯s outside the earth. I changed the naming to commemorate this event. Though I wonder if there will be an impact on the elements for these combinations?     For my next combination I¡¯ll combine fire and air. This will be interesting to see how it turns out. I take equal parts of fire and air essence, and combine them. What came from the slow process was a fire that grew and shrank in both heat and size based on the air around it. Though once there is an absence of air the fire would extinguish. I called this fire, the mortal flame. This is because it has great potential but relies on an outside force, air. So without the air, it would be terminated. In the fire domain, the mortal flame only showed up around the edges, where air was present.


    Since my first three elemental processes were successful, I think it is time to try something risk. My idea was that I could combine earth and air together. This may be a problem because air is constantly changing and earth is solid. But with the possibility of the something new I have to try. With equal parts of earth and air essence, I combined them. After a slow combination process, what came out was soft and airy earth, which I call soil. What happened next did not surprise me as much with what happened with the waves but the uppermost earth all became soil.


    Considering my last risky combination turned out alright, one more should be fine. In combining fire and water, I will need to be extremely careful. For fire is hot and grows with water being cool and tenacious. For the combination I carefully took exactly an equal parts of water and fire essence and combined them together. This made a heated area of water that floated. I could view it perfectly but if I had worse vision it would make my vision by it obscured. I called it mist. To see its effects I only had to look over the calmer parts of the water. It floated above the water but could not stay stable over the rougher waves.


    Continuing my fun, I decided to combine water and earth. I did not know what to expect after all the other elemental processes but I certainly would find out. By taking equal parts of water and pure earth essence I combined them together. To be honest I was a little disappointed because nothing happened. But just to make sure I waited. After ages of waiting a clear rock formed with bunches of the same around it. It had a pointed top and multiple different sides. It was beautiful. I called this gorgeous rock, a crystal. To see how crystals naturally form, I first wait many more ages, leaving time for more to grow, and went into the earth. I didn¡¯t have to go nearly as far to find the crystals as I did the magma. When I found the crystals, they were amazing, some bunches were the same as I personally created but others were full of color. There were all colors imaginable, blues, reds, yellows, purples, greens, blacks, oranges, and many more! It was way more beautiful than I ever expected. But that just reminded me of my goal I had yet to accomplish.

 Chapter 4-A Revelation!

    So far I have found no combination that gets me closer to what I want. At least I have created more to fill the expanse. Though it does trouble me to say this but I have started to feel a new emotion, weariness. I had tried time and time again and as previously stated, and it hasn¡¯t worked. Though I will continue a little longer, for I must try some more.


    To change up my elemental combinations I will use air and mist. I decided to do this because it seems to be the next logical stage. I do not know if I will need to use less air essence equal to the parts of water and fire that was combined to make mist. That the air might overpower the mist for it was made up of smaller portions of the elements. Really I have no idea, but, there was only one way to find out. Taking equal portions of air and mist essence they are slowly combined. The result was neither fast nor slow as a condensed mist rose high in the air. I called it a cloud. All across the water there were clouds at different heights moving around at multiple speeds. Some, once they gained enough mist, dropped small drops of water, clumps of ice, and a powdery ice. I called the products of the clouds rain, hail, and snow. It gave the scene a sense of wondrous change.


    To further this type of development combining lava and water was an expansion of that idea. I took the parts of lava and water and ever so carefully combined them. The combination happened very quickly and resulted in multiple different kinds of rocks. I called these igneous rocks. It didn¡¯t really change much except to add more in the earth.


    Soon I tried many different combinations like lava and air, mist and fire, crystal and air, and mortal flame with water. Though nothing really happened when they combined and fizzled out. I was so desperate for something to happen that in a moment of impatience I combined lightning with cloud. It was really an instantaneous motion but I still did equal parts. Finally something happened, what appeared to occur was the cloud slowly darkened and started to rain. At first I thought that was it, but then a violent jagged bolt of lightning exploded through the clouds, followed by a loud Bang! The lightning created a sound aftershock just by its creation! I had to make this a specific type of sound that follows lightning. Thus is was named thunder. And following suit I called the cloud a storm, specifically a thunderstorm.


    Now I think it is time I stop for a while. I had created something so interesting and I want to continue but I believe I have been going on for too long. I have wandered for eons and recently gone through stressful experiments without any rest. It should be time to rest my consciousness for some time. So I slowly drifted off in peace.

    My unfocused self slowly came into focus. Brought back from my rest, I gained awareness of my surroundings above the water. With a moment of thought I decided to drift around the expanse to gain enlightenment for my experiments. Moving across the water I took notice of the clouds above. Some just plain others explosive with their power. I continued to watch them in a daze strait into the fire domain.Stolen story; please report.


    Wait. The clouds are over the fire domain¡­ that means they rain over it as well! I speed over to the clouds and watch them rain. The fire only sizzles when the water touches it. Does this mean the balance is upset?!


    I rush back towards the water domain and it is completely in balance. To be safe I then checked the stability of the air domain and earth domain as well. I¡¯m not really sure what this means for the expanse. In my rush, desperate for something to happen, I must have missed it earlier. I must inspect and see if any more cases of change has happened. Pushing through the fire domain I see something inconceivable. Pushing past the clouds and into the air is a huge cone of earth. Past this there is a series of them in different sizes and shapes. All of this in the middle of the fire domain. I go deep below into the earth and it started getting hotter and hotter. Eventually I reach a enormous area of flowing magma simply radiating heat. In observation it seems that it is the flowing magma causes the earth above it to shift and crash upwards together. It seems that some of the fire domain has partly shifted into the magma. Back up by the towering earth, I need a name for it. It should be called a mountain and the group of them should be called a mountain range. I explore further.


    Away from the mountains I see something interesting. A mountain that spews out lava. Said lava runs down the side of the mountain and has particles of grey flakes rising into the air. It also had a lot of igneous rock around it. After inspecting the new mountain, it seems it was caused by a buildup of magma underground. I name this a volcano. Also for fun I named the particles ash.


    Another observation was a wet soil caused by the rain. I called it mud. The extra water not absorbed by the earth created a path of flowing water called a river. But instead of flowing back toward the water domain, it created separate areas of water. Depending on size I called these ponds and lakes.


    Not only has the fire, air, earth, and waters elemental domains changed but light and darkness have as well. Even though light and darkness aren¡¯t elements and don¡¯t have domains like the four base elements and lightning, they do have areas of influence. Originally it was light shining over the fire and darkness covering the water. Now it is in a cycle of light then darkness over all the domains. The catalyst should have been when I introduced lightning into the cloud. Since lightning has a greater authority over light and darkness, having some lightning constantly moving should have made them move in response.


    With all the change in the domains it seems to me that they are merging together. That fire, water, air, earth, and even lightning, to some extent, is coming together to make one large elemental domain. Personally I am completely fine with the changes because the balance is kept and so many fascinating things are created. I continue to ponder over this new fact of the expanse.


    That¡¯s it! I don¡¯t know why I haven¡¯t thought of it before but, I should try combining the four elements together!

 Chapter 5- Hope

    To combine all four elements. This is an unprecedented idea. I have combined all the elements in different ways and fashions missing what might be the most important.


    What if by merging the four elements something completely new would be created. To not just be a subset of its origin elements.


    To combine them together I must be more cautious than ever before. I take carefully measured equal parts of earth, fire, air, and water essence. I took one more look over the amounts, and then compressed them together. The process was a long one, which did not take as long as the crystals, but still took a very long time. What formed was a thing so small I had to concentrate to see it. What took shape was a circular cover surrounding a fluid like substance. It didn¡¯t do anything. It sat still closing off a possibility for progression in my experiments. For that I named it a cell. This is because of the hope for advancement it sealed off.


    To not wallow in my newfound sadness, I continued to think of other ideas that I might have missed in my rush. I thought of what my very first experiment was. That was in fact combining elementals. My original experiment ended after I combined elementals of the same element. So to simply continue that experiment I should try merging different elements elementals together.


    The following pairings of elementals were air and water, fire and air, air and earth, water and fire, water and earth, and finally earth and fire. They all ended as complete and utter failures after destabilizing in the formation process. I even checked multiple times afterwards with repeat experiments to make sure I was doing the process correctly. As a follow up experiment I did all the possible three-way combinations for those four different elementals. AND NOTHING! There was no outcome for the experiment like all the others. This just left one experiment. To combine the elemental essence of all four of the elementals.


    For this process to work all of the different essences would need to reach a state of equilibrium and become balanced. But this would have to be a natural outcome of its combination, meaning that I can¡¯t try to force them together after it starts to fail. I really don¡¯t know what to do if this doesn¡¯t work. Though once again, I must continue.


    Taking equal parts of water, earth, air, and fire elemental essence I ever so carefully combined them together. The process was very slow for this one also, and so much so that it went just above the amount of time it took for the cell to form. By the end of the process the end product was even smaller than the cell! They had formed four small masses of condensed elemental essence. Each mass had the qualities of one of its originating elementals. They looked stable, but showed no signs of what I was looking for. These elemental pieces, which was what I now called them, showed no signs of being something different. This was unacceptable. I needed to have something substantial before I stop the experiment. I need to add something that would change them from what they are now. And that something has to be lightning elemental essence. For this is what I have that can supersede the authority of those four elemental essences. The combination should be the same as it had been with the elemental pieces, with the essences substituted with equal parts of the elemental pieces and the lightning elemental essence.     The procedure being attentive and decisive. Taking just as long as the elemental pieces the product was complete. Of course it looked much more complex as well. It had two spirals twisted around the other connected together by two bars. Both bars had connections at their centers showing each bar had two parts each. Making a total of four different pieces connected to the spirals. Upon closer inspection just like the condensed elemental pieces each bar segment had the properties of one of the four elements! Not only that, but, each spiral had the properties of lightning showing that the bars were in balance by the spirals. I have to name this something compelling because it is such an interesting substance but I just can¡¯t think of something proper. Until a better one is thought of it will have to be named DNA. Though by playing around with it I have learned much about what I can do with it. I can add and subtract segments to the DNA strands with also being able to divide strands apart and switch DNA between each other. Sadly I see no use for it. It has no effect on the expanse and does not move. Just like the cell.


    Wait¡­ this find has too much potential for it to have no effect. What if it can only show some effect when it is combined with something else. I know that I don¡¯t have any other basic substance I can use to combine it with but I do have other merged essences I could use. These probably wouldn¡¯t work because they would be subjected to the authority of the different elements and not stabilize. The only real option I have to use is the cell. Even though neither shows any use the DNA might have the potential to elevate their combination to the next level. With only one way to find out I combined the DNA, with a base in the ethereal, and the cell, with a base in the corporeal. The process was extremely fast, as if no time had really passed, maybe none had. For what came out surprised me dearly, as it looked like just a cell! When looked at in further detail there was DNA on the inside of cell. It did nothing. It just gave a more USELESS combination. I have to look at this closely because there has to be more to it that that. And more to it there was because soon after on it own it started to move. What a joyous sight it was. I need to see what is different! Hold on, before I get ahead of myself in the excitement, it shall need a name.


    For once I have decided to not name the creation something new. I will have it and others like it be named as a cell. This cell will have a different meaning from its namesake. The old cell was one named for its closure on my hope but this cell shall be named because it holds my hope for the future.

 Chapter 6- Exploration

    This is simply amazing. For after all my hard work finally I have something completely new. For my hope in this cell lies in the fact that it does not have a purpose designed directly towards the elements. So far it has moved at an extremely slow pace but with no reason. With this in mind it is time to decide a new path for my next round of experimentation. Of course it centers around the cell but to what end?


    To get to what is coming I need to use what is. As of now its state of being is lackluster and wasting much potential. So what needs to happen is to have it grow. To make that happen is of course unknown. The good part of this comes from the fact since I have created it is that I can therefore create more of them. I have a few ideas of what I could do. Some of them are putting them in different degrees of all the elements, putting them in groups, leaving them alone, manipulating with the cells, and observing cells that are created without interference. The last idea is my personal favorite because it has the cells created in its prefered environment and in the best way. The downside of this is that I will have to find them and as they are tiny, it will be annoying. Also it will most likely take some time for this to happen because of the difficulty of a new cells creation.


    The good thing is that I can do all of them at once. So I created some cells and put them in isolated environments of all the elements, including lightning, with multiple batches of both individual and grouped cells. I leave them alone with some of my consciousness around them so I would know if anything exciting happened around them.


    With that out of the way I believe that it would be best if I go searching for natural cells now and fiddle with some of my cells along the way. Of course I have no idea what environment they will appear in so I will have to search everywhere. Through all the domains and environments possible.


    I spit my consciousness into parts again with one for exploration and another for experimentation. As the exploring consciousness drifts off the experimenting part begins.


    The information I have to work with is little but it is enough. For I can change the sequence of the DNA in the cells and hope something changes. And overtime after billions and billions of combinations I finally come across a sequence that does something. The cell grew a strand at the back of its being. This strand moved it around propelling itself. Now I¡¯m getting somewhere!


    Although it might not seem like much progress after all the work put in it further proves my original idea that it is special. After a few more centuries fiddling with the cells my exploring piece of consciousness detected something. In fact it was a group of native cells! These cells were so isolated that it took me this long to find them. They were at the bottom of the water centered around heated shafts of underwater waves that came from a cylinder of earth. These cylinders, or vents as I will now call them, had the cells clustered around them. These cells were different from my own for they had little dots in within its membrane and in fact had a thicker membrane itself. The native cells were also doing an activity all by itself. They seemed to take something from the water coming out of the vents and converting it into some kind of power. This power had vestiges of all the elements excluding lightning with fire from the heat, earth from the particles coming out of the shaft, water from the water around it, and the air derived from the underwater waves.Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent.     This power was taken by the cells and used to grow more cells. Not only that, some cells after years of observation have tried to use that power, now renamed energy, to enhance themselves. This was by adding more strands or even thicker membranes. The absorption of energy clearly showed its importance here. As the generations went on these changes were also marked in each of their DNA. This is a huge marker of the relationship between the cell and the DNA. The DNA marks what the cell does and how it can change. With this in mind I memorized the different DNA structures and started to understand how the different combinations actually affect the cell.


    By moving and changing the DNA structure I was able to change how some of the cells worked. Through the shape of the cells and the added strands. The experimentation was bountiful but I feel like this can not be the only environment cells can generate. To search for more native cells I need to search for places that have environments like the underwater vents. Places where cells can grow with the needed elements.


    Surprisingly enough my exploring consciousness comes back with results relatively quickly. He found similar cells to the ones by the vents at superheated ponds of water by volcanoes. Though with similar searches and experiments revealed no results with cells in pure environments of each of the elements, including lightning. It seems they need at least a base environment with the elements of water, earth, air, and fire to form. Although it is a wonder why in the natural base formation of the cells do not need lightning even though they are found within the DNA.


    Now with the exploration out of the way, it is the best time to try and enhance the cells into something better and hopefully bigger. The only thing I could think of that could help the process would be energy. Now although the native cells do get energy I don¡¯t believe that it is enough to go beyond to its full potential. I may need to add large amounts of energy myself to not only speed up the process but to give the cells the chance to develop.
