《Blood Destruction: The Story of Amai》 Prologue: Death Defying Decision They had finnaly run out of food and water. Amai and Vey had been surviving on their stored supplies and foraging within a one kilometere radius of their home, the radius their mom had told them they could hunt and forage in safely, a little more than three years ago in a note she left them before she suddenly left. Now Amai is thirteen and Vey is ten, their cheeks were hollow, their ribs showing, ragged and crudely patched up clothes covering their dark chocolate coloured skin, their scruffy and unkempt hair flailing in the wind that came through the many holes and cracks in the rundown wooden ccabin they called their home. It hadnt rained for months now, all plants were brown and dry, and all animals that hadnt died or been hunted down moved to greener pastures. The large acacia tree beside the cabin had long since dried up. Hearing his his tired looking sisters stomach grumble, he knew, he had to make a choice. He propped himself up using his trusty crude spear, its cloth grip brown with dust and sweat its end moving with the wind, the iron head chipped away with age. The termite eaten floor boards creaked under his weight. He walked over and pulled up Vey from the old rickety chair she had been sitting on, and they both in silence, except from the rustling wind, walked out of the hut, Amai thinking to himself, ''sorry mom'', his head filled with determination to survive. Their mom had always been kind and gentle with them, passing a lot of her knowledge to them, teaching them and raising them. That was why he felt more betrayed. More angered. What mother would abandon her children with a short note and no explanation? Vey had long since forgived their mother, only longing for her return, but he resented her. There was no way she would ever get back into his heart that easily. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Soon they arrived at one of the numerous trees marked with their mothers blade showing the edge of the set boundary, long dried up and cracking. He stopped and looked back, Vey gently squeezing his hand. He turned and quickly gave her a reasuring smile, her tiredly reciprocating it. He had been giving her most of the last portions as she would be more fatigued and hungrier than him, leading him to survive on one small meal a day, Vey eating three, but he still fared better than her. It was really strange, but their impending doom or survival blocked out his thoughts. "You ready?" Amai asked. "Mmhm." Vey asnwered. Hand in hand they walked past the tree. 1: Right decision The air seemed to shake for a second, rippling before the tree head of them that had looke brown and desolate before turned a slight hade of green, showing life. a small herd of impala roaming not too far from them. Amai''s eyes filled up with tears, Vey hugged Amais arm in hope. He had made the right decision. He turned back around but to his astonishment, the tree with the marking was no longer there and neither was the path that run from the tree all the way home. The same savannah grassland had replaced it with trees showing signs of life and birds flying on and off branches. They looked at each other in shock. Amai stuck his hand right into where they had come from and it had dissapeared. Some sort of cloaking. Amai fell into deep thought but after seeing his sisters hungered face, finding food was more important. After walking for a while they spotted a shrub of wild orange trees. As they walked towards the trees a single question still persisted in his head. What made their home area so dry and desolate? Before they had gone far amai had set a pile of rocks to mark where they left the home area from he felt it might be useful later on. The orange trees had enough fruit to psuh them on for a while until the got some more food. He let Vey go first to eat and helped her peel some as she was struggling a bit due to her weakness. It was his fault. He did this. He got her into this state, he had waited two days before choosing to leave, still latchong onto memories of a mother who abandoned them. It was his fault, and it was his responsibility to bear, not hers. Vey saw the converned lok on his face and stopped eating the orange in her hands. She moved close and hugged him. "Thank you Mai," she said gently,"it''s not your fault, so please eat." she added, knowing exactly what he was thinking. She always could read him. They were the only ones they could rely on after all. They knew each other inside out. He put his arm round her hugging her back and took the orange she was handing she ws handing him. After eating a lot of fruit and resting they recovered a good amount of energy. It was a bit past midday from where the sun hang. It was time to get a propper meal. Amai remembered what direction the small herdof deer had taken. He checked the wind direction planning to come at them with the wind moving bewind them so as not to alert the herd. He also looked for any signs of beast that would normally also hunt deer. Their mother had both taught them how to hunt and fight since the day they could walk, one thing he was constantly grateful for, otherwise surviving a month let alone three years would have been imposssible. Vey circled round to his left with her two daggers left behind by their mom for her. Vey and Amai had honed their teamwork after years of hunting and fighting together. They crouched and slowly advanced to the unsuspecting impala. Amai raised his spear, aiming at the soft underside of the deer, his arm and chest muscles contracting, he threw the spear. His precision and accuracy impecable, wasting close to no movement and energy for the best outcome, to the point where if competitive javelin throwers were to watch they would be amazed at his mastery, breaking all their expectations of what a thirteen year old boy could achieve. This was only due to the numerous days of training he had gone through, something that would even break the minds of adults were they to experience the same. Vey not a moment behind Amai threw one of her daggers expertely cutting throught the deers neck, quick and clean, her expertise not any lesser than that of Amai, quickly taking down the animal, the whole process taking less than a moment. They quickly had a fire going and Amai skinned the deer, and begun to roast a leg. He would smoke the rest for later. He wanted to finish and get back home before dark as more higher tiered beast would appear. There were nine beast tiers, categorising them according to age. Earth tier beast had an age of 10 years max, Copper tier beasts 100 years, Silver 1000 years, Gold 10,000 years, Diamond 100,000 years, Blood beasts 1 million years, Emarald tier beasts 10 million years and Royal beasts that were between 10 million and 100million years old. After each tier a beasts power increased, multiplying severally. Theoretically there was one more tier but none had seen it before nor has it ever been recorded in any manuscripts. It only exists in the many myths and stories passed down by tribes. Amai and Vey were very knowledgeable about the outside world and its happenings due to their mothers daily strict lessons. Amai had only ever seen an Earth tier beast before, from a distance and wit the protection of his mother. She had clearly told him then that if he were to encounter an Earth tier beast as he were he should prepare to cut off a limb and throw it to destract the beast as he got away, otherwise forefeit his life. The nightime which brough on copper beasts, 10 times as powerful as Earth tier beasts, was not something they could handle. He laid back on a tree as Vey tended to the meat, he was tired. Not long after, a roar came from the nearby patch of trees. 2: Encounter Amai and Vey looked at each other while slowly standing up, and watched as an Earth-tier beast walked through the shrubs. Its navy blue scales shone in the sunlight. It was 2 and a half metres long and 4 meteres wide. Its armoured tail which looked like it had a spiked ball at the end swayed from side to side slowly. Its long fangs and short nose turned to Amai. It was a Dark Armoured Flat-Back Kheifer, known forits high defence and paralizing attributes .It was a commonly used breed by bandits and hunters and sure enough there was a man on a saddle on its back. This was commonpace in a world where people could make contracts with beasts, that is if the beast approved of them. He wore brown light leather armour, with two brown utility belts, one across his waist and the other across his solar plexus. He also wore a black undershirt and black pants under the armour. He had a bow on his back, it had a green sheen that matched the green dagger on his waist. Amai looed for his spear. It was propped up against a tree a couple of metres away. He started a dash for it, but from the brush between him an the spear another Dark Armoured Flat-Back Kheifer appeared, its rider smiling devilishly at Amai.If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Shit. He''d been careless! The Kheifer ahead of him released an ear piercing cry. Amai felt like his mind was vibrating. He fell on his nees and so did Vey. At this point his head felt like it was about to rupture. It was one of the Kheifers abilities. Shrill Cry. Puts the enemy into a vunerable state and weakening them for about 30 seconds. The rider wore black light clothing with small brown armour pates scattered around his body. He held a short axe in one hand as he hed the reins in the other. "Ohohooooo, looky what we have here. Some damn fine cubs I might say," the one with the bow said rearing his beast. "Fucking hell, lets just test them already, we are losing daylight!!" the other said. "Ok, damn, where did I put it?" The first one said to himself, rummaging through one of the bags tied to his beast,"Aaaah! Here we go!" The other had alreadybegun to tie up Amai while the other climbe off. Soon both Amai and Vey were tie up in their weakened state. Amai came to a realization. It finally added up. Their rmour and weapons were of superior quality. Armour and weapons were similary divided into tiers, from worst to best quality, Common-Tierequiptment, Earth-Tierequiptment, Copper-Tierequiptment, Silver-Tierequiptment, Gold-Tierequiptment, Diamond-Tier equiptment, Blood-Tierequiptment and Emarald-Tierequiptment. Their armour and weapons were all of Copper-Tier. One piece of Copper-Tier equiptment cost n excess of 1000 gurn. The most money Amai had ever seen was 20 gurns, a large percentage what his mother ue to buy the supply, leaving only 3 in his posesion. No common bandits would have such high tier equiptment, except the most heineous of bandits.... Human Traffickers!! 3: Submission Human Traffickers. Those who searched for, abducted and traded high magic-potential people, selling them of to the rich who would turn them into body guards or more likely, train them into fighters and put them up in underground dogfights. These traffickers preffered targetting children, as they could be developed and trained better and as they would have longer worklife. They probably will be sold to some rich noble who would put them in the arenas, to earn more money, gain more reputation or for pure pleasure. "Lets start with the girl," the first bandit said with a henious smile on his face, walking to Vey, holding the orb carefully in his hands. He got to where she was tied up, a couple meteres opposite Amai, and crouched. "When we untie you, put your hands on the orb. No monkey business!" Vey shot him arebelious look, angered. He was mad if he thought she would do as he says. She spat at the ground next to him. Instead of getting angered the bandit smiled and said,"I always like the fiesty ones. Geff!!" "Yessir!" Geff, the other bandit in black answered, moving to Amai. "Looks like she needs some motivatin!" "I think i can find some of that," Geff replied smiling evily, grabbing Amai by his scruffy hair and lifting him, sending a hard blow to his face. Amai grunted as he fell. "No!" Vey screamt as the scene unfolded before her, but the bandit was not done yet. He pulled back his right leg before delivering a powerful kick to Amais stomach, making him vomit. He begun stomping on Amais head, stopping halfay on the second strike hearing Veys voice.Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. "Stop! Stop! I''ll do it, dont hurt him any more." She said tearing up and her voice cracking, seeing Amai curled up, his nose runnig and vomit dripping from his mouth. His eyes were red and tearing from the initial hit to his nose. "No, don''t" Amai said in a weak voice, looking at Vey. "Who allowed you to talk!" The bandit commented, stomping on his head, then following up with a kick to his groin. Vey wailed and cried feeling guilty. ''Its my fault''. This was the only thought occupying her head. "Ill do it, stop!" she said crying. The bandit cut her hands free releasing her. She quickly put her shaking hands on the orb. The orb begun to glow, then quickly brightened to a blinding light, which quickly changed into a red hue. "Woah. We will at least get 10,000 gurns for her. The fire affinity is really rare these days." One of the bandits said, his hand on his hips. Instead of the orb fading, the orb changed into a deep blue hue. "No way!! Dual elements! We''re rich!" the other bandit said in rejoice. However it did not stop there. Veys mind felt clear, it felt like she was in a warm bath. The orb quickly proceeded to a brown hue, Veys hair gently rising. The jaws of the bandits hang slack. "Tr..tri...tripple elements." Geff still next to Amai said in a low tone, not believing his eyes. "Our whole lineage is gonna be sorted for life. We can even become Viscounts!" the other said. "No no no no. We cannot sell her. She''s ours. We''ll set her up in te arena and earn much more than selling her, then even Earldom woudnt be out of our reach," the bandit next to Amai contradicted. "Lets quickly test the other one, we might be [1]digging gold with a diamond shovel." the first bandit said excitedly as he walked over to Amai with the orb in hand. "Boy. You better do as we say. We might not be able to beat her up like you since she''s such an important asset," he said pointing at Vey," but we can still torture her, not hindering her potential in any way, such as pulling out her nails," he added puling out a pair of pliers. "We would still have to train her after all," the other added chuckling. Amai was in despair. They had no chances, none. Only one thought resided in his mind, to protect Vey. They planned to torture and train Vey into a fighting machine. He must go with her, then they might have a chance for escape. He cant let them get seperated. Amai gave a short nod, sheathing the spite still in his eyes, he had to protect Vey.
