《Journey to World Domination》
Chapter 1 - Transported to Another World
I want to go to another world.
I don¡¯t remember when I first started having these thoughts. I lived a pretty normal life, its what you¡¯d call the life of a Mob A or B. Just suuupper boring is all.
Ever since I graduated Highschool and moved overseas per my mom¡¯s request, to live a better life is what she wanted me to have. From a 3rd world country, moving into a 1st world country with better opportunities, education and health care.
And so I did, I went with her. It wasn¡¯t bad at all, I met new friends and learned new things.
It¡¯s just boring¡ I¡¯m not exactly like most people here, though that could be said the same from where I grew up in either way. Most my age liked to party, get drunk and talk about football or some such and which team is going to win next week¡¯s match, etc etc.
I never really fit in. I found solace in playing games and watching anime, then it went to manga as I caught up to the latest episodes, eventually I went to the web and light novel versions as I caught up with that too.
Then it just keeps repeating as I find new content to consume. Eventually I finished through most of them and its back to boring old life with attending university, working part-time and sleeping.
After I finally saved enough money, I eventually moved out and ¡°left the nest¡± as it were.
Every time I had time to spare I always end back up to the same thought pattern as always.
I want to go to another world.
Living in a sci-fi or fantasy world, now that¡¯d be exciting.
Going to a journey to attain unbelievable strength.
Conquering a dungeon and saving damsels in distress.
Finally defeating the Demon King that¡¯s been terrorising the world¡¯s peace.
Maybe even create a super-secret organisation that controls the world from behind the curtains. Being a mafia or yakuza boss would be cool after all.
And most importantly, building a harem of beautiful women and eventually raising a big family as I retire and relax, enjoying such a blissful life after I¡¯ve completed such an unrealistic bucket-list.
Of course, none of those are going to happen. This is real life after all, there¡¯s no such thing as magic anyway.
Eventually my daydreaming started to die down as I begrudgingly let go of such out of this world delusions.
But I never gave up on a few things, just in case this unrealistic dream of mine actually happens.
After all, what if I really did get transported to another world?
It would be better if I already have knowledge I can take advantage of once I¡¯m there.
With the power of science and human innovation accumulated from Earth¡¯s history of human technological advancements. I could revolutionise that new reality.
I could learn various martial arts from across the world and gain combat experience. I could just imagine myself in a 10-year old¡¯s body dominating a group of thugs bare-handed while saving a loli in need of rescue.
Kekekeke
Oops, my delusions are at it again.
And so, I made a decision.
With the opportunities and tools in my hand, I¡¯ll absorb everything I can in this world in preparation for my eventual journey to another world!
With that in mind, I started studying even harder. On my days off from uni and my work, I started paying attention to my physical health and fitness.
I made a focus on STEM subjects as I believe it¡¯s the most practical route for gaining better advantages once I¡¯m in another world!
Learning about the human body is essential if I want to be the best. After all, as a famous strategist, general once said, if I know myself and my enemy then I¡¯ll surely win.
Knowing my weaknesses will let me better cover them and knowing my enemies¡¯ weak points gives me that much more of an advantage over them.
Technology and Engineering are subjects that I¡¯ve always been interested in, that¡¯s partly why I majored in Mechatronics in the first place. Having knowledge in mechanical principles, physics and how electrical components work will surely come in handy if I ever need to create some gadgets and the like.
And Mathematics¡ Although I¡¯m never a fan of it since I was young because every time I have to do some algebra with those weird letters and numbers being mixed up, it just frustrates me as I have no idea if I¡¯ll ever even use this later on. Then my math professor once said to class one day, ¡°most of you might never need this after graduating, but the smart ones definitely will¡±. I couldn¡¯t help but giggle a little from that one line but I begun to understand what me meant not long after.
You really do need it for so many things without even realising it, 100x more so for me since I decided to major in an engineering course. Haah~ I can only blame myself for having such goals.
Don¡¯t get me wrong, I might¡¯ve started all this crazy goal of absorbing all the knowledge and skills I can get for the dream of eventually being transported to another world. But I¡¯m not that delusional and na?ve that I¡¯d ignore the reality where It will never happen.
After all, having all this knowledge, skills and accumulated experience will still be a major help in this world. Finding a good-paying job that¡¯ll let me live comfortably and sustain my hobbies is just a bonus, maybe I¡¯ll find something truly interesting here either way.
Who knows, maybe I¡¯ll grew out of this and forget my childish dreams. Find a lovely woman to marry and eventually settle down.
That would also be nice, I guess.
Though in the meantime, to prepare myself for that chance to be transported into another world. I¡¯ll not give up on this goal just yet.
Time to learn and train some more.
Speaking of training, I decided to try that one-p*nch man training course for a full year. Although I eventually finished through it and gained a lean and muscular physique, I eventually stopped as I need more variety. Training the body is just step-1 of being a world-class fighter that can beat up the demon king after all!The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
So after contemplating for a few days after my training, I joined the local Muay Thai gym. There weren¡¯t any judo, karate or boxing gyms nearby, so I went for Muay Thai.
It¡¯s totally not because I thought it was really cool how they can bend steel pipes with their kicks okay.
I even joined a local archery club since their firing range is just literally beside my gym. Thinking about how I can shoot an arrow between a bird¡¯s eyes from a hundred meters away makes me shake with excitement.
That¡¯s how I usually spend my day to day life for the next few years until I graduated with barely a Masters.
Instead of going straight for a job, I went travelling for 5 years.
A sort of soul-searching I believe.
I went around the world using all the money I saved up from my part-time job and selling most of my belongings.
I travelled the world and went to different dojos and training halls across japan, thai land, china, india, etc. and of course I didn¡¯t just train in Muay Thai while I was in university. Even though I have to travel across the next town and such, I joined other gyms and combined the techniques I accumulated to create my own unique fighting style.
With everything I¡¯ve had until now, I continued to improve my martial prowess and gained even more experience in the pursuit of absolute strength.
With enough strength, I can protect myself and those I can about. I can be a deterrence against enemies who might wish me harm. Combining my martial prowess with my knowledge from earth I can do anything I would ever want.
Though committing crime and getting shot would still kill me though.
The human body cannot go against the weapons of man, let alone nukes and bombs, getting shot by a gun or stabbed in the chest would straight up kill me.
That¡¯s why in this journey of soul searching, other than travelling to challenge fighters across the world.
There¡¯s one thing I know that can challenge the weapons of man. That¡¯s right.
MAGIC!
If I can find magic, learn it and become a supernatural power.
Wouldn¡¯t that mean I can challenge the weapons of man?
Thinking about how criminals would try to mug me from a back-alley, shooting at me only for it to have no effect. Truly wondrous indeed.
That¡¯s why I went to Tibet and joined the monks in search of enlightenment. I sat down in a meditative pose under a waterfall, sometimes I¡¯d perform some shadow boxing while being crushed under the weight of the waterfall. I¡¯d fast for a week in search of an epiphany. I went naked as I lived in the amazon for months, relying on nature, being one with nature. There was even a time I joined a pack of wolves and another one where I fought a gorilla and lived with them.
I did all this while I¡¯m on my journey in pursuit of strength and magic.
Eventually, nothing happened.
I didn¡¯t manifest any magical and supernatural abilities or powers.
Though spending those 5 years the way I did has given me a fresh new perspective on life.
Looking at my body from a bathroom mirror in a motel I just rented in, apart from the messy and long hair and beard, combined with the dirty clothes I¡¯m wearing. I really do look like a caveman or a refugee that got lost in a forest.
Though I guess that¡¯s not too far off.
No wonder the receptionist wasn¡¯t too keen on letting me stay. The security guard has been glaring at me with his hand holding onto the baton on his waist, ready to strike at me as soon as I make a suspicious move.
I can¡¯t really blame them, looking the way I do right now.
Anyway, I cut down my hair to a more manageable length. I can never understand how the main characters in the animes and mangas I¡¯ve read never cut their hair down. Wouldn¡¯t it get in the way if you¡¯re in the middle of an intense death match with the main villain? What if the wind blew caused the hair to cover your face while you¡¯re running, wouldn¡¯t you trip down then? I find that stupid to be honest.
Though I feel like a hypocrite now that I¡¯ve thought about it. Living in the jungle and letting my hair grow this much did become a big hassle. Especially when I was hunting for food and the wet hair stuck to my face almost making me trip.
Finishing with cleaning myself and shaving my beard, I can¡¯t help but admire my body right now. I look like a generic MMA fighter with 6~8% body fat, standing at 185cm and weighing 95kg, truly an absolute unit of a man with my black hair and dark brown eyes.
Seems my training has not put me down.
I wonder when I¡¯ll ever get transported to another world?
Well, for now I¡¯ll head back home. Visit my family and check up with some acquaintances.
It¡¯s been 8 years since I went on my soul searching journey.
I¡¯m already 38 years old now.
I never truly settled down after all this. Still being a bachelor with no significant relationships to speak of.
I did get into some short relationships with some women. It never really did last.
Maybe it was my personality? I was never really like everyone else, I¡¯m not confident enough to assume its in a good way either.
Aside from short dates and occasional one-night stands with random girls from a bar or some woman working for a company I¡¯m doing freelance work with.
Life here¡¯s pretty dull no matter how many years have passed.
Sometimes in order to get some excitement once in a while, I¡¯d hire a prostitute and fuck for hours thanks to my amazing stamina. There¡¯re even a few times I did it with college girls fresh out of high school.
I can¡¯t really say my moral compass and world view and common sense are similar to a normal person so this kinds of things never really bothered me.
I never actually stopped my training even now, although I haven¡¯t done anything like travelling again for an extended period of time to seek enlightenment and fight with people.
Occasionally I¡¯d drive to the next town, dress up in all black with a ski mask while charging into an underground crime organisations side branch. Picking fights here and there, though I mainly target criminals, sometimes I¡¯d sneak around alleyways looking for thugs in the middle of a drug deal and charge at them.
I even managed to get some reputation as some insane vigilante, getting attention from the police isn¡¯t really my cup of tea so I went low for a while.
In order to pass the time, I even did some work as a hired gun. Of course, I¡¯d do my own research and if I think the guy deserves it, I¡¯d sneak up on the target and beat the shit out of him. If the things he did are bad enough, I¡¯d kill them to get rid of the problem from the root.
That¡¯s something I never understood from those superhero movies, the main villain always gets out of prison. They¡¯d keep killing people until the hero finally confronts them, they¡¯d fight with the city, their loved one or sometimes even the whole world at stake. Then after the hero wins, he¡¯d spout some shit like ¡°I¡¯m nothing like you¡± or ¡°I¡¯ll save everyone¡± then knock the villain out before sending him back to jail only for him to escape again to repeat the process.
I mean, I get what they mean. You¡¯re the hero, so you don¡¯t want to dirty your hands and take a man¡¯s life in hopes that he¡¯ll get redemption or to prove to the villain that he¡¯s wrong and you two are not alike.
But what¡¯s the point in that? The hero¡¯s pride and morals just get more people killed in the long run because he can¡¯t kill the villain and get it over with. That¡¯s just stupid.
Obviously, I know it¡¯s just a made up story for entertainment and all. Nothing to get serious about, but nevertheless. I don¡¯t want to live like that, I¡¯m not interested in living like a righteous servant of justice. As long as I can get what I want, keep what I want and protect what I want, then that¡¯s all that matters. I mean, if I have an enemy that¡¯ll keep coming back that¡¯ll cause me danger every time, why can¡¯t I just end it so I don¡¯t have to worry about him anymore? Sure, there¡¯s probably going to be some massive consequence later on for not doing the ¡°proper heroic way¡± but I don¡¯t care. I¡¯ll deal with that later when it comes up, I¡¯d rather not have the same cockroach villain come back over and over again. At least this way its more exciting and varied.
I expressed my thoughts in my head as I snapped the guy¡¯s neck 270degrees for good measure. I dropped the body gently on the floor as I watch the head wobble a bit, showing how separated his head is to his body in the process.
I grabbed a burner phone with a camera on it as I proceeded to take a photo of my target to show my client that the job is done.
I looked around the room in search of valuables that I can pawn for cash later on, erasing any evidence that can track me down in the process. No harm in taking what I can as a bonus instead of just rushing out as soon as I finish the mission, got to be practical and take advantage of everything I can get my hands on.
Ahh, I found a nice Rolex watch on the table by the bed. This guy is rich after all, I might as well take his wallet and check his phone.
His phone has a wallpaper of himself along with a woman who appears to be in her 30s holding a little girl no older than 4 years old. This old man¡¯s family huh. I guess they¡¯re be shocked to find out this guy¡¯s dead, the woman¡¯s husband doesn¡¯t know how he¡¯s a huge pedophile that¡¯s been funding an illegal brothel that uses children taken from orphanages.
I¡¯m not really against having sexual relations with youngsters, but kids who¡¯ve barely any clue on how the world works are a big no-no, especially forcing them for it. That¡¯s for savages, this guy even makes me sick.
Though I feel bad for the family, this guy deserves to die as far as I¡¯m concerned.
As I finish with getting all the contacts from the phone, including information about his associates I uploaded his information and deeds on the internet using his account. I threw the phone on the floor right next to his rapidly cooling corpse.
After I finished getting everything I can from the room, I checked my surroundings and made sure it¡¯s clear and that I didn¡¯t forget anything that could be used to track me down before I left the premises.
Alright, Mission Complete.
Chapter 2 - Recruitment Program
It¡¯s almost a year now since I¡¯ve started acting as a vigilante and hitman.
The city I¡¯m currently in right now didn¡¯t have as much crime or underworld activity, or even work as a hitman.
Eventually I got bored again. I¡¯ve been doing the same repetitive training on my off days while working freelance as always. Signing a contract and staying with a single company just isn¡¯t my thing, there isn¡¯t as much freedom compared to what I have now. Even though it doesn¡¯t pay as much, I can easily get by without much problem.
Since it¡¯s easy enough to steal money from muggers at night.
Though wouldn¡¯t that mean I¡¯m also a mugger? Oh well, its not like they didn¡¯t steal the money from someone else.
Lately these occurrences aren¡¯t as frequent as they used to be. They¡¯ve probably caught up with the recent passed out muggers I¡¯ve tied to street lamps after taking their money. The rest probably got scared and went to hiding.
The boredom is really getting to me now, I might as well move out to a more exciting city. There¡¯s bound to be plenty of night time work I can do there compared to what I¡¯m having these days.
With that thought in my mind, I proceeded to plan my next adventure towards a more exciting location with lots of criminal activity to work with.
Such thoughts flowed through the mind of a lone man within a dark and damp room. The four walls that surrounded him did not present any window or door which he can use as his exit from the enclosure.
Though with the absence of light, his vision did not allow for any confirmation to which he can gain information from. The room was dark, terribly dark that looking at his hands across his face did not yield any results. No crevices or seams to which light may enter through.
It was so quiet that it was deafening, the room was probably shut so tight that no sound or vibration can enter from outside his confinement. The man¡¯s breathing, terribly soft and feeble between such long intervals that one might think him dead rang like the tempest winds during a typhoon, isolated and unable to escape.
Time passed through a trickle, days or weeks passed unbeknownst to the trapped man. The slow torture of such isolation weighed down on his mind as he struggled to cling to his feeble mortal life.
Then, a moment later the sound of a hatch being fried open rumbled like thunder in this isolated room.
With his last ounce of meagre strength, the man slowly lifted his head to face the sound by instinct. What shone before his dull, tired eyes was a glimpse of light that pervaded within the room through the widening gaps above the four walls of the prison the man slowly came to feel as his grave.
As the illuminating light caressed his pale grey skin, his figure decrepit. His body riddled with wounds, the pus, dried blood and scabs covered his skin. The muscles honed through years of rigorous training that can only be achieved through decades of fighting was nowhere to be seen, aside from the scars that accompanied him, what sat there is a body of skin and bones, just a husk of his former self.
But all this can be ignored in front of his eyes, terribly bright and filled with power as if to pierce through the soul of anyone who gaze upon them. Such immense willpower and focus unfit for such a person so close to death¡¯s door. But here he is, so weak and feeble as if the slightest winds can carry him to the afterlife. His eyes stared through the gaps of the ceiling door, beyond the source of light towards the young man holding it, staring at him in turn.
--
Within the outskirts of a city, by the countryside farm lands during a rainy night with thunderstorms wreaking havoc across the skies.
A dilapidated farm house collapsed and broken down on a patch of open land in a corn field, as the building slowly went up in flames as it gets devoured until embers remain.
There lied within the raging fires, dozens of figures riddle with holes covered floor as a lone man stood in the centre. The man was young, holding a pistol in each hand with smoke still rising from the barrels¡¯ tips. Quite obvious that the corpses where a result of the man¡¯s own doing.
The spreading fire illuminated the man¡¯s face, his bearing that of a king, sporting short black hair with golden eyes and a perfectly symmetric face as if artificially created through the best plastic surgeon the world can ever offer. It seemed too perfect to ever be called natural. His age no more than 20, stood calm and collected as he surveyed his surroundings looking for any signs of where his target may be contained.
The young man had been tasked to retrieve a prized asset as ordered by his father.
No more than half a minute passed before he discovered a hidden passage below the floorboards of the house. Proceeding within with caution, careful of any traps that may hid within.
Within the long corridors of the underground passage, the young man trekked at an even pace while holding a tight grip on his firearms ready to shoot at the slightest indication of threat.
It did not take long before the young man reached an old set of worn out stairs, indicating how it has been through its fair share of use. Through the descending stone stairs with nary an end to it, as the light from an old oil lamp hang by a nearby wall cannot even illuminate and show where the stairs end.
As if it¡¯s the most natural thing in the world, the young man grabbed the oil lamp and descended, with nary a hesitation. Plunging down into the abyss where stairs seemed like a gaping maw ready to devour its prey, directing the young man to his destination. The young man proceeded with calmness like a still lake, undisturbed by any force of nature.
After an unknown amount of time has passed, depth incalculable, the young man reached the end of the stairs. Within his sight, brightened by the oil lamps faint light a thick metal door laid flat on the floor.
Unlike the rest of the dungeon where the young man descended into, the door was smooth and dark, absorbing any light that may shine on its direction, with sets of reinforced locks on the hinges as if to warn any who see it to heed caution. For whatever beyond this door is of unimaginable danger to everything outside it.
The young man smiled in satisfaction, as if all is within his expectations.
¡°They really don¡¯t want this guy escaping huh.¡± He mused as he strode closer, looking for a way to efficiently disarm the locks and open the door.
¡°I guess Father was right. Looking at how much those peasants want him away, he might really be what we¡¯ve been looking for.¡± He smiled to himself, imagining his parents swift delight as they finally found what they¡¯ve been looking for.
Slowly beginning on his work, lest something goes wrong. With swift and practiced movements, the locks slowly disarmed one by one showing his immaculate skills.
As the last lock was removed, taking no pause to put his hands on the lever handle and turning it. The door slowly opened as he brought his free hand to grasp the oil lamp, his only source of light in this dark dungeon. Although whether he needed the light to see in the first place was another matter entirely.
Focusing his golden eyes to peek through the gradually opening door to the room within is a figure of a man. Though to call it a man within its current state was up for debate due to its malnourished physique of skin and bones, let alone the various wounds and dried blood covering the entirety of its body. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
This sight of a walking corpse would surely frighten any other person, but the young man smiled as if all was right in the world. Not paying any heed to the figure within the room¡¯s current appearance, his golden eyes stared straight at the figure¡¯s bright eyes that met his own. Those eyes filled with life even halfway through death¡¯s door seem to glow within the darkness that trapped them. It was overflowing with vigour and willpower as if to spite death, refusing to dim and die.
Seeing the figure¡¯s eyes filled with unwavering willpower, the young man felt satisfied.
¡°Father really picked a great candidate here.¡± The young man smiled once again, happiness clear in his eyes seeing that the person his father chose was just as incredible as he said to be.
Focusing once more on the mission he was given. He reached out his hand down to the figure staring at him all this time, speaking the words he deemed most appropriate for this very situation.
¡°Do you want to live?¡± He spoke with kindness in his voice, knowing this is the best course of action to establish the best first impression he can muster. For he knows, as his father once told him. That this man is chosen to join their family, that this walking corpse of a man is the best candidate for their family¡¯s long-awaited plan.
¡°Do you want to live?¡±
That¡¯s the first this this golden eyed kid spoke after opening the door to this prison I¡¯ve been confined in for who knows how long.
His free hand reaching towards me as if to give me an escape from this hell hole while the other held the only source of light I¡¯ve gazed upon in so long.
I¡¯ve never met this man before, his features where unique enough for me to remember if I did. But that did not stop me from using all the strength I still have to lift up my weakened arm towards that outreached hand.
I made all the effort I can muster to grab onto it, muttering my assent towards his question following a nod of my head before I lost all the strength I have before passing out.
--
I do not know how long it has been since I¡¯ve been unconscious.
As I woke up from the unbelievable amount of exhaustion my body and mind have went through for so long, I did not open my eyes nor moved my body as I feigned sleep.
I do not know where I am, as such I pretended to still sleep as I felt my surroundings before planning my next move. In the meantime, I tried recalling the past events to pick up any clues to what my current situation is and the risks I am in at this moment.
There is a needle stuck to my hand, maybe an IV? That might indicate I¡¯m at a medical facility. The soft bed, clean air and warm lighting I feel through my eyelids at least suggest a good environment, that at least means who ever put me here has no malicious intent towards me.
I deducted as such with the limited information I currently poses, slowly opening my eyes to adjust it to the lighting I¡¯ve been deprived of for a long time. Lifting my body in a sitting position as my eyes focused, I checked my surroundings for any threat or indication of danger as I looked for exit routes should the need arise.
Checking the condition of my body, the wounds have healed and closed, my muscles have atrophied to skin and bones from prolonged inactivity and lack of nutrients but there isn¡¯t any problem with my movements. With this, I should still be able to put up a fight if needed.
*step¡step*
I heard the sounds of footsteps to the direction of the door as a young woman in a maid dress walked in carrying a bowl of soup and a glass of water with a straw began to approach me. Her light brown hair swayed left and right on her shoulders, clear dark brown eyes filled with life and cherry pink lips forming a thin gentle smile.
(Such a cute girl didn¡¯t feel like she should be serving anyone, but rather to be treated and protected as a princess instead of being a maid.)
I had such thoughts as I looked at her approach me, bringing down the sumptuous meal by the table beside my bed. Her movements elegant and concise, not what I would usually associate with placing down a bowl of soul and glass of water along with the exquisite silverware.
As she finished setting up what I would very much like to assume is my food, she faced me and bowed.
¡°I hope you enjoy your meal. The young master will be with you shortly¡± she said in her chipper youthful voice, turning around to walk away from my room as I¡¯m left alone once again.
Seeing as there¡¯s no one around right now, I quickly checked the food left on my table side. I don¡¯t think they¡¯d poison the food since if they wanted to, there would be quicker ways to kill me in my current state. I removed my inhibitions towards either the possibly poisonous soup and gorged down on it, my hunger letting itself known as I inhaled the savoury aroma. The soup was generous with the amount of meat and vegetables, finely cut into small pieces so I wouldn¡¯t even need to chew as it flowed down my throat in heated gulps.
The contents of the bowl quickly drained down my throat as my appetite was insatiable at this stage. Thirsty for a drink as I was, I took off the straw on the glass of water and gulp it down, washing down the soup¡¯s abundant flavours.
It was a truly enjoyable meal, then again after what I¡¯ve been through, anything would be enjoyable at this point. Regardless, that was some mighty fine soup.
I quickly relaxed my tense body as I finished my short meal, quietly contemplating about what to expect next and who this young master is during whatever length of rest I can take advantage of to recover my strength should anything happen.
I sat there on the bed quietly, waiting for this young master the cute maid mentioned for what felt like hours. I thought about leaving quietly while I waited but quickly put that thought to rest as I grew curious of who this person is. Besides I require more information on how I got here in the first place, with my only clue related to the young man with golden eyes whom I saw in that dark dungeon before passing out.
Slowly, the echoing of footsteps reached my ears as the sound draw near. Shortly after I caught sight of the same man I last saw that night before passing out walk to my room. I didn¡¯t notice last time due to the darkness and my weary eyes, but his features cannot be called anything but perfect where even I cannot help but feel envy. His jet black hair, dark as the night sky devoid of the moon and stars, as if to suck the very light away when it draw near it, eyes so golden and brilliant that it seemed illuminate a path within the darkness of the abyss, facial features perfectly symmetrical that even the best actor would feel shame and grow an inferiority complex while causing every woman to wet their nethers as their primal instincts submit in the presence of this apex of a man.
The young man briskly walked over beside my bed, my eyes focused on him the whole time while trying to gain any more information I can from his body language and facial expressions.
As he stood there, just a meter away from where I sat on the bed I can see a satisfied smile on his face as I realise he¡¯s been looking at me the whole time ever since he arrived inside the room.
¡°Hello my good friend, I am ?amil Avitus.¡± He introduced himself in a gentlemanly manner as he rose his hand to me. ¡°I brought you here from the dungeon you were locked up in. This place is within my mansion, feel free to treat it as your own.¡±
Observing him as he finished his introductions, I lifted my arm up to shake his and nod in assent.
¡°Thank you for freeing me.¡± I spoke with a ragged voice, not completely recovered from the long days of dehydration. ¡°May I ask why you did that?¡± I asked in a firm voice, sharpening my senses to observe his response and look for signs of deception.
He smiled guilty in response to my question. ¡°I suppose you have the right to know, we¡¯ll be working together shortly thereafter.¡± He said with confidence, smiling all the way.
I couldn¡¯t help but be puzzled at his response, but I sensed no lies with his words.
¡°What do you mean by ¡®working together¡¯?¡± I couldn¡¯t help but ask, as this would no doubt greatly affect the events that will occur onwards.
¡°My Father has taken quite a liking to you. He¡¯s known about your many achievements in the underworld, along with your unwavering pursuit of strength since your youth. Actually, even I grew up hearing stories about you from my Father.¡±
He then started telling me the story about how his father discovered me after my infamy grew in the underworld that he made some investigations and got intrigued at how far I¡¯ve come to become feared as a boogyman for criminals. About my obsession with getting transported into another world and learning martial arts, academics and searching for magic around the world just to prepare myself in the off-chance I get transported. All because I¡¯ve always been bored of the life here on earth. He said his father got really interested in my unique personality and how normal people wouldn¡¯t go through all that I did because I wanted to have such fantasy filled life devoid of boredom.
Apparently, this ?amil grew up hearing some stories about my adventures and is somewhat of a fan of myself.
I mean, I still want to be in a different world, learning magic and sorcery. Only, as I grew older and got more and more distracted with the enjoyment of swooping in to beat criminals to quell my boredom.
¡°I see.¡± I nod, understanding how they got all the information from me. But that still doesn¡¯t answer my earlier question. ¡°I understand. But what did you mean we¡¯ll be working together?¡±
¡°Ah! Sorry for blabbering on and getting side-tracked there.¡± He cleared his throat to continue. ¡°What I mean is that, my family would like to employ you as my personal bodyguard among other things.¡± He said nervously while looking straight at me.
¡°What do you mean?¡± I got curious and asked such, bodyguard work would be a new thing for me. That will be interesting in its own way, though what else does he want from me? I don¡¯t believe a bodyguard is what he really wants.
He was hesitating on whether to answer my question but quickly resolved to voice what went on his mind.
Clearing his throat to ready himself, he asked me what he truly wanted.
¡°Will you join a special program we¡¯re conducting experiments for?¡±
