《Living in my Own World!》 Idea Chapter - Not a Chapter I''m putting this here for any ideas I have, so comment any ideas you have as well. God Ranks: Sovereign - The highest gods, above even the Overgod Jacob altogether. The leader of them is called the Prime Sovereign, and there is currently no one in that seat. Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.Overgod - Game developer. Doesn''t really watch the worlds, that''s up to the Gods and the Sovereign to watch the entire universes. Gods - Gods of individual galaxies/worlds. Broken up into two parts: Lower God and Higher God. Lower Gods are in charge of individual worlds, so like the God of the Sun, Solus. There are multiple Solus'', one for every world with differentiating personalities. Greater Gods are to watch galaxies and keep those World Gods in check. I may end up making, after a lot more chapters, Kas become the Prime Sovereign after he figures out his identity(?) Information Dump Cliffhanger, sorry. I also would like to ask your opinion on the fight scene, any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated. NOTE: He has met Solus, the Sun God, and the Acting Overgod. An Overgod is the overseer of the gods, so in this case, our developer friend, Jacob, also known as Kas! His memories are returning slowly, and this [Destroy] power is one with many a limitation, unlike the evolved version, [Divine Destruction]. This power is very bad on him, it will use up 99% of his mana no matter what, whereas the [Divine Destruction] will use 45% no matter what. This spell will never be given to Kas until he remembers everything, alongside things like [Divine Creation] and such. He is a bit overpowered, but at the same time, he can''t destroy their organs or something like that. It can only destroy non-soulbound items, like the sword which was only an Ancient-grade Artifact, not soulbound. It was a duplicate of the Divine Artifact of the god of darkness. See, the humans only know that up to Ancient-grade exists, and have never found a god''s duplicate sword. If they had, it would be named a Divine Artifact of a god. So basically; he may be overpowered, but he''s not TOO overpowered yet. He is still, well, able to be injured. But he can''t die, unbeknownst to Solus quite yet. That is because of the Immortality memories he was implanted with, and the memories of how to remove said immortality if he ever felt alone. What do you feel he should be able to do? Be less overpowered or more so? I have a very good idea at the moment, but you''ll have to wait and see to believe it. But here''s current ideas: - leaves school for adventuring guild? - gets big boy house - ladies are very ''back burner'' idea, so don''t worry, no harem or woman to be ''saved.'' That girl from before was just a kind gesture, by the way, not any romance. Maybe a friend? Who knows. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. I''ll be trying to get a Status going, but I have no idea how to make the table not move when I put things. Maybe I do it manually? Here, I''ll try. Name: Kas Ravenwood (Alias: Overgod Jacob) Age: 3 Race: Evolved Human (Concealed as: Human) Class: Universal (Concealed as: Mage and Warrior) HP: Overgod: ¡Þ Current: 100/100,000 (Issues: Mana Deprivation I (Status: No threat) MP: Overgod: ¡Þ Current: 6,400,000/10,000,000 Rank: Current: S Potential: OVERGOD (Celestial), SSS (Fake) Skills: Magic X (Celestial), All Magic (Gifted by: Jacob, SEALED), Combat Expertise VII, Endurance X, Special Magic X (Gifted by: Jacob) That''s my attempt. Basically, the [Destroy] should only do 90%, but due to his massive amount of mana, it did 99% instead, but he is nearly cured now, after 2 hours. Special Magic includes Personal Magic that he has, currently, no knowledge of. I will be showing status at the end of every chapter. I also dislike dealing with numbers stats, being hard to update and stick with, so that''s why I went with Potential instead. His body is also growing in accordance to his power, so he may become a giant soon. Weird how I put 500+ words into an author''s note, but mainly this is an info dump as well, so I''ll put everything I''ve said about stats and such in here now. Adventurer''s Guild + Mercenary''s Guild Ranks: SSS SS S A B C D F E Assasin''s Guild + Merchant''s Guild ranks: Grandmaster Master Adept Advanced Intermediate Journeyman (merchant''s guild is based on your ability to do what is required, includes blacksmiths and such) There''s also a thing I''m thinking of called "Personal Guilds," where people can hire them to do a specific quest without it being government knowledge or something, so like swordsmithing guild, etc. Potential is the ability of someone to perform with magic or with a sword. It describes what they will be able to do in the future, so C can be a decently good mage, A is an expert mage, S is a hero, and such. S and higher are called Hero Ranks. There are very few people in S-class or higher. The Kingdom of Fos is the main kingdom. The population of 60+ million, the world population is 243 million. Magic is used by just thinking it for some, but for others, it requires chanting to help imagine it.45% of the population is able to use magic. 20% of that is able to use magic chantless. 40% of the magical population can use above Level 5 spells, while only 20% can use Level 6, 5% Level 7, 2% Level 8, 1% Level 9, 0.01% Level 10, and only 5 people have ever been able to even start doing Godly magic, and 4 of them died trying, besides Kas now. Prologue If you had told me a day ago or even an hour ago that I would be stabbed and thrown into my world, I would''ve probably called you crazy. And yet, here we are, in some very grassy plains near a town that had some walls on its sides. For this to make sense, I''d have to go back to the beginning, when I was on my way home from the office. My game, Eternity Online, was very successful. Because of this, I had to get an office with employees and such to help me keep it alive and maintained correctly. It wasn''t that I couldn''t do it myself, but I decided that limited stress is the kind of stress I enjoy. You can''t do everything yourself, or so I was told. So here we are, 15 minutes away from the office walking down a very dark alleyway. I wasn''t afraid because I''ve done this route a lot of times, and therefore got less and less scared of it. In hindsight, I should''ve probably gotten a car with all the money that was coming in, but what could you do. As I was listening to music on my phone and walking down this alleyway, I spotted a man not too far away from me, just far enough that touching was impossible. The man just looked up at me and stated, "You better drop all the valuables you have on you or things are gonna get dirty." I stepped back on reflex and began sweating slightly. This had never happened to me before, and I was also alarmed at the thought of dying. I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. "I only have a couple of dollars and my phone on me. Here, take it." I said, tossing my phone on the ground. "I know who you are. Don''t you dare try to lie to me, Jacob Ward. I know you''re the CEO of a massive corporation, you should have more than just a couple dollars on you," the robber said. "I don''t have any more on m-" Before he was even finished speaking, the robber ran up to him and stabbed him in his chest, and, not having time to react, Jacob slumped to the ground immediately. I didn''t even finish my game, I thought while sighing. I closed my eyes in defeat, taking one last look at the sky before taking my last breath. Yet, a few seconds later, he felt the sun on his body, and he was confused once more. When he opened his eyes, he immediately saw a blazing sun beaming its light down onto him, a beautiful grassy plain all around him, and a small lake behind him. He was confused, yet happy. He was wondering if this is what death is like, but then he realized he was a 15-year-old version of himself, which didn''t make much sense, and everything felt so real. Also, the little display in his vision made him think this was similar to his game due to how closely related they looked. He noticed a bar with HP and MP next to them, red and blue respectively, under his name. He realized that these were very similar to what his game looked like, if not the same. Status, I thought. I did this to see if this was my world since there would be a specific thing I would be looking for. When the screen didn''t come, I was confused. Then, a prompt came up. NOTICE: You currently do not have access to this feature. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.Requirements: - Skill[Status] I stared at the prompt blankly. I never made the status screen a skill, but maybe it was a good idea. I decided to try the backdoor that I implemented because of distrust in the office. I had given many people administrator privileges in the game, so I had to make sure that I could revert it whenever. AdminPanel, I thought. In my world, most of the actions which are not related to magic are done through the mind. NOTICE: You must enter the admin password. Username Jacob, password JacobIsUrBoss13!!#$. NOTICE: Welcome, Jacob. Command line has been prepared for use, user rank is Super Administrator. I chuckled at my password, knowing that everyone at the office would groan at it if they saw it. I had made the command line instead of a panel because it was easier for me to use, and I found it a lot more fun than just a panel with buttons. Proceeding to open the command line, I began typing commands. > debug.testmode 100 Entity.ELDER_DRAGON 10 > notificationmodecommandline Debug has been enabled, you are now level 100 with the statistics of an Elder Dragon, with a multiplier of 10. Notifications have been limited to command line and will show up as messages only. I did the first command just to test that I could do it, and sure enough, I did. The latter was just to make sure it wasn''tgoing to hinder me on battles or anything like that. I didn''t really want to be too over the top, so I decided to change myself to an above average level, but still good. > debug.setrank 45 > debug.statmultiplier 5 > debug.give ITEM_MONEYBAG{amount = 1000000} > debug.affinity = ALL These commands would set my rank to 45, make my statistics like intelligence and luck 5 times higher than a normal person''s, give me E$1,000,000, equivalent to almost 1 billion USD and finally give me every magical affinity. Intelligence and Wisdom are the main things needed to be a Mage. I also decided to getevery skill, too. > skills.grant Jacob * 10 At this point, I decided that no one could kill me and that would be no fun. So, to make things more interesting, I decided to wipe my memory and only keep a select few that could help me in fights, and also, to make the skills come gradually by leveling and such. To do this, I had to set a name for every memory and keep it. I also decided to make it so that I am immortal and can grant immortality too, and that would be a kept memory. To do this, I had to change bodies. Looking at the sky, I knew that this would be a fun adventure, especially since I can be evolved into a God at some point to help some people. With my final goodbyegiven tothe world, I kept the memory of immortality skills, the world map, the AI and how to use it and finally about most if not all spellsif I had at least a tiny bit of knowledge on them. > user.switchbodiesKEEPMEMORIES=IMMORTALITY,MAP,AXIOM,SPELLS RACE=EVOLVED_HUMAN CLASS=UNIVERSAL BODYQUALITY=GODLY STATS=GOOD MULTIPLIER=3AGE=2Y ACCESS=1 With my preferred body set, all I had to do now was enter the command and I would be forgetting mostly everything, and it would only come back when I truly needed it. My Evolved Human race allowed my new body to handle the power it would be getting and would have a lot of mana. My body would have 3x the normal speed of leveling and statistic increases. In general, it would be easier to live, and easier to protect the family that I will have, The access to the admin panel, if I ever figure it out again, is pretty limited, but there is a way to get back to Super Administrator if I need to remember it. I''ve also given the AI instructions that will bring that certain memory back if I am ever in critical condition without a chance to live. Hopefully, I won''t be needing it. I want a challenge, but I don''t want death. With that, I entered the command and everything went black. Chapter 1 I woke up about 10 minutes ago, feeling dizzy and nauseous. I don''t know why, but I can feel some memories grasping at me to come back, but whenever I try to grab them, they elude my grasp. Such is life, I guess. After another 20 minutes, my nausea subsides and I start to stand when I hear a voice in my head. Hello, User. I am the user assistant, AXIOM. You may already know about me because of your very few kept memories. As you have requested me to assist you, I will help you along your journey so do ask me any questions you may have. I stared blankly into the open air. There was nothing to stare at but there was a random voice inside my head, but instantly I remembered who it was from a random memory. AXIOM, the user assistant that was created to answer any queries about anything in this world. I sighed, not knowing what is happening or where I am. I was obviously in a house, however. The roof looked wooden, and, taking a random guess, it was my parents'' house. A young girl walked into the room in a maid outfit, then turned her head to look at me. Her eyes went wide as she ran out of the room screaming something I didn''t understand. > Skill acquired, "Universal Language" What is this? I thought to myself, a hundred times more confused than before. I decided to shrug it off, but realized immediately that I''m a very tiny person. I started crying for some reason, even though that''s not even close to what I wanted to do. While crying, I decided to observe my surroundings and put everything together. Okay so, I''m very tiny, I cry a lot apparently, and this is a random house that I''ve never seen before. I seem to be very small, so I''d guess that I''m pretty young, but not too young. I don''t even know how I''m speaking to myself, but I guess I''ll figure it out later. For now, I need to find something to do. You could always try to increase your power. Power can be increased in a multitude of ways. The main way people do it is by clearing dungeons, but I understand that a child shouldn''t be doing that quite yet. For now, attempt to learn more about your surroundings. Again, I was confused and scared that there was something in my head. I was less scared than before because of the memory of what this specific... thing is, but I still didn''t know what it was or how to use it.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it. I can answer any question you give me, except for a select few things which I cannot tell you. Other than that, I have everything else. So before, you asked me to learn more about my environment. Does that mean ask you? I asked while still worried about whether or not I''ll ever be alone. You can ask me anything, or you can learn on your own. Also, if you ask me to ''shut down'' I can do so easily, with a similar ''start AXIOM'' command. You can do commands by just thinking them. Wait, if I can ask you anything, then why am I missing a majority of memories? I can feel the memories, I just can''t access them. I cannot answer your question in specific detail, however, your memories were taken by yourself, in order to ''live a good life.'' If you knew about the things in those memories, you would only erase your memory yet again. Scratching my head, I sighed internally as my crying finally came to a stop as a woman walked into what I assume is my room. The woman looked down at me with caring and kind eyes, and I assumed at that point she was my mother or someone close to it. Then, she started crying for some reason. "I thought you were going to die, Kas!" she said as she hugged me tightly, to the point where breathing was just impossible. Confused, I stare at her with a tilted head. The woman didn''t even react to my confused face! "M-mama?" I said to try to get her attention. I was never good at baby impressions, so I might just stop them soon and talk normally, even if the shock is too great for her. "Y-you can speak? But you also don''t remember me?" She smiled weakly, obviously wanting to cry even more because I didn''t recognize her. The questioning tone in my voice probably gave it away. "Yes, I am your mother. I guess memory loss is a small price to pay for you surviving." She looked a bit hurt, but other than that she was hopefully fine. Sighing, I decided to drop the act because I wanted to talk to my mother like a normal person. The memories I kept should help me survive but I do want to know where I am and what I''m doing here from my own parents. "Sorry, what? Can you please explain where I am and what''s going on?" I asked, preparing for the biggest gasp of a lifetime. Spoiler alert: it was the longest gasp of all time. "H-how can you speak so fluently? What happened to my child?!" She asked rhetorically. I can only hope whoever else lived here wasn''t woken up if they were sleeping, but I can bet they were. "I just can for some reason. My only memories are on this language and some other random stuff." Obviously, I couldn''t tell her about my ability to know every language and the user assistant, so I didn''t. I decided to just try to get some other information instead. "I-I... A genius child?" She said shakily. Sighing, she continued, still shaky, "Okay, so, this is the Kingdom of Fos, and you live in an ex-noble family, the Ravenwoods. This world is called Terra, and it has magic and such." Quite obviously shaking with excitement and also fear, she explained some other basics, while leaving the rest to the teachers. She told me about an academy of magic, academy for knights, and the guild. I was told about the basics of the world, the kingdoms she knew of, and everyone that I should know. In the end, I learned a lot from my mother. One day I''ll help them somehow, too. One day. Chapter 2 I walked out of my bland room, a smile plastered on my face. As I walked out of my room into a long hallway, I was greeted by the same maid as earlier. I looked towards her, her face one of a little bit of fear. I could understand that, because who would think that a child that is two years old could speak fluently? Sighing, I walked up to her. However she may feel, I need to let her know I mean no harm to her or the family. I''m just an ordinary guy, after all. "Hey. I know it may seem weird that a two-year-old is talking fluently, but I assure you that I don''t even know what''s going on myself," I said with a wry smile. I didn''t want her to think I was a demon or something like that who invaded a small child''s body. "I know. It''s just a bit surreal to me. I''m sorry, it''ll be a while before I can get the hang of it," the maid replied. With a little bit of weight off my shoulders, I walked away with a nod. My only goal at this point is to explore the world around me, and in particular, my current dwelling. The walls and floor around me were similar to my bland little room''s, with walls that were created out of stone and wood, and the floor was a spotless wooden floor. I couldn''t tell if this was a rich house or if it was a rather poor house because I''ve never seen a noble''s house. The information I gathered from my mother yesterday included nobility, guild ranks, and magic ''ranks,'' if you will. Nobility is split up into parts; baronet, baron, viscount, earl, marquis, duke, and then the royalty, prince, princess, king and the queen. Alongside that, the king and queen have their advisers, which are always at the Duke rank or just barely below it, however, they are above the Duke rank, yet below the prince. Needless to say, they''re powerful people. The guild ranks are pretty basic, from SSS to E, they are SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, F, E. SSS is the highest rank possible. Magic ''ranks'' are very similar, and your entire strength is based upon letters, F-SSS. If you are SSS, then your potential in the future is further than even some gods. People have to go to the church to find out their ranks, but most people call the ranks their ''Potential.'' F potential is the potential to be a farmer or even less than that. Most of these people don''t amount to much, however, some people went even further than their F potential. Some people have become S potential from being an F. The string of fate remains unknown on how they work. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Everyone is granted their potential at the tender age of 5. Being two years old, I was giddy, and at the same time, impatient. Couldn''t I have been at the very least 4 years old? At that exact time, a thought occurred to me. Couldn''t I just ask my user assistant if they could tell me my potential? You never know until you try. I can indeed measure your potential. I tripped on absolutely nothing because of the user assistant''s intrusion. I forgot that it could read my mind. I also haven''t even thought of a name for it or even the gender of it. I don''t have a gender, but, according to your memories, you''d prefer a female. I stood up from the wooden floors and shook my head, hoping for some restrictions from my mind in the future. Would she watch as I- no, we''re not going there. I put my hand on my chin as I looked at the roof for whatever inspirational wisdom it could offer. A few more minutes of roof-praising later, I finally chose Ruby and I thanked the roof for its non-existent service. I still wondered what my potential is. I''ve calculated your potential. You have SSS potential. With a gasp, I, once more, fell to the floor and cried of joy. I could do almost anything now! I could protect the ones I loved! I could not contain my joy for a brief period of time, so the maid came over and tried asking what was wrong, but I didn''t answer because of my pure joy. After about an hour, I got up and continued walking around. I was admiring the house I lived in, and personally, I think it looked pretty good. Maybe not as good as a Viscount or Earl''s house, but it was good nonetheless. After a bit more walking, I came across a fairly large door. My house wasn''t enough to be a mansion, but it was close enough, so I was happy to live where I was living. I opened the wooden door with a push, and found a fairly old-looking man in a chair by a desk, writing into a ''journal'' of sorts. He turned around and looked at me, and looked somewhat confused. "Kas?" "Hello, and who are you?" This startled him, and he looked like he saw a ghost or something. "Since when can you talk this fluently?! Who stole my boy?" "I''ve no idea myself, but I''d assume you''re my father then?" "I... what? Who are you?!" "Listen, I woke up here and I have no idea myself. I''ve already talked to Mother." "You did? Fine, what do you need?" "I was just exploring the area." "Exploring the area, eh?" "I mean, I did just wake up and have no memories whatsoever." "Yeah, okay. My name is Robert Ravenwood, your father," he said with a hesitant look on his face. Understandable, really. "So, what I really want to know is if you can teach me magic?" I asked with a smile. I haven''t learned much magic, but due to the fact I have a SSS potential, I should be okay, right? "Yeah, possibly. I never was good at magic, my potential being D and all. Having said that, do you know your potential?" "I do, and I can say I''m able to learn." "What''s your potential?" "I, uh..." "Come on, spit it out!" "It''s SSS!" The room went very silent. Chapter 3 With my secret out to my father, I stare at the ground. Will they throw me out? Will they send me to the military? I was scared. "So you''re saying... the second SSS potential, which, by the way, will eventually evolve into a Divine Being, is my son? Is that what you''re saying?" "I- uh..." I didn''t know what to say. Other than the fact that he is a giant of a man, maybe even at 7''2" or so, he''s also my father, the person who could kick me out at any time. But when I looked up, he was crying? "I''m so happy that my son is going to be one of the strongest people alive!" Not just crying, he was full-on bawling his eyes out! "Calm down! Please, just calm down," I said, almost begging him at this point. "I''m just so happy for you!" He was hopeless, wasn''t he? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Around 20 minutes later, the hulk of a man finally stopped crying and stood up to look at me. I was probably up to his stomach, so I was pretty intimidated. "You know what this means, right?" My father asked me. I didn''t even know his name and he was crying for me. "No, what does it mean?" I asked timidly. A silence before he spoke again. "It means... you need to go to the academy early. It means you need to learn how to control your immense power before you get yourself killed. Do you understand?" I looked up at him, and with that, I was frightened. Not only did he say that I could get myself killed with my power, but he also said something about an academy? I let out a deep sigh before answering him. "So, firstly, what is an academy? And second, get myself killed?" "Yeah, I forgot you are a child. An academy is a place to learn or study in a specific field. This academy is studying the field of magic and swordsmanship. It''s a place where you can go to learn how to control your magic. Magic is a good asset, however, it is also a downfall for me. If you let your magic go out of control, you may end up becoming a demon. A demon like you is one that can destroy the entire world after a few days. So, please, control your magic. I enjoy this world." I was a bit scared. I never realized how powerful SSS potential was, but I guess now I know. Once again, I sighed deeply and nodded. "Good. Get some rest, you''ll need it. I''ll be bringing you to the academy in about 6 weeks," he stated before walking away. I didn''t know why he wanted me to get rest for something that''s in 6 weeks, but tomorrow morning, I quickly realized why. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next morning, I was put through intense magic control training. My father, who I now know is known as Rufford Ravenwood, asked me to try to put my ''aura'' back inside of my body. This, apparently, could help me also hide my presence. After around an hour, I got the hang of it. Aura is used to see how strong one is, and what their intent is. If you hide your presence, you can also learn how to change your presence. Only a very small number of people have learned how to do this because of the difficulty of it. Groaning from exhaustion, I walked from the beautiful backyard. Our backyard didn''t have much besides a small training area, which my older brother Peter used before he was taken to the front lines. The only thing that was worth mentioning in my backyard was a large tree. I didn''t know the specific type of tree it was, but it was a beautiful tree nonetheless. Finishing admiring the tree, I looked towards the gray sky. It seemed like it was going to rain. I never had any issues with rain. I enjoyed it, the small drops of water that falls onto you with a splash. It was mesmerizing, and that''s where I did most of my thinking for the last few days. With that, I went back inside and went to bed. With so much on my mind, it took me a while to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I woke up to my father, for whatever reason, poking me in the back. I looked at him with a questioning look on my face. He didn''t respond, he only said to get the uniform on and to follow him. Getting up, I grabbed the clothes already laid out for me. It''s been 6 weeks, and that means that it''s time to go to the academy. Following him, he led me outside to a carriage. It was what I''d consider pretty luxurious. I''d guess that he still had some ''noble money'' left over, so that''s how he paid for everything. The carriage was black and the inside had red seats and a dark floor. There was no horse in the front, only a man that was using magic to carry it around. It looked pretty average from other carriages I''ve seen. Hell, at one time I saw a golden carriage with actual men carrying the 4 people inside. I felt bad for them inside. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. I got inside the magical carriage and only then realized how comfy those seats were. The academy that I was going to be studying at was called the Academy of Solus, after the Sun God. I was told that there are x main gods; Solus, Luna, Lux, Tenebris, Ventus, Terra, Unda and Ignis. Solus is the Sun God, the so-called ''creator.'' Lux is the god of Light. Tenebris is the god of darkness and he helps the so-called "goddess of destruction," Luna. Ventus is the Wind God, Terra is the Earth God, Unda is the God of Water and finally, Ignis is the God of Fire. Every god has their opposite, for example, light and darkness, water and fire, earth and wind. These opposites are able to hurt each other very badly and, in wars, there are always opposites in the field just to deflect the others'' attacks. After about an hour, we reached the Academy. It was fairly large, red, and had windows all over the place. It wasn''t just one building, however, it was multiple. For example, the training center was in another building, with all classes in one, all the dorms in three separate buildings. The three dorms were for staff, male and female dorms. We were supposed to head over to the reception area first. I wonder how everyone will react to a 2-year-old in the building. But I was a pretty tall 2-year-old. I was around 4''2", so I was fairly tall. "Why''s a kid here?" Someone said. I didn''t respond because I didn''t get aggravated that easily. I headed into the reception building and went up to the desk. "Hello there, what is your name?" The receptionist asked politely, smiling. "Hello, my name is Kas Ravenwood," I responded in the same manner as her. "Kas... Kas... Found you! Okay, ye- TWO YEARS OLD?!!?" My smile changed to a wry one, grimacing, too. "Uh, yes, I am indeed two years old." She calmed down before responding. "I am sorry for my outburst, but the youngest student to attend was 4 years old, and he had an S potential. That must mean you''re better than him?" I grimaced a bit more. "I- uh... Yeah, yeah I am." I wasn''t really scared of sharing this information. The worst that could happen is an assassin coming for me, and over the past few weeks, even that wouldn''t help unless they had an SS potential or was an SSS ranked from the Assassin''s Guild. Also, there are multiple guilds. There''s the Assassin''s Guild, the Merchant''s Guild, the Adventurer''s Guild and then the Mercenary Guild. The Assassin''s Guild is a very secretive guild. They are used to murder someone else, either important or not. They have only failed two missions, one on the SS potential King, and one on the other SSS ranked Hero. The Merchant''s Guild is not as secretive but is used to do trade among people and sell products. Their ranks are Apprentice to Grandmaster, so they''re pretty different. The Assassin''s Guild uses the same ranking system as the Merchant''s Guild. The Mercenary''s Guild is only a little bit different from the Adventurer''s Guild; they will do almost any job for money. They''re considered the money whores of society, whatever that means. My goal is to get into the Adventurer''s Guild at one point, and become an SSS-ranked adventurer! I''ve heard that they take on the worst kind of jobs, from the dragon-slaying ones to the Primordial-class slaying kind. Monsters are in different groups in every country, but I like this one better: Basic-class, the lowest monsters. They can''t do much to cities but can kill low-ranked adventurers or villagers. Intermediate-class are more of a threat, and they can cause havoc to entire villages, but mostly small or undeveloped villages. Advanced-class monsters are one of the hardest ones to kill, causing havoc to most cities and towns. Divine-class monsters can destroy an entire city or mountains with ease, so they are taken care of with caution, and only S-ranked adventurers can even come near them. Now, Ancient-class is an entirely different story. There have only been two spotted in history; Demon Lord Zen, and Dragon God Eldror, who both could destroy the world. They are still talked about to this day. Noticing I spaced out, I looked back up to the seemingly annoyed receptionist, and I scratched my head. "Sorry, what did you say?" I asked as politely as I could. "Your room number is 23, please keep this key safe or pay a penalty for losing it. Have a good day," she said before shooing me away. I walked towards the male dorms with some magical theories lingering in my mind. Some memories have come back, like programming and the basics of the world of whoever gave me these memories used to live in. With a sigh, I walked through the very long hallway to find room 23. "23? No that''s 22... Wait, how is that number 24? What the hell is going on?!?!" It took me a while to find number 23. I swear, this is ridiculous. Whoever designed this place should be fired. When I walked into my door, I found it was empty, with 2 bunk beds and 4 desks. It was a spacious room, and I particularly enjoyed it. The walls were made out of the same material as my own house, but looked somehow cleaner? I''d say a lot of magic was used. The floors were much better, some sort of weird white material I''ve never seen before. From my memories, I tried to figure it out, but that was a no-go. Besides the basics and programming, I decided to see if I could learn a few spells. I mashed light into a circular shape, and named it Light Bulb, with strength 5. I had tried this earlier and it seemed to work. Apparently, all you had to do was register a name to a spell and you could just say it in your head and it would work. It was really cool. > Skill "Magic Manipulation X" acquired. > Skill "Special Manipulation X" acquired. > Skill "Magic Control VIII" acquired. > Skill "Learning X" acquired. With that, a couple more joined them, such as Null Magic, Earth Magic, Water Magic, Wind Magic, Fire Magic, Water Magic, Divine Magic, Chaos Magic, and more. I was beyond confused. I was told people could only withstand one singular affinity, but I had all of them?!?! Lying down in my bed, I shut my eyes with a throbbing headache, and I went to sleep. Chapter 4 - School Life (Part 1) I woke up to a door being opened. I didn''t feel that good, because I never feel good when I have a nap. I looked at the well-built man with curiosity filling me. "Oh, hello, who are you?" I asked, my head tilted to the right. "You''re one of three other roommates I suppose? Okay, my name is Chad Greenman of the Marquis Greenman family, and you?" "I''m Kas Ravenwood, 2 years old." I was having fun with it at this point. "T-two? Ravenwood? An exiled noble family? Oh wow. Your family was an Earl family at one point, right? And also, how did you even get into the academy? Do you not need to be at least 5 years old?" The noble asked these questions in less than 5 seconds. He was speaking so fast, I couldn''t even keep up. My underdeveloped brain! "Okay, firstly, calm down, secondly, yes, Ravenwood. Third, I do not know how I got in, I was just accepted by the Headmaster." "I see. Wait, the Headmaster? Not any of the Recruiters?" In this Academy, the students are chosen by the Recruiters, a group of staff that accept students in or not. The Headmaster is one of them but he is also the Head Recruiter, and everyone who was accepted by him grew up to be one of the greatest adventurers of all time. People say he has a Magical Eye, others say he is just good at telling talented people from untalented. Magical Eyes are very sought after in this world, from the Magical Eyes of Talent to the Magical Eyes of True Sight. The Talent eye can see talent in every person and sees their potential in colors. True Sight eyes can see people who are invisible, and the only counter is a Level 7 spell known as "True Stealth," which hides the caster and the people touching the caster as well as muffling any sound and removing any trace of themselves. The only counter to that is an All-Seeing Barrier, which can sense when someone enters it no matter what. My father told me to take a look at the library 3 weeks into training, so I did. Man is there a lot of good things there. "Yeah, that''s right." "Wait, THE HEADMASTER?!" The seemingly calm-looking man was not calm, after all. "Yes, the Headmaster," I replied for the umpteenth time. "Okay, fine. School''s starting tomorrow, by the way. You missed the assembly." Now it was my turn to be not calm. "I WHAT?!" I didn''t even realize there was an assembly. And I slept through it?! Why didn''t the receptionist tell me? Well, to be honest, probably just to get rid of me. With a sigh, I looked back at the man. I stepped from my bed with a yawn. "Ugh, oh well. It doesn''t matter much." "We''ll be getting our schedule soon, too." As if on time, a noise could be heard all throughout the dorms, a sound of metal meeting something softer. I noticed a small crack in the roof, and I heard the ''softer item'' coming into that, so I just waited. Then it came down, the piece of paper came from the little crack in the roof.Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. Can you imagine? Sighing, I put it in my bag that I brought from home. It was a fairly large bag, not big yet not small. I put most of the books I need in my bag and then lifted it with Wind Magic, Levitate which I created. I added a condition so that it follows me, too, and I also put a barrier around my bag, for security. It was a basic alarm system so that if someone was stealing something I would find out easily. "8 periods, huh," Chad said with a sigh. "Let''s do our best, I''ll be aiming for the top!" "I will too! Also, weren''t we supposed to have more roommates?" I questioned the 2 bunk beds since we most likely only needed 2 normal beds. "I think so, but I guess not. I don''t know, maybe I''ll ask later." I nodded and went out to explore the academy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I saw quite a few people outside of the ''Cafeteria'' building. I decided to walk over to see what the commotion was all about, but I had already guessed what it was. They were all circling two dudes who seemed like they were fighting. Wanting to show off a little, I intervened. "Hey, musclebrains. Lay off the fighting would ya?" "What did you say, twerp?! I''ll beat your tiny brain out of your head!" One of the fighters said. For whatever reason, he aimed a punch at my head. I just caught it without flinching, which was apparently a bad idea. Once more, the instigator tried to punch me, and I caught his other fist. With little effort, I threw him over by the fountain out front. The cafeteria was similar to the main building, except for the words ''Cafeteria'' out front, and the fact that it is very small in comparison. "D-did he just take down a person with S potential?!" A random bystander said. I flinched at that. Did I accidentally show off too much? Wincing, I walked away while everyone was still frozen. With that, I turned around and ran for my dorm again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In my spacious room, I was practicing and learning some magic. Over the past few hours, I''ve been trying to make as many spells as possible in preparation for the Practical Exam that was going to happen on the first day. The Practical Exam was an exam that tests a persons ability and potential. At the same time, I was trying to find a way to conceal my true potential, but I had no such luck doing so. With yet another sigh, my fifth one today or more, I learned about Flying Tornado, a version of Wind Tornado that made a tornado in mid-air, to help with any airborne enemies. I also learned about Time Magic, a Special Magic that could reverse, accelerate, or stop time altogether, and alongside its brother Space Magic, I learned how to make a Spatial Holding Bag. The Spatial Holding Bag was a Divine-grade item, and better bags, such as mine, were Ancient-grade Artifacts. I shuddered at my own ability. I had a pretty successful day, and Chad was still somewhere else, but nonetheless, I decided to halt my practice for the day and get an early rest for tomorrow''s classes. Chapter 5 - School Life (Part 2) I woke up with a start due to very loud noises. I looked towards the deafening sound''s origin and spotted a white circle on the wall. I had no idea what this was, but I suppose that in time I would begin to understand more. To my right, I saw that Chad was already up and at his desk, writing something. He finished just as I had looked over to see what it was, folded it into an envelope, and sent it into the crack in the ceiling. I would''ve guessed that it was a letter to someone. "Hey, you ready to go?" The magician asked me and I replied with a nod of my head. "Yeah, let''s get going. What do you have first?" I asked curiously. I didn''t know whether the schedules were the same or not, so I had to find out this way. "Oh, I have Science first, Spellcasting second, Break, Alchemy and Runes, Mathematics, World History, Lunch, Magical Control and Self-Improvement, World Basics and then Physical Education," he replied, "and all of my classes are one hour long. You?" "Same thing here, except my class length varies; the magical ones like control are longer than the non-magical ones like history and physical education." "Wow, special treatment huh?" Hitting me in the shoulder, we made our way towards Science. Our schedule is static on every day we have classes; no changes no matter the day. In a giant academy like this one, it was pretty easy to get lost if you''re not with the others. Can you guess what happened to us? Yeah, we got lost. Do you need directions? Ruby asked. I forgot she was even here, so I got a bit startled. I''m never getting used to that. Uh, yeah, directions would be nice. After requiring her to slow down her speaking several times, we made it to our class on time, barely. "Before we begin, my name is Professor Hank, and I am a retired Arch Mage. For those of you that don''t know, anyone with a potential of S or higher is considered an Arch Mage if they have also contributed to the country, say, in the Adventurer''s Guild," everyone let out a gasp and had many questions, like "can you kill a Demon Bear?" and "what is your secret?" but he shushed them down before speaking again, "We''re going to start now, so please listen." He waited a minute for everyone to calm down, and then continued. "Okay class, take out your textbook and go to page 5. We''ll be talking about the basics of science. In this world, we don''t use biology or stuff like that much because a lot of the time we have Magic to do that for us. But some people grow up to pursue the art of science and physics and forsake magic. But of course, science is interesting and so is magic, and that''s why we''re trying to find a way to use science to help us in our magical field. There are around a hundred million scientists around the world, working on several projects like how space and time function, what it is like outside of planets, etc, etc. We work on several things, like finding out the inner workings of our sun, the biology of a frog, you name it, we can do it with science. However, science, unlike magic, has a lot of limitations because of physics. We can''t throw things at walls with our minds, now can we? No, we use magic for things like that, and that is why Magical Science is taken in your next year, and not right now." He continued rambling on, supposedly trying to make both of them seem like good fits for jobs and all that, talking about what we''re going to do in the next few classes and such. Our first unit was apparently on space and how we, as humans, function. It''s a very interesting topic. After an hour, class ended and we moved over to our next class. "Alright, I hope you learned a few things today, and I''ll see you tomorrow," the professor said, waving happily. I moved over to Spellcasting pretty fast. It was the same thing as last class, introduction as Professor Reid, what we''ll be doing, and the starting of the unit. In Spellcasting, we had to make a spell that could light up an area. I guessed this was for him to see what everyone''s capable of and what he needs to work on them with. A girl who had dark-like skin and a decent figure had trouble with this, like many others. She had so much magic that she couldn''t control it. I overheard her whisper that she had an A potential to the professor when he asked. If A''s are that good, then that S guy must be amazing. Shrugging the thought off, I easily created a light with a perfect circle and the light source inside of the said circle. The light I created was almost blinding, so I tried removing mana from the light, and it dimmed greatly. Professor Reid walked over to me and clapped. "Aura hidden, excellent control, and good execution. Well done, I applaud you. However, I can still see many errors in your spellcasting; providing an over-the-top amount of mana to the light, significant lack of imagination, and a few other minor errors. Of course, I can tell that you have a very high potential rank, so that is just how it will be for a while. Please try to limit your mana input, or you may die," Professor Reid warned casually. I looked at him and nodded. I did see that I lost a tiny amount of mana, so I didn''t know what the big deal was, but I nodded anyway. After processing everyone''s capabilities, he clapped, signaling everyone to stop their spells. I obliged and listened intently. I also saw that Chad did a really good job on his light, so I decided to pat him on the back for his efforts later. "First things first; always control the amount of mana you input into your spell. Put too much, and you may lose your life, but too little, and it won''t do what you asked. Magic is very complicated this way, you see. The more mana your put in your spell, the stronger it will be. Too strong, and you may suffer from magic deprivation, the effects of this are simple; you die, or you lose your ability to use magic for a while, if not forever," he said in a dark tone. He wasn''t wrong, after all, I had asked Ruby about this during my training. She said that if you get to no mana, you will die. If you get to very little mana, you will suffer for weeks. "Spells are cast with four main things; intent, element, shape, and mana. Combining spells create more advanced spells that cost much more than they did previously. Your intent is your imagination, what it will look like and what it will do to the target when it lands. Mostly, people cannot set their intent because of how much it requires to do so. So, they are things called spellbooks, where you can learn spells with ease. Spellbooks come in ranks, and so do spells themselves; Level 1, the weakest, and Level 10, the strongest. Most people can only use up to Level 7, and even then, a genius or someone with high potential is needed to do even that. So, most people can only do Level 4 or 5, if that. There are even people who cannot use magic at all, we call them Regulars. Regulars are normal people, who can only use the most basic Level 1 spells because of their very low amount of mana."If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. He took a sip of water and then continued. "We have only ever had two SSS humans born. One turned into a demon, and the other turned into a hero. The demon had tried casting a spell that was a Level 10 spell and failed because of his lack of sanity that was dwindling when he got the spell book for this Level 10 spell. The spell was named "Dragon''s Rage," one of the strongest non-Godly spells out there. Godly spells are spells that surpass Level 10, and usually can only be used by gods. I say usually because the person that defeated this demon was Hero Edmund, and he used a Godly spell named "Divine Judgment," which, if the person is labeled ''evil'' by the gods, will be struck down and sent to hell." He paused again and took another sip. "But of course, a Godly spell is nothing to scoff at. It killed our Hero in the process because he was not strong enough to wield the pure force of Divine Mana, which you will learn about in Magical Control and Self-Improvement. Anyway, continuing with this story, this Hero was of godly descent, when a human found a god and had a child with him. They were in love, and they lived happily ever after until his mother died. When his mother died, his father went on a rampage, trying to kill the King of the Gods and the Sun God, Solus. He failed and was exiled and murdered." "Getting back on track, an element is what you use to create your magic with. Examples include fire magic, chaos magic, and light magic. All of these have their opposites, for example, fire magic is the opposite of water magic. Each opposite is able to damage the other severely, but usually, are able to be counted by the same magic, so the one with the most mana in that fight wins." Again, he took another sip. "There is certain magic that falls under the category of ''Personal Magic.'' This magic is given only to one specific person, and are usually things like ''Teleport'' at long distances and such. Some people have the same personal magic, but it is very rare to have another''s personal magic, let alone personal magic itself. With spellcasting, you can use it to give you an advantage in a fight, outside, or in bed," at that, the students turned a bit red, seeing how some of them were children, "There has never been someone will more than three personal magic spells, and if there ever is, they will be the strongest personal alive." "No one can use an element they haven''t been given. It won''t work. Many people have dual magic, very little have three magic affinities, but even fewer people have four or more." The class went on for some more time, talking about other magic and things like that. He liked to ramble off, so when the bell rang, I was quite sad because I was very interested. We had our break, with nothing much going on, so I just went to the next class early. I was very intrigued by this world, so I wanted to learn more. I stepped into the same room as all the others, a wooden floor, wooden and stone walls, and a wooden ceiling. Looking at the professor writing things on the board, I looked at it curiously. "Miss?" I asked timidly. I wasn''t very afraid, I was just worried she was going to be angry at me for coming early or something. I looked at the seemingly young lady in front of me at the chalkboard, and I walked forward and sat into one of the wooden desks. "Hm? This is rather rare. A student coming in early? Hasn''t happened in centuries!" The young-looking woman exclaimed, turning around the look at me, "Hello, I am Professor White, the teacher for your Alchemy and Runes class, and who are you?" "Oh, uh, my name is Kas Ravenwood, a first-year student. Nice to meet you. I came in early to get learn more because I was interested in this subject. What are runes and what do they do?" I already knew what alchemy was from my father, but I had no clue about runes. I could answer for you. Ruby said, startling me once more before I answered. No, I want to learn it from her. I said apologetically. "Runes are a way to engrave spells or effects into an object, like engraving ''Poison'' onto a rock." I nodded and she continued. "Runes work together with enchanting. They are very similar to each other and are used for nearly the same purposes. Enchantments are used to add effects onto your clothing, tools, or anything like that, and runes are used to do something similar but on objects like rocks." She paused, thinking. "To do a rune, you must write the formula onto a piece of paper, and then add mana into it. For example, you add Wind element and put the symbol on a rock, with your mana giving it instructions to float, and then boom, it levitates until it doesn''t have any mana. Enchantments do almost the same thing, but onto armor and tools. Like wind and fire onto a sword, and it can burn things with a button. Understand?" "Yes I do, thank you," I said politely. "I must finish this rune now, but you can watch." And so I watched, I sat there until the class started and ended with nearly the same lesson but in more detail. The rune erased the board automatically after 1 hour of no use and can be disabled on command. The next class arrived, mathematics, and we did basic things like addition and multiplication, which I learned from father as well as the training he gave me. The teacher of that class was Professor Bluerose, an expert at mathematics. After about 30 minutes, we left the mathematics class, Professor Bluerose waving goodbye, and then world history came and went as well. In that class, the professor, named Professor Diamond, taught us about how they think the world was formed, stories and struggles of our past and things like that. After that, we went to the cafeteria and I found Chad in a corner table. I walked over and sat down with him. The cafeteria was similar to the classes but had the same white material on the floor. I asked Ruby and she said it was marble. "So, how are you liking it?" I asked Chad, my head resting on my chin, "I thought it was pretty interesting." "Yeah, it''s very interesting. I like the classes and the teachers, so I''m just processing everything at the moment," he replied with a hint of excitement in his voice, "In particular, I thought runes and enchantments were cool." "I agree, it''s really cool what you can do if you''re strong enough. Also, I saw your performance in Spellcasting, good job. I''m so proud." I faked a cry and he groaned. "You''re sounding like my mother," he said before digging into his meal. I went over and got a sandwich, just like Chad and came back. We ate in silence and, after the bell rang, we went to our next class. The sixth period was a bit of self-improvement, as the name states. We were just practicing our control, and she was telling us what to improve with our control. I thought Professor Hazel was very helpful and I managed to fix most of the errors in my magic with just that one class. She also said that potential is able to be improved, but it is very rare, as only one person in the entire world had ever been able to do it. This person went from D to SS in a year and went on to become a great adventurer. This hero also killed an Elder Dragon as well. He died, however, due to the injuries the dragon gave him. After finishing the class and being confident with myself on my improvement, I went to World Basics, where they said that we''ll be learning the basics of the world, like the kingdoms, kings, and such. Also, we will apparently be learning the language better; doing spelling and other basics, taught by Professor Gray But in the final class, we suffered, a lot. By suffering, I mean we had to do some of the most excruciating exercises in existence. I felt like my muscles were going to die. The gym was not small at all and it had a decent floor for these activities, with the normal walls and roof as always, with lights hanging from the roof. I really think that Professor Jane had a hatred deep inside of himself for us. Exhausted, I went back to my dorm and I slept like a rock. That is, until tomorrow, where I felt the same pain and really felt like staying in my dorm the next day. But of course, I didn''t. Chapter 6 - Xaviers Invasion I woke up this morning, 6 months after the start of my new academy, to a loud BOOM. I looked outside the window to try to see what was going on, but all I could see was rain dripping down my window from the gray sky that loomed above. I tried to depict any sort of smoke or something that could be linked to an explosion, but I had no luck doing so. Crawling out of bed, I looked around for Chad, but I couldn''t find him. I decided to check my clock that I had put on the wall and saw that I was 2 hours late for classes. I got my uniform on to have at least some clothes on when investigating that explosion since I would rather check out some explosion over my classes. We had our exams next week, however, I heard an explosion, so I don''t feel like going to class at the moment. Running out of the large door to the academy, I look to my immediate left and saw people fighting, before hearing an older man, the Headmaster, on the announcement system. "This is not a drill. Our academy is being attacked. I repeat. Our academy is being attacked. All students must be at the gymnasium in five minutes or we will lockdown without you," he stated firmly. I had a hard time finding out where I was supposed to go without Chad helping me, and he even called me directionally challenged. Five minutes is a tough deadline to meet for someone who is directionally challenged, but I tried to remember where the gymnasium was. In my search, I saw something on the floor in one of the halls. I decided to walk over to it and check what it was, but when I did, I noticed it was a person. With haste, I put my hand to the girl''s chest to check for their pulse. I felt a very faint pulse, so I decided to heal them with my newest spell, "Super Heal," a lifesaver if you ask me. There is a heavy mana toll, but that didn''t bother me much, because over the past few months, I had gotten much stronger and therefore this was no problem for me. The girl woke up, and I told her to hurry to the gymnasium. I had also told her about me being directionally challenged, so she led the way. We found the gymnasium a minute or so later and ran as fast we could to the doors before they closed. We entered the gymnasium and saw a lot of students and professors sitting around, with the professors on some sort of stage. "Are you okay?" I asked the girl. "I think so. Something that felt like a sword stabbed me, and I saw the sword go through me. How did you fix me?" She asked, a bit of admiration in her eyes. "I can''t really tell you, but the important part is that I did. Wait, didn''t they say they had a barrier? How did that happen?" I couldn''t figure it out. If something got in here, they had to have been a student or a professor. Which meant that she might''ve been stabbed by a professor, or a student. "Wait here." I walked up to the stage and motioned for the Headmaster, who was in the back talking to the other professors, to talk to me for a second. "Ah, Kas, How can I help you?" The Headmaster asked with a worried face. "I have information that a student here, or a professor may be a traitor. One of the students was stabbed, and I healed her. Isn''t there a barrier that only allows students and other professors?" I asked with concern. "Yes, you''re right. This is a rather bad situation, a trusted professor may be trying to kill you students and us professors," he furrowed his brow and thought, before thanking me and reuniting with the other professors. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. I walked back over to the girl and waited. "What happened?" She asked. "I told them there may be a traitor among them because there is a barrier around the school," I replied. She didn''t reply, she only bit her lip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Less than thirty minutes, another explosion was heard near the entrance of the gymnasium, and the door flung open. The lockdown had been put in place a while ago, and yet this person had gotten in? "Hello, Headmaster, or should I say Pyrilis?" The man said with a smile. Unlike the professors and the Headmaster who wore robes, this man had heavy black armor on, "I have no intention of hurting the other students or your professors. Not even you, Pyrilis. However, what I really want is the SSS potential boy named Kas!" The Headmaster gasped. How did this information get out? He hadn''t told anyone, and only Kas'' father had known. Unless, when they spoke, someone was listening in? "Well done, Xavier, you found out. Well, I''m sorry, but he''s not coming with you," the Headmaster stated, and then jumped at Xavier with a glowing sword in his hand. Xavier summoned a pure black sword in his hand as well, and then blocked his attack with a loud BANG! "You''ve aged, Pyrilis. I''m stronger than you now," the man in black said before he pushed the Headmaster back with a shove. The Headmaster grunted and pushed Xavier back. "Are you that arrogant?" The Headmaster asked with a serious expression, "Have I not taught you that arrogance is the downfall of any man?" Xavier winced and infused his sword with darkness mana, using his secret spell [Prison of Darkness]. The Headmaster smiled and then used [Enhanced Body] to try to overpower Xavier while he conjured his [Prison of Darkness] spell. Pyrilis didn''t realize, however, that Xavier was using his spell as a decoy. A minute later, Xavier smiled and a large amount of wind could be felt coming from above Pyrilis. He looked up and saw a sword coming down on him. If he moved to deflect it, he would die by Xavier. With a yell, he pushed towards Xavier to try to get out of the way, but he had no luck doing so. I felt useless. I wanted to help, I wanted to be useful to the Headmaster in any way I could. I was crying because of how useless and powerless I was. Think! What can I do?! Use the knowledge from the last six months, self! Come on! Please! And then a memory struck him like a knife; [Destroy]. He imagined the sword of darkness exploding to nothingness. This sword was no ordinary sword, however. It was an Ancient-grade Artifact of Darkness, the sword of the God of Darkness, Tenebris. How Xavier got access to this sword, it confused even the creator of it, but she was enjoying watching the commotion, so she let him have his fun. A wicked smile appeared on her face. He used Light for the element to ensure it''s a success, due to the fact that Darkness was weak to Light, and a bright light spread from his palms in a reverse cone shape and he smiled as he cast the spell that would get him recognition for all of history; [Destroy]. As he used nearly all of his mana to destroy the sword, he cast another spell which put him very close to death; [Air Spike]. This air spike shot at Xavier as Kas fell unconscious from the tremendous amount of mana he just used, with a smile on his face. And the next thing he knew, he was in the clouds, with someone he could only guess was a god because of their massive aura. "You''ve come, finally. It took a lot of effort to get you here, you know," the mysterious god said, "I am the Sun God, Solus. It is nice to meet you, hero." "Solus?! Am I dreaming?!" I exclaimed excitedly, practically yelling. "No, I can confirm you are not dreaming. I am here to tell you a couple of things; one, you almost died, and two, because you almost died, I believe some spells have returned to your memory, Overgod," Solus replied while smiling. Chapter 7 - Farewell, Academy! The only thing around us was clouds and a carpet in which we sat on. The man, rather, god, in front of me was Solus, the God of the Sun and the acting Overgod, a being that oversees the other gods. This Overgod is named Jacob, and apparently, that was me. I looked up at Solus once more, confusion welling inside me. "Overgod Jacob, huh? I transferred my memories to this body to live peacefully?" I asked. Solus had told me that I had transferred my memories to this body to live happily and have fun. "Yes, Overgod. You informed me about this decision before you went to the mortal realm, and now you are here, after almost dying," Solus said plainly. "Okay, well, first, please call me Kas. Second, will I be okay?" "Yes, in fact, I believe you have become stronger, from Rank B to Rank S. Your mana is almost all returned to you due to being here. If you did not have a god''s touch, you''d have been evaporated the moment you came here." "Hm? Ranks? I thought that was potential?" "Potential is the rank you are able to achieve. With this, I must add that you are the fastest growing human of all time. Congratulations." "That''s cool, now, is there any way for me to get a few spells that will be useful to me? I''m currently running off of hazy memories, and then I had gotten whatever that spell was. I dislike almost dying to that spell, so I need powerful ones that won''t kill me." "Hm, yes, I will unseal a few memories. The spells you will receive are [Divine Manipulation of Time and Space], [Unseal], [Infinite Sealing], [Divine Contracts], some evolved fire magic spells, an advanced wind spell, and a few others," he stated, proceeding to snap his finger. After he did that, my head got a bit dizzy and I learned about all the spells I had gotten. Firstly, I apparently could now rewind and accelerate time as I please, without messing with the ''continuum'' as it is called. It would likely cost a lot of mana, however, so I would use it sparingly. Next, [Unseal] was used to, as the name says, unseal anything. This is not very useful at the moment, but it''s good to have. The next one is apparently the best sealing technique the world has to offer. I''m not sure I''ll use it, but it''s also good to have. For some reason, I have no idea what [Divine Contracts] does, so I pushed it aside for now. The rest of the spells were pretty basic, so I just nodded my head and continued. "Thank you, Solus. I''ll be sure to reward you somehow when I get my memories back," I stated, and he looked like a dog getting a bone. I laughed a little and then waited for him to continue. "Oh, yes, and if you do reward me, please make sure it''s my own world! Anyway, I''ll be sending you back now. Please enjoy the gifts, and use them sparingly, as the sealing and time and space ones are very, very hard to use because of what they require. Enjoy your 3 best spells, as well as your other magic." "I will, thank you!" I said the final line as everything went black, and woke up to a wooden roof. Next to me, a girl was on a chair looking at me. This girl was the one I had saved earlier. "You''re awake!" She said as she hugged me, "I was worried for you."Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. I was a bit startled by the sudden tackle, and then I accepted her hug. The girl was still in her uniform and her red hair still looked nice. I felt warmth in my heart because of someone being this kind to me. "Don''t worry about me, I''m not dying to some mana deprivation," I said, a smile on my face, "actually, now that I think about it, what is your name?" She let go, and I was a little sad, but I let her go. "Oh, right, we haven''t even exchanged names. My name is Emily Gray, the daughter of a professor that works here. Nice to meet you." "You too," I replied. I was distracted, though. I felt that this school had nothing more to offer, really. I felt like I wanted to leave it and go on my adventures with the Adventurer''s Guild. I had a lot to think about, so I decided to tell her I needed to speak with the Headmaster, and went to his office, fully recovered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I knocked on the Headmaster''s office door, fear creeping through my boots. I had never talked to him without some other people watching before or at his office. It was a new experience, and I wondered if he''d allow me in. "Come in," he stated. So I did, and when I did, he was full-deep on writing something. It seemed important, so I felt bad. His office was nothing to scoff at. It was a very fancy room for this time. It sported the same marble flooring and walls as the other classrooms, but the room itself was huge. It had a second story, and it also had an area for meetings, reading, and then his desk. I admired his office and then walked toward his desk which was in front of a large window. "Kas Ravenwood, the hero that saved my life, what could I possibly do for you?" He said without sarcasm as he looked up from the paper he was looking at. "I had plans to leave the school, as I felt that this school had nothing else to offer for me. I am sorry for this sudden intrusion just say I would be leaving, but I must go where I want to go." "Yes, and uh, you remember that you''re 2 years old, right?" "I am 3, but I can probably change that soon, anyway." He looked at me from the seat he was in, with eyes that looked like they were piercing my soul. "I can do that for you, as you aren''t really 3, are you?" "With technicalities, no." "Yes, technicalities, Overgod." I was startled for a minute and then regained my composure. "How did you know?" "Well, my personal magic allows me to see your status without any secrets. You are strong, I can give you that." I sighed in defeat. "I guess, but I still have no memories of being this ''Overgod'' person." "I also guessed that, so no worries. Your secret is safe with me, but many others still seek your head. Be careful. You are relieved of school as of this moment, and I''ll complete the paperwork for you to leave now." In less than 5 minutes, a paper that said ''Early Graduation Form'' at the top. "Graduated? Hm, I guess that works," I said with a bit of confusion. "Yes, otherwise you would have to stay if I didn''t do that, so you can be off now. Have a safe adventure, Kas. May your gods protect you," he said, "Oh, and also." I tilted my head. "Here''s some money to be able to get an inn room and food for a long time. Don''t worry, this is nothing for me," he stated happily. I winced as I saw that it contained 1 platinum coin. A platinum coin was able to get you several mansions and still have a lot left over., and there are 100 gold coins in a platinum coin, so that should give you an idea of how much it is. With that, I had finally exited and completed my time at the Academy of Solus. Without informing anyone, I had left the school and bought a temporary inn room with the money I had been given by the Headmaster. Chapter 8 - Rage and Return [Xavier''s POV, 10 years ago] "Xavier, wait up!" A beautiful blonde girl said as she tried her hardest to catch up to me. I was running towards the Academy, as summer break had ended and I had no carriage, so I had to walk to the academy after the summer break. I didn''t enjoy summer break, as I had nothing to do during that time, being an orphan without too many friends. The only friend I had was the girl running behind me. I slowed down to match her pace, and she caught up to me as I watched her beet-red face turn towards me, most likely red from exhaustion. She had run with me to school every single morning since I met her on the way to school one day. This girl was named Ariel. I had run past her golden carriage when she was looking out of the window, and for whatever reason, she had decided that it was a good idea to follow my lead every single morning for 2 whole years, the year when I started going to the Academy of Solus, at the age of 10. 10 was a normal age for people hoping to enter the academy, since at that time you''d normally be good at control and such. However, the only reason I had joined them was that just a few weeks before that, a friend had told me about this place, and, I started training when the Headmaster saw me doing so. For a strange reason I didn''t comprehend at the time, he had invited me to go to this Academy. Deciding I had nothing better to do, I had obliged his wishes and went with him. He gave me a home, and he gave me money to live with. Happy that I had a place that I felt like I belonged, I went to this school and studied diligently under the Headmaster himself, where I was taught a lot of things that normal students wouldn''t be. Apparently, being invited by the Headmaster was something in itself, but being taught by him directly? It was another level entirely, which I found out not long after coming to that Academy. We headed into the Academy, her scolding me on being faster than her. With just a laugh, we entered the school and continued our usual schedules, me being taught by the Headmaster, and her being taught by the professors. I loved my life, really. But, fate didn''t want this to last. After the next summer break had ended and we were entering our third year, I noticed that for once, Ariel had not shown up to the academy. More than that, she was missing. It took them a while to find her, but when they did, she was dead. Out of grief, I had left the school and my emotions turned dark. I engaged in robbery, murder, assassinations because of her death, my only friend that I ever had, with the knowledge that the Headmaster, a rank SS individual, and me at that time, a rank A. With just a few years, I had entered the Hero ranks and then the SS rank, my name spread around the world. Then, I was careless one day. I had left traces and evidence of my, at the time, most recent crime. With this, the Kingdom of Fos sent out its best knights, a whopping 1,000 S rank individuals, to follow the tracks I had left behind. Within mere weeks, they had found me and I was in jail. After 9 whole years in prison in the Magical Correctional Facility in a very strong dungeon that someone had claimed for themselves, I heard noises of explosions, yelling, and screams within the dungeon. I was scared, frankly. My mana was constantly being pulled out by the Anti-Magic Barrier which had Mana Drain on it as well, making me lose mana and become weaker and weaker by the minute. I had been able to bear it for 10 years, but I was very close to running out, so I had accepted it. Within an hour, the screams and explosions ceased, and I heard a door open with several footsteps accompanying the open door. With a gasp, I spotted several masked people looking at me. "Xavier, you look pitiful," the one at the front, who I guessed at the time was the leader, said condescendingly. "H-how do you know my name?" I croaked. My voice was raspy, and I was weak. "Don''t sweat the details. We are the Shadow Swords, a group that strives for fairness and justice in the world. We heard a couple of years ago that you were locked away, and, having heard of your talent beforehand, we had planned and planned to get you out and back to your peak. What do you say?" I had no other option at the time, either dying or helping them, so I accepted their offer. "Okay. But, how are you going to get me out? This barrier is strong and I couldn''t even get out because of it." "Oh, Xavier, how much you''ve forgotten. You can''t get out because they focused all the power they had into defending the inside, and very little on the outside. Watch," with a flick, he shot a wave of darkness at the cell, and it encased the entire cell. Within seconds, the entire barrier shattered with a pop. Xavier''s jaw dropped slightly. "Thank you, uh-" Before he had time to try to think of something to say, the man answered for him.Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. "You can call me Brother X, or just X," he said with a visible smile forming on his mask. Xavier only nodded, "Brother Xavier, please, drink and eat. You must be hungry and thirsty after what these villains did to you." Accepting his kindness, he took the two loaves of bread and the water and feasted with pleasure. He had found yet another person he could call his ally, and so, he went with them willingly and happily, leaving any other prisoners in there to die by their hands, unknown to Xavier at this time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 Year Later Xavier''s POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After a series of successful missions, mostly stealing money from the rich and then giving it to the poor, he grew closer to the group and felt like he belonged. He still held Ariel in his heart, and always felt like killing every human he saw, but he resisted his urges and did the missions successfully without any failures. News spread fast about his escape, however, and people began to question how safe they really were, and questioned the royals and nobles too, which was going all to plan, in order to sneak into the Academy unnoticed, and try to convince the Academy of the nobles'' wrongdoings, and get more support. Now, they ventured into the Academy as the guards and knights were busy dealing with riots, most of the academy''s guards being forced to help them. He was told to attempt to break into the inevitable evacuation to the gymnasium, as they planned, and so he did, while the rest covered the Academy and ''saving'' the other stragglers. With his heart beating fast, they started the mission. Everyone went through different entrances and had no trouble getting them to evacuate to the gymnasium as they thought they would. Within minutes, Xavier would begin his portion of the mission. He waited until finally, the signal was given by Brother X, their leader, whom he got closer to over the past year. He broke the door down with his raw strength, and since the barrier was only a Rank A barrier, he broke it easily. With the door off, his heart beating fast, and doubts flowing through his head, he silently paralyzed the students or most of them as it would turn out, and he confronted Pyrilis, the Headmaster, quickly. Since the last time he was here, he was fed lies, like how the Academy is evil, and the country is only using you, things along those lines. So, he thought everyone in there was evil, to which he would find out soon, was not the case. "Hello, Headmaster, or should I say Pyrilis?" Xavier said, a smile growing onto his face. He walked slowly towards the Headmaster, and he got up the stage with Pyrilis on the other side, and the other professors protecting the students, which was silently commanded to them via a telepathic link. "I have no intention of hurting the other students or your professors. Not even you, Pyrilis. However, what I really want is the SSS potential boy named Kas!" The main goal at the start was to make them weaken the kingdom and make the king take action, up until a boy named ''Kas'' showed up with potential not seen since the Hero Age. How Brother X found out about this boy, he didn''t know or question. "Well done, Xavier, you found out. Well, I''m sorry, but he''s not coming with you," the Headmaster stated with eyes almost piercing his soul. Recovering from this accusing look of his, Xavier summoned his dark sword which he had received from Brother X, and then they fought. After a while, he started summoning a new instance of his sword above the Headmaster, without its presence being detected by Pyrilis. WIth major effort, it was completed, and he forced the Headmaster into a situation in which he couldn''t move without dying. Grinning, he made the sword move downwards towards the Headmaster and silently said his goodbye, with the Headmaster trying to stop it. To his surprise, he found out that someone could still move their arms, and then, the next thing he knew, the sword was gone, and he was looking up at nothing. He blamed the only person that could do this to him that he knew of, Kas, and he looked at him before he was thrown to the ground by the Headmaster. "What did they do to you, Xavier? You were such a talented and kind boy, but then, you changed. It was only after that girl died, I believe her name was Ariel? Grief is a troubling thing, and with only friends or family can you be relieved of it. But you had none of that, did you? In your rage, you killed by the thousands and turned to the side I would have never expected you to, the one side we were all trying to fight: the side of demons, and then you got caught." "I''m not a demon! I was taken in by people who care about me after my arrest, and they broke me out and saved me from the hell you call a prison! They let me see the truth; that this kingdom, this world, is flawed, and only we can save it!" Xavier yelled in denial. "Then tell me, Xavier, what''s good about massacring an entire prison of inmates? We found their bodies with a pool of blood around them! What''s even close to good about killing anyone who was not in this damn theatre! Tell me that, Xavier! They killed the stragglers that were left outside of the gym, slaughtered them! I saw them do it, and you can''t tell me that it''s justice because they''re all just kids!" The Headmaster raged, getting redder and redder with pure anger by the second. Xavier, on the other hand, was purely flabberghasted. He was not told about any of this, he was told they wouldn''t murder anyone unless necessary. This isn''t what he wanted. The inmates, sure, but these kids? Even on his rampage, he would never dare to kill mere children. "You''re lying! They would nev...er..." Realizing that the group he called a family never told him anything but the mission, and just told him to do it with masks on, he realized; he wasn''t a part of the family, he was a tool to be used and discarded when they were done with him. He stopped resisting the blade the Headmaster had on him and sobbed like he did when he found out about Ariel''s death. "You get it now, don''t you? They''re using you, Xavier. You''re better than this. Come back to us, Xavier. Come back to the light," the Headmaster said while smiling genuinely. Within minutes, he felt the barrier come back online, the one protecting the Academy, and then he felt people leave the area. He knew that without Xavier, they could not fight the Academy of Solus. With that, Xavier fell asleep from crying, and he was sent to the infirmary alongside several other students, including Kas. Chapter 9 - The Adventurers Guild Registration & Status Reveal?! For the first time in 6 months or so, I woke up from my inn room''s soft and comfortable bed to only the bustling noises and the brightness of the sun, and not some loud noise coming from a crack in the wall. With a contempt look on my face, I began my day with a casual stretch and walked out the door, yearning for monster hunting. That was my goal today: monster hunting. I walked through the ever-busy streets looking for the Adventurer''s Guild. I was told by the Headmaster that it would be on the main road, but the main road is so long that it''s impossible to find it! Until I did, and then I thought I was an idiot for not seeing thesingle largest building on the entire street. Smacking myself on the head, I walked in, and everyone inside gave me a weird look. "Hey, kid, are you lost?" A burly man looked at me and asked, less than politely. I ignored him and kept walking forward towards the reception desk, where several receptionists work at once. The man didn''t take it kindly, yet he only smirked but said nothing else. The entire building was similar to the Academy, marble floors and wooden walls with a wooden roof on top. North of the reception desk was the entrance and some tables for people to sit down and chat after a long day of adventuring, I presumed. Walking up to the desk, being a head or so taller than the desk itself, I had no trouble looking at the receptionist, a brunette girl in a ''dress''-like clothing that didn''t go past the knees. "Hello! I''m here to register!" I said to the receptionist. She looked at me with a face that had concern but confusion mostly written all over it. "Oh, okay then. Uh, do your parents know about this?" The receptionist asked. "They do, and they don''t mind. I graduated from the academy, after all." I replied happily. "Right, please enter that room over there. You''ll be tested before you join the Guild like everyone else, in order to put you into a placement rank. This placement rank is your starting rank, and the person you''ll be fighting is an S rank, so try your best. Your goal is to last at least 5 seconds or do any sort of damage when they start attacking you," She stated and then pointed to a hallway that had a room with ''Examination Room 1'' on it. I nodded and headed towards it. Once I went in front of it, I opened the door and it had a gym just like the Academy''s but it had something in the middle that looked like a stage, but it was in the very center of the gym. Confused, I walked over to the woman that was in the middle of it, and she looked up with a weird look on his face. Paying it no mind, I headed towards the center with a grin on my face. "Hello. My name is Fran, the person testing you today and also the vice guild master. Your goal, as you may know, is to either harm me or last 5 seconds or more. It will not be easy, but as always you can have the first attempt. Usually, it wouldn''t be me doing this, but the person usually doing it is gone, so it''s me today, another S rank,"Franexplained. I already knew how I was going to win this, but I outlined it in my head once more.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. First, I put some mana in my feet to increase my speed, and then, when I am behind them, I will put that mana to my hands instead, outputting a spell with Wind element, pushing her away. Then, I''d hope, she''d fall. As I learned in the Academy, the more mana you put in, the more powerful it is. With a smile, Fran said go and immediately I put my plan into action. Putting a hundred thousand mana into my feet, I leaped forward before she had a chance to react. With a grin, the next thing I knew I was behind her, and, with the wind spell finished, I put more mana into it, and then it pushed her into the wall, making her go through the gym''s wall. I think I put too much mana into the spell.I thought to myself, wincing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The guild master was watching the entire time, without Kas'' knowledge. Once he saw Kas'' execution, he was sweating. Could the prophecy...? He shook his head, it wasn''t possible. Continuing the paperwork he had to do, he ordered that Kas become an immediate A rank adventurer, and only S rank if he wants to, because S rank means you''ll be on the front lines of monster hunting at all times, therefore it was up to him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Within an hour, he had the A rank and was offered S rank but he declined it because of how much work it was, being on the front lines. The entire premise of him becoming an adventurer was to have fun, and he couldn''t do that if he was S rank, so he was left as A rank. Within another week, everyone in the entire Kingdom knew about his results from people hearing the noise in the gym, and at first, thought the instructor went overboard, but it was in fact Kas. After he walked out of the examination room, he was given several questioning looks, but he ignored them and went back to his room. I guess it''s nothing to worry about, for now.I sighed and thought to myself. The number of people that knew about him was growing steadily, so it won''t be long until some not-so-friendly people take notice ofme and begin to try to annoy me. With a thought, he tried the[Status]spell on a hunch from his memories, which was a spell he randomly unlocked recently. And, it worked, so he was happy. Name:Kas Ravenwood (Alias:Overgod Jacob, ???)
