《Sovereign Jesters》 Prologue: The Calling of the end I had nothing else, everything that I had, all the people that I have met. Bloodied and brused, some without the bottom half of their body, mangled and torn. The fleshy small tissue that had been ripped to shreads. even the crushed eyes that had their juices dripping off with bloodied residues. From the organs pulled out to some losing half of their faces, one could see the brains, bones, and fleshy meaty lays of tissue. I could smell the iron from the blood, the dirt, and the ashes that swayed within the wind in the air. I could also hear the voices of those that were screaming in the back of my head, wishing to live. Screaming, crying and bashing away at what was ripping their own necks and flesh off their already beat up bodies. Right now I was at the edge of the end. And I could see the pitless void below. The flickering sparks in the air aligned itself with the stars above as the moon was blood red and the world of these helpless biengs were on its last breath.Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. I cried... And I cried... I whined and I knelt down while my hands dangled from me... I looked up and saw her face in my memories.. She was there for me even after I had failed to have saved her.. She was only a little girl.. If her parents knew that I had failed... I would never forgive myself.. ''Just go'' I could still remember, as the blood slowly flowed out of her mouth, she was dying.. and I could not do a single thing.. I was useless.. Worthless.. I was a coward... All this power wasted on me... And now that it had left me I''m nothing... Just waiting for my death felt like I wasn''t doing anyone a favour. I held onto the small pin that she had given me before... I sighed... "Nothing in this world can help anyone now... Everything had fallen and so have I.." From my knelt position I latched my hand onto the dirt and ashy ground and pulled myself up. I can feel the heat coming from the distance as the corroded world was now on its last bead of life. I slowly took a step closer to the edge of the cliff, and then another step over the ledge onto thin air. "Lucia... I''m... Sorry" I closed my eyes, because I would miss that lovely little girl. She was my everything... Without giving a second thought... I fell.. And soon enough... I lost all feeling of what and who I was.. Chapter 1 Under the darkened sky of an evening in another world, the plains shifted ever so smoothly. The two moons that engulfed the blackening sky with their lights were filled with a gleam so bright that soothed many on the surface of this planet. All was fine and calm, as there were many who lived peacefully in farmlands and in adjacent cities. However, in the crofts of the underworld, there were many who had also been facing many problems, as one such woman was. In the cracks and crevices of these alleyways that were held in the City Of Voyagers, this woman had been running and running, moving quickly to leave harms way of the child that lay sleeping in her bosom. And those that had been following her had smiles across their faces, and complete evil in their intentions. But as the woman ran and ran, she could still not lose them with speed, they were all over the place, appearing from thin air as she dipped and dodged their swipes. Rearing close to the ends of the district though, something had latched onto her leg, and a small yelp escaped her lips as she desperately tried to get lose from the grip. A wicked snicker that came from said pursuers. As she looked back to what had grabbed on, she witnessed a shadow resembling a hand that emulated a black mist. WIncing, she cradled the baby in her arms tightly. But If she never let go of the baby, how would she be able to defend and protect the baby? ''No matter the cost'' she thought. A life that has not yet started was never meant to live without sacrifices of any sort, thus, kicking the hand off while the onlookers gloomed, smiling with glazed piercing eyes.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. She reached out her hand and a flash of a piercing gleaming light had engulfed the whole area surrounding them. It had given her enough time to find a hiding spot for the baby, and in a basket in an alleyway, was the closest hiding spot she could ever use. Raising her hand above the sleeping baby''s head, she pointed her finger down and up in a specific way as to instill an unknown type of marking on the baby''s head. In a loving manner, she spoke. "No matter what, do not lose sight of what you wish to live for, fight till you live... Please" With the last words, a kiss on the baby''s head, and she layed him down slowly into the basket. Hearing a creak nearby. She closed the top of the basket with huge fragments of bastket to cover the top, grabbed a random obeject laying around and had started running with it. Following behind her, there were those that had been pursueing her with intentions to kill and leave nothing behind, leaving the baby to sleep in the basket alone. ============================================= ====== (About a day later) A little girl had been rumaging through some stuff, in her own backyard. looking around for somethings, she had found a random newspaper of this mornings news. Reading what she could of it, she read aloud: "Bo-fe....Bo? Fort-rest Dee-stroyed?" Without any real practice, she had given up, reading was for nobles, and she was not one to be able to read. Throwing away the paper randomly, she heard a cry coming from somewhere. Her ears perked up, and her expression changed to that of confusion. Slowly getting up in the direction of a basket that had rummages of broken baseket lids on the top, she heard the cry of a baby emanating exactly from that place. With caution, she walked towards the basket, afraid. She had no idea what was going on, and she was scared, but her curiosity peaked her interest. Closer and closer she got to the basket as the sound of cries got louder and louder. She reached for the top of the basket parts and slowly took one of, which stopped the baby from crying. Looking in, she saw a small baby, but with a closer look, this one had red hair, and a character engraved on his forhead. The baby stared back, as she did so with confusion, she held out her hand and the baby had moved to grab it. cooing, the baby had smiled. But still confused of this occurance, she turned away, to glance at the other exits of the alleys. No one was around. While she was still looking away though, the baby slowly whimpered. She turned back to face the baby, and lifted it. The baby was covered in a small ragged and clean blanket, smelled a bit, but still held the baby. With a small smile towards the baby, she wandered off. ======================== Chapter 2 In the night when the stars called out to the moon, beckoning for it to come out and shine as radiant as the sun, in the plains lied a red-haired boy that stared endlessly with his mature gaze. He could see the difference in which this world was compared to the last world that he had been to, and the difference was great, but there were many similarities as well. Likewise to him, as long as the sun shined, and the moon glowed, it was the same thing in his eyes. It had already been more than 8 years that he still remembers the past of what had occured. He could see it as clear as day, and that haunted him. The names of people he had seen, the many ventures that he had been on for a promise of pride and protection. Enduring the most, wasn''t easy, even if it meant bieng paid little by putting your life on the line. However once realizing it, everything was for nothing, because the one thing he had promised to protect, ended up as a sacfrificial lamb that had protected him from certain death. He would have never wanted that, however, but as it may have been, there was no stopping a force that had evolved ten times stronger than what he could go up against. It was absolute madness. It made him clench his teeth at the thought of remembering his old past time, and as he was lying on the grass, watching the night sky, staring at the many stars, this universe shifted In the world he lived in, the sky was always clouded by the burning briskwood that the corroded had used to create a panic and cause distruction to the many villages and cities. It was so much chaos that there was no knowing weather or not it was day or night except if you lived in a certain place. If anything, the one thing he wanted to forget most, was his cowardice. While thinking though, without noticing a figure had risen up from behind him, without making a single noise, creeping up quietly and subtly. Slowly closing in on the red-haired boy, she immediately put her hands on his head and patted it from the sides while he layed there without flinching. "Leo, Mother had already served food to the others, and she told me to get you" This particular figure was a girl. A beautiful one at that as well. Her hair was a golden orange hue, which was a specialty upon this unique world. Leo, which was the red-haired boy, was still not used to his name. Although he had been with that name for a good few years, it does not outweigh a lifetime of bieng called a different name in a different world. He held onto some memories, but sometimes the old ways have not yet vanished for him. He sighed. For he didn''t really speak to anyone, and the real reason why was because he refused to allow affection to grow towards most people in this world. It was a burden more than a given. From his past experiences, that is what he seems to think about it in a general sense. Calmly and coolly, he sighed. For the girl, she completely understood just what his actions meant. He could not hide his intentions around this girl because she could read him like she reads picture books with a masters degree. It was slightly odd for him, but he allowed her to keep an eye on him, mainly because without her, he wouldn''t be alive. ''Sasha huh'' As if remembering it as a trivial factor, he heard her name various times. Her name was Sasha. Leo had gotten up from the grass he had been laying with, moving the girl''s hands away from his head. Along with him, she had pulled away to give him space to get up. With a small turn and few steps, she turned her head around to look back at him and smiled. "lets go then?" She said smirkingly. Expressionless, he nodded and walked after her, while still lookiing up at the sky as they had left so. While walking though, Sasha had started to ask Leo questions, wondering about the many things that they ususally spoke about, but since Leo never really talked in general, she would read his body language in order to understand him easily. So she went ahead and asked him a very familiar question. "So, when you leave this place, where do you think you want to go?" While staring ahead and back to him simultaneously. With a but of a sigh, he pulled his hands up and looked at them. "ah, so you''re not sure, but you want to study the waves?" As easy as it was to her, for anyone to even try to talk to him was almost impossible, unless you have caught his interest. ''Waves...'' He thought. When he recalled first taking a snoop around the church, he had heard that the priest of the church was someone who had used to be a Wave Master, or maybe still is. What he had never heard though, was the term "Wave", and that is what peaked his curiosity at most.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. However, upon learning what waves really were, it seemed no different to him than magic, but the operation and the different techniques to pull it off were more denser and had a bit of a different outcome. Unlike magic where manipulation and operation to controll the energy comes in. Waves on the contrary use vibration to exhibit a force that is unparralelled to any specific other element. say for example, a flame wave is a wave that uses heat, vibration and light cohersively to create heat energy in response to the amount of mana control that lies inside the core of said person exhibiting its use. if some wanted to use dark wave energy however, it would be completely different. But it usually relies in the afinity of the core of the person. And there are many different asorted wave users that have an abundance of potential, but there have only been a select few to have ever been called "Wave Masters", which are those that excel in an advanced function of using waves. When Leo had tried to use his first wave, it had completely knocked him out, because the vibration he was casting out was too much of a high frequency. When he had tried i the second time again after failure, he had felt like he was sucker punched because the density of the wave was too much. So that bieng said, having the ability to even control waves was already the first step towards becoming a master. But, there was also another thing that Leo had wanted to try out. And It was absolutely game breaking compared to what he had ever thought about. Once reaching close to the church, Sasha had walked in first, so as to suprise the kids that had been eating. Loud and some obnoxious, as she went in and he followed a wide array of children jumped out of their seats, completely ignoring Leo as he followed right after her. With glowing eyes the children stared and frivously at Sasha, and surrounded her with questions about where she had gone or if she had brought something for them, but calming them down Sasha smiled warmly and laughed. "Haha, I just went to go grab this troublemaker here! Sorry!" she smiled apologetically towards the children as she knelt down to them eye to eye. "But, next time I go out, I will bring you something from the villages okay?" She smiled. The children had smiled back at her, laughing and returning to play around the lobby, while Sasha and Leo head towards the cafeteria. Sasha was more like an older sister to many of the children, however she mostly gave her attention to Leo because of her having been raised along with him, it was like they were brothers. However, Leo on the otherhand just saw her as a very kind person, not a brother or a sister, but a person in the same world in the same cloth as he was. Although Leo''s point of view was like this, he couldn''t help but still have at least some sort of affection for Sasha as well. Many of the children were younger than Leo, but a small amount were around their teens, and Leo was only 8 years old at the time, as Sasha was only 4 years older than him. But the teens never really stood around the church for much, they only stood closer to the cottage houses that were closer to the woods. Yet only a few decided to visit from time to time, most would decide to leave. This was all decided by the owner though, which so happens to be a wave master of expertise himself. Once both sasha had gotten to the cafeteria though, Sasha had gestured Leo to sit and wait for her at one of the wooden round tables, while she get the food. In the meantime, Leo had thought about focusing on himself. Before coming to this world, Leo had learned a lot in his experience on combat and magic. Learned both of these quite evenly and was balanced with military insight about how to use his abilities and capabilities. Although, when in battle though, the fight was different from actually learning. From the many battles hard fought and won, he learned that the majority of learning how to fight came from real on site battles than reading or watching, mock battles could also be of help, but with that said, then this would all be too good for a follow up. With many months of study with his previous years, he had developed a very peculiar technique. more than that of the first few moments of when he had discovered that the owner was such a wave master and a good one at that he would figure out a way to get into his room and steal books from his study, but as he took them, he also had put them back before any damage was done. Now, onto the idea of a wave. A wave is a pull or push of energy within the use of vibrational power. The stronger the vibration, the stronger the ability to push or to pull waves. It may be difficult but once someone is capable of reading waves and manipulaing them, he can add more to the wave allowing it to enforce its ability with elemental structure. There are many forms of waves, but mainly since Leo had prior knowledge of his magic, he had attempted to tap into the old soul that he had still harboured when he had the chance to without anyone looking. Once he had, he was able to bring a foreign power to a world that was constructed on a completely different scale of power. This had a small aspect, but he could build it into his waves as he didn''t have much affinity with waves, he thought about a mediator, and that was it. "Well, dinner is served" Abruptly, taking Leo out of his own world, Sasha had each a separate plate in each hand. Offering one to Leo, she settled her plate of food down and sat right by him. And Leo without question, nodded in a thankful manner. Still contemplating on Waves and such, he was hungry, the scent of food filled his nostrils, causing him to salivate. ===================== The finished food filled Leo up, although it wasn''t exactly good as a taste, the feeling of having eaten was a satsifactory one. Both proceeded to take their finished plates to the kitchen without a word, settling it down onto a counter top. And as the time flew by, it was finally time for sleep. Sasha liked how quiet Leo could be, she always thought that his lack of communication was for a specific reason but no matter what she wouldn''t be able to figure it out at this rate. Still, it seemed more interesting than ever. While both were walking to the floorhouse beside the church, Sasha asked another one of her many questions. "Why have you never spoken yet?" The voice of the girl resounded and echoed across the walls of the church upon leaving it. But this question actually did hit Leo a bit. He wondered why, and the reason was always answered with the fact that he wanted not to allow any more people in his heart, for as he did allow it, there was always misfortune for him. Yet, something inside him refused to think that negatively, he still had held onto his hopes that he would decide upon something soon. Without an obsolete answer, he just walked without giving a direct response. Sasha was watching him, waiting for a response, and yet as he didn''t give her one, she could tell that Leo wasn''t well quite sure himself. It was probably something to do with the rune on his head, but there was no telling how. As they both walked closer to the door in silence pushing it further, inside the floorhouse there were two separate wing, the right was for girls, and the left wing was for the boys. While they both had to part here, the both looked at eachother with a smile, wishing a good nights sleep and then turning to their directed wings. Sasha had entered in her room, and Leo in his. However, for Leo, this was another many chances for him to practice using Waves, and he took his time with this before the sun was to rise again for the next day. =========================== Chapter 3 During the night around the time all the other kids and household keepers were sleeping, Leo had decided that he would go out. However, Leo had already done this many times, the odd thing is how he had never been caught for a while, but he supposed mother gave him a temporary lay off for now. In the edges of the boarderlines that was a special stone, supposing that it held a protective force, right then and there, Leo had found a perfect spot to experiment with waves or whatever he could figure actually. It was over the plains close to the forest, at a small creek. The sound of the water that trinkled down the creek sounded relaxing, while crickets resonated with the atmosphere of the night. Filled with the idea of gaining a new ability that was completely new to him, Leo was to begin. In the theoretical sense of waves and magic. Waves as a power was the ability to create energy through the use of vibraion. Once that did happen energy could manifest in the form of any type of element depending on the skill and aplication of outward sources of energy that pertained to the soul. If there was no element however, it would create a humming sound that can be heard by your ears and felt by your bones. As a start Leo wanted to try this for a bit again as always. Practicing from the books he had taken from the owner of the church, Leo seemed confident he could pull this off. So he focused, to bring a wave to fruition, one has to feel the energetic pulse from their aura. As stated, he did what he was tasked to. Bringing it to life he started to envision power at his arms. While the mana in his body would shift slowly, Leo had felt this familiar feeling. As the movement of the dense air would begin to move as well, he could feel a harmonizing push. Holding out his hand he envisioned an electrical ball of energy, much similar to the magic in his world. A with that, he let that energy force go and hurled it from his core out of his hands. Once he had opened his eyes right when hurling it, Leo could see a pressure of wind pushing leaves and splashing a bit of water. He was happy to have done it again, but the outcome was always the same, not like he wanted it to. He had gone through this over and over again, trying to create a bolt of electric energy but the same type of magic could not be applied to the power of this world. It was not like he could anyways. He wondered why this had been, why this was what it was, but he was happy he could even do just that. "Well that was very interesting. Not many would see that sort of skill" Out of the blue, this voice was that of a familiar woman to Leo. This woman was Mother. Mother was the careholder for the floorhouse, and she did help the children and watch them durring the day when they were outside playing. However, Mother also had a past quite much similar to that of the owner of the church and the land. More mysterious than the owner, Mother had lots of skill and insight with technical ability, to that which allowed her to read Leo''s wave quite carefully. As she treated many of the children, Leo was no different, but the aura that Leo had was not the same as any other child. She would encounter children with abilities that had promising talent, like Sasha, but not as mysterious and alluring like Leo''s would be. WIth the ability to manipulate waves, one would unconciously tap into the element of their soul. Waves, or any type of wave in a general sense is the ability to extend the power of the soul from what Mother had learned so far in her lifetime. There is not a single child on the surface of the world that couldn''t manipulate the power of waves. With all that bieng said, Upon Leo using the power of waves... He didn''t exhibit an element from the seems. Slowly walking closer behind him as he kept his gaze on Mother. She spoke clearly and soflty. "Why don''t you try that again? I would like to be the judge of your power." With a smile, she lifted her left hand up lightly and used a wave that allowed her to emit a small orb of light. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. With the sudden action, Leo wasn''t so sure how to react, but if it was what Mother said, then by all means he wouldn''t mind at all. Turning back to face a random tree within sight. He redid the steps that he took and closed his eyes. Feeling the power, thinking of the form, and then envisioning it leaping from his hands, Leo held his hand outwards. As he gathered his strength, he opened his eyes and expulsed the power he felt from his body gathered onto his hands and outwards. Mother''s eyes narrowed and her mouth was left slightly open. She was bewildered. The sound of the wave that he had catapulted from his hands was more concentrated than before, but there was only a strong outwards pressure, it was not an elemental wave of any sort. It was only manipulating the atmosphere around it causing many stones to fly off, branches to fall, and leaves to shrudder while they fell down as well. Leo felt like he had thrown a massive invisible boulder at a tree with just an arm once that dense force that he let go had hurled itself out. From what Leo had felt, he thought that it was more of an air punch or something. He wasn''t sure if he was doing it right, because he was unsure of the method that he was using. Of course he had read the book on how to do it, But he wanted a method that would implement every strength that relayed throughout his body and the air particules in the area surrounding him. That bieng said it still was a more difficult way to bring out waves than the method normally used to bring out waves. Which was the original ''vibrato'' exercise. This type of method, did not exist though. He was using his imagination on a scale that would affect his physical body to do this, which was originally used in his old world where magic was the implementation of operation and mana control that constricted purely of imagination and the energy around him. Waves on the other hand, used the power of vibration to channel into different sources and modify, which was different to complete sublimination with the ability of magical expertise. "Leo, what exactly did you do to channel such force outwards?" Mother asked bewildered. Leo in response turned to her and opened his mouth to speak about his actions, but quickly going back on it he closed his mouth and turned his head towards the small water flowing down the creek. "I was practicing like normal, but I can''t understand why the iniciation takes too long. What should I do?" As he stared off into the water, his mind begain to spin to actually figure it out. Mother looked at him with a wince and shifted her hands. She knelt closer to him as she held her hand with the small orb of light. "Leo, do you see this?" As indicating as she was slowly lifting her hand up and down. Leo watched and paid close attention. "The reason why this light is still capable of emiting itself through my hands is becaus the vibration still stays apparent. Much like you stay awake, everyone produces a sound even when they don''t know it" In her hands, the small orb begain to flicker and spark, turning into a ball of blue flame now. "Vibrations can shift and change like an instrument, they can be fine tuned, but the problem with tuning them is that you need to have the right ears for it, otherwise, you won''t be able to hear your true power." Still holding onto the blue flame, Mother distanced her hand a little due to the heat. "B-but, how do I learn to hear?" Leo asked hesitantly. With a small giggle, Mother smiled, and proceeded to explain. "When I say hear, I mean feel. Power can only be felt once the ability takes its occurance. For example, try putting your hands in the water." Leo looked at Mother pondering at what she had meant. Then he had looked at the creek, slowly knelt down and put his hands into the water. "Good. Now then, feel the sound of the water, the way it moves, the cool touch, and feel it running on your skin, that serene clear feeling that makes you thirst for its energy. It''s very, life-force." With the keyword that slightly emphasized, Leo had completely understood now. Vibration, was the life force that remained in all living things. "You see? Everything is vibration, that is what many people fail to understand, they use the power of vibration, but not to understand it, more to endulge and empower their capabilities to fulfill their selfish desires" Mother spoke in a serious, yet coolly tone, it was like she was telling Leo something she normally wouldn''t tell anyone. Mother smiled warmly, as a checkmate feeling that she wanted Leo to understand not to take things for granted. Leo had a small insight about what vibration is. When he had first encountered something like waves, it had struck him like as if it was simply magic, but then thinking about it again, he never really cared about the meaning of magic, or its prior structure, he only knew the procedures of how to process magic and how to manipulate it. Although his ability with magic wasn''t as good as his swordsmanship it varied with people. However, upon hearing Mother, her words reasounded in her head again. ''Everyone produces a sound even when they don''t know it'' Those words sound like two meanings into one. "I feel like you got the idea, you should be more proud of yourself, not many can handle waves" Mother smiled heartfully. However, within a few seconds, mothers tone changed as she put her hands on her hips. "But right now, you shouldn''t be having any ideas as you should be in your room. Sleeping" A more heavier tone now that a lot of time had gone by. Still this was better than having nothing learned. Leo this time was willing to go to sleep with glee. Soon enough Leo would have to figure out how to allow himself to fix a way where he can practice waves anywhere but without gathering attention. It was only due time till he figured. As Mother had enforced him to sleep, she walked him towards the front of the floorhouse, and by there she had giving a slight goodnight hug before letting him off to sleep. By the time Leo had gotten to bed. He was thinking about many things he could do to amplify his afinity with waves, but he needed to know how to change the element of how he handled waves. Feeling sleepy though, his thoughts started to turn sluggish as he shut his eyes closed, and entered a into a deep sleep until he would wake up in the morning again. Chapter 4 As days and nights have gone by, the growth of Leo had come naturally as the war soon had become an abrupt nationwide encumberment towards the trust of the citizens of the kingdom, and its noble allies within the continent. And the opposing leader of war had been one of the many demon kings of the infernal lands, Zagan. From what the kingdoms know, This particular bieng was powerful, but Zagan was mostly well known for his ability to transmute many things, he could even turn a fool into a wiseman. Yet even so with that information, it only worried the nobles and kings of the land, in a fight, it would only drive them to run, but as a country they had to defend. It was the only choice the lords of the land had. However, as all this had happened, Leo had been sleeping peacefully in the plains far from the frontlines of the defences of the continent. As the war hadn''t broken up yet, it would only be soon that everything could all occur at once. While Leo had been snoozing soundly on the grass, the wind bristled nicely along his face and skin. The sound of horses pulling a carriage however, had abruptly woken Leo up, alarming him to see that they were in the pathway in the direction to the church. Leo had thought something was up, as there was a flag and a crest very familiar to the one he had seen when he had borrowed books from the room of the Owner of the church. WIth that note on high, he turned over and pushed himself up with his hands and walked towards the Church after the horse carriage. =========================================== "-Once the war has begun, the Kingdom''s monarch wishes to have you battle at the frontlines, miss Reinhart of Ervale, and Talus of Argest" Closer and closer Leo walked to hear an unsettling discussion between from what appeared to be the Owner, mother and the guards that happened to have stopped in front of the church. They were in the carriage that Leo had witnessed ride along the path from when he was snoozing about on the plains. Upon closer inspection, he could see a teary eyed Sasha hiding behind a corner wall from the entrance to the church. "This establishment was a promised retirement letter to me from the king himself, beside that, how can you ensure the safety of everyone living here?" Talus, the Owner of the church, and the Wave master that Leo had ''borrowed'' books from was quite against the idea of having to listen to the orders that guard had demanded as per the king. Mother on the other hand, looked furious, with her arms crossed, it would be no suprise if she were to blast the guard. However, with ease, both parties were against eachother, from what Leo thought, He needed a way to convince them to go, because from what he had heard, was that the Lord of the kingdom allowed a retreat to the furthest point away from the frontlines. It could be possible, that this means that the king himself knows that this might be a fight this country cant win against, and a king with such cowardice would make such a move. But, because of this, that means there is a change of plans, bieng that Leo would need power if he wanted to survive in this world. Power, is necessary. As the argument dragged on, Leo decided to take a step forward, he thought up an idea that he wanted to suggest, and it might not be the best but it was what it had to be. He walked closer to the banter from both the Owner, and the guard that was speaking with him, soon enough Mother would take notice as she had her eyes on him with her arms still crossed. "Talus, I have an idea I might suggest" Interrupting the discussion, Leo had continued to settle closer until he was one step close to Talus. Talus had wondered what exactly Leo was up to, but with a blank expression he did not stop the boy. Based upon what Leo had overheard from their argument, aparrently there was a war among this country with a powerful demon king. Knowing Talus''s capabilities, this was something he figured Talus had already known. However, the original request that the king had for them was that they had a place for the children to stay more up in the northern parts where there was a small village that was far from the fronlines. Yet even though they were up in the north, the only issue was that there is a more denser environment up there.Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. Needless to say, the only thing that they had to do though, was to do battle in honour of the Lord on the frontlines, where everything was to happen within 5 Months of expectancy, but the way is either possible to be later or, earlier with certain circumstances. The aparrent reason that Talus, and Mother are against this, was because they knew more about the northern parts then anyone else, speaking that there are more dangers in that environment then any other. While the guard also declares that they will be guarding the caravan along with paid and loyal mercenaries, Talus claims that no idiot would simply go further up north of Argest. Leo wasn''t sure exactly if this would work, but it was worth the shot. "Talus, you were revered as one of the many great Wave masters throughout the continent, I may not be sure about this Idea, but its what I have come up with" As everyone simply stood silent about what the boy had said, then they all waited for him to speak. "In one of the many books I had read about waves, there was one in particular that had defined the ability to channel the natural element to ones will. The name of this book was called ''The Maledictus Calicem''." The second Leo had uttered these words, Talus''s expression had changed to bewilderment, and Mother had gasped very slightly, the guard however, was seated comedically on the floor crossed legged while picking his nose. Without caring about the guard, Leo had continued. "Although it was more than difficult to read, there was a way to change completely the energy flow of a person within the vibrations, due to some circumstances that I can explain on another date, I will need you to accept this request from the government, but once you do, I will ask of you to become my mentor in order to teach me how to use Waves more properly." As clear as the day was, Leo had understood more of the situation than he could. "Wait, but if they do accept it, how are you so certain that everything will be alright? You want to become his apprentice, but how would that help?". Out of nowhere, Sasha had stepped up, with her eyes red from the tears that she had already wiped off her face, she still stood up even though it was visible she had been crying. With a small smile coming from his face seeing how Sasha was able to stand, Leo had decided to explain to them what he really meant. Although he wanted to tell them the truth, it would be impossible for them to believe that, but the lie he had was more constructed to allow them to believe. "A few days ago, I had recieved a vision depicting the events that would unfold, and although it may be hard to believe, that vision told me to seek you, Talus, you hold the ''key'' for the survival of the children of the church. However, the power needed to open what is a door is however a problem, and this is only one of those many hurdles that will hindrance this unfortunate event." Speaking very calmly and solemly, no one really knew if he was lying or not, but due to the fact that he had never often spoke a lie, or even spoken openly, this caused them to waver a small bit. Leo only spoke what he needed, for them to believe him, any more would cause a dispute within their minds. Although he wasn''t the best calculator or strategist, he knew what people wanted upon looking at the way they carried themself, and that was the real key to getting to them. Within a small moment, Talus, had decided to accept the request, having put his trust in Leo. Talus felt odd, although he had never really questioned it, apart from the fact he was only abstaining from agreeing because of the promise that was never really a promise which the kingdom had granted to Talus and Reinheart. Yet it also suprised Talus the fact that the boy could actually read even a small segment of the book, which would have been almost impossible. ''Someone has been studying it seems'' Unwillingly thought Talus. "Very well, Derge, Tell the King that I accept of the request, but he better promise no harm towards the children." Said Talus attempting to grab the attention of the guard. With a hop to his step the guard stood up from his comfortable cross-legged position, as he got up he streched his arms while yawning as if he had been resting for a bit. "Ya''know, watching all this crap and squabble, even from this king I work for now its become quite a hassle..." As everyone watched him with a blank stare as Sasha coughed once, his face slowly crept up a smile. "Heh, But I am glad old friend, looks like you''ve grown to trust more people often, even if he is just a little brat." Chucklling by the end of his sentence, Leo had not changed his expression, however Talus slightly chuckled. "Who knows, maybe a risk is involved but sometimes, when you look at their eyes, they are more than what meets the eyes" With that remark by Talus the guard turned around to head to the carriage. "Haha, it only takes one to win the battle, but it should be one of many" Walking, and smiling altogether, Derge had lept up on the steps of the carriage and with one last turn around he saluted.,"See ya at the battlefield champ". Talus nodded with a small smile. "You better not die you imbecile!" From behind Talus, Mother had shouted. And as the carriage continued the laugh of the guard was slowly fading. "That man certainly is a character" Blurted out Sasha. Leo faced the front of the church clasping both his hands "But it is what it is, lets get down to business". "Leo, wait, why are you only speaking now when you had the chance to do so many times before?" Grabbing Leo''s arm, Sasha wanted an answer, she knew it wasn''t the time for it, but who knew when he would blatantly stop? thats what she had thought at the moment. "Speaking is useless when there is no beneficial standard, and although communication is one of the many ways people can come to understand eachother, it is also one of the many forms that wars can come to existence. Hate me or not for saying this, but I never intended to speak if it wasn''t for the fact that my livelihood was in peril". Logic was what surrounded Leo''s mind. He remembered a time when he had said the complete opposite and done everything the way he wanted, but as everything played out in the past life, he wanted to see change towards a better future. One where he can live in peace, even if happiness was not abundant, peace would surely be. Although suprised by the response, Sasha didn''t feel bad, she didn''t understand, and thats completly why, but although that was what it was, she now knew the reason why. As they both watched the two kids interact, they both smiled at eachother. "Its kind of like how you and I met, Talus" Mother had a calm voice. But it was the scene what reminded them of their past. "Yeah" Soon enough, they too would be heading right behind Leo.
