《Class Evolution》 1 - The merge My name is John and I spend most of my days at work at a pizza joint and the evenings in front of my PC. I am an avid gamer, by avid gamer I mean that I only play one game, an MMORPG , the same one which I played for the past 5 years, Chaos World. I once had a impressive physique which came after years of playing sports, and practicing Krav Maga, a hand to hand self defense art which is awesome and brutal. I also used to adhere to a strict gym regime. It was all gone now though. I am tall,6 ft 1so at first the weight I gained was not that noticeable but as time went on you just couldn¡¯t ignore my man tits. I still lived at home with my parents, not willingly mind you. Living in new york is very expensive, renting an apartment would have cost me an arm and a leg with my measly salary. I woke up at 9:30 am. The sound of my alarm woke me up from the most amazing dream I had. I don¡¯t really remember what it was about though, all I remember is a gorgeous women and the fact that she was naked. I went to grab a quick shower and got dressed quickly in jeans and a black T-shirt. I wanted to play Chaos world for a short while before heading to work at 12 am. While killing my 30thwolf in the game as part of my a daily quest the game suddenly shut down and the screen was pitch black. I was startled, I thought that maybe the power went out , I turned my head and saw that the the computer had power and the light from my fridge was on. I waited for a few minutes and when nothing happened, I restarted the computer manually and launched the familiar Icon for Chaos world to start the game. Nothing happened¡­ I waited for a few more minutes. Nothing was happening beside me getting irritated and smacking the keyboard as if that would magically make the game start. A familiar bell like sound came from my computer and a notification window popped up on the screen.

That¡¯s weird I thought to myself, maybe there was an update while I slept ?. No , that couldn¡¯t have been the case, there were no updates or patches scheduled to be released today. While waiting there for the game to finish whatever it was doing I wanted to smoke so I reached for the cigarette pack but it was light. Too light. Opening it and seeing there was nothing inside just got me even more frustrated so I decided to go buy some cigarettes from the store downstairs.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. I checked my phone while going down the stairs and noted that the time was 10:34 am and that I had no signal..wierd. I made my way to the store and went to the cashier to ask for my usual brand of Madburo cigaretes. The cashier in front of me was a cute middle eastern girl in her late twenties I assumed. Her name tag was showing and the name Yamin was written on it. I went to her and asked for 2 packs of smokes¡­ Nothing. I repeated myself, ¡° Can I please have 2 packs of Madburoplease?¡±¡­.still nothing. I was getting irritated so I decided to raise my voice a little and repeated myself¡­yet again nothing. I was annoyed at this point so I waved my hand in front of her but it was weird, she did not seem to notice me at all. At this point I noticed that her eyes were glued to the screen and they were not moving. In fact she was not moving at all. I looked around and realized that the 2 other customers in the store were not moving at all. They were all frozen in place. I did not know what the hell was going on. I ran outside and realized that other people were frozen everywhere, people were frozen mid walk, another balding guy was frozen whilst getting out of his car and another young blonde women was frozen while she was probably in the middle of her morning run. I was stunned, I did not know what to do or how to feel about this weird situation that apparently caused everyone to freeze in time . I decided to call my mother to see if she was ok, I took out my phone and while looking for her name on my contact list I realized that I still did not have a signal..but what was even weirder was the fact that it was still 10:34 am. That did not make any sense what so ever.. I must have spend at least a few minutes in the store and a few minutes out here staring at people. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder, when I turned around I saw in front of me a gorgeous half naked women staring at me. She seemed puzzled and before I could say anything she opened her mouth and all I heard was a shrill sound, the same sound you hear when you call a fax or the same sound old dial up modems used to make. The noise was loud and overbearing. I put my hands on my ears in an attempt to block the noise. The mysterious half naked women saw my actions and closed her mouth. It seemed that she was thinking to herself when all of a sudden she came towards me and put her thumb on my forehead. My view went black for a second and when the vision came back I was staring at a notification window in real life.

The half naked lady in front of me kept making that awful sound with her mouth and I was starting to get a massive headache and my vision was getting blurry. What I just saw couldn¡¯t have been real, it must have been some sort of a hallucination caused by this headache for sure. I was trying to find a place to sit when suddenly I fell down and passed out.

2 - The Merge 2 I woke up feeling dizzy with a massive headache, I felt as if my brain was hit with a jackhammer. I was still lying on the sidewalk staring at the sky. I thought that the sky was looking beautiful in its blue and purple color. Wait¡­ what? Purple? ¡­what the hell is going on here I thought to myself, since when the sky was purple and blue? I decided to try and stand but I was startled by the blood that was on my shirt, looking down I saw that my shirt was stained with blood splatter, I was not scared for some reason. I felt calm and relaxed even while my shirt was clearly dotted with the crimson color of fresh blood. As my eye was feeling watery I went to wipe it and looked at my hand in a mix of shock and horror.. My hand was covered in blood. I immediately tried to stand again and went to to look at the car mirror that was parked near where I collapsed. What I saw actually made me get worried as I found the reason for the blood all over me. It seemed that while I was passed out I cried tears of blood and there was dried blood that streaked from my ears as well. I did not know what the hell was going on, I was covered in blood that was apparently mine, and I was looking at a purple blue mix of a sky and glancing at all the frozen people. While I was taking it all in and thinking all sort of thoughts such as, apocalypse? Naaa didn¡¯t seem like it. Chemical spill? Some sort of a natural disaster? A DREAM? Naa my ass was sore and hurting and you couldn¡¯t feel pain in dreams from what I knew. What the fuck was going on ¡­I am not a dramatic person but I was getting an urge to start jumping up and down and starting a shit spitting marathon of curses, which I actually did. Hey, I never said I was a nice guy; I was a loner with a bad attitude, not the sort of being mean to people but the sort that only cared about himself and his. Yes, I was a selfish prick with a bad boy attitude and the mouth of a sailor gained from years of shit talking to annoying kids on Chaos world. While I was doing my marathon of curses ranging from the usual and getting into the crazy such as starting to curse even the damn weird sky, I felt as if someone was looking at my back and I immediately turned around to find the same half naked women I saw before I passed out staring at me with her head tilted to her side. I wanted to hide myself as I knew she watched my crazy act just a minute ago, but I couldn¡¯t move because of a simple reason. I was staring at her gorgeous body which was half naked, and I mean the upper half was naked¡­ she wore some sort of a black dress from the waist down to her knees and her upper half was literally naked. Only her long overflowing black as obsidian hair was covering what I thought were the best damn breasts I¡¯ve ever seen. While staring at this gorgeous goddess a weird sound started popping in my head. The same sound as you hear when u press a bell at a hotel reception. All of a sudden a weird notification popped up in the middle of my view.

My nerves were getting through the roof and I could barely breathe as I immediately understood the implications of what just happened. ¡° THIS IS THE SAME NOTIFICATIONS THAT ARE IN CHAOS WORLD ¡° I yelled. While looking again at the goddess who now stood a few meters away from me I started to see a the same familiar status you used to see in the game. Her status simply caused my mouth to open up and stay that way while feeling dumbstruck .

I was still staring at her status and title when Agoda opened her mouth and said to me ¡° Are you ok John? I though you were having a heart attack earlier when you were jumping up and down cursing the skies. I thought you went mad. You looked like headless chicken ¡°. I was still dazed with her appearance and title and decided to answer her question , but all that came out was a whiny sound that sounded like Whaaaat ?This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. Agoda started to giggle and appraised the man in front of her and sighed. ¡° Damn John you have bigger tits then me ¡° she said ruthlessly. It seemed that this LITERAL Goddess had jokes I thought. ¡° What the fuck is going on here? ¡° I managed to utter in my usual NON whiny voice . Agoda was still appraising me and she said nonchalantly. Oh nothing serious just the usual world merge. ¡° What the hell is a world Merge ? who are you exactly? And can you please cover your breasts? ¡° I cant seem to focus on anything as I was in the middle of pitching a tent while a world changing event was going on around me. ¡° Calm down ¡° agoda said. ¡° I don¡¯t know why you were not affected by the Merge but when I saw you earlier you could not manage to comprehend what I was saying so I had to force the ¡° change¡± manually in you.¡± Agoda said. ¡° As for What a World Merge is, as it sounds. A merging of two worlds into a single one. There are many reasons for a world merge such as a death of a God in charge of that world, which causes the balance to go crazy and ends in the destruction of that world . Another case is if two worlds seem to be going towards natural destruction and by merging the two worlds can they both be somewhat saved . In order for a merge to go smoothly each God governing each worldhas to agree to a merge between them as well and the stronger God absorbs the weaker God and manages to stabilize the newly merged world¡± She said this so nonchalantly and in such a carefree tone that it made my left eye to twitch. She continued ¡° Inthe case of this merge, each of our worlds was goning to destruct eventually, in mine it was due to lack of Mana which all living beings need , and in the case of your world it was due to the way you humans treated your nature. In a few hundred years no life would have existed anymore. So I and your world¡¯s god decided to merge and save both worlds by merging them together.¡± ¡°As for who I am, I think you already know that answer, I know you can see my status and title now. Which as you already realized it is an influence of my worlds system. I and your world¡¯s god were testing the waters out to see how humans here would adjust to a game like setting which is the norm on Chaos world, so we released that game you seemed to love. Let me tell you john I was watching you play chaos world and oh boy you gave me hours and hours of entertainment and a few chuckles. Ok more then a few chuckes, you know how funny it is watching a tank trying to kill a monster but get so brutally devestated because he doesnt have a shield on? And that just kept repeating until somehow you managed to get used to blocking with your offhand instead of a shield. ¡° ¡°For asking me to cover my tits? What kind of a male are you? I am not going to cover my body, I like the reaction it caused in you ¡° She glanced at his tented member with a mischievous grin. ¡° As you realized, the future will be different from now on, Chaos World and Earth will merge into a singular world governed by the rules of Chaos World¡¯s system . ¡° I opened my mouth finally after calming down and managing to not stare at this Goddess as much as before which made me be able to think rationally again. ¡° I understand what is going on , I never expected the situation to be as severe as you described but I do understand. I love the genre of books and novels that deal in transmigration or reborn in a new world so for me this will be quite enjoyable. I just hope that you fix the classes ¡° Isaid that last sentence extra salty due to my personal experience within Chaos World. I made a mistake during character creation when I first made my warrior 5 years ago . It was a stupid mistake that stemmed from not reading the class descriptions. She tilted her head and with a grin she laughed ¡° I did enjoy watching you dumbass play a class that is originally ment for tanking as a supposed damage dealer" Yea it is as it sounds. I thought I could customize my warrior which is supposed to be a tank and tried to make him a damage dealer. "No" she said . " The classes in chaos world are bound by the original description. There are no mixed classes. But u know what? You did give me years of entertainment and you are pretty dedicatedbut you doreally need to start paying attention in more detail . Trust me , you will need to. What I will do is give you a very precious giftand grant you a boon as thanks for making me smile so often, even today.¡± All of a sudden a white flash filled my eyes and a new notification popped up.
For being an entertaining fellow , the Goddess Agoda granted you the ability to Evolve your chosen Class once , you will be able to mix 2 classes into a single evolved class. You will be able to choose which classes to mix and evolve in your status panel . Rejoice this is the first time in history that this is being allowed
When my vision returned she was gone. I noticed a small ring at the spot Agoda was standing before doing her dissappearing act and went on to grab it, as soon as I managed to get the ring , I passed out again. 3 - Awakening Waking up from another involuntary time out was really starting to get on my nerves, but what I awoke to really made me speechless. People all around me were laying on the ground and were in the process of waking up from whatever it was that knocked us out. I was looking at a new world, the city landscape went through a transformation. Buildings were intertwined with nature. I can see tree roots splitting asphalt and concrete . Wild flowers are all over the place. Some of those were weird alien flowers in all shapes and colors and they are dotting the earth as far as the eye can see. Trees the size of skyscrapers were all around us. Imagine dropping a modern city inside a jungle for a millennia or two and this would have been the outcome. For me though this landscape is familiar and inviting. This is the landscape from Chaos World with a mix of modern human architecture. Everyone around me was left with expressions of awe, shock and terror, but some people I noticed were reacting to this new world with a sense of acceptance. Those were probably people who understood on some instinctual level of what just happened to us or they were fellow Chaos World players. Either way, we are now in the mercy of our new situation, nothing we can do about it. Whilst thinking to myself that I needed to distance myself from this people a few notification popped and I saw that the people around me also got the notifications as their mouths were now wide open.

This new world is the beginning to a journey of Discovery , Wonder and Terror. Ever wondered how would it feel to be able to wield the elements? Now you can! Beware, the class you choose is permanent and unchangeable. This is your new beginning; make wise choices as you only get one life! Death is Permanent.

In order to access your Status screen, all you need to do is think or say ¡° Status¡±, under the status screen you will be able to see different tabs which you can open by just thinking about it, any further action you wish to make can be done by simply thinking about it. I was still thinking about all that happened when I heard people starting to yell ¡° Status ¡° while others were just visibly panicking. I did not want to pay attention to anyone else right now, I had decisions to make as quickly as possible so I can get away from the people around me. I knew whats coming¡­ Monsters. I did not want anyone to shackle me down with moral obligations of mutual help and that nonsense. All I ever needed was myself. All I ever cared about was my mother and myself. I will need to head to my parents house as soon as possible to see how my mother is doing. I thought ¡° Status¡± and a screen opened up.

I am getting excited just thinking about what this all means. A new beginning in the kind of fantasy setting that people only dreamed about, now this is our reality. I went ahead and opened the Class Tab and true to her word I saw the same notification letting me know that I can choose two classes to evolve into one.

I have one hour to make my decision. I need to be done quickly and head towards my mother I thought to myself. I know all of the classes in front of me, after 5 years playing the game I knew each ones play style , strengths and weaknesses. I know that I will be choosing a Warrior, but what other class should I choose?Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. The main problem with warriors is usually the fact that they are reliant on healers and consumables to manage their survivability. If I go along those lines I could always choose a Templar since they are basically healers wearing plate armor but they lack significant offensive abilities. Or I can choose a ranged spell caster class alongside the warrior class , that will give me higher survivability & crowd control with added damage output. I wasn¡¯t sure on what to do. This decision is harder to make then what I thought. While I was debating myself on which route to go I remembered the ring I picked up and used the new ability I gained earlier. ¡° Analyze ¡° I thought whilst looking at the ring.
" Ring of Servitude" Legendary Quality +10 to Strength +10 to Fortitude. Special Function: Allows the Wearer to summon x 3 times more minions per summon. Mana requirements remain the same.
I started laughing and people were starting to give me dirty looks, they were probably thinking that I went mad or something, but I now knew in my heart of hearts my path. I was leaning towards that direction from the beginning but now I was sure. I opened my status window again and went to the Class Tab. I chose Warrior and Summoner. Summoners were a great class that focused on crowd control and massive damage output via their summons. The only problem with summoners was the fact that they were very fragile. If a monster or a player ever got to the summoner it ment instant death to the summoner. If I combine the summoner with the Warrior class which adds substantial capability to absorb and output damage it would mean my own small army. I wont need anyone else to survive in this crazy new world. I went ahead and thought ¡° Confirm ¡° A whirlwind of black and red mist started enveloping me and a few notifications popped up.

A surge of clearness and calm downed upon me. My earlier anxiety has vanished. I feel alive. I feel strong. I feel ready. Ready for whats to come. I reopened my status window to inspect the new title.

Wow, a title with added stat increase. Those were rare in Chaos World, titles were just useless representation to a specific achievement. Titles that had added benefits were crazily sought after and harder to get. This was a blessing by Agoda I thought to myself. She was a crazy exhibitionist but she sure knows how to give a proper gift. I equipped my new ring and I took a look at my updated Status window.

Similar to the game, the stats had a 1:10 effect . Each stat point gave 10 points in the related effect of the stat. It seemed that my health went up by quite a bit and so did my strength which seemed to have an effect on my body. My arms felt more muscular and so did my legs and chest, sadly thought, I still had a pregnant size belly . I also now had mana I could use. I never had mana before. If this new reality was like the game then that means I will be getting a new Class ability every 5 levels for the first 20 levels, after that skills were harder to get. You had to do specific Class quests or kill Boss Monsters in the world or in a dungeon for a chance at a skill book drop. Whilst I was still busy with the Status screen and looking to the changes to my body a new notification popped up.

The earth shook and the sky took a menacing red and purple hue . Ear piercing roars came from all around us as monsters started appearing , blinking into existence. People started running and some fell down and started to cry. ¡° Crying wont help you now ¡° I thought coldly to myself and took off towards a hardware store that was across the intersection. I saw the typical beginner monsters such as large rats, enlarged wolfs, goblins and mutated humanoids ripping through the people. The monsters were brutally massacring everything around them, even other monsters. A pretty blonde women was running right next to me who seemed to be in her late twenties and was trying to run away only to end up with a goblin on her back . Terror was written all over her face as the Goblin tore through her throat with sharp long nails and with viciousness typical to goblins. She never stood a chance and I never had the urge to help. She was a lost case the second that goblin got on top of her. I needed to help myself right now . All around me I saw monsters tearing people apart like ragdolls. Body parts were flying and blood was coating the earth like a crimson river. All I could think was that I needed to get to that store and hide myself. A goblin appeared in my path, he was standing atop a human body at the entrance to the hardware store feasting on what looked to be a eldery man that was too slow to run away. I locked eyes on him and decided to ram the monster into the wall behind him. I got closer and closer to the goblin and by instinctual level the goblin must have felt that I was close as he stood up and turned towards me, but that was too late for the goblin as I rammed into him with my shoulder and the goblin went head first into the concrete wall. The goblin''s head exploded upon contact with the wall. Imagine throwing a watermelon into a wall. That was the aftermath of my collision with the disgusting monster. He was dead and I was alive. A few notifications popped but I immediately willed them to minimize and went inside the store. I quickly pushed a chair against the door and went to back of the store to hide. I came to this store a few times before ,when my toilet clogged or I needed to buy some tools so I knew the layout and I knew there was a storage room in the back , that¡¯s where I went. As soon as I went inside the storage room I closed the door and immediately dropped down with my back against the door. I was wheezing and coughing, my face felt warm and my arms were tingling. The short run took all I had. I was feeling like my insides were on fire. My physical condition was shit and I knew it. I wont survive for long if I cant even run for 30 seconds without almost passing out. It took me a few minutes to catch my breath and clear my head. I remembered I got a few notifications when I killed that goblin so I went and opened them again.

4 - Prepared Sitting against the door in the pitch black room gave me a moment to calm down and process everything that just happened. The notifications that came up about me leveling and gaining a new skill was the priority for now. I needed to go over everything in detail so I knew what my new class ¡° Legion ¡° was capable of. I went to the skills tab and there it was, my first active skill ¡° Soul Summon ¡° . The skill had a sub skill called ¡°Soul Extract¡± which was also an active skill.
Soul Summon ¨C Active Skill Cast Duration ¨C Instant Mana Required ¨C 100 Mana per summon Rank 1 - 0% Skill Description: You are now able to summon the soul of any living creature you had slain. The more proficient you are with your summons, the skill will grow stronger and be capable of summoning multiple souls at once. Limit: Only truly strong souls will be capable of growth. I was smiling from ear to ear, I gained a very strong skill. If I add the special function of the ring I got from agoda, that makes me a one many army indeed. For every minion I summon , three will be called forth instead. I went ahead and opened the class Tab again and opened my new Class description to see what ¡° Legion¡± entailed and also to spend my new stat points.
¡° Legion ¡° is a never before seen class. By the grace of the divine, the Warrior and Summoner classes have evolved into a singular class. The class possess the Durability and damage output of a Warrior and the summoning ability of the summoner. You are a titan among other classes.
Next I decided to go into my Character Screen in order to spend my points. Usually in the game you gained 5 stat points per level. Due to me being the evolutionary result of two classes I apparently gain 10 points instead. Going over my stats I knew what I needed to focus on right now. My stamina was shit and needed a helping hand. My strength was decent for level 6 so I decided not to invest points in that. Fortitude was also decent for my level but more health was never a bad thing. Adding also to agility would be a good idea as that would improve my overall speed and reaction time. Allocating some points into intellect and wisdom would be smart as well. In the end I added 15 points in Stamina, 15 points to agility , 10 points in Fortitude , 10 points in intellect and wisdom. My current status window was looking pretty decent now.

Satisfied by my awesomeness I now needed to formulate a plan on getting out of here and going to my parents to see how they were doing with all of this. I needed to get myself a weapon first and extract a soul to gain a minion. Wait a minute, the soul of the goblin I killed earlier should still be there I thought to myself . 30 Minutes could not have passed so I should still be able to get to him in time. I opened the door behind me very quietly. I did not hear anything so that means the store should still be safe for now as no monster barged in here yet. I was crouching and heading slowly towards the store entrance in order to get to that goblin body. I needed a weapon first so I went through the home and garden isle and started looking for something that could be considered dangerous. I found a stand with small hatchets and decided to grab a few of those . I used analyze on the hatchet.

I wielded one of them in my hand and put 2 more behind my back. I also saw a few shovels which I could put to good use later . I moved ahead towards the front door and I quickly reached to the front counter right near the door. I raised my head just a tiny bit in order to see out through the window . It was pandemonium , body parts of monsters and humans were littering the ground, screams and roars were coming from everywhere. The front area seemed clear but I could not see the body of the goblin I killed. There was only a small knife at the spot where It died. The time limit was gone by now probably and that must have been the loot drop from the slain monstrosity. I decided to grab that knife as it was very close to the door and there were no monsters I could see close by, as they were still busy killing and eating everything around. I stood up hiding behind the door and slowly opened the door. The knife was 10 feet away at most. I quickly went toward the knife and picked it up , I wanted to get back inside the store before I analyzed the knife. As I was heading inside the door I heard a roar coming from somewhere near. It was so close but I could not see anything near me. I ran inside the store and put the chair back against the door handle. I thought I was safe when all of a sudden I heard a thud and a second later the door shook. Something was crashing against the door trying to break it open. I took a peak out of the window to see what was going on and what I saw is a goblin banging against the door . The goblin was yelling something unintelligent in a weird language and then another goblin suddenly fell from the sky before my eyes. Immediately I put two and two together. Those damn goblins must have been on the roof of the store and saw me go outside. I did not know why they did not see me earlier when I killed that goblin but I did not have time to waste. I Leaned against the door with all my weight in the hopes that the small ugly creatures could not break the door open. That was just wishful thinking . A goblin barreled through the window and fell down behind the counter. The goblins must have seen my indecision as a sign of weakness and started to slowly approach me. I went ahead and threw the hatchet at the unharmed goblin as he was closer to me. The hatchet sank in the goblins groin and the creature screamed as he fell to the ground and started to toss on the floor. Blood was starting to pool under the downed goblin but he was not dead yet. The second goblin was watching the scene with a smirk on he¡¯s ugly face. Before he could make a move I took another hatchet from my back and with the knife in my other hand rushed the warrior goblin. The goblin saw me coming and quickly took the sword he had on he¡¯s back and faced me. I swung the hatchet towards the goblins head but he easily deflected my swing and brought the hilt of the sword straight to me chest. The hit caused me to falter and drop my hatchet. I fell backward , the goblins smirk was still plastered on he¡¯s face as if he was mocking my struggle as insignificant. He slowly started to move towards me while I was crawling away from him. He must have thought that he could kill me at any time so he wanted to play with he¡¯s food. The goblin warrior was making weird cackling sounds, probably laughing at me. He lunged at me in an attempt to stab my lag but I quickly dodged to the left and the sword hit the floor. I swung to the right and used my feet to kick the sword but the goblin quickly lifted the sword and brought it down straight into my shoulder. I screamed and swung the knife in my hand straight at the goblins thigh . The knife got embedded into the goblins leg and I lost grip on the handle. The goblin stumbled backward and I took that chance to get up and run towards the back, the warrior goblin saw me and took chase. I used this chance to get the remaining hatchet from my back and turned around to face the goblin. This time he was more cautious towards me. The fucking goblin was still smirking though, he was bloodied with a knife was stuck in he¡¯s leg but it seemed he didn¡¯t care. I was speechless, this goblin must be insane. A true battle crazy warrior. My options were limited at this point, I knew I could not take him head on. I needed a plan, something that will give me the upper hand. I decided to do something I once saw in a Asian movie, I ran straight at him whilst throwing the hatchet right at him. I know he will deflect that throw , but the throw was just a diversion. The second the goblin raised he¡¯s sword to block the hatchet I was right in front of him and decided to do a front kick to the goblins chest. He went flying backward from the force of the kick. I knew that the kick would not have killed him so I ran and jumped right on top of him. With one hand I grabbed the goblins sword hand and with the other hand I grabbed the goblins hand and brought it under my leg. I was sitting atop the goblin with my weight pinning him down . With my free hand I started to punch the goblin in the face. The goblin was snarling and trying to bite my hand but I kept punching. Punch after punch as the pain from my injured shoulder and bruised hand kept coming at me igniting my hatred to these creatures further and further. The green blood coming from the goblin was coating my hand and shirt at this point but I did not want to stop. After what felt like hours, a bell sound rang in my head and I finally stopped, knowing that the goblin was dead. I have literally smashed the goblin¡¯s head to a bloody pulp. I did not forget about the other goblin that was in the store so I stood up and grabbed the now dead goblins sword and headed toward the injured goblin. The scout was still on the floor with green blood pooled all around him. He saw me coming and terror was written all over him, he was whimpering and crying while trying to crawl away. I knew that I had to kill him. This was the new world. Survival of the fittest and the law of the land. I did not want to take any chance with the goblin. I did not want him to pull a surprise attack on me the same way I did to that warrior goblin earlier. I went to the goblins side and brought the sword down on the goblin¡¯s leg. The leg came off cleanly and the goblin cries just grew louder. I was now sure that the goblin could not pull anything off I stood above the goblin and brought the sword downward with all my strength straight to the goblins neck . The blade pierced the goblin smoothly and even got embedded in the floor underneath. The goblin started making gargling sounds and squirming as he was drowning in he¡¯s own blood. A minute later and the goblin was officially dead , as the bell sound went off in my head. I did not want to waste time and I needed to get my first minion, so I went straight to the goblin warriors body as he was a higher level than the scout and stronger as well. I pointed my palm to the dead goblin warrior and willed the ¡° Soul Extract ¡° to activate. Black and purple mist was now covering the dead goblin as the skill was being channeled. Few seconds later and I got a notification .

The euphoria from gaining my first minion elevated the recent battle fatigue and the pain from my shoulder was dissipating as well. The natural healing regeneration was kicking in. In chaos world health automatically regenerates once you are out of combat. I had 210 health points remaining after the battle so it would take a few minutes to regenerate the damage. I went ahead and opened my main status window to go over the recent notifications that popped during my battle.

As I now had 20 points of stat points to spend I decided to not spend them just yet. I needed to see first how combat alongside my minions will proceed and I could allocate my points accordingly. I now needed to loot the goblins and see what I got from them. While placing my hand on the goblin warrior corpse I said ¡° Loot ¡° . The corpse went up in smoke and a small vial red vial was now in its place. The knife that was embedded in the goblin also dropped to the ground. I went ahead and placed my hand on the goblin scouts corpse and looted it as well. A few silver coins dropped to the ground . I pocketed the coins and went ahead to analyze the loot I received .

I had a good idea to what I could use the dagger for. I went to grab one of the shovels I saw earlier and removed the head to attach the dagger to the body and thus making a makeshift spear out of it , so I went straight ahead and made a crude spear with some rope that was laying around. A bell sound and a notification popped up.

I went ahead and analyzed the spear I just crafted.

The spear was not bad , it had decent damage and the special function of the dagger carried over. I decided to make the spear as I realized that I needed distance between me and the monsters until I could get more skills. I grabbed a backpack that was behind the counter and put a few more hatchets inside of it and 2 hatchets behind my back. I also placed the sword I got from the goblin inside of it, the handle was reachable so I could get a hold of it in a hurry if need be. It was finally time to summon my first minion to the world. I used the ¡° Soul Summon¡± skill and black smoke came out of my hands and three level 15 Black warrior goblins materialized and solidified right in front of my eyes. I was ready now. Ready to leave the store. Ready to grow . Ready to go to my parents. 5 - The Boss Monster Prepared to leave the hardware store, I peaked out of the window to see if there were any monsters close by. The fight earlier should have attracted some attention , but the coast seemed to be clear. I quickly made a mental map of the neighborhood in my head and decided on what would be the most optimal route to my parents house. If I left the store and took a right in the alley and headed all the way to the back, I would come across a second street that would lead me straight to 74th street and continental. That¡¯s where my parents house was located. The only problem with this route was that I would have to go across 11 city blocks which were full with stores and residential buildings. Ordering my minions was a simple matter, all I had to do was think what I wanted them to do and they would do it. I equipped them with some basic weapons. I gave two of them hatchets to carry and I gave the other a rake that was on display in the window. My plan was simple, the goblin with the rake would act as the tank and the other two goblins will be the damage dealers. My plan was to form a dungeon group set up. In order to achieve my goal I still needed to get my hands on a ranged damage dealer , preferably a caster type and a healer type. Goblins had elemental mages and darkened priests in their race so coming across one of those was going to be dangerous yet fortuitous for my plans. We left the store when the coast was still clear , we quickly dashed towards the alley to the right and made a run forward. We needed to get to the back of the alley to check how to situation on the main street. The goblins ran effortlessly as they seemed to posses endless stamina. Surprisingly my stamina and speed seemed to have grown to new heights as I was keeping pace with the minions with little to no effort now. Having 19 stamina and 20 agility was having a significant impact on my body, and the fact that I still had 20 points left to spend after killing those goblins inside the store was making me feel happy for some reason. It seems like I have really came to terms with the new world if I was this excited. Quickly stopping at the end of the street I took the opportunity to distribute my points. Deciding on agility and stamina was no brainer for me. Being faster and being able to maintain a constant movement was what¡¯s important for the situation at hand. I quickly added 10 points to stamina and 10 points to agility.

Since I was done with my stat points, I ordered one of the hatchet carrying goblins to go take a look ahead and relay what he finds. I realized earlier that the minions have very basic mental capacity and can telepathically relay what they see and they are incapable of speech . I needed to test the telepathic link further and see what was the range on this ability and how to better utilize that , but that was a worry for another time. A few minutes passed and the goblin I sent ahead came back and relayed what he saw. There were a few monsters here and there along the street, a few goblins and a few mutated humanoids. Thinking that we can handle small numbers we moved to the corner of the street and saw that there was a goblin standing in the middle of the street, I decided to quickly take care of that goblin by luring him into an ambush. I ordered my three goblins to stay where they were and I moved ahead so I was in clear view of the lone goblin. I used analyze on the goblin
[ Goblin Warrior Level 13 ]
The goblin saw me and made horrible shrieking sound and dashed straight towards me. When the goblin was getting closer to me, I quickly ran to the alley and moved behind the three stationed goblins. As soon as the warrior goblin came into view I ordered my minions to kill the monster. The fight was quick and brutal, the lone goblin stood no chance whatsoever . The three minions pounced on the warrior according to the formation I mentally transmitted to them. The rake wielding goblin was in the middle and the hatchet goblins were standing behind him. The chasing goblin first went to target the rake goblin and as soon as the rake goblin was holding him at place by piercing him in the stomach with the twisting metal that was at the end of the rake, the other two goblins joined the fight , each goblin from the right and the left. The fight was quick and brutal. I was forced to order the goblins to stop attacking, it seemed that if I did not give the command they would have continued to attack until there was nothing left of the poor green monster. The head of the dead warrior was laying in a pool of blood and guts and surprisingly this view didn¡¯t make me uncomfortable in any way. ¡° Ah I am getting too used to this new world¡± I thought to myself again. I went ahead and touched the severed head of the goblin and thought ¡° Loot ¡° . Few copper coins dropped and a healing vial which I pocketed and put in my backpack. There were items that were similar to ¡° Inventory¡± that most other games had , but they were either drops or sold at the auction house of major cities in the form of Adventurer backpacks. This new world should also have auction houses, I just needed to find out where they were located. Deciding that the current monsters were not a serious threat I ordered my minions to stand in front of me and slowly walk up the street, we could handle one or two monsters at a time at this point and I wanted to get moving faster. We continued the farm¡­err hunt for an hour straight, I acted as the bait and drew monsters into our well oiled formation over and over again. The monsters here were low level so I couldn¡¯t get a better soul to harvest just yet as most did not pass the level 15 mark. I did gain another level so that was great as I was now at level 9 and had 10 points to spend. Spending the points could wait for now as we continued forward. We arrived to 71st street and continental , this was a very busy four way intersection with massive amount of shops on the other side of the street. The former bustling area was now dead of activity and an eerie silence stood as the street was littered with useless cars and body parts of both humans and monsters. Something caught my attention across the street so I decided to silently approach the other side. Taking cover behind the cars we moved forward cautiously. When we arrived to the last truck that was right at the end of the crossroad I saw the first human since this apocalypse began. The human was sitting against a lamp post right near the crossroad, the guy was a young, probably in his mid twenties, he had a nasty gash on the side of his face that looked very similar to a claw mark. His chest was slowly heaving it seems that he was still alive. As I decided to move towards the young man I heard footsteps coming from the right side of the street, I was hidden behind the truck with my minions so I could not see what was coming but the footsteps indicated that there were at least a few of them. Few seconds later I saw five goblins coming to a stop near the young man. They grabbed his legs and were now dragging him toward the direction in which they came from. This situation was weird since all that monsters did up until this point was to immediately kill any human they saw with prejudice. This situation demanded investigation so I decided to follow them from a distance while taking cover behind vehicles along the way. Few minutes later the goblins stopped in front of a small coffee shop and dragged the man inside. I did not want to be rash and follow them inside so I decided to go to a better spot to be able to see inside the store. I noticed that there was yellow cab right in front of the coffee shop so I ordered my minions to remain where they were and I silently crouched and reached my destination . Inside the shop there were at least 10 goblins inside standing over three bound humans lying on the floor. There were two man, one of them was the guy from earlier and one female, they were alive as I could hear whimpering and sobbing sounds coming from them. Two goblins were standing guard over the humans while their companions were sitting near a fire in the corner of the store . The goblins around the fire were busy eating the meat that was roasting on the fire when a loud roar came from inside the store . A huge goblin the size of an adult human male came out of the back of the store and slapped a goblin that was busy eating . The pissed off goblin hissed and shrieked toward the offending goblin. It seemed that the big goblin did not take to that kindly as the next thing he did was to grab the goblin by the throat and proceeded to crush the windpipe of the small goblin. The big goblin tossed the body of the goblin and sat at the middle of the group of goblins, he took a piece of meat from the fire and proceeded to join the rest in eating.If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. [Jaduk, Level 25Goblin] War-chief
This war chief was a named monster, meaning he was boss rank as also indicated by thegolden color of his name. Immediately I began to formulate ideas on how to defeat the group inside the store, not because I wanted to save the semi dead humans but because I wanted that big beautiful goblins soul. That was a boss rank monster, which means that if I gained his soul, he would most likely be capable of growth. I moved back toward my stationed minions and ordered them to follow me as I headed toward the middle of the intersection to find a place to sit down and solidify my plan to eradicate that goblin horde. I have to use the tools at my disposal , and in contrast to the game, this was real life. Meaning that I could use the environment to my advantage. There are cars all over the place which I can use as explosives. All I needed to do was open a few gas tanks on the cars and wet the ground with kerosene followed by drawing that horde towards such an ambush would result in instant goblin BBQ. Remembering that there was a liquor store close by I headed there immediately. I needed to some supplies to help me with my plan. The liquor store doors were open but there were no signs that someone has been here before me. The shelfs still were full with the usual assortment of booze and nothing seemed out of place. I went ahead and grabbed a multiple vodka bottles and emptied them on the spot. What I needed were empty bottles to make into improvised Molotov cocktails as backup . Using the fuel from the cars in the cocktails was better than using the alcohol itself. I also found a hose to use in syphoning the fuel from the cars. Before leaving the store I took a few lighters that were on the counter and I grabbed a few packs of Madburo cigarettes that were behind the counter on the wall. Testing the lighter I found out that they were useable as apparently mechanical items still worked in the new world. My plan was in motion, I filled a few bottles with kerosene from a nearby car , I used rags which I found in that same car as the ignition part of the explosive. As soon as I finished making the Molotov cocktails a bell sound went in my head and immediately analyzed the bottle.

The flame cocktails turned out to be quite deadly. I will need to use them wisely. Next on the agenda was planning the location for the ambush for the goblin horde. After looking around for a short while I found the idea location. There were six cars parked quite close to each other with a small area in between them, and since there were no nearby cars it would mean that the explosions would not spread out. I opened the cars gas tanks and with the hose drained some fuel to wet the car itself and a small trail leading to the other cars as well. My plan was to place two minions underneath the cars on either side of the car encirclement and have them ignite the fire with the lighters I got earlier from the liquor store. Since the preparations were now finished I ordered the remaining goblin to stay close to me at all times. This is a huge risk I am taking here, but the prospect of possessing a boss soul was more then worth the risk and if my actions would lead me to saving those tied up people in the store that could be a bonus as well. I went to the front of the store and hid behind the same car as before. I took out two cocktails from my backpack and placed one of them on the ground while I lit the other one and stood up. The War- Chief immediately spotted me and I decided to recuperate the stare with the loudest roar that I could. The entire goblin horde stood up and turned towards me and took off in a run at my direction. I waited for a few seconds and as soon as the entire horde was halfway from my location I tossed the cocktail right in the middle of their group. I grabbed the other cocktail from the ground and took off in a run towards the ambush site. I did not turn back to see the damage I caused but I could hear the painful shrieks and unintelligible yelling from them. Getting to the ambush site took me a few minutes and I could still hear the goblins chasing me, they were a decent distance away from me but still on my tail. I got to a safe distance away from the car encirclement and turned around. The goblins were about to reach the spot so I ordered the goblin that was with me to go and stand in front of me. The goblin war-chief was leading the charge, he appeared to sustain some small amount of burn damage from my earlier attack and he looked pissed off and angry. Angrier then what most goblins usually looked like. The second the horde got to the ambush area I ordered the two goblins to light up the fire. All it took was a second for the fire to spread all over the cars on either side of the horde . The war-chief immediately stopped and tried to turn around however the horde was right behind him so he was unable to move, that was all the time it took for the cars to explode. Bell Sounds went off in my head but I ignored them for now. The sound of the explosion was deafening and the shockwave from the explosion tossed me back for quite a distance. My body was battered but I could still move so I stood up and saw goblins running while they are caught on fire only to fall after a short distance, the other goblins were not as lucky as there was only body parts left of them. The war-chief appeared to have survived the fight alongside the darkened priest. They looked to be half dead but still alive. The war-chiefs health and defense must have kept him alive whilst the priest used a defensive spell to survive the explosion. Killing the priest first was a priority as I couldn¡¯t afford him healing the war-chief. I analyzed the priest and saw that his health bar was blinking red. All I needed was one good hit and he would die but the problem was that he was on his knees behind the war-chief coughing and holding his severed leg. I had to use this opportunity quickly so I ordered my minion to go and engage the war-chief even to buy me a few seconds to light the cocktail in my hand. While my minion dashed toward the war-chief I lit and tossed the cocktail towards the priest. The war-chief was faster though. He grabbed a dead goblins body and tossed it toward the incoming cocktail. The impact of the cocktail with the dead goblin body caused the explosion to take place midair. Deciding to not let what just happened get to me I quickly grabbed two hatchets from my backpack and took a stance. I was going to wait for my minion to draw the attention of the war-chief to allow me to take a good swing towards the priest. My minion did not disappoint, he ran straight at the towering goblin with his rake at hand. I took off running towards the priest the second the war-chief and my minion collided. Getting a decent running start I hurled the hatchet right at the priest but the priest quickly used his defensive spell and the hatchet bounced off of him. I didn¡¯t despair, I saw that the priest was at his last leg as he fell forward barely able to hold himself upward with his hands. I took aim with my second hatchet and threw it with all the strength I could muster. The throw was perfect as the hatchet buried itself right at the goblins face , causing the goblins head to split from the impact. Things were looking good or so I thought . The war-chief, even though he was battered and bruised quickly took care of my minion, killing him in seconds by simply punching the goblin to death which caused the minion to vanish in a puff of smoke. I was now facing the war-chief alone, all I had left was my spear, sword and the remaining Molotov cocktails. I was out of hatchets so I could not make this a ranged fight. The war-chief seemed to half about a fourth of his life remaining so I had to take it down as soon as possible. Jaduk was walking towards me now, he was limping so I was able to maintain a small distance between us. I decided to shave his health a bit more by taking my spear and tossing it right at him in a javelin throw. The monster decided to ignore the spear toss and blocked it with his arm. He thought that the spear was my last attempt before he would kill me. He was sorely mistaken, and should have avoided the spear because my goal was not to inflict a killing blow but inflict the special function of the spear which was a bleeding effect .

The war-chief must have noticed the debuff he now as he started to snarl and yell , he was foaming at the mouth from his anger towards me. He tried to pick up his pace while I took the sword from my backpack and maintained my distance. My plan went smoothly up until the point where a half dead goblin came out of nowhere and tackled me to the ground. The goblin was badly hurt so all it took was a stab to the stomach to kill off the goblin which was followed by a bell sound. The problem was that by the time I managed to get the goblin off of me the war-chief was right on top of me. Jaduk tried to stomp me but I managed to dodge to the left , right at the path of his follow up kick right to my stomach which was so strong that caused me to slide on the asphalt for a few feet . The air got sucked out of me and I couldn¡¯t breath, I was coughing and trying to breath. Jaduk grabbed me by my hair and lifted me up which caused me to yell out in pain but that was what also allowed me to finally take a breath of air. All I could think about was that I was not going to die today, so out of desperation I dug my fingers at Jaduks eyes . The sudden attack caused the monster to tumble back and fall. I was now on top of him still digging my fingers deeper and deeper when the monster tossed me with his massive strength right at the windshield of a nearby car. The impact was painful and I saw that my health was blinking red. ¡° This is how I die I thought to myself¡± while lying on the broken windshield unable to move from the pain and exhaustion. I waited there for what seemed to be ages but death did not come for me. What greeted me was the sound of the sweetest sound In the world. The bell. Jaduk was dead and I was alive. I needed to go and get his soul immediately so I managed to drink the health vial from my backpack which gave immediate relief. I got off the car and got to the dead body of the toughest bastard I faced so far in the new world. I used Soul Extract and the familiar black and purple smoke engulfed the war-chief. A few seconds later a notification popped up.
