《Wishstealer》 Prologue: The Girl Lost To Herself In the kingdom of Moraxxes, there is a great wonder. It is Veranes, the academy city, named after its creator over 900 years ago, on top of a great source of power. It is an Academy ruled by its headmaster and his board of adventurers and heroes. It is capable of holding up to 10,000 students within its residential districts, has its own commercial districts, and various other places, all centred around the gigantic, awe-inspiring building in the middle, The Academy Building. It teaches all manner is students, from many countries and kingdoms, pledging allegiance to no-one, not even its host kingdom, of which it exists on the border. It teaches students what they will need to know about life, about adventure, about swords, about bows, about magic, and aims to raise people to be the best they can be. It is within this academy, that one student, a noble girl, will have an event that will both change, and end, her life... *First Person, Seraphina Evermore''s POV* "Alone again huh?"I quietly mutter to myself, while everyone in the restaurant gibbers away. "Hey isn''t that that Evermore girl?" "How did she even get into this academy?l "I bet her parents used their clout to get rid of her in here" Of course, as soon as people actually notice I''m here, the ridicule begins. I quickly begin to finish my meal in order to get out of this place. Luckily you pay to get your meal here, and not have to pay afterwards. It means my escape can be fast. "Hey, it must be hard being ridiculed so openly eh? I''ll help you out if ya want." Came a gruff, confident male voice to my left. I instantly sharpen my eyes and look at him with suspicion. He was a bulky man, easily my height and a half more, and looked like your typical "alpha". "Oh?" I elude, as to wait and see what the catch of his oh so innocent offer was. "Yeah, I''ll help ya...If ya kneel before me and lick my boots!" He shouted out, to which he, and everyone else in the restaurant started laughing. Feeling anger and fury well up inside me, I made the sensible decision. I don''t care whether or not I payed for that meal or not. And so I stood up, and left. "You''re right! My boots are too good to be licked by trash like you!" He shouted after me, which elicited and other round of laughter from the other patrons, I just hurried away faster upon leaving the restaurant. This has been my life since I joined this Abyssal Academy six months ago. My name is Seraphina Evermore. The one amazing thing about my is that I have an affinity towards every type of magic. Though that list stops about there. My affinities for them are low enough that I can just about learn basic spells, and physically, I''m not much better, having been sheltered most my life. It quickly became apparent among my family that despite being of noble blood, I was mostly useless, so they decided to get rid of me by sending me here. Of course, my uselessness followed me here too. I have no idea why I was accepted. All the headmaster had told me was that I "was sure to have an interesting fate".Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. Walking through the cobbled street that was illuminated by a setting sun, I took note of my surroundings. The buildings in Veranes were of amazing architecture their stones red in the twilight glow. At day, they would return to being pure beacons of architectural impossibility. However, they all paled in comparison to my current destination. With walls of its own, standing high above all other buildings of Veranes, was the Academy Building. The main one people came for Veranes for, if you will. Standing kilometres high into the sky, and just as wide, it was truly a sight to behold. As I entered through the front gate into the courtyard, it was a couple of hundred meters until you reached the front door. The courtyard itself was just filled with grass, and the off flower, nothing particularly special. I continued walking to my destination. Upon entering through the door to the academy, I used my memory, and various maps, in order to find the place I wanted to go. I did not get lost. One such as I does not get lost. I found my destination, a large stone door with blue grass growing out from underneath it, within an unused part of the academy. The door had a single eye carved as decoration, with a large slitted pupil. For some reason, ever since I stumbled across this door on one of my "explorations"(I repeat, I was not lost, no matter how much people would tell you otherwise), I felt drawn to it. As if it acknowledged me. Today, I was going to find out why lay beyond this portal to the unknown and make it known. I moved up to the door, and as if expecting me, it glowed yellow, and then opened. I readied myself for what lay beyond. As the door shifted, my ocular sense was gifted with the sight of a cave leading down, with blue grass upon the floor and the odd pastel flower. I resolutely continued inwards, and once I passed the threshold, the door closed behind me, and glowed a sickly yellow again. "Ok, so I''m trapped. That''s not fun..." I muttered to myself, as there was no-one else to speak to. I continued to descend deeper into the cave, which seemed to be magically locked up tight. Usually, this would be cause for alarm, enough to say turn back now. I however, felt no choice but to push on. And was I glad I did. I came across a small grove, with the bottom filled with the blue grass and flowers pastel, the place lit up as if it were day, the pool in the background. However, upon entering the grove, that''s when everything turned for the worse. I felt a great deal of magic power crash down on me, almost killing me with shock. I looked towards the centre of the grove, where there stood a small altar. Upon this altar I was drawn to an eye, coloured yellow of pus and ichor, attached to a handle, ornate blue and purple, with a grip of black. Attached to the eye, perpendicular to the handle, was a large curved blade of yellow, similar in colour to the eye, if only texture more like crystal than slime, with the beginnings of the blade held more by the ornate blue and purple material. The single slitted pupil stared deeply at me, and I heard a voice reverberate round the grove, thougbi was sure it came from the...thing before me. "Mortal...I am Vala, The Wishstealer. Take me up in arms, and pay the ultimate price, and i shall grant you your greatest desire!" Reverberated the demonic voice, and I felt myself drawn to the handle. The thing I now recognised as a scythe also seemed to be willing me away, but the force dragging me in was far greater. Any wish...My greatest desire...I''ve already lost so much, there''s not much more I could lose... I felt my mind go blank as my hands took the handle, and with surprising ease, released the blade. The scythe then proceeded to flip through the air beyond my grip, and hover, the blade pointed menacingly at me. It''s at this point I realised what it meant by the ultimate price... I guess this is how I go... "I only wanted friends, people I could trust..." we''re my last words before the scythe came spinning down and pierced my heart. Everything quickly went black, and I heard a morose, mournful version of that demonic voice call out, "Then I shall grant thine wish..." Prologue: The Scythe Lost To Wishes Within the kingdom of Moraxxes, lies the great academy city of Veranes. Deep within the hallowed walls of its most hallowed building, within the deepest bowels of this wonder, one could hear soft crying. This sign of grief came from a lone girl, curled on the floor, her long and numerous purple hair laying on the blue grass floor, her emerald eyes glazed over within the throbs of grief. In her hands, she held a scythe, of such demonic beauty, one might feel sinful being drawn to look upon it. "W-w-why?" Came pained utterance from the girl''s mouth, "why couldn''t you have just stayed away?", before once more losing any semblance of control through the throb of emotion now within. *First Person, Vala''s POV, not long before* "Hummmdedummmdeduuummdedoooom~" I started humming out. I was trying to make a new track for which to hum within my excessive exile into boredom. "Ahhhhh, Vala Vala, you certainly chose an idiotic place to seal yourself away now didn''t you?" I inquired to myself, making a statement I had made many times before to myself. I was getting quite annoyed with me, constantly trying to say the same things to me as if i didn''t know what I already knew. I was talking to myself after all. Alas, not many can remain sane after sealing themselves off for a millennia in a small, albeit beautiful, grove. Hey! Since im talking to myself again (for the 1000th time or so), I should reintroduce myself. "Hello me! I''m Vala, The Wishstealer! I''m a simple overpowered abyssal scythe with a crippling amount of self-loathing. Isn''t that fun! Even if crippling is a bit excessive! Don''t try to wield me though, because I''ll just steal your body and soul, and make you my personal puppet! HUZZAH!" I shouted in jubilation, rising the pitch of my inflection upwards towards the end of each sentence. Made me sound happy. I like that. I need happy. "*sigh* I really have been here far too long." I mutter to myself. "I really wish something interesting would happen, at the very least..."This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. And instantly, I knew I would regret those words. Within the entrance to the grove appeared a beautiful girl, probably of noble birth. Her long purple hair cascaded down her back, and seemed to ''poof'' outwards around her, and looked slightly messy, but in a way that showed purpose and elegance, more than ineptitude or lack of effort. Her green emerald eyes, were round and sparkly as she took in the beauty of my grove. Something told me for some reason, that that was probably not how her eyes normally looked. Her fair skin, a perfect canvas for her face, which was framed by the purple hair, where a few tufts came down to just above her nasal bridge, but not covering her eyes. She was on the smaller side, couldn''t of been more than 160 or so cm. She wore what seemed to be a uniform, with a white shirt, and a brown jumper/blazer, and a skirt that seemed to reach somewhere just above her knees, with white socks that came half way up her thigh, with plain shoes on. Her clothes certainly didn''t reduce from her slightly larger than proportional bust, or her curvaceou- and I''m just going to stop there. Don''t want you thinking that I''m a pervert right now. It is strange now that I think of it now though. In the 20 or so lives I''ve lived in the millennia and a half before my imprisonment, how come they''ve all been male... strange. As she came closer into the light, I noticed the large fluffy fox ears, and the fluffy fox tail, both purple, and mesmerizing. I have no idea how i missed that. But wait... she was approaching. This is bad! If she gets any closer, she''ll enter an area of hyper-condensed Abyssal magic. If she doesn''t die from that, she''ll be drawn to me and die from my nature. "DONT COME ANY CLOSER!" I call out to her, but too late. In the time it took for me to realize this fault, she had already entered my sealing grounds. I could visibly see the shock of all the magic burdening down upon her, but she managed to survive. No doubt now, that the magic which has crept out of me this entire time is trying to drag her to pick me up. "STOP!" I tried to shout as she slowly made her way towards me. I continue to try and push her away, shout her away, warn her away, but she keeps advancing, and, after a millennia of feeling nothing but grass, stone and air, I feel the caressing of flesh upon my handle. As she lifts me, by a power beyond my control, due to its intrinsic nature within me, I am instantly relieved from her grasp, and fly up into the air, my blade now pointing directly at her heart, to which she seems to resign to her fate. "I only wanted friends, people I could trust..." I heard her mutter in a melodious voice. As my blade came down upon her and stabbed her heart, I tried my hardest to pull back. But to no avail. I felt my "self" force its way into the place of her soul, and as she lost consciousness, I could think of one thing to say. "Then I shall grant thine wish..." Chapter 1: The Scythe Who Seeks Help It took a while for me to finally get my emotions back under control. Using myself as support, I forced the Vulpine''s body to a sit. I could still feel the tears down her cheek, the rattling of guilt in her heart. "I guess I''m doing this again huh?" I forced her mouth to speak, as I stared upon my abyssal self. First time connection was always hardest. I''d learnt cutting off my ocular sense as a scythe helped, meaning the yellow orbs I knew as my eyes were sealed by grey metal. In this state, I could only perceive the world through her senses. It felt strange, to actually feel again. As a scythe, I could feel things like a pressure hitting me, but there was no texture, no actual feelings that the beings of flesh had. I''ll admit to being a small amount happy to have sensation again, but it still was outclassed by my grief. "So let''s see who I am then, I guess..." I again forced her mouth to say in melancholy. Due to absorbing the soul of my host, I also gained access to any abilities that soul contained, as well as memories. Wait... something''s not right here... "My name is... Seraphina...Seraphina who...? Seraphina Evermore...I''m a Vulpine, a Vixen if we go with gender denomination,, but I don''t need her memories for that. I am a noble? That seems about right... and there seems to be a lot of pain... but where are most of her memories?! I''ve only got the basics!" I started to panic out.... before stopping. I looked down and (while hiding my blush) took a look at the top of her chest through the hole I had made by stabbing her. My mark was there, in all its murky, sandstony yellow, a runic abstract image of an eye, with eyes around it, with lines leading down from the main one and flick out, each eye filled with a blank slit pupil, with no straight lines. I had seen this mark many times before. It was what marked someone as my wielder. So why couldn''t I access her memories. Her soul has definitely been replaced by my "self", the mark being quite enough evidence of that. So I obviously shattered her soul... but failed to absorb it... Wait... could that mean "SHE''S STILL ALIVE?!" I felt myself say in her voice. Maybe my holding back did some good. Despite her soul being shattered, there is a chance that it can be repaired. I have no idea what would happen to me if that were to happen, but I don''t care. If it means I can save her life, then I''d be willing to do anything. "Let''s see what else I know then..." I say before looking through the little I knew. It seems that she has a very minor affinity towards all types of Mortal magic... wait, this isn''t in her memories but I swear... in order to survive the amount of Abyssal magic in this room, she''d need to be at the top end of Abyssal affinity. Something to think about later I suppose. "What else...?" Ah, it seems she is a first year in Veranes, just turning 16 a little time ago. Veranes is a massive academy city, and from what I can understand, seems to be built on top of my sealing ground...sheesh, who could be so idiotic. Wait... an ARCHMAGE is the headmaster?! That''s...that''s very good! If anyone would be able to fix her soul and find a way to break me, an Archmage would! That''s my goal then, get in contact with the Archmage of this school as quickly as possible. I''ll save you yet, Seraphina. I decided to stand up. I started a bit wobbly, using my real self as a support. It was slow and shaky, as despite the body and its mind being used to standing up, I wasn''t. I was still getting used to all the sensations that are new to me even despite my past lives. Most notable was the weight on my chest, the lack of anything between my legs, the large bundle of fluff coming out of my tailbone, and the large ears that constantly moved to sound on top of my head, rather than on the side. It was all very strange. "Abyss:Seal" I muttered after I was happy I was able to stand on my own. My real self suddenly turned to yellow dust and entered the mark on my chest. Suddenly the pupils were filled in, and the mark looked like there was something wriggling imperceptibly underneath it. I had no idea how people here would react to something like me, so it''s probably best to hide myself for now. Next I should repair these clothes i ruined. I at least know something of decency. And that''s that wrecked clothes are a no go. "Terras:Repair" I again muttered, and the hole I had created sealed up, leaving no trace, and allowing no one to see my mark underneath it. The last thing will be that her left eye has turned my shade of yellow, meaning that ill need to repress letting my power flow freely. With this all done, other than being a tad messy, it looked like I was just as normal as ever. And when did I start referring to this body as mine? Oh well, it saves me trouble, so I won''t force myself not to. "Wonder how long it''ll be before I''m back here. It has been a millennia since I was last outside here. It might''ve been boring, but you were still home. I guess I''ll see you later" I said while waving goodbye to the grove that, at some point down the line, I had come to see as home. I silently (or as silently as moving through plant matter and stone allows one) moved back through the entrance my new host had come, with hope for the future ahead of me. I had three things I need to do. One, figure out how to save this girl. Two, figure out how to change my nature, or how to destroy me. Three, complete this girl''s stolen wish. That should be easy enough... Argh, who am I kidding. This is going to take a while. Might as well get started now. I soon came upon the door to my home, and for the first time in hours, it opened. I guess saying the second time after a millennia is more dramatic, but what can you do. Stepping out to the other side, I instantly started coughing. "So...dusty" It seems I had gotten a bit too used to the clean air of my grove for the few hours I could actually taste it. The air out here is much thicker, and probably only less heavy due to my grove being stocked full of hypercondensed Abyssal magic. To me though, this air was heavier, due to the passive resistance to Abyssal magic I have. The room itself was dimly lit, though my Vulpine eyes could see perfectly, filled with small stone shelves that held nothing but pottery and cobwebs, all long abandoned. There was a single entrance, that lead out to a bright lit hallway, the entrance marked with magic, probably some form of perception blocking. As I stepped out of the hallway, I noticed it was scarcely populated, the red walls probably denoting the area of the building it was a part of. Hopefully it meant ''DANGER!'' and our foxy friend here just was a bit silly. I''d hate to think that a magically sealed door and perception blocking was literally the only safeguard they had against me. It would kind of ruin my pride as a highly destructive and dangerous weapon. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. Putting aside dangerous thoughts, I decided it would be best to find this ''headmaster'' before it gets too late. As a Vulpine, I should be able to stay awake far longer than regular humans or elves and the somesuch, but it comes with the downside of having to sleep it off for longer. Of course, I could be wrong, as my knowledge of the race is purely from an outside view, but naaaaah. It can''t be anything else right? Anyhow, I''ve been walking for a while now, maybe about ten minutes, and I still haven''t found anything of note. The hallway just seems to curve ever onwards. Surely... it can''t be... did my host have a terrible sense of direction? If so, that''s bad, that''s very bad. That means currently, I have a terrible sense of direction... but it seems I can always tell which way is north. That is silly. Finally coming across a map on the wall, I find to my relief that I merely need to turn right to get to the outer sections. Upon doing this, the walls turn to a more wooden material, at least on the inside with long Windows lining it every so often. Around here, there was a plenty amount of people, and this made me nervous. So far however, none of them seemed to have noticed anything off about me, and I just blended in seamlessly into the crowd. I continued walking and was able to pick up on several conversations. Probably due to these large Fox ears of mine. There were many conversations about. Like who''s the strongest, the newest make-up, some sort of summoned hero, some form of new abyss being found, having people help with homework. None of these things particularly seemed important, so I continued on. I could see the doors that lead to stairs in my sight, so I soon knew I would be at my destination. "Well, if it isn''t little miss trash" came a burly voice from behind, as a large gloved hand grabbed my shoulder. I couldn''t help but feel incredibly creeper out. "Did you think you could just disappear all night and get away with it, little crybaby?" Wait night?! Looking out the window, I did indeed see it was morning. I swear it was the evening when she grabbed me... then I was wallowing in self-pity for that long!? Sheepish, I need to get myself together. "What? Too scared to say anything? I would be too if I were you. After all, the weak has to fear the strong." I hear him whisper next to where my ear would be as a human. HA! Fear you? You can''t even tell my ears on top of my head, and to top it all off, I contain more magic in one square centimetre of my blade than you do in your entire body! I guess this guy is a source of Seraphina''s pain. That means I''ll have to deal with him eventually. But right now, I''ve got something more important to do. "SPEAK TERRASDAMMIT! I''M TALKING TO YOU!" He roared when he realized I hadn''t replied. Oh yeah. You''re meant to do that in conversations between flesh. Make noise. "I''m sorry, but I''ve got more important things to do than deal with people too engrossed in their own delusions of grandeur." Is all I say, and his face starts steaming. I should probably eject before he gets violent. "WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU MANGY MUTT! I''LL KILL YOU!" He shouts, foregoing holding me for pointing at me. "I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL, RIGHT HERE RIGH-" "No thanks" I merely say as I start walking away. This just seems to break him, as he just stands there, trying to catch flies, as if he hasn''t realized what has happened. I can''t help but giggle to myself, and some strange sense of elation comes from seeing him like this. I then swiftly start ascending the stairs, floor by floor, so that he won''t follow in case he somehow fixes himself. All the shocked looks on the people''s faces were priceless. I quickly ascend the stairs in order to reach the top floor. On the top floor, I just notice the room looks like a large plate. It was designed with red and ornate gold. In the centre was a lone spiral staircase. With nothing much else to look at in this room I quickly ascended the spiral staircase, which lead to a lone wooden door. This out of place door was locked shut, and had many powerful enchantments on it. I see no way I''m going to particularly get away with breaking down this door, no matter if I can do it or not. Which means i have to do that thing that flesh beings do. What was it called again? Ah yes, knocking. "Come on in!" Came quite the young sounding voice from the other side, before I even managed to start knocking. I, of course, obliged, opening the door to find it unlocked. As I stepped through the unassuming portal, I expected to be greeted by an old man with a long grey beard, and some young servant. I did not expect to see a young man with a grey beard with an old man as a servant. It kind of threw me off. I took in the dark room. It was circular, in the fact that it wrapped around the column in the middle. The walls were made of stone brick, and the floor was carpeted. There were tables littered with tools and equipment, and stacks of messy paper with varying amount of dust on them. The room was filled with strange alchemical steam and sounds, and my nose felt irritated, and I could feel my ears flop down onto my head, so that nothing would get inside. Just the thought of that made me feel weird. Eewwwwww. "Seraphina, isn''t it? What brings you here?" The young man inquired, while somehow switching on the lights. This caused me to have to shut my eyes, as my now quilted light sensitive eyes adjusted. "No. That''s not quite right is it? I should say be saying Vala, The Wishstealer of the Abyss." I was instantly on alert when he said this, and I could literally feel his smug grin. He turned to me, his amber eyes pointing in the now lit up room, his silver hair slicked back. His beard had no length, though I knew this, and his face was the very definition of ''so I''m correct''. "How do you know?" Was all I was able to mutter out in a moment of brilliance. I was met with an increase of intensity from the smirk. "The fact that this place was built around you is knowledge that has been passed down between headmasters since the inception of this academy. You could say it is this academy''s greatest secret. I saw Seraphina enter through there when she tripped the alarm spells. She came out again, and acted strangely. Hence I could only assume it was you..." he let every word hang on the air. I was trapped, and he knew it. There was no way out, and I had no idea of his capabilities. Fighting him her would be stupid. I''ll have to find some way to distract him and th- "So what can I help you with?" He said sitting down, his tone now taking one of cheerful countenance. If I was drinking I was sure I''d do a spit-take. I managed to catch myself however. "*ahem*, I have reason to believe the Seraphina girl is alive" I say, putting on as much of a holier than thou act as possible, trying to gain some control of the situation. "Ah so you are keeping her hostage then?" Was all he said, and I instantly broke my act. "Wha-no-what? NEVER!" Was what came out of my mouth in the next second. I could see the amusement clear on his face. I seem to still lack control over the emotions I gained by controlling flesh beings over the years, and this body certainly isn''t making it any easier. Yes, let''s blame that, and not my incompetence. "I merely want to request your help in saving her, her soul has been shattered, and i care not what happens to me, as long as she is returned to herself." He seemed to ponder his actions for a while. "A spell to heal a soul shattered by the Abyss? Such a thing does not exist. You are basically requesting I make a new spell out of nothing? I can try, yes, but you need to do something for me as well." He suddenly gave me a stern serious look. "And what would that be?" I asked, suddenly feeling great unease. "You will continue Seraphina''s life here at the school, and you will help the summoned hero." Was all he said. "I''m sure it will help with the wish you''ve stolen." How much did this guy know? It was starting to severely creep me out. "I can understand the first one, but why would you want me to help a summoned hero? Why is there even a summoned hero?" We''re the thoughts I voiced. He wiped a speck of dust off his red robe before continuing. "The Abyss has been acting as if being controlled. The attacks are growing more precise, and Voids seem to be evolving at a rapid rate. This can only mean one thing. An Abyss King has been bought into existence" And just like that... ...I felt the weight of the world. Chapter 2: The Scythe Who Meets A Hero Stumbling back through the halls of the academy building, I couldn''t help but feel a large, oppressive aura within me. The information that has now been granted me rising up and killing any chance I had of a jovial mood. "Abyss King, huh?" I muttered out. The existence responsible for my creation. I would not say I am a force of good. Quite the opposite, actually. I am a force of ruin. Nor do I dislike the murky depths of my original home. Quite the opposite really, I miss them. No, it''s none of those. The Abyss King, is the one thing I fear above all else. "And now I have to fight him? Are you mad? What creation can fight against their creator?" I whisper in anger towards the archmage. However, I have no choice but to accept. I already said I''d do anything to save Seraphina, regardless of myself, so I''ve dug this hole already. No-one is going to make a liar out of me! I slap my cheeks with my hands, which was surprisingly soft, and and tried to egg myself up. That''s right, I''ve got a job to do, and being depressed is not going to help in any way shape or form, unless that form is some form of murderous weapon. From what I understand, classes start soon, and I am to be attending those. The last time I attended school was... ummm... never? Oh no. I know how this ends. I finally managed to find the room my class would be in, no thanks to my awful sense of direction. I have memories that Seraphina always sits towards the back, so I shall do the same for now. First rule of making friends, see who can be approached. Hopefully not everyone is like that goliath boy. Finally mustering my courage and putting on an air of indifference, I open the door to the classroom and enter. As I do so, the room goes quiet. Already I hear mutterings about how weak I was, or how I had no talents or positives. I tried my best to refrain from lashing out at those who were harming my pride as literally one of the most dangerous weapons alive. Well okay, not alive, but conscious. The classroom itself was a simple auditorium, where the teacher would stand down the bottom front, while chairs looked like stairs if it wasn''t for the desks in front of them. There were three sections, the middle and the sides, all separated by actual stairs, and not seat stairs. The middle was by far the largest, and where most people were, with smaller groups being on the sides. I went up to an isolated position on the side closest to the door, and sat down. I had little idea what to do next, but luckily, that''s when the teacher came in. He was tall, wearing a large coat that was cream in colour, with yellow trims. He wore a thick jumper underneath, with some armour. His pants were baggy, the type to be mobile and insulated, and he wore boots. He had a simple sword on a belt underneath his jacket, which, before I forget to mention, goes down to his knees, and you could tell he was well built. He was older looking, with blond hair, a short blond beard, almost just stubble, and piercing blue eyes. He just screamed adventurer. However, the thing that sent me most off about him, was this strange feeling of familial warmth coming from inside. Obviously, whoever this person was, Seraphina trusted and liked them. That was further cemented by how he smiled sincerely when he looked in my direction, and despite the anger and shame that had built up from the people muttering in the class, my emotions seemed to be put at rest. He cleared his throat, both as a signal to silence conversation, and to announce he was to start speaking.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. "Good morning class! Today I have some exciting news!" His voice boomed out with a grand sense of authority, the type that made you think he honestly cared for the people he lorded over. "We have a new student who will be joining us this day" he continued. It couldn''t be could it? Nah..."He is the summoned hero that all the empires banded together to bring here to deal with the threat of the Abyss! Please welcome Kai!" And I could not help but be surprised. In through the door walked a handsome boy, of age 16 no doubt, and, like the uncle teacher in the room, he was also blond, his hair spiky, with blue eyes that seemed like a transparent ocean. He wore a simple armour with a tunic underneath it. However, what caught me most, was the sword he had round his waist. It was a sheath that was white, with blue lines, that looked like it locked the blade in place. The hilt of the blade was also white with blue lines, with a grip covered in bone coloured leather. And where the hilt met the blade/sheath, there was a single red gem, with what looked like a slitted eye. "Excalibur" I muttered under my breath. Who would of thought I''d meet another Exalted Weapon in such a short time after waking. I notice the orb twitch to me. That''s bad, I think he might have heard me. Kai himself looked up in my direction too not long afterwards, and calmly started walking up the stairs to my left. Probably just to get to someplace in the middle right? Where there are more people he can get along with? "Hi there, my name''s Kai, though you probably already know that. May I inquire yours" I heard a kind voice say to my left. In my sudden panic at being the centre of attention now, and having quite a few animal stares of pain pointed in my direction, I managed to stutter out a reply. "Ah-h ah, yes... I''m Va-Seraphina, Seraphina Evermore" I splutter out, looking away to hide my embarrassment at my panic. Almost let loose my real name there, which would be bad, especially with Excalibur right there. "That''s a nice name." I hear him say. I will not be fooled though. Seraphina is most definitely a beautiful girl, and I will not let anyone take advantage of he-"do you mind if I sit next to you?" Was all he said to break me down. I, now not functioning properly, just mumbled out a broken compliance, to which he just smiled and sat. I wasn''t used to kindness. Haven''t had it shown to me in a millennia and a half. I was at a lost of what to do or say. Flesh interactions are scary. The teacher just seemed to smile warmly at the scene, before continuing on with the lesson. The lesson was over quickly enough. It involved reading some book. Thankfully I gained Seraphina''s lexical abilities, so I wasn''t hung to dry. However, it''s what came after the lesson that threw me off. "I''d like to see Seraphina and Kai after class. The rest of you are dismissed!" Came the voice of the teacher. While the rest of the people started leaving and whispering between themselves, I felt my nervousness rise. Like I know I promised to help the summoned hero and all, but thus is all far too quick! I''m not even used to being meat and bone and other stuff again yet. After the rest of the class had left, me and Kai walked down to where the teacher was. Well, Kai walked, I just sorta...nervously shuffled? Yeah, that works. "Seraphina, I''d like you to help Kai get settled in. I''m sure you can tell, but he is new here." Said the teacher in his usual charm. Kia merely looked at me with a smile. "I''ll be in your care then" was all he said. I was about to raise protest before I felt a spark boom within me. It was the moment of Seraphina''s ''death''. My very nature forces me to act in the interests of the stolen wish. "Yeah, sure, I can do that..."
