    My name is Cody Kerr. I was born to a poor family in a small farm town. My parents used to be adventurers before they had me, but decided to settle down after. I was 3 years old when I cast my first enhancement spell. From then on my parents saw my potential and started training me. My mom was a bit hesitant like all moms would be, but Dad eventually convinced her somehow. I did notice it was a bit quieter at night though.


    My parents then hired a demi-human teacher for swordsmanship, and mom taught me spells. My demi-human teacher had a daughter that played with me too. Her name is Tetia. I teach her the spells I was taught by my mom and how to read. I specialized in fire and lightning magic, and I also have this strange enhancement power that turns my lightning and fire black and turns my eyes black with lightning coming out of them. Whenever I get mad this happens, and I lose it. The first time it happened was when me and Tetia were playing after a day of hard training, and a group of kids came by.     They gave me a disgusted look and exclaimed, " Of course that demi-bitch can''t play. The only thing she is good for is a sex slave."


    They came closer to her and reached for her breasts. I grabbed his hand before and crushed it saying, " Don''t touch her."


    I then lost it. I woke up with Tetia hugging me, and the mangled knocked out bodies of the kids. Not even my parents know what that power is. Tetia with her innocent heart healed the kids since she is really good at healing and light magic.


    We are both 13 now, and we can take out most monsters by ourselves. Today we are supposed to go to town to get some food and wine for a feast for a baby mom will be having soon. Little did we know how much our lives would change right after that.

 Chapter 2: Trip to Town

    In town Tetia was dragging me all over the place. She was constantly saying, "Look at this!" or "Who knew such beautiful things could be made?"


    We passed by a dress store, and a snow white dress with a red bow to go with it caught her eye. Right when she saw it Tetia stopped on her tracks and started drooling. I couldn''t help but chuckle, and I went up behind her and whispered in her ear, "That''s a nice dress."


    She jumped nearly five feet from being startled. I asked her if she wanted it in between laughing. She responded, "But don''t we only have enough money for the food and wine?"


    "Not true." I responded, "Mom gave me some extra for us to buy what we want."


    In truth this is my own money, but I don''t see a better way to spend it. I took the dress and we went over to the cashier to get it. She was an older demi-human with cat ears and tail. She said, "Oh! What a nice gift for the young couple!"

    I quickly tried to correct her and say we were just friends, but when I looked over to Tetia to help me out she was just blushing. Defeated I decided to roll with it and ask how much it cost. She said it only cost 3 silver coins. I was shocked and asked, "Why? This dress is easily worth 3 GOLD coins."


    She responded gloomily, "Well I''m a demi-human, so people won''t pay a lot for me."


    I thought that was absurd and paid her 3 silver coins and 1 gold coin on top of it. She said bless you, and we were on our way. We got the supplies and wine without any trouble, but on the way back through town a couple of guys wanted some trouble. They were a little bit older than us, and they went up and grabbed Tetia by the arm and stated, "Why don''t you ditch this loser and come with us for some fun?"


    She politely responded no thanks to them, and then they had some more to say. They growled, "Maybe I didn''t say that right you piece of demi-shit. I said ditch this guy and come with us for some fun."


    At this point I hadn''t lost it, but I was pretty damn close. I grabbed his arm, and started burning it while commanding, "She said she didn''t want to, no leave."


    He jerked back from me with his burnt arm and said, "That''s a nice trick farmers boy, but let''s see if you can do it to 3 of us."


    They all started running towards me, two with swords out, and one using enhancing magic. I calmly stepped in front of Tetia, and with both my hands swiping down, slashed two huge blue fire waves towards the two swordsmen to the left and the right. They were way to slow, and got burned to the point of near death because I didn''t want to kill them. Right after that I pointed out my pointer and middle finger on my right hand, and I jerked my arm pointed towards the enhancement magic user. Out of my fingers jumped lightening, frying the kid. After it was over, I turned towards Tetia and asked, "Could you please heal them. I don''t want them to die."


    While she was healing them a man dressed very formally started walking out of the crowd we accumulated from the fight. I looked up to him and asked, "What do you want?"

 Chapter 3: To the Capital

    The man was about six foot tall, jet black hair that is slicked back, and dressed in red and white. He walked up beside me, and I looked up to him and arrogantly asked, "And who are you?"


    He looked down and stated, "I have a proposition to make to you and your slave."


    I looked back straight ahead and told him, "She isn''t my slave. She is free, and she is my best friend. What is your proposition. It better be good now."


    He bowed to me and said, "My sincerest apologies. I did not know. My proposition is that you come to the capital with me, and improve your skills there while teaching the princess. You will be rewarded accordingly, don''t worry."


    I moved my eyes toward him without moving my head, and looked him up and down. I finally responded, "It is a very tempting offer, but I have to consult my parents and Tetia''s father first."This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.


    He looked at me and stated, "Of course, I will accompany you two back home, and ask them myself."


    Just when he finished Tetia walked back toward us. I told her the situation, and when she questioned it, he showed her a Royal medallion proving himself. We picked the supplies back up and headed back home.


    Mom and Dad were initially stand offish with it, but was eventually convinced. Comparatively Fetus''s Dad loved the idea. Demi-humans would never get the chance to learn at the capital as equals normally. Now the party was to not only to celebrate my sibling''s birth, but now also this surprise occasion. The first thing that happened the next day was Tetia and my leave from our only home that we have ever known. Before we left Dad gave me a katana, and told me that this sword was passed down from generation to generation. It will protect me well. Tetia''s father gave her a necklace, and whispered something in her ear. After we said our goodbyes we were off.


    It was a very long and boring journey to the capital, but when we got there I was speechless. I have never seen such a huge city in my life. I thought this city was perfect from the outside. When I saw the inside though, I realized I was mistaken. The outskirts of the city was filled with poor demi-humans and some elves. Tetia hid her face in my chest as we passed them. They were all so dirty you could barely see their features. It got steadily better the closer to the castle we got, but the images left in my mind are unforgettable. We finally went into the castle to meet the princess after a full day of travelling. I wonder what the princess looks like.

 Chapter 4: Meeting the Princess

    We walked through the throne room to see the king. It was a long a beautiful corridor, starkly contrasting the outer reaches of the city. It had purple banners with the kingdom sigil embroidered on them hanging in between columns of marble. When we finally got to the king his wealth showed even more so. He was a middle-aged man with red hair and a beard, his crown was made of gold and had all kinds of jewels on it. He was wearing a cloak made out of white Tiger fur (Very expensive and hard fur to get), and he wore jewelry all over on top of his purple and white garmets.


    When he finally spoke he had a frown on his face saying, "So you aren''t going to bow?"


    Being wrapped up in all the decorations I totally forgot about the formalities. Tetra and I shared a nervous laugh, and we responded with, "Sorry mi''lord. We are from the country, please forgive us."


    The king laughed at this. He looked back at us and stated, "It''s fine I don''t mind. It gets boring around here when everyone kisses your ass. I thank both of you for coming here. Truth be told I though it was a lost cause, but when I heard what you two can do I regained hope. I might as well bring out your student. Mina come out here!"

    The princess came out and she was the opposite of Tetia. She had Red hair compared to Tetia''s Blonde, her skin had freckles to Tetia''s pale skin, and she had green eyes to Fetus''s blue. She was beautiful, and she seemed about our age. I may have fallen in love on first sight. Tetia didn''t seem to like her that much, as she frowned at her. Her first words to us were, "What is that thing doing here? Isn''t he too young to have a slave? He looks too scrawny and what is with his curly hair? Why did you find kids to teach me? What the fuck is this? They look like they are poor and from the country too!"


    Well I guess her personality is bad, but that can change right? Maybe if I be nice enough to her it''ll work out, and maybe we can even date! Tetia didn''t like it too much though, and she showed it. Mina noticed Tetia''s look and told me, "You! Watch what your slave does!"


    I told her, "How can I control how someone looks? Besides she is my best friend not my slave, so can you please stop calling her that?"


    Fuck this is going bad. Now it will be even harder to get on her good side. Tetia seemed to like what I said, but Mina looked like she didn''t. Her words to me after confirmed that. She proclaimed, "What how could that piece of trash be your friend. This just confirms my suspicions that you are poor. Maybe father thought that this would humble me, but it will not influence me at all. I''ll tell you what if you beat me in a duel then I will accept you as me teacher, but if you can''t you will leave. You will also leave her here, so I can teach her a lesson."


    I looked around the room, and everybody seemed to have either an exasperated or worried look on their face. I wonder why, isn''t she supposed to be weak because I have to teach her? The king looked at me and said, "I''m sorry this happens everytime. Do you accept it?"


    I was still confused and responded, "Well I guess. I came here to teach her, and I can''t really let her say all that stuff or touch Tetia. Does his majesty mind if I hurt her though?"


    He looked at me with pleading eyes and stated, "Please do... "


    I don''t understand isn''t she supposed to be bad at magic? Other than that she looks like she doesn''t have any flaws other than her personality, and that can be changed... Right?

 Chapter 5: Battling the Princess

    The fight was being held in a large arena out near the military barracks. It seemed the stands around the arena were filled with royalty and nobles. Was fighting entertainment for them? How could they be entertained by violence, blood, and death. Maybe it''s because they never really fought before? I don''t know, but I should probably focus on the fight in front of me right now. It shouldn''t be much of a fight though. I mean she can''t use magic right?


    Mina was gearing up with a double sided battle axe. She also changed out of her long dress into a shorter skirt and a loose shirt. I admit I may have blushed at the change of clothes. The head of the axe she brought was easily 3 feet wide, and the handle was 4 feet long. How could a girl like her be able to handle that axe? She was a little shorter than me, and she looked like a normal girl of her age. Could it be magic? While I was pondering this the King started the countdown for the fight. I guess he assumed both of us was ready, which was completely untrue. I still haven''t decided on the size of her breasts yet, and the whole axe thing. These are both important questions that people want answering! Before I could stop him, the king shouted begin, and with that the fight started. Mina rushed toward me at inhuman speed. I barely had time to react to dodge with my lightning magic. I jumped about thirty feet away from where I was standing, and where I was standing was now a crater with Mina and her battle axe embedded in the ground. How did a girl my size do THAT!? What type of magic did she use? It didn''t look like lightning magic, so what other magic is able to make someone move that fast? She suddenly rushed me again, to which I responded by just dodging away again. She was visibly frustrated at this, and she shouted, "Stop running you coward! Aren''t you supposed to teach me?     I looked back at her with cool eyes and calmly told her, "I was trying to see how you fought, and your tactics. I also honestly don''t want to hurt you that much, but if you insist I can now counter you with force."


    She yelled in frustration and started to rush me again. I calmly put my hand out, palm facing her, and shot out a fire blast completely engulfing her and blinding her monetarily. It didn''t stop her of course as she still barreled her way toward my spot and throw her axe down with all her might. A huge dust cloud appeared. The crowd started cheering, as they were sure it was he victory, and they betted for her to win. When she brought down her axe though. Instead of hitting me and breaking my bones, it hit nothing and made another crater. She had a look of awe on her face. When she was blinded and engulfed by the flames I dodged slightly away, and made my way behind her. I didn''t make the flames hot enough to burn her because I didn''t want to kill her or ruin her perfect skin. I gathered up lightning magic and channeled it into my right arm. This alone was probably enough to do the job, but I don''t know anything about her magic and I need to make sure. I shot out a powerful blast of fire from my left arm, that spun me around at an incredible. This gave me extra momentum for the punch. She turned around to fight right when I brought the lightning punch to her face. When it connected it made a loud boom as she was flung down into the earth. The already huge crater she made was doubled in size by my blow flinging her to the ground. This created a even bigger dust cloud than hers. When it cleared, the princess was out cold. The crowd was silent. The only people cheering were Tetia and the king. I went towards the exit, and wanted to talk to the king again. I really hope the princess doesn''t hold this against me.

 Chapter 6: Training Begins

    I walked steadily, and deliberately out of the arena. Part of me was kind of pissed off. Why didn''t anybody tell me that the princess was so talented at magic? Why do they even need me? Right when I got out of the arena Tetra greeted me with a hug. She told me, "I told them! I told all of them that you wouldn''t lose to that spoiled brat!"


    I could only smirk and pat her on the head. I couldn''t shake the feeling that the beautiful princess Mina wasn''t going to forgive me for this. We met the king back in his throne room. I asked him about Mina, and why does he even need me. He answered back to me, "First I would like to thank you for finally teaching that girl a lesson that there are people better than her. That is also the main reason why I brought you in. It is to mainly tame her personality down. She can beat everyone else except for me, and I don''t have the heart to hurt my baby. So I need someone else to teach her about respecting others, and to show her she isn''t all powerful. Can you to please do it! You already put on a good show out there, so everyone knows there is a new top dog around. You two will both be attending the kingdom''s finest school with her of course, but it will benefit you too because you can learn more magic and spells.     I thought it over, and I finally responded with, "Well we both need food, lodging, and new clothes."

    After this was all settled, we were escorted to our rooms and got new clothes. I ended up getting a black outfit. I got a black cloak with a hood, a black shirt, black pants, and black boots. I was also fitted with a sword strap across my back. Tetia was fitted with a with a snow white dress and a jacket over it with blue stripes outlining it. She also ended up getting a staff and white boots. She looked really good, and blushed for some reason when she asked for my opinion of it. I wonder what Mina would look like wearing that? Tetia and mine rooms were right next to each other. It was probably due to the fact that most other people would trash her about her race without my supervision. I saw Mina walking by our rooms when we were about to go to bed. My heart started going a bit faster, and I hurriedly tried to talk to her saying, "Sorry about the fight earlier. I tried to take it easy. Where you going?"


    She looked back at me with disgusted eyes and said, "To my room to get some sleep peasant. You should do the same if you don''t want to die tomorrow and protect that demi-shit beside you."


    That didn''t go as expected. I looked at Tetia, and she was giving her the evil eye. I understand why, but personalities can change right? We went to sleep soon after. I reassured Tetia about tomorrow, and said I would be beside her the whole time so there is nothing to worry about. She whined like a little school girl anxious to leave saying, "I knowww. You don''t have to protect me all the time. One day it''s going to be you the one needing protecting, and I''ll be the one to protect you!"


    I laughed and responded, "I''m looking forward to that day. Maybe then I can lighten up a bit."


    We went into our rooms, and slept the night away. The next day was the first day of school.

 Chapter 7: The morning of School

    I woke up early in the morning like I used to do on the farm. Tetia and I both met each other outside in the hallway, and we looked around for the movement of people. We didn''t see anything though. We only saw the servants going about their morning chores. We walked up to one and I asked, "Where is everyone? Shouldn''t they be getting ready for school and work?"


    He looked shocked to see me when he first saw me, and a layer of confusion crossed his eyes when I asked him this question. He responded to me by saying, "Everyone is still asleep sir. It is still only 5 in the morning. Only us lowly servants are up doing chores, getting ready for the masters'' needs."


    I was kind of confused. School didn''t start this early. I looked back up to him and asked, "When does school start then, and do you know where we can get something to eat?"


    The demi-human servant looked puzzled once again. He answered me saying, "School starts at 8 o''clock sir, and you do not need to worry about food.     This place was really weird. We went back to my room and talked and ate until it was time for school. We met Mina in front of the palace gates. She knew where the school was, so we had to follow her to it. The school was still in the inner city. It was a series of huge buildings, with a large clearing in the middle. I can only assume that is for magic battles. We walked in, and everyone was already in their rooms. I looked at Mina and asked, "Umm hey, are we late."


    She looked back to me with her ever arrogant eyes and responded with an equally arrogant response, "No! Everyone else is just here early!"


    I see that no one really wants to go against this girl, or the Royal family. We walked into class, and it was like they were all dolls made from the same factory. They all had on the same uniform, the same hairstyle for boys, the girls all had their hair up in braids, and they were all humans. I can only assume they were all nobles too. I immediately looked at mine and Tetia''s clothing and knew that we stood out. The princess was probably used to this, but it was kind of embarrassing for us since we never been to a school before. The whole class and teacher stared at us with fiery eyes. The first day of school was already a mess.
