《Slightly Dead》
A Prologue Like any other
The sun poured in through the cracks of my curtains as I slowly got up. You would imagine I would be free of the burdens of the average working man as I would be old enough to be their ancestors, but nooooo, you need money to live. Well in my case, to not be a speaking pile of bones. I remember a few years ago I actually had my body checked out, not sexually, of course, I am not that lucky. I went to a medical research park. I was always curious when I do starve myself in curiosity of my ability to not die, where does my body make the energy to continue speaking and the such? When I am almost obliterated with only slight parts of me left what does my body regenerate from? When I was burnt at the stake, why did I regenerate? Of course, I have given out the thought of dying as I have a new goal now. Anyways, I wanted to try and find out, with today''s technology how I am able to do such things. I myself don''t remember. I just realised one day I couldn''t die. Maybe it was because when my friends turned 45 I was still 21. When they turned 60 I was still 21. When they died, I was still here.
Anyway, to convince them I was not a psychopath, I had to take part in some...Violent acts lets say. You would imagine that I would be all over the news after that day, but no there was nothing about me at all. They conducted their tests and yet they still could not realise how my body functioned. The only explanation they could theorise was evolution. They believed my body forced the surroundings CMB (cosmic microwave background radiation) into a form of energy. The surrounding air would just somehow change (evolve) into embryonic stem cells, which would be used to rebuild my body. It only does this when my body is in danger, however. This theory, however, became inconclusive as that is practically impossible, the pressure and temperature around my body was not enough to force this to happen. CMB radiation is also very scarce. I left after that. Well, I snuck out and was almost stopped from leaving. That''s a story for another day though.
So here we are. My new goal is to see how far I can exactly push my body. I''m always built back up to my peak after every ''death'' So I am curious as to what happens If I continue pushing passed my peak, well my body is currently still repairing itself from when I starved myself. Currently, I work as a labourer, although I have the skills of a surgeon as that was my original profession, it''s not like I can exactly show them my education history. Speaking of Identification, I have had my passport reissued countless times now all with a new and fake birth certificate, It is weird having ''1898'' attached to it while looking like a young man. That''s not my birthday by the way. It''s just when the passport was introduced to the country I was in at the time. I put on my clothes, a grey shirt and heavy trousers and heavy duty boots. My height was 6ft 1 and I had an average face, it was by no means chiselled. I never truly did care about my appearance. I continued staring at me in the mirror. Black hair and blacker yet, eyes.
After leaving at my house, I broke into a jog. I arrived at a building under construction.
"YO, Axle"
A short yet muscular man greeted me, he was my boss.
"Mornin, Matt"
After the usual routine of daily greetings, I was led to a false wall that needed deconstructing, I let out all my pent up stress and hate into the wall.
Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more.The clock continued to tick, eventually feeding into the lunch break.
"Damn Axle, the wall sleep with your wife or something?" A man joked after looking at the wall that I had been working on.
The man who was tall and stood towering over me, yet was skinny, was called Thomas or tom, which he prefered.
"No, It caused the death of one of my family members and I have sworn to kill every one of its race in vengeance"
"Wait, seriously?"
"Of course not you idiot"
We both broke into laughter.
"Come one everyone has started eating"
"Did you hear? It happened again, another town just disappeared"
"What do you think it is? It''s not an alien invasion...right?"
What they were referring to were the towns that just up and disappeared one day. It had caused widespread panic and grief, especially for those who had people they knew living in those towns. The panic has subsided ever so slightly, however, as the government said they would try and solve this solution as fast as possible. The weirdest part, however, was that not only the people disappeared. The buildings, cars and even parts of the land vanished. First, there was shaking of the land before satellites picked up a circle-like image (like those found in anime, manga, novels, etc) before the disappearance. Well, it''s not as it bothers me, it would solve the problem of whether I can die or not, If anything could kill me, it would be magic.
"I don''t really care" The one who spoke now was the apprentice, 17, who had short brown hair and blue eyes.
"What are the chances of it happening he-"
RUMBLE!
He couldn''t finish his sentence as the ground started to shake and a sentence appeared in front of my eyes.
{Prepare yourself, Young Warrior}
{System-Initialising}
The world around me changed to a blinding white. I couldn''t help but smile after such a long time, I felt it again...Excitement.
The Usual System
I slowly forced open my eyes. I had a major headache, I have never drunk alcohol before but I imagine this is what a hangover feels like. I reached for the water bottle I usually had next to my bed before I realised it wasn''t there. In fact, the bed I should have been led on wasn''t there. I was wide awake now. Despite the few centuries I have lived, (I think) this is the first time my entire scenery has changed from one nap.
{System [Mental Framework] Integrated}
Oh right.
{Greetings Young Warrior, I am Xylef, The Keeper Of Records}
{I Understand Your Confusion But I Shall Provide An Explanation}
{Your World Is currently Going Through The Process Of Integration With A World Known As Mion}
{This Is The Result Of The Failed Summoning Of A Single Hero, Leading To The Summoning Of An Entire World, Under Normal Circumstances, This Should Be Impossible, However, Due To Some Unforeseen Circumstances The Energy Required Was Met. This Had Slipped My Watch}
{To Support And Stop If Not Delay, Your Imminent Demise As A Race I Have Created A Space In Which You Can Become Adapted To The System That Those On Mion Have.}
{The System Shall Explain Its Functions, As I Don''t Wish To Disrupt The Balance Any Further, The Better You Perform In The Test That Will Follow soon, The Better The Gift That You May Receive}
{Good Luck, Young Warrior}
Balance, huh? I wonder If me being unable to die is balanced.
{Accept Starting Package? Y/N}
A mechanical voice entered my ears. Compared to the more human-like one before it.
Whenever I saw this on novels I always wondered what would happen If I pressed no. So I did exactly that.
{Accept Starting Package? Y/N}
It just asked me again. So I repeated the pattern of tapping no quite a few times. I finally caved and pressed the yes.
A small pouch holding 50 gold, and a normal steel sword. As soon as I had grabbed the sword light emerged from my shoulder, chest, hands, legs and feet. The light finally seemed to dim before completely disappearing, in its place was armour.
{It is possible for you to identify items that are your own}
It seemed unbelievably boring to check the leather armour I am wearing since It''s nothing amazing but I might as well know about my weapons. On a side note, Is armour even worth it for me?

That''s...um...new?
The system didn''t give me a chance to ponder on it as it quickly chirped in...
{Begining Trial-Transferring Now}
The world once again shifted to white, The scenery around me changed as I was now in a large cave with small openings.
{Survival Timer Started- The Longer You Survive, The Higher The Rank Of Your Gift}
[00:00:00]
{Waves Started}
Out of the caves came out the most generic monster...goblins, but their physique not so much...Muscular little men walked out of the openings. They had crude weapons which looked the part but I couldn''t help but feel as if I had been catfished.
"Oh...God Damn"
With that, they all charged at me whilst maintaining some form of army formation.
I could feel the adrenalin course through my veins as In my excitement I jumped into the centre of the goblin horde. My blade slashed through the body of one goblin while it beheaded the next. I did not care about their blades that cut through my armour or the poison from the claws that seeped into my blood, I was just enjoying the moment. A fatal mistake. One of their swings cut the tendon in my leg causing strain and eventual collapse. The sword fell from my clutches as the goblins took this opportunity to attack. The Tearing of the limb from the body and the bone from joints. My Hp fell drastically as my blood painted the cave walls in a new luscious red. My Hp dropped to 1000. I suppose it was time to go, it was fun while it lasted. My Hp fell to 1. It seemed that it was time for me to die.
Oh, wait. I couldn''t. My eyes shot open as I bit into the neck of the goblin nearest to me. The other goblins slowly backed away as they watched upon the brutal animalistic act I committed against one of their kind. I slowly stood up. From the joints, generated new limbs. Swords and poison excreted out of my body. My vocal cords had seemed to have regenerated as I stared down the goblins.
"Round...Two"
A New Life For The Slightly Dead Man
I grabbed my sword that lay covered in blood and fat. Swinging it to remove the excess wasn''t really effective.
The fat and protein in blood were too sticky for all of it to completely come off. Damn, how did they do it in anime?
[15:13:21]
So that''s how long it took them to bring my health down and for me to fully regenerate?
It''s been so long since I have been in a war but let''s try it. I held the sword out in front of me. I felt the dampness of the cave, the solid ground beneath my feet and finally the handle of the sword I gripped in my hands. The world seemed to become silent with only the heavy breaths of the goblins to occupy it. One by One the goblins started to approach me again. I couldn''t be as careless as last time. Remember it, How to kill.
{Passive Skill Gained!: Sword Mastery}
I jumped once more. The frontline goblins stabbed forward with their spears. I threw my sword while In mid-air at the goblin closest to me. The goblin dropped its spear as I used that gap to sneak into their formation. Quickly grabbing the sword that embedded itself in the head of the goblin, I beheaded the goblin to my left and right in one swing. I ducked under a sword slash from a goblin and grabbed the shield that a goblin once held. I shield barged the goblin that had swung the sword. I grabbed the edges shield and jammed it into the neck of the goblin, like a makeshift guillotine. I grabbed the sword that looked like a gladius, from the goblin''s corpse. I moved to kill the next one.
[31:16:01]
It had taken me a while but I had finally managed to kill every single one. My armour was now barely visible and my clothes in tatters but I didn''t care, I don''t remember the last time I felt so ''Alive''.
The clock, however, didn''t stop ticking...I wasn''t stuck here, right? "HEY! STOP TICKING PLEASE???" Was I going to have to live here for the rest of my life? Surely the timer would have stopped after I killed all of them. Maybe one was still alive...Do I have to go stabbing all of them one by one?
The ground started to shake.
Another Teleportation?
A large Pig walking on 2 legs wearing armour and a large butcher''s knife. Its head was...Damn...Its head was too big for the cave. It was head was breaking down the top of the entrance as it walked.
Okayyyy...
It loomed over me, it must have been at least 10 feet/ 3 meters in height, maybe twice that in width.
"GYAWWWWWWW"
It let out an inaudible shout as it swung down its knife. I was gonna parry, then I realised I am not a complete idiot.
I strafed to the left and spun adding momentum in my swing as I slashed just above his knee. The sword in my hand broke off into the leg of the pig causing it to kneel.
I could see the name tag above its head:
{Calamity: Correction}
Before I had a chance to realise what it meant a fist struck the side of my body. I was sent spinning into the ground, the air in my lungs was forcibly removed.
I was about to lose consciousness but somehow I have managed to hold on.
Grabbing the sword closest to me I stood once again with it as a cane.
[5300/11000]
One hit managed to shave off 5700 of my hp.
The sword felt like my only ally in a situation where I was all alone. No matter who left me, the skill of using the sword was always there.
{Sword Mastery Rank-UP}
I felt the sword become less of an ally and more of a limb. I focused on that feeling, forcing it to go further, to remember the bloodshed I caused many years ago.
{Sword Mastery Rank-UP}
The pig, I assume is an Orc had cut off its own leg...
"GYA GYA GYAAAAA" It threw its now ripped off leg towards me. Ducking under it, I realised that it had already grown a new leg. I wonder how many times it could do that. Is it hyper regeneration or the same undying ability as me?
After I gained the sword mastery ability I can now see what seems like guiding lines whenever I''m about to be slashed at or whenever I''m about to swing my sword. Of course, I''m not exactly going to use them as it will make me too reliant on them.
CLANG!
I let it slash slide off my blade and used the opening to strike its eyes. Can it repair sensitive organs like the eyes? It let go of its giant knife and quickly grabbed onto its own eyes as it howled in pain. I dashed behind it and in succession I attacked. Above its ankles, back of its knees and finally its ears. The last strike caused my sword to break. This time I picked up two weapons. It had already healed but I was faster. Same positions once again, but this time the sword did break. I jumped up and came back down spinning and aimed for its neck. A large gash appeared where my sword had struck, the tough skin once again broke the sword I used to strike, but this time I grabbed the blade that had broken off and shoved it into the open wound. With the other sword, I tried stabbing its leg into the ground, of course, that didn''t work and the blade just broke and jammed into my own arm. I backed away pulled the sword fragment out my own arm and watched the Orc try and heal.
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
It yelled as it seemed like its cells had to force out the blade from inside its neck. The place it came out from? Its eyes.
I grabbed another sword and without giving it a chance to stand up I attacked the same places again.
[39:10:55]
It had taken me a while but the Orc was finally on the ground and wheezing. Countless blade handles and broken blades lay around me. The Orc was now much skinnier.
"Where do you think the energy to heal your body comes from"
I grabbed its large butchers knife-like blade. It was heavy. Incredibly heavy. I required both hands to lift it up before finally letting it go, separating the Orcs head from its body. If the head is the stem of the body, then It doesn''t have the required energy to heal its self. The blade also blocked it from reconnecting it to its original body.
[39:12:03]The clock finally stopped.

The world around me turned to bright white before finally turning back to the grass plains I was in before. This time though, I wasn''t alone there were 4 other men stood In front of me that looked exactly like each other and exactly like...me.
{Commencing Demonstration}
With thestarting flare that was the system''s voice.
The man on the very right opened his hand wide, and above his palm, lightning formed in the shape of a ball and crackled, the lightning then travelled along his arm and soon circled his body. In the blink of an eye, he travelled a few hundred metres back, and In the next blink, he returned. He punched the ground he originally stood on and caused a large fissure to form. The fissure was longer than the distance he travelled. The ground soon repaired and he returned to his original position.
The man to the left of him materialised a bow in front of him and at the same time, 3 flies randomly appeared and started to float about. The man pulled out an arrow out the quiver and docked it on the bow. In rapid succession, he fired the bow and hit all 3 flies. If that wasn''t proof enough of his ability, he managed to only clip the wings and nothing else. The bow disappeared and he returned to his original location.
The next man materialised an entire graveyard with maybe 100 or so graves. He held out his hand and green aura erupted from them. As if lifting a heavyweight the man struggled to hold his hands up, and from the graves came out skeletons and zombies with rotting flesh, some with flesh ripped off from coming out the ground. Less obviously, the next forced the dead to join together, forming a muscular behemoth that had slightly less rotten flesh. Even less obviously, The man then forced himself to merge with the muscular behemoth...replacing its head with his own and causing the muscles to no longer be rotting and instead become just a muscular behemoth in the image of the man. The chest of the behemoth opened up and out popped the man, the green aura disappearing from his hand. The behemoth collapsed and the man returned to his original position.
The last man caused my eyes to open in shock. As if to spite me, the last man materialised a dagger...and slit his own neck. It was a clean cut causing almost all of his head to come off...and in the next second he returned to normal. I couldn''t help but want to kill whoever came up with this gift. After he finished his body copy of a worn-out joke, he returned to his original place, the blood just magically disappeared.
{Choose Your Gift}
Well, I didn''t really know much about the place I would be placed in so I just went with the one I liked the most.
"The One with the lightning"
The men all disappeared, the one with the ability of lightning instead turned to dust and flew into me.

The white light slowly started to fade, in its place was colour. A Throne Room Scene was coloured in. It didn''t take a genius to figure out what had happened, I had arrived at Mion.
"Welcome Warriors to Illif, The Kingdom Of Peace and Prosperity"
A man, with the typical appearance of a king, shouted out. It seems I wasn''t summoned alone. I looked around and saw 2 young boys and 2 young girls. Probably no older than 18-19 each. One of the boys, tall with blonde hair and blue eyes had the other 2 girls, one that was short with blonde hair and the other tall with black hair and eyes with certain ''large'' features crowd around him. I see, he was quite handsome and had his own harem, huh? The other boy was taller, muscular with tanned skin and black eyes and hair. He must be the best friend in this scenario. I assume they had enough points for the ''Rank A'' spawn? Why was he with them anyway, I mean wasn''t it based on skill and chance that they people had chosen spawn points? I''m curious but I''ll just call it plot armour for now.
On another point, I''m surprised they didn''t ask any generic questio...
"Where are we?"
I spoke too soon. This blonde haired idiot... Did you literally not hear him say the name of this place?
"Like my Father mentioned we are currently in the country of Illif, The World you are currently In is called Mion. The reason we have called you heroes is due to the dire situation our country faces, as much as it pains me to say so, we are at the brink of demise without your help."
In the place of the king, it was the woman, or should I say princess, next to him that spoke first. She wore a long white dress with blue ends that reached the floor as well. She had velvet coloured hair with red eyes and a well-proportioned body.
"Dire situation"
The Blonde genius once again asked.
"Yes, As the record keeper may have told you, our worlds are currently facing integration you weren''t the only heroes to be summoned, many countries have strong heroes as well, however, do not fret as we have the best materials to train and strengthen you with."
"I see, so even though you have the best materials, the introduction of summoned heroes have shifted the power balance?"
The Blonde guy actually said something not that stupid for once, colour me impressed.
"You are correct, however, there is also another threat...The Demonic Tribe also houses summoned heroes, one of them is highly exceptional, he led an army and took many of our territories... something impossible for their military strength to achieve, So I must beg you heroes to help us"Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Oh, a princess bowing her head, that''s a first.
"Please, stop bowing your head, of course, we will help you"
Hey! hey! Hero boy, can you chill out?
"Keiro, You can''t just go making decisions for us"
The short woman says
"Haha! sorry guys, but I want to help them, so please help me?"
The protagonist responds quickly, did the pacification work?
"Haaa, guess it can''t be helped, you''re always like this"
"That''s right, he just can''t help himself when someone is in trouble"
The pacification worked...of course, it did. This is the point where I just blend in with the crowd while hiding my abilities right? It''s just so much better to live in hiding for some amazing reason right? I should hide to live a ''peaceful life'' right? But peaceful is boring so...
"Why should I?"
"What?" The princess was the first to quickly respond to my statement.
"I said...Why Should I?"
"I''m sorry, I don''t quite understand?"
"No, you do...you just choose not to. I have no grief with the Demon tribe, if they have human heroes they most likely have nothing specifically against them, so it must be your usual war. I have no reason to involve myself in the annoyances of your petty war"
Hmmm, that seemed to silence them pretty quickly.
"Now would you please show me the exit to this castle"
"Very well, I shall have Gerald lead you the way"
Oh more compliant than I had assumed they would be. Oh well, she does have 3 others to deal with so I guess I''m not entirely needed.
"Before I leave, however, may I ask the location of the spire?"
"You may, it is in the town centre, before you leave, I must insist you stay since the outside world is harsh for the new, at least an average of 20 is needed in all stats to be sure of your own safety"
"I will be fine, thank you for your concern"
I started to walk away along the red carpet that had been lavishly placed on the floor.
"Wait!"
Of course...It was the protagonist that shouted that.
"I think it''s best if we all work together"
"Appreciate the offer...but no"
I''m not letting anyway get in the way of a new exciting life.
"Leave him Keiro, look at him anyway, an arrogant man like him deserves to die."
The black-haired woman said...Die...
"HAHAHAHAHAHA, You''re right I do"
With that, I left. I left the throne room and made my way outside and led by the man named Gerald, I made it passed the Castle walls. The man handed me a bag filled with about 5 silver coins and pointed me in the direction of the town centre and the road I had to follow in order to reach the town itself. I was happy, my life officially began as I stepped on the road in order to reach the town to get a class. That is, however, until I saw the world spin, and before I landed...The rest of my upright body.
Ideologies, Beliefs and Absurdities
{Severe Conditions: Heavy Bleeding}
I must say, it is quite the ''breath-taking'' experience being decapitated. A person donned with a black robe stood there next to my body which had yet to realise the important part that it is missing. "Clean this up! It will leave a bad taste in the kind mistress''s mouth to see this gruesome scene" The person then proceeded to call over one of the guardsmen I had recently passed.
"You could have just cut him more cleanly."
"What did you just say? you prick"
Funny how they are speaking over my dead body as if a simple occurrence. I may be quite old, hell, I still vividly remember seeingBefore Christ change toanno domini, well to be honest saying ''vividly'' would be a lie, this memory too, is also hazy. One thing that stayed with me though, is my emotions. So to kill me and hinder my enjoyment of life for but even a second...Truly ANGERS me.
It is easier to make my body regenerate if my blood rate is higher, to this I take part in something known as ''muscle tension'' exercises. Here is where it gets complicated, while the rest of my body is near the vicinity, I can still somewhat control it and my head will just reattach itself while flushing out any harmful diseases that have penetrated past my natural barrier, the skin. Anyways to speed up the reattachment process I need my blood pressure to be higher, Normally I would rely on my adrenal glands but since the hypothalamus (the detector and stimulator of hormones) is in the head of mine...you can see how it would be difficult. I don''t entirely understand how my body can be still controlled since there is nowhere for the signals to originate from but it just can move for some reason. I suppose it''s like a spasm after death. Anyways I tense and release my gluteus maximus... or in laymen''s terms, my buttocks.
The blood started to move quickly as it slowly dragged my head closer to it. They were too occupied in their speech to realise. Well, I guess the assassin was trained enough to sense me somehow though.
"WHAT THE HELL!" I could see some purple circle form around his legs but it didn''t matter now. CLICK! my spine had finally reattached. I could see the assassin turn into a blur before his blade could reach my neck once again, it stuck to the metal. A large, oddly shaped sword was in its path. The recoil injured his wrist and he was left unbalanced mid-air. Using this chance I coiled lightning around my fist, it came much more naturally to me then I thought it would. At the same time, I recalled the blade to my inventory. I followed through with a combo of punches, making sure to hit his liver at least twice and his left ear once. I followed his immobilised body as it flew through the air, despite his inability to move due to the current running through him and slight scratches, he seemed mostly unharmed. Quite a tenacious person, huh? I took my blade out its inventory once again, there seems to be a 3-second delay if I put something In my inventory and then call it out again. Thankfully he was paralysed for longer than that. I could now wield the blade much more easily due to the thunder clad around my arms.Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.
The trajectory of the blade changed as It was much lighter than I thought it to be, I missed the person''s vitals and cut off the robe covering their face instead. Red hair and green eyes, it was a woman. Knowing it was a woman I couldn''t bear to kill her...Just kidding! I corrected my posture and cut into near the top of her spine it was much harder than I thought as part of the blade even chipped, stats are not to be taken lightly, successfully severing her ventral root. She should be paralysed for life. I don''t plan on killing her as my level is locked and she could be a source of valuable experience. If you believe me to be cruel and you yourself believe in the false ideology of isekai heroes, just know that I am not like you, I will kill those who choose to kill me. Well, I say that, but it depends on my mood if I am being perfectly honest. I wonder if regeneration can heal paralysis.

The guardsmen had fallen to the ground with weak knees.
"That glow a-around your blade...you''re a Sword Knight..."
"That would be one of my titles"
"Please! Please! Find it in your noble heart to let this insolent one go"
He didn''t seem that High of a level and carrying two people is a burden so I quickly separated his head from his shoulders. I couldn''t place him in my inventory, so I searched his body and found a map and a few coins, I left the coins on him, found a safe area away from the entrance and sent the current through his body. I used enough of it so that only his ashes remained. This ability is usable of lower levels but seems to only be able to immobilise higher levels, whom I assume don''t have electricity resistance. Carrying the woman, whose neck seemed to start to regenerate, to the nearest town depicted by the map.
I guess my excitement filled life can finally start...
"Oh wait...How do I explain the body?"
Adventurers Guild-The Requirements and Preperations
I tried to calculate roughly how long it takes for her to regenerate. That was a pain so I just left it. It was weird seeing even life-threatening injuries heal. I guess that stops people from taking advantage of it like I was hoping to. That''s fine however, healing isn''t rapid. I proceeded to cut off her limbs and then cauterized it. I''m not sure if limbs heal back, but if nerves can, maybe so can limbs. I could see the entrance gate of the village a few hundred metres away, heading off the main road I walked into the forest finding a good spot before burying her and covering her with leaves and branches. I''m quite surprised by the fact the pain and blood loss hadn''t killed her to be perfectly honest.
I continued moving to the front gate and now instead shifted to a jog.
"Halt! State your business" One of the guards at the gate stopped me.
"I come as a traveller"
"Do you have any Identification card on you, traveller?"
"Identification card? Can''t say I have ever heard of it"
"I see, you must be a summoned..."
"What was your rank of summoning? It can''t be high since you weren''t summoned to the best of places"
"Do I have to answer?"
"No, just personal curiosity"
The guard the beckoned me closer and left guarding the gate to the other guards. I was led into a room with a large boulder that was placed against the wall.
"Place your hand against the stone"
I do so, the stone glowed red of a while and then stopped.
"I see, so you''re a no class? Hmm, a large proportion of the summoned are given a class beforehand"
With that said, he led me outside, apparently, people in this world also receive a class in a ceremony when they reach the age of 10. Most likely, people here including this guard in front of me, have stats much much higher. I even won against that assassin with luck, if she had electric resistance, I wouldn''t have won.
The spire wasn''t that far from the gate so the guard personally led me there, which was weird considering he had to guard the gate, well I wasn''t complaining though. The stone also must have a function I wasn''t aware of, how else did he assume I am not an enemy.
For safety precautions, it also seems that although I may be able to gain a class, I am not allowed to use any of the regular private dungeons located in the town without 10 years proof of citizenship. The best form of Identification is, of course, an adventurers card.
"We are here, you''re in luck, currently the spire isn''t being booked for use, simply place your hand on it"
We finally arrived at the spire, a large black obelisk with a sheen stood straight with a rope barrier surrounding it.
I ducked under the rope and placed my hand against the spire. At that moment it felt as if the spire had gained a soul, slowly the spire seemed to change state into a liquid as it engulfed me into its own darkness. I was forced into a peaceful sleep.

I opened my eyes only to be greeted with a plethora of classes. I somehow knew the rough description of each class and how they worked in terms of status weight. What I mean by status weight is which stats of mine receive the greatest increase per level up.
For example, The basic class of warrior is
[A Strong-willed wielder of physical strength able to brave the fear-inducing in order to save themselves or their Companions, They, however, trade their agility for their Herculean strength]
{Gain Skill-Enraged Cry}
{Gain Skill-Shield Bash}
{Gain Skill-Heavy Swing}
{Strength-Stamina Distribution}
I, of course, had a difficult time choosing a class, I think maybe more than an hour was spent on me trying to decide. In the end, I chose the class which seemed the most interesting to me.

The world regained colour as I was released from the spire. It felt oddly discomforting to be out in the real world after the relaxing experience in the spire.
"Ah, welcome back..."
"Good...to be back"
"After you get used the crappy feeling of real life follow me"
Eventually, after battling the discomfort, I followed behind the guard before eventually arriving in front of a large Building. In front of the shop stood a statue seemingly made of metal of a man on one knee holding onto the hilt of a blade. He had a crown atop his head and what seemed like a dragon''s head placed next to him.
"Well this is where we part ways, What''s ya name?"
"Axle, I don''t have a last name", Well I say that but I just don''t remember it
"Well, I have a good feeling about you, usually it takes a while for the registration to take place but just give them my name for reference, It''s Blyke Kruger, by the way," The guard donned in armour finally took off his helmet, he had dark red hair and green eyes, he was much younger than I imagined maybe 18 to early ''20s.
I shook the hand he had outstretched.
"Well, I hope the holy rulers of fate smile on your path"
"Likewise"
After going our separate ways I walked into the guild. The outside looked like a large, white, polished mansion. The entrance was what seemed like a modern version of a tavern door.
The interior was just as clean looking as the outside. There was a bar to my left, which suddenly became silent as I walked in as if they were starved wolves staring at fresh meat, either that or they were just curious.
I followed the signs and continued walking to the 2nd floor where the reception was.
There was a decently large line but there were 3 different counters so the line moved quickly.
I finally arrived at the counter and was greeted by an attractive woman with pink hair and blue eyes, she was sitting down, so her height was difficult to establish. She was wearing glasses and what seemed to be the receptionist uniform, black with white stripes and a red rose, placing above her chest pocket.
"Welcome to Illif Adventures Guild, How may I help you today?"
"I''m here to register as an adventurer"
She handed me a form and I had to fill in basic info such as my name and if I had any references, etc. I handed her the paper after I was done.
"B-Blyke Kruger? Right this way, please sir"
She led me into a separate room, she was stood up so I could now see her height, roughly up to my shoulders. I could also see that she had on a black knee length skirt and black stockings.
"Sorry but it''s rare people have a reference so we''ll have to check the validity of this, do you mind waiting, sir?"
I had all the time in the world so "No, I don''t mind"
It took roughly an hour for her to return
"Sorry for the wait, We have confirmed the validity of the reference"
I wonder if the words of a guard had weight or Blyke was simply an important figure, but then, why would he be positioned as a guard?
"Okay, Mr Axle, It would usually take around a 1 month for the confirmation process but we can skip that due to your reference and we have been informed that you are an ''other-worlder'', so we will require you to perform a few examinations. We need to make sure of your morality and your preparedness so, a single term at the academy is compulsory, you will also be required to take part in a combat assessment, let us know whenever you wish to take it otherwise, we in our good conscience can''t give you hunting permission or unlock the questing feature on your system. The payment for the first term at your academy will only be taken out as a percentage from your earning until you can pay it back or you can pay the fee to the guild directly and we will process it for you."
"Right, so how much is a fee?"
"5 gold"
"I understand, I will pay it now"
"Sir you must understand, the academy gives high-quality training so the price is highly fai-...wait sir, did you say you would pay?"
I took out 5 gold and place it on the table in front of me
"I S-see"
I guess she didn''t ask how I received it due to professional etiquette. She collected the money and regained her composure, her reaction was fun to witness, I must say.
"I would also like to take the combat assessment as soon as possible"
"Are you sure? Despite how it may sound, it is much much harder than it seems"
"Yes, when is the quickest I may be able to take it?"
"May I know your level?"
"Well, funny story but I just received a class so it''s 0"
"Z-Zero Haaaa, I see I will try and arrange something for you but the earliest would have to be next week"
"I see, I can wait"
"Also for when you enter a party and for the education you will receive at the academy may I know your class alignment, so, is it an intelligence-based class like a mage and/or caster or strength related like a warrior"
"It is..."
With that, an academy arc would be implemented into my new life as the talks about my class and stats continued with the receptionist. The new life of the slightly dead man.
Life, Youth and Heretics
I left the Adventurers guild after asking about an inn to stay before I had to travel to the academy.
[Blood, Gold and Silver Inn]
Well isn''t that a welcoming sign. I walked into the inn that seemed to be made fully of wood, isn''t this just a massive fire hazard waiting to happen? Then again, thick wood doesn''t catch fire as easily. I walked into the inn, I was met with the boisterous atmosphere of an Inn.
A young woman was dancing around the wide room carrying and delivering everyone''s orders.
There were groups of people equipped in armor discussing their next mission
Couples flirting, (annoying to watch)
Grown men drinking and laughing.
Everything just radiated life.
A mug flew directly towards my head, which of course I dodged but it went and struck the man directly behind me.
He slowly and dramatically turned to face me, I didn''t even see who threw the mug but now I probably had to deal with this man behind me.
"Hey...Brat!"
He grabbed my shoulder, placing a lot of strength into his grip, it''s weird since he is a higher level...shouldn''t it hurt a lot more? I wonder what the distribution of stats is per increase in level.
"Listen, I didn''t throw the mug..."
"I, only the weak like you can make such blatantly false excuses, I suppose as your superior, I should teach you a lesson"
Of course, he wouldn''t listen
"IT''S A FIGHT!"
Someone shouted and people started to stare at us.
He quickly swung his fist, I ducked underneath it and with a rotation of my body, I swung my fist and felt my knuckles sink into where his lungs were located. I then spun in the opposite direction and kicked him using the heel of my foot.
He fell to the floor, gasping for air. After a few seconds, he once again got up, damn, he must have a lot of stats in regeneration.
"Again! You cheating prick!"
How was I cheating?
He once again became ready to swing but suddenly a muscular hand struck the head of the guy trying to fight me.
"Calm down, Alexander, he didn''t even throw the mug, isn''t that right, Ivalia"
A man with a bushy beard, red eyes and large stature to add to his menacing look stopped the other man, Alexander from continuing the fight.
"Wow, Father you take the fun out of everything!"
This time a woman, dressed like a sorceress, wearing clothes dyed dark purple to match her eyes and black hair with here her chest being exposed with only her ''essential parts'' being barely covered...(Is this what kid''s these days were into wearing?) She was also the one who seemed to have thrown the mug
"I apologize for the actions of my daughter, to make it up to you, how about a nights stay with food provided for free"
So he was the owner of the inn?
The room once again returned to its boisterous nature as the man who had attacked me was now quiet and meek, also slightly red? After making eye contact with the woman...He doesn''t like her?... Right? Oh, poor man.
"I need to stay in this town for 7 days, so how much more for 6 more days?"
"That will be 60 Silver"
"Ha, You''re not going to offer it for free as well?"
"You have to understand sir, I''m running a business here"
Of course, I didn''t expect it for free, I just was curious how he would respond.
He led me to a desk, where he wrote my name down and returned 40 silver for my 1 gold coin.
I was led to my room and given the key
"If you need anything, such as an extra meal or bath, it will cost slightly extra and just call for one of my daughters"
"One of your daughters?"
"Yeah, Ivalia, who you have met, Maria, the waitress, Orphelia, the one at the counter taking orders, or Pria, she works as a chef at times and helps out at different places at other times."
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it."Right...quite a few daughters"
"OF COURSE! The number of children a man can have and his wife can bare, are foundations of his pride and evidence of his masculinity, what about you? Have a family or are you too young for it?"
"Hahaha! I can''t remember if I''m being honest with you"
"Can''t Remember?..."
"Well anyway, thanks for guiding me"
I headed into the room, it was quite larger than I assumed it to be, maybe roughly 3-5 meters in height, 6 meters in width and 6 meters in length.
The room itself was quite bland, with a large window spreading across the wall and a comfy-looking bed.
I always maintain the peak of my body so I don''t tend to contract diseases but dirt is another matter, I''m surprised I haven''t become much dirtier during the time I have been here. The blood has already returned to my body after purifying itself so there aren''t blood stains but what about all the blood from the woman and goblins?
Oh, that reminds me...What do I do about her? I said that I was Level 0 to the receptionist but after I kill the woman I left in the woods, my level will rise. Hmm, what to do, what to do...
For now, It''s daytime so I have to do things on my list. First on the list is better weaponry, I also need armor, regeneration takes too long so it''s better to not have to die and come back, armor although basically useless on me, will help with that. I also don''t want a situation where I''m immobilized due to an important part of me being cut, so It isn''t fair to call armor completely useless on me.
I headed outside and followed along the road to the weaponsmith that was recommended to me by the receptionist.
I had arrived at the shop
Swords were line up and placed in racks, almost everywhere.
"Ah, a customer, hello! How may I help?"
A young woman with blonde hair and a blue dress to match the color of her eyes showed up.
"I was looking for a good sword, preferably custom made, how long would that take?"
"Hmm, you will have to ask Gustav, oh! Gustav is the owner of this store"
"I heard my name"
A short man with red hair and a bushy red beard that looked as if it was constantly on fire showed up, he was probably a dwarf as per fantasy cliches but it would be rude to assume.
"Yes, he would like a custom sword and he also wants to know how long it would take"
"Hmm, a normal steel sword with no enchants or class requirements would take roughly 5 days, longer if you do want things added to it"
Hmm...I don''t have that kind of time on my hands, I guess I will go with a premade one for now.
I spoke to him about all the things I want in a sword.
"A Sword with that many...requirements would take roughly 1 year at the earliest"
"Fine, I will return a year later to check if it is complete or not anyways, for now, I need a premade sword with a blade roughly 50 to 60 cm in length and with good electrical conductivity for the week"
"Not even going to batt an eye for the price? Hahaha Okay, In regards to your preference, let''s see..."
I said the length in cm out of habit but I didn''t expect they used same measurements here as well.
"These are the swords we have for thunder elementals"
I was led to a selection of swords
[A Large Taser]
[Damage: 135 {354 When fully charged}]
[Charge:1000{10/s when in contact with direct sunlight}]
[Description: A Large Electrically Charged Sword With High Amounts Of Burst Damage, From The Mass-Produced Set Of Popular Weaponry, Used To Immobilise Hostile Threats]
When choosing a weapon it''s not wise to only look at the damage, as there are a lot of things that this analyzing ability doesn''t take into account. It''s best not to ignore other features of the sword. Such as the Durability of it, what about weight? Reach? Penetrating Power? Slashing Damage? Thrusting Damage? What about the damage per second and in other words, the speed of each strike.
[Light Sabe-]
Wait wait wait! That''s copyrighted material. I kept looking around the store. Before something finally caught my eye.
[Ira-Sixth]
[Damage: 130]
[Description: A Sword Crafted By Master WeaponSmith Gustav, Once Used By A Heretic]
"Oh, My apologies, I thought I had already placed this in the storeroom, please continue looking around"
He seemed to quickly try and remove the sword from my sight, the reason was obvious
"What is a heretic?"
"To not know of heretics...You are not around from here right?"
"Something like that, so what are they?"
"They are those that go against the natural order of the world and life itself, They are abnormal beings, They are strong, unnaturally so, the reason they are called heretics, however, is because long ago, they had gone against the beings with wings"
The young woman in the store cut in while the old man was explaining.
"They are...Immortals"
Learning To Bleed
"Immortals?"
"Stop it, Eva, you know they were killed by the winged beings"
"No, Gustav, their bodies were never found, they COULD still be out there"
"Sorry, Eva here likes the ''Strange''"
"They''re not Strange! They fought for us, yet we still look up to the winged ones that oppress us"
"Hush Child, I will not ask again! Anyways where were we...Right, I''ll take this out of your sight-"
"I''ll take it"
"You''ll take it?"
"Yes, you see," I looked toward the woman who had piqued my interest, "I am also a fan of the strange"
"It''s...not strange" The woman answered
"Anyways, what does the total come to?"
After a moment of brief silence, The man once again burst out laughing.
"Right! So in the year, it will take to forge the sword the price of materials will vary, however, I will only charge you the current price, That will be..." After what looked like him punching numbers into a magical calculator, "854, for the custom made sword, but I will only charge you 850 Gold, 50 for the pre-made sword, you can pay it in installments due to it being such a large amount"
"I''ll pay it all now"
{1 Week Later}
I was stood In a large dome-like room, In the center was quite the muscular man with a bushy beard coated in black and sharp brown eyes wielding a wooden sword.
"Listen, Young Adventurers, Your aim is to successfully land a strike, if you can, I''ll qualify you"
I looked around, there weren''t many people but you wouldn''t consider it small either.
"Wait!"
Of course...why did I not expect another one of these ''protagonists'' A firey red-haired boy, with eyes of the same color to match
"What, Young one? Getting cold feet?"
"No, Isn''t it unfair that also of us have to fight you? I rather fight you one on one"
"Oh, a Confident one? Do not worry, even if you use magic, as you are allowed, you won''t be able to easily strike me"
"Isn''t this Unfair on us?" This time a girl spoke up, she was young with a somewhat under-developed body, a twin-tail blonde hairstyle, and blue eyes.
"Oh? How so?"
"You are clearly a higher level than us, So how do you expect to even try you?"
"Well, you don''t have to beat me just land a strike but anyways, I guess its time for a quick lesson...Level''s don''t determine everything, there are class compatibility and skills you have to be aware of, you must also remember, most classes give small amounts if barely any, increments, although every little help, the only real difference is made if there is a substantial level difference of at least of 100 or more and the average level of people is 50, the reason the queen''s Guard and the Paladin of the Winged are so strong, is due to them being at least level 250 or higher... So you have nothing to worry about...since my level is only 25...Anyways....enough chatter, COME!"
The hall was filled with silence...no one wanted to make the first move.
"I will fight him alone" Making that confident declaration the red-headed boy shot of toward the muscular man, His speed was...Incredibly fast, he crossed the distance being us and the muscular man in less than 2 seconds.
"My name is Anson and I will beat you to become an adventurer like my father!"
Is he going to give us his entire backstory?
He aimed his wooden sword at the neck of the muscular man.
"I don''t remember asking"
The muscular man leaned backward, the blade passed his neck using the momentum Anson spun his body changing into a reverse grip on his sword and pushing it behind him. The muscular man easily caught the blade with his fingers that seemed to be coated in...sword aura, this left a look of shock on Anson''s face, in that second of him being confused the muscular man backhanded Anson with his free hand. He crashed into the ground, terribly, twice, his sword somehow still in his grasp.
"Is this it?"
Slowly, Anson stood up, using the sword as support.
"Of course not"
"HAHA, I like your spirit boy! My name is Aizen"
This time the muscular man rushed forward, not as fast as Anson but fast nonetheless. The training sword curved itself towards Anson even though he had yet to recover.
{Barrier}
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it{Heal}
The sword collided against the golden shield around Anson, bouncing off.
"I had it covered by myself, Mabel"
"Sure you did"
The twin-tailed hairstyle girl, Mabel stood behind the now full healed Anson.
"In that last attack, I felt it...Bloodthirst. He intended to seriously injure you, Anson, be careful, I''ll support you"
Oh? So she can feel that sort of thing?
I looked around, none of the other participants were taking part. How ironic.
{Strengthen}
Mabel cast a buff on Anson. He once again shot forward, clearly much faster than before and as he seemed to be used to the new speed he either is talented or has practiced with the buff before. This time he aimed at the chest of Aizen, Aizen parried the sword blow, pushing it to the right and then immediately following with a roundhouse kick, Anson body curled around the leg due to the impact, there seemed to be a small golden glow around where he was struck...A barrier again? When did she even cast? Did she quietly cast it? Anson went flying backward but not nearly as injured as he previously was. Seeing this a chance where the muscular guy, Aizen would be distracted, other participants ran at him. A downward strike to the shoulder, took out one guy, a knee to the stomach took out another, he quickly cleaned the participants whether they were male or female.
He finally turned towards Anson and ran at him, a barrier was placed around him again but instead of attacking it, he quickly went past it and towards Mabel.
"Quick Mabel! Get rid of this barrier!"
It seemed you couldn''t get through the barrier with it still up even if you were an ally, Mabel did so quickly but even with Anson being faster...He wouldn''t be able to help her in time. Anson had caught up with Aizen but his sword was already closing in on her. Anson aimed his sword at the instructor. If this order of events took place, Anson would probably be qualified but Mabel would receive a serious injury and be disqualified. This is incredibly entertaining to watch.
Before the sword could strike Mabel, she was pushed out the way a young black-haired boy with hair covering one eye. The strike closed in on his back, forcing him to yell out in pain before slowly collapsing onto Mabel''s lap. Anson''s strike had connected against Aizen. Seriously though, who the hell is this new guy?
"ORIN!"
Ah, so that''s who he is.
Mabel started to break down...crying?
Anson started to angrily strike Aizen, who was now taking the defensive and smiling.
"HOW DARE YOU!"
"You''ve already passed, are you that eager to be beaten again?"
{Heal}
{Heal}
{Heal}
Mabel now regained her sense of self and frantically healed this Orin guy, who had still yet to regain consciousness.
Seriously, who is he?
"Don''t say I didn''t warn you"
Aizen now shifted to the offensive, he started to strike at Anson, but he actually managed to block this time.
{Blaze}
Mabel started to now use magic to attack Aizen.
"Guess I should be more serious against you Young ones..."
A grey aura started to rise from his body
"I WILL MAKE YOU PAY AIZEN"
Despite saying that, he was now seriously being pushed back, but if the muscular guy Aizen is being serious how is Anson still holding on and not being broken? Through the power of friendship?
It looked cool though, the grey aura engulfing him. Problem was...the fight just became so boring and repetitive to watch, they are just speaking angry words and going back and forth now...At least do something new.
"That grey aura...It has to be...Aizen the Mad, a man only focused on raising his skils and not his level, becoming a sword trainee at the tender age of 10" Some of the participants too scared to fight started to speak.
Aizen struck the leg of Anson and then threw his sword towards Mabel. Anson quickly turned in order to run after it but his legs were grabbed tightly by Aizen,
"Now watch her" The muscular Aizen cynically remarked.
{Barrier}
The wooden sword, which was also engulfed in the grey aura, seamlessly passed through the barrier, which was now shattered. Inches away from her face a hand embued in the same aura, only a different color, a deep shade of red.
"Hey now, I can''t let you just destroy a romantic story that the Orin guy sacrificed himself for"
"W-who are you?"
"Names aren''t really important in this context miss Mabel"
I turned to face Aizen, who was looking at me with a smile on his face as if he had found a new toy, Anson was still struggling and kicking at the hand that was holding onto him. Quickly, Aizen just flung Anson like a rag doll to the side.
Guess it''s my turn.
"I''ll support you..."
"Hey now you''ve had your turn, I''m bored right now, so please don''t get in the way...or I might have to...kill you"
I gave my warmest smile as I said that but it seemed to only further increase the fear etched on her face.
"Come Young one, Show me your spirit!"
"Said the senile old man"
"Senile? me?"
"Oh sorry, did I say that out loud? my bad I almost called you an old pervert right now, that would''ve been awkward"
He just stopped speaking and engulfed himself in his aura again.
I wonder if I should use some of my class abilities? Eh. why not.
I used Lightning-Clad and coiled lightning around my body. I shot forward, sticking my legs into the ground at an angle after I passed him to stop myself, I spun and aimed my sword towards his nape. He rolled forward, not bad dodging something so fast, but I assumed he would. I embued my sword with my aura, I couldn''t coil lightning around it as it was wooden and not conductive. He once again rolled, instead of picking up the sword, I coiled lightning around my leg and kicked him, strongly. He managed to grab my foot, although he was pushed back quite a bit, I started to channel electricity into him, but he was...fine? Does he have electrical resistance? He followed through with a punch at me, I curved my body to dodge it, pushing off of it after it passed me, Creak! I could hear the bones in my leg that he was holding on to, make unnatural noises. I struck part of my bone making it break in a weird angle, with it being broken I could lean closer to him. My bone had stabbed through my skin but I was close enough to him now. I punched toward his jaw, he leaned back dodging it but I had other plans.{Blood Bullet}A small drop of blood solidified and shot toward him lining the arm he quickly used to defend his face with holes. I flipped backward creating distance, landing on one foot. Slowly my leg and bones quickly twisted into its correct position. I was having so much fun.
"I''m going to...hurt...you" Aizen seemed to be trying to control his anger
"Wow, do you speak with all the boys like this...or just me?"
That seemed to tip him more towards the edge, He ran...in the opposite direction. Wait, what? He ran towards his sword, quickly grabbed it and started running toward me. Using this chance, I should probably test more of my class skills. I no longer had my sword, so you could consider me defenseless, I bit into my hand like a madman.
{3rd Person Point Of View}
"Mabel...I need to help him" Anson had finally regained consciousness, he hobbled over to Mabel who had Orin on her lap, they inseparable since childhood, although Orin was the weakest, he could also be the bravest when he wanted to be. The young warrior Anson who thought Axle was fighting on their behalf, believed he should take responsibility for his arrogance and help the stranger. He started to make his way towards Axle before a small pair of hands quickly grabbed his trousers with a firm grip.
"An, D-don''t, you can''t see and haven''t seen what I have"
"What? Either way, it''s my duty to help fix a mess I may have caused"
"It isn''t your fault but you know how I can see peoples emotions in the form of aura around them...I could see the light red bloodthirst around the old guy...but the O-other man, It was a F-flood of deep red...it was a flood of bloodlust"
{Axle P.o.V}
He was still rushing at me like a wild bull, I flicked my bloodied hand at him, he seemed to be easily able to dodge the drops of blood, thinking he had bested me...
{Archaic Blood Binding}
Chain emerged from the blood, they had solidified and moved quickly as they had each been embued with my lightning the salt in my blood allowed it to be conductive. They wrapped around him and stopped his charge...or so I thought.
{Enrage}
{Strengthen}
{Feathered Feet}
After I let him buff himself, since it was entertaining to watch, he broke off the chains.
"What are your weak chains going to do now coward!?"
With newfound vigor, he charged at me.
"GO ON! SPILL MORE OF YOUR BLOOD"
He seemed slightly too cocky now.
He was only a meter away from my body now.
Drip! His charge slowed down. Coming to a stop.
"You know, it''s quite annoying since I don''t know if the blood is going to return and completely cause my traps to fail or will my would close and leave my traps in place...it is annoying."
Aizen looked down, to see the pool of blood I had slowly let accumulate, under his feet.
The final class ability I gained at level 0,
{Bloodied Swords}
Blood solidified into multiple spikes and stabbed him in various places across his body, infesting it with holes.
I slowly walked towards the man that was now on his knees, still alive. The spikes had returned to the pool they came from.
Drip, Drip Drip. Blood slowly fell onto his body from the newly opened would on my thumb.
"You know, I can control which directions my blood bullets shoot in or my swords stab in"
The man continued looking downwards, his eyes didn''t meet mine.
"So tell me, I have yet to die...How does it feel to know you feeble lifespan can now be ended by my hands, you can''t escape, you will die as soon as I so choose, how does it feel? Do tell, I''m quite interested you see"
The man only slowly uttered 2 words.
"I concede"
