《Enchanter》 Chapter 01: A Player Joins "I wish I can just enchant and enhance my items infinitely and without any chances of failure!" I shouted as I looked at the screen with a glare, the screen prompted if I would continue enhancing my item, its probability was now below 14%. I have been failing enhancement of weapons and armors since earlier thus I have been cursing a lot. I threw my phone on the bed and threw myself on the bed as well but as I did a window appeared by my vision. "Eh?" It was peculiar. Of course it was! I''m not wearing AR gear or anything, it hasn''t even been created yet! No... is this? "Did I just awaken!?" Awakening. This phenomena happens when a person recieves an ability to fight the monsters. Yes, they exist. The only reason we are able to take this laid back life far from danger was because the awakened people have been fighting off monsters. It is a harsh job, but the payment is good enough so it cancels out. This has occured for more than 15 years now. And this phenomena have become rather normal though still quite rare. I guess in game lingo it would only be UC rarity. I am now turning 20, I''m quite the late bloomer aren''t I? I looked at the window that appeared in my vision intensely. Uses 10 Mana per Enchant, Uses 5 Mana per Enhance] [Eyes of Item Discernment allows the caster to see the item''s maximum enchantment slots and enhancement level as well as the items durability.] Aren''t I awesome? Though my second skill was somewhat common for support class awakened. S-Should I try it? I looked at my shirt and a window display appeared. [- 0 +] I looked at the plus button and thought of "tapping" it three times. [- 3 +] I tried tapping it one more time and without a doubt it increased by one. "So it doesn''t restrict you to increase it." You are fully in control in how much you''d like to enhance an item huh, even if you know its past its maximum enhancement level. It wouldn''t be such a pretty picture after all. Now that I know that I shouldn''t go above the maximum level enhancement or possibly enchantment, everything will be safer for me as well. I tapped Enchant [T-Shirt] and the process immediately started, contrary to my expectations, there was no visible process scene, it ended as fast as it began. I even thought that it may have failed... I activated my ability and looked at the T-Shirt. I haven''t told her about awakening as I didn''t want her to worry. I mean normally awakened beings awaken at the age of 15 or 16, though there had been precedents of ages 16 and up awakening before but even so it was rare. My mom would think that I probably hit my head thinking I was awakened in desperation. The life we led was decent, my mother had a stable job as a manager in a company and my father was a policeman, I had two sisters and two older brothers, I am the very definition of a middle child. We ate three times a day, and I couldn''t ask for anything more. I didn''t have a tragic back story, I guess I was just spoiled. Still, I idolized those who were awakened but upon learning that I didn''t awaken at the age of 15, I felt disappointed at myself. I began to fail classes, repeat years until I could no longer do it, go to class. I closed myself inside my room. Playing games, sleeping, eating. Rinse and repeat. Thinking about it now, I am really spoiled. My parents worry, but never forces me to do things I don''t want to do. They keep on encouraging me. Maybe now... I can finally help ease their workload. And all of these equipments are merely common rarity. I guess I''m lucky that I have enchantment slots for most of my common rarity items and accessories. It seems it is much rare to see an enchantment slot in a common rarity item than I thought. And having two slots of enchantment for uncommon rarity items are as well, I wonder how much I could sell these for? I tried not to put a strong enchantment on one of my items since I thought of selling it through an underground market. Well, there goes my dreams. It was a real letdown. Anyway, I tried not to put unreasonable type of enchantment in this thing. It''s name changed into Biding Armor. In theory, it will absorb 50% of the damage dealt and that 50% will strengthen the wearer or maybe strengthen the armor? Yeah, I have no idea how my ability works. But in any case it should work either way. I heard about an armor that have the same effect before so I assume its not that rare. I''ll think long and hard about how I''ll go with this but for now, even though I''m not physically exhausted I do feel a bit tired, I guess I''ll sleep.

This ability is already cheat like, as it doesn''t need any type of catalyst for the process to work, it only needs mana which I have in abundance. "So? How do I use this?" True enough as long as my eye can see that it can be enchanted and enhanced, it can be done. I can''t really understand my power. It is different from an Imbuer, nor is it similar to a blacksmith. Imbuers are people who enchants equipments, they can only enchant things classified as weapons, armors, and accessories. Unlike me they experience failure in imbuing enchantments and they experience it often. Where as blacksmiths can repair and enhance equipments classified as weapons and armors. Enhancement of accessories are impossible from what I know, though dungeons have accesories that already have been enhanced and is rare enough on its own. "Wait...." The people around wore something that would hide their identities. Some wore a hooded jacket, a mask, and for some reason one of them wore underwear over their face. I''m only selling things why does it feel like I entered a very dangerous place? I took the mask, similar to a wrestler''s one and put it over my head. It doesn''t seem it was enchanted, so I didn''t have to worry too much. I sat by the far east end of the cinema and reached for the mini-binoculars by the arm rest. I activated my ability if the mini-binoculars had been enchanted but it didn''t seem so. Anyway, I can see the stage though a bit blurry. The appraiser seems to be the host of the auction as well. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, now we will be commencing this week''s auction house, the first item for today." One of his assistants pushed the pedestal towards the spotlight revealed a feathered hat. "Oh! $700! Anymore?" "720!" Upon those words the buyers began to compete with each other. But I didn''t care about it at all. After all, I can easily enchant items with a much powerful enchantment. Without failing no less. The auction proceeded without any problems the prices of the auctioned items reached no lower than $2500 each, and no more than $5000. Hearing those numbers made me think what the rings price range will be. Then the time for the rings to be sold came. "Today''s special! We just got a rare set of accessory artifacts. First in our selection is the Blaze Ring! You may inspect the item, if you want!" One by one, the audience began to flock over the Ring. "It''s true... there are two enchantments for this accessory, where''d they find this?" "There are no inscriptions, this must have been found in the dungeon!" "Well then everyone, the bidding starts at $800!" "1000! I bid for $1000" "1100!" The bidding war began, I honestly didn''t think it would be like this, and over a single accessory artifact. Was it really that rare? I let myself out of the auction house to get some fresh air and never went back in, simply waited for the bidding to finish.
"This is your share for the auctioned artifacts, as promised we will be taking 30% of the overall bid." Each ring had been sold for 10,000 a piece, it seems only a single person was able to buy it all. Rich people really are crazy... An envelop with a thick amount of paper was given to me. But as I was about to take it, my hand was stopped midway. "Customer, we would like to know your source, if possible." "I only came here to sell, my master is the one doing the work." "Is that so?" "Yes" As he heard my words, he lets the envelop go and bows his head. "I hope you consider to sell in this establishment in the future." "I''ll tell my master about it." "Thank you very much." I left the auction house. Chapter 05 After selling my items at the auction house, I headed towards the Awakened HQ near the Cardinal District. People wearing armor made of light metal came in and out of the building as if it was a cosplay centre. "I would like to register as an awakened." "Registration fee will be $500." "Here." "Certainly, it has been recieved, please follow our representative to the examination room." Saying so, a woman came out of nowhere and lightly bowed. "Please follow me." She lead me towards the Examination room, it isn''t really much, it has a single machine in it and it reads a person''s mana. (only sold one of the said armors) I saw the ones using my rings at the television, they were awakened and they were newcomers to boot. Using the gate, I was trasported to the dungeon available to my rank. From the Manila Gate, I travelled to the Cavite Gate, which would take about two-three hours. I could travel overseas but, the amount would be too much and besides there are low to mid-tier dungeons located in the philippines... maybe more. The fee was about $800, roughly converting it would be about 43,600 pesos, even with the 10% discount, it would only be 39,240. Normally, awakened don''t use the gate unless it is truly necessary. Since I can''t be away from home for even a day or two, I decided to use it for faster travel. Anyway, right now I am in the Gramada Dungeon located at Dasmari?as. The species in here merely consists of slimes, at least that''s what the current information entails. "There are a lot of people here, huh?" As I headed into the dungeon, I showed my identification to the guard stationed by the dungeons entrance and I was able to get in easily. A number of people could be seen going in and out of the dungeon, it seems to be quite popular with the newly awakened ones. Slimes jumping up and down without worry was easily cut in half by one of the awakened and smiled widely at the sight of it, the slime''s body disperses and leaves something on the ground, a beautiful Black-colored rock about 2cm big. This Black-colored rock is a magic stone of the lowest quality. The use of it is still being researched but one of its current uses are that they can be used as a substitute for energy such as electricity. Oil Refineries, Power Plants and the like had become obsolete because of this, I mean this low-quality magic stones are being amassed by awakened people everyday en masse and bought by the HQ at a daily basis. Anyway, you get the idea. I unsheated the sword with ease and the sword''s ability activates. [Divine Spirit Possession] Contrary to the Ability''s name, it doesn''t actually possess the person but only gives the person the Spirit''s skills and experience. The little fear that I had in my heart disappeared and my grip on the sword''s handle tightened. With a calm beating of my heart, my hastened steps became loud and audible. The smile in my face began to widened. I have no idea on what spirit possessed me, only the experience it had wielding the sword, the happiness of swinging it, and the thought of fighting. A nameless master. Slimes were easily cut with each swing, the black stones immediately enters the pouch that I had in my belt. I rushed the first-fifth floor of the dungeon, as my body became fatigued, I was finally able to put the sword into its sheathe. As I did so, the power I had with me dispersed and a heavy feeling overcame my body. "Haa... Haa..." I-I think I can''t use this for longer than 30 minutes... If I change my gear and used something that rejuvinates stamina then maybe I could indefinitely do it. "But if that were to happen, I''ll be controlled by the sword." When an awakened kills a monsters, the awakened absorb''s the monster''s essence and accumulates it, and once the awakened has accumulated enough essence, he/she is able to level up. This however, rarely occurs to people who awakens, that is because luck plays out on what kind of ability they awaken to and if they somehow got a good ability, even with that they lack battle experience, most awakened die before even leveling up, I guess in a way I''m a bit of a special case! It doesn''t seem like the enchantment works, if I had something over that equipment, maybe because of the system''s interference that''s why such methods of stacking are null. Though equipping ten rings in each fingers work, I don''t really know how the system works but it is reminscent of a game. After all, keeping the game''s balance is what the system is for. Then, what am I? I can seriously tip the game''s balance if I carelessly threw equipments here and there.
