《Short Stories》 War Species Some say that the Human race was born to love, they are hippy morons. Others say that they were born to kill, they are genocidal hypocrites. The last group would say that the Human race was born to simply evolve, closer, but still wrong. The Human race was actually born to be a brake to another race, called the Endtrin. The Humans weren¡¯t meant to exterminate or anything, they were just meant to slow down the progress of the Endtrin. The Endtrin looked exactly like the humans, but they either had white or black hair, and their abilities were determined by their hair color. The Endtrin had two types of people. The first and most common were the Ordins, they had twice the physical attributes as humans. They could run twice as fast and as long, could lift more, and had faster reactions. The second people were more rare, but not by much. They were called the Technic and there was one Technic for every five Ordins. The Technic had the physical attributes of a normal human, but they had traits similar to the magic the humans fascinated about. They could lift things with their minds, light things on fire without touching it, and even heal injuries in seconds. It truly seemed like the Endtrin were superior in every way, but they weren''t. The Endtrin had the birth rate average of two children every ten human years, compared to the human birth rate of one child every year. When the two species met, they both tried their best for peace, but there were terrorists on both sides that were Xenophobic. In just seven years of the first meeting, they were at war. The war was different from what both species were used to. The war had an unusual effect on their bodies and minds. They found that if they killed another intelligent member of a different species, they would gain access to a menu. The menu could be called up at any time, and it displayed everything about the individual. Each characteristic of the person was presented in numbers. People found out that they increased those numbers, it directly affected them. They discovered that they had to kill the other species to gain numbers that they could than distribute to whatever attribute they wanted. However, getting numbers didn''t work unless they used melee weapons, and on few occasions, even handheld guns. People guessed that it only worked with skill based weapons. Now that the explaining is done, I¡¯ll stop talking and start with the story. Chapter 1 The war has been off and on for more than three decades. People constantly wanted to more power, so the wars continued. We were taught that the Humans were evil, that they attacked first, that they would love to kill us and didn''t think anything of it. We weren''t any different. I heard people joking about how many and how they killed the humans. I was sure they laughed about it as well. I laughed about it. It was how I was raised. I grew up in school learning about the best ways to kill the humans. One of the most popular games when I was a kid, and still is, was pretending to be soldiers and imagining the other side as humans. We would use sticks and hit each other with them. It was a violent game, and each of us loved every bit of it. Our mothers hated it when we played it, but our fathers loved it. Broken bones, concussions, and cuts were common. It made us stronger, and even though we knew it was the other children that hit us, we made ourselves believe that they were humans. We developed an instinctual hate for humans, and we had never met one before. I am an Ordin, so I could give and take a punch. I had trained since I was able and become one of the strongest, fastest, and skilled in among my peers. I was accepted into a Earin, or university. There, I learned advanced sciences and techniques. I was trained and taught until I became a killing machine and licenced Fornin Master. Fornin is what the weapons were called. Fornin weapons were made out of energy that would become physical. This physical energy could be made to be sharp, dull, thin, or thick. The weight could also be changed to suit the person. This energy worked a lot like metal, programmable metal. The energy, when solid, could be cut and dented, so they still had to be maintained. Our people, and I¡¯m sure the humans, made movies about some of the most famous battles. It was amazing, stunning, beautiful, and terrifying. Massive shield walls facing each other. Thousands of energy blasts being shot across the fields. Drop ships, deploying soldiers, Artillery shooting down any ship that got too close. People only got levels when they killed each other in melee combat, or in close combat. Due to this, everyone refrained from blasting from a distance. During one of my university classes, one of my professors asked a simple and obvious question, and yet, no one thought or wanted to think about it. ¡°Why? Why are we killing humans and why are they killing us?¡± We replied with an answer that we had been taught to say from birth, ¡°To get stronger!¡± ¡°Why? Why do we need to get stronger? Yes, you should always be the best you can be, but why do we get stronger by killing others?¡± His question stumped us. One of the braver ones replied, ¡°So we may be ready.¡± ¡°Ready for what? Are we expecting to be attacked by a third party? Are we expecting to require lifting metric tons, or run four hundred kilometers per hour, or jump hundreds of meters in the air? Why are we teaching our children to be proud of killing another? Why are you excited to kill a human? Why are each of you being taught to kill instead of learning things that won''t get you killed? We are in a constant war of the need of power, and revenge because of the need for power. Why?¡± We still had an hour of class, but he just walked out and canceled class for the week. He left us sitting there. Usually everyone would be talking and playing around like normal collage kids, but for the rest of class, no one spoke, no one moved. We were all thinking about his question. Why were we fighting? It took the rest of the week to come to a solid response. Its because it was fun. I had a ton of fun fighting the other kids. Sure it hurt to be hit dozens of times before being knocked unconscious, but it was fun. It was fun to constantly prove yourself in front of others and yourself. What is a better way of proving yourself? Knowledge tests? Anyone could easily compete. On the battlefield, you knew that each soldier had proven themselves to be there. You knew that each was going to try their hardest, otherwise they would die. You knew you had won as they fall to the ground. You knew you had won when you saw all hope escape from their eyes. No one liked to admit it, but all living things loved to be on top at all times and costs. There was a reason that warriors respected each other. Even if one had been defeated by another. Each was willing to die to become stronger, and each knew that if they defeated a strong opponent, they were that much closer to being on top. Sorry about the psychological stuff. I was sitting in a drop ship with ninety nine other men and women that were being sent to their post. Each of them were ready to kill and be killed. We had to be. If we weren''t ready to die, we wouldn''t be able to kill without crippling our minds. That''s actually what the humans call PTSD, refusing the idea of your death. Those that were ready to die, didn''t have problems when it almost happens. Anyway, our first post was on a Space Carrier, or more specifically, a Fifth class Titan. Space battles were the most ¡®peaceful¡¯ battles. The ships would generally try to launch EMPs to disable the enemy ships. Each ship would fire off intercepting missiles. During this exchange of millions of projectiles, landers would be trying to get across without being hit and try to breach the hull of the enemy ship and drop soldiers inside. The landers that were hit by EMPs would just drift there until they were blasted apart with a missle or until the battle was over. For the little landers, which could still transport a hundred men, one EMP permanently disabled the lander. For the massive ships, which could hold millions of men comfortably, they would have to be hit by hundreds of EMPs to just disable them for an hour. Anyway, I was one of the Lander Troops, or as the humans called them, StormTroopers. I knew each of the men and women that was in my Lander OP. We had been trained together for two years. We were all in our early twenties, while I had turned twenty last month. Twenty was considered very young for our race. Old age was considered two hundred. Wow, I keep getting off track. Our commanding officer, Unium Escen, ordered us to get ready to dock at the carrier. We all made sure our equipment and armor was perfect as could be and ready for combat. It wasn''t rare for new troops to be sent to battle the moment they got stationed. The doors opened and another Unium marched us out. We marched in unison, and I remembered a time when I was younger when seeing the troops march instilled pride. Back to the present, we were marched to the Landers. We got in and strapped in. We were being launched. One of us asked the Unium, ¡°Sir, how many enemy ships and units are we expecting?¡± He turned to face us before he closed the doors, ¡°Unims, this will be the largest Space battlefield this decade. Eighty enemy cruisers. Thirty enemy battleships. Each cruiser is expected to have two million. Your lander will be part of the one hundred lander Shock force. You will be launched at the docking hanger, and are to secure the hanger until more men arrive.¡± He closed the doors, and the lights went out. We all lost count of time, but we knew we had been in there, in the dark, for more than an hour, before the red light went on. Any whispering that was going on, stopped immediately. We all knew what the light meant. We were being launched. The light turned off again, and we were launched. Up and down didn''t mean anything while in space, but I knew we were spinning in perspective of the ships. The engineers programmed the thrusters so when we latched on, we would be upright to the enemy ship¡¯s gravity. I heard multiple people silently praying to whatever god they believed in. I prayed to whatever god the enemy prayed to and asked that they would ignore their prayers. I believe in a god, but I also believed that gods should let us kill each other without their interference. If the gods insisted on our freedom of choice, then let us exercise it without them getting in the way. The worst and possibly best part about warfare in space, is that there was no sound. We had no idea if and when a missle of EMP got close or hit. There were no windows, no way of telling what was happening. All we knew was that we were moving and we could, at anytime, be blown to bits. Luckily, we made it, evident by the harsh impact and loud noise. The light turned on again and we all detached from our seats. ¡°Vanguard up front!¡± It didn''t need to be said, but was still said. I was one such Vanguard. We were equipped with Tower shields, Spears, and Short swords. The Middle guard consisted of spearman equipped with heater shields and short swords. The rear guard were the ranged. We had gotten around the no ranged rule, by attaching a Fornin link to the gun, which was held by the user. Whatever gave us our levels would go through the projectile and into the user, giving the levels. The connection would only last a few seconds after it was fired, before it just left the arrow in the target Unfortunately, Fornin, if unaffected by an outside force could only reach a hundred fifty meters before naturally snapping off and dissolving. We didn''t order to shoot until we were at least a hundred meters, that way it would have some strength behind it and couldn''t be snapped off easily by the enemy. These guns were more like harpoon guns, because it looked like they were shooting an arrow out of a gun. It also had to be reloaded manually after each shot, so each user had a quiver. Luckily the user only had to shove the arrow down the barrel, no tricky reload process. Currently our formation was complete and ready to get bloodied. The doors opened and the as the Vanguard we braced ourselves. The moment the door opened a sliver, dozens of arrows shot through, all at the one target they could shoot at, the man directly in the middle of the doors. His shield blocked more than a dozen, but the Fornin could only take so much. His shield shattered, and eight arrows imbedded themselves inside of his body. One of the reserve vanguard took his place and we marched forward. We met medium resistance. The enemy had yet to form a proper defence as they had no previous info about where our landers would penetrate their ship. Our archers released their volley. Only half hit their targets, the other half either missed or hit shields. As stressful as this was, I could still appreciate the beauty of Fornin as it streaks overhead. Fornin¡¯s natural color was blue, and no one had found a way of making it another color, and it did its job so who cared. Fornin Shields were too thick to be see through, but the weapons weren¡¯t, and they looked like glass. Their defence consisted of heater shields, short swords, and guns. There weren''t many, but more were coming every moment as their defence got more and more men. Our helmet¡¯s HUD informed us to move at a double march. A double march was at the speed of a speed walk, which was very fast while in formation. Nonetheless, we sped up. We met their formation, and for the first time, I experienced what the veterans said. Humans were weak. Each of our spear thrusts buckled their defence. Our individual targets would be tossed. Those that were unlucky enough not to get a shield in front of them, were impaled and thrown away. The lucky of those were killed quickly, few were that lucky. Melee weapons had a pretty low instant mortality rate. The vast majority of people would be cut, and lay on the ground, bleeding to death. We left a trail of bodies and blood. We had landed in the hanger and had were quickly securing it. We weren''t the only landers to make it. My HUD showed me that forty two of the hundred landers had hooked into the ship. A dozen had hooked in parts of the ship that wasn''t the hanger. That meant we had thirty landers to deal with the tens of thousands of humans. Three thousand against tens of thousands, and those were just the men that were currently in the hanger. It would seem impossible, but there was a reason we Endtrins only got a tenth of the levels of our opponents while the humans got half. We could easily kill ten of them. Of course, we were losing men as well. It had only been a few minutes of combat and we had already lost nearly two hundred men, but I was sure we had made them lose at least a thousand, most likely more. The standard formation was simple. The vanguard, me, would focus on defending and keeping the enemy away. The Middle guard would use their spears to stab at any that got too close. The rear guard would shoot at the enemy, trying to disrupt the enemy formation. You might think that the vanguard wouldn''t get many levels that way, but actually, it split the XP with all who assisted in the kill, to a max of three. If more assisted, only three that contributed the most would get the XP. So yes, the middle still got the most XP and therefore levels, but the vanguard didn''t go levelless. The enemy were starting to form up as a whole near the entrance of the hanger, or I guess the exit of the hanger leading to the rest of the ship. They wanted to keep us in the hangar where they could use the space with their numbers, once we got into the hallways, our superior strength would crush any resistance. Our men quickly, and wordlessly combined into a single formation. Any standard formation that had more than a thousand men would have to ranks of each guard, meaning that each guard was two men thick. The archers would stagger their shot so only one rank was firing at a time, this allowed for continuous shots. Of course, the human formation wasn''t pathetic. According to ancient human history our fighting style resembled that of the greeks with our spears while their style matched that of the roman legions. Their formation was made mostly of tower shields, with a small slit for their short swords, and they formed a massive testudo. Their shields were connected together uses technology that resembled that of magnets. Strong enough to prevent a man charging, but if that man tried to pull the shields apart, they would split. They literally looked like a box. A box with hundred of glowing short swords sticking out of it, ready it stab at any living thing that got too close. This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. The way things were looking, the battle could go either way. Time was not on our side, so we had to hurry. If we held our position, we would save more lives sooner, but we would also be constantly attacked, and eventually taken out. Once we had taken the hanger, we could slowly take the halls and have a zone we could rest and guard. We slowly marched forward. The vanguard deactivated their spears, and they retracted to less than foot long pole. We drew our short swords and held them towards the enemy, but at our hips. The Middle guard held their spears on our shoulders, ready to thrust forward. Once we were five feet away, our spearmen attacked. Their thrusts jostled the enemy ranks, but did little to no damage, not that it was the point. With them off balance, the vanguard sprinted the last few feet, bashing into them and pushing them further back. We had already pushed them four feet back, but they held their ground. The men on the frontlines of both sides used their short swords and stabbed at each other. Our stabbing wasn''t meant to kill, our stabbing was meant to distract. Our spearmen were doing the real damage, but the humans were focused more on defence. One of them fell rarely, and their position was quickly filled. None of us fell. We were winning, but not fast enough. My shield was starting to take too much of a beating. Fornin naturally fixed itself, but it required time without taking any damage. Luckily, my HUD told me to switch. Me and the rest of the frontline vanguard, simultaneously smashed our shields into the enemy. They weren''t expecting it and was pushed back nearly two feet, the second row of vanguard took advantage and took our positions. Now as the second row of vanguard we would support the first row by watching their blind spots and constantly preventing them from being shoved back by shoving our shields into their backs. Streaks passed overhead. The arrows were hard to figure out which direction they were shot, and the colors were all blue. We switched positions two more times before I checked the clock on my HUD. It read 2:36. We had been launched into the hanger at 2:12. Apparently we had been fighting for twenty four minutes. Both Human and Endtrin archers had run out of arrows. It had become a stand still. It only took a minute for my opinion to change. Through the miniscule gaps of the human formation, I saw many more human men marching towards us from the hall. I informed everyone else with just a thought. One by one they all reported that they understood. A danger notification popped up, blocking part of my vision. Our formation completely collapsed and we all ran in multiple directions. We weren''t a second too soon. Just as the last of us got out of the way, and the Humans were left confused, a lander crash landed into them. The humans were crushed and the few that weren''t ran over, were quickly disposed. The crash landing had injured more than a dozen of our men. We worked on getting the injured into a designated safe zone of the hanger. Once the hanger was clear of hostiles, we commanded the men in the crashed lander to open the rear door. They complied and we rushed in. I was the third man in and I could see multiple men and women that had died during the crash, the majority being Technics. We Ordins were much stronger and could withstand the crash, but the Technic were as weak as humans. The surviving men and women had formed a standard defensive line at the lander¡¯s main door. They were holding off the surviving humans that were in the hallway. Once the rest of us joined them, we quickly annihilated the remaining humans. We were ordered to take a rest as more landers arrived. During our short rest, we were each sent a map of the approximate locations of the mislauched landers. It only took a few minutes for us to be rested and impatient for combat. As we had been trained to do, we hadn''t looked at the recently opened menus, as it would distract us from the mission. We got into formation and marched forward. We quickly swept through the ship, joining with other Endtrin groups and wiping out the human squad we encountered. We eventually captured the whole ship except for the bridge. Currently, we were formed up outside of it, setting breaching charges. We had almost finished when we were contacted by the human ship commander. His face appeared on each of our HUDs. ¡°You have fought valiantly, it is your win. However, as a popular statement from our world says, ¡®The captain goes down with his ship.¡¯. So I will give you a choice. One, leave within ten minutes. Two, be blown apart.¡± I immediately set a timer for nine minutes forty seconds, not that I needed to. Our Archers readied themselves in front of the door. Our demolitionist activated the charges and our archers all fired into the room before the smoke cleared. As they reloaded, the Vanguard charged in. We met very little resistance, and the archers had killed the majority in their first volley, including the commander. Setting up guards and a defencive, we used the ship¡¯s scanners to locate the last few surviving humans and taking prisoners. Once we had all the human¡¯s accounted for, we contacted our Flagship. We were ordered to hold our positions. So we did. I was stationed in the Bridge, so I was able to watch events unfold on the battlefield of space. We were winning, but not by much. Unfortunately for both races, our landers were good for one use before needing repair. That meant that regardless of being a human or Endtrin lander, once launched, there was no correction. We had captured twenty of their eighty cruisers and four of their twenty battleships. On the other hand, they had taken twelve of our cruisers and six of our battleships. It took half an hour, but the result was as expected. After losing twenty three cruisers and five battleships, the retreated, taking the ships they captured with them. Over all, we had gained ships while they lost some. It was a victory. It took awhile, but we managed to get the fleet back to a friendly Spaceport. The ships that were too damaged to continue traveling space were left there to be repaired. Those that could still travel were ordered to go to Andrean. Andrean was a planet renown for its vast grassy meadow that spread throughout more than ninety percent of the planet. Everyone of us knew why we were going there and what was going to happen. Andrean was in a very strategic area. If you could secure Andrean, you had a staging point to secure the nearby five planets. We only cared because the we had intel that the Humans were heading there. We were to prevent them from capturing the planet. Meanwhile, everyone that had been with me while capturing the enemy ship, were ordered to the audience room. It was time for orientation. We all quieted down as an officer walked up to the podium. ¡°Congrats on your first kills. As you know, with your kills comes a menu. This menu can be pulled up with a thought, go ahead.¡± He paused for a moment for everyone to bring their menu up. It really did only take a thought to pull it up. Vale ¡®Private¡¯ Dunmorn Strength: 23 Dexterity: 21 Intelligence: 17 Wisdom: 48 Kills: 12 Assists: 42 Favorite Tactic: Shield Wall Points Available: 33 Education: University Philosophy: Kill them before they kill you Renown: 4 Reputation: Average soldier Specialty: Tactics ¡°You can change the format of this menu however you want. This first time you bring it up, is personalized to make it easy for you to understand. Now for your stats, if you are an Ordin, physical attributes seventeen through twenty is average for civilians while twenties are average for soldiers. For Technics, Intelligence and wisdom will be in the high twenties for you. For the points you have available, it is a very simple equation. Each kill equals one point. Each assist equals half a point. Each Skilled kill equals five to ten points. A skilled kill is earned when the opponent is much stronger than you, but you still kill him. We recommend that you get your highest stat up to fifty immediately, then work on getting each one there. At fifty, you get a bonus. This bonus is commonplace amongst veteran soldiers, so get it.¡± He walked off and another officer walked up and the screen behind him lit up. The screen displayed four Endtrin, each wildly different from the next. ¡°Now in case you wish to know, which you should, these stats affect your body. Let¡¯s say you dump all your points into strength. Normally you¡¯d be like this one,¡± he pointed to the huge figure. He was so huge that his muscles were disgusting. ¡°This is not the case. This is what your body would look like if you had two hundred points in strength, but due to the bonuses, it keeps your body looking natural. You will still look big and strong, but you won''t look like a freak. Look at the other examples for info about the other stats and what they would look like and what they do look like.¡± There was one where one was stick thin, Dexterity. One with a huge head, Intelligence. Finally one that looked normal. Fortunately another asked before I had to. ¡°Why does Wisdom look normal?¡± ¡°Because Wisdom doesnt affects your mind, but how fast it can process info, not how smart you are. Intelligence makes you smarter, but Wisdom just lets you figure things out about things that you already know about. Now we won''t force you, but please get your stats to fifty, starting with the highest.¡± My highest was Wisdom and was only two away, so I placed two points in. Lesser Sage: You have achieved Wisdom 50. You are able to identify and process info much faster than most. +25% thought speed, +25% Sight As soon as finished reading that notification, it was instantly easier to think. When I looked up, I could identify much more and saw much clearer and further. It confused me, but that vanished quickly, about why wisdom would affect sight. Your eyes could see much clearer than we see, but our minds limit it so it doesn''t overload. ¡°I see from some of you that you are already experiencing those bonuses. Each stat has a different bonus. There will be another bonus when a stat reaches one hundred, but first get all your stats to fifty. The bonus for fifty is much easier and better than one hundred.¡± ¡°Are there more bonuses after one hundred?¡± Asked a private. ¡°Yes. We believe that after one hundred, each bonus comes every hundred, but currently, the highest stat in history is two hundred twelve. Think long and hard what to do with your points. You have until tomorrow to think before we reach Andrean. I recommend getting all your points in your stats before the battle. Dismissed!¡± Everyone went their own way, but most squads stuck together. Each squad consisted of five. My squad decided that we would meet up during dinner, so I had an hour to think about the rest of my stats. I had thirty one points to distribute. That meant that I could get either Strength or Dexterity to fifty, but not both. I decided to go do some research about the bonuses. I went to the nearest open terminal. These terminals were placed throughout the entire ship. Hallways, barracks, bridge, ECT. Anyway, I walked up to the terminal, entered in my password, and did a search about the bonuses. I saw that info about bonuses level hundred fifty and up were locked. It made sense, but still annoyed me. After All, they wouldn''t want info about their strongest soldiers being known by everyone. The bonuses for Strength were the first to pop up. Lesser Knight: You have achieved Strength 50. You are able To work longer and more efficiently. -25% Energy used, +25% Muscle Density Knight: You have achieved Strength 100. You are able learn physical activities faster and can work more efficiently. +25% Muscle Memory, +25% Muscle Density It seemed like as your Strength leveled, your body becomes more¡ efficient. I guess. It didn''t make you huge like I thought it did, in fact it probably made you smaller. The first bonus seemed to work together. If you used less energy, but your body also used it better, than you could work much longer. So, if I got the first bonus, I could work fifty percent longer. Now for the Dexterity bonuses. Lesser Ranger: You have achieved Dexterity 50. You are able to feel yourself and your surroundings better. +25% Bodily Sense, +25% Perception Ranger: You have achieved Dexterity 100. You are able to perceive your surroundings more effectively and have better Hand Eye coordination. +25% Perception, +25% Hand-Eye Coordination That would be very useful for those that use the guns, and maybe even the spears. As a Vanguard it would be useful to be able to see more and have that extra quarter second of being able to feel the blade hit me. If I could feel the blade sooner, than I could jump back, preventing the worst of the damage. It would be a large help to also be able to see more, or I guess recognize more. Now for Intelligence. Lesser Scholar: You have achieved Intelligence 50. You are able to learn faster and gain Minor Telekinesis (See Skills List) +25% Learn speed (Side note: Does not include muscle memory), Minor Telekinesis Scholar: You have achieved Intelligence 100. You are gain Photographic Memory and the ability to identify other¡¯s strongest stat. Photographic Memory, Minor Identify Interesting, this could be used for so many things, but first I would have to search up the Minor Telekinesis. Minor Telekinesis: Allows user to move anything that weighs a Kilogram or less, in line of sight, in radius of meter, and isn¡¯t fixed to the ground. (Technics are born with this ability or a stronger version of this) It kind of sounded pathetically weak, but it would have its uses. I could move an incoming weapon, or maybe even move something attached to the enemy to move him off balance. The last stat to research was Wisdom. So I went back to the stats description and scrolled down to the Wisdom stat. Lesser Sage: You have achieved Wisdom 50. You are able to identify and process info much faster than most. +25% thought speed, +25% Sight Sage: You have achieved Wisdom 100. You are able to See calculations and solve them easily. +25% Thought speed, CalculaMind I did a quick search about CalculaMind. It was exactly as it sounded. It made the user¡¯s mind see the calculations of objects casually. For example, it you looked at an arch, it would analyze it and the user would just know the angle, the material (if the user knows about the material), and even the amount of pressure exerted on the keystone. All of this didn''t make the user more intelligent. The user had to know everything before hand, but this allowed the user to figure something they could have anyway, faster. To figure out the pressure exerted on the keystone, the user had to know the weight of the material, the strength of the gravity, and other similar factors. I closed the windows of my research and headed to the mess hall. It was still an hour before dinner, but I just sat down against a wall and thought about my stats. I eventually decided to get my strength and place the rest of my stats in intelligence. I really wanted to get Telekinesis. I suspected that Minor Telekinesis evolved into standard Telekinesis, then into greater Telekinesis, but I didn''t know. I just thought that it would be cool awesome if I could lift up the enemy¡¯s weapons and launch them at each other. As I was entertaining the thought of battles like that, my squad arrived individually. We chatted for a while before we got up to get the food. Hugin, as always, got four plates and was already contemplating going back for more. He was the other Vanguard in our group, and you could see that just by looking at him. He was literally a walking mountain. He was massive, with muscles much larger than my head. During Basic, everyone called him GiantKin, because he looked like he was at least sixty percent giant. In some of our battle drills, he used duel shields and bashed through the enemy lines. That may not seem impressive, but our shields weighed ten kilograms, and during training, they were twice that. He carried twenty kilograms in each hand, and could, and would, sprint faster than most others. He was currently the strongest man I had ever met. Dubon, was walking closely behind Hugin. He always walked behind him because Dubon was always reading on his tablet, and didn''t look were he was walking. Dubon could still see Hugin over his tablet, and Hugin automatically cleared a path. Dubon was one of our MidGuard, and was a Technic. The Supernatural of the Modern World Chapter 1 He woke up feeling as he always did, hungry, tired, and even though he just woke up, he was bored. Nothing interesting had happened for the thirty seconds he had been awake. But he knew he had to get up or John would wake him up with ice and water. He got up and saw himself in the mirror. He was pretty much an average kid except for two things, his hair was Dark brown and slightly curly, and his eyes, his eyes were silver and they changed colors. Every time he got seriously emotional depending on the emotion his iris would change color. When he was mad red would be in the iris of the eye, sad is blue, neutral is white, and etc. He was slightly stronger, faster, and agile than other kids his age, but he never cared enough to do his best. Because he was so ¡°slow¡±, all the other kids picked on him. The boys tripped him and hit him, but the girls spread rumors and lies about him that caused all the kids he didn''t even know to avoid him. ¡°Get down here Aaron!¡± Yelled John ¡°you''re going to be late for the bus.¡± ¡°Coming! ¡° replied Aaron as he ran down the stairs he remembered that he forgot to get dressed, so he rushed back to his room to get dressed. When he was dressed and had his backpack, he ran back down and into the kitchen where on the table was a bowl full of Cheerios. John walked back into the kitchen to get his wallet. John was a construction worker and even though the school had records saying John was Aaron¡¯s guardian, John was just a babysitter for Aaron¡¯s parents. That was seven years ago. After the first month of Aaron¡¯s parents disappearance, John decided to take Aaron into his home until his parents came back. ¡°You better finish up or you''re going to be late.¡± Said John ¡°I know.¡± Replied Aaron ¡°Then why aren''t eating?¡± No comment came from Aaron. Aaron finished his cereal, grabbed his backpack, and ran outside. He ran to the bus stop at the lowest speed he could do but still reach the bus stop on time. Aaron arrived before the bus had and he saw that so had a couple of other kids, this is the reason he wanted to arrive at the last moment. Ethan, the school jerk. He would pick on anyone, but he would focus his attention on Aaron. ¡°Argon! Your early.¡± Ethan would also always get Aaron¡¯s name wrong to irritate him , ¡°Were you just desperate for your next beating?¡± Asked Ethan with a sneer, Aaron ignored him, seeing the bus coming around the corner. The bus stopped in front of the group of kids waiting to get on. When the door opened Ethan and his goons shoved their way to the front so they could get on first. When they all got on, everyone was in their usual spots. All the cheerleaders took up two rows, the basketball team taking one row, Ethan and his goons taking up three rows, and as usual Aaron was sitting alone. Which Aaron preferred. When they got to school, it was basically the same as before. Ethan shoves his way to the front, Aaron the last off the bus. While other kids may go find their friends, Aaron''s would always go straight for his first class. When he got to his language art class he noticed that their was another person there. As he got to his seat he noticed that the ¡°person¡± was in fact a girl, not only that but she was one of the most beautiful girl Aaron had ever seen. Of course that was not the only trait that Aaron would consider beautiful in a girl, there is also her personality. Before Aaron could say she was beautiful in all ways he would need to find out her personality. The bell rang. Within a couple of seconds the classroom doorway was flooded with kids. When everyone was seated, the teacher, Mr.bulsar, stood up from his desk and walked to the front of the classroom. ¡°Welcome to class today. Guess what?¡± Asked Mr.bulsar, oh no ¡°I''m giving you your the next assignment,¡± he let the class complain ¡°but this time you will have partners. I know at the beginning of the school year I said I would give no partnered assignments, that was because back then we had an uneven class, but not anymore. Please stand up.¡± The girl Aaron noticed stood up. As soon as she did, all the boys started whispering to each other. ¡°Hi, my name is Sarah. Just came from Texas and yes I like horses.¡± Said Sarah, then she sat down. Even though she said it happily, without a sign of shyness, Aaron heard that what she said was perfect to cancel all questions that might have been asked, he also noted that there was the tiniest of hesitation, which could mean that she was emotional or lying. Why would she lie about what she liked and where she lived? ¡°So about the partner assignment, do we get to choose our partners?¡± Asked George. George was on the basketball team. ¡°Yes.¡± Replied Mr.bulsar, the answer was met with loud approval. ¡°Crap, that means I''ll be with somebody who doesn''t want to be partners and that girl will be the first to be partners with somebody.¡± Thought Aaron ¡°OK everyone sit with your partners so I can get you partnered up in the computer.¡± Everyone Sat with their partners. Aaron was surprised to find out that Sarah was without a partner and of course so was he. ¡°Well, since everyone has a partner except you two, you''ll be partners.¡± Announced Mr.bulsar ¡°She already hates me.¡± Thought Aaron ¡°back into your original seats. OK, the assignment is to learn and memorize a language and to write a ten page story in that language,¡± he paused for the moans then continued ¡°stop complaining, my teacher had us memorize four languages in three months and I''m asking for one language in six months. You will turn them in on the last day before half term in fourth quarter. For your information, you could skip an entire semester and as long as you got an A on the assignment you would pass the class.¡± The class went on like that, Mr.bulsar would say something and the kids would complain. After class Aaron was approached by Sarah ¡°Hi, my name is Sarah and I guess we are partners then.¡± Said Sarah ¡°Yeah I guess.¡± replied Aaron as he took a step back ¡°So let''s meet at lunch to discuss our project.¡± Said Sarah as she took a step closer to Aaron ¡°yeah that will be perfect.¡± Said Aaron, he turned to leave because he felt his blood rising to his cheeks, ¡°So where should we meet?¡± Asked Sarah, Aaron took a moment to think it through ¡°the library.¡± ¡°OK, see you there.¡± And she left. The next two classes went like a blur and at lunch, Aaron went to meet Sarah. When he saw her he noticed that she had on jeans that showed off her curves but not too much to be considered inappropriate. She was also wearing a simple White T-shirt. ¡°Hello Sarah.¡± she looked up and noticed him ¡°oh hi.¡± Aaron opened the door for Sarah ¡°A gentleman? Now that is definitely rare these days.¡± Said Sarah with a surprised look on her face, Aaron chuckled ¡°Well, my guardian would kill me if he found out I didn''t open the door for a lady. So this is kind of a favor for both of us, you don''t have to open the door and I don''t die. Seems like a good deal.¡± they were walking toward one of the tables when Sarah suddenly stopped and turned, ¡°Your life is worth more than opening a door.¡± Then she turned around again and started walking toward one of the tables. Aaron, again being a gentleman, pulled her chair out and pushed her in. ¡°You know, to someone else it would look like you''re hitting on me.¡± She said with a shy grin, that made Aaron blush so hard that he had to put his head into his hands ¡°wow. Did you really have to say that?¡± Asked Aaron with his head still in his hands. Sarah laughed ¡°of course silly.¡± After they stopped laughing and grinning they got right down to business, ¡°So am we going to your house or mine?¡± Asked Sarah ¡°We could go to my house,¡± Replied Aaron ¡°you could come at five-thirty.¡± ¡°OK, but just curious, is the reason you set the time so late, so you could clean your room?¡± Asked Sarah with a playful face ¡°No. My guardian would not like it if you are there when he is not and he gets home at that time.¡± ¡°OK bye.¡± Said Sarah as she stood up. Just as they grabbed their backpacks, the bell rang. Aaron ran to his class which was P.E.. When he got there he ran into the locker room and changed. When he got back Into the gym he paused, something was missing¡ oh. Aaron was pushed hard and nearly sent him to the floor, ¡°hello runt.¡± Said Ethan with a sneer and he was about to push Aaron again when the coach blew his whistle for everyone to get into their positions. Aaron just walked off but Ethan stood there for a second then walked to his spot. The coach announced some stuff then he also announced a new student ¡°Hi, I''m Sarah some of you know me already but hi.¡± And with that she she the empty spot in the front of the gym. After some basic exercises, the coach yelled for attention, which he didn''t have to do since everyone was looking at him. ¡°Today we are going to plate dodgeball. Boys love this moment because it only happens twice a semester, and girl stop complaining just because you don''t want to get hit. Let''s play! This half of the court a team that half a team. Play ball!¡± Sarah was on the other team and so far she was at the front waiting for a ball to come at her. She was half crouched with her hands out stretched out ready to grab the first ball that came her way but still be ready to dodge. ¡°If she is going to play for real then so will I.¡± Thought Aaron. Aaron stood up from his crouch, so he would be seen as an ¡°easy¡± target. It did not take long for someone to throw the ball at him, but this person was smart and attacked from his peripheral vision. Aaron moved half a step to the left so the ball passed by him inches away. Another ball came at him and this time he caught it and within a blink of an eye he threw it at another person, hitting them. Two people out in a thirty person game in less than a minute. Three balls came at Aaron at the same time in three different directions. He didn''t think, he just dropped to the floor. When he looked up he saw Ethan and his goons grabbing more balls. Aaron got to his knees only to have to roll to his side to avoid being hit. Instead of getting to his knees, Aaron went to his back, and launched himself off his back onto his feet. Aaron saw that it was only him and three other kids, against seven kids on the other team. On his team there was Michael, the basketball captain, George, one of the only geniuses with a six pack and on a sports team, and Abigail, one of those stupid cheerleaders who was currently looking at her nails. On the other team was Ethan, a football jock and bully, and his two goons, who have no free will, Fred, Haley, and Gregory were very average kids, and Sarah. Aaron had scanned both teams in less than a second. Sarah was focused on Mikael as she reached for a ball. Ethan threw a ball at Abigail, and it hit her in the right shoulder. Abigail made a face and walked off the court, holding the wrong shoulder. Sarah threw the ball but Michael dodged, and he retaliated by throwing his ball. Fred threw his ball but Aaron caught it, ¡°OUT!!!¡± Yelled coach. Michael threw his ball at Gregory but missed by inches and hit Haily in the back. Now with only three against five, Aaron, Michael, and Greg stood more of a chance. Ethan was using his goons as human shields. Sarah was using two balls as a defence and offence. Gregory was huddling in the corner of the court, to lessen the angle they could him. Michael stood with a ball in one hand and his other hand ready to catch. Greg had one ball up to block and another by his side. Aaron stood with no ball, no stance and had his head up to the sky with his eyes closed, ¡°Aaron, wake up we need you.¡± Whispered Michael ¡°hold on. I''m thinking¡± answered Aaron Aaron didn''t hear or see the ball coming, he sensed it. He bent his back and did a backflip. Another ball came at him and he caught it. He used the ball to block another ball from hitting his face. When he lowered his ball his eyes were still closed. One of Ethan¡¯s goons walked of the court. Sarah threw a ball at Greg and hit him on his arm. As he walked off, Ethan threw a ball at Michael, but he dodged it. Michael threw his ball at Ethan but Ethan pulled his goon in front of him. It hit the goon and he walked off the court. Now it was two against three. Michael threw a ball and it hit Gregory in the back of the head. Two V.S. two. Michael looked at Aaron and said, ¡°do you know what a fake out is?¡± ¡°Yeah.¡± And without a seconds hesitation Michael faked a throw but Aaron was the one who threw the ball. The ball hit Ethan in the chest while he was focused on Michael. Michael smiled, but then frowned as a ball very lightly hit his leg. He walked off saying to Aaron, ¡°Watch out for her.¡±. He had no idea. One against one, closest game ever since Aaron was in seventh grade. The other kids were shouting to finish the game, either so they could get back in or to see who wins, probably both. ¡°Well this is exciting. I''ve talked to some people and they all say you are a wimp with no skill. What I''ve seen says other wise.¡± Said Sarah in a half crouch ¡°They think what they want, I''ve never stopped them, and never will.¡± Replied Aaron. Sarah threw a ball and Aaron dodged easily. Sarah looked at the shouting crowd, ¡°They want blood. Shall we give them a show?¡± Asked Sarah ¡°Sure why not.¡±. In an instant Sarah threw a ball and rolled to grab another. Aaron dodged and threw his ball, Sarah dodged his ball and returned with two balls. Aaron ducked under the balls and threw his other ball. And it went on like that for half an hour. Sarah would throw a ball, Aaron would Dodge or block and then throw his ball, the balls would always hit the walls or floor with a bang. The players were like dancers, never still, and never wasting a move. The Shower Bell rang, and the game was still going on. ¡°Daren, Chennai! Get the balls! The rest of you to the locker rooms!¡± Yelled Coach. As the class was walking to the locker rooms, Aaron was approached by Michael, ¡°Dude, there is only one word for that. Wow! That was awesome! Where did you learn to do that?¡± Asked Michael ¡°Nowhere, I have never had a teacher, tutor, or taught myself. This stuff has always come naturally.¡± By now they were at the locker rooms. ¡°That stuff doesn¡¯t just happen. But I don''t care, will you come to basketball signups tomorrow?¡± ¡°I''ll have to ask, but yeah I''ll try.¡± ¡°Good you would be awesome.¡± And with that Michael walked to his locker. After Gym Aaron was approached by Sarah. ¡°Hi, so are we still on for tomorrow at five thirty?¡± ¡°Yeah. Why wouldn''t we?¡± Asked Aaron with a concerned look on his face ¡°well usually when I show boys what I can do they get scared about me beating them in anything.¡± ¡°That was amazing. We should do it again. After all, we need to break the tie.¡± ¡°Yeah we do. Well bye.¡± As she walked away Aaron whispered ¡°bye.¡± The next class was Science, but for Aaron it was simple. Whenever the teacher called upon Aaron, he answered, and then would lean back and close his eyes. When he closed his eyes he tried to remember how he did what he did in the Gym. He knew that he did it he just didn¡¯t know how. When it happened he just did what his instincts told him to do, he didn¡¯t even think about what he did, he just did. The last bell of the day rang and Aaron, even though he was leaning back with his eyes closed, was the first person out of the door. Aaron¡¯s Science class was on the top floor of a third story building, but he still was one of the first people out the doors. He was the first to the Buses but he knew they wouldn¡¯t leave for the next ten minutes and even then they would take another five minutes to reach his house. So, he ran. He ran all the way to his house. Aaron first checked his room, picked up a few things, then went on a scan of the entire house. He locked john`s room, and office. Aaron cleaned the bathroom, the entryway, living room, kitchen, and everything else Sarah might see while at Aaron''s house. One of John¡¯s weird commands was that Aaron go outside and practice staff fighting from the time he got back from school to the time John got home from work, and so that is what he did. Aaron grabbed his hardened oak staff and went outside. When he was outside, Aaron started spinning. Slowly at first, then gradually growing faster. Though his head Aaron reviewed the day, something he usually did while staff practicing, but he didn¡¯t think about what homework he was assigned or what his teachers said, but instead to Sarah and Michael. He thought about how Sarah had played dodgeball and about how Michael had asked him to come try out for the Basketball team. How would this meeting with Sarah go? How would the Basketball tryout go? So many interesting things have happened ever since this girl, Sarah, appeared. Eventually Aaron was spinning his staff so fast it was just a blur. He now started to spin it in front of him, and then slowly put it above his head, still spinning. Aaron then suddenly threw it up in the air, while it was still spinning, caught it and in the same smooth action and spun behind his back. Aaron ducked and let the staff spin across his back. He then took it in his hands and plunged it in the ground. The staff went in six inches and snapped in half. Panting, Aaron looked up to see John standing right in front of the back door. ¡°I¡¯m not buying another, and you''re grounded everyday you don''t practice.¡± Then John walked back inside. How long had it been? Aaron looked at his watch, ¡°5:34¡±. Was Sarah already here? No, John would have told him. The doorbell rung. Luckily Aaron was able to get there before John did. When he opened the door, Sarah was there looking as if she had just ran straight from school here. ¡°Hi. Sorry i''m late. I had a lot of work to catch up on, from before I came here.¡± Said Sarah with a smile and a tilt of her head full of blond hair. Aaron invited Sarah in and motioned to sit at the table, which she did. John had now entered the room, ¡°And who is this?¡± Asked John with a slight grin. Sarah stood up and approached John with her hand outstretched, ¡°Hi, I¡¯m Sarah. Aaron and I are partners in an English assignment.¡± They shook hands. ¡°Well I¡¯m going to Home Depot. I¡¯ll only be gone for a little while.¡± After John had left the house, Sarah sat back down, ¡°Your father seems nice.¡± Aaron¡¯s head hit the table, ¡°He is so annoying, and he is not my father.¡± Sarah was confused. ¡°Where are they. If it isn¡¯t personal.¡± Aaron looked up at her and said, ¡°Well they are my parents so it is personal, but not too much. They hired John as a babysitter when I was little older than two and he was an eighteen year old looking for simple job,¡± ¡°,well one day my parents went for a drive, John didn¡¯t know where, and they were gone for two hours longer than what they planned with John, so He got curious. John tried to call them but they didn¡¯t answer. John gave up, sent me to bed, and turned on the TV. John says he fell asleep and that when he woke up it was the next morning. John lived alone and didn¡¯t like leaving me there alone, so he wrote a note and took me to his place. They never came back. When I was old enough to go to school, he told the school he was my guardian.¡± Sarah had a sad look on her face, ¡°Wow.¡± Aaron put his head in his hand and leaned that arm on the table, ¡°yeah, plus John makes me do all sorts of ¡®chores¡¯ that I know other kids don¡¯t do.¡± Sarah perked up again, ¡°Like what?¡± ¡°Well he makes me run a mile, do pushups, and other P.E. stuff before school. Then after school he makes me use a Bo-staff.¡± ¡°That is weird. Hey, Aaron?¡± Aaron sat up, ¡°Why are your eyes white and change colors?¡± Aaron rubbed the back of his head, ¡°I knew you¡¯d asked that soon enough. I don¡¯t know why my eyes are white, but they change colors when i''m emotional.¡± ¡°Like what?¡± ¡°Well when I get mad they turn red. And so on.¡± ¡°That means you can¡¯t hide your emotions.¡± ¡°yeah , but they only change when the emotions are strong.¡± ¡°Can you show me?¡± ¡°Sure.¡± and Aaron thought of Ethan. ¡°Wow. That¡¯s amazing. What thought made you mad?¡± ¡°A kid at school.¡± ¡°Hey, you said you use the Bo-staff, can you show me?¡± ¡°Sorry, But I can¡¯t show you the Bo-staff.¡± So they stood up and went to the backyard. Sarah¡¯s eyes went wide, ¡°how did you get it in there?¡± Said Sarah as she tried to pull it out, but couldn¡¯t. ¡°Here let me.¡± Aaron put both hands on the Bo-staff shard and pulled, it came out easily. ¡°How did you put it in the ground that far?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know,¡± lie ¡°I think it was the momentum.¡± Part-lie. They went back inside. ¡°My turn to ask the questions. How did you do that with the dodgeballs?¡± Asked Aaron ¡°I don''t know. I think I¡¯ve always been able to do that.¡± ¡°Ok. Did you really come here to California from Texas.¡± ¡°...How did you know?¡± ¡°Your skin.¡± Seeing the puzzled look on Sarah¡¯s face, Aaron explained. ¡°Your skin isn¡¯t tanned enough for someone who loves horses and lived in Texas.¡± Sarah, still with a puzzled look, said ¡°You should become a Detective.¡± ¡°No. But I want to know why you lied.¡± ¡°...Ok Well I actually lived in Colorado, and I was one of the people at the Mini-war.¡± ¡°What is the Mini-war?¡± Asked Aaron''s as they sat down on the couch, ¡°The Mini-war was exactly how it sounds. A small war. It was a terrorist attack that did not go as planned. The FBI, CIA, and Police learned about it the day, no hour within the attack,¡± Sarah sighed and hung her head ¡°, enough time to assemble a counter force but not enough to get the citizens out. The Terrorists had a force of seventy-four and the FBI, CIA, and Police was only able to get a force of forty-two. Outnumbered by thirty-two, what a joke.¡± ¡°There were two thousand citizens there. It was noon and me and my family were at the mall. The Terrorists blew a hole in the exterior wall to get in. They were in full combat gear with automatic weapons. I was a thirteen year old girl at the time.¡± ¡°They shot down the first hundred people and ordered the rest of us to lie down. The Police were the first to come, but they were ten minutes late. The police came in full riot gear so they had the Riot shields. They immediately went into a shield wall. I knew the first Policeman to be killed, he was my cousin. The CIA were the next to arrive and they had smoke bombs and flash bangs and the best pistols and automatic weapons, but they were quickly killed.¡± ¡°The police expanded the shield wall, and the remaining CIA went to the gaps in the shields with their guns. The Terrorists were in the best positions and had hostages. The Terrorists were maybe losing a man for every three they took of the police and CIA. The FBI came in a side entrance and flanked the Terrorists, but they were quickly overrun.¡± ¡°Twelve of the citizens grabbed guns from the fallen Terrorists, and started shooting at the Terrorists. One of the twelve was my brother.¡± Sarah started to cry ¡°you don''t have to continue if you don''t want to Sarah.¡± Interrupted Aaron ¡°No. I started it, I¡¯ll finish it.¡± ¡°The Terrorists didn¡¯t even hesitate. They turned around and killed all twelve. They lost about seven to the twelve and when they turned around they were shot from behind so overall they lost about sixteen men.¡± ¡°Even though they had lost twenty-three men they still outnumbered. They had better cover so they started to push the police back. The Terrorists knew that they had already won due to the fact that they had shot, and probably killed, twenty-eight of the forty-two of the defenders and only lost twenty-three of their seventy-four.¡± ¡°I thought ¡®we are all going to die¡¯ so¡ I thought why not take some of them with me. I stood up from behind the counter of a fastfood restaurant, and went to one of the fallen Terrorists. I did not go for the gun, no, I went for the knife then went for a second. I was angry¡ no¡ I was pissed that they had killed my brother and cousin.¡± ¡°Blind with rage, I wanted the terrorists to know that they had been killed by a teenage girl. After I had both knifes in my hands I walked over to the nearest Terrorist, who was focused on the police, and stabbed him with both knifes in his back.¡± ¡°He fell without a sound. I then went to the next one and sliced his throat. This time one of the Terrorists noticed and turned to shoot me. He shot at me but I ducked behind a booth. When he went to reload I charged him Shouting at the top of my lungs. Other Terrorists heard me and started shooting me but amazingly none of them hit me. I reached the Terrorist and in one smooth move sliced open his stomach and stabbed another Terrorist in the heart.¡± ¡°One by one the Terrorists noticed me and was either shot by the police or stabbed by me. The Terrorists were losing numbers fast and during the chaos I thought ¡®The Terrorists now know the terror of death, how ironic¡¯ it sounds crazy but that is what I thought. There were nine Terrorists left when they surrendered. Twelve who were injured. Fifty-one out of the seventy-four were killed.¡± ¡°The Police then surged forward to capture the Terrorist but only half took them into custody the other half surrounded me and ordered me to drop the knives, I barely heard them I was barely conscious. I blacked out and the next thing I knew I was in the hospital with four bullet holes in me.¡± ¡°The Police were outside the hospital room and in the room and at my house. They all saw me attack the Terrorists and how I fought. In fact, a Detective asked me, straight out, if I was an assassin. They questioned me for three weeks but they eventually stopped because my lawyer had found a law saying that they had to stop.¡± ¡°The school had never been so quiet before. I walked in two months after the¡ event, but they made a path for me big enough for four full-grown men. The kids who sat by me at school even asked the teacher if they could sit somewhere else,¡± Sarah sighed ¡°I had never been more lonely in my entire life. The whole school thought I was a murderer.¡± Aaron risked a question ¡°I¡¯ve shot automatic weapons and they are pretty inaccurate but not that inaccurate, how did you only get shot four times?¡± ¡°Well, you¡¯re going to think I made this up, but I blocked them with the knives.¡± Chapter 2The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. Sarah almost immediately turned green, Aaron immediately pulled her to the bathroom, knelt her beside the toilet, then went outside to wait in the hall. After a few minutes, and a couple of retches, Sarah came out of the bathroom only to be greeted by a towel and a glass of water. ¡°Thanks.¡± She said as she reached for the glass of water. Sarah took a sip and then swished it around her mouth, and finally spit it out and into the sink. Sarah then took the towel and wiped her mouth. ¡°You really shouldn¡¯t tell that story if it is going to make you sick.¡± Said Aaron ¡°Yeah, but you told me your story so I thought it would be only fair if i told you my story.¡± Replied Sarah as they walked back to the couch. ¡°You know you are the only person that had told me a story that even slightly indicates that they would understand my pain.¡± Said Sarah ¡°Yeah, well I understand what it feels like to kill.¡± That seemed to shock Sarah, ¡°You¡¯ve killed as well?¡± ¡°No, but I guarantee that no one at school has come as close as me to kill someone. You are the only person I know that has killed. I have come close, but you have actually done it. I know you have had dozens of people say this, but I pity you and i''m the only one who actually understand your suffering.¡± ¡°I was seven but I remember it as if it were yesterday. Me and a friend were playing on the playground near our neighborhood. He was on the slide, and just as he was about to go down a bigger kid came up behind him and ripped him from the slide down onto the ground four feet below. I don¡¯t know what happened but before I knew it, I was on top of him on the ground. I was poised to punch him, his arm was at a weird angle and I could tell he had taken several punches and he wasn¡¯t breathing.¡± ¡°John was instantly pulling me off and doing CPR on him. He lived with a severely broken arm, four broken ribs, a broken nose, and fractured skull. After that John had me doing the Bo-staff from then, to this day,¡± Aaron chuckled ¡°And Ethan still hasn¡¯t learned his lesson.¡± ¡°You mean that kid that bullies you?¡± ¡°Yeah, watch him pick up something heavy. You¡¯ll notice that he has problems, and afterwards, he is dizzy and has problems breathing. It was eight years ago, but he is still suffering for pushing my friend off the slide.¡± Aaron looked at the clock, ¡°Woah, you might want to get home.¡± ¡°Yeah, I should. It is amazing that we spent three hours just talking about our pasts.¡± ¡°We should pick a language.¡± ¡°Oh ok, hmmm. We could do Greek.¡± ¡°Ok, so same time tomorrow?¡± ¡°Sure.¡± and with that Sarah left. Aaron closed the door, turned around, and almost had a heart attack. John was standing right there, ¡°Nice girl.¡± He then turned around to sit at the table. When he was seated he motioned for Aaron to sit at the table as well. ¡°You shouldn¡¯t do that to people!.¡± Aaron said ¡°oh but it''s fun,¡± John said with a grin ¡°anyway I told you not to tell anyone where you came from, why you live with me, or what happened to Ethan.¡± Aaron sat down ¡°yeah, but that girl makes me feel normal.¡± ¡°you are normal!¡± Aaron rolled his eyes, ¡°Really so normal kids are able to bend metal like water without even touching it?¡± John hesitated, ¡°ok, so you''re special.¡± ¡°I''m weird. I eat metal to feel better when I''m sick. Do you think that is in anyway humanly possible?¡± John hesitated again, ¡°... touch¨¦.¡± ¡°Hey, you''re supposed to be making me feel better! You just admitted that I wasn''t human!¡± ¡°You are human, you are just special.¡± ¡°I going to bed. Good night.¡± ¡°Man! Teenagers want the truth but when they get it they reject it.¡± Thought John. Aaron was in his room lying on his bed with metal floating around the room, while changing shape. ¡°Why am I so different and why am I able to do the things I do?¡± Aaron thought fell asleep thinking up answers to that thought. Aaron woke up, got ready for school, ate breakfast, went to school, and went to class. Of course he was early, but so was Ethan. ¡°Hey asshole it is time for your punishment.¡± ¡°Ethan I don''t have time for this.¡± ¡°You know it¡¯s cute that you think you have a choice.¡± Ethan threw a punch, but Aaron just took a step to the right. Ethan went past and Aaron kicked Ethan into the wall. ¡°Like I said, I don''t have time.¡± Aaron sat down and waited for the the bell to ring. Ethan stalked out of the room, just as Mr.bulsar walked in. Students started to come into the classroom. After the bell rang again, Mr.bulsar stood up and took attendance. ¡°Ok everyone we are going to nothing today.¡± Mr.bulsar said. Everyone cheered. ¡°But, if you are smart, which there are one or two of you who are, you will work on your language assignment.¡±. And with that Mr.bulsar sat down. Half the class got on their phones, everyone else talked to their friends, there was one or two groups who actually worked on the language assignment. Aaron leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. After a moment, Aaron felt a tap on his shoulder. He opened his eyes just as he got flicked in the forehead. ¡°Ow, really Sarah?¡± Said Aaron as he rubbed his forehead ¡°You were going to sleep through the whole class weren¡¯t you?¡± Aaron sat up, ¡°Well that was the idea.¡± ¡°New plan! We work on the language project.¡± ¡°Fine. We chose Greek right?¡± Asked Aaron ¡°Yep.¡± Replied Sarah Aaron pulled out his phone and searched up Greek. He used the Google Translater and started to write down the vowels and common words. Meanwhile Sarah started to write down ideas for the story part of the assignment. ¡°I was thinking, could you not tell anyone about my story?¡± Asked Sarah ¡°Of course, and I would like you would do the same.¡± ¡°Deal.¡± Aaron looked up from his phone and looked at the clock. It was eight-fivtythree It would be twelve more minutes until the bell rung to go to the next class, but suddenly all lights turned off. Everyone started talking at once, and for about two minutes nobody knew what was going on. Then the TV turn on by itself and it revealed a man in a ski mask and army clothing. ¡°Hello you spoiled brats! My name is Hakim and as of this moment your school is under my control. You are to stay in your classrooms. All teachers are required to come to the cafeteria. I will be sending two of my men to everyone of your classes. If you leave your classrooms you will be shot. Fair warning.¡± And with that the TV turned off again. Mr.Bulsar got up and left the classroom. Aaron got up after about a minute and went and closed and locked the door. ¡°What are you doing? They are going to get mad at us.¡± Said George ¡°They are terrorists they are going to kill us, but i have a plan. So shut up and follow my instructions if you want to live.¡± Replied Aaron, he then went to his backpack and opened it. He pulled out a pocket knife then went to the widow. ¡°Everyone can climb right?¡± ¡°Why?¡± Asked Jonah the genus of the class ¡°Oh, no reason.¡± Aaron used the butt of the knife to break the window. ¡°George you first.¡± ¡°What why?¡± ¡°Because you are able to tackle anyone who is down there. Now go!¡± George started to climb down followed by the rest of the class. George got on the ground when the door got kicked open. Aaron charged at the terrorists, and before they could react Aaron had already stabbed one in the heart, pulled out the terrorist¡¯s pistol, pressed it hard into the chest of the next one, and pulled the trigger. The body of the terrorist muffled the gunshot, but it still softly echoed throughout the hallway. The class that was still in the room had stopped and watched, ¡°What are you doing go!¡± Said Aaron with a shaken voice. Aaron then grabbed the pistols and the AK-47s from the terrorist¡¯s corpses. Aaron walked over to the window, strapped the AK-47s to his back and the pistols to his pants, and started to climb down. When he got down he passed the Pistols to Sarah and another student, he passed the other AK-47 to George. ¡°Everyone go home I gave you the guns to protect you on the way.¡± ¡°What about you?¡± Asked Sarah ¡°I¡¯m going to get the other classes to safety.¡± ¡°I¡¯m coming with you.¡± Said George ¡°Me too!¡± Said Sarah. Aaron looked at them and said ¡°Fine,¡± he turned to Luke ¡°,Luke you have the pistol, you need to get everyone to safety, OK?¡± Luke could only nod. ¡°Good then, go!¡± The rest of the class left, while Aaron, Sarah, and George climbed back into the classroom. They walked over to the door and checked around the corner, it was clear. Luckily the next class was right next to the stairway, while Mr.Bulsar¡¯s class was at the end of the hallway and that was more than thirty feet away from the stairway. Aaron and the others silently walked to the other classroom. Aaron signaled to the others to stay there, while he took out his phone and took a picture of the classroom from the window. Aaron looked at the picture and saw that the terrorists were at the wall opposite the door. Aaron signaled for George to get to the other side of the door. On three Sarah kicked the door open and Aaron and George charged in and shot the terrorists. Everyone started to yell and scream. ¡°Shut up!¡± Yelled George everyone obeyed, ¡°Ok everyone, They now know there have been gunshots, so the first thing they are going to do is do a roll call when four of their men don¡¯t report they are going to send men up here. So everyone willing to fight grab the guns and follow me. Everyone else go to Mr.Bulsar¡¯s room and climb down.¡± five people got up grabbed the guns, but sense there was only four the other person grabbed the two knives they had on them. ¡°Oh! I¡¯m going to go back and get the knives from those other terrorists.¡± said Sarah. She silently ran back, grabbed the knives, and ran back. She nodded to Aaron. ¡°OK, one of us with a weapon needs to stick with the others to protect them as they get to safety.¡±, a kid named Jonah volunteered to go, so we switched out his AK-47 with a pistol. ¡°OK, everyone go!¡± after they had left, Aaron addressed the remaining people, ¡°Guys I know this is going to be messed up, but we need more ammo. So guys go to the corpses and take the vests.¡± so they did. Sarah wanted to keep light so she didn¡¯t want one. After they were done the went to the stairs. They went down to the second floor, but were met with two of the terrorists going up. Without hesitation Sarah jumped down onto one of them plunging one of her knives into his throat and stabbing the other in the leg. He went down screaming and holding his leg but, he only had to endure the pain for a couple seconds because george snapped his neck, killing him. They looted the corpses and continued down into the hallway. There were twelve classrooms on this floor. ¡°There is no way we can get through all the classrooms without every terrorist knowing where we are.¡± Said one of the students ¡°You''re right jack. Come on everyone think.¡± Replied George. They all thought for a couple of seconds until Aaron spoke up, ¡°Everyone stay here.¡± he then went to one of the corpses of the terrorists and grabbed some of the smoke grenades. When he got back everyone looked at him with concern, ¡°Don''t look at me like that. These are smoke grenades. My plan is to set them off all around the second floor and then set off the Fire Alarms. They will think it is a fire and get out of the building. Our job will be to close the doors to the stairs before they get there and shoot them while they are trying to escape.¡± ¡°But won''t the terrorists on the first floor know we are here once they regroup?¡± ¡°They will know, what ever we do. So, why not do it with a bang?¡± Everyone went to different parts of the second floor and set off the grenades. After they got back together they set off the Fire Alarms. Within seconds two terrorists came running from each classroom. They literally ran into the doors but they didn¡¯t even bother to see if the doors were unlocked, which they were. As they were trying to break open the doors Aaron, George, and Jack, come out from behind cover and killed the terrorists. The students were slower to get out, but when they did the smoke was already dissipating. When the students saw the group, some screamed, some cheered, but there was one student that walked out of the group of students and went right up to Aaron. ¡°Aaron what the hell is going on.¡± Yelled Ethan, Aaron didn¡¯t flinch, ¡°We whole school has been taken hostage. We already cleared out the third floor, and now the second floor. The first is going to be hard because they now know we are resisting and they already have more men down there so they can control the teachers.¡± Everyone instantly shut up and looked straight at Aaron. ¡°Everyone who wants to help fight go grab a weapon from the corpses. Everyone else go up to Mr.Bulsar¡¯s room and climb down, you will know what i''m talking about when you get there.¡± Said Aaron. Out of the hundred or so kids only twenty went and grabbed weapons, including Ethan. ¡°Matthew I need you to go, take the extra weapons and get everyone else to safety.¡± there was only seven weapons left because some of the kids willing to fight took two weapons. They passed out the weapons and parted ways, the kids wanting to fight went to the stairs while the kids wanting to escape went up to the third floor. The group went down half of the stairs and stopped, ¡°ok we we too big of a group, so we are going to split into groups of four. There will be nine groups. Groups one through four will go on the left side while groups five through eight will go on the right. They will meet at the middle on the far side of the school, do not go through the middle. Group nine will go to the office and clear it out. Let¡¯s try to get through this without anyone dying.¡± Everyone Split up and went their separate ways. Aaron went to the office with Venix, Andrew, and Seth. They had to be careful because the office had a lot of windows. When they got into view, they crouched and continued on to the office. Aaron took a picture of the office though a window with his phone. Aaron looked at it and saw that there was only one Terrorist in sight. He signaled the others that there was one and they decided to get in without being seen and take him out silently just in case there was more. Venix held the door open a crack and let everyone go in before following. Andrew located where the Terrorist was exactly while Seth went up behind him and slit his throat. They locked the door, hid the body, covered up the windows, and went to the security room. It took them only about two minutes to secure the office. When they got into the security room they found two tasers and some pepper spray. Aaron went to the desk sat down and turned on the computer. When he did a screen of the cameras showed up asking what camera to view, Aaron clicked ¡®Show All¡¯. The screen turned into a grid full of different views of the school. ¡°It¡¯s a miracle that they didn¡¯t see us on the cameras, otherwise we would have been screwed.¡± Said Seth ¡°It¡¯s not a miracle. The Security guy is supposed to turn off his computer every time he leaves it and he hasn¡¯t come to to desk all day, and he hasn¡¯t told them the password so it is safe to assume that they tased him.¡± Said Aaron ¡°Why do you think that they tased him?¡± asked Andrew ¡°Because there is supposed to be three tasers at all times in this room.¡± Said Venix before Aaron could reply ¡°oh¡± Though the cameras they saw that Groups five through eight were already half way clear of the right side of the first floor, but Groups one through four were having problems. One through four had put a group to each classroom, but had sustained four injured, one of them being George. ¡°Keep watching i''m going to help groups one through four.¡± Said Aaron ¡°Will do.¡± Replied Seph taking Aaron¡¯s seat. Almost as an afterthought Aaron said ¡°Oh, and call the cops.¡± they all looked at him like he was an idiot, ¡°Really we thought we were just going to sit here and watch teenagers fight Terrorists without helping.¡± Andrew said sarcastically. Aaron ran to the battle that was being raged in the fourth classroom. One of the kids saw him and ran up to meet him, ¡°All of the Terrorist on this side of the first floor are holed up in that classroom behind desks and tables.¡± ¡°Thanks.¡± Aaron then ran even faster. Aaron threw a smoke grenade into the classroom and turned to another student, ¡°Where in the classroom are the other students?¡± ¡°We don''t know but we are guessing that they are in the far bottom right corner of the room.¡± Aaron nodded his thanks. The room was now filled with smoke. Aaron took off his vest and removed his guns only holding on to this knives. He charged into the room, there was a Terrorist that was holding everyone else back with an AK-47. The Terrorist saw Aaron and pulled up his gun to shoot, but it was already too late. Aaron plunged a knife into the man¡¯s neck instantly killing him. Aaron looked around but didn¡¯t see anyone else, no Terrorists and no students. Aaron walked out and said ¡°This was a distraction. They moved the students leaving only one Terrorist to keep us busy.¡±. Aaron walked over to George who was holding his bleeding arm, ¡°How are you doing?¡± Asked Aaron ¡°Oh you know the usual, just getting shot, trying to free our school from terrorists. What about you?¡± Said George smiling ¡°Why is everyone being sarcastic all of a sudden.¡± Replied Aaron ¡°Must be your sparkling personality.¡± ¡°You got that from a movie.¡± ¡°Of course, but could you help be up?¡± ¡°Sure¡± Aaron lifted George up, carefull of his arm. ¡°Go to the nurse¡¯s office and at least get bandaged up.¡±. George started to walk without out saying a word. Aaron led the others to join up with the other groups. When they met up, Aaron noticed that they had two injuries, both flesh wounds. ¡°Go to the nurse¡¯s office, there are students there to help.¡± Said Aaron to those that were injured. As they were leaving they saw a Terrorist coming around the corner with his gun raised. Before they could respond the Terrorist opened fire. It was instinct that saved a them. Aaron had ran to the front and stopped the bullets. Everyone, including the Terrorist, just stared at Aaron with their mouths wide open in shock. Aaron simply just changed the shape of the metal bullets into a needle. He than sent the needle flying into and out of the Terrorist¡¯s head. Aaron turn back to the group as the Terrorist fell to the floor, dead. ¡°What the hell was that?¡± Yelled Ethan ¡°It was an ability that allows me to control metal.¡± ¡°How long have you had it?¡± Asked a student called Ruben ¡°For as long as i can remember. Now we need to go.¡± no one argued with him. As they were running back to the office, Aaron was taking little bits of metal from each class. When they got back, Aaron had a pole of solid steel. ¡°What happened?¡± Asked Andrew, the other explained to him as best as they could. ¡°So what are we going to do? They moved all the other students to the lunchroom with bombs set around them. If we try to go get them they will be blown up.¡± Said George, he had his arm bandaged up and he was eager to go back out. ¡°Who is a good shot?¡± Asked Aaron, three students raised their hands, ¡°Ok I want you to go back up to the second floor, find a window that is looking over the lunchroom, and wait for my signal.¡± They left. ¡°Who is willing to hold a shield for everyone to hide behind?¡±, five students raised their hands, ¡°Stay here.¡± Said Aaron Aaron went outside and closed his eyes. After a minute metal started to seep out from under the doors of the classrooms. Aaron walked back into the room with a huge ball of metal floating behind him. Aaron set the ball down, and it instantly flattened out. Aaron measured out the metal with a ruler and marked them three feet long, four feet tall. He than took out the chunks of metal and passed them to the people that had raised their hands. He made sure that they could lift them easily. When he saw that they could, he took them back and made handles. Aaron placed one against the wall had shot it. It made a loud ringing sound, but didn¡¯t leave a dent. The shields were one inch thick, four feet tall, and three feet long. They weighed about fifty pounds. They were ready. They marched to the lunchroom with the shields in front and everyone else behind them ready to shoot in between the shields. As they were marching Sarah snuck up behind Aaron and asked, ¡°When this is all over, you are going to tell everything.¡± Aaron looked at her and smiled, ¡°If we survive this.¡± There was only two ways into the Lunchroom, the one that comes from the gym and the one leading to the office. They were coming from the office. They turned the corner and was at the Lunchroom, they stopped while still in the hallway. The shields took up the entire hallway because they left about a ? foot gap in between he shields. The Terrorists had made a fort out of the Lunch tables that went from one side to the other, but Aaron couldn¡¯t see how many Terrorists there were. Aaron used his phone to call one of the sharpshooters. He answered, ¡°Hey Danyel, how many Terrorists are there?¡± Asked Aaron ¡°There are about¡ oh god¡ rough estimate would be about fifty of them¡± Danyel replied ¡°Can you see the teachers?¡± ¡°Yeah, they have them in the top left corner of their fort. All of them are tied up individually and then the terrorists tied all of them in a bundle. There is no way we are getting help from them.¡± ¡°OK, thank you. Both of you aim at somebody and wait thirty seconds from the time I hang up, ok?¡± ¡°Yeah.¡± Aaron hung up. ¡°Everyone get ready we begin when you hear gunshots.¡± everyone nodded. They waited. The gunshots were heard and they saw two of the Terrorists go down. The people between the shields started to shoot as well. The Lunch tables quickly filled up with bullet holes and the shields quickly started to get dents. Aaron used the bullets and bullet shells to reinforce the shields, he fixed the dents and expanded the shields. He connected the shields to the floor and then to the walls. Eventually the shields covered the entire hallway, they had holes for the guns, and when they reloaded the holes closed. ¡°Hey Aaron can¡¯t you use your power to control the metal of their guns?¡± Yelled George over the noise ¡°No, My power can only control metal that is within ten feet of me.¡± ¡°But can¡¯t you just walk out there and control the bullets that are coming at you?¡± ¡°Yeah, except for one thing. Thing about my power as magic. I have mana, and the bigger the action I use to control the metal, the more mana I use. I¡¯m feeling pretty tired right now, so going out there would be suicide!¡± The fighting continued. Aaron felt vibrations in his pocket. He pulled out his phone and there was a text that read ¡°Aaron the police are here, they have set up a blockade, and they are getting ready to come in.¡± Aaron put his phone away and called to Sarah ¡°Sarah, i''m going to the office!¡± She nodded. Aaron ran to the front doors and saw the blockade. Aaron ran outside to meet the police. They saw him running toward them so they raised their guns. Aaron forgot that he was wearing one of the Terrorist¡¯s vests, so he slowed down to a walk and raised his hands. As he got closer, some of the police saw and recognized him. The chief of police came out of the blockade and met up with Aaron. ¡°Aaron what is going on?¡± ¡°We have the last of the Terrorists penned up in lunchroom. They have the teachers. We need reinforcements.¡± Aaron then started to run back to the school, after a few seconds he heard everyone else following him. When they got to the Student blockade, the police saw the metal wall and their jaws dropped. Seeing their expressions Aaron said, ¡°I¡¯ll tell you later.¡±. Sarah came over to Aaron and said ¡°I sent half of five more people to the second floor to continue sniping, and i was going to send people to the other side of the Lunchroom, but they are going to need protection. If you have the energy, could you make another wall over there?¡± Aaron nodded ¡°Give me a minute to rest.¡±. The police had riot shields, so they volunteered to be the protection. ¡°No don''t risk your men. Just give me a minute.¡± Said Aaron ¡°All students go to the police blockade. The police will take it from here.¡± Yelled Chief, but all the students ignored him. ¡°Go!¡± ¡°Chief stop wasting your breath. They are determined to fight for their school. Let them fight, you did your duty and tried to protect them, now leave them be.¡± Said Aaron as he got up, ¡°Police follow me.¡±. Aaron and the police went to the other side. As they were going, Aaron was collecting metal from the classrooms. When they got to the other side, Aaron instantly put up the wall. The police took their positions and started firing on the Terrorist from the back. After Aaron saw that the wall would hold, he ran to the second story. The students that were there were hiding behind the walls, not shooting. ¡°Why aren¡¯t you guys shooting?¡± Asked Aaron, ¡°They saw us and we have no protection.¡± Replied Danyel. Aaron collected the metal from the lockers and used it to create a wall leaving holes at the bottom. Aaron left one window open. He surrounded his fist in metal, and broke the window. Aaron took the metal from his fist and used it, and other metal, made the metal surround his arms entirely. He did the same for his legs. He made a sword that was slightly curved at the end, and after thinking he made a second. Everyone on the second floor had laid down to continue shooting, but stopped to watch. Aaron collected more metal and attached it to his back. He attached both of the swords to his back and using some of the metal from his back, expanded the metal on his arms. The metal on his arms had expanded to give his entire body protection if he hid behind it. Without a second thought, Aaron jumped out of the window. Using the metal from his legs he attached himself to the wall, he then started to run across the wall. Some of the Terrorists saw him and started to shoot at him. Aaron saw the Teachers, he raised his shield to protect himself. He used more metal from his back and launched metal knives out of the shield. Using his power, Aaron pointed one of the knives towards the teachers. The knife cut through the outer rope and impaled itself into the ground right by one of the teachers hands. The teacher saw it, grabbed it, and used it to start cutting his ropes. Meanwhile Aaron is still guarding himself from the Terrorists. Aaron used his power to make the wall, facing the office, into individual shields. He made hand holds and made the shields stand up on a very thin sheet of metal. George understood what Aaron was doing and yelled, ¡°Everyone grab a shield. Everyone else grab a gun and get behind the people with shields!¡±. George grabbed a shield and yanked up, breaking the sheet of metal, and separating the shield from the ground. Seeing everyone start to move forward, Aaron dropped down in front of them and in a very loud voice yelled, ¡°Let¡¯s take back our school!¡± and so they charged. The Teachers freed themselves very slowly, making sure the Terrorists didn¡¯t see them. One of the Terrorists turned around to reload, but saw one of the teachers freeing herself. The Terrorist raised the alarm and four more Terrorist turned around. They raised their guns, but didn¡¯t have the chance to shoot because the students jumped over the lunchroom table wall. Aaron took both of his swords and stabbed two of the four in the chest, while Sarah used her knives to decapitate another and George shot the last. The rest of the Terrorists dropped their weapons and surrendered. Aaron removed the wall the police were behind and they immediately charged forward tackling and handcuffing the surviving Terrorists. The Chief radioed for the ambulances to come in. John was the first to run into the school, he looked around, found Aaron, and ran towards him. John saw the metal on Aaron and slowed to a walk. When John reached Aaron he hugged him for a couple of seconds. Aaron stepped away and said, ¡°Hi John.¡± ¡°Did you use your power?¡± Asked john ¡°Yes¡± ¡°Ok, I guess it is time.¡± ¡°Time for what?¡± ¡°Time for the world to know about us.¡± ¡°What are¡± ,but John interrupted him ¡°You''ll know soon.¡± John then lead Aaron to the Medics. While the medics examined him, Aaron couldn¡¯t help thinking about what john meant. He was so focused on finding the answer that he didn¡¯t notice when the Medics pulled out two bullets from his chest. The Medics tried to put Aaron in the ambulance, but he wouldn¡¯t let them. He stood up and walked over to John, but John wouldn¡¯t talk to him. Before Aaron could try to convince John, Aaron was surrounded by people shoving cameras and microphones in his face. The Police saw the press surround Aaron, but before they could interfere a silver ball formed around Aaron, cutting off all microphones close enough. All the press jumped back. George shoved his way through the press. When he got to the ball, he simply knocked on it. After a couple of seconds the ball coated Aaron again. This time the press didn¡¯t swarm up to Aaron. George led Aaron over to the other students, and said, ¡°Jeez! I¡¯ve always wanted to be on the news, but now that I am, it is so annoying!¡± Aaron smiled and replied with, ¡°Yeah. Hold on.¡± and with that Aaron used the metal from the microphones and cameras to make a statue of the school mascot, a dragon with one foot off the ground breathing fire. ¡°Nice! You know, if you can¡¯t get any other job you could be a professional Artist.¡± Aaron laughed and said, ¡°Somehow, after all this, I think I won¡¯t have a problem with a job.¡±. Everyone seemed to become sad after that. ¡°Now that I think about it, the first people that are going to talk to us are probably going to be the military.¡±, George immediately perked up at this and asked, ¡°Which branch?¡±, Sarah answered this, ¡°What do you think dummy? All of them. The Air Force will want Aaron because he can take planes out of the sky with his brain. The Army will want him to be on the front lines. The Marines will want him because he can easily fight in both water and land. The Navy will want him because he can make boats very fast. And they will want us because we survived this ordeal with no training.¡± Shortly after saying that, a man walked up. ¡°Hello,¡± He said ¡°, my name is Noah Forerunner, and I would ask you all to come with me.¡±, he then turned around and started walking. Everyone just stared at each other, then seeing nothing they could do, they followed. They walked toward a huge tent that could easily sleep forty people. They entered the tent and was told by multiple people to sit down. When they all sat, Noah stood up and addressed them, ¡°Ok, I hate all of the niceties that they usually ask me to say, so I am just going to say it outright. Congrats! You, highschoolers, have just killed eighty-four trained men, and wounded twelve others.¡± He smiled ¡°So before you have become adults you have killed. Not only that but you did it efficiently and strategically.¡± He let the words sink in before continuing, ¡°As you know, the governments of the world are combining into one great government of the world, they know there are going to be those who openly and aggressively oppose the union. They aren¡¯t calling these people terrorists, but instead they are calling them Insurgent. Which is dumb because if you Google the word Insurgent, one of the synonyms for it is terrorist. But that is besides the point. Anyway because they know this is going to happen, they want a group of people that blend in rather easily and can deal with them, quietly.¡± Aaron stood up, ¡°So basically you are asking us to be Assassins for a government that doesn¡¯t give a shit about us.¡± George stood up as well, ¡°Come on Aaron, they do care about us, why do you think they made it a law to go to school?¡± ¡°One, school it cruel and unusual treatment. Two, they only did it so there were educated people out there who could make better technology for them so that they could become stronger.¡± Noah interrupted, ¡°I¡¯ve got to agree with Aaron there, with both points.¡± George ignored him, ¡°Are you really going to ignore the governments of the world?¡± ¡°Yes¡± ¡°Maybe I can help you decide,¡± Everyone looked at Noah, ¡°Yes you will be Assassins, but the Terrorist threat is rising to a point where all of the governments are having problems dealing with them. It is estimated that the Terrorists will take over the North American Continent in just two years, but with the help of Aaron¡¯s abilities we believe that we will be able to push them back to the brink of extinction.¡± ¡°You¡¯re planning to send me to the frontlines of your war.¡± ¡°It is not just our war, it is everyone¡¯s war.¡± ¡°What are they telling you? You do know that the Terrorists are only fighting the Government. The only reason they are rarely attacking civilians, is that a government can¡¯t function without the support of the people. They cause the fear in the people, so that people don¡¯t trust that the government can protect them. Therefore destroying all sense of government.¡±. Noah only stared at Aaron with his mouth slightly open, ¡°You have clearly done your research.¡± Aaron glared, ¡°I had a friend that was in the army frontlines. He wrote me letters saying the injustice of the military¡¯s rule over innocent people. He was later killed by his own men because he stopped them from blowing up a house filled with families.¡± ¡°That must have been a misunderstanding.¡± ¡°Misunderstanding my ass. I¡¯ve talked with the refugees fleeing the war torn countries. I talked with thousands. Everyone of them said the samething, our military was as bad if not worse than the Terrorists.¡± ¡°I can¡¯t deny the fact that our military is corrupted, but they are doing the right thing by fighting the Terrorists.¡± ¡°The Military has a lot of power, but they don''t use it for the right thing. I use my power for the greater good. John always says this to me ¡®The wings I am given, I shall use to protect the innocent. With the fire of the savior within my breast, I shall cleave my way through all who oppose me, for I am the protector, the guardian, the reclaimer. I am the end of all who hold evil in their hearts, and they shall fear the sight of my arrival¡¯. In other words use your power for the good of others. I will only agree to this if I decide what missions I go on, how I handle them, and what I do or don''t do. I will be in total control of what we do. Agreed?¡± They all looked towards Noah and he responded with, ¡°OK, but I have some conditions of my own. One, you will all be subject to monthly medical check ups. Two, if any of you ever get caught, the government will not be able to help. Three, we are not responsible for what happens.¡± ¡°...Hold on.¡± Aaron turned to everyone and said, ¡°All right everyone, if any of you have anything else to add, now would be the time that you speak up.¡± George immediately stood up, ¡°We will be given whatever we need, and if we don''t what to go on a mission then the government can¡¯t interfere with our decision at all. Also can we get this written down?¡±. One of the Government¡¯s people stood up and got out a pen and some paper. The person went over to a table, sat down and waited for us to start talking. ¡°Everyone what should we be called?¡± Sarah suggested, ¡°Everwolf?¡± Aaron grinned and said, ¡°I like it. Anyone else?¡±, before he even finished talking, everyone was voicing their approval. ¡°All right then, we are the Everwolfs.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s start, ¡®The Everwolfs will supply the World Union with our skills, on the terms set by the Everwolfs. Condition one, The Everwolfs will be supplied with everything they need. Condition two, The Everwolfs will be govern themselves, under the command of no one that isn¡¯t another member of Everwolf. Condition Three, The Everwolfs will not be subject to the laws of any country.¡± Noah looked at the paper, widened his eyes and said, ¡°Wow, if they sign that you will basically have more power than the they will.¡± Aaron looked straight at him with a serious look on his face and replied with, ¡°That¡¯s the point.¡± Noah took a picture of the Contract, put his phone away, and grabbed the Contract. ¡°Alright everyone, let me tell you what will happen. If they choose to accept your terms, you will be Assassins. The Governments of Earth will give you missions, you can choose what missions you want to do, but you will be expected to do them. You will have full immunity in all lawful countries, and you will govern your selves. Is there anything i''m missing?¡±, A kid named David spoke up, ¡°They will supply us with everything we need.¡± Noah rolled his eyes, ¡°Yes that too, ok we are done. You can leave if you want.¡± Then Noah and all of the Governments people left. Aaron walked up to the front and asked, ¡°Is there any questions?¡± Again David spoke up, ¡°Will we be given training?¡± ¡°Well we will need that, so I suppose so.¡± Sarah asked, ¡°Will we be allowed to leave temporarily and, or, permanently.¡± ¡°Well give everyone else good reason why and I see no reason why you can¡¯t. This will be our jobs guys, so just like any other job, you will be able to take a break, ask for days off, and will have hours to work.¡± Everyone walked out of the tent. John came walking over to Aaron. Everyone seeing the look on John''s face, wisely, stepped out of the way. ¡°I need to talk to you privately.¡± Said John as he walked into the tent. ¡°Ok guys, we need to talk. Could everyone meet me by the flagpole?¡± Everyone nodded. Aaron walked back into the tent. John was sitting down at one of the chairs, so Aaron walked over and sat next to him. ¡°I told you why you live with me right?¡± ¡°Yeah.¡± ¡°Well I haven¡¯t told you the whole story,¡± John took a deep breath before continuing, ¡°,Your parents did ask me to look after you while they go for a drive. The thing is that they did go for a drive, but they drove to a facility that housed people like you Aaron.¡± Aaron widened his eyes while he asked, ¡°How are there more like me? Can they control metal too? What did my parents have to do with them? Did my parents know what I could do?¡± John held up his hand to stop any more questions, ¡°No, they did not control metal but they each controlled something. No, your parents did not know you had the ability to control metal. Your parents were the lead researchers for giving people the ability. And finally, It is a type of Radiation that they exposed people to, therefore giving them abilities.¡± ¡°Is that how I was born able to control metal?¡± John nodded, ¡°That is what I think. Although your parents never personally handled the Radiation, I think that over time your mother absorbed tiny pieces of it over time. You see, their team gave it to the test subjects over the span of one week, but your mother was still pregnant with you, so you had nine months worth of Radiation.¡± Aaron stood up and asked, ¡°What type of Radiation was it?¡± ¡°Like I said it was a very special type of Radiation. Your parents discovered a way to combine all three types into just one, therefore causing Gamma to supply the energy, Alpha to supply the ability, and Beta to hone in on the material. When you combine it, you are able to control a material with your mind.¡± ¡°Where are the test subjects?¡± ¡°They all died within two months of getting the power. I think it is because of the short time to inject a large amount of Radiation, while instead of two weeks you had nine months to absorb the same amount or even more than they did.¡± ¡°So I lived because My body was still in development and it had a much longer time to adapt to it?¡± John nodded. ¡°If you were just a local babysitter, how do you know all this.¡± ¡°I wasn¡¯t the local babysitter, although my neighbors often left their kids with me while they went somewhere, but I was actually one of the researchers working alongside your parents.¡± ¡°Then why were you at home while my parents went to work.¡± ¡°They didn¡¯t go to continue working. They went to celebrate with the other coworkers, because one of the coworkers was found out to be getting married. I didn¡¯t want to go so I volunteered to babysit you. Now that I think about it the decision not to go probably saved my life, I just wish your parents would have had the same luck.¡± Aaron started to pace, ¡°So, my parents where high tech scientists, that were working on making super humans, but one thing doesn¡¯t make sense. Who killed my parents?¡± ¡°Seeing what happened today, It may be a touchy subject.¡± ¡°Terrorists! Terrorists killed my parents?¡± John nodded again. Aaron stormed out of the Tent and marched straight to where the Terrorist were being loaded into an Armored Vehicle. Aaron used his power and used the metal from the vehicle to grab onto the leg of one of the Terrorists that was stepping into the vehicle. Aaron was at the Terrorist in a moment, ¡°September nineteenth, twenty-thirty eight, you killed two scientists. Why?¡± The Terrorist looked at Aaron with fear in his eyes.
