《Heaven's Demon》 Chapter 1 - The moon, the sky, and the regret Chapter 1 - The moon, the sky, and the regret "NOOOO" He screamed On an executioner platform, someone was being executed before his eyes. That person was his wife. His wife''s soul had no time to escape before being grabbed and crushed. "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! WHY?!" He said hysterically while being held down. The executioner only smiled back at him. After this, two children were brought up to the stage. He looked at them with wide eyes with tears streaming down. They looked back at him, as if afraid of what was to come. They tried to look strong and unafraid, but he could see the tears welling up in their eyes. The man pleaded hysterically "Please, I will give you anything you want, PLEASE don''t hurt my children." "Humans don''t deserve to live!" Someone said in a hidden patch of space. "Why?! What did we ever do to you?!" He said in a sobbing voice. "You''re alive!" The person in the hidden patch of space said in a menacing voice. Asthat someonesaid this, the executioner gripped both children by the necks and squeezed. Father and his two children, had one last glance at each other. They could see the fear an anxiousness in each others eye''s "NOOOO" He screamed. "I WILL KILL YOU, YOU FUCKING DEMONS; I CURSE YOU 1000 TIMES OVER! I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I HAVE MY REVENGE YOU FUCKING DEGENERATES" He said out of anger while crying at the same time. "As strong as you are, you are like this before our leader, you clearly don''t know the difference between the heaven and earth!" One of the demons holding him down said in a menacing voice. As the demon was talking, small greyish blue spheres of light flew out of his children''s dead bodies. He saw that, and he saw that the executioner was proceeding to grab them. His pupils shrank. He knew he had to do something. But what? He was held down and had his cultivation sealed. He saw only one option. He had to detonate his Soul Sea to create an explosion from the excess energy. Even though this would kill him, he had to try. Even If it meant distracting the executioner for even a second, he would do it. Doing this would harm his soul, giving him little to no chance to escape at all after he died, but he didn''t care. The demon in the hidden patch of space saw the look in his eyes and he impulsively said, "RUN, HE''S GOING TO KILL HIMSEL" But before he could finish, a big explosion happened, killing everyone close to it. The executioner didn''t get hurt, but the people holding him down definitely did. Everything went blank. It felt like he was stuck in an endless void for hours on end. Finally, his senses were coming back to him. He was rising out of his body. His soul was injured. He knew he wouldn''t be able to escape. He saw nothing but smoke around. He just hoped that he distracted the executioner enough to allow his children''s souls to make it out. It didn''t seem likely, they were only children, but he couldn''t help but hope in his heart. In soul form in the smoke, he heard the space crackle. In the blink of an eye, he suddenly saw a human-shaped figure in the smoke. He couldn''t see too clearly because of the smoke, but the figure looked lean, red and had very distinctly pointed horns. Due to not being able to see him too clearly, it made it seem all the more mysterious. The figure reached out to grab him, he knew this was it and took one last glance at the person who caused the death of him, his family and his clan. Feeling anger and regret in his heart, he just hoped that maybe his children''s soul''s escaped at the very least if nothing else. Suddenly, he was sucked away by a mysterious power. The hand that was reaching for him grabbed nothing but air. In the blink of an eye, he entered a mysterious white light. ***** ''Where am I? My family¡'' He thought to himself while looking around. "Do not worry." A mysterious lady voice said. "¡.." "¡.." "¡.." A conversation proceeded to happen for who knows how long and then, everything went blank again. ***** ''Where am I? I got sucked into that mysterious white light, and some lady was talking to me, but I can''t remember her face clearly or what she said'' He thought to himself. He was laying down: head to the ground, face to the night sky as he thought this. He immediately stood up and looked around at his surroundings. Looking around, he saw nothing but an open plain with a few trees here and there and a few forests in the far distance around him. He suddenly felt shorter than usual; he immediately examined his body. Looking at his hands, he realized they were a lot smaller. Not only that, his skin was paler than usual. He looked at his clothes and it looked like he was wearing what was left of a ragged shirt that was a bit too big for him and a ragged pair of trousers although they fit a bit better. He plucked a piece of hair out of his scalp, it was silver in color. Realization dawned on him, he was in a different body. He was dazed for a long while. ''Was this for real?'' he thought. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. He had a lot of questions. Whose body was this? Where am I? Who was that lady in the white light? He knew this couldn''t have been reincarnation as he wasn''t a baby and people who reincarnate usually don''t have all their memories immediately. After being dazed for a long while, regardless of how crazy everything seemed, even if he had a lot of questions about what was happening, inside, he was hurting. Looking at the ground he said "My clan and family before my eyes, I''m sorry I couldn''t save you" He said whilst tears streaming down his eyes. "My biggest regret is not being able to save you all" he quietly murmured. He looked up into the night sky and in his mind, he made a vow. ''One day, I will have my revenge, and not just for me, but for my family that suffered because I wasn''t powerful enough, because of my weakness, because of me not being strong enough'' He said in his mind. Although hurting, he knew he wouldn''t be able to get revenge let alone reach the apex if he continued crying. With his right arm, he wiped his tears away. He tried very hard to bottle his thoughts and put it in the back of his mind. Even when he did that, he still felt a sharp pain in his heart. He had no choice, but to trudge it through though. He once again surveyed his surroundings. As he slowly scrutinized his surroundings, he happened to see what looked like a field with crops in the distance. His stomach immediately started growling. Being emotional, he didn''t realize he was starving and how sickly he looked. He started to slowly walk over there. The walk was a bit over three miles. It took him close to two hours to walk that far and his legs were already hurting. He lamented when he thought of how easy it would have been to get over here with his previous body. When he reached the field of crops he immediately surveyed them. Looking at them, there were only a few ripe items here or there. Most of them were rotting or unripe. It seems the harvest this year wasn''t that good he thought inwardly. He thought to himself inside with thick skin, ''Well, I''m sorry but I''m going to have to take some of your crops. I will pay you back many fold in the future.'' He proceeded to munch on all the ripe fruits and vegetables he could get his hands on. Let alone cultivating, he knew he had to find a constant food source: he couldn''t keep living this way. While eating, he saw a red shade of light shine over the field. The sun was rising, he couldn''t get caught now and decided that even if he wasn''t full, it was enough and so he decided to leave henceforth. After getting ready to leave, he gave his surroundings one last glance. He saw some huts scattered here or there in the distance, after some thought, he decided to scout it out. He knew that these were probably humans, but he would rather be safe than sorry. After making his way around a few crop fields, he saw the huts a bit more clearly. It looked like a small rural village. After arriving semi-close to the village, he found a tree and hid behind it. Peaking his little head out around the bottom side of the tree he looked into the distance. Even though there weren''t many humans up and about due to it being the morning, he did see some here or there and this brightened his mood somewhat. After a more careful examination, he saw that the humans that were here also had ragged clothing like him, not only that, everyone he saw looked haggard. He saw the huts and it looked like they were all made of mud and had straw for roofs. He saw a lot of crop fields on the way here, but even then, they all still looked haggard. It seemed all the fields yielded poor results this year. He started to regret eating as much as he did. He started to slowly walk over to the village. He wanted to get the feel of things around here before everyone was up. Walking around, the few people out in the morning looked at him with pity and concern, but none tried talking to him as he looked unapproachable. He just thought it was because people thought he was a homeless child and proceeded on. While he was walking in the village, someone saw him and was surprised with wide-open eyes. After being dazed for a moment, he proceeded to message someone immediately after. After walking a little bit through the village, he saw what seemed like a kind old lady sitting down on a chair outside of a hut: this hut had a slight overhang over the chair as if to protect it from the rain or other natural phenomena. The lady seemed to be enjoying the sunrise and pondering on a certain matter. He wanted to see if he knew what language they spoke or not. He walked up to her and tapped her on the knee to get her attention and just did a few common gestures to try and get a response. "Haxat vidd ug fo peick?" The old lady looked at him with concern, as if she was about to choke when she saw him. As he thought, he didn''t know it. He just wanted to check though. He did his best to produce a "never-mind" gesture to the lady. Turning around to leave, he was about to continue walking when suddenly the old lady stood up out of her chair and hugged him from behind, he could feel tears dropping onto his clothes. But what could he do? Push her off? Hug back? He didn''t even know what she said and it''s not like she was doing anything dangerous to him. He already had a feeling that this village might be related to this body, but now, he was sure of it. He just kind of awkwardly waited till the lady was done hugging him. Afterward, he turned to her, bowed and then walked away. He thought this would be the best course of action considering that this bodies past owner might be related to this lady somehow and judging by her actions, not in a bad way. The lady stopped him a few more times, but he continued trying to leave. After a while, she eventually stopped although with immense concern on her face. Although a bit weirded out, he tried not to think about it too much. He proceeded to move through the village. He glanced back one last time while walking and he saw that there were quite a few people talking to that lady now. Although curious, he didn''t know exactly what to think and just proceeded walking. If you looked, there wouldn''t be much to see. All you could see were a few pathways with huts here or there and farmland. After sightseeing and walking a bit more, he realized he was being followed, it was the same old lady that he met earlier. He contemplated for a few seconds and decided to just leave it be. He could tell that the lady was already concerned for him and that she probably didn''t mean him any harm. He also didn''t want to do anything before finding out how exactly this lady was related to him. Looking around, he noticed that the environment was more lush with greenery in the areas farther away from the farms. ''If there is a lot of greenery here than the lands must be pretty fertile, no? So why are the farms yielding such poor results?'' He thought to himself. He thought about it for a while and came to two conclusions. Either they''re really bad at farming or someone is intentionally ruining the crops. The ladder seemed likelier but he didn''t want to jump to conclusions and continued walking and observing every part of the village. After walking through the pathways and sightseeing for a little bit, near the end of the village, he saw a rundown hut with a few trees in the area around it. This hut''s door was open slightly, but not so open that one couldn''t see the front of it. Unlike the other huts, he saw a big carved heart on the wooden door of this hut. Once he saw this, his heart trembled. A flood of memories came back to him. "Mom? Dad?" He murmured aloud. He instinctively walked over there. Putting his hand on the door and getting a feel for it. More and more memories came back to him. Afterward, he instinctively walked inside. Inside, it was empty, nothing at all. Chapter 2 - The calm before the storm before the eternal despair Chapter 2 - The calm before the storm before the eternal despair Looking around at the emptiness and thinking on the flowing thoughts bombarding his brain. His sadness, regret, and anger that he tried to block away came flowing back, but not for the reason before, similar, but not exactly. If one were to see him now, one would not be able to tell if he''s sorrowful or angry. He looked indignant but at the same time, constant tears were flowing down his eyes. "Fate is cruel, in the same way, that I couldn''t save my family, you also couldn''t save yours." He murmured to himself while standing up in the middle of the hut. Indignance and anger boiling inside him at the unfairness of it all. The memories rekindled his own and brought them to the surface. He felt as if he was drowning and couldn''t grasp for breath. Boiling anger, regret, sadness, hate all at the same time. He broke down on the floor with a myriad of complex emotions hysterically from one to the next. From the immense pain in his head due to his emotions, he didn''t even notice or care that he was squirming around on the floor, his body got cramps in multiple areas, but he didn''t feel a thing in the face of his emotional distress. He felt as if his brain was going to tear apart. He was so loud that other people in the village could hear him at this point. By the time the other villagers could hear him, the sun was up a lot more. Many more people compared to before were up about and moving. Many could hear the noise and the intense emotion within them. Many people including the old granny he met earlier rushed over, the old granny being the first to arrive. What they entered the hut, what they saw horrified them. This little boy was squirming over the floor and even foaming at the mouth, tears, and indignance on his face. They couldn''t tell if he was sick, emotionally distressed, both or so emotionally distressed that it made him sick. Being too fed up with his own emotions he didn''t notice or hear anyone enter the hut. Everything was blurred to him, he couldn''t hear, see, or feel, all of his senses were numb at this point. "What''s happening to him?" One of the villagers anxiously said. "Will he be alright? We have to do something." Another villager broodingly said loudly. More and more villagers proceeded to voice their thoughts while even interrupting others. Soon, chaos followed suit, no one knew exactly what to do or how to approach this situation and everyone was chatting amongst each other. The old granny that he met earlier that same day was one of the people in the front of the crowd. She had an anxious and sympathetic expression on her face and she thought to herself, ''Zemshee, I wish I could take the pain away from you. I wish I could help in some way'' Thinking on that thought, she dropped on her knees next to him while crying and tried to say she loved him and that everything was going to be alright among other things. It was as if he heard nothing though. This grabbed the attention of most of the people in the hut. She saw that his skin towards his head was turning slightly purple. She and others knew this was bad, she called for help in trying to restrain him. While trying, she was pushed over. But after a few more tries and the help of others, they managed to hold him down. After a little while of the commotion happening, the village chief ran into the hut. He had a confused expression on his face. They looked everywhere for him, but he suddenly showed up here? Everyone heard him come in and after a few seconds, people made a pathway for him. He saw the boy and how he was foaming at the mouth and turning purple. He immediately yelled for everyone to give him some space. Afterward, he immediately crouched down and punched him in the stomach. For him, he felt nothing due to his numbing senses, but suddenly, everything went dark. ***** Opening his eyes, everything seemed hazy. He couldn''t see much of anything for a while. After a few minutes, his vision started to become clear. This place seemed familiar to an extent, but he knew he had never been here. Lying on a futon on the floor in the middle of the room, he looked around and saw a decent-sized rectangular-shaped chabudai table not too far away to the right of him. He also saw a painting of a middle-aged lady and a young woman on the wall to the left of him. Also on the left side of the room, a bit farther away from him was another futon except it was empty. Although dimly lit with a few candles here or there, he immediately realized where he was. He was at his aunties house. Well, to be more specific, this bodies previous owner''s aunty. The old lady who was following him all made more sense now. After contemplated for a little while, he gradually understood why he had emotionally lost control. After he saw the carved heart on that door, due to that familiar sight, he gained this bodies past souls'' memories. All the emotions and memories of the bodies past owner flooded into his brain. He realized that this bodies past owner and he share a similar fate, due to this, in addition to the previous bodies emotions, his own emotions came crashing back into him, causing him to lose control of his emotions even as mentally strong as he was. Nearly killing himself in the process. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. He was very surprised by this, usually, people who take over someone''s body, in almost every situation, would not get those persons'' memories. Never seeing something like this, how could he not be surprised? After realizing what happened, he contemplated and sorted out his thoughts for a long while. ***** The previous owner of the body, his parents died unbeknownst to him. He found this out after he came back inside after looking for food. He made a giant commotion and everyone came over at that time. They tried to help as much as they could, but they were gone. There wasn''t enough food. They died over something like food, and not any food, the food they gave to him was the food that could have saved themselves. He knew they looked haggard, but everyone looked haggard, he didn''t know that they were starving themselves for him. In his heart, he couldn¡¯t accept this. He despaired over his own helplessness and uselessness, he regretted not realizing what his parents were doing and that he couldn''t do anything to change it as he was. The village chief and a few other men buried his parents next to each other behind their house. By some will of the heavens, he managed to hold his emotions back while they were being buried, but he wasn''t holding them back, they were boiling up inside him. They were buried in the morning. Everyone had looks of concern, pity and worry on their faces for him throughout the burial. Villagers tried to talk to him every so often, but he didn''t respond and continued to just look at their graves. Hour after hour, more and more people left, he stayed though, standing, unmoving. After many hours, there were only two people left. Him, and the old granny, his aunt. His aunt tried to talk to him on multiple occasions, but he said nothing, it was as if he went mute. She knew he was hurting inside, even if he didn''t show it on the outside. She planned to stay here as long as she needed too, to keep her nephew company and to keep him safe. After the sun was setting and it was nearly dark outside, he shed a tear. His aunt saw this and stood up to try and hug him. He couldn''t take it anymore though, all the anger, helplessness, sadness that he was boiling inside was released. Out of impulsiveness he shoved his aunt and ran and ran. Falling on her backside, she tried to get up as fast as she could and proceeded to yell his name as she was getting up. She started running after him, but she could barely see him at this point. Her yelling alerted the village chief and a few other people, they immediately rushed to where the yelling was. They saw her running and interrupted her to see what was going on. "It¡¯s Zemshee, he pushed me and ran, please help me find him!" She said distressed as if it were her own son. "We''ll immediately go and look for him!" The village chief said in a determined voice as if it was a matter of fact that they would find him. She proceeded to tell them which direction she saw him run into and what happened exactly, by this time a minute or two or three had already gone by before the village chief and a few others tried looking for him. The boy in question did not want to be found. Through his intense emotions, his senses were a bit numb. He ran and ran and ran, changing directions every now and then. Even after running for a long time, he did not feel fatigued at all, and so he kept running. At a point, far, far away. His body suddenly stopped, he fell to the ground, even if he couldn''t feel anything, he wasn''t dumb, it was only then that he realized too late due to his emotions though. He went over his limits and overdrafted his body. By using the last remaining strength in his body, he turned himself over to look at the sky. His last thoughts were, ''Life is cruel'' and he proceeded to shed one last tear. ***** After a long while, he finally had the full picture of what happened exactly. ''In a way, we are one in the same. We shared similar fates and our fates were this. Fate really is cruel sometimes.'' he sighed. He proceeded to lament for a while, while laying down. He thought after a while, ''I can''t keep being emotional like this lest I end up killing myself a second time.'' He once again tried to bottle and seal his thoughts on this matter to the best of his abilities. Once again, it only partially worked. He could still feel a sting in his heart, but not to the point that he would die at least. Sitting up from his bed on the floor, he looked around again; at this point, he realized that many parts of his body were covered in gauze. He also realized that his entire body was sore. It seemed that losing control of his emotions didn¡¯t only drain him mentally, but it also hurt him physically without him realizing it. As he was looking around, he noticed that the door in front of him was open, it was almost dark, the sky still a bit blue though. It was also raining. With the door open, the inside was very humid, leaving a nice refreshing air and atmosphere. You would think he would be cold, but not at all, he was perfectly warm. Looking down again, he realized he was covered in an ordinary-looking blanket, but if one was near it, one could tell that it was emitting heat waves. He thought, ''Where could anybody here have gotten this?'' Knowing it was a magical item, he didn''t think that anyone in this ordinary village would have one, although surprised, he didn''t put too much thought into it right now. After observing his surroundings, he examined his body more closely. His hair had grown a lot, previously short and now it''s a few inches lengthier. He realized something else inwardly and was elated for a while before he put it at the back of his mind after wondering something. He was wondering where exactly his aunty was. He wanted to confirm that she wasn''t hurt and was safe at the very least. Slowly getting up although soar, he eventually made his way to his two feet. Covering his body with the blanket, he slowly started walking towards the door. Hearing footsteps, someone immediately got up from their chair and went to the door and looked inside. That person was his aunty. Two people, young and old, glancing at each other. You could see the sincerity in each other''s eyes that show they are just glad to see each other. He couldn''t help but feel a warm feeling in his heart. Even if he truly didn''t know this lady, due to the memories and the emotions that he gained, he couldn''t help but feel a connection. The lady soon hugged him, very gently as well, obviously knowing his body isn''t in the best shape. The hug was one-sided for a bit, but he eventually gave in and touched her back to hug back to an extent. Chapter 3 - Simplicity and Complexity Chapter 3 - Simplicity and Complexity "Zemshee, I''m so glad you''re alright!" Said the lady with sincere emotion in her voice. Though he couldn''t see her directly as they were hugging, if he could, he would see tears welling up on the sides of her eyes. Not tears of sorrow or sadness, but happiness. While hugging back, he realized he could now understand her, he knew this was a possibility, but wasn''t sure until now, a surprise to say the least. He also realized whether or not he liked it, to an extent, he cared about this lady as if she was family. He couldn''t find it within himself to tell her that he wasn''t the Zemshee she once knew. He always knew memory transfers were a thing, but he never did one to this extent until now. He could feel every emotion within every memory he gained. He could truly understand them and the thought behind them. He also felt strange to an extent too, why was he sent here, to this specific body. Isn''t this a little too coincidental? He thought ''Our fates coincide and our lives intertwined, even our names are the same.'' His thoughts couldn''t help but wander back to the strange lady in the white light. Even though he couldn''t remember what they talked about or how she appeared, he felt a strange connection to her. He couldn''t quite put his hands on why though. The new memories he''s gained, the body he''s in, just what did they talk about? He pondered on just that thought for a little while, then put it in the back of his mind as he had not even a clue to what happened in there besides the first few words. Before he knew it, the hug was over. She glanced at him meaningfully for a few seconds before saying sincerely, "Nephew, please never do something like that again, I was worrying forever!" "Aunty Shelee¡" He couldn''t help but be a bit touched by his aunties'' words. The last part of her sentence then registered in his head a second time. He continued in a concerned tone, "Forever? How long was I out for?" She went silent for a few more seconds before responding, "You really exhausted your body, you''re lucky you didn''t die. You were in a coma for two months or so. You''re lucky the village chief was there, or even we don''t know what would have happened." ''Out for two months?'' He couldn''t help but inwardly frown, trying his best to not have a depressing expression on his face outward, but it showed to an extent. She didn''t comment on his expression, she knew it was a lot to take in and just continued to let him sort his thoughts. ''The village chief?'' Looking back on the memories that he gained, a middle-aged man came to mind. Thinking about it, that did seem to be the most likely scenario. He was guessing that if this magical blanket was anybody''s it would be his, even if he didn''t lend him this, he already had a favorable impression the guy from the fact that he helped him and his memories of him. "So, is this his blanket?" He asked. She knew he probably had a lot of questions, so she prepared herself and tried to put on a strong facial expression. "Yes" She said. "What happened after the village chief did his best to heal me?" He asked again. "He brought you to me, I took care of you." She said once again. "You¡ you¡ you let me eat some of your food? What about you?" "Do not worry about me, I''m not starving." She said in a calming voice. She couldn''t help but inwardly sigh, his parents told no one that they were starving and needed help, she guessed that they didn''t want to intrude and take others food considering food here is so scarce right now. She just wished that they would have asked for help, this way, they could have both tried to figure out a solution. "Are you sure?" He couldn''t help but have his doubts, considering this is what this body''s previous owner''s parents said. She proceeded to take out a bag of food from a box on the table to the right of him, it had a bunch of different food, diverse and not. "Where did you get this?" He asked again doubtfully. "The chief, he went to one of the main cities and pulled some strings. I feel to an extent, he feels somewhat responsible. I, him, everyone, we all didn''t see that your parents were starving themselves."Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. He couldn''t help but be touched again by this in his heart, something like this food was nothing to him in his past life, but right now, it was everything. She continued, "Even if we all look haggard, we''re all a tight-knit group. We all care for each other and that''s how we''ve survived as long as we have. We''re all family. If you ever need anything, don''t feel scared to come to me for help." It was at this point that he could see the sad and sorrowfulness in his aunties'' eyes even if she didn''t show it on her face. He knew that inside, she was also hurting, a lot. He couldn''t help but think of all the things he took for granted in his past life. These people were humans like him, sharing in emotions and intelligence and yet, they could barely make ends meet, this made him mad inside. He tried not to show it on his face though. He didn''t want to see her sad, so he tried to liven the atmosphere by chuckling a little bit before saying, "Through thick and thin, hardships and sorrows, just as you are there for me, I will be there for you. Together, we will all reinforce each other to make it through to the end." She couldn''t help but laugh at the comment considering how cheesy it sounded coming from a 10-year-old boy. Still, surprised inwardly, she couldn''t help but wonder was this always the mischievous brat that she always knew? She stared at him deeply with a loving face for a little while after laughing before saying, "I''m glad that you are so smart, one day, you will make it to big places, don''t let us hold you back, just always remember your origin and remember to visit!" She said in a caring/loving tone. They continued to talk for a long time. After talking for around an hour, she proceeded to say, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the village chief asked to speak with you once you are healed. Perhaps in a day or two, you should go talk to him" "Did he? Any idea on what he wanted to speak about?" He asked. "No, he just said that he wanted to talk to you" The proceeded to talk a little bit more before wrapping the conversation up. He decided to go rest again to let his wounds heal more. ***** One week later after the coma on an early morning¡ "Aunty, bye now, I''m going to go look for food for a bit" "Ok, be safe out there! Also, didn''t you say you were going to visit the village chief days ago?" "I will, at some point." He said as he was already outside the door walking. He knew his aunt still had food from the village chief, but he didn''t want to just eat it all, if it was all gone, then what? Currently, the harvests were bad and he didn''t want to take food from the other villagers who were nearly starving as well. He knew someone probably did something to the crops, but he didn''t know exactly why or who. He neither had the strength or a constant food source to investigate the matter himself. The previous body owner used to look for food, so nobody found this weird at all. But being a new him, and with all his other memories, he had a wealth of knowledge in many fields. Coincidentally, he knew a lot about forests. So the only thing that changed in him looking for food is the fact that he usually is able to find and get a lot more compared to before. Not too far away from the village, there was a relatively small forest, that''s where the previous body owner went to before and that''s where he''ll be going too now. ''Judging by the memories I obtained, this forest should be relatively safe.'' He thought to himself and proceeded toward the forest. He knew that there would probably be spirit beasts here, but he didn''t think that there would be many or that they would attack him. The village was not too far away, and he knew that it wasn''t just himself that has traveled here in the past, and currently, no one has been hurt. Not that he knew of at least, so he didn¡¯t expect much. The village was located on a massive plain. These small forests were scattered randomly among this plain, this being one of them. Even if he didn''t expect danger and thought that he would be relatively safe, he was still on guard. If something unexpected happened, he was just a weak boy so what could he do? He was to be cautious and calculative, the best defense, in this case, was to prevent something from happening. He was going to use his memories to find berries among other food sources while consciously trying to avoid angering any wildlife. He also didn''t plan to go too far into the forest just in case something did happen. If he did have any fear at all, it would be not being able to control his own fate or protect the ones he loves. He wasn''t going to lock himself or the ones he loves up to do that though. He wanted to be free and to do that you need power. In this world, power is everything. The one question he couldn''t help but ask himself since he died was, "What if I was stronger? What if I was one realm higher?" Arriving at the forest, he had his thoughts clear on what exactly he was going to do and how. He didn''t over worry himself with the anxiousness of what could happen. He was perfectly calm and collected. Wondering through the outer edges, he proceeded to look for berries among a few other food sources. He wasn''t fast nor slow. He made sure to be careful around any holes in the ground and trees or nests. After a while, he eventually found some non-poisonous berries. After he found the first set of berries he couldn''t help but admire the simplicity of this all in all. In the past, everything was so complicated, everything he did, everyone he trusted. ''This is so simple and calming, the pleasant atmosphere in the forest and the nice stroll to get here. It''s been a long time since I''ve felt like this.'' He sighed. In a sense, this was nice, but he knew this wouldn''t last long in his heart. Basking in the sunlight that shown through the trees, he stayed and felt the warmth for a few seconds while sorting his thoughts. He continued to search for food for a while afterward. Overall, he found a variety of foods, mainly berries though as they were the easiest to find. Having completed what he went there to do, he couldn''t help but feel relieved inwardly that nothing dangerous happened. Breathing in, he could smell the fresh air. It was simple, it was nice. He proceeded to look in the direction of his village and started walking.
