《Eclipse Online》
Chapter 1
I stood in front of the game store ready and excited to buy a copy of Eclipse Online. It has been six months since the initial release of the game, and the internet was flooded with a ton of different post talking about the different aspect of the game, things that couldn''t be compared to other VRMMORPG. The only downside was that the game needed a new game console, meaning that anyone who wanted the game needs to be a whole new console, but even then, it didn''t deter millions from going out to buy a copy of the game. That what brought me here today, there is a sale that brought the price down just enough for it to be in my price range.
''five minutes'' I thought to myself checking my watch
The store wasn''t open yet, but considering the fact the line went all the way around the store I would be closed until fully prepared as well. Lucky I had brought all the necessary things with me and camped out in front of the store so it only behind a few people.
''three minutes''
I can already feel my heart beat faster as I put all my things down, there was no way I''m going to risk not getting a copy just because I was worried about a cooler and chair.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
''two minutes''
I saw an employee start walking through the door and start taking out his keys.
''one minute''
I heard a beep from the door, and then it came. Everyone started rushing in without any concern for other''s safety, but I was prepared for this too. I pushed the person behind me when I felt man him start getting to close causing me to turn around and pushed him back. This action caused him to trip and tumble backward alongside with a bunch of folks behind him. Usually, this action would have put in a lace where I could get in trouble, but in case I just smiled and ran inside the store.
''this copy is basically in my hands already'' I thought
I went through the store reaching the back of the store where all the VR equipment was located and left to the cash register. Along the way, I saw the man whom I had pushed down earlier glare in my direction, so I did the first thing my instinct told me to, run. I pass by one of the employees and stop to talk to them.
"I need help, that man over there is trying to take my VR system by force because I grabbed it first," I told her
When she turned her head and saw that man running after me, I swore I saw her eyes light on fire.
"You go ahead, ill handle him," She said puffing out her chest and going to the man chasing me
Once she stopped him by tackling to the ground, I threw him a face that spelled utter victory which pissed him off even more. I left walking in a victory stride over to the cash register to pay.
Chapter 2
I walked through my front door and heard my mom come around the corner to greet me probably.
"Hey Sebastian, did you enjoy your time getting that game console?" My mother asked
"Yes mom, I got it" I responded and started going up the stairs "I''ll talk to you later mom."
I entered my room and quickly started setting up the game console alongside before laying down on my bed with the helmet one. I have been waiting for this moment a little over two years since it was first announced, now that I was here, I was starting to get nervous. Taking a deep gulp I air, I clicked the button that initiated the full dive system. A flash of white and I was suddenly surrounded in a big white room. Before I stood a woman with golden hair that went down her back, green eyes, and perfect pale skin without a single blemish to it.
"Welcome Traveler, my name is Ariel, and this is the character creation room. I will be here to assist you in any way you need duri..." Ariel stopped and gave me a weird look as she noticed me walking around her and inspecting her.
"Oh man, they went over the top with the design. I wonder how long they took working on her" I softly spoke to myself
"Traveler, may I suggest that we get star...AHH!" Ariel yelp at me suddenly poking her
"So soft and squishy," I said to myself
"Traveler, please refrain from getting distracted," she said with her face getting red
letting out a sigh, I back away from Ariel and focused on what she was saying.
"As I was previously saying, this is the character creation room. Please first select a name for your character" She saidThis tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
After a few moment thinkings went ahead, I thought of the perfect name "Zero"
"Name accepted. Now we will move on to the next phase" Ariel said, "Please pick a race."
"Human" I instantly said
"Next is the character design."
A replica of what I looked with outside the game. Typically I would have been okay with it and just gone with the short curly black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin look but decided against it. I went ahead and chose to change my hair color to white and give myself gray eyes alongside removing any blemish on my face. I made my hair long enough that it could be tied in a ponytail, but still let a few strands fall in front of my face. Next, I moved one to the body and removed the bit of stomach fat that I had replaced it with six-packs, since this is a game let me dream, I also tone my arms a bit more but did not make myself bulky like other people tend to do. I kept the skin color the same and then went ahead and told Ariel that I was done. I felt something shift inside me and notice my hair was getting longer meaning my body changed to fit what I had made.
"Next stop will be a small tutorial area so you can get used to the game mechanics, but first please view your status screen by saying or thinking the word status" Ariel explain
Following what she said "Status."

I studied my status and taking note of my high agility and dexterity. With a satisfying nod, I closed the window and moved on to the next area.
Chapter 3
A flash of light blinded me before I got sent to a simple desk that had a sword, bow, staff. Ariel appeared next to the counter with a gentle smile.
"In this room, you can do anything you like without having to worry about dying, mana, or physical exhaustion."
"so I get to train?" I asked her
"Yes," Ariel responded.
"Can I spend however much time I want here?"
"Yes?" she responds with a questioning tone
I had read my fair share of litrpg and thought of an idea, but I sure it wouldn''t work, would it? I got down on the ground and started doing a set of 10 pushups before changing my position to plank. I repeated this for ten to fifteen min before I receive the message I wanted to see,
"holy shit, it works" I said to myself
I kept going with my training for two hours straight rotating what I was doing to increase my overall stats.

I couldn''t help but smile while looking at my stats, they were to that for a level five. luck probably wouldn''t be affected by any training that I know of, but I need a way to raise intelligence and wisdom. Letting it go, for now, I went over to the desk with the weapons before grabbing the sword. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Hey, can I get a practice dummy?" I asked Ariel
"Huh? Oh yeah sure, here" Ariel said after been dazed off for so long.
A practice dummy appeared, and I went to stand in front of the dummy. I swung the sword and hit the inanimate object, recoiling from the holding the sword wrong. I readjusted my grip and went forward with my strikes at the dummy for half an hour until something broke my concentration.

I gawked in happiness over the new skill and stats decided to move on to the next weapon the bow and once again got with shooting at the dummy. I missed every shot for the first ten minutes before I finally hit it. I was glad and was able to keep hitting the dummy every three-shot until I was able to get it down to hit it every time, not anywhere deadly, but still hitting.

I repeated the process with the magic staff, but instead of receiving a magic spell magic stat boost, I received nothing.
"Okay Ariel, I think I''m done," I told her
Ariel had long ago fallen asleep and was laying her head down against a desk snoring. I walked over to her and poked her forehead a few times until she reacted.
"No mom, I don''t want food," She said quickly getting up quickly
She looked around before finally remember what she was doing
"oh you''re finally done? good, cause I''m tired of having you here" She said looking annoyed "I will now send you to the starting point"
With another flash, I was teleported to the middle of a city which I happened to read online was the capital, Selene city.
Chapter 4
I was able to finally see after being blinded by the flash of the teleport. I now stood in the center of the largest city in all of Eclipse, Selene City, named after the moon Goddess. It was pretty cliche, but who am I to complain. I looked around taking in the old fashion style the game had with its stone roads, brick houses that made me feel like I was taken back in time. I ponder for a few moments on what I should do before walking down the road to check what was available.
"now in the forums, I read about quest given out from shops, maybe I should start with that," I thought to myself.
I reached the marketplace that was packed with NPC and other players trying to buy items or haggle the price down for weapons and potions. I thought where to start and decided to go with the blacksmith shop that happened to be the nearest thing to me. I walked in and instantly felt a rush of heat hit me, causing me to start sweating already lightly.
"Welcome to my shop, how may I help you" A short man, but with a body built that I can only assume to be of that of a dwarf.
"Hey, I came to see if your selections of weapons?" I responded
Most people would have asked for a quest straight away, but I knew better than to do that. Getting on his good side will probably unlock some hidden quest or something.
"Alright over here young man" The dwarf showed me an arrangement of swords, hammers, daggers, spears, etc.
My eyes almost fell out of my eyes when I saw the price "I just started my life as an adventure, can I see the cheapest item you have?"
"novice I see, yes just over here" He directed my gaze at a barrel full of swords.
I looked over the stockpile of weapons and didn''t find anything good, just taking a glance it showed me these were only beginner weapons that came with your character, to begin with. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
"These are no good," I said scratching the back of my head
the dwarf still watching me gave a nod of the had "well if you can bring in the ores, I can teach you the blacksmith profession."
"Really!" I exclaimed
"yes, yes. "
"My name is Zero" I said before leaving
"Kovon, Now get out of here before I change my mind," He said with a light smile with that, I heard a ding and a blue scream followed

I clicked accept and headed out of the shop with a grin on my face.
"I should log out quickly to grab something to eat since I log in right after getting home," I said to myself
I said logout and felt my body become light as a feather before opening my eyes to reveal the ceiling of my room. I slowly sat up and removed the helmet. I stretched and left my room to head downstairs to the kitchen. Walking into the kitchen my mom and dad where quietly talking and whatever my dad was saying caused my mom to giggle before she looked up to notice me softly.
"hey sweety," My mom said
"Hi mom, dad," I said and got a greeting from my dad "Is there anything to eat?"
"of course baby, it''s over there" My mom pointed at a covered dish on the table
I said my thanks and went to the table to enjoy the meal. I uncover the dish and saw it was a simple meal of white rice with chicken curry. While it was simple, it was still delicious, so I dug in. Ten minutes later, I was ready to return to the world of Eclipse Online, so I hurriedly washed my dish and went back to my room. Walking in through my door, I saw my younger brother, Devin, with a cloth on his hand as he wiped the headgear.
"Devin, what are you doing?" I asked him
He jumped a little and turned around to look at me "Nothing big brother, I was just checking it out."
He handed the headgear back to me before leaving my room.
"weird," I thought to myself.
I placed the headgear on and laid down on the best. Just as I clicked the button to start the full dive. I felt a small spark strike the back of my head.
chapter 5
I appeared in the middle of the spawn area which was the middle of the city. I looked around and saw the streets were much emptier than usual, which I found confusing. With the game and headset being on sale, you would image there being a boom in population.
Not thinking too much of it, walking down the streets and towards the exit of the city. On the way out, I looked at the old style house that reminded me of the medieval era. At least that was until I saw some people sport a bit of magical tech. Why the creator made the settings from the past, yet have futuristic aspect is unbeknownst to me.
While making my way down I pulled up my status screen to check my stats one final time.

I gently scratched my chin and inspected my stats. From just a quick look, it obvious that I would be best fitted for a rouge. But in previous games, I always attempted to go down the path of a magical swordsman. I never been a rouge or assassin, but I didn''t want to try either. Using magic during the training room felt great, making it very tempting for a full-on mage build. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"if i remember correctly, we dont have to follow the standard classes, and can actually create our own. but no one so far as been able to do it" I said to myself
Walking through the city gate, I was greeted with an open grassy field. There were a few other people outside hunting the starting monster, smiles. While in other games this may seem boring because of how simple it is, seeing it from this point of view is exciting. I grabbed my starting sword out of my inventory and went over to an area with no one around.
Passing by me was a group of games talking amongst but loud enough that others could still hear.
"Im excited, the 13 royals are going to be picked" a girl exclaimed excited
"What! that''s today?" another guy said with shock "I can''t wait who get the top, I placed money"
"So did I, The Tyrant is definitely going to be first" Another guy with heavy armor, probably a tank, said
"Are you insane? its definitely going to be the Aurther, he is the immovable wall. he is the best tanker in the game" the first girl spoke up
The group continued on like this until they were out of earshot. The selection of the 13 royals was today. meaning we were going to be told who the top 13 players around the world were going to be and who was going to be allowed to build a city around their guild. They are meant to lead their guild and overtake the other royals until the last one remains, making him King and gets any wish fulfilled, weather it something in-game or out. After that, a new 13 would be selected and the process repeats. I didnt care for it as much, since top gamers now and day were usually asshole pricks that did everything they wanted.
I kept walking forward, passing groups of people fighting slimes, getting their level past the miserable 1. I would start doing the same, but I didnt want to get into the boring grind of leveling up yet. Once I got a different weapon, then I would head out and level up. It took almost ten minutes before I reached an area that had randomly spawned ore on the edge of the cave entrance.
"Well, I have to get started somewhere," I said taking out the pickaxe that I obtained earlier today for this very purpose and started mining.
Chapter 6
Zero steadily picked at the ores on the wall of the cave entrance. Sweat glistening on his forehead from the heat of the sun and the hard work that he has been putting on trying to get the ore out of the stone wall. While he was lucky enough to have found ore so close to the entrance, it was not very big ore vein.
Letting the top of the pick hit the ground, he let out an exhausted sigh. "God, I been at it for the last three hours, and I barely managed to get five iron ore."
He looked further into the cave and contemplated the option of plunging further in to find more abundant ore. He could wait here and try to get the iron from here, but it was going to take far too long. While Zero didn''t mind doing this, he did want to go a try the combat system soon. Letting his impatience win, Zero set out further into the cave, making sure to be vigilant of his surroundings in case there was a monster hidden.
Ten minutes into the cave, he found what he searched for and without the hassle of a single monster and started picking the large iron vein. It wasn''t long after he began picking that he heard something moving in the distance. Zero''s ears immediately perked up, putting his body in full alert for any sound that may happen again. Once again, he heard the sound of something footsteps across the floor. Zero grabbed his sword from his inventory, while he knew it crap, it was still better than fighting unarmed.
A few moments later, from the way he came from, Zero saw the waist-high blue creature walk towards him. He held a club in hand and only had a loincloth to cover himself. The monster started to make a screeching noise as he got closer and immediately, zero inspected the monster. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
"Fuck!" Zero let out curse to him as he saw the level of the Kobold. He wanted to forget the ores and run away, Zero was not able to since the Kobold before him block his way out.
Zero took a deep breath in, "Alright, I can do this. In every game I played in, I have always fought monster high level, this is no different" With that in mind, Zero ran towards the Kobold, sword at the ready to slash at the small monster.
If this were one of those novels where the main character somehow manages to overpower the stronger monster, then Zero plan would have worked. But in reality, what unfolded was much more different then what he expected. The kobold sidestepped to the right and slamming the club into his chest, sending Zero tumbling back, gasping for air.
The blue box appeared in front of Zero as air struggle to enter his lungs. If it weren''t for the increase stats that Zero had received during the training room, he would have died otherwise. He grabbed his chest when air finally rushed into his body, relieving him of the tightness in the Zero felt in it.
With one-fourth of his health taken in one hit, Zero did the only thing that came to his mind, run and fight another time. He turned around and ran the opposite direction of the Kobold, not realizing that he was running further into the cave system.
