《The Summoning Island》


 Prologue

    A God of Creation lets out an explosive sounding sigh and mutter a few words. "I''m bored."


    Oh, the word that many entities feared, significant or insignificant, across the universe, across the eternity.


    Currently, He is lounging on his magnificent golden colored throne, in one of his several majestic palace.


    He is, like He said, is bored out of his mind. He maybe a God''s Creator, but even with his many powerful gift and terrible powers, he is still an entity which can be hampered by a lack of entertaintment.


    I mean, sure, there is other God''s Creator... creation, sometime it''s awe inspiring, sometime it''s bland, sometime it''s just plain stupid, which is worth a few chuckle, at least.


    But, there is just nothing that has succeded to draw His interest, lately. So, with his infinite wisdom, He decided to asked one of his angels for it''s suggestion.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.


    "My beautiful angel, is there anything, and I mean, anything interesting happening, lately?"


    "Well," the angel said, do not wanted to disappoint her Creator. "Nehm, one of the Gods of War is waging a new war, i heard."


    The angel''s shaped like a beautiful woman, with silver hair, a pair of great white wings, and a well endowed figure. She wears a golden and red armor with many beautiful enhancement on it.


    "Nah, seen it before." The God''s Creator said.


    "What about that new soap opera-" the angel began to say.


    "Boring." Cut the God''s Creator.


    "A new world by-".


    "No, either."


    "An apotheosis-"


    "Still no"


    "A monster apocalypse-"


    "Mhm, no."


    Getting desperate, the angel tried to think of something newsworthy to tell her Creator. "A summoned [Hero]-"


    A sudden though struck Him.


    "You knows what, I just had this brilliant little idea, it''s got conflict, drama, monster, summoned mortals, and of course, greatness."


    Feeling satisfied with Himself, He asked His angel. "What do you think, huh?."


    "I think," the angel said. "It''s a great idea, my Lord."


    And thus, The Summoning Island is being created.


    As for whether or not it''s a great idea, who knows?.

 Chapter 1

    One moment, he just walked down the street, and the next moment, Daniel Dew stood in a clearing of some sort of forest. "What?", he said.


    The clearing is half a dozen across and it located amidst tall trees with bluish-purple flowers between them. The flowers is also in the clearing and there is a few of them near his leg. The trees have brown trunks and dense green treetops. The branch is long and gnarled.


    "Am i hallucinating?", he wondered. But, this feel real, Daniel thinks. He pinched his arm and he can felt that and then he bend down to touch the grass beneath his feet and he can felt that too.


    The air felt different too. It''s like the air in a place where there''s not many pollution. And there''s all sort of wildlife''s noise, bug buzzing, leaf rustling, and bird singing.


    Daniel stood straighter and took a deep breath and a moment to take his bearing. He wore a brown pants, a white shirt, a leather belt, a black hoodie and a white and black shoe. He have messy black hair, black eyes, straight nose, and a somewhat handsome face.


    "Hello?", Daniel cupped his mouth and said with a loud voice. "Is there anyone out there?". Nobody answered him except the usual wildlife''s noise.


    He become a bit panicked because he never alone in a forest before and this doesn''t feel like a prank. So, he took a deep breath again. And then, a few more.


    Maybe there is a civilization nearby, Daniel thinks. So, he pick a random direction and start walking.


    Meanwhile, a Slime has just been appeared out of nowhere. It, for lack of a better word, blinking.  It''s doesn''t have eyes. Or any other organ, for that matter. It''s an amorphous, shapeless, gooey creature, that made of of green... thingy, and a core. But, it did have some kind of sensory system supplied by it''s core and a bit of magic. Which it used for seeing, hearing, and... blinking.


    If it''s have an ability to think, maybe it''ill be wondering why it''s surrounding suddenly different. But, it didn''t, it''s simply relied on it''s instinct, which had been honed through peril all throughout it''s life.


    The Slime is in the process of hunting for food when it was suddenly transfered over, and if it have the ability to, it gonna be slightly annoyed. But, it didn''t, so it''s simply resolved to try again in this new place. Maybe it''ill have more luck this time.This book was originally published on Royal Road.     So, it''s listening to it''s instinct and hearing to pick up a possible source of food, again. And it did pick up a sound. Without further ado, it''s started oozed  toward the sound.


    As it happen, the sound that the Slime heard is the sound that Daniel made as he slowly walked through the forest.


    Where am i?. He thought. He took the sight as he walk, the flowers, the trees, it''s quite beuatiful, except for the green sludge- wait, what?


    Indeed, when he take a second look, there is indeed a green sludge slowly oozed it''s way to him. It came from ahead of him and slightly to the right.


    What is that?  Daniel wondered. Some kind of animal?. It reminded him of a slime, actually. He got a bit curios, so he decided to poke it with a stick. He looked around and find a fallen branch, he took it and shove it inside the green slime. The part that went in immediatly started to sizzling and melt while have no noticable effect on the slime. And it just keep moving toward him. Good thing i''m not using my finger  he thought.


    At first, he decided to just ignore it and continue on his quest to find civilization, but when he look behind him, he noticed that the slime following him. He stop, turn around, and took a few step to the left, and the slime changed direction to face toward him. He took a few step to the right, and the slime changed direction again to face toward him.


    If he is uncertain before, now he definitly certain that the slime is following him.


    The slime is slow, so Daniel can easily outpaced it. But he didn''t really want to have to worry about it following him and melted his face off when he wasn''t looking either.


    So, with the branch that he still hold in his hand,  he started beating the slime while still maintain a healthy distance from it himself.


    Like before, it didn''t have any noticable effect on it. That is, except for a bit of it''s body flying off and didn''t came back.


    Noticed it, Daniel started to swing the branch from left to right, and vice versa, instead. He see bit by bit of it''s body flying and it''s started getting smaller. A bit of it flying toward him and it make his skin sizzled.


    Despite this, it still keep moving toward him, and Daniel keep swinging. When he exposed it''s core, it''s suddenly rear back and it''s looked like it''s hurt and screaming. Except there is no sound.


    Enraged, it lunged toward Daniel and took him by surprise. It succesfully engulfed his right hand, which started to sizzling and hurt.


    "Fuck!" Daniel swear. He immediatly took a few step back and looked at his right hand which have an angry red rash on it.


    Enraged himself, Daniel started to beating and swinging his branch where he saw the core last time with raged fervor.


    The Slime, suddenly feared for it''s life started to flee.


    "Oh no, you don''t." Daniel said. He keep beating the slime ''till it''s stopped moving.


    When it did, Daniel sagged with relief.


    And then, the adrenaline leaved his body, which started to realized that it hurt and exhausted from the activity.


    Daniel sit down to rest and released his hold on the tree branch which have hole and melted part on it. The tip of the branch just outright disappear.


    While he rested his body, two things happened simultaneously.


    A flash of light.


    And a message appeared in his vision.


    [Congratulations! You have got a new Class!]


    [Warrior! Level 1!]


    [Accept: Yes/No?]

 Chapter 2

    The flash of light surprised Daniel and make him close his eyes for a second. That flash of light accompanied by a sound like a bell goes off in his head.


    When he opened it, there is a simple message in his vision.


    [Congratulations! You have got a new Class!]


    [Warrior! Level 1!]


    [Accept: Yes/No?]


    The message appeared in his focus, and it stayed that way wherever he is looking. But strangely, it didn''t obscure his vision, at all.


    It was like looking at his surrounding and the message, both at the same time.


    He tried to closed his eyes, but he still can see it. As clear as if he is reading in broad daylight.


    "What?" He said. He lost count of how many times he said that since he got here. But, the hallucination- if it is even that, he started to have doubt about that theory-, is getting weirder.


    "What is this?" He said. "Some kind of game?"


    He had tried a few game himself with his friend, and it usually have something like class and level.


    The bell and the message repeated itself.


    [Congratulations! You have got a new Class!]


    [Warrior! Level 1!]


    [Accept: Yes/No?]


    "Um, yes?" He said with some hesitation.


    [Warrior! Level 1!]


    He didn''t felt different. He flexed his arm, make a fist, and punching the air. Nothing felt like it''s not supposed to. No new energy coursed through his body, no sudden new mass of muscle. Nothing. Just the normal, regular Daniel Dew.

    "Status." He said. Nothing happened.


    "System." Nothing happened.


    "Stats." Still nothing.


    He resolved to try another time. "Profile." Fat lot of nothing. Now, he felt silly to have said that outloud.


    Maybe just a hallucination he though. To put that out of his mind, he decided to focus on the other matter. Namely, the flash of light.


    Whilst he focused on the message, he haven''t noticed that there is a chest that appeared near the corpse of the slime. And now, he noticed it.


    It sat there, innocently, without a speck of the slime marred it smooth surface. It''s colored a rich brown and gold without a lock on it. It''s small frame can be lifted with one hand.


    Another hallucinaton? He though. He decided to take it and have a look.


    He used one hand to hold it and the other to opened it. Inside, he saw a small container filled with green sludge the same color as the slime and probably made of of the same stuff, too.


    When he take it, the chest burst into wispy white smoke that flown into the sky. It began from the top of the chest and quickly make it''s way to the bottom. And just like that, the chest disappear.


    Daniel decided to just ignore that and categorized it as another ''weird things in this place''. He focused on the small container, it''s glass looks fragile, so he make sure to handle it carefully.


    To test the content, he pull the cork on top of it, and very carefully spilled a bit of it''s content on a small heap of dead leaves. It begin to sizzle immediatly and melted in just a few second, leaving only a puddle of green liquid.


    Yeah, definitly the same stuff Daniel though.


    After that, he put the cork in it''s place again, securely, and stuff it in his hoodie''s pocket. He just hope that he doesn''t accidentally break it or someting. That is not gonna be pretty.


    And then, he continued on on his quest to find civilization. He walked further in the same direction as before. There is no road or anything, he just walked in the gaps between the trees.


    Not long after that, the trees became sparser and sparser until he came into a big expanse of flat lands. There is a few hills here and there. And in the distance there is five mountains jutting out of the land like the fingers of some kind of Titan. And cutting the expanse in half like a slithering giant snake is a river. It runs across from the elevated land from the north side and snaked it''s way through a short waterfall all the way to the south where Daniel can''t see where it''s destination.


    The expanse filled with green grass, trees, and flowers. It''s simply breathtaking. Daniel stopped for a few moments to enjoyed the scenery.


    The peaceful moment destroyed by a sound that is caused by a careless step of a big wolf. The wolf have a grey fur and it was alone. It''s got summoned without it''s pack. The sudden separation from it''s pack and the confusion of the unfamiliar sorrunding makes it aggresive. And then it''s noticed Daniel presence.


    "Oh, not again." Said Daniel. He is kind of afraid, i mean it was a wolf. A predator. Even if it was alone, a wolf is still a wolf. And it''s looks really angry for some reason.


    Daniel looks to his surrounding to find a weapon to use against the wolf. He took ahold of a new fallend branch. The old one got destroyed by the slime and he leaved it behind.


    The wolf make a low and dangerous sounding growl, and started circling him. With a sudden roar, it''s pounced on him.

 Chapter 3

    The wolf is fast. In just a few second, it''s almost reach Daniel position. And then, it''s jumped at him. It''s claw poised to strike at him. Startled, he doved to the side. The wolf, carried by it''s own momentum, flew fast him.


    The second it''s feet touched the ground, it''s immediatly righted itself to faced him. The wolf growled, and running toward him once more.


    Hurriedly, Daniel scrambled to get up. He tried to run away, but he didn''t get far before the wolf is upon him. The wolf tackled Daniel from behind. They both thrown away from the impact.


    The wolf get his bearing first, and in second tried to mauls Daniel with it''s teeth.


    Luckily, he''s able to take ahold of his branch in time, it''s flew from his grasp when the wolf tackled him.


    He hold it up, so instead of his flesh, the wolf''s mouth found the branch between it''s teeth instead.


    Their faces is so near one another, Daniel can feel it''s hot breath on his face.


    Before the wolf can get the bright idea to skewer him with it''s claw, Danield push  his branch up, and with it, the wolf flung away from him.


    Hurriedly, Daniel gets up and swung his branch with two handed grip. He swung it so hard, it''s whooshed  in the air.


    The branch and the wolf''s head connects with a loud thwack.


    The wolf flung away for the second time, and when it''s gets up, it''s make a pitiful whining noise and shaking it''s head as if dazzed.


    Before the wolf could take it''s bearing, Daniel is upon it.


    He swinging his branch again and again. A few of it hit the wolf with a meaty thwack and the rest is avoided by the wolf.


    In retaliation, the wolf lashed out with it''s claws at him. The claw hit his arm and shredded both the sleeve of his hodie and the skin of his arm. His arm immediatly leaked out blood and it''s stained the sleeve of his hoodie.


    "Fuck!" Daniel swear. His arm feels tender. Those claws are sharp. He immediatly take a few step back to get away from the wolf and to assess the situation.


    The wolf itself used this time away from each other to take it''s bearing.


    Suddenly, a thought hit him. He remembered the container with it''s green content that he got from the slime monster that he defeated earlier. He immediatly draw it from it''s place safely tucked away in his hoodie''s pocket. Luckily, it''s didn''t broken.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.


    Right on time too, because the wolf is once again pounced on him. But, this time, when the wolf flew past him, Daniel threw the container at the wolf.


    It hit the wolf right on it''s left flank. The glass shattered on contact. Immediatly, it''s flank started sizzling and then melted. It''s howled in agony and shaking it''s body to tried to get it off it''s skin.


    But, it just keep sticking and the part where it hit just gone and started to leaking out blood. It''s lost so many blood, and not long after that, it''s just end up drop dead. Whining piteously all the while.


    Watching all of this, Daniel just stood there, lost for words. That stuff is more dangerous that the Green Slime  he though.


    Suddenly remembered his injury where the wolf has managed to hit him. It still leaking out blood and hurt like hell. He tear apart his shredded sleeve to make a makeshift tourniquet.


    He is still in outskirt of the forest, because the fight didn''t drag him too far. So, he sit down under a trees to rest his exhausted body. The fight take a lot out of him. He''s never went to the gym, and developed his body. So, even though the fight doesn''t take long, it''s still managed to tired him out.


    Suddenly, a sound like a bell chimed went off in his head. The sound accompanied by a flash of light. The flash of light is not harmful, it''s just surprised him. When he opened his eyes a message appeared in his vision.


    [Level Up!]


    [Warrior Level 2!]


    [Skill: Sure-Grip!]


    When Daniel finished reading the message, it''s simply disappear.


    The message again  he though. Is it even real?. And what kind of Skill is Sure-Grip?.


    When he finished with the message, he send a searching looks around the wolf''s corpse.


    And sure enough, he found a chest on it''s right. The chest looks similar with the chest from the Green Slime, if somewhat longer and bigger.


    Danie gets up to take it, inside he saw a double-edged short sword, with ivory hilt, an ivory wolf''s head-shaped pommel, a black straight crossguard, and a black and silver sheath.


    As before, when he take the short sword, the chest burst into wispy white smoke and disappear.


    Daniel pull the sword from it''s sheath, the blade is the color of polished steel and it''s gleamed in the sunlight. It''s look really sharp.


    While he admiring the sword, he noticed that his grip felts more firmer, more right, somehow.


    Huh, it must be the effect of that Skill  Daniel though.


    He doesn''t have anywhere to put it, so he just hold it with his hand.


    It''s already past noon when he suddenly got here, and he walked for hours. When he looks up, the sun is started to dipped down behind the horizon.


    He don''t really wanted to walking in the dark. Not to waste time, Daniel prepared to makes camp for the night and he started to collecting dry wood and dead grass for making fire and dump it under a tree some way away from the wolf''s body, in case of a scavenger, where he decide to take shelter for the night.


    He put the dry wood -stick really- between his palms and spin it to create friction. And he do it for a really long time, ''till his hands is sore, but he didn''t succed to make a fire.


    So, he just give up and lay down on the hard ground. That night, he cried to sleep, because the event today felt real  and that mean he stranded here, in the middle of nowehere, alone, without help. He is exhausted and his body felt sore all over. His arm is wounded from the fight with the Green Slime and the wolf.


    So, that night, he sleep under the night sky, under the stars. At least, there is no mosquitos. Small mercy.

 Chapter 4

    In the middle of the night, Daniel wake up to sudden urge to relieved himself.


    With a groan of great reluctance, he stand up, take ahold of his new sword, and walks away from his camp to go do his business.


    When he finished with the process of relieving himself, if before he''s still sleepy, the sight that greet him when he gets back to his camp sure is waking him up very quickly.


    Because, there, near the wolf''s body, is a scavenger. It''s body looks like a big rat, a very big rat, that is if this hypothetical rat have a completly grey furs, tusk coming out of it''s mouth, black sharp claws, and fleshy pink tail. Oh, and flaming red eyes that shining menacingly in the dark.


    It''s in the process of gouging out the wolf''s body messily with it''s sharp claws and teeths when it''s suddenly noticed Daniel''s presence.


    The fight is short, the rat attacked, Daniel defended himself with his sword, got a few new scratch to show for it, and a new corpse.


    He didn''t get a message or a chest this time.


    He needed aproximately two hour to get back to sleep after that and wakes up when the sun had long since began it''s morning routine. The sunlight wakes him up.


    Today, he decided to walks further ahead towards the mountain, he decided to do it because he wanted to tried to climb it and used the new vantage point to looks for a sign of civilization.


    As for the river, he planned to followed it down to search for a narrower section or a bend where the waters is shallower so he can crossed it safely without the need to swim. Because he don''t know how to swim, and who knows what kind of freakish fish this place can generated.


    Before that, though, he tried again to makes a fire going with his tools from yesterday. This time, he did succed to makes a small ember after he spent a long time to spin the wood''s stick, and then he gathered a few dead grass near it and blew with his mouth carefully to makes the fire bigger.This novel''s true home is a different platform.     After he added a sufficient number of dry woods to keep it going, he goes to the wolf''s body and carved up a section of it''s meat where the scavenger hadn''t touched and hasn''t gone bad yet. He then separates the meat and the furs, both with his sword.


    He skewer the meat with a branch and then hold it up the fire to cooked it. It''s didn''t taste particularly good, but food is food and he haven''t ate since yesterday.


    After he finished eating, he put out the fire and then started walking, sword in hand.


    Daniel isn''t in a hurry, so he took his time and walking leisurely. The plain studded with many hills, it''s covered by green grass and many kind of flowers as far as the river.


    When he finally reached the river, Daniel noticed that the river is big and the water flow rather quickly. It''s have a clear waters, which he used to wash his face. The waters felts cool on his face. But, he didn''t tried to drink it, though, in case it is unhygienic


    When he walking down the river, just minding his own business, a sprout of water suddenly hit him in the face. It''s didn''t particularly strong, but it did succed to makes him stumble.


    The source is a mass of waters that somehow gathered and taking a shape of the same design as the Green Slime that he beat yesterday. It''s, too, have a magic core in the middle of it''s body.


    He didn''t noticed it before because it''s almost the same color as the river which it''s float upon of.


    Currently, it''s in process of dragging it''s own body to the edge of the river. When it''s finally reached it, Daniel is already there, sword in hand.


    His though process went like this, if he have beaten one already, how hard can it be to beat another one?


    He used the same strategy that he used againts the Green Slime. He swung the flat of his sword at the creature, that he just dubbed the Water Slime.


    He can feels the resistance on his sword when he swing it, though.


    Must be the property of it''s body,  Daniel though. It is made of of waters, after all.


    The Water Slime retaliate with a few of it''s sprout of waters, this close it hits harder and definitely gonna leaved bruises.


    When it''s used it''s sprout of waters, though, Daniel noticed that it''s body is getting smaller, diminished.


    Daniel just keeps going ''till he hit the magical core and the Water Slime burst into normal waters


    He is right, it''s didn''t hard at all. He just got a few bruises to add to his collection of injury. And wets. Because of the waters.


    He didn''t get a level up message this time, either. But, he did got a new chest. Which he dubbed the Loot''s Chest. Inside he saw a grey bottle of waters. With a hook on it''s spine. It''s fully loaded with clear waters. To test it, he opened the bottle,  and spill a bit of it''s content to the ground.


    Nothing happened. It''s probably safe to drink, but he decided to saved it for when he feels truly desperate, just in case.


    After he tied the hook to his belt''s loop, he walked on.

 Chapter 5

    Adam Scoutman is started to getting fed up with this sands. It''s got in so many places, his shoes, his shirt, and even his pants. It''s scrapped againts his skin and make it itch. It''s also irritated his eyes.


    There is also the matter of the sun, which he feels as if it''s directly a few meters up his head, cooking him alive.


    He is just relaxing in front of his tv, and then suddenly, he is in this goddamned desert.


    He is bumbling in the sands for a few minutes, trying to makes sense of all of this.


    When he couldn''t bear the sun on his back anymore, he started walking in search of a source of water, an oasis or something.


    And then, as if all of this couldn''t get any weirder, he started to encountered strange creatures.


    For example, right now, he is staring at a brown lizard, with a singular bulbous green eye and a slitted red pupil, that also have ridge all over it''s body.


    It''s the span of his thigh without it''s tail and have a three-toed paw with a very sharp-looking black claws.


    That also staring right back at him.


    It''s perched atop a slight dune in the sand, and when Adam stopped to stare at it, it''s suddenly moved surprisingly fast in it''s lizard''s gait.


    When it''s got close, it bit him in the leg, startled, Adam kick his leg to throw it''s loose.This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

    Adam, who finally simply have had enough, stalked towards the lizard and stomped on it untill it died. And then, a few more for good measure.


    A flash of light and a message.

    And that, is how Adam Scoutman, entered his new journey on this magical island with a [Barbarian] Class.


    Inside the chest, he found a pair of leather fingerless gloves with studded iron on it''s knuckles.


    It''s strange, but he got a bigger problem, like how to get out of this fucking desert. So, he just shelved it for later though, wears the gloves, and resume his walking with a bit of a limp where the lizard got his leg.


    He walks for hours across the desert with the sun shining on his back. Untill the sun goes down, and the air became chilly in the night.


    He sleep under a dune to protect him from the wind that night, with nothing but the cloth on his back to separated him and the sands.


    Came morning, he continued on to search for waters, he is feeling the effect of dehydration already.


    He is exhausted, stumble a few times, rolling down a dune, when he stopped rolling, he just lay there, resting for a bit.


    When he feels rested enough, he gets up and saw, in the distance, a river.


    He started running towards it with the last of his energy, like a man dying of thirst.


    Once he gets there, he kneel, cupping both of his palms, and immediatly shoving the waters to his mouth.


    He choughed a few times because of how fast he does it, but he didn''t cares.


    When he busy doing that though, a sound reached his ears.


    "Hello?" Said a voice.


    There, across the river, in the gloriously green filled landscape, stood a person.


    He is a black haired, white skinned, and of average heights of a teenager. In his hand, he hold a black and white short sword. His cloths, Adam noticed, have a few holes in it, and he looks like he had gone through a few fights.


    A person?Adam though. Does he know how i got here? And why?


    Before he could asks his question, though, the person across the river beat him to it.


    "Hello?" He repeated. "Can you understand me?"

 Chapter 6

    Daniel just walks and walks ''till he reached a bend in the river. Originally, it''s led toward the south, but it''s got separated into two channels, one keeps going south and another one going east.


    Across the river in the south east is a desert, in which another person is currently running towards him in haste.


    Or, upon a closer inspection, running towards the river.


    He is a dark skinned man, with brown hair.


    In all his hurry, he failed to noticed Daniel''s presence across the river.


    So, hesitantly, he called out. "Hello?"


    When the person looks up, Daniel noticed that he have a rough face, more like a thugh, really.


    Usually, Daniel leery to deals with this kind of person, but he is the first person that he meet on this place. And he got several unanswered question on his mind. So, he tried to steeling himself and asked politely.


    "Hello?" Daniel said. "Can you understand me?"


    "Yes, sure, what of it?" He replied curtly.


    "Are you a native?" Daniel said.


    "No, why?"

    Awkward.


    The person just stood there, staring at him. So, Daniel tried to find another topic of conversation.


    "Don''t you get tired of shouting at each other?" They have been shouting across the river to be heard by each other.


    "Why don''t you swim here, then?" He said, annoyed.


    "I, uh, don''t really wanted to go to the desert."


    "Fine, wait for me there." With that statement, he then flung himself to the river and swim across.


    When he finally got there, he is dripping wet. Luckily, there is no monster attacking him when he is swimming.


    Daniel shift his sword to his left hand, and then extending his freed right hand to shake.


    "Daniel Dew." He said.


    "Adam Scoutman." He have a very firm grip.


    "So, uh, how do you got here?" Daniel ask.


    "Don''t know, i was just sitting in front of my tv, and then, here." Adam answered. "What about you?"


    "The same, one moment i was walking to my house, and then, i was in some sort of forest."


    "Oh."


    "Yeah."


    And then, silence.


    "What do you think this place is?" Daniel ask.


    "Some sort of VR or something?"


    "Nah, man, we don''t have that kind of technology, not this kind of realness, anyway."


    "But, it''s weird."


    "Weird, how?"


    "I have got this Class, [Barbarian], after i beat some kind of lizard." Adam said. "And... Item, i guess." He said as he showed Daniel his fists.


    "The gloves?" Daniel asked.


    "Yeah." Adam confirmed. "What about you?"


    "I have got a [Warrior] Class, and this sword and this bottle." Daniel showed him.


    "Oh." Adam said.


    "So, what happens now?"


    Adam shrugged both of his shoulders.


    "Noticed anything useful in there?" Daniel asked as he pointed his chin toward the desert.


    "No, just sands all over."


    "Well," Daniel said. "I came from that way." He pointed toward his back. "It''s got a forest, far nicer from the desert, in my opinion. Wanna go there?"


    "Sure." Adam agreed.


    "Let''s go, then." He turn his back and started walking. After awhile, he noticed the sound of Adam''s footsteps behind him.


    Daniel''s not sure what just happens, but he just hoped that, whatever it is, it''s a good thing.

 Chapter 7

    Daniel''s plan to crossing the river is failed before it''s even began reached anything conclusive, because he can''t find anywhere where the waters is shallow enough to safely crossed on foot.


    Bu, at least, he found another person stranded here just like him to talk to. Or, trying to, anyway.


    Daniel''s usually the quite type, but Adam is on another level. So, it''s depend on Daniel to find something to talk.


    "So..." Daniel began.


    "Hmm." Adam grunted.


    "I had a plan, you see." Daniel continued. "I was trying to cross the river to go to that  mountains, over there," Daniel pointed towards the mountains range. "Before i meet you."


    "What happens to that plan?" Adam asked.


    "I can''t find anywhere to cross." Daniel answered.


    Adam rised both of his eyebrows. "Why don''t you just swim?"


    "I, well, i don''t know how, actually." Daniel admitted.


    A snort from Adam.


    "Hey..." Daniel said, not really offended, scratching his neck and let out an awkward chuckle.


    After that, silence descended upon them once again. It''s slightly less awkward this time, thankfully. God, He needed another topic.


    Fortunately, it did came, unfortunately, it''s came in the form of a monster.


    They are, currently, walking side by side, and noticed the monster at the same time.


    It''s looks like... a chicken. A black and red feathered, long legged chicken that reached Daniel''s waist.


    It''s cocked it''s head, crowed a bit, and then running towards them surprisingly fast.


    Seriously, what with this strange monster appearing out of nowhere and attacking me?  Daniel though.


    Daniel got only a moment to unsheated his sword and tried to swing it.Tried  being the operational word, he missed.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.


    The chicken dodged his terrible swing and then jumped  to kicked him in the face.


    "Ouch!" Daniel shouted. When he touched his nose, it''s came away bloody.


    Adam, meanwhile, has just been silently stood in periphery, make a small comment.


    "You got kicked in the face." He said that with a straight face.


    "Thanks, captain obvious." Daniel said with a sour face.


    The chicken make a strange noise that sound like a laughter.


    Is it  laughing at me?  Daniel though incredulously.


    The chicken sprinted back towards them, they both readied themselves. Daniel with his sword and Adam with his fists.


    This time, the chicken attacked them both, simultaneously.


    Of course, with it''s superior speed, coupled with their inexprienced, it''s succeded to connect it''s attacks more than them.


    It''s attacked with all it''s have, claws, beak, and even rammed it''s body into them.


    Fed up with his ineffective attack, and the chicken''s continous assault, Daniel gripped his sword with both of his hands and slashed it downward with all his might.


    "Eat this!"  He said with a snarl.


    It connect, barely, and managed to draws blood. The chicken just became more furious, but it''s movement became a bit more sluggish.


    Adam managed to hit the chicken, too, with his fists a few times, to little effect.


    Finally, after some scratch, peck, and bruises, they managed to kill it.


    They are both panting and just slumped to sit on the ground.

    "Oh, hey, i''ve got a level up message." Daniel exclaimed.


    "Me, too." Adam said.


    [Level Up!]


    [Barbarian Level 2!]


    [Skill: Bare Hands!]


    "You, too?" Daniel ask. "Lucky us, i guess."


    Adam just grunted in response.


    That noon, they have a lunch of chicken.


    "So, what''s the plan, now?" Asked Adam after he finished with his food.


    "We walks to the north, i guess." Daniel answered.


    "Why?"


    "To find a crossing, of course."


    "Still planning to headed towards the mountains?"


    "Yeah."


    "Okay." Adam said


    "Wait, just like that?" Daniel asked.


    Adam just nodded.


    "Well, okay then." Daniel said. "We walks after a bit of rest."


    They put out the fire that they used to cooking the chicken and headed north.


    "So, i haven''t had the chance to ask before, but how long have you been here?" Daniel asked after some distance of walking.


    "A day." Adam answered simply.


    "Oh, me too." Daniel said, even though Adam hadn''t asked.


    "I thinks we got summoned to another world." Daniel offered his opinion. Adam just raised both of his eyebrows in Daniel direction.


    "I mean, just think about it, we are just doing our stuff as usual, and then bam!, we''re here." Daniel said as he moved his hands in exaggerated move. "And, and the monster, the Class, the Items, this place, too, did you noticed how different it is?" Daniel asked.


    Adam just grunted.


    Daniel sighed.


    They continued walking like that, a few awkward conversations here and there, till the sun goes down and they decided to makes camp for the night.


    So, that''s how their second day went, sleeping under the star, exhausted, and bitten by mosquitos.


    So much for that mercy  Daniel though as he slowly went to sleep.
