《Save Almyre》 Epilogue Nothing really changes in Rivermore village. It¡¯s alwaysbright and sunny. The houses, although made of wood, never wither. The people, having lived in this village for God knows how long, never age. Down south there¡¯s always Kris, teaching new Heroes basic healing and destruction spells. Anna Steelheart, the best blacksmith in Rivermore ( because there is only one blacksmith in our village ) would greet me from her workshop right across. And now standing in front of me, a douchebag named XxxAsswipemotherfucker69xxX, a supposed hero of the Kingdom of Almyre is initiating a conversation. ¡°Noble hero! Welcome to -¡± ¡°Noble hero, you are tasked to go the ca-¡± ¡°May the divines bless y- ¡° And there he goes, the 1,342,756th ¡°hero¡± to go to the capital and save the Kingdom from supposed ¡°demons¡± rampaging the areas... other than Rivermore. If you think that I am the pitiful quest giver that heroes neither listen to nor remember, then you are just about right. Hi there folks, my name is Danielle Fang ( yes, my name is indeed very creative and imaginative thank you very much ) and my sole job in this goddamn world is to send all the heroes to go to the capital of Almyre, Vera, a staggering... 1 minute walk from Rivermore. The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. To make it worse, No hero has ever ventured to the place they are supposed to go. No hero has ever talked to the goddamn King and swore by the oath of the Almyre Kingdom that they will serve and protect our areas from the demons. No hero has ever slain the god eater Nem, the villain that, according to common sense, should have been killed a long time ago if the heroes actually do their job. Countless monsters are being massacred for the sole purpose of gaining experience and materials to ¡°toughen up¡± and somehow, no matter how many of them are slaughtered, the monsters keep popping up to be slain once more. Maybe, just maybe one day there¡¯s going to be a hero that have enough common sense to kill Nem. Maybe¡ I can be the one who kills Nem! People then would start listening to me! And and¡ nevermind. Every time I try to get out of Rivermore, some unknown force would always pull me back to where I should be standing. Every time I move out of my designated place my feet would reposition itself back to where it belongs. Every time I try to speak something other than those 3 sentences no sound would come out. Am I going to be stuck here¡ forever? The Fateful ( Clich茅d ) Day Another typical day. The same weather, the same greetings, and the same 3 sentences the heroes cut off. Sometimes, I don''t even have to utter a word before the heroes decide to wander off. Kris is also ignored most of the time. Poor guy. It seems that the heroes prefer in becoming a warrior instead of a mage, flocking to Anna Steelheart. I mean, she is beautiful. She has a slightly tanned skin and long, ash grey locks that reach her hips, glimmering blue eyes, and- ¡°Dan!¡± a familiar voice shouted. Weird, this is the first time I heard Kris shouted my name with that tone. ¡°Kris? Wait, I can talk! Huh? where are the villagers?¡± ¡°The villagers just suddenly disappeared, I blinked, and all of them vanished!¡± ¡°Are you sure Kri-, Whoa! One of the houses got half submerged into the ground!¡± The skies turn bright and dark in a matter of seconds. Houses and shops are either floating in the sky or buried under the earth. And the villagers nowhere to be seen. What could possibly cause the destruction to Rivermore? Could it be Nem? ¡°Dan! I know it''s fascinating but there is no time to lose, we need to escape Rivermore!¡± Kris says anxiously. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. ¡°Wait, where¡¯s Anna?¡± ¡°I¡¯m right next to you all this time you fool, now let¡¯s evacuate to Vera!¡± *** The journey to Vera, although laughably short, is quite a challenge as we traverse through the destroyed Rivermore. Debris and items would fling with an astounding speed. Swords and Axes would suddenly appear out of thin air, sometimes dangerously above our feet. As we approach closer to the gate of Vera, the abnormalities become less evident. Brilliant! The only thing we have to do now is to get inside and tell the king about the weird happenings in Rivermore. "Good Day noble Hero! Please show me the token you acquired from Rivermore to get inside Almyre." The guard says nonchalantly. "Huh? What token? This is not the time. Rivermore is in shambles and we need to tell the King!" "Hero! It seems that you have not received the token from finishing the quest in Rivermore, please go back and retrieve the token." "What? Can''t you see? Rivermore is completely destroyed by some unknown entity and you are telling me to get some token?" Anna shouts while tugging the guard. "Good day Hero! Please show me your token and-" "It''s no use Anna, it seems that only some of us are self-aware." Kris approaches Anna, trying to calm her down. There must be a way to get inside! I always direct the heroes to go to Vera, so where do they get their tokens from? Instinctively, I put my hands inside my pocket, only to find coins printed with the King''s face on it. "Congratulations for getting the token Hero! Please proceed to the gate and step inside the capital of Almyre." "Wait, why are there tokens inside my pocket?" "Aren''t you supposed to give the tokens to the heroes before they go to the capital?" Kris says, puzzled. "Maybe the heroes just skip the part where you give them the tokens, it automatically gets inside their inventories after all." Anna shrugs. ¡°Wow . . . am I that uninteresting?¡± Kill 100 Nuna(s) The capital is, to put simply, breathtaking. There are no sight of wooden huts and cobblestone houses. Instead, Vera is peppered with castles, shops, and carts selling all kinds of items. Food, armour, weapons, you name it. Shopkeepers and Heroes crowd around the square, trading ingredients and loot they found from slaying demons. Everyone looks so elegant and stylish. Warriors and Knights wearing their new, gleaming armor. Stunning, intricate engravings etched onto their shields, making it all the more extravagant. The mages are just as fashionable. Tightly fit shirts, custom made robes, and lavish embroideries. Expensive. I cannot help but to look at myself. White tee, leather pants, and an old black trench to complete the look. Decent, but nothing to brag about. Kris¡¯s clothes also look fairly simple. He wears brown suspender pants and a beige coloured shirt that complements his blond hair quite nicely. Anna wears a plain white shirt and blue jeans. Honestly, none of our clothes are ugly or unwearable, although it wouldn¡¯t hurt to buy some new, more stylish garments. ¡°It seems that many people are getting rich from slaying all these monsters. No wonder everyone refuses to kill Nem.¡± Kris says while gazing at the carts selling their newest equipment and apparel. I cannot hold myself back and begin looking around the shops with Kris. "I know it''s very fascinating to be in Vera but we need to tell the King about Rivermore." Anna says, pulling me and Kris to the castle at the far end of Vera. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. "Hold up Anna, there is a guy blocking the entrance." Kris says. "Hello Hero! To get inside and change your class, you must first prove yourself worthy by killing 100 Nunas located just outside the Western Gates of Vera." "What? Are you kidding me? 100? What kind of sick joke is this.¡± Anna grabs my shoulders, sighing, "Let''s just go and get this over with." *** "I-i can''t kill them, they''re just so cute!" "No Kris, they''re demons!" Anna replies, frustrated. Can I blame Kris though? They are so adorable! Cream coloured fur, short floppy ears and big, round eyes- ¡°OW! It bit me!¡± Kris shouts. Anna grabs Kris and starts shaking him ¡°Are you an idiot? They¡¯re monsters, not pets!¡± Amidst the mayhem, more Nunas start gathering around us. Slowly opening their jaws, showing their sharp, jagged teeth. Their cute appearance is just a facade, luring gullible Heroes to be devoured. ¡°Good, now we don¡¯t have to chase them around.¡± Anna pulls out her hammer, killing her first Nuna. It whimpers, then disappears, leaving tiny yellow orbs and a gold coin. The yellow orbs dart around before getting absorbed by Anna. ¡°Woah, what were those yellow stuff?¡± Kris asks, puzzled. ¡°Whatever it was, it made me stronger. And somehow, the Nuna also carried gold around.¡± Anna replies, picking up the coin. ¡°Then, we¡¯re going to be rich killing all these Nunas!¡± I say excitedly, pulling out my sword. *** ¡°Those Nunas were stronger than I thought. And my shirt is ruined.¡± Kris sighs. ¡°Welcome back Hero! It seems that you have managed to kill 100 Nunas, here is your reward. You are now also eligible to change your class.¡± he says, handing out a coin bag. ¡°Reward? Yes, now I can buy a new shirt!¡± Kris exclaims. Enthusiastically, I open up the bag, to find¡ 10 gold. ¡°10 gold coins¡ FOR ALL THAT?¡± ¡°Calm down Anna, how much gold did we get from killing the Nunas?¡± ¡°Around 59¡ I think?¡± Kris says. ¡°So our combined total is 69 gold? How much is the cheapest shirt?¡± ¡°70 gold.¡± Warrior Free Party The exterior of the castle is unquestionably stunning, but the interior? Even more magnificent. It¡¯s floor made out of ivory coloured marble, which contrasts with the gold plated ceiling, supported by pillars. A red carpet stretches from the entrance all the way to a set of stairs. A large chandelier gives a finishing touch to the rather elaborate space. The castle is also full of hustle and bustle. Heroes gather around, conversing with what seems to be high-ranking generals of Almyre. Another person with a relatively simpler clothes also stands in the middle. ¡°I¡¯ve been waiting for you, Hero. My name is Gus, and I¡¯m in charge of the classes here in Almyre. Nem is quite a formidable demon, so we need more specialised Heroes to work together in order to defeat him. Now, you can approach the masters of the class you are interested in.¡± ¡°Huh? I guess we¡¯re on the right track then? What about the weird happenings in Rivermore?¡± Kris comments. ¡°It seems that nobody notices any change except us.¡± Anna replies. "And while we''re here, we might as well change our class." Changing our class? That¡¯s nuts. Scratch that, everything that has happened for the past few hours has been bizarre. With us suddenly being able to walk and talk by ourselves. The fact that other people are still unable to ¡°snap¡± out of their scripted dialogues and duties and the otherworldly phenomenon that happened in Rivermore. It¡¯s too much. It¡¯s not that long ago that I started getting aware of my surroundings. But at that time, I can¡¯t free myself from the influence that kept me standing there. If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. How long did I stood there actually? If the only thing I did was standing there muttering the same exact sentences, how do I manage to master a language, and moreso, communicate it with other people? Who am I? "Hello! Earth to Dan! Are you pondering on which class to choose?¡± Kris slaps my shoulder, grinning. ¡°Hmm¡ I don¡¯t know, I¡¯m not even sure what I¡¯m good at.¡± ¡°How about a Warrior? It kinda suits you.¡± Kris laughs. ¡°Ew no, literally every protagonist always becomes a Warrior, I''ll pick anything else besides that.¡± ¡°Well, how about the opposite of warriors?¡± Anna mentions. ¡°I just picked the blacksmith class, it seems interesting, and I got a hammer and a cart! Maybe you should approach the woman with the black suit, she seems to have the right class for you.¡± I nod my head, and walk closer to the woman. She seems¡ intimidating. She wears a long tight black garment, black pants, and a mask, a clear contrast with her pale skin and bright, yellow eyes. ¡°Hey Hero. Are you interested in joining the assassin class?¡± the woman asks. ¡°It may be quite intimidating at first, but it¡¯s a very fun class to take. Yo will also get your first set of daggers and uniform after you join.¡± I¡¯m not sure why, but the class seems to resonate deeply with me. She¡¯s also... weirdly familiar. Did I meet her before? Does she know anything about my past? "Okay, I''ll join.¡± "Very well Hero. Here is your uniform and your first set of daggers. You are now eligible to access the assassin''s skill tree. Once you have mastered all the techniques, you may go back here to upgrade your class." "Congratulations Dan! You finally picked a class." Kris laughs. "Thanks for waiting Kris." I reply sarcastically. "Now that we¡¯re finished, should we check on Rivermore?"
